𝐀𝐎𝐓 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 🎧
Tumblr media
characters: Eren jager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, Jean Kirschtein, Connie Springer, Sasha Braus, Marco Bodt
warnings: modern au? just playlists specially curated by me based off of my perceptions of each character and what I think they'd enjoy music wise :)))
𝑬𝒓𝒆𝒏 𝑱𝒂𝒆𝒈𝒆𝒓:
Is most definitely into dark indie, slow rap and r&b with some lowkey electronic
BIG TIME THE WEEKND ENTHUSIAST. Loves himself some Chase Atlantic too.
a lot of people would assume Eren listens to hardcore rock or even heavy hitting rap, which he isn't opposed to
but considering Eren's outward life, whether it be family issues or whatever, I imagine that he would prefer his music to be more laid back and steady
𝑴𝒊𝒌𝒂𝒔𝒂 𝑨𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏:
Mikasa we all know is just a lil emo and her music taste is a slight reflection of that. Indie rock, alternative, folk rock all within her realm.
Now as soft spoken and gentle as this girl is, definitely wouldn't put it past her to listen to heavy metal just casually on a walk
She is a huge fan of Lana Del Ray, Mitski, Clairo, TV Girl, and Cigarettes After Sex
LIVE. LAUGH. LOVE. LANA DEL RAY. is def one of Mika's playlist names.
𝑨𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒓𝒕:
Is a huge alt pop, synth indie, post-punk lover
Armin's taste in music is honestly what would be used to score any and all great coming of age films
LOVES The Wallows, Bleachers, OneRepublic, and Coldplay
He is definitely the person you hand the aux to on a summer roadtrip
𝑱𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑲𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒊𝒏:
Jean's music taste is probably the most diverse compared to everyone else's
His genre bases being alt hiphop and r&b, indie rock, and trap soul
His faves being Cigarettes After Sex, Brent Faiyaz, and The Neighbourhood
This is the man you want to go on a late night drive with through the city
𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒆 𝑺𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓:
Connie is literally 2010s rap and hiphop personified
his fave genres being alt hiphop, r&b, west coast rap/hiphop
Connie is a big time Tyler the Creator fan, loves himself some J. Cole and SZA
Connie is the person you hand aux to at any and all parties, guaranteed satisfaction with him on music
𝑺𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒂 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒖𝒔:
Sasha is who you go to if you want to feel like you're a teen girl alone in your room with a hair brush in hand pretending its a microphone
her genres being alt pop, indie, Kpop, electro pop, and art pop
she was there for the resurgence of bands in the 2010s, and was a hardcore stan of all of them (5SOS, 1D, The Vamps, Little Mix, Fifth Harmony etc.)
she definitely still holds onto the hope of a 1D reunion
her faves being Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Harry Styles, Gracie Abrams, Taylor Swift
𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒐 𝑩𝒐𝒅𝒕:
Marco is a softie and it reflects in what he listens to
His main genres been electric r&b, alt pop, and indie
Marco's favorite artists would be: BROCKHAMPTON, Khalid, Daniel Caesar, and Omar Apollo
Marco has definitely gone to multiple concerts of his faves and collects their vinyls

Resident Evil Music Headcanons
A/N: Did a poll on what kind of headcanons I should write next, and this one won. Here ya go :)
Chris Redfield
Tumblr media
-Loves classic rock from the 70s and 80s
-It reminds him of his childhood/teen years
-I also think he'd like a *little* bit of country too
-He seems like he's the type to collect vinyl/cds/cassettes
(Most of these were based off of my dad lol love ya male parental unit)
Leon S. Kennedy
Tumblr media
-I already established this in a previous headcanon compilation about him, but he likes a lot of grunge rock
-He would have been a teenager in the early 90s, there's no way he didn't listen to it
-When he gets older, he still pertains that love for the music from his youth
-However, I think older Leon would unironically listen to divorced dad rock (if you don't know what that is, look it up, its a real thing)
Albert Wesker
Tumblr media
-Most of his music consists of classical music (Y'know like Beethoven or whatever)
-Also has a soft spot for smooth jazz and opera, idk it just suits him.
-I think its also worth noting that he hates newer music/today's music, and he'll go out of his way to complain about it whenever it's on (or whenever the topic of music comes up)
Sherry Birkin
Tumblr media
(Once again the only gif I could find of her. I couldn't even find her as a kid. The quote is cute though <3)
-She likes 90s and 2000s teen pop music (boy bands too)
-Growing up, I like to think she really wasn't allowed to listen to a lot of music.
-But after Raccoon City, music kinda became an escape for her
-She just listened to a lot of whatever was popular at the time (ex: Spice Girls, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, etc, etc)
-Definitely had a little pink iPod as a teenager
Claire Redfield
Tumblr media
-Overall, I think she likes a little mix of everything
-But she tends to lean towards a lot more female artists than male ones
-I also think she wouldn't really care for rap/hiphop music
-Theres nothing in particular she dislikes about it, it just never appealed to her :/
And that's all for now! I hope you liked these, sorry that the character selection was a little all over the place lol 😅
I think I'll do middle names next (I really wanted to do that one actually)

Sonic character music HCs
I’ve been obsessed with both the Sonic the hedgehog series and Music in general for over a year now, so i figured i could combine those interests in a fun way. I’m gonna describe what kind of music i personally think the characters would like/listen to. And just so you know, this is just my thoughts on it, i’m not saying im right or anything. And while i am trying to match these genuinely, it’s also not something i’m taking fully seriously. I’m just doin this for fun :)
I also suggest looking up some of the terms/artists/genres i use here if you’re not already familiar with them! Might help you understand my reasoning a bit more, and who knows, you might even find a new favourite artist 👀
Oh, and one more thing. While i am of course going to go off of music i’m familiar with, i’ll try to avoid assigning characters music that i like just because its music that i like. That being said, i will of course, be just a tad bit biased. Anyways, time to start with the blue boy himself!!
Sonic
Sonic is somewhat easy. Seeing as how his main thing is standing up against tyranny, i imagine he’d definitely be a fan of punk. At first i thought of pop punk specifically, due to its high energy, but i feel like Sonic would find it a bit too commercial. Same thing with skate punk. I feel like anarcho-punk could be a little more up his alley? Maybe something like chumbawumba.
Oh, and personal bias time: I think he would like King gizzard and the Lizard wizard due to the themes of enviromentalism.
Example of Sonic’s music taste
Tails
Now, i’m completely split between two different paths here. The first option is EDM. Just overall music that sounds electronic, maybe dance, i dunno. The second option however, is one that i personally prefer: Just like, music with weirdass time signatures and polyrhythms n shit. Math rock, Prog, that kinda stuff. Specific bands i’m thinking about is Tool, King crimson, Black midi, maybe even KGLW (again, personal bias). Tails would think music theory is fucking dope and would be OBSESSED with this kinda music lmao.
Example of Tails’ music taste
Knuckles
Now, this is the rare instance that i feel justified in being biased, because his level themes in sa2 make me believe that knuckles is a hiphop head. Specifically, instrumental hip hop. I think he’d be a big fan of J Dilla’s style of hip hop production in general, with the soft fuzzy feel of songs like The light. Otherwise i feel like he likes some boom bap, like Illmatic.
Example of Knuckles’ music taste
Amy
I honestly feel like Amy is the kinda person who enjoys like, any type of music? Like this gal will listen to some chill folk music and then go directly to hardcore industrial rock lmao. I think her favourite genre is pop though. First artist that pops into mind is Carly rae jepsen, not only because she makes great pop music, but also since her songs are often about love, which i feel fits Amy pretty well. She’d probably like something more off-kilter like art pop too. She LOVES Björk, i feel confident in saying that.
Example of Amy’s music taste
Shadow
I’ve noticed that this one is quite varied (and if you’re curious, i don’t really mind the whole taylor swift thing, but i also don’t really care for it either), but i want to bring up a genre that i haven’t seen anyone else suggest Shadow being a fan of: Shoegaze. I think he would find the whole noisy, dreamlike, nearly overwhelming feeling of shoegaze calming. I don’t know, there’s just something about Shoegaze that makes me feel like it fits shadow perfectly. Only bands i really know are Slowdive and My bloody valentine, but i still feel confident in my opinion.
I also feel like the idea of him enjoying indie folk (something like the mountain goats) but would not be caught DEAD listening to it is really funny. The day that rouge finds out will not be a happy day for anyone in a ten mile radius.
Example of Shadow’s music taste
Rouge
Now, there’s a very easy answer here. Jazz. But i feel like rouge would also enjoy stuff like Soul and funk. She’d also check out music Shadow listens to, both to annoy him and out of genuine interest. Not much else i have to say here tbh.
Example of Rouge’s music taste
Omega
Harsh noise.
Silver
Similarly to Amy, i think Silver enjoys practically anything and everything, and is also super open to trying new stuff. If he has a preference though, i think he enjoys dance music? Or just electronic stuff in general. Daft punk comes to mind, specifically Discovery.
Example of Silver’s music taste
Blaze
I feel like Blaze is someone who simply hasn’t been able to listen to a lot of music yet? Her friends (particularly Silver and Amy) have given her a bunch of recommendations, and while she doesn’t have a preference yet, she has enjoyed some of the stuff that they have played.
Vector
On the complete contrary to Blaze, Vector is a supreme Music nerd. You name an artist or album, he is at the very least aware of them. He’s the kinda guy who will talk about some super obscure folk album from the 70′s and refer to it as if its some kind of holy grail. It’s great. He would have a vinyl collection, but due to the chaotix’s financial situation, he settles for CDs instead. Again, he enjoys practically anything, but i feel like his favourite genre is progrock. He also remixes music for fun.
And thats it!! I’ll try to think of more that i can add in a reblog, but for now, this is all that i can think of. Again, this is just my opinion, but i’d love to hear some of yalls thoughts!! why you think im correct or wrong or however!!

Hi.
I just wanted to thank you as I have spend the last couple of evenings going through your posts. I love how level headed you are and you offer a lot of insights for me as a baby (toddler? preschooler?) ARMY.
I really love Jimin, I consider him to be one of the most beautiful humans on earth, and that is inside and out. With a voice of an angel to match.
Watching Jikook interact is my happy place (as is the whole BTS), when I watch them I get a sense that this world is not entirely shit, if something so beautiful and tender as their bond (love) can exist.
I was very happy to read about how much you love the rapline b/c I share this with you.(Hobi is the best live performer this side of Milky Way, I am in awe of Namjoon, and I am in love with Yoongi) Just an fyi, BTS rapline has a very interesting ability to atract people like me who did not like hip hop. I am a metal fan (symphonic metal like Nighwish, melodic and poetic lyrics), and my whole life I was trying to understand how can someone voluntarily listen to rap music. I didn´t get the appeal, the usual lyrics of US rappers disgust me and as whole, I avoided the genre.
Do you know what changed my mind? Ugh, Tear and Daechwitta. These three songs are surely my most streamed songs on spotify.
whew, after this essay here is my ask:
Can you please talk about Yoongi. like anything at all you want? maybe you have some archived posts from your previous blog? Or what do you expect him to do for D3? Or talk about his relationships with the members? I love how much he loves Jimin and Hobi and I truly believe that he would be the first one to take a bullet for any of the members.
So pretty please ? give me something to read and feed my obsession :-)
Thanks and have a great weekend, I will be looking forward to your future posts, whether you decide to answer mine or not LOL Cheers.

Hi Anon, 💜
A quick comment on rap music and hip hop - this is easily the most diverse music genre in the world. Rap literally stands for Rhythm and Poetry, and this is music that has fueled political/class revolutions, rejuvenated Obama's 1st term campaign, and helped heal generational trauma. Much of it goes beyond bad bitches, pumping a rival full of lead, or big gold chains. RM, Yoongi, and Hobi are all legit hip hop heads who listen to and gain inspiration from the music you might find objectionable, to create the somewhat sanitized tracks you love in Ugh, Tear, and Daechwita. But please understand BTS are pulling from a long, old, tradition of Black rap music and there are many examples of Black artists employing that genre in the exact way BTS have: including J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, 2Pac, Lupe Fiasco, Lecrae, Noname, and Logic. I understand how some of hiphop is crude, misogynistic, and needlessly violent, and this probably shapes how you view the genre as a whole, but as a Black and Asian woman who listens to a lot of hiphop I'm sharing this perspective to show it's not all black and white, and that there's too much good in the genre to write it off as a whole. At its core, rap is about authenticity, freedom of expression, and flow. BTS has been one way for you to tolerate the genre, but you might be surprised to learn rap has a lot more in common with metal rock music than you might think. Just food for thought..
*
I loved reading your essay, but the truth is I hate writing about Yoongi, Namjoon, or Hoseok. Probably because I'm not a natural writer, I sometimes struggle to express myself in English, and I'm a little in love with (and almost perpetually tongue-tied by) my biases in the rapline. No matter how hard I try I can't seem to come off as anything but a bumbling simp with no self respect who will gladly throw her panties in their faces if given the chance.
Ahem.
But you're not here to read my excuses, so I'll try to briefly talk about one thing I love about Yoongi: his voice.
Yoongi has the deepest voice in BTS, after which is Namjoon, then Taehyung. Yoongi is also very versatile in how he uses his voice. Out of all the members, I think he speaks the most softly in his everyday speech, after Jimin, but he also cusses the most in his natural speech. In their earlier years you could hear his dialect almost every time he spoke (less so now), whenever his temper rose you'd hear it in how his voice went sort of sideways. I don't know how to explain it, but he wouldn't raise his voice, he wouldn't lower it, but it would sound a bit more... harsh and maniacal?
And because this is Yoongi we're talking about, he knows exactly what his strengths are and utilizes them to the fullest. He knows people go gaga over his voice, and so since 2013, he has highlighted his voice in his radio shows including DJ Suga Honey FM.
The 'honey' there is not by accident.
One of my favourite pass-times in 2020, was listening to the radio Vlive Yoongi did with Jimin on May 30th.
Tumblr media
(Cuties)
I'd play it when I was cleaning my home, buying groceries, or doing laundry. Yoongi and Jimin's voice in that Vlive is so calming to listen to, it feels like this:
Tumblr media
(like settling into a warm velvet bean bag on cold winter day)
I'm a bit of an audiophile so these are the sorts of things that get to me. In that radio episode, these grown men make cringe sound effects, Jimin puts Yoongi on the spot so many times you hear it in how Yoongi chuckles nervously, they can't take each other seriously enough to not burst into laughter every 5 minutes. They just sound at ease, at home in their friendship, it doesn't feel like millionaires making a company-sponsored production for fans, it sounds like two guys goofing off and being so sweet and clever at the same time.
*
Jimin is my favourite vocalist in BTS, and Yoongi's vocal inflections when rapping and singing is my favourite in BTS. He has a keen music sense that comes through in his harmonizing and layering. An example:
My Universe (timestamp - 2:02 - 2:20)
youtube
(Yoongi's harmonizing verse is the most replayed segment in almost all the versions of this song)
*
That thing I said about his voice going sideways when he's pissed off, you hear it in his music. I'm struggling here but bear with me as I try to explain what I mean.
Yoongi sometimes sounds like a child when he's pissed off. Where RM leads fully with a deep voice when he's cutting into a bastard, Yoongi goes full joker on you. The tone in his voice sounds juvenile, like a child taunting you in the most annoying way possible, sticking their tongue out and waving their toosh in your face knowing there's nothing you can do to them. It's the kind of taunting that gets under your skin so quick and nobody in BTS has perfected it better than Yoongi.
An example:
What Do You Think (timestamp - 2:09 - 2:58)
youtube
*
I love how Yoongi has rounded out his manner of speaking as he's matured. He still cusses at the drop of a hat but he's become more delicate with his speech, at least to fans on camera, and I've noticed this towards Namjoon, Hobi, and Jungkook too sometimes in recent years. He seems to be most loose in his speaking with Jimin, Jin, and Hoseok (again).
Last year, people (rightfully) lost it over his voice in this Vlive:
youtube
...but the way he spoke also was straight-forward and very kind.
*
Yoongi has been fielding marriage proposals since January 21, 2013 when he was first introduced to ARMY as a member of BTS, and there's very good reason for it. In my opinion. I think Yoongi, Namjoon, and Hoseok are men and artists worth thirsting over in every fucking way.
Nobody asked, but I think this is important info for determining compatibility for anybody curious: I'd rate their sex drive thus: Namjoon > Hoseok = Yoongi. Backed by empirical evidence.
Tumblr media
I'm excited for Indigo, and have almost lost my mind with glee at how it's very likely we're getting D-3 right after it. Yoongi could do something more acoustic as he's been saying for some time now. He's gotten more comfortable singing as the main vocal on his tracks, and we know it's likely his next album will have Adora on it too complementing him. I want him to have a track that's Spoken Word, something like this:
youtube
*
This is the most I can bear to say about Yoongi now Anon.

Kim Jonghyeon Interview [1st Look, November 2022]
Tumblr media
[source - thank you discopixi!]
We've seen "Acrostic Poem Master" Kim Jonghyeon in action. (laughs) How many have you done at this point?
I'm not sure. I did so many when we shot the 1st Look digital video today. Making acrostic poems is like solving problems. More than being good at it, I feel like I get lucky every now and then so I get a pass.
It's like your talent. Once you've done it one time, it's a special skill that you often get asked to do elsewhere. That's how deep of an impression it left. Is your album coming out in November in its final stage?
We've been working on it for about three months. Finally, we've finished recording, but there's still a lot to do. The album's name is MERIDIEM. It's Latin for "noon", when the sun is at its strongest.
It's quite meaningful for a start. What were your expectations or mindset for your first solo album?
It is. Since it's the first album that has my name on it, that's filled with only my voice, I was actually more scared than excited. While I was working on it, I kept thinking about how the fans would listen to it or receive it. That was how I managed to control my fears.
Though you wanted to know about others' reactions, you must have had a lot of time to focus on yourself while preparing for the album on your own.
Since I focused entirely on myself, I felt a lot of things in that time. I would sometimes think, "I can do this kind of voice" or "I can express this much." Though on the other hand, it was through those thoughts that I became deeply aware of my shortcomings.
What were those shortcomings?
When I was promoting in a team, I was mostly doing rap, so I didn't have a lot of time to practice singing. While I was preparing for my solo album, I had to fill up an entire song on my own so I practiced a lot, thinking about what I lacked.
Since it's a solo album, the album name must have just been the start of a lot of decisions you had to make. Did your decisions have more weight this time? We heard that you were the type to think alone about a decision for a long time before making it.
I thought so much about what kind of music I wanted and how to express it. So it was hard just to do it based on my own opinions. I talked a lot with my company's CEO, and he said that it would be good if we could fully express what the person called "Kim Jonghyeon" is thinking right now. Those words alone really got to me. Maybe that can be read when people listen to the album.
You've been credited as the writer of several songs while Nu'est was promoting. Will we be able to hear some of your lyrics this time as well?
Songs I've written are in this album. We're done working on it, but I got quite interested in it so I intend to keep writing more lyrics.
What aspect of it are you interested in?
Firstly, I thought that I'd like to tell my story. Each person has certain stories only they can tell and lyrics are the same. I want to record all my thoughts and feelings. That process was really interesting.
Ordinary things that leave an impression can one day be written as lyrics.
That's right. I have times when I think, "Oh, this is a nice word? This topic is good, too" just passing by somewhere. Then I usually write it in the notes app in my phone so I can use it for later. Lately I've been listening to emotional hiphop music. When I look at the lyrics, I feel like I naturally learn things. "This is how someone might think. This is how someone might express themselves."
Another special thing about this album is that it's been 10 years since your debut. There must not have been a lot of time to cut yourself some slack while you were going through it. Since it's all passed, what are some things that have crossed your mind since then?
I think I've learned how to be a bit more relaxed. When you look for the answers calmly, instead of hastily, you're able to get a better answer.
Have you also gone through a slump before you were able to reach that calmness?
Of course, in that length of time, it's impossible not to have gone through a slump. I wasn't able to get over it masterfully every time, but I just didn't want to get too consumed by that feeling. When I get faced with difficulties, I'm the type to go, "Let's do the things I can do first." It's hard not to think that a difficult time won't turn into a slump that lasts forever, but that's just how I choose to spend that time.
You seem to have learned how to think realistically having been through a lot over a long time. You don't have any anxieties over this new album?
Since I have to show my whole self, "Kim Jonghyeon" the artist, I've prepared more thoroughly. I've done my best, thinking, "Let's keep going until [the album] comes out," and as time passes, I keep thinking I have to do even better. Though of course, this isn't to think hastily or impatiently.
You showed your whole self in today's shoot, too. Though you've had solo shoots during your group activities, is your mental attitude a bit different now?
It felt like it was a new start. Talking about my album in this interview and hearing questions about myself makes me feel like the time for me to show everything I've prepared has truly come. I even tried poses that I probably wouldn't have done on any other shoot.
Now that we've finished the shoot and we're doing the interview, the time on the clock says that it's 2:30 in the afternoon. Since your album's concept is MERIDIEM or noon, when is your favorite time of day?
My favorite is the cool night time, from about 9pm to 12mn?
You posted a picture of the Han River a few days ago, and it was right around that time.
Yes, I was driving with my sister and we stopped for a bit and took that photo.
Are you close with your sister? That's a little different from when people usually talk about their siblings.
My sister was the first person who listened to the track in this album after I recorded it. She didn't beat around the bush and say "Good job," but instead was really honest and said, "This is what I felt, what if you try this?" Talking with my sister made me think, "This is probably what the public will feel when they listen to this song."
Family can always give it to you straight.
Yes. There were a lot of times when I purposefully said, "You have to tell me this objectively." I have a lot of affection for my own songs, so there's obviously a lot of things I won't be able to see for myself.
For a while, it was brunch or painting pictures, but is your new hobby going on a drive?
I've been so caught up in working on the album lately that I don't really have time for hobbies. Once album promotions finish and things calm down, I might paint again. These days, I feel satisfied with small healing points of my day rather than doing hobbies. Depending on my mood on a certain day, I feel a lot better if I just eat something delicious. I try not to think of anything too heavy or serious in that moment and I feel happier.
There are only two months left in the year. What did this year mean to you?
This year has a lot of different meanings for me. It was the year my group activities ended, and the year I had a new start as a solo artist. I've received a lot of love and support from so many people, so without hoping for much more, it was a year when I can think, "I wish I could be with these people, just like now."
You've previously beautifully said that this album was "a flower that bloomed on the road Nu'est walked." When the promotions for this album end, what meaning do you hope it will have for you?
Hmm, the start of my journey. This is my new start, right? I can't know what will happen in the future, but happy memories might arise and more precious people might appear. There's obviously no way to have only good things happen. But even if had things happen, I think there will always be something to learn within that. So I wish this album could be the start of my journey and I want to feel a lot with this start.

get to know me (tyler if you didn't know)
thanks @nicohischier for the tag...i guess...
do you make your bed
Like. when i clean my room yeah but i do that maybe once every few weeks so i guess no i do not make my bed. reason? lazy and also why im going to get right back into it the moment im home favourite number?
7 just like every other person bc im boring apparently but also its bc when i was a kid i needed to make a password for a device and my mom told me to do 7 bc her bday is on the 7th so my password was 7777 for YEARS (it is not anymore) and it just stuck what’s your job?
graduating hs in approx...6 days apparently so ig student(which isnt a job but shhh) but only for 6 more days but THEN once august hits im going to be a student once again (college...yay) if you could go back to school, would you?
this really wasnt meant for graduating hs students was it. can you parallel park?
i cant drive :( do you think aliens are real?
yes. and unlike rayleene it IS because i believe that there's a whole civilized society hanging out a few billion light years away. mostly bc i just think that the universe is so big (to put it lightly) that i just refuse to believe that there aren't other sentient lifeforms out there. plus the world is so big and scary and if we are the only ones out in that world then it gives the existence of humans more meaning than i think we need/deserve and then i start freaking out
can you drive a manual car?
still cant drive :( guilty pleasure?
honestly probably fanfiction at this point. multiple times ive considered the idea of seriously stopping consuming it bc i just feel that it takes up so much of my time. time that i could be using to do other stuff that are actually useful to me like sometimes people ask me if i have hobbies and i find that the answer is no? because i spend so much time reading fanfiction so in a way ig it IS my hobby because reading is a hobby its just that people usually mean books but unfortunately telling people my hobby is reading fanfiction violates the social norms of our society so i end up feeling guilty about it tattoos?
dont have any (underage. not that its stopped multiple of my friends lmao) and honestly dont plan on getting any for multiple reasons 1. on a surface level its bc im very very scared of needles 2. on a deeper level its bc im pretty scared of commitment and making irreversible choices and i dont think i genuinely have anything meaningful in my life that i would want to get put on my skin if i want to showcase my interest and love for something id rather just get a poster for it idk favourite colour? purple!! not bc of bts (preview for my answer to the next question) but bc i just think its neat :] favourite type of music? im a kpop fan i will admit ;-; but also i do listen to a lot of pop, rap, and hiphop in general do you like puzzles?
lowkey no bc i get really frustrated if it takes me too long to do something any phobias?
needles and blood. like one time (a few months ago) my school held a blood drive and i decided to do it bc if i did id get a cord for my graduation and also my friend was doing it. when i went i was a little anxious but it wasnt horrible. however, by the time they started checking my iron i was a little more stressed and by the time they finished checking my iron (which involved pricking my finger and getting my blood which i watched and this was my mistake) and told me i was good to go to the donation area i was feeling very anxious and stressed and this is all a long winded backstory to me saying that i fainted the moment i stood up after getting my iron checked before i could even start donating blood
fun fact: still ended up getting the cord because apparently i "tried" favourite childhood sport? i guess at some point i loved tennis as a kid since i begged my mom to play it as a kid. this didnt turn out well as i ended up hating it after a few years but was forced to continue by my mom to the point that i would get like stress stomach aches bc of how much i didnt want to do it and when i was finally allowed to stop i ended up hating tennis so much that to this day i refuse to watch it do you talk to yourself?
only in my sleep apparently lol tea or coffee? iced coffee >>>>> first thing you wanted to be when growing up?
when i was in middle school they asked my health class this question and my response was "something that would let me stay at home and do what i want with my time." obviously my 11 year old classmates took this as a sign that i wanted to be a stay at home parent (do not want kids but thats another story) and started teasing me for it however, now as im older i still think baby tyler was so fucking valid and lowkey i think a lot of those once upon a time 11 year olds would also agree with me now what movies do you adore?
How to train your dragon and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are two that i think of right away

Has anyone ever told you that you were really pretty? Yes.
Do you relate to main characters in novels often? Not really, but this is also because I never read novels anymore. I'd prefer a story where I can hardly relate to characters, though. Anyone too similar to me I honestly might find distracting.
Do you listen to a wide variety of music? I try to but I usually end up falling back to K-pop or K-hiphop.
Does nature feel magical to you? Magical is not the right word for me – I see it as more realistic than anything. The way it doesn't choose its targets, how no one has any way of knowing just how strong an earthquake or tsunami or tornado can be...it doesn't remind me of anything else other than the concept of reality and that it's the single most powerful force we'll ever have to deal with.
What holiday are you looking forward to next? Counting my birthday, that. I otherwise don't really 'look forward' to holidays for the reason they're being celebrated.
Do you take a lot of pictures? Something I plan to do this year so that I can save more memories. I barely had photos in 2023.
Did you ever go through a phase when you didn’t want to take medicine? I mean yeah, as a child. I didn't like the taste of Tempra and always tried to get away from it whenever I got sick lol. Of course this kind of thing changes as you get older and realize medicines are made to help you, so as nasty as something tastes or how big a pill can possibly get I just suck it up and take them.
Do you love popsicles? They're very refreshing on a hot day but apart from that I wouldn't seek them out. I don't like ice cream in general.
Do you have to hem up a lot of your pants? Nah, too much work (even if I am short). I just roll them up.
Do you shop at Goodwill? We don't have that here.
What’s your natural hair color? Black.
Do you like your smile? I do! I usually like how it turns out in photos. There was a time where I felt awkward smiling with my teeth because my front ones used to be unaligned and it was super noticeable every time I pretty much opened my mouth, but now that I've got braces I feel a lot more confident.
Was the last book you read good? I'm currently reading Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 and it's so right up my alley. A rare exception for me as far as devoting time for novels. It's written biography-style and tackles mental health and the reality of women's situation in Korea – and all these things have made reading this book a breeze for me.
Do you make grocery lists? I'm not the one who usually does the groceries, but when I do I tend to wing it. I'll maybe place in bullets the absolute do-not-leave-the-store-without-these items, but I wouldn't make an entirely detailed list.
Do you take walks often? Yes, as often as I can. I've come to enjoy walking over the last six months and plan on keeping it up.
Does sunlight make you feel happier? No, unless I'm at the beach.
Do you make wishes on the moon? Not make wishes per se, but looking at the moon kind of rouses the wanderlust in me in many ways. Like it gets me thinking how amazing it is that humans have landed on it, how many people are also possibly looking at it the same time I am...
What are you most looking forward to this spring? We don't have spring.
Are you fulfilling your passion in life? Maybe not right now. Currently I'm in a phase where I'm just...going through the motions, waiting for the perfect timing to be someplace else and new. I'd love to be able to get back on track soon.
Do you daydream a lot? Kind of, yeah.
What are your dreams? Mostly about things I already think about a lot when conscious.
Do you take medications? Nope.
When was the last time you went to the doctor? Apart from the dentist to get my braces readjusted, the last time I was in for an emergency was March last year when I had to rush to the hospital to get anti-rabies and tetanus shots.
What helps you fall asleep? YouTube background noise.
Do you love sushi? I love sushi. I've had it like 4 times in the last week alone lol.
What’s your favorite type of seafood? Oyster, mussels, and any kind of sashimi.
Do you have stomach problems? Just mild lactose intolerance.
Do you enjoy editing photos? Nope.
What was the last photo filter you used? My sister was playing around with the emoji filters on TikTok that can copy your expressions as you do them, and I joined in on the fun.
Do you live a simple life? I wouldn't say so. I'm pretty materialistic.
Do you own a pair of pajamas with foxes on them? Nope.
Peace signs or hearts? Like, for a photo? I tend to lean towards peace signs.
What kind of pie is your favorite? Just any pie with no fruits in them is fine haha.
Do you think you could go a whole year without eating dessert? Yes.

understanding him
one of the ways ive tried to understand him is by listening to the music he listens. (we have a spotify blend together)
his music taste is not weird at all but theyre rather quite sad or maybe abit depressive(???). dreamy, sleepy, high, broken type of songs for me.
not that i think theyre bad, its quite the opposite. theyre actually beautiful. its just not my type of songs. i know we are not talking about me or my music taste but i just want to compare or try to relate.
he listens to frank ocean, i dont. i love the weekend and khalid tho. my music is kind of up-beats and theyre basically for me to crazy dance in my room.
but his songs, its like when youre alone by the seasides and the weather is not that hot but not that cold, you would listen to this type of songs. also they give me lofi vibe hahahah
i could definitely understand his vibe and personality abit not gonna lie his music taste is better and more consistent compared to mine.
i believe that musics are a medium for most people to express themselves. hence, im listening to his favourites.
interesting... he listens to hiphop as well. huh. its a weird combo actually. hiphop and rnb. yes. rnd. he listens alot to rnb while mine is old pop songs.
we like two super different genres ngl. i feel empty whenever the beats go too slow or too calming. my mind cant sit still and ill just get distracted by something else whenver i listen to slow music. ok ive to go my magnesium is kicking in.
ill continue tomorrow

Enjoyable Songs new to S.B. Kates - December 2022
This month's playlist starts out very relaxed, before it gets sad and emotional, eventually turning into an intense, sweaty rave. This month the genres are mostly indie pop, synth pop, and electronic music.
These are all songs which are new to me this month, which I enjoyed. They're not all actually new releases - some older tracks end up in here if I haven't heard them before this month.
Fireside - John Mark Nelson, Tancred, & Jenny Owen Youngs - I can't ignore the season. Merry worst-season-of-the-year to you. At least firelight is pretty, like this sparkling song.
There'd Better Be a Mirrorball - Arctic Monkeys - I mostly like the title and the chorus. Can we at least have a Disco if we're both getting miserable? Fits the real vibes of winter for me.
Casual - Chappel Roan - This month's lyrical theme is apparently relationship problems. This story about a greedy partner who wants things 'casual' but who is clearly using the girlfriend for one-sided emotional support sounds like a story I've seen in real life before.
Unconditional - Magdalena Bay - Listening to the album this track is on is like splashing into a pool lit by pastel lights during a weed-scented party. Vaporwave must never die.
God Turn Me Into a Flower - Weyes Blood - I just found this artist this week, and dove into her whole catalog. I feel foolish for missing out on her. Reminds me of what I love about Joni Mitchell, but more relaxed.
666 - Jeremy Messersmith - the party is starting to get more lively, now that the perpetually late Satanists show up. They brought hummus! And instrumentals that remind me of The Squirrel Nut Zippers' anachronistic smorgasbord.
Joy - Mikey Mike - I connected to this one based on its lyrics about the choice of going into parenthood, a topic that's been on my mind lately.
Smoking Weed Alone - Tegan and Sara - Repetitive, exhausted verses about the fatigue and emotional exhaustion of a thoughtful, melancholy breakup. Check this whole album out.
Bejeweled - Taylor Swift - I tried to get into Taylor Swift last year, but I ran into a shallow distaste of the country music genre. It's a musical milieu I just have little connection to. This album seems to be more in the style of synth-pop, which I relate to much more. The mobile game sound effects of this track charmed me.
Raspberry Blush - Chromeo - A new entry from my favorite living synthpop duo. Still funky and sweet after all these years.
Baby Powder - Bandingo Ygne - if you've ever wondered whether or not "Hello! Ma Baby", a tinpan alley song written in 1899, could be sampled as the base of a modern hiphop track, here is your answer.
Slaughter House - Phonkha & zecki - get out the glowsticks, and put on your stompy industrial-goth boots, it's time to experience a crunchy, hard-hitting EBM track that's been making the rounds in various remixes on TikTok.
Tibet - Artbat, Argy & Zafrir - The Monk Chant Dance Track Trend Continues in this trance song. Feel the fake spirituality wash over your internet-cursed brain.
Dance With Me - Sunny Lax - an uplifting vocal trance track that reminds me of the summers and dance floors of simpler times.
Off the Ground - Sub Focus - This track is an example of exactly what I love about great trance songs. It makes me feel like I'm floating upwards under my own power. I can NOT sit still when I hear the break.
GMT (Jamie xx Remix) - Oliver Sim & Jamie xx - a house song, which slowly builds around a lonesome vocal. Long distance relationships are so hard. Did you think we were done with sad relationship songs back in the indie pop section?

Your musical theme
For this assignment, I chose the theme of uplifting/motivation . I chose this theme because many people have times where a song could lift them up even when they feel down. I like to think we all have at least one song we listen to that can make our days feel brighter. So the songs I chose were either some of my personal favorites or just songs that have a message in its lyrics that can resonate with what you feel at times. Some of these songs were also chosen based on the tone, sound, etc. The first musical genre is
Classical/tradition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnK3kh8ZEgA
Mozart-Symphony NO.41 in C Major . 551 “Jupiter”
I chose Mozart not only because he is a musical legend, but also because his symphonies are incredible. Mozart's tempo in this piece is both fast and slow as he transitions from one sound to another. When I first heard it, I felt upbeat because the symphony was well-crafted and well-harmonized with every instrument. I felt lighter and happier after listening to Symphony No.41 in C Major. 551 "Jupiter," and I was able to groove to the piece.
Rock:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx2u5uUu3DE
Bon Jovi-Its my life
This song does not require much introduction because it is one that many people have heard at some point in their lives. The reason for selecting this song is because of its rhythm and message. It's basically saying that you own your life and that no one can tell you what you can or cannot do with it. This is my interpretation of Jovi’s song because in multiple instances he says”
“I ain't gonna live forever”
“I just want to live while I'm alive”
So I think we should all take in the message of the song and live life how you want and live it too the fullest because in the end as Bon Jovi said:
“Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake”
“Luck ain't even lucky, got to make your own breaks”
Jazz:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qiz-i8flMEw
Dr. SaxLove-Spooky
Jazz was difficult to associate with this theme because jazz is known to be more slow and sorrowful. So, unlike the previous genres, I had to concentrate on being a hearer rather than a listener. It was difficult to find a suitable jazz piece that I liked in terms of what it could present in the song. Nonetheless I really enjoyed listening to this song and it made me feel relaxed and calm.
Hiphop/rap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqLdhcPu5vk
Big sean-One man can change the world
This song can be applied to anyone who wants to take on the world. Since its release this has always been one of my top favorite songs by big sean. So not only is it catchy but it also is a interesting song that I think everyone should give a listen to because there are a ton of melodic lines that gives you what this theme is about.
Country: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzruh76X5a0
Tim Mcgraw-Live like your dying
I felt like this was a little difficult for me because I don't really listen to country music, so I spent at least half an hour trying to find a song, but Tim McGraw's Live Like You're Dying was the best fit out of the country songs that I could find. For this, I became a listener because there is a heartfelt connection in the lyrics about what it's like to have regret and what if you could go back in time and live the life you wanted. So when reading the lyrics and listening to the tone that Tim Mcgraw portrays in the song it gave me motivation to live the life I want.
Folk:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuOUOd5Q3Mo
Caden’s Hill’s- Livin it up
So I chose Indie Folk for this genre because most of the time, if you listen to songs in this subgenre, they are positive. So, after searching through countless playlists on YouTube, I settled on this small band called Caden's Hills. Their song "livin it up" is somewhat motivating because it corresponds to the theme that I chose. When you listen to this song, you will notice that it changes tempo at times and has a very nice consonance throughout.
Blues:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_2FrmeV_Yg
Blues Delight-If I had money
So, similar to jazz, I had difficulty finding uplifting music in this genre, but after much searching, I settled on Blues Delight-If I Had Money. Unlike the jazz genre, I found music with an artist singing, so I was able to identify this song based on the lyrics. Blues Delight breaks down the song in multiple ways. So, like Blues delight, we have all considered what it would be like to have enough money and what we would do with it, and by listening to the lyrics of this song, we can gain an understanding of what the artist is attempting to convey.
Electronic:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtF6Jej8yb4
Avicii- The Nights
For this category, I went with EDM and chose Avichii because his song "The Nights" is one of my favorites. What I like about this song is that it is a masterpiece in and of itself. Overall, the song has a great tempo change, contrast, and dynamic from beginning to end.

Kick iiii by Arca (my live listen/react)
I already know going into the album it is way way way more ambient and instrumental hefty. I am completely okay with that as I listen to a lot of classical and deep techno that sounds like you're sitting in the den at a rave.
So here we go.
👯‍♀️💃🕺👯‍♂️
Whoresong: I love all of the vocal filters she has at her disposal, but when I logged onto the first stream with her sis was talking through the filter for a solid 15 and I though I was going insane. But that being said I love it more in her music than when she's talking about her cat. I love that simple piano progression/sample in the background. I could see it being used in like a hiphop song. Ooo the zapper effect on the audio and voice at the end is great. The lyrics kinda empowering kinda sad.
Esuna: take me on a fairy train ride.
Xenomorphgirl: Queen mother, the alien one, would probably love this. Very ethereal and light, her pitched vocals with the slight glitch how how good.
Queer: A great Segway from xenomorphgirl and a fitting single for this project. Which so far there's only been one single for this project and thats probably deliberate. Closing my eyes and vibing to this one, "Tears of shower in the night time, like magic."
Witch: I love this No Bra's voice and the way it works so well with the piano even before it starts to go through post vocal filters.
Hija: 😍😍😍 slow and not dark but also not light in terms of emotion. Or maybe its just a mix of both of those emotions. I want to sit at a bench in front of a very green turf where you can see mountains or a highway in the distance and listen to this song and contemplate. Maybe just maybe I want to film something that looks like that with this song playing in the background. The one note being sung in the background adding another layer is brava. I can't understand the words being said so ill have to look up the lyrics later but the way they sound is so good for the music it adds a tinge of haunt (Spanish and distortion takes my basic Spanish skills and tosses them.) It's too fucking short or more so it goes by too quickly, I want more.
Boquifloja: 90s-00s grunge mixed with some Mazzy Star vocal runs. Arca said don't yall limit me I can produce whatever genre I want to....omg can her and Kid Cudi make a track together. Her run libs and his hums making up a beat together, please. 🙏🧎‍♂️ ugh her laugh after stopping playing the piano, yea girl.
Alien inside: my ears are ascending to a God tier level. WAIT GARBAGE SHIRLEY MANSON, yessss this makes sense bring in the rock influences.
Altar: Anyone who doesn't like this album would hate James Blake and to that I say, their loss. This song gives me heavy "I never learnt to share" vibes. James and Arca would be another bomb ass collab because they both make music from different spaces literally and still sound so full. Arca really is flexing her production versatility with all of these kicks and its highly appreciated. Too often an artist is placed in a box unallowing them to grow and it can be from a label and from fans. These projects in this anthology show she can do so much more than electronic alt pop or electronic hiphop. She refuses to downplay that range, her queerness, her transness, her "vulgarity", for anyone not even her fans even though she's curious what we think.
Lost Woman Found: This makes me feels things like "is it cold in the water" makes me feels things. Its distorted like you're listening to it and passing through a mountain tunnel so it drops in one ear at moments and comes back slightly distorted. There's audio thats in one ear and not the other and some thats in both but it isn't overwhelming. These effects layered with a robust droning sound that travels in both ears and around just makes it so so full. But, it doesn't loose the ethereal sound that has been throughout the project so far. There's also a heartbeat snuck into the beat as well. So much emotion in the words "I'm looking for a miracle to cast down my fears." The lyrics are so good even though there aren't many they last the entire song. Its seeing yourself for who you really are like a euphoric way and telling others they can too achieve this feeling of self ascending/discovery.
Paw: I've heard this is really good but I'm trying to go into it without expectations. The lyrics are good but halfway through that rolling effect with a delay on the production is 😭👏🏾. Someone put me on a raft in the middle of a big ass pool and let me just listen to this song. 2nd half of the song just vibrates and stays in your ears.
Wow.
My favorites from this project are : lost woman found, hija, boquifloja, and alien inside.
Um my ranking of kicks so far (still have to listen to 5):
Kick iii, kick iiii, kick ii, kick i
And this in no ways means they aren't all great, I saw someone say each album just appeals to a different style that each of listeners in general, her fans, and herself really loves to hear. And that was really smart, also dropping all 4 to finish up the series/anthology is so smart. Its a lot like her releasing @@@@@ all together like one long dj set instead of singles or sections, but in a different format. This KicK project also feels a lot more put together in terms of a concept like @@@@@ is great for long time fans its not something to just jump into, but these projects new fans and random people can kind of find a volume and flip through it to find something they absolutely love or hate. There's also love letters to her communities in the music she makes. Whether that is making a classic reggaeton song in her own style or a song she's very explicitly said in a Twitter or IG post, is for trans feminine people or queer people.

Hope you're having a good week😊 how do you think of ideas for stories? Do you purposefully sit down and think 'what could I write about this universe?' or something?
Thank you!! I know this is super duper late, but I hope you are doing well too <3
It's different every time. To start, I'll say that my biggest stories (HR and another personal project) are usually about characters who use their amazing gifts and abilities in the clumsiest way possible. I just like to write about characters who basically have all the power in the world and still struggle to get the job done on their own.
For me, the only thing that is constant when it comes to making up stories is the voices of characters in my head having conversations. I think to myself that if they keep talking, I should just go ahead and give them something to talk about. And a room to do it in. And clothes. And the whole nine.
It's usually a conversation that pops in my head and makes me think "Ooooh, now that's interesting. Now why would they say that?? And who is saying that??" And then I start writing it. Other times, a character's face will pop in my head and I think to myself that I should give this person things to say and a reason to say it.
With HR, conversations and specific scenes came first. The plot came after. That's part of the reason why some of the details are messy (I gave Yurio and Victor three parents and none of them are Yurio's canon grandfather). I just really want to see these scenes on paper. One of the scenes that I thought of before the actual story was when Victor was taken to the hospital and Yuuri made sure to examine/take care of Victor at Victor's pace rather than his own. The entirety of the chapter "Helicopter Goose Chase" came before the actual plot too. There are whole chapters that have yet to be posted that came before the plot and I'm ITCHING to post.
"Professional Hours" came from a prompt, yes, but before that, there were office scenes and conversations that played out in my head and I couldn't get them to stop until I just wrote a little blurb about em.
My most recent fic (not posted yet) is unique in that I wrote it because 1. I wanted a soulmate AU and 2. I needed it. :') I think I needed to cheer myself up and the happier I got, the harder the fic became to write which is the reason it's not posted yet lol. That's not to say I have to be in a mentally bad space to be creative. I'm at my creative best when I'm happy, healthy, and pumped full of coffee. It just means that this particular fic served its purpose and now i need to find a new motivation to continue it. It's a hurt/comfort fic, heavy on the comfort. I can't wait til it's done~~~ but the point is, this fic is the first time that I came up with a story out of emotion.
I did a lot of writing in college and my best short story from that time was inspired by a song. I initially thought that music with lyrics was a distraction for me when I'm writing (i immediately start singing along, it's hopeless) so i always (even now) listened to either lofi hiphop or classical for a sort of wall of white noise to keep me focused. But at the time, I was watching this show and this girl, Evvie McKinney did a cover of "Ain't No Sunshine" that somehow inspired me to create the plot and characters of a story that I never would've written if I was left to my own devices. The heat and intensity in her vocals were amazing. It was like she sucked all the warmth out of the earth and returned it ten billion-fold in flames and carefully controlled wrath. It was such a good image so i rolled with it.
TLDR: More often than not, a conversation, a face, or a scene will pop into my head and nag me until I give it a story. Other times, a song will paint a picture for me that I describe in words. But for the first time ever, my own emotional needs inspired me to write a story (that I have yet to post :D)

the jae stuff is sooo :/// like i do think in some cases even in the past ppl r taking things out of context/stringing unrelated events together but after a while 🧍🏾like its become a pattern…! & the problems in kpop he is bringing up r problems in the entertainment industry as a whole & him talking abt it like it isnt & the language he is using is uhhh iffy & dismissive to what other ppl go thru also very annoyed ppl defending him r bringing young k into it like bro he is in the military leave him aloneeeeeeee y is he in this stop comparing them (also sorry for rambling abt this in ur inbox :( & making it very all over the place)
it's ok to ramble i lov u! honestly i've been feeling sorry for jae a lot especially since he got a twitter account because although i don't really keep up with celebrity news (even if it's Day6) i've seen many situations where people on twitter were really rude and unjust against him or pushed him into a corner (him making a casual sexual joke with his friend and people jumping on his throat, for example) but like. this is becoming a pattern. he has always been like "i am not like other kpop idols, i grew up in usa & i listen to lo-fi hiphop ❤" & i was like ok man do your thing, whatever but this is too much.
calling your own group unauthentic is something so ridiculous whereas he's been always emphasizing how hardworking they are and that they only care about making music (which is true and one of many reasons why Day6 is my favorite band). like it is disrespectful against the hard work his bandmates have put through years, all of them. he doesn't suddenly become someone original and self-made just because he made some ~ chill sad studying raining cafe lo-fi hiphop music ~ with 88rising or whatever. he is literally disregarding Day6 members as artists.
ALSO wasn't Jae the one who complained about JYP disregarding the music he wants to make (like JYP did to Jaebum and Jay Park but that's another topic) so he can't be free in his artistic choices or whatever??? JYP was sooooo bad back then, why is he complimenting him now?? none of it adds up
