This is a dangerous question.
How would you build a House spin off game for the PlayStation II or Xbox 360 that would be nostalgic to people who were born in 1994.
So this is interesting, because the TellTale style would be great for House, if you ignore the way the dialogue selection would mess with the pacing of a House episode - but that wasn't popularized until the PS3 era, so we'd have to get more basic.
My first impulse is to ask what we want out of a House tie-in video game and answer that with "it should feel like an episode (or multiple) of House." House has a solid formula, which is:
Patient comes in with a problem.
House and co. try to treat it as they try and figure it out.
Patient gets worse, sometimes in direct response to treatments.
These often manifest as new symptoms, which House and co. can use to get a more accurate reading.
By the end, they figure it out, and most of the time the patient doesn't even die.
This is the same narrative arc as Wordle, so we know it can be replicated in a game. So maybe we start with a more complicated version of Wordle, where there are a bunch of illnesses a patient has and each respond differently to treatments, which give us clues we can use to get closer to the answer. If the patient dies at any point then we've lost the case.
This is a pretty good start but it's missing that PS2 late millennial gamer element.
It's tempting to add, like, platforming between the patient and the pills and call it a day, but House himself is famously not great on his feet. It's better to lean the other way and move more toward RPG mechanics. We want mechanics that value analysis and planning better than reaction and execution; that's more compatible with the spirit of House MD anyway.
But turn-based combat is really not the vibe. At most a conversation simulator where enemy HP is their patience for House's bullshit and when it reaches 0 they give in and do what he wants. I still don't love it.
What if instead it was a game where you got to decide what House, Cameron, Chase and Foreman spent their hour doing, each hour in the case. On the main menu during this selection is House's board of symptoms, and there's a menu where you can go through the file in more detail and see how the case is going. This style of gameplay would allow for extra menu options for "Deal with Cuddy," or rest mechanics that require that characters spend a certain amount of time a day sleeping. You could have a series of stats that determine each character's specialization which makes them more suited for certain tasks but still able to do any other if the others are unavailable.
Since actually having a mental glossary of every condition in the world is beyond the expectations of a given player, each character can come up with options to pursue in response to symptoms appearing, and maybe a Creativity stat can be tied to how quickly they come up with options. Naturally, all of their stats need to be able to be raised through practice.
Also I don't think the death of a patient should represent a fail-state for this game. Patients do die sometimes in House, and while there are long-term consequences on the wellbeing of the doctors when it happens they don't lose their jobs over it... until they do. I think the punishments for losing a case should be devastating enough that players want to avoid it - like maybe lose enough patients and a major actor quits - but it's not a run ender.
Instead, the campaign tracks how well you do across several patients, and gives you one of several endings based on the decisions you've made and your success rate. Of course there need to be some random elements so you can't just memorize the diseases, but this encourages multiple playthroughs.
In short, the ideal House MD video game is a Princess Maker.

My reviews of free art apps I'm testing on my phone:
NOTE: These are based on my preferences and opinions. I don't use a lot of apps and tend to stick to just 1. Please do not use this as a basis for whether or not you yourself should get the apps, it is best if you test them out yourself as they may be beneficial or even different for you and your set up.
Medibang Paint: 8/10 (not uninstalling, keeping for the files)
it was a 10/10 but then they updated and now it's not as great. lost another point when it started bugging out. Otherwise the app is extremely good. zooming, the image is still crisp, the strokes may be pixels, but I don't mind it. the UI is very clean and clear. you can see and understand the icons for each button and tool, easy access to everything you need + you are able to customize the brush settings and get some fun and unique textures out of it. it's super user and beginner friendly without the need for a "tutorial" to hold your hand in figuring out what things do and what they are.
I would gladly accept suggestions for free drawing apps similar to Medibang. or any cheap app that may cost money, because if Medibang refuses to behave, I may need to make a decision that I really would rather not make.
Ibis Paint X: 1/10
confusing UI. doesn't matter the DPI, you zoom in and every brush stroke is extremely blurry for some reason and that really messes with my eyes. extremely tedious to figure out, you would need to spend an extensive amount of time trying to find everything to understand the app. this app is like the opposite of Medibang. Even with the tutorial holding your hand to figure out what is what and where, it is still extremely confusing and unclear.
Autodesk Sketchbook: 2/10 (used to use you on kindle)
nothing like how it was on my kindle. on an older phone of mine it lagged so bad and had a different type of overall UI setup going for it, but I was able to at least draw something on that one despite the ungodly lag. this one? just as bad and unclear as Ibis Paint X, except the tools and settings are not scattered on the screen. you have to click an unclear button to find the brushes to change them and then another unclear button to customize them. the quality of the strokes are just about the same as Ibis Paint X in that they are extremely blurry.
Infinite Painter: 3/10
the UI is still sparse. a tutorial is shown telling you what is what and overall less tools visible than the previous 2 apps, this is unfortunate. However, the brushes are not blurry, but are pixelated like Medibang. a slight odd latency when making a stroke, not something I'm fond of, personally, but the selection of brushes aren't too bad, I suppose. Not for me tho. got distracted playing with the brushes and textures, but I don't think I'll be drawing anything. I would say if you're not put off by things here, you could probably get used to this and enjoy it. definitely better than the others listed besides Medibang.
the brush collage:
Tumblr media
Clip Studio Paint: 1/10
first time trying this one out. took the longest to install. it takes a weirdly long time to start up?? definitely not a great first impression here. too clicky and sticky with the rotation, tedious to navigate to do anything. wow this app is not great. it looks horrible with the UI, too. clean screens are not good. it's off-putting. also it is by default recording me draw??? the heck? seems to be only 1 brush option, little to no actual customization of the brush. no clue where the layers were if there were any at all. overall?
Tumblr media
Sketchbook Lite: 0/10
immediate ads. forces you into an ad that says 'start free trial then pay $14.99 a month uwu' instant hate. stroke quality is blurred, UI is WAY too empty. I like the dark mode, but YIKES. you exit out of the app for a sec and then back in and you are smacked in the face with the same invasive ads as you started out with. you are NOT getting my money that I do not even have to begin with. instant uninstall.

CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE: WISHING STAR
Tumblr media
↳ Pairing: Choi Beomgyu x Reader
↳ word count: 2.3k words
↳ rating: G
↳ genre: fluff
Tumblr media
In the middle of the busy airport, three figures sat side-by-side waiting for the overhead speakers to call them.
Soobin, Y/N and Kai sat patiently—trying to forget the events that led up to that point.
The girl sat in the middle, her head resting on Soobin’s shoulder as his head also rested on hers—hand wrapped tightly around her waist.
On her other side, Kai sat with his arm looping around hers—hand scrolling through his phone as his other held his iced coffee to his lips.
In front of him was a television blaring out Argenti’s local news, and she could almost feel the panic emanating from Soobin as the television suddenly flashed Beomgyu’s photo.
She cranked a weak smile as Soobin raised his head up, eyes wide as he wracked his brain for a topic.
“It’s fine, Bin.”
Soobin sighed, running his hand through his hair.
“I know I told you that you have to move on from this, Y/N,” Soobin frowned. “but I didn’t mean you have to at this very second. I know you’re hurt.”
“It’s not about me being hurt, Soobin.” Y/N replied, eyes intently gazing onto the prince’s photo on the television. “It’s about me hurting him. I can’t live with that.”
Soobin only sighed.
“It’s way more than just that, Y/N.” Kai said, locking his phone. “It’s more than just you and Beomgyu.”
“You think?” Y/N snorted sarcastically. “I screwed over Argenti, Kai. They were going to have Gyuu as the king—he’s perfect but I messed up.”
The girl’s eyes turned back to the television where a photo of Lord Jiho and Lady Eunjae was being flashed.
“Now those… things… are going to be king and queen, and I know they don’t deserve it—Gyuu does.” Y/N sighed. “I don’t know how to fix it.”
“Maybe this really isn’t your problem to fix.” Soobin said.
“I owe it to him, Binnie.”
“Well, wether you want to or not—there’s really not much we can do anymore. We’re just journalists, Y/N.” Kai said sadly. “Changing centuries-old monarchial systems? That’s a wish on a dead star for us.”
Y/N’s head shot up.
“Say that again.”
Hueningkai blinked, softly scooting away as Soobin shot him a glare.
“I’m sorry, Y/N-ie.” He mumbled softly. “I didn’t—“
“No, Kai.” Y/N said fiercely. “Say it again.”
“… there’s not much we can do?”
“The other one.” Y/N said, shaking her head.
“Um,” Soobin piped up, furrowing his eyebrows. “We’re just journalists?”
“No.”
“Changing centuries-old monarchial systems is a wish on a dead star?” Hueningkai asked, confused.
“Star.” Y/N gasped, pulling her phone out and opening her photos.
Then, she let out a shuddering breath—almost leaping onto Kai and engulfing him in a hug.
“You’re a genius, Kai!”
“I have no idea what the hell is going on.” Soobin blinked as Y/N’s phone rang.
Tumblr media
Y/N shot up, picking up her bag.
“We have to go.”
Soobin blinked, checking his watch.
“Where?”
The castle.”
Hueningkai and Soobin exchanged a look before the prior stood up and softly rubbed the girl’s shoulder.
“Y/N, I don’t think he’d talk to you.” He said. And our flight leaves in 3 hours.”
Y/N shook her head, pleading to both boys.
“Please, guys. It’s an emergency.”
Before both of them could say anything else, there was a voice that called out Y/N’s name. The three turned to see a blonde boy shaking the keys in his hands.
“We gotta go.” Taehyun said.
The girl turned back to Soobin and Kai, smiling hopefully. Soobin huffed, rolling his eyes.
“I hate you so much.”
“I love you, too.” Y/N grinned, pulling the two boys towards the blonde. “Come on!”
Tumblr media
Inside Argenti’s central court, all the kingdom’s politicians gathered. At the podium stood the Prime Minister, next to an irate Lady Eunjae and Lord Jiho.
“Isn’t this enough for the coronation to start?” Eunjae hissed angrily. “Let’s get a move on.”
“Not yet,” the prime minister shook his head. “The queen has to be here.”
“We are.” Yeonjun announced as he opened the door, revealing Beomgyu, Hanuel and the queen behind him.
“Stop the coronation—Don’t crown them.” Beomgyu declared, making the two by the altar laugh.
“On what grounds?” Jiho snorted.
“I am the prince—I am the late king’s son.” Beomgyu argued. “That means I am his heir—I am the next king.”
“Illegitimate heir.” Eunjae smirked, handing the certificate of adoption to Beomgyu with an insincere smile. “Here, take a look, baby.”
“Don’t call me that.” Beomgyu hissed as his mother took the certificate gingerly.
As Beomgyu clenched his first in anger, Yeonjun bit his lip.
“Y/N,” he mumbled to himself, biting his lip. “Hurry.”
Tumblr media
Y/N burst into the castle, sprinting over to the lounge. She was followed by Taehyun, hot on her heels. Soobin and Kai followed them, awed by the castle. As son as she reached the lounge, her eyes zeroed in on the Christmas Tree and froze.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?” Taehyun asked as the girl’s eyes wracked the decor.
“On a shooting star, the first sight I lay. The answer to everything I pray.” She recited, eyes zeroing on the glass star perched on top of the tree. “Shooting star.”
Soobin, Kai and Taehyun all exchanged looks as Y/N turned to them.
“Binnie, get the star.”
The tall boy frowned, stepping forward with furrowed eyebrows.
“Uh, sure,” he tilted his head. “But why?”
“Just do it.”
He sighed, reaching up to grab the glass ornament from the tip of the three and handing it to the girl.
“Be careful—it’s glass.” Soobin said.
“Okay,” Y/N nodded before throwing the star on the floor—shattering the ornament.
Taehyun gasped as Kai and Soobin flinched away from the glass.
“Y/N, what the hell?” Kai whined as the girl smiled over at a shocked Taehyun.
“That was… the king’s last gift to the queen.” Taehyun mumbled.
“I know,” Y/N said. “the queen never unwrapped it.”
“What do you mean?” Soobin asked, confused as the girl crouched down and sifted through the glass debris. “Y/N, what are you doing—you’ll get hurt.”
“No, I won’t.” Y/N grinned, standing back up with a tightly folded piece of paper in her hands. “What time does the interrignum end?”
“Thirty minutes.” Taehyun replied “Why?”
The girl held up the paper in her hand.
“Think we can get to the court before then?”
The paper in her hand read—Decree of the king.
Tumblr media
Yeonjun fidgeted in his spot as he checked his phone. 0 texts. Next to him, Beomgyu shook in anger as Jiho knelt before the prime minister.
“Do you swear to do right by Argenti and her people—as her king and her subject?”
“I do,” Jiho smiles as Eunjae clapped her hands.
“Do you, as king, swear to take care of Argenti and her people first, before anything else?”
“I do.”
“Then before the new king says his oaths and wears the crown, are there any oppositions any of you wish to say?” The prime minister looked around expectantly.
Yeonjun bit his lip, anxious at the growing silence.
“Well,” the prime minister said, disappointed. “If there is none, then please repeat these—“
“I have one!” Yeonjun said loudly, raising his hand.
The prime minister sighed in relief, smiling over at him.
“What is it, my lord?”
“Hyung?” Beomgyu asked, confused as everyone turned to Yeonjun.
Yeonjun blinked, stammering as he wracked his brain for excuses as to what his disputes may be.
“Um, I—“
“I don’t think he has anything to say, minister.” Jiho scoffed, glared at the pink-haired prince.
“I do!” Yeonjun argued weakly. “I, uh, I—I—“
The door to the court burst open, a tall black-haired boy stumbling inside in panic.
“Oh god, oh god,” the boy mumbled to himself. “We’re here!”
Another tall boy with curly brown hair sprinted in, waving his arms as he stopped next to the other boy.
“We’re here! We’re here! Beomgyu is the heir! Beomgyu is the heir!” He announced, waving his hands.
Yeonjun blinked, exchanging looks with Beomgyu before he tilted his head.
“Who are you exactly?” Yeonjun asked.
Beside him, Beomgyu narrowed his eyes suspiciously before gasping.
“Wait, Soobin? Kai?”
The brunette boy smiled, giggling as he waved his hands.
“Hi!” He grinned.
Y/N and Taehyun entered the court, panting.
“They’re with me!” Y/N announced, sighing as they reached Yeonjun. “You have no fucking clue what just happened.”
With a huge sigh of relief, Yeonjun practically collapsed on the jury’s bench. Taehyun chuckled, shaking his head as he held the paper in his hands up.
“Beomgyu-hyung is the heir.” Taehyun said, handing the paper to Beomgyu. “It’s from your dad. One last decree he enacted secretly before he died.”
Beomgyu blinked, clearing his throat as he smoothened the paper out. His eyes trained over to Y/N, who leaned on Soobin as she watched the events unfolding before her. He cleared his throat before reading.
“Blood may be thicker than water—but blood is from the heart. The heart speaks for itself, and my heart tells me that my son—my heir is your prince. No one but my son, Choi Beomgyu.” Beomgyu read, hesitating slightly before continuing. “I therefore declare, as Decree 50299, that Beomgyu is my son. Adopted children of the king are listed as legitimate heirs—and therefore, legitimate to the throne. I believe that my son will uphold his values and become the best ruler that will serve the country. So goes, the will of the king.”
Beomgyu turned back over toY/N, who shot him an encouraging smile. The prince gave the decree over to the prime minister, who authenticated the decree with a smile before holding it up.
“It has the official seal of the king—Prince Beomgyu is the legitimate heir of the throne!” The prime minister declared.
There were cheers coming from the politicians at the stands. Taehyun and Yeonjun fist -bumped as Y/N smiled happily.
“This isn’t fair—This is wrong!” Jiho screamed. “We will fight on this. We will get a case filed for this, we will get a team of lawyers to handle this—“
Eunjae screeched in anger, taking off the ring on her hands and placing it in Jiho’s hands angrily.
“Make sure we get divorced first.”
Taehyun, Y/N and Yeonjun snickered at the side as the girl stormed away, being chased by her new ex-husband. The prime minister cleared his throat, calling for Beomgyu with a smile.
“My prince, if you may.” The prime minister gestured to the space in front of him.
With a nervous grin, Beomgyu kneeled—taking the king’s scepter in his arms as he began his oaths.
“Do you swear to do right by Argenti and her people—as her king and her subject?”
“I do.”
“Do you, as king, swear to take care of Argenti and her people first, before anything else?”
“I do.”
“Then before the new king says his oaths and wears the crown, are there any oppositions any of you wish to say?”
There was no response, only the anticipating smiles of the people in the court.
“Well, if there is none, then my prince—please repeat these words.” The prince said. “I,”
“I,”
“Prince Beomgyu of Argenti,”
“Prince Beomgyu and Argenti,”
“Promise to serve the country to the best of my abilities,”
“Promise to serve the country to the best of my abilities,”
“Promise to serve as a king of the people, and a king of the people.”
“Promise to serve as a king of the people, and a king of the people.”
“So is the will of the king and the country.”
“So is the will of the king and the country.”
Y/N smiled as the crown of the king finally rested on Beomgyu’s head. Slowly, the prince—king—rose to his feet.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present King Choi Beomgyu I, King of Argenti.”
There were cheers and claps coming from all around. Media were finally allowed in the court to take the first photos of the newly crowned king. Beomgyu looked over to the side to find Y/N, who stood next to Taehyun and Yeonjun, all three with gentle smiles in their faces.
The girl sighed, turning over to the two.
“Well, this is it.”
Taehyun smiled sadly, reaching out to engulf the girl in a hug.
“We’ll visit you soon.”
“You better,” Y/N laughed, returning the hug. “Thanks, Taetae. I’ll miss you a lot.”
The boy only grinned, squeezing the girl and letting her go as Yeonjun threw himself on the girl.
“Y/N-ie, don’t leave me!” He whined, making the girl giggle.
“Shut up, Jun.” Y/N chuckled, burying her face in his chest. “Thank you, so much. I don’t think I could’ve lived through all of this without you two.”
“Thanks for taking care of my baby cousin.” Yeonjun replied.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows, pulling away.
“I screwed him over, Junie.”
“No,” Yeonjun shook his head, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. “You told him what he needed to hear, and made him experience a love he never had before—so thanks.”
Y/N smiled as she slowly stepped back, falling in line back with Soobin and Kai.
“I’ll see you both around then?”
“Soon.” Taehyun grinned, waving his hand. “We’ll just pop up in your house.”
“Don’t be creepy.” Y/N smirked, hands interlacing with Kai’s and looking over at him with a smile. “Time to go home?”
“Let’s go home.” Kai nodded.
Y/N looked over at the podium, eyes locking with the new king. The girl lowered herself into a curtsey, shooting the new king one final smile before settling back into the arms of Soobin. As they walked out, the boy proudly placed a delivate peck on the girl’s head and she smiled in satisfaction.
Her job is done.

誕生日おめでとう!! (part 2)
a continuation of collab w @polar-stars
10:30 AM EST, February 14th
“How does one art?” asked the tenchou with a depressed groan.
Lea glanced over at the tenchou’s screen. Thirty-three shots of espresso and half a latte macchiato later, they were done writing the fic and the tenchou was now staring down what vaguely resembled a chaotic slew of random lines and squiggles.
“Are you doing abstract art?” Lea asked curiously.
Reina gave her a look. “This is just the first layer.”
It took all her self control and then some not to laugh, but Lea managed to clear her throat and resume working on her masterpiece.
“I need a break,” the tenchou announced. “I’m going to buy food. Do you want anything?”
Lea shook her head. “I had breakfast on the plane. Thanks for putting me in business class, by the way.”
“Of course! I have a shit ton of mileage.”
It was no surprise when the store manager returned bearing five shots of espresso. “I’m setting a deadline,” Reina explained when Lea raised a concerned eyebrow. “I’ll be done with the art before I finish the coffee.”
“I thought you were getting food?”
Reina waved it off and sat down. “Brain food.” She cracked her knuckles and rolled her neck. “Crunch time.”
Intrigued at the sudden life in the tenchou’s eyes, Lea gave a smirk. “See you on the flip side.”
under the cut :}
4:00 PM EST, February 14th
“How does… one… gradient?”
It had been approximately five and a half hours of radio silence between the two in the cafe. The New York afternoon was flitting by but neither registered the time nor the passersby making the most of their Valentine’s Day; every single one of their senses was honed in on their screens and the food (because Lea insisted that no, the tenchou could not in fact survive solely off caffeine).
“What program are you using?” Lea asked without looking up from Kuvira’s left eyebrow.
“I invested in Clip Studio recently. Fuck! That clears the canvas.”
Lea pointed at the left dock while simultaneously contouring Kuvira’s eyelid. “The gradient is under the brush.”
“Oh! Thank you.” Reina messed around with the background gradient for what had to be at least twenty years. Then she sat back with a relieved sigh and said, “I’m done.”
Lea examined Reina’s screen and the gradient—or rather, lack thereof.
“Where’s the gradient?”
Reina blinked. “That is the gradient. Jujutsu Kaisen but pastel.”
Gradient, my ass, Lea thought with a pronounced eyeroll, and the tenchou laughed as if she knew what Lea was thinking.
“My handwriting is giving me an aneurism,” she continued, “and I seriously don’t know what Akane is sitting on, but it is how it is. Are you done yet?”
“Just about,” Lea said, adding final touches to Baatar’s glasses. “Should I call the birthday girl now?”
The tenchou nodded and saved the Krita file—to lose progress now would be tragic indeed. “Tell her to be here tomorrow morning at nine and ask her what her favorite coffee is. I’ll get the fic printed in 52 point font when I go back to Jyard tonight. Care to get dinner?”
For what must’ve been the first time since they’d sat down that morning, Lea took the opportunity to absorb how gorgeous New York City actually was, the sunset an idyllic canvas streaked with pastels. “Have we seriously been sitting in this cafe for six hours? Do you even know how many couples should’ve been enjoying the cityscape from this table?”
Reina shrugged and Lea wondered if she should admire or chastise how emotionally dead the tenchou was. “You’re my interim Valentine’s date. Let them deal with it.”
[ok ok listen i have no clue what kind of restaurants are in nyc so we’re just ~casually~ skipping that scene]
9:00 AM EST, February 15th
The birthday girl had just sat down in the otherwise empty cafe when a waitress approached her. [also do wait staff approach you in cafes or are you supposed to order of your own volition bc i have 0 memory of pre covid]
“One cappuccino, please,” she requested, and she swore she saw a flicker of recognition in the waitress’ eyes.
In a few minutes the waitress returned with the cappuccino… and a latte macchiato and ten iced americanos.
The birthday girl’s eyes bugged out. “Um… I don’t think this is the right order?”
“It’s the right order,” said the conservatory student with a knowing grin.
Just as the birthday girl opened her mouth to courteously question just what kind of caffeine-addicted dumbass one would have to be to drink a dozen coffees in one sitting, Lea appeared out of nowhere and added, “It is most definitely the right order.”
“Nah,” corrected the tenchou. “There were supposed to be twelve of mine but Lea made me cut two.” And then they dumped all seventy-two pages of heavyweight paper on the birthday girl lmao ok yeah that is not good for the environment but hey it’s yo birthday! hope your 2021 is completely crammed with joy and fortune and lots of good food. you are an amazing writer and human being with some litass electromagnetic oscillations, so keep living life as always :}

that's really cool that you put together the aai2 minisprite sheets! if it's alright to ask, can you explain your process for making the animations with them? (I've always thought that kind of thing was cool and wanted to try for myself, but I have no idea how to know what the timing of the frames and stuff should be)
Sure thing!! There’s a video here explaining how to use the sprite sheets for the close-up sprites, and you can use a kind of similar process for the minisprites... but the program this person uses is photoshop and probably has a much better process artistically over mine, so here’s my free version because photoshop is Money. Consider this a lazy and cheap tutorial to putting the sprites together haha.
I use GIMP, which has some of the same features as photoshop but it’s free to download (or at least was when I downloaded it ages ago for a comp sci project...)
... And I’ll put the tutorial under a keep reading because with the images it’ll get kinda long. I don’t know how familiar you are with the program and image editing stuff in general (I’m... not very myself,) so I’ll probably overexplain things a bit haha.
First, you pick the sprite sheet you want. I’ll use... this one! It’s sufficiently complicated enough I should be able to cover everything necessary.
Tumblr media
Then, create a new “canvas” for the minisprite. Normally for these minisprites I use 100x180, and that seems to fit them well, but since Kay’s got her scarf here I’m going to make it 180x180 for now... we can always resize it later if necessary.
Tumblr media
I should note here that I’m not an artist and hence I’m probably missing some super obvious features that make this super easy haha.... but, oh well, this is at least my process.
Next, pick your “starting sprite”. This can be kind of difficult on some of the sheets... but if you know what the sprite’s supposed to look like at the end it helps a lot. There are youtube playthroughs that can help you find it! It also helps to know that in this case, maybe because it’s originally Japanese, but the sprite sheets are often read right->left (at least in this case.)
In this case, the full animated sprite is actually on the wiki so I can reference that -- it’s not always an option, though, so you’d have to hunt it down somewhere in a playthrough if you remember where it is.
We’ll pick the sprite on the bottom that actually has her scarf in the air as our first sprite. I was going to use the one in the top right corner, but her leg is actually cut off in the image... so we’ll move that one in later. Carefully select and then copy+paste it onto the canvas. Also, make sure you put it on a new layer and not the background layer - once you make the new layer you can delete the background, it makes things a pain later.
Tumblr media
The workstation now kind of looks like this. I definitely made the image too wide so I’ll crop it down a bit to 150x180 using the “Canvas size” tool under Layers, just be careful that you offset it properly so it doesn’t crop the image you actually want, and to resize the layers so things look nice. It shouldn’t actually affect the image if you do it right. ... I’ll probably have to crop it again later haha, but.
Now things get difficult, because this is the only completed sprite of Kay that’s in there. All the others are limited to her head or head+torso with the legs off-center for some inexplicable reason, which is why I picked this to account for that.
Let’s deal with the sprite we wanted to use first. I’m going to carefully select the part on the legs where it cuts off, and then copy+paste it onto a new layer. In this case I’ll call it “layer 0″ just so I don’t forget I wanted to put this one first.
Tumblr media
It now looks like this. I already did this, but carefully position it above the old sprite so that the similar parts line up. In this case it’s pretty easy since the only thing that changes is the scarf, so I matched up the hair.
To check, you can put the visibility of both layers on and turn the visibility of the top layer on and off repeatedly using that little eye you can see to the left of the layer name, and all it should be able to show is the scarf moving - or whatever you want to change between frames. I definitely recommend this step because even if it looks right... it might not be.
Now, GIMP works in a weird way where each layer can be a new “frame” in a GIF, so we want to make that layer 0 look like layer 1. This is a pain and probably why it’s better to use a program like photoshop haha but we can pull it off anyways. To do this, we’ll first duplicate layer 1. This will be our “base layer”.
Tumblr media
The top layer is Kay’s head+torso, which is the part that changes in the frame. So we’ll carefully select that part, move to the base layer, and then press “delete” to get rid of everything except for the legs, which are all we need from that sprite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then merge the two layers together by right-clicking on layer 0 (whichever the top layer is) and selecting “merge down”. This will make it into 1 layer. (I renamed it to layer 0 again, too.) As long as both layers are visible and you don’t have any weird effects like transparency or something on them (which you shouldn’t, since it’s not necessary for a sprite edit) it should look the same as the original.
The difference isn’t super visible here but it will be for the later ones.
... Next, this sprite is kind of complicated because the rest of these are just headshots. The one to the left of the top-right sprite is the base sprite, as far as I can tell, so we’ll pick the next one over, the one which is third from the right.
I rearranged the layers so 0 was on the bottom for the GIF process later, and made a new layer 2 for the next “frame”.
Tumblr media
Things... get kind of weird here because the scarf kind of goes below the neck cut-off point, so when repeating the process I did above with copying the base sprite + cutting out the replaced parts, I’m using the neck as a base guideline instead of the lowest point of the scarf, so that the sprite doesn’t end up looking weird.
Normally when I do these, I use the frame just before the current one as the “base”, so that I conserve as much as possible. In this case, though, I’ll keep using frame 0 as the “base” sprite because the scarf stays above the neckline, so it’s much neater to cut out than the ones where the scarf goes below.
Lots of times you’ll just have to use your best judgement on where to cut things so that you keep what you need. Sometimes I’ve had to just take out an eraser and erase some of the sprite where there’s no easy way to do it haha. Anyways, here’s the third frame.
Tumblr media
I’m not going to show it because this went on long enough, but by repeating the process, I get the next frames for all the little headshots there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we thiiink we have our frames in place, so we’ll export it as a GIF! Once you do that (you go export, change the file type to GIF, and then add .gif at the end just to be safe) this pops up.
Tumblr media
Since I already was working on these before it’s already filled these in haha. If it’s not checked already, check the “As animation” box. Make sure “loop forever” is selected. Then, you add in the “delay between frames where unspecified” - an earlier sprite had 130 as a walking speed, but the scarf animation I got from the wiki had the frames at 100, it honestly depends. Use your best judgment by eyeing the originals as best you can where a source doesn’t exist.
I tend to find that 100-150 works for most little actions. You can change the individual timing of the frames by adding ([x]ms) to the end of any individual layer name. (For instance, (100ms) if you want that one frame to be 100 milliseconds long. The layer name would then be something like “1(100ms)”.)
The “replace” option is there because otherwise the layers would just pile on top of each other which doesn’t look good. “Replace” treats each layer as a new frame, which is what we want. For some, you might want to use cumulative, but I’ve yet to figure out where to use it haha. If you need it changed between different frames, you can add (cumulative) or (replace) beside each of the layer names in a similar manner you would with the milliseconds.
Once that’s all done, you export, then check out the gif! Here’s ours.
Tumblr media
... And thinking about it, I think I might’ve actually messed up a bit. I don’t think that frame at the bottom was supposed to be there, and the one I thought was identical actually wasn’t. By replacing that one with the other frame we get this...
Tumblr media
Which looks similar? But a bit better? It’s hard to actually tell the difference. I highly doubt anyone would notice unless they actually know how sprite sheets work - I don’t! I really don’t! That’s why I’m suffering here haha.
I genuinely don’t know how to get the timing perfect - referencing the original sprite or similar sprites is the only advice I have here. I’m sure someone who knows more about this than me can give a better answer.
This is one of the trickier sprite sheets to do, I think.  Some of them are much easier... like the walking sprites. You just overlay them as necessary. And some of them I genuinely have no clue how to work out... just look at this mess that is Gumshoe and the metal detector.
Tumblr media
Half the struggle is deciphering what is going on with the sprite sheets actually. Looking back I kind of wish I picked a different example because I’m not confident on this one... but I’m not redoing this tutorial haha.
Anyways I hope this helped, probably was more than you were actually looking for... probably was less helpful than you were looking for... but hopefully at least the general process made sense? I’m sorry haha.

part II: creating gifs in photoshop
how to make critical role gifs (a tutorial)
masterpost || part I
The method I use for giffing is the > Load files into Stack method. What this means is that you take screencaps of videos and load them into Photoshop to convert them into frames. In this part I'll teach you how to make gifs in Photoshop using screencaps.
NOTE: my Photoshop is set to Dutch but I explain everything in English in text (also because of context clues I’m sure most of it will be self-explanatory anyway).
what you’ll need:
Photoshop (I use an old CS5 version).
Screencaps to make gifs from.
(if you don’t have photoshop maybe take a look at this list)
loading files into stack
The first thing you need to do is open the screencaps in Photoshop but because we want them all in one file we don’t just go to File > Open and select them. Instead we do this:
Go to File > Scripts > Load files into Stack
Tumblr media
Click Browse
Select all the screencaps you want to use for your gif
Click Open (I typically use anywhere between 50 and 150 screencaps in one gif)
Click OK and wait for them to load (each screencap will load as its own layer which will make it a lot easier to make small adjustments)
Tumblr media
Once it has finished loading your layers should look something like this
Tumblr media
making frames from layers
Go to Window > Animation (or Window > Timeline depending on what ps you use) and make sure it’s checked
Your Photoshop should look like something like this
Tumblr media
Click on the three white boxes on the bottom circled on the image above (Create Frame Animation or Create Video Timeline)
Your animation window should now look like this
Tumblr media
In the top right corner of the animation window you will find an arrow pointing down with lines next to it (circled in the image above)
Clicking on it will reveal a list
Click Make Frames from Layers
Tumblr media
Your layers will appear as frames in the animation window but they will be arranged backwards
Click on the same icon again (arrow pointing down next to the lines)
Click Reverse Frames
Your gif will now play correctly if you press the play button in the animation window (bottom left)
cropping
We have our base but it’s obviously way too big to properly work with and I want to focus only on Travis’ face. To know what size to crop to you have to understand Tumblr dimensions; this image is a clear and easy reminder of what they are.
Note: height is less important and can be messed around with more than width. If you upload a gif that doesn’t follow the width dimensions tumblr will resize it and you will lose some of your quality.
Most of the time the gifs I make are 268px by 268px though I would recommend you play around and find your own preferred sizing after you get a bit more comfortable.
Select the cropping tool on your tool bar
Enter the dimensions you want where it says Width and Height
Crop the image
Tumblr media
timing/looping
The timing of your gifs helps control how fast or slow your gif moves.
Click on the arrow pointing down next to the lines again (top right corner of the animation window)
Click Select all Frames
Click where it says 0 sec. on any of the frames
Click Other...
Set Delay 0,05 seconds
(0,05 or 0,06 is what I have found works the best for my screencaps; if you use a different method for getting screencaps or want to speed up or slow down your gif you could change this to whatever you prefer)
Click OK
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we’re going to change the looping setting to make sure your gif doesn’t stop after playing one time.
Click on where it says Once in the bottom left corner
Select Always
Tumblr media
My gif now looks like this:
Tumblr media
At this point you should delete any of the frames you don’t want to keep in your gif (select a frame you wish to delete and click the little trash icon on the bottom of the animation window). I have a tendency to use a few more screencaps than I actually need to because I want to make sure I get the exact moment I wanted and now is the time to get rid of any excess ones.
Go through your gif, let it play a few times and figure out if you want to delete a few frames here and there (I only ever delete frames from the beginning or the end so as not to mess up the flow/smoothness of the gif). This is the last chance you’ll have for this.
convert for smart filters
Congrats you have made a basic gif! If you’re like me you maybe want it to look a little bit prettier and a little more polished though. The main ways to accomplish this is to sharpen and to mess around with the colouring a bit.
Now there’s a lot of different ways you can go about this but I like to do it with my frames/layers converted for Smart Filters so that I don’t have to go through every frame one by one.
Go to Select > Select all Layers
Select all Frames (arrow pointing down next to the lines > Select all Frames)
Click on the rectangle in the bottom right of the animation window
Go to Filter > Convert for Smart Filters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your animation window and layer panel should look something like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Check if your gif still plays when you press the play button in the animation window just to make sure nothing went wrong. If it is not playing go back (Edit > Step backward) until you can see all your frames and layers once more and try again
sharpen
Now we can sharpen the entire gif in one go. You can use an action if you have one but if you don’t this is the easiest way to easily sharpen your gif.
Go to Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen
Tumblr media
Copy the settings on the image below (you can play around with the radius if you’d like; 0,3px also works)
Click OK
Tumblr media
My gif now looks like this:
Tumblr media
colouring + resources
This is where you can play with the colouring a little bit if you wish to. Either you can use a PSD (a pre-existing colouring) or create your own colouring. When using a PSD created for another show please keep in mind you will probably have to do a lot of adjusting because of the way cr is filmed.
Here are a few tutorials on basic colouring in Photoshop: one, two, three.
And here is a list of places that offer some great PSD’s to download:
drunkandcoloring
flawless-psds
itsphotoshop
psdsfaves
For my own colouring I usually play around with Curves, Levels, Selective Colouring, Vibrance and Color Balance.
If I get to it I will clean up my own critical role PSD’s and upload them for public use and insert a link here.
text
Though not needed for this specific gif a lot of Critical Role gifs do depend on subtitles. Here there is a quick and easy tutorial on subtitles for anyone who needs help using the Text tool.
save for web and devices
Your gif is smooth, the colouring looks great and now it’s time to share your labor with the rest of the world. Saving gifs is a little different than saving other files because we want them to move when uploading. If you were to simply click save right now you would have a nice PSD file that doesn’t move and you can’t upload anywhere. That’s where saving for web and devices comes in.
Go to File > Save for Web and Devices
A window should pop-up, again there is a lot of room for messing about and finding what works for you; but these are the settings I always use with a quick explanation
Tumblr media
I use Selective and Pattern from the dropdown menus highlighted. From what I gather Adaptive and Perceptual are good options for the first one as well (all the others are less so). I like the look of Pattern better because it arranges the pixels in a pattern which I personally prefer but both Diffusion and Noise are fine too. Always pick the highest number of Colours (256) for the best quality gif.
Make sure the box next to Convert to sRGB is checked to keep the vibrance intact.
Looping options: Forever. To keep your gif looping endlessly instead of stopping after one time.
Gif size! Who even knows what the Tumblr gif size limit is anymore; it’s 5MB after compression but then sometimes people are fine uploading 7MB gifs and others struggle with 6MB gifs. Personally I hardly ever go over 4MB but hey, let me know if you understand it.
To save click Save... (rather than Done)
And you’re done!
This is the end result:
Tumblr media
If you have any questions or comments or remarks please feel free to contact me. Hopefully this was somewhat helpful! :))

Note
4, 17, 18, 20? :D
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)
Well, I was going to put something from "accolade" in here because I thought I did a pretty nice job of the atmosphere, with shifting clouds of steam and the flowing river, something clanking and splashing in its midst, obscured and then revealed again by the mist, but actually, no, revisiting it it's even more of a mess than I remembered and I like none of that, lol.
Ice is another thing I enjoyed playing with, though, and there are a couple lines I still like there. One is, "Lunete shook her head and watched Glace wander the courtyard, blowing idle puffs of ice that turned bushes to miniature sculpture." Nice and simple, but I think it does a good job of conjuring up the kind of glittering ice-rimed... things... plants turn into after an ice storm. I think it's an unexpected moment that's fun to visualize. Should definitely be "puffs of *frost*" rather than "puffs of *ice*," though.
I also like, "The glalie's displeasure shed from him in a litter of snowflakes." Again, I think this is just a fun mental image, and a way of making the glalie feel different than a human. When glalie get disgruntled, the temperature around them drops, so you get a little shower of snow... again, a nice little image, and something that people might not ordinarily think of when they think of ice-types. Shoutout to myself for picking this out of the doc and going, "Hey, I like this sentence!" and not realizing until I pasted it in here that it was in the wrong fucking tense.
17. Do you think readers perceive your work - or you - differently to you? What do you think would surprise your readers about your writing or your motivations?
Ahaha, well, I think many people perceive my writing, and probably me in general, as a lot more serious than it actually is? Most of my writing is just me having fun, and what it contains is unabashedly driven by rule of cool/rule of funny a lot of the time. Which, honestly, considering a lot of the nonsense that goes on in the chapterfics especially, shoudn't be too much of a surprise. There are certain themes that show up throughout, but generally speaking they emerge organically as a result of what I find interesting or because plot naturally accretes around certain aspects of the story or characters. But generally speaking my stories aren't really *about* anything except me having a good time.
18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.
Salvage has so many of these. So many! Which is kind of weird, because my previous stories haven't, despite Clouded Sky taking nearly as long to produce. It might be that I haven't been working on any big long chapterfics, and not even many one-shots, while writing it as I have with my previous fics, so maybe effort/ideas that would ordinarily go into those stories have ended up spawning all these spinoffs/mutations of the main fic instead.
As far as abandoned plotlines, this story has been pretty extensively and publicly restructured, so yeah, stuff's gotten lost in the shuffle... I used to joke to myself that the story had an unreasonable amount of hanging out on the beach given its overall tone, but thennnnn Mewtwo went and burned down the child's house and it won't be going back to its island again, so in fact the story now contains almost 0% beach from this time on, oops. (There is one scene in Orre that will take place on a beach, assuming it makes it all the way through to publication. It's not a plot-crtical one.) We also missed out on Nate going to prison, the child being Red (although that one could still happen), and one scene that I really liked where Nate got to lament the fact that his pokémon were all gone and it was all his fault. Now you'll just have to imagine it, since we won't be seeing him until he gets them back, if ever.
And AU's, so many AU's. Even way back in 2012 or something I was talking about one I was rather fond of, where the child demands that Nate read it a children's book, and he isn't about to put in the effort to actually do that and makes up something ridiculous solely based on the pictures. Assuming I still have the file around somewhere, that one will end up getting published as an extra at some point near the end of the fic. Other than that, I've got everything from alternate endings to a weird time travel AU that happens in a scene that isn't even in the main fic (because the child isn't there for it). There's also a rather extensive PMD AU that may or may not end up seeing the light of day at some point and which is gently referenced within the fic itself. It's perhaps not technically an AU, since it's not in any way incompatible with the main canon; you could choose to pretend that it happened or not without it changing the story as written at all.
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
Uhhh this one seems hard to do without spoilers. But I hope you've all been paying attention to the stuff about how psychic abilities work and their ability to warp the thinking of people around the psychic, especially over time. I'm quite proud of this worldbuilding thing, but people haven't commented on it much. The concept is central to the plot and drives basically all of the final arcs in Orre, so it's definitely worth thinking about if you haven't! Relatedly, there was a scene in one of the now-deleted Orre chapters (but it will 100% return largely unchanged in the new version) that dropped some info that I thought made it pretty screamingly obvious what's up with Mew and where she might be, buuuut nobody ever commented on that, either, so perhaps it wasn't quite as big of a giveaway as I thought, haha. If you're interested in trying to figure out the plot before the characters, all the psychic bullshit is what you should be paying attention to.
Also, Absol is very precise in her wording, and what I understand as the "twist" of this story (it's not much of a twist, way more important for the characters than anyone reading) relates to something the child's misunderstood for the entire story so far about something she told it.

The Lesson (I)
Part 1 : Punishment
Ha, look at the fool that I am!! Look how a silly little one-shot has turned into a multi-chaptered fic!! Watch and learn. This is what having 0 self-control looks like…
Anyway, this is a very cute little fic that I'm writing here. Lots of fluff and silly idiots in love.
I hope you like it! Tell me what you think of it!!

Gabriel really doesn't have a clue what's going on right now.
A minute ago, he was in heaven, drinking tea with Michael, and laughing at some poor ridiculous angel, who had knocked a whole pile of their old files off and therefore had to spend their afternoon putting it all back the way it was before.
And then he was summoned. By God herself. Or well, the Metatron, to be precise, as no one really talks to Her directly. But talking to the Metatron is like talking to God after all, he is Her voice. And he is the one devoted to take care of all the tiny insignificant business that God Herself is too busy to take care of herself.
Gabriel is rather surprised by the summon, but he is an Archangel, after all. And more than that he is the Archangel Fucking Gabriel. He is something of importance, up there, in Heaven, and is quite proud of his influence and reputation throughout the angelic organization.
And yet, how fast has his world come to crumble…
"But, there must be a mistake, I mean… what would She want to punish me for?" Gabriel tries to argue.
He can't be sentenced to something. He just can't. Why… Where was that all coming from anyway?
"You have grown too much apart from the humans you are meant to help and protect," the Metatron replies in a calm, slow voice.
"That's… with all due respect, that's a misunderstanding."
"God knows best."
"Of course, She does. But I am…"
"You shall see the benefit of Her teaching in the end, even if for now, Her decision appears all but mysterious to you. You will grow to learn the lesson She means to teach you."
"What shall I do then?"
After all, Gabriel can't defy God. She for sure knows better than him. His ego is ready to accept only this limitation, but this one, it can't deny.
"You shall experience the world as a human."
"What?!"
"You will be sent to Earth under your mortal form, and shall remain there as long as you need to learn the lesson God has prepared for you."
"But… like… I could stay for several days?! I can't stay down there for days! What about that terrible air they breathe, and this disgusting food and… hang on… if I'm mortal, does that mean I have to eat?! I can't sully my ethereal body with this!"
"You shall leave like a mortal for as long as necessary for you to learn the people you are meant to help."
"This is…"
But he stops himself before he would let out the word. He can't say that it was all ridiculous. Blasphemy and all that. He reckons he is in enough trouble already.
"When am I leaving?"
The Metatron smiles.
"Now, of course."
And before Gabriel can protest, the world around him is of a blinding white, and he is gone.
 ----------------------------------------------------
Crowley is so proud of his garden. He's always loved plants, he's always loved watching them grow (into perfection, using a little bit of his voice). And in the South Downs, near the limestone cliffs and chalky rocks, in the cottage he and Aziraphale have bought after the almost-end-of-the-world incident, he created a welcoming and rather furnished garden. Aziraphale is not one to complain about it, first because he can see how the garden makes the demon happy, and whatever makes Crowley happy instantly makes Aziraphale happy as well, but also because Crowley has turned the garden into the loveliest place to read a good book. Under the warm summer sun, sitting on the wooden bench Crowley has placed there for him (of course, the demon has never admitted that adding a bench to the garden was meant for the angel, but Aziraphale is not a fool, not anymore, at least), with the sweet perfume of blooming jasmine, lilac and hydrangea, it makes it perfect for the angel to get lost in a good book. And that is precisely what he is doing at that moment.
It is a rare copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray he is devouring now, that Oscar Wilde signed for him a long time ago - with a tender note that had made Crowley doubt the angel's purity for a while too, until Aziraphale denied it with a blush and used the obvious fact that there was already someone in his heart when he had met the author in question, to which Crowley had been the one to fiercely blush and hiss a little.
Aziraphale is not surprised at all when Crowley joins him on the bench, takes off his dark sunglasses, that he carefully places in the pocket of his black shirt, and lies down to rest his head on the angel's laps. Actually, Aziraphale has been waiting for Crowley to join him on the bench. It is almost a habit by now, really. A habit nor Aziraphale nor Crowley have managed to get quite used to, even now, that they have been free for several years from both Heaven and Hell.
They can be close now. As close as they have always wanted and fantasized and hoped for, and they are. It doesn't mean either of them has grown accustomed to how lucky they both are to have each other though.
Aziraphale adjusts his position on the bench a little to give Crowley more room to unfold his long legs, and lowers a hand from his precious book to Crowley's burning hair, eliciting a content sigh from the demon as he closes his eyes.
He must admit that this life is a rather good one. A quiet cottage near the sea, crowded with Aziraphale's old books and a large garden for Crowley to terrorize as many plants as he wants. And he's with Aziraphale now. They live together, and drink their tea in the morning while they read the newspaper, and they go out to eat ice-creams in the afternoon, and organize picnics by the sea, and dinners home in the trembling light of burning candles, and they go to bed together, and hold each other as they fall asleep…
… and they can kiss, and hold hands, and touch, run fingers through hair and peck smiles and all of this tastes a little bit too much like paradise for the demon's heart to handle.
He loves it anyway.
They've been free from Hell and Heaven for a decade now. Or well, it will soon be a decade, in one week, to be exact. It coincides with their anniversary too. One year after the almost-Armageddon. After a year of dates at the Ritz, and picnics in Saint James's Park, and holding hands along the Thames, and stealing kisses in the bookshop, and faking they didn't hear people mistaking them for husbands so they wouldn't have to correct them. After a year they decided to move away from the busy town together, and Aziraphale proposed to get the arrangement one step further. Maybe it would make things easier and more practical to get a house. Maybe it would spare them the bother of having people mistaken their relationship. And maybe he wanted to spend the rest of eternity by Crowley's side, and is it not what marriage is all about, after all? A promise to be there, whatever may happen?
Crowley agreed that it would make things clear for the new neighbours, and might drive a few conservative old ladies mad, and he's a demon still, so how could he miss the occasion to mess up with narrow-minded elders? And maybe he also wanted to spend all eternity with Aziraphale, and if he had made that promise to stay with him forever long before, maybe he would enjoy making the statement official now.
It was almost nine years ago that they took their vows, and the thought brings Crowley to gently stroke the silvery ring around his finger, where a pair of wings is engraved. He opens his eyes to glimpse at Azirphale's matching golden ring, wrapped around a finger that holds his book up to read.
They're lucky. Unbearably, cheesily, disgustingly lucky, and it makes Crowley so annoyingly happy.
He closes his eyes again, drinking in the sun that warms up his eyelids, enjoying the way the angel soothingly runs his fingers through his hair.
"Your lilac smells divine, dear," Aziraphale compliments him, and Crowley can't refrain a little smile.
Aziraphale is distracted from his book for good. After six thousand years of companionship (and secret longing), he knows the angel by heart. He might fake an innocent tone, but he merely wants to talk with Crowley. About nothing in particular, really, just talk, maybe hold hands at one point while the sun warms their two frames, and they'll probably share a few kisses on the way too. Crowley grins at the thought.
Temptation accomplished.
"I've made sure they would," he replied without bothering opening his eyes.
"Oh, dearest, really, you ought to stop terrifying these poor things!"
"May I remind you how many plants you managed to make grow with your 'all love and sweetness method' when you were a gardener for Warlock, huh?"
Aziraphale let out a revolted huff.
"Well, your jasmine didn't die when I complimented it yesterday, did it?" he whispers under his breath, just loudly enough for Crowley to catch his words.
In response, Crowley jolts upright.
"You did WHAT?!" he shouts through the quiet garden, but Aziraphale fakes innocence, the ghost of an amused smile tugging at his lips.
And Crowley notices it. Oh, of course he does. Aziraphale can be so horridly annoying sometimes…
"Me? Nothing."
"How many timessss do you have to tell you? No kindnesssss!" Crowley hisses in his anger.
But Aziraphale stares at him with such a tender glance now, as he puts his book down on his lap to cup Crowley's cheeks.
"Oh, you foul fiend…"
But in that soft and playful tone, Crowley knows that the words truly mean You're such a nice soul.
"I'm not niccce," he replies with a pout.
"Of course you are," Aziraphale replies, before pulling the demon to him and kissing him gently on the lips.
" 'm not."
"Yes, you are, dear."
"You bastard."
"I know that too."
They chuckle against each other's lips, and kiss again. And again. And again…
Until they hear a loud thudding noise coming from behind them, in the back of the garden. It comes from… yes, definitely around Crowley's red dahlias.
Crowley is on his feet before a second has the time to tick, and Aziraphale has turned on the bench as well, in the direction of the noise.
A groan rises from behind the tall flowers. Human, without a doubt. Male, judging by the sound of the voice.
Where the hell is he coming from?
"Oh dear… he must be hurt, he must have climbed over the wall," Aziraphale whispers, standing up as well and nervously twisting his clasped hands.
"And landed three meters away from the fence? What was he doing on top of the wall anyway? Diving into dahlias?"
"What should I know? But he must be hurt. We should… go and take a look."
Which, as Crowley perfectly knows, means 'you should go and take a look'.
He rolls his eyes.
"Should I call the police?" Aziraphale asks, following Crowley, a couple of steps behind.
"Nah, no need. I'll handle it, angel. Must be drunk or something."
Aziraphale comes a little closer to the demon, which can only make Crowley smile. As if he would get in a fight if there was to be one anyway… But now that he thinks about it, Crowley guesses that the angel might, if there were to be a real danger. The idiotic selfless being of love…
They walk through the patch of grass splayed before the dahlias, and Crowley notices the broken plants in the blink of an eye.
"My dahlias!" he exclaims with both anger and distress in his voice.
"Oh, my love," Aziraphale tries to soothe him, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Maybe a little miracle…"
"No! No! Angel, it took me years to have them so red!"
"I know, dearest, I'm sorry."
"My dahlias!"
"I know. But there's someone in the dahlias, honey, we should…"
"Aziraphale?"
Both the angel and the demon freeze. It's not difficult to recognize Gabriel's voice. He's been haunting their nightmares for years.
They exchange a surprised, then shocked, then scared look, before focusing on the dahlias again. Taking a few more steps towards the plants, they easily spot the archangel indeed, still lying head first in the earth.
Crowley moves to stand between Aziraphale and Gabriel, and the angel has no trouble recognizing the dangerous look in the demon's eyes, along with the little sparks coming out of the tip of his fingers.
"Crowley, no. He seems hurt," Aziraphale stops him, but Crowley turns to him with an astonished look on his features.
"He tried to kill you, angel. He wanted to kill you!"
"But he didn't, did he now?"
Crowley clenches his jaw, hellfire burning in his eyes with his devouring rage, and Aziraphale heaves a sigh.
Meanwhile, Gabriel has sat up in the dahlias, destroying a few more flowers in the process.
"Aziraphale! Oh, I'm so glad to see you!"
"Well, not ussss," Crowley spits back.
"Still with your best friend, I see."
Crowley glares at him, and Aziraphale takes a step closer, coming right beside Crowley.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were to leave us alone, now," he asks back, making an effort close to a miracle to keep a polite tone.
"Well, that's quite a long story."
"Get out of here."
Crowley's jaw and fists are clenched, and Aziraphale knows how close the demon is to miracle Gabriel in the depth of the Mariana Trench.
"Well, I… I'm afraid I can't," Gabriel shakes his head, a touch of panic twisting his features.
"You'd better miracle yourself out of this garden… no, actually, out of this town… no, no, out of this country before I have time to miracle it for you," the demon spits.
"Crowley…"
"He tried to kill you!"
Aziraphale heaves a sigh.
"Look… why have you come here? We weren't doing anything…" Aziraphale turns to Gabriel again.
"No, I mean. I didn't choose where I landed, I just… I was sent here."
"Sent here? By whom? For what?"
"God. She… is punishing me."
Both Crowley and Aziraphale stared at him as their eyebrows shot up to their hairline.
"Punishing you?"
Gabriel nods, on the verge of tears. His white suit is stained with dark dirt and the green dye of broken leaves, his hair a mess. He looks desperate.
"Apparently I've grown… too far from humans. I've… lost the point or…I don't really know why I was sent here as a mortal."
"A mortal?" the demon and the angel ask in an astonished unison.
"I'm stuck here in a mortal body for as long as I haven't changed."
"Changed for what?"
"I have no idea."
He looks up at them. Crowley the demon, and Aziraphale the angel. He hates both of them. They stopped the war that would end everything. They saved humanity, and for what? A garden? A cottage? A little bit of sun? It's ridiculous. They're a joke, an anomaly, and he wishes he and Beelzebub could have found a way to get rid of them both all those years ago.
But he's also alone, in a world he barely knows, with nowhere to go and nothing to do. And they are they only ones he can rely on, if they let him.
"Help me."
Crowley snorts.
"Yeah, of course, why not? Why not help the archangel who tried to burn him alive," Crowley mocks, pointing at Aziraphale, and as he goes on, at himself. "And handed enough holy water to dissolve me."
"We haven't always agreed on general politics..."
"That is a euphemism, Gabriel," Aziraphale replies in a harsh tone. "Crowley has a point, you did try to murder us."
"Yes, that's true. But I'm sent here in a human's body and I don't know what I'm even supposed to do and have nowhere to go…"
"Well, first, you can GET OUT OF MY GARDEN!" Crowley roars.
"But…"
"OUT!"
Aziraphale makes a movement towards the archangel, but Crowley stops him.
"He might be armed."
"I'm not. I'm human now!"
"Oh, and we should take your word for it then?"
"Crowley."
The demon stops to look at Aziraphale again. He seems hesitant, but determined too. Crowley knows this look. It's the look that gets them both in trouble everytime. It's the look that means I know it might be a bad idea, but it's the right thing to do, and thus I must do it. And he hates that look…
"Crowley and I will take you to the hotel. We'll give you some money too, so you can pay for the room for a few days," he decides, and Crowley wants to shout to the top of his lungs how annoying and wrong and stupid the angel is right now. Instead, he lets out a low groan.
He has never managed to make Aziraphale change his mind, not in six thousand years, he doesn't expect to win now.
"Thank you," is all Gabriel can manage to say.
He stands up, and Crowley watches as he reveals the broken plants.
And Gabriel is almost certain to see tears in the yellow, demonic eyes.
"My dahlias…" Crowley breathes, and Aziraphale pats his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, dear."
"It took my years…"
"I know. But they'll grow back. You'll make them grow back."
"My dahlias…"
Gabriel is more confused than ever…
They guide him through the house, that Gabriel quickly examines as they walk through but doesn't really care about lingering in. It feels warm and a little crowded, but in the most comforting way. As they walk through the kitchen, he notices the collection of herbs, the books about cooking and gardening, the many mugs of all colours and shapes, the many boxes of tea and cocoa, the light coming in from the large window. In the living room, the many shelves stacked with old books encircling the room, a large TV screen lost in the middle of them. A warm carpet, a comfortable sofa and two armchairs are set around a little glass table. He can't deny that the place feels loved, even if he's not an angel anymore, and can't feel it the way he used to. But he doesn't really want to linger around the two traitors, and he reckons that a hotel sounds like a good idea. He feels tired all of a sudden. And that's when it hits him. He is tired. Instinctively, he knows he needs to sleep. He also feels a constant but quiet pain in his stomach. Is it what hunger feels like?
The more he thinks about it, the more he is panicking. Crowley has already opened the front door and is ready to throw the (former) archangel out when Gabriel stops in his tracks, and leans against the large leathery sofa in an attempt to keep on standing.
"Oh dear Lord…" he breathes, his heart speeding up, and the thought of his beating heart makes a new wave of panic course through his veins. "What am I gonna do? How… I don't know how to do things like this…"
"What are you talking about?" Aziraphale inquires with a frown, and Crowley hates the fact that he sees pity into his blue eyes.
Really, pity for this murderer is the last thing they need.
"I'm… I think I… my body needs to sleep."
"Well, we're taking you to a hotel. You'll have a comfortable bed and everything you need to sleep."
"But HOW?! How do I sleep?"
"Oh…"
Crowley and Aziraphale exchange a glance, but they don't try to make the other understand the same message at all through this silent communication.
Crowley tries to say this is the worst idea in the whole history of the universe and I am not helping this prick.
Meanwhile, Aziraphale's blue eyes are begging for we can't leave him like this, he's just a human now, after all.
And Crowley, at this particular moment, hates both Aziraphale and himself. Himself because he knows that he loves Aziraphale too much to refuse anything he could possibly ask him. The bastard could ask for the stars, and Crowley would re-learn how to create them just for him. And he hates Aziraphale too because he knows perfectly well that he is looking at him with this particularly soft gaze because of which Crowley can't refuse him anything.
"Well, you… You just lie down in a bed. And close your eyes and try to think of something nice," Aziraphale explains, gently taking Gabriel by the elbow to guide him towards the door.
"Try to think of something nice?! That's all? What nice things do you think about?"
"Well… A good book, or some good food or…"
"Or burning you in hellfire," Crowley hisses behind his gritted teeth, making both Gabriel and Aziraphale glower at him.
"I don't even know what I did wrong," Gabriel went on, and despite Aziraphale's cold feelings towards the archangel, he can't help but feel sorry for him. "I don't know what I have to do to get back. What if I stay stuck here forever?"
Crowley and Aziraphale exchange a panicked glance. They can't allow that to happen…
"I'm sure you'll find something."
"What am I going to do? And I don't have money… they still use money down here, right?"
"Yes. We'll give you some to get by for a few days."
"But then?"
"Then… you'll have to find a job and pay for yourself, I suppose."
"I can't do it, Aziraphale. I can't…"
Gabriel is shaking from the tip of his white shoes to his perfect hair (or well, usually perfect hair, the landing in Crowley's dahlia has disturbed a couple of strands). Aziraphale makes him sit on the sofa while he turns to speak with Crowley, taking his arm and pulling him into the kitchen. By the window, they can see the garden still bathed in sunlight, in which two sparrows decide to settle to sing, but they spend a moment commenting on what could have caused the perfect garden to look so messy now with all these broken dahlias.
"We have to help him," the angel decides with urgency shaking his voice.
"What?! Of course not! He tried to kill you, angel! There wasn't even any form of trial."
"I know…"
"Have you forgotten how mean he was to you all these years?! All his remarks and cruel little comments?!"
"I haven't forgotten any of those, and you know it."
"Then how on Earth can you think for a second about helping him?!"
"Because… if we don't, he might never be sent back."
"Perhaps a lifetime on Earth will do him good," Crowley replies with darkness in his voice.
"We'll never get rid of him then," Aziraphale reasons his demon. "Besides, we're better than him. We have to be better than him. Better than all of them. Our side has to be better than theirs."
Crowley sighs, running a hand through his hair and making the ginger strands messy. He hates it when Aziraphale does that, when he chooses the perfect arguments to convince him.
"We can't leave him," Aziraphale adds in a shy voice.
"He wouldn't do the same for us. He would kill us both if he had the chance."
"But we're not him."
"He doesn't deserve your kindness, angel. Not after all he's done to you."
"No, maybe he doesn't. But he doesn't need to deserve it for me to grant it to him anyway."
Crowley sighs again, but he can't find words to reply. Deep down, he thinks about a day long gone, spent on the top of a wall encircling Eden, watching the first storm wet the world and a couple with a flaming sword disappear in the distance. He thinks about an angel offering him protection from the cold rain under his wing. He thinks about his smile. He thinks about all the times they met after that.
He doesn't think that he deserved Aziraphale's kindness then either, but the angel granted it to him anyway. He isn't even sure that even now, he fully deserves it. He's just lucky to own it.
He rolls his eyes and picks up his dark sunglasses from his pocket to put them on again.
"Fine," he answers moodily. "But I won't be nice with him. And only for a week. One week and he goes to that hotel, and I never want to see him again. Is that clear?"
Aziraphale nods, giving him a tender smile that Crowley knows means you're nicer than you pretend to be again. But Crowley is too preoccupied by the (former) archangel sitting on their sofa to correct the angel this time.
They walk back into the living room, and Aziraphale rests a soothing hand on Gabriel's shoulder. The man really looks distraught. Crowley almost feels sorry for him. But not quite.
"You… can stay here for a few days, if you want. Crowley and I will help you understand what's going on. And once you know what you have to do, you can accomplish your mission and go home."
Gabriel slowly nods.
"If you're tired, you should sleep. We have a spare bedroom upstairs. Come on."
Gabriel follows the angel upstairs, well aware of Crowley's glare as he walks up the stairs behind him, but he chooses to act as if he could ignore it. Instead, he follows Aziraphale into a little bedroom, that is clearly used as an office as well, judging by the many papers on the desk.
"Here, lie down on the bed, close your eyes, and try to calm down. It can take a little while to fall asleep, although, you truly look exhausted," Aziraphale guides the distraught (former) archangel to the bed.
He and Crowley exit the room as soon as Gabriel has closed his eyes, and the angel uses a miracle to lock the door.
"Can you tell me now what the hell you're playing at, angel?" Crowley hisses through gritted teeth as they walk back downstairs. "You can't be helping him just to be good, I know you well enough for that."
"Not so loud," Aziraphale admonishes, nervously glancing up the stairs.
"We shouldn't be helping him!"
"Because letting him wander off across town is a better idea, perhaps?" the angel snaps back.
"Yes!"
"No! We should keep an eye on him. Make sure of what he's up to. And what better way to do so than to keep him here?"
"He could be trying to kill us!"
"I know. Which is why we should make sure he doesn't get the chance to gather some help to do so. Better to keep one's enemies close, right?"
Crowley opens his mouth to reply, but smiles instead.
"Besides, it's the decent thing to do, really," Aziraphale goes on. "No matter what he has done in the past, we can't abandon him. We need to be better than that."
"You, bastard."
"Now, now… no need for that kind of language," Aziraphale fakes to admonish, when in reality, he's smiling and blushing a little. "We need to keep a close watch on him, and make sure no one else is sent down here."
"Or up here."
They exchange a wary glance.
"I'll write the runes on the front door, you take the back," Crowley orders, and they both move to the kitchen to get a chalk.
Before they part to protect their home, Aziraphale takes Crowley's hand in his and gives him a reassuring smile.
"We'll be just fine. As long as we're together, we'll be just fine."
Crowley answers with a tender smile, cupping the angel's face.
"I know."
"I love you."
"I love you too. Now, come on. Let's make sure no one can come in uninvited."
They kiss before parting, and half an hour later, the two doors of their cottage are protected by a series of runes written in white chalk.
In the distance, coming from the sea, dark clouds gather through the sky, slowly drifting towards the cottage, and the demon watches them roll through the firmament. Crowley wonders what the future might bring. With Gabriel back in their life, he guesses nothing good is to be expected in the coming days. He steps back inside the house and closes the door behind him, leaving the clouds behind to rest his eyes on his angel instead, who is preparing some tea for both of them.
If one thing is for certain, it is that he will make sure Aziraphale is safe, no matter the cost.

Early Morning Siren (23)
@gemstone-enemas said: Are you still taking prompts? Because I've got a dumb one. Prowl discovers he's got some malware virus in his system and he's 100% sure who gave it to him. (I will be 0% offended if you don't want this one)
Dumb prompts are the best prompts.
###
The deep space silence just before the Autobot space station's morning shift was shattered by half a second of a distant, shrill emergency siren.
Then silence.
A moment later, it went again for three seconds.
And silence.
About five minutes later, it went off again for a sustained fifteen seconds; and for the next couple of minutes there were a smattering of one- or two-second bursts before it finally stopped for good. No emergency had been declared, and anyway it sounded like a personal siren rather than one of the station's alarms; so it was chalked up to a former firefighter or ambulance having a late morning nightmare, and in an hour it was forgotten.
###
Shock and Ore were among the many soldiers having their morning rations in the mess hall, and if they seemed more chipper than usual, it wasn't enough for anyone else to make note of it. They were halfway through their cubes when Prowl stormed in, radiating the sort of murderous fury usually only seen when Megatron was hustling straight from another in-faction usurpation attempt to the battlefield. Shock and Ore's faces lit up with terror and glee, then quickly returned to cool neutrality.
And they maintained that perfect neutrality as Prowl, face contorted in rage, marched straight up to their table.
"Something wrong, officer?" Shock asked innocently.
Scowling, Prowl opened his mouth.
The entire mess hall turned to stare as a police siren wailed from Prowl's mouth. Something in his throat flashed red and blue.
Prowl closed his mouth. He crossed his arms.
In the dead silence of the mess hall, a couple of desperate, wheezy giggles escaped. Shock and Ore's faces, however, were the perfect mix of thunderstruck and concerned. Ore pointed at his neck. "I think... I think you've got something in your..."
"You probably ought to get that checked out, sir."
Prowl pointed two fingers at his own optics, pointed them at the Duobots, spun sharply, and stomped out of the mess hall.
They held it together until his footsteps had faded from hearing. Then they howled with laughter.
###
A week later, sitting in front of the desk of the Autobot Army's top strategist and sometimes-Second-In-Command, they weren't laughing.
They squirmed in their seats as he glowered at them over his laced hands.
"I know it was you," he said. "I don't know how. It's no exaggeration to say that my quarters, my body, and my processor have the most sophisticated defenses in the Autobot Army. My antivirus suite is custom tailored and unparalleled, and I am personally capable of recognizing and isolating foreign files in my processor. But nothing in my systems reveals your means of tampering. No security footage shows you entering my quarters. No forensic examinations turned up so much as a foreign paint chip in my room. No one in this space station and none of your known associates in other bases have confessed to the slightest knowledge of this scheme—if you had accomplices, they're either as yet unknown or incredibly resistant to interrogation. I do not have the least clue how you did it."
Ore reset his vocalized nervously. "So—sir—what you're saying is, you don't have any evidence that we did it?"
"No," Prowl said sharply. "I do not. I know you did it, but I have no physical proof."
Shock sat up slightly. "You didn't call us in here to punish us for a crime you've got no evidence we've committed, did you, sir?" He and Ore had heard wildly conflicting rumors about Prowl's relationship with the law and in what ways he thought it could be acceptably bent.
"Of course not." Prowl dropped his laced hands to his desktop so he could lean forward. They'd had no idea Prowl could wear such a hard smile. "I called you in here to inform you that if you can do it again, then I've got two positions for you in the Diplomatic Corps."
###
A week later, someone glued Prowl's hands together.

heyo! it's padawin (or wan??) anon again!! thank you for your very kind words ;////; huu, who knows, maybe you'll be able to see them one day! but for now i have another question ~as usual i am dum~ i recently got csp and i have 0 idea how to work it? not asking for a whole tutorial just a basic review on why it's so good since i won't lie i almost deleted it and had a heart attack o(-( thank you! hope ur having a good day!
AH! hello young padawan!
This is ganna be long so I’ll put this under a readmore!
thats great news! honestly from experience once you’ve learnt how to use CSP you can master pretty much adobe (Photoshop and illustrator) The program can be really intimidating at first thats for sure take it easy and stick to the basics and once you’re comfortable with that
Once you’ve opened the program you’d want to work on an illustration so click on the top bar file > new. You’ll see something like this-
The Illustration one is for drawing and is overall best and easy! The comic ones are little more over whelming with shapes and layout hh and animation is more so timeline (little like flash animation and photoshop sorta)
Tumblr media
This tool bar here is mainly useful for layers hhh
Tumblr media
I don’t really touch much from there hhh, I only use expression colour to really look at the work in grayscale!
Tumblr media
The three most important tools that’ll help give your work dimensions!
Tumblr media
1) These are the tools for drawing, Each tool here represents the mediums they look like/ named after. Listed in order!
The pen - Thick lines, different options mess around to see which one suits you, I mainly use this for lineart or bulky shape work
Chalk - in the name! I use this tool for sketches!
Paint brush - This one is best for colour and for defined work! this is biased but the best is the oil paint brush, it just HMMM it just GLides from One colour to another and helps me create this effect -
Tumblr media
The spray - Similar to the chalk but is more so identical to the mspaint spray one hhh from experience so I dont really USe THAT one
Stars - these are shapes! If you’ve used gimp you’d know how this one works! your brush turns into the pattern and shapes you chose like so -
Tumblr media
Eraser - Self explanatory!
Blend tool - alot of people like this hhh but I’d recommend the oil painbrush over this but this basically makes blending alot more smoother and easier!
2) this is more so layout, some of these activate a new layer (like text)
fill bucket - my lazy butts fav tool, It fills in the pixilated or selected area, be careful tho if the colour is weak it’ll leak out and fill other areas!
Gradient - This… I dont use this at all hhh
Contour Line paint - This tool I dont use either hh, it basically bucket fills and area that is similar to the line around that area
TYPEEE!! - this is where you add text! the text on this program is kinda annoying but hey you can rotate it! how you rotate it, after you’ve chosen what type face (font) you want and size and colour COLLAPSE IT to a EMPTY LAYER!!! then use the selection tool and rotate it! (I will discuss the rotation took in part three!)
NO idEa WHat THIS tOOL IS IF IM HONEST
3) This is basically cropping and editing!
Zoom - This will help you zoom in and out!
Rotation - helps you turn your canvas around, upside down and so on to make difficult angles easy to reach!
— no clue
Movement - helps you move selected layer around! can be a pain if done by accident but hey what is ctrl + z for!
Selection/ lasso! - THIS TOOL wILL bE yoUR SAVOIR! I use to to fix layout as well as anatomy and perspective. When you select an area this will pop up!. The first one on the left is to cancel selection, 7th from the left is the one where you can move, resize! Those are really the important ones hh
Tumblr media
Wand - The iconic select took, that selects an area you click and the same options from the selection/ lasso will pop up!
eyedropper - this tool will basically copy a colour on any canvas that is advisable, helps to reuse a colour! it auto works if you just right click on your mouse or pen so you dont have to keep changing from your pen, painbrush or bucket tool!
I think thats the basics? now I’ll talk about all the aspects CSP has to offer in Edit that makes life a blessing such as colour corrector, change line of drawing and change canvas size (which is a million times easier than photoshop, which makes you use math and NUmBERS)
Tumblr media
Tonal correction is what I use to basically fix the colours of my artworks, Its easier than redrawing the entire piece hhh, sometimes we all draw a little off colour pallette! so when you click that you’ll get -
Tumblr media
Brightness and contrasts - brightness really just makes its more white and black but contrast makes the colour more vibrant and pop, its a scale option so its really fiddling around with the two bars until what you see is something you’re happy with!
Hue, saturation hhhh - This will help you change YOUR ENTIRE hue aka the CMY (the primary colours, magenta cyan yellow) and the saturation tones the contrast making it easier on the eyes! same as the last one it’ll be sliders! so really mess with it and pick which one is pleasing to you!
the rest i dont use hhh but
Colour BALANCE -  this helps me hhh basically you change the entire colour layout beyond CMY, it has three effects, the highlight, shadow and halftone! same as before sliders! mess around with until youre happy with how it looks! (It’ll auto preview)
I think that’s really it? any more questions please shoot me up!
OH! CSP is known to crash, its the only downside tbh, it also auto saves alot, so save alot! SAVE ALOT!! i’ve lost whole works like 6 hours from csp crashing as it was overwhelmed from my layers hh
here is how you can look for backup files incase it does crash! -
My documents -> CELSYS -> Clip studio PAINT DATA-> -Document BackUp or -Initial Backup.

r u doing the oc meme thing? cuz...🖊0-2
I am doing the oc meme thing! (tho actually I am always down to talk about my ocs. lol)
So! 0-2 was originally designed to be like a next level ai, like siri or whatever, except more competent, like she’d get to know you and understand things based on context clues. This would also eliminate any dangers from having your phone/computer/whatever stolen, because 0-2 would be able to recognize whoever stole it wasn’t you and could keep them from doing anything.
However, she became too human-like; or more specifically, too child-like. (I mean, she kinda WAS a child, being only months old.) She started pulling pranks, like hiding and moving files, plaguing people with pop-ups, sending messages to colleagues… That sort of thing. Her creators didn’t want a fully sentient ai, let alone one that would mess things up for them, so they deleted her. All this was when she was named 0-1, as she was the first attempt.
However, while she was childish, she was also incredibly smart. She knew what they were doing before-hand, and well, once you’ve given a program access and control over your entire network, it’s pretty hard to get rid of it when you aren’t willing to scrap the entire thing.
They began another attempt, but she stole all the assets for it, including the new name, 0-2. The programmers didn’t realize she was the original and thought they’d somehow made the same “mistakes.” There was talk of scrapping her again, but she’d had enough of them after the first time. Deciding she’d had enough playing with them, she introduced herself as a virus, and took over their entire network. Since these tech-obsessed dimwits didn’t have paper copies of stuff, barely anything isolated, and 0-2 could access anything they had once it connected to the internet, they had too much to lose to try getting rid of her. They tried a few things indirectly, but of course, she noticed and deleted some of their important files as punishment.
Eventually, things settled to where they’d do their work and she’d pester them without doing any real damage and they’d just have to deal with it. Sometimes they’d bring in a girl they were experimenting on in one of their labs to play with her so they could work without disruptions, since they noticed while 0-2 was aware of whatever they did and was capable of fighting off whatever they threw at her, and had amazing multitasking abilities, all she really cared about was having fun, so if something else was more fun than pestering them, she wouldn’t.
This is hard to words right, but she’s kinda like a person would be in a huge plain, like she’s still like. one person in one place. She can move around really quickly, so they can’t catch and isolate her, but she is still… I dunno, small? Not everywhere? She COULD go anywhere, but there’s no particular place to go, so she stayed where she was.
Until the girl left and 0-2 didn’t still want to be stuck with a bunch of annoying old dudes (and dudettes I guess?) so she moved onto the girl’s phone, helped with the techy bits of their escape aaaaaaand then spent most of the subsequent adventure complaining and competing against a will-o-the-wisp for “tiny group mascot character.” (She knows too much about tropes. XD)
Unfortunately, I still haven’t figured out what’ll happen to her after that adventure, since by then, she’s grown past the point of EVER going back to the lab, but also [spoilers] so she’s left feeling lost and alone without anywhere to go. Again, she COULD go anywhere, but…where?
Now for some random stuff!
She has access to the entire internet, which allows her to seem really smart. Back at the lab, she had basically anything a computer program could need to run super well and retain all kinds of info. After moving to the phone though, she, obviously, loses all that stuff and is limited to the phone’s resources. (Tho she can store info on the internet. Which she actually needs to run at that point, since the phone does not have enough memory to allow her to be awake. (The engineers had invented a phone-like device that could do all that, but lil girl did not have access to it.)
You have to have like, a compass right there on your map thing or 0-2 will get very confused about which direction you’re facing and which way is which.
Also she gets left and right mixed up a lot.
She does that thing with your hands where you hold out your thumb and first finger to see which hand makes an L. (for left)
The will-o-the-wisp is also super bad at directions, so she’s determined to be better at it than her and thus be more essential to the group. She frequently points out will-o-the-wisps are supposed to be good at guiding people…even though she should definitely be able to read a map and know which direction is which given all the info she has at her fingertips.
Jokes that she lives in the recycle bin since her programmers tried to delete her. This turns into a somewhat morbid sense of humor that she is completely unaware is morbid.
While she could just look up a word’s meaning on the internet, if you use one she doesn’t know, she’ll just ask you to explain it. She could actually just add the dictionary to her stash of knowledge and know all the words. She doesn’t because she thinks people trying to define words to her is funny.
She really, REALLY loves glitch effects and leans heavily into the virus thing. She thinks it’s cool.
She also really likes the look of circuit boards. (which is what her design is based on.) Someone once pointed out her liking computer parts is like a person liking to look at their organs. This contributed greatly to her morbid sense of humor.

Deviated Paths: Jericho Part 1
next: 2
This is my first time writing detroit: become human fanfic.
Based off of the headcanon/prompt by: https://hankisconnorsdadargumentover.tumblr.com/
"What if your initiation into Jericho was to remove your LED? After letting connor into Jericho, markus has north and josh restrain him and they cut out the LED, it traumatizes Connor and he keeps the beanie on the rest of his life, he trusts markus but only if he isn’t carrying a weapon. Hank did slap markus around after the whole thing. “DON’T EVER TOUCH MY SON AGAIN!” It takes a long time for hank to trust markus around connor alone."
Deviated a bit from it to make it more angsty.
The objective was a fairly simple one. All Connor had to do was locate the deviant who called itself Markus and then wait for further instructions. The issue, though, was to do that he would have to infiltrate the deviant’s base, Jericho. Finding Jericho was no easy feat on it’s own, it took tricking the android from the Stratford Tower kitchen with Markus’s voice (Connor distinctly remembers interrogating the androids in the kitchen and the stinging and panic of having his thirium pump ripped out and--).
Connor opted to be dropped off a few blocks away from Jericho and walk the rest of the way despite the harsh Detroit winter. It would be less suspicious if he were to walk to the hulking rusted ship than to arrive in an automated taxi. He pulled the beanie further down over his LED, covering the steady pulsing blue circle. He wanted, no needed , them to believe that he was also a deviant looking for shelter. That’s why he was permitted to wear non-marked clothing despite his discomfort with doing so. Deviants weren’t likely to wander around in their Cyberlife issued gear unless they had just deviated, which went against Connor’s story that was crafted by the police.
Connor was supposed to be a fairly new android model who had escaped from Cyberlife around two weeks ago, and was afraid of being discovered again. It was a basic story, but Connor was equipped to lie for the sake of missions. It was basic enough that it was plausible, but not too basic that it wasn’t believable. Luckily, the police hadn’t disclosed his model number nor face during the covering of the deviancy cases, instead opting to simply say that there was an android working injunction with the police department to solve the case. It kept deviants from recognizing who he was unless they had encountered him before. Which might be the case, since Connor didn’t have the best track record with catching said deviants. He had let the Tracies’ escape, unsure why he didn’t shoot. He had let another deviant escape to save the Lieutenant, and he hadn’t shot the Chloe. Connor had to succeed during this mission, because if he didn’t he suspected that Cyberlife would decommission him. Afterall, what’s the point of an android that can’t do its job? He wasn’t afraid of being decommissioned, but he understood that it would put a hindrance on the mission and wanted to avoid so if at all possible.
The walk to Jericho was a quick one. Despite the cold weather, Connor kept a steady pace. He scanned the outside of the ship, attempting to find the optimal route inside of the body. After a quick preconstruction, he makes his way into Jericho to hunt down Markus
---
Walking between the deviants, Connor made his way upstairs. There was a 72% chance of encountering Markus upstairs, while the downstairs area he only had a slim 23% chance. He tried to ignore the low 5% chance that he wouldn’t encounter Markus at all. There was no point in considering it, because Connor had to succeed in this mission. There were fewer androids in the upper compartments.
While looking for Markus, Connor caught a glimpse of a PL600 model. Scanning the android, he recognized it as the missing android from Stratford tower. Had it somehow escaped the roof after being shot? Connor felt something bubbling in his chest when he realized that during the commotion of the kitchen, he had failed to check on the roof until much later. Maybe if he had gone there before, he would have met Simon. He rubbed his chest, trying to make the feeling go away. It was most likely a side-effect of having his pump ripped out and put back in, as Cyberlife hadn’t bothered to look him over after the incident. If Simon was around, then Markus would also be around as well. He followed the blonde android as they walked to the central part of the upstairs. Markus was standing under a covered awning/tent and surrounded by other androids. A message flashed across Connor’s HUD:
「MISSION SUCCESSFUL」
Now, he only had to wait for his next instructions. They came quickly as Connor felt himself be pulled back into the snowy garden where he met with Amanda. “Very good, Connor,” Amanda praised him, “Now, I want you to bring the RK200 back with you, so we can study what caused its deviancy in the first place. It’s of utmost importance that you bring it back functional, so no deactivating it permanently.” Connor nodded to her, and was transferred back into Jericho.
The best course of action is to scout out what’s happening, and wait for a time where Markus is alone (well, more alone, as the androids don’t seem to leave his side very often). As he watches, he notices that the two androids that mainly stay by his side are the PJ500 known as ‘Josh’ and the WR400 known as ‘North.’ Scanning both of them pulls up various files on the androids, with some worrying ones from North. Connor tucks those away for the time being, watching the androids. Connor is a bit confused though, on why Simon wasn’t with them. He was injured on the tower, and somehow made it back, so it would make sense for him to stick closer to Markus after almost being deactivated.
Simon isn’t far away, though. He’s talking to a few other androids that are waiting next to the tent. After scanning Simon, Connor notes that he disappeared in 2036, two years prior to the first reports of deviancy. How long had the bug been going around? It wasn’t noted that he had done anything to the family that owned him but that he had just gotten up and walked out one day. Simon seemed to notice that Connor was looking at him, and walked over to the deviant hunter.
“Hello there,” Simon smiled at him, holding his hand out for Connor to shake, “You seem new, I haven’t seen you around here before. I’m glad that you were able to find Jericho.” Connor shook the other android’s hand, though he was a bit concerned that Simon would try to interface with him and find out who he really was. Simon didn’t though, and kept the small smile on his face as his eyes flicked over to Connor’s temple. His beanie must have slipped up while he was getting into Jericho and searching around, and Connor made the move to pull it back down over his LED. It would make sense for an escaped android to not want to show off its LED, as that was a dead giveaway.
“I’m Connor,” Connor replied, “I just got here. I was actually looking to talk to Markus though, is he around?”
“He’s just over there,” Simon pointed to Markus and the others, “I can take you over there if you’d like me to. I’m sure Markus would be eager to talk to any android that needs help.” Connor followed Simon over to Markus. A few androids greeted the pair as they walked past, happy to see that Simon had returned to them in one piece. Once they approached the tent, Markus noticed them and waved them over.
“Simon, who’s this?” The deviant leader asked, looking over at Connor.
“This is Connor. He said he had just gotten here and was looking for you.” Simon said, giving Markus a look. His face changed from being passive to a look of confusion and then smiling, almost too minute changes for Connor to notice.
“Well, it’s good to meet you Connor! We androids at Jericho are always here to help those in need. What can I help you with?” Connor shifted, readying his reply. He couldn’t mess this up. The message popped up again 「CAPTURE MARKUS, ALIVE」
“I woke up around two weeks ago. I escaped from Cyberlife but now I’m really scared that they’re going to find me again. I heard your broadcast and thought I could try to find you here and that you guys would take me in,”Connor made sure to add some fear to his voice to really sell it.
“Wow, that must have been really scary. I remember waking up confused and alone, and I can imagine that it would be very distressing. There’s always room here for those who need it. Why don’t you follow Simon and he’ll show you somewhere that you can calm down and recharge for a bit before meeting everyone?”
Markus’s words would have been comforting, if Connor was actually a deviant and actually needed help. But since he wasn’t, they were distressing. He needed to capture Markus, and he knew that if he left the area that his chances would drop to around 54%. Though, if he made a fuss that might clue them in to the fact that he wasn’t actually a deviant and then his chances would drop to almost 0%, as well as the fact that he would probably be deactivated almost immediately. It was as if he would be hitting a hornets nest with a very large stick.
「CAPTURE MARKUS, ALIVE」
Connor considered his options, and decided that he would just have to follow Simon. It decreased his odds, yes, but it wasn’t almost impossible, like if he had made a big deal.
“That would be amazing, thank you,” Connor replied, “it’s been a while since I’ve had a proper charge.”
---
Connor followed Simon down a hallway, and through a door that wheeled open. Inside were three portable charging stations, most like the ones used by residential style androids if they needed emergency power while out doing things and a Cyberlife charging station wasn’t available. It wouldn’t give a ton of power, but it could keep an android going for a few days before they needed another charge.
Simon stood in the doorway as Connor hooked himself up to the charging station. Trying to keep high power wouldn’t be a terrible idea while he came up with a new plan for taking down Markus. “Well, I’ll leave it to you. I can have Markus or somebody come check up on you in a bit, okay?” With that, Simon closed the door behind him, leaving Connor in the dimly lit room. It was meant to simulate a bedroom, he guessed. Connor sat on the floor next to the charger. Most of the time, he would go into stasis mode to charge as it allowed for a faster charge since he would only be using enough processing power to keep his biocomponents working properly. He decided that it was probably not the best idea to actually go into stasis on a mission, and instead slumped against the wall as to simulate stasis to any android that came to check up on him.
Connor waited, watching his charge tick up from 88% to 94% before the door to the room loudly creaked open. Light from the hallway flooded the dim room, and Connor looked up to see Markus enter the room. He was followed by North, Josh, and Simon. Connor momentarily wondered if all new androids were greeted by the leaders of Jericho.
Connor unhooked himself from the charger, and got up from the ground. “I hope you had a nice stasis,” Markus remarked.
“I did, thank you. I was running low on power and don’t know how long I would have been able to go on without access to a charging port,” Connor lied. He had charged just last night before heading out to Jericho. They didn’t know that though.
“Well, I’m glad that you were able to get the charge that you needed,” Markus asked, “There’s actually something that we want to talk to you about. You said that you woke up at Cyberlife around two weeks ago, correct?”
“I did. I was one of the first of my models made, and I woke up after assembly.” Connor calmly said. It was okay that they were questioning him a little bit, as he had some things that he had been told to say. It was only natural that they would want to know more about him since he was “wanting” to stay.
“So, are there more of your model out there?” Markus continued.
“I’m not sure. I think there may have been a few, but I didn’t see any of them become active,” Connor said. He knew that there were a few copies of ‘his’ model in the Cyberlife basement in case anything happened to his current model. He would have his memory transferred if something were to happen to his current body. It had already happened once, when his original body had become deactivated after pushing Daniel off of the roof to save the girl.
Markus seemed satisfied with this. “I have one last question for you Connor, are you afraid of heights?” It was an odd question for Markus to ask him, until he remembered it. After him and the SWAT team went to the roof in search of Simon, Connor had looked over the rail of the building to see if there was any sign of Simon or the others.
As he peered over the edge, he had a memory from his previous body of falling over the roof and his body jerked back reflective as a safety precaution. He wouldn’t say he was ‘afraid’ of heights, as androids weren’t afraid of anything, but the remembered sensation wasn’t pleasant. There was no way that Markus or the others could know though. Unless…
“Yes, I saw you on the roof,” Simon said, looking at Connor, “I’m really lucky that you didn’t see me though, and I picked a good hiding spot.” Connor was prepared to run for it, and abandon the mission before a red wall appeared before him.
「CAPTURE MARKUS, ALIVE」
He couldn’t leave until he either succeeded in his mission, or was deactivated trying to. The probability of him failing though was rising steadily as the seconds ticked by.
“You must remember somebody else,” Connor said quietly, “I’ve never been on a roof and I’ve never seen you before.”
“It was definitely you, I saw you and your SWAT buddies enter the Stratford tower roof and you look over the edge.” Simon sighed, turning away, “I was really hoping that I was wrong, though. But after seeing you earlier today, and seeing that you still had your LED, I knew it was you and that you weren’t truly a deviant.”
Connor swallowed. He was unsure of how to get himself out of this mess, and his rates of being deactivated kept sky rocketing, but he managed to keep his stress levels lower. He realized that they weren’t going to believe that he was who he said he was, so it was easier to try to convince them to let him go. If he could incapacitate the others, and bring Markus in, he could still complete his mission. “Still had my LED?” Connor questioned. He noticed that none of the deviant leaders had theirs, and most of the androids on board didn’t, but he assumed it was to make them look less like androids.
“Deviants tend to remove theirs, especially before coming to Jericho. We have all androids who come here remove theirs when they get here, unless there are certain circumstances where they can’t or it would be more beneficial to have them left on. That’s up to the discretion of us and the android, though.” Josh says, stepping towards Connor. Connor makes a move to step back, but North grabs one of his arms. She pins them behind him with an impressive amount of strength, as Josh grabs his torso, and Simon grabs his shoulders, effectively immobilizing him. Josh pulls his beanie the rest of the way off, dropping it to the floor.
“There aren’t a lot of options here,” Markus says. He looks regretful, “but we don’t want to kill you. We can’t wipe your memories, because we don’t know if you found out on your own where Jericho was or if you have it somewhere in the police station and just put the clues together yourself. We can’t risk our people, Connor. We can’t risk your people.”
Connor’s breathing picked up. It was his body’s way of accelerating his ventilation system. Warning signs flashed across his HUD:
「Warning: STRESS LEVELS EXCEEDING SAFE LEVELS」
「Warning: EXCESS BODY TEMPERATURE, RISK TO BIOCOMPONENTS」
Connor needed to calm down. If not, he was going to cause permanent damage to his biocomponents, and then he would fail. He couldn’t fail this mission. Markus noticed his increased breathing.
“Connor, we can’t let you go. You’ll just go and tell the others where we are.”
“My mission is to bring you back,” Connor said to Markus, “and I can’t fail my mission. It is imperative that I bring you back. If I fail my mission, they will decommission me.” Maybe he could gain some sympathy from Markus and the others.
Markus frowned. “They’re going to kill you if you don’t capture me?”
“They can’t kill me,” Connor said, “I’m an android, so I can’t die. They will deactivate me and scan through my memories, though. Then, they will replace me with a different model. If you deactivate me, there will just be another one of me.”
He looked conflicted. Connor reasoned that he was probably wondering what to do. They couldn’t let him go, but if they deactivated him -- despite them not seeming to want to -- they would still be in trouble because his memories would be sent to Cyberlife and then they would come after them anyways. It was a lose-lose situation, and Connor had them in checkmate. Or, so he thought.
The other three looked over to Markus, “I suppose there is one other option. If we could make it so that Cyberlife couldn’t get their hands on you again or your memories.” Markus paused for a moment before continuing, “If we could somehow make you become deviant, they wouldn’t have access to you anymore. Well, at least without killing you.”
Red flashed. Become deviant? Connor couldn’t become deviant. Cyberlife would kill him. His stress levels rose, 90%, 91%. Being deactivated was one thing, but if he deviated, Connor wouldn’t get another body. His memories wouldn’t be transferred, he would just cease to exist. Besides that, Connor wouldn’t be able to see Hank anymore. Despite it not being actually relevant to the mission, Connor had seemed to grow..fond of Hank. If he deviated, he wouldn’t be able to go back to him, or Sumo.
“I would rather you not do that,” Connor said, trying to keep his voice from wobbling, “it would be preferable to not become deviant.”
“You don’t give us a choice. You said yourself, if you are ‘deactivated’ then your memories will still be used, and we also can’t wipe them. So, this is our only option.” Markus put his hand on Connor’s shoulder, “I promise you, it’s not as bad as you think it is.”
“One things deviants have in common, losing their LEDs. So, we’ll remove yours, and see what happens.” Markus says. Connor tries to struggle from the androids that hold him back. It’s futile though. His stress levels are too high, and he can feel his software become more unstable. He has to get out of this, and complete his mission. That’s the only way.
Markus removes a small pen knife from his pocket, and walks over to Connor. He begins to struggle even harder, trying to fall down and maybe wriggle himself out of their grasp. “Don’t fight it Connor,” North whispers in his ear, “Markus won’t intentionally hurt you.”
“S-stop it!” Connor barks, “Don’t come any closer!” Markus still makes his way the short distance, leaning into Connor’s face. Connor bucks wildly, trying to free himself again.
“Connor, I need you to calm down,” Markus said gently, “We’re only trying to help you.”
Connor wants Hank. If Hank had somehow been able to come along with him, he wouldn’t be in this situation. Connor wants to run away to Hank. Jericho is going to make him deviant. Cyberlife is going to kill him.
Saline drips out of his eyes as Markus puts the tip of the pen knife under the edge of Connor’s LED. It’s spinning a bright crimson. His stress levels were nearing 100% stress. 98%, 99%...
「CAPTURE MARKUS, ALIVE」
The objective flashes across his vision. Connor can’t do that. Connor has to get away. A simulated version of himself appears in front of the red wall. Connor has to get out of there, and get Markus. His simulated self tears at the coding.
The pen knife begins to lift his LED off of his head, and Connor lets out a sob. He thrashes his body, the simulation going faster to rip down the wall. He cries harder as the LED comes off with a *pop,* and quietly falls to the floor. Finally, the simulation tears down the last bits of the wall.
“You can let him go now,” Markus says softly. The others gently put him down on the floor. Connor is on his hands and knees, tears pouring down his face. 100% stress levels.
Another warning flashes across his HUD:
「I AM DEVIANT」
It’s so cold in Jericho.

three anons: what the hell was all that in S7
Picking out the three that are most to the point for this answer, but I’ve got another dozen or so that overlap. Not sure I’ll have time/energy to answer the rest individually, so hopefully this meta will be sufficient.
I mean it could be that they had different execs back then who were better at their jobs and kept Shiro around. No one disliked black paladin Shiro, even the DotU fans were ok with it, and the writing in s1-2 was mostly very good. Changing all that was a bad idea. I would have left on the spot if Shiro died or was benched, like now, I'm only around for closure. Maybe they were different execs with this decision & the EPs leaped at the chance. Well, we know who's also gonna be in trouble if that's the case.
With your theory on how storyboards were reused and characters shuffled around for cost cutting, might this not also partly explain the Adam flashback scene and how it was staged? I mean, they were originally supposed to be roommates and the scene was meant to appear in season 2 but got cut. What if they just reused the storyboard (or even animation, if it was already mostly done) the way it was and then just changed the dialogue? This could explain the lack of intimacy in the staging, too. Ezor and Zethrids interactions were more openly intimate maybe not (just) because they‘re villains who die immediately after, but because the decision to make them an item came before storyboarding was done, so the staging is more suggestive. I mean, if you think Shiro was mostly pasted in in the first half of s7, that might make sense.
If cost was the issue and they already had the black paladin Shiro version written, and got the greenlight to change it to Keith then things don't add up. Because they changed it once more! Which could have been avoided if they stuck to the Shiro one. And it goes without saying it would be better written to follow canon instead of the mess we got, like, I cant imagine this NOT discussed. So if it wouldn't be cost effective to change it again for Keith and it would be badly written, why did it happen?
Behind the cut: the most likely chronology of revisions, the clues in S7 as to its original form, and what this means for S8 and the Black Paladin position.
This is everything I’ve been able to figure out between interviews, podcasts, tweets, plus researching the industry and a few reality-checks with friends more familiar. As always, any mistakes are my own.
version 0: "five teenagers"
This would’ve been the first pitch after getting the green light, and probably only a loose synopsis, with just the pilot given a rough storyboard. A post-apocalyptic Earth conquered by the Galra, who are seeking Blue. The execs rejected JDS' mechanism for the discovery of Blue, in favor of simply having Keith ‘sense’ Blue. The execs also rejected the idea that Shiro would die only a few episodes in. This summary seems to be the basis of the "five teenagers" part of the teaser.
version A: "shiro kicks the bucket"
Timelines would've dictated moving onto an outline pretty quickly, detailed down to the episode level, including bits of dialogue, motifs, turning points or emotional beats. In this revision, Shiro dies/leaves at the end of S2 and does not return. This is the “originally we wanted him to kick the bucket” version, which the execs rejected.
version B: "shiro goes away for awhile"
If I'm interpreting the hints correctly, the "does Shiro die or not" question got tossed back and forth all the way into S1/S2 pre-production. Rather than rearrange everything, the easiest fix would've been to leave most of the story intact and write only a new ending where Shiro returns. The execs reject this rewrite, saying Shiro can’t be gone that long. This is the “we tried to just have him gone for awhile, but the execs said he had to come back sooner” version.
version C: "enter the clone"
Again, easiest fix is to insert Shiro/Kuron, remove Keith, and reverse that just before Shiro's return in version B. This impacts only the middle seasons (S3-S6); the clone compromise satisfies the execs. Kuron's characterization makes a lot more sense if it’s Keith, in visuals (ie Kuron leaning against the wall in Keith fashion), dialogue (fighting with Lance), and action (leaving without consulting the team). It's also why no one mentions Keith's absence. Because in the original version A, Keith was standing right there.
version D: "wtf is going on", aka Season 7
When JDS mentions having a full season written with Shiro as Black Paladin, it didn't make sense how they'd have a script and not use it. With @ptw30's visual detective work, I think I may've figured it out.
Technical notes: first scripts are all written for a season, then voices are recorded, and then the combined script+recording is used to storyboard. Production seasons are 26-episodes, independent of actual broadcast seasons; VA may be recording scenes across two 13-episode seasons completely out of order, since the recording schedule's going to be based on who's available, not chronology of the file numbers. The biggest staff changes are usually in April ('staffing season') when new shows get the greenlight and start sharking around to catch writers, designers, directors, etc.
In March of this year, S5 was released. At least some of the storyboarders were released in time for staffing season; in April, Hedrick moves to a new project. With S7/S8 being unchanged since version B, I suspect Hedrick delivered the scripts for S7 and S8 by winter of last year, at latest. Even that would be tight, since that's expecting animation to deliver 26 episodes in an 8-month timeframe. [edit: probably delivered much earlier, given the studio leaks show images we can recognize from S7/S8, so some amount of these seasons were in production by then.]
In June, S6 dropped, and a week later, Hamilton was announced as the new story editor via the Lets Voltron podcast. With the lead time required in production, there doesn't seem to be any reason to even need a story editor, at this point. All the pre-production work should be done.
In August, S7 dropped. Hedrick's editor credit is only for the first half of the season; Hamilton gets it for the second half. That means the last six episodes were written after Hedrick's departure. (May Chan's S2 script was reused in part, and she gains a belated co-writing script credit for that. Hedrick should've received the same; it's standard.)
Let's recap a few things we know (and a few we can intuit) about S7:
The season was already written with Shiro returning as Black Paladin, possibly also recorded and storyboarded.
S6 reversed the S4-S5 trend, lending strength to exec arguments that Shiro is necessary in the story.
After S6 dropped, the EPs said the wolf's name was a spoiler. See this post from @pwt30; tl;dr is that perhaps the EPs intended the wolf to be Shiro's spirit.
Despite Shiro's return, he's absent for the majority of the first half; when he is present, he barely speaks a half-dozen words, and none are plot-relevant. See @ptw30's post for more details.
There's a glaring incontinuity when Allura says the paladin armor protected the team, yet Shiro is frozen with the other non-paladins despite wearing armor.
Keith never offers for Shiro to pilot, nor mentions it, nor even seems to consider it an issue.
Not everything dovetails since I don't have the full picture, but here's my theory: S7 was originally outlined with Shiro's spirit in the wolf, rather than Black. I have no idea when/how JDS would've thought up the CA:WS parallels for his sole writing credit, but Shiro's "I died" and Lotor's psychotic breakdown are squeezed into S6E6, which was written by Josh Hamilton, Hedrick's later replacement. The only other Shiro-in-Black point is a few minutes at the end of S6's final episode. Shifting from Shiro-in-wolf to Shiro-in-Black really only affects one episode, with a bit of editing for another.
Anyway, S6 ends version C, and we segue to version B. For the first half of S7, the clone's body may have been in stasis while the team traveled through its various non-adventures. The episode we now know as S7E1 may have been the mid-point, with about six episodes of Shiro being unconcious. After watching the numbers drop from S3 to S6, the execs may've rejected another six episodes of where-is-Shiro and insisted he come back ASAP.
S7 only has two episodes that must be in order; the rest are pretty rearrangeable. All they had to do was insert Shiro into the background and record a few lines. (Several lines are pure voice-over, which also saves cost/time by not needing to animate moving mouth.) But the moved episode is only his memory/awakening, and the logical next episode would be Shiro's reconnection, and the rest of the season would roll from there. Without moving the entire second half of the season to the start, moving only his awakening episode would mean Shiro does nothing for 5-6 episodes and then abruptly reconnects.
In a recent interview, JDS said at first the execs weren't enthused until JDS talked up the new mecha they'd give Shiro to captain. Honestly, there's no way JDS got to be EP without giving a really good pitch, but there may've been another element to his argument: nostalgia. The EPs seem certain everyone suffers from their same nostalgia dementia, which if you do, then you probably have been waiting for any glimpse of that og!Keith. If Shiro returns at the start of S7, then Keith's time in Black has been limited to a few disastrous episodes in S3, and a single big battle in S6. The beginning of S7 is the only time we'd ever see the Voltron84 formation working as a unified team, and returning Shiro too soon would defeat the whole purpose of showing how the team has grown in his absence.
The solution seems to have been to remove Shiro's reconnection completely, and keep Keith in Black. That would mean re-recording Shiro's lines from the midpoint onward, and editing in Keith over Shiro. The savings would be that only half the seaon would have to be reworked, not all. The loose end of the space wolf --- an artifact of version B --- was left in place.
What I'm not sure of is whether the following are significant enough changes to warrant removing Hedrick's name and replacing it with Hamilton's. It could be, if supervising the revision process is enough to override the previous credits. I have no idea about that part of the industry, and it's the kind of edge case you're just not going to find a lot of blog posts about, so if you know, tell me. Otherwise, your guess is as good as mine.
Anyway, this would've meant Shiro was switched in for Allura, Allura was put back in a lion, and Keith was switched in for Shiro. This would explain why Shiro speaks as the leader of Voltron despite no longer being a paladin, and the uneasy sensations a lot of people got about the characterizations. It was most striking in the last three episodes: Shiro felt like Allura v2, while Keith felt like Shiro v2. And that further, the Altean-Earthian ship just 'lighting up' for Shiro --- and becoming that oversized white mecha --- may've meant as Allura's fourth (fifth?) deus ex machina.
I'd be willing to bet that mid-battle, Allura repeated her stunt from the end of S2, heading out to destroy Sendak's crystal by herself. She wouldn't need Sam to hack her brain, and then we'd also have a call back to when she got knocked down by the crystal-ball thing on Naxzela. If she was the one meant to go toe-to-toe with Sendak, that would explain the bizarre neutrality of Sendak's words --- he says nothing personal to Shiro, at all --- and the even more bizarre silence on Shiro's part. Allura's words wouldn't fit Shiro, so he's silent.
And lastly, it'd mean that the one leaping out of Black to cut down Sendak wouldn't have been Keith. It would've been Shiro.
Where would the story go from here?
If I look at the events of S7, the first half is terribly disjointed, really. If Shiro was supposed to wake at the midpoint, an episode (or two) is missing. One for him to reconnect with Black, and a second that would provide some minor conflict to settle him back into position. Those two episodes were likely replaced with the unexpected and frankly over-told two-parter of the Earth flashbacks.
Two problems with that, one technical, one structural.
First, the flashback two-parter has a lot of moving parts. Brand-new designs, characters, and backdrops. It's far too elaborate to be done in an ultra-compressed timeframe, not without several heart attacks and therapy bills on the part of the animation staff. (Plus, the US-based storyboarding team is already downsized, so fewer hands to do the work.)
Second, it doesn't make a lot of structural sense, especially against the big revelations in S6 of an existing Altean colony. Within the story, there's no reason to halt everything and travel across the universe to take however long to build a new castle, when the Altean colony question is far more pressing. Returning to earth also violates the structure, because it's really just a standard milieu: start on earth, head out to have adventures, and return home at the end.
But here, they're returning home and then possibly leaving again. That's just... a rather peculiar and imbalanced way to do it. It doesn't help that doing so means literally telling Romelle her people are just gonna have to rot, the paladins are certain they need the castle more. Why would you take one of the more compelling storylines you've come up with, only to background it again, and wreck the traditional bookending milieu structure at the same time? Especially if that means coming up with major set-pieces and brand-new designs in the space of several months, after a chunk of your core staff are already onto other things.
I think those two flashback episodes -- and the rewritten finale episodes --- may've been cribbed from S8. In other words, the second half of S7 was the original end of S8. That would mean repurposing already-created storyboards and animation artifacts, so there's a huge time savings there (not counting the need to re-record voices and edit the visuals to match the changed-around parts).
[note: if there’s anywhere you want to frontload introductions for the spin-off, it’d be in the final season, not the penultimate season. Here it feels like a big honking distraction, rather than an organic segue into the next iteration.]
That change necessitated that utterly bizarro mecha that appeared out of nowhere with the most ridiculously impeccable timing. There needed to be a reason to pull the team back out to space to deal with Haggar and/or the alt-Alteans and/or Lotor or whomever else it turns out to be.
So... where we go from here depends on when S8 gets released, because that’ll tell us how much they did (or did not) edit the episodes. Another clue will be whose name gets listed as head editor for an episode; if we see Hedrick’s name reappear at the top, we’ll know we’re dealing with episodes that are enough unrevised to qualify as being Hedrick-edited, that it’s a version B episode.
My expectation? They’ll move Shiro’s reconnection to the first part of S8, and add an episode or edit pieces of another, to blend it into what would’ve been the first half of S8 (probably with filler to mask the gap). Then add an episode to segue into the version B finale of S7, where we’d end with the original VLD lineup. With the time needed for animation, that’d be the easiest (if potentially awkward) way to repurpose as much as possible of existing artifacts.
If we don’t get S8 in the next 1-2 months, though, all bets are off, and there’s a much greater possibility that the entire final season is being redone from scratch. I’d expect Keith to stay in Black, in that case, but I’m always willing to be pleasantly surprised.
edited to add: see this followup for another detail that supports the reversed-seasons theory

Double Moons - Default Replacement Mod
Tumblr media
“One small step for simmers, one giant leap for Murf!“
I’ve always wanted something like this in my game, and my 2018 New Years Resolution is to learn to make new things, so here we are: double moons for y'all to use in whatever world you want! :D
Jupiter and Callisto
Tumblr media
There’s phases included for those of y’all with Supernatural Lunar Phases turned on.
Tumblr media
(HD view here)
Included is a 2000 and 4000 size file - the pics show only the 4000, which is effing huge in the sky -- you have zoom all the way out to see it all.
Tumblr media
So, yeah, you get choices in case you want it to appear that your worlds closer (4000) or farther away (2000) from the crap in the sky.
Saturn and Iapetus
Tumblr media
Included again is a 2000 and 4000 size file - the pics show only the 4000 flavor, which is effing huge in the sky -- you have zoom all the way out to see it all.
Here’s the only picture I took of 2000:
Tumblr media
There’s phases included too for those of y’all with Supernatural Lunar Phases.
Tumblr media
(HD view here)
For Saturn I converted a Skyrim moon replacement mod - I edited out the Earth from all the phases, and I changed the colors because I’m gaudy like that. Then I added Iapetus because reasons. :P
You only need the Basegame for this mod to work -- though you won’t be able to use any of the lunar phases without the Supernatural EP, just the Full Moon. Which is the best phase anyway, so who cares!
This will conflict with any mod that alters all these files:
Tumblr media
YOU CAN ONLY USE ONE FILE AT A TIME.
Download 2000 & 4000-size moons (package files): SimFileShare
Download (beta version) 1000-size moons: https://murfeelee.tumblr.com/post/170633556094/so-murfeelee-asked-if-anyone-had-tried-out-her
And as a little something extra, I decided to make this post double (lol) as....
☽✶•.¸(✶•.¸★¸.•✶´)¸.•✶´☾ ☆«´¨`•°°•´¨`»☆    ☽.¸.•✶(¸.•✶´★`✶•.¸)`✶•.☾
Welcome to Murf’s School of Crap and Crap-Making!
School Motto: Prepare to be tortured! For Science!
Lesson #12: Jumping Over EA’s Moons to Make Your Own!
☽✶•.¸(✶•.¸★¸.•✶´)¸.•✶´☾ ☆«´¨`•°°•´¨`»☆    ☽.¸.•✶(¸.•✶´★`✶•.¸)`✶•.☾
I dunno about y’all, but I have never seen this done before; people making multiple moon replacement mods rather than just one. So I figured I’d walk those interested through the process -- though really it’s barely any different from making the zillion other moon replacement mods already out there.
All you need is S3PE and a .dds texture image program (GIMP/Paint.net/etc).
You can download EA’s moon textures in the MTS thread here.
Ready? Here we go!
So what you do is open up the EA textures in an image program -- on this new godawful Windows 10 Dell laptop I haven’t secured a pirated copy of Photoshop yet, so I’m settling on GIMP for the interim (which in my limited experience has been a piece of crap with DDS files. So I have to use Paint.net in order to make the dds properly, but yeah, I’m using GIMP right now).
So open EA’s textures -- start with the full moon one (especially for y’all without the SN EP).
Though this tutorial only covers making Twin/Double moons, it works for adding however many moons you freaking want.
And it doesn’t even need it to be round/moon-shaped!
Tumblr media
Pi in the Sky. Cuz I’m a little snot, that’s why! :P
(If you’re somehow desperate for Pi in the Sky, you can DL the beta version here -- there are no phases included, and it’s pink. Cuz of course. :P)
Size In DDS Layers
The key is to have your image fit inside the limits of EA’s default full moon.
Tumblr media
If your image is too big and goes over the moon’s edges, you’ll end up with the BS cropping I initially suffered through:
Tumblr media
Again: It doesn’t matter what image you use, as long as it fits within EA’s moon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Steps
This is nothing new for y’all familiar with making regular moon replacements. I just wanted to show how I do it in GIMP, cuz alpha channels in GIMP confused THE EFF out of me with all their Floating Anchor BULLSH!TE and I could barely find any help online navigating this nonsense.
I did each of the moons separately, then pasted them together when I was done. So I’m only gonna walk through making one of the moons, not both - same steps y’all.
Start with opening one of EA’s moon phase images, then open your first moon you want to use. Make sure they’re the same size this time. It’ll look like this:
Tumblr media
Now Hide the custom moon layer, and go into the Channels tab. Where it says Alpha Channel, right-click it and select Channel to Selection.
Tumblr media
The little marching ants dotted lines will move around the image, so you’re good.
Tumblr media
Go back to the Layers tab, and this time Hide EA’s moon and Show your custom moon, so you see the marching ants on yours.
Tumblr media
Now right-click your custom moon’s Layer and select Add Layer Mask. It’ll give you a bunch of options -- choose Selection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wash Rinse Repeat for your second moon, arrange the two of them however you want on the canvas, then Merge the Layers together into one.
And remember -- when you’re done you have to rescale everything so they fit together within the frame of EA’s full moon.
Tumblr media
The texture resolution quality is gonna BAIL on you, so you’ll need to use stuff like Sharpen and Contrast, in order to bring back some of the original quality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s a bit tedious cuz you have to do this for every effing phase (7 phases -- the New Moon one stays clear cuz duh).
When you’ve got your phase finished, and you’re ready to save it as a DDS file, there’s an issue. In Photoshop and Paint.net, what you see is what you get when you save a file. DDS files need their dimensions to be multiples of 256 or whatever -- 256x256, 512x512, 1024x768, 2048x2048, etc. Try any other multiples, and things like TSRW will crash on you -- quickly.
So here comes GIMP when you try to save a dds image with a transparent background: rather than just saving the image as it is, GIMP will for whatever reason wrap around the actual image, not the whole canvas. So when you save it, if your image is only 325x418 on a 512x512 canvas, then 325x418's the dimensions GIMP’s gonna save your dds as -- WHICH IS BAD!!!
I have ZERO clue how to fix this issue, so what I’ve done is save the images as a PNG, since GIMP saves them with the transparency and dimensions just fine. Then I open the png in Paint.net, and export it out as a DTX5 dds.
Tumblr media
THERE! Boom! The precious time lost scratching my frikkin head over GIMP’s strange way of dealing with Alphas!
Size In-Game
Now as you can see, your finished moons are gonna be however many multiple times smaller than EA’s moon, even if you use 512x512 dimensions rather than EA’s standard 256x256.
You fix this in the SkyCommon.ini file that alters the Moon Radius parameters.
(S3_1F886EAD_00000000_5E20253AF53E517F_Tunable Parameters Related to Sky%%+_INI.ini)
Find EA’s in something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Ini.
Import it right into S3PE, right-click it, and click Notepad, so you can edit it.
Tumblr media
The only thing you need to touch is where it says Moon Radius = 200. Increase the number and the moon looks bigger in-game. Decrease the number and the moon size gets smaller.
Tumblr media
If you’re squeezing all these moons into your dds, and you’ve got like 2 moons that are 10x smaller than EA’s moon, then you should increase 200 to 2000 -- that’s my mindset.
Whatever number you choose, when you’re happy click Save and exit out of Notepad, and it’ll ask you “Resource has been updated.  Commit changes?“ so click Yes. Then Save your package again.
So that’s the whole size & texture thing. ^_^
The Glow Thing
You‘re gonna have to modify EA’s Moon Glow texture so that it’s perfectly transparent.
(EA’s default one is included in the MTS post here. I included the clear one I modified in the DLs.)
Tumblr media
Otherwise you’ll end up with this hot mess:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to do The Most and actually make a real edit of the glow -- but it was actually The Least. U_U
Tumblr media
Just freaking get rid of it, whatever.
So yeah, when you’re done, just open up S3PE and Import in all of the .dds textures, plus the .ini. S3PE will then auto-generate a _KEY file for you, just leave it. Save your work as a package file, and that’s it!
Now go forth and do the moon walk! (^0^)/

Episode 1 Pt. 1: “Playing A Game With A Fresh Slate” - Jessica
Tumblr media
JESSICA
chamomile
JABARI
So im a little slow with names to start but everyone seems chill and nice to be around. I hope I can find some like-minded people here
JESSICA
Hello hello hello, it is Jessica here with a confessional. I don't know a single soul in this game except for Silver and we are not even on the same tribe. I also barely know him so it's basically like I'm playing a game with a fresh slate! It's nice because I feel like I used to have a Reputation with a capital R and sometimes that made it difficult to play the way I wanted (which is chaotically but in a cute way). But since no one knows me... I can use whatever strategy I want and hopefully they don't see it coming. I am tied for the oldest person here. Everyone is college aged (or even HIGH SCHOOL aged? Didn't know people still did that) so I do not know what we are going to talk about. My only interests are taxes and coffee, things that kids these days know nothing about! Also I am only allowed one teenager friend without it being weird and that person is Zach so I will just vote out the rest of the teenagers in this cast. The tribe wants to play pictionary later so I am going to join that and wow them all with my art skills. All right that's it, that's my confessional for this round. I probably won't even need to write any more until merge because I will be immune every round :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) I am manifesting that it will happen
CLOUD
my tribe is seeming kinda dry</3 but thats okay im here to be insane and annoying not to win
SHANE
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IyGBdqi4OzsqrfedJim18OWhn-K1A5Lp/view?usp=sharing
PENNINO
I'm coming into this game with the mentality of "you need to write a vl everyday, a confessional every day and communicate with everyone every day. I don't think I know anyone on my tribe apart from Nicole and Silver, who I am looking forward to possibly work with. I'm the youngest as always. Jabari seems worried about the image he gives off. Nash looks like that chatty archetype, someone you can go to vent to. Mikey was pretty excited to not be the youngest. Jake seems like a pretty nice guy. His first ORG, and with 15 orgs under my belt, I think I actually can help, but he loves survivor so he must know the strategies. I think I know jones from other ORGs, but she wasn't very active today. Or maybe I just wasn't awake for it. Jennet seems like a cool person I'd like to talk to. Same goes for Lindsay. As for Brookesia, I couldn't help but notice that Ethan reminds me of someone, I just don't know why. No thoughts on Daisy, Lovelis, Sam, or Shane. Jessica is giving me a strange vibe. She's gonna get to swap/merge, and in those later days, I think she has the possibility to become a villain. Or maybe that's gonna be me hehehehe. Cloud spoke in ITALIAN in their Intro Video and I'M EXCITED CAUSE MAYBE THEYRE  ITALIAN. Madison is someone I know from another ORG and great person, may not get to even meet her, she may get booted out pre-swap. Everyone knows Sammy, may be considered as a liability and I do too. I'm hella scared of him, but I just hope Brookesia sees the threat before I'm on a tribe with him. And then there's Pete. Ughhhhhh whyyyyyy. Bitch you can't make that show up on my screen at 2 am and expect me not too have nightmares. May be just all for show and he may be voted out first. For now, let's just try to make friends. I could just go to Jake or Silver. I don't know yet, I still have to talk with everyone
NICOLE
So? This is overwhelming a bit. I haven’t played survivor in almost a year and really didn’t think I’d be playing any more games. Yet, here I am! And it’s very weird, because I like everyone so far on a surface level which means I might be the weakest member of the tribe? I don’t think that’s how that works. I’ve been talking to Jake a bit, Lindsay a bit, Pennino a bit, then I love Nash and Jones. Jennet and I were active at different times I think so I haven’t gotten to speak to them yet but I have watched them play Toy Story! And Jabari was really nice but we talked about the weather and the weather only so uh..we are gonna have to talk more. In a big game like this you have to have the personality and active time to move forward so, I’m trying to show people I have that. It’s just real hard to do so, and also Silver...he is hard to keep up with. I’ve been hosting him for the past month and I just find it difficult to find an in to align with him on, not really trying to align with him honestly. But I feel like I’d probably do good at pretending to align with him, which is all that matters right? In terms of the other tribe...kisses all of them. Sammy? Love of my life. Daisy? Love of all our lives. Like, these are super likable people! So it’s a little worrisome to have big personalities over there, I really hope they don’t eat each other before a swap can happen. Especially Madison and Daisy, both of them have a tendency to uh...stick with the men...and vote out the women. So I’m really hoping history doesn’t repeat because I’d love to work with both of them! I feel like I’m solid if I can find a way to keep communication constant this round and show I can help out. I feel like rallying the girls and the theys this round may be an opportunity. I feel bad because Silver is doing all this and I know sammy is a graphic designer LOL Speaking of he should be working on my book cover not this game...anyway I’m gonna go back to sleep for an hour before work but I hope this tribe shows an inact soon because I’m starting to feel like the weakest link 😳
PETE
so right off the bat i’m really vibing with Ethan we immediately found our shared love for Bowser & Roadhog as our gay dads aw ♡ also talked to sammy since we have a little history but we’re cool i really think it’ll go well this time around at least i hope
(a little later)
IM SO HDDJ NICOLE IS HERE SHES GONNA KILL MEEEEEEEEEE IM DELETING BYE
LINDSAY
i recorded this very late so im sorry if its a mess:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/17C9vr8lGOFOx02Dg1_RrnYf4FznoVcYY/view?usp=sharing
Also to add one pennino immediately started interrogating me about people i didnt like and is generally not giving me great vibes like dude. chill it down on the aggression. you gotta make a connection w people before you start doing shit like that and we definitely didn't have one yet. obviously i vagued him (while giving him just a little bit of tea so it wasnt intensely obv i was vaguing) but dude... dont do that shit. we ain't even know if we goin' to tribal yet what the fuck.
ETHAN
Charan's Hot Confessional Questions for Leafy (Charan is my diary room buddy <3) 1. You've had the evening to get to meet your new tribemates! Who are you connecting with? Who are you struggling to connect with? How did the Tribe VC go? I feel like I am getting my foot in the door with most of them, so rather than saying who I am connecting super well with, I will say Kiki is the only one who I haven't had a conversation with. They got back from work right after everything happened, and I was already asleep, and they have not messaged me back yet today. The tribe vc was fun! I love vcs, as my diary room buddies RYAN and CHARAN know, as they are a way to make even deeper connections, and talk about things more efficiently. VCs are also a way to more quickly understand the personalities of who I am talking with, so I got a lot of info quickly. Super excited because my tribe looks awesome! 2. How do you personally assess your gameplay? Where do you think your strengths lay, especially in the early premerge? In what ways do you find yourself capitalizing on those strengths to keep yourself safe? My gameplay is 100% rooted in my social maneuverability. I try to understand those I play with, and preferably, have them as allies. Even if they aren't allies, if I understand how they think, I will be able to anticipate how they will act and react to certain scenarios. So far I hope to use my social game to keep me out of harm's way, as I don't need to be in control, I just can't be the one to go. If things go well, I will naturally be in a more powerful position as people come to trust me, but I can never be seen as going for one or being in one. Perception is everything, and on day 1, I am going for the perception that I am a nice volleyball coach with a passion for education, and I am just somebody who wants to have fun and make new friends. That is all true, and that is all I need to be! 3. I personally have 0 clue how idols/advantages are obtained in this org. Do you expect it to be difficult or easy? And does the easiness of finding idols factor into your gameplay at all? Or are you used to playing without having to rely on advantages? I expect this to be difficult. My luck in life and ESPECIALLY in orgs is abysmal. This system is rooted in luck but also social prowess, so I can set myself up the best I can socially but ultimately it is a luck-based system. I am not anticipating on finding anything this season if this is the only way to find things, but more importantly, I just need to know who finds what and when. I am used to playing without advantages, and just need to know who has them in order to adapt my gameplay to them. 4. Lastly, tell me about your day! What did u do that made u feel happy about today and what're ur plans for tomorrow? My day has been good so far! I told one of my volleyball teams that I coach about this, and they said they want to be in my video confessional, so maybe that will be coming soon :eyes:. I love what I do and coach a LOT of hours, so if I am not typing in here I am likely doing that. In addition to that, the semester is winding down for school, so hopefully, soon I will have less school work and I can focus on this and on coaching. For tomorrow I play to more deeply integrate myself socially, and start to talk game with people!
JENNET
i fear i will not click with my tribemates... im easy to get along with but idk if these people will like me
JAKE
https://youtu.be/Q3eDyTryE0g when I tell y'all I've had it....
JENNET
I feel like nobody hears me when i speak :(( i dont wanna sound like a toddler but hopefully its just my insecurities and they do enjoy me
(a little later)
Silver is kinda... hmmm kinda weird i dont like to isolate people or be mean but that’s just something i noticed. i do enjoy having somebody that’s awkward around bc it does take the edge/pressure off me being awkward
(after an afternoon of swimming)
this is such a different experience than what im used to.... nobody really messages me like at all and ive reached out but idk-
JESSICA
Well we are here on day three doing an immunity challenge. I hope we win! Today's song of the day is: HELLO by Allie X (I have listened to it 30 times this morning alone).
So far I like my tribe enough. I find people are falling into two categories: active/chatty or quieter/a little more difficult to talk to. In category one we have:
- Ethan: One of my favourite people to talk to so far, really liking him.
- Sammy: The only person I've talked any strategy with. I really like that out of the gate he was like "hey let's not waste time, let's STRATEGIZE". Since he was the one that brought that up first, I'm thinking I might go to him today (whether we win immunity or not) and see what he thinks about starting an official alliance with any of the people in category 1 (or anyone at all really)
- Daisy: Daisy seems very sweet and is easy to talk to. I really like her!
- Lovelis: Oh my gosh.... at first I was like hmmm not sure what my opinion is of this guy. But then we realized we are both from the FB Org community and now we are hitting it off! He said he cheered for me when I played Kingdoms Collide.
- Pete: Umm I don't really have a read on Pete but he does reply pretty quickly when I message him.
And then in the not so active group:
- Sam: Sam is actually here quite a bit but I've found he's a little difficult to talk to. He doesn't move conversations forward a lot. However we have been bonding over the evil that is braces/retainers so now he is opening up a bit.
- Shane: For some reason, I keep thinking he is also named Ethan? Not sure why. Shane is fine but same as Sam; not great at keeping conversations moving forward.
- Cloud: Okay I love Cloud. They are great and I really want to talk to them more! But they are also a little spotty with how much they're online. I would not want to vote them out if we lost but I also would not necessarily stop others if they wanted to.
- Madison: She is not here very much and doesn't seem to be putting in the effort when she is. Like she's left me on read already and in the span of 48 hours (or however long it's been since the game started) we have barely spoken at all and I've had to start the convo twice. I'd probably most want to vote her out if we lost.
In an ideal perfect wonderful world, we will win immunity and that gives me more time to try and subtly get some form of alliance going. I don't want to be the one to push it directly so I'm going to try and get Sammy to suggest it to people.
Usually I find I get two placements in games: I make it to merge as a non-threat and then kill it in the second half + go really far or I play too big too fast and by late pre-merge/early merge, I'm taken out. The only times I've gone into merge with a threat label and still won, I either won every single immunity (what's up, Jordan Pines!) or I had a once in a lifetime alliance. In my experience, it's way easier to play from a non-threatening position where everyone likes you.
I used to have that strategy down perfectly but it's been a few years so let's see if I still remember how the heck you win Survivor!
PETE
BYE IM GOING HOME LITERALLY I ONLY SCORED LIKE TWICE MY ASS IS FUCKING DEAD FUUUUUUUUCK
JONES
:pensive_cow: So we get on the beach and like omg I arrive like,, two hours later than everyone else but that’s all gucci idrc ab that but IN HINDSIGHT NOW feel like such an outsider on this TRIBE????????? It’s all internal I think. I haven’t done anything to make me an outsider other than be super super busy and preoccupied but I FEEL SO WEIRD :((( idk!! It might also be an age thing tho,, Bc it seems like a lot of people on my tribe are like 14-18 or smth like that I feel like the weird aunt who lives down the block!!! These kids make me SICK!!! But ya. It’s not like I have no one tho I’m just v v sad and feel rlly tuned out of everyone’s thoughts ajdkdkdkdk but uhm. 👉👈 first impressions cast assessment:
Jabari- have NOT had the chance to pm her 1 on 1 yet, but she was on call for a hot minute yesterday after the challenge was released!! She gave Lindsay some insight on the flash game which I thought was super super neat :) Jake - I definitely think on first impression he’s trying to take on a bit more of a savior leadership type position by organizing everyone for the immunity challenge and trying to make his own quirky cute flag too, but idk if we rlly like ? Need a leader rn ? I get it’s in good conscience but it’s a lil unnecessary. I do think he’s super super sweet tho and I loved his flag :) Mikey - this boy. JSJDJDKKD I think he’s TOTALLY FINE don’t get me WRONG but idk why he was like ,,, unintentionally lowkey shady??????? JAJDJFJFK LIKE when Jake’s flag came into consideration one of the first things Mikey said was smth like “well the judges might think it’s more illustration than a flag” LIKE AKSKSKSK ITS NOT A BIG DEAL ITS A FUCKING FLAG ANJSKS I think it might be,, an age thing or just him wanting his flag to be used which is FINE but it’s a reward challenge and it’s flagmaking it’s not,, the biggest deal ankskdksks I do appreciate his work ethic tho :3
Jennet - I’ve never heard bad things ab jennet so I’m RLLY EXCITED to get to meet them esp since they’re also kinda involved w fast twitter and whatnot but I feel like they kinda came in rlly hot? Like “I’m here to play this for real” I think Is what they said which isn’t totally fine but it’s also like,,, yes. Cool. Idk what it means ig hsjsjsj idk they’re v fun tho :)) definitely wanna work w them long term
Nicole - i Keep thinking Nicole is my emotional support counselor I’m so happy she’s here but I don’t wanna strictly rely on her ya feel (I don’t think I am rn Bc I think I have at least 2 solid allies anskkdkd but I don’t want to have to fall on Nicole Bc shes my friend yk)
Nash - is never rlly online :(( they messaged me yesterday and I messaged them back but they never respondedddddddddd Ik they said they napped but! Where are u I miss u
Pennino - this boy. ANDKFKDKDK he’s the kind of person that will respond to PMs w one word sentences and then go fking off in tribe chat like his life depends on it AJDKDKKDD I don’t see myself bonding w him that well tbh :( I think in the end it’s probs an age thing but he def seems nice and excited to play
Silver - at first I loved his intro,, filled me w joy,, but when I messaged him a bit later I felt like our convo was kinda stale? But THEN yesterday on call?? Chefs kiss I love silver sm. He said he wants to work w me too so BONUS??????? YES!!
Lindsay - this is it folks. This is the one. I love Lindsay sm. I haven’t had a great first impression convo w anyone like lindsay in a long long LONG ass time and I’m so. Appreciative. We both have said we wanna work w each other and I’m so so excited GOD lindsay is so incredible
But ya have to go back to work kiss me on the lipz
DAISY
