Long Overdue Life Update

Whew, the title sounds kinda ominous, doesn't it?

Lemme say right off the bat that this isn't some Big PSA post or anything to that effect. I'm only checking in because I've been quiet for a while and figured an update is the least I can do. 🙂

Nothing major or life-changing is happening on my end; I've just been shitty at finding the time for sim-blogging these past months due to work and other day-to-day rl stuff, though I have been simming a bit in the background. Mostly going on download sprees and sorting cc, but I'm also about two-thirds through my next BaCC rotation and have a few new hair and handswap wips that are share-ready save for previews.

Oh and also: I got a new puppy! She's a 3-and-a-half-months-old Jack Russel mix and the main culprit for the abovementioned lack-of-time for simming. The cute lil' attention hog wants ALL the cuddles! "PC time? What PC time? Pet me instead, hooman!"

Other things of note in my life, in no particular order:

We've had relatives from Croatia visiting last week with their kids. The kids are super smart and super cute but with the energy levels of a medium-sized nuclear reactor. It's been fun.

I finally went to see a Rammstein concert!!! 🤯 The experience of a lifetime, holy shit. I literally have no words to describe how mesmerizing that stage was. Like, I shit you not, I have 3 GBs worth of concert footage.

Speaking of metal: Gojira KILLED IT at the Olympics Opening! Also: Turkish Shooter Guy and Norwegian Muffin Man are living rent-free in my head. I'm the worst, I only follow professional sports for the memes.😆

I've been moved to a new division at work and am currently sitting in a small office with the two biggest goobers in the entire institution. Between that and me finally having accumulated enough knowledge + experience to have a clue what I'm doing, work's been pretty stress-free for once.

Conversely, my colleagues from the old division are struggling due to lack of staff, too much work, mismanagement, internal strife, and pressure from both within and outside the institution. I feel so bad for them, but at the same time, a selfish part of me is grateful that I'm not there to suffer the shitshow on my own hide.

I have unanswered asks from (probably) months ago and am Very Ashamed of the fact. I'll get back to you guys, I promise! 😰

- also kinda a continuation, us seeing the process of him entering blue lock (the letter, the send off) and watching the u-20 match + their little two week freedom from prison LOL

I’m also a huge advocate of the menace Karasu agenda which is why I love the academic rivals trope because I feel like it fits his menace vibes well but imagine….student council pres and vice pres….I’ll leave you with these thoughts…

Six Sentence Sunday

Thank you for the tag dear @artsyunderstudy your work is lovely as always 🥰

So I've been in that weird limbo where you think a lot about writing, but without doing any actual writing. Oh well.

I've been thinking a lot about Every little helps in particular (and sweating about the fact that I haven't updated it in almost two months 😰) and I have good and bad news about it:

The good: I finally figured out what was troubling me about it

The bad: I scrapped almost everything I had written already. (It's fine, as it was mostly filler that didn't go anywhere. It still hurt tho)

Anyway, here's to hoping a fresh start will rekindle my inspiration...

As for A Charity Case: more bad news on this front. Namely, the massive plot hole I found in the planning of Simon and Baz's date - at this point I'll either have to ditch one of their stops, or I'll have to go back and change a few details on the first chapter, just to make everything fit into one damn night.

Here's an excerpt from when both Simon and I thought this date was going oh soooo smoothly:

So, yeah, I don't mind a bit of reckless spending if it means treating myself to a nice dinner out with the boy I'm trying to woo. And this is the Mage's money, anyway. I'd rather blow through this cursed inheritance as quickly as possible. (I've got enough of it saved to pay rent for several months, and a job lined up to start after the New Year. I'll be fine.)

So I drink the wine. I talk to Baz. And I watch him. 

Merlin, he looks gorgeous, all lit up by the warm streetlight coming in through the window. He's looking out, twirling his glass, and I want to devour him.

And last but not least: I've started on my Secret Snowflake fic! This is very draft-y and so might change later, but for now have a snippet that hopefully doesn't give the prompt away:

Somehow, I'd convinced myself we were past that. It's been months since either of us broke down during sex, and even when it happened, we learned quickly how to soothe each other. How to communicate our needs and get to the bottom of the problem. How to overcome whatever it was together. 

Now, though, as Simon retreats into a cup of tea, holding himself tightly across from me on the kitchen table, I feel a pinprick of dread. 

We've been getting bolder in the bedroom, trying out new things every week. As I wait for Simon to gather his words, I go through my mental list of kinks, wondering what could be setting him off this time.  

I feel Simon's foot resting over mine; I'm wearing socks, he isn't. It's the first time he's reached out to me since I got home. 

“Don't worry yourself to a strop," Simon says, lowering his mug. He hasn't actually drank the tea. “I'm fine. Just embarrassed, really." 

I hum. "I know. I can almost taste the blood on your cheeks."

things have been comme ci, comme ca the last couple of weeks 😰😰😰

been in and out of hospital and off work because my grandma reacted pretty badly to her covid boosters (shes better now thank goodness) but i think the general environment of the hospital made me ill BUT IVE RECOVERED 🙏🏼

and this guy i used to like (ew can you believe i liked someone other than the members 🙄) hes a real asshole, i cannot believe men have the AUDACITY, LIKE MY GOD THIS IS WHY I HATE MEN ARGWJDHWB but yeah hes a bitch, guess you could say “The One I Want” took a little inspiration from that 💀😭 (excluding the smut 😭)

NAW BUT FR !! im fine like things are back to the way they used to be im not too hung up on the guy, and besides, its nothing i cant handle 😏

AND THE PFP… no reason 😏😏😏 that jimin lives in my mind RENT FREE like you cannot tell me jimin didn’t look like he was undressing you with his eyes during that live LIKE COME ON 😏

reasons for bad mood:

Money is tight; like, the most it's ever been since I moved out, through a combination of factors both in and outside of my control. (ex. I have to pay for health insurance since my birthday last year, which is a few hundred dollars each month, and I had to get some repairs on my car done recently. But also I spend way more on clothing, art and craft supplies, collectibles, home goods, etc. than is responsible, and I tend to spend more the more stressed I am.) And rent happens tomorrow, which will put me in an uncomfortable financial position...This isn't a HUGE problem, I have lots of support, most directly in the form of just asking my dad for money. But I don't want to 😓, like, he'll help me and I doubt he'll be mad, but possibly displeased, and he might ask questions that I'd prefer not to answer. (for reasons of I'm embarrassed, nothing serious) And just the whole situation has made me feel very anxious and embarrassed and bad about myself. I'm likely going to try and text my therapist about this before I go to sleep, and hope she has some guidance to offer, to help me actually go through with the asking.

P sure I mentioned I upped my ADHD med dosage on Monday, and I think it's been interfering with my sleep, and that has been negatively impacting my mood!! Very grumpy and anxious, and also I feel it's actually making me more scatterbrained? Which, like, hopefully most of this is just a matter of me adjusting in the next couple weeks, and I just have to try and cope until then.

Have not been eating very much. Meds suppress my appetite, but the worrying about money, having poor time management, and zero energy also don't help.

Obviously I am also very anxious about changing jobs!! I hate change and I know I'm going to miss these kids, and I've been stressing myself out trying to find a moment to talk to all the parents I want to talk to, to tell them what's going on and give them my contact info.

Major family social event this weekend, where I will meet some relatives for the first time, and have a chance to talk to people I rarely do. Which I am theoretically genuinely looking forward to, but knowing my current mood, I am worried I will not be able to make the most of the opportunity. Yes, I know this probably a dumb thing to worry about!

Anyway, uhhhh. This might be too much personal info to share online? But I needed to get it out lol, and there's no power running to the mental filter rn. (Unless we want to engage the whole social anxiety mechanism.) Thanks for being here! I hope y'all are all doing okay. 💕

Finally in a house back with the family, not the greatest situation but so much better compared to last year! Gonna try student housing because trying to go halfway on an apartment was still way to expensive. Especially over the summer 😰. I have a job now at Walgreens.

Things are better for now. I was homeless this month for a couple weeks, tho. 😅

My apartment flooding + the go fund me last year was a mess, but it worked out and I was able to pay rent. Comms help with a couple bills here and there, but it's nothing I can look at seriously for now. Still on SNAP, but gotta talk to me school about financial aid signing off on my SNAP.

I stoped writing ✍️ but I’m back at it again. Everything is going crazy bills are piling up and getting overwhelmed of how I could pay the bills and rent. 😰😓 going to school 🏫 and work. I’m working 40hrs a week and the checks doesn’t ends meet. Sometimes I think of quitting school 🏫 but I’m so close to graduation 👩🏼‍🎓. Telling myself you could do it. On days off do DoorDash for extra money but sometimes when you have a lot of homework you can’t even do what you plan for the days off. Sometimes I think about getting a second job but where or when do I sleep. This is really OVERWHELMING to point we’re I want to scream and cry. 😤😢😓

so my renovations won’t take more than a week so instead of renting a complex that may involve lame ass kimchi girl we’re just gonna rent a suite Nd maybe do some secret hotel invegations in Chicago (Rosemont area) ?! Sure we would have to quarantine but I ain’t gonna leave that hotel anyways, then I would really die 😰
