Morning Thoughts: How OG!Yuui/Our Fai's whole 'all smiles good times not stressed' demeanor was started out of a desire to make other people happy. To repay Ashura for taking him in and preserving his brother. To make up for the sins he carries on his shoulders. How the only thing he wanted besides his brother to live and himself to die (not more, not for a long long time, but still on the short list) is the safety and happiness of the people around him. How much and how strongly he loves despite everything. How from what little we see of his brother he was the same damn way, loving his twin with everything there was in his little him.
Just, I have so many feelings about these two.

we're all made of glitter and nightmares (and baby, we thrive)
Tsubasa Chronicle Month 2023
- Day 8: OTP
~
“You know, I never really thought I was worth anything, be it time, or effort, or the trouble, especially where anyone’s feelings were concerned,” Fai says one evening, back against Kurogane’s chest, head leaning against Kurogane’s good shoulder, eyes up on the glimmering stars. It's a clear, warm evening, and the alcohol is sweet, and Kurogane’s presence at his back (his presence in Fai’s life) is the most comforting thing he’s felt in his long, tiring life. “I still don’t, some days.”
“I guess everybody has moments of self-doubt throughout their lives,” Kurogane says, nosing softly at the hair above Fai's ear. It sends a pleasant, familiar shiver down Fai's spine. "Though you're an idiot if you think you're not loved for just being you."
Fai laughs, a soft little chuckle that he can't control and sees no reason to suppress. "Oh, I know how loved I am, Kuro-sama. I do. After everything, I'd be blind and foolish not to." It took time, and it took a sacrifice that still takes Fai's breath away when he remembers those last moments in Celes.
Yes, Fai knows how loved he is, by his husband, by their children, even by the people here in Nihon who've welcomed him and accepted him with open arms and open hearts.
It's just that…
He still has bad days, when he wakes up from nightmares or memory-dreams, when he can't help the darkness that encroaches upon his thoughts. Those days he wonders if maybe it would have been better for everyone if he just disappeared, or if he'd died in that valley. Perhaps the kids would have suffered less. Perhaps Kurogane would not have had to take a sword to his own arm. Perhaps his brother would have had a long, joyous life, had Fai, had Yuui never existed.
He's too much trouble, he believes on those dark days. Too much.
But.
"But no matter how awful the thoughts, how deep the darkness, Kuro-sama always manages to pull me back from the edge, to keep me from losing myself." He turns his head, presses his forehead to Kurogane's jaw. "You make me feel like maybe I'm worth the trouble. If only just a bit." You make me want to live, more than anything and anyone else.
Kurogane's embrace grows tighter then, and for a second, Fai wonders if he's said that last part out loud. But then Kurogane huffs, and it sounds both exasperated and deeply fond (and Fai loves that sound, loves that he can read through it and understand it). "You're worth it to me, you damn fool. Get it through your thick skull. You're more than worth it to me. Don't ever doubt that."

From the "40 Questions — Meme for Fic Writers": 7, 28 and one of your choice!
Thanks Holly! For the 40 questions for fic writers meme:
#7: Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
this dumb fucking joke from my dragon!fai/kurogane fic, Your Princess is in Another Castle. it's like 10 years old and I don't think anybody following this blog (except my fav scrublord, @mikkeneko) was in it with me, but i still smile to myself reading this fic and if u can't smile at ur own fic, what else is it FOR:
"Oh my god," Kurogane said, automatically, because like most dragons Ashura wasn't wearing any clothes. His knees suddenly felt very weak. "Um," said Fai, his glib tongue seeming to have deserted him. "Hello?" "Can I go?" Yuui asked Ashura. Despairing it was, then. At least he wasn't naked. It was a low bar to meet in terms of presentation, but so far two of the six people in this room weren't making it.
#28: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
Easy peasy! #1, montparnasse, because i adore their poetic prose (as exemplified by the intro to my fav of their fics, the Hawkebella On Southerly Winds):
Once, lost-but-not-lost on a windless night at sea, Isabela told a young sailor, “You’ve got to live like everything can hurt you.” The sailor, new and green as a beansprout, said it was sound advice. She didn’t understand that it was not. It was fact, like iron in the blood.
#2, Spicyshimmy - handers fandom will know why, but i love their clever playing around with tone, their Hawke characterisation is so fun and sad, and Fareweel Regality remains one of my fav unreliable narrator stories. I also enjoy their larger ensemble pieces particularly in the Mass Effect fandom.
It didn’t take Bethany long to corner Garrett in the den, after he’d seen both the seneschal and Saemus out with a wink and a nod and a sigh of relief. ‘What on earth was that all about?’ she demanded, eyes alight with pure irritation, the mark of a truly loving sister. ‘Do you want the viscount’s son to think there’s madness in our family? Because that’s certainly how you were acting tonight.’ ‘Better madness than magic, I’d think,’ Garrett said.
And last but not least, #3, mikkeneko, my favourite scrublord. she can be ur angle:
"Hawke, what's going on here?" Merrill took in the scene with wide green eyes. "What did you do?" Hawke's expression was insufferably smug. "I found out how to use the Mirror of Transformation to make extra copies of myself," he said. "And... viola!" "That's the instrument," Varric muttered out of the side of his mouth.
... she can be ur deville....
"Promise me," Kurogane insisted. "I promise," he said. "I'll... do what I have to, to stay alive." So that you'll have something to come back to.
... but mostly, she's ur mikke.
Somewhere lost in the clouded annals of myth, in the vague spaces beyond the edges of the map where only dragons lie, in places unknown and untread by mortal feet, (do not pass Go, do not collect $200), in just such a dim and murky place, resides a tavern. This mysterious inn can only be reached by -- "How did you lot all get here, anyway?" Wei Wuxian asked. "Unmapped tributary of the River of Souls," mumbled Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Ninth Saint to the Serve the King Undying, the Reverend Daughter of Drearburh and Heir to the House of the Ninth. "Secret paths of Yggdrasil," murmured Loki Laufeyson, Shape-Changer, Sly-One, Wizard of Lies, Thief of Giants, Foe of the Gods and Forger of Evil. "Experimental portals powered by the Elder Blood," said Yennefer of Vengerberg, court mage of Aedirn, hero of Sodden, refugee of Nilfgaard, mother of Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, Lady of Space and Time. "I mean I came here on a donkey, but your things are cool too," said Wei Wuxian.
And ladies' choice, #1: Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
happy endings. eventually. 😎

Please feel free to use these!!
10 KuroFai Fanfictions I hope someone writes or I will have to get to them one day
All of these are for anyone to use and are ideas that have been bouncing around in my head for a while. If you do like one/use one send it to me and I will read, review, and share!!!!! I have pages and pages of these so lemme know if you want more friends!
1 ~ Fai gets separated from the group and wakes up in a new dimension all alone. He is discovered by a group of warriors. One of those warriors looks suspiciously like Kurogane but Fai can tell instantly it’s not. He of course just so happens to be able to speak the language and surrenders peacefully. He is brought back to there village where he gets to meet the real Kurogane of this world. Youou is only 5 but is obsessed with the blond hair, blue eyes wizard who “is very pretty’ or so he tells his mom and dad. Fai spends a few weeks with the little family and gets dragged around by the overly hyperactive kid we see in the lecourt flashback. I want Youou to give him frogs and bugs cuse ‘arnt they cool!’ and show him all his extra secret hiding spots. I want Youou to get stuck in a tree and Fai to have to save him and he is just so freaking impressed that Fai can use magic to do that. I want him to be glued to Fai and hold his hand and just like climb up Fai’s side like a monkey and hang over his shoulders. I need a cute scene where Fai is telling him bedtime stories that are totally over the top and silly and for Youou to just freaking eat it up. I want him to just be so freaking cute and innocent and adorable that Fai is just swooning in cuteness overload and when Kuro-chan finally finds him Youou bawls his eyes out when they have to go and when they land in the next world Fai is crying too and Kurogane ends up snuggling him and telling him all about what he was like as a kid.
2 ~ This same shit but With Kurogane. He lands in a world separated from the group and is grumbling and stalking around when he runs into two adorable kids who wont speak to him but are constantly whispering in the other twins ears and shooting each other looks. Eventually Fai and Yuui bring Kurogane back to there house where they live with there Aunt Chii. Eventually the twins come out of there shells and they are both just terrors. Fai (the real Fai) is half 50% huge cry baby and 50% If-you-make-Yuui-sad-I-will-cut-you. Yuui(the one who takes his twins name in TRC) is mischievous but appears to be overly innocent and they cause no end of trouble. They are just cuddle bugs and Kurogane will walk into the house to find that they have stolen every blanket in the house and piled them in the living room like a nest/fort and are napping all twisted around each other at odd angles. They will also crawl into his bed in the middle of the night and twist around the same way and it hurts Kurogane’s pride as a ninja that they NEVER wake him. Bonus points if you write them in Ashura-ou’s care because he is the best underappreciated and well meaning father in CLAMP. Extra bonus points if they are little vampires!!!!!! And they get cranky and cry why they are hungry and there little eyes turn gold.
3 ~ A well written KuroFai A/B/O Fic. (I know I know shoot me) because I haven't read a single one in this fandom that didnt get abandoned after a few chapters or were terribly written. (all KuroFai is Good KuroFai but I want really good Kurofai) specifically I want I Dont-need-no-man omega Fai and a potty mouth Kuro-alpha who just doesn't know what to do with him. All the angst. Just modern day au a/b/o and I’ll probs be happy tbh. I have one in the works but I feel like I would get judged for posting it? I wanted something where Fai and Kurogane are both princes in neighboring lands. Fai is a first prince and Kurogane is like way down there on the succession so when they have an arranged marriage Kuro-chan gets shipped to Fai’s country even though he is the alpha. Fai is meh about the whole thing but ends up loving that Kurogane’s alpha pride is hurt because he was shipped off ‘like a blushing bride’ to his husbands home and teases him over it. I want Fai to have to teach Kurogane alllll about his new home that is culturally very different from each other in regards to gender rolls. (Kurogane’s comes from a patriarchal society and Fai comes from a matriarchal society.) So he totally freaks out that his delicate omega is a war mage who leads armies and fights alpha’s face to face. Of course I want them to grow a mutual respect for each others strengths and fall in love love and live happily every after.
4 ~ I want a fanfiction where something happens in a battle and Fai ends up saving Kurogane’s ass by stepping in and just using magic to absolutely obliterate the threat and we get to actually see him do more then just act as back up. Kurogane is totally turned on when Fai is a bad ass in a fight and even though he is injured he just really wants to take his mage home and erm... show his affection? Hehe.
5 ~ One time I wrote a fic where Fai and Kurogane went back to Celese when Ashura woke up and there were still people there. I was told of course by the readers that there were no more living people in Celese because Ashura had killed them or Fai had taken them all to another dimension? I never read that in the manga... (I knew there were no living people in Celese I though Ashura-ou had killed them not that Fai had rescued them) I dont think at least? But that would be a Fai thing to do. I want a fic where the gang lands in the world that Fai took all the people fleeing ‘The beast’ to and since they are all strong magic users they sense his presence right away and the court mages just swarm them. Of course everyone but Fai is super confused. I like to think that Ashura-ou didnt have have his actual son So Fai is the crowned prince aka king now that Ashura-ou is dead so they dont want him to go. It could go a few ways from here.
Fai was married for political reasons but he and his wife had been childhood friends and she is just so delighted that Fai and Kurogane fell in love and she is just all up in there business about how it happened. Kurogane of course is like what-the-hell-do-you-mean-you-are-married!? and Fai has to explain the situation and apologize for not being honest.
or
(sorry I ship TaiAsh-ou and it sneaks into everything I do) Taishakuten from RG Veda was super close to Ashura-ou and so also watched Fai grow up and was so freaking worried about him going back to Celese all alone. He has been in charge while Fai was gone and of course demands Fai stay so becomes there villain with good intentions if you catch my drift? Just like in RG Veda he promised Ashura-ou but this time it was to look out for Fai and keep him safe. So we get to hear all sorts of things about Fai that are never revealed int he Manga and Kurogane gets all twisted out of joint that Fai might actually stay when really Fai cant wait to go because while he loves him home the reminders of Celese brake his heart. Of corse Kurogane doesnt get why Fai would want to abandon his people so they have to have a talk and Kuro offers for Fai to live in Nihon when this is over.
6 ~ I really really reaaaaaaaaaaaally want a fic where Ashura-ou never rescued Fai so he kinda just hung out in Valerie in that timeless prison where he cant use magic. FWR still threw his brother out of the tower and he promised to bring him back if Fai kills the people who will one day. (just swap there names so Fai is Fai and the real Fai is now Yuui for this explanation) So Fai never grows older because timeless prison, never learns how to smile or joke or be a normal human because  no Ashura-ou so he is just this tiny little starving frost bitten gremlin sitting in the snow holding his twin and waiting with the feather FWR gave him. So when the gang show up there like... WTFFFFFF. Kurogane brakes the timeless prison with an attack from his sword and Fai is just looking up at them terrified. he doesnt speak or move just looks up at them terrified. They take Fai and Yuui because Fai wont let go and find shelter for the night. Fai of course cant bring  himself to kill the only people that have ever showed him kindness so he is beating himself up for not being able to do it to save Yuui. I love KuroFai but I also think that people can have close non romantic relationships as well so I would love to see Kurogane Fall in love with Fai and care for him in a parental way? No creepiness just Kurogane seeing a kid that needs him and showing him how to be a kid and live his life. I think this would be so cool if someone has the time to actually write out the healing from a traumatized 5-7 year old into a quirky teen. lord knows when and If I get to this one (I’ve had this idea for 7 years) its gonna be 500k + words.
7 ~ I want an epic AU where Fai and Kurogane live in different countries. I want it to be a tradition in Nihon that when boys turn 16 they spend some time training alone away from there families and its no different for Kurogane. I want his dad lord suwa to have gone to Celese when he had been Kuro’s age and become best buds with Ashura-ou. like war buddies. So when he ships Kurogane off for training he is trusting his old friend Ashura-ou(king of Celes) to look after him. (Ashura would be more like from RG-Veda and a master swords men if that makes sense) Kurogane is excited as hell to go and when he gets there he meets Ashura’s son Fai/Yuui. I want fun teasing between them, epic adventures, Fai taking Kuro-chans innocence!!! and tons of steamy love. I have so many diff Ideas for how this could go but I would love one where Kurogane helps Fai deal with Ashura going crazy like he does in Tsuba. Bonus points for awesome world building.
8 ~ I want an AU where Fai travels to Kurogane’s world when he is learning the spell to travel between dimensions and just sorta thunks down in the middle of his village and hurts himself on the landing. I want Kuro’s mama to patch Fai up and for Fai and Kurogane to become quick friends before Fai’s Dad showes up to bring him home. I want Fai to visit every few Years and for them to fall in love love!!! Bonus points if Fai has to sneak off to visit Kurogane and Ashura has to keep coming to get him and drag his ass home.
9 ~ I want and AU where Kurogane’s parents go on vacation without him so he is spending the summer with his cousins (Syaoran and his dad) and gets dragged with them while they explore historical sights throughout eastern Europe. they end up in this totally dilapidated castle that was abandoned years ago and is supposedly haunted. Kurogane doesn't believe in ghosts so when he hears a banging sound from the catacombs below his room he goes to investigate. He finds the source of the banging and it appears to be coming from a bricked up passage way. Kuro starts to get totally freaked out because he swears he can here crying and someone asking for help on the other side so he locates some tools and tries to get though the wall. while he is working the banging and the crying stop and when he pulls the first brick free he uses his phone to flash some light inside of the room and almost has a heart attack when a single gold eye stares back at him. after the first brick the rest of the wall comes down easy and Kurogane Finds Fai just standing there staring at him. Fai is a vampire that the villagers had entombed 500 years ago and as soon as Kurogane gets close enough to him--Fai bites him. Can you blame him though he is starving to death? the whole immortal thing is not as cool as it sounds when your’re bricked up in a dungeon. Luckily his stomach cant hold much and Fai apoligizes while he waits for Kurogane to come to his senses. Like the rest of these they fall in love love and Kurogane gets to teach Fai all about the convinces of modern day life.
10 ~ I want a fic where Fai gets sick for the first time in a long time. Usually his magic keeps him healthy so when he gets sick he gets siiiiick. Of course he hates asking for help so que  Kurogane taking care of him.

Feels Anon: Kurogane and Fai share their real names on their terms.
this turned out a lot sweeter and mushier than I thought it would so I hope y’all like dessert!
The evening wind in Clow brings a chill, despite the strong heat that beats down on the sand when the sun is up. Fai doesn’t mind too much though, not enough to grab something to cover his arms as he steps out onto the small balcony attached to his room.
To his and Kurogane’s room.
He supposes it shouldn’t be any different than it was before. They shared rooms numerous times, across more worlds than they could count.
Things are very different now.
The stars hanging in the sky are bright, providing a soft glow over the kingdom even though the moon is completely hidden that night. Fai never paid much attention to the stars. In Valeria and in Celes, white clouds would often obscure any view of them he could get. Now, he wonders if the stars are the same here as they were there, and in Nihon, and every other world they’ve visited. He is going to have to remind himself to pay more attention.
Fai’s attention is pulled from the sky when a light blanket is dropped over his shoulders, and he looks to find Kurogane standing by his side, leaning against the balcony railing with his back to the kingdom. Kurogane looks back and crosses his arm.
“If you’re not going to get any sleep, you could at least try to not catch a cold,” He says, his voice low and rumbly and vibrating deep within Fai’s chest.
Fai rests his elbows on the balcony ledge and leans forward on them. He smiles up at Kurogane and quirks up his brows. “Should you be talking?” He asks, looking pointedly at Kurogane’s bare torso, and then back up to Kurogane’s face, amused.
Kurogane scoffs and shakes his head. “You’re the one that’s constantly cold.”
Fai laughs and looks away, down at the people on the ground below them, guards and civilians alike. “Yes, Kuro-sama is very much like a walking furnace.”
Kurogane looks over his shoulder to see what Fai is seeing, and then back at the blond. Fai feels Kurogane’s eyes on him, but does not look back. “What are you doing out here so late, mage?”
Fai smiles wistfully at the nickname, a reminder that yes, he is a wizard again with his eye returned. “Just thinking,” He says. “There are many things to think about.”
Kurogane grunts in response, and Fai knows Kurogane well enough to know that the ninja is agreeing with him. Fai thinks over everything that has happened. Not just in the last few days, but since the beginning, since before the beginning. He glances over at Kurogane, who is looking up at the sky now. The empty space where his left arm should be is even more apparent when he is not wearing a shirt to cover it up. There are pieces of the prosthetic arm from Piffle still attached to his shoulder and chest, but they are covered by bandages.
Kurogane notices Fai’s look and reaches up to pull at a lock of Fai’s hair, free from any restraints to hang around his shoulders. “Stop looking so guilty every time you look at me,” Kurogane says, his tone gentle.
Fai frowns and looks away, partly to save Kurogane the grief of having to see his expression and partly because he can only stand looking at Kurogane’s wound for so long. “Sorry,” He says under his breath.
“And for fuck’s sake, stop apologizing,” Kurogane says, his tone exasperated. There’s a pause. “If anything, I should be apologizing.”
Fai looks over at Kurogane in shock, and he almost looks offended. It’s kind of amusing. “For what?” Fai asks, standing up straight so that he can look properly at Kurogane. “What on earth could you possibly have to apologize for?”
Kurogane shrugs. “A few things.” At Fai’s questioning expression, Kurogane clicks his tongue and looks away. “I still… Feel bad for seeing your past without your permission.”
Fai blinks and furrows his brows. “That wasn’t your fault.”
Kurogane shrugs. “Still feel bad. It wasn’t something I should have seen. Your true name wasn’t something I should have heard. Not without your permission.”
“My… True name?” Fai repeats softly. “That was just… Another lie that was exposed. It’s not… You shouldn’t feel bad for that. Not when I was the one keeping it from everyone.”
Kurogane looks up at the sky, his eyes moving across the different constellations. “In Nihon, true names are sacred. They’re not something to be shared easily.”
Fai’s eyes widen at Kurogane’s words and their implications. His gaze skitters away, back down at the ground. The guards have changed position. “So Kurogane isn’t your ‘true’ name?”
Kurogane swallows. “No,” He says.
Fai nods, but does not say anything. He also does not lift his gaze, his hair covering his eyes in a way that is very familiar to Kurogane. Kurogane glances down at Fai, then back up at the sky, and then he curses under his breath and pushes himself off the railing to kneel on the stone. Fai lifts his head and looks down at Kurogane in confusion, his wide eyes glancing back and forth as if he is waiting for something else to appear.
“What are you doing?” Fai asks when no punchline seems to come.
“I have to be kneeling to reveal my name,” Kurogane says. The stone is cold against his knee through his light pants.
“Your–what? Kuro-sama, what on earth are you saying?” Fai asks. He reaches down to grab Kurogane’s bicep to pull him back up. “You don’t need to reveal anything to me, stand up–”
“My being belongs to my master,” Kurogane says, cutting Fai’s words short. “But my blood belongs to you.”
Fai’s breath hitches. Kurogane wants to lift his head to see Fai’s expression, but he must keep his gaze lowered.
“My blood and my soul,” Kurogane finishes. “I vow to live by that on my true name, which only my master knows.”
Kurogane finally does lift his head, and Fai looks absolutely terrified, like he is about to run for his life. His hand is still holding onto Kurogane’s arm though, and his grip tightens. Kurogane is sure that there are tears swimming in Fai’s eyes.
“You-ou.”
Fai swallows and takes in a shuddering breath. “You-ou,” He sighs, tasting the name on his tongue. Kurogane thinks that it should feel wrong for someone else to know his true name, someone other than his parents or Tomoyo. Instead, it sounds very right on Fai’s lips.
Kurogane stands, and Fai’s gaze follows him up, stays locked on Kurogane’s eyes. His hand is still around Kurogane’s arm. “It’s not much,” Kurogane says, his voice soft between them. “But it’s yours.”
There are definitely tears in Fai’s eyes now, threatening to spill over. He lowers his head to hide them, his forehead falling against Kurogane’s chest, and his hand slips down Kurogane’s arm to squeeze his hand.
Kurogane wishes that he had another hand in that moment just so that he could ruffle Fai’s hair. Instead, he just smiles and shakes his head. “Didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” He says, and Fai sniffs.
“That’s because you’re an idiot,” Fai says, his voice teasing even though it is thick with tears. He reaches up with his other hand to wipe his face, and when he looks up at Kurogane, his face is red and his eyes are puffy, but he is laughing. “How am I supposed to make nicknames with a name like that?”
Kurogane rolls his eyes, but he is still smiling. “I’m sure you’ll figure out a way,” He says, his fingers squeezing Fai’s hand just a little tighter.
Fai hums in agreement and stands up a little straighter, lifts his chin just a little bit more. “Yes, I’m sure I will, You-kun.”
Before Kurogane can say anything about the name, Fai is kissing him, and any complaints he may have had gets lost in Fai’s lips. Their mouths eventually separate, but they do not move apart. Fai looks up at Kurogane’s face and smiles.
“Valeria and Celes were not as fancy as Nihon,” He says, his voice just barely above a whisper. “So I don’t need to give any extra flare to tell you my real name.”
Kurogane is smiling–he hasn’t stopped smiling–and he quirks up a brow. “I already know it.”
“Yes, but you made such a big event out of telling me your name,” Fai says, and there is just a hint of amusement in his voice. “I want to tell you, too. I want to tell you myself that my real name is Yuui.”
Big blue eyes are warm, stars reflecting in them like a still lake, and Kurogane’s heart swells. He grins, his teeth bright in the darkness of the evening, and he lets go of Fai’s hand to wrap his arm around Fai’s back. Fai laughs as Kurogane pulls him in for another kiss, his hands coming up to land gently against Kurogane’s cheeks.
They do not fall asleep until the sun is beginning to rise. Fai has come up with a multitude of new nicknames by the time they do. Kurogane finds that he does not mind at all, not when it means Fai is by his side.

Chapter 5 - KuroFai FF
Kurogane was a way too cruel to Fai when he told him about everything he did with Yuui but he never was a nice human and people who know him should understand how it was meant. The problem was Fai itself. He took so many words and actions personally even if he didn’t show it and in Kurogane’s mind, Fai would accept his decision and would leave this world without Kurogane.
Before Kurogane had left the house, he had looked in his room and had noticed that Yuui was gone already. That was good, because Kurogane just needed a few minutes to himself for thinking about the words he said and that he had nearly touched Fai against his will.
“Idiot,” Kurogane hissed.
This day just started some hours ago but it was a mess already. Kurogane’s hand stroke through his hair while he was starring in the sky. It was clear blue, the sun was shining and some birds were ruining the silence.
“Could you shut up for a moment? I need to think,“ the black haired man complained.
Not knowing where his way led to, Kurogane began to move.
There was a path leading from their house to the city, but also a path into a little forest near the city. Kurogane went there from time to time when he wanted to be alone. He felt the presence of magic all over this world but it was stronger inside the forest. It was nice to be alone but also it was terrible to be surrounded by of all this magic and animals. That’s why he never stayed there for too long or went deeper into it.
Without realizing Kurogane had gone deeper, ignoring the strange feeling he had. The landscape turned into an opening with a lake. Only a few sunrays shone through the thick forest, the water surface started to sparkle while he could only hear birds, the burbling of water and the slightly wind.
For Kurogane’s taste it was a way too cheesy and tasteless but also … beautiful somehow? The perfect place for a world composed of magic.
Kurogane wanted to turn over immediately to leave this strange place but when he turned his head, he saw a person standing on the surface of the water.
He couldn’t see clearly who this person was nor if this person was human but he could feel something familiar.
While staring on the back of this one he examined the appearance and got clearly sure that it was Yuui… kind of. He wore a white coat with a big hood and the fabric was floating.
Well, Kurogane knew about Yuui being a magician too but he never used it … just like Fai. So Kurogane could just guessing which magic he controlled. It wasn’t a magic to fight it felt more like the opposite of Fai’s.
Kurogane still doesn’t know much about magic and even does not know why he was able to tell which is which but he really felt it. Maybe he got used to this world.
Yuui didn’t noticed him yet and Kurogane went some steps to his side without bothering him. Kurogane wanted to watch. Bright lights in different colors appeared around Yuui, floating over the surface and they felt warm when they suddenly came closer to Kurogane.
Surprise wasn’t the right word but Kurogane didn’t expect them to include him into Yuui’s… ritual? He still didn’t know what Yuui was doing.
“Don’t move,” Yuui gently spoke. His eyes were closed after all but he knew he wasn’t alone anymore.
“It may helps you to relax,” he continued. His arm rose with elegant movements like he was playing with the light balls.
“You just need to close your eyes.”
Yuui must have a strong feel of trust if he doesn’t bother to look who joined him.
Kurogane was on the point of telling Yuui that he wouldn’t do any kind of magic or want to be involved but his eyes closed automatically.
“…”
A soft smile laid on Yuui’s lips when a strong wind came, blowing the hood from his head. The wind played with his long hair.
He normally wore his hair in a messy updo so you couldn’t see how long it was. Kurogane could not even see the full length when they had sex because it was too dark. It was a bit longer than Fai’s.
Tiny and warm light balls danced around Kurogane and just some seconds later they disappeared.
“I can use magic too,” Yuui started to talk quietly. He still smiled softly when he turned around to look at Kurogane.
“I know,” Kurogane replied unimpressed. He already was aware of this but didn’t thought it would feel this relaxing.
Yuui smirked as he noticed his reaction. While he was still standing on the water the floating stopped and Yuui’s hair lay all over his shoulders.
“But unlike Fai I can use healing magic and a lot of supporting magic. I guess I couldn’t fight if I had to.”
It really was the opposite of Fai but Fai never used his magic to defend himself, instead pretending he wasn’t able to use it.
“Unlike Fai you’re using it. But what’s the point of comparing yourself to him?“
“I’m not comparing myself with him… not anymore. I lost to him I suppose,” Yuui smirked.
Yuui came closer when he talked to Kurogane, stopping right in front of him.
“What are you doing here, Yuui?” Kurogane wanted to know when he suddenly felt Yuui’s hand on his cheeks.
Yuui still smiled but it wasn’t honest like the days before. Kurogane felt he hides a pain deep inside his heart like his Fai does.
“I’m surprised you found this place, Kuro-sama. It’s my personal hideout, just a few people know about it since I’m hiding it with my magic.”
“You do?”
“You know… this place is really special to me. It holds most of my magic besides it is the only place I still can talk to… my Kurogane,” Yuui spoke with a slight sadness in his voice.
Kurogane didn’t move nor back away from his hand. He didn’t even responded to his words.
So, Yuui told him about Yuuko and a strong wish he had but couldn’t afford the payment but not about the wish itself. Kurogane knew this world’s Kurogane was already dead but not why he had to die. A lot of questions weren’t answered and he didn’t dare ask them.
Yuui walked on tiptoe to kiss Kurogane’s lips very gently before he pulled Kurogane with him onto the surface of the water.
Kurogane was shocked for a moment when he thought he would take a bath right then but instead he stood there with Yuui. The mage held his hands, stood close to him and looked in his eyes.
“I need to be close to use the magic, otherwise you’ll get wet,” Yuui explained.
“I hate magic,” Kurogane grumbled and Yuui started to laugh.
“I know. But trust me… just once.”
“I guess I have too.” Kurogane didn’t really meant it but he couldn’t admit that he really trusted him.
“You’re thinking about Fai, am I right?”
“Yeah…”
“That’s good… I guess. I’m sorry for messing with you and Fai but I wanted to see if you really share the same destiny,” Yuui started to talk. He closed his eyes struggling with himself not to cry.
“Yuui, what’s the point?”
“Do you remember when I told you my Kurogane died already?”
“I do.”
It felt strange and most of all: It suddenly happened. Kurogane didn’t come here to talk with Yuui, he just wanted to be alone. He was kind of confused that he found Yuui in the forest and just more confused that he stood with him on a lake now.
Kurogane wasn’t upset. He felt more calm than he ever did and that maybe was because of Yuui’s magic?
“Don’t judge me for not telling you and using you as an replacement. I really loved him and I still do. When he died I learned about Yuko and tried to talk to her but my wish was too… big. She couldn’t fulfill it, even if I could have paid for it. She just said that one day someone will appear in this world who is struggling with his own fate and if this person’s feelings were not strong enough for his destined one I could fulfill my wish.“
“You mean having _your_ Kurogane back?“ Kurogane was curious.
“It’s not that easy. You know… what’s once lost is forever gone. I may not be exactly like Fai but you appear exactly like my Kurogane. And the reason why Kurogane died is… me.”
Kurogane stopped to breath for a moment. Just for a few moments he thought about Fai’s behaviors and words. He never told him about his true intentions but hinted about them. Back to Yuuko’s words: The same souls in different worlds.
“What happened?“
“I had to kill him,” Yuui answered honestly.
The moment Yuui ended his words he waited for Kurogane to kick him away but nothing happened.
“Kurogane…?”
“You didn’t have bad intentions. I can feel your pure and broken soul. You must have had a good reason to do it,” Kurogane answered calmly.
“Show me what happened… I knew you can.“
Kurogane was still affected by Yuui’s magic when he pulled him closer. He released himself from Yuui’s hands and laid his arms around Yuui’s hips.
Yuui must have expected Kurogane would hate him instead of wanting to know more about his story.
After a long silence Yuui pulled Kurogane’s head closer and kissed him passionately to show him the past…

Tsubasa Chronicle Month - Day 7: Horitsuba
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever written, and somehow also the longest lol.
(AO3)
---
The students at Horitsuba Institute were accustomed to the unique environment of the school. It was an exceptionally friendly and accommodating place to be, even if some of the staff were rather…eccentric, to put it kindly.
One such example was Fai Flourite, high school Chem teacher. Easy-going and knowledgeable, he was beloved by the student body for his easy smile and interesting classes. That love, however, couldn’t hide the fact that he was a rather particular person.
(“He’s so passionate about his subject!” Sakura had said once when trying to describe him.
“More like unhinged.” Added Syaoran, with a worried tone.
“He’s your friendly neighbour mad scientist.” Finished Syaoron easily, hitting his twin on the shoulder.)
He liked to make his classes interesting, with experiments that may or may not end on fire. Everyone has to use safety measures though, so no one really gets hurt. Sometimes he’d show experiments that didn’t look suited for high-school. Other times he’d show experiments that didn’t look possible.
His age was a complete mystery. The only thing everyone agreed on was that he looked 27-ish but definitely wasn’t. Students had asked him, but they quickly realized he gave a completely different answer each time.
Asking Yuui, Fai’s twin and also the Economics teacher, wasn’t helpful either. The man had a more serious aura than his brother. Fai must have told him of his little game, however, because questions about his age were met with a fond laugh and nothing else.
The third thing everyone knew about professor Flourite, is that he was married. He mentioned his husband constantly, often by an array of equally ridiculous nicknames.
(Who calls his significant other a dog? Syaoran often wonders.
I think it’s rather cute! Sakura answered once when she was within earshot.
I change my mind. Syaoran immediately declared, causing Syaoron to laugh for five minutes straight.)
For what they have gathered from all his mentions of him, the mystery husband is also a teacher; more serious than Fai although that wasn’t a hard feat; a bit grumpy at times but ultimately an extremely kind person.
The real kicker came, however, when they asked Yuui about the husband. “Oh, he works here as well” he had said casually, like he hadn’t just thrown a gossip bomb to a pack of young, bored hyenas.
The students had started a sort of competition to figure out who the husband was. Fai had obviously heard about the game, because he had taken to not answering any questions on the subject, clearly enjoying the goose chase he had produced.
Syaoran had thought that the whole thing was ridiculous, and that the teachers’ personal lives wasn’t any of his business. So it was mostly by chance that he discovered the truth, one afternoon in P.E class.
The P.E teacher, Kurogane Youou, was another member of the staff with an odd reputation.
The man was another mystery. He rarely talked about anything that wasn’t relevant to his class, if he spoke at all. He had a look on his face that gave the impression that he was five seconds away from murder at any given time. He was also extremely tall, with a build that would give a professional martial artist a run for their money. Unlike Fai and Yuui, it was a known fact that he was in his late twenties, but he looked older. Jaded.
Are his eyes really red? The first years usually whisper in the first classes, It HAS to be a trick of the light.
Check the moon calendar, One student had once told another, when they were informed he would be absent that day. Maybe he’s a werewolf.
He was definitely a cop or in special forces, Other student had whispered, as he saw Kurogane break out a fight. He had picked up both students off the ground and each other at the same time, without any effort.
He has killed a man, for sure. Yet another said, after he had thrown a broomstick to the ceiling to retrieve a ball that had stuck between two crosspieces. He hit it point blank, like he had just thrown a lance. The broomstick cracked.
(That’s so rude! Sakura had anguished, having heard that last comment. He’s a really nice man!
Yeah, Syaoran had agreed. He’s super cool if you don’t piss him off. I’m sure the guy he killed definitely deserved it.)
The day Syaoran unintentionally won the competition they were playing football. Syaoran had missed the ball and suddenly found himself on the floor. When he tried to get up, his ankle burned furiously.
Syaoron was at his side in an instant, asking him if he was ok. He was about to call the teacher when the strong ringing of Kurogane’s whistle bounced through the gym. Syaoran was still amazed at the lung-power the man had.
“You okay, kid?” The teacher asked, kneeling in front of him.
“I think I twisted my ankle.” Syaoran told him, signaling to his left leg.
Kurogane directed his attention to his ankle, briefly asking him permission before touching it gently. Syaoran hissed.
“Yeah, you need this checked.” Kurogane said. “I’ll take you to the infirmary, everyone else wait here and don’t do anything stupid.”
The rest of the class agreed in unison, looking rather scared. Syaoran thought that there wouldn’t be a single noise coming from the gym for the following ten minutes.
“I’m going with you” Said Syaoron, in a voice that left no room for argument.
Kurogane nodded, and then told Syaoran: “I don’t want you making it worse, so I’ll just pick you up, okay?”
Syaoran’s face reddened. “You don’t need to do that!”
He tried to illustrate his point by getting up. His ankle had other ideas, and if the teacher and Syaoron hadn’t caught him in time, he’d have landed face-first on the floor.
“Yeah, obviously.” Kurogane deadpanned, still holding him by the shoulders. Syaoran admitted defeat.
Kurogane then kneeled with his back to him and told him to hang on from his shoulders. Syaoran did, and rather effortlessly, Kurogane stood up and started walking out. He didn’t even look fazed by the added weight.
“Do I weight anything to you?” He couldn’t help but ask.
“No.” Kurogane told him without missing a beat. Behind him, he could hear Syaoron snickering.
They made it to the infirmary, and Kurogane left the twins with the nurse to wait outside. As the woman checked his ankle, he couldn’t help to overhear a rather loud exchange happening outside:
“Look who’s here?” Said a sing-song voice belonging to their chem teacher. “you don’t show up in the building much, I thought you were soul-bound to the gym by now.”
The twins shared a dumbfounded look, while the nurse just rolled her eyes.
“Flourite sure is brave…” Commented Syaoran, doing a poor job in pretending not to eavesdrop.
“Or stupid.” Said Syaoron, who was pointedly and unashamedly trying to listen in.
The nurse clearly was ignoring everything, instead giving Syaoran an ice pack for his ankle and going away to fill his injury slip. The conversation outside continued.
“How the hell do you manage a class speaking like that?” Kurogane’s voice was sharp and dry. It was the kind of sound one would make if they had to explain what sandpaper was using only auditory cues. Syaoran shuddered a bit.
“Oh, you know you love it.” Fai said, voice unmistakably flirty now.
The twins were frozen in place, wondering how their stern, terrifying P.E teacher was reacting to all of that. However, the man’s next words left them both completely speechless:
“I told you a hundred times not to flirt with me when we’re working. Try and be professional.”
“Always so grumpy, big bad wolf.”
“Call me that again and I’ll divorce you.”
The twins looked at each other, as if to check if they had heard correctly. Kurogane Youou was the mystery husband?
Syaoran backtracked on his initial stance on his teacher’s love life. This was something else. Sakura would surely find this development adorable, somehow.

kurofai pokemon!au? kurofai pokemon!au.
fai and yuui come from a small, bustling town north of snowpoint city. sure, it has its problems with blizzards and strong winds, but overall a friendly town. the twins are just like any other kids living there, always playing in the snow with the local wild pokemon until they're old enough to become trainers.
one day a particularly powerful blizzard hits hard. no one thinks much of it (after all, that's the price you pay for living so close to mt. coronet) until an absol quietly appears after the storm subsides. some of the older townspeople, superstitious bunch that they are, scare it away, fearing it'll bring disaster down on them. absol vanishes but not before the twins see how it was mistreated for no reason other than its designation as the "disaster pokemon". they dress in their warmest clothes and slip out after absol, trudging through snow nearly half their height, to try and find it and apologize for the townspeople's behavior.
what no one realizes is absol sensed an avalanche and appeared to warn them to stay away from the mountains. the same mountains it calls home and that the twins were heading to.
though they've explored the path a million times over, the twins get lost in the white out conditions. even the pokemon they're befriended are nowhere to be seen. they call for help. no response. just as they give up and retrace their steps and head home, a rumble in the distance sounds and they run off to find shelter.
they find a small cave and huddle together for what seems like eternity until a blast of fire melts and clears the snow in front of the entrance. standing there are absol, along with a delphox and cryogonal and a man they recognize from watching his battles on tv. ashura, the snowpoint gym leader. it's then that they learn their first of many lessons from him. "always have a fire-type when in snowy conditions."
he helps them return home, clearing the path with delphox's flames and cryogonal helping navigate the path. ashura explains that he'd been doing some training in the area when absol found him and practically dragged him to where the twins were hiding. as they make their way back absol refuses to leave the twins' side, despite its loner demeanor. fai and yuui quickly grow fond of it as well.
once they're home again, absol continues to hang around and fai decides it'll be his first pokemon. the poor thing was misunderstood and needed a trainer who would love it unconditionally. before ashura leaves, the twins beg him to take them on as apprentices. he agrees once their parents give their consent, and their training begins. they visit the snowpoint gym several times a week, watching ashura battle, take care of pokemon, teach new trainers, everything that goes along with being a gym leader. when both twins decide to follow in his footsteps and specialize in ice-types, he helps yuui catch his first pokemon, a cubchoo.
the years pass. ashura takes them on travels with him to other regions to study their pokemon and catch more of their own. at one point they take a year off from training with him to take on sinnoh's pokemon league challenge and eventually meet him in battle for his badge. the battle is far from easy but they manage to scrape together wins. as ashura presents them with their badges, he offers them one more thing: to take on the role of gym leaders after the lily of the valley conference. he's getting on in years and wants to pass his gym down to worthy trainers. needless to say they agree.
a year after they settle into their new role, fai has the itch to travel again. as much as he likes being a gym leader with his brother, going out and exploring the world is an experience he feels like he hasn't gotten enough of yet. yuui assures him that he and beartic, his ace, can hold down the gym until they return, so off fai goes.
meanwhile, kurogane, fresh from a victory at the johto league silver conference heads to sinnoh to challenge their gyms next. he and his pokemon travel solo until one day they stumble upon fai and absol. fai, hanging upside down by his ankles in a tree, the unassuming victim of a trap someone had set to prank travelers with, and absol judging fai hard for falling for it. kurogane reluctantly helps him down (can't blame him for thinking anyone careless enough to fall out of a trap should get out of it themselves, and damn does this guy seem like the pain in the ass type). fai thanks him waaaaay too cheerfully for kurogane's liking; kurogane demands a battle in return, which fai refuses ("I'm so weak, I won't be worth your time!") but insists on traveling with him instead to keep him company. kurogane nopes the fuck away. fai follows along anyway, chatting the entire way (making that vein in kurogane's forehead throb is too fun not to).
much to kurogane's horror, they end up traveling the region together (meeting and including syaoran and sakura along the way). every time anyone, whether it's someone from their group, or random trainers they run into, fai turns down every battle challenge, opting to ref the battles instead. kurogane only grows more and more suspicious of him: his pokemon look strong, even tho he's never seen them do anything more strenuous than play fighting, and he seems to have an affinity for ice types, save for absol and kanto!persian, not to mention his knowledge about all things pokemon. he isn't just a lazy weakling like he keeps insisting he is. whenever they reach a gym, he always finds some excuse to vanish until after the battles. every. single. time.
eventually they reach the snowpoint gym and kurogane (and syaoran) are eager for the challenge. they'd heard how strong the twin leaders of the gym are more than once during their journey and were looking forward to the battle. fai, predictably, disappears. gym leader yuui appears to introduce himself and greet his challengers, and the group's jaws collectively hit the floor. a few seconds later fai follows him out and kurogane is Pissed. He could have been!!! testing himself!!! against a gym leader!!! every single day!!! fai, being the shit he is, is Living and explains he wanted to travel as a normal trainer, not a gym leader, so he kept his identity secret. to make up for it, he finally agrees to the battle kurogane asked of him when they first met, but this time it's kurogane who refuses. nope. he wants to battle them both. fai owes him that much after the endless headaches he gave him. the twins are amused but they go for it: 2 vs 1 double battle it is. kurogane goes arcanine, lucario, aegislash, and greninja against yuui's beartic and vanilluxe, and fai's absol and aurorus. a hard battle later and kurogane has his badge. after syaoran's victory, which takes him a couple tries, the group gets ready to head out again, under the presumption that fai will stay behind with yuui. but as they're saying their goodbyes, fai has one more surprise in store and announces that he'll be tagging along again. who else will keep kurogane on his toes, after all??

Day 8 - Free day
Since most of what I have written so far is damned depressive, I have decided that today will be a happy day XD. So what is happier than this wonderful Kurofay University AU setting? It is the same AU, but in the future, and is sappy as hell. Have fun! (In this Yuui is Tsubasa Fay, while the twin is still Fay)
“I am not nervous. You are!” Yuui whines as he were pacing back and forth in the living room. His worried twin brother Fay trying to make him calm down as it was bad enough that Kurogane were already stressed out. The two of them would walk a hole in the floor soon.
“You are both nervous!” Fay complains in the end, as he was starting to feel nervous for the two of them as well. Honestly, Yuui and Kurogane had been married since they went to University and they still sucked at handling stress. “It is still early, they weren’t coming before 6, it is still 5.”
“But what if something happens? What if there is complications? Or… what if they change their mind?” Yuui starts thinking of all the things that could go wrong, Fay getting even more nervous as he could see that Kurogane latched unto each word and seemed to grow more worried as well. “What if we don’t look like fitting parents when they come here?”
The fretting Yuui takes the 4th round around the house to make sure everything seemed ready and safe for the baby girl that was on her way. Kurogane quickly making his way to inspect the baby’s room once more. The crib was safely put up, the eager Yuui having decorated it with a lot of pretty colors when they had made the baby room. He bends down to check if there was anything on the sides that could hurt someone. Finding nothing like nails pushing out anywhere or any sharp edges the baby could against and hurt itself.
“You two are just making the other worse…” Fay stammers as he looks from Kurogane inspecting if the place was child safe, to Yuui scrubbing some corner of the kitchen he felt was a little too dirty.
Then complete silence covers the house, as the looming sound of the doorbell echoed through the halls. The husbands looks nervous at each other, Kurogane deciding that it was up to him to open the door, as Yuui looked like he would start crying from a mix of terror and anticipation.
They were about to get their first child. After a long process of getting their lives together, and proving that their past mistakes was not a factor of their lives anymore (and a lot of behind the scenes help from Yuui’s family) they had finally been accepted as parents for a little baby girl that had been given up for adoption. Because of their past though, they would be under supervision for the first year, and they felt like if they did one thing wrong the child would be turned around in the door.
They couldn’t bear that though. They had worked so hard for this child. They had decided they wanted to be a family, and also have a child together. It had all become more real as they worked on the baby room, each day filled with anticipation and excitement. They had spent one week just making a list of things they wanted to do once they were parents. It was a habit they had from the bad times. To plan their future and have something to look against when they were at their lowest. Still, this time it had not been like that. This time they were at their highest, and they just planned their happy future, while being happy.
Once he has collected himself a little, Yuui hurries after Kurogane as well, as Kurogane had found himself stop before opening the door. This was a big step. It was more than adopting a cat, or a stray twin brother. They were taking in a small human. A small human being that would be dependent on them for the next 20+ years. Were they really ready to make such a commitment?
A glance back at the blonde, who takes a hold of his hand, deciding that they did this together. “Let us become parents before we have a nervous breakdown overthinking it.”
“You are one to talk.” Kurogane chuckles, spurred on by his husband, as he finally opens the door, expecting to find a serious person saying they could not have a child, but instead found a smiling woman holding a small bundle in her arms, rocking it a little to keep it from waking up.
“Hello Suwas, I have a little girl here that are excited to meet the two of you.” She giggles, as she had been working with them for this for a while now, having felt like they really deserved this chance in life. Overwhelmed, Kurogane and Yuui moves aside to let her into the warmth, as it was growing cold outside for winter. The two of them starting to realize this Christmas would be even more special, as they were going to be an even bigger family. “She was feeling a little under the weather, so you have to make sure she isn’t around anyone sick for a few days, but other than that she is just the biggest sunshine ever!”
The eager woman starts handing the baby over to Kurogane, who tries to hide his panic as a small life was placed in his hands, but the worry fade, as the small bundle starts stirring in his arms, cradled on his ruined hand, even the fact he was handicapped not seeming like a challenge now, as it held the small form without any problems. Small eyes opens, looking curious at the people around, Yuui brushing her small head gently, his hands shaking as he was fighting tears. She was perfect. Even more perfect than he had ever dreamt she would be.
Even Fay were eagerly looking at his first niece now, wanting to poke her soft cheeks as she looked squishy.
Looking her new family over, the little girl gives a smile, as Kurogane walks to sit down, feeling like he needed to sit as he was getting quite emotional as well, putting her over his lap as he brushes her cheek gently, earning a little giggle. Before earning a hug from his husband, as both of them were crying now, having gained the biggest gift in the world.

Tomoyo pushed the door shut and turned around to face the glowering mountain of a man staring her down.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?! I don’t need you to come here and play matchmaker for me!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said, pulling out her emergency sewing kit so she could tend to Fay’s common robes.
“Cut the shit,” Kurogane said.
Tomoyo sighed and set her hands calmly down atop her supply box. “You do like him, don’t you? More than anyone else you’ve ever come across?”
“That doesn’t mean I’m going to marry him! And besides, it’s more like...I dunno! He’s weird!”
Tomoyo laughed a little. “What makes him weird?”
“He calls me dumb nicknames, lies all the damn time, has a weird face, sleeps on his stomach, his hair’s too poofy, he sleeps in too much, is too touchy, and no matter what I do the guy won’t leave me alone!” Kurogane hissed, trying to keep his voice down. “He’s around so much that when he’s not around, I have to go looking for him to make sure he’s not in trouble!”
Tomoyo tapped her finger against her chin. “So, you’ve paid so much attention to him that you know all that about him? And you don’t even like being without him anymore?”
“That’s not what I said!” But...it was what he said.
He didn’t like being alone without Yuui. When had that even happened? When had Yuui become necessary to his wellbeing?
“You’ve changed a lot because of him, Kurogane,” Tomoyo said.
The bathroom door opened, and after some protesting, Yuui finally emerged. Tomoyo looked absolutely delighted, and Kurogane...was stunned. Yuui, in his disguise, was strange to look at, but not entirely terrible. Seeing him standing there like this, though, made him wish he could see him with his natural hair and eyes. The makeup shimmered on his face, the hues complementing the robe perfectly. The fabric flowed like water over his body, cinching in all the correct places and leaving plenty up to the imagination. The red was vibrant against Yuui’s pale skin, and Kurogane could imagine how much it would bring out the blue of his eyes.
“Yuui, there is an important phrase that you should commit to your memory,” she said. “People are going to say things whether you’re wearing his colors or not — you said it yourself that they already have been. So...let them talk.” She smiled and then stepped into the bathroom to gather up his servants robes and set to work.
Kurogane felt like he’d just been dealt two punches right in a row, right to the gut. First, the realization that he didn’t want to be without Yuui — that he needed him there to feel...safe? Happy? He needed him.
Second, was how Yuui looked in those robes and the color it brought to his cheeks — just a tinge of pink dusting his features and making him look away from the sight.
“You’re too damn ugly to be mistaken for my wife anyway,” Kurogane grumbled, trying to play everything off.
Tomoyo laughed from her spot by the table.
“Kurogane, please, the whole continent knows you’re not interested in any sort of wife.”
Kurogane flushed even darker and glared at Tomoyo.
“Like you’re one to talk,” he snapped.
“Hm? I think Yuui would make a beautiful wife! But he’s not exactly my type,” Tomoyo said, sighing wistfully over Yuui, who truly looked beautiful in his new robes.
“You would be quite a pair if I could put Kurogane in a matching set. A handsome couple.”
“Would you shut up?!”
“I’m not saying that you are a couple! I’m just making an observation,” Tomoyo said. “It’s going to take me a bit to fix up these servants robes, so why don’t you take Yuui for a stroll? I bet the snow would be beautiful in contrast to the robes — ah, if only someone were around to sketch it!”
Kurogane wasted no time in taking her up on that offer, grabbing Yuui by the arm and pulling him along out the bedroom door, the robes swishing behind them as they walked, hopefully leaving Tomoyo far, far behind for a bit.

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle / CLAMP /  KuroFai / Fai POV
~
this moment of truth (and agony and delight)
~
He knows, he knows, and he'll hate me now,  is what runs through his head on repeat after the initial, heart-wrenching panic of "Kurogane is going to die" finally settles and fades.
Fai knows now that the ninja is going to wake up soon, though how soon "soon" is, no one can actually tell him, not even Nihon's Princess Tomoyo herself (and there's something about her that he hasn't the mind to figure out just yet, but he’ll get to it, eventually), so all that's left is for him to wait, and panic about other, just as important, things.
'No, he won't. He got you out of Celes.'  The voice sounds too much like his brother, when he would try to comfort Yuui when things got rough during their childhood.
Fai shakes his head, biting on his thumbnail.  He'll hate me, he will, I just know it. Especially now . Oh yes, especially now.
'He hasn't given up on you yet,'  the voice whispers gently, causing a shiver to run up Fai's spine. He shakes his head again. 'After all the lies, and all the tantrums, he's still here.'
Fai runs his hands through his hair, roughly tugging at blond strands.  Not for long, not for long. Just wait! He'll wake up and cast me away… He shudders, chokes back a sob.  He's seen what I've done, he knows the kind of misfortune I bring, they all do. He'll cast me away, they all will. His little family, he has their blood on his hands, why would they still want him around?
Something that sounds like a sigh. A cross between pity and exasperation.  'Kurogane has bled for you. Gave up his entire arm for you.'
He shouldn't have, he shouldn't have  .  I don't deserve it.
'He could have let you there, if he thought you were beyond forgiveness. He wouldn't have fought so hard for you.'
And that's the most puzzling thing of all, isn't it. After all he's done to push Kurogane away ever since Tokyo, after all the fights, and all the cold shoulders, and all the pain he knows he's caused, Kurogane still sacrificed so much for him. Gave up a literal piece of himself and took Fai away from everything that held him back, from everything that held him from really living his life.
I love him, he thinks, testing the words (it's the first time he lets himself). They feel strange and wonderful.
'And he loves you,'  whispers the voice, echoing throughout his entire being with the truth, the certainty of it.
He breathes. Opens eyes he hadn't even known he'd closed. Yes, he does, doesn't he?  Fai looks down at his sleeping companion with something akin to wonder.  Kuro-sama really loves me .
And for the first time in his life, he doesn't feel terrified.

For @wingprincess32, Kurogane catches Fai sleeping in his robe, set in Horitsuba verse and endearing half-asleep fluff for anon (glad you like my writing and I hope you enjoy!)
Irritation seeped into every inch of his body and it took all of his willpower not to glare at the people around him. It wasn't their fault that he was kept behind at the school, having been roped into helping clean up after the science fair. How Fai got out of helping when it was his department, he'll never know, but he was sure to get an earful when he got home.
His bad mood must have been showing on his face though because people were giving Kurogane space. That was more than okay with him, but did little to quell his bad mood. It didn't help that as soon as he stepped off the train, there was a loud crack of thunder overhead. That was the only warning he received before rain began to pour down upon him.
With a loud curse, he stalked off towards his apartment, glad at least for the fact that it wasn't a long walk from the train station. He stomped up the stairs, mentally going over the lecture he was going to give his boyfriend, pulling out his keys as he went. It took but a moment to unlock his door and step into the dark apartment. He flicked the lights on as he slipped out of his shoes, setting them to the side as he pulled off his coat, setting it on an empty hook to dry.
He had expected Fai to be out in the living room, television on and grading papers since he hadn't been to help at the school. Yuui was out of town for the week, so he couldn't be spending time with him. There was a light on in the bedroom though, so he made his way back there.
"Fai, are you..." The words died in his throat at the sight of his boyfriend laying on his stomach on the bed, wrapped up in Kurogane's robe and cuddled up to one of the pillows. He let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair before stepping in to the bathroom to get cleaned up.
When he finished his shower and stepped back into the room, Fai was still on the bed, not having moved an inch. Kurogane sighed, taking a seat on the bed next to him and running a hand through his hair. "Hey.. Come on, wake up."
Fai made a small noise, nose scrunching up in an adorable way before his eyes blinked open. "Kuro-sama? What time is it?"
"Late. Looks like you forgot something before laying down."
Fai muffled a yawn, pushing himself so he could sit up and he looked down at himself. The robe wasn't tied shut and showed that he hadn't put on anything underneath, and a small, sheepish smile formed on his lips. "What can I say? I like wearing your stuff."
All the earlier irritation Kurogane had been feeling towards his boyfriend was gone, melted away in the face of that sleepy smile. He watched a pale hand lift to rub at tired eyes, affection twisting in his chest. He debated whether he should bring up being left alone to clean up the science fair when Fai beat him to the punch.
"Sorry for not coming by to help with the science fair. The kids have been so excited all week, and I've been working so hard to get everything together that I guess I was more run down than I thought. I meant to just take a little nap before heading back, but Yuui called and I lost track of time. Can you forgive me?"
Kurogane had noticed Fai having less energy this week, so he could understand it finally catching up to him. And it wasn't like it was that big of a deal that he had to help with the cleanup. "Of course I can. You know that."
The smile he received filled him with warmth. It lasted for only a few seconds before he was being pushed onto his back and a lithe body was settling on his hips and warm hands sliding up his chest.
"Hyuu~ My poor Kuro-tan went through so much effort to help me~ He's so kind and forgiving~ If only there was a way for me to show my appreciation for him."
Kurogane just rolled his eyes, an amused smile tugging at his lips as he wrapped an arm around a thin waist, pulling Fai closer to him. "Idiot... I'm sure I can think of a few ways."
Fai let out a soft giggle that was quickly muffled by a kiss. Kurogane still wanted to give him a lecture about avoiding responsibilities, no matter the reason for it, but this was much more enjoyable for the both of them.

So No updates yesterday. Redemption might get an update tonight because the chapter is done and has been beta’d and just needs another look over to tweek minor details but surprise surprise! I didn't have time while I was out of town.
The good news is that I did refresh my creative muse and I have been itching to write all weekend. I’m at work now but we’re slow and I don’t have any plans this week so everything is going to get updated by Sunday <3
Spoilers not spoilers are some really interesting ideas for the the world Kuro-chan, Fai, and Yuui are going to be traveling to in Redemption. I decided to stick with a wonderful idea that I hope none of you are expecting and I cant wait to get working on it!!!!!!! We’re going full circle lovelies!!! FULL CIRCLE.
Slightly more spolierish news and some not what you are expecting turns in Kurogane and Fai’s night in  私に薬の主人を呼んではいけない. Will Fai loose the keys to the handcuffs? I think so.... I have a really fun scene written out that is just perfect!! Before we even get to that I need to rewrite there impromptu date from Kurogane’s pov and I am so excited to tweak some things that happen after Fai gets a little two drunk(Dont worry... Our very very serious Kuro-Officer is going to get just as drunk) I’m using this chapter to really cement Kuro-chan’s affections for Fai so expect our favorite drug lord to be extra lovable!!
Anyhow that’s whats up with the fics!!! I still really love them and I am excited to work on them!! It’s just surprisingly time consuming to type of 8-13k words a week and I’m running out of prewriten material for Redemption so updates will probably start swapping weeks. So one week for Redemption and next week is   私に薬の主人を呼んではいけない
Thank you all so much for you love and support!!!

Based on your (and mine!) favorite post of the nobody of Kurogane is real: Kurogane thought he knew what kind of future laid ahead for him and had prepared to live a hard life but this was fucking ridiculous. How the hell did /this/ become his life???
Kurogane was a man who made plans. His father had taught him the importance of planning, his mother spoke often of the need to think ahead, whether you could see the future in your dreams or not. He thought he knew where his life was heading and what he would grow up to become, but his nightmares had ripped their way into reality and the scorched earth of his lost home demanded a change of plans.
His failure to find his mother’s murderer was yet another unexpected twist on his path.
He trained hard, worked himself day and night until he was the best. He was prepared to live his life protecting Tomoyo from the world, giving himself entirely to her and damning all else to the dark and forgotten places in his heart where all his other failed dreams were buried. Kurogane had no fear of hard work and he was no stranger to difficulties and unexpected upsets, but to be cast aside and thrown worlds away without warning was, to put it mildly, fucking uncalled for.
That first night, surrounded by strange strangers in a world filled with stranger things still, was not the first night Kurogane had to swallow the bitter bile of homesickness.
He lost himself for a while in the routine, if it could be called that. Soon, he lost himself in his companions – the children, the manjuu, the magician. He found himself caring, and wasn’t that just the most unexpected thing in all of this? He had given up on family and love and a true and proper home, the home that warms the heart with each beat, so long ago. He almost foolishly forgot that it was something he could lose.
The new Syaoran wasn’t to blame, as much a victim in all of this as any of them. Kurogane allowed himself a single evening, one lone night beneath the starless sky, to mourn. He sat atop the needlessly tall building, as far from where he had lost a son as he could get, and wept to the endless night. It was only a few tears, but it was more than he had shed since he was a boy.
Syaoran had not been Syaoran, he hadn’t been a person. He was only a tool meant to service the man who had killed Kurogane’s mother. Somehow, that didn’t matter. Syaoran was his son and if Kurogane couldn’t get him back he would do the boy justice by stopping him from doing more harm.
Kurogane had been sure, especially after those impossibly long, dark six months, that nothing else could swipe the floor from beneath his feet again, not like back in Tokyo.
Fai… Yuui…
Leave it to that aggravating, enraging, broken man that Kurogane loved more than he had ever thought possible to prove him wrong.
Not that it mattered in the end. Fai or Yuui, which ever name he used Kurogane loved him with everything he had and more. He would do all he could to prove it until it finally managed to sink into that thick skull of the magician’s, though, the look in his eye as Kurogane threw down his sword along with his left arm and pulled him free from Celes told Kurogane that maybe he finally got the message.
If Kurogane hadn’t found out the truth about Sakura amidst such tragedy it might have been funny at that point. He would never know, though. Now he had lost a son and a daughter and he was useless to protect either of them.
He healed, bitterly ignored the acid that churned in his gut and took solace in the feel of the true Ginryuu’s cool, silver hilt. No matter what he did, though, Sakura’s sweet, smiling face stayed with him. He could hear her laughter on the breeze and every time he closed his eyes the same terrible scene was there waiting for him, like it had been burned into the back of his eyelids.
The night before they were due to leave, destination set for Clow country, Kurogane sat outside and thought about how differently his life had turned out compared to how he had expected it. He wondered what he would think of himself if he could have looked into the future as a child.
He decided on confused and rather upset by the time Mokona came bouncing through his screen door. She perched herself on his shoulder and happily took the small cup of sake he offered her.
“You’re not going to end up telling me you’re not who you say you are, eh, manjuu?” he asked, and he couldn’t be sure if he was more serious or not.
“Mokona promises that Mokona is Mokona!”
“Heh, alright. And I promise that I’m me,” he said. refilling both of their cups. He had no idea how this had become his life and he’d long since given up trying to guess where it was going to end up. All he knew was that he loved this odd group of misfits he’d found himself with and he would do whatever it took to keep them safe.
Kurogane supposed, as far as plans went, that wasn’t half bad.
