In today's episode of Shut Up Robin, Nobody Cares:

InuKag bickering is so good because it's deeply telling of how comfortable InuYasha and Kagome are with each other at almost every stage of their relationship.

For starters, contrary to seemingly popular belief, arguing does not inherently signal dysfunction. It can sometimes signal the opposite: it demonstrates a level of intimacy and trust in your relationship that you are able to openly disagree with your loved one. You are not afraid of conflict because you know it won't break the relationship. In my experience, at least, it's shaky relationships that avoid conflict at all costs. When there's not enough emotional security with each other to openly disagree without fear/anxiety, open conflict never happens. That's why "arguing like an old married couple" is a cliché: it's the people who've built trust and security who will bicker like that.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it doesn't feel great to be in conflict with a loved one, even in a secure relationship. But being able to navigate conflict together in a way that eventually leads toward understanding and compromise is the sign of a strong relationship. Arguing is often a step in that process.

Which is why I find InuKag arguments absolutely, lip-smackingly delicious.

When they first meet, their arguments have the distinct flavor of, "I don't like you and I don't care what you think about me." Which is an excellent vintage tbh, full-bodied flavor with refreshing tartness. 👌👌 There's something so intrinsically entertaining about watching early-series InuKag butt heads, all the while knowing they eventually get married. And because early-series InuKag doesn't especially care about the other person's opinion of them, they don't hold back: there's no politeness barrier between them, there's no equivocating or filtering. They just have at it. They're not afraid to be themselves around each other, even when they dislike each other.

Then when their friendship begins to form—stage two InuKag 😁—their bond is forged from the two-pronged fire of 1) having each other's backs in life-or-death situations, and 2) experiencing the humdrum quotidian moments that come with traveling together all day, every day for long stretches of time. I've talked about this before, but I love how they know all the dumb little things about each other that you only learn from prolonged proximity: they know the timbre of each other's snores at night; they know how long the other can go without food before hangry-ness rears its head; they know which posture signals irritation or exhaustion, which facial expression signals daydreaming contemplation or a playful mood; they know which jokes will get a laugh and which insults will get the sharpest glances; the little intimacies abound!

By the friendship stage, InuKag bickering takes on a slightly different flavor. There's still that unfiltered, no-holds-barred vibe about them (because they're so used to being blunt with each other), but it also has the tenor of easy familiarity. Friends falling into the same low stakes argument they've had a hundred times already. There's not often any real heat or tension to the bickering, it's more like rote muscle memory. And when they do have real arguments, with real tension and emotional stakes?? It's delicious precisely because there are emotional stakes now! Goodbye, "I don't care what you think about me," hello, "I care so much what you think and I hate it and you're going to hear about it." It's still arguing InuKag, but with different emotional fuel sparking the arguments. Now there's affection and trust underpinning their unfiltered way with each other. It's mmm mmm good! I can eat it up all day.

And as the series progresses, and InuKag begin to develop obvious romantic interest in each other—stage three InuKag, yes it's terminal—the flavor of the arguments gets deeper because now those emotional stakes? They're even higher. And yet despite the higher stakes and the messy complications, they're still not afraid to butt heads. They're not afraid to be blunt and hash things out. I love this example of InuYasha's hack-and-slash style of conflict resolution. If there's a wall between him and resolving the tension, he'll just punch his way through it. 😂 Another favorite of mine is this banger scene where Kagome bluntly calls InuYasha out on his jealousy.

But probably my favorite stage three InuKag fight scene is this one, from chapter 310:

Man, it's so good! Kagome—after taking pains to save Kikyo, who then essentially taunts her for it—starts to feel angry and resentful and then wallops InuYasha with those feelings. (Before any haters pipe in: characters need to make mistakes sometimes. This is one such occasion. Let the 15-year-old girl character make a mistake ffs.) And what does InuYasha do? He sticks around so they can hash it out. The best panels in this chapter are Kagome thinking, "He probably hates me now," only for her to look up and see him right beside her. He can handle her mistakes and flaws, because he knows Kagome. They've spent 300 chapters building trust in each other, and we see the fruit of that here. InuYasha knows very well that Kagome cares for him—cares so much that she's risked her life for him many times over by now, and cares so much that she just saved her own romantic rival partly for InuYasha's sake (but largely because she's just a good person). I think that's why he handles this moment with pretty good composure. He knows Kagome doesn't actually hate him, briefly hurtful as that comment surely was. So he waits until she's processed her feelings a bit more, and they talk it out. (While we're here: I really like that he's sitting close to her but is facing away from her, like he's trying to give her the space/privacy she needs to process her feelings without actually leaving her alone... ugh I love it.)

Notice how, even in the midst of this fight, they start checking in with each other, putting the other person's interest before their own. Kagome sincerely urges InuYasha not to "hold back," the subtext of which reads to me: "Don't let my outburst tie you down, please do what you need to do." InuYasha responds in kind (his subtext reads to me: "Be honest, don't just put on a brave face for me") and also reassures Kagome's underlying anxiety. When he says, "You saved Kikyo, right? Then she'll be fine, I'm not going after her," he's speaking directly to the source of Kagome's insecurity—he's telling her in no uncertain terms that concern for Kikyo's safety was his only motive for seeking her out. Now that he knows Kikyo has been healed and isn't in imminent danger, he's not going after her. Again, he is intentionally addressing what he knows to be the source of Kagome's outburst when he says, "You healed Kikyo? Then I don't need to see her." To me, his message is pretty clear: "I wasn't looking for Kikyo for the reasons you think."

Like! Look at them! Openly and honestly communicating! Messily sharing their feelings! Resolving conflict and talking shit out! They've come so far. 🥹

These stage three InuKag fights feel different than their early-series fights, and they should! InuKag have built trust and love, but with that love comes vulnerability. It's the people we love who have the power to hurt us most. So even while InuKag have fundamental trust in each other, they're both aware that their feelings come with greater potential to hurt each other. And watching them navigate that tension and that duality together? MMM MMM GOOD.

Like truly, InuKag fights at every stage of their relationship are my favorite thing, it's all such good food.

Drarry fic recs #6

[podfic] Kill, Fuck, Marry written by @lettersbyelise and read by @timothysboxers

Malfoy leans toward him with a baleful look. “I do believe Pansy Parkinson, my best friend, paid you to spend the evening with me. It’s my birthday, Potter. So you’re going to get off your Gryffindor arse, and you’re going to dance with me. I want to dance. I want to win. I want that bloody trophy on my shelf before the end of the night.” Harry and Draco unexpectedly meet again on Draco’s birthday, years after their last encounter.

A delightful fic and a phenomenal reading! There are few things I love more than ex-rivals Harry and Draco discovering they actually enjoy each other's company, especially when it's done with such humor. The game of kill, fuck, marry was hilarious, and so was the dancing. And Draco's final birthday wish, well. 🔥 A phrase seen in many stories but rarely delivered with quite that much cheek. I'm all smiles and biting lips just thinking about it. 10/10 would read/listen again.

“Well, even if we went through with it, it wouldn’t work. But thanks for the grand heroic rushing in. A certain element of purity is needed to break it." Malfoy licks his lips, "You’d have to be a virgin.” Harry keeps every muscle on his face particularly still, hoping it looks to Malfoy as absolutely blank as it feels to him. Half a minute passes. “No,” Malfoy, already doing a poor job of sitting normally on his chair, bends in half, nearly falling out of it. He’s laughing. “No, Potter, no. No- don’t- you’re twenty-five years old!” “And?” Harry asks, heat staining his face. - Malfoy has a problem, Harry wants to help.

Apart from being captivating, tantalizing and touching, this story is also an interesting (and, for this reader, unique) take on the fuck-or-die trope, which I'll generally read "for fun" but will only take "seriously" if it's somehow challenged and reshaped till choice reasserts itself. Like in this fic! Which, on top of everything, (spoiler alert!) ends with one of the hottest sex scenes in my HP reading so far. Truly exquisite. 👌

In a post-war world that lives in fear and ignorance of werewolves, Draco Malfoy has taken every step to keep his condition hidden. When the delicate balance of his life shatters in a single moment, it is Harry Potter alone standing in his defence.

Another instance where excellent fic managed to sell me a trope I'm not a fan of: werewolves! It's a phenomenal story, with an interesting, political plot, excellent pacing, flawless characterization and steaming hot sex. What more could one hope for?

I loved this short piece down to the last word. It's so multifaceted! At face value, it's a confession of an unredeemed Draco, but is he? Is he really? Or did "fake it till you make it" work a little better than he expected? I'm fascinated by this because it touches on the question of whether a person can really change, which is, obviously, central to Drarry. Does a selfish motivation behind an act of kindness make the act less kind? I don't know the answers. But I do so enjoy fic that asks the questions!

Draco in Darkness by plumeria47

Following an accident in his seventh year, Draco loses his eyesight. After Harry elbows his way into Draco's dark world, both boys find themselves in a strange new friendship, and they each learn new ways to see each other … and themselves.

This story is very old and predates the canon ending of the series (thus missing out on a lot of canon Drarry content that would've made it even better). It's also a bit old-fashioned, compared to the fic I mostly read these days, and it triggered some of my technical pet peeves. Yet it hooked me within the first few paragraphs, and I grew to love it with a slow-burn passion. Draco's sudden disability is depicted in a very straight-forward, matter-of-fact, incredibly effective yet sensitive way; and his manner of coping with it is perfectly in character. Meanwhile, Harry is blind in his own way, which helps build the tension but never crosses the line of being too contrived. I had so many feels reading this. It's just beautiful, warts and all.

Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo - Ep 7-8

There have certainly been many smart words written about the finale, I've managed to read only one post so far (and I totally agree with it), I've got a busy end of the week and don't really have time to read more. So I'll quickly list what I particularly liked about the finale:

as far as I can tell, the series probably wrapped up all the threads. Some things may be a bit incomprehensible, but I think that may have been the creators' intention, so that we could guess many things rather than be told specifically by the series. Like, for example, the reasons why JuYeong stayed and took care of DoHoe's father. There could be several such reasons and each one is good (and each one could be wrong lol). Such a wrap-up of threads, a satisfying finale and leaving viewers with a sense of closure is not that common in BL series, especially those that aspire to be more serious, we all know that 🤷‍♀️ so I really appreciate it!

the actors are excellent, I really liked, for example, how looking at DoHoe's body, figure, face, one could clearly deduce his current condition. This zombie-like rigidity, apathy versus ease, a broad smile, uncontrollable bursts of laughter... it was just 👌

I liked this juxtaposition of the oppressive, homophobic, obedience-enforcing and punishing version of religion, with the positive version of religion, i.e. "and the truth shall set you free" :) Because yes, truth, honesty, liberated DoHoe, made him feel free at last, made him feel at peace

I liked this "simple, ordinary" ending in general, where the answer turned out to be a simple, ordinary truth and honesty. Even if it involves pain, loss of something, consequences. And how even these consequences cannot overshadow the overwhelming sense of freedom and peace that is immediately visible in DoHoe. I like the lack of a sugary-sweet ending: DoHoe suffers the consequences of his lies, although as viewers we root for him and want him not to be punished at all

I absolutely love JuYeon's unconditional feelings, how he helps DoHoe over and over again, just like HyeonHo, who, even when rejected, after a difficult conversation, is still ready to help DoHoe

just like the unconditional standing by the child, even at their own expense

JuYeong, when he is serious and so matter-of-fact, when he sees reality for what it is, not believing DoHoe's "mean" but also empty words about breaking up. How many such situations have we seen, when one rejects the other for Noble Motives, or Out of Fear, or for some other Bullshit Reason, when due to an irritating lack of communication the other leaves hurt and then, frustrated, we watch them suffer for several episodes convinced of their unrequited love 😬 JuYeong is not like that, he knows DoHe, he believes in his love, he doesn't believe DoHoe's words because he knows him - this knowledge of the other person, their past, their personality is something I love in my romances, and what makes me believe in love watched on screen as a viewer. Personally, I can't stand this trope when someone is pretending or saying something ooc for them and the other person just buys it. I always ask then: do you even know who you love? Because it's so obvious ooc for them! 😤Super happy that JuYeong is like "I'm not going anywhere and I don't think you actually mean it"

I love how they talk about themselves, their relationship, their life together, their future together, like a real couple, real people 🥰

I love JuYeong because he educated himself in various, sometimes serious, sometimes funny topics 🤩 I often hear men people complaining that they can't handle various things because their parents / school / no one taught them, while Google and books in the library are free. JuYeong asks the internet how to live and how to be a perfect little boyfriend for his pookie and the internet answers him lmao, this is just so simple and perfect. JuYeong is the best!

HyeonHo is so fiiiiiine

To sum up: I won't hide the fact that whether it's my own fault, or the fault of the subtitles, or the plot, or the aura of depressiveness, but episodes 4-7 were incomprehensible and chaotic for me in some parts, overly complicated at times with conversations full of ambiguities and understatements to the point of being incomprehensible (but I also completely buy the fact that I'm just too stupid to catch all the nuances lol). Overall, the series is very good, although unlike Where Your Eyes Linger, I can only watch it once. The series showed the long-term effects of domestic violence very well, realistically but with respect for the victims, without sugarcoating, without idealizing the victims. It also showed struggling with traumas, which is not always successful, it also shows how important unconditional support is, but also coming face to face with the unpleasant consequences of untreated traumas. It shows the value of love, friendship, honesty, doing what is right, without irritating moralizing. The series had a very realistic vibe, I was able to imagine all of DoHoe's feelings, and the actor convincingly played him as a lost kid, tangled in his own guilt, traumas, lies, yearning for love and hope - even though he is an adult.

The only tiny reservation I have about the series is that I would like more of JuYeong, who has also suffered so much, but from the beginning he has been a strong,leading force in their relationship and is often "the adult one". However, his type of personality, his openness, courage, honesty and straightforwardness are responsible for the fact that he copes relatively better with difficult situations. So it's not really any complaint, more an observation ;)

But apart from that, this series is really good aaaand has a good, happy ending, yay!💖

Also YES. The 2003 series slaps. The designs were awesome, the writing was excellent and each character got plenty of focus along the way. Lots of development and other good stuff. 👌💯 But the very best thing about it imo? The fact that Mikey found an abandoned kitten one winter night, promptly decided to adopt it and named it Klunk. Honestly one of the most heartwarming things I've ever seen in this whole franchise. 😭💞

👻: what is your wildest headcanon?

That Maka's mother was a witch. Not sure if it qualifies as 'wild' per se, but i think it's pretty damn compelling and it would explain her absence from the series and Maka's life. @victoriapyrrhi wrote an excellent fic exploring this and I cannot recommend it enough!

🦋: which character is your favorite to write?

SOUL EATER EVANS, WITHOUT A DOUBT 😭💕😩👌 I love writing a pining man. A hopelessly, disgustingly, horrendously down bad man in love (Exhibit A the snippet from the first question lmao). There's also just... a lot to unpack with his character in general. The manga kinda sidelined his character development after he became a Death Scythe imo, when there was still so much more that could have been explored - his inferiority complex, how exactly he copes with the legacy of his family/brother now that he's carving out a different legacy of his own, did he ever have any sort of relationship with his family while he was at the DWMA? How did he adjust to being Kid's weapon as well as Maka's? Where the heck does his 'loyalty to the point of suicidality' thing come from, and does it extend to Kid as well as Maka when he becomes a Death Scythe? I could write a million fics from his POV and I wouldn't tire of it.

🦈: which character is the toughest to write?

My original characters. OCs are definitely the toughest thing for me when navigating original fiction and I think this is my main obstacle that I need to overcome on the road from fanfic author to published novelist.

💕: what is your favorite fic you've written?

This answer might surprise folks cause a lot of you probably follow my work for my smut, but my fave fic that I've written is (no place like) home for the holidays. A lot of the story centered around Soul and his past and his family, so I had a lot of fun with those details (especially writing Wes, dear lord did I have fun writing Wes and crafting his whole character). I wrote Soul as transmasc for the first time as well, which is a headcanon that is important to me. I also think of this fic as a bit of a turning point in my writing journey - it originated as a series of loosely connected scene ideas that I somehow managed to weave together into a cohesive, novel-length narrative, and I definitely felt my writing skills 'level up' while working on it. When I go back and reread, this fic is where I definitely start to notice a consistent difference in my voice and writing style. I learned a lot while writing it!

🎬: if a movie or show were based off your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?

King of My Heart, 1000%. And actually, I got this question from several of you, so I'm saving it for it's own post later this week. KOMH fancast in progress 👀😎

💭: what inspires you and your writing?

I find inspiration everywhere and sometimes I truly... don't understand how my brain works. Opening a pair of Bluetooth headphones once gave me a book idea. Entering the wrong information into a flight status tracker website once gave me a book idea. Just hearing certain phrases will give me fic and novel ideas! Ideas and inspiration can come from the most surprising places sometimes. Music, in particular, is very inspiring for me as well. I maintain individual character and fic playlists, and often, just listening to a new song and really paying attention to the lyrics will give me fic/story ideas.

So me, Tara, and her two roommates decided to run a lil DnD campaign/series of oneshots (for us to get acquainted with all the mechanics since it's pretty much everyone's first run) and we had our session zero a few days ago. Tara was our DM and she did a phenomenal job!!!! Here's a few highlights:

Our 7-feet firbolg wizard (Amdrus) somehow became a squirrel deity.

Our dwarf barbarian (Karmin) built a most excellent barricade... for peeps his height and under 👌😂 He carried us during the first half of the session though! He was the only one rolling double digits lmao.

We snared the poor bandit that wandered away from camp to piss and hung him upside down with his dick out. Between that and a high intimidation check by my tabaxi warlock (Dante), he turned into a sobbing, pissing-and-shitting mess.

me: "Could I attack the approaching monster? Do I see it?" DM, with the biggest shit-eating grin you've ever seen: "Do you look up? 😇😇😇" me: "OH FUCK YOU". Cue manticore reveal.

me, terrified: SO ANYWAY I STARTED BLASTING (19 and nat 20 on my eldritch blasts, but rolled a 1 and a 2 on the damage dice 🙃🙃)

Amdrus was hellbent on reasoning with the manticore. The others weren't having it: Dante fireballed its ass (it was sooooo satisfying) and Karmin cleaved it in half.

DM kept rolling like shit to the point where one of the bandits shot himself with a crossbow and pisser kept failing his saving throws to free himself.

As a side note, turns out DM is really good at squirrel impressions, monster voices and sobbing NPCs lol. Tara's roommates have a toddler and she thought Tara was upset for realsies XDD

The only enemy we left alive was Mr. Pisser, whom we interrogated, fed, cleaned up and dressed in the garb of his fallen comrades (who turned out to be his brothers, whoops). We felt too sorry for him to turn him in, so Dante sent him to his ex's tavern so he could turn a new leaf...... while "kindly" threatening the shit out of him one last time ��🤣🤣

Somehow the only damage my character sustained was one (1) squirrel bite.

We harvested some meat from the manticore to cook next time ala Dungeon Meshi. Will we poison ourselves? Guess we'll find out! :D

Ngl after todays episode I am ecstatic, nay, overjoyed that pretty much all the predictions for how Tristamp is being paced to later connect with all the familiar elements from Trimax were completely correct. As someone who read most of Trimax before getting far into the Stampede series, I have to say the creators have done an excellent job at remixing elements to let both new and old fans properly get up to speed so we’re all on a level playing field of hype when the next season comes out

But also when Vash’s hair did the thing I was 👌👏👀🎉🎊👌

Really outstanding, the development Athena as a character goes through to get to this point, Zeus being his usual showy jerk self, all the other gods and their motivations and how the arguments with which they are won over. Really well made and their voices are just exceptional!!

PS. Athena’s WARRIOR OF THE MIND is also excellent! It’s how I got into this from TikTok and I’m so glad I did!

Cool movie, didn’t particularly care for the plot or characters, but the music… simply stunning and the singing and choreography for this!!

Mayfly’s performance of Love Poem [original by IU] was just outstanding and heavenly!!!

Eunkwang (BtoB), Jongho (Ateez), Seungmin (Stray Kids) really managed to perform flawlessly and showcase their vocals perfectly!

The final heist of the first movie, it’s so satisfying how everything comes together, really clever and well executed. You could have predicted it if you paid very close attention to the background throughout the movie!

Really creative how everyone has too coordinate and find different ways to recreate the sensation of falling (car falling from a bridge, crashing elevator, destroying the foundation of the hospital and just free falling from a building). It’s so satisfying!

PS. The whole movie is so visually stunning and everything is so cleverly executed!

The cinematic Awaken (2019), how I discovered the universe and even I’d I don’t particularly like the game, the lore and champions, the series tv, comics and cinematics are amazing! 🤩

In this loved how everything looked so crisp and we combine the different storylines of characters from different regions and they all reach their climax together with the song!

Irelia looked beautiful, Riven vs Draven in the colosseum, Jhin playing the piano and later fighting Camille!!!

PS. Aatrox’s voice lines always kill me. So interesting and incredibly delivered:

Blackbeard’s speech is still fresh in my mind so many years later, he really had a way of delivering his lines that was really compelling:

Caution's nothing without charisma! For if a man plays the fool, then it's only fools he'll persuade. But appear to be the devil, and all men will submit.

It's all a big show. Give your quarry something to fear, some hellish thing from a fever dream, and men will drop to their knees pleading for their Lord before all else!

PS. Loved how they explained the Creed:

To say that nothing is true is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile and that we must be the shepherds of our civilization.

To say that everything is permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious of tragic.

0) GENSHIN IMPACT, Chapter V Act IV (Natlan)

Really fantastic and epic! First with Ororon and Capitano, then the different ideology battle between the Fatui Harbinger and the Archon, them cooperating. The war against the Abyss, they really manage to show how hopeless and gruelling and bleak war can be, every choice you made and didn’t make affected the outcome, it was tiresome and difficult and at the end of the day disappointing because you could never save everyone. But also it was hype and epic and you kept fighting back and in the end we see through the fake sky!!!! Something that’s been speculated and theorised for years!

Also all the lore bombs this patch 🧐

PS. Chapter IV Act V (Fontaine Finale)

Really emotionally charged and beautiful, one of the most powerful conclusion to an act ever, you feel and care for every cha and they all came together to help of their nation!

0) AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER

The last battle of Zuko vs Azula. Simply gorgeous, the colours, the fire, the music, the silence, the atmosphere, the characters and the end of their journey and development. Everything was just perfect 😍

PS. Katara blood bending for the first time, really left an impact on me, really drives home how not hype and actually awful it is to be able to do that.

0) HUNTER X HUNTER

Ep 51. With the background of Mozart’s Lacrimosa, it was so surprising yet alluring how the Phantom Troupe going on a massacre against both mafia and police members manages to be. Really a fitting requiem for Uvogin!

PS. Killua’s ripping that death row inmate’s heart. So shocking but badass!

0) GINTAMA

Gintoki vs Takasugi. Loved how it’s structured, we go from such a brutal fight in the present to the happy times of the past and slowly we’re fed the story of exactly what happened at the end of the war and why they all went their separate ways 😢

PS. Kamui vs everyone. Similar, we see his past and how he bacare the man he is today. Also I absolutely adore his fighting style! And him going out of control 🫢, also the end!

0) BLEACH

Ichigo vs Ulqiorra. The themes (a human gradually descending into becoming a monster and a hollow slowly gaining a heart), the music, the designs (Kubo has the best transformations!), the colours (black green white for Ulquiorra & b orange black for Ichigo). So hype, so cool, so badass. And the ending is very bittersweet.

PS. The official videos Rapport & Eien. Rapport is such a nostalgic reel of all the seasons before and the most iconic moments presented wonderfully with such a good song! And Eien really encapsulates everything Bleach is about and all the best scenes of that season!

0) HAIKYUU

Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa, specifically Tsukishima’s yell! It was such a rewarding payoff from the previous seasons, really showed his growth as a character and a player. Also so hype and seeing everyone reacting and joining in being happy for that point was so wholesome!

PS. Karasuno vs Nekoma. The awaited dumpster battle, the rivals finally get to have a match and it was so interesting!

0) KUROKO’S BASKETBALL

Kise vs Aomine. First match we see without our main team, yet so engaging and nerve wracking. We see two friends going at each other with (almost) everything they have and wanting to surpass each other so badly! Also Kise finally realising his potential.

PS. Kagami vs Aomine, the moment where two people in the zone finally face each other! So much tension and excitement, also it was animated really well.

0) ONE PIECE

Fan Letter. Such a nostalgic feel, it really embodies a love letter to all the one piece fan who have followed this story for years! We see the world through completely different eyes, from the perspective of the normal people thrust in a world full of danger and monsters. But they are still able to make a difference and live freely throughout it all.

PS. Eps 982: the Strawhats’ toast, the colours, the animation, the feeling of embarking on this epic task that will change the world forever. Also the musical number XD

Very hilarious and comical, yet can instantly switch to completely serious, badass and competent. Also angst of a character who can’t die but everyone around him does.

Very graceful and whimsical, such a great portrayal of an elf. Yet can be ruthless and cold, as expected of such a long lived and experienced creature.

Also loved the movies because we see his journey from ‘young’ reckless killing machine, to more calm and composed ally.

0. Edmund Pevensie (NARNIA)

His development from the brooding spiteful brat who betrayed his siblings to a wise king who’s logical, mature, courageous; loyal confidant and supporter for his siblings.

0. Stiles Stilinski (TEEN WOLF)

Starts off as the comic relief, weak human of the group, but still smart and resourceful. Goes through so many hardships and overcomes so many obstacles.

0. Nico di Angelo (PERCY JACKSON, HEROES OF OLYMPUS)

Starts off as a kid, slightly annoying and bratty, goes through such dark times and manages to conquer every challenge he’s faced with.

Really one of the most resilient character I’ve ever seen.

0. Cloud Strife (FINAL FANTASY 7, DISSIDIA)

Starts a practically a nobody, a naive withdrawn kid. Never gives up no matter how hard his goals are and even when he’s shattered by outside forces, he still manages to retain himself. Even when he retreats in his friends and pretends to be someone he’s not, he still manages to become and hero and overcome his problems and past.

0. Leona Kingscholar (TWISTED WONDERLAND)

Based on Scar, hated second prince who will never be king. Extremely knowledgeable and capable, cunning and intelligent and gifted with magic, yet lazy and depressed, has given up on his future since he didn’t get anywhere with hard work. You can’t lie to him, he can’t be tricked nor manipulated, may seem disinterested or inattentive but is actually always carefully observing his surroundings.

His unique magic is exceptionally powerful and terrifying, could easily kill everyone around him.

Also his chant is so badass: I am the one who hungers. I am the one who thirsts. I am the one who robs you of your future. Now... Kneel before me! KING’S ROAR

0. Chuuya Nakahara (BUNGOU STRAY DOGS)

Badass, short tempered, beautiful. Extraordinarily capable in hand to hand combat, has one of the strongest abilities, is actually very intelligent and resourceful even if he lets others do the strategising.

0. Fay D. Flourite (TSUBASA RESERVOIU CHRONICLE)

Liar, long lived mage with too much power and multiple curses. Weak enough to not want to kill those dear to him, even if they’re a danger to others and directly threaten him. Strong enough to love his new found family and do everything in his power to protect them.

0. Lavi (D.GRAY MAN)

Bookman junior, part of a clan tasked with recording all history, even the secret events, he should be uninvolved and unbiased, should just mechanically record happenings without his emotions getting in the way. Liar, alway wears a mask to hide his true self, took dozens of different names and roles, can speak ani language. Is slightly becoming emotionally compromised and invested in his comrades.

0. Kurama / Shuichi Minamino (YU YU HAKUSHU)

Calm and collected, intelligent high schooler, with the soul of an ancient cunning thieving nine tail fox. Every time he fight he is cold blooded and merciless, uses his techniques, experience and knowledge to make up for his now weaker body.

0. Hibari Kyoya (KATEKYO HITMAN REBORN)

Feral capable fighter who love discipline and his city. An aloof cloud who sometimes drift over to save his Family. Uses Tonga and handcuffs, his Box animal is a hedgehog, has a pet bird. Beats delinquents and they respect him so much they reform themselves and serve him.

0. Karma Akabane (ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM)

Hard working prodigy, learned first hand how genius alone is not enough to stay at the top. Funny, violent and manipulative, able to control and direct others in order to utilise their best abilities.

0. Hiruma Yoichi (EYESHIELD 21)

Passionate, shady, manipulative, strategic devil. Will use anything within the rules to win, has countless of cards up his sleeve. A Spartan instructor, demanding leader, will trick anyone into doing what he wants, has blackmail on everyone. Not a genius, just someone who works hard and expects others to do the same.

actually an excellent movie! did the series justice, was visually nice if not consistent with the original art, and did an honestly kind of compelling job with its characters. I really enjoyed it! would recommend but only if you’ve watched the rest of the saw movies for context lol

Still being normal about JaeWon

👍👌💪

So. As for JaeWon, I went through all the stages of grief and probably even invented some new ones. Because JaeWon gave up. Words cannot describe the feelings I have for this boy, also since English is not my first language, I don't even know how to do it properly 🥳

I have no complaints about JaeWon's behaviour in this episode, everything was logical, fitting to the plot and JaeWon's character.

I "liked" everything: his cut off from JuHyun and the world, his robot-like behaviour and movements, his still face and barely moving eyes (excellent scene when JiHyun physically turns JaeWon towards him, whose eyes are still in the same position and only after a while he notices that he’s looking somewhere at his chest and only then he snaps and looks into his eyes), how he completely loses interest in the world and what will happen to him, lack of sleep, self-destructive behaviour. I once mentioned that JaeWon wants to be with JiHyun, but at the same time he wants to protect him from himself because he considers himself to be the greatest threat to the people he loves. JaeWon already has one trauma related to his brother, now he allowed himself a tiny bit of hope, and again someone was hurt in his presence, which completely ruined him and made him believe that he shouldn't (don't deserve?) be with anyone, especially with “pure” people like his little brother and JiHyun. On top of that, JaeWon wasn't himself on that trip, he was probably either high or too distracted with his problems and I’m sure he blames himself for what happened. So basically, he added a new trauma and a new guilt to the unhealed trauma and massive load of guilt he developed after his brother’s death. I just... can't even imagine what must be going on in his head and heart...

JaeWon has an interesting way of showing emotions: when JiHyun surprises him positively, he has this little snort of laughter. When he experiences negative emotions and/or he struggles with his control, he has a stony face, but visibly swallows. (I love those things, the actor is so good). In recent episodes, this is especially noticeable because JaWon is like a robot most of the time. In fact, his face only seems to come alive in two scenes: when he hears the idiot's terrible words and when he hears JiHyun complimenting and defending him in front of other people (I bet it’s also a new thing for him, everyone always calls him either handsome, or rich, things beyond his control. But JiHyun says he’s kind 🥺).

I would love to see a conversation in the series about this trip, where these strange scenes, unreal colors came from. I hope this is addressed in future episodes. Interestingly, in the photos from this trip, JaeWon has the same emotionless face..

I'm even more cool and normal about JaeWon than before. I am the temple of coolness and normality. ✨

1) How did you get into AH?

Already answered, but I got into them by seeing a video somebody made on youtube with a bunch of other fandoms that were popular on Tumblr in 2014.

5) Favorite team?

Whatever the hell team name Trevor and Alfredo have now (tho Team Nice Dynamite is always right behind them in my heart)

8) Favorite AU?

Hmm favorite AU would have to be the Fake AH Crew AU just because of all the memories I have of messing around in that AU and all the great content that people have created using that AU. There's just so much to do when the characters you're playing with are literal criminals.

25) Has a video or specific moment ever made you emotional?

Not sure if this is for like sad emotional or happy emotional or whatever, but the first video I can remember off the top of my head that made me emotional in the sad way was when Meg had to host The Know after Monty passed away.

34) Have you seen the musical?

Yep I have! Watched the whole thing when it was mixed with the GTA video.

48) If you have one, who’s your favorite fic author or fan artist?

OOoohhh boy do I *cracks knuckles*

Since I know I can't narrow this down to like one author and artist I'm just gonna do a handful of the large amount of people that have created some of my favorite works and inspired me/influenced me with how I write.

So author wise I have to first give it up for @confusedeevee who without her I would most likely not be writing AH fanfic like I am today, plus she's an excellent beta, amazing writing partner and always helps me brainstorm when I need it and will listen to me rant and rave about all my au ideas even tho it's probably 3 am for her :') and her fics are out of this world, please go read them.

Next is @futureboy LIGHT OF MY FUCKING LIFE who fed (and continues to feed tbh) my alfreyco cravings and has some of the best written dialogue out there and a head full of incredible ideas when it comes to writing! They just have some of the best writing out there and they're honestly killing it with the ST fics right now.

And since we're talking about Alfreyco (because how could we not am i right??) @jusst-you-wait is honestly really to blame for me still writing AH fic to this day, because this lovely alfreyco obsession of mine started when I read her Fake AH fic about Trevor and Alfredo investigating some abandoned building for Geoff and that's all she wrote. Also one of the best hype mans out there and such a great writer!

And I can't forget @shadeofazmeinya and @sorcererinthestars who also have some of the best fics out there in my opinion. And tbh I included both of them in one thing because one is not far from the other when it comes to fics and tumblr and there places in my HEART! Love these two so much and both have them have produced such fantastic work in this fandom and appreciate that every single DAY.

Ok now with artists unfortunately there aren't as many as there used to be in the ye olden days of the fandom, but that doesn't mean we don't have some excellent artists still!

Firstly is @keeningthoughts who without them I would not have the lovely alfreyco outlast fanart that I cry over almost daily and would not have known the joys of being in a server dedicated to a podcast co-lead by two very silly boys. Clay, your everchanging art style and the art you've drawn, no matter how silly, have always made me so happy when i see them on here or twitter :3

And then @ursifors who has created some of the most awesome art in this fandom. Just the way you draw the AH members (and Jeremy lbr) is so incredible and fun to look at. Your shading and the way you draw expressions are always the best. Like the way you nail people's faces is just 👌👌👌👌

51) Any videos, series, podcasts, etc. you’d recommend to new fans?

Would definitely recommend Red Web (how can I not?) if you're into spooky things and conspiracy theories, but for general AH stuff I would recommend Off Topic because that is always a good, tho sometimes chaotic, way to get a feel for the vibes at AH. As for videos, any Between the Games and Shenanigans videos are always great to watch. Series wise, there are always MC and GTA videos, which are CLASSICS even if they're older and Play Pals which is 👌. Always recommend those. Some more recent ones would be GMOD and 7 days to die. Also the Rage Quit anniversary video they came out like two weeks ago. That was an excellent video.
