I was tagged by the lovely @hotluncheddie! Hello, I'm sorry for the rambling mess this is going to be. But I know I missed this like two weeks ago, so bear with me.

Okay, I'm going to try and be normal here. I have, honestly, so many worms in my brain. They're dancing and stomping and I'm just going fucking nuts with how much is in my brain at the moment. And also I took excedrin this morning for my migraine and that had caffeine in it and it's more caffeine than I would normally have—anyway.

Y'all already know one of my brain worms, the whole omega verse sensitive nips omega Steve thing. Which, I will plug the post here because I don't have the energy (yes, I do, but I don't want to echo myself) to share all the craziness about that in one post.

I'm also thinking about young Steve Harrington, which is kudos to this post and lots of people's tweets over on the twitter. I won't go into it, same reasons as the omega verse thing so just...again, bear with me.

But! But the actual brain worms I'm having currently, in this very moment, also have to do with another post I made on here. I want to go more in-depth with, though. So, some days ago, I came across an Instagram Reel that was a clip from the YouTube video interview between Jon Bernthal and Dungeon Master Deborah Ann Woll.

So, brief brief summary of this video is basically: Jon Bernthal says that he wants to play D&D, Deborah Ann Woll then gives him a scenario of walking through the woods and while he's walking he hears snap of twigs, and then she basically prompts him with "What do you do?" And he responds, now I can't remember exactly what he says, but I believe it had something to do with investigating the source of the snapped twigs.

Anyway, the video is excellent and you all should check it out. She basically explains D&D in a way that would make sense to anybody, in the matters of asking a player or a potential player what they'd do in certain scenarios, then bringing in the "rougher" elements such as the History checks or Perception checks in the game.

And I want to write something along the lines of Steve approaching Eddie about D&D. Maybe he wants to play because Dustin keeps bugging him about it, but he's too nervous to accept. Maybe he just wants to know what it's like. Maybe he even wants to be a substitute player one of these days just in case somebody can't show up. Something, y'know, where he's approaching Eddie. But he's really, really confused about where to even begin. He's got a character sheet, he's looking at the manuals loaned to him or he even bought himself, he's looking at all these stats and all these options and he just doesn't know where to begin.

Also, brief intervene here, I would be basing this off of 5e rules because that's what I play and frequently toy with. So...don't be mad at me if I get something "inaccurate for the time". I, first of all, honestly don't care. And second, I was not alive in like 1977 when the game first came out. And there's nobody in my life who played it then or possibly has played it ever outside of 5e. Moving on.

So, he tries to explain his character sheet to Eddie, obviously getting a bit overwhelmed in the process. But Eddie stops him. Says something like, "Hold on, okay? Let's just take a baby step here. I'm going to give you a scenario and then I want you to tell me what you'd do."

And he lays out that same, or even just something similar, to what Deborah Ann Woll gave. (I'm going to base this off of the video. Very original, I am.) So it's something like:

"Okay, you've got a small dagger attached to your belt, it's concealed within a hilt. And on your back, there's a bow and a quiver—or a pouch—of arrows. You're walking through the woods. It's dark, heavy clouds hanging overhead, moon obstructed, you can barely see your surroundings. There's leaves under your feet, gravel, sticks. But then, before you can step your foot down next, something crunches in the distance on your left. What do you do?"

There's a pause. A long moment where Steve is considering his options.

"It's a far away sound, right?" Steve checks and Eddie nods. There's a little hmph from Steve as he continues to think. "Can I tell how far away it is? Is there a way to distinct the length of it?"

Eddie maybe smirks, eyes already glowing. "Give a perception check." And at Steve's befuddled expression, leaning in and brows furrowed, Eddie continues on. "So, you're going to roll one of those dice that you always see the kids with. The D20, that's the one you'd use right now. 20 is the highest you can get"—

"The best I can get. And 1 is obviously the lowest, so the worst."

"Right! So...let's say you were to pick up a D20 right now and roll it. You get a...a fourteen. And your perception, one of those skills on the top of your paper"—and Eddie would grab Steve's character sheet, to point out the number he already placed there—"this one right here. And on your paper, it looks to be pretty high. A sixteen is what you have. So...I'm going to ask you to add three more to your dice roll."

Steve squints at the paper. He doesn't take long to do the math, muttering a little under his breath. "Okay...I'd have a seventeen for my perception check." And he looks up to Eddie for confirmation, in which he gets. "And if it's possible out of twenty...that means I can probably figure it out well, right?"

Eddie nods with a smug hum. "You're already a natural." He leans back a little from Steve. Eyes away in thought. Goes on, "So, I'll know right away, based on that number you give me that you're extremely perceptive. I tell you...okay, the sound you hear is roughly ten feet away on your left."

"That's really close," Steve murmurs. "I think I'll...I'll ready that bow on my back. Take it off, grab for one of my arrows. Poise it."

"Mmm...And as soon as you get your bow in the right position, you begin to make out what seems like a pair of eyes. From the darkness between the trees, those eyes emerge closer and closer, revealing the large figure of a sixteen foot owlbear. Its feathers are spread wide, splaying defensively. Eyes glowing, it seems, yellow and bright. The body girth of a bear, but the head and mannerisms of an owl. It trills and squawks in your face. What do you do?"

Anyway, it would go from there. Tried to figure out a monster that wasn't an owlbear because that's what was used in the video. But uh...my brain is not being original right now, so that's basically the whole example from the video. But I just adore that video so much, the simple, yet impactful way she taught the basics. And I think it could translate so well to Eddie and Steve messing with D&D together.

DCRC Week #01

Hello DCRC! I know everyone is technically on week 14 now, so I hope you don't mind a late entry. I may or may not have gained a new hyperfixation lately.

With that said, let's get into the very first issue!

These guys really love their beak-shaped architecture huh. Do you think they find earthlings slightly more superior to Xerbians because at least some of them have beaks? Imagine if we put human mouths on every vehicle and building we created. Actually, don't imagine that, I just tried it and I hate it. Let's never do that ever.

jhkj he thinks he's so cool. Are you going for brooding and mysterious or are you just cold up there? It looks like he's wearing a blankie.

You know, having read a few issues ahead it actually surprises me how little we see of coolflames in the next issues. Sure, they're brought up but 90% of the time when PK is fighting anyone it's always just Evronian warriors. You'd think they'd throw in at least a couple of coolflames to boost their numbers, if nothing else.

They've got some pretty neat powers too. Or is that just whatever species these guys used to be? Are these guys not originally from earth? I thought they'd started coolflaming some Duckburg residents already, but maybe not?

He really just went home with a "huh. That was weird. Oh well." after all that.

So we're just gonna throw a tarp over those and call it a day then? Extreme nonchalance runs in the family apparently.

I love how much they're immediately trusting each other and working together. Uno lets Donald run off with Ducklair's tech even though he's never heard of him until today. He even goes out of his way to make him breakfast! And Donald telling him about his nephews right away. I'm sure Uno could have found out about them on his own if he really wanted to, but the fact that Donald trusts him with his identity right away says a lot.

Also those tiny PK nephews are adorable. Get them their own little outfits STAT. At least for Halloween or something!

And that's our first issue! Really fun setup, we got to meet our main cast of characters, and square Lyla will not haunt me again after this issue so all's well that ends well. It's fun looking back and seeing PK still finding his footing with both his new friend, his new gear and his new enemies, especially when compared to later issues when he's gotten much more used to all three.

Well. Quite a bit to unpack here on an otherwise unassuming Friday!

#2: I actually track this stuff. Admittedly the E-rated percentage is a bit higher if you look at RWRB only, but overall...

#3: I think anyone who subscribes to me on AO3, or indeed anyone who follows the kiwiana-writes tag here on tumblr and sees all those fucking WIPs, knows that I like to write a bit of variety. That's not to say there aren't definite underpinnings of, like, themes and vibes that I return to over and over (which I can only assume are why people subscribe to me), but if someone only likes my college AUs, or only likes my post-canon stuff, or only likes my E-rated stuff, or only wants to listen to my podfics, they're probably going to have a much more successful time saving the tag search than subscribing to me at the author level. Or they've mastered the art of archiving and moving on without complaining about it, like I do when the authors I'm subscribed to write something that doesn't interest me. It's a useful skill! I highly recommend cultivating it.

#4: AO3 not giving series stats is and continues to be the bane of my life, but based on the number of people who subscribed to the OG actor AU, there's probably a significant chunk of people who aren't subscribed to me as an author and only want the actor AU verse stuff. And good for them! I LOVE that AO3 offers multiple ways to subscribe so you can get notified for the stuff you want (my kingdom for the ability to subscribe to individual pseuds, though.)

#5: This fandom is OVERFLOWING right now. Like, I can't keep up. You only want to read E-rated stuff? Awesome! Well over 100 E-rated fics have been posted in the RWRB bookverse tag just this week (it looks like most of the movieverse smut has also been tagged bookverse, but either way it's also very easy to find). Or go back to older fics and find some hidden gems—there's nothing an author loves more than for someone to come in and gush about a fic they wrote a year or two ago.

#6: You don't pay me, and I'm not subject to annual review. One of my favourite authors was talking this morning about how sometimes she thinks about taking a break from writing for RWRB because it's starting to feel a little rat racey, and that would suck for me personally because I love her stuff but god knows I couldn't blame her, because the (extreme minority but still exhausting) entitled comments and rudeness really do not help. Stop treating your favourite authors like content creators who owe you something new on a regular schedule, because that's a damn good way to ensure they don't want to create anything new ever again. Like... anon, you haven't even bothered to couch this in a compliment. The bar is ten feet underground and somehow you still managed to trip over it.

#7: Not to be all 'back in my day' but... well, back in my day, snippets and peeks into the universe of a remotely popular longfic were pretty much the standard lol. Nobody is forcing you to read them, I promise.

#8: I've posted two E-rated fics in the last two weeks.

#9: Honestly I just really want to reiterate #1 because what the hell lol. While pronouns don't equal gender, it's pretty reasonable to extrapolate from pronouns if you don't have any other info to go on—and of the three "main/standard" pronouns, the one most closely associated with 'girl' is the only one that ISN'T in my bio 🤦

work i’m most proud of (and why): i think it's Hand Over Hand just because it's the first fic i finished and posted this year. thank you TOTK for frustrating and compelling me enough to break my years-long dry streak! in this fic, link and zelda meet ganon's new baby incarnation in gerudo town; it's about feeling trapped in gender roles and social positions in hyrule.

work i’m least proud of (and why): not applicable, i'm proud of having written anything. i don't think i absolutely crushed the execution on any of my fics, but i was prioritizing done over perfect. so it goes.

share or describe a favorite review you received: not one in particular, but Bedroom Diplomacy (the Foreigner fic) got the most "oh my god nobody is writing fic for this book fandom let me meticulously articulate my feelings about these characters that i've been saving up for a decade" paragraph responses i've ever had. god bless them. me too.

a scene or character you wrote that surprised you: i don't know, i feel like all my fics this year are very Fics By Pell? oh of course i'm writing fealty pwp/thinking about gerudo gender/getting briefly obsessed with OCs made up on the spur of the moment just to flesh out a scene. what else would i do.

i'm just gonna give this one to the OCs Speedrun and Triage in Can I Do Less?, my fic about ratchet in tf1 being Transformers Cis. i think they're fun.

a favourite excerpt of your writing: this bit from A Short, Sharp Lesson, my future megs meets baby megs transformers fic. i like the rhythm i hit; i like the seeds it sows for future megs within baby megs's viewpoint; i like the stupid little wordplays that i carefully do not flag at all, which are imo a huge hallmark of my fic just because i can't resist slipping in jokes literally wherever possible. later in this fic i describe a Cybertonian earthquake as a "geological segfault." get fucked.

Cybertron's crust shifts constantly. Mineshafts open and close at unpredictable rates, petrified energon rising and falling with the motion of the planet's internal mechanisms.

The miners all have their own theories as to why. The secular transformists talk about stellar phenomena. The devout talk about Primus: our god is an uneasy sleeper, they say. The Prime Mover isn't like us, hooked up to a charge cable on our sprues and runners in the locker room between shifts. Our god is the One True Infinite Motion Machine, the First Generator who brings life-giving minerals to the surface for the faithful and who keeps Cybertron's magnetic field active for His children.

D-16 knows there's more to it than that. Primus is testing them on their every shift. Are His children smart, fast, determined, lucky? And every shift of his life so far D-16 has answered yes, yes, yes, yes.

how do you hope to grow this year: mmmmm i'm worried about the quality of my prose! getting words down is good but i'm concerned that i only remember how to write very plainly. i miss the poetry of my older work.

any projects you’re looking to starting (or finishing) this year: i have 1.5 chapters to go on my current TMNT fic and i'm looking forward to knocking the rest out over the weekend! it's been so much fun working at a fast pace again. this TMNT fic is mostly people talking, and i'd like to do something with more plot/action. i was reminded recently of how much i like writing fight choreography! more of that sort of thing.

i have two wips on the go for TF1: one "what if we stopped the underlying tragedy of megop with the power of physical comedy" that's about 1/3 drafted, and one "what if the underlying tragedy of megop got worse with timeloops" that's outlined and not drafted.

why do you write fanfic?

short answer, because i love it and it makes me happy. longer answer, still that. but it makes other people happy too, sometimes, and especially as i am often writing for nicher series/pairings/dynamics/etc, i love knowing that someday if anyone else likes this obscure silly thing, they can go looking for fic about it and mine will be there waiting for them. also i am immensely unhappy when i'm not writing. i don't think i could live without it. and writing fanfic is fulfilling to me in a way that original work often is not, largely because of the community aspect and the low pressure for it to be marketable or revised or support me as a person or an artist tbh.

which of your posted stories do you think of the most even though the story is "finished"?

mmm tough call. the fey au in the sense that it's the world and plot i am proudest of craft-wise. i worked really hard and i think you can see that it paid off. but other than that i think... i think it might have to be please don't hold me to it right now. because i did it just how i wanted. in a way it's like what my boys in bars series was trying to be but didn't quite reach on the friendship level i think.

if you could give yourself fic advice from when you first started writing fic, what would that advice be?

just let yourself write what you want, how you want. you can have flowery prose. you can be weird and vague and metaphorical. you can just write about friends, i promise. and stop looking at your fucking stats.

what's your relationship to fic stats?

well. i think above answers that one lol. i've blocked my ao3 stats. i cannot see hit or kudos or bookmark counts on ANY fics. + i've gotten much better about not expecting anything especially by writing highly niche stuff.

is there a pairing or scenario or friendship that you miss writing? if so, why? if not, why not?

ehhh. the shazamily, to an extent. the shazam fandom is lovely because so many of us are writing family/friendship centric works and that's if not the norm, at least MUCH more common than in other fandoms that i've been in, and i miss that because at heart, i'm a genficcer. i'm a friendshipper. i love platonic and ambiguous relationships so much. so i miss that, but for the most part, i'm actually okay with not writing anything i used to write. that's okay.

what motivates you to write?

i WILL lose my mind if i don't. i can't even elaborate past that like i'll just go bonkers.

why do you write for the fandom(s) you write for?

because i am sick and ill and dying from brainrot and nobody is writing the highly specific content that i crave in the way that i crave it. sometimes there's nothing for the fandom at all, and SOMEBODY's gotta be the change. mostly i'm just like hyperfixated and losing it.

if you're stuck writing a WIP, what do you do?

take a break. do other things like jigsaw puzzles and taking walks and reading books. listening to phoebe bridgers on my floor. the usual. it'll pass. the ideas will come when they're ready.

what do you wish people knew about comments?

a genuine comment is never a bother. NEVER. no author that i have ever met is going to be upset at you for commenting on a fic and saying hey i really loved this!!! or something like that. no matter how old that fic is. no matter if the author has moved on, or put it on anon, or hasn't written fanfiction in years. it is never, ever a bother. when i get a comment on a fic that i didn't JUST post, i rejoice. i lie on my floor and i think about how incredible it is that people are still finding, reading, and loving something that i wrote, no matter how bad i think it is now that i've grown into a different person. i have coasted for WEEKS on the fact that someone left me a comment saying i loved this and here's my favorite part. here's why. this made me cry. this made me smile. this reminded me of my best friend. this is how it feels, really, you got it. any of that. all of it. sometimes a fic is me going "is this crazy??" and a comment is someone saying "no, no, it's not, i see it". a comment that takes like two minutes to type can matter for two years just by being like, hey, this mattered to me. plus like 90% of my friendships online have been founded on the basis of commenting on fanfic so you know, rave reviews from me.

maybe there's a question you wish had been on here. what's that question (and answer)? -> is there a fic and/or author who is doing what you want to be doing with your own writing? who/what?

i can yap all day about inspirations but lately, i am haunted by love me on purpose by smoosnoom in terms of themes, emotions, and pure aching; @thcscus in sheer technicality and prose; the pacing, metaphor, and tone in there's daggers in men's smiles, @beautyofsorrow's sensory work in literally Every fic ever + her fic for the barbie zine none of you losers get to read yet; and @blusandbirds' ability to capture visceral emotion so damn vividly and succinctly.

What’s up with the Canucks? I know their cap situation has historically been tight - do you think it got better this offseason?

The cap situation is the LEAST of the Canucks' worries, honestly. That whole team is a dumpster fire.

More under the cut. Pardon the delay in getting this out, but this is a long one!

So first off, the cap situation is bad. It honestly looks better than it is, mostly because of the LTIR. Plus, there's a ton of players whose contracts are expiring next offseason, most notable of which are Pettersson and Beauvillier that the Nucks really need to keep. The main problem is, management keeps swinging at bad players and overpaying them, then floundering on contracts for good players.

So, uh, that Bo Horvat trade, huh? Let's start with that. You signed JT Miller, a 30 year old, to a 7 year extension that would end when he's 37, for $8m a year with NMCs for the first few years and M-NTCs for the rest, going off a career year that he regressed from (predictably). This is a guy who we know has some character issues as well (see: him screaming at Collin Delia, his goalie teammate, for being unsure whether to leave the crease). And you traded your captain away to make the cap work for him? What did you even get for Horvat anyway? Beauvillier, Raty, and a top-12 protected first? Why didn't you trade Miller instead?

Speaking of a swing and a mess, Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Got signed to an 8x8.25, got traded from Arizona to Vancouver, and... got bought out. Now they're gonna have to deal with that on their books for eight whole years. Just another Benning-era flop. I guess it's still better than paying him for that amount, though.

They did pick up some guys, though, with the cap space they acquired - Teddy Blueger, Pius Suter, Carson Soucy. Oh, and extended Kuzmenko. But none of them move the needle enough. None of those players are going to propel this frankly lost team into the playoffs.

Now let's look at the LTIR list, or should I say LTIRetirement list. We've got Tucker Poolman, who played a total of three games last year and promptly disappeared off the map (and NOBODY knows what's wrong with him - and I asked! - but it's speculated to be concussion-related and possibly career-ending, and migraines - yep, like Nolan Patrick migraines - might be a part of it too). And Tanner Pearson. Oh, Tanner Pearson. Tanner Pearson had a hand injury in November, immediately got surgery, and the Canucks said he'd be out 4 to 6 weeks. Fast forward to January 12, Pearson is undergoing his third surgery and is not expected to return for the season. When Quinn Hughes is asked about this, he says "it wasn't handled right," essentially blowing a whistle to point to some form of incompetence from either the Canucks management, their doctors, or both. The Canucks launch an internal investigation and clear themselves; the NHLPA is also reportedly looking into it. Currently, it's been reported that Pearson has undergone 6-7 surgeries on the hand in question (possibly due to infection) and is working to regain quality of life. Yikes. Okay, let's move on from that depressing stuff with a Stereax story. See, one of my very first hockey memories was seeing Thatcher Demko clutch up for the Canucks in the 2020 playoffs against the Golden Knights. That man was ice cold. I was telling myself "no WAY he doesn't become a star tendie". And then... Vancouver broke him. Oops, I think we're back in depression territory. But the stats don't lie - he went from 64 games (33-22-7) played last year with a .915 save percentage to 32 games (14-14-4) played and a .901. Oh, and he got injured with a lower-body injury (LBI) on December 1, was out "6 weeks" apparently got reinjured in training February 17, and was out another 10 days? Yeah. I mean, the defensive structure in front of him being Quinn Hughes Playing 30 Minutes a Night doesn't help. Plus the whole botching injuries? Not a good look for the Canucks organization. Hell, players could have been knowingly playing injured or hiding injuries because they didn't want to deal with that shitshow.

Speaking of the shitshow, guess whose contract is up soon? That's right: Elias Pettersson is an RFA after 23-24! Think he's going to sign a long-term deal with this joke of a franchise? Or do you think he's going to pull a Matthew Tkachuk and essentially demand to be sign-and-traded? I wouldn't blame him if it's the latter, especially considering the lack of, well, anything the Canucks have.

First off, they have no prospects. Their farm system is nonexistent. They have one of the worst prospect pools in the NHL. And when they're not busy trading away their picks to acquire aging veterans, they're drafting badly. This is an old article, but it really, really drives the point home.

Okay, but like, the Pens and Bruins and Avs and Lightning have no prospect pools and they're still good, right? Well, yes, but actually no. See, the reason those teams have no prospects is because they're pushing all in for more Cup runs with their current cores. The Bruins traded away the future for one last Cup run in 2023. The Pens are close to doing the same for 2024. Ditto the Avs and Lightning. The Canucks are not these teams. Simply put, they're just not competitive. Even if they somehow eke out a wildcard next year (doubtful, given Vegas, Edmonton, LA, and Seattle are all also in the Pacific, but maybe it goes 5/3 and the Nucks get WC2), they lack the depth, defense, goaltending, and honestly offense too to make a deep run. That team is fundamentally flawed at its very core. It needs to rebuild, and rebuild properly this time. But the owners won't allow it.

Speaking of owners, the Canucks' owner, Francesco Aquilini, is a REAL piece of shit. Not only does he refuse to rebuild, he's as crooked of a "businessman" as you'll meet, routinely stiffing workers out of wages, raising rents to exorbitant levels (creating homeless seniors), causing the death of children due to negligence, and more. Wanna hear about the child abuse allegations?

And if none of this was bad enough, look at how they treated Bruce Boudreau. The Canucks were supposed to can him for months in favor of Rick Tocchet due to bad results, but left him to flounder like a sitting duck. Media was asking him what were his future plans for the team when he basically had the pink slip in his hands. Even if Bruce was trying to be a good sport about it, cracking jokes ("See you tomorrow - I hope"), this is no goddamn way to treat your coach. If you're going to fire the man, fire him and move on. (At least the fans understood what they were losing...) And of course this impacted the players down the final stretch of Boudreau's tenure - aware every day that your coach is going to be fired but not knowing when? That'll do a mental number on any team. Christ...

TL;DR - The Canucks are so fucked up that the cap isn't even their biggest issue. They're managing that okay enough, I guess, but they're mismanaging the team to hell and back so even good cap maneuvering means nothing.

We really did go through a lot to find pokemon in gen 3, didn't we? Especially since this was the days before consistent internet access, reliable guides, and solid coverage. You want Milotic? ok, so there are 6 random unmarked tiles in this entire river which have a 50% spawn rate, and it re-randomizes if you talk to an NPC on the other side of the map. You find it? Cool, go to the contests and raise its beauty stat to max with pokeblocks, remembering that if you don't raise it to max within a small number of pokeblocks it will just refuse to eat more. How many pokeblocks? depends. Anyway, Congrats! Oh, you want the regi's? ok, in the middle of a swirling maze of sea tiles that shove you, off in the middle of nowhere, find a small Diving spot and go to wall. There's a message in braille for you there saying to dive again, hope you know what braille is. Inside are many more braille tablets. go to the back wall, use dig, which I hope you have, and also I hope you have a waillord in the last slot of your party and relicanth (5% spawn in underwater grass on 2 routes) in the first. Do that, and 3 random rocks in the middle of nowhere all over the map will open, your hint to this is "a door opened somewhere far away." Find those obscure caves for more obscure braille hints like "wait twice" (don't move for 2 minutes). Congrats! careful not to knock them out though, only one chance. Oh, look the TV's flashing, but it's not the name rater show like it has been the whole game, it's a news report! It's somewhere, and it's red! What is it, and where? Red! Unknown to you, it's a different somewhere every time you enter a door, but good luck! Especially since it immediately runs and keeps the same HP between encounters, make sure not to knock it out :) Wynaut? Well this random tiny town has an old man saying whether he can see an island today. In the  1/10923 to 1/65536 chance that he can (depends on how many pokemon you have with you), go in the direction of that window and you'll find a new island with them. Bagon? previously unreachable section in a midgame cave, very back room, chance to spawn. Hope you aren't wearing repels! Beldam? Yeah it's in the champ's house in a corner of the map, a building and city you've otherwise looted already. Spheal, Snorunt? Yeah there's a cave whose tide changes throughout the day, go there at different times and there's different parts available. solve puzzles at both times and you can get a shell bell! And remember, this was 2003. Parents were either very controlling of your internet or outright banning it in fear of you getting kidnapped or getting their info hacked. Internet safety was taught in schools because it was a wild west where you could easily stumble onto anything, less corporate sanitization than a run down subway system. So running to it wasn't most people's first thought, and there was a good chance nobody would have what you were looking for, if you even knew how to find the right people. There's something wonderful to be said for those days. If you DID manage to get the regi's, you were likely the only kid at school to, and you felt like an ADVENTURER! You found old ruins in hidden untouched corners, with a language you may have never heard of before! You deciphered it and solved thier riddles to find something ancient and unlike anything you'd seen! And all by yourself, or the forum you stumbled on to figure it out with other explorers! It felt amazing! That said, they were right to dial it back in the future. Gen 4 probably had the best overall balance on these. Still, every time people get upset over a Malamar or Runerigus, I can't help but smile. That was part of the appeal, once upon a time. It always feels like they're saying "this one's for you, thanks for sticking around."

Y'all ever just get one of those moments where you have a full view of the abject horror that is the opinions of people on the left who very clearly do not deign to understand the opinions of people they disagree with?

And yeah the alt-right certainly didn't help with this ideological gap, though the name is basically a misnomer. Embracing fringe ideologies like fascism while rejecting capitalism puts you on the left. If you really read into what alt-right people are saying, they want socialism but they're racist about it. So they're effectively pushing away while the caller is inside the house. It's like how people say there's this weird trend of ultraliberal women dating men who are the most racist person you've ever met. They see eye to eye on everything. They believe the same things. It doesn't mean she's pretending. He just says the quiet part out loud.

But also the only reason they could possibly accuse the right of not thinking women should have rights is the abortion issue. The left is extremely selective on what human rights are actually rights that people should have, and even then they feel that they're not absolute. In many cases they have a great disdain for individual rights as a whole.

What I really want to get at though is that women aren't the only ones who are deciding they don't want to build families with men (and they tend to try to stay within their political ideals when selecting a partner so their dating pool, per this trend, is smaller and full of ain't-shits) because really, men don't benefit financially, emotionally, or medically either from marriage. Due in large part because a fair number of women just kind of fucking hate men for no reason.

Which is where one might trot out the statistic that 99% of the violent crimes and whatever are committed by men, completely ignoring that what that really says is that 99% of the reported crimes and convictions for crimes are committed by men. If men reported women in equal measure and crimes committed against men by women were taken equally as seriously, that number would drop by a lot. Much like how when you include men being forced to penetrate, the rape stats go about 50/50, leaning a little more toward men being the larger victim group.

Or how the Duluth model was created to supplement mandatory arrest laws because arrests of women went up 100+% while arrests of men went up about 30%.

Because when it comes right down to it, as I said earlier, men are pulling back from it all too. A full third of men in America aged 16 - 27 have decided they're just completely done with it all and they're just going to stay single because of the way they get treated by women. Marriage doesn't look like a good prospect because she can just abandon the vows and take half his shit, he might get verbally or physically abused and nobody will care, his emotional needs have absolutely no possibility of getting met.

So yeah, as women move further to the left and take exclusively low-value men with them, men are also moving to the right and saying they just can't be bothered with it at all. As women move into ideologies that insist that everyone be taken care of for free by some nebulous entity, men are deciding they don't want to provide for a partner who hates him.

And thus the gap widens.

Last night, a helicopter circled round and round for at least 45 minutes. I felt like I was back at the old place. Only this time, I was able to check and see it was a sheriff’s helicopter, probably looking for someone if it wasn’t an accident.

I knew a long time ago that Trump would be reelected because more and more people love him. But it seems like something up there is really determined to set the stage to get him reelected. First, he's shot, and everyone feels sorry for him. Then, Biden gets Covid and can't campaign. How convenient is that? Well, if there is anything up there, it's definitely more bad than good. I get his stance on the heads and illegals, but that's where it stops. Tom assures me that the president can only do so much, but they have a huge influence on those who can. Who do you think spearheaded the attack on women? He did by appointing conservative injustices. I just hope our rights aren't trampled on next time around. It was very alarming to see because I know that if those rights can be snatched, just about any rights can be. Believe me when I say the attack on women and gays will carry on as soon as he's back in. I only hope he doesn't pull any moves that could affect us negatively.

If Kamala were to run, the only thing she would have in her favor is her color (I totally believe the first female president, whoever they are, will not be white). But America is so in love with, infatuated, and even obsessed with Trump that nobody can beat him at this point. Just like the North Koreans can't beat Kim. It's like the worse someone is, the more obsessed people become with them and the more support they get. I just don't get it.

Given the conflicting information I'm getting between the two trackers I use to track my blog and the fact that Blogger’s own stats say I have a lot more views than what shows up on my reports, I wonder if people I know are looking in on me and trying to hide. I'm sure most of the views are just crawlers, but I still wonder. The only one I can think of who would be curious is Termite Tammy. But why is she so quiet about it if it's her? I'm used to look at this car it's very fast it is not a mid engine and it really should be and your idea is pretty good to have the option people are putting their eyebrows up and stuff but you say that it would have to be pushed forwards and notice that asset sticks out and it's kind of a deception the engine would be right on top of it and that's making it a rear engine which is a whole different thing. And it's true it does use the Corvette no it's the older Camaros and older fibroids that are longer and one would think there's room there. One more thing

That was Trisha and Alicia up top and this car is very fast there's nowhere for it to go forwards not much an inch or two and the rear end looks Humongous and the motor would not fit there and this is the Camaro and Firebird that we're talking about it doesn't have the length required however you don't have to put it on those chassis these days the sedan is close and you'd sell a lot more and you wouldn't have all these issues about this old piece of junk car. There is a full size car I'm gonna post that.

Ok so for some reason I decided to watch a bunch of martial vs caster videos and I think I've come to an opinion nobody has voiced yet.

So generally casters can do more things in d&d better than martials. Social interaction is mostly tied to mental stats which are used for Spellcasting, where they lack in physical abilities for exploration challenges can be circumvented with spells like spiderclimb or waterbreathing, in combat almost all AoE damage and status effects being applied to enemies comes from spells.

And the only things martials are argued to have over casters are lack of resources, survivability and single target damage. Resources yeah that's true at level 1-2, kinda 3-4 and then not really look at the spell points optional rule in the DMG it's literally just a casters total levels of slots available per class level. Survivability is complicated and honestly I just don't want to deal with right now, I won't argue whatever you think. Single target damage, well...

I don't know if I missed something because there's so many spells but what I could find for consistent damaging spells tended to have some kind of drawback, for burst damage fireball is great and can do a little more damage than 2 greatsword attacks, but a fighter can action surge and I'm pretty sure do more(to a single target) than a fireball and quickened cantrip. For sustained damage almost every spell needs concentration (spiritual weapon doesn't but has less than 30 feet movement so certain situations enemies could just out run it)

and unless you're ok with your damage output literally being killed by an AoE or your enemy can't move you're pretty much stuck to 1d6 per spell level as a bonus action. Combined with a cantrip this can be close to or even more round per round damage than a fighter of equal level depending on specifics, but only really when using the highest level slot.

So there are weaknesses to spellcaster single target damage but they mostly amount to ways of ending the spell early and at a certain point(I'm not sure exactly where) there's almost certainly going to be a critical mass of spells and slots where even if you lose concentration on your highest level spell you can switch to a lower level summon spell to finish the fight before they die

And even if martials are still a few damage points ahead is that really fair given how they lack everwhere else?
