2024 year in review <3

So!

The last year in review I did here on tumblr was in (checks notes) 2021. Damn. I was still going by Andre. Whoops! I changed my alias to Sol recently, so if you're staring at this and wondering who the hell is on your dash, don't unfollow quite yet -- it's still me!

Anyway, on to the shit I was up to this year!

WORD COUNT:

This year I wrote in total (drum roll, please) 141,705 words. Pretty impressive considering I've been going through a bit of a dry spell fandom wise for the last twoish years. After my ME/DA phase petered out I don't think I wrote or made much until late 2023, when League of Legends's Heartsteel AU dropped. I wrote a frantic 143,227 words for my largest fic yet in the span of about five months, and actually finished it earlier this year before I delved into Honkai: Star Rail for the rest of it. Scary what a hyperfixation can do to you.

FAVORITE FIC:

My favorite fic that I wrote this year has gotta be if these walls could talk. Sue me, the only completed work I have under my belt, I'll plaster that everywhere. A brief taste of AO3 popularity came with it, I loved responding to everyone's comments and headcanoning 'till way too early in the morning. Regardless of how I felt about it around mid-March (annoyance, wanting to quit, sick of writing it) it does mean a lot to me because it is a little badge of my hard work out there for anyone to read. I made so many friends in the fandom afterwards that it'll always have a little soft spot in my heart.

(I also have a favorite in mine, yours and ours because it's the first work I ever did for Honkai: Star Rail and it makes me happy.)

NEW THINGS I TRIED:

A LOT. Probably too much. But a lot. I spent a good chunk of the year long-form roleplaying (insane, even for me. there has be at least thousands of words written in some server in the void), writing until 2am with a friend across the world, actually writing a whole fic (yes, you're noticing a common theme here), and learning not to take myself too seriously. I spent the last half of the year writing rarepair fic because it made me happy and I didn't care as much about the numbers. Is it objectively good fic? Well -- you're asking the author, of course she's gonna say yes!

But I had fun. I hopped in and out of fandoms as I pleased. Went with the wind instead of trying to force myself to have fun where I wasn't anymore. And eventually, landed right back where I want to be (Dragon Age) after the release of Veilguard.

GOALS FOR 2025:

I was gonna do this funny "cats out the bag!" joke but I'm too much of a yapper to be quiet so -- I'm writing a game! Or, well, I'm thinking about writing one really hard. And I'm finally getting started. I have no idea if I'll finish it, but I'm really excited to try. Really excited to get my brainworms out into the world LOL. Info to come soon.

Anyway I'd tag the people that inspired me but I'm like 80% sure none of them are on tumblr? Yeah if you got this far and realized your dash is 50% me reblogging whatever I please, it's because I semi-moved back to tumblr a month or so ago. Twitter girlies are insane and I prefer a brain cell or two with my DA takes tbh.

I like to head cannon that , after the events of the movie, after everything is done and over and after surviving the eclipse canon, Sonic is home, and shadow is somewhere on the planet, they both look up at the moon from time to time , and think about each other, maybe Sonic stares up at the moon and thinks about the hedgehog he helped find a better way, and the new friend he saved the world with. And shadow, somewhere on the planet, stares at the moon and remembers the blue hedgehog that not only showed him mercy when he thought he didn’t deserve it, but related to his pain, and talked to him like a real person he could understand, the blue hedgehog that showed him he always has a choice, and the first one he bonded with in 50 years.

There are times they both look up at the same moon and think about each other, they wonder how the other is doing, they wonder where the other is, and if they’re even alive. They think about the special moment they shared on that same moon, I like to think that they both sit alone at night and talk to the moon as if they’re talking to each other , cause that moon is the place they went from enemies to something more.

I hate to ask this of you if you’re not taking request since I know you’ve been getting a lot of asks lately, but I really love the bits of characterization you give everyone in your art and am just. Eating up every last crumb in your doodles…so would it be too much to ask if you would draw the OG champions (Cynthia, Lance, Steven, Wallace, & Diantha if you feel like it) interacting or doing something together? I don’t ask for more than that, it can be whatever you want and range from a silly/casual activity to something more formal.
