Hello, what's your thoughts on FrUK?

Hello! FrUK? I do like it in Hetalia! I am a multishipper, so I ship both characters with others, France mostly with Scotland and England mostly with Portugal. But I do like some good FrUK content!

It seemed weird at first for me to ship those two. After all, we and the English have always been at odds, save for more recent times. We (mostly the Normans but shh) were the reason why the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms were disestablished. The Hundred Years War legit almost made us English lands (imagine, the nightmare!). We fought over dominance in Europe, in America, in Africa. They were part of coalitions against us. Anyway, it took Germany for us to be allies, literally. We got closer only because another country threatened us both. After we reconciled with the Germans, while we've never gone to war with the English again, we still got this rivalry. So, to me, England and France would barely be able to tolerate each other and would not miss a snide remark when they could. They wouldn't trust each other on most stuff.

To me, they would be sworn enemies. However, I do see why one would ship it, and the Hetalia fandom has managed to make me ship it :)

Imagine you grew up side by side with someone. You might have fought with them most of the time, but constantly being by that person, you'd grow to know them, right? You'll grow to know, care for, and long for them. You won't bear to lose them. You would see that person so many times that if you didn't see or hear from them, it would feel weird, and you'd rather see them again, even if it was to fight. It's this sort of relationship where the only person who can fight them is you, and you wouldn't tolerate anyone else to fight them. That's basically the World Wars for you.

They're not domestic material. Totally not. They fight because they like to. They know each other's ugliest sides anyway, so what can go wrong? At the end of the day, they can't really hold a grudge. They've done equally wrong to each other.

Plus, I like the drama side of the two. From the Hundred Years to the fights for the colonies in the Americas. All leading to both realising how much they care about each other during the World Wars. But lest we forget they're still rivals! They CAN still "fight", and they will disagree on so mcuh, as seen with Suez or Brexit.

It's such an interesting ship with a deep history. It's also my introduction to enemies to lovers tropes. They're not my favourite ship, but I like them, and I see why so many would ship it.

Okay so I’m gonna ramble about names here cuz it interests me a lot. Obv I’m not Greek or in Greece I just have a deep interest in other cultures and like to research a lot and stalk forums and videos on experiences etc. My ideas may change over time as I learn more about the culture. He feels a bit more old-fashioned to me but anyways yeah nah if I happen to say anything innacurate plz lmk @ anyone who actually reads my word vomit haha

So anyways I def don’t see it as my place to bash on him being given the name "Herakles" cuz I Do know that in Greece they would seem to occasionally give Greek mythological names to ppl (ex: singer who's birth name is Artemios); but I noticed they most often use Christian names tho (also fun fact my irl name is the fem version of an old Greek saint and seems common there along with Hispanic countries that would often do the same lololol)

But at the same time I’d wanna assume that being named Herakles would kinda fuck u over since it would be a huge name to live up to. But that’s just me. Plus to me that adds to his overall life theme

Also I’ve mentioned this before but ppl for years would dunk on his surname claiming that it's "not a real Greek surname" when ... it actually IS, it's just super rare based on what I’ve collected. Admittedly ngly I’ve even been a part of this when I was a kid smh (See: Greek actress with the birth name Evgenia Karpouzi, the fandom would always use the spelling "Karpusi" but that's not language accurate to the more commonly taught Greek language romanization based on what I’ve learned.....

Anywho now onto headcanons and stories I like to apply to him lol

He seems the type whose mom is very huge in the historical arts and preservation field and might've been a Greek history professor and took a huge role in curating and preserving Ancient Greek ruins and artifacts...arranged heritage festivals and exhibitions etc.. Taught culture... Maybe pushed him to be very talented and knowledgeable as a kid and would actively pass down her own knowledge onto him and set pretty high standards for him while also spoiling tf out of him and also being caring yet not as present as a mother due to her career. He grew up very involved in the arts both creative-based and performance-wise but probably mostly the latter. He seems like the type who would be quiet and a bit of a loner at times but was also a lot more enthusiastic and expressive at times.

So anyways yeah not only does he suffer under the curse of living in the shadow of his mothers legacy and not meeting the public expectations in following in her footsteps but a lot of his life is basically formed around her and he wasn’t left with much room to actually form his own personal style due to how heavily influenced he was by her own interest and life path and her passing when he was idk 14 made it even harder for him to even try to let go of any of this cuz besides all of her leftover belongings and the collective community memory of her, it was all he had left of her from within himself so letting go of any of it to make more room for developing his own personal sense of style outside of her existence felt like betraying her or going against her wishes.

He feels deeply guilty for not taking on her legacy after her passing and following in her footsteps but he still does what he can to contribute here and there and still holds a load of pride in what he learns from her + what comes from his roots and besides hanging out with and feeding street cats he still has a lingering fascination and interest in philosophy and observing and maintaining historical sites not only cuz it’s great but also cuz it reminds him of her. It Would also make sense given how canonically he’s portrayed having a home that’s cluttered with his mom’s old things and artifacts that he never wants to get rid of since she passed while he was young.

As for his beef with Sadiq I see it as a ‘obnoxious goofy uncle and petty nephew’ sort of conflict lol. But I like to see it as like. Sadiq was a younger college student of his mom’s who would also do volunteer assistant work for her, so naturally he’d meet Herakles thru that. And with him being that type of guy would screw around with Herakles and poke fun at him yk like how those older guys would treat young kids sometimes and purposely provoke them in a joking yet annoying manner (I have lots of experience of this) and Sadiq himself never saw it as a big deal but yk Herakles Hated that shit and he’s the type to take that kind of stuff to heart. Also Herakles would envy the time he spends with his mom cuz here he is able to get involved with her work life and meanwhile Hera is being some kid at home who sometimes gets to go to his moms work sometimes.

And ooomfg when his mom passes u know damn well that envy turned into pure vitriol cuz Sadiq was able to spend more time around his mom before her sudden death. But Sadiq (still unaware of how deep this shit goes for Herakles) takes Herakles under his wing cuz he feels super bad to say the least.

Now Herakles has one of those large Greek families but he’s autistic* as shit so while he can be loud with them he’s also quiet and a bit of a loner at times so he’d be super reliant on his mother for initiating his interactions with others and she’d take a big part in involving him in family gatherings so u know damn well the second she was gone he didn’t know wtf to do anymore or how to connect with others on his own without her being an extra support lol yk like that one social person that helps interactions go smoother.

* yes I am aware that autism may present differently depending on culture but I’m autistic myself and am basing this on observations I’ve made thru autistic ppl I’ve known in different countries and who also have a similar familial dynamic culturally. Even tho I’m in the US I also have this experience myself with my Viet family members. No duh it’s not ‘just an autism thing’ but yk headcanons

Not to mention him being depressed as fuck over her passing and beginning to self isolate. And being so pitied by family members 24/7 SUCKED Ass so idk ig eventually (after many years and moments of Herakles mostly blowing people off) ppl began to avoid him and stopped inviting him to things like yk that sad thing that often happens whenever someone’s going thru a loss and ppl don’t know what to do about it. He’d ignore their invitations often for years. Of course they’d still try to call or send something or visit every now and then but only very occasionally. It’s like an ‘idk what to do’ sort of thing.

So yeah he’s an only child and was raised by a single mother with a busy and active life where he was always expected to become her shadow whether intended or not. Wow. But despite his family inching away from him, bro still has that younger Cypriot cousin who vibes with him and relates with his quietness and occasional loner behavior so he’d often hang around him cuz the rest of the family would overwhelm him sometimes, therefore even during this time he was the last to stick around for the most part and they’d often hang out in silence. He is a bit more chatty than Herakles tho at times. Idk his name yet. That one Cypriot cousin has a younger brother I think, who’d hang around Sadiq but Herakles’s a #hater and doesn’t really like him for that. He’s the type to threaten to cut ppl off from association and he gets petty and stubborn as hell and holds grudges like u cannot believe. Obviously despite his spite he does still care for Sadiq deep down. He says what he wants but he doesn’t actually wish the guy any real harm and would get super bothered and upset if anybody were to attempt to do so.

Oh yeah and I also mentioned before that I see him being narcoleptic lol *maybe* he occasionally dealt with cataplectic symptoms and it would make sense given how rarely he seems to express strong emotions but I still don’t know. I’m not as knowledgeable in cataplexy I admit. But he’s def on the narcolepsy spectrum and lacks a load of motivation and drive in his life overall. Some of it comes from his mildly nihilistic view on life and some of it is depressiveness and the inability to help himself more on his own accord. It probably took a lot for him to get on a stricter medication routine for it. He tries to take care of himself at the bare minimum but he still doesn’t quite cultivate the best or healthiest of habits. He’s often got others around him trying to help him out and check up on him. Think also of the comic strips of Ludwig trying to help him organize and clean his house and get his finances into check.

Idk how his mom died. Maybe it’s one of those things never spoken about but it was sudden and he was at home when it happened and just remembers it getting super late and dark and him wondering where tf she is each time he’d wake up and him attempting to call her work and go to voicemail each time.

Also back on the topic of his tendencies but Herakles can for sure be the sore loser and jealous type but only depending on whether or not the matter involves Sadiq. Otherwise he’s like eh whatever it’s fine I’ll get it next time) and as I said above he’s also got a somewhat nihilist mindset and wishes to just spend his time doing as he pleases lolll his philosophical info dumps would get mind breaking at times and he just drones onnnn and onnnn and on about it it’s like the kind of stuff that’d make u lie on ur back with ur hands behind ur head staring up at the sky like “yeah……..wow…😕” and would prob put u to sleep cuz he speaks in a slower and softer tone. And you’d prob experience a strange yet vivid dream in the moment. He’s got an ambient and nostalgic feel to his presence that’s hard to explain and melancholy yet oddly calming.

Oh also he still practices Orthodox Christianity besides being an atheist on the most part and not even following any religion or religious rules or moral code bc it’s what he was raised doing with his mom and he feels like it’s what she would’ve wanted lmfaooo I guess it’s for nostalgia’s sake and paying respects to her. Maybe he’s an atheist. Idk. Perhaps his philosophical ideals and stuff he’s learned influences his view on general spirituality and religion so in a way he feels like in the end all gods are all to reach a similar point and intention and are an outer extension/projection of our own subconscious beings and are vessels of hope and focal points for moral code and explanations for the world around us. Or maybe he just views them as beings created to give people’s lives purpose. Or he believes all things at once. Who knows what goes on in his mind.

As for his narcolepsy, his mom may have assumed at first that he was the type of child to nap a lot or that he was lazy, but over time she’d realize something is probably up and would recognize that he wouldn’t be able to help it most of the time and that he actually isn’t the lazy type and works hard when he can. She’d get called by teachers often yelling about his tendency of zoning out and sleeping in class and she’d just respond with “Oh yeah? Well maybe your class isn’t interesting enough if he’s always falling asleep in it!”

So yeah. A load of his life was built around her from the start, and he relied on her for a lot, I mean she’s his mom and all too and the only closer(?) family member in his life given that he’s an only child and has no father. The sudden change of her leaving completely threw his life off course so for years he’s been in some sort of endless state of limbo where he’s both apathetic both saddened yet he might not make it so obvious when around others. He just appears quiet, apathetic and carefree for the most part.

Ok so, the main reason this drawing even came to being was only because I was listening to this exact same song on repeat for hours and scrolling through Pinterest until I found a reference I liked and therefore decided that I wanted to draw Tolys and Feliks like this. That’s basically it.

Now you COULD put some symbolism in there that ties back into the lyrics and into the AU itself — that I thought of for like 10 seconds and promptly forgot about. The basic premise is the hetalia characters but in a polish high-school setting bc honestly why not. I like to play with characters like dolls lmao.

But yeah, the first few lines of the song talk about an unhappy breakup, and can you guess what I connected that to??? Why of course — the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and how it later fell apart blah blah blah. Tying that into the drawing itself you could interpret that as Feliks and Tolys being together for a while and then breaking up. Later on I think they are in like a constant situationship-ish situation that neither of them can really fully navigate or grasp because what the fuck is going on being a teen in a shitty high school is hard okay. They’re still friends and close tho, obviously.

Arno and France would… uuuhhh… they probably would have a hard time getting on since France’s personality might not mesh well with Arno’s personality if this was after the game. During the revolution though, Arno would probably think France is simply one of many who got swept into the revolution.

England would absolutely be annoyed by Edward.

How do you deal with the toxicity in the fandom? It's getting hard to be here.

Yeah a lot of people suck. I just don't visit tags at all anymore. I'm going to be honest I haven't since some time last year. I follow people that I like and I know are not drama whores and I get my reblog content from them ethically. I block anyone I see making call out posts or stupid call to actions against people. Or shoving current SERIOUS real life politics into Hetalia (a major peeve of mine. and emphasis on serious because of course jokes on funny current events are fine but it's the serious stuff that really sets a fire in me. Like the current wars for example.) You just gotta do what you gotta do to keep your mental health good tbh. I've noticed some people leaving lately due to people not minding their own business and harassing others, people that I actually liked and that's really annoying. I just don't understand why some people in this fandom have to be so vindictive and insufferable it's sad honestly. Do they not get tired? They have to because listening to some of these people is EXAUSTING! So many people on the outside hate the Hetalia fandom for what some weirdos did 10ish years ago. I don't know why some people feel the need to start drama and fights for NOTHING. Honestly, he appreciated your strength and resilience… especially against Ace since that little stinker tends to get into a lot of trouble. You both often clashed heads, and Cater has been there to record and post it on his Magicam.

Speaking of, this is after you get over your camera shyness. You told him that you didn’t think you were very photogenic, and he just told you that you needed to learn how to get in touch with your good side. So, he takes this opportunity to help lead you and get closer to you.

What he wasn’t expecting was you not knowing how to smile. Everyone knew how to smile! Well, everyone except you, apparently. So he went online and searched up ways to make people smile. One thing came up, and he was excited to try it.

The next morning, you woke up to your doorbell ringing. You opened it to see Cater standing there with a bouquet of flowers that he picked up at Sam’s shop, and the kind gesture made you smile. He let out a cheer as he squealed about how he finally got the smile out of you, and you laughed at his antics.

Ruggie Bucchi

You reminded him a lot of the women of his homeland: fierce people who were usually warriors and soldiers. In addition to this, he was a total simp for you and you didn’t even know it yet. When he saw how resourceful you were, it was over for him. He was down on his knee and holding a ring in his hand.

When he visits home, it upsets him when he writes so many letters to his parents about you but he has no pictures of you to show them how beautiful you were. So, he asked if he could take a picture of you, but you said no since you didn’t know how to smile.

Now, he has put many smiles on people’s faces within his life thus far, so he was confident in his abilities to bring one to yours. Ruggie decided that there was no gift like freshly prepared and well-made food to make you smile, so he set to work.

The hyena decided to surprise you on the way to lunch, since you both liked walking together to the cafeteria on days where Leona went to classes in-person. He handed you a container filled with a nice, warm meal, and you smiled at the kind gesture. He quickly snapped a picture, putting it as his lock-screen and homescreen, just so he can always be reminded of you.

Floyd Leech

Yeah, he fell in love with you when you attacked him with the boat paddle you always carried the first time he tried to give you a big squeeze. No one had ever fought back as bravely as you did, so he fell and he fell hard. 

There was one time where he asked why you never smiled, and he was shocked to learn that you simply didn’t know how. So now he was an eel on a mission: Operation Make Y/N Smile or Die Trying. He did thorough research, too.

He first tried to tell jokes, but a lot of them were really cheesy and dumb. Not really smile material, rather getting a huff out of your nose at the most. He was getting frustrated, and that got him in a bad mood for the entirety of the day. Not even you could cheer him up.

Eventually, you were fed up with his attitude and confronted him about it. He explained why he was upset, and that was enough to get you to laugh. This brightened his mood significantly as he exclaimed loudly about finally being able to see your smile.

Kalim Al-Asim

Mans tries to be friends with everyone, so it was no surprise that he tried to be friends with you. He thought you were interesting, since you were the only student without magic in a school full of students that have a natural affinity towards magic. He applauded your determination and diligence within your academics, and looked up to you because of it.

However, he noticed that he had never seen you smile, and it was very disheartening. So, he decided to try and make you laugh. He noticed that him spoiling you didn’t really make you smile, but you were still grateful for it all.

He tried jokes, wearing a really weird outfit, smiling at you whenever you both saw each other, but nothing was working. Kalim wasn’t discouraged, though. He became even more determined whenever his attempts failed.

Now, he was down to his last idea. He took you on a magic carpet ride. And lo and behold, there was a smile on your face as you both flew through the sky. You felt as though if you reached above you, you could touch the moon, and the breeze that ran across your skin was just heavenly. Kalim was glad to know that this made you smile, since he would love to do it more often.

Vil Schoenheit

You had a resilience that he admired. You weren’t a pushover, and you didn’t let anyone walk all over you. Vil has seen you beat both Ace and Epel since they decided to underestimate you very often.

When you both got into a relationship, he wanted to take at least one picture of you so he can be reminded of you during a stressful day at work. That is when you admitted to him that you didn’t know how to smile.

Vil had a bit of an idea of what he could do. You watched as he went through his entire vanity looking for the softest but functional brushes that he owned, along with his best skincare products. You see, his goal was to tickle you while getting you ready for the photo.

genuine question from someone who’s been following for 5 years now and has long since left the hetalia fandom but still loves your art to bits - are spain and romano related? because you do ship art if i’m not wrong, and from what i remember in the show it depicts spain adopts romano, yet in the later seasons they’re treated as the same age. what’s up with that, if you don’t mind answering??? is it a fandom thing that we’re never gonna get an answer to????

Short answer: In my personal perception and canon I’ve been creating of hetalia since I've joined the fandom, they are not.

Below is a more rambly long answer

Long answer: It doesn’t make sense for them to be, and I personally always hated that aspect of the manga/show with Romano being so much younger (doesn’t make fucking sense) and with people equating them to be brothers bc Spain asks him to call him that (cringe, but to me it never meant that he saw Romano as a brother figure, just an underling, but still it's all so cringe).

Hima is a freak and I don’t agree with a lot of stuff he put into Hetalia, but unfortunately this has become my hyper-fixation from a young age, so its been really hard for me to abandon this ship. I've been mentally tossing around the shit that comes with liking hetalia and how people see me for interacting with it, and it is one of the main reasons I’ve stopped making content for it for so long.

bc I can’t defend it, some shit in hetalia is just straight up bad. But over the years I’ve found people that think like me and also developed these better stories/relationships/ideas than Hima could, and together we had developed something that’s good with characters and an idea that was unfortunately poorly executed imo

There will always be people that do see them as siblings and honestly that ok because at this point it seems that hetalia is what certain people want it to be, that’s why I’m starting to put out my own head canons on the beginning of everything and such. I try not to interact w that stuff just bc that’s not something I agree with, but again people will do as people will.

But yeah I personally hate the incest, the gross pedo shit, and the poor take on whole World War Two situation, and the racism. And generally try to avoid interacting with people in the fandom that support those things.

Hi @hwsevents I'm late I learned about mythtalia march today weee but ah well I merged Tannhäuser and Hetalia. Hopefully the Pope's staff blooms flowers and I get forgiven unlike Tannhäuser.

For slight background, Tannhäuser is an old Germanic myth about Venusberg. In the mythology, all the old pagan gods have retreated into a subterranean world when Christianity overpowered and replaced them. A man, referred to as Tannhäuser, is tasked with guarding the entrance to the subterranean world to ensure the pagan gods do not return to the land. In some versions of the legend, Tannhäuser fails his task and is seduced by the goddess Venus and pulled into the subterranean world (sometimes his memories are fogged and he forgets the world above, less commonly this doesn't happen and he's just fully okay with going to Venusberg). One day, Tannhäuser successfully makes an escape and goes to Rome to ask the pope for forgiveness which in any version never goes well.

Anyway, here's my poke of fun at the beginning of Wagner's version of Tannhäuser:

The mist sunk into the ground around the quiet grotto… all was peaceful. If you considered bathing naiads, sirens flopping around on the grotto edges, a group of dancing nymphs and centaurs very peaceful. Honestly Arthur didn't know why or how he'd fallen asleep in this person's lap. Especially with this whole chaos around him.

Then, suddenly, Arthur snapped upward. You know he'd just had the most awful dream where he was… somewhere… a whole lot different than this place. Yeah. This place made him feel super misplaced. He couldn't quite recall why the dream made him so sad but it made his whole being shudder and he thanked the Lord that the dream was over.

A hand grabbed his shoulder and Arthur jumped. "Wha-"

The hand pulled him backwards, back into their lap, and then he heard the person speak… "Tell me, beloved, what's wrong?"

Oh… Francis? What the hell was Francis doing here— oh! Yes, he recalled. Francis was the… uh… god of love? Yeah, something like that. Arthur nodded to himself in confirmation. It made sense that Francis was Venus.

"I had this terrible dream," he said.

"Tell me about it?"

"Sure. I remembered the sound of church bells… voices, of people I think I once loved. Uh… how long have I been here?"

Francis suddenly looked nervous. "Don't worry about that."

"No, I could swear I'm not supposed to be here. It's a feeling that goes three meta layers deep. What happened? Wait a second… AHA!"

Arthur whirled around and cracked Francis's nose with his fist.

The satisfying way Francis’s eyes widened a half-second before contact, and the pop of his fist against his face, it was the most cathartic thing on earth.

Arthur shook his hand off as if to shake Francis's icky contact from it.

Francis flinched backwards from shock while clutching his nose. "My love," Francis whined, "what was that for!"

"Somehow I forgot you were a bitch."

Francis's affronted expression said he’d never expected Arthur to disrespect him despite all past history and experience Francis should have down by now. Wait… what past history? Arthur was just supposed to be the guard of Venusberg, he'd never had a past history with the god of love.

"How dare you!" Francis gasped, "how dare you insult all the sweet wonder my love devises for you! I made you immortal like me! In the mortal realm everything sucked for you, but here you can delight in my pleasure forever~"

"Gross…" Arthur scrunched up his nose.

"So just forget everything again about the world above the subterranean realm which the old gods have been banished too according to germanic folk mythology, my love, and sing about how beautiful and great and perfect I am," Francis wiggled his eyebrows.

"I'd rather marry a pig. By the way, wasn't I supposed to be guarding the entrance of this place to make sure you didn't escape?"

"Well, yes, but don't you recall in WWV: 70, Overture, when you're off-stage, the music is supposed to recall the Tannhauser folk ballad to the audience's mind so they'll know that I seduced you by the time the Opera has begun?"

Suddenly Arthur remembered who he was and why he felt so misplaced.

"Damnit. I'm stuck in a Wagner opera with you of all people. Does that mean Italy is the pope?"

Fandom: Hetalia (personified) Pairing: Arthur x Kat (EngUkr/UkrEng) Content Length: Short (~1000 words)

Arthur had a long day at work. His clients had never-ending requests and his colleagues bombarded him with non-stop questions. The worst part is that someone ate all his favorite snacks. (Spoiler alert: he’s the only one in the workplace who liked licorice.) All he wanted was a quiet night and for his head to touch the pillow as soon as possible.

He was tiredly brushing his teeth when he caught a glimpse of something odd and almost terrifying in the mirror. Normally, Arthur was not afraid of ghosts or intruders showing up in his home, but he was horrified by something he’d not seen before. In fact, he wasn’t sure what he was looking at.

Arthur spat the toothpaste out of his mouth and turned around to get a better look at her soapy beard. His wife was standing behind him, generously applying a cream to her face that was too thick to be a night cream and too thin to be whipped cream. 

“What are you doing?” he asked skeptically.

Kat looked at him innocently, her eyes overly saturated from the brightness of the vanity lights. “I’m going to shave.”

“You’re going to shave your face?”

“Yeah, I am.” She pressed her lips together and made circles on her cheeks, similar to how she did when she used a cleanser. She has very obviously never put on shaving cream before, but she seemed determined, that’s for sure.

“…Why?”

“I wanted to make my skin smoother.”

“You normally use this product for that, do you not?” Arthur examined the different colored products in the cabinet and picked out a dark green one and showed it to her.

“Yeah, that helps with toning, but I wanna get rid of my peach fuzz.” Kat spread the cream all over her face, including her brows. As soon as Arthur saw her cover them, he grabbed the hand towel and started wiping the cream off her face. He did not want her to impulsively do something she was going to regret. Honestly, he just didn’t want to hear her complain about it every night, for at least two months.

“Wuh-? What are you doing?!”

“Love, you are not shaving off your eyebrows. You’re going to look ridiculous.”

“Why not? It’s hair on my face, right?” Kat spat as some of the cream got in her mouth. It smelled so musky, but it was so disgusting. Bleh.

“You’re going to look ridiculous. I don’t want to look at an alien when I look at my wife. I love her brows the way they are and I wouldn’t want you to sabotage them. They’re mine too..”

“Well, yeah! Because you’ve got such bushy ones and I’ve got wormy ones. You can’t even see mine because they’re so light!”

“Are you jealous of my bushy brows? They’re not something to be envious of.”

“Are you kidding me?” She pouted at him. “You can do so much with thick brows! I want nice brows like that..”

“Shaving them off will not be the solution here.”

“But they say it will grow back thicker.”

“Then, by ‘their’ logic, the peach fuzz will grow back fuller too.”

“Fine!” She grabbed the towel from his grip and wiped her face.

“And I’m quite fine with peach fuzz. If anything, it makes your face more peach-like when you blush. I just don’t want you to do something as drastic as that.” He returned to brushing his teeth, far more relieved now that she wasn’t going to shave her brows.

She sighed and tried again to cover her face with the shaving cream, adding too much of it. Arthur’s eyes watched her and his brushing slowed down as she continued applying globs over her mouth to the point where the globs could no longer adhere to her face. She just kept going and going. He shook his head at her and looked down at the sink as he tried to finish brushing his teeth. He could still hear it. Plop. He closed his eyes and did his best to contain himself as he listened to it plop to the ground. Then again. Then once more. Plop.

“Katherine, what are you doing?” He looked over his shoulder and found a foamy Viking beard to be the center of attention. “What is this?!” The man laughed at her absurdity, pointing at her beard with the brush, unsure what to really do in this situation. Why was she just standing there and doing that? This felt like something his brother would do to him, not his wife.

“I’m shaving my whiskers,” she tried to say, but could not get out. Through the layers of soapy goodness, her words could not make their way to Arthur’s ears, let alone hers. She quietly laughed to herself as she found it incredibly funny that she could not be heard because of the thickness of the soap. Arthur put a hand to his mouth to try to cover up his amusement so he could better hear her, but then too fell apart at the stupidity of it all. He covered his face instead.

Kat pulled out a shaving razor from the pocket of her robe and started “shaving” her magical beard. With every motion, their faces turned redder. They both heard the plopping sound and only the plopping sound as it hit the tile. Kat’s shoulders shook from laughter as she tried to continue with her weird performance. But she couldn’t take it anymore. She walked over to the sink and rinsed the razor just to discover she forgot to take the safety cap off. Her realization caused her to burst into an uproar, covering the mirror entirely in the shaving cream.

All the air that Arthur had ever had in his lungs escaped him as he wheezed at the comedic sight. Kat gripped onto the sink and leaned over it as she couldn’t control neither her laughter nor the beard that kept dripping. Hearing the other one laugh pained their bellies and filled their night with joy. Kat reached for the towel to wipe her face with as she slowly regained some composure. As she glanced at her tear-stricken face in the soiled mirror, she caught a glimpse of her husband leaning against the wall trying to stop his fit of laughter.

“PFFF.” She burst out into laughter once more and the duo repeated the cycle until the pain made it unbearable to keep laughing. It was just one of those nights.

This is such a difficult question to answer, I can’t pick 😭 Pretty much every title that we watch or read or play has a bunch of characters that I adore drawing, but I guess I gravitate towards characters with long hair and unusual hairstyles or outfits?? I also feel the urge to try to draw a character when they are out of my comfort zone, which doesn’t mean that I always do it or good at it, but I always have fun drawing stuff in a different art style (like the guys from Scott Pilgrim),with complicated outfits (like Barok van Zieks) or with mechanic parts (like Ortho!)… but the last one is pretty recent, I just noticed that I kind of enjoy drawing it. I guess I love a challenge? In a way? It’s just more fun that way.

By my comfort type of character and a default option would be a gloomy boy/girl in a hoody, my heart is always smiling whenever I draw this type.

Examples of some of my faves throughout the years (without twst): Levi (SnK), Ainosuke (sk8), Killua (HxH), Shiroba (DMMD), Apollo Justice (AA), Geto (JJK)… this is just a few of them.

I also still think that Prussia from Hetalia is our ultimate boy because I’ve been drawing him for about 15 years now lol

I still giggle every time I think about how we ended up with poor Riddle being surrounded by busty girls, I swear it wasn’t intentional. But the more I think about it, the funnier and more Freudian it gets… what an aggressive way to heal mommy issues and an acute deficiency of tight hugs.

To answer your question, I think Riddle was kind of surprised when she saw Trey after being separated because she didn’t think boobs could get that big. Logically yes, it makes sense, but seeing it in person is different. Riddle always does her best to be proper and act like a lady, but I can imagine her eyes sliding down all the time during their first conversation. Trey would absolutely notice…

Riddle is indeed very curious, and it’s pretty obvious, but she would never talk about it or even ask to touch Trey’s boobs, but maybe one day… you know, for science… or Trey is just going to offer it herself lol save that girl, Trey.

Various Judolai (Jude+Nicolai) Comics

Compiling from newest to oldest because I am deathly embarrassed of previous Jude designs, as will be discussed. Alternative shipnames for this are QUEEN and Nude (Nicolai+Jude)

Most recent one page comic. Done to develop the style I'll use for the current comic I'm doing. Also, just a funny idea that appeared to me. These are their current designs. It'll be evident how much I changed them as the post goes on.

Again, current designs. I'm still figuring out how to do Nicolai's hair. It's funny, there was a point where I was satisfied with Nicolai's design but viscerally dissatisfied with Jude's design, but now it's the opposite case. Albeit, I'm good with Nicolai's design conceptually but I just can't execute it as I'd like. Also, both these comics entertain the idea that Jude is very violently devoted to protecting Nicolai, in a sort of yandere way. I've foregone any kind of shame and unabashedly admit I somewhat enjoy that sort of trait, the gap moe produced by a seemingly cutesy and pleasant character having the capacity for major violence. This shift in his character was inspired, and I speak completely truthfully, by Finland from Hetalia. I wish I was lying.

So at this point I hated what I originally had with Jude and redid it, but was never quite satisfied with the hairstyle. Nicolai is notably his old design. Also didn't translate the Japanese on the third image because it's probably wrong.

And now I reveal probably the oldest longform comic I did and also Jude's old design, which I hate a lot for reasons I'll explain after.

I get his hair might look weird and stuff, that isn't why I hate the design. Moreover, this was when I somehow pictured their narrative to be set in the medieval times, so his hair being so weird made sense (it doesn't but alright).

Anyway, I cringe about this Jude design not necessarily because it's bad, but more because of how it was me reflecting a digestible ideal of gay dudes where there's explicit feminine and masculine dynamics. It's just shallow. These dynamics aren't necessarily bad or anything, but the fact that I really did portray Jude so femininely and had narratives about it just kinda weirds current-me out. I was young and didn't really see it that way, but now I realize how sort of embarrassing it is. I honestly feel embarrassed even posting these T_T but I mean who will see it, it doesn't matter. Ultimately it's more emblematic of my own youth, so in a way I should appreciate this design, even if I will never draw it again.

Yeah, the tangents will only get worse with every post. Conclusion: I am happy with current Jude's design after I have wrangled with it for years. Nicolai, that's a work in progress, but he's close.

[1.1] An introduction

I’ve been sitting on it for almost 10 years at this point, which is a lot of time to sacrifice to a fictional character’s fictional biography. And I’m speaking about 123 years of Poland’s geographical non-existence, which even my fellow Polish fanfiction writers often skip by unaliving him and only letting him resurrect in 1918 after regaining independence, with cool phoenix metaphors and a jazzy remix of *Poland is not lost yet*.

It's not that I hate this concept utterly, because I have even attempted to write a fic just like that once. I couldn’t resist the picture of Poland, the snobby, aristocratic, moustached, hot-headed peasant-owner from the end of the 18th century, suddenly waking up in the middle of barely-post-WW1 turmoil, with the world having changed SO MUCH since the times he last remembers that he’s like a caveman released from a block of ice in the middle of modern-day New York. Oh, yeah, and his job is to rebuild a country which he lost- wait, he losT FOR HOW LONG???

Yeah, I like the idea. It would be a fascinating comedy plot. But let’s be realistic. The clue of all my rambling is, Poland just before the partitions and just after the partitions are two completely different people, but there’s a road between them, a story of Feliks changing drastically over the 123 years, a story which is absolutely delightful, emotional, hilarious, and honestly the director of The World should get an award for it, because oh boy does Feliks’ character arc HIT HARD. (And I’m not the director here. I’m the film editor, at best. Just choosing the best scenes to bring to light based on a personal whim.)

[1.2] A disclaimer

My hetalia universe works on my own custom-made rules. I only touch canon when convenient, otherwise ignoring it completely. My rule of thumb is to make the concept of personifications as realistic as possible and to bring the “Ness Cinematic Universe” as close to a normal history textbook as possible [some people are just built different, like and subscribe if your goal is to write a history textbook of a fic too!]. I strive for historical accuracy here – but the Rule of Cool takes priority when needed, because I also strive for whatever my heart desires. All my stuff are of the “public hetalia” variety unless stated otherwise. It means the personifications and their identity are usually public knowledge and their existence is a natural phenomenon in-universe.

[1.3] HWS Poland's 19th century timeline: TL;DR

(i'm about to elaborate on each point from this list in my future posts.)

1795 – the third partition. According to their earlier agreement, Russia takes Lithuania east and Prussia takes Poland west.

1796 – Poland moves through Saxony to France… 1797 – ...and from France to Italy, where the famous Polish legions in Italy are starting to form.

1797-1814 – Poland’s Great Napoleonic Adventure :) [to be elaborated on]

1815 – the previous agreements between the partitioning sides get nullified at the congress of Vienna. Feliks has no other way but to agree on a personal union with Russia under certain conditions.

1815-1830 – he then lives a mildly peaceful life in Warsaw, but the conditions aren’t met and the tsar’s brother is unbearable.

1830-31 – Feliks revolts in Warsaw.

1831-37 – prison time (Schliesselburg fortress, Russia)

1838-1848 – Poland’s Great Emigration :) (his mental health rapidly decreasing, he moves to live in France and travels here and there around western Europe. You can insert your ship content here, though.)

1848 – Feliks revolts in Germany.

1848-1849 – Feliks revolts in Hungary.

1849-185X – prison time (Spielberg castle, Austria [nowadays Czech])

185X – 1861 – passed from Austria to Russia, he once again accepts an offer to sit calmly in Warsaw and try not to break anything. [the plot of BSA the fic happens here – for those who know :) you can also use this time for your ship content.]

1861-1863 – mildly chaos with occassional patches of prison time (Warsaw Citadel)

1863-64 – Feliks revolts in Warsaw.

1864-1866 – Poland’s Not So Great Exile To Siberia :)

1866 – Feliks revolts in Siberia.

1867-1890 – a free time slot. Show your OTP some love here. Personally I want to see him in Austria-Hungary, Prussia works too. So does going west and crying into France’s sleeve. So does prison time in Irkutsk, Siberia. Let him have a trip to China. Or Australia. Do your worst.

1891-190X – I’d love to see him in Russia around here, though, in Petersburg. At least when he’s not running wild and committing crimes.

190X-1914 – I’m currently reworking this section. The old version had him start WW1 in Prussia, in the Prussian army, then switch to the Russian side. The new one will probably have him do the exact opposite, so he’d be starting in Russian.

1914-16 – not like it matters, because he manages to fight for all the three occupants’ armies (until they notice he's jumping sides and...

1. Honestly, the Hetalia fandom was super fucking fun.

Like yeah, it was a horrifically shitty anime, with shitty ideals and values. But for a kid who isn't aware of that shit yet, and looks at the fandom as a means of creativity and expression? It was fun as hell. Despite everything, I still look upon those days very fondly! There was such a wealth of creativity and joy in that fandom. It's one of those things that feels deeply wrong to engage with once you have the brain to understand concepts like nationalism, and stereotypes, and bigotry, but it's very easy to get sucked into when you DON'T have all of that. I think that's why successors like CountryHumans keep popping up.

2. Hetalia isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be

While the fandom in the 2010s absolutely sucked, the show itself isn’t actually that bad. The earlier seasons have a lot of jokes made in poor taste and all around it’s not the best, the later seasons are pretty entertaining! There’s some fun history facts, comedy (that’s not anywhere near as bad as the earlier seasons), and the fandom has improved as well! The common misconception is that it’s purely about ww2, but it’s not. It’s an interesting concept on learning history, it’s not executed in the best possible way of course, but regardless, it has an interesting concept! The countries represent the people of the nation and NOT the governments, which I’ve noticed is also a common misconception.

Pre-preliminaries will be used to determine what qualifies as a hot take. Propaganda is encouraged!

I've read a bunch of your stuff for a while now, and it only just occurred to me that you don't really write for the Yan who attack their affection. I mean, yeah they get "punished" but not actually killed or maimed. That's not a bad thing! I just noticed cause I write Yan totally different and its p cool!

Like, I write them as a horror trope. All the obsessiveness building, a desire to take and control, to dissect the target socially or mentally or even physically, so the Yan knows them inside and out, and no one else can know them the same way. And if that hurts the target, then that doesn't matter.

Meanwhile, you write it more as a romantic or overprotective thing. "The world is bad, and I'll keep you away from it", where its more delusional(? Sorry, I don't know a nicer word for it) than straight up possessive.

I don't mean anything bad by this. Honestly, I think it's super cool! A base concept being two entirely separate subgenres(?) based on interpretation is just awesome, imo! And I'm not trying to say the two styles are exclusive, either! Just a sliding spectrum type deal.

I love your work, and would love to hear your thoughts! Like, do you intentionally stick to Possessive and/or Protective, or is it something you don't even think about? What inspires you? What's your go to trope when thinking about a new au/Yan?

It's not a bother at all! This was honestly fun to receive as no one's ever asked me questions like this. I'm so sorry I got so rambly and excited that I'm gonna have to put this under a read more 😭

I do intentionally stick to the whole Possessive/Protective/Delusionall way of writing for my fics! Growing up, nearly all the yandere fics I could get my hands on and read were violent. I loved reading yandere stuff but so much of it had me baffled and wondering if the yandere even loved their love interest. A lot of it was yanderes hurting and berating their love interest. I just could not wrap my head around the why when I was younger, especially since I was facing abuse at home. My reasoning when I was a pre-teen was a yandere was supposed to be insanely in love with a person, why behead them? (Actual fic I read on devientart)

You can probably tell on my blog since I do this now still, but I bounced a lot between platonic yandere and romantic yandere. Some of my platonic works float around somewhere (I wrote platonic yandere father England to America for Hetalia at some point LMAO) but not much of my old stuff is in my docs. My dad would go through my shit every once and a while and so I was so paranoid with my writings that a lot of stuff is just sitting in one google docs of an email that I can't quite remember.

That was quite long-winded but it's just my go-to. It started out as intentionally writing stuff this way and now I hardly ever think about it. I'm not sure how easy this is to tell from my blog, but I've been suffering from depression for years. I get periods where I feel so energized and alive and ready to write that I spam this or my other blogs with writing. Most of my inspiration comes from those periods, when I receive asks and am actually in the headspace to get the picture out of my brain.

Half the time though, I get the inspiration from stuff I read or watch! And I'm not sure if this counts as a trope, but quite a bit starts as a platonic yandere thing. I think of Tord mainly, being overprotective over a child, and then once I get that out of my system the au shifts. The Android Tord au actually started that way before I shifted to Tord focusing on the other 3! The platonic thing also started when I was young, again from the abuse I was facing at home.

If that doesn't count as a trope, then I suppose robots/unhuman entities! I have quite a few aus like that on here haha. I just love the concept and use it a lot for different aus/scenarios. A concept I've kept in my brain for a long, LONG time is of Zombie Tord taking care of a small child alongside a robot version of himself that he built. Bits and pieces exist in my docs but I've never really written anything coherently lol.

Wait now that you've got me going!!! HOMESTUCK!! I have this bigass au that's remained in my brain off any docs or paper for YEARS! I've tried writing it in a way to post but I've just never gotten very far since there's so much lore and detail that I need for people to understand but get too overwhelmed. A loooot of stuff starts from that au and branches off into whatever single entity I wrangle it into.

Aside from that, I also just don't bother posting anything from it because man people do not like anything that isn't an x reader or even a reader insert. A lot of my stuff flops hard because it's not x reader-based. Whole other can of worms that I won't get into though!
