Last minute entry in an idea that literally came to me last minute >w< This one’s a, different kind of ‘Tracys meet the Thunderbirds’ story… an AU outside of my AU, if you will x’D Another long one >w> but I’m totally okay with it <w<. A little race takes a turn when a fall over a cliff is involved. Someone they weren’t quite expecting comes to their rescue~.

When you and you little brothers want to go adventuring, you go adventuring, just maybe making sure you stay in Dad’s eyeline. Following the leader wherever he may go~ Scott didn’t mean to lead them so far away…

He did at least stop when John called out to them. He turned to look back at Virgil, black hair slightly windswept from the run his younger brother had taken after him.

“You did good keeping up, Vee!” he praised.

“Yeah but, we gotta go back,” Virgil insisted, pointing back to where John was waiting a few paces away. “Johnny says he still can’t see Dad.”

“We won’t go too much farer!” Scott admitted, taking a few steps forward before he broke into a run again. His younger brother let out a noise that half sounded like a whimper and a groan, before following. John dropped his hand when he watched his older brothers run off, fidgeting with the sleeves of his sweater. Did he go after them? Or wait for Dad to catch up and come find him? He looked back in the direction they’d come, turquoise eyes scanning along the path before he made up his mind to go sit by a tree. He’d wait there.

“S-Scott! Slow down!” Virgil was calling after his brother; the two of them still in their run through the trees. “This is farer!”

“No it’s not!” Scott called back, turning a little to glance over his shoulder. “It’s the same! We-…!”

He was abruptly cut off when he stumbled on a tree root and tripped, letting out a soft cry of panic. Virgil was quick to stop before he ran into him, concern in his brown eyes when he found his big brother had ended up on the ground.

“You okay?”

“… Yeah,” the older softly huffed, taking his hand when he offered for help up. In their moment of pause, the two took a second to brush themselves off, sending dust and dirt off in small clouds as they patted down their clothes.

“John didn’t come with us?”

“Mn-mn. I tried to tell you,” Virgil insisted with a shake of his head. He watched as Scott started wandering again, but didn’t make a move to go after him. “Come on, we gotta go back, Scotty…”

“Just, a little longer…” Scott mumbled, slowing down his wandering as he approached the clearing on the other side of the trees. Virgil begrudgingly followed, speeding up to catch and pull his brother back when he stepped to the cliffside. There was a river running below them, and a waterfall off in the distance… possibly the one they’d recently had a picnic at.

“Can we go back now?” Virgil urged.

Scott was peering over the side of the cliff, as best he could without leaning out too far, trying to get a better look at something. He almost hadn’t heard his younger brother’s question. He just, couldn’t quite see-…

“Scott!”

Virgil had let out a soft gasp as he watched his brother slip, tried to grab him, but they’d both been pulled down by gravity. Scott clung to his little brother, but there was nothing else to grab on to…

It had happened so fast, but suddenly their fall was cut short; both still landing slightly harshly on the surface underneath them. With a tight grip still on Virgil, Scott blinked, looking up at the shadow cast over them. He could only squeak out a gasp.

“Are you alright, little ones? You’re lucky I was here.” Visored eyes watched them; the silver rocket keeping her tone low as she scanned over them. “Wasn’t too much of a fall hm? Could have been worse if I hadn’t spotted you.”

“Giant rocket lady…” Scott mouthed in a whisper. Virgil carefully unburied himself from his brother’s side, peering round to see who had spoken; brown eyes widening.   

“Who…?”

“Scott! Virgil!” Dad had come running; Dad had heard them! Dad was here, and he’d brought John, who’d been gripping onto his back for dear life when he’d started sprinting at the sound of a scream. Chest heaving to get his breathing back under control, he stared astounded at the scene before them. “What…?”

Scott merely sat up in the rocket’s hands; a wide grin spreading across his lips. “Can we keep her!?!”

You can do this in anyway you like, wethers it's taking them out somewhere nice like a park or city, to playing games with them, or just hanging out with them! You're in charge of picking out something fun for your character of choise and Telly to do together! They love doing anything as long as its with friends so you're welcome to do pretty much anything!

You can also make this in an medium you'd like, be it art, comics, writing, or anything else you can think of, there is no strict medium this has to be done in so go wild and most importantly have fun!

a little update on the progress of The Big Road Home

it has been so long since i made a post that i had to figure out what to click on all over again lol. this week it hit me that ppl follow me specifically for fic upates and it just slipped my mind that i could be saying more. i have, like, internet social anxiety, and just default to never saying anything most of the time.

anyway, i'm really happy to report that progress on the fic has really moved along recently. for anyone who doesn't know, i have long covid and the brain fog has really interfered with my writing process. i originally taught myself to write using a certain system where i kept a lot of things in my head at once, and since losing that ability, i've been relearning how to write in a way my current self can do. which especially has sucked for the fic and where it left off, because the part i stopped at was actually a huge group of scenes scattered through multiple otherwise completed chapters that i was saving for later (before i got long covid). because even in my peak condition with my brain capable of keeping all the details straight, those scenes were still so challenging and important to get right that i wanted to wait until i was feeling extra sharp lol. so yeah, i've been basically having to reread my entire fic over and over every time i wanna figure out how to add in like one small part of all the things i've gotta cover (and thanks to the brain fog, on average, i'm capable of thinking thru all that maybe three days out of every month if i'm lucky?)

so, all that rereading and getting the details and characters consistent finally has been paying off, because i reached the stage this past week where i could finally bring it all together. the final product is going to be less seamless than what i'd originally intended, but that's just a given now that my brain is different. and, full disclosure, the stuff that i'm talking about is exposition. which i think for most ppl reading my fic is more like information they just want to know and less something that needs to feel seamless in delivery, unlike character interactions and emotional arcs. so, the reality is that the exposition in the next handful of chapters is gonna be a little clunky, but the non-exposition stuff will all be like normal, with the same amount of care i usually work toward.

i don't want to assume when everything will be ready. final tweaks always take me longer than i'm expecting. but to put it into perspective, i spent the last 2-3 yrs (i forget how long it's been oh no) getting thru like 20 percent of what needed to be done. and then i just spent a few days last week getting through 60 percent. i'm gonna wait until the full set of chapters i'm working on is complete because i want to be able to post them without a long wait in between, and i want to take the time to really get the emotional beats right. but i guess if i had to say anything for sure, it would be that for the first time since i got long covid, i'm truly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for this fic.

my final note is that the next set of chapters isn't the end of The Big Road Home btw. i forget if i ever mentioned this, but from the start, The Big Road Home was going to be three main parts. the first part with jason and tim being street kids together, then this part we're in with tim living with the Wayne's is part 2. there's gonna be a whole 3rd part coming. idk how long it'll be, lol. it's the only part i haven't written a single word of because i've kind of been saving it as a treat.

thanks for your patience and encouragement all this time. as i said, i have pretty awful social anxiety on the internet and don't reply to ppl who reach out nearly as often as i want to. but every kind word or fanart or playlist or thoughtful comment on stuff you noticed etc etc has really carried me through the past few yrs. i can't tell you how many times i was spiraling, feeling like i might not be able to figure out how to write the next part with my current limitations, and one of you said something so lovely and encouraging, and i'd just suddenly have it in me to give it another try.

Crewel has his age listed as 32, so the exact timeline for bio kid Yuu isn't really there, unfortunately :/ He'd have been around 16 if we keep with the "cannon" ages and if we go with writing NRC as an actual University then there's even less time. Otherwise I'd jump on the chance for the drama because this entire fic is such a soap opera. Maybe I'll write something with this concept for the mafia ayuu ｢( • ﾍ •) that way it's the best of both worlds.

The reader in this fic is isekaid for the first time while on a date with their boyfriend. When they return to their/Yuu's world, they are so determined to pretend that nothing is wrong they do whatever they think a normal person in their position would do. This includes dating and eventually getting engaged to someone. The homewrecker accusation is something of an inside joke between them and Crewel because of some things y/n said when they first met. But Crewel is deadly serious about it, he doesn't give a shit about either of those guys. He's... not really on his best behavior for this one lol

Yuu is a troubled kid who reader adopts because they relate to them. The two have a close bond, and while Yuu knew about "Divus" they didn't know about Twisted Wonderland. I wouldn't say they think of Crewel as a father figure (at first anyway) they just like him better than reader's current fiance.

Actually now that I think about it this is sort of a Halloween version of a Hallmark movie except no it's not... Halloween is important to the fic though so I'm really grinding to make sure it's done on time.

Assuming you're referring to how loose my sketches are, I think it boils down to mileage. Alongside the classic recommendation of reference + study, usually when I get really into a piece of media I'll draw characters I like a whole lot and it builds muscle memory, and the ones that end up in my posts usually have already been through that process to some extent.

Studying references + going through a couple dozens rounds of extra wonky proportions and nonsensical physics (definitely visible on my own posts lmao) will help with both your brain and muscle and once you've stacked up enough of that it'll become easier to intuit certain things and keep stuff looser.

(hey this got really long, so just scroll to the bottom to see my current sketch process if you'd prefer that)

In my personal experience as a hobbyist, I spent roughly 3 years butchering the loomis method until things looked even remotely to my liking. And by that I mean "layering bullshit guidelines so thick and heavy that by the time I'm done lightening it via eraser there was barely any paper left." Drawing has been and still is really frustrating sometimes but for most of it I have a lot of fun and honestly as long as you have that it doesn't really matter whatever else (again, hobbyist here. my stakes are low). Switching up medium every once in a while if you can helps keep things interesting, and drawing with a pen is good for building both line confidence and tolerance for your own mistakes.

Honestly for all of that this stuff is still RNG to me lol. Every once in a while things just Will Not Work Out, but the rates definitely gets better the more experience you have. I only post about, say, 20% of what I draw probably. The rest includes but is not limited to practice sketches, personal art, stuff too nonsensical for even tumblr, or sketches I just plain don't like.

Uhhhhh now for what you actually asked. I've grown really lax, if not a little lazy, regarding guidelines (when you've drawn a specific thing often enough it just kinda gets tedious) so now i just do these very thin and light lines vaguely hinting at a character's pose and position. The only thing I consistently do is probably the little circle to indicate the head. For more heavily stylised proportions I'll go into more details at the outline stage, mostly aiming for the feeling of it (usually how goofy it looks since thats what I use them for). For more complex poses/ones I'm not familiar with I'll do multiple iterations.

Unearthed some stuff that I probably wouldn't post otherwise (the proportions are a bit off from what i'd prefer and the lineart isn't that confident). Here i am redrawing this for demonstration purposes

gonna go in order of the photos. everything shown was done with a 0.5 mechanical pencil.

usually i start with these very thin, light lines, just getting a very rough ideas of where everything is - head, torso, pose (spine, arms, legs). i sketch largely with approximations and landmarks, keeping in mind some bullet points for the relative distance among certain body parts (e.g. make sure the elbow is always a little past the rib cage. i'll write more out at the end) rather than any precise guidelines. i often don't even clean these up - at the end the main lineart is harsh enough that they override these, and though they're visible they do not interfere with the image as a whole. you can look at any of my sketches prior to this and find them.

then i go in with hard, dark lines, once again noting the respective distance among facial features (i'm using the loomis proportions, thinking about the face in thirds)

this is so unhelpful when i just say it, but genuinely at this stage i rely on muscle memory and mileage. if you've drawn the same anime girl for a bajillion times you can probably intuit the proportions. remember that 3d things have volume and interact. ("yes, see, her bangs and eyes round out like this, two locks of hair (they're thick and well kept, so they should have a solid cylinder shape...) against the side plane of her face - split that plane of the skull in half, and the ear should be somewhere around there...")

ok for the parts where a lot of things happen (clothes, tie, the pose interfering with them etc) i just go ham. make a mess! draw everything out even if they overlap each other. so you can keep track of them. here i also bring in some light shading to make out the form of her torso.

i lighten the whole thing with eraser, but the previous lines are harsh enough that the residue can act as a new base of sorts. i think this is comparable to having a sketch layer with lowered opacity in a digital piece

i go over the whole thing again now that i've got a better idea of the form

rinse and repeat. go all in, adjust, blow the whole thing up if it looks off and then build on the remains

for the last photo, you can see that I've adjusted the right leg, since now im taking into account perspective. I uhhhhh still am not particularly confident in drawing her shoes (or any other shoes for that matter) in 3d space so once again I'm bullshitting the form with trying to wrap around its shape and to visualize the shadows. usually for these I pull up references and pray

a side note for the hands: against an earlier ask, I've mostly switched to using silhouettes and then sectioning the fingers after. here the slight shading approach also help in blocking out and making them readable without you having to stress over the minutiae of what joint should bend where.

...I've hit the upload limit for photos, so I'll reblog with additions, but in essence:

• very thin lines to map out the pose and mark where certain body parts may go

• i draw everything in approximation, keeping a few bullet points in mind and adjust as i go (which does keep the sketches loose and make it easier to vary proportions for different characters, but also make floating features more likely (evident in some of my more recent posts as well):

loomis for the head and neck

rib cage (+collarbone), then elbow slightly below it

pelvis, crotch halfway point of the whole body

legs, knees their halfway point

feet are about as long as the forearm usually

(Disclaimer: i must stress again that I'm not a professional, and cannot guarantee that these bullet points are entirely correct. This is just how i draw at the time of writing - stylized with little regard for the intricacies of human anatomy)

• with the exception of the first stage, my lines are dark enough that the mistakes get reused as base for correction after they've been lightened with eraser a little bit.

• I also bring in some shading while doing lineart to make sense of form if I'm having trouble. I use this most often for noses, hands, legs, and breasts.

• if you encounter a sketch that Refuses To Work Out, leave it. No, listen to me, Leave It. Revisit it sometimes later, if you want (for mine they range from a week to 5 months, but my sketchbooks disorganization is another matter entirely). just leave it for a bit.

• do a bunch of pen sketches if you wanna get comfortable with mistakes/build muscle memory

• once more, all-time classic: reference the hell out of anything you don't know. 100000 google images. look up a human anatomy 3d model to see what muscles attach to which bone. practice copying 1:1 things that look good to you (practice!! don't post/claim anything as your own if it isn't - this applies to my own stuff btw, feel free to trace for practice at your own risk). note again that the only reason i can only bullshit my way out of these is because i've drawn them dozens of times - the moment you throw me more complex perspectives i'll need to start the learning process all over again

Hiya! Also checking in to ask about your thoughts on characters with FDs. I am keeping in mind that it’s not your job to educate others, so if me asking this feels like it’s perpetuating that idea, lmk. I’m mainly sending an ask because you responded to the previous one with gladness about being reached out to.

So, I know villains with FDs are a pretty MASSIVE “no”. Full stop. I was wondering what your thoughts were on fans portraying villains from established media who have FDs in their works? (ex. I’m personally uncomfortable drawing Chip’s post-Chipped Off design because I’ve since learned the ableism his design perpetuates, but I still write his post-Chipped Off self in an apocalypse fanfic I have (and in rps and whatnot), where his FD is never talked about or visibly portrayed, but post-Chipped Off him is still used because the writings take place after that episode. Do you see that as an issue at all?)

Also, side question, and still sort of related, but what are your thoughts on characters with FDs who aren’t villains, but implied to be reckless/are reckless or just jerks in general (take Nick Mulligan for example)? Do you think they perpetuate any ableist stereotypes, or is it different since they’re not a villain and instead a flawed side-character?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, since you’re apart of the demographic disfiguremisia affects!

thank you for the ask! yeah, it isn't my job to educate people on the basics of this stuff, and i'm glad you're aware of that! i wouldn't worry about it because anything that goes over my boundaries i'll probably just ignore or respond privately lol. i don't feel forced to do anything i don't want to do on this site

i'm also uncomfortable drawing chip's S4 scar, but i love his return in the season otherwise! i think so long as you continue to acknowledge the ableism in his design and avoid it, you're good! you're still allowed to enjoy a character while realizing that some aspects could've been done better :)

oh dang nick mulligan i have some mixed feelings about. he's a really enjoyable and sympathetic character, but in the end he's still a scamming jerk in the end, right? people will still take away bad things about visually disabled people then. big city greens' only FD rep are with chip, viperfang, cogburn, and nick (AFAIK). and 3/4 of those characters are written to go against the protagonists.

maybe if there were more characters with facial differences who weren't a-holes (like. imagine jade with a facial difference! maybe her glasses correct her strabismus or something! that'd be awesome!) then that'd balance it out, and i'd be okay with nick's eyepatch LOL. but when your only facial difference representation is only of bad people, you are not putting us in a good light. y'know?

like, for comparison, imagine if cricket was the only confirmed character with ADHD in the show (which, i think quiet please codes him as that anyway, but i digress). cricket is an awesome, enjoyable character with his own strengths and pitfalls! but having your only ADHD character be an extremely reckless and hyper young boy perpetuates every ADHD stereotype in the book lol. having multiple other characters with ADHD, with different personalities and ways of symptoms presenting, not only breaks that stereotype but actively challenges it!

again sorry if any of this was unorganized. it's actually really nice being able to put down my thoughts for others in a coherent way haha. i hope this helps!!

(edit: i forgot to add this, but i wouldn't get rid of nick's eyepatch like i would with chip's scar! because nick actually has redeeming qualities about him-- wanting to bond with his grandchildren-- and i don't want that representation taken away, questionable as it may be overall. chip just straight up wants to murder the greens and he gains his scar for no reason mid-way through the show, so that i don't consider disability erasure)

I propose to you with Mini au "sleep over system"

Basically when a mini becomes friends with another mini and gets a minimum of 2 fragments of friendship they can go on a sleep over which is basically where they can go to a space that alter ego has set up in the neo program where they'd be safe and no student can harm them or take them until the sleep over is done and no senpai is present there and the minis can trade information with each other, and it's also used as a way for alter ego to make sure the minis code are in order I think

But just imagine that with kyoko and makoto where as soon as it's unlocked she's just snatching makoto and making him spill on everything he knows and having him help her, or with literally any other mini since makoto is very lovable and friends with everyone

Although if this system was in place nagito would sadly have to part with makoto a lot because a lot of the minis really like makoto, but I also think it's funny for hajime for at first be surprised at kyoko thinking "she has friends!?" To slowly shift to him thinking she actually has a crush because she keeps inviting makoto over for sleep overs

(Mini Classmates AU Masterlist)

This is a fascinating idea. I think it says something about me as a writer that my first thought is, "I'd love to keep the sleepover aspect while removing the safety aspect..." Lol.

But it makes sense that it should be in a Love Hotel kind of pocket reality, since otherwise it would be a huge trust thing for any senpai to let their kouhai sleep over in another cabin.

Basically, I like both ideas...But I still kind of want the messiness!

I think we could make it so that in-person sleepovers are a thing for the minis just by kind of placing that in the same weird gray area as letting Nagito and Fuyuhiko walk around despite both clearly being suspicious. (Like in THH, it's clearly a problem that Syo is here, but no one is going to do anything about it.) The sleepovers can kind of be like that. They all just kind of act like it's fine to keep doing them, out of a kind of unwillingness to engage with the danger of the situation.

I just love the mental image of the other minis showing Makoto around their habitat, and every senpai having to make an extra space for tiny visitors. Chapter 2 could just be a series of Makoto sleepovers, for the whole time Nagito is tied up.

(People don't trust Nagito enough to let Makoto host sleepovers in Nagito's cabin, so it's always Makoto going to them. This results in several senpais having to deal with Makoto's luck for a night. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE FELL DOWN THE SINK? Sh!t, I better get one of Peko's ribbons...!")

And yes, Kyoko is absolutely grilling Makoto for information whenever Hajime is allowed to bring him back to the cabin. Hajime might, too.

(Later in the killing game, Nagito of course stops letting people take Makoto home.)

My thoughts on Spy x Family: EYES ONLY Guidebook (English ver) - part 3

Continuing from my previous two posts, this will be my last post discussing the English version of the SxF manga guidebook "EYES ONLY." I'll discuss some of Endo's and Lin's comments on specific chapters, some of the included concept art for the series, all the Twiyor tidbits the book has to offer, and conclude with a couple things the English version of the book omits.

There's at least one comment from Endo and/or Lin on every chapter of the manga from when the book was originally published (up to chapter 61). Unfortunately I can't cover every single comment, but I did want to highlight a few (more will be covered in the Twiyor tidbits later on).

Lots of great info about the cruise arc. Makes sense that they had to plan it out many months in advance and keep revising it to patch up plot holes. All that work definitely paid off! Interesting that they almost considered not having Loid on the ship at all. Glad they didn't because otherwise we wouldn't have gotten one of his best outfits! 🤣 (can't wait to see this piece of work in color in the anime!)

Incidentally, the scene Endo mentions where he "managed to make Yor look pretty cute" is this one (she does look pretty cute here).

My favorite comment of Endo's about any chapter has to be this one for chapter 56. Never change, Endo 😂

And lastly, some good comments about chapter 59 (Becky visits the Forgers).

This is one of my favorite stand-alone chapters so I'm glad it was well received. Funny how they kept going with the joke instead of ending it "normally"...but when you have such great characters and setups, good comedy writes itself!

Below is Endo's commentary about Henderson, not a specific chapter, but thought I'd point it out since he mentions Henderson is the only character he's done a shower scene for...not anymore!

Also, while not related to a specific chapter, I do like what Endo says below about Loid and Yor's "dark sides."

He enjoys drawing them this way, which is cool, but he's also cautious about not overdoing it and saving those expressions for important situations.

Concept art

Most of the pre-serialization character designs included in this book were also in the exhibition pamphlet, which I already discussed thoroughly here (wish I had remembered these were in the fanbook so I wouldn't have put so much effort into trying to read Endo's scribble notes). So I'll just mention a few of the most notable things.

As I discussed in my post about the pamphlet, Franky was at some point intended to be the uncle of the family. Though I do think it would have been fitting to make him the uncle, I also like the main focus being on just the "nuclear" family, with the uncle and other characters having supportive roles.

An interesting note about the beta version of Yor is that she seemed to be more like Fiona - she was in love with Loid right from the start, to the point of trying to eliminate Anya! I doubt this is something she would be doing all the time as it would have been difficult to make her a likable main character if she was always trying to kill her daughter...in all likelihood, she would have tried to kill Anya at first before eventually learning to love her as a daughter. While I see how this could work for an intriguing character arc, I'm glad Endo decided to make Yor a loving mother to Anya right away, and not make her feelings for Loid an obsessive "love at first sight" kind of thing.

Twiyor tidbits

Being the shipper that I am, I tried to see if I could pinpoint any Twiyor subtleties throughout the book, as vague as they may be! 😂

Below are excerpts from Loid and Yor's character pages where we're given info on their current stance about each other.

Below are excerpts from chapters 14 and 35, probably the most Twiyor-heavy chapter pages in the book.

This confirms that Loid did indeed interpret Yor's kick as her not having any romantic feelings for him.

Below are comments by Endo and Lin for chapter 30, where Fiona is introduced.

Endo's line is a little ambiguous here, but I think he's saying how people sympathize with Fiona because she's "doomed to lose," which is...telling 😅 (does Fiona's loss automatically mean a Twiyor win?)

Endo says he likes the "You're strong, Yor" conversation, one of the most Twiyor-ish scenes in the series so far! 😊 Lin also mentioned how they got to use that theme again during the Becky chapter.

Weird that he chose to highlight this line of all things as Loid's "Family Comment" for chapter 10. Could this and chapter 79 be more foreshadowing for an eventual "Twilight vs Thorn Princess" showdown? 👀 Or maybe he just likes teasing fans because he knows it's something they fantasize about.

English version omissions

There's an additional Endo interview that's missing from the English version of the book: an interview with him and Kazumi Takayama, a former idol of the group Nogizaka46.

At first it seemed very odd that they would leave out just this interview, but after discussing it with others on Discord, I realized it's because it has to do with an idol. Apparently getting licensing rights for anything that has to do with a Japanese idol group is very difficult, which is further hindered by the fact that Takayama isn't even part of that idol group anymore, which makes getting the content green lit for official release overseas even more taxing. So probably Viz decided it wasn't worth the trouble and just left out that interview. But thankfully u/Nemshi on Reddit posted a fan translation of it, which you can read here. They talk a bit about SxF, but most of it is just general questions they ask each other.

And the other thing missing from the English version that I really can't understand is the inside cover! Another great 4th-wall breaking joke from Endo (I added a quick translation of the Japanese version below).

Unlike the Takayama interview, I have no idea why they didn't include this. They include the inside cover as an extra page in all the English volumes, so why not here? Very weird.

Okay, time for a tidbit about me, I'm the youngest of two. So I wrote this mostly based on what I have heard from others about what it's like to be an older sibling to many younger siblings. It always seemed to me that the eldest has to take on a bit of a parental role (as we see with Lucifer). So I wanted to capture that while still indicating that the brothers see MC as a love interest lol. Hopefully I did okay.

Lucifer

Eldest sibling solidarity. It's nice to have someone who understands what he has to deal with on a regular basis. Just knowing that you get it means a lot to him.

Okay but he's going to enlist your assistance now that he knows you can handle it. Expect to be his counterpart, you're probably the nicer one, which makes it easier for him to be even more strict. Help him keep his brothers in check, MC. He needs you.

Considering he sees you as his partner in authority rather than one of his own younger siblings he needs to deal with, he's going to get very protective of you. Will absolutely chew out any of his brothers that give you grief.

Appreciates how responsible and helpful you are. Starts to wonder how he ever managed to get by without you. Doesn't admit to this often, but when you're alone, he'll let you know just how much he appreciates you.

Mammon

Oh no, not another one. But don't worry, he's used to this. He's had to deal with Lucifer for just about forever, so he can handle you. He actually listens to you and pretty much just goes along with whatever you say.

Will absolutely back you up when it comes to the younger brothers, too. If he's the one who's part of the problem, all you have to do is look at him a certain way and he'll stop immediately. Sides with you in every instance.

Appeals to you when Lucifer is being strict, especially if he's been strung up again. C'mon, MC! Ya know he didn't do anythin' that bad! Get Lucifer to let him down, would ya?

You find he responds much better to positive reinforcement than punishment. Due to the results you achieve with this, you can usually talk Lucifer into letting you deal with him when he's done something problematic again.

Leviathan

He's wary of you at first. An eldest sibling who's used to dealing with younger brothers? So what, you're just a nicer version of Lucifer, is that it? Maybe not. Maybe you're just as bad as Lucifer! Might avoid you at first.

He'll come around, though. And he finds he doesn't mind if you start scolding him. It's completely different from when Lucifer does it. And he actually listens to you, too. Finds he doesn't like to upset you.

Comes to you for help. When he needs something, he's always at your door. Especially if it has to do with one of his brothers. You always know what to say and what to do. Can you please help him out, MC?

Isn't as good at backing you up as his older brothers, but definitely will stand with you in solidarity if needed. He begins to trust your judgment and if things are getting crazy with any of his brothers, he knows you can help to set everybody straight.

Satan

Absolutely does not listen to you in the beginning. Especially if you seem to team up with Lucifer or otherwise help Lucifer keep the younger brothers in check. He's going to chafe against any kind of authority, even if it's you.

When he sees how you are, though, the way you seem to understand him better than anyone else, he actually changes his mind. He considers you to be reasonable and more often just doing your best to keep things from getting out of control.

Begins to appreciate the dynamic you bring to their family. Eventually starts coming to you for help with things. Tries to make helpful suggestions when he can.

If he gets angry, you can calm him down. If he's really going at it with one his brothers, a calm word from you can be enough to break through it. He'll see what he's doing and actually back down. He's sorry, MC. Thank you for keeping him grounded.

Asmodeus

Oh, you're used to younger brothers, are you, MC? Just you wait. The older ones aren't really any better in this case. Trust him, things get can absolutely unhinged here at the House of Lamentation.

He listens to you, though. Asmo never really fights too much with Lucifer and he's not about to start fighting with you, either. Anyone else is fair game, but he doesn't see you as a threat. And if you start to look stressed, he will do what he can to help with that.

Okay, but if you're going to be all older sibling with them, he's going to make sure you have some time to relax. Sometimes you need to take a break from wrangling demon brothers, you know? Let him give you a massage or something.

Will absolutely step in and tell off one of his brothers for stressing you out or arguing with you. He doesn't care if they do this to Lucifer, but can't they see that you're different? You don't deserve their nonsense and he won't stand for it!

Beelzebub

Beel loves how in control you always seem to be. Lucifer does a good job, but he's also busy with council work and other such things. You always seem to have time to work through the problems that might arise. And it makes him feel like everything will be okay.

Doesn't like it when his brothers fight or get into trouble, so he's glad when you're able to divert these issues. Trusts you completely. Always listens to you. Backs you up if need be. He's always on your side, MC.

Does things that he thinks will make life easier for you without being asked. Brings you snacks just because he thinks you look tired. You're always taking care of him and his brothers, so he wants to take care of you, too.

Another one who will fight back on your behalf, but does it much more quietly. Gives his brothers disapproving frowns that actually make them feel bad so they back off. He's pretty easy going but he can be scary when he wants to be.

Belphegor

Not at all impressed. So you're an oldest sibling, too, huh. He doesn't care. He doesn't need you or Lucifer or anybody else. He's perfectly capable of cruising through life the way he always does.

Will not appreciate any attempts on your part to get him to be more responsible. If you push him too much, he will get bratty. He'll talk back, but he'll also just ignore you entirely. Really arguing with you is too much work, so it's easier to just go take a nap instead.

Due to Beel's influence, though, he will eventually just follow along with whatever. After an initial phase of brattiness, he'll decide he doesn't care enough. Beel likes you, that's good enough for him. He'll just follow with whatever the two of you want.

You're not so bad, MC. He likes the way you sometimes take control of situations where his older brothers are being really noisy. It makes it so he can sleep without being disturbed and he appreciates that. Just don't get too stressed out. He wants you to rest, too.

HI! Real quick please refrain from referring to Sad Sack as S/S for the uh... Obviously reasons LOL We call it "sads" for short!

If what you're asking for are recommendations for a website to host that kind of thing, Neocities, Twitter, Itchio and as you mentioned AO3 are all perfectly good options! Patreon too (depending on how gnarly you're planning on getting) but I'd suggest keeping that as a secondary host option because I don't think it lends itself super well for getting your work circulating. I believe Bluesky allows that kind of thing too, but I'm not too sure since I don't use it.

Now, If you're asking about public reaction rather than guidelines, anywhere you go you might find people that don't jive with the work you do 🤷 just be upfront about the type of content you're making right off the bat to avoid having anyone stumble upon it by accident to the best of your abilities, otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. I know we're constantly exposed to examples of overwhelming harassment and "dogpilling" happening to others but... Truth be told, most of us won't ever get to the size/internet level of fame where we experience that. I think the threat is a little bit... Overstated, nowadays. Not to mention that most of the time people are getting harassment for things that have nothing to do with their work, and rather relating to their behavior and attitudes. Play smart, be responsible, and be honest! Whatever comes next is in god's hands LOL

About the booze question, honestly I'm not picky at all, I usually go by price and by that I mean whatever is cheapest LOL but I prefer a dry white as far as types go.

You only have to pay for it once! You get a code that unlocks the software and all of it's features and you're free to cancel your subscription after that. At some point the code might change or there might be an update that requires subscribing again - but that seems like a very rare occurrence so I wouldn't worry about it.

OH NO I HAVE DEFINITELY TRACED MY OWN REFERENCE BEFORE, but not entire poses! When something is challenging I'll make a point of drawing it out the usual way.

I can remember a couple of instances from Nick and mine's comic where I traced pictures I took of myself, just as a time saving measure. Again like I said in the post, there are several ways to employ tracing your own material that is perfectly acceptable. I have also traced bare-bones 3D backgrounds that I made for the same reasons.

I know you specifically asked about tracing when something's complicated, but I still wanted to be upfront to demystify the practice under different circumstances. The rule of thumb is to never use it when you know it would be inhibiting your skill development!

Happy to hear you wanted to pick up the skill! I definitely understand the urge too LOL since playing BG3 and becoming so invested in the stories and characters my art has improved a ton, simply from forcing me out of my usual style and making me want to capture different moods and scenarios - finding something you're passionate to draw is, frankly a great damn start.

So because PlutoTv has a Yu-Gi-Oh channel, I've been watching it and now it just makes me want to do another binge, it's been a while since I've done a proper YGO marathon. But I just wanted to say, because the Ceremonial Duel is on currently... I have a lot of thoughts. I know the first time I watched it, I cried because wow.

I think it's crazy that in order for Atem to move on, he had to lose the duel to Yugi and if he won, then he stayed. I get why it was that way but still crazy.

But the big thing is, why couldn't he just stay? Why did he HAVE to give up his second chance at life again? He barely got to be Pharaoh it seems like because he had to defeat Zorc and sealed it away with his soul and all that, which top tier King move. So why couldn't he stay in the present with the new family he's created and a new life?

Here's the thing, I understand why people would be upset by it, but I am of a few minds about that decision. If he was going to be able to stay, would he somehow get his own body? Through magic? OR would he continue to share a body with Yugi? If he's gonna keep sharing with Yugi, I'd rather him move on too because that's not really living and that's not really fair to Yugi, Atem or even the others. They would still call Atem "Yugi" even when they had other things to call him later on, "Yami", "Pharaoh" and then later "Atem".

If he did get his own body, would he look like his actual self? A black man? Personally, as a black woman, who first watched this show as a black kid and saw glimpses of a black Yami (before knowing his true name), that's actually kind of important to me lol. That would be disappointing to me otherwise.

So, while I understand why people would be upset that after everything, Atem didn't get to continue his second chance at life, unless he was able to somehow get his body back in order to actually live his life, and not have his soul trapped in a body that isn't his... I'm okay with the bittersweet ending.

Also, his return in Dark side of Dimensions was so good, he didn't even have to say a word... god I love Yu-Gi-Oh and I love Atem so much... and Yugi of course lol. Gotta give my boy some love too.

There's something that have been on my mind for a while now, and I'd like to have your opinion on this because I know even if you disagree you're not gonna chop my head off.

So, I see a lot of Lucy is a good friend to everyone but no one is here for her, especially after last episode. I don't know if this is me but let's take this season with Celina for example. After something happened with Tim (Valentin's day, april fools) Celina tried to know what's going on, lucy keep to herself. Rachel literally asked her in E3 if she would have talk to her about Tim if she wasn't MIA and her reaction was like yeah no girl won't have happened either way. The scene when Nolan is in her apartment last season always cited as example but beside shaking her so she can be honest about her feelings, what could he have done ? That's like when he was sorry for the detective exam, she didn't want to talk about it, she walk away. I see Lucy as someone who love to pick on others peoples's brain, love to talk about their stuff but don't want others to be in that place with her. She keep her emotions to herself.

Now, there's also the fact that the cast is too big, we have 3 storylines an episode so when something happen to one of them, obviously the person present for them will be their person. Like Nyla/Angela. Tbh they are the only ones to have a best friend in the show because they are 2 regular cast who are in the plots unlike their husband. Angela is also Tim's best friend yet we are lucky if we have 2 episodes with them in a season and she is not present for him everytime something happened. Next week will be the first time since the break up. Kinda crazy when you think about it. Tim who is living alone is I think the more isolated/alone character right now. Lol It's simple the show is Angela/Nyla+ james/ wesley, John/Bailey/Celina, Lucy/Tim. (Lucy/celina mix a little because of their home) When something big happened in the show is where they are all here for each other, they're here when it matter, but otherwise yeah I doubt you'll see something big happening to Tim and Lucy and the person here for them would be someone else. It would feel weird. Again because the others are in their storylines. The same way we don't see lucy in Nyla/james storyline... Nolan was here yesterday for lucy with advices, I think this is what we get in the show tbh with friendship. Am I crazy ?

Hey anon! Guess what? I agree with you 100%. I have always thought that Lucy is the one who doesn't reach out to others when she's upset. And it builds up until she dumps everything on someone like she did to Nolan last season. I know it's popular to bash Nolan (I've even been guilty of it myself sometimes), but in that instance what were people expecting him to say? Jackson is always held up to be the best friend Lucy ever had, but I think he would have had the same reaction. (And when she dumped on Grey when he rode with her after the breakup, he had a similar reaction. He was just more sarcastic about it than Nolan.)

So I guess the real question is why is she like that? Personally, I think there are two reasons. The easiest answer is exactly what you pointed out, a huge cast. Angela/Nyla get a lot of screen time because they want to play up the Cagney/Lacey aspect of their relationship. But there is so little time to give to the other friendships because they have so much story to tell. You got me thinking about this, when was the last time we had a scene with James/Wesley by themselves? I can't think of one since season 4. They are always with their wives when they are together. And Nolan's best friend Ben has been MIA since Nolan bought his house. So part of the reason Lucy doesn't have a close friendship is it's easier to write it that way. It's lazy, but I've pointed out several times, this show isn't exactly known for its groundbreaking writing. Breaking Bad it ain't.

The second reason, has to be her parents. Both her parents are pieces of work! Parents never really stop shaping us. No matter how long we've been out of their house. My mom and I have a great relationship and in a lot of ways she's my best friend. But no one can make me feel like a failure like she can because she can't understand why I've never gotten married. I think Lucy has been greatly affected by her parents hatred of the job she loves so much. And then add in how Tim hurt her and of course what she went through in season 2, well it's easier for her to hold herself back from others. Kind of similar to the whole I'm going to hurt you before you hurt me way of thinking. If she doesn't get too close then you won't disappoint her and she won't disappoint you. But Lucy is such an empathetic person that she can't help but want to be there for everyone else. So we end up with the perfect friend who never really lets you in. It breaks my heart for her, but I can totally understand how she got to this point.

I completely agree with you, on everything! I see so many people calling Aemond all sorts of things; misogynistic, power hungry, evil, villain, and so on. But I think that's such a... shallow way of seeing things, isn't it? It upsets me to see it, I feel like they don't consider the bigger picture when saying that about him, don't consider his story or everything else that happened.

I think the look on his face, how he was damn near tears, when Alicent touched him says so much, shows so much of how he's truly feeling in that moment, it's like his mask slips a little; as you said, I feel like a bigger part of his actions come from how hurt he is by her and her own actions towards him, directly and otherwise. How she blames him for the war and still holds affection for Rhaenyra, as we've previously talked of. I agree that he maybe does feel compelled to punish her, and with reason; as you said, to him it looks like abandonment; abandonment from the only person who was ever on his side, damn, of course that would hurt and get him reacting more with his feelings than his mind. But overall I'd still dare say Aemond loves his mother quite a lot, so much about him revolves around her; and as Ewan himself has said, it's something Aemond wants, he's seeking that approval, that love, he wants to make her happy and proud; but ultimately he's going about it the wrong way, yet the only way he knows.

Also yes! His scenes with Aegon definitely feel like brothers bickering, I would never say that he hates his brother, much less that he meant to kill him. I just agree with all you said about it!

And yes, again lol, I also think the way Aemond presents himself to the "public" is not who he is at all. And this is, again, literally something Ewan has said on multiple occasions (I mean, what else do people need to believe it at this point) how Aemond feels this need to put up a ruthless and cold facade to protect himself, to keep himself from appearing weak because if he's all powerful, no one can hurt him - and honestly, I think it makes a lot of sense given what he's gone through and especially given the glimpses we get of the real him during his vulnerable moments (that I too, deeply wish we got more of). Because even if the writing of the show is not perfect, I do think that this is what they, and especially Ewan, are trying to show with Aemond.

I think a lot of people fail to see that, and sometimes they almost make me believe it too :'), so I thank you for reminding me that he's not inherently evil or uncaring.

first of all, never apologize for a long ask! i love long asks!! my favorite thing is hearing other people’s takes on things and sharing opinions and building off of what each other has to say so genuinely, i love this shit!

i agree with everything you have to say! honestly most of my opinions of aemond are based on what ewan has to say about him in interviews because (sadly) the show isn’t giving us much to work with. that’s why i try not to hold it against people who are against him (or anyone else for that matter) or who don’t see the dimension that is there — shitty writing will build a shitty audience.

so much of the show and who the characters are lives in subtext and requires people to read between the lines, which, when done well and utilized sparingly can be quite interesting and entertaining! but it almost feels as if there’s too much grey area while being too little at the same time — i feel like my hand is being held in the wrong places, if that makes sense.

also! your ask made me realize that there is suuuuuuuch a parallel going on between aemond and how young!alicent was in season 1 when otto got sent away!!

like at that point in time, alicent had no one at the red keep she felt she could trust fully. her father is gone, rhaenyra has lied to her, and she’s been played like a pawn onto viserys. she’s alone, or at least feels that way. that’s also when we started seeing her lashing out a little, granted in small ways but still — lashing out.

now if we look at aemond, i think he’s in a similar position. he feels he can’t trust his mother anymore because she’s “abandoned” him for rhaenyra and is upset about luke. he was never close with aegon so that’s out the window. helaena is upset with him about aegon. he can’t trust criston because criston is in bed with alicent (idk if aemond knows that but the man isn’t dumb and alicole weren’t exactly subtle) and is loyal to aegon, at the end of the day.

everyone that should conceivably be there for him isn’t — whether that’s actually true or his own insecurity. he can’t even go back to the madame anymore because aegon ruined that. he’s cornered and he’s lashing out.

and it’s such a fantastic parallel between him and his mommy, aw! 😂😅

My brain has been struggling to support Newsies brainrot and Batfam brainrot, and the result shouldn't surprise you.

Two words: Batfam Newsies AU.

I was struck with it halfway through watching a live production of the Broadway version (amazing), but it would probably be more based on the 1992 movie (childhood favorite, I know it better. As in I can quote it all to you.)

So hear me out- I think Jason as Jack Kelly. In 92sies, Jack Kelly is a fake name, so his real name revealed at the end can be ✨Jason Peter Todd✨! But like, grew up on the streets, no living family, watches out for the younger/newer kids, frustrated with the system. For him, I think, Santa Fe would be a lot more metaphorical, since I can't picture him wanting to leave Gotham, but Santa Fe (the song) just is Jason, you can't tell me otherwise.

Tim as Crutchy, and here's where more of the Broadway comes in, because I love their sibling dynamic in it, and it's a little less so in 92sies. Still there, but not as much. The live show I saw had a younger girl as Crutchy, and their dynamic was just amazingggg. Anyway. Maybe he ran away, maybe his parents died early, maybe they just ditched him, whatever. He does this now.

Dick as Davey, Damian as Les. Now their personalities don't match up quiiiite as well, but I think it could be done. If Dami's a little younger, perhaps. I'm thinking Dick got shuttled into the orphanage and met Dami, and bc it's still Gotham, the orphanage sucks and they're supposed to go make money or whatever. I dunno, that's the tricky bit.

We can keep Snyder, Medda (unless you wanted to put Selina there, but I don't really see it.) the Delanceys and Weasel, and the rest of the gang of newsies as is, unless anyone has suggestions for them. I'm all ears!

I'd go by the movie for this and have Clark Kent be Bryan Denton, the reporter, mostly because I can't really think of anyone to fit the role of Katherine, and definitely not someone I'd ship with Jason. Plus then, Pulitzer can be Lex Luthor and that's amazing to me lol.

And finally Bruce as Governor of New York Gotham, Teddy Roosevelt! I'd definitely have him play a larger role. You have Jason/Jack hitching a ride on his carriage from the Refuge, and then maybe trying to steal his tires or something later on, they talk, blah blah blah, strike stuff.

Of course, at the end of the strike and all, the brothers are closer than ever, and the nice old Governor is like "mine"
