FEBHYURARY 2025 - DAY 01: Hello, World.

Oh yeah yesterday I went to my C programming professor's office hours to ask about what's being covered in class tomorrow. Since I can't go bc of my PT appointment overlapping with it & I'm apparently the kind of student that cares about attending every single class now.

While I was there, I ended up chatting with him about a few things, including my current standing in the class. He asked what I got on the midterm exam, & I answered it was an 87, and he told me I was one of the top 5 or 6 scores in the Whole Class (this being a like. Maybe 70 or so person class). Top score was a 92 or 93 (idr lol) & the class average was a 72. Apparently there were a few of us in the upper 80s/lower 90s, but most people got 70s or lower. And once he does the curve on the exam, he said I'd probably end up with a 97 or so on the exam. So yay!!!

And then he told me how he's noticed how I come to class every day and am really active with taking notes and answering questions. Bc I also sit up front all the time lmao. Hadn't even realized how much of a damned teacher's pet I've been being, but I've been Trying to be a good student this year. But he said I was the type of student that if I got an 88% or smth in the class, he'd likely bump me up to a 90% so I'd get an A lol. But he also said so long as I keep up with how I have been, I could possibly get a 100% in the class by the end (bc I've been there for all the extra credit questions in class and whatever).

And just. I went there bc I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything important in class on Wednesday, and I ended up having my ego stroked for Real. Felt good to have my efforts be recognized.

I may just be delirious but I kind of feel like there's something there about some of the most traumatic events in Arakawa's life arguably stemming from/being made worse by being loved too much.

Like, Toshio's death, right. The death of a parent is always always going to be traumatic, particularly when your other parent is abusive, but I feel like being there, being the first to the scene, made it so much worse. Especially when it should've been a good memory.

Non-zero chance I'm just projecting because I was there for my own father's death and I was around Arakawa's age at the time, but it's like... it did have very specific life-long effects, didn't it... the way he keeps coming back to Peking duck and talks about it like he's had it before when he can't even bring himself to eat it unless he's with family (and indeed, never did, up until right before he died)...

And then there's his former patriarch. Of course, he seemed to see Arakawa as more of an object--fully under his control and something to be thrown away at the first sign of autonomy. But I feel like, before then, Arakawa must've been his "favorite," if he was willing to arrange a marriage between his daughter and Arakawa. Which I expect is what made his reaction when Arakawa told him he was (technically) having an affair with Akane and wanted out of the family that extreme in going as far as to send men after Akane and Ichiban.

The last one I can immediately think of is not exactly traumatic for him, though it is traumatic For Me so I'm counting it, but it's of course what we were talking about with Jo hesitating so much at the thought of killing Arakawa that he passed up the chance to save him.

My experiences with synastry

8th house synastry

By far, my favorite. Intense, transcendal, deep. It goes beyond the physical and mental, reaches straight into your soul. The sexual tension is palpable, and at the same time it feels like home.

Start by sending me an email [ contact.hotwe@gmail ] with a description of what you'd like to have done! You can tell me as much or as little as you like because I will be asking follow up questions regardless!

Commission prices are based 100% on what is being asked for and vary greatly! Once I know enough about what you're looking to get, I will give you an estimate for the price! It can go up or down a bit from there as additional information is given, specifically if you forgot to mention something or if I get more detail about something and realize it wont be as labor intensive as expected.

Do not worry if you have a budget, I will work with it! Changing things like how much is in frame and whether there is color, what kind of background if any, etc, can reduce the price a lot! Even if your piece can't be done within your budget, a sketch is only $45!

The sketch option is your request, in color (unless you don't want color!), with just the flat fee of $45. The caveat is I spend an hour and a half on it only!

I know what you're thinking, but no! With sketches, I won't double the time by doubling the price because that wouldn't be worth it for you at all. I make the most progress on a piece in that first 1.5 hours, then after that it takes a long time- like 10 hours- before any significant improvement happens to the piece. Do not worry about asking for something and finding my price is higher than your budget- you are not insulting me!!! For hand drawn commissions, it's much the same process as digital ones! Let me know what you are looking for, and if you have a preference on size as well. Generally, a hand drawn piece will be a bit cheaper because I don't have to agonize over color, but depending on factors like size and detail it could also ramp up quickly. However, I don't intend to take on anything particularly intensive, since hand drawn pieces are meant to reduce my commissions work time this year, not add to it!

ive never been a fursona kinda person but there's something about the thraits that activate the "I want to be one of those" part of my brain

this is one of those "what can I say" kinda games. so much of psychopomp is the atmosphere, the visuals, and just the general vibe. it's so intense that it's kinda impossible not to have a good idea of if you're gonna rock with it or not from the steam page alone

i was first introduced to this game via a mutual who I think has a good-ass taste in games specifically if they're about the severely mentally ill, like needy streamer overload and... antonball, i guess. hi nephro @thisisntapainting! anyway, I don't really have any first-hand experience with schizophrenia (which seems like what the game is trying to embody) but it seems like it's pretty effective. you can't really describe what happens in this game without it sounding like someone having a psychotic nervous breakdown. like, if you tried describing the plot of any other dark and surreal game like fatum betula or like, that one game with all the smiling as something that happened to you, people would be like "oh from a video game! what a silly YouTube prank you're doing". but with psychopomp you'd just get a sincerely concerned wellness check.

the first level I played had you going into a sewage treatment plant and helping nuggets of meat with animegao masks kill their queen/filtration system. it's like, a level above the full immersion technique of expecting the player to adjust to their surroundings naturalistically and just tries to actively fuck with you because you tried understanding. you dont get a deeper explanation of why we are perpetually harvesting the bones of children and frankly its pathetic of you to expect otherwise. is that what psychosis is like? welp, nothing to do but choose an extreme schema through which to filter all these experiences. I think the helmet kid is like if I saw the tv glow was about being christ, and also there was a 30 minute long childbirth scene, i wont explain further

i hear the gameplay get compared to kings field a lot (i typed this out, but couldnt verify it? i think i got this mixed up with lunacid lmao), but I think that's just cuz it's one of the only real time fps dungeon crawlers that most English speakers have played. oh, speaking of, did you know this game has a big Russian fanbase? I've never been able to say that about well-adjusted games, it's always shit like hotline Miami and hello Charlotte. are you guys okay? anyway, the gameplay is awesome.

I love how uncomfortable it makes you feel just by trying to force the world into a grid, making things feel claustrophobic or off centre. I like how easy it is to get punished for not having your hammer selected when something starts running at you, encouraging a paranoid playstyle where you always have a weapon out and slowly creep around corners. that part in the childrens hospital where the nature segment leads too a hallway thats juuuust big enough to hide the walls is the darkness so you have no idea how big it is is wonderful. it builds a really effective ludonarrative, where you learn about pompy as a character through how the player naturally acts, in the same way we know sonic likes to go fast because he's always in video games where the player goes fast. (also, no spoilers, but i love how well this is used in the epilogue as well)

she's paranoid, indifferent to the value of life around her, just touching and killing things. she picks needles up off the floor and just shoves em in her blood. she has no thoughts about the cultural wall paintings in the thrait village, or anything to say about the tv playing anti-spaceworm propaganda other than that it's dusty. she's impulsive, she just kinda says things that dont really follow together, she doesn't care about her personal safety or well-being, and barely cares to learn about the world around her beyond what gives emotional gratification like justifying her misanthropy. maybe this is just me reading too deep into it, but I think a good narrative should encourage you to look into a characters head and construct how they think and see the world based on their actions, and video games are special in that regard because they can do so using the player as a conduit. i could also just be straight-up wrong, this game is pretty impenetrable

despite trying to cultivate an air of perpetually having no idea what the fuck is going on, things are established in this game with surprising consistency. like, itll contradict reality as you know it, but it wont contradict itself. theres a poster talking about how venus and mercury are fictional planets, and the moon has an eye, so now you know space is fucked. then when you see the transient area with a hatched cocoon and one with a tv talking about a worm you can reasonably surmise that the space worm is the king/queen of venus. and then therell suddenly be some additional bullshit thatll make you reconsider everything you know like a child that just figured out other countries exist, like how humans evolved two seperate times. i could keep going, trust me, but wed be here all day

i try not to use the word "perfect" too much, but i sincerely believe that this game succeeds in everything it attempts to do. the gameplay does a wonderful job at encouraging a terrified playstyle, with little touches like how you have to put your weapon down to unlock doors. the atmosphere is a perfect industrial mindfuck where everything is a conspiracy-inspiring combination of man-made and realistically impossible. it does everything it can to entice you to try and figure the world out and before you know it youre doing some pepe silvia bullshit, just like helmet freak would be doing if she didnt already KNOW the answers from the start and made this whole mess just to confirm her own delusions.

like. i cant emphasize enough how fucked up this game makes me feel, theres a visceral uncomfortable feeling like my skins on too tight and i need to get the fuck out. i can only play one level a day and i need a variable amount of time before i build up the courage to jump back in there. i missed one of the keys to get the secret thingy (how are you supposed to break that silk door thing in the moth level?) and let me tell you i am NOT going through all that again. this game makes me sweat just because of how stressed out and anxious i feel from the moment-to-moment gameplay and the oppressive ass atmosphere.

anyway! play the damn game. one of the best and most effective psychological horror games ive ever played, mandatory gaming for anyone who appreciates atmosphere in a video game. if you have fun analyzing esoteric narratives, itll give you something to chew on for... god knows how long really, i still dont really know how to articulate what ive seen. that doesnt stop it from being incredibly effective, honestly the fact that its just a vaguely-themed collection of shit devised from the ground up to freak you out is a point in its favour.

Hello. Soo, I started to binge watch Yellowjackets and have managed to catch up with the latest season and I absolutely love it. It has its issues and flaws but I’m absolutely entertained. I also started to lurk on the fandom and I’m so confused as to how come Lottien** became such a popular ship. No shade but I just couldn’t understand how it’s gotten so popular. I get that they would look terrific together and there’s some potential to their dynamics but truly, I’m just shocked how it’s almost like the most popular ship out of the show. Like, I could be bias but Jackie and Shauna have the most fascinating dynamics since the pilot episode. I’m even more invested with Lottie and Laura Lee as a ship because that’s another fascinating dynamic and the toxic yuri potential it has if LL lived longer. Lmao. Anyway, can you explain how Lottien** has become so popular? To be fair, I do think the adult versions had chemistry together but even then, its more sisterhood imho.

now about your question...... that's tough because i really don't want to be a hater (i really really could though lol) so first i want to point out two things. first of all people can ship whatever they always right? i literally ship all these girls together lol many of us have shipped characters in this show that didn't even talk to each other once you know? and to be fair there IS a lot of appeal to the lottien*t dynamic, it was specially noticeable on s2, the whole believer/non believer, spiritual guide/pragmatic leader, the first antler queens, a bit of rivals to lovers, and yeah i think the adult versions had Insane chemistry! so there's a lot there for sure!

but you know what i agree with you. i'm not sure why it became basically the most popular ship out of the show, and i'm not sure i like it. like. you could argue jackieshauna are at the center of the show, and it's really a great ship, peak homoerotic bestfriendism that Will kill you and haunt you forever. *and* literally what about taivan??? literally THE canon lesbian ship??? both of them still alive??? genuinely so good??? we failed by not making them annoyingly popular tbh. and also adult mistynat continues to be one of the absolute best dynamics in the entire show. my personal favorite (noticeably) is lottielee. but since i'm extremely biased and it directly contradicts lottienat (unless we have fun and multiship like god intended <3) i wont even get into that or else i won't shut up. besides! the problem is very much not which one if better because. let's just not do that. but why is that one the most popular???

i honestly would love to hear other people's opinions too bc like... i want to understand too. but i'm going to be honest my only explanation is kinda mean... i think people just think they're hot, they're obsessed with sophie thatcher, and dont want to ship nat and travis (which is all very valid and even relatable tbh they just exaggerate i think you know?) but idk why so many people got so intense about this one ship. and i mean intense (ignoring/being rude about all other characters and ships and opinions and tbh often making them ooc and mischaracterizing lottie so bad for the sake of making them fit certain tropes)

Happy (early) New Years!

My last upload for 2025!!! It's New Years Eve for me tomorrow so it's.... not too early in terms of my timezone PFFT

But yeah, gods, how did 2024 go by so slowly but so quickly? Admittedly, 2024 hasn't been kind on me, both physically and mentally. With the stress of my sister's pregnancy carrying until August, hopefully you can understand how stressful that time period had been on us TwT

Not only that, after he was born, the.... house has become a little bit of a pigsty, so that's not great on my mental health either 💀 I've also pushed my body way too hard this year with nearly drawing at my laptop for all year straight, rendering me bedridden at one point this year just because my body was in too much pain to move. Not great at all.

For the copius amounts of stress and anxiety I endured, I gotta say there were some fuckin' EXCELLENT moments!! I went to comic con for the first time in so long, and cosplayed Michael from FNAF, joining in with photos and overall celebrating FNAF's 10th anniversary at the con with so many others! AND MY BESTIE WAS THERE TOO! Cosplaying as the puppet >:D!

We also went to the aquarium for my birthday which was so bloody lovely. AND WE SAW PESTO, the GOAT that he is KEKEK

HUEHUEHUE I ALSO FINISHED FINAL FANTASY 5 TODAY!! MEANING I have accomplished completing Final Fantasy's 4, 5 & 6 aswell as other games such as Night in the Woods, Undertale, Undertale Yellow, Deltarune and TLOZ: Echoes of Wisdom >:3

I also cannot underestimate how welcoming the Undertale and Deltarune community was to me aswell. I made so many friends and mutuals through it, I literally cannot express how much that meant to me ;w; AND AND THE METTATON COMMUNITY, YOU GUYS RULE!!!!!! ✨✨✨✨✨ This was the first time in so long I felt I belonged. So, thank you :'> I look forward to Mettaton May 2025 >:))))))

ALSO Cannot forget one last thing.... ART FIGHT. My best year yet HUEHUEHUE I loved attacking so many characters this year, and yes, I SURPASSED MY HIGHEST SCORE! I plan to go further beyond in 2025, buttttt I also won't put pressure on myself to actually achieve it.

For as mixed as 2024 has been, I learnt for myself what my new year's resolution will be for 2025. No, I won't put pressure on myself a 50 billionth year in a row telling myself to practice backgrounds LMAO

No, my New Years Resolution Is to be kind on myself. 2015 was my favourite year ever, and even if 2025 doesn't end up being as good as 2015, I wont wallow in that. But I want to make it as special as I could possibly be able to achieve. Especially in preparation for 2026.

2026 is an uncertainty for us. Our lease ends in 2026, and around Christmas is when we learn if we get another year or we're booted. If you didn't know, Australia is going through an intense housing crisis, so I genuinely fear what will happen when that day comes.

But, for now and in the present, I'm going to try and make 2025 special for myself. I want to do so much, and ESPECIALLY go to Comic Con again as Noir Mettaton PFFT But yeah. Lets hope, knock on wood, that 2025 is a good year. Better than this year atleast OIUGGGJH
