what i think each breakfast club member smells like (this is kind of niche but trust..)

john: you know that guy reeks of cigarette smoke. he also smells like weed, gasoline, and he's probably a little musky. maybe a slight dirt/earth smell

claire: she probably has like 100 perfumes....definitely a vanilla and floral girl. she always smells good no matter what, even if she isnt wearing any perfume. she probably has a slight cherry smell too

brian: he smells....old. he smells like old sweaters, old books, like...a vintage library. i feel like he also has a very faint pine smell...i dont know why

andrew: since he is an athlete he is going to smell a little musky...but i feel like he douses himself in cheap cologne or men's deodorant. he's like the human embodiment of those deodarants that are like "TIGER STRIPE FIRE MOUNTAIN BREEZE 🔥🔥🔥"

allison: i feel like she also smells like smoke, maybe a little alcohol. she kind of smells like an antique store, it isnt something you can quite put your finger on. it's allison anyway, girl is an enigma

If I could go to college without debt I would make it my job to get a degree in every little thing that interested me. I'd get a doctorate in film studies. I'd have a bachelor's degree for every science I like. I'd try to learn at least 5 languages with varying results. I would learn something "useful" like coding and then follow it up with a ""useless"" degree like art history. I'd be the world record speed run holder for getting every degree possible.

But I can't afford college without going into massive debt, so instead I spent the last 5 years trying to figure out what I am passionate enough about to consider going into debt over, because unfortunately being passionate about everything is extremely expensive to pursue.

Grim went off her food today. vomited up breakfast, and then refused to touch anything further. I thought the vomit was Pangur’s at first, so I spent the whole day babying her and hand feeding, until dinner when it became clear Grim was the one with nausea.

I’ve been doing my best to keep Grim from the kitten food, because the high fat content can give adult cats pancreatitis, but there’s been a couple times where I’ve put the food somewhere I thought was inaccessible only to find Grim up there accessing it. I didn’t think she’d stolen more than a couple mouthfuls, but her symptoms today seem very pancreatitis-y.

I’m so angry at myself for not having done a better job keeping the kitten food out of reach. I took her to an emergency vet (my regular one was closed) and they’ve decided to keep her overnight. the bloodwork tomorrow should show whether it’s pancreatitis.

I don't know how many times we have to say this but this is because the United States of America does not have public transit in any form that a European would recognize as such outside of a few very small, highly-dense municipal locations like NYC and Chicago, and having used both those systems and the U-Bahn i can firmly assert that the U-Bahn blows American subways into smithereens. we especially do not have accessible interstate passenger train service outside of that one commuter Amtrak loop in the northeast. the country is designed to force its citizens to use cars and only cars, and the government has made it policy to incentivize car ownership since the 1940s and punish any other form of transit, including just walking around. do you understand? the vast majority of roads here do not have bike lanes. when we do have bike lanes they are not protected by a curb or divider, they are just white lines painted on the asphalt. you will regularly encounter roads and streets--inside of cities and suburbs, not just in rural areas--that do not have sidewalks

My partner and I have food allergies and digestive/immune issues, and due to my partner only finding this out recently we havent been able to buy all the food we both need to eat! My partner is basically loosing a lot of weight and starving at work because we dont have any food shes not allergic to for her to eat. When browsing through the wares of a newly opened magic shop you passed by an item that caught your interest, a massive mirror

You peaked inside expecting to see yourself, but instead you saw, a girl? About your height, quite pretty, good taste in fashion… Maybe your mom when she was younger?

It feels weird, in a good way, to see this girl follow all your movements, you couldn’t help but smile, and her smile is radiant

You felt an odd sense of relief… until you looked down to see that, you’re you, of course you are

“Quite the item isn’t it?”, the Witch tending the shop noticed your interest and started talking to you “a magic mirror that shows you what you’d look like if you were born the opposite sex”

You stare into it

Why do you feel this deep dread?

“But that’s not all it does!” The witch continues “want to see a magic trick?” The witch asks laying a hand on your back

You’re curious to see where this is going, so you nod your head

In one swoop the witch pushes you against the mirror and as you brace yourself to slam into it, stumbling on your feet across the floor, you find yourself slamming into the witch face first

She laughs “I probably didn’t need to push that hard”

As you lay on the ground you feel different, you look as you prepare to push yourself up from the ground you notice your hands… are they smaller?

As you get it up and oriented yourself you glance at the mirror, still the same showing girl you, but how did you get turned around did… did you get

“Sorry” the witch says as her laughter days down “that’s the first time I’ve pushed someone through a mirror, should’ve seen that coming”

You look down and see the dress you’re wearing

“Now cutie” the witch claps her hands, and jumps up! She has a grin you don’t trust “I hoped you enjoyed the trick! If you ever want to become a guy again And I hope you have some savings! Gender-bending magic is quite expensive!”

You stumble back, you can’t turn back? The mirror is showing yo- Girl You, not the real Guy You, so… that’s a no go? You’re way to poor for anything

“But don’t worry cutie, we pay quite well here and just so happen have an opening for a maid and I can assure you, you’ll look just adorable in the uniform”

I think I've realized why Jackie from Jackie Chan Adventures was such an endearing protagonist. Stuff like his bond with Jade & ability to fight helped sure, but what really made his personality work is this:

Jackie is a man who treats being a good parent to the child dumped into his care, being a responsible archeologist and fist fighting demons gods to all be equally daunting tasks.

Thus he is able to straddle this strange line between being easily the most competent person in a room at ay given time & the most stressed out, put upon every-guy you've ever seen.

This is all tied up in a bow, when his perspective on these things flips. IE, sometimes when the stars align he will treat the enormous danger he's in with the same gravity as tutoring his niece.

Which allows him to straddle the exact opposite line of most unflappable guy ever and incredibly dorky but good hearted nerd who greets old college friends with a cheerful hug.

Right after said friend gassed and kidnapped him.

But yeah, it was just a really fun way to write him.
