In over 250 pulls using freemogems and birthday money I got:
a) yoimiya (the one I actually wanted)
b) aquila favonia (yay for kaeya)
c) tighnari c1 (love him)
d) raiden c1 (first five star she deserves it)
e) two kiraras (somehow)
f) mika (phys kaeya being realised)
g) countless bennetts and saras
Wanna know who I didn't get?
FUCKING CHEVREUSE
#its honestly amusing at this point i guess im cursed to never have her#but im thrilled with all my pulls though got really lucky outside of that#technically ive now spent money on the gacha system but not sure it counts when it was a gift card you got four years ago#that has $20 left on it and will expire next month. like wtf else was i going to do with it#anyway. chevreuse i am so mad but at least i have a firework girl and a beefier raiden#also i get why cons make meta players do so much more damage. i activated the con and raiden just instantly started hitting like 15k more#honestly i think ill go for her c2 next time it comes around and make her my most invested five star#funny how i really dont like how she was written and shes basically a different character in my mind#but shes one of my favourites anyway. i remember seeing the trailer live on the stream and just being in shock#like cmon. her charged attack? gorgeous? and its the only time theyve made a female playable do anything halfway bad#so if you ignore the worst written sq in the game shes really interesting#anyway how did this turn into a raiden thread when i did 250 PULLS AND NO CHEVREUSE

'Perfect is a word lost at the bottom of wine bottles perfect is a foreign word, to me. you and i both have uncountable mistakesㅡ lost wars. i want to be your good, but I dont want to be what im not. I'd surrender my arms, I'd lose all fights.. for you.'
─────
everyone says you're lucky. lucky you have what most only dream ofㅡ You've been with your boyfriend for almost 5 years now. You two met when you were only 19, and he was 20. life has been great. You're even planning on moving in together on your 5th year anniversary, buying a pet, and spending more time with one another. you can't express the happiness you feelㅡ or felt, better said.
it's been six months. six grueling months that have kept you up wondering if this is what you really want, who you really want. it was all so peaceful until it wasn't. until you met him.
enter Joel Miller, the man who beat the shit out af a creep who tried to touch you when you were out with your friends at a club. that happened six months ago. six months ago and a few hours. you'd been lying if you said seeing someone bloodied up because they wanted to protect you didn't pull at your heart.
your encounter with Joel was short and sweet, unfortunately. you told the officers at the scene he was the reason you turned out safe and that you think he's a nice man for that, scrunching up their nose as they tried to make sense of what you just said: Joel Miller a nice man? maybe when alseep, all though even in he sleeps, he's probably dreaming of destroying everything in his way.
Police prefer not to entangle with him. they did it many times, but when he hit 35, doing the same shit they gave upㅡ sort of making a pact for the sake of everyone's well-being. He was a nice man. Losing loved ones and years got to him, the wrong people got to him first, and so he built his own life climbing the steps of crime.
He was a nice man.
You hate it when you do this. You go outside more often than you did 6 months ago to that same spot ㅡ where you first and last saw him. you don't go at night, but after you finish work every day, hoping he's searching for you like you are for him. it's like a fix, and he's the drug, only you had no time to indulge into him.only the image of his bloodied knuckles projecting onto your closed eyelids as you fall asleep next to your boyfriend.
ㅡ
As the neon lights flickered against the rain-soaked streets, you found yourself standing outside the club. Your heart raced as you pushed open the heavy doors, the bass thumping through your veins. "Hey, beautiful," a smooth voice whispered in your ear. You turned to see Joel, his dark eyes smoldering with intensity. "I've been waiting for you."
"I shouldn't be here, Joel," you protested weakly, torn between loyalty to your boyfriend and the magnetic pull of this dangerous man. He chuckled, a shadowed glint in his eyes. "But you couldn't stay away, could you?" You bit your lip, feeling the weight of his gaze like chains around your heart. "I need to leave," you said, but your feet refused to move.
"You just got here, baby." Joel urged, his voice low and persuasive. "Just one drink." Against your better judgment, you found yourself nodding, allowing him to lead you deeper into the pulsating club.
You swallowed hard, the guilt of betraying your boyfriend warring with the intoxicating thrill of being with Joel. "I can't do this," you whispered, but even as the words left your lips, you knew they were a lie. Joel's lips quirked into a knowing smile. " not foolin' anyone, sweetheart," he said, his voice sending shivers through your body.
ㅡ
Before you could respond, the sound of your phone goes off, causing you to wake up. Your eyes shoot open, turning to see if your boyfriend is yet awake. his side is empty, only the wrinkles on the sheets remembering his presence. As you reach for your phone, its vibrant screen illuminates the dimly lit room, casting shadows that dance across the walls. With a delicate touch, you unlock the device, revealing a text from your almost beloved:
The words, though tender, fail to dispel the lingering echoes of Joel's presence in your mind. Your brain flickers back to the dream and the moment you met Joel, its façade a beacon amidst the city's nocturnal.
── had to leave early, sorry for that, babe. Can't wait to see you tonight. Love you ❤️
The memory of Joel's voice, velvety and commanding, resonates in the recesses of your consciousness, a siren's call luring you into the depths of uncertainty. Despite your protestations, the tendrils of temptation coil around your resolve, entwining with the delicate fibers of loyalty that bind you to your partner. With each heartbeat, the dichotomy of emotions swirls within, a tempestuous maelstrom of desire and guilt, desire Joel, and guilt for the betrayal it entails.
And yet, beneath the veneer of steadfast resolve lies a flicker of uncertainty, a gnawing doubt that whispers of the inevitability of succumbing to the intoxicating pull of his magnetism. In the depths of your soul, you grapple with the unsettling truth that the want you feel for Joel might stem from something deeperㅡ it was something carnal. It consumed you for so long.
his gaze, a smoldering ember amidst the darkness, kindles flames of longing that lick at the edges of your conscience. his eyes that cut like knives.
────────
'About time you escaped, imprisoned isn't what I'd imagine you'd want your heart to be written upon.'
────────
Amidst the throng of pedestrians, a familiar silhouette emergedㅡ him. it felt like seeing an old friend. no, like finding an old toy that brought you joy. only that toy was stolen, which is why you had to hide it; hide it so good you had to forget about it.
With a jolt of recognition, your gaze locked with his, a fleeting moment suspended in the maelstrom of time. 'Will he recognize me?' Joel's eyes, obsidian pools that mirrored the depths of your soul, held a myriad of emotions: recognition, intrigue, and perhaps, a hint of longing. at least you hoped so. wanted so.
With a wistful smile, Joel broke the spell that bound you, his voice a melodic symphony amidst the murmur of the city. "Happy to see you're fine." You returned his smile, a fragile facade that masked the tempest of emotions raging within. "Why wouldn't I be?" you replied, your voice a whisper lost.
"I was honestly thinking something might have happened after that night...seeing that you almost always visit the club." he quirks his eyebrows. "nothing happened." but it did. he ripped the heart out of you and kissed it goodbye all at once, leaving you to deal with it all whilst he carried on with his drug escapades and crime shenanigans. nevertheless, you smile, swallowing back your own thoughts as it seemed.
"I've been following you, y'know?" joel admits.
my, and what a strong grasp he has onto your heart right now.
"You'veㅡ seriously?" why did you sound happy? when joel tells someone this, their first reaction is to go wide-eyed and back out. but it is rare that he feels such a pull towards someone. someone like you. maybe you reminded him of when he was so untaintedㅡ the thought of danger strangling him to the point he couldn't help but give in. "Tell me why."
you've been caught. isn't this what you wanted?
"I- uhm...I don'tㅡ"
"Don't even bother lying. What would an angel like you want from someone-" joel steps closer. "like me." a sense of inevitability washed over you. you were reminded of the immutable truth. The words, uttered with a conviction born of desperation. "It's you that i need." you can't believe your own courage. maybe you were just drunk on his scent.
they slip past your lips like a plea. absolution and complete submission, you surrendered. this was your god, the one you've prayed for all those nights when your boyfriend was fast asleep. it was wrong, but oh, how sweet, like honey wrong is. you weren't scared to kick everything away for a mere second of this. just a touch of his fingertips. that's all. you found solace in that.
──────────
"Do you wanna go back to my place, sugar?"
'Love is an apple, and i am the serpent forcing it down my throat.'
──────────
rough, red, and raw. that's how his kisses were. he made no stop until he had you splayed over his bed. he was eating you with every stare, like a predator. you needed him to do something, dive into you. it was carnal.
"If you wanna stop, just say so, yeah?" joel causes you to look back up at him. nipping at your lower lip, you spread your legs further apart as to invite him further. "I want you to hurt me, Joel." and how could he refuse you? you looked so pure and beautiful all spread under him, waiting for his command. "that so." and you whimper a pathetic 'mhm'.
"I never made you out to be this kinda girl, all though ㅡ" he retracts, reaching out into his back pocket to take out his switchblade. "I don't mind it." joel chuckles before yanking you up by your hair and pulling you to the ground. "Kneel." he commands. and you obliged, intoxicated from his presence alone. "This what you want? huh?" he asks, traching your neck with the tip of the knife as you shiver. "pathetic slut. forgot you've got a man at home?" he taunts "bet you've been dreamin' bout me stuffing you up with my cock, yeah?"
you nod, eager not to let him slip through your fingers. "Yeah.." he drags the kife down, cutting through your top, knicking your skin and exposing your breasts. the slight pain drowns you as you press your thighs together. "Look at that." he tuts, mocking as he drags the knife over the small cut to gather the blood, bringing it up to your mouth.
"lick" and lick you do, swirling your tongue around the blade, keeping eye contact as the metal aroma washed over your tastebuds. "atta girl. good little slut." joel chuckles as he proceeds to unbuckle his pants. "now imma let you suck my cock, butㅡ" after hes done freeing his shaft from his briefs he holds the knife up to the side of your neck. "if you stop I'll make sure you won't like it."
you weren't scared at all. maybe it was from all of the time you spent yearning that totally disrupted your sense of fearㅡ You wanted to make him proud and not regret what he'd done until now.
so you take his member into your mouth, slowly sucking on the tip before trying to take more. you lied if you said he wasn't huge, your jaw already hurting once you made it halfway. the knife was still digging at your skin, his eyes fixed on your every move. moving you head up and down, you felt as joels muscles tensed, his breath growing shallow as he snaked his free hand around your hair again.
"Just like that. yeah, keep doin' that.." tears well up in your eyes as your core tightness, still not dwelling on you that you're on your knees, sucking Joels dick whilst he holds you at knifepoint. "ok, thats enough, angel-baby." he pushes you back, motioning you back onto the bed. " all fours."
"n-no.." You muster up. "What's that?" joel furrowed his brows. "Not all fours..wanna see your face." You stare up at him, and you swear you saw his gaze softened. "what the fuck are you doin' to me, girl..?" he laughs, pulling you up and placing you on the bed, the sheets enveloping you.
"been dreamin' about this, baby. look at you..." he groans, undressing your delicate skin. "you're a fuckin' dream." he trails kisses from your stomach to your knee and traces his nose back up to your lips before he crashes his onto them.
you cling onto that kiss, it awakes you from the deepest hole on earth, pulls you to the heaven, then plummets you down againㅡ you needed this.
joel breaks from the kiss, sitting like that for a second. he then traces his digits between your folds that dripped with desire. "so wet for me, angel. all f'me.."
"please, mmhg.." whining, you try to rub yourself onto his fingers, but he quickly slaps you again, this time on the side of your thigh. "don't be a greedy whore." he clicks his tongue before leaning down spreading your pussy lips as he does, blowing onto your sensitive clit. you jump and moan in frustration. "i know, baby, i know." he spreads your legs further, finally landing a soft and teasing lick between your folds. it doesn't take long for joel to go at it, sucking and licking at your cunt like theres no tomorrow, your desperate pleads to come only fueling him. "not yet, angel-baby." he gorans, picking himself up.
"please fuck me, Joel." you plead. "needy thing." and with that he lines himself up with your hole and eases in. your whole body vibrates as a sting spreads through you, and you squeeze around Joel. "fuckㅡ so fuckin' tight." he moans before plunging straight into you. your tongue luls out, tears on the brink of your eyes as you cand only squeal out pathetic moans and incoherent blathers. "shitㅡ ! squeezing me so good, baby."
joel fucks into you harder and harder, the bed creaking whilst you let him take over you. he grabs your hips pushing himself even deeper into your cunt, groaning when you arch your back, breasts perking up. "fucking angel. my pure angel." ㅡ you can only moan and cry as you feel your orgasm approaching. desperately, you clench around his cock, sending joel into a frenzy.
"gonna come, baby?" he's stern and rough with his request. "hhhaㅡ y-yes, plea-se..." you don't know if you're crying because you feel too good or because of how long you've waited for this.
"gonna come soㅡ fukin' deep inside of you- shit!" he almost growls, and you not your head dizzy. "p-leasee...insideㅡ!" and you don't wait more than two more seconds as joel spills his warm seed inside, painting every inch of you. he leans down, leaving a tired kiss upon your forehead.
"go ahead, angel-baby." you writhe as the knots in your core begin to untie, shaking under joel whilst he fucks you through it. it doesn't take long for him to reach his limit, digging his nails through your thighs, gritting his teeth and moaning your name.
"thank you."

it is with a heavy heart that i must announce. the five nights at freddy's movie was really good
sorry for how much of a behemoth this post is im fnaf autism just bear with me also i can't keep my thoughts straight for the life of me so this will be a bumpy ride. as an additional note i got very lucky and had literally 0 spoilers whatsoever for this movie, i haven't even seen the trailer
so first of all: i thought all the changes they made to the plot to make it work for a movie were good decisions, altho some of them did take a minute to actually feel like good changes lmao. once i thought about em a bit more though they made sense.
one of the things i really liked was that they also did include a lot of the things i wanted them to, or more specifically things that you're like "you literally can't have a fnaf movie without these, it just wouldn't be right", like we got mike schmidt, we got fucking VANESSA??? altho she might be in the trailer so that might not be the same reveal for yall as it was for me but still. they heavily alluded to vanny? (altho that's a part i'm kinda sad abt is they didn't /actually/ include vanny, vanessa just makes an offhand comment about how she "wouldn't be much help" if she was around afton and then. comes to help anyways and doesnt have any issues? lame they shouldve had him hypnotise her and then she fought her way out to help mike and abby. or alternatively they couldve used the family restructuring to make vanny be a result of afton giving vanessa osdd-2, like thats kinda functionally what he does with the mask anyways but this would make it more obvious).
also swinging back to changes they made that i liked!! VANESSA AFTON?? like this is the one that took me a while to get used to bc it feels like such a cliche from an outside perspective but it also kind of Super Isn't considering what the original plot is? like all the family restructuring they did makes pretty good sense to me, i do think it loses a bit of the weight having michael be Just Some Guy Whose Brother Happened To Be Kidnapped By Afton Forever Ago and now coincidentally has this weird guy offering him a job as a night guard, but also the og lore. absolutely would not fit into a movie lmao. so i like that they kept the characters everyone wanted around while also rearranging it to keep the spirit of "learning about all of this for the first time through the eyes of a security guard" you get from playing the games. it's fun for people who don't know the lore because it's easy to follow and it's fun for people who /do/ know the lore because they can pull apart all the differences.
oh right back to things they included that i wanted them to. we gotttt chica's cupcake murdering people, we got FUCKING MATPAT? SAYING THE ITS JUST A THEORY LINE? SOUNDING THRILLED OFF HIS ASS TO BE THERE??? i dont like the man and his opinions vis a vis addressing nonbinary characters but. goddamn was that a funny cameo. why couldnt you include markiplier too you fucking cowards. who said that. anyways. oh we kind of tangentially have a canon name for crying child? aka garrett? like idk this one could go either way because like. yeah he's mike's younger brother that died tragically and scarred him for life, makes sense that theyd be the same character in function but also it is technically a different family so who knows.
umm what else. oh this doesnt rlly fall into either category i just really liked it, the intro sequence for all the animatronics? showing what they can /really/ do with the breaking and entering dudes?? that was such a cool sequence i really liked the whole thing honestly. chica being introduced in the kitchen and the dude finding the cupcake then looking back and it's gone? bonnie in the supply closet? foxysprint??? AND FREDDY!! THE BITE!!! in case anyones reading this before watching the movie so they know what to expect: youll know when this moment is coming and if youre watching it at home with friends i HIGHLY recommend having the "was that the bite of 87" clip ready to play right after, they WILL lose their shit. i had it queued up from the very beginning of the movie cause i was like. they can't not include it /somehow/, it's the fnaf movie there has to be A Bite. and sure enough. oh also it's not at the same time but the golden freddy reveal is really good too, they did a good job of setting it up so even if youre already aware of golden freddy conceptually you still go "oh freddy's here? i mean i guess that makes sense he's the leader and all. or wait what happened to his eye why's he only got one? oh. oh i see. ohohohohohohohoho" 100/10. also very funny that they just straight up. MURDER THE AUNT? AND SHE NEVER GETS MENTIONED AGAIN SHE JUST IS DEAD??? the kid isnt like. hey what happened to aunt jane?? i get none of them liked her and with good reason but youd think at least one of em would be like "damn she sucked but she didnt deserve that, rip jane"
oh and the springlocks of course the springlocks. like as soon as we saw aftons name in the cast list we all knew he was gonna get springlocked, it's such a cherished memory for so many of us and there's no way in hell The Fnaf Movie™ wouldnt include afton getting springlocked, they just legally can't leave that out. and they do it pretty well too like yeah if you know what's gonna happen you can see it coming way ahead of time and it's kind of a slow crawl to get there but like. idk i think it still works pretty well. i don't personally like how long the actual springlocking itself took, i think they couldve milked that a little bit less cause i was under the impression that if one springlock failed they All Would Instantaneously And Your Flesh Body Will Become Occupied By A Full Endoskeleton. but no we just get very slow rib beartrap. w/e though still cool and again the leadup to it was really good even knowing exactly how it would end, like just the really slow shuffling of the animatronics towards him? like yeah it's slow and kinda tedious but its also like. theres literally nothing you can do, youre surrounded and defenseless and theyre infinitely faster and stronger than you and now they remember that you killed them. and you just have to sit there and watch them slowly slowly get closer all while trying to talk your way out of it knowing youre fucked. 10/10 they did that part well
oh and that also falls under changes i liked, i liked that instead of "afton tries to escape intangible ghosts by getting into old decrepit suit which then fails and kills him" it was "afton was already in the suit to do murders in and has brainwashed the bots to follow him" wait omg point postponed i just realized that part is from security breach. i thought vanessa was the only thing they brought over from that i didnt even notice that they werent doing the theyre-attacking-all-adults-indiscriminately thing goddamn. omg wait and the fact that the restaurants already closed in this one, it really is just a blend of all the games huh. scott do you see how much more coherent your plot couldve been if there wasnt So much going on. anyways. back to what i was saying. instead of "afton tries to escape intangible ghosts by getting into old decrepit suit which then fails and kills him" it was "afton was already in the suit to do murders in and brainwashed the ghosts into thinking he was their friend so they would help him do murders while possessing the robots. then they get their memories back and the robots turn on him and.. i think deliberately? set off the springlocks, or were just aiming to regular kill him and the springlocks failing was a happy accident? then the robots drag him away as they keep slowly one by one collapsing into him", like the first one made a lot of sense for the game and the timeline and the second one just feels right for this too. it's still his hubris that kills him, still his springlocks, it's just in one version the hubris is "trusting his springlock design to still work after however many years" and in the other its "thinking he has conplete control over the ghosts he killed", plus the ghosts finally get a bit more direct participation in his death than in the other version lol.
one change i did not like. forced het romance. like i dunno i guess im happy for them, both of those characters have certainly earned happy endings by this point so its nice they can get something cutesy. but also. like cmon man it's vanessa and mike do we have to do this she just got stabbed stop holding her hand
oh also this change wasnt really good or bad i just thought it was funny, vanessas a full on cop now? like i get they prolly just dont wanna have two security guards or something but i mean. it wouldve been really easy to just say she was the day shift guard? thatd explain why she had more information on the bots and the place's history than him, why she's always Around, it wouldve even flowed into the vanessa afton reveal pretty well too because like. yeah obviously a guy doing murders would want his main security guard to be someone he trusts and who better than his theoretically brainwashed daughter yknow? as it was she just kinda Showed Up Knowing Stuff And Ignoring Questions and later afton's like "you were supposed to be keeping an eye on him" but like of course Mike was getting dodgy about the weirdo cop loitering nearby for no reason, thats sus as hell lmao. vs "experienced security guard here to show you the ropes" he would have a much easier time trusting that she actually did have his best interests at heart. idk it just seemed like a weird change to me lmao
ummm oh my roommate pointed out the fact that when they tried to springlock abby the suit they were aiming for looked suspiciously like circus baby and abby and baby are anagrams so thats fun. it's hard to tell though if shes intended to be a rework of elizabeth or if vanessa's filling that role now. cause like on the one hand, michael's younger sister whose name is v close to baby, on the other hand, vanessa is afton's daughter. so idk i feel like it could go either way. if abby's elizabeth i guess that negates the thing about garret maybe being crying child's name bc then theyd prolly just be keeping mike's name the same. w/e
oh my god i completely forgot when i was talking about changes to the afton springlock thing, they had him deliberately put his mask on after the other springlocks started releasing and say the "i always come back" line, i thought that was an excellent touch. like he's actively dying a horrific death and is like. no no. im not leaving this bot. this shit is going to suck ass no matter what so i might as well do all i can to ENSURE my soul gets locked in this fuckin thing, go on stab me in the brain lets do this. i will however also say that having him say "i always come back"... before he's even come back the first time? is a little bit weird, i know thats another one of the "we have to include this in the fnaf movie" things so im not mad but just in the moment it def flows a bit weird. like mf you don't even have one example of that yet much less several to be saying "always" about
OH AND THE BIGGEST ONE. THE ANIMATRONICS. theyre so good. like im so glad they went all in on that, i think they probably knew that if there was one single thing they had to get absolutely 100% right to avoid a fan uprising it was those and by god did they deliver, theyre so big and so unsettling and so fun. chica's wink at abby was the best part of the movie no questions asked. or alternatively bonnie falling over after they built the fort. like theyre all just so good. OH MY GOD OR IN CHICA'S INTRODUCTION SEQUENCE WHERE YOU CAN SEE HER JUST. SCOOTING BY THROUGH THE VENT?? THAT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING OF ALL TIME HELLO???
god. but yeah i was honestly expecting it to be a lot worse than it was. also this mike is a bad brother/dad figure. but i guess in the games he also kind of is the pinnacle of bad brother so i mean it couldve been a lot worse. theres definitely some rough parts, i mightve mentioned this already but i felt like a few of the dramatic pause things were a bit too drawn out, like i said the springlocks locking is one good example of that but another that i REALLY found slow was like. in the opening we watch a guy get turbomurdered by the swirly blade mask and it takes. way longer than i feel like was necessary. also unnecessary: a jumpcut a second from scared eyes to swirly blades to hands fumbling and repeating during that. oh another thing that was weird to me, why was mike so insistent on sleeping specifically at night? to the point of deliberately sleeping on the job? like i get he wanted to revisit the kidnapping dream but like. presumably he could dream just as well during the day, no? done his night shift then once it was up rolled out a sleeping bag for a quick powernap before heading home? idk that just felt. forced to me
more random things, i am sad we didnt get a whiff of henry emily (my fringe theory was that their twist to change it from the games was they were gonna make henry be evil, rip to that idea) or the puppet/charlie, and kinda sad they changed the kid possessing golden freddy to be a boy like. we love cassidy and her Undying Rage Towards Afton's Soul smh why would you get rid of her. also loved balloon boy, kinda wish mangle had gotten like a similar level appearance but thats w/e. oh also while i did appreciate the low gore level there were also a few times where it was a bit weird how minor the injuries the dead people had were. like this man just had his face put in a blender mask and he just has like. some forehead gashes or whatever? he should look like someone stirred up jello
anyways with that gross thought i think i am out of things to say about the movie for now. if anyone else watched it already and somehow read all of this blease tell me your thoughts
#the stuff under the cut contains major spoilers so reader beweader#this post is also gonna be rambley as hell so like. strap in#update after finishing it: it is indeed very rambley and also long as hell so see again: reader beweader#fnaf movie spoilers#five nights at freddy's movie spoilers#fnaf spoilers#five nights at freddy's spoilers#fnaf#fnaf movie#my roommate said they heard they were aiming to make 3 moves total and if i had to guess#i would say the other movies will probably hit fnaf 3 and then pizzaria simulator#obviously with some massive changes to the plot regarding timelines and just resolving general world changes#but i do feel like those encapsulate the main big points of afton's arc#aka 1) getting springlocked‚ 2) being springtrap (potentially in fazbear frights and i think that would be a really cool movie#but really the location doesnt really matter so much as the He's Been Woken Up And Is Hunting Someone#and then 3) getting his ass sent to ghost hell by henry. frankly i would be happy if they just ripped his final monologue#straight from the game and didnt even rerecord it it's just so iconic#like id want them to include security breach too somehow but. the timelines gonna get real condensed real fast then#it already would be if they include 3 isnt there like 30 years between aftons death and that one? so the part thats#originally set in 2050????? yeah thatd take some serious rearranging#hmm although i am now in my head thinking of something. abt the location not mattering as long as#springtrap wakes up and hunts someone. what if they did that /in the pizzaplex/ instead of in a horror attraction#or maybe for a horror installation there#idk im just rambling more now but i think thatd be a cool way to combine those parts#oh sorry technically that thing abt afton getting springlocked is technically a spoiler#but i mean come on we all knew that was gonna happen

“i don’t know how he puts up with you”
“so clingy and desperate for support i feel so bad for him”
they have you cornered and you’re outnumbered by far
kuroo has been waiting outside the gym doors for 5 minutes now and is confused
you’re never ever late
so he wanders around looking for you since you aren't answering your phone
now kuroo is annoying but he isn’t stupid
he’s had a hunch about what’s been bothering you lately
he’s noticed a few kids often hang behind class until you leave and they seem to surround you when you’re trying to leave your classroom
he never intervened because he didn’t want to wrongly accuse them of harassing you in case you were friends with them
but you still didn’t look particularly thrilled when you got away from them
so kuroo hears some familiar voices and he heads straight over to them
“don’t cry y/n you don't want to look even more ugly than you already do”
“oh look y/n’s crying they can't even handle a few jokes”
“your boyfriend might even dump you when he sees you”
“the only ones who need dumping are all of you into a pit of fire 🥰”
there stands the 6′2, muscular built, powerhouse school national level volleyball captain with the coldest look he’s ever had
the kids surrounding you are dead silent
“what? nobodies got anything to say now? i thought we were all just laughing and joking with each other so why’d we stop now?”
kuroos eyes soften as soon as they meet yours
he’s grabbed your hand and pulled you tightly into his chest
“i don't think much of a warning needs to be made but let me make this clear just this once because i don't like having to remind people things, come near her, approach, talk about or to her again and you’re going to have a personal problem with me and my team. got it?”
lmfao the little bitches nod trembling and run 🏃🏽♀️
kuroo is such a science nerd who makes awful jokes and has the worlds most obnoxious laugh
but he’s also a man and a captain and sometimes it’s easy to forget that
he can pick and choose when and what he wants to be perceived as
and right then he has chosen to show you who he really can be
“why didn’t you tell me angel?”
“i didn’t want to have to bother you”
“oh baby you’re never ever a bother to me. im sorry i couldn't help sooner please never hesitate to tell me if anything like this happens again”
kuroo’s warning sticks with your bullies and they don't bother you anymore
the volleyball team and coach nekomata are throwing dirty ass looks at them too nfjdsbfjs
all in all, kuroo just wants you to know he is there to support you
and he’ll do anything to make sure you’re happy and comfortable
-
TSUKISHIMA
lmao all i’ve got to say to your bullies is good luck
because if tuski finds out you’ve been bullying his s/o
you’re done for
this boy has no mercy
he doesn't even need to physically fight
his words can cut deeper than any knife and he knows it
so when he notices you've been feeling more anxious around school and clinging to him a little more
he grows sus
he’s immediately closing in on who is bothering you and what insults he wants to throw at them
tuski has an exam and it runs a little into lunch
he told you that if it runs over than you can just wait by your classroom and he’d come and get you
however while you’re waiting you have a run in with the students who have been giving you a hard time
just like tuski you’re a student who thrives in academics
so a few of your classmates aren't particularly fond of your constant reign of lead in your class
“ew y/n you gross weirdo why are you here?”
“they’re probably waiting for their boyfriend to come and pick them up”
“such an entitled little shit, waiting to be collected who do you think you are”
so far you’d done pretty well ignoring them
but that was in an environment with many other students who’d call your bullies out if they were to step out of line in class
right now you’re an easy target though
nobody to protect you
well that’s what you thought anyway
you feel your bag get snatched from your hands and thrown to the ground
the bullies are kicking your stuff around laughing while you have no choice but to watch is despair
that's until one of them is tripped up and lands face flat onto the ground
“you think i should kick them around and see if they can take it?”
tuski is standing there with a dark smile on his face
“so brave of you to pick on my y/n when you all have the audacity to look the way you do and don't even get me started on your academics”
“if i were you'd just apologise to your parents now because realistically what are you all going to do in your lives? success doesn't really look like it fits any of you to be honest”
the other students don't even know what to say
they can't exactly say anything
tsukishima is known to have a sharp tongue with an endless flow of direct insults
“it’d be a shame if a teacher were to find out about this wouldn't it. im thinking suspension maybe? perhaps you should all call your parents up right now and apologise for your inevitable suspension”
the bullies look at each other nervously
he couldn’t be serious right
“im waiting”
these kids whip out their phones and are calling their confused parents trying to explain about how they could be suspended
“now off you all go, get out of my sight and don't you dare come near her again”
they be sprinting out the hallways
“you weren’t actually gonna get them suspended were you?”
“it was depending on how fast they called their parents really”
tsukishima is on the floor helping you gather you trashed things
“im annoyed you didn't tell me. don't keep things like this from me yeah? cause not only am i here for you but, i get a kick out of it to. besides, im the only one who gets to be playfully mean to you.”
and he’ll make sure to keep a closer eye on you and keep you around him for a little longer just till he’s certain you’ve been left alone
OIKAWA
fangirls
the absolute bane of his existence
oikawa appreciated the support but it was overbearing sometimes
especially when he just wants to spend time with his precious y/n-chan
in front of him, his fangirls would be so polite and supportive
“you and y/n look so good together”
“i hope you’re treating them well”
“oikawa is is lucky”
but behind his back these girls were nothing but vicious and spiteful towards you
you knew you’d have to deal with his fangirls at some point
you’d decided to keep your relationship hidden for the first few months until oikawa suggested going public and you felt like you couldn’t say no
you’d hear comments as you walked through the halls
classes would’ve been a nightmare if iwaizumi wasn’t in your class
he knew you were struggling with oikawa’s fangirls but you pleaded him not to say anything to his best friend
iwaizumi didn't exactly want to keep this from oikawa but he also didn't want to go against your wishes
you compromised instead and told iwaizumi about everything the fangirls put you through and sometimes he’d even take it lightly into his own hand
despite the fact you had oikawa’s best friend looking out for you, this was also a reason the bullying got worse
“you think you can get iwaizumi to back you up now? you want the whole team or what?”
yes
“stop being so overdramatic oikawa shouldn’t have to put up with someone as fragile as you”
“he can do so much better did you manifest or do witchcraft to get him to date you?”
the comments had become so common to you they started to have no effect
you slowly became more and more emotionally unavailable and this was something oikawa had started to pick up on
“y/n-chan you’ve stopped smiling at me so much. have i upset you?”
at first he’d think he did something wrong and he’d desperatly rack his brain for anything he could’ve done to offend you
“no you haven’t tooru i’ve just been tired lately”
you’d lie and give him a small fake smile
but oikawa has given enough fake smiles in his life and is more than capable of being able to tell a real smile to a fake one
like kuroo though, he wouldn’t want to push any privacy boundaries and can only hope you’d open up to him soon
it doesn’t mean he’s not going to be watching you even closer now
he’ll ask iwaizumi whether he’s seen a change in your behaviour
iwaizumi has finally decided this has gone too far
“idiot do you not see it’s your shitty fangirls that are making them miserable?”
“my fangirls?”
“yes your fangirls. y/n can’t catch a break with them around they’re really nasty to her and i don’t know how it’s taken you so long to see”
now that oikawa thinks about it you do cling to him a little tighter when they’re around
you don’t thank them for their ‘compliments’ about your relationship with the setter
you go extremely quiet and anxious when they’re around
oikawa had just thought it was nerves from sudden attention
he didn’t realise they had been secretly harassing you
so oikawa goes to wait outside your locker when the day ends
“tooru shouldn't you be at practice?”
“come with me” he says sternly but he’s giving you a reassuring look as he grips your hand securely in his larger one
he walks you quickly through the halls and round to the entrance of the gym where his fangirls are usually waiting for practice to start
“oikawa-san! why aren’t you in uniform? is practice cancelled?”
“oh y/n is here... that's cute”
oikawa is beyond livid just from their presence alone
they even had the nerve to say your name?
“you know what isn’t fucking cute though? your disgusting behaviour”
the fangirls are look between each other innocently
“what do you mean oikawa-san?”
“don’t play oblivious with me you bitches! what was going through your heads when you all thought it was okay to harass MY y/n-chan?!”
the girls are silent now
oikawa is usually so charming and relaxed
nobody sees him worked up outside the court
“there’s a reason none of you have even been allowed to be considered to have the chance to get to know me, you’re all fake. every single one of you. i hate fake people more than anything. this behaviour is gross i want none of you associated with me get out of here and if i hear one more thing about anyone upsetting y/n hell will be broken loose and that won’t just be from me.”
oikawa did not stutter 😌
king
the girls leave immediately
“i think you’ve just lost yourself your whole fan club”
“oh y/n they were never fans if they have the nerve to upset someone they know i love. why didn’t you tell me i would’ve said something sooner”
“i just didn't want to upset you about your fans”
“you’re always going to be the first priority to me always if they or anyone else ever bothers you again, promise you’ll tell me straight away?”
“promise.”
after that he’ll take you to sit on the bench on the side of the court so you can watch him play and he can keep an eye on you
yeah oikawa may seem like a carefree people pleaser
but if you’re upsetting his s/o, you’ll be experiencing the side he tries to keep under control and he won’t be afraid to let loose.

Not The Typical Way You Meet a Soulmate Chapter Two (Solangelo)
Over the years, Nico had become best friends with Gatorade, Pedialyte, and Ibuprofen, especially after nights like last. Nico used these like shields against his hangovers, but every so often he'd find himself in a drought of Gatorade, or maybe he would get too drunk to remember to hydrate himself. Either way, he always had to face the headache of a hangover once in a while; it was the price he had to pay for his fun.
He regained consciousness on his twin size mattress, with a dim and blurry recollection of the night before. Highlighted in his memory, however, remained Will's impression, his blonde locks, and careful blue eyes. The image made Nico's stomach do flips, but then again, that could just be his hangover.
Blinking the sleep from his eyes, he became acutely aware of the piercing pain through his skull, the shakes that came in waves from his core, and the faint sense of nausea rising from his throat. He still wore last night's clothes, which now hung awkwardly off his frame; too tight in all the wrong areas and too loose in others.
He felt like shit.
The more awake he was, the more conscious he grew, the grosser he felt. Wrapping an arm around himself, he pretended to be anywhere but the present, wishing he was somewhere other than his besides his shoddy apartment, but the hammering pain in his head made it hard to focus. He ended up closing his eyes and wishing, praying, he could go back to sleep.
Maybe Nico enjoyed the drunken buzz he'd get at parties, but he never came to welcome the pounding hangover that followed. He never learned to embrace the feeling of a twisted gut or headaches like sledgehammers in his skull.
Unfortunately for Nico, last night's wrath didn't stop with a hangover, he wasn't that lucky. Last night's vengeance was about to enter for round two through the door of Nico's room, in the form of a very unhappy Hazel Levesque.
The door flew open, slamming against the wall behind it.
"Nico!" She shouted, "What the fuck man?"
Well, shit. She's mad about something.
Nico rubbed a sleepy eye awake, "Hazel... Please be quiet. My head hurts," He groaned.
"It's because you're hungover, isn't it?" She accused, "Whatever, that doesn't even matter right now. You got in a fight with someone at the party last night?"
"Who told you?" Nico asked, coercing himself to raise up.
"My friend who hosted the damn party, dipshit!"
"Hazel, I didn't even touch the dude. I would hardly call it a fight. Could you please leave me alone?"
"My friend has a hole in his drywall now! You can't keep starting shit at parties or pissing off people, or getting so drunk you can't remember what happened."
"I remember last night. I didn't blackout," Nico reasoned.
"That's a first. How long has it been since that last happened?" Hazel chided, pinching the bridge of her nose "Actually, no. Don't answer that. I'm gonna be late for class. I'll talk to you when I get home."
She spun out of the room and gathered her things. Before leaving, she called to him from the front door.
"I'm still mad at you still, but I love you!" Her tone was detesting, but Nico could appreciate the sentiment. He laid back, boring holes into the ceiling until his interest became fatigued.
After the ceiling had lost its appeal, he decided that maybe it was time to face the day. He rolled over to check his phone, stretching to reach it where it lay charging.
A text from Will was left in his notifications.
Will: Glad you made it home okay :)
Nico couldn't help the smile that crept onto his face. He began to type out a response.
Nico: hey i just wanted to say thanks for walking me home last night
Nico: oh and also for not letting my shit get kicked in by a lacrosse player who was a foot taller than me
Will: Lol it was no problem, just returning the favor
Will: How's ur day been so far?
Nico: i mean i just woke up hungover, so not all that great :/
Will: I'm sorry to hear that dude! You know, they say a good breakfast is the best hangover cure
Nico: well thats unfortunate, all i have at my house for breakfast is pop tarts
Will: Are you serious?
Will: Let me take you to breakfast, I'll buy
Will: Call it the final pay back for everything that you did for me yesterday
Nico: i thought walking me home yesterday was payback? not saying im gonna refuse a free breakfast tho
Will: Walking you home was for the party, breakfast can be for the groceries
Nico: will you don't have to do that
Will: I know! I just wanted to show my appreciation :)
Will: There's a cafe I was thinking of. It's usually pretty quiet, and won't be too noisy. I can send you the address and meet you there in 35 minutes?
Nico: alright, see you there
Nico peeled himself from the hold of his twin-sized mattress. He shuffled to a pile of clothes that resided on the floor, scouring for something that wasn't yesterday's clothes to wear. He slipped on a sweatshirt and pulled the hood on; it was a hood-up kind of day. Before he left he swiped a pair of sunglasses laying on his nightstand, his last hope to buffer his headache from the sober world.
He came to find that it didn't help much.
His groggy walk brought him to the cafe doors earlier than he had anticipated, leaving him to anticipate Will's arrival. He stood idly at the cafe entrance with his hands stuffed in his pockets and his shoulders hunched. His head still pounded, and the talking of strangers passing by became sirens in his head. He had to remind himself this was all worth it for free breakfast.
Just before his waiting turned to worry, Will approached from down the street. The grasp around Nico's anxious heart subsided as he saw the familiar face.
"How are things going man!" He asked as he pulled the cafe door open with his good arm.
Nico couldn't ignore the headache piercing his skull, "Things could be better," he shrugged.
"Hey, once we get a little bit of breakfast, I'm sure things will get much better."
The inside of the cafe treated Nico's hangover much better than the outside had. The cool air and quiet atmosphere were exactly what he needed that morning. He silently thanked Will for being kind of a genius.
As soon as the two settled into their seats, Nico let his head lay on the table. Will gave him a sympathetic smile.
"That bad, huh?" He asked. Nico only nodded in response.
"Let me order for you. I know exactly what will help you out, dude."
"I will do anything, as long as it gets rid of this headache," Nico groaned as he propped himself up, resting his head on his hands, "Thanks for offering me breakfast."
"Thanks for carrying my groceries for me," Will grinned.
Before long, a waitress sauntered over, placing a pitcher of ice water and two cheap plastic cups in front of the two. She asked for their orders, of which Will ordered for the two of them.
Nico tuned their conversation out, getting lost in the scene outside their window. He watched the cars pass by, his eyes hidden by his sunglasses.
Will pushed a cup of water towards him to reel him back into the present.
"You need to rehydrate," he prompted. Nico did as he was told, and took small sips from the cup.
"How's your day been so far?" Nico asked.
"Pretty good. Though, I feel bad saying that to your face," Will joked. Nico shot him a look Will could see even through the dark glasses.
Will chuckled, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He put his hands up in defeat.
"How was the rest of the party?" Nico asked.
"Honestly? I didn't stay much longer after you went home. I checked in with my friends to make sure they were fine then called it a night. Guess it was just kinda boring without you there, starting fights and all."
Nico covered his face with his hands, "God, don't remind me about that," he grumbled.
"What? I thought it was sweet," Will responded.
"Yeah, I don't know," Nico started, "Drunk me thought I was doing something great, but my sister totally chewed me out for it this morning."
"Why?"
"I guess she's friends with the guy who hosted the party... And he's not too thrilled to have a hole in his wall, which could technically be my fault? I don't know," He explained.
"Oh, does your sister go to school?" Will asked.
"Yeah, she's a freshman, studies early education."
"Oh, that's cool," Will engaged. Then his eyebrows furrowed, and his expression became confused, "Can I ask a question?"
"That depends. What's the question?" Nico's tone was apprehensive.
"How come you don't go to school?"
Before Nico had the chance to respond, the waitress had returned and plates were being unloaded on the table in front of him. He looked down at the mystery meal Will had ordered for him.
"What the fuck is this?" Nico exclaimed, "Is this spinach in my breakfast?"
"Oh my god," Will rolled his eyes, "You know, everything on that plate is what they recommend you eat to get rid of a hangover."
"Okay, you know what? Fine. I'll eat your weird healthy breakfast, only because it's gonna make me not feel like my brain is trying to rot inside my skull."
He grabbed at a fork and stabbed his omelette with it, and took a bite.
"Oh shit," He spoke behind a mouthful of food.
"What?" Will gave a concerned look, glancing up from his own breakfast.
"This is actually really good," Nico admitted why a shy smile.
"See? It's not that bad. And it's good for you."
"Will," Nico began, "I want you to look at me in the eyes, and recall everything you know about me, which, granted, isn't a lot," He paused to take another bite of food, "And ask yourself if I really seem like the type of person who cares about which foods are good for me or not."
Will raised his eyebrows. For a second, Nico thought he had offended him, but Will erupted into that contagious laughter of his. Nico joined in, giving in to the pull of the laughter.
Will shook his head, his chuckles slowing to a stop, "Man, I guess you're right."
Will looked at Nico and smiled. Nico glanced back, if only for a second, and reciprocated the grin.
Then he felt the phone in his pocket buzzing. He reached down into his pocket and gave a quick 'sorry give me a second' to Will before answering.
"Hello?"
"Nico! Are you gonna show up for your shift? I've told you before man, you gotta give me notice if you're gonna be late."
Shit.
It was his manager.
"I wasn't on the schedule for today, I thought," Nico defended. Will looked up from his plate and gave a concerned look.
"Should have double-checked, I needed you here thirty minutes ago."
Shiiiiiit.
"Okay. I'll be there as soon as possible,"
"How long is that going to be?" His manager's voice rang through the phone.
"I don't know... I'm not at home right now, and I'm walking so... It could be twenty-five minutes. I'm so sorry, I didn't know I had a shift today."
"Do whatever you can to get here, I need your ass down here now. We're having a rush and we're understaffed."
"Right, okay. See you in a few," Nico responded, and ended the call.
"Do you gotta go?" Will asked, disappointment hidden in his tone.
Nico pursed his lips, "I'm so sorry. I had no idea I was on the schedule, but I gotta go now or I am so fucking fired."
"Do you need a ride?"
"Will, no, I can't ask you to do that. You're already paying for my meal," Nico explained.
"Nico, it's totally fine! I don't mind at all," Will insured, "I picked up my car from the shop yesterday, so we're good to go!"
Nico's brows furrowed while he contemplated the offer. After a moment, he agreed.
"I'm only accepting because I needed to be there, like, 30 minutes ago," Nico said, as he began to pack his things and leave. Will left a pile of cash that would cover the bill plus tip, and the two hurried out of the restaurant, and towards Will's beat up SUV.
When Nico walked through the back door of his restaurant job, he was met with several pissed coworkers and his manager.
"He finally shows up!" his coworker, Jason, exclaimed.
"About fuckin' time!" another employee called out. Nico ignored his coworkers teasing, and snatched his uniform from his locker, and threw it on, trying to smooth the wrinkles out while tugging on the sleeve. He clocked in, and rushed to the front of the house, to take his position.
As he sped to his spot, he bumped into his manager, whose only words were a muttered 'glad you could make it.' Nico gave a shy smile and grabbed a handful of menus before settling at his stand.
Working at a five-star restaurant was kind of like maintaining a well oiled machine -- if well oiled machines could be a dysfunctional team that somehow maintained the image of perfection on the surface. It was a stressful job, but it paid decently, all things considered, and sometimes Nico even liked his coworkers. In the very least, they were usually tolerable.
But today, Nico was up against the edge, still half hungover, and in the middle of a rush, he wished he could still be enjoying Will's company. Something about Will made his heart feel still.
Despite his longing to be elsewhere, Nico was, unfortunately, stuck at his job, taking the orders of people who didn't know mediocre, overpriced food if it hit them in the face. His least favorite part of the job was the customers, but then again, Nico was fairly sure if you asked any food service worker, they would say the same thing.
This rang especially true today. He was getting a headache (And no, it wasn't just the remnant of his hangover) listening to an older woman complain about her food. He had tried to tune her out maybe five minutes into the lecture about why her food sucked, and why she deserved a refund with a complimentary meal, but he could still hear the echo of her nasally voice through his dissociative state. After the lady finished her spiel, Nico resumed his customer service voice and assured her she would be satisfied with a new meal, per company policy, and left the table.
He walked into the kitchen, ready to announce that he was going on break when his coworker slammed into him. Now, if his coworker had been empty handed, maybe everything would have been fine. But she wasn't, instead, she had been carrying out a meal, which was now plastered all over Nico's white, formal uniform.
Are you fucking kidding me?
"Oh my god! I am so sorry!" She exclaimed. Nico could feel the frustration and annoyance bubbling in his chest, rising up his throat. He shut his eyes, and inhaled, reopening his eyes as he exhaled.
"I am going on break," He spoke in monotone, attempting to disguise any anger in his voice. He dragged himself out back, and slumped onto a crate to sit on. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed.
Today's shift fucking sucked.
He pulled out his phone. In his notifications was a text from Will. The anger and frustration that held Nico's heart began to loosen its grasp.
Will: How's work? Hope you haven't been fired yet lol
Nico: not fired yet, just got angry looks from my coworkers for being 40 minutes late during a rush
Nico: maybe it's deserved though, it'd be pretty mad if i were them
Will: I mean, in your defense you didn't know about your shift, and you seemed like you genuinely felt bad so I wouldn't beat yourself up too badly :)
Nico: thanks, haha
Will: Quick question, do you have a ride home?
Nico: no i usually just walk home
Will: Do you want a ride? I'd feel bad if I just dropped you off with no way to get back home
Nico: you can't keep doing favors for me like this
Nico: I get off late anyway, you probably wouldn't want to drive around by the time I get off
Will: What time is your shift over?
Nico: uh
Nico: seven
Will: That's not even late
Nico: i don't need a ride, i'll be fine, i promise
Nico: thanks for the offer tho
Will: I will take it as a personal offense if you don't accept this offer, Nico
Nico: dont tell me that
Nico: like seriously though, i can't let you do this
Will: I feel bad just dropping you off like that!
Nico: i walk home all the time, its okay! i promise
Will: How often do you walk home hungover?
Nico: i mean, im not even hungover anymore so
Nico: but now that you've offered, it would be nice not to walk home for once
Nico: im only agreeing because you're practically begging me at this point
Will: I'll be waiting out back at 6:50 ;)
Nico shook his head and smiled, replacing the phone in his pocket.
As he smiled to himself, the back door swung open. Jason peered his head from around the door. He gave Nico a funny look.
"I don't think I've seen you smile before," He paused to think, "Ever."
"Oh, come on," Nico protested, "That's not fair."
"What's got you so happy? Surely not work, not after the shift you're having," Jason commented.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Nico taunted Jason.
"Don't be like that," Jason chastised, "Anyhow, boss wanted me to tell you that he wants you back inside, it's starting to get busy again."
"Tell him I'll be back out there in five minutes. Also, do you have a spare shirt I can borrow?" Nico asked, gesturing down to the mess that was now staining his shirt.
"I was just about to offer you my spare shirt. It's in my locker, let me go get it," Jason replied, holding the door open for Nico. He followed Jason inside as the heavy door slammed behind the two.
The rest of Nico's shift didn't improve by much, but at least he had something to look forward to. By the end of his shift, he never felt so welcomed by his hoodie and casual clothes, that hung loosely off his frame rather than the suffocating hug his work uniform gave him.
Clocking out was the best part of his day.
He walked out back, shoving the door out of the way and giving a curt goodbye to his coworkers. Will's car idled in the back alley behind the restaurant, awaiting his arrival. Will waved when he saw Nico emerge from the building.
"Hey, Nico!" Will exclaimed as Nico pulled the car door open.
"Hey Will," Nico started, "Thanks again for picking me up. I know I resisted at first, but like, I'm actually so glad I agreed. Would have been pissed if I were walking home right now."
"Man I don't know how you do it, walking every day" Will agreed.
"I mean you get used to it, but after some shifts I definitely wish I knew how to drive."
"So what, you never learned?"
"I mean, I never really felt the need to? Like some days I'm like 'yeah a car would be nice,' but most days I'm perfectly fine without."
"Have you ever thought about learning?" Will asked, glancing at Nico from the side of his eye as he drove.
"I don't know... I've always told myself I'd learn at some point, but I keep putting it off. Why?"
"I could teach you now, if you'd like," Will gave Nico a smile that meant trouble.
"What? No, Will, I'll total your car."
"It'll be fun! There's an empty parking lot we'll pass on the way back to your place, we can stop there and I can just show you the basics."
"What if I hit something?"
"Nico, dude, this car is worth at very most a total of 500 dollars. I wouldn't be ruined if this thing suffered a few bumps. It's the perfect car to learn in, you can't do any more damage to it than it has already suffered."
"I mean, I guess I don't have anything else going on tonight..." Nico gave a hesitant response.
"It'll be fun, I promise!" Will said as he flicked his turning signal and pulled into the empty lot. He put the car in park and opened the door.
"Okay, switch places with me," He prompted.
"Uh, okay," Nico gave some thought to hesitation, before stepping out of the passenger seat and into the driver's.
"Okay, look at the floorboard. Do you know which pedal is the brake and which one is for gas?" Will asked.
"Uh, the big one's the brake, right? And the small one is the gas?" Nico gave an answer even he doubted to be correct.
"Yeah! Okay, now put your foot on the brake," He instructed. Nico did as he told, gripping the steering wheel so tightly he thought he might break it.
"Great, now grab the gearshift, and put it into drive," Will explained, "You know how to do that?"
"Uh," Nico choked on his own words, "No?"
"That's okay!" Will assured. He reached over to gently hold Nico's hand, as he placed it on the gearshift. With his hand over Nico's, he pulled the gearshift into place.
"Now you're in gear!" He exclaimed with a bright grin. Nico's hand started to shake underneath Will's.
"What you wanna do now is let your foot off the brake, slowly though," As Will began, Nico lifted his foot off, and the car began to roll.
"Oh fuck the car is moving now," Nico cursed under his breath.
"You're doing good! The car is gonna move slowly as long as you don't hit the brakes. Now, I want you to take the same foot you just used the brakes with, and very slowly, press on the gas."
Nico placed a foot on the gas, and the car jerked forward.
"Oh god, I'm sorry," Nico groaned.
"Don't be! You're doing good!" Will encouraged, "Try again."
Nico lowered his foot back onto the pedal, and the car lurched once more. Surprised by the movement, he took his foot off the gas, giving Will a concerned look.
"It can be tricky to get the hang of, but you're doing really good so far!" He encouraged.
Nico's foot hovered over the pedal. Carefully, he began to press weigh to the pedal. The car began to move faster.
"Hey, there you go!" Will exclaimed, "You got it! Now, see if you can speed up a bit."
Nico pressed on the pedal, and the car roared, picking up speed. As the car gained speed Nico lost confidence, his chest began to feel tight. He could feel his hands tremor as he gripped the wheel, and he began to feel his throat close up. He slammed a foot into the brakes. The car screeched to a stop, causing both himself and Will to lurch forward in their seats. Nico's knuckles had turned white around the steering wheel.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Nico repeated, "I think... I think I'm done. Let's switch back."
"You were doing so well though!" Will reassured.
"No, I think I'm done," Nico confirmed, placing the car back into park.
"Oh, okay," Will's smile fell.
His shaky hands and nerves calmed once Nico returned to the passenger seat. He let out the breath he had been holding and rubbed his arms.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to overwhelm you," Will said as he slid back into the driver's seat.
"Will, it's not your fault. I've... I've never been good at managing my nerves while driving. My dad gave up trying to teach me years ago because I'd just freak out whenever I was behind the wheel. I guess I thought this time would be different? I don't know..."
Nico felt a hand on his shoulder. Will ran a thumb over the skin on his shoulder.
"It's okay," Will ensured, giving a small smile to Nico, "I just hope I didn't make you feel pressured to do something you didn't want to."
"No! Of course not, I just thought I could actually do it this time. I mean there's a reason why I don't drive."
"You wanna talk about it?" Will asked.
"There's not much to talk about. It's just, like, my nerves... I just get so anxious behind the wheel. It's always been like that," Nico explained, fidgeting with his hands, "Like, I just personally think I shouldn't drive. There are some people out there who just don't drive, and maybe I should just commit to being one of those people."
"It takes practice," Will comforted, "You'll get it if you give it a chance."
"I don't know Will," Nico shook his head, "I can't drive in an empty parking lot, and I can't even imagine how I'd manage on a road with other cars. I don't know how you do it, especially with a broken arm, oh my god."
"I'm telling you, it's just practice. I mean, I guess the arm thing is a little hard to get around, but, I'm doing fine now, I think," Will spoke.
"Does it still hurt? Your arm?" Nico asked.
Will examined his arm, observing the curve of the cast, "No, not unless I move it the wrong way."
"I feel bad, you like, broke your arm," Nico began, "You said you've been playing lacrosse for seven years? And now, all of a sudden you just stopped? Don't you miss it?"
"I mean, yeah, I put so much of my time into it and spent so many years practicing. It was my sport and I loved it. And then, after I left the hospital, after talking to my coaches and telling them I was done... I realized, y'know, that I had put on my jersey, and played for the last time, without even knowing it, and that... That kinda sucked."
Nico nodded, watching Will as he spoke, "This whole thing sounds like it's been pretty hard on you."
Will turned to Nico, "This... may sound so stupid," Will laughed, "But you are so easy to talk to. Like being around you is just easy."
Nico smiled and nodded, "No, I get what you're saying."
He sighed and looked down at the floorboard.
"Guess I should be getting you home though, right?" Will asked as he started the engine. He pulled out of the lot and accelerated onto the road towards Nico's house. Will studied the road as Nico watched streetlights speeding by, their lights beginning to illuminate as the sun began to fall. A hazy shade of grey began to blanket the sky, and stars began to peek out from behind the veil. Will turned his head to steal a glance at Nico. For maybe a second, he let himself admire Nico's profile and the curve of his nose, the bend of his jawline, before pulling his gaze back towards the road.
He pulled into the apartment lot he had left Nico in the night before. As he pulled in, Nico looked like he was about to say something, maybe in protest, but ultimately decided against it.
Nico gave Will a soft smile and thankful eyes, "Thanks for the ride, Will."
"It's no problem, anytime," Will assured. He wanted to say more, but the back of his mind told him to remain silent, despite the pull in his chest. He didn't want this to be the last time he'd see Nico. He also didn't want to return to his empty apartment. He wasn't ready to be his only company again.
"Hey," Nico said, from outside the car, holding the door open and leaning in, "Text me later. Let me know what your schedule looks like so we hang out again. You're a fun guy to be with."
The tug at Will's chest rested, "Oh! Yeah, for sure!"
Nico closed the door, and left with a wave, as Will's car began to roll out of the lot.
Will exhaled a shaky breath, the feeling of loneliness beginning to flood his lungs. It was suffocating. He drove home, trying not to lose himself to the feeling
As he walked into his empty home, he felt a buzz from his pocket. He opened his phone and saw Nico had sent a text.
just caught wind of a party happening tomorrow, any chance you're able to go? ;)
Will smiled to himself and felt some of the loneliness began to fade.

Please Don’t Plagiarize My Work!
When you first met Maeve, you didn’t think anything but hate could come of your relationship.
The first thing she said to you was: “Fuck off.” You accidentally bumped into her in the hallway, making her drop all her books. She only snarled those very words when you tried to apologize, and from then on you managed to form your own grudge for her, one of absolute chance. Maybe, if you hadn’t met that day, you two could have hit it off right away. But that’s not how it happened.
It was safe to say that you didn’t hate her; you hated the fact that she hated you, for some reason. Just because you caught her (or, pushed her) at a bad time, the two of you had to fix your glares to each other in the hall, or in class. It was like a game of who could hate the other more: whether it be through glares, words, or middle fingers, the two of you were in a constant battle of hate.
After a while, your hate for her subsided. You actually looked forward to hearing her newest remark and couldn’t wait to see her reaction when you spit out yours. You couldn’t hide the hope in your eyes when you found her in the library, waiting for her to look up so you could reach into your pocket and pull out your middle finger. And you would be lying if you weren’t ecstatic that you were paired with her for an English project.
Once you approached her, watching her lick her lips as she turned the page of her newest read, you realized this hatred was more of a lust. Though you had thought about it before, you never fully put the pieces together.
And then you two were in your room, grudgingly trying to work on your project while also trying to keep your hands to yourselves. It was only an hour of solid work when you suddenly felt the air in the room become a thin string of sexual tension, being cut off when she finally turned to you and grabbed your face in her hands, pulling you into a desperate kiss. You tangled your hands in her hair and let her push you back on the bed, quickly ripping your clothes off and ridding yourselves of the long awaited intimacy that had been clouding in your eyes ever since you bumped into each other.
And ever since then, you had been seeing each other quite often. Friends with benefits, as people called it. Though, you weren’t friends, not yet. You were just benefits, meeting up in the breaks of class and the free time you had after school just for a solid fuck. You weren’t complaining; Maeve was hot, and you were into it, and you didn’t care if that meant sneaking around to be with her. It was just benefits, like you two agreed, and it would stay that way. At least, that’s what you thought.
Slowly, you spent more time together; after a good makeout session in the asbestos bathrooms, you would end up talking about classes, books, movies, bands. You weren’t lethal with each other anymore, not even outside of your “relationship”. You just ignored each other in the ‘real world’, or the world outside of your little secret. But when you were together, the small whispers and soft touches after the sex was what you really looked forward to. Which is when you realized you were catching feelings.
So you told Maeve that. You told her you two should probably stop, that this friends with benefits was becoming more ‘friends’ than ‘benefits’, and you knew she wouldn’t want that. But surprise overtook you when she declined your offer to stop seeing each other, and instead said: “We should see where it ends up. Like an experiment.”
An experiment. You had never been good with science, but you supposed an experiment couldn’t hurt. And it didn't, at first. It actually felt really, really good. You both had a lot more in common than you thought, and your chemistry was much more meaningful than it had been when it was all based on sex. Now, the two complimented each other, and you felt like you were in a state of euphoria.
You two still kept your relationship a secret, because you both weren’t out yet and didn’t want to hear all the gossip and drama that would undoubtably commence. Or maybe it was the thrill of the secrecy, of this little pact between the two of you.
And everything would have stayed the same if Eric hadn’t caught you two making out in the asbestos filled bathroom shortly after your lunch period. Later, you told Maeve you were lucky he didn’t find you two a little bit later, where you would’ve probably had your hand down her pants, but she just rolled her eyes.
“I won’t tell anyone, I swear,” Eric said, fearful by the way Maeve clenched her jaw and held eye contact a little too strongly.
“Maeve, it’s fine,” you said, laying a hand on her shoulder. She ripped herself away from your grasp, but didn’t see the hurt in your eyes.
“I really won’t tell,” Eric said again, this time turning to you. He hadn’t known you too well, but well enough; you had been friendly with him during Maeve’s work with the ‘clinic’, and you nodded your head at the boy with a small smile.
“It’s okay, Eric. I trust you.” You watched the boy fumble away, still shocked by Maeve’s intimidation. She hadn’t been like that with him, or you, for a long time.
“That was kind of hot,” you remarked dumbly, hoping your rash comment would crack a smile in her angry face. But she didn’t even twitch, and you nearly face palmed as you watched her grab her bag. You softened your eyes, now realizing she was upset. Really upset. “What’s wrong?” You asked calmly, already knowing she wouldn’t tell you, at least not right away.
“Nothing,” she said, pushing past you with a glint of pain in her eyes. “I’ll see you later.”
You waited for her text, for her to tell you she was pissed or at least invite you over to talk. But the text never came. It was painful, watching your phone and only seeing the background of you two flipping the bird at the camera. You turned your eyes away, trying to focus on class. But how could you? Maeve was upset, and when Maeve was upset, you were upset. You two were like that. Always connected, even though no one else knew about it.
No one else knew about it. It had started to bother you more recently; the fact that you couldn’t hold her hand in the hallways, couldn’t kiss her cheek goodbye unless it was behind closed doors. You couldn’t make out in the main hallway of school, even though you both thought that was tacky and disgusting. But the idea that you couldn’t made you want it, and you wanted her so bad. You had her, but no one else could see. And you wanted them to see.
So, you were kind of glad when Eric found you. It was like a weight lifted from your chest, and your heart filled with hope at the chance of being with Maeve, in public. But then Maeve was upset, angry, distant. And now you were too.
She couldn’t avoid you for long; at least, that’s what you told yourself as you waited at your usual meet up in the asbestos bathroom. She hadn’t texted you all night, and you had begun to feel like you lost her, or wonder if you even had her to begin with. And all day you wondered that: does she think of me as much as I think of her? Did she even want this relationship to begin with? Was this ‘experiment’ going as far for her as it was for you? Or were you really just friends with benefits?
No. You refused to believe that. But the nagging in your brain wouldn’t stop, and you decided to go to the boy who maybe, somehow, could help you.
“Just talk to her,” Otis said simply after you spilled your entire story to him.
“That’s it?” He shrugged, unbothered by the harshness of your tone. You rolled your eyes but thanked him nonetheless, and got away from him as quick as possible. Could’ve come to that conclusion myself, you thought; but the truth was, you were purposefully procrastinating the talk you needed to have with Maeve, and Otis’ advice only made you mad because you knew it was true. Which is why you found Maeve at school soon after, in the library, and stood in front of her until she looked up from her book.
“We need to talk,” you said, grabbing her hand in public- though not the way you had always wanted to - and bringing her to one of the non-asbestos infested bathrooms. You looked at her seriously, trying to catch her eyes as they looked anywhere but you. “You’re avoiding me,” you said, ignoring the crack in your voice and the tears welling up in your eyes. You thought you wouldn’t cry, but now that you saw her, in front of you but still so distant, you couldn’t help but feel your throat tighten.
She clenched her jaw and glanced at you, quick, like it pained her to even to that. “No, I haven’t.”
“Are you serious?” You watched her face through blurry, tear filled eyes. “Ever since Eric saw us, you’ve been so distant…and I want to know why.” You wiped the tears on your cheeks angrily. “Are you testing me? Is this a part of our ‘experiment’? Or…is this some reverse psychology shit to make to break up with you?”
“No!” She jumped forward, placing a hand on your arm. You nearly pulled away, but the softness of her fingers make your heart nearly burst. “I don’t want to break up with you. Not at all.”
“What is it then?”
She took a deep breath, leaning against the sink behind her. “Do you know how long people have called me cockbiter?”You didn’t bother answering, knowing she would tell you anyway. “Too long. And do you know what they would say if they knew about you? About us?”
“Of course I do.” You frowned, a dry laugh escaping your lips. “I hear what they say behind those other girls' backs. I hear what they say everyday, and even though it’s not about me, or us, I still feel lit like it is. And if hearing that shit means that I get to spend time with you and share how much I love you to the world, then so be it.”
She turned to you, eyes wide. It looked like a bit of fear and surprise swirling in her glance, but tears welled up in her eyes as well. “You love me?”
You didn’t realize you said it, but now that you had, it was so clear. Instead of responding, you took a step forward, placing your hands on her cheeks and laying a soft kiss on her lips. “If you aren’t ready, it’s okay. But I don’t want to keep us a secret forever.”
She looked at you, the anger that you two once held dissipating into the air. It was strange to think that once upon a time you hated each other, and for such a dumb reason. But now, looking into her eyes, all you could see was love - even if she didn’t say it.
“If you aren’t ready, it’s okay,” you found yourself saying again, still holding onto Maeve like she would run away any second.
She looked at you, almost suddenly, with determination in her eyes. “I’m ready.”
And the two of you walked out of the bathroom, hand in hand, not giving a fuck about the people around you; you didn’t hear the slight murmurs or see the all too obvious posting of fingers. You both just focused on each other, on what your love was and what it would become, and you smiled wide at the thought that your love was no longer a secret.

warnings: alludes to drugs (selling), blood bruise mention, gun mention, and themes of stalking and abuse
┍━━━━━━━✿━━━━━━━┑
Minho had always been the head between the two of them. Jisung had always been much too emotional. It wasn’t that he wasn’t smart- Jisung had a showcase of talents, a variety of things that he was incredibly good at. It never used to be a big deal, not before they had started the ‘band.’ The nine of them had always been best friends, growing up the same block in a not so great area of the city? They knew, even as children, that they needed each other. Their chances as a group were far better than their chances as individuals. When they were younger, Jisung always got crushes easily. And it wasn’t the kind of thing was he would get one and then leave when someone else caught his eye. No, he fell in love with the strangest things. At least, what Minho considered strange. Jisung had gotten crushes on the little things that people did. Minho remembered that once, he had ended up confessing to someone in high school because of how they laughed. Because Jisung adored making them laugh. Within this same field, he had always been the more empathetic of the group. One day, while the rest of the boys played tag around the playground, Jisung came crying over. A bird’s mother had dropped the baby bird, and in its weak attempt to fly- it died. And Jisung was crying, sobbing over the fact that there was nothing he could do to save the bird. No one but Chan knew how to comfort Jisung properly, and even then it would take a while.
It had always been endearing, a charismatic character trait until their band. It started sophomore year of high school. Really, it turned out they were all inclined to the arts when they had taken a music and dance class in middle school. But that wasn’t the sort of thing you could be proud of, not around here. Eventually, the school pulled the funding for the class anyway. But their passion hadn’t died, and instead of meeting up to play rough or cause trouble in some public places, they san, dance, rapped. It felt transformative, and when they got their first gig- an underground club agreed to let them perform their music, they were over the moon. It was all the group of boys could talk about, becoming the conversation topic sooner or later.
Minho had known that the club would’ve been sketchy- every underground club around here only had one to be underground. And even if the rest of the boys pretended not to be aware, he was. Their performance was lively in the beginning, everyone pouring their soul into the performance but even when they realized that there was not-so-discreet deals, the passing of handshakes, angel dust crumbs still lingering on people’s nose. Maybe it was because they had nothing to compare it to at the time, but the crowd was nothing they’ve ever seen before. They were dancing, shouting, screaming the lyrics. Maybe it was wrong, they all knew there was something immoral about this- but they had never felt so accomplished. Misguided as they were, they all had an idea about what they were getting themselves into.
Jisung had mixed feelings, after the performance he was crying again. Both out of happiness, the thrill of singing, rapping, dancing- performing with an audience. But he felt as if he had wronged them somehow. As if he was the one selling them the packets, and soon, too soon, he would be. Jisung was the only one on the fence about doing so, even after the entirety of the group had decided: it was wrong, but necessary. There were worse they could do. Even the youngest had come to that conclusion in a matter of a few weeks. It wasn’t that they tried going it by the traditional way, uploading it online- seeking companies. But if they didn’t reject them altogether, producers would want to cut members of the group out. And it was nine or none. Chan, who was usually composed, would cry after they had gotten rejected- or if someone had said that a group member ‘just didn’t have it.’ It felt as though it was a failure on his part.
Until one day they just had enough.
Jisung had come around eventually. And quickly, very quickly, they had risen in popularity. They were a regular at NOT!, an underground club that had become exclusive when they didn’t have enough room to house all their fans. Stray kids, their self given name, were still giving their all within each and every performance. But behind the scenes, there they were moving and selling packages like there was no way they could be caught. But, this life was missing its flaws. One night, an incident occurred- it had to happen sometime. They were just lucky that no one had died. Shots were fired in NOT!, and although no one had died, it was enough to rupture chaos within the mix of sober and high people.
Jisung had cried that night.
It was only later that they learned that members of N/S had found their way into the club. The boys weren’t stupid, they knew it was risky to sell in their vicinity- but what they weren’t aware of, was how risky. As their popularity with the locals and city folk arose, so did the competition against N/S. And N/S didn’t appreciate it, not one bit. That night, everyone had looked over to Chan and Woojin, hoping they would have some type of answer.
But they didn’t.
The club owner made a suggestion to them, an offer. That night, each boy, regardless of license- left with a gun. They had reached the point of irreversible change. They were in it for the long run now, and there was no backing out. Tensions grew and grew between the two gangs, even though Woojin and Chan refuse to call it that. To them, Stray Kids was a band, and it was just a band. But they had collected fans, ones that could relate to their cause and because of that, they considered the tension between Stray Kids and N/S their fight to win, too. But they refused to stop making music, stop trying to be successful within their own realm. The boys began to leave behind the dealings, reduced the number of packages they moved. But the tension in the city was growing until it smothered everyone. But N/S didn’t care, and one day the unpredictable happened. A black car drove by and ended up hitting Jisung in the side of his thigh. Everyone was livid then, even after Jisung had fully recovered. Now, it was decided, that it was shoot on sight.
Jisung didn’t cry that night.
So, when Jisung talked about ____ so dreamily, the group had some major concerns.
“I understand, I know you really like them,” Chan was staring at his laptop, composing a new song as Woojin played some notes for him on the piano, “But it’s risky, you should wait until things die down.” Woojin played a melody and nodded his head. “I agree, this isn’t something you should be considering right now,” Woojin added, “We can still meet them ___, but you’ll have to distance yourself after that.” As if the last part hadn’t quite registered, Jisung immediately became hyper-active again, scrambling notes for lyrics in a notebook, all about ___.
It wasn’t that Minho didn’t like ___, they were a good person. They were kind and mellowed Jisung out. It was good to see a little more emotional ever since the drive-by. But Minho always thought when Jisung didn’t.
“You shouldn’t get ___ involved,” Minho sat Jisung down, “It’s already dangerous for you. You’re always talking about how anxious and careful they are, how much they care about you. You can’t involve them.”
“But I’m not,” Jisung said curtly, “I’m going to be careful.”
“You can’t promise anything, not when you know what we do.”
Minho felt like he was the only one willing to face reality, aware of both the damage and good they were doing. The good and evil they were capable of. He was the only one of the few who had come to terms with his mortality, the others opting to live in a dreamscape.
But nightmares would soon trespass.
The night of the flower shop incident, things had gone to shit real fast. The number of gunshots had increased exponentially, the feds cracking down on everybody. But somehow, never being able to find enough, the truth hidden somewhere in angel dust. The boys had chosen to go off the grid and warned Jisung if he didn’t, then ___ wouldn’t just be missing Jisung, they would be mourning over him. So he chose the lesser of two evils, disappearing in the dead of night.
Minho wasn’t usually one to act outside of the group’s decision, believing that for everyone to be able to get along- cooperation is key. But he thought it was strange, each member experiencing some sort of life-threatening event once leaving the karaoke bar? And ___’s shop getting the worst of it? So, before the boys woke up, Minho made his way to the flower shop.
He hadn’t expected to see you though, and he most definitely didn’t expect to have you caught in the crossfires. And once Minho had told the group what happened, there was no stopping Jisung from returning to the shop.
Very few times had Minho seen Jisung angry, and never, never had he seen Jisung as enraged as he was that night. Jisung was nearly fuming, Minho could imagine steam coming off of him. And as Jisung found the ex, sleeping in your bed, after obviously going through your stuff- being an awful, disgusting creep. Jisung had nearly killed him and would have if the guy wasn’t a good fighter. Jisung dragged him out of your room, and he toppled down the stairs like a bag of bricks. He had finally decided to run off, and Jisung was too angry to be relieved that the guy didn’t have a gun, or any weapon to fight back. This feeling in Jisung was primal, but the adrenaline had to come down sometime, and then, and only then did Jisung feel the pain of each cut and bruise that he had gotten, but not earned.
But he wanted to see you, he wanted to see you more than anyone he had ever wanted to see before. It was all he could think about as he toppled down in the guest room, hearing your cries. Even after he left that morning, he traced his fingers on his lips still thinking about you. He decided that he’d rather be beaten up several more times than ever have to see you in that state again. It became his mission, his life’s goal to take down N/S. It wasn’t easy, and after hearing that you were going to return to your beloved shop. He knew it was in vain, but he had to attempt to stop you- he couldn’t live with himself if he hadn’t at least tried, but that was before this. He would’ve never thought about this, not even in his nightmares could this have been happening.
You were in his arm, caught in a chokehold. Tears streaming down your face, gasping for air. The gun digging into the side of your head as Jisung pulled out his gun, pointing it at him.
“Go ahead,” he was laughing, face bright and happy, “But I’m not leaving without ___. To love and to hold, in sickness and in health. Up in heaven, or down on this hellish earth.”
Jisung didn’t know what to do, tears in his eyes as he shook, arms and beloved biceps trembling. He brought it down, face contorted with anger. And he watched, angry tears pouring out of his eyes as he watched you be taken away

WHAT DO YOU THINK ROMANCED COMPANIONS WOULD BE LIKE WAKING UP ON CHRISTMAS MORNING AND WHAT GIFT WOULD THEY BRING SOLE IM YELLING BECAUSE IM THINKING OF ALL THE CUTE FLUFF STUFF
Okay sooo, this wasn’t written by me but by my good friend @fantomofthehiddles, who did a super good job at this masterpiece. It’s under keep reading because it is long and amazing :P
[[Damn, Iturned this into an f!Sole before I realised what I was doing. So sorry, I’lldo better next time, I pwomise! ;__;]]
[[Also, sorry this turned to be as long as an average Ghoul lifespan…]]
Sole awoke one morning to find the worldcovered in snow. At first, she felt surreal, like in the old world, like justin a second she would hear Shaun shifting in his crib, crying for his mommy. But it wasn’t Nate who was still asleep next to her, and it wasn’t 2077anymore. It was just the thick layer of snow and halos of icicles hideverything that, up till now, did a very good job of reminding her the worldhad changed: ruined houses, dead trees with broken branches, ubiquitous debris, and even the yelloweed grass. She reached for her Pip-Boy, as she did everymorning, accidentally turning the knob to “Data”, and if it wasn’t for that, she wouldn’t even realize it was 25th of December already. And thenit hit her: this would be her first Christmas without Nate, without Shaun…without her family.
Cait
“Hey,darlin’, you okay?” Cait sat up next to her, wrapping the bedding around hernaked body to protect herself from the crispy tang in the air. Sole put her armaround her and nodded mindlessly, though the words “yeah, I’m fine” somehowdidn’t want to leave her throat. Cait’s eyes wandered to the Pip-Boy. “Oh, it’sChristmas, ain’t it?”
Solelaughed softly, though didn’t really feel it. “You forgot? Really?” She didn’tmention she would have almost forgotten it herself.
“Hey, whenyou haven’t any real holidays yer entire life, they just slip by.” She soundedalmost angry, but then she looked to the side, maybe even blushed a little, andsaid, “Well, I ain’t gonna spend it complainin’. I’m glad I have me darlin’ toshare it with.” And with a kiss on Sole’s cheek, she jumped out of bed andopened the trunk she kept her things in. “Here. I made this for ya. I know itain’t much, but… I’m not as good with me hands as you are.”
Sole turnedthe bladed knuckles in her hands. They were chrome-finished, polished to ashine, and the blades were so visibly sharp Sole didn’t feel the need to check. On the bottom, on the surface that would rest against her palm, Cait had engraved:“Give ‘em a taste, love” in surprisingly elegant letters. Sole started tosuspect she had had Sturges help her with these.
“Not much?”she teased. “I love them. Come here.” She pulled Cait back to the bed and gaveher a kiss, which soon turned into a much hungrier and sexier make-out session, until they finally pulled away, albeitwith some effort. “Now, what do you say we go for a walk to the Combat Zone andmake Tommy spend Christmas with us? And we could have MacCready come with us.”
Cait lookedat her in such surprise, she didn’t even notice her eyes teared up a little.“Nothing would make me happier, luv.” And after another second of staring atSole’s face in wonder, she smiled with clear, unbridled joy, a smile Sole sorarely got to see on Cait’s face, and said, “It’s nice, y’know, having afamily.”
Curie
“I havenever seen snow before, did you know?” Curie said, standing at the window, staring at the white roofs of Diamond City’s buildings. Sole walked over to herto embrace her from behind. She put her chin on Curie’s shoulder, looking out atthe view, and suddenly all the hard work she’d put into installing the windowwas worth it. The fluff was still falling, slowly, gently drifting to theground, clinging to the Christmas lights drawn across the square, and thechildren played below, having a snowball battle without care for any collateraldamage to walls and passers-by.
Sole dug her face in Curie’s neck, stifling acry as she realized she would never get to see Shaun, real Shaun, playing like that. She did adopt the synth Shaun, mostly for Curie’s sake; Curie, upon learning about the feud between theRailroad and the Institute, and how everyone else played into it, had been veryconcerned about how their relationship could be viewed by others. How Solecould be ostracized or even persecuted for loving her. How maybe she didn’treally like being with a synth. So Sole adopted the kid to calm her doubts, show her she really cared; but there was still a nagging voice in the back of hermind making her constantly aware that the ten-year-old boy, now running aroundTakahashi’s noodle stand in order to get a better angle at the ‘enemy team,’wasn’t her real son. Even though he acted like one and loved her like one. Hewasn’t her own.
But peopledidn’t know that, except for select few, like Curie, of course, or Nick who hadhelped her find Shaun in the first place, or X6. Everyone else though shereally did find her son at the Institute. Well, they weren’t really wrong.
“As much asI love this, ma belle,” Curie said, pulling Sole out from the dark corners of her mind, “we must get going. He havea lot to do today! You promised me carolling, remember?”
“I do,”Sole replied reluctantly. Oh, Piper was going to have a field day with them.
“Butfirst,” Curie continued, obviously ignoring her tone, “I have made a veryspecial gift for you, mon amour!” Shescuttled through the room, leaving Sole completely dumbfounded. They’d beenspending every waking moment together for weeks now. When did Curie manage toget her a gift without her noticing? And a hand-crafted one, at that? “Here, unwrap it! I read that unwrapping presents used to be an important traditionbefore the War. But I’m afraid I had to use pages from a children’s book. It iscolorful, yes?”
It wascolorful, and pretty. So much that Sole tried her best not to damage thepackaging too much, but Curie didn’t seem to mind. What emerged looked somewhatlike a leather collar, black, and quite elegant. There was a round piece ofplatinum at the front which seemed to have a purpose beyond just being adecoration.
“It doessomething, doesn’t it?” Sole asked, throwing Curie a mistrustful glance.
“Yes, see,if you put it on and press this button, it releases a mild chemical which willstop pain conduction from the neck down. It should make it more comfortable foryou to tend to your injuries in the field, when I am not there to help.Professor Scara helped me with the technology. She said it is called ‘achoker’, even though I don’t see why. Still, very useful, no? And I think youwill look very mignonne in it.”
“Oh, Curie,”Sole said, almost crying for some reason. “You’re the most amazing woman I’veever met. Thank you.”
“I knew you would like it!” Content, sheopened the window to shout: “Shaun, monpetit cœur! It is time to come home!” And as she turned back to Sole, “This shouldbe an interesting experiment. We should start with the Science Center, no? Myco-workers should be thrilled to have us.”
Sole turnedthe choker in her hands, feeling the texture of the soft leather, before sheput it on the side table. There would be time to test it later. Now, she wasabout to spend Christmas with her family.
Danse
“What was that about?” Sole heard Hancock’s voiceoutside the window.“Hell if I know,” Nick replied, they voices getting quieter as they walkedaway. Sole looked out the window to find Danse standing on the porch.
“Whathappened?” she asked.
“I smiled,”he replied, causing her to choke with stifled laughter. “And I told them ‘MerryChristmas’. I don’t think they liked it.”
“They wereprobably just surprised,” she said before walking out to the porch with him andpromptly shivering in the cold. Note to self: winter is not the time of year towalk out of the house in nothing but a nightgown. “Oh, shit, it’s cold.”
Danselooked her up and down. “That is indeed the case when you stand barefoot in thesnow.” Had he said it, he picked up against her protests that everyone wasgoing to see—
“It’s justfor a second,” he cut her off, dashing to the building across the street. AndSole, holding on to his strong, broad shoulders, suddenly didn’t mind. He sether down near the fire. “I actually have something for you that might be theanswer to your problem.” And from a locker, he pulled out… Maxson’s battlecoat?
“Wh… Pleasetell me you didn’t go back to the Prydwen to kill Elder Maxson for this,” shestuttered out, but as Danse began shaking his head with amusement, she noticedthere wasn’t any blood on it, and in fact, there weren’t any sign of wear atall.
“If I did,I wouldn’t be standing here right now,” he replied. “It’s just…” Shock onSole’s face deepened. She had never heard him not finish a sentence before.“You used to joke about how much you liked Maxson’s coat, so I thought I shouldmake one for you. Like I said once: if you want something, say it, and I’llmake it happen.” And he wrapped the coat around her bare shoulders, and shemarveled at how warm it was, how well it fit her, how even the lining was justright, and how…
“You madethis? On your own?” She still couldn’t believe it, even holding the damn thing inher hands.
“Well, theyalways encouraged us to work on our uniforms, and turns out, leather isn’t muchdifferent. I hope you like it.”
“Oh, Danse,I love it!” She jumped into his arms again just to give him a deep kiss. Andfeel his biceps, because why not. Danse in turn embraced her waist and huggedher close to steady her. She could feel his firm chest on hers even through hisclothes. As always, it made her remember Nate, just like every time Danse puton his power armor, she remembered Nate in his, and, just as always, shecouldn’t help thinking about how lucky she was. This is where she’d alwaysbelonged: in a soldier’s arms. “Thank you so much, hun’.”
Dansestumbled back into the wall as he put his forehead against hers, closed hiseyes, and momentarily lost his balance a bit; but Sole wasn’t worried. Even ifthey had fallen, Danse would make sure she landed safe on him. Nevertheless, there was something desperate in how he longed for her touch.
“Honey? What’s going on?” she asked gently, her hands against his face. He squeezed herwaist harder, to the point it almost hurt, but then he set her down again.
“I want totell you how important this is for me,” he said softly, looking straight intoher eyes. His fingers played with a strand of her hair, almost as if on theirown. “The last real Christmas I had was… all the way back in Rivet City, withCutler. Later, when we joined the Brotherhood… There always seemed to be moreimportant things to do. Holidays just seemed… silly. We’d give each other smallgifts for a few years, the even that stopped, and then he…” And now, for thefirst time since always, she heard his voice break. She rubbed his face withher hand, trying to give him some sort of comfort. He took a breath, thencontinued, “I just want you to know, this means a lot. Those memories withCutler are some of the most precious ones I have, and I feel blessed to be ableto add to them with you. You make me feel the same way he did: like I have afamily again.”
Hancock
Sole turnedand looked at Hancock, still sleeping soundly, his scarred lips slightly partedin steady breaths. His eyes were moving as he mumbled something in the linesof, “what the fucking fuck happened to this mutfruit?” Sole should havelaughed, but somehow, it only made her feel worse. She didn’t want to wake himfrom this obviously thrilling dream, but… She snuggled up to him, put her headon his bare chest, the warm ridges and crests scraping against her cheek. Ifshe felt chilly before, that was now completely replaced with the heatemanating from Hancock. She clinged to him with her entire body, blamingherself as he stirred awake.
“Hey,sunshine, what’s going on?” He threw his arm around her, squeezing her waistreassuringly.
“I’m sorryI woke you. I didn’t—”
“Come on,getting to spend more time with you? Nothing I’d like more In the world.” Hekissed her forehead and she nuzzled her face into his neck, breathing in hisscent. “So what’s up? Why are you like this? Come on, it’s Christmas.”
“I know…”
“Oh… Ohh.”He pulled her up onto himself until she was on top of him. He cupped her facein his hands, placed another gentle kiss on her lips. “I love you, Sole. I knowit’s not enough to fill the hole your family left in you, b— No, shit, don’tcry.”
Solecouldn’t help it. She clung to him again, bawling all over his shoulder, suddenly so overwhelmed by every bad and good thing she felt, she couldn’t holdit in anymore. She’d been gathering it up for the last three months, nevertalking much about it, never letting it out, because in this world, everyone’slives sucked, and most of them much worse than hers. She had it good, comparedto some. And she really did believe she’d left her old life behind, since thisone was, surprisingly, so much simpler. But apparently not.
Hancock heldher close, rocking them a little as he brushed her hair and gave it a fewkisses. She still couldn’t believe how well he understood, even though she knewit was killing him inside to see her still pining for the husband she had lost. For a dead man. Unless she found a way to truly put Nate out of her mind,Hancock would always feel like he does now: like he comes second to her. Andyet, he remained at her side, loving her unconditionally. Saying how he didn’tdeserve her, when truly, it was her who didn’t deserve him.
“I loveyou, too,” she said finally, having regained control over her shaky breathing.“And I’m so, so sorry.”
“Now, don’ttalk crap like that.” Hancock brushed her hair aside as she raised her tear-stainedface to look him in the eye. “You had a rough year. Rough two hundred years. You’ve got nothing to be sorry for.”
Shesnuggled up to him again, suddenly unable to speak again. Hancock gave her amoment which he seemed to enjoy just as much as she did, and then said: “Okay, that’s enough of being two emotional wrecks, we need to get going,” as helazily slapped her ass.
Sole satup, too surprised to throw him a black look. “What? Why?”
“We’rehaving a Christmas party at the Third Rail. Didn’t I tell you?” She shook herhead. “I could swear I told you. I did tell you to bring a dress, didn’t I? Well, anyway, it won’t be much of a party without everyone’s favorite mayor making anappearance, so why don’t you just…” And then he bluntly rolled her off of him.Sole, with a pained sigh, kept rolling until she almost fell off the bed andscrambled to her feet.
“Oomph…fuck.” She leaned against the wall, feeling her head explode, but like, in thedistance.
“Youalright?”
“Just a bitdizzy. And a headache.”
Hancockcame over to kiss her temple, but snorted along the way: “You’re spending waytoo much time with me.” But then a thought occurred to him and he frowned. “Ormaybe you’re sick?”
“Bullshit.I’m just tired.” As soon as she could move normally again, she began dressing, much to Hancock’s theatrical anguish. “It’s not like last night brought me muchsleep, exactly…”
“Yeah, sure, make it all my fault,” he teased as he pulled on his coat and fastenedthe belt across his chest. “You little vixen, you.”
Solechuckled. It absolutely was not his fault. He had just about fallen asleep whenshe’d decided to jump his bones. Oh, the poor bed.
Afterseveral minutes of him constantly interrrupting her as she tried to getdressed, they finally went down to the Third Rail, where the entire populace ofGoodneighbor was already gathered. As soon as Hancock walked in, everyonewelcomed him with an earth-shattering ‘huzzah!’ raising their glasses, which,as Sole suspected, were full thanks to his generosity. Oh, how easy it was tomake these people happy. Hancock waited for the commotion to die down—someonehanded him a glass of wine in the meantime and Hancock now thumped hisfingernails against it.
“I’d liketo make an announcement,” he said. “One a bit more elaborate than my usual ‘ofthe people, for the people’.” Everyone cheered anyway. “Okay, okay. Come on,folks. I just wanna say that Goodneighbor may have started as a place, but nowit’s about you. The people. Without you, there would be no Goodneighbor. And itmakes me more happy than I can say to be able to call myself your mayor andcall you my family.” Cheers and ‘aww’s broke out again.
“We loveyou, too, Hancock!” a man shouted.
“Now, now, don’t get too familiar, Joe, you’re not my type.” Hancock winked and Sole couldswear at least half the crowd pretended to faint while the rest laughedheartily. “Not to mention, and here we’re coming up on the second part of myannouncement that most of you probably know, I’m already spoken for.” Sayingthat, he pulled Sole in closer. The crowd cheered on, albeit less loudly, andsome of them murmured in an unsurprised agreement. Sole’s eyes met MacCready’s,who was sitting at the bar, and he smiled and put his glass up to her.
“Now I’dlike you all to come see the gift I got this one. Y’know, in hopes she’ll makegood use of it and come visit us a little more often.” People laughed again, and then most of them followed as Hancock led Sole out with his hand on herwaist.
“What thehell did you do, Hancock?” she murmured, blushing. For someone who got involvedin so much, she didn’t necessarily like being the center of attention.
“You’llsee, sunshine,” he replied in that low voice of his. Son of a bitch. Theywalked out into the cold, crispy air, smelling of smoke and winter. Snowcrunched beneath their feet as they took a left turn around the corner of theOld State House… and then she saw it. A beautiful silver vertibird, clearlyfreshly washed and polished, was sitting on the roof of Hotel Rexford. Anenormous red bow was somehow tied around the pilot’s cabin.
“What thefuck? John? What the actual fuck?” she stuttered, and he only stood there andgrinned proudly. “You can’t be serious! Whaa… How did you even…?”
“You knowhow Gunners will do anything for caps?… Yeah.”
“Do went tothe Gunners?!”
“More likecontacted them via a messenger, arranged a meet on neutral gr… Oh, stopfreaking out. They’re pretty reasonable when they hear the caps jingle, andthey do keep their gear in good condition.” Sole was still shaking her head athim with her eyes widened in honest shock, so he continued, “What was Isupposed to do? Go to the Brotherhood?”
“How aboutget me a smaller, more… manageable gift?”
“Stopwhining.” He kissed her to shut her up. Some of the more intoxicated partyerscheered them on as they rode the line between propriety and shamelessly makingout in public. Hancock pulled back a little, but still stayed close, and whenhe had her so close, his rough hands on both sides of her head, suddenly therewas no one else in the entire world. “It’s your fault, you know. Should neverhave said you’d like one of your own. You should’ve known I’d strive to make ithappen.” Sole let out an incoherent babble, hiding her red face in her hands.Hancock laughed and kissed her forehead. “Come on,” he said. “Let’s go spendChristmas with family.”
BONUS:
As theydescended back into the Third Rail, this time led by a small group of drunkNeighborhood Watch guards, singing a bawdy song as they stumbled down thestairs, Hancock and Sole were suddenly approached by Magnolia.
“I wantedto say, I’m happy for you two,” she said before they could even greet her.“You…” She put her finger on Sole’s chest. “You are one hell of a woman. Iwould know.” She winked and laughed with that perfectly calculated chuckle.“Take care of him, dear. And you, Hancock—don’t fuck it up.”
“Oh,Magnolia. I would never.” Again, with unbridled joy, he kissed Sole’s templewith such exhilaration, she couldn’t help but laugh. But she also couldn’t tearher eyes off of Magnolia’s fiery gaze. There seemed to be something else.
“But,still, in memory of old times…” She threw Sole a meaninful look, making herblush again, as she reached underneath her dress to take out a small package.“I’d like you to have this. I think it’ll suit you well.” And, saying that,Magnolia left a kiss on Sole’s cheek and went on to take her place at themicrophone and entertain the crowd as only she could. Sole opened the smallpacket to find a ruby-eyed ring with intricate engravings around the socket.Hell, it seemed to be older even than her. She stared at it in disbelief untilHancock gently took it from her.
“Well, I’llbe damned.” He said only before slipping it on her finger and then placing analmost theatrical kiss on her hand. “Now, milady… Shall we dance?”
Solelaughed and let him lead her down to the main room of the Third Rail. No onepaid much attention to them anymore, busy with their own friends andactivities. Only Whitechapel Charlie dipped his hat to them as they went past. They found a fairly quiet corner in MacCready’s VIP room, and as they dancedslowly to Magnolia’s voice seeping under the door, singing her specialinterpretations of the Christmas carols, Hancock embraced her close and kissedher neck gently, sending warm shivers down her spine. Until he suddenly jerkedhis head up.
“Wait. Whatdid Magnolia mean by ‘old times’?” he asked, watching her carefully. Soleblushed at the memory of Magnolia’s scent and deft fingers.
“Nothingmuch, love,” she said immediately, but Hancock’s grin made it clear he figuredit out anyway. She laughed at the face he made. Hancock kissed her deeply, andthen instead of dancing, she was in his arms again as he put his hand on theback of her head and refused to let go. And when they pulled back, they wereboth panting hard, and she could see his thoughts written clearly on his partedlips and lustful gaze.
“Goddammit,John,” she said immediately. “We are notdoing this in MacCready’s room with everyone on the other side of the door.”
“Mm, you’reright…” he mumbled, but still didn’t let her go. “But why not?”
MacCready
She allowedherself several minutes to shed a few tears over the life she used to have, butthen a pitter-patter of small feet sounded in the short hallway, and she hadjust barely enough time to wipe her face in the bedding before Duncan ran intothe bedroom.
“IT’SCHRISTMAS!” he shrieked in a tone that nearly burst her eardrums, jumping ontothe bed. “And there’s snow! Have you seen?”
“Yes,” shechuckled, as if immediately healed by his child-like excitement. “You wannahelp me make the food?”
“I would…”He sat up and wrinkled his nose with an undecisive pout. “But I’d also like togo outside… I mean, there’s so much SNOW!”
“Right, youusually wouldn’t see this much, would you? Okay, then, why don’t you getdressed warm and run down to Miss Alice and get some razorgrain and fruit?Actually, take whatever she’ll give you, your dad will probably figure out ause for it.”
She waitedfor Duncan to say, “Oh, okay, I guess” and leave to get dressed before sheburst out laughing at her own unintended sexual innuendo. Fuck, four days isapparently way too long.
Just anhour and half later, they were both in the kitchen, preparing dough for thecake she had promised Duncan probably a couple of weeks ago. Brahmin wasalready marinating, carrots and silt beans cooking; she even prepped the cornwhen she got bored as the dough was rising. Now she was trying her best to makesomething resembling chocolate icing with the odd-tasting brahmin milk, sweetrolls, sugar bombs, and a pinch of coffee. It wasn’t going so well.
“Duncan! Can you please not?” Sole shouted, gently pushing the boy’s hand away from thedough. “Come on, would you rather eat raw dough or a chocolate cake?”
Duncan wasthinking for the longest time before he finally said, reluctantly, “Cake…”,even though he was still eyeing the dough longingly. Sole sighed. “When isDaddy going to be back?” he asked then, and the way he said ‘Daddy’, like hestill couldn’t believe the word even as it left his mouth, tore Sole’s heartout of her chest. Well, shit. She didn’t need it anyway.
“Soon, Ihope,” she said as normally as she could, but she couldn’t help to glance atthe time. RJ had left their house at Sunshine Tidings a few days ago to go finda gift for Duncan. He’d said he would come back in time for Christmas dinner, hell, that he’d even help her make it, but it was already past noon and hestill hadn’t come home. Fuck knows where he went in the first place. He mightbe dead in a ditch somewhere, chewed on by molerats, or… worse—torn to shredsby ferals. She found herself wondering what she’d do if she had to tell Duncanthat, and then take care of him alone. Would she even be able to?
Don’t thinkabout it, she told herself. It would be okay. She sent Strong to go with RJ,and these two were pretty much unkillable together. RJ probably miscalculatedthe time it would take them to get to Goodneighbor and back with Strong slowinghim down a little.
“Why don’tyou go play with Dogmeat outside?” she asked Duncan, seeing the internal battleover the dough play out clearly on his face. “Just dress warmly and becareful.”
“Okay,” hebeamed up at the idea, got ready in the matter of seconds, and shouted “Comeon, Doggy!” as he rushed out the door. Dogmeat slid off of his couch, stretchedcarefully, and followed him out, his muzzle drooping like he wanted to say,“gosh, I’m getting too old for this,” even though he was barely four.
But soonSole could see the dog rolling in the snow so zealously he rolled off a hilland stopped only at the water pump, hitting it with a yelp. Duncan ran to checkup on him, but Dogmeat got up without trouble and immediately knocked the kidoff his feet and into another heap of snow. Sole chuckled to herself before shewent back to her fight with the icing.
It wasn’tlong before Duncan rushed back inside, red-cheeked and shivering, but stillwith a huge grin on his face. Dogmeat soon followed, covered in snow so snuglyone couldn’t even tell he was a German Shepherd anymore. He stood in the middleof the living room and tensed up.
“Oh, no,no, NO!” Sole managed to shout out as she ran to kick him out to the porch, butshe was too late. Dogmeat shook it all off on the beautiful rug she’d restoredwith such effort. Goddammit. “If youthink you’re getting back on the couch, young dog, you are very mistaken,” shesaid strictly. “You stay here in the mess that you made.”
Dogmeatwhined with his uncanny understanding and indeed sat his tail down on the wetrug. That probably wasn’t the best course of action, Sole thought, but she couldn’tback out of it now. She put some wood in the fireplace before going back to thekitchen.
“And you,Duncan, go change and please hangthese wet clothes near the fire, but not inthe fire, okay?”
Duncannodded and ran off. She still wasn’t over how much energy that kid had. But,she supposed, it was normal for children. She’d just never had a chance towitness it before. Her eyes teared up again, and she told herself it was fromthe heat of the cooking.
Duncan sooncame back, got himself busy with some toys, but then eventually ended up on therug with Dogmeat anyway. Sole watched them amused as Dogmeat rolled onto hisback to get some belly rubs, and Duncan, scratching him with one hand, drovethe toy car on his chest with the other. And when the toy inevitably fell offthe steep slope of a dog’s ribcage, Duncan reached over him for it and Dogmeatshamelessly licked him in the face. Duncan, caught by surprise, jumped backwith a surprised shriek before he laughed. Sole smiled. There was probably nothingmore joyful than a small child’s laugh.
“Aww, Ithink he likes you,” she said and Duncan giggled even more. Dogmeat pushed hishead under Duncan’s hand and the two were promptly playing together again.
Only a fewminutes had passed before the door opened again with another wave of cold airblowing into the house. Sole turned away from the stove just as Duncan yelled:“Hi, Daddy!” and ran to get a hug.
“Hi,buddy,” RJ said, putting his arm around him, and then promptly giving Sole anapologetic look. “I’m sorry it took so long, we—”
“Oh, shutup,” Sole cut him off and ran over, rising up to her toes to finally kiss him.His lips and cheeks were awfully cold, but she didn’t care. “It doesn’tmatter,” she said as she pulled away, sliding her hands down his chest. “Aslong as you’re okay, it doesn’t matter.”
“Yeah, I’mfine. The snow surprised us a little. Some places, it was up to my waist and wehad to improvise. Have you ever had Strong give you a piggyback ride?”
“Wha—”
“Look,Daddy!” Duncan spoke up, having long gone back to playing with Dogmeat on therug. He was now climbing over Dogmeat’s back while the dog not only suffered itpatiently, but even seemed to enjoy it. And just as RJ moved to get him to stopin fears that he’d get hurt, Duncan continued delightedly: “And Mama said Doggylikes me!”
Thatstopped RJ dead in his tracks. Sole, too. Duncan had never called her thatbefore. RJ turned to her slowly with an odd expression. She didn’t know what tomake of it. Was he angry? Did he think she made Duncan say it? She shivered. Orwas he just in shock that after barely a month, his little boy was already…? Hewent over to the kitchen table, stiffly, sat down… and just started crying.Sole froze. Duncan didn’t notice there was anything wrong, thankfully, so whenshe could move again, Sole grabbed him by the arm and pulled him to thebedroom, saying, “Let’s go get you changed out of those, you’re freezing.”
It wasn’tthat she wasn’t shaken, especially with how Duncan just threw it in there, intoa normal sentence, like it was the most regular thing in the world. And thetruth was, he had never called her anything before, really. Somehow, thatfive-year-old kid managed to navigate every conversation in a way that allowedhim to avoid calling her anything else than ‘you’. So this did feel like a.50-caliber bullet to the chest.
But RJ wasin such state that all of that now faded away. He slumped to the edge of thebed like he got deflated, and immediately hid his face in his hands. Solekneeled on the floor next to him and could see tears glistening between his fingers. She rubbed his knee, but couldn’tfind any words to say. Only after a long while filled only with RJ’s stifledsobs and the quiet sounds of Duncan’s play coming from the other room did Solemanage to let out a sad sigh and whisper, “RJ…”
“I’m sosorry…!” he whimpered, barely keeping his voice down as he collapsed entirelyso that Sole had to embrace him and prop him up on her shoulder, or he would’vefallen off the bed.
“No, no…”she said, but he didn’t seem to be listening anymore. He just went on.
“Oh, God… Ijust never expected him to…” He held on to her for dear life, and thedesperation and pain behind his cries made her tear up, too. There was somethingsqueezing her throat already. “It’s been years… Years… And I stopped believingI’d ever hear him use that word again… And the first time I do, I think, ‘no,it’s not her’. Oh, God, Sole, I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t be,RJ,” she could barely hold her own tears back. Something about the way he criedresonated deep within her and she couldn’t help herself. “I’m not trying tofill Lucy’s shoes. I don’t expect you to forget about her, I know you stilllove her.”
RJ wassilent for a longer while, clearly trying to regain his composure, before hefinally pulled away and looked her in the eye. He seemed calm, but his eyesbetrayed the freshly opened wounds he suffered from. “I do. But I love you, too. And I didn’t like feeling like that—angry, at my little boy. It wasn’t hisfault. He probably doesn’t remember Lucy at all…” His voice broke again, andSole had to blink away her tears. “It’s not his fault. It just… hurt, you know?Like she was being erased and… I didn’t know what to do. I’m sorry, Sole.”
“You don’thave to apologize, babe. I get it.”
Hesniffled. “…I know. You always do, don’t you?” He kissed her forehead, his handon the back of her neck as he pressed his lips against her skin. He then puthis cheeks to hers and stayed like that for a while. “I still remember it, likeit was just last week. Lucy was playing with him, holding him on his lap, andwe talked about something… the crops, I think? And suddenly, that little boyraised a toy in his hand and just said, ‘Mama!’… It was the first word he eversaid.”
Sole feltwhat was left of her tormented heart drop to the bottom of her stomach. “I’msorry,” she said. RJ looked at her in surprise, so she explained, “I feel likeI took that away from you.”
“No.” Hisvoice was suddenly adamant, as if seeing her crying, in pain, made him switchinto protector mode again. “No, you gave my son a home. If he’s able to acceptyou as his mother…”—even as he said that, his voice trembled, “I should behappy. It’s not your fault, and definitely not his, that I can’t handle moving on.”
“You’redoing just fine,” she reassured him with a smile. “As long as we love eachother, we’ll figure everything else out.” He nodded, but she could clearly seeshe made him emotional again. She wiped her face, completely covered in tearsshe didn’t even feel. “Wow,” she mumbled, “we are a pair of tragic messes.” RJlaughed softly, but only held on to her hand as she stood up. “Come on,sweetie. You promised to cook.”
And thatfinally tore a real, honest chuckle from his throat; Sole beamed up alongsidehim. They went back to the kitchen, hand in hand, but before she managed to puthim at the pots, RJ hurried to the duffel bag he had left near the door.
“Hey,Duncan,” he said, “do you wanna see your present?”
The boyjumped up from the rug, letting out something that only vaguely resembled avery loud ‘YES!’. He rushed to the table just as RJ was putting the duffel bagthere and asked, “Is that why you were gone for so long?”
“Yeah, buddy. Had to go get the best for you.” And with that, RJ reached into the bagand pulled out… a BB gun. Sole blinked in surprise. She didn’t expect him to dothat sort of thing, not after all those times when he said he didn’t wantDuncan to have the same life he did, full of violence and blood. But thenagain, was there really any other life to be made in the Commonwealth?
“I know, Iknow,” he said, seeing Sole’s surprised gaze. “But he needs to learn to protecthimself, and the earlier, the better, right? Besides, I mean, it’s just a BBgun, it’s not like he’s going to turn into me…”
Duncan, after doing a round around he house holding the small rifle like a commando, ran back and stood at the table, looking somewhat distraught. Sole took amoment to admire the worksmaship of the weapon. Even if it was just a glorified toy, the barrel was sleek black and the buttpolished to a shine, and there was something special in the way it was built. It must’ve been a unique. And she had no doubts RJ cleaned and oiled it atleast three times on his way back.
“Isanything wrong, love?” she asked noticing Duncan didn’t really know how tostart.
“No, Imean, I really like it, but…” He sucked his lips in, then pouted again. “I wanta scope, too.”
RJ glaredat him, like he wanted to say, ‘NO, YOU DON’T’, but before he could, Sole cautiouslyasked, “Why?”
“’Cause Iwanna be just like Daddy when he shoots.”
Solestifled a laugh, which was an especially difficult task, given RJ’s surprised, almost betrayed face in front of her. “Sure, Duncan,” she said. “We’ll figuresomething out tomorrow, how about that? And for now, just go and play with it,learn how it feels. Okay?” And as Duncan shuffled away, she looked back at RJ.“I think you may have miscalculated a bit, love.”
“Thatlittle…” He shook his head. “You do know it makes no sense, though.”
“Of course, but what harm could it be? I’ll make him a detachable short scope. Let him havefun with it, even if the gun’s range isn’t nearly enough.”
RJ sighedand only then stopped making faces in disbelief. He threw her another odd look, but this time it was one of the good kind. “I have something for you, too, actually,” he said, but before Sole could protest, he added, “it’s not much, don’t freak out. Just a memento, I suppose.” And then he took out a necklacefashioned out of an old silver chain and a rifle round, and placed it in herhand.
“What’sthis?” she asked, feeling like an idiot. RJ said it was a memento, so sheprobably should recognize it from somewhere, but she just couldn’t place it.But he didn’t seem to mind.
“It’s thefirst round I shot after taking up with you. We encountered some raiders on theway to Diamond City? You were taking cover in front of me, and just as I wastaking aim, you stood up with those brass balls of yours and just went at ‘em.Distracted me so much I completely missed. I picked it up afterwards—at first,I was supposed to use it again, but then it just sort of traveled with me andnever found a way into my rifle. So…”
“It’sperfect,” she said, “I love it. Can you…?”
Evenfastening the necklace on her, RJ couldn’t help but make excuses. “I know it’snot much, but…”
“Hey.” Sheturned around and put her arms around his neck again. “It doesn’t matter, love. You already gave me the best Christmas gift I could ever dream of: a family.”
Piper
Solepromptly put it out of her mind—there was a lot to do. She woke Piper with akiss, the kind that made her murmur and stretch, and then put her arms aroundSole’s shoulders and pull her in for continuance. Her house in Diamond Citywasn’t big, but with Sole only dropping by from time to time when she managedto steal away from her other duties, it was more than enough. And even thoughit was insanely early for both of them, they already heard Nat bustling arounddownstairs.
“Wow,” Solesaid. “She got excited for Christmas.”
“Nat?Never,” Piper replied, getting out bed and rushing down the stairs, still onlyin her shirt and shorts. Sole took a moment to appreciate her legs and the waythe oufit showed off certain parts of her, before finally getting dressedherself and following her.
“MerryChristmas!” Nat, wearing an apron, shouted at their sight way more joyfullythan Sole had ever heard her speak. She didn’t even put down the ladle when shehugged them both warmly, and then went back to cooking. Piper looked like she’dbeen hit by lightning.
“What isgoing on?” she whispered to Sole as they went back upstairs to get dressed.“Did the Institute take her.”
“Stop it,”Sole laughed. “It’s just the holiday cheer.”
“No,seriously, Blue… I’ve never seen her act like this.”
“Trust me,she’s just possessed by Christmas spirit.” Piper didn’t seem entirelyconvicted, but Sole couldn’t really offer her anything else. She still hadn’ttold her she’d decided to take over the Institute in order to make it betterfor the people of the Commonwealth. She had no idea how Piper would react. Soeven though she knew firsthand Nat was not swapped and that, in fact, no onewould get swapped for a synth ever again, she wasn’t going to tell her that onChristmas morning. “Look, if she still acts like this after the holidays, then you’ll have a reason to be worried. For now, just enjoy it. Come on, she’s cooking for us.”
“Yeah, that’s what worries me the most,” Piper mumbled. “But okay. I’ll put aside mymistrustful journalist nature aside… just for today.”
“Goodgirl,” Sole teased and kissed her again. “Now, come on, I wanna give you yourgift.”
“No!” Piperjumped in immediately. “Me first!” After which, she darted back downstairs withSole close at her heels.
“Really, you should probably see what I got f—” She didn’t finish as Piper pushed a boxup to her face like a little excited girl. It was flat, but quite big, with abig blue bow around it. “Okay…” Sole said as her brow raised, and Piperimmediately got all flustered and adorable.
“O-Okay,maybe I got a little bit too… But I just… Oh, just open it.”
So Sole didand inside she found a… a scrapbook? Well, it was definitely hand-made, withpages glued to the leather-bound cover with wonderglue, probably, and even thecover seemed to be taken from some other book. But it didn’t matter, becausewhen Sole opened it, she found pages and pages and pages of photos of her and Piper, and even some of the others, all from the time they spent traveling together. There was her conversationwith Nick, and here how she went to the mayor’s office, and on the next pagewere even photos of her breaking into Kellogg’s old house… But somehow, ‘thisreporter’ managed to keep herself from captioning every single one, insteadsettling for just a few sarcastic remarks here and there, like the one thatsaid “Justice served hot” at the photo of her going at some raiders with aflamer. Sole felt like she was about to burst out laughing, but instead shejust stood there in awe.
“You… Youwere taking photos the entire time?” she stuttered out, then raised her gaze tolook at Piper’s flustered face.
“Yeah, Imean… Didn’t you ever notice?”
“I… I don’tknow, I guess I didn’t. I mean, I saw you photographing everything else, justnot… me.” She went back to flipping through the pages. Here was their time atCovenant… There, their trip to Vault 81… And at the very end, on the last page, was only one photo—the one they’d made together at the beginning of theirrelationship, here in Diamond City, laying in Piper’s bed as Sole kissed hercheek and Piper couldn’t help but blush and laugh. And the caption said only, “HowI knew”. Sole felt tears pricking at her eyelids.
“Thank you,Red,” she managed to push through her tightened throat.
“You’rewelcome, Blue.” Piper looked like she was about to burst into tears herself, but held herself bravely as she pulled Sole in for a hug. They just couldn’tstay away from each other, could they?, Sole thought, burying her face inPiper’s hair.
“Hey, youtwo lovebirds, how about some help here?” Nat suddenly shouted from the otherside of the room. “Do I have to do everything alone?!”
Piperpulled away from Sole, sniffled; wiped away a tear hanging from Sole’seyelashes; and then she chuckled and said, “Gotta love family, huh?”
Preston
By the timeshe managed to gather strength to get out of bed, the entire town was buzzingwith people gathering up near the tree at the round square. She got dressed andfollowed suit, only to see Preston helping the settlers up several ladders tohang decorations from the branches. She kinda liked him in a position ofleadership. There was just something… something else to the way he distributed tasks among everyone, keeping thembusy, until the entire town worked together to make the most of this Christmas. It honestly warmed Sole’s heart as she walked towards them and people greetedher with happy voices and ‘Merry Christmas’es and ‘good to see you’s.
“Hello,General,” Preston said a bit sheepishly as she approached, even though his facewas sporting a wide grin.
“Hello, myFirst Officer,” she replied cheekily. She could swear he blushed a little, butthankfully, with him, only she was able to tell. “You’re having fun,” she addedas she motioned to the people around.
“It’s reassuringto see people come together and forget about their troubles on a day like this.”He smiled softly. He was talking about the settlers, but he looked only at her. Then he turned his face to the sun as his gaze drifted away and he said,“Everyone’s so cheerful and carefree.”
“What aboutyou?” Sole put her hand on his cheek to turn his face back to her. She didn’teven notice when they’d moved closer to each other, to the point where it mightstart being really uncomfortable to everyone around. She didn’t really care.“How is it today?”
“Could bebetter,” he said, and she knew he meant it was awful. “I mean, last year…”
“I know,”she stopped him before he could fall into that abyss again. “I know.”
Prestonkissed her forehead, drawing comfort for having her close. Or at least that’swhat she thought, given that it was exactly what she was doing.
“I’m justglad we found each other,” he said.
“Me, too.”
They stayedlike that for another minute, linked in that intimate embrace, as everyonebustled around them, shouting and laughing. The sun falling on the decorationscovered the ground around them in colorful flashes.
“Come on,”Preston said eventually, pulling away from her, though with clear effort. “Iwant to give you your present.”
“Shouldn’tyou keep watch on your lemmings?”
He blinkedat her. “What’s a ‘lemming’?”
Solepaused, staring into the distance. “Nevermind,” she replied eventually. “Oldworld stuff. Lead on, then. Where did you hide it?”
“Like I’mgoing to tell you,” he smiled at her. “Where would I hide your future presentsthen? Just wait here.” He left her at the porch of their house as hedisappeared behind the one across the street, but then he was gone for so longshe couldn’t tell where he went anymore. Bastard.
And then henearly gave her a heart attack when he came up from behind her saying, “Well, what are you waiting for?” As soon as she was done shrieking, she slapped hisarm as he laughed. Oh, it was so nice to see that poor man laughing. “Come intothe house, love. It’s there on the counter.”
And whenSole looked, she saw a fully modified laser musket laid out in the kitchen, obviously custom made, repainted in blue and white, and with the Minutemen logolovingly engraved on the side. She picked it up gently and turned it in herhands, marveling at the handiwork.
“You saidyou didn’t like the muskets for how long it took to wind them up, so I figuredout how to make it automatic,” Preston said, coming up and embracing her frombehind. “Do you like it?”
“Huh.” Sheput it to her shoulder and let go a quick series of lasers through the openside door at the wreck of her old car that was still standing on the drivewayeven though she was supposed to break it down to pieces probably like twomonths ago. But, well, it turned to ash in a matter of seconds now, so… problemsolved? She threw Preston a glance over her shoulder just to see his perplexedface. Oops. Seems he didn’t expect her to just start shooting it right away. “Ilove it,” she said cheerfully, and bent herself awkwardly to pull him in for akiss. Preston shook his head leniently, but gave in to her and they spent thenext few minutes passionately making out in the middle of the living room asSole only tried not to drop her new gift on the floor.
“Now,”Preston said when they finally ran out of breath and had to pull away, “time toget back to our family, huh?”

Never Grow Up (Episode 35)
"I have sand in places that I didn't even know I had places" I laugh with Angus in the shower.
"You loved it baby" He says as he squirts cucumber scented body wash onto a loofa and massages it into my skin, Im covered in bubbly suds and sand.
"It was pretty romantic" I tell him, flashbacks of the night before playing back in my mind, his soft touches on skin, how he took his time and it was slow and tender under the moonlight.
"I liked it too, another first for us both" He informs me and I'm surprised
"You've never done it outside before?" I ask him
"Nope, I was an outdoor virgin until last night" He laughs.
I grab the loofa from him, squirt the body wash onto it and start running it over his skin, I love exploring his naked body with my hands, the grooves of his torso, the muscles in his thighs, the way he flexes when he raises his arms and places them on his head, allowing me to wash his sides, he smiles that cheeky smile at me because he knows I'm purposely taking my time, checking him out.
"Do you remember the first time we showered together?" I ask him, thinking back to how shy I was.
"Yeah, I was so nervous to touch you Zoey, I was afraid I'd scare you off" He says, smiling at me, "You were just so precious, you still are but now I've touched you all over"
"And you will be the only one who ever touches me like that, just you Angus" I promise him and he pulls me in for a hug.
The bathroom door swings open and Tess comes charging in.
"I have been looking for you everywhere, Cass and I were at the tourist beach just now and we saw the hottest code 15" She announces to me, not even flinching when she sees I'm in the shower with Angus, "Hey Angus, oh, the tattoo is a fish? Awesome" She greets him before leaving as quickly as she came in.
"Does she often walk in on you while you're showering?" He asks me, completely floored by what just happened
"Yes, I'm used to it, I just didn't think she would while you're in here, I'm so sorry, I should of locked the door" I apologise and he bursts out laughing.
"She really has no filter" He laughs, "What's a code 15 anyway?"
"When we were in year 7 we would check out the year 12 boys, I'm guessing because we saw them as being the hottest males we'd been exposed to at that point, it's silly and childish really but we came up with this code, if you can stare at him for 15 seconds then he is unbelievably hot, we just kept it going throughout school, it was our secret code" I explain, embarrassed about how stupid it sounds out loud and I feel like a silly school girl
"I was in year 12 when you were in year 7" He smiles at me knowing he was most likely one of the boys we were checking out.
Angus organised for us all to go snorkelling in the ocean near the house. We take a boat out to the middle of the ocean and jump into the warm water, put on our masks and snorkels and explore. I see schools of beautifully coloured fish, a pod of dolphins and even a family of turtles. Tess swims up next to me and points, we see jelly fish bobbing along and three seahorses. I come back up to the surface and put my mask and snorkel back in the boat and swim around with Cassie
"Did you see the turtles?" I ask her excited
"Oh yeah and those dolphins, they were awesome" She squeals.
One by one the others come up to the surface with stories of the sea life they found under the water.
"I saw a mermaid" Tess tells us and we all laugh
"Pretty sure that was just a giant fish" Declan says and she splashes water at him and swims away.
Angus swims up next to me and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me in close for a kiss.
"Did you have fun Princess?"He asks me
"I love being out here, the ocean is unbelievable , we have nothing like this in Brindleton Bay. Thank you baby" I tell him
"You're welcome" He replies, "We should head back in though, I saw a shark swimming around and I want to get lunch, not be lunch" He laughs. I've never moved so fast in my life.
We all walked to The Sandbar for lunch and early afternoon drinks.
"Cocktails ladies?" Steph suggests and we all cheer in agreement. The Sandbar's cocktail of the day is the Blue Lagoon and the mixologist is making them strong, I drink half of mine and feel tipsy.
"Come dance" Cassie says, taking my hand and we head out onto the small, empty dance floor and sway to the music from the juke box.
"Tess walked in on Angus and I in the shower this morning" I tell Cassie and she looks at me shocked
"What did Angus say? Was he mad?" She asks
"No, he laughed, he also questioned me about what a code 15 was too" I reply
"I was surprised when she pointed him out on the beach, she hasn't said it since before Declan" Cassie notes
"I think she and Declan may be over, she says she's matured past him" I inform her.
"I've seen this coming for a while now, she took the lead role as school captain and had to carry him the whole year and it was a lot of stress for her, he just kept taking the credit for her hard work" Cassie says and I feel bad that I didn't notice this was going on.
"She didn't tell me any of this" I tell Cassie, shocked
"You were in a bad place Zo, she didn't want to lean on you, she said you had enough going on without taking on her relationship dramas too" Cassie explains. Tess has always leaned on me when times got hard, it's what we do with each other and I feel terrible that she felt she couldn't. We go back to table to finish our drinks and lunch, the boys are in deep conversation talking about how The Llama's were cheated out of winning their grand final this year.
"They were in the final?" I ask Angus
"Ah yeah baby, what rock were you living under back in September?" He laughs
"The one where sports are boring and unimportant" I tell him, poking him in the ribs.
"I had a lot of time on my hands for boring, unimportant things back then" He says, poking me back, "I could take you out for dinner tonight and give you a play by play" He suggests
"As thrilling as that sounds I think I need alone time with Tess tonight, she's kinda going through something with Declan" I tell him and he smiles at me
"I'll book you two a table, can you also talk to her about privacy too" He laughs
"why didn't you tell me exactly how bad things were with Declan?' I ask Tess over dinner, taking her hand in mine
"I didn't want to put more on your plate Zoey, you were dealing with your own boy problems, I didn't want to add mine and weigh you down" She says sadly
"Teresa you can always come to me about anything, no matter what. I hate that you felt that you couldn't" I tell her and her eyes start to well up
"Zoey I just can't do it anymore, he's just not going to change and grow up and I can't keep carrying him. I worked my ass off this year as school captain and he got all the glory from Landgaarb because they would talk about sports in every meeting and shovel me with the work load." She breakdown crying
"Oh Tess, I wish you had told me" I say, squeezing her hand
"I'm going to break up with him, I know it will be hard and I'll wait until we get back home to do it so I don't ruin the holiday for him or anyone else" She confesses
"Just be aware that he is still friends with our group so you may still have to see him and that may be awkward but Cass and I will always be there" I promise her and she smiles
"I know, I'm lucky to have you Zo" She praises me
"I'm lucky to have you too Tess" I smile brightly at her, "I just have to ask you to not come into the bathroom ever again when I'm in there with Angus"
"In my defence I didn't realise he was in there with you and I promise I didn't see anything" She laughs
"You saw enough" I shout, throwing my napkin at her and we both burst out laughing

REGARDLESS
Prompt: Photographer!Jean and werewolf!Marco are young adults. Jean is and Marco joins him
Rating: T
Word Count: 2675
Excerpt:
I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up – the inside is just as shitty as the outside and as Marco sweeps his flashlight over the interior, my nose scrunches.
It smells musty and old as balls, like something curled up, died, and then disintegrated to a stain on the hardwood floor. The ground groans as we step and I swear I can hear field mice scurry under our feet beneath the boards. The wallpaper is old and peeling, but the design on them is intricate, delicate even. Like it must have cost a fortune when it first got put up.
Karanes is cold this time of year – the rush of the wind is harsher, bitter – and I wrap my arms around myself as we exit the car, brandishing my Letterman jacket against the evening wind. Marco, the fucking furnace, seems completely unfazed by the gusts but neither one of us can stop the fall of our expressions when we come upon the house.
I'm sure it must have been beautiful. You know; thirty years ago.
A pitched gray roof hangs over a shingled off-white exterior, and the shutters hang desperately off the edges of boarded up windows. The dormers of the second floor are the only ones still in tact, but the glass is cracked, splintered and spider-webbed like someone threw rocks at it from below. Ivy climbs up the outside walls, trying to drag the house back into the forest beyond its borders, and even with the moon out, bathing everything in a calm light, the house is gloomy, like it permeates darkness.
A black and red sign loudly proclaiming “No Trespassing” is nailed to the front door just below the brass knocker, and Marco gives me a dubious look before slipping his access key into the lock. The deadbolt creaks as it slips out of its slot, agonizing in the way the metal scraps against the wood, and with a mighty heave Marco shoves the door open.
“Remnants of a bygone era,” I snort, and Marco hums in agreement, shutting the door behind us and bathing us in the dark.
Survey can't afford to keep these safe houses “safe”, I guess. It makes me realize just how fucked we really are, how desperate Survey is to get funding again. They can keep these safe houses, but they sure as hell can't maintain them.
To be fair, there's nothing that says we have to stay in a safe house – Marco and I both know basic symbols we can place on the doors and windows of any motel we stay in – but that's just the problem. They're basic, and lucky for me none of the things after my ass are basic ghosts or monsters.
There's something heavy about the air in here and even with my phone flashlight and Marco's torch, the inky black of the house feels oppressive. Graffiti is sprayed all over the walls, no doubt from kids from town who wandered out here for the thrill of defacing an empty house, and as we move into the pitch black living room, I'm surprised we find any furniture at all.
Marco brightens, just a little, and wanders over to what I assume was once a couch. It's huge and curved, and the upholstery is red with what look like faded gold embellishments, though that could be just the dust settled on it fiddling with the light of my phone.
The musty stench is unbearable in here, and I rub at my nose with my sleeve. I can't imagine how hard it must be for Marco and his crazy werewolf senses – I feel like I'm about to gag.
“Isn't this nice, Jean?” Marco says over his shoulder at me. His voice is strained, but he's giving me a smile so sweet it pulls at my heart and I shove my free hand into my pocket in defiance. “Now we don't have to sleep on the floor.”
Damn him for trying to make the best out of a shitty situation. Damn him and his smile and the way his broad chest looks in that flannel. Damn him and his stupid hair and his stupid dimples and the stupid things it does to my heart.
Still, I meet him at the edge of the light and bump him with my shoulder.
“Looks ancient,” I grouse, dropping the duffle bag at our feet. Marco smiles at me and shrugs – a small, helpless gesture – and I kneel down to pull my camera out.
It was a gift from Dad for my last birthday, arriving the day before Marco trampled into my life brandishing a flamethrower, but I'm no stranger to photography. The first camera I got was when I was eleven and Dad was so happy, so relieved I had found something to occupy my time, a hobby. He and Mom don't know why I wanted one, and they don't need to. They don't need to know I don't think I'll live long enough to leave a legacy behind.
That there won't be any evidence of my existence outside of these pictures and broken memories.
I can feel Marco's eyes on me, the way he's acutely becoming aware of how solemn I get when I take pictures of our surroundings, but so far he hasn't brought it up so I don't either. I just take the strap of my camera, mindful of the lens, and drape it over my neck, letting the metal and plastic rest over my heart like a medal.
The eeriness of the house is nothing new to me, but there's a charm to this skeleton that makes my fingers twitch. I need to have evidence of it existing, at least so someone out there knows there's still some beauty in these tattered old walls.
The spark of creativity is familiar, but the feeling never gets old. The strap is nestled around my neck, a sure grasp that binds me to my passion, but that connection breaks just as I'm reaching for it.
The way Marco's head swivels towards me is alarming, and I can see the way his nostrils flair, his dark eyes darting to the windows and corners of the room. There's something here.
Most safe houses have a enchantment etched on the door, keeping the interior of the house secured, but god knows the wear and tear must have scratched away at whatever old spells used to linger in the air.
A cold feeling coils up my leg around my jeans, something thin like paper but sharp as knives, and it chills my senses and renders me motionless. Though, maybe it just feels that way because I'm not as quick as Marco.
I can't keep up, my ears catching the bang of Marco's Smith and Wesson as he fires at the creature working its way up my body. My freedom is granted and I pivot, but my relief is short-lived. The shadow recoils with an angry hiss and it's like it descends on us from the perimeter of Marco's light, growing larger and looming its darkness over us.
I've been in enough danger to know when something is after me, and that ever familiar coldness pricks at the back of my neck.
I don't have a lot of time to linger on my fear though as the monster lunges towards Marco and the small beam of light beckoning it closer. On instinct I leap to Marco, but I'm a split second too late. His gun is steady in his right hand, but the other is weak and limp in comparison, and the flashlight flies through the air, clattering onto the floor and lighting up each corner of the room as it spins on the hardwood.
Marco isn't phased. His gun barrel gleams in the strobing light, aimed towards the shadow as it lunges at him.
My mind is racing, trying to sift through my knowledge of myths and legends and ghosts at rapid speed to make sure we don't get fucking butchered by something we can't fucking see.
And that's when it clicks.
“Marco,” I shout, “The flashlight!”
His eyes fly to it, (amber irises, I note with a clench to my heart), but he leaps away from the jab just in time, rolling closer to the light and flicking it off with a sharp snap.
Silence follows – a heavy, thick silence – and I swallow as my sight ineffectively tries to adjust to the unnatural gloom.
“Marco,” I call, cautiously stepping even though I know it won't do us any good, “You okay?”
“Yeah,” a voice says, distantly to my right, “Clue me in on what we're fighting here.”
“A wraith.” I chew the inside of my lip, pulling at the skin. “I think.”
I hear Marco slowly take a breath. “Okay,” he murmurs, but I can hear the calculation in his measured words, “Intelligence?”
“Not much,” I reply, shifting the knife from one hand to the other nervously, “But it only fights in the light. Uses the shadows to move and attack.”
I wait. Another breath. My chest tightens.
“Okay,” Marco says again, “And I'm guessing we can only kill it in the light, right?”
I nod, but then realize how stupid that is. “Yeah.”
Something thumps at my side, hand wrapping around my bicep, but my gasp dies when I feel Marco's warm fingers squeeze my arm reassuringly.
“So, what's the plan?” he whispers.
I've stopped questioning how he can find me in the most unlikely circumstances – he could probably smell me a mile away, or maybe he just hears the pounding of my heart in how deathly quiet it is. God knows I do. I can barely see the outline of his face in this oppressive darkness, but I try to force my gaze to where I think his eyes are and level with him.
“Well,” I begin, swallowing, “We both have lights, right?” I poke my camera against where I think his arm is and when I'm met with his squishy chest I can't stop my smirk. “Let's light 'im up.”
I know he disapproves but he's also impressed, and I can hear it in his chuckle. His laughter caresses my cheeks before he slips away to the other side of the room, giving my bicep one more squeeze before he leaves my side. I try no to linger on the loss of his warmth, try not to think about the heat that is burning up my neck, and square my shoulders.
One hand tight around my knife. The other on the camera, finger on the shutter. Feet apart. Knees bent.
Breathe.
“Now!” I shout.
The room is illuminated – my camera flash and Marco's light are blinding – and the first thing my vision catches is the whisper of a black cloak, disappearing to my right.
Marco jumps and dives, shooting into the dark and brandishing his torch like a weapon, swinging and firing it in the direction he thinks the wraith is heading.
My camera is unsteady and cumbersome – I can barely get the shutter off in time with how heavy it is in my non-dominant hand and I'm bobbing and weaving more than fighting. I'm not as fast as Marco and it shows; I may have been running my whole life, but that sure as hell doesn't mean I can outmaneuver something I can't see.
Thankfully, Marco's drawn its attention so far but that doesn't put me at ease.
Marco's not the target here.
I manage to get another camera flash off as I take a hard right to the other side of the small room, skidding on the rotting floor, and that's when I hear the whispering. It's like a hiss in my ear; this nasty, sickly voice and it repeats the same thing over and over, clawing at my insides and sticking in my gut.
“Let me have,” It wheezes, “I want, I want, I want.”
It brushes the back of my neck, fingers long and thin and bony, and I whip around too fast. I'm frantic, movements slow and stupid and the camera shutter is loud in my ears as it clicks.
Marco skids in front of me before I can catch up. The wraith's limb – frighteningly quick and sharp as needles – slams him hard in the shoulder.
My voice cracks on his name.
Marco goes flying.
My mind is a blur. My breath is in my chest. Distantly, I hear his body smack against something, hear him thud onto something soft – the couch? I can't see, everything is fucking black – and then silence.
His flashlight cracks against the floor and flickers once before going out.
My mind is blank. I'm bathed again in this darkness, this black that sinks into my gut and sucks out the air of my lungs and I can't stop how my mind flies to Dad, to the empty socket where his eye used to be and the blood gushing down his face and I can almost see it, can see it swirling to focus in the ink and the guilt coils around my throat and I –
And I hear Marco groan through my haze. Hear him curse under his breath and shift against the cushions.
The rush of air in my lungs is dizzying. I would take the time to relish in his safety, but...
I wet my lips quickly and rip the strap off my neck. The floorboards creak as I crouch and I pause, waiting between heartbeats.
There's something that happens when your body goes through so much trauma and stress where you become stupidly lucid, and thankfully I'm one of those lucky sons-of-bitches that it happens to when it counts.
Or maybe it's the practice; I'm well versed in trauma and stress.
Hastily, I shift my weight and aim the camera between my knees, pointed up at an angle.
I snap the shutter and simultaneously thrust my knife in front of me, sinking deep into the shadows. A pair of orange eyes meet mine, shining and empty like the smiles of jack-o-lanterns, and the wraith screams.
I use my position to duck and roll out of the way just as it stabs the empty air, keeping my camera under me. I clamber to my knees as soon as I skid to a stop, knife heavy in my hands as the wraith writhes and hisses and shrieks.
There's a gasp, a sound like air being sucked into a vacuum, then nothing.
The heavy atmosphere lifts and it's like a breeze blows through; cooling my heated, sweating skin and taking the musty smell along with it. It's easier to breathe and though I hate the cliché, the air feels lighter. Comforting.
Moonlight spills through the cracks in the wooden slates that cover the windows and it bathes the living room in a tranquil blue, but my eyes fly to the couch and to the young man sitting on that ugly-ass upholstery.
Marco smiles at me weakly, covered in dust and plaster, and I nearly slip on the ash from the wraith on the ground as I race over to him. My legs are shaking so bad I'm surprised I even make it to him in one piece.
His irises fade from amber to that warm, honey brown I'm notorious for getting lost in, and I breathe out a sigh.
“You okay?” we both say at the same time. Marco laughs quietly – a mirthful, gentle sound – and I can't stop the way my mouth splits into a grin.
“Wanna skip this place and go to a shitty motel instead?” I venture.
Marco rolls his eyes but stands, sending soot into the air as he does so. Marco scrunches his nose, freckles bunching, and he hangs his head.
“Only if you write the charm on the door,” he retorts.
I sling the duffle bag onto my shoulder and punch him lightly in the arm. “Don't I always?”
Marco nudges me back and we walk out into the night, leaving the safe house behind to the ivy and the wind.

Part 1 Chapter 0
Present Time
9/12/2018 07:45 (Paris Time)
Chantilly, Oise, France
Kyle still did not get why he had such an awful fate.
Visitors mostly come to France for travel, dating, marriage and honeymoon, but he had to travel that far just to seek his fiancee. It was awfully cold, a group of terrorists imprisoned him in a medieval chateau. They were ‘interrogating’ him in a dark chamber.
He had been tightly tied to a chair with duct tape, and his severe beating wounds were a glaring evidence of his suffering. In a dim light he could barely see both his torturers stood on his left and his right. In front of him was the leader of that terrorist group - an emerald-eyed blond in black special ops uniform. For a man who was about forty, he looked incredibly handsome and well-built, but Kyle learnt a golden rule from his thrilling adventure: many gorgeous men are cruel, just like this enemy.
‘Seems like you really love Athena.’ He spoke in native American English, implying he had lived in the States for a long time. He smirked a bit coyly and asked him, almost in a whisper, ‘But are you sure she loves you? '
Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and war, is his lover’s codename in Olympus, a secret intelligence organization that he still knew nothing about.
**
A snowstorm was ravaging the forest, but it still could not block the way of a shiny black Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUV. It was running effortlessly through the forest, and its engine was buzzing like the bumblebees.
A young Asian woman in black special ops uniform with dyed blond hair and pale complexion was its master. She had neatly styles her long hair into a ponytail, and she was arguing with a man in American English on her earpiece. ‘Why should I listen to him this time? From the moment he learnt Kyle’s existence he has been wishing him dead, and the longer he is in that bastard’s hands, he’ll be closer to death.’
She pivoted the specially enhanced SUV nicely. Its gigantic wheels conquered the thick snow and thus it sped up.
‘Talk later. Please locate Kyle now.’ As soon as it was closer to the target chateau, she stepped hard on the pedal. Soon it hit its entrance gate…...
**
‘Her teacher has trained her into a cold, ruthless spy like me, and she only uses anyone she can use to accomplish her agenda. Once he is useless she will just dump him.’ The blond-haired man vilified Kyle’s fiancee to continue his mental torture. ‘How can she love a layman? Correction: maybe she has already dumped her heart. A woman like her loves breaking people’s hearts into pieces.’ Then his henchman beat Kyle’s right waist hard.
The SUV roughly broke open the gate and ran over few terrorists. The other terrorists in black military uniform avoided it, and immediately fired rounds of bullets at it with their AK-47 rifles. Creaky noises were heard and sparks could be seen from the clashes between the bullets and the vehicle. However, as it was bulletproof, the driver remained unharmed.
Lucky me. The yard is big enough.
After the monster reached the middle of the courtyard, it just spinned on and on, and formed a little hurricane of snowflakes. While pivoting the vehicle, with another hand she took out an AK-47 rifle and repeatedly fired gunshots from the left. Numerous terrorists were either shot to death or seriously injured. Blood poured out relentlessly from their bodies…..
**
‘Have you ever thought of why she got close to you?’
All these words were used to torture his already weakened nerves - This man wanted to break Kyle. He seemed unconcerned about the noise of gunshots from the ground.
‘I’m not gonna tell you anything, you moron,’ In spite of grave danger, he still managed to keep his strong will. A smirk had appeared across his lips while he was glaring at the sinister enemy.
‘You’ve been too addicted to her. Maybe it’s time for a bath?’ The man just frivolously proposed another torture. His interrogators untied the resistant victim and forcefully shoved him into a pool of ice water.
The whole world was silent.
**
Damn, he’s got some tricks. How the heck can he hide so many weapons here?
As all her bullets were gone, she tried to disentangle herself from the gunfight. She just put away the AK-47 rifle and hurled two grenades at the terrorists guarding a side door to the chateau.
“Boom!”
As they exploded, the terrorists got burnt by the flames.
She proceeded to park the Land Rover in front of the side door, lightly got off the SUV, and gave a terrorist another at his belly. He then fell to the ground in pain.
The chateau looked too dilapidated to be a terrorist base, but after sneaking inside, she found out it had been renovated. She sought the fastest track to reach the basement based on a map sent by her colleague on her Apple Watch. After she took a dark staircase to go downstairs and reached a corridor, she tactfully strangled a terrorist to his death with just bare hands. Before the other two terrorists spotted her, she had already shot them dead with her black Glock 17 handgun. Their chests suffered the precise hit, and blood flowed out like streams.
**
Every inch of Kyle’s skin was chilled, but it made him wide awake. He couldn’t help but recall the sweet moments he shared with Helen since they met.
He felt hopeless - he started to succumb to his lies, though he was unwilling to admit it.
One minute later, he was pulled out of the cold water.
‘If she loved you, then you would never have been in my hands, silly boy.’ A flash of pity crossed the man’s eyes, but soon he grew cold again.
There was rapid gunfire outside. A tall, slender blond-haired woman kicked open the chamber’s door. She nimbly evaded gunshots of the torturers, and seized a golden opportunity to shoot their heads precisely with both her favorite handguns - a platinum CZ SP-01 Phantom and a black Glock 17. Their lives were gone in seconds.
Their boss, however, reacted astonishingly fast. He seized Kyle as his hostage again, choked his neck from the back with his left arm, and pointed his dark blue Walther P99 at his right temple. He sneered at her. ‘I’ve started to love you, Athena. As our teacher’s protege, I can't believe you can love someone.’
‘I never like dating a French man at all, you sick bastard !’ Flames of fury were burning in her lovely honey brown eyes while she aimed her guns at her enemy.

My great uncle Richard gave me a laptop and I thought I would use this as a perfect opportunity to give a little update on life. Enjoy. Or dont. Its all good either way.
So I had originally made this blog to post about TTC, our family, and overall just document memories. I have obviously failed on that front. One, because I have not blogged every single memory we’ve made or else forgotten to. And two, well because I suck lol. I always make a post saying im gonna try more to blog but lets get real, it doesn't happen. I do however get on almost daily and like to read updates from those that I follow. All that said, here it goes.
-I feel like im in a season of life where I am just zoned out. Im feeling very down on myself and feel very worthless. Please dont get me wrong. I love my life, my husband, the kids. I am so much happier how then I was 4 years ago thats for sure. I feel like its something that I have to work on myself because no one else really gets it. Like a void. I cant even explain it myself, I just FEEL it. Its the weirdest thing to be the happiest you have ever been but still feel numb. I have a long history of past trauma which it most likely stems from, I just dont know how to deal with it. Moving on.
-Matt and I have been trying to have a baby for 1 year and 6 months to be exact. I started off the journey documenting literally everything. I had bought a big kit with a bunch of opks and pregnancy tests. The first couple of months it was exciting and thrilling and the through of expanding our family brought me so much joy. Fast forward to now and its just another day im not pregnant. I dont track anything anymore, dont take pregnancy tests, and just rely on ‘if it happens, it happens.’ I hate having such a sour attitude about it and im sure it doesn't help but what can ya do. I know there are women out there who have been trying for much longer and I whole heartily wish them the best of luck but this is just how I feel right now about it. I honestly just need to get back on track on my overall health and get myself and my body healthy to carry a baby.
-Its summer time and we currently have the kids til the end of the month and then get them back again on the 4th. I’d like to spend as much time as we can before school starts back up and I want to think of more things to do outside of the house that does not involve being in this dang Texas heat but also does not cost an arm and a leg. Ilyana will be starting kindergarten this year. She is so smart already it amazes me. Some of the things that come out of mouth have me almost speechless, like I dont know where she learns some of this stuff. Today I sat on the couch with her doing some addition and subtraction books. She got the hang of it real quick and gosh...she really blows me away. She is no longer in flag football and is now doing cheer. Im a little nervous because its not the “rah rah” at the sidelines of football games cheer. She is in a competition cheer and if they place for finals (which they did last season) we may be heading to Florida for nationals. Im curious to see how this will all plan out. Derek will be starting 4th grade and even though i have only been in his life for 4 years, the 4 years have gone by way to fast. I remember the first time I went to back to school night when he was starting 1st grade. He was 6. The most polite little gentleman who had the most beautiful hazel eyes. Now he is 10, almost as tall as me, and acts like he is 16. HAHA! Still the sweetest. I’ve blogged some.. maybe? about Derek's concussion he got at football practice. The decision was made to pull him from the rest of the current season and talk about getting back in the following season. Its still undecided and im sure Abigail(his mom) will make a decision without talking to us about it so as of now its TBD.
-Life with Matt is amazing. Thats really all I have to say about that, lol. Lately I’ve been hearing about some of my sisters and their ongoing problems with their men and it reminds me how lucky I am to have him in my life and not have to worry about some of the things that they are having to worry about. This is not a knock on them either, I love my sisters and wish them all the best. I’ll always be there for them but sometimes you either gotta live with or learn from your mistakes. However, I will say this. Neither of them are married to their guy and while some people think that marriage is just a piece of paper I would have to disagree. Marriage is so much more then that. Its commitment, loyalty and love and they lack that SO much. Matt and I are in no way perfect but we are perfect for each other. We may not see eye to eye on somethings, we argue and bicker but at the end of the night he is still the man I kiss goodnight every night.
