Emmie... Emmie I literally turned around long enough to crank out an essay and go to bed and now you've killed the hero?? How did you find the time during finals???
it's easy! all you have to do is ignore the inescapable dread that is your upcoming finals and use tormenting the blorbos as a fun and free coping mechanism instead :))

July 2023 real life ---------
It’s been a rough few months in the house for the two of you. Christian’s time at Chelsea was most likely coming to an end, and you had just started a new project at work, so your time was filled with that. Nights spent making dinner and laughing together turned to plates left in the microwave and lights out early. Mornings started with short wake up kisses to hardly whispered goodbyes.
In fewer words, the relationship was falling apart. You barely knew what was going on in each others lives anymore, it’s no surprise when he tells you he’s leaving Chelsea.
Chris is still in Florida with his family, enjoying the last few days off before preseason. You had been with him for the 4th of July, but needed to fly back to London almost immediately for a new project and you’re exhausted. When he Facetimes you it’s almost 11:30 at night and your still sitting in your home office, but with how excited Chris is, he can’t tell that you’re operating on extremely low levels of energy. You want to be excited for him, but you can see the writing on the wall.
“Hey babe.” You know what’s coming, but it doesn’t make the shock any less. “I’ve got some big news.” He waits for you to say something, but all you do is blink and nod. “AC Milan are going to sign me.” He waits again for you to say something. “Did you hear me? I’m leaving Chelsea.”
“Yeah, I heard you.” Your lack of enthusiasm confuses Christian.
“Then why aren’t you excited?”
Your apathy turns to frustration quickly and you shift in the chair. “Because, Christian, I’m not just going to blow up my life in London to follow you to a new city. I’ve got a job here and it’s going well. I don’t want to have to start all over again. Not to mention learning a whole new language. Have you considered how isolating that would be for me?”
“So what, I just rot at Chelsea because you don’t want to move?” He is now just as defensive as you, words biting at the holes that have formed in your relationship, making them grow.
“I didn’t say that!” You sit up even straighter, putting your phone down against the computer so it stands on it’s own.
“Well it sounds like you don’t want to leave.”
“I don’t want to pack up my life and move to a new country where I don’t know anyone.”
You could see the fight leave his body as he came to the same realization you did. “What’s going to happen to us?”
“I think we’re done Chris.” You can feel your heart break that last little bit with the words you say. You love Christian, but with everything you’ve gone through, it’s not enough.

September 2023 real life ------
In one hand you held your phone, looking down at the details of your train back to London, in the other a hot chocolate to warm you up in the brisk wind of Oxford. It’s how you missed the body in front of you and ended up falling straight on your ass because of it, hot chocolate splashing onto your shirt.
“Fucking hell,” you whispered, pulling your shirt away from your body so it didn’t burn.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” said an American accent. You groaned in your head, not wanting to deal with this. “I should’ve been looking where I was going.” They put a hand in your face, gesturing to help you up, which you took.
“No, it was my fault, I was staring at my phone,” you told them as they pulled you up. He was strong, and also probably a little awkward as he was still holding your hand.
“Me too, so I really won’t let you take the blame.” His awkward smile was also cute, but you tried not to think that, it wouldn’t agree with your ‘no boys agenda.’ “Do you need another hot chocolate?” The cup was empty at your feet, making you wince.
“Yeah, probably another shirt too.” It’s at that point that he realizes he’s still holding your hand, and he drops it.
“Let me get you one.”
“Don’t worry about it.” You’re still very early for the train, but travel anxiety is terrible and you want to leave soon.
“I insist.” Something about his smile and red cheeks makes you say yes to him, and you’re really not sure why. “I’m Logan, by the way.” He’s leading you back into the line of the cafe, smiling at you still.
“I’m YN,” you tell him.

Your hotel room is kind of a mess, with clothes thrown around and various pieces of paper on the floor. It’s not really a surprise to Logan, even though he hasn’t known you very long.
After a long day exploring New York City in fairly okay weather, the two of you are relaxing in your hotel room before dinner. “Can I ask you something?” Logan asks. He’s currently sitting in the desk chair, feet propped up on the desk and head hung back.
“Go ahead.” You’re on your bed, laying like a starfish.
“Would you say yes to going on a date with me?” You sit up straight, staring at him with wide eyes as he doesn’t move.
“Are you asking me on a date?”
“No, I’m asking if you’d say yes to me asking you on a date.” His clarification makes you narrow your eyes, but he still doesn’t move.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea right now.”
That gets him moving, turning the chair to look at you. “So would you say yes or no?”
“I’d say no right now.”
“What about in a month?”
“In a month, when we’re both back in England, I’d probably say yes.”
“Cool,” he shrugs, going back to putting his feet on the desk. “Then I’ll ask you again in January.”

A Crime of Passion
Tumblr media
Pairing: Beau Arlen x F. Reader
Summary: When Beau Arlen decides to “make it up to you,” he’s damn thorough.
AN: I couldn't help myself lol. I wrote this last night. Here's a quick little drabble for the Take Me Home series, set directly after A Good Man Is Hard to Find!
Based on this request from @jessicalynnann.
Word Count: 550

You just…you couldn’t stop laughing.
“All right, you done?” Beau asked.
You never thought you’d see this man blush so thoroughly. It made you laugh harder, though you tried to stifle it with your hands covering your face.
He had you laid out beside him, still skin against naked skin as the cool air began to dry your dewy bodies.
You were lying against him in an odd position, considering your bed now had a deep crack in the bedframe that ran all the way down the middle. It meant your legs were bent at an angle, almost like you were laying in a recliner seat.
You just couldn’t believe it.
This man had really broken your bed.
In fact, he murdered it. Killed it dead. Though you supposed it was a crime of passion, in this case. (You held in a snort at the thought.)
There were even a couple of screws that had rolled across the tile floor.
“Again, I’m sorry, sweetheart. I promise I’ll pay for a new frame,” Beau said contritely.
The truth was, he was embarrassed beyond belief.
Another giggle escaped you, though you tried to soothe him by caressing his cheek.
“Baby, it’s okay. This thing was old. I’m surprised it survived the move all the way from Chicago, honestly,” you said. The twinkle of mischief in your eyes made his face warm further.
“But how damn lucky am I,” you added, your lips curving. “My man quite literally shatters expectations when he makes love to me.”
And despite the unexpected cracking sound that had left you wide-eyed, it had been a spectacular finish. Even now, you were still tingling between your legs from how hard you’d come on his cock. (Twice.)
You slipped your bare leg between both of his and pressed a sweet kiss to his chest.
Beau fought it, but he had to smile at your words, and your affection. He sunk a hand into your tangled hair, first brushing his thumb against your cheek.
“You sure you’re okay then?” he asked.
“I’m more than okay,” you said. He felt the shape of your smile against his skin. You pulled back to meet his eyes. “Better the bed than my back, anyway. Jesus.”
Beau let out a sigh. Another giggle bubbled over and escaped you. You rubbed his arm.
“Think of it this way,” you said. “Now we can go pick out a new bed together.”
Beau tilted his head at that, and he nodded. A smile grew across his face.
“Now there’s an idea,” he said. It was probably too soon for him to broach the topic of moving in with you, but this could be a good first step.
“Right?” you replied in excitement. But there was something else dancing in your eyes. “We’ll just have to make sure the frame’s reinforced with titanium or something, because goddamn.”
Beau couldn’t help but laugh. He dropped his forehead against your shoulder while his own shook. You held him to you and didn’t bother to try and hide your own amusement anymore.
One thing you knew for sure?
There was no way in hell you’d ever let him live this down.
And one thing he would never tell you…
Beau Arlen was damn proud of himself.
Tumblr media
AN: 😂 Well then. That was fun, and I hope you enjoy! ❤️
Keep Reading:
Here’s a one-shot set a couple of months after this one. It’s called S.I.N.G.:
Summary: Beau wishes you’d take this self-defense lesson a little more seriously.

the day/night we met ; henry cavill
Tumblr media
PAIRING — Henry Cavill x Reader (fem) SUMMARY — On your wedding day, your Maid of Honor prepares a special gift to which you and Henry have distinct responses. WORDS — 1,8k TW — nothing really just a lot of fluff, emotions (I cried a bit writing it), Henry in a suit 😈. A/N — Hi! I'm not dead, just quit the most toxic job ever so I'm getting back here lol Here's a short but very dear fic to me that I wrote last year but never posted. I'm so happy to finally post this! This story has been in my head for two years now and it came out better than I thought.
Song insp.: Eu Me Lembro by Clarice Falcão feat. Silva
— 𝕸𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖙
“ALRIGHT,” YOUR MAID OF HONOR smiles, carefully wiping her tears with a napkin. “After making you cry and potentially ruining some makeup,” The room laughs. “I’ve prepared something different to end this on a high note.”
This is one of the dearest moments of your life: your wedding. You’re marrying your soulmate. Your heart could burst with love and happiness whenever.
Everything’s perfect, from your dress to the lights of the venue. Henry – your newly proclaimed spouse – has an arm around you as you listen to your family and friends' speeches about you and your love.
You found it strange when your Maid of Honor wasn’t the first to speak, but it seems she has a reason for it. Immediately, you feel anxious, but in a good way.
“When these two told me they were getting married, I knew I wanted to do something special for them,” Your best friend starts. “I just didn’t know what, but I knew it had to be something remarkable, something for them to look back and have a good laugh,” She looks at the both of you with tears in her eyes, chuckling.
You also wipe tears off your eyes, smiling back at her, and Henry tightens his embrace around you.
“So I sat down with these two, separately, and started to ask a few questions,” She smiles and wiggles her eyebrows, which is an expression you know very well.
‘Oh my,’ You think. ‘What is she up to?’
“Things started to get really interesting from the start, and I decided to make a video out of it,” Your best friend winks at you. “Without further ado, enjoy it.”
With a pleasant smile, she sits down. The attention turns to the screens set around the venue.
You remember sitting with your Maid of Honor to chat about your relationship. You didn’t really understand why she wanted to do that. However, it always has been effortless talking about Henry, and you brushed it off as having something to do with the wedding.
You recall having a great time answering her questions – drinks might have been involved beforehand, but the whole process was surprisingly professional.
Your friend’s face pops up on the screen as she introduces herself. “In this little video, I wanted to talk about our lovely couple’s amazing and fun story, especially the day they met,” She explains. “Newlyweds, I love you very much, and I hope you like this little something I put together for you.”
She blows a kiss and waves. Then in fancy lettering, “A love story” is scribbled on the top-left corner of the screen, and “A story of love” on the bottom right corner. You wonder why both phrases – which convey the same thing – are on the video, but the thought quickly slips your mind when your smiling face appears on the screen.
“State your name and occupation, please,” Your friend prompts on the video, but she’s out of the shot.
You roll your eyes amusedly. “What’s this, a trial? I’m innocent, your honor!” You giggle, making everybody at the venue laugh.
You answer the question anyway, and your name also appears written on the video.
“For the purpose of… this, I’m the bride?” It sounds like a question, and you make a face, unsure of yourself.
She never explained what the video was for, in your defense.
Right after you, Henry appears. “I’m Henry, and I am the lucky groom,” He smiles brightly, looking as handsome as always.
“So, tell me, how did you meet Henry?” Your friend asks, and your smile is instant as you remember that exact day as if it was yesterday. “How did you meet Y/N?” She asks him in the next scene, and his reaction is the same.
“I was hosting a brunch,” You start, your eyes unfocused as the vivid memory plays in your mind. “And it was morning when Henry arrived.”
When he reapers, you can tell it’ll cut back and forth between you. “I was throwing a party, and she was the one that came around. I think it was three in the afternoon,” Henry replies, quite differently from you.
You scoff mockingly, looking at him by your side. He chuckles, brushing it off with a shoulder tic before you turn back to the screen.
“And I said: ‘Hi, come on in, make yourself at home,’ You know, something of the sorts,” You shrug off.
Your betrothed chuckles in the video, scratching his chin in thought. “I was the one that said hello, but she didn’t hear.”
His comment makes the venue erupt in laughter. You meet Henry’s loving gaze again and squeeze his hand, making him bring yours up to press a kiss on your knuckles.
If your shared story had different and entertaining versions until now, it’d just get better!
After being asked about first impressions of one another, he replies: “She thought I was hilarious,” He says with such confidence that is endearing.
In your turn, you laugh and cover your mouth as if what you are about to say it’s an embarrassing secret.
“Oh my god, he wouldn’t stop talking! Like a lot!” You emphasize. “And I pretended to laugh the entire time,” You say very sheepishly before throwing your head back in laughter again. “That’s terrible. I feel like I need to apologize,” You add after your fit.
“Oh, I just remembered something,” He suddenly announces, and his smile is wide as the memory toy around in his head. “Her blouse was inside out,” He chuckles, eyes focused on a spot. “She’s so adorable and such a goof, isn’t she?” He looks back at the camera.
“He loved the way I was dressed,” You giggle, visibly shivering as you physically remember the feeling of him truly looking at you for the first time.
Your friend asks another question, changing the subject slightly, but Henry shakes his head.
“Yeah, the party was great! Everybody was having a good time, but I only remember searching for her when she wasn’t near me. Trying to get another look, you know?” He says.
In turn, you scoff. “No one was dancing! I don’t remember who was taking care of the music, but it was terrible!” Your genuine response makes the room fills with laughter another time. “At least everyone had a drink in hand and ate something.”
“Oh, yes. The food was wonderful. Everything homemade,” Your partner assures with a proud nod naively.
“I bought everything off Tesco,” You rushedly confess, throwing your head back in laughter again.
Back to the present moment, you’re wiping the new tears from the corners of your eyes due to laughter. You love the good energy around the room as your guests and yourself enjoy the video your Maid of Honor made.
Now you understand both phases in the beginning, and although you and Henry have very distinct versions of the day you met, you love both of them and the feelings they bring you.
However, something changes in the next second of the video. For the first time, on a split-screen, you two appear together.
“When I saw him, I knew it (When I saw her, I knew it),” You both say simultaneously. “She (He) was the person I’d spend the rest of my life with,” You continue.
Glancing at him, you’re surprised to see he’s already looking at you. Then you exchange a knowing look. It seems like you got on the same page in this part of the video.
“And that’s how I realized that life put him (her) in my life,” You say in unison. “On that Tuesday (Thursday) of September (December),” Your responses overlap with each other, drawing amused reactions from people.
“That’s why I remember everything, of every second,” Both of you state, which is downright ironic at this point. “Ask me anything that I remember.”
“I remember,” You proudly declare with a grin but, this time, by yourself.
And so does Henry. “I remember,” He nods with a beam.
The video ends there, and the room erupts in applause, whistles, and hollered praises.
Words couldn’t describe the dazzling feelings you’re experiencing if you wanted to. You can’t be more grateful to your friend for this treat either. And, of course, the man you now get to call your husband.
The spotlight of attention returns to you as you’re exchanging the most enamored gaze ever. Henry leans in and presses his lips to your forehead, making you close your eyes. Slowly, you allow all those remarkable sensations to wash over you.
When you reopen your eyes, you smile at him before looking at your Maid of Honor. “Thank you so much for this extremely thoughtful gift. We both loved it a lot.”
Henry confirms with a head gesture.
“Words won’t do justice to how much you’re special to me. I’m just so grateful I get to share such a special and meaningful moment of my life, like this one, with you,” Your voice cracks at the end, and you smile, trying to hold your tears at bay as you can see she’s doing the same. “So I can’t thank you enough.”
As the room gets loud with another round of applause and cheers, she smiles, mouthing an “I love you too” to you. Wiping your tears carefully one more time, you chuckle.
“Although, I only have one question,” You announce, making the room pipe down. “Was my blouse really inside out?” You giggle as you look back at Henry.
Your husband starts to laugh. “Yeah,” He confirms bashfully. “Yeah, it was,” He nods as your guests join you in laughter.
“Oh, God. I can’t believe it,” You shake your head in embarrassment. “I also would like to point out that my husband clearly has a lot of experience with interviews,” You remark, addressing the room. “I feel kinda bad after saying I was pretending to laugh at his jokes when he’s all loving and caring,” You rejoin your friends and family in fun.
“I do tell bad jokes,” Henry concedes in your defense. “I love how genuine you are, and you’re loving and caring to me, too,” You nearly melt at his famous Hollywood-star smile.
The sound of ‘aww’s’ fills the room. “You see what I’m dealing with?” You joke, making everybody chuckle.
You give him a chaste but affectionate peck on the lips. Your wedding coordinator decides it’s time for the first dance to open the floor to make your guests burn some energy after the buffet.
And so, feeling the most secure and happy while pressed against your husband’s chest with his arms around you, you swing slowly. By sharing the same air, the same space, and the same feelings, you can’t think of anything better.
It all started on a Tuesday morning in September for you. But for him, it was a Thursday afternoon in December. Now, it is a Saturday evening in November that you’ll never forget.
You will remember. Everything. Of every second.

Rose Bowl, Baby! J. McCarthy
Tumblr media
JJ McCarthy x fem!reader
synopsis - JJ wins it all, and he has his girl right with him the whole time.
wc - 2k!
contains - THIS IS SOOOOOO CUTE AWWW, cursing, stressed!reader (ME TOO AS FUCK), fluff, kissinnnnnnn, hugginnnnn, cute shit, FUCK THE TIDE :D, um that's it! oh established relationship!
an - unedited lol sorry i just wrote this in like two hours! 😭JJ😭BABY😭WON😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I WAS SHOUTING AND SCREAMING AND I DANCED. especially because my mother, brother, and sister were all pulling for Bama to make me mad. LAUGHED IN THEIR FACES LMAOOOOO. i was on facetime with my man for like half the game since i am a umich student... WAIT DO U GUYS KNOW THAT....? i dont think ive told u guys that... SURPRISE!!!!!! anyway no one reads these anyway so. ENJOYYYYYYYYYYY :)))))))!
-
One minute and thirty eight seconds. One minute and thirty eight seconds, that's how long JJ and the Wolverine's offense had to score a touchdown. 2nd & Goal, four yards to go. You held JJ's mom's hand as you took deep breaths, desperately trying to calm down. JJ could do this, you knew it. You stared him down as he stood infront of Coach Harbaugh, Alabama had called the last time out of the game.
Michigan needed this score to take the game to overtime. JJ knew, you knew, everyone did. Once JJ clapped in the middle of the huddle, the offense started dispersing back into their spots on the field. Jay's eyes met yours, they had multiple times all night. He knew exactly where you sat, he'd made you text him your seat numbers before the game. You let go of his mom's hand and gestured your hands over your ears, headphones, you always told him. Just pretend it's just you and your guys. Block out everything else. He nodded at you, cracking a little smile before taking a deep breath and running out to the field, putting his helmet back on. His mom melted over the interaction, leaving you blushing.
You crossed your fingers and said a prayer, you'd prayed more than once tonight, you'd been praying about this games for weeks. You held his mom's hand in one of yours, and gripped your 'J' necklace in your other, bouncing on the balls of your feet. The play clock was running low, JJ clapped his hands, beckoning for the ball. It went straight to his hands, he looked around for maybe a second before passing precisely to Roman. He caught it, he had an open lane, he's in the end zone! Holy shit, he's in the end zone!
You jumped, screaming JJ's name, turning to hug his parents. You jumped up and down, a grin wide on your face as you cheered for your boy. His mom wrapped an arm around you as you watched him tearily.
The next Michigan drive was messy, and had you scared, but when the time ran out, you were jumping up and down, shouting and cheering, hugging everyone around.
"Our boy did it!"
You nodded, laughing as you wiped tears from your eyes. The game wasn't over, you knew that. JJ's eyes found yours again, he shook his head in disbelief with a grin, gesturing headphones to you. You nodded, fanning your face from the tears, but smiling so wide it didn't matter.
You sighed happily when you watched Alabama defer their OT possession, that's what JJ wanted, if the game went to overtime, he wanted to go first, it would put more pressure on The Crimson Tide to go second in the long run.
You held your necklace close to your mouth as you closed your eyes, letting out deep breaths. JJ had this, you knew it.
The offensive and defensive lines faced each other at the Alabama 25. JJ clapped, the ball was sent straight to his hands, he quickly handed the ball off the Blake, who scurried around the defenders, landing at the Alabama 17. 'Thank God for Blake Corum' you whispered to yourself.
You saw JJ hiding a smile behind his mouth guard, and you knew this was it. Jay claps, and the ball is snapped straight to him, the ball goes straight to Blake, who has a completely open lane.
"Go Blake, go!"
You screamed out, feeling Megan's hand grip yours. You held your intertwined hands up, watching Blake run. He was in the end zone, yes!
"Yes! JJ, yes!"
You screamed, jumping up and down you as watched your boy cheer. He did it! Thank God! You hugged everyone again, cheering some more when the kick went through the posts. The game still wasn't over, the defense still had to come out and play this game. You knew JJ wouldn't be able to assist his team anymore on the field, but you also knew he was now gonna be the biggest hype man for his defensive teammates.
You bit on your dark blue acrylic nails as you watched Alabama line up at the Michigan 25. You winced as the game went from 3rd & goal at the Michigan 14 to 4th & goal at the Michigan 3. One more play, make or break.
You saw Jalen Milroe clap for the ball, and run straight into the O-line of Michigan. Nothing! He got nothing! Oh my God, Michigan won! You watched JJ sprint onto the field as you screamed, jumping up and down for the third time. Your heart was beating out of your chest as you shouted, hugging Michigan fans you didn't know. Your smile couldn't have been punched off of your face.
The blue and maize confetti flew, you watched tearily as the Michigan guys flooded the field. You watched JJ grab his rose, talking to a reporter. His bright smile and gorgeous face was spread on every screen in the stadium. Your boy had done it, finally. You watched as your sweet boy accepted the Rose Bowl trophy with Blake, his smile never leaving his face.
You ran down the few rows to the bottom row of the bleachers, standing with other Michigan player families as the boys were dispersing back to the sideline, finding their loved ones. JJ, being the star quarterback he was, took a while longer to get over to you guys, but it didn't matter to you.
You two locked eyes, matching smiles on your faces as he ran over to your group. You let him talk to his parents and sisters first, before he moved over to you.
"Come'ere baby!"
You grinned as you leaned down over the barrier, JJ's hands grabbing at your waist to safely pull you closer, kissing you passionately. Your hands cupped his face, as you both smiled into the kiss. You pulled away, whispering to him with a big smile.
"You did it lovey!"
He nodded, his bright smile lighting up your heart.
"Can you just jump the barrier instead of going back through the halls?"
"S'that allowed?"
He looked around, quickly asking an employee of the stadium standing down against the barrier. The employee looked at JJ with wide eyes, nodding at the quarterback, though he probably didn't exactly have the position to answer him.
"See? You're fine, c'mon angel!"
You looked around, seeing one of the guy's little brother being passed over the barrier, then to Megan who shrugged with a smile, nodding for you to go ahead. You slide your phone in the pocket of your jeans, sitting on the barrier before turning around towards JJ, who held his hands on your waist.
"Can't believe I'm doin' this."
JJ laughed, pulling you down as you slightly jumped off the wall, down into his arms on the field. You quickly wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.
"I'm so proud of you, Jay. You are so talented, baby."
He pulled away from you, cupping your face with his hands, touching his forehead to yours.
"Just had to remember my headphones, like always."
You nodded, laughing and kissing him again, JJ leaned back, your feet leaving the ground for a few seconds as he kissed you. You both pulled away giggling. You got a random burst of energy, electricity pulsing through your veins.
"Ah! Oh my God, you won!"
You pulled away from JJ, grabbing his hands and jumping up and down. His smile widened, he was so, absolutely in love with you, but watching you support him so wholeheartedly, made his heart squeeze extra with love.
"Yeah! I got the Rose Bowl, baby!"
JJ's family came through the tunnel, having chose the safer route to get to the field. He hugged his family, talking with them and taking pictures. You took a few of them on your phone, smiling sadly at how cute they were.
"Angel! Come take a picture with me!"
You smiled, nodding as you went over to your smiley boyfriend. He took his winner's hat off and plopped it onto your head, it was sweaty, but you didn't care. You did one picture standing next to each other, his arm around your hips as you both smiled brightly. Then there was one where JJ kissed your cheek out of nowhere, then another taken the moment after where you both laughed as you wiped the eyeblack he spread to you off of your cheek.
They were adorable, objectively. Your group was soon exiting down the tunnel, bidding JJ goodbye with a quick kiss as he walked back towards the locker room.
Once you were all reunited with JJ he told you all he wanted to go back to the hotel and get food delivered to the hotel. That was your boy, even after the big win all he wanted to do was go back to his bed.
You got back to the hotel after a long car ride through Rose Bowl traffic, and quickly went up to your room. You and JJ were sharing, though he was technically supposed to be in his football assigned hotel room, he was crashing in yours. His parents knew, you two were trusted, and old enough to make your own decisions.
You showered as Jay laid in your bed, watching the Texas and Washington game. You came out of the bathroom in your pajamas, quickly crawling into bed next to JJ. He pulled you inbetween his legs, wrapping his arms around your middle. You were both tired, him more than you. You noticed the plastic bag sitting on the nightstand.
"What'd you get us to eat?"
You kissed him when he told you he got chicken tenders. You both watched the Sugar Bowl as you ate your dinner. You both got up to throw away your trash and brush your teeth before turning off all the lights and getting right back in bed. JJ watched the game as you laid on his chest, scrolling through your phone, showing him TikToks and Instagram posts of videos taken of you two from the game every little bit. You two were going viral among the teenage girls and fan pages.
When the game finished JJ turned off the TV, and you put your phone away as you two shifted so that JJ was laying with his head on your chest. You played with his sandy hair as you talked.
"I still can't believe all of it, it's just crazy."
"Well I can believe it, I knew you could do it. You know I was scared when we were getting close to the end of regulation, but then I saw you smile right before your last play of the regulation TD run, you know right before Roman got the touchdown, and I just knew it."
JJ looked up at you in the dark, he had hearts in his eyes. You were everything to him, just completely everything.
"I love you so much."
"I love you, baby. 'M so proud of you."

"Mate, I think you're overthinking this."
Blaise Zabini reported his opinion of the matter, but Draco Malfoy barely comprehended a word he had spoken. The only things on his mind were (Y/N) and of course, the bloody Yule Ball.
If he was honest with himself, Draco was at least partially excited for the dance. He knew it was meant to be one of the greatest nights he may ever experience while at Hogwarts, but he wasn't sure if he would. The dance was only a week away and somehow, Draco found himself without a date.
If anything, the Yule Ball was making him nervous.
"I'm not, Zabini!" He spoke quite loudly, then softened his voice as he realized students had looked their way. "This needs to be perfect, alright? This is (Y/N) we're talking about, you know how I feel about her."
Blaise couldn't help but sigh, with a smile on his lips as the two of them walked to their Defense Against the Dark Arts class. It was quite a feat for Malfoy to tell Blaise that he had romantic feelings for his best friend, (Y/N). Blaise knew that Draco dreaded being seen as anything but tough to the world, the fact that a girl had this much control over his emotions spoke volumes.
"Exactly my point, Malfoy. She's been your best friend since first year, I doubt she would ever be disappointed or angry with whatever you come up with. Besides, she's just a girl. Just ask her to the ball like how you would ask a girl out on a date."
"Er.. well.." Draco began to speak, the hand that wasn't holding his books scratching the back of his neck. The two of them finally stopped walking besides the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Blaise's eyes widening as he tried to hide his laughter.
"You're telling me that Draco Malfoy has never been on a date before? Merlin!" His laughter echoed down the chamber, earning him a scoff and a playful shove inside the classroom by Draco. "Sorry, sorry. I just thought that with every other girl in this school begging to be your date to the dance, you would've taken at least one of them on a date." His voice was spoken quietly, careful that the other students wouldn't hear their conversation.
Draco shook his head as the two of them sat down in their seats, pulling out their books and parchment. "No. I've turned them all down. They're just not her, know what I mean?"
"You're down bad, mate." Blaise smirked slightly to himself, whispering the only advice he could really offer his friend. "Listen, girls like being asked out in a personal way. You know the kind of things (Y/N) likes, all you have to do is make it special and she'll be swooning."
"Right." Draco mumbled to himself as Professor Moody began to teach his lesson. However, he certainly wasn't thinking about Defense Against the Dark Arts. Instead, Draco glanced over to where you sat across the room. He knew you better than anyone, yet he had no idea how to ask you to the Yule Ball.
That was when the idea struck him. The new bag you bought last week caught his eyes, he noticed the way the bag had intricate floral designs sewn into it. A memory replayed in Draco's mind. He couldn't help but smile to himself as he wrote on a spare piece of parchment, folding it into a paper crane before sending it your way.
Your hands caught the paper crane, grinning as you knew exactly who it was from. You tried to ignore the way your heart seemed to skip a beat each time you saw one fly towards you. On the piece of parchment, it read:
Meet me at the Astronomy Tower tomorrow morning before breakfast? - D.M.
You lifted his gaze to meet his awaiting gray eyes, your head nodding before turning back to the professor's lesson. Draco did the same, but his mind was already running through a mental checklist on all the supplies he had to get to make his idea come to life.
The next morning, you woke up wondering why in Godric's name you decided to meet up with Draco this early in the morning. The sun was just starting to rise outside the window, and none of your other roommates were even awake. You groaned as quietly as you could, practically tiptoeing around the dorm bedroom to avoid waking everyone else.
As you brushed your hair in the girls' lavatory, you felt the butterflies in your stomach begin to flutter around again. You cursed yourself under your breath as you tried your best to focus on your breathing.
Lately, being near Draco Malfoy has always made you more excited than you really ought to be. Of course, he was your best friend so you had always been excited. But now, even one glance at him caused a warmth to glow within your chest. The feeling was a foreign one.
As you walked through the castle towards the Astronomy Tower, that warm feeling in your chest arose again as you caught sight of him. He was pacing near the entrance door, mumbling as if he was rehearsing something. You cleared your throat as you walked towards him, Draco stopping in his tracks.
"(Y/N)." He spoke your name, his lips forming into a soft smile. "Thanks for meeting up with me, I know it's a bit early for you." His tone was playful, he knew you were not much of a morning person.
"About that, why so early in the morning, Malfoy?" You gently shoved his shoulder, he only laughed in response. He opened the Astronomy Tower door entrance, his hand indicating for you to step inside first.
"You will see."
You walked up the long set of stairs up the tower. You couldn't see the fact that Draco was a nervous wreck behind you, his hands having to wipe themselves on his slacks to remove the sweat from his palms. As much as you hated to wake up this early in the morning, you knew the views up from the tower would be gorgeous. Draco knew that the Astronomy Tower was, quite honestly, your favorite place to admire the landscape.
“Oh my..” Your body stopped in its tracks once the two of you reached the highest level of the tower. Your eyes couldn’t take in your surroundings fast enough it seemed.
It was as if every surface of the tower was covered in red roses. Somehow, someone must have placed hundreds of roses in vases, scattering them around almost every corner of the room. The light shining into the tower only amplified their beauty, it was as if each petal seemed to come alive as the sun continued to rise.
“D-Did you know these flowers were here?” You stuttered as you started to pace around the room slowly, your fingertips grazing upon almost every petal there was. Their beauty took your breath away.
“I did.” Draco bit his bottom slightly as he watched you, desperate to know your reaction. He couldn’t tell if you liked or hated them. “They’re for you, actually.”
Your eyes darted from the roses you were admiring to Draco, your body facing his. Although you were truly flattered, the idea of him doing all of this for you made your head spin with so many questions. You knew Draco Malfoy better than he may ever know himself, you had never seen him do anything this nice or extravagant for anyone before.
“You said a couple of weeks ago that you wish spring would come along so you can watch the flowers bloom again. Of course, it’s only December, as we can all see.” Draco answered your question, a slight chuckle falling from his lips as he pointed outside of the tower. More snowflakes began to fall, covering the castle with even more snow.
“So, I thought to bring the flowers to you. And I only assumed you liked roses, from your bag.” His eyes went from watching the snowflakes outside to your bag that was decorated with tiny red roses around it. Since when did Draco notice something so mundane, like a new tote bag?
“I just.. don’t know what to say.” Your voice came out as a whisper. Him decorating the entire Astronomy Tower with roses, just because you said you missed the spring and summer flowers, was entirely insane. You couldn’t come up with the words, so all you could do was step forward to hug him tightly.
Within an instant, you felt Draco’s arms wrap around your waist, his head resting in the crook of your neck. He closed his eyes, smiling softly to himself out of relief and joy. He was relieved and happy that you had liked the surprise, but he knew what he must do, even though it terrified him.
“That’s not the end of the surprise.” He said as he slowly pulled away from the hug. All of a sudden, it was as the boy became aware of every heightened emotion he was feeling. “But I must do this properly..”
Your eyebrows raised as you watched him turn around, picking up one of the red roses from their vases. If you weren’t convinced you were dreaming at the moment, you would have sworn you saw a small bit of sweat on Draco’s forehead as he looked towards you.
“I-er..” He took a step forward towards you, any closer and your bodies would have made contact. With a deep breath to calm himself, he handed the rose to you. “Would you want to go to the Yule Ball with me, as more than just a friend?”
Your lips slightly parted as you took the rose from him. You had slowly been falling for your best friend for the past four years, but you had convinced yourself that the Slytherin Prince would never fall for you. For four years, you had thought that he would never settle for you, when every other girl in this school begged for him just to look their way.
Once you realized you had failed to give an answer, you closed your mouth and smiled in his direction. “I would love to, Draco.” You responded, stepping forward once more to close the gap between you two. You pressed your lips softly to his cheek.
When you pulled away, you realized that Draco’s cheeks were slightly pink as his eyes widened. You couldn’t help but laugh slightly at the sight. Draco Malfoy was notorious for being the calm, collected one of the two of you. Seeing him as, essentially, a nervous wreck over you caused that warmth to be felt in your chest again.
“Who would have thought I could make Draco Malfoy this nervous?” You joked, attempting to calm his apparent nerves.
“Who said I was nervous?” He scoffed just as playfully, grabbing a few more roses to hand to you. You took them in your hands, smelling their pleasant aroma as you followed him back down the staircase.
“Malfoy, you were just as red as these roses.”

*materializes into existence*
Hey :D
You said you wanted to write for funzies, so I had a lil idea to share.
Intruloceit in the ever-classic "one is overworking, so the other two coax them into self-care and sleep" trope.
Just a thought.
Have fun :D
Okay, bet, here we go my dude I was actually just about to ask for prompts because Im in a writing mood out of nowhere-
For context, when I write I typically write with the head cannon that Janus has an extra six arms that are invisible to the eye. And with the head cannon that Remus has six tentacles that protrude from his back that he uses to climb around and stick to walls and fun stuff like that. (I also write that Virgil has eight spider legs that also protrude from his back but he's a side character in this one so don't worry about that lol)
WITH ALL OF THIS SAID I BRING TO YOU A FANFIC I WROTE TWO HOURS AT WORK JUST NOW, LOVINGLY ENTITLED:
Always~
It was another night...
Another long night.
But in Logan's defense it has to be. What with the mess of a calendar Thomas has going for the upcoming months SOMEONE has to organize and plan ahead. Roman was pushing him constantly to make new video content, Virgil was stressed about all the events rehearsals and music editing we had to do, Patton was stressed as always for the upcoming holidays.
And don't even get him started on the dark sides... Remus was constantly vying for attention due to Thomas' head being in the mess it was in. With Patton and Virgil on the fritz they made easy targets for his pranks, dreams and ploys on a near daily basis. And Janus- well surprisingly Janus had generally done nothing recently but try to keep Remus as in line as they can... but that didn't mean he wasnt planning something Logan would have to fix later.
Logan grabs the coffee off the side of his desk, pushing his glasses back up on the bridge of his nose before rubbing his temples a bit as he sips his coffee... Its a mess. Its always a mess, always a mess Logan has to manage or clean. Everyone always comes to him and interrupts his work with the issues. Patton complaining about fitting time in for Thomas to try cooking before Thanksgiving and Xmas. Virgil complaining about how many events are on the calendar and asking some can be crossed off or avoided. Roman huffing about us not being able to make new content for two weeks.
Constantly. Getting. On. His. Nerves.
Logan doesn't notice the coffee cup shaking in his grip until some spills over the rim and onto his hand, he winces sharply and puts the mug down with a lengthy sigh before snapping paper towels into existence to clean the desk up. He leans to drop the wadded paper towel into the trashcan and startles slightly at how off his body feels at the sudden movement. He drops it into the trasnchan and shifts back to sitting over the desk, waiting on his equilibrium to balance back out again... how may long nights of planning has it been...?
Only one or two right...? But when's the last time he- made an effort to sleep? Hes joined the sides for lunch and dinner each day, and yes their commentary about the bags under his eyes is annoying, but its not particularly out of the ordinary. Logan tends to focus work more in the night hours. It's the only time the mind palace is actually quiet. Save for Remus' midnight snack runs, Janus' late night baths and Virgils occasional insomniac tendency to need warm milk or tea before bed.
Logan glances at the clock on his monitor.
The ungodly hour of 1 am glares back at him. He rubs his eyes and checks again just to be sure... before waving it off.
It doesn't matter, he was nearly done anyway. He picks his coffee back up and sips it, realizing it wasn't quite as hot as he preferred, his thoughts had taken up too much time it seems. He sighs again annoyed before standing- ignoring the mild difficulty in doing so... and walking to his door, with the intent to make a new pot of coffee.
He heads to the kitchen, again a bit startled by how weak he feels in doing so. But he will rest soon enough, he just has to finish up the hourly scheduling of each day for the next three months. Simple.
He stares blankly at the coffee maker, before taking his mug to the sink to rinse and clean out before the pot is done. With the water running its impossible to hear Janus slink slyly into the kitchen behind him.
"Late night~?"
Logan jumps- nearly dropping the ceramic mug into the sink at the sudden voice in his ear, glasses falling askew as he curses under his breath that he's now having difficulty catching.
"Last I checked coffee wasn't the best thing to help one sleep, but I am a liar so what do I know~"
Logan breathes out, setting the clean cup to the side and turning the water off before rounding to make eye contact with the snake.
"Yes well unlike some of you, I have important work to do, so if you don't mind."
Logan moves to step past Janus but is stopped by one of his annoying invisible arms barred in front of him.
"More important than you?"
Janus' voice drops its teasing lilt with the question, which startles Logan mildly.
"Pardon?"
He asks, a bit confused by the question.
"I asked if the work you were doing was more important than you."
Logans confusion must be even more apparent by the clarification because Janus takes it as a cue to continue.
"You're not taking care of yourself. That much is apparent, your appetite has been getting smaller each meal. The bags under your eyes are much larger day by day. You've been getting quieter at gatherings, which is typically an indicator that you're more irritable and don't want to snip at anyone, or that you don't want to be caught or teased for yawning. Also this coffee machine has logged fourteen hours of use in the last week, and no one else here drinks coffee but Patton, who has one cup each morning, with more sugar then coffee. So try to tell me that you're taking care of yourself, I dare you."
Janus waits, watching Logans reaction carefully, surprise gently easing into his eyes whilst his face stays generally blank. Janus can tell he's caught the wise side off guard, two invisible hands reach past Logan to pick up and dry his coffee mug, before placing it on the kitchen island behind their back. Logan seems at a loss for words, so Janus shifts the arm barring his escape away from the nerd.
"Why don't you head back to your room~ and go change for me. Ill bring you some tea in a few minutes or so."
This time Logan seems to wake from his confusion a bit.
"I can't- I have work to finish."
Logan hates how weak the excuse sounds on his tongue. He knows the sides notice when he is working harder then usual... but typically they all leave him be. The light sides do anyway...
"You're finished working for today. Back to your room." Janus' tone is soft, perhaps softer then he's ever heard it... It feels safe. Comforting for some reason. Just the cadence of his voice makes his eyelids a bit heavier... he nods numbly a little... and slowly starts his walk back to his room, caught in a bit of a daze as he moves down the hall... entering his room- He stops... in the threshold staring puzzled at the state of his room.
It looks nice... his room had been a bit too messy for his liking recently... The bed is made up, his starlight is on, its a projector that mimics the stars patters on his walls. Not only that but his desk is both tidy and his computer is off. His eyebrows pinch in confusion... he could have sworn when he went to the kitchen he left it o-
"POOPY!!"
Logan jumps once more with a rather embarrassing 'eep' noise this time as Remus jumps down from the ceiling and lands in front of him.
"Aweeeeee that was adorablleeeeee do it again!!"
Logan blushes with embarrassment and pushes past the obnoxious side to further himself into the room.
"No I will not be doing it again. You know that no one is allowed in my room with permission Remus. Get out immediately, I need to change."
Remus swings over with a sharp grin and wiggles his eyebrows as he descends the ceiling again dropping in front of Logan as he ruffles the smart sides hair.
"Well now I wanna stay even more~"
He teases with a fiendish grin, tentacles wriggling from his back excitedly at the prospect of seeing Logan change. Logan weirdly finds himself stuck on the fact that Remus ruffled his hair- and he didn't hate it... Logan rolls his eyes irritably, snapping from his stupor and shifts to his closet past the Duke, who stays annoyingly close to him the whole time.
"Do you actually need something? Or are you just here to annoy me now."
Logan grumps, grabbing his clothes from the closet and moving to his bathroom to avoid the dukes prying eyes. Remus attempts to follow into the bathroom, but Logan shuts the door in his face before he can, getting dressed in peace.
"Im here to make sure you're listening to Jannyyyy, because you like to overwork and overwhelm yourself until you can't function anymore."
Logan sighs deeply, lovely he has a babysitter.
"Mm, and who told you that."
Logan asks, knowing who but not wanting to let the duke go silent. Its always scarier when you can't here where Remus' voice is coming from. That's when he gets the element of surprise on you for a jump scare.
"Double Dick Deceit did of course~" Logan cringes as he buttons up his silk pajamas... gross. Though anomalistically accurate, snakes do in face hack two dicks... as gross as it is to know Janus is the same it is interesting that his anatomy is accurate to a- wait focus. Logan freezes slightly, listening for Remus- shit.
"SHIT ON A DICK!"
Remus emerges from the toilet and Logan finds the same annoying noise escapes him as Remus startles him once more. He exhales sharply in frustration as the duke giggles giddily at the sound from Logan. The intelligent side tosses his clothes irritably at Remus' face as he opens the door to leave the bathroom.
"Go back into the sewage where you belong Duke, I don't need a babysitter. I can follow instructions just like anyone else."
He grumbles, making his way back to his laptop, that is before Remus drops down between him and his desk, dripping in... what Logan hopes is clean toilet water.
"No can do~ I was told to stay with you until Snakey gets back!"
Logan can't help but notice how childish Remus is acting. In comparison to his onscreen behavior, or his behavior with the other sides he's being rather... Puppyish.
"Mmm-hmm... Is there a reason you're acting- different?"
Logan asks, apprehensively. Honestly not sure if he wants the answer... perhaps Remus was attempting to lull him into a false sense of security? Or trick him in some way shape or form...? Logan wasn't exactly sure what to expect as Remus' response to the question but what Logan doesn't expect, is Remus' cheeks to pinken and him to look away. Before Logan can inquire further there are two soft knocks on the open doorway, swaying his attention. He turns around to see Janus walking in, tea floating beside him and a container of sugar floating beside it.
"Am I interrupting something~?"
Janus asks playfully, Logan huffs slightly at the notation, missing the way Remus blushes further before ducking back into the bathroom to dry off.
"No. Your babysitter was simply doing his job."
Janus seems amused by the characterization of Remus as he makes his way to bed, patting beside him for Logan to take a seat as well.
"Yesss well, I couldn't exactly trust you not to go back to your work the moment I left now could I."
Logan scoffs a bit amused himself now.
"Trust is a rich word coming from you, Deceit."
Janus hums with a smirk gently shifting an invisible hand to Logans back after he sits down. Janus' smirk softens a bit fonder as Logan falters mildly at the touch, a clear immediate disconnect between his thoughts at the gentle brush of fingers up and down his back. Logans posture starts to slump just barely, before he tries to righten it again, his eyes dipping down a bit as his head tilts forward. A gloved hand catches his chin, brushing under it fondly with a gentle hum as he lifts the logical sides sleepy gaze to his.
"It is isn't it~"
Deceit purrs in response, watching silently as the light side practically crumples at the light positive attention. Though something about the ease of it begins to bother him. Well, rather, has always bothered him. Logans reaction to soft touch, and affirmation is always a drastic one. It's nearly as if he rarely gets affection.
Janus knows that Patton is a touchy person, that much is clear with the cuddles he gives Virgil and the constant hugs and kisses he gives roman. Shamelessly in front of everyone else at that... but strangely enough, since Remus and Janus have been here or perhaps earlier then that, no such soft touch is offered to Logan. Janus had first assumed that it was in private, seeing as Logan was a rather private person and likely didn't want others to see when he was receiving attention. But after some time, something compelled Janus to inquire to Virgil about it.
Virgils response was simple, "Logan doesn't like touch. He makes it clear no one is to be in his personal space or in his room so- why would he be okay with touch...?" And while Virgils response wasn't a mean one or said in a rough way Janus felt wounded by it. Because if this was the case, then Logan has likely been touch starved since entering his existence in the mind palace at all.
A purred hum in front of him snaps Janus from his thoughts... finding that Logan is nearly entirely slumped over in his grasp now. A puddle in his hands... his eyes blissfully shut and his worry lines for once uncreased. Janus chuckles softly before gently shifting Logans head back up, his eyes blink open wearily the soft open ness of them catching the deceitful side off guard. Janus blushes mildly before swallowing it back down and using his multiple arms to adjust Logan into a sitting position against the headboard of the bed. Remus peeks out of the bathroom behind where Logan is sitting now, and beckons Janus quickly. Janus carefully picks up the tea, now cooled a bit more before handing it to Logan.
"Here, sip it carefully, Ill be back in just a moment."
Janus' heart twists at the immediate drop in Logans eyes as he pulls his hand away from bushing over him. The sleepy side obediently sipping at his tea with downcast eyes. Janus heads quickly to join Remus in the restroom, he immediately is met with pleading puppy eyes though and instantly knows he can't fight them.
"Pleaseeee- can we please stay ??? Please he's too tired to remember- and we can be out by morning before he wakes up- I won't do anything sexual I promise!! I just wanna cuddle the nerddd- he looked like a lost little rat when I ruffled his hairrrr-"
Janus hisses quietly with a finger to his mouth, ordering Remus to quiet down some... before sighing softly... mmm. If they stay, there's a chance Logans lack of memory will make him more untrusting of them... If he wakes and they were not only in his room but cuddling him in his bed... he is going to think he was seduced in his sleep and never trust us again. Not that he does currently. But.. Janus' head kept going back to that look. The one in his eyes when he pulled away. A lump forms in Janus' throat and looking into Remus pleading eyes again he knew he couldn't rationalize a way out of this one. Angry at them or not... Logan needed it. He needed the positive attention... more than he knew. Remus could read Janus' expression before the snake could even utter the words of defeat. The octopus lighting up excitedly and buzzing with energy as he was about to bound back into the room. Janus' hand shot out to close line the side before laying down rules.
"No. Sexual advances. No jokes about it in the morning. No secreting slime in your sleep. And absolutely NO loud noises. Anything like that may scare him away and ensure he never trusts us again. Meaning we won't be allowed in his room, nor anywhere near him. Ever. Again."
Remus huffs a little and pouts some...
"Well all that sounds a little over the top dramatic- but as long as we get to cuddle the nerd- I don't care- ill be a good little bitch boy~"
Janus can't stop the small excited smile from spreading on his face, letting his arm down for Remus to reenter the room, surpassingly already following the quiet rule. Janus closes the door to the bathroom and eases into the room behind Remus, Remus goes to the bedroom door and closes it carefully, while Janus makes his way back to Logans side on the bed. The logical side is staring dazedly at the stars on the wall in front of him, sipping at the last bit of the tea in the cup by the time they reenter the room.
Remus moves to the opposite side of the bed and scoots under the covers, Janus shoots him a glare and he stops there, not getting too close to Logan just yet. They don't want to scare him. Surprisingly he doesn't seem to notice, Logan looks completely dazed as he finally manages to fix his eyes on Janus, Janus notices the way those dark grey eyes light ever so slightly at seeing the half snake side again. Janus blushes slightly and takes the cup from Logan as he finishes the tea... Janus shifts Logan carefully with his arms down into the bed, laying down now rather then sitting, and carefully removes the sides glasses for him.
"I hope you don't mind, but Remus and I are going to stay to ensure you rest well. Were not here to babysit, just here to ensure you don't wake up at four am and convince yourself that two hours of sleep is enough."
Janus teases with a playful smile, Logan chuckles a bit, clearly more then a little delirious now that his body is giving out on him. Janus brushes a hand through the sides hair, watching as his pretty eyes nearly immediately fall half open and crossed. Janus finds himself chuckling lightly, before shifting Logan more center on the bed, and nodding at Remus. The green side immediately wraps Logan up in his thick arms, pressing him into the warmth of his body while Janus arranges himself on Logans other side, slipping an arm under Logans neck and draping his other arms over Logans body to gently brush over it. Invisible fingers gently tracing at his neck, chest, hair, down his arms and over his face.
The sleep starved side sinks into the sheets, clearly comforted by the warmth of the two other bodies present. His own hands fumble slightly, looking to find one of Janus' succeeding eventually whilst his other hand comes to rest gently on Remus' arm around him. Only then does he seem comfortable enough to fall asleep. Remus preens at the fact that Logan touched him on purpose and Janus smiles at the joy in the sides gaze. Then, breaking the tranquil silence is a voice, muddled with sleep and fatigue... but also an overwhelming amount of desperation, rarely heard in the sides voice.
"Are you going to stay...?"
Both Remus and Janus are taken aback by that... glancing at each other before down at Logan. His eyes still closed... expression still peaceful... one could think he didn't say a word. Remus leans down first... kissing Logans hair.
"Yeah pocket protector... we're not going anywhere." Then Logan does something the other two have never seen directed towards them... rarely even towards the other sides.
He smiles...
Soft...
Genuine...
Calm...
And completely relieved.
"Goodnight..."
He murmurs afterward... actually seeming to slip off to sleep this time. Janus watches him carefully, before sighing softly... smiling before kissing the sides forehead...
"Sleep well... we will be right here. Always..."
They knew he wouldn't remember this when he awoke. But they didn't mind. If they had to keep reminding Logan they loved him they would.
Always~

Tumblr media
It’s not horrendous.
Donghyuck stares at the cake in front of him. The process started well: he made the tester cake last week week that the council (also known as his friends) approved with generous support (“wait, what’s actually kind of good,” from Jeno, “it’s edible,” from Renjun, “the hint of orange really sells it,” from Jaemin, “it’s not burnt so it’s already better than anything I could make,” from Mark, “you didn’t buy this?” from Chenle, and Jisung, who just stared at him with wide eyes).
No, the problem isn’t the batter. He slaved over it all last night and chose the two cakes that rose most evenly in the oven. Everything but his tears went into making them.
“Wow,” Renjun says, leaning over the counter. “You fucked up.”
Donghyuck smacks him, leaving a trail of lavender buttercream on the wool sweater.
“Hey, that’s going to be a bitch to get out!” Renjun cries.
“Cry me a river,” Donghyuck says, “which is a good song, but also, you deserve it. It’s not that bad.”
Renjun raises his eyebrows but Donghyuck raises a spoonful of extra frosting. Renjun backs off.
Despite his strong defense, Donghyuck fears Renjun may be right. Though the cake stands tall, crumbs mix in with the frosting on the sides. What was supposed to be an artistically plump edging around the base of the cake and around the top corner looks like it exploded out of the piping bag (because it did, popping the cap off several times). In his head, the center would be filled with flowers and hearts and all sorts of pretty shapes in all sorts of pastel colors—but by the time he got to the center, he’d fully given up on piping bags, meaning he had to get creative for the flowers. Instead of flowers, he made blobs of frosting pushed off a spoon. In some spots he accidentally mixed the colors together, a green one shade away from brown, not at all like the field in the pictures on his Pinterest board.
Jeno appears next, wandering out of his room. He misses Renjun’s warning glare, though Donghyuck doesn’t. He steps right next to Donghyuck, tilting his head. “What is this supposed to be again?”
“What do you think?” Donghyuck asks evenly.
Oblivious or uncaring, Jeno pauses to ponder. “A really ugly version of Shrek’s swamp?”
“Get out.”
“Get out of ma’ swamp!” Jeno attempts a Scottish accent, authenticity as questionable as the flower field in Donghyuck’s cake. Jeno retreats with Renjun on the couch, dodging Donghyuck’s frosting spoon. It would be a waste of the delicacy on his stupid dri-fit t-shirt, which he wears even when he doesn’t work out.
“It’ll be fine,” Jaemin says. “It’ll taste good, which is the important part.” He sits at the counter, the only one to offer moral support while Donghyuck decorated. But his attempts at comfort are in vain; Donghyuck doesn’t just want the cake to taste good, he wants it to taste perfect, to look perfect, for all of it to be perfect. It’s the least you deserve.
Donghyuck ignores the banging on his door, letting one of the guys let Chenle and Jisung in (no one else would threaten to break down a metal door instead of waiting the five seconds it takes to unlock the door).
“We come bearing food!” Chenle shouts, plastic bag singing in his hand as Jisung follows precariously carrying a stack of pizza boxes. Far more food than needed, but Donghyuck won’t skimp out on you. Chenle tosses his bag full of snacks on the table, crossing the room to see the ‘masterpiece’ Donghyuck spent the past week hyping up.
“Dude, are you seriously going to give that to YN?”
“Are you trying to get dumped?” Jisung asks. “Ow!” he cries when Chenle smacks him.
“Your welcome,” he says, “though he sort of has a point, that looks like literal shit.”
“Does it really?” Donghyuck pouts.
Chenle points at one of the browner spots. “You’re telling me that’s not a piece of shit?”
“They were supposed to be flowers.”
Jaemin, Renjun, and Jisung manage to cover their laughs as coughs but Chenle and Jeno let out a bark of laughter.
“Yeah, you’re screwed,” Chenle says, clapping him on his shoulder that sags even lower than his normal bad posture. “You could call Mark and get him to pick up a cake on his way.”
“He’s bringing YN,” Donghyuck says glumly. “Besides, I already told YN that I would make it myself. I’m not going to be a failure and a liar.”
“It’s really not that bad,” Jaemin says, ignoring the chorus of dissent from the rest of the guys. “It’ll taste good!”
Donghyuck shrugs. He can’t explain it, at least not so that they can understand him. He knows perfection is a subjective definition that he’ll never be able to fulfill but he strives for it anyway. If it isn’t perfect then why would he do it at all? Even if it’s his first time attempting this level of artwork, he should at least be able to make something that looks okay, or recognizable.
And you—you deserve more than a dry store-bought mess and more than a half-assed attempt at love. You’ve only been together for a couple months but he’s determined to prove himself. A birthday was the perfect opportunity, even when you’ve known him for years and spent plenty of birthdays with him. This was his chance to show you the boyfriend material he’s made of, except instead of black velvet or creamy silk, Donghyuck thinks this cake is the work of a neon yellow polyester shirt worth less than $2 at the thrift store.
“Mark just texted that he just parked,” Jaemin announces. He glances at Donghyuck. “You ready?”
Donghyuck glances at himself. His hands are covered in frosting that’s dried and crusted, spread up his arms. His Kiss the Chef apron protected his shirt and most of his pants from the damage, but the mess is the least of his concerns. There’s nothing he can do about the disaster (he’s given up calling it anything else) in front of him. Shrek’s Swamp or a toilet bowl, it’s definitely not a flower field and it’s definitely not what you deserve. But it’s all he’s got.
The final punch hits with a gentle knock at the door. Donghyuck crosses the room to his doom, stepping past his silent friends who bow their heads in respect for the walking dead. He pulls open the door slowly. He sees your shoes first, white sneakers you spent three hours with a Sharpie decorating, full of hearts and stars and unmistakable flowers—daisies and chrysanthemums and lavender, more than he can name.
You wear your favorite jeans, loose bootcut that tighten at the thighs, hugging you in all the right places. A loose shirt hangs from your shoulders, one of the bands you always play for him with lots of bass and visceral lyrics that romanticize suffering. A family of silver earrings dangle from your ears, and he recognizes each of your favorites, the miniature swords, sparkling star shaped studs, a curly twist of metal that wraps around the higher part of ear. You look perfect.
Donghyuck has always loved the way you smile, a gentle turn of your lips, like the happiness belongs to only you. You lean forward, pressing a short kiss to his lips, a peck more than anything. Donghyuck stares at you, eyes wide. You gesture to his apron. “Just following the rules.”
He smiles though it fades as soon as he sees the frosting–no, the evidence of his failures, spread down the black fabric. “Happy birthday,” he says, wishing he could put more heart into it. A tiny frown furrows in your brow but you don’t question him.
He steps back to let you walk in, trailing behind you as the rest of the guys wish you happy birthday. Mark catches up easily, clapping a hand on his shoulder, whispering, “Jeno sent me a picture.”
Renjun hugs you, which Donghyuck belatedly realizes he never did.
“I brought the food,” Chenle announces. “Don’t go thanking anyone else for my efforts.”
“Our,” Jisung corrects. “You barely even carried anything.”
“That’s because I had to drive,” Chenle says, waving his hand. “And don’t even get me started on the pizzeria, you better appreciate every molecule because—”
“Thank you, Chenle,” you say.
“Thank me,” Donghyuck says. “It was my detailed instructions that perfected absolutely everything about today, which reminds me, did Mark behave?”
You turn back to face him, linking your fingers with his. “Yes, babe, he followed your script. He almost cried because the barista messed up the order and he didn’t want to be annoying but he said you said ‘if anything goes wrong, I’ll kill you,’ and meant it.”
“And I did,” Donghyuck says. He nods at his best friend for his service.
“Now.” You squeeze his fingertips. “Where’s this cake you’ve been so excited about.”
Donghyuck doesn’t try to hide his face. There’s no use delaying the inevitable. He lets go of your hands, leading you to the crime scene to lay the final verdict (the judicial system of his brain is in need of some reformation).
You reach the counter and freeze. A list of concert dates greets Donghyuck, your back facing him while you study the cake. There’s no name for the opposite of a masterpiece, no artist that wants their worst creation recorded in history.
He inches closer to you, peeking at your face. He recognizes the expression, the narrowing of your eyes, the way you flatten your lips. He’s been to enough art shows and spent enough time with you studying for art history to know what you analyze art.
“It’s not Van Gogh or Monet,” he says, “it’s not even that asshole guy who made the Bean.”
“Mm,” you hum, “no, you’re not any of them.”
“It’s an ugly cake,” he says, “I know. I tried, I really did, but apparently you actually do need a decade or two of experience to make a decent cake, which is totally unfair, like, I spent more time on it than my research project, and this only looks marginally better than that.”
“It’s amazing,” you say, “reminiscent of the expressionist era.”
“Really?”
“No,” you say, turning to grin at him. “But you made it, so none of that matters. Maybe it doesn’t look like what you thought, but seriously.”  You rest a hand on his arm. “It’s perfect.”
He meets your eyes, sees sincerity and not an ounce of teasing. No, it wasn’t what he wanted for you, but that doesn’t really matter. Perfection is subjective and to you it’s perfect—why did he ever think it wouldn’t be?
He grins. “Perfect?”
You step closer to him, wrapping your arms around his waist and pulling him into a hug, ignoring the frosting that must be smearing across the band member’s faces.
“Perfect.”

❧ In This Chapter: With the threat of Negan and the Saviors' imminent return heavy on your mind, you find solace in one last excursion outside the castle walls, with your knight. A chance discovery, and the knowledge that this may be your last moment alone with him, leads you to the logical conclusion of your longing.
❧ A/N: Babe, wake up. The knight and the princess are about to boink. Btw I wrote most of this while I’m on my period so that might explain a lot.
Tumblr media
The night before last had haunted you, tormented you, until you saw Sir Negan’s arrogant face in every shadow in your bedroom, every darkened corner of the castle, and even every forlorn hollow amongst the foliage in the courtyard where you took your afternoon strolls.
Your own home became a house of horrors, and now, you could not stand to be there another minute.
Before that night, the castle was only a place of sadness for you, but now, it was a looming threat, with each rising and setting of the sun marking another day closer to the day he would come back. You couldn’t even bear to speak his name, so you didn’t. You couldn’t, as though somehow even using your voice to acknowledge his existence was giving him more power. And yet, it was impossible to avoid the plague of unease that the man had infected you with.
Afterall, your situation was dire, no matter what transpired in the coming days leading up to his return. If your father decided to appease Negan, the best option for the survival of the kingdom, it would mean you’d be given to him willingly, taken to the Sanctuary to be his wife. If your father refused to give you to him, you’d be taken by force, and there was no way that Alexandria’s now weakened defenses could fight the Saviors from taking you―they were going to take you, no matter what. There was no outcome that would be in your favor. You were going to be Negan’s now, and you had to accept it.
But you didn’t.
Late last night, the king had left Alexandria in the hopes of making alliances with neighboring kingdoms against the Saviors in a last ditch effort to fight them. It was a noble pursuit, but worthless. Even with the help of the other provinces, the Saviors had weakened those kingdoms as well. Their armories were ransacked, and their numbers were increasingly dwindling. Still, you took advantage of your father’s absence―for one last excursion outside the walls before you’d surely be ripped away from your home in a matter of days.
It was the easiest breakout yet, given the lack of guards roaming the corridors of the castle. The journey through the tunnel was quiet, none of the usual talk of knighthood or herbalism or the knight’s stories of his adventures in exotic, faraway lands. It wasn’t until the meadow when you asked Sir Daryl to treat this day just the same as the others―as if nothing had changed, and this wasn’t your last journey with him.
And so, the knight being simply unable to refuse your wishes, he buried his sorrows to speak of things that pleased you, and you continued regaling him with quotes from your favorite tales and poems, all of which he listened to attentively, pulling Phantom’s reins as you both approached the familiar little cottage, its new outer walls now the first thing you saw.
It was only recently that Sir Daryl had commissioned a mason to build the protective border round the little house, an additional safety precaution to keep the walkers out, he said. Sometimes, you wondered if he’d had that built just for you to be safe, but perhaps that was a self-centered thought. The notion still produced a fluttering feeling in your abdomen, one that you became accustomed to since you first felt them with him. It was the most pleasant feeling you’d ever had, and no matter how you experimented to see if any other source of happiness could replicate that feeling, you always failed.
The sun was setting now, the usual ending to the usual day out, only now, the knight had offered to prepare you a real supper, not just the usual loaves of bread and rosemary butter. This eve, he was set on something special―venison he’d hunted himself just days prior, accompanied by vegetables you’d collected from the cottage garden, many of which you’d never even tried before. “Peasants’ grub” the nobles called them, but they were simple potatoes, onions, cabbages, leeks, carrots… Everything you’d need for a good stew.
But Daryl would not let you lift a finger, relegating you to sitting upon one of the straw-filled pillows strewn about on the floor, just a handful of feet from the warm lit hearth, where Daryl stood laboring over a steaming pot.
“Are you sure you do not need any help?” you peeped, though you and he both knew that you had less skill in cooking than him. In fact, you’d never even cut a vegetable before today. That was simply not your responsibility.
He looked at you through curling smoke, his eyebrow raised at the notion. “Told ya I’d do it. Isn’t much left to do, anyway… Just gotta let it cook a bit more.”
With your posture as straight and perfect as ever, you nodded and wrapped the blanket he always gave you tighter around your body. At this point, it smelled distinctly of your sweet perfume. “Thank you again, Daryl. I know… I know this is not the most ideal time to leave the castle, but I could not stand to be there another second. I swear I can still smell that man’s stench.”
Daryl swallowed hard before clearing his throat, disturbed by the very thought of him, the man who he knew he could not stop from taking you, but he’d do anything in his power to prevent it from happening.
He’d thought of many things, in fact. He hadn’t slept in two nights, the time spent instead thinking of ways to stop Negan, but they all had their weaknesses. Of course, his first thought was to hide you, to take you away from the castle and keep you somewhere else, but that wouldn’t stop the Saviors from pillaging Alexandria, from killing more people. The one thing keeping Negan from destroying the kingdom was you, and even then, it was still uncertain.
And killing Negan and enough of the Saviors to render them powerless was next to impossible. Alexandria was a small kingdom anyway, and now it had dwindled down to almost the size of a large village, with hardly any defenses or military-trained citizens to even stand a chance against an army of the Saviors’ size. The situation was hopeless, and he hated that all he could do was wait.
“But it’s nice to be here,” you said. “I like it here… With you.”
He met your sweet smile with a boyishly lopsided one. The man was quite a bit older than you, but he had a youthfulness about him you couldn’t quite place. Perhaps it was in his eyes, which glimmered just as brightly as you’d imagined they had when he was closer to your own age. His face was weathered, but mostly, he was very handsome to you, with a softness to his features that mesmerized you at times.
Particularly, you’d developed a fascination with his lips, the way they moved. He had a habit of folding in his lower lip and chewing on it, especially when deep in thought. Sometimes he’d purse them to the side when he was frustrated, or the top lip would snarl a bit when he killed a walker. You’d become attuned to the patterns of his smiles, grins, and smirks. Your favorites were the ones like this, uneven and slightly bashful, as though you’d said something that flattered him.
You’d been flattering him a lot more lately, you realized. Perhaps your attraction to him was becoming more and more difficult to hide. Strangely, you did not feel the usual urge to combat it. Maybe it was the particular kind of heat from the hearth that evening or the way his hair was pinned behind his ears to keep it out of his way as he cooked, but the fluttery feeling in your abdomen was more persistent than usual, more continuous. At some point, you knew it would be impossible to hold back, but you had to.
“I like being with you, too,” he replied, sprinkling some freshly ground herbs into the cast iron pot. “I wish I could…” He trailed off, stopping his train of thought before he spoke improperly in front of you.
“Could what?”
Gut Negan ‘fore he lays another finger on you. “Nothin’.”
You huffed in amusement at his shyness. “Keeping secrets from your princess,” you teased with a wiggling brow and a squint of faux offense. “That is not very knightly behavior, sir.”
My princess, he thought. Mine.
He shook his head with a huff, ridding himself of his intrusive thoughts. “Wish I could… do somethin’ for you, s’all.”
“Oh, Daryl,” you said. “You’ve already done so much for me. There’s nothing you could do… It is in my father’s hands. Well, it is in Negan’s hands, really.”
“But it shouldn’t be like that.”
“No, it shouldn’t, but it’s how it is, no matter what. Even if Sir Negan had no interest in me, my father would expect me to marry a noble, or a prince or king from some other kingdom. He’s a good father, but he is still a king. Really, I am quite lucky he has not married me off yet. Many princesses marry men they do not love. My mother, her marriage to my father was arranged. Somehow, it worked. They grew to love each other very much. I do not believe I could ever love Sir Negan, though… Not ever. He is evil.”
I won’t let him take you, he wanted to say, but he knew that would be an empty promise. Tonight, for all he knew, could’ve been one of the last nights he’d ever see you again. One thing was certain, this was going to be the last time he took you outside the castle. The last time he could truly be alone with you. And yet, he could not work up the courage to tell you how he felt, how he cherished you much more than he should’ve, how he believed he loved you.
“Wish I could take you away from here,” he said, his lips moving faster than his brain could process his words. “Wish you could stay here, and Negan would never find you.” When his rationality caught up with him, he cleared his throat and shook his head in an attempt to take back what he just said, even though he meant every word.
“I do, too,” you said, surprising him a bit. “I wish I could, but then what would Negan do? He’d destroy Alexandria. He’d kill my people… He might even kill my father. I couldn’t let that happen. No, I have to face it. There’s nothing anyone can do, Daryl, though I appreciate how much you care about my safety.”
I love you.
Instead of voicing his thought, he eyed the weakening fire of the hearth, its flame no longer adequately heating the bottom of the pot. “I’m sworn to protect you,” he said. “As your knight.” He felt your soft gaze caressing his face like an invisible hand, though he tried to remain nonchalant as he poked at the fire. “If I let you get taken against your will, I’m not protecting you.”
That was almost amusing to you, as Daryl seemed to rarely care about performing his official knightly duties. When it came to you, though, he took his job quite seriously. In fact, you began to wonder if he cared more about protecting you than his own lord to whom he owed fealty. What he owed to you meant much more than mere feudalism, though. What he owed to you was his mind, body, and soul.
“And I am sworn to protect my kingdom. If I run away, I am endangering my kingdom.”
That all being said, the idea of Daryl taking you far away from all your troubles was dangerously tempting, to the point that you forgot to breathe for a moment, until it came back to you in the form of a heavy swallowing of air.
“I do not want anyone else to die,” you continued. “I… certainly do not want you to die fighting for me, Daryl, though I am so very grateful for everything you’ve done for me. In truth, I don’t think I have ever felt as close to someone as I feel with you.”
There was more you wished to say, and it seemed as though Daryl had something on the tip of his tongue, but once again, he held himself back, despite every cell in his body screaming out to you professions of love and adoration that had only grown stronger with each passing moment he’d known you. With every way he’d begun to see you for who you were, he fell harder in love. With every angle of you he feasted upon with starving eyes that tore themselves away despite their hunger, he grew more desperate, more bereft of your warm, soft, supple body that he dreamed of cherishing and worshipping every waking moment of everyday.
God, he couldn’t keep you from his mind, your presence overwhelming and intoxicating and mesmerizing, even in this moment when your voice spoke so innocently and with the dignity and poise of a princess. That’s what you were, he had to remember—a princess. He was a knight. He needed to know his place… Though it was becoming increasingly harder to do so.
With the heady air of silence meandering between you in the tiny hovel, Daryl concentrated on rousing the flame of the hearth, but there was nothing he could do to build it up again without collecting more firewood to fuel it. It was the perfect moment to excuse himself and go out to gather tinder while he collected himself, before he did or said something… improper.
In fact, he swore that if he opened his mouth now, he’d wax poetic about all the sinful thoughts he’d tried to keep at bay. Only your voice stopped him from heading out without an explanation.
“Where are you going, knight?”
He palmed at his forehead with a huff, remembering that he was in a social situation, with a sacred woman he cared for too tenderly. He couldn’t just leave you without saying what he was doing, after all.
“Hearth needs more tinder,” he spoke over his shoulder as he donned his black wool cloak. “I won’t be far, just at the splitting log right outside.”
“I shall stir the stew,” you said dutifully, rising elegantly from your seat, with delicate handfuls of your dress to lift it as you crossed to the hearth.
“Don’t poison it,” the knight replied, to which you flashed him a smirk.
“Why ever would I do such a thing? That would be foolish, anyway. I am going to eat the stew, too.” He turned to look your way. It was a mistake. He got lost in your face, your cheeks high and full with your smile, and your eyes sparkling with the reflection of the dying fire. “Hurry along, now,” you said, your voice low now, almost husky. “You mustn’t keep me waiting.”
You did not intend the phrase to sound… suggestive, but perhaps your emotions were beginning to cloud your better judgment, and now every word you spoke betrayed you.
“I won’t,” he replied, a barely audible crack in his voice, though you chalked it up to his already raspy way of speaking. “Be right back.”
Before leaving, he took up the splitting maul he kept beside the door, a burst of cold from the spring night air chilling you for a moment as the door swung shut. Absent-mindedly, you found yourself studying the stew as you stirred it. You tilted your head in amused curiosity at the simple, yet appetizing, concoction. Whatever mix of herbs Daryl had thrown together had created a pleasant kind of aroma that filled the small one-room cottage with a comforting warmth.
A mischievous grin spread across your face as you thought to taste a bit of the stew before Daryl came back. Afterall, it couldn’t hurt to get a small sampling. Careful to get a little bit of everything in your spoonful, you purposefully sought out a large chunk of perfectly cooked-through venison. Raising the large wooden spoon to your pursed lips, you tasted the warm soup, letting it sit on your tongue for a few thoughtful moments as you attempted to study every flavor and texture.
Though the stew was undoubtedly delicious, it was still missing something. You’d seen Daryl sprinkle several different herbs and spices, but it lacked the savory, peppery taste of one of your favorite herbs: sage.
There was a tall wooden pantry across the room, where Daryl had stored most of his dry ingredients. You quickly crossed to the cabinet, your eyes looking back every few moments to keep an eye on the rolling boil of the stew. The pantry doors opened with a creak, you biting your lip and furrowing your brow as you scanned the dim shelves for the dried herb you sought. Daryl had an impressive selection of both culinary and medicinal ingredients, each jarred in their own glasses with a label of faded paper glued to its side, indicating the ingredients’ names. You’d pushed back several jars, all of which weren’t the dried sage you were looking for.
He had everything—rosemary, saffron, ginger, grains of paradise, cloves, parsley, cinnamon, spikenard, alecost, thyme, southernwood… Everything but sage. “Good heavens, sage cannot be that difficult to come by, can it?” you spoke to yourself. “Sage… Sage…” You began to impatiently rearrange the jars, rereading each one a few times to ensure you weren’t going mad, though it began to feel like it. “How could he not have—”
You’d reached the back of the dusty old shelf, where no more pesky jars of spices and herbs could taunt you. Instead, a lone small chest of plain cedarwood sat undisturbed against the back wall of the cupboard. It wouldn’t have fazed you, as you’d most logically assume it was just another container for some special exotic spice, but what had silenced you and your mumbled self-ramblings was the chain of iridescent white pearls that poured out from the little chest, rendering the lid slightly ajar, but just open enough for your to catch a brief sparkle twinkling in the darkness.
And those pearls… You recognized them.
They weren’t cheap freshwater pearls, the kind you could get from any silver-tongued peddler on the street in Alexandria’s market district. No, they were distinctive… Their luster and nearly perfect roundness betraying their expensive nature. Akoya pearls, you recalled the explorer saying. It was not long before the Scourge broke out, when you were just fifteen. The only jewels you had kept now were those inherited from your mother or family heirlooms. The pearls were beautiful, and they were important to you, but they were sacrifices you had made in the name of gratitude for the knight’s kindness.
You gave them to him, but under the impression that he’d sell them.
Why would he keep this?
But it wasn’t just one necklace, no. The faint glimmer of light from deep within the box enticed you, leading you to lift the lid, despite your high-society etiquette telling you that snooping around in other people’s things was hardly becoming behavior. You believed, though, that you had a right to see. That was once your necklace, after all.
There was more, just as you’d suspected. The box was brimming with a colorful assortment of precious jewels from your collection, all of which you’d had distinct memories of gifting to the knight after each excursion he’d accompanied you on. Pulling the box forward, you stared wide-eyed as you rummaged through, recognizing each and every piece—the pair of pearl and amethyst earrings, the ruby and silver brooch, the gilded ring of jade with an intricate claw setting, the red coral rosary given to you at your first Holy Communion, the repoussé chaplet set with refined diamonds and sapphires… Each trinket was unique, and undeniably yours.
There were a few possible explanations you could think of. The first explanation, and the most logical, was that Sir Daryl was saving your jewels for a rainy day, intent on selling them all together for a larger sum. The second, and the most amusing to you, was that he was wearing the jewelry himself, and he was hiding them to spare himself the embarrassment. The third, and the most worrisome, was that there was a lady he was intent upon giving your jewelry to, or at least that he was keeping the jewels in the event that he would find a lady to woo. This thought made your heart race, but not in the way it usually did when the knight crossed your mind.
But all these explanations were useless to you. There was no way of knowing now exactly why he kept your jewelry. Perhaps it meant nothing at all, but you couldn’t let it go. You needed to know, otherwise you’d never think clearly again. Without your sage, you replaced the chest and its contents to close the cupboard and return to the boiling pot, though not without a nervous pitter patter in your chest.
You were startled from your thoughts with a jump and a gasp when the knight kicked open the front door, a pile of freshly cut logs in his arms. He cursed himself for his lack of grace.
“Y’all right?” he asked, keeping a concerned eye on you as he crossed to the hearth to prepare the fire.
“Fine,” you replied with a nod. “Stew’s ready, I think.”
He furrowed his brow at that statement, then responded with a slight chuckle to his voice. “How do you know?”
“I tasted it,” you said. “It’s ready.”
“Yes, your highness,” he replied with a huff, amused by your certainty.
At length, he procured two wooden bowls and two silver spoons, the both of you settling for casual seating in front of the hearth, sitting upon the floor cushions with criss-crossed legs and a strange silence between you. Silences like this were uncommon. Of course, whenever it was quiet between you, there was always this presence of heaviness, as though something needed to be said by one of you, or both, but right now, there was no comfort to it. Now, the weight had become so unbearable that there would be no comfort to this usually pleasant silence until one of you spoke.
And it had to be you. You were the one who had seen the chest, who knew now that Daryl kept all those payments for whatever reason instead of cashing them in. You had to know why, there was no other way around it.
You only hoped he wouldn’t resent you for it.
“Daryl?” You let your spoon clink against the side of the wooden bowl as you relished the recent aftertaste of the savory soup. “May I ask you something?”
He was hoping you would. He’d spent enough time with you, had known all your habits and quirks and idiosyncrasies, that he knew when there was something on your mind. Given the weight of this silence, it must’ve been important.
“Yeah.” He wiped his lips with the sleeve of his off-white chemise. You took extra care not to become distracted by the crop of pale brown, wiry chest hairs just barely visible at his loosely laced up collar.
Without even noticing, you licked your lips as you thought of what to say, hoping he wouldn’t be offended. Afterall, you’d gone snooping about in his pantry. Still, you believed you had a right to know.
To focus on your words, you set your near-empty bowl on the stone edge of the hearth. You straightened to sit up taller, your hands carefully folded in your lap. You looked like the picture of a princess, except in your eyes. They were downturned, as you couldn’t bear to look him in the eye in case your actions were misconstrued as mischief. “When you were out chopping wood,” you began with a small nervous croak in your voice, “I… Well, I tried the stew, as I said, but I thought it could use some sage, you see, and so I—I looked in your pantry.”
It was then that the knight began to choke on a chunk of venison, having swallowed it too soon with the realization that you could’ve seen his jewelry box, the one he hid because of his embarrassment to admit that he kept those jewels because they were yours. No practical reason at all, just the thought of you, something part of you belonging to him. It was silly, he knew that, but to him, there was a comfort in having those trinkets. If he’d sold them, all he’d have would be measly bits of dirty metal that had been in thousands of different hands and would be in a thousand more. Those jewels were worth more than that. They were once yours. As far as he was concerned, they were still yours.
The man turned away from you, covering his mouth with the inside of his elbow as he coughed to help the meat pass down his throat. You leaned forward, reaching your hand out to touch his shoulder. “Are you all right?”
“Mhm,” he mumbled between his coughs. “Just… just…”
“Here,” you said, scooting closer to hand him a tankard of water. He waved you off, but he was still hunched over to the side and refusing to face you, both as a result of his embarrassment and his coughing fit. You huffed and spoke more harshly now. “Daryl.”
He knew that voice well enough now to know you were serious. He turned towards you slowly, taking the cup from your hands as he still sputtered our grunts between coughs. “Th—thanks.”
He choked a bit more on the water now, but only because he felt your hand soothing his back in slow, languid, yet careful, movements. “There…” Your voice was smooth and velvety, like sweet whipped cream. With each pass of your hand, you felt the silk fabric of his shirt pucker against your palm. The heat of his body drew you closer subconsciously, til you felt his strong, hard shoulder nearly digging into your chest. Despite your attempt to pull away, it felt too good to rid yourself of his closeness. “Better?”
With the delicate pressure of your hand caressing him, of course he felt better. He grunted in acknowledgement as he nodded, setting the tankard on the floor beside him. “Yeah… Please forgive me.”
You shook your head and laughed at that. “For what? Swallowing your food too fast?”
He felt like a blubbering fool, wiping his lips and chuckling under his breath to match your contagious giggles. But then, with a diminuendo of laughter, he realized he’d interrupted you, and he needed to know now what you were going to say, just in case you did see his hidden treasure. Well, your hidden treasure.
“For interrupting you,” he said. “You were sayin’ something… D’ya find the sage?”
He knew full well there was no sage in that pantry. He’d run out just a few days prior.
“Oh,” you sighed. “Well, no, I…”
You’d made the grave mistake of lifting your wide eyes to meet his, though the both of you were trying to hide your gaze from one another. It was inevitable that they would meet at some point this evening, but now that they had, you could not bear to look away, neither could he. For several moments, you could not even blink for fear of missing him and his deep, almost dark blue eyes, filled with the mystery of something nearly inscrutable, but not impossible to figure out. In fact, the more you looked, you swore you got closer to finding the answers to all the questions in his eyes.
“Daryl,” you started again, this time holding his gaze with a nervous, fluttering blink of your curled eyelashes. “Why… Why have you not sold the jewelry I paid you with?”
There were many replies he could have made, but the only one that was remotely coherent was the one with the fewest number of words: Because I love you.
Several heavy moments passed in silence, with only the crackling of the now roaring hearthfire filling the space where words might’ve existed if only he had the courage to speak without thinking first in this moment. This, however, was a delicate situation, and he could not face it with the usual impulsivity and carelessness that he might’ve had in other situations.
There was a contradictory sense of both a need to profess his love to you and a need to brush it off with some lie, but how could he lie to you, his sweet princess? You were worth so much more than that to him, so much more than a paltry lie, but you were also worth more than every jewel in that box.
“You, uh… You saw that?”
Your shoulders shrugged as you smiled bashfully. Daryl’s cheeks seemed to heat up, too. “I did. I know I had no right to look, but with the gold those jewels are worth, you could purchase your own manor and petition to become a lord. My father would happily grant you that position, I’m sure. You would not have to be a vassal. Of course, it is your property to do with as you wish, but I cannot help but wonder why.”
Titles and property were of no consequence to Daryl. They never meant much. He grew up with next to nothing, raised by poor merchants who struggled to buy a single loaf of bread. Perhaps one would think that growing up so poor would make him value money, but it was quite the opposite. It made him hate it, how it could make or break a man. No, what you gave to him was worth so much more.
“I—” He paused to think more thoroughly about what he was to say, but there was no way around it. He had to say it. “I couldn’t get rid of them. Couldn’t just give ‘em to somebody else.”
Though his words seemed sentimental, his eyes still strayed from you. Leaning forward, your heart aching with a desperate hope, you tried to coerce his eyes to meet yours. Your hand still traced invisible shapes across the broad expanse of his back.
“Why?” You wondered if perhaps your secret fourth explanation had been correct. The more he stalled, you began to realize that it was. “Daryl…” Your other hand lifted cautiously, its movements foreign to you as your fingers delicately cradled his chin, then brought his head up until those soft, deep blue eyes greeted you. Perhaps you were torturing him, begging him to admit his feelings despite his fear, but you needed his words. That was all you’d need. You smiled to comfort him as you spoke. “Why could you not bear to sell my jewels?”
Your touch was in two places now—his back and his chin. Both points of contact were burning, a fire that spread through him and touched him in places he didn’t dare even think of at this moment. Your touch was innocent, it had to be. He wouldn’t let himself believe otherwise. His task was to keep you safe, to never let harm come your way. Indulging in his desires, no matter how much he wanted to, would only take advantage of the trust you and your father had in him. But, oh… The way your chest heaved against his shoulder. You were so close. So incredibly close. Almost as close as he’d imagined, in his darkened bedroom where his sordid thoughts took root. Even his dreams were full of visions of you, hazy and ethereal, like you were made of clouds. So soft, so warm.
“Daryl?” you pressed again. “Won’t you answer me, please?”
“It’s wrong,” he said quickly. “It’s all wrong.”
“No, it is not.”
“I just couldn’t… Couldn’t give part of you away.”
“Part of me?”
“Part of you,” he repeated. “Someone else, with a part of you… I can’t let anyone else have you. Those things belonged to you, so they’re precious to me. You’re precious to me.”
There. That was enough. Enough for you to know the truth, enough for you to lean even closer, your eyes nearly closed despite a sliver of vision focused on his lips, slightly agape and quivering. With your hand still holding his chin, you pulled him closer, too, his body and mind paralyzed for a moment, rendered helpless by you.
But for a moment, when your lips were just an inch or two from his, you fluttered your eyes open to meet his. “My knight,” you whispered, the soft wind of your breath tickling his aching lips. “Kiss me.”
“I—I can’t.”
“Yes, you can…” Just like that, you spoke in your most regal tone of authority, the same you’d used to threaten to have Negan executed, though this time, a little more sultry. “I am your princess, and you will do as I say, knight.”
Yes, your highness.
With a burst of desperation rising up in his abdomen, he leaned forward to close the gap between you, not just at your lips, but at every part of you. His hands grasped hard at your waist, pulling you nearly onto his lap. Your chest was pressed so tight against his that you gasped for breath from his mouth as he kissed you, heavy breaths exhaling from his nostrils like a wild animal just freed from its cage.
You felt one hand wildly rise up your back and tangle in your hair, loosening the lone braid at the back of your head, until cascades of hair hung freely over your shoulders and back. Your hands had no choice but to cling tight to his shoulders as his hands explored you to the extent he would allow himself, though it felt so wonderful that you wished he’d unrestrain himself even more. Just when you started to think he was becoming more unhindered, his hand slowly melting down your lower back and inching closer to your bottom, he stopped himself.
His mouth tore away from you, the cold of the night air stinging your moistened lips as they trembled, and you felt your throat already begin to swallow back a lump. “What is it?”
His hands were still on you, but he panted as he looked worryingly at you, his head shaking as if to reprimand himself, though he couldn’t hide his blown out pupils and the increasingly noticeable hardness of his lap. Still, you feared he’d deny you.
“I can’t control myself,” he said. “If we… kept goin’…”
“I want to keep going,” you said. Your hands moved to grasp at his shirt collar, where your fingers began to undo his lace. “I want whatever you would do.”
“You don’t know what you want,” he said. “You don’t want me, princess.”
“I do want you, knight.”
“You can’t. I can’t. If your father—”
“I love you.”
He fell silent. Scared. Not of your words, but of himself, of what hearing those words in your voice did to him. They ignited a deeper, inextinguishable fire.
“Don’t say what ya don’t mean, milady.”
A single shiny tear glimmered as it rolled down your soft rouged cheek, settling into the corner of your mouth. You weren’t sure exactly why you began to cry. Perhaps it was the idea of rejection, or the thought of Sir Negan taking you away before promising yourself to the only man you’d ever cared for, but one thing was certain: your love for him was strong enough to bring tears to your eyes.
“I do not say things I do not mean, Sir Daryl. When I say I love you, I am speaking from my heart, and my heart would not lead me astray. I love you, and that is the truth.”
And it was his truth, too. Now, your words were enough to convince him.
He lowered his eyes, his lips turned stern. It was an earnest, serious gaze. He said what he’d been thinking for months, what he would never stop thinking no matter what. He would always love you. He would always do anything for you. It was time he made it known. “I love you.”
It was simple when he said it, but you knew it to be true by the way his hands clung tighter to your waist. Hesitantly, he raised his right hand, allowing the back of it to caress your cheek. His touch was rough, but only because of his worn skin. The way he moved was soft, gentle, sweet. Even in his evident lust, he still touched you with the innocence of a white daisy’s petals brushing against your skin.
Hesitantly, he let his lips ghost your other cheek as you exhaled a heavy breath against his neck. “Daryl,” you whispered. He kissed your skin, his lips spread open and tongue just barely stretching out to tickle you. As he moved his mouth lower, dragging sloppy kisses along your jawline, his arms wrapped fully around you, tugging you against him. Your hands held tight to his shoulder blades, and you felt them flex and jolt with each movement he made as his lips met yours again. This time, his tongue breached the entrance to your mouth, finding yours and almost attacking it. In your inexperience, you only gasped against his lips, then jutted out your own tongue in an attempt to keep up with him.
“Daryl,” you panted between his kisses. He grunted under his breath, still indulging in your taste. With your fingers on his cheeks, you pulled back for a moment, looking into his darkened eyes. You’d never seen his eyes like that before. It almost frightened you, but mostly, it only made you realize exactly what you wanted. “I want you to take my maidenhead.”
Of course, he wanted to. It wasn’t a question of whether or not he wanted to, it was a question of whether or not he should, and he knew he shouldn’t. He knew such a thing was against his code, perhaps the most egregious way to break it. The law of chivalry held all knights to a certain standard, a law that governed their every action. Sleeping with the daughter of the king he served, much less taking her virginity, would certainly be cause for execution.
“I can’t,” he said, though his eyes portrayed another answer. “You know I can’t.” You shook your head, opening your mouth to latch onto his jawline, kissing him as he’d kissed you. He muttered your name, though he could not tear you away, your sweet lips wetting his skin as your hand combed through his hair. “It would…”
Your hand lowered to his chest, grasping at his bare skin underneath his chemise. Your fingers seemed to tremble, your body not knowing what to do without his guidance. He grasped at your hand, though he did not push you away. He kept it there, keeping it steady. He turned to face your lips, and they trembled, too. To steady them, he raised his thumb to your plump bottom lip, moving it gently side to side. It felt like sacrilege to touch you like this, but it also felt like the most holy, sacred kind of worship.
“It would be wrong. I’m not your husband. It would be against… Against my code of chivalry.”
It nearly made you laugh. “You’ve already disobeyed my father and taken me outside the castle walls into walker-infested woods. You’ve done a hundred things that broke your code.”
Leaning ever closer, you pressed your soft chest against his firm one, the heat rising between your bodies almost as strong as the roaring hearthfire that painted his face in rich, warm burnt oranges and browns. The smile on your face curled delicately as you brushed aside the curtains of his hair till they were pinned behind his ears. In this light, his face was both worn yet youthful, like an old painting of a young man.
In a hushed, honeyed voice, you whispered against his cheek, “What’s one more?” Innocent lips coated with that floral musky balm grazed his stubbly cheek. It was not scratchy, though, it was soft and ticklish, like how your fingers felt on his chest.
For a long, torturous moment, he only held you close, his grip still tight on your waist. He leaned into your kiss, though he still was trying to cling to the last thread of chivalrous honor he had within him. That rope was threadbare, though, with only a fiber or two to hold on to, and the more your lips grazed his skin, trailing to his neck in clumsy, inexperienced movements, you felt his hand return to your hair to tangle itself in your now tousled locks.
The low, dulcet moan escaping your lips marked the moment the tether snapped, and no longer could he say he had any respect for a code of conduct that left him bereft of your body and the pleasure he could give you, as your servant, your escort, your knight.
With a throaty grunt, he took your mouth in his, devouring it much more deeply than he had before. There was no cautiousness now in his embrace, his hands lowering to cup both sides of your bottom as he lifted you more fully to his lap, with his legs outstretched underneath you.
Both of you became engulfed in a tangle of limbs, furiously clawing at each other like you were both tearing at your own flesh to escape from its confines. Yourself now made taller than him as you sat upon his lap, you parted from his lips for a moment to look down at him, panting and lips shiny from your saliva, and made plump and red by his impassioned kiss.
“You’re so beautiful,” he said, looking up at you with hazy, dark eyes. Indeed, you were the most beautiful sight he’d ever had the chance to behold. Sometimes, he did not even think himself worthy to utter your name, or to have his name uttered by you… You in your sweetness and kindness and sensitivity and grace and—
Your small laugh reawakened him. How dare he even begin to wax poetic about you in his own head when you were in his arms now, your hands on his shoulders and your chest heaving with each beautiful breath. To know you were so alive, warm and trembling in his strong arms, safe and protected… That was the greatest pleasure of all.
And yet, the carnal desire for you was quick to overwhelm him. He squeezed you tighter before leaning forward, taking you with him. “Mm!” you laughed against his lips as he kissed you.
How he could be so gentle and yet so strong you did not know. With your back arched and your head cradled by his hands, you felt the support of your floor pillow underneath you, your legs now wrapped around his waist.
Propping himself up by his arms to look at you, he gazed in awe, your hair sprawled out from your head in every which way like an angel’s halo made from a sunburst. Where your gown of sage green silk brocade met your breasts, he let his gaze linger. Finally. Without the worries of being improper, he could admire the gentle, supple curves of your décolletage.
And now your gown sank down to your upper thighs, exposing much more skin than he’d ever seen—or felt. He sat up straight, his hand gently petting your soft bare calf, then moving down slowly, torturously, to touch your thigh.
Never had you been touched like this. Not even by yourself. In fact, you felt rather foolish, stiffening a bit as your eyes widened the more he moved his hand, now lifting up the rest of your skirt.
“Daryl…” you all but whined, a moan somewhere between a begging lust and a nervous embarrassment. “I know nothing,” you said simply. “I—I—”
Your own gasp cut short your stuttering admission. “Oh.”
All you could feel was his hand cupping your mound, now completely exposed without the cover of your gown.
He couldn’t tear his eyes away, each fold and crevice and speckling of your dainty hairs that matched perfectly the locks on your head. In fact, he ran his fingers through the little forest above your womanhood. It was soft, warm, untouched until now.
“You’re beautiful,” he spoke again. “Very… royal.”
“Royal?”
He laughed under his breath, biting his lip as he trailed his pointer finger around your lips, tickling you as you writhed a little. “Everything about you,” he said. “Even this… So perfect and clean and royal.”
Flushed with rose-tinted clouds of excitement and shyness, you rolled your shoulders as you watched him lick his pretty pink lips, over and over. “Have you seen many women like this, sir?”
He returned his gaze to yours with a raised, mischievous brow. Sir had never sounded so intoxicating as it did now. “None as sweet and virtuous as you.”
Indeed, he slightly feared his first movements towards intercourse. Never before had he taken a maiden’s virginity, and he was sure he’d hurt you if he was too hasty. He would have to tread carefully, though the subtle glisten of your entrance beckoned him, and those soft, intricate folds of supple flesh sparked a fire in him he’d never felt before. This was the image he’d dreamed of—your untouched womanhood naked before him, just waiting for him to release you from the bonds of chastity forevermore.
And, oh, that moan, of which he had only gotten a sampling of. He needed more, he needed to be drowned in that sound. He needed to be the one who showed you the carnal pleasure of love, and to experience it himself, too. It would be the most potent kind of intimacy, and he wanted the both of you to be consumed by it. Together.
All he could think of, all he wanted to do, was get a mouthful of you. Drink from the fountain that was your body.
“Can I… taste you?”
A genuine expression of innocent confusion spread across your face. “Kiss me?” Your eyes fluttered shut as your lips gently pursed, prepared to receive his sweet kiss.
“Nah, not like that,” he said, a subtle laugh under his low, gruff voice. Two calloused fingertips grazed the top junction of your lips, where an almost overwhelming tingle spread through you. Then, his fingers moved apart as they descended slowly, spreading you open. The reddish, taught flesh seemed to pulse on its own accord as your breath shuddered and your eyes widened at the strange feeling. “Here. I wanna taste you here.”
Finally understanding, and yet not understanding at all, you looked up at him with a furrowed look of concern. “Why? Is that not… unsanitary?”
An amused grin spread across his face. “Looks clean to me… They bathe you good, my princess.”
His princess. Oh, that sent an entirely new shiver through you.
But only with your permission would he do such a thing. Only with your word would he let his common tongue invade your royal maidenhead.
So he’d beg for it, like he knew he should.
“Please,” he said, voice sweeter and softer than you’d ever heard. He even lowered himself, his lips hovering above your navel as he looked up at you with those crystal clear eyes. “Please, your highness… I will be gentle.” His hands held firm to your thighs, rubbing them softly, up and down. When his lips met your abdomen, just below your navel, you sighed unexpectedly, and he could feel your heat.
“I’ll beg for it.” The reverberations of his rough voice tickled your lower stomach. He dragged his lips progressively lower, to where the hairs upon your mound began. A trail of kisses began to form between each mumbled plea.
“I’ll beg to taste you…” Kiss. “Lick you…” Kiss. “I’m beggin’…” Kiss. “Let me taste how perfect my sweet princess is.”
Though you were still puzzled by his desire to kiss you there, you decided to oblige, especially as the strange tickly feeling became more and more intense with each kiss he bestowed upon your mound. Somehow, his begging even excited you.
“Yes,” you sighed. Blindly, you reached for him, your hands tangling in his chestnut colored hair, strands messy and wild. The ends of those locks tickled your skin as they hung around his face, dragging with each movement of his mouth downwards. “You may taste me… Though I do not understand why you want to, sir.” You laughed as you looked down at him, kissing the soft little hairs you always found to be unsightly, but it was not in vogue to shave, of course. At least, not for a lady of your status. He seemed to like it, though. “You are rather strange,” you teased. “Do you think I will taste nice?”
“Know you will,” he said, and you watched as he wetted his fingers with his tongue, then circled them over your now puffy lips.
With a little gasp, you giggled girlishly at his touch. It was all so strange to you, but it felt nice. You’d had no idea this part of you was so sensitive, as you’d never bothered to touch it besides your daily baths. Even then, you hardly touched yourself only to clean, and when you felt an unfamiliar tingle as you’d slide your wet hand between those little folds of sensitive skin, you’d quickly pull away. All you knew of that part of you was that it was for your future husband, and you’d never cared much for trying to find one, especially since the world was the way it was.
Now, you could only dream of a husband like him, the knight who lowered himself once more, slotting his head between your bare thighs. His hands holding them, he coerced your legs to spread wider, allowing that crevice to widen and open the small fleshy hole. He could already tell you’d never even touched yourself, your entrance half-obstructed by a small stretch of skin-colored tissue—your maidenhead.
He’d not touch that for now, instead only focused on slowly licking a stripe up your open slit, marking his first taste of you.
There was a strong reverberation that jolted through you, causing your legs to flinch closed, Daryl’s head now sandwiched between the fat of your thighs. “Oh!” you cried out, back involuntarily arched against the cushion and hands tangled further in his hair until your fingernails clawed at his scalp. There was a muffled growl between your legs in response. At first, you assumed you’d hurt him. “Oh, I—I am sorry, my love…” you sputtered, almost with a nervous laugh at your sensitivity, and massaging his scalp more gently now. “Did I hurt you?”
On the contrary, your scratching and pulling and squeezing only excited him. He did not answer your question, only pressing his face harder against you, smothering his nose and mouth between your folds, wettened by his saliva. If he suffocated between your legs, he’d die happy, as the taste was intoxicating, sweeter than the finest honey wine he’d ever had, and the feeling a more lovely warmth than the hearth that illuminated the dim cottage with that dreamy glow.
With a renewed lust, he moved his head wildly, licking up and down and swirling in tight circles round the bundle of nerves above the entrance. It seemed to elicit the most beautiful moans and gasps and sighs from your pretty mouth, of which he often took a glimpse when he raised his eyes to admire your innocent beauty.
And though he could lick you like this for hours on end, he’d grown desperate to taste you deeper, just a little. So he parted your legs with a jolt. “Keep ‘em open,” he ordered, voice more hoarse and throaty and deep than before. His desire was becoming more urgent, more primitive as the very last of his decency was chiseled away by his need. “I want more of this pretty cunt.”
You nearly gasped at the vulgar word, having only heard it once or twice in your presence—both times from a slightly inebriated Lady Margaret, who used it to pejoratively refer to Lady Caroline behind her back, but now you knew where it came from. It sounded devilishly dulcet on his low, panting voice.
Legs spread further apart, he caught another glimpse of that hole, coated in a sparkling sheen that was damp to the touch. The corner of his lip lifted slightly as he spoke. “You’re gettin’ wet,” he said, much to your confusion. “D’ya like what I’m doin’ to you, princess?”
“Y-yes,” you stuttered. His fingertip traced the rim of your wet entrance.
Before he dove down once more, he couldn’t help but just admire the beauty of your womanhood with his eyes. He felt a sudden wave of unworthiness well up in him. After all, this sight was never for him. It was forbidden, and yet, you’d decided he was worthy to have you.
You, his lady, his mistress, his princess, his queen. In every sense of the word, you ruled him, and he had no choice but to bask in the glory of your trembling body, every inch perfect and unique and, soon, his.
He’d make you his, but first he had to make him yours.
“Oh!” His lips spread open wide to envelope the hole, where his tongue flattened out to lick at the source of your arousal. All you could feel was his long tongue poking inside you, wiggling to adjust to how small the entrance was.
Meanwhile, the tip of his soft button nose pressed up against your most sensitive spot, where a fresh tingle surged through you. To get a better angle, he slid both hands underneath your bare rump, pulling your body closer and angling your core upwards as your legs found their home upon his shoulders, just the perfect width to accommodate your thighs.
“That’s it,” he spoke against your inner thigh, where he left a series of frantic, desperate little kisses. They weren’t just lustful, but affectionate, as though he was bestowing these kisses to reward you for your obedience. “Sweet royal cunt.”
That word again made you flinch, or perhaps it was the suction of his lips around that bundle of nerves that pleased you so.
“Y-you’re so vulgar,” you sighed with a gentle laugh rolling under your voice. “Where… is my gallant knight?”
“Between your pretty legs, milady.”
His tongue wiggled in spastic movements between his lips, reddening and engorging the sensitive spot as a strange tightening feeling formed in your lower belly. Unbeknownst to you, the walls of your passage squeezed involuntarily around the empty space inside you. In this moment, you never felt more empty, in fact. All you wanted, the longer his mouth devoured you, was to somehow feel whole.
“Please!” you cried out, voice strained and high-pitched with a desperate plea for him to satisfy you, somehow. You did not know how, but you needed it, whatever it was. “Oh, I…”
The knight knew what you needed, and he needed it, too, but you were so close to ultimate pleasure. The wetter you became, the more of his saliva that soaked into your crevices and your increasingly gaping entrance, the more your body would accept his. That much he knew.
But the feeling was so powerful, so overwhelming. Each burst of pleasure erupted within you, like a volcano that had lain dormant for a millenia or two, and only now was that red hot magma spewing forth, until one final eruption would leave you satisfied. It terrified you. Was this normal? Surely a woman should not feel such euphoria. All you’d known of your womb was the pain and shame of that period in which blood would flow from you. You’d been told it was divine punishment for women. Eve’s betrayal, the fall of Eden… Why should you pay for that? Now, there was only pleasure, no pain.
The pleasure, though, was so intense, so frightful, that you panicked, your thighs clenching tight round his head once more as your back arched in agonizing bliss, his tongue now thrusting into you again. “Oh!” you cried out. “I… Wh-what… Daryl, I’m frightened!”
His eyes flashed up to look at you. “What is it?” he asked. He tore himself away from you, while his hand reached up to cradle your trembling cheek. “What’s wrong?”
“I—I…” Gasping for air, you writhed and wriggled underneath him, squeezing your thighs together as if to provide some relief. “I do not know… I feel so strange.”
Tears trickled down your cheek, and the knight’s brows furrowed in concern. He brushed a few away with his fingers. “Why’re ya cryin’, girl?”
And you knew now why, as your hips gyrated and bucked up towards him, as if demanding for him to return to you. The sensation was just so strong, but so lovely. “Please,” you whimpered. “Do not stop.”
Now he knew, too. A laugh forced his mouth into a wide grin. “Oh, I see,” he said, hands moving achingly slowly back down to your thighs. He spread them apart again, a feeling which made your breath hitch for a moment. “Feels good, doesn’t it? My tongue…”
“Yes,” you gasped. “Please, more.”
And so he gave you more, his mouth quickly returning to that puffy, reddened flesh between your thighs, eliciting from you a visceral moan as your head fell back against the cushion. “Ah!” you cried out.
After the brief period in which he’d separated from you, you now felt the sensation returning, this time even more intense. Sounds of wet flesh being licked and sucked and kissed surrounded you, accompanied by soft, muffled groans from your knight.
How he’d wanted this for so long, to have your taste and to feel your restless, writhing body involuntarily grinding against his tongue. For a moment, he pulled your outer lips further apart, allowing more direct exposure to the now throbbing, swollen protrusion that gave you so much pleasure. He sucked at that flesh again, this time bringing his finger to the hole that begged to be filled.
“Oh, oh!” His finger breached the entrance, just a few centimeters, but enough to stretch you more than you’d been stretched open ever before. “My god!”
“Come,” his voice murmured between furious sucking. “Come, my princess. I want you to come.”
“C-come… Where?”
“On my face,” he laughed.
“Wh-what… are you… talking about?”
The vibration of his laughter tickled your flesh. “You’re too innocent,” he said. “You’ll see what I mean.”
He knew you must be close, so it did not take much more effort to get you to the brink of orgasm. All he needed to do was curl his finger upwards inside you as he swirled his tongue with more pressure, practically digging a brand new hole with the tip of his tongue.
And, with your hands shooting out to claw at his shoulders, the tingling and tightening and tickling finally reached its peak as the feeling of the final, strongest eruption came forth, exploding from the pit of your abdomen and spreading throughout every cell in your hot, squirming body.
Moans of his name were falling softly, repeatedly from your lips, where bite marks had embedded themselves after several minutes of your teeth digging into the skin. He’d never heard his name being spoken so much, so sweetly and with so much bliss. After all, it was the name of the person who’d given you the greatest feeling you’d ever experienced.
You were left jolting, your body gently rocking up against his face, which was still buried between your lips as his tongue gathered every drop of the arousal that slowly dripped from you. His own arousal caught up with him, too, a noticeable feeling of a strain, and a tightening in his chausses.
Panting and moaning under your labored breaths, you felt the pleasure begin to die down as his lips praised you with small kisses all over the outside of your pulsing entrance. Deviously, he stuck his tongue out to deliver short, sweet licks to your still throbbing bundle of nerves.
A soft, delirious giggle erupted from your lips as your fingers tangled in his disheveled hair. All you could see was his head bobbing between your legs, and all you could hear was the crackle of the hearthfire and the sounds of his pursed lips kissing your wet folds. Feeling his finger curling at the shallow part of you, you squeezed on purpose, much to his amusement.
“I feel ya,” he mumbled. “You feel so good.”
“Daryl.” Your hands grasped both sides of his head with some pressure, as if to pull him up. “Come here.”
He let you guide his head until his lips met yours and your arms wrapped loosely around his neck, weighing him down. His body weight covered you completely, a sensation which excited him even more.
On your lips, you tasted yourself, his tongue and lips now coated with your arousal. “What did you do to me?” you asked between his kiss. “Your tongue is magical… Some kind of wicked sorcery.”
His laughter tickled your cheek as he kissed you there. “I jus’ made ya come,” he said simply. “S’why you’re so wet down there now. Got you all ready.” His hands raised up to tug on the collar of your dress, as if trying to yank it off you.
“Ready for what?” you laughed, though you had a few ideas of what he could be referring to, as innocent as you were, but you hadn’t heard the word he’d said next before.
“For my cock.”
In genuine confusion, you furrowed your brow. “You have a rooster?”
“Yeah.” The mischievous, lop-sided smirk on his face as his finger traced your jawline told you he was messing with you. “I’ve got a big, red rooster.”
“Oh?” you said, playing along with him despite your ignorance. “Well, won’t you introduce me to your rooster?”
By now, you knew what he meant.
When he dragged your hand down to his clothed erection, a deep blush bloomed upon your cheeks. “Oh,” you sighed. “Hello, rooster.”
To say you hadn’t thought of it before would be a lie. Of course you had. While you did not know much about sex, or that part of the male anatomy, you knew that part of a man was meant for that complimentary part of a woman. You knew that was the part of him that would put a child in your womb, though you knew not the exact details of the whole ordeal.
Interrupting your thoughts of his “rooster,” you were suddenly lifted from the ground and tangled in his arms, with your feet dangling off the ground as he dragged you towards the hay-stuffed mattress you’d rested upon a few times before. You exclaimed a laughing, “Daryl!” before being laid gently, yet almost impatiently, upon the bed.
You propped yourself up on your elbows to see him at the foot of the bed, lifting his shirt above his head as he panted.
Eyes wide, you felt your heart thump in your chest when his broad frame was bare before you, his chest just as bulky and strong and wide as you’d imagined. Your eyes were drawn to the charming smattering of little hairs, and the small pink nipples that hardened against the air.
You couldn’t help but follow the trail of those same hairs that began at his navel and led down to the waistband of his pants, which he began to untie frantically. Meanwhile, your mouth fell agape at the shape of his… cock, you supposed it was called—so big it looked like it could rip through the cotton of his chausses at any second.
Involuntarily, your thighs rubbed themselves together, where you could now feel your own wetness seeping from you. Seeing the size of his cock, now you knew why you’d need to be wet.
Just like that, he was naked, his cock springing up as soon as he pulled his pants down enough. It nearly startled you, almost eliciting a gasp. Never had you seen something so… odd. You couldn’t even wrap your head around the testicles just yet.
But he left you hardly any time to think about the new body parts you were faced with. Instead, he laid himself down on his side next to you, his hands rubbing up and down your arms. The motion soothed you, though his dark, lusty stare made you shiver.
“Sit up for me,” he said. You did as he told you, as an unspoken dynamic had appeared: he would lead you, as you were much too inexperienced to know your way around this territory.
And yet, he was not forceful, nor domineering. Indeed, he knew you were still his princess, his ruler. He knew that you held the utmost power over him, and that whatever you’d say, he would have to do it. There was no mistake of who was ultimately in charge, whose body he was compelled to worship and please. Still, he’d lead you physically.
Now sitting up, he scooted back to unlace the back of your gown, each silk knot coming undone with a beautiful cascade of fabric, until your back was nude, and he pressed a kiss to the top of your spine.
He pulled on your sleeves gently, but with a noticeable waning of his patience. “Lay back now,” he said. Like a mindless servant, you obeyed him.
Your surcoat was loose enough to pull off you now, so he did, letting the expensive garment sink to the floor. Now, your kirtle, which he pulled over your head, manipulating your body like a rag doll. With each movement he made, another sweaty, glistening muscle flexed under that tan, workworn skin, stretching across which were many faded scars from battles and jousts and God only knew what else.
Lastly, your chemise kept him from your supple nude body, so he pulled it off with a slight growl under his breath. Now, you laid back fully, your completely divested skin meeting the thick, buttery soft pelt of the fur blanket beneath you.
Your body was a sight to behold, so marvelous that he stood up again, stepping back to let his eyes roam all over you.
It was enough to bring him to knees, literally. He sunk to the floor, where he attached his lips to your ankle, which had caused him some trouble in the past. The many times he’d caught sight of your ankle, he felt perverted, sinful. Then your calf, soft and smooth against his lips. He covered as much skin as he could in his kisses, then he reached your knee, and your thighs, where he spread apart your legs to leave more kisses at your womanhood.
“You’re insatiable,” you laughed, watching as his lips trailed through the hairs on your mound. “You cannot kiss every part of my body, sir.”
“I can try.”
His tongue circled around your navel, then he continued his kisses to the slope of your left breast, where he quickly latched to your nipple, causing you to flinch at the new feeling.
His other hand found your other breast, squeezing it just enough to make you gasp a little. After all, with his lips and hands worshiping your entire body, you weren’t sure how else to react.
“You’re so perfect,” he mumbled against the pillowy surface of your breast. “I’d die for you.”
Even the thought made you shiver and cling to his flexing shoulder blades. “N-no, my love… Do not say such a thing. My… my heart c-could not bear to even think of it.”
“I’d kill for you,” he said now. “I’ll do anythin’ you ask of me… I belong to you.”
As you processed his pledge, you hadn’t even noticed two of his fingers digging into your entrance, spreading you open, little by little. His sweet, raspy voice soothed the pain.
Now, his lips trailed to your collarbones, where he left dozens of kisses and licks across your skin.
“I live to serve you,” he whispered. You gasped, not at his words, but at his two thick fingers going deeper, a sound of flesh upon wet flesh. “Only you… My sweet princess.”
“Oh, my sweet knight… Ah…”
A slight tearing feeling at your entrance made you wince in pain, but the knight paused for a moment, nudging his nose against your cheek to get your attention.
“Am I hurtin’ ya?”
“No, no.” If he stopped, you might die of emptiness. The stretching hurt, but you could not go much longer without him filling the emptiness within you. Once he started, you wouldn’t be able to be without him.
“Need to stretch your cunt a little,” he said. “My cock’s gonna hurt ya more if I don’t.”
Judging by the size, you believed him. Your eyes were transfixed on the thing as you wondered how in the world he’d get it in your tight hole, but you trusted him to take care of you.
And you wanted it. You couldn’t explain it, but your need for that big length of flesh, with engorged veins and a droplet or two of clear liquid beading at its reddened tip, was greater than any pain you might’ve felt.
“I want it, sir,” you practically purred. “Your…”
He smiled against the cheek he was busy kissing. “My rooster?”
“Your cock.”
He tore his lips away to give you a wide-eyed stare as he tried to fake a serious look of shock, but the upturned corner of his snickering lips betrayed him.
“Your highness,” he scolded in jest. “Where’d ya learn such a dirty word?” His fingers inched deeper, so deep that your back arched as you laughed a visceral moan.
“Oh, you scoundrel!” Your hand delivered a very weak slap to his chest.
Pulling his fingers out, he laughed as his hands gripped both of your wrists. His face turned serious, yet still soft. “You think you’re ready for my cock?”
“Yes, but… I mustn’t have your child now.”
You weren’t totally unaware of the true purpose of sex. In fact, it had been drilled into your head by archbishop Gabriel, whose responsibility seemed to be deterring you and all other maidens at court from engaging in premarital sex that was not for the express purpose of procreation, as such an act would brand one “a whore in the eyes of God.” Conveniently, the archbishop’s sermon had overlooked any consequences for men.
“You won’t,” he assured you. Indeed, he had intimate knowledge of one of the world’s most time-honored methods of contraception: coitus interruptus. “I’ll be careful.”
Removing his fingers from you, he rubbed his palm up and down your slit, spreading the wetness of your arousal all over you. He leaned back for a moment, looking down to spread apart your lips and see your hole, which opened quite a bit wider now for him. Redness pooled around the opening, but you couldn’t notice the dull pain, not when his eyes held yours so intently. “Think you’re ready,” he said. “Tell me to stop and I will.”
Don’t stop. “All right, my love.”
The hard, spongy surface of his tip grazed over your clit, and slid with his body as he rolled forward over you. “You ready?”
At this point, the suspense was killing you. Each drag of his length through your sodden flesh was agonizing. Your body grew restless, arching your back up to meet his chest and pull him down. “Yes,” you sighed, then ghosted your lips over his. “Make me yours now. I want to be yours.”
He eased himself in as your mouth latched to his, your whimpers of combined pain and pleasure melting into his kiss. The tip was inside you now, just beginning to stretch you further to meet the wide girth of his thick cock. The slow, tearing feeling was enough to make you bite down on his tongue, nearly drawing blood. He only growled into your mouth, digging his cock deeper.
Your suffocating tightness tested his willpower, his ability to keep himself from moving so fast that he’d lose control of his cock, but it felt so good, so warm and snug. As he sank further into you, he tore his lips free to whisper against your ear, “How ya feel?”
With a deep swallow, you held back your tears. “Fine,” you said. “Just… it hurts a little. Does it fit?”
He looked between your bodies, where half his length was inside you, the other half twitching with bulging veins and redness only darkening. He stayed still, brushing back your tears as you sniffled. “Yeah, it’ll fit. You just need stretched, s’all.”
He pushed himself in a little further as his lips caught another tear. Clawing at his back, you let out a sharp gasp. “Oh! Daryl! It’s too big, you’re too big… I can’t…”
His hand reached down to tickle his fingers against your clit, attempting to ease your pain by giving you more pleasure. He knew his cock would hurt you before it felt good. “Sh… sh… D’ya want me to stop, princess?”
“No, no!” you cried out, nearly startling him. He felt your arms tighten round his back, as if to keep him exactly where he was. “Please don’t stop. I—I…” Tears trickled down more now, like a torrential rain over your cheek.
He stopped again, this time pulling himself out a little to prop himself up and look at you with the utmost earnestness. “Why are ya cryin’ now? I don’t wanna make you cry. Am I hurtin’ you too much?”
In truth, the physical pain of being stretched by him was not strong enough to elicit these tears. What made you cry, in fact, was the simple truth that tonight, you’d give yourself to your true love, but in a matter of days, Sir Negan would take you away from him, and you might never see him, or your father, or anyone else you loved, ever again.
To think you may never be here, like this, with him again… It broke your heart, though every cell in your body was demanding for another burst of euphoria. It was all too much emotion, too much stimulation. And yet, you’d never want him to stop. You’d like to be this way forever, if you could. If only you could.
“It’s just… Promise me…”
Furrowed brows contorted his face. He brushed the back of his hand over your cheek. “Promise ya what?” He wasn’t sure of the point of asking, as he knew that he would promise you, his lady, anything anyway. A knight’s ultimate test of chivalry, afterall, was his undying, unyielding, uncompromising devotion to his lady.
“Promise you won’t forget me.” When Negan takes me, you wanted to say, but you hesitated to even mention him at this moment, when the only man who really mattered to you was looking at you with his own tears beginning to well in his cunning blue eyes.
“I could never, ever forget you, milady.”
And he knew now what you meant. He knew the fear in your eyes, the same fear from the other night. He could feel this fear inside him, too. The fear of never seeing you again, of you being trapped in a place you could not escape from, not unlike how you’d been trapped in your own castle. Yet, this would be so much worse, for you’d be chained to that wretched, evil man, who would do God knows what to you.
But those thoughts were poisonous. “Don’t think about that now… Just feel me.” So he came into you again, just as far as he’d gotten before. “That’s it… Can you take more?”
That was all you wanted, actually. More. All you needed was him, filling you as deep as possible, taking you over and marking you as his. You’d never be Negan’s now, and that gave you a sense of power, a relief in knowing that there was at least one thing Negan could never take from you—your chastity.
“More, Daryl. Please.”
By now, he was almost all the way inside you, but he could go no further, for his own fear of hurting you too much. He pulled out a bit then, to which you grasped at his shoulders and pulled him back against you. “Where are you going?”
“Nowhere,” he laughed. “I’m just movin’. Calm down, you’re all rigid. Ease up.” Taking his words to heart, you let out a deep breath and relaxed your muscles, allowing you to settle more comfortably into the plush fur underneath you. Slowly, he pushed himself back in, your body welcoming him in with the hug of your slick tightness. “There ya go… Look, your cunt’s already gettin’ used to me. You’re takin’ it good.”
So good, in fact, that you couldn’t help but smile at the feeling—the warmth, the hardness, the fullness… The feeling of his cock sliding back and forth, but never completely leaving you. The sensation was beautiful, far more intimate than anything you’d ever imagined. When he lowered himself down again, his chest laid snug against yours, the feeling of his nipples rubbing yours hard and slow the more he thrusted. As if on their own accord, your legs loosened to lift and wrap around his lower back, taking him in just a little further. There was pain again, but not enough to hurt you. It only felt good.
He had to be careful not to move too fast, though the involuntary squeezing of your walls drew him closer to his breaking point. He could feel both your arousal and his, surrounding him inside you. But he had to make you come again, he thought. He needed to know that his cock had pleased his princess just as much as his tongue.
Your soft, whimpering moans made it clear that he was, indeed, pleasing you, your tearing pain having given way to that tingling feeling again, making your writhe and shiver underneath him.
“Daryl,” you panted. Spurred on by your pulsing body, his movements became faster, more sloppy, more passionate. Now you could really feel his size, his length digging into a particular spot that made you roll your head back against his pillow, your lips trembling and gasping for air as you spoke. “Oh, it feels so… Yes, my love, my knight… You’re so big.”
“Princess… I feel your cunt squeezing me.”
“Oh, I—I am s-sorry.”
He huffed a laugh against your cheek. “Feels good,” he said. “Keep squeezin’ me.”
He pressed a firm kiss to your cheek as his hips thrusted non-stop, now molding you to fit his cock perfectly, forever. Well, for however long you had left together.
“God, you’re soakin’ me,” he said, his voice nearly drowned out by the sound of wet skin on skin.
Your well-trained manners urged you to apologize again, but the sensation of his cock hitting into you was enough to render you speechless, except for the breathless sighs and sultry moans escaping your lips as you clawed at his shoulders, fingernails digging into his scarred flesh to nearly break open new wounds.
He continued on for a while now, though you could not tell how long he’d been thrusting, you only knew you were drowned by his mouth, his lips finding every part of your skin that he could reach in this position and leaving sloppy trails of open-mouthed kisses. That tightening and tingling within you strengthened with each movement he made, each thrust reminding you of how deep inside you he was, and how strong he was, his body weight driving the force of each hard, deep stroke.
Only when your moans had faded into heaving breaths and your body had loosened into jelly did he speak to you again, though not stopping his thrusts, as he couldn’t bring himself to even think about stopping now.
“Hey, sweetheart? You all right?”
You were hardly responsive, only opening half-lidded eyes to gape at his reddened, sweat-dripping face. His chestnut hair hung wildly, tickling your cheeks, though all you could feel was the pounding, the swelling of his cock inside you, the growing sensation of that volcano about to erupt again.
“H-hey.” You felt his hand cup your cheek as he said your name, his own voice shaky and stuttering as he began to lose his ability to keep himself in control. Tears welled up in your eyes once more, only now, they were those same tears of overwhelming, astounding satisfaction.
Stimulated to the point of near-catatonia, you were released by a sudden wave of vibrations that surged through you like electricity, bringing you back to life. Your legs clenched tight around his waist as your head shot back, exposing your strained neck. His lips did not spare you in your moaning, crying state. They attacked your neck as you pulsed all around his cock and grinded up against his pelvis by instinct. He held his hips still now, though, letting you ride the multiple waves of your intense orgasm until you shook like a leaf in a cool autumn wind beneath his strong, stabilizing body which your hands clung to desperately.
“Oh, Jesus!” was all you muster. You’d never said the Lord’s name in vain as many times as you had that night. Granted, you had never said the Lord’s name in vain before. “Christ!” Surely, you would be going to Hell.
“Shit,” the knight muttered into the crook of your neck. “I—I’m…”
Ears pounding with the sound of your heart, you could not process a word he said. You could only allow your glassy eyes to roll back as your lips formed a delirious, open-mouthed smile. “Oh, Daryl.”
He propped himself up on his bulky arms, dripping with sweat and bulging with flexed, aching muscles. As if to soothe them, you ran your hands up towards his biceps, holding onto them for dear life as he began thrusting again, almost completely inside of you.
All you could do now was smile up at him, murmuring his name, interspersed with declarations of your love and breathy moans that tortured him the closer he came to releasing himself.
“You’re so beautiful,” he panted. “You’re mine.”
“Yes,” you agreed. “Yes, yours. Forever.”
“Mine.”
With an almost helpless groan, he pulled himself completely from you, sinking down on his arms to press against you, but with his cock angled to release on your heavy stomach. Though you missed the feeling of him inside you, you moaned at the feeling of warmth near your navel, where he spilled himself onto you.
Curiosity overcame you as you looked between your bodies, watching his strange… attachment release a silky, cloudy white liquid in spurts. For a moment, your eyes widened in slight fear. Truly, you had absolutely no idea what was happening. For all you knew, he’d suddenly contracted some strange disease that caused his cock to leak a new humor.
“Wh-what is… Daryl, are you all right?”
Once again, he laughed at your innocence. “I’m just fine… Better than fine,” he said, sinking down into a deep kiss. He only parted from them for a moment to say, “That’s s’posed to happen. Did they not teach you anythin’ about sex?”
“Th-they said…” You laughed at your lack of breath. “They said my husband would show me.”
He sighed as he lifted himself off you, then rolled over onto his side. With a huff, he yanked the fur-lined blanket from underneath you, then draped it over himself and you, much to your relief, as it was cold without his naked body on top of yours.
“Your father,” he began to say, wrapping an arm around your rather limp, flimsy body to pull you close, “he wanted ya to marry my lord, didn’t he?”
A puzzled look contorted your face. “How did you know?”
“He tells me everythin’.” The touch of his calloused fingers tickled your hairline as he brushed back your bangs. “Told me the king brought us here because he thought Richard would make a good husband for you… Why didn’t you want him?”
Duke Richard hadn’t crossed your mind much since that night he first arrived, though you never thought too much about why exactly he did not attract you as much as Sir Daryl did. Now, it was quite clear.
“Because he isn’t you, my love.” A laugh escaped your lips as you settled your hand upon his chest, twisting your fingers between the hairs that intrigued you so. “The duke is… He is a good man, but you are better. That is all.”
A rosy blush blossomed on his cheeks as his mouth curled with a lopsided smile. You admired the lines in his face, the crows feet and tired bags around his adoring eyes. “He would’ve made a good husband for you.”
“Mm, perhaps.” Your pointer finger traced lines over his sharp collarbone. “Lady Michonne is rather fond of him, though. I think they make a lovely couple. Besides, my heart does not belong to him. It belongs to you.”
Shaking his head, he offered you a somber smile. “You know you can’t marry me, even if Negan didn’t want you. I’d be killed.”
“My father would not kill you.”
“You don’t know that for sure. If he… if he knew that I took you outside the walls, let alone that we—”
“We could go somewhere, someday.”
Your name fell on his lips, but you interrupted him again. “Negan will take me, I know I cannot escape that, but someday, when Alexandria is strong enough, you can find me, and we’ll go away, somewhere you’ve been on your travels. My father would understand. We could be together, we could marry. Someday.”
But you knew it was a pipe dream. You knew that, if it could ever happen, it would happen so long from now, and you could not leave your father without him knowing you were all right. It seemed as though there was nothing to stop the world from caving in. For someone who had so much power by birth, you felt so powerless, the most powerless you’d ever felt in your whole life. That was saying something, as you never truly felt in control of your own destiny. You never thought it could get worse, until now.
“You know I won’t let him take you,” he said. “Maybe we can be together like that someday, but right now, all I care about is you, not me and you.”
“But… I care about you.”
And for the first time in his life, he believed those words.
“I know you do.” Upon your forehead, he placed a chaste kiss. “Ya know, once a knight gives his heart to a lady, he can never give it to anyone else, and he’s bound to her forever.”
Of course you knew that. There wasn’t much about knights you didn’t know. If only you had as much knowledge of human sexuality as you did of knighthood, but alas.
“Does that mean you will marry me one day?”
His eyes narrowed in playful suspicion as he pretended to think it over, mumbling a pensive, “Hm…”
“Sir Daryl,” you teased, “if you do not agree to marry me, I will send you to the stocks.”
“Your highness,” he said, his arms pulling you in closer to his chest, “I promise myself to you.”
“And I, you… My sweet, brave knight.”
That evening, you did not return to the castle until the sun began to rise again. Sleeping on a straw-stuffed bed was quite the adjustment from your feather-stuffed one, but he did not let go of you, not even in his sleep, and that made all the difference to you.
Despite the uncertainty that loomed in the air all around you, the fear that settled in your heart from the moment you realized you might never see Daryl again, you had a strange, persistent sense that, someday, every night could be like this one.
Someday, you repeated in your head, lulling yourself to sleep in his arms.
But that was the future, and this was now. Now, you knew only one thing to be perfectly, virtuously true: you were his, just as he was yours.
Through life, and after death.

this came to me in a vision so I wrote a script in a feverish state, but I'm not sure when/if I'll be able to draw it???
so here's Scientist-Palmer Prom Acceptance Speech-- i.e. sexyman descendants-world equivalent of this ⬇️
Tumblr media
I used Carlos & Cecil's canon son's name from the actual podcast (besides the last name, which is conjecture). I also used No Design, for The Bit, but there are 2 very cool Cecil descendant designs on the @sexymandescendants blog! Check them out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ok here u go enjoy lol
Too-lette: [bitterly] ...and this year's winner of the title of Tumblr High Prom Tyrant is... [opening an envelope]
[shot of Spamton Jr. and Sara holding each other with anticipation]
Too-lette: ...Esteban Scientist-Palmer.
[most people in the decorated gym applaud politely]
[Sara is clapping dejectedly, while Junior sympathetically pats her shoulder]
[Too-lette is still standing on the stage alone]
Too-lette: ...
Too-lette: ...Scientist-Palmer?
[silence]
Too-lette: Is he even here?
[The crowd murmurs]
Too-lette: [moving to put the crown on her own head] Well then, maybe I should just--
[the overhead speakers suddenly blare loud feedback. Too-lette clutches the crown to her chest defensively.]
[Everyone else in the gym winces and covers their ears]
ESP: [over the intercom] ...Hello? Testing. Testing. Is this thing on?
[The crowd responds with only stunned silence]
ESP: [cheerful] ...Greetings, esteemed classmates!
ESP: This is Esteban Scientist-Palmer, speaking to you live from an unidentifiable pocket dimension!
ESP: I seem to have taken a wrong turn at some point, and wound up stuck here on my way to the dance.
ESP: I may not have had a date to stand up, but I was hoping to at least see my friends...
ESP: Speaking of-- hi guys! Take lots of pictures! And text me if you know anything about escaping places that don't exist!
ESP: Anyways, it's a good thing I never leave my house without my portable radio broadcasting equiptment.
ESP: Otherwise, I might not have been able to thank you all for voting me Prom Tyrant!
ESP: It was a great tournament, and all of my opponents were formidable warriors of popularity! This is truly an honor!
ESP: Uh... Since I'm not there to accept the crown or sash, feel free to just put them on a hasty effigy of me.
ESP: You can even ritually sacrifice it at the end of the night if you want! Man, I wish I could be there for that...
ESP: [Sighs] Alright, I really ought to get back to taking careful scientific notes of my surroundings, in hopes of using what I learn to devise an escape.
ESP: If you enjoyed this impromtu radio-jacking, consider listening to my bi-weekly podcast, available wherever you least expect it to be.
ESP: This is Esteban Scientist-Palmer, Prom Tyrant elect, signing off.
ESP: Up next: a gruesome free-for-all game of Capture The Prom Crown, because I am not physically present to defend it, and the vast majority of our school's student body is amused by things like theft and violence!
ESP: [Giggles] Don't have too much fun without me, guys! And good night, Tumblr High! Good night.
[the intercom turns off]

Tumblr media
° The Yule ball is coming very soon and even if you don't want to admit it out loud, you really wish a certain someone would ask you to be his date...
But now that Anne is being taken care of at Mungo's Hospital and agreed to see Sebastian again, he can finally see what he might have missed before. He was so obsessed by finding a cure for her that he never SAW you for who you really were. His gaze towards you has definitely changed... °
You were walking in the long hallways of Hogwarts, lost in your thoughts as your were admiring the wintery decorations between two classes. The Yule ball was in 2 weeks and the students were visibly excited for this event. But you were worried. Nobody asked you yet to be his or her date for that very special night. Remembering all the requests for the ball your friends got makes your heart aches, not from jealousy, but because you felt the weight of loneliness weighing on your shoulders.
The anxiety of your thoughts made your heart beat faster until a familiar gaze get you out of your head.
Garreth: Hello Y/N, may I ask what seems to be on your mind?
Y/N: Oh! You surprised me! Hello Garreth. And well... this is quite embarrassing.
Garreth: What could be more embarrassing than making all of your potions blow up in front of Mr. Sharp?
Y/N: Come on, at least you're trying to create new concoctions. Not everyone has that courage. And my problem is far more embarrassing! Can you believe nobody asked me to be their date to the Yule ball?
Garreth, who became really handsome with the years, looked at you with wide open eyes. He looked really shocked despite your ironic tone of voice. He struggled to keep his voice down.
Garreth: WHAT? B-but... How is that even possible? Don't tell me you are not attending?
Y/N: Well, I shall not speak too quickly on the subject. There are still two weeks left.
Garreth: I could have sworn that...
He was mumbling something you could barely hear. Suddently, he looked up to you and grabed your hand.
Garreth: Hum... We could always... well...
Then, out of nowhere, someone else snatched your hand from his.
It was Sebastian. He must have seen you from down the hallway. He looked really mad. But you could only admire how tall he became since 5th year and how hot he was when he was pissed. Your eyes met his and it made your heart race. He was still holding your hand.
Sebastian: Don't bother her Weasley.
Garreth: Well, if this isn't Sebastian Sallow. I was just about to ask a really important question to Y/N. So, if you could just leave us alone.
Sebastian: No, I don't think that will be possible. She and I have to go somewhere. It's for... our Defense Against the Dark Arts class! Miss Hecat gave us a big assignment we have to complete.
While keeping your hand in his, he led you as far away as possible from Garreth. He kept walking until he was out of sight.
Then, Sebastian stopped walking and looked at you. His gaze softened and he let go of your hand. You could see a slight blush forming on his freckled cheeks.
Sebastian: Don't tell me this absolute fool was about to ask you to be his Yule date. He just can't stop bothering you.
Y/N: I am not sure Sebastian... But it would have not been that bad.
Sebastian: What do you mean? Do you like him? Do you want to-
Y/N: Calm down! I just meant that... nobody asked me yet and it's reassuring to know that someone actually wants to go with me. Besides, even if he asked, I am not sure I would have said yes to his offer.
Sebastian: Oh. And why not? You keep talking about that ball for days now. Surely you want to attend it?
Y/N: I do. But not with him.
The words slipped out of your mouth. When you realised what you said, you couldn't help but but your hand on your lips. You just can't help but think Sebastian doesn't want to go with you or just anyone. You instantly regretted your words and you felt sick to your stomach. You just could not look at him in the eyes.
Sebastian: With who you want to go with then ?
Y/N: (You take a deep breath) Can we... talk about it another time ? Besides, I really have to go join Imelda and Poppy for my next class. See you later Sebastian.
You turned around without even waiting for an answer. As you were walking to your next class, you kept wondering why he suddently looked interested when you mentionned your wish to attend the Yule ball with a certain person. Oh Merlin, this boy made you crazy. Nothing seems to make sense in your head.
After your last class of the day, as you were heading to the common room of your House, someone stops you.
Ominis: You seem to have made quite the impact on Sebastian for some reason. He could not stop talking about you for the last hours.
Y/N: Hi Ominis. And well, he just asked me with who I wanted to attend the next ball. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Ominis: I thought he was not interested by the Yule ball. How unusual.
Y/N: Yes...indeed.
Ominis: Y/N, I hope that even thought I am blind, you are aware that I can hear the tone of your voice. What did Sebastian told you ? I am sure he went too far once again.
Y/N: Maybe not far enough this time...
Ominis: Do you want to talk about it ? I would not dare repeat your confession to Sebastian, you can trust me.
Y/N: I know I can trust you. Thank you very much Ominis. But it really is not something worth worring about.
The truth was, you were too scared to ask Ominis opinion on that matter. What if he knew Sebastian wanted nothing to do with that ball? What if he knew Sebastian asked someone else already? You did not felt ready to take that risk just yet.
Ominis: I understand. Have a great night Y/N.
Y/N: You too Ominis.
The four followings days were like every others. You attended your usual classes, you spend a majority of your time with your friends and mostly Sebastian. But he was not like his usual self. Something was troubling him but you couldn't understand what.
As you were walking out of the school with Poppy to have some fresh air, you can see from afar a familiar figure. It was Sebastian but... he was not alone. He was talking to someone.
Suddently your throat closes, your breath stops and your chest starts to hurt. He was talking with another girl... but most importantly, he seems to carry flowers in his hands.
He was giving her flowers.
Poppy looked at you and notice you were staring at them, completely frozen.
Poppy: Y/N ? Are you alright ? What is the matter ?
Y/N: Sebastian... he...
You could not contain the tears any longer. They were just flowding on your cheeks. Of course he would choose someone else. You were such a fool to think he even wanted to the Yule ball go with someone like you. He was just waiting to ask someone as fun and exciting as him to attend with him.
As you stared with tears in your eyes at them, at him, at the boy you loved, Sebastian noticed you and started walking up towards your direction. Without even controlling your moves, you bolted inside the school, leaving the poor Poppy behind, confused.
You ran to the only place you could think of.
The Undercroft
You sat on the cold floor, in this dark cave, and cried.
Y/N: If only I told him earlier! Now I just have to stand there and watch them be together and even go together to that damn ball! On Merlin I wish I never saw them.
You stopped your rant when you heard somone else enter. You quickly dried your tears and got up as fast as possible.
Y/H: Ominis, I was just-
Sebastian: Y/N ? Are you alright ? I saw you run away and I thought maybe something happened.
Y/H: Oh Sebastian. Well I...
You hate how much you still love him. You hate how much you'll have to pretend to support his futur relationship with this other girl. You just want him. Just him standing there, in front of you, makes you suffer. You are shaking and your hands are cold. Sebastian took notice of that.
Sebastian: Y/N ? What are you not telling me ? Did something happen ? Is it that damn Garreth again ? Or did y-
Y/N: Sebastian, I just needed to be by myself.
Your voice was so cold and emotionless. That took the poor Slytherin boy by surprise.
Sebastian: Did I... do something ? If I did, I am really sorry. I never meant to hurt your feelings.
You wish he could stop talking and dissapear. It was just hurting too much. He took a step closer to your as a attempt to see the expression on your face to try to understand.
Y/N: I saw you. With the other girl. I was not expecting that but congratulations Sallow! It seems like you got yourself a date for the ball.
You were trying to smile as hard as you could and pretend you were truly happy for him. But why could you feel tears running down your face.
Sebastian: W-what? No she was just... Are you crying? Y/N why are you crying?
He could not understand why you were crying. He lifted up your head to see your teary eyes and gave you a warm hug. As tight as he could possibly hold you against him.
And you hugged him back. So tight. So close to you. You almost forgot why you were here, crying in his arms. You just wish he would never let you go.
As he took at step back to look at you again, he put his big hand on the top of your head.
Sebastian: Take your time. I am here.
Y/N: Thank you Sebastian.
Sebastian: Why would you ever think I would attend the ball with that girl? Utter rubbish !
Y/N: (you smiled gently) You offered her flowers. And you seemed very close. I just assumed.
Sebastian: Oh! Oh no the flowers!
Y/N: What about them ?
Sebastian: Well, they were for you but I think I asked someone to hold them for me as I was following you here. And I asked her to pick the best flowers for me so I could give them to you. She talked about Floriography. Apparently, a flower can mean something now.
Y/N: For me? What for ?
Sebastian: I guess I should just go for it then.
Y/N: Go for what ? I am confused.
Sebastian: Y/N, I know this might change everything. I might earase everything we built together since the first time I layed my eyes on you. But please, if I am making you uncomfortable by this confession, make me aware and I will never dare to bother you again.
But I love you. I love your soft Y/E/C eyes and your long and beautiful Y/H/C hair. But most importantly, I admire your strenght and your courage. You made me a better person. So, even if you decline my feelings, I shall always be grateful for what you have done for me. I know it was never easy to deal with me. But watching you grow and become a gorgeous and strong woman made me fall even harder for you.
You were taken back by his words. You struggled to find a good answer. Maybe you thought for too long about your answer because you saw Sebastian having a look of panic on his face.
Sebastian: I am so sorry, I should have told you in a better place than the Undercroft. I know this might be disappointing but-
Y/N: I love you too.
Sebastian: Y-you do?!
Y/N: I thought it was obvious. I am head over heels for you Sebastian Sallow. Since the day I beated you on that duel we had. Since the day you took my to Hogsmeade. Since... always. I wanted to go with you to the Yule ball. I only wanted you.
Sebastian: I... Oh Merlin! I understand now! I am so sorry I waited that long. Would you please make me the great pleasure to be my date ?
Y/N: I thought you would never ask.
As you were giggling, he cupped your face with his hands. He was so close to your face, you could actually count the freckles on his face.
Sebastian: May I kiss you ?
Y/N: Mh mh
As your lips touched, you put your hand on his chest. He was pulling you closer to deepened the kiss.
As you finally gently pull away from him, you watched his face. He was so red and obviously breathing really fast.
Sebastian: I...
Y/N: So...we shall see eachother at the ball then.
Sebastian: I cannot wait.
Some days passed and you were shopping with Poppy and Natty for a dress at Hogsmade.
As you were passing by Augustus Hill’s classy Gladrags Wizardwear boutique, you noticed the multiple dresses he was selling inside. You were so excited to pick the perfect dress.
Natty: I really want a red dress ! Or maybe a yellow one ! I really can't chose.
Poppy: I am wondering if they are selling purple dresses. I think I saw one on this hanger right there.
Y/N: I am still not sure about the color I want. Maybe one that represents the color of Y/H ?
Natty: Or maybe a dark green for you? So you could match Sebastian?
Poppy: That would be such a nice suprise! How romantic!
You giggled at the thought of Sebastian's reaction. Then, Natty looked at you with a sly look.
Natty: Soooo, you and Sebastian hu? Are you two together ? Is he finally your boyfriend ?
Y/N: Natty!
Natty: I am joking Y/N. Of course I know the answer. It is quite obvious.
Y/N: Well, to be honest he confessed and asked me to be his date but... He didn't ask me yet to be his girlfriend.
Poppy: Oh Merlin! No way!
Natty: Maybe he is keeping that special question for a special event.
You never really thought about it. You both were just like a couple. But he never officially asked you to be his lover. So, are you both really together ?
The followings days were really busy with all the preparations and the shopping you had to do. You were really happy with the dress you chose. It was green, like Natty suggested. A satin look with some really stunning matching gloves. Those were really expensive and it was showing.
Tumblr media
The day before the Yule ball, you received an owl from Sebastian.
His message said:
"My dearest, Y/N, This sheet of paper, though I should cover it with loving words, could never tell you truly how I long to see you again in your evening gown. I heard a lot about it from Natty and Poppy. Tomorrow, let's meet at the bottom of the stairs, after the big door. The room will be crowded but I will always recognize you among everyone. Unchangeably yours, Sebastian Sallow"
Y/N: How sweet of him. Maybe I should write something back. Let's see...
"Dear Sebastian,
Your affectionate letter was most welcome. I won’t tell you where I keep it, but I dare say you will guess that it is not very far from my heart. I need not inform you, for you know it well, that you have my entire and undivided affection, and that I look forward seeing you at the Yule ball too. I hope Poppy and Natty didn't tell you too much about my dress. I leave you the surprise of discovering it tomorrow evening. I love you. Ever yours, Y/N"
As you sent your owl on its way to Sebastian, you felt your heart speed. You wonder if adding "I love you" on your letter was maybe too much. After all, you were not officially a couple. But at least he knows how you felt.
The next day came very quickly and you could see all of the girls in your room jump out of their bed to get ready, apply their makeup and do their hair. Seeing them so anxious made you start getting ready early too. Some of them helped you to do your eye makeup.
As you were putting your heals on, someone taps gently on your shoulder.
Y/N: Anne!!!
Anne: I am so please to see you Y/N. It's been a while since the last we spoke to eachother.
You couldn't help but put your arms around her to hug her. You were so glad he was looking better.
Y/N: What are you doing here ?
Anne: What does it look like silly? I am attending the Yule ball!
Y/N: What a sweet surprise. Did you already talk to Sebastian? And with who are you attending?
Anne: No no, I'll see Sebastian at the ball, it's a surprise. And my date for tonight is Ominis. He asked me some days ago and I could not reject his offer.
Anne was already wearing her gown for the ball. It was a really beautiful yellow dress with puffy sleeves. She was wearing her hair down and a pretty red color on her lips. She looked very elegant and chic. You could see she curled her hair with rollers for the occasion.
Y/N: You are so pretty! I love your gown. Yellow really suits you.
Anne: Thank you. I heard you were Sebastian's date for tonight?
Y/N: Oh hum...well I-
Anne: Don't worry, I am really glad he chose you. He explained everything to me in his most recent letter. I am truly happy for him and for you.
Y/N: Thank you so much. It means a lot.
Anne: Do you want me to help you get ready? Do you need help with your corset?
Y/N: Yes please.
Anne helped you putting on your dress. As you were ready, she went on to join Ominis.
You felt really nervous. You were hoping not to trip or step on Sebastian's toes during the dance. You had to be perfect for your futur boyfriend !
You got out of the common room and started walking towards the hall. A few people were also on their way.
You arrived in front of the big doors, opened them and stood at the top of the stairs, admiring the crowd of people already there. You were trying to scan the room to see where Sebastian was.
There he was, at the bottom of the stairs, also scanning the room. You called his name and he turned his head in your direction. His eyes widened. He could not stop looking at you as you descended the stairs.
Y/N: Good evening Sebastian. You are really handsome tonight.
Sebastian: Wow
Y/N: *giggles* I'm guessing you appreciate my outfit.
Sebastian: You are shining tonight. You are the brightest star in the sky. I am at loss for words. You've never been more elegant. Y/n: Thank you so much Sebastian.
As the music started playing, Sebastian led you to the middle of the huge ballroom. He looked like he knew what he was doing. He was leading the dance.
Y/N: Where did you learn to dance? You are a very good dancer! Sebastian: I have my own secrets Y/N. And you are not bad yourself. *grins*
He had one hand on your hip and the other was in your hand. One of your hand was on his chest. He kept looking at you in the eyes and smiling. His gentle brown eyes in yours felt like you two were the only one in the room.
As the dance came to an end, Sebastian and you kept dancing until your feet hurt. After that, you went to join Ominis who was standing further away.
Ominis: Ah there you both are. Are you having a good time? Sebastian: The time of my life. Ominis: The night is still young. Something else might be happening tonight. Sebastian: What do you mean by that?
As he asked that question, a gentle hand tapped his shoulder.
Anne: Maybe I should have helped you instead. You didn't flattened your hair properly. Sebastian: Anne!
He turned around and hugged her. He looked like her was holding her a little bit too thightly because Anne's face turned a reddish color.
Sebastian: Would you do me the honor of granting me the next dance? Anne: Only if your date agrees. Y/N: Of course! Please do. I'm going to take some fresh air in the meantime. It's really hot here!
As you went outside, you noticed how beautiful the sky was. There were so many stars tonight. Amit would have loved it. You were the only one standing outside. You lost yourself in your thoughts remembering how handsome Sebastian was tonight.
Garreth: who would dare to leave his date alone on such a special evening?
You did not hear Garreth approach. You felt silly standing there all alone.
Y/N: Oh, Hello Garreth. You always catch me wandering in my thoughts. And I just wanted some fresh air. Now i'm starting to think it might be a bit cold outside. Garreth: Oh! Where are my manners, please take my suit jacket. I don't want this pretty face to catch a cold. *he puts his suit jacket on your shoulders* Y/N: Thank you very much. You look really dashing tonight by the way. Garreth: You really look like a princess. You know, I have to admit something. Y/N: I surely hope it's not about a potion again. Garreth: No, not this time. But to be honest with you, I really wanted you to be my date for the Yule ball. I guess Sebastian was just quicker to invite you. Y/N: Oh. Garreth I am so sorry. Garreth: Please don't be sorry. But I do have a question. Dare I? Y/N: Please tell me, it's the least I can do for you. Garreth: Are you and Sallow a couple? Y/N: Oh... well no. Not really but- Garreth: Finally something I could beat him to.
Garreth quickly turned his face towards yours and put his hand behind your head. Everything happened so fast but...
He was kissing you.
He was almost rough with the kiss. Your eyes were still opened as you were trying to realize what was happening. But even before you had the time to do so, the kiss ended abruplty.
Sebastian: WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING WEASLEY?! SHE IS MINE!
Garreth didn't even have time to answer when Sebastian pushed him hard enough for him to fall heavily to the ground.
I was not good at all. You had to stop him before he starts anything he might regret later.
Y/N: Sebastian stop it! Leave him alone, it was just a misunderstanding. It's not his fault. Let him go! Please...
Sebastian turned around to look at you. I made you shake with fear. You had chills down your spine. The he looked at Garreth again.
Sebastian: Get the **** out of here before I make you suffer a fate much worse than being crucioed.
As Garreth went back inside, Sebastian got closer to you.
Sebastian: As for you, you have some explaining to do. Y/n: I sincerely apologize. I think I gave him the wrong idea but I never wanted to... I never wanted anything with him. Sebastian: I know. But what made him think he could kiss you? Y/N: Well... he asked me if we were together. I simply told him the truth. You never asked me to be your girlfriend. I was about to tell him we loved eachother but he just kissed me before I could explain the situation. Sebastian: Oh. So I guess it's my fault for not asking you to be entirely mine clearly. I apologize for losing my temper. And I apologize for this confusion. I'm not used to romance and relationships. Y/N: I'm sorry... I wanted to talk to you about it for some time but I didn't have the courage. Sebastian: You are the thing I dread the most in myself, Y/N, because I love you so much that I can’t trust myself. I’d die for you, give up all my power for you. I’d give you my soul in an instant, even if it meant I had to spend eternity in torment just for one moment with you as mine. So please, will you be my girlfriend? Y/N: In my eyes, nothing would be more precious to me than to be yours. Of course I want to be girlfriend.
The end.

I, of course, was orphaned after leaving the SPN fandom, and got into Teen Wolf because of the gifsets. Teen Wolf was on it's second season by then, so I had to binge season 1 to catch up.
It was so much fun!! It was really the last time I felt connected to a big fandom! We would all liveblog the episodes (RIP to my SPN followers who were annoyed with me for not tagging it), we'd argue about whether or not Allison should apologise, we'd yell about the treatment of black and brown characters, and then the Scott vs Derek war happened and we all yelled at each for MONTHS.
I think THAT is when the phrase "Defense Squad" started. I never saw it in use in the fandom before then, but we were definitely splintered off into camps at that point.
I remember the beginnings of Failwolf Friday. Pink Undies Sunday. Who first wrote the phrase "Derek lets his eyes bleed red" to indicate that Derek's eyes changed colour? I don't know but that pioneer lives on in every Sterek fic (because we all stole that phrase immediately).
Also we had knotting BEFORE omegaverse became a thing, and without any of the weird gender rules.
lol i was on ontd_spn too and followed the mass fandom migration to tumblr.
teen wolf fandom is important to the history of fandom culture on this god forsaken webbed site in large because it was a fandom that took off after the large livejournal migrations and the end of the closed fan forum. we had no where else to go to interact and twitter always has and will always suck at being a place for fandom.
i also started watching in s2. i binge watched all of s1 in a night at my then job and was right on time to join fandom right when abomination aired.
i loved supernatural but i cannot emphasize how hard it was to break into that fandom. one thing about livejournal i never cared for was how easy it was for cliques to form and if you didn't befriend the right person your meta, your fics or your discussion thoughts went into a black fucking hole.
at least on tumblr there was a higher chance of engagement. your posts would be in the main tag and if you by chance got reblogged by someone with a higher follower count you would then get more followers. meta would be passed around and developed with additions and commentary by others. it was so much fun.
gif sets were a new method of communication of ideas. we could easily do parallels, create visual au's and just generally engage in a new but fun and interesting way.
tumblr leveled the playing field in a lot of ways for smaller creators.
of course the old fandom ways of shipping wars and rivalries happened too and even now a decade later there's still division in the teen wolf fandom but sometimes i got to like the subreddit and i'm like "bro we had this discussion in 2013. this is a settled matter!"

So I was reading a bunch of your anon asks about R/L (not spelling out names so this doesn't show up in searches lol) and I agree with that anon that said the fandom forgets that GRRM is not some woke author. Way too many metas are written on the premise that he wrote this series with the sensibilities of a 20-something millennial and not a 50 year old man who conceived most of these plot points in the 90s. The refusal for certain fans/theorists (not including you in this I find your analysis and critiques very good and thoughtful) to call out and critique Martin's deeply problematic elements frustrates me to no end. It's okay to say certain things did not age well and the R/L/E dynamic is chief among them. Giving R's wife a gratuitously sexually violent death and a gratuitously gruesome death to her baby and toddler did not age well. Then proceeding to shit on her by having her husband's family's loyalists state that she was sickly and not good enough for him did not age well. Then proceeding to spend five books with those same characters depicting R as the Westerosi Prom King/Football Quarterback/Prodigal Son with basically zero substantial or significant pushback did not age well. I keep on seeing people say, 'Well, no it's because it's all a part of George's Big Plan and Reveal and an example of the the POV trap so don't get preemptively mad at him.' The defense of him essentially being 'No, you guys don't get it...he's going to perfectly execute the story that only exists in mine and his head for 12 years and counting and then you will see how he always meant for R to be a POS and for R/L not to be some star crossed lovers romance.' Yeah, no. I'm not giving him credit for an unfinished story and the fact that some of his fans do this is baffling. We're at this point that even if Martin does reveal R was even a little morally grey, a subset of the fandom will continue defending him like their lives depend on it because they are so married to their headcanons because Martin has not provided any actual content in over a decade (the show whitewashing did not help either). I'm not even going to broach the subject of the white feminist pickmes in the fandom that do everything and anything to defend Lily White Lieanna from any accountability and pushback from her complicitness in what happened because that's a whole other can of worms. LOL. End of my rant I guess. lmao.
My aunt who is around the same age as Martin, wanted to watch Saturday Night Fever with me (I had never seen it). She remembered and loved the music, the dancing, the costumes, the pain of these characters who were trapped and looking for an escape. There were all these good things she wanted to share with me, but I was shocked by how casually they threw in a rape, and how cruel the protagonist was to the girl right after it happened. I could not understand how my liberal, well educated, very up with social norms, aunt wasn't as appalled as I was when she'd last seen it. But she had watched that movie when it came out, hadn't seen it since, so her reaction to it had been fixed in that moment. Like a time capsule.
That happened years ago, but anytime a discussion about R/L and what Martin would/wouldn't do comes up, I think about that, and I try to draw a line between my sensibilities and what he actually wrote because as you and my other anon point out, R/L was conceived in a certain moment, in a specific milieu, and it isn't the one we're currently in. So, while I certainly don't think Rhaegar is the guy that Targ fans believe him to be, I no longer believe Martin intends us to take the other extreme.
Rhaegar called the place where he took Lyanna "the tower of joy," and Martin would have to want us to think Rhaegar is a truly sadistic bastard if that's what he called the place he repeatedly, forcibly raped Lyanna. Considering what Martin has said about how he wants to write morally grey characters, how he has written Cersei, Tyrion, the Hound...I just don't buy that that's where he's going, not anymore.
More broadly, I’ve read a lot of literary analysis, I know how easy it is for people to write really, really interesting essays that I love, but in actually, have absolutely nothing to do with the book/poem etc that it’s discussing. It’s a beautiful thing that we each experience art uniquely, but it does mean we have to be careful when it comes to actually believing what we takeaway from something is the same as what they put in. There’s also a danger in thinking loving the art means we understand the artist’s mind. The same mind can produce something I love and something I hate. Experience that enough times and you realize, you can’t put parameters, a would/wouldn’t, on where they’ll take things.
And, even hardcore Martin fans acknowledge the racist issues with his writing, criticize how he sexualizes little girls...I don't think any of us need to defend him. We all know that these are issues with his writing, we may not agree that they will manifest in the worst way going forward, but it's possible. Unfortunately.
