Silver says those words impulsively, trying them on for size, unsure if it’s an attempt to convince Flint or himself. The truth of it doesn’t really matter. Being angry at Flint feels like being angry at winter for freezing you, rather than angry at yourself for not wearing a coat. Saying it’s Flint’s fault would be at once too easy and too dangerous.

But he wants Flint to say it. He wants Flint to argue, and weep. He wants Flint to make it right. He couldn’t for himself, so he must for Silver. Silver doesn’t know how that makes sense, exactly, but Flint fucking owes him this. _____

In the wake of Madi's death, Silver is left broken and reeling, unable to cope. Flint, determined to see him through it, allows him to vent his feelings.

Big fan of when a character's grief/trauma/guilt manifests as physical symptoms. Big fan of characters keeping things so tight inside them that it makes them sick. Big fan of when the line blurs between a character's mental trauma and physical illness until it's hard to tell which is which anymore.

#whump #k once i did a fic where a character had pneumonia #and also was in Big Mental Distress and mentally going over all the people he'd lost in his life etc #and i gotta say i'm proud of myself for bringing up the recurrent motif of his chest being pianful...like is it from being sick & coughing #or bc he's grieving so badly it's putting him in physical pain #ANYWAY

due to the fact that in the second series we were confirmed that the participants of the show still have some kind of sleep and dreams - my theory that Kinger suffers from insomnia was confirmed. and this means that these small "hangups" of the Kinger may actually be a banal attempt to sleep at least with his eyes open. or he is just autistic.

A little sneaky preview of the first few pages of my comic, Strange Waters! The 31 page comic I made for PCAF Perth, following the backstory of my ASOIAF tabletop character Gwyn and his mysterious Ironborn upbringing. (Our campaign is run by @oneirotect with my fellow pc @clownprincenico) It made me so incredibly happy to draw so many seals.

I'll have physical copies available to purchase when my shop reopens next friday! (16th August 2024) and it will later be available to purchase as a PDF or to read on my website! I'll keep you updated!

Although this line makes everyone melt (How could it not? Look at him!)...

Can we talk about this other one for a moment?

Tav: Gale Dekarios... I like him more. Gale: You like so many things about me I'd have sooner discarded... Your generosity is quite wonderful.

Why does he always have that sad look when he talks about himself? (In the boat scene, too) Gale, stupid wizard, you are good enough as you are. It's not 'generosity', we love you very, very much too.

If you allow me another consideration: I think it's a very well made character development that Gale in this dialogue refers to 'Gale Dekarios' in the third person...

Gale: Though let's keep his existence between ourselves for now.

... instead in the epilogue 'him' becomes 'Gale of Waterdeep'.

Gale: Oh, him. I've been thinking a lot about that 'Gale of Waterdeep' sound a bit pompous...

Eventually, Gale accepts himself.
