u know that tumblr post that's 'i would know my mutual no matter their url or icon change?' or how soulmates find each other no matter what?
my thing is reading something and (or watching something) and realizing it's loosely based on twlight!human fic.
it took me like 400pgs in the epub to realize the book protags are based on edward and bella if they were academics and also alice is her roommate who watches obscure movies.
jack is like 'i can't tell who you are or what ur thinking' and of course elsie's like 'he hates me...why....' elsie having this need to take care of everyone and having a shitty mom....just like bella...jack being rich but feeling like the black sheep of his perfect family....edward cullen.
things based on twilight will always find me. it's a blessing and a curse.

I think I completely and utterly failed to understand how monumentally difficult it was for Edward to leave the men who wanted to assault Bella alive.
The first time I read it, I was probably thinking that he was being overprotective. That his repeated comments about how he wanted to go back and kill them were overdramatic expressions of love that he had developed so quickly.
Watching the movie, I probably wasn't reading into the behavior at all. That it was just him being overprotective, being angry or macho or whatever other trait pop culture finds desirable in a man.
Even the second time I read the book, it didn't click.
But I'm reading it again. And I'm realizing how. Badly. He must want to run outside and hunt those men down, even as he's sitting with Bella in the cozy little restaurant.
When Edward was feeding on humans, he was feeding on violent criminals. He specifically predated individuals who were hurting people, probably in the exact ways those men wanted to hurt Bella. So in his head, number one, that would label them subconsciously as "food" for him.
There is also definitely the issue of the fact that he does care for Bella. She's his friend, and she's kind of a fascination, and even if they don't know each other very well at this point, he obviously likes her. She makes him feel all confused and flustered. She likes him, and he's drawn in by her, and whether or not he's developed feelings of love at this point, it's undeniable that he's sucked into her gravity.
The last point is, I think on some level, Edward has decided that Bella is his prey. He saw her first. He smelled her first. He had the chance to eat her first. He could have done it at any time, and she keeps walking up to him, and it's like she's trying to fix the cosmic predator/prey imbalance made by him not eating her when he had the chance the first time. And I think he sees this happening consciously, and it's part of what is tearing him up inside when he's around her.
All that is to say, not only did these guys want to hurt his friend. They wanted to take his kill. And they themselves are more "food" than "person" in his mind. And it creates this perfect storm for him, because he has every single reason to just kill them all right then. And he knows it wouldn't even be hard to do. But he also knows it would hurt Bella and Carlisle. But it's a lifestyle that he's lived before, and been rewarded for. But he knows he shouldn't. But he did at one point, and it was easy, and it was human blood, and he hasn't had human blood in so long, and Bella's right there and already smells delicious, and these guys are food, they're filth, they're not even people—
So yes. Now that I'm experiencing this story a fourth time, I finally understand why half an hour later and several miles away, Edward is still fighting the urge to go kill those guys.
And it's impressive that he doesn't.

I get that Edward sucked the venom out of Bella for Romance Purposes™ but Carlisle is literally right there it would have been so much safer for him to do it. He's just sitting on the sidelines watching the guy who is more drawn to her blood than anyone's else's with her open flesh in his mouth while Carlisle has WAY more practice in controlling his blood lust and has more or less done this like six times in the past.
It's so stupid. If Meyer wanted to make the scene work she would have forced Carlisle out of the picture

Blood Moon
Demetri Volturi x fem!swan!reader
Warning: Angst?
A/N: WELCOME!!! My new series!! This takes place in the beginning of eclipse! This is very different then what I usually write!lemme know if ya wanna be on the taglist!♡
Tumblr media
Y/N Swan, never felt like she had a true place in this world. Her family always ignored her, Bella mistreated her, and Charlie was always busy with trying to get Bella to feel loved, and feel wanted, he neglected you. You got the fact she was separated from her family, but you were too. You lived with Charlie, while Renè got Bella. That was the agreement, and you were fine with that. Everything was fine, up until Bella met Edward. Then the whole, Italy thing happened. You and Charlie were going ballistic waiting for her to call. But needless to say, you were furious at Edward.
You spent your nights alone in your room, binge watching teen wolf, or listening to music. You had no friends, but you really didn't care either. You preferred staying in.
It was a very quiet afternoon, a little too quiet. Charlie had gone off to work until nine twenty-four pm. You had time to kill, until he got off, like you always did. You decided to do your homework on your computer, you had a twenty five paged essay due tomorrow for English class, and Mr. Gibson, was a very strict teacher.
You changed into a hoodie and some black ripped leggings, topped with a orange beanie. Basically your everyday attire.
You sat in front of the computer and began your essay, when Bella basically busted in your door screaming like a lunatic.
"Y/N! You said what to Edward?!" She screamed in a high pitched annoying voice.
You simply told him to 'go find a nice ripe hole, crawl in it and die, like the worthless monster he is' for the way he treated Bells.
"Snitch told? Wow, okay." You said rolling your eyes. "I apologized, I didn't mean it to go that far, I was angry. You know I'm a pacifist, you know I don't mean harm." You calmly said typing up your English assignment. Even though it was hard to focus with her yelling.
"You had no right, Y/N! You ruined everything he thinks he isn't good enough for me even more now!" She yelled in frustration.
"As he should. He isn't good enough for you, I speak the truth, point blank periodt." You said continuing to type your paper.
"Yeah, you speak the truth, that's why you're gonna be alone forever, like you are now." Bella said spitefully, and then soon regretted it.
You looked at her with tears in your eyes, it had felt like your heart had been ripped out of your chest. You knew your sister didn't really like you, but you never thought she'd say that. That was your biggest fear, and she knew it.
You got up closing your computer and pushing past her, grabbing your boots, and ran right out the front door.
"Y/N! I'm sorry! Don't leave, dad will be home soon!" Bella begged as she followed you outside. "It's dark!" She screamed.
"As if you care!" You yelled back.
You took off running down the street as fast as you possibly could, before she could see you cry. It was slightly raining making the weather more colder than it actually was. You had no clue where to go, as you had no where to go.
You hid in a dusty ally filled with crates behind your favorite coffee shop. You usually came here when you needed to get away. She was right, you were a nobody. You slid your back down the brick wall plopping on the wet ground covered in leaf's and twigs. That's when you broke down in tears sobbing.
That's also when you heard it, twigs snapping. You flung your head around to see a guy who looked as if he was a vampire as well, he looked nothing like the Cullens, he was tall, pale, and very nasty looking with dark red eyes. He had stubble on his face, as well as a nasty grin.
You moved and tried running away, but he had other plans, in a swift quick movement, he threw you to the other end of the ally, your back hitting the brick quite hard, a loud scream escaped your lips as you fell to the ground with a thud.
He then leaned down in front of you and whispered, "This is from Victoria." His voice was deep and raspy, you had the urge to vomit as soon as he opened his mouth. And your last dying thought was, how this was Bella's fault. You were about to die and it was her fault. You didn't wanna go out like this, you tried pepper spraying him in the eyes but that did nothing. It just made him more angry.
He leaned in and bit your leg. You screamed in pain and felt a burning sensation go throughout your body. But just as your vision went blurry, he was viciously yanked away by someone much taller and leaner than the other vampire.
But the only thing you could hear was your screams and sobs. The agony spreading throughout your body was unbearably painful. Undoubtedly the worst pain you've ever felt.
The man then crouched next to you, just a few seconds later, and whispered, "It's okay Amore, I'm gonna make it stop." He whispered in a thick accent that made you feel a fluttery feeling, even with the pain. And with his promise, he then began sucking the venom out of your leg. You screamed loudly again in pain, but the pain soon faded. It barely hurt now, you were just left with a dizzy feeling. He quickly pulled away making sure you were still okay.
His presence alone made you feel safer, like you were wanted, like there was a true plan for you, other than the painful loneliness that was your horrible life.
"It's okay, you're okay, let's get you to the hospital." He whispered as he wrapped a cloak around you, instantly making you warmer, "May I pick you up?" He whispered again in his gentle accent. You nodded and winced quickly after. And with your permission he gently picked you up in his cold arms. You rested your head on his chest trying to forget about the pain and events that had occurred before. He ran you to the hospital in a blink of a eye.
you felt very safe, and very drawn to this stranger. Like it was fate he found you. The words just slipped out, "M-My angel.." You whisper mumbled, and the next thing you know, everything around you got extremely blurry and you passed out.
Demetri's pov:
I dropped her off at the hospital, but left my cloak on her hospital bed. For the first time, I didn't care about anything else except for her safety. It took every fiber in my body to stop from killing her. It wasn't without difficulty, but I managed to somehow do it. I was going to meet with the rest of the coven, hoping they wouldn't notice my disappearance.
That's when I saw Scarlett, outside the hospital. She was wearing her usual, black and gold cloak with her hood up to keep from getting seen by any humans. "Uh, Excuse me? Excuse you! What are you doing Demetrius? My father won't be happy about you saving some random human!" She said in a annoyed tone.
"Aro, can deal. She is my mate. You would do the same if that were Jane!" I said and took off running towards the rest of the coven. She stood there glaring for a second, before following close behind me.
"What took so long?" Jane said emotionless as always.
I looked at Scarlett with pleading eyes. I knew that if Aro got word of her, he would kill her for being human.
Scarlett smirked and kissed Jane on her cheek, "Demetri got thirsty, we fed." She looked back at me and mouthed, 'you owe me' I kindly nodded my head. I'd do anything for her, as long as she didn't tell. I did owe her big time.
"Mhm, Well..." Jane looked at Scarlett, and ever so slightly twitched her lip up into a slight smirk, and back at the chaos we were dealing with in Seattle. "We have a bigger problem, then Demetri's thirst."
I let out a unesasary sigh, thanks to Scarlett, I had time to come up with a idea on how to hide her from the Volturi. This definitely wouldn't be a easy thing to do, but I had to try.

long nonsensical twilight ramblings, enjoy.
Okay !! Let me preface this by saying that I haven’t watched or read Twilight Series in years !! BUT ... i was thinking about vampire Bella ...
I will always think that Super-Self-Control-Bella is a cop out.
Jasper and Emmett were literally betting how many humans she would kill in her newborn years. So she shouldn’t have ever been as cool, calm, and collected as she was. ANd I get that for story building purposes she couldn’t be a blood thirsty monster because her daughter had a heartbeat and the planning for the volturi had to happen ,,,, but it still sucked.
Like, hear me out, Bella should have killed that mountain climber straight up. And then after she realized what she did, the guilt from that action is what could have kept her in check. She had a monstrous moment, and after that moment realized she didn’t want to be a monster, so she kept her blood lust under better control.
BUt THAT also brings me to Vampire BElla’s special power.
Having her be a shield was just too obvious. Having her mind be silent was fine, they could have just gone with the “you think on a different wave length” thing, and be done with it.
But, Think about how the vampires inquire their powers. Intuitive human Edward can now read minds. Human Jane who wanted the world to feel what it felt like to burn alive can now project pain with a single look.
Now think about Human Bella’s skill. She drew people in. This ordinary, plain girl brought people in like a moth to a flame. Jessica said her first day that she was the “shiny new toy,” but Jessica herself was drawn in by Bella, and the novelty didn’t really go away. For seemingly no reason other than being the new girl, she caught the attention of her human classmates, and she kept it.
She also caught the attention of the Cullen’s. As rocky as the start was, it ended with them all willing to die to protect her. With Emmett and Alice and Esme and Carlisle all loving her as family. With Edward, who never showed interest in anyone, wanting to spend forever with her. With war-hardened Jasper telling her she was worth it..Think about how broken the family was when they left.. Of all the schools, and all the humans, what was so special about Bella Swan?  She drew them in, captured their attention, and kept it.
The wolf pack was also willing to die for her, despite the fact that she wasn't a part of their people, both pre-resume and post-resume. The pack were her friends, some before they shifted and some after, but they still let her be apart of the pack despite not imprinting with any of them. Other than her knowledge on vampires what did she bring to the pack, other than herself.
Bella was able to make herself an entire supernatural army to fight against newborns, when the safest option for them, the option with the least amount of bloodshed, would have been to just hand Bella over to Victoria and let the volturi take care of the newborns.
SO I didn’t really think this through and I have no idea where this is going and it probably doesn’t even make sense, but 100% Bella’s special vampire power should have been allure ,,, or even the ability to switch alliances and make people fight for her ( which for have made for an interesting final fight )

Amnesia (Book Two)(Part Eleven)
Tumblr media
Irina's Fate
Aro did not rejoin his anxious guard waiting on the north side of the clearing; instead, he waved them forward. Edward started backing up immediately, pulling Bella’s arm and Emmett's. They hurried backward, keeping their eyes on the advancing threat. Jacob retreated slowest, the fur on his shoulders standing straight up as he bared his fangs at Aro. Renesmee grabbed the end of his tail as they retreated; she held it like a leash, forcing him to stay with them. Soon, everyone arrived at their side of the field again, leaving only fifty yards between them - a distance any of the vampires could leap in just a fraction of a second. Caius began arguing with Aro at once. "How can you abide this infamy? Why do we stand here impotently in the face of such an outrageous crime, covered by such a ridiculous deception?" He held his arms rigidly at his sides, his hands curled into claws. Maeryn felt the same. Why not just attack already? The Cullens have been a trouble ever since Bella and Edward met. And now they think they are invincible due her shield. Maeryn swore that she would break that little shield of hers and let Jane have a go at her. Fury was burning through her newborn body, the hope for a fight was growing fast, making the newborn more eager by the minute. Alec, who had noticed his mate’s behavior, grabbed her hand once more and stroked it with his thumb, trying to calm her down. She needed to keep her head straight and remember the strategy they had discussed. However, Alec didn’t feel soothed at all. Never had he cared for an outcome of a battle, until now. The large group of vampires in front of him worried him. They, ofcourse, would first go for the three of them, and especially Maeryn was an interesting target, seeing as her gift can tamper with Bella’s shield and destroy many vampires within seconds. She may even be a greater threat than his sister and him. "Because it's all true," Aro told him calmly. His voice brought the two vampires back to their attention. "Every word of it. See how many witnesses stand ready to give evidence that they have seen this miraculous child grow and mature in just the short time they've known her. That they have felt the warmth of the blood that pulses in her veins." Aro's gesture swept from Amun on one side across to Siobhan on the other. Caius reacted oddly to Aro's soothing words, starting ever so slightly at the mention of witnesses. The anger drained from his features, replaced by a cold calculation. He glanced at the Volturi witnesses with an expression that looked vaguely... nervous. Maeryn glanced at the angry mob, too, and saw immediately that the description no longer applied. The frenzy for action had turned to confusion. Whispered conversations seethed through the crowd as they tried to make sense of what had happened. Maeryn quickly returned her attention back to the foes, anger rising up again. Cowards. Caius was frowning, deep in thought. Maeryn saw Bella getting anxious and she inspected her shield, flexing it into a low, wide dome that arced over their company. Maeryn knew she could try and break her shield now, but decided against it. Maybe if Bella would get overconfident, she would eventually lower her shield a little, causing weak spots that Maeryn could break through. Maeryn followed every movement the shield made. First, Bella pulled the elastic armor very carefully closer. Carlisle was the farthest forward; she sucked the shield back inch by inch, trying to wrap it as exactly to his body as she could. Her shield seemed to want to cooperate. It hugged his shape; when Carlisle shifted to the side to stand nearer to Tanya, the elastic stretched with him, drawn to his spark. Maeryn had to admit, she was quite fascinated by the shield, which made her even more angry. It seemed like hours, yet it had only been seconds. Caius was still deliberating. "The werewolves," he murmured at last. Bella seemed frightened for a moment, realizing that her shield did no longer cover the shape shifters, and drew the shield tighter in, until Amun and Kebi - the farthest edge
of our group - were outside with the wolves. She edged outward again, but she only covered the Alpha. Their minds must have been interconnected, protecting all the wolves. "Ah, brother...," Aro answered Caius's statement with a pained look. "Will you defend that alliance, too, Aro?" Caius demanded. "The Children of the Moon have been our bitter enemies from the dawn of time. We have hunted them to near extinction in Europe and Asia. Yet Carlisle encourages a familiar relationship with this enormous infestation - no doubt in an attempt to overthrow us. The better to protect his warped lifestyle." Edward cleared his throat loudly and Caius glared at him. Aro placed one thin, delicate hand over his own face as if he was embarrassed for the other ancient. "Caius, it's the middle of the day," Edward pointed out. He gestured to Jacob. "These are not Children of the Moon, clearly. They bear no relation to your enemies on the other side of the world." "You breed mutants here," Caius spit back at him. Edward's jaw clenched and unclenched, then he answered evenly, "They aren't even werewolves. Aro can tell you all about it if you don't believe me." Maeryn could see the confusion on Bella’s face as she shot a mystified look at Jacob. He lifted his huge shoulders and let them drop - a shrug. He didn't know what Edward was talking about, either. Poor things. They don’t even know what they are themselves. "Dear Caius, I would have warned you not to press this point if you had told me your thoughts," Aro murmured. "Though the creatures think of themselves as werewolves, they are not. The more accurate name for them would be shape-shifters. The choice of a wolf form was purely chance. It could have been a bear or a hawk or a panther when the first change was made. These creatures truly have nothing to do with the Children of the Moon. They have merely inherited this skill from their fathers. It's genetic - they do not continue their species by infecting others the way true werewolves do." Caius glared at Aro with irritation and something more - an accusation of betrayal, maybe. "They know our secret," he said flatly. Edward looked about to answer this accusation, but Aro spoke faster. "They are creatures of our supernatural world, brother. Perhaps even more dependent upon secrecy than we are; they can hardly expose us. Carefully, Caius. Specious allegations get us nowhere." Caius took a deep breath and nodded. They exchanged a long, significant glance. Maeryn knew the instruction behind Aro's careful wording. False charges weren't helping convince the watching witnesses on either side; Aro was cautioning Caius to move on to the next strategy. Yes, Maeryn knew. Yet she wished something would occur that would start off the fight. Maeryn, however, wondered if the reason behind the apparent strain between the two ancients - Caius's unwillingness to share his thoughts with a touch - was that Caius didn't care about the show as much as Aro did. If the coming slaughter was so much more essential to Caius than an untarnished reputation. "I want to talk to the informant," Caius announced abruptly, and turned his glare on Irina. Irina wasn't paying attention to Caius and Aro's conversation; her face was twisted in agony, her eyes locked on her sisters, lined up to die. It was clear on her face that she knew now her accusation had been totally false. Maeryn smiled, knowing very well that this was the moment where everything could turn around and the battle could start. "Irina," Caius barked, unhappy to have to address her. She looked up, startled and instantly afraid. Caius snapped his fingers. Hesitantly, she moved from the fringes of the Volturi formation to stand in front of Caius again. "So you appear to have been quite mistaken in your allegations," Caius began. Tanya and Kate leaned forward anxiously. "I'm sorry," Irina whispered. "I should have made sure of what I was seeing. But I had no idea___" She gestured helplessly in the foe’s direction. "Dear Caius, could you expect her to have guessed in an instant something so strange and
impossible?" Aro asked. "Any of us would have made the same assumption." Caius flicked his fingers at Aro to silence him. "We all know you made a mistake," he said brusquely. "I meant to speak of your motivations." Irina waited nervously for him to continue, and then repeated, "My motivations?" "Yes, for coming to spy on them in the first place." Irina flinched at the word spy. "You were unhappy with the Cullens, were you not?" She turned her miserable eyes to Carlisle's face. "I was," she admitted. "Because... ?" Caius prompted. "Because the werewolves killed my friend," she whispered. "And the Cullens wouldn't stand aside to let me avenge him." "The shape-shifters," Aro corrected quietly. "So the Cullens sided with the shape-shifters against our own kind - against the friend of a friend, even," Caius summarized. Maeryn felt a small smirk forming on her lips. She heard Edward make a disgusted sound under his breath. Caius was ticking down his list, looking for an accusation that would stick. Irina's shoulders stiffened. "That's how I saw it." Caius waited again and then prompted, "If you'd like to make a formal complaint against the shape-shifters - and the Cullens for supporting their actions - now would be the time." He smiled a tiny cruel smile, waiting for Irina to give him his next excuse. Irina's jaw jerked up, her shoulders squared. "No, I have no complaint against the wolves, or the Cullens. You came here today to destroy an immortal child. No immortal child exists. This was my mistake, and I take full responsibility for it. But the Cullens are innocent, and you have no reason to still be here. I'm so sorry," she said to the Cullens, and then she turned her face toward the Volturi witnesses. "There was no crime. There's no valid reason for you to continue here." Caius raised his hand as she spoke, and in it was a strange metal object, carved and ornate. This was a signal. Maeryn smirk grew wider as she watched Irina with much interest. Alec gently wrapped an arm around Maeryn’s waist, holding her back from her enthusiastic behavior. Though he felt the same excitement, years of training taught him to keep his emotions in line. Alec gently kissed the back of her head, calming her down almost immediately.  The response was so fast that we all stared in stunned disbelief while it happened. Before there was time to react, it was over. Three of the Volturi soldiers leaped forward, and Irina was completely obscured by their gray cloaks. In the same instant, a horrible metallic screeching ripped through the clearing. Caius slithered into the center of the gray melee, and the shocking squealing sound exploded into a startling upward shower of sparks and tongues of flame. The soldiers leaped back from the sudden inferno, immediately retaking their places in the guard's perfectly straight line. Caius stood alone beside the blazing remains of Irina, the metal object in his hand still throwing a thick jet of flame into the pyre. With a small clicking sound, the fire shooting from Caius's hand disappeared. A gasp rippled through the mass of witnesses behind the Volturi. The foes were too aghast to make any noise at all. It was one thing to know that death was coming with fierce, unstoppable speed; it was another thing to watch it happen. Maeryn smile grew even further if possible. The foes knew what will happen and how easily their side would soon turn into ashes. The Volturi would once again win, no challenge was great enough. Caius smiled coldly. "Now she has taken full responsibility for her actions." His eyes flashed to the foes front line, touching swiftly on Tanya's and Kate's frozen forms. Caius had never underestimated the ties of a true family. This was the ploy. He had not wanted Irina's complaint; he had wanted her defiance. His excuse to destroy her, to ignite the violence that filled the air like a thick, combustible mist. He had thrown a match. The strained peace of this summit already teetered more precariously than an elephant on a tightrope. Once the fight began, there would be no way to stop it.
It would only escalate until one side was entirely extinct. Their side. Caius knew this. So did Edward.  And so did Maeryn. She felt Alec releasing her waist, yet he still stood closely next her. He crouched down slightly, ready to attack as did Jane. Maeryn followed their movement and also crouched down, her hands infront of her, her energy ready to pulse out of her hands. Ready to take down that pathetic shield Bella created. Thinking her little family had a chance due it. "Stop them!" Edward cried out, jumping to grab Tanya's arm as she lurched forward toward the smiling Caius with a maddened cry of pure rage. She couldn't shake Edward off before Carlisle had his arms locked around her waist. "It's too late to help her," he reasoned urgently as she struggled. "Don't give him what he wants!" Kate was harder to contain. Shrieking wordlessly like Tanya, she broke into the first stride of the attack that would end with everyone's death. Rosalie was closest to her, but before Rosalie could clinch her in a headlock, Kate shocked her so violently that Rosalie crumpled to the ground. Emmett caught Kate's arm and threw her down, then staggered back, his knees giving out. Kate rolled to her feet, and it looked like no one could stop her. Garrett flung himself at her, knocking her to the ground again. He bound his arms around hers, locking his hands around his own wrists. Maeryn saw his body spasm as she shocked him. Maeryn felt quite intrigued by Kate’s gift, and knew she was someone Maeryn had to watch out for. Maeryn would need all her concentration on breaking Bella’s shield, and needed no distraction by being attacked. Garrett’s eyes rolled back in his head, but his hold did not break. "Zafrina," Edward shouted. Kate's eyes went blank and her screams turned to moans. Tanya stopped struggling. "Give me my sight back," Tanya hissed. Desperately, but with all the delicacy I could manage, Bella pulled my shield even tighter against the sparks of her friends, peeling it back carefully from Kate while trying to keep it around Garrett, making it a thin skin between them. And then Garrett was in command of himself again, holding Kate to the snow. "If I let you up, will you knock me down again, Katie?" he whispered. She snarled in response, still thrashing blindly. "Listen to me, Tanya, Kate," Carlisle said in a low but intense whisper. "Vengeance doesn't help her now. Irina wouldn't want you to waste your lives this way. Think about what you're doing. If you attack them, we all die." Tanya's shoulders hunched with grief, and she leaned into Carlisle for support. Kate was finally still. Carlisle and Garrett continued to console the sisters with words too urgent to sound like comfort. However, Edward and everyone else besides Carlisle and Garrett were on their guard again. The heaviest glare came from Caius, staring with enraged disbelief at Kate and Garrett in the snow. Aro was watching the same two, incredulity the strongest emotion on his face. He knew what Kate could do. He had felt her potency through Edward's memories. The Volturi guard no longer stood at disciplined attention - they were crouched forward, waiting to spring the counterstrike the moment the foes attacked. Behind them, forty-three witnesses watched with very different expressions than the ones they'd worn entering the clearing. Confusion had turned to suspicion. The lightning-fast destruction of Irina had shaken them all. Without the immediate attack that Caius had counted on to distract from his rash act, the Volturi witnesses were left questioning exactly what was going on here. Aro glanced back swiftly, his face betraying him with one flash of vexation. His need for an audience had backfired badly. Maeryn heard the two Romanian vampires, Stefan and Vladimir murmur to each other in quiet glee at Aro's discomfort. Maeryn growled slightly. The witnesses where cowards, and once the Volturi had put an end to the Cullens, they would also put an end to the betrayers. Demetri would hunt them until they were extinct, too. Aro was obviously concerned with keeping
his white hat, as the Romanians had put it. Aro touched Caius's shoulder lightly. "Irina has been punished for bearing false witness against this child. Perhaps we should return to the matter at hand?" Caius straightened, and his expression hardened into unreadability. He stared forward, seeing nothing. His face reminded Maeryn, oddly, of a person who'd just learned he'd been demoted. Aro drifted forward, Renata, Felix, and Demetri automatically moving with him. "Just to be thorough," he said, "I'd like to speak with a few of your witnesses. Procedure, you know." He waved a hand dismissively. And when those words had been spoken, Maeryn smirked. Knowing very well that the battle everyone had been longing for, would occur shortly.

TLNRS Mini Reboot
Guys, I did a thing. Sooooooo, a reader asked if sometime I would be able to write a chapter one reboot of TLNRS where the reader asked to be killed instead of punishing Carlisle. And I was all, ‘Sure! Great idea! Not sure when I’ll get to it, but if I come up with something, I’ll let you know!’ yadda yadda yadda. Welp. Here it is.
I actually wrote 2 of them. 2 complete different stories, though the first half is the same in both.
               Uh….sorry, not sorry??
NOT GONNA LIE, THERE ARE SOOO MANY SCENARIOS THIS COULD TAKE: THERE MAY BE MORE OUTCOMES EVENTUALLY??
These are not edited, not even proof read all the way and I honestly wasn’t sure how to end either one since I DO NOT want to make these into full stories since, you know, I already have 2 WIPs.
So, be warned! They may suck.
Buuuuuuuut, they’re written. So without further ado, the first one!
 @kettnerjanea @katsav17 @imyourapocalypse @bethanymccauley @whirlpoolsink @rasberryfon-fon
Volterra, Italy. A walled city in the middle of Italy, you know, the country that's on the opposite continent of America? Yes, that Volterra, Italy. A place you'd never been to in your life.
And yet, here you were. With the Cullen family and your mate. Your mate that you didn't know was your mate and who you actually thought was already happily mated to another. Another vampire. Your mate, Carlisle and Esme, his apparent not-mate vampire friend.
Can you say homewrecker? Ever since you found out that Carlisle was your mate and not Esme's, (the woman who had treated you like another daughter since the day Bella dragged your human self over to their house), you'd been practicing that word. Homewrecker. Homewrecker. Homewrecker.
Carlisle was a great guy...er, vampire, and let’s be honest, he was not only gorgeous, but kind, compassionate, caring, sweet, gentle, remember mentioning gorgeous?, but, he'd been taken! And quite happily for quite some time.
Then you walk in, unprepared and unawares and suddenly, BAM!, no more 'I love you, Esme'. Did you ever feel like a heel, or what?
To make matters worse, assuming they could get worse, you all had been summoned to Volterra. For multiple reasons. Apparently you and Bella being human still was something of a problem and because Carlisle and Esme had marked each other as mates, even though they weren't "true mates", Carlisle was going to be punished. Supposedly, since you were his mate yet he'd marked another and been marked in return, you were the one slighted.
Quite frankly, you felt as if you should be the one getting punished. You'd just destroyed his and Esme's relationship that they'd had for like...decades!
What if you didn't want to be the horrible human being who tore people apart?
A gentle hand on your elbow startled you out of your thoughts and you turned to see Carlisle, looking down at you in concern.
"There is nothing for you to be worried about, Y/N," he said quietly, with a small smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. You'd seen a lot of that recently. The mating pull, as Edward had explained to you, was in effect, making Carlisle super protective, possessive and worried about you.
Which was pretty much a dream come true. Who didn’t want a handsome, sensitive, intelligent and caring man fawning over and providing for them?
But you could see that he wasn't happy about it. He was no longer quite the care-free doctor you’d first met. Now, there was more of a stoop to his shoulders and it weighed heavy on your own heart to know that your mate wasn't content with you. That your mate was actually miserable being with you.
Apparently this 'mating pull' went both ways. Super.
The doors before you were suddenly opened and you were all beckoned into the throne room. You walked in beside Carlisle with Esme, Edward and Bella directly behind. You would rather have been just about anywhere other than here under these circumstances.
Maybe you could just die? Cue mental snort. Okay, so that sounded a bit melodramatic. But...everything would go back to normal then, right? Esme, (whom you'd briefly started to think of as another mother), would get Carlisle back and Carlisle...well, he didn't seem too sold on this whole, 'You’re his mate' thing, so it probably wouldn't be that hard for him to bounce back. Bella would understand since she'd already tried dying multiple times for her loved ones and the rest of the Cullen family weren't incredibly happy with you for stealing their dad away from their mom.... This could work. 'Course, you'd have to make sure Carlisle wouldn't get punished again, but if you made it look like an accident and not that you’d actually died because of this whole mating thing, then he couldn't get into any trouble for it!
You started to think of all the ways it could happen. Your family hadn't spoken to you since you moved to Forks almost four months ago, so they'd be fine. Stuff like this happens all the time. Well, not the whole 'suicide so your mate and his family can be happy like they were before you showed up', but accidents did happen all the time...
A low noise brought you out of your thoughts and you looked around, a bit startled at the...growl?...that you could hear. Glancing over at Carlisle, you saw him looking back at Edward in confusion and worry.
Curiosity peaked, you also turned to look at Eddie and your eyes widened in surprise. He was the one growling and he was....glaring at you? With a dangerous glint to his coal black eyes. You could've sworn they were gold when everyone stepped off the plane. His hunger couldn't be that severe- it’s not like half an hour would suddenly make him ravenous. Besides, all the veggie vamps fed before they boarded the jet to Italy.
So what the hell was his problem?
"Edward?" Carlisle asked quietly, his hand once again taking residence on your elbow. Pulling gently, the golden eyed doctor drew your closer to him.
You had to will yourself not to melt into him. He was only doing this because of the mating pull. He really loved Esme, not you. And soon, he'd be free to love her again.
               Edward's growling suddenly grew louder.
Your eyes widened and all the blood rushed from your face. Well shit. This whole mind reading thing was a serious pain the ass.
Putting on your own scowl and matching glare, you turned further to face Edward.
"Would you get out of my head already?" you demanded. And preferably not tell anyone what you heard since it's really none of your bloody business in the first place, you continued mentally.
Bella was lucky she had some sort of mental block; what happened to privacy and common decency?!
"Edward?" Carlisle asked again and when Edward didn't answer, only kept growling, Carlisle turned to you. "Y/N? What's the matter?"
You turned away from Edward and back to the thrones in front of your procession where the three Volturi kings were seated and staring at you. Really. Floor, just open up and swallow you now.
"Nothing," you muttered to the doctor. "Eddie just needs to learn personal boundaries." The Carlisle you had met before he'd realized the mating pull would've still been concerned, but dropped the subject since you obviously didn't want to talk about it.
This new Carlisle who was forced to play dutiful mate, frowned and drew you into his side tighter before asking, "What were you thinking to make him growl like this?"
You tensed and gave the poor guy a fake, sweet smile.  “If I wanted any of you to know, I wouldn't have thought it, I would've said it out loud."
You internally winced at how…bitchy that sounded, how cold, but you had to distance yourself and fast. This was the first time that Carlisle had really initiated any sort of contact, especially any type of comfort and it was really starting to mess with you. It was obviously expected of him here in Volterra as your Mate, but you knew that if you weren’t here, he wouldn’t be initiating any kind of contact. Or even speaking to you. He was pretty damn good and avoiding and ignoring you.
You’d always been drawn to Carlisle, from the beginning, and this sudden forced possessive and protective side to him was beginning to wear you down. If you weren’t careful, you really would be a homewrecker. Right now, you were trying your hardest to respect his wishes and not fall prey to the Pull. But as soon as you let it get to you, you would truly be the monster they all thought you were.
All you wanted was for him to be happy. Even if it wasn't with you.
Edward's growls suddenly died off and you gave a small smile, thinking he'd finally seen reason with your line of thinking and this was over.
               Boy, were you wrong.
Aro had cleared his throat, focusing the attention on him.
"A very spirited mate you have there, dear friend," was the first thing out of the vampire king's mouth. Carlisle gave a small smile. That once again was a shadow of his former smiles.
"Thank you, Aro. She will certainly keep me on my toes."
You mentally snorted again. Sure. But not for much longer.
Aro suddenly stood and glided down to the group, stopping a few feet away. "My dear friend, I regret having to do this particular ceremony with you, but as is part of our laws and customs, it must be done."
Carlisle inclined his head. "I understand, Aro. And I appreciate your sentiments on the matter."
You felt your throat start to close up at the thought of Carlisle's punishment, whatever it would be, just because he marked and was marked in return by the women he loves. How was that fair?
Your attention was suddenly diverted back to Aro as he took a few steps forward to stand in front of you.
"My dear, if you would step up next to me?" he asked, holding out a hand. You'd heard about Aro's gift and mentally cursed. Great. All your ideas that you hadn't even finished yet, would be heard by yet another mind reader. But maybe there was a way to block certain thoughts? Edward had told Bella and yourself that Aro could hear every thought you'd ever had. Past tense. So maybe if you continued thinking your plans, they wouldn't be able to be seen...?
It was worth a try. Not like it would hurt anything. If it failed, well, he would be able to see anything either way.
So, with a deep breath, and more low growls from Edward, you stepped forward, placing your hand in Aro's.
Surprisingly gentle, the vampire king pulled your away from the half of the Cullen coven and up towards the thrones. You had made it to the base of the stairs leading up to the other two kings when Aro suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, (no pun intended), and swiftly turned to stare at you.
Because that wasn’t intimidating at all.
Judging by the now tense atmosphere in the room, apparently this wasn't part of the normal proceedings.
"Brother?" one of the kings, Marcus perhaps?, asked in a quiet voice. Still staring unblinking at you, Aro didn't answer for a moment.
"Aro?" Carlisle asked, worry prominent in his voice. You tried to smother the wince that crossed your face, couldn’t you do anything right?, but judging by Aro's suddenly sharper gaze, you were pretty sure you failed. Apparently, he'd also read all your thoughts from just a little while ago, so change that fail to an Epic Fail.
When did your life turn into this? Who did you piss off in a past life to deserve this?
"Brother," Aro suddenly asked, seeming to snap out of his stupor and continuing you both up the stairs to his throne, "what do their lines look like?"
Nobody in the room needed to have 'their' clarified and everyone waited with baited breath to see what Marcus would discover.
Seeming to zone out for a few moments, Marcus' eyes suddenly refocused and he answered, "They are strong, brother. But not as strong as other true mates."
All eyes turned to look at you. Edward's brows were drawn into a deep glare and you uncomfortably looked away. The family would either hate you because you were with their 'dad' or hate you because you freed him from your bond. Either way, there was no way to win.
"Hm," Aro murmured thoughtfully, "I wonder if it is because she is human or because of...something else." He threw a significant look to you that you ignored the best you could.
               Edward started growling again.
"Aro," Carlisle's voice growled out, impatient. "What is going on with my mate?"
"I think, my dear friend, that that is a question best left for said mate to answer. However, first, I believe our ceremony should get underway."
Immediately, all the Cullen's stiffened. Only Bella and yourself remained unaware to what exactly that meant.
"Y/N," Aro said suddenly, taking a seat in his throne and gently pulling you to stand beside him, "your mate, Carlisle has marked and been marked in return by another. Now, as a human, you probably do not feel as insulted as a vampire would, for this is one of the worst things that a true mate can do to another. The highest form of cheating our world has."
Carlisle's head bowed down as if under a huge weight and Esme looked from him to you with shiny eyes. Tears? Great, as if you didn't feel awful before...
"As his actual mate," Aro continued when you didn't say anything, "you get to decide how he should be punished."
It was quiet for a moment before you suddenly blinked and snapped your head down to meet Aro’s ruby eyes. "What? Me?"
The vampire king nodded. "Yes, you. You were the one slighted and so, you are the one to demand the compensation. We've seen a few cases of this over the centuries. Some vampires have their mates tortured to teach them a lesson, others have had their mates kill the vampire they mistakenly marked while a few have even had their mates killed."
Your eyes, which had gotten progressively wider now threatened to pop out of your head. Why was everything so violent with these people? You were suddenly even more thankful that you weren’t a vampire... You didn't want to feel the need to have Carlisle do any of those things!
"Since you are human, my guard is at your disposal for whichever method you choose that you cannot fulfill yourself. Of course, you don't have to do any of those options. You are free to choose whatever you wish."
You were silent as you stared at the Cullen's, mind racing to try and find a way that would appease the ceremony but that didn't involve hurting anybody. Especially Carlisle.
It’s not like it was his fault that he found a woman and fell in love with her! Granted, it wasn’t your fault either that your eyes met, but maybe, you could fix it for him? After all, what kind of future could you have with Carlisle if he hated you for taking away his freedom and choice of mate?
"Might I suggest the second option that other slighted mates have used in the past?" Aro spoke up after a few minutes of you trying to figure out what to do.
Your eyes snapped back to his. "The option where you have your mate kill the woman he marked that was not you,” Aro continued with a barely concealed smirk. “I do believe this will solve quite a lot in this case."
You’re not sure where you got the guts to do it, but you glared heatedly down at Aro's smirking face. He knew of your half baked plan to get Carlisle and Esme back together and was just saying that to get a rise out of the Cullen's.
               And boy, did it work.
Bella gasped while Esme's eyes shot to yours. She quickly averted her gaze, though you could see her hands trembling. Edward was looking at you with an unreadable expression and Carlisle... Carlisle looked miserable and heartbroken. He honestly thought...they all honestly thought that you would...
You felt tears sting your eyes. Did they really have so little faith in you? Think so little of you that they thought you would have Carlisle tear apart the women he loves because they had marked each other? Were you really that awful of a person to them? You didn't choose to be his mate! You didn't mean to take him away from anybody!
A stubborn tear broke free and languidly trailed down the side of your face.
Edward's face bore the softest expression you'd ever seen pointed in your direction and you shut your eyes to block him out. You didn't need his pity. Or anybody else’s.
Taking a shaky breath, you drew your shoulders back. You’d made your decision.
You opened your eyes and with as much courage as you could muster, you looked down to meet the expectant eyes of the Vampire King seated in his throne beside you.
“Kill me instead,” you murmured quietly, though you knew that every vampire in the room could hear you if the sudden deafening silence was any indication.
The smirk that had been playing around Aro’s mouth disappeared and he sat up even straighter.
“What was that?” he asked, voice still friendly with faux cheer, but with an undercurrent of disbelief.
You took a deep breath, before repeating even quieter, “I choose to be killed myself.”
You weren’t able to keep eye contact with Aro for very long – those ruby eyes were boring into you and making you uncomfortable and self conscious.
And you didn’t dare look over to the Cullens. You weren’t sure what expressions would be on their faces, but if you saw any relief from Carlisle or Esme that their Problem would soon be taken care of… You just couldn’t see their happiness at your death. It would crush you more than you already were.
A loud snarl suddenly tore through the throne room and you jumped, head snapping towards the Cullens.
               Edward was furious.
Eyes jet black and wild, fangs elongated and rage painted across his face, he truly looked the Vampire he was.
“This is all your fault!” he roared at his sire, spittle flying from his lips as he advanced on Carlisle.
Aro shifted as if to intervene, but surprisingly, the King on the other side of you, Marcus, rose first and was suddenly standing before Carlisle and Esme.
The tension in the room skyrocketed and even Edward quickly backed down in the midst of the fury the brunette king was radiating, instead settling a bit and flashing over to Bella to draw her into his arms and soothe her as she was a bit lost over what was happening and the reason for Edward’s rage.
“Your Bond Mate is wishing for Death,” Marcus growled out, seeming to grow even angrier when Bella gasped, horrified that you would ask for that, “and yet, you stand here, passive and quiet! Bond Mates are truly the most precious thing we have in this eternal life and you would toss yours aside to have her wallow in self doubt and loathing so you can continue a charade that has no future whatsoever!”
Marcus’ hoarse voice had risen at the end and rang through the throne room. You were slack jawed standing by Aro’s throne – this was not the depressed and silent King that Edward had described. He was supposed to not care or pay attention to the goings on in the world.
A quick glance around at the guards standing along the walls showed their own disbelief and wonder at the change in their King.
               What was going on?
Something cold brushed against your hand and you looked down to see Aro’s fingers leaving your hand and then he was on his feet and growling…something that you couldn’t make out.
But judging by the darkening look on Edward’s face and the fact that Carlisle and Esme had blanched, you figured he was telling everyone the thoughts that had been running through your head.
               Lovely.
“I don’t want pity,” you muttered to yourself, pressing the heels of your hands to your eyes to stave off any more tears. “I just…want this to stop.”
Surprisingly, yet another voice answered you and when you looked up, you were shocked to see it was the blonde, angry King, Caius speaking in your direction, while Marcus was still growling lowly at Carlisle and Esme.
“Being angry, and rightfully so, at the atrocities committed by the Cullens in regard to you is not pity. My brother,” he gestured to Marcus, “had a Bonded and lost her. Aro and I have our own Mates whom we love dearly and would die for. To have Carlisle willingly neglect you is insulting, shameful and the height of idiocy.” Here he turned his attention from you to Aro. “I told you, brother, the Cullens are a waste of venom.”
Caius’ ruby eyes bored into Edward and he gave a slight smirk. “Well, most of them anyhow.”
“Aro,” Carlisle finally spoke up, voice soft and hesitant and you held back a shudder as best you could. The growls you could hear ratcheted up a notch and you really couldn’t decide if it was comforting or scary to have more than one vampire pissed for your sake.
“My dear friend,” Aro interrupted Carlisle before he could say anything else, “when I heard of what had happened, with you finding your mate, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. After all, you have been alone for many years, and even though Marcus had informed you of your Bonded lines, I thought that maybe, you had just…lost patience. A remarkable feat for you, but it has been known to happen to other vampires, though none have had your control and restraint.”
You felt like the air had been punched out of your lungs – Carlisle knew that he had a Mate? He knew that you were coming? Maybe not when you were going to show up or who exactly you were, (though Alice should have seen you, right?) but…he knew he had a mate? And that Esme wasn’t it? You felt your legs start to shake and a few more tears spilled down your cheeks. He…he hadn’t even tried to give you a chance. He’d already made up his mind about his mate before he’d even met you!
Did…did Alice tell him about you? Did he decide that you weren’t worth it? Did you know how messed up you were, how you hadn’t always made the best choices, and just…didn’t want to deal with your shortcomings and failures? Did he not think you worthy enough of him?
Cold hands were suddenly guiding you down into what felt like a throne, but you were too numb to care who or where, instead trying to figure out where you went wrong and how this could happen to you. You never wanted this to begin with, but for Carlisle to know and still not care… It’s not like having a mate would have blindsided him - He was expecting it!
“But,” Aro had continued, voice steely and it would have frightened you had you been paying more attention, “to now have the full story, to know that you have been neglecting and blaming your Intended, that your – what do you call them, family? – has been harassing and abusing your Mate, pushing her to contemplate suicide and Death by our hands and you did nothing… Well, I do believe that it is time for the Volturi to step in and select your punishment.”
Esme’s gasp pulled you out of your thoughts and you looked up to see her and Carlisle looking at you, their eyes pleading.
“Y/N,” Carlisle suddenly said shakily, “If you can find it in your heart-“
When you flinched at his begging tone, deafening roars sounded out.
Carlisle was suddenly prone on the floor, a snarling Aro on top of him while Esme was already half dismembered by a furious Marcus.
Edward had flashed away with Bella, coming to stand next to you, but his growling was still one of the loudest in the room.
“How dare you?!” Aro thundered, eyes black as pitch and his entire being radiating menace and danger. “You throw your Bond in your Intended’s face until you feel that she can save you? We have been far too lenient with you, Cullen sire and it has cost her dearly. Let me be clear: there will be no saving you and Esme now.”
You swallowed as Marcus continued to tear Esme apart and Aro was poised over one of Carlisle’s limbs.
“Wait,” you said shakily, feeling drained yet determined. This…was not what you had in mind. Carlisle and Esme weren’t supposed to get hurt! You were the one who was going to disappear forever so they could be together.
You couldn’t have their deaths or pain on your conscience!
“They don’t deserve you,” Edward said quietly from beside you, suddenly kneeling by the throne in which you sat. “They don’t deserve any of your kindness or your sacrifice. They have made their decision and it wasn’t the right one. Now they have to pay the price for it.”
“How can following your heart be wrong?” you whispered, another tear slipping down your face. For all his faults and horrible attitude to you, you were drawn to Carlisle and you just didn’t want him hurt or upset. How would torturing or killing him and Esme be the right thing to do? Just because he went with his heart and not with the Bond?
“That Cullen is not following his heart,” Caius snorted from the other side of the throne and you jerked your head over to look at him. “He is simply too muddled, idiotic and soft to think like a proper vampire. Once Bond Mates’ eyes meet, there is no other – for either one of them. You feel a pull towards him, correct?”
You nodded, a bit ashamed that you felt something towards Carlisle while he obviously felt nothing towards you.
“If you, as a human, feel the Pull, what do you think he would feel, as a vampire? As much as he may deny it, and as much as it pains me to say it, Carlisle is a vampire. He feels the Pull the same way Aro and myself do, as Marcus did when Didyme was alive. There is no other for him – there never will be another. Him clinging to his relationship with Esme is nothing more than stubbornness and malice at this point, designed to not only hurt you who would dare to remind him that he is prey to the same vices as the rest of the Vampire world, but also in a last ditch effort to deny that which he is. Death would be a kindness to him, at this point. He is obviously not happy being a vampire and cannot be expected to help create anyone else’s happiness either.”
You knew you were gaping a bit at the blonde next to you, but seriously, how could you not? The King that Hates Humans just basically gave you a reassuring pep talk?
               …What?
A loud screeching noise jerked your attention back to the other two Kings and Carlisle and Esme, the latter completely dismembered.
“Y/N!” Carlisle tried once more, golden eyes large, frightened and locked on your own, but Aro was quick to wrench his head from his shoulders.
“Quite enough of that, I think,” the telepathic mind reader said nonchalantly, seeming back to his friendly and flamboyant personality.
How many personalities did he have, exactly?
Within moments, the rest of Carlisle followed suit; arms and legs yanked out of sockets and feet and hands separated from ankles and wrists.
Part of you wanted to look away – they were destroying your Mate and his Marked in front of you! – but a larger part of you felt…vindicated.
“As you should,” Edward said darkly from beside you, still cradling Bella to him as she watched on as well, brown eyes almost greedily taking in the destruction of the two Cullen leaders.
“You have done no wrong, Y/N,” Edward continued, “and the fact that you wished for death…” He trailed off, closing his eyes that were once again black and leaning down to inhale Bella’s scent in an obvious effort to calm himself.
“It is beyond despicable,” Caius grunted, heading back to his throne as Marcus and Aro regally ascended back up the stairs to the throne. A carelessly waved hand had the guards suddenly moving to dispose of the remains of Carlisle and Esme – permanently if the muttered remark about ‘matches’ gave any indication. They would not be leaving this castle again.
Aro stopped in front of his throne, the one that you were currently occupying and you suddenly straightened, moving to stand and remove yourself from his seat.
Another carelessly waved hand had you settling gingerly back down as Aro shocked you once again by taking a seat on the top step in front of you.
“Now that that…unfortunate business is taken care of,” he began with a large smile and childish-like glee, “it is time to get to know one another a bit better!”
You blinked once. Twice. Three times.
               “What?”
Edward had also taken a seat, placing himself beside the throne with Bella pulled into his lap.
“Aro, perhaps now is not the best time,” he suggested quietly, casting you a look that had your hackles raising a bit.
Damn mind readers. Yes, you were human and yes, you had literally just asked to be killed not twenty minutes ago, but you weren’t fragile!
“What on earth do you need to know that you haven’t already read in my mind?” you asked, beyond confused as to why one of the most powerful vampires in the world would want anything to do with you now that you’d pretty much made him kill one of his oldest friends.
Edward thew a growl in your direction that had Aro impatiently holding out a hand to read Edward’s mind.
And then Aro was growling softly at you.
“You did not make me do anything, Y/N,” he said firmly, eyes narrowing. “What Carlisle did was inexcusable. And rest assured, when the rest of his Coven is destroyed as well, that too, will not be your fault.”
You blanched at the easy way in which he talked about destroying Carlisle’s entire family.
“What?! Why are they being destroyed?”
All the vampires left in the room, even the few guards remaining, gave you a disbelieving look.
You blushed. Okay, that was a pretty stupid question considering that they were just as bad, if not worse, than Carlisle. But still…a whole coven destroyed because of you?
You slunk down in the throne a bit, feeling like the weight of the world was on your shoulders.
Why couldn’t you have just had a happy ending? No deaths, no dismemberment, no misery? Just…happiness?
“Because my sire was an idiot,” Edward said quietly to you, eyes once again a bright golden and focused on you. “This is in no way your fault, Y/N. You just had…a run of bad luck.”
Your snort was echoed by one from Caius.
“All of your coven mates fall under the description of ‘bad luck’,” the blonde mocked.
“Why do you despise the Cullens?” Bella asked quietly from Edwards lap.
To your surprise, Caius not only answered but gave her his undivided attention.
“No real vampire would neglect who they are fundamentally. They wouldn’t feed off of animals, they wouldn’t feel shame for being who they are and they certainly wouldn’t neglect one of the very basic instincts of all vampires: Bond Mates.”
“But…why is it bad that some vampires drink from animals? If it makes their life easier?” Bella asked, voice a little stronger now that the King was actually answering her.
“It’s not the actual animal drinking that’s the problem,” Caius said darkly, “it’s the reason behind it. These ‘vegetarian’ vampires are ashamed to be what they are. They look down on those that have different feeding styles because they feel they are monsters. There are a lot of vampires that prey off of the scum of your human societies – the murders, molesters, rapists, thieves. And yet, they are villainized by those too weak to keep themselves from slaughtering Innocents when they are overwhelmed by scents because they are too used to barely scraping by on animals. There is no shame in being a vampire. Even those as noble as Carlisle have faults that can be greater than those they look down on.”
You stole a glance at Edward, finding him looking thoughtful at Caius’ explanation, rather than defensive or angry. Bella too.
You gave a small smile, feeling your adoration for the two grow. They had been so kind to you, your rocks during all of this. You really could never repay them.
“And you don’t have to,” Edward said quietly and you gave a watery laugh.
               Damn mind readers.
Maybe this would be okay, you not having a Mate anymore. Perhaps there would be someone else out there for you. Someone you could actually have love you in return?
“Perhaps,” Aro said suddenly, and you saw his hand drop from Edward’s once again, “we can keep you here in Volterra for awhile. Make sure there are no lasting side effects from your Mate’s…sudden demise. And perhaps we can see about finding you someone who can show you what a True Mate should be like, hm?”
You looked at Aro in confusion.
The black haired monarch gave a serene smile and leaned forward.
“Tell me, my dear. Have you ever heard of a vampire named Garrett?”

Mr. I want suck your blood - Pt 4
Warning: Mentions of violence and Swearing
Word count: 2,451
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In stories, Soulmates were meant to be the real deal. They were forever. They were two individuals who were brought together by the universe so their lives finally made perfect sense.
You'd never heard of Soulmates ‘Taking a break’ or ‘Splitting up,’ it wasn't something that happened. That’s not what happened in the stories.
Thats just the thing though. Life isn't a story. Life’s a bitch.
Y/N POV
It had been 1 Hour 19 minutes and 45 seconds since Carlisle shattered your world. 1 Hour, 22 minutes and 23 seconds since you had ripped out your IV line and stormed out of the Cullen house. 1 Hour, 28 minutes and 15 seconds, since Carlisle Cullen, your SOULMATE, decided to call it quits.
Carlisle’s words were still ringing in your ears. “It’s safer this way.” or “Now you can live a normal human life.” You felt numb.
-1 Hour, 19 minutes and 45 seconds ago-
You looked up as you saw Carlisle standing in the wooden door frame. You smiled and placed a hand on your fast beating heart relieved to see him unscathed. Bella had swiftly exited the room. It was just the two of you now. You could tell straight away that something was wrong. Your heart started racing again.
You sat there and listened, as Carlisle took your hand and proceeded to shatter your world. He’d decided that being together, it was too dangerous. He couldn't put you in danger again, couldn’t watch you bleed in his arms again. You both argued. It was his over protective nature, that was the cause of this.
“What about Bella and Edward? She’s still human?!” Apparently it was an invalid argument. Invalid my ass. He wouldn't budge. He thought some time apart would be for the best, even if saying it did secretly pain him.
You were angry, so angry that you ripped out your own IV, not without gagging of course. The screaming and arguing drew the attention of the rest of the Cullen household. Bella was trying to calm you down and stop your arm from bleeding, while Edward and Esme were talking to Carlisle.
You didn't care anymore. How dare he. How could he do this to you? You didn't ask for this life. You'd been dragged into it head first. You'd accepted him for all he was. Before all of this you WERE a normal teenager, with normal teenage problems!
You didn't want normal anymore. You wanted Carlisle, the Volturi, wolves and blood singers. You wanted it all, but just like that, he took it away.
You hadn't wasted any time running through the house, past Alice, Rose and Jasper and to your car. You say run, more like fast walked, your legs were still jelly from lying in bed the last couple of days. Alice had tried to stop you on the way out but Jasper told her to let you go, he could feel the pain and anger radiating of you in waves.
The first thing you did when you got to your car was check your glove box for cigarettes. You got in and slammed the door, you could see Carlisle fighting to try and get passed Edward and Emmett but they wouldn't let him out. You looked over to see Bella running toward your car. You waited. She jumped in the passenger side and neither of you spoke a word.  You didn't have to. You started the engine and it came to life with a roar, you peeled out of the Cullen’s drive way with tears streaming down your face and a cigarette between your lips. You fucking hated Forks.
Bella had made you pull over halfway home, scared the tears were clouding your vision. She was probably right, the road ahead did look quite blurry. You traded places and carried on towards home. She was talking to you but you weren't really listening, just watching the trees speed past in a blur, you were sure you could see other objects moving beside you through the trees just as fast, but blinked and they were gone.
-2 weeks later-
Grand Piano by Nicki Minaj blared through the speakers on repeat, you sat staring blankly at your sketchpad, no inspiration, no drive.. nothing. It had been like this for two weeks. Bella had apparently been the same, but you just couldn't shake it. You'd shut yourself off from everyone. Only coming out of your room to get food and use the bathroom. You felt numb.
You could tell your Mom and Charlie were starting to worry. They'd tried to talk to you, find out whats wrong. All they knew is someone broke your heart bad. You'd started having nightmares the first night you were without Carlisle. They felt like more than nightmares though, so vivid, almost like premonitions. You'd wake up still screaming in a cold sweat clutching your chest and crying. Crying for everything you lost when Carlisle let you go. You'd never been in love before and if it felt like this then you never wanted to be again. You didn't think you could love again.
You were spaced out, the music was still playing in the background but your mind was somewhere else, another thing that had been happening since the accident. You just went places, like you were daydreaming, lost in a trance. This time was different though. It was if you were actually there, watching things unfold, only when you came to you were in your bedroom, your paints scattered everywhere, your sketchbook now covered in imagery. You gasped and flew back from your desk, the page awash with shades of vibrant red and black. You gagged. Blood….. and a symbol, it was an emblem of some sort. You shook your head and closed the book on the now dry paints.
What the fuck.
It happened a few more times after that. The spacing out, coming back to earth having drawn on something or once, even scratched symbols into your desk. You'd practically stopped sleeping. Too many thoughts in your head. Even Bella was getting worried, she knew what it was like to spiral and you were doing it at 100mph. She’d suggested talking to Carlisle but you shouted at her for even bringing him up. He left you and hadn't made any attempt to contact or see you. Why give him the satisfaction.
You'd decided enough was enough. You had to start living your life again, or at least thats what you tried to tell yourself. Today you were going to see Seth. You’d become quite close friends with Seth since getting involved in the whole supernatural side of life but you'd been shutting him out for weeks, he knew what had happened with Mr I want to suck you blood, but he didn't ask questions, which you were grateful for. You thought it would do you some good to get outside and breath in the fresh air. You couldn't wallow in self pity any longer.
It felt weird to be in normal clothes rather than ratty old pyjamas. You parked up, jumping out of your car, slinging your backpack over your shoulder. You had brought your sketchbook with you, you didn't know who to talk to about these things, so you were going to show one to Seth, just to see if he recognised anything.
You couldn't help but breath deeply as the air floated off the salty sea and toward your face. You smiled as you watched Seth running down the beach. His boyish grin was charming and his smile grew as he got closer to you. He wrapped you in a hug and you hugged back desperate for a bit of normalcy.
“Hey Seth,” You grinned, thankful for a bit of human, well in this case werewolf, connection. Yeah you had Bella.. and Alice had tried to stop by from time to time, but at the minute they were just a constant reminder of him….
“Y/N! I missed you, things have been so strange without seeing you around ya know!” You bumped his shoulder as you walked down the beach. It had been strange. You'd moved to Forks, got involved with Vamps and the supernatural and in all this time you'd never had any normal time to yourself, or with a friend.
“I’m sorry I’ve been so distant, you know the whole…. thing…” He just nodded his head. You didn't have to explain, he was just happy you were there now.
You'd spent hours just walking and talking on the beach. While walking you had bumped into some of the others as well, Sam, Paul…. You got along with them too, but they had never agreed with your relationship. They seemed somewhat more comfortable around you now. Catching up was good, you felt a lot lighter when you walked, your heart a little less heavy, he was still in the back of your mind though, as much as you tried to think about anything else.
There was an abandoned fire pit a little further up from where you'd been talking with the others, logs surrounded the ashy mound, placed out like small earthy benches. You'd been collecting odd pieces of wood on the way, expecting to find it there. Yourself and Seth pilled the kindling high and he started a fire, he didn't really need to because of his heat, but it was still fun. As Seth continued the fire you reached around and grabbed your leather backpack, opening the zip and fishing inside for your paint covered sketchbook. He came to sit beside you as you started flicking through the pages. You tried to glance at him from the corner of your eye to read his expressions.
“Y/N, these are pretty amazing, and… somewhat scary…” He looked at the book and then back at you. “What are they?” His finger traced the images and the symbols.
You shook your head and flicked through the pages more rapidly. “I don't know S, I…if I tell you something you have to promise you wont tell anyone, not even Sam, not even Jake….” You gulped and looked up at him. He looked confused. You faltered a little, getting nervous you shut your book and started to shove it in your bag. “This was stupid, I should go…” You stood up trying to leave but Seth grabbed your hand.
“I wont tell, you can trust me I promise.” You relaxed, still hesitant, you sat back down. You took the sketchbook back out and went to the first page, tracing the symbols and images, remembering how clearly you had seen them in your mind.
“I drew these. But I didn’t, at the same time.” Seth just looked even more confused now. “I think…. I think something happened to me when I was bitten S…. Something I cant explain. This symbol, I drew this, sat at my desk, one minute the sky outside was light, the next thing I knew it was dark, and the once blank page was covered in all these drawings!” You flicked through the book and sighed placing your head in your hands. He probably thought you were crazy. You sure felt crazy.
You felt his hand rest on your back as you hunched over sighing. “Y/N I’m a wolf, The Cullen’s are Vampires… crazier things have happened, i’ve just never heard of this crazy happening yet….”
You peaked at him from your hands. “Do you know what any of the symbols mean? I see them in my dreams as well, it’s like i’m watching a movie in my head, it’s like I'm there but no one can hear me or see me.. It feels so real.” You sit up, flicking through the pages, before you can turn to the next, Seth’s hand comes flying down stopping the process as he points to one of the symbols.
“Y/N, I’ve seen that symbol before… I think it’s something to do with the cold ones.. the Volturi to be exact.” You groan. This cant be fucking happening. Not only were you dumped now you were having freaky Volturi dreams as well? You searched in your bag for your cigarettes, you held the packet out to Seth and he surprisingly took one. You grinned.
“Wow Sethy never took you for the rebel type.” He ruffled your hair and you shoved him. “Seriously though what am I going to do, this shouldn't be happening i’m human, I didn't turn, Carlisle made sure of that.” You couldn't hide the bitter tone in your voice.
“I don’t know what it means Y/N, but I promise we will figure it out.. cant you talk to Cull…” You glared at him before he could finish his sentence. “Never mind, stupid idea, ignore me.” You laughed and you both carried on looking through the book. What the hell did this mean?
It was late now, Seth walked you to your car, his body still close to keep you warm, the sea breeze now icy cold on your skin. You sighed, part of you didn't want to leave, it was the first kind of normal you'd felt in a really long time, even before coming to Forks. Life in your old place had been really hard, You didn't fit in anywhere, you could count your friends on one hand and you had a strange relationship with your bio dad. You thought things would get easier, Forks had the smallest population and yet you managed to find yourself smack bang in the middle of all this drama, you'd thank Bella for that later. You thought it would be easier living here, maybe you were wrong.
You turned, looking at Seth as you reached your car, you were about to tell him you'd had a nice time, ask him if he wanted to hang out again soon, but you couldn't speak. The waves sounded louder, the air around you felt thicker and you couldn't breath. You could hear Seth’s muffled voice in the background somewhere and a pair of arms shaking you but in your head you were somewhere else entirely.
Cloaks of black floating across the white pearlescent snow, rivers of red blood flowing all around. Wicked eyes staring into yours, and then pain.
You screamed and grabbed your head, it felt like someone had jabbed it with a white hot poker. Images flashed before your eyes, Volturi, Snow, Red, Carlisle. You gagged, so much blood, so much pain. Then, nothing.
Your mind went dark, no images now, no sound, just the sharp ache as you feel your body shut down and hit the solid ground, then the coldness surrounded you.

a/n: tag yourself i’m jin ( @jungkooksbish when things have changed since you’ve last read this)
Tumblr media
When you walk out of the bathroom, it's with a clean body and a clear head, and you feel much lighter because of it (you've lost blood, but whether you've lost any weight is still debatable).  Seokjin is still knocked out on the couch, but Jeongguk, however, is nowhere to be seen.
Worry sparks in your heart.  Where could he possibly be?
And then you see it - there's a rather large lump under your blanket.  You laugh softly when you gently lift the covers to find your favorite vampire, asleep and snuggled against your pillow.  At least you assume he's asleep - he's got his eyes closed, but like he told you before, he doesn't actually need any sleep.
He deserves a rest - he and Jin both do, after tirelessly taking care of an unconscious you for the past few days.  You sit down next to him, careful not to wake him up.  In sleep, he looks so young, so innocent.  He's drooling all over your pillow too.
But that's alright - the sight of this peaceful Jeongguk makes your heart beat a little faster, and you feel all warm inside.  You really are in love with him, aren't you? Impulsively, you lean down and kiss his forehead.
Jeongguk's eyes snap open, but you hover over him, shamelessly ignoring the fierce blush lighting your cheeks.  He smiles mischievously.  "Y/N, have you been watching me sleep?" The sound of your heartbeat accelerating is more than enough of an answer for him.  "Next time, you could be a little more subtle when you pull an Edward Cullen, yeah?"
You laugh.  "Does that make you Bella?"
He snorts, but the smile stays on his face.  "I don't like Twilight, but if it makes you happy then I'll do it."
"You make me happy," you declare, "even if Twilight sucks."
Jeongguk nods, expression serious, but twinkle in his eyes betray the whole act.  "That was so cheesy, but I'll take it.  I'll take everything you have to give me, and I'll give you back twice as much."
You coo at him.  "You're so cute, Gukkie." He pouts.  "I'm older than you, Y/N.  You can't call em cute." You pat his head fondly.  "Whatever you say, babe."
Jeongguk sits up.  "Actually, uh," the vampire says, fidgeting nervously.  "can I kiss you now?"
You nod.  "Thought you'd never ask."
He beams.  "Good!"
You squeal as he pulls the covers over you, then his lips are on yours, soft but firm and better than anything you've ever dreamed of.  His mouth slots perfectly against yours, bodies melding together like he's a part of you that you've been missing your whole life but never realized.  He kisses you hungrily, like he's a man lost in a desert and you're a life-saving oasis, real and right there for him to take.  It's an entirely new side of him that you're seeing - or rather, tasting - and so different from the shy Jeongguk who stammers and stumbles over his words whenever you tease him.
You like it, this new side of him.  You'll love anything he has to offer you.
His hands roam your body, exploring every inch of your skin that's available to him, familiarizing himself with every curve and every edge.  You pull away with a whimper of a gasp when one hand slips under your shirt, freezing cold fingers against burning hot skin.
"Guk," you tell him breathlessly, "I need to breathe, remember?" You wonder if he's had any relationships before - his lips are one of the best pairs you've ever had the pleasure of kissing.  Your ex when you were sixteen was a total disaster - the first time you two kissed, he stuck his tongue in your mouth, and it took you less than a week to break up with him.  It took you months to get him to stop contacting you.
"Sorry," the vampire says, not looking sorry at all.  "I guess I got a little carried away." He notices the wrinkle of your nose.  "Sorry if that was bad, I've never kissed anyone before-"
Your eyes widen a little.  You couldn't feel any inexperience from that at all.  "It's not you, I'm just thinking about something else. You're really good at this." He looks good, with kiss-bruised lips and a minor bedhead.  He smells nice, too.  Like Jin's shampoo, you think.
"What are you thinking about?" He still hovers over you, propping himself up with an arm and toying with your hair with the other.
You shudder.  "My ex."
He frowns, eyes flashing possessively.  "Time to change that."
Before you get the chance to take another breath, he's claiming your lips again, pinning you down with his body and caging you against your own bed with his strong arms.  He presses himself against you almost desperately, and you take the chance to return the favor.  You slide a hand under his shirt, only to be greeted with cold skin, and ooooh, a six pack!
His abs are rock-hard, and you're delighted to feel something else rock-hard poking into your thigh.  The vampire shamelessly ignores it, sighing into your mouth when you squeeze his ass with a hand.
Something sharp pricks your lower lip, and your mouth involuntarily opens. You can feel blood on your tongue, and something wet and slippery slides into your mouth.  Of course: only Jeongguk would use his vampire biology to French kiss you.  You don't complain - it doesn't feel gross, but your train of thought disappeared the second he started kissing you anyway.
You're interrupted by a high pitched, drawn out scream.
Jeongguk breaks away, albeit a little reluctantly.
Seokjin is making grabby hands at the door - the witch has his eyes squeezed shut, and he can't see that he's still got a few steps to go before he can reach the door handle.  "Seriously, you guys?" He wails, traumatized.  "I just woke up, and you're making out? I can't even leave, 'cause this is also my apartment! Now I need to find some holy water to bleach my eyes out.  Y/N, you owe me a life's supply of fried chicken.  Get me that new Mario figurine while you're at it!"
He stumbles forward and grabs the door handle.  "Use protection!" And he's gone, the door slamming shut behind him.
Jeongguk grins, completely unabashed.  "Oops."
"I don't think I'm ready for that yet," you tell him.  "Not now, but maybe later."
Jeongguk smiles softly, reverting to 'sweet vampire boy' mode.  "That's alright, Y/N.  We've got plenty of time." He presses a chaste kiss to your forehead before grinning impishly.  "Definitely later." You like the way he says 'we' instead of 'you' or 'I'.  He's a keeper, that one, advises a voice in your head.  He'll be good for you, and you him.
"We've got time," you echo with a smile, "I like the sound of that."
"I think you'd like the sound of something else more." His tone is suggestive.
"Oh? What would that be?"
He grins.  "Me calling you my girlfriend, of course." Your eyes go wide.  "Well, only if you don't mind- do you want to be my girlfriend?"
You laugh.  "Babe, I think you already know the answer to that."
He shrugs.  "I guess we're dating now, lovely girlfriend of mine- hnng!"
This time, you're the one to pull him into a kiss, yanking him down by the front of his shirt.
This time, it's a slow kiss, but no less passionate.  Kissing Jeongguk is nice, you think as he cuddles you under the covers.  His lips are kiss-bruised, shiny with spit, and he's marked you as his with a smattering of teeth-shaped bruises scattered across your throat.  He holds you like he has the world in his hands.
(When afternoon comes, Jin comes in to check up on you, finally deeming it safe to enter and exit mentally unharmed.  He finds you and Jeongguk curled up under the covers together, wrapped in each other's arms.
Both of you look happy together - for once, you are asleep of your own free will and not out of sheer exhaustion, and Jeongguk looks exactly the same as he did all those years ago when they were neighbors, only Jeongguk is undead and much paler than he was before.
It gives him an odd feeling of nostalgia - it reminds him of hot summer afternoons, a younger Jin watching over Taehyung and Jeongguk as they played until they fell asleep cuddled on the couch.  He wonders how Jeongguk would react if he know of Taehyung's current state: it wasn't a shameful secret, per se, but it was one with a heavy burden, one Jin would rather shoulder alone.
When he leaves, the door clicks behind him, a fond smile on his lips.  Even if he never finds the right one for him, he's glad two of his best friends have found safety and comfort in each other.  They're happy, so he'll be happy for them.)

hot take from some rando on the internet but i feel like twilight would have been much better if:
-more of a focus on found family, less on romance. like you can keep the romance in as long as it’s healthy.
it could be between her and one of the vampires, as long as it’s after she meets them and becomes part of the group. some sort of lgbt rep would be good too, and we all think bella and alice had something going on!! and it could be interesting with the vamps all being super old to have some sort of lgbt rep with them. OR. it could be between her and jacob and it could be a cool way to connect her found family w the vamps and her werewolf family. and indigenous issues should actually be covered!! theres so much missed opportunity!!
also. no love triangle. we’ve had enough love triangles to know that they’re shitty and no healthy relationships are going to have shitty love triangles like that. she can be attracted to multiple people and have to figure out her feelings but dammit no flip flopping between partners and no resolving the love triangle with whatever the hell that was
-the heavy focus on like aesthetics and vibes is carried through all the series. the first movie was so cool, and i think the blue filter made it more relatable somehow? we don’t need professional lighting and sophisticated setups. the movies should have been consistent and i think a big part of the appeal of the first movie’s aesthetics was that it felt more like real life than the huge productions of the later movies. bella was just Some Girl in the first movie, didn’t have professional makeup or whatever, and that should continue dammit.
-fuck it. no more vegetarian vampires. no weird eye color shit. go full angsty goth or go home. if you want to keep it #ethical then have them all live off carlisle’s hoarded blood bags, OR have them subtly steal blood from hospital patients and feel like shit for it. or add in a few humans who are in on it and want to help.
-bella should be an art kid. maybe she’s drawn to the vampires because of the way they look but as like an art inspiration thing. and she’s caught drawing them. maybe make her suck at art in the technical sense but like she’s got the vibes down or something, she has an interesting take on art, and gets encouraged to pursue art by her vampire found family who pose for portraits to help her. maybe use their hoarded money to send her to art school idk
-the vampire family shouldn’t have this like insane wealth if they’re supposed to be good people. what the fuck. either they dont have much money in the first place because theyre supposed to be KEEPING A LOW PROFILE or they can donate the majority of their money anonymously to charities or something.
-rewrite jasper for the love of god. maybe the mood manipulation power could come into play in a different historical period. or just keep him in that time but don’t make him a fucking confederate. rewrite rosalie to be nice, or keep her conflicted but make her less shallow. she should have had more character development rather than like, she’s shallow and mean and always has been.
-maybe keep the conflict about turning bella into a vampire but make it a concern of all or most of the cullens instead of just like. edward hates himself and is making it bella’s problem and causing all the conflicts that cause the series to go on for four books. fuck it, bella should wait to be a vampire and give human life more of a chance before making decisions. maybe add in more cons to being a vampire so it’s more of an actual decision.
anyway i can keep going but this is already a lot of text. send post.

AN: Too all my loyal readers and followers. Thank you. Enjoy your present for hitting 211 followers!
Sitting on the porch, the rain falls through the trees around the house, inside my family is discussing the “Not-Quite-A-Request-But-Not-Quite-An-Order” they’ve gotten via Bella, about me from Sam. I managed to escape outside, because after asking if my opinion on the matter was a hand, I was told it was not, and Jasper noticed my anger faster, thanks to his ability, and managed to distract them so that I could make my escape. Tucking my blonde locks with blue tips behind my ear, I take a deep breath of the crisp Forks air, my blue eyes trailing over the line of the forest, before letting out a sigh, knowing that Alice and Edward would be able to stop me before I made one step of the wood of the porch. “’Ro?” Rosalie calls from behind me, I turn to see her sticking her head out the front door, hand on the handle, and I let out a sigh, seeing the perturbed look on her face.
“Coming.” I sigh, pressing off the banister to turn on my peep toe shoes, stalking back inside as gracefully as I can, though I know that compared to a family of vampires, I’m probably as graceful as a duck waddling across a broken bridge, or a duck trying to waddle in quicksand. Even in style, I can’t compare to them, even though Alice and Rosalie dress me, but compared to everyone in my family, it’s like I’m wearing a trashbag with a duct-tape belt, and shoes made of old mildew newspapers. Walking into the living room, I notice that the entire room is practically split it two, Carlisle, Esme, Alice, and Bella are on one side of the room, Edward, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie are on the other side of the room, causing me to stumble to a stop in surprise. It’s rare to see Edward and Bella openly opposing, let alone Alice and Jasper. “Okay, what is going on here?”
“They’re sending you to stay with those... mongrels.” Rosalie snarls.
“For a few days,” Carlisle is quick to explain when my head snaps over to look at him, aghast at the idea. “to keep the peace, Sam wants to make sure you’re truly human, and he wishes to see how living with us for most of your life has affected you.”
“Do I not get a say in this? I am almost 18 years old!” I shout in annoyance, causing Carlisle to sigh, and Esme steps up to set a gentle hand on my arm.
“Aurora, my little lily, listen... We are worried about your safety, that is why we must send you to them. If you care about us, your family, you will go.” Esme says carefully, her warm tawny orbs drawn to mine.
“I-” I bite my lip. “Yes mamma.” I finally relent.
“That’s my good figlia (daughter).” Esme grasps my chin lovingly, before pressing a kiss to my cheek. “Now, be a good ragazza (girl) and go pack, Bella will be dropping you off in twenty minutes.” I sigh as I tromp upstairs to my room, grabbing a random bag from my closest, and throwing a bunch of my usual clothes into it, along with a fancy dress or two, and two pairs of shoes with my change of sweat pants and tank top. Next, my laptop, then a few notebooks and pencils, my phone charge, computer charger, my wallet full of money and identification cards, before I finally zip the duffel bag up. Sticking my phone in my pocket, I grab my MP3 player and headphones, blasting my slipknot as I put on my headphones, I sling my bag over my shoulder, and stomp down stairs, giving quick good byes before, I climb into Bella’s rattling death trap. I glare out the window the entire way towards the Reservation, watching the green and brown of the trees pass me by, before very long, we’re pulling up outside an old house. It’s an all brown two story house with a porch and a screen door that leads directly into the kitchen, the smell of baked goods waft out as I slam the screeching door of Bella’s truck shut, and four of the seven boys, including Jacob Black, and two girls all come piling out of the house.
“Bella!” One woman, with scars along the right side of her face, greets my brother’s girlfriend with a warm hug, and a half smile half grimace, the skin around her scars tugs firm, making my nerves in my stomach tighten even more about this.
“Hey Emily.” Bella gives the woman, Emily, a hug in return, before they turn towards me. “This is Aurora Hale.”
“So,” Emily smiles at me. “You’re the Cullens’ special girl?”
“Something like that.” I answer with a shrug, my headphones hanging loose around my neck.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Emily says, holding out her hand for me, which I shake as the guys and other girl continue to observe me from the side.
 “Hey brat.”
“Jake.” I answer shortly. “I’m older than you.”
 “Still shorter.”
“Almost everyone is.” I answer, and he smiles at me, stepping forward to wrap me in a hug, surprising his packmates.
“So this is Quil and Embry, Seth and his sister Leah.” Jacob introduces, pointing to each one, and I offer my hand to them each, Leah only sneers, and smacks my hand away causing me to raise an eyebrow, setting my jaw as I glare at her, crossing my arms as I cock a hip.
“Pah-lease, hon, I grew up with three vampire women, I can throw shade better than any other person by now.” I state, causing her to gape at me a bit. Quil and Embry burst out laughing, shutting up only when Leah glares at them, then turns on her heels, stomping off through the woods, and Jake sighs.
“You’ll get used to that real quick.” He states, causing me to roll my eyes.
“Why don’t you come inside, and have a snack. Bella, staying?” Emily offers as starts up the steps to the door. “Sam, Jared, and Paul will be back soon.”
“Nah, I think I’ll head back. Gotta cook Charlie dinner, otherwise he’ll order a pizza again.” Bella answers.
“See ya, Bella.” The boys all call, running inside.
“Bye Bella, come back soon.” Emily calls, and Jacob walks over to her as I watch them for a second, before starting into the house. “So, Aurora-”
“Ro.” I interrupt, purely by habit.
“What?” Emily asks, tilting her head at me as she lifts some flour from the bag on the counter, and sprinkles it across the table.
“Ro. Aurora is such a girly name, everyone just calls me Ro.” I explain as she lifts some rising dough from the bowl on the counter, and slams it down onto the table where the flour was.
“Alright, so Ro, do you like chocolate or blueberry?” Emily asks.
“I beg your pardon?” I tilt my head at her, watching her start to pummel the dough on the table.
“Chocolate chip, or blueberry pancakes? For the morning.” Emily asks.
“Oh, uh... even though I love them, I’m allergic to blueberries.”
“Is that why it looks like you have a smurf blended up in your hair?” Some jerk demands from the door, causing me to turn in time to see a taller guy walking past the guy in the door, smacking him upside the head.
“Don’t be an ass, Paul.” The man walks over to Emily as a third guy comes in the door, smacking the guy, Paul, upside the head as well, and Paul turns to swing on him, then smirks like it’s a joke. “So,” I jump at the booming voice, turning back to the man who has his arms wrapped around Emily’s waist. “you’re a Cullen? I’m Sam.”
“Great, another leech lover.” I hear Paul groan.
“I’m a Hale, actually. Aurora, just call me Ro.” I explain.
“Cullen or Hale, you’re a leech lover, ain’t ya.” Paul demands.
“Ain’t is not a word, for one, and two I’m not a fan of my family being referred to as ‘Leeches’ because they are no more leeches than you all are, giant puppy dogs.” I retort just as sharply.
“Oh-ho.” Quil laughs from the living room as I turn to look at Paul, who is leaning against a counter now.
“Is that so, Princess? You’re still human, I’m amazed you’re so comfortable living with those blood sucking parasites, that you call “family”.” Paul states, simply observing the apple he’s picked up, before I snort.
“What would you know of family? Packs, aren’t “families” they’re just a bunch of people running together like a bunch of pigheaded jocks.” I state.
“Oh, because being family with monsters is so much better?” Paul demands, causing me to clench my face, my blood boiling as I drop my duffel-bag, crossing the floor in three strides as I rip my sleeve off my arm, and shove my wrist in his face.
“YOU WANT MONSTERS, TRY MEETING THE PEOPLE THAT GAVE BIRTH TO ME, THAT TRIED SLITTING MY WRISTS BECAUSE ADOPTION WAS JUST OUT OF THE QUESTION! ESME AND CARLISLE SAVED MY LIFE, SO IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT MONSTERS, I CAN SHOW YOU MONSTERS!”I scream at the top of my lungs, pulling away to cover the pale silver lines on my wrists as I pant for breath. “You know nothing about my family.” I cross the room, grabbing my bag as I realize that there is a stunned silence in the air. “What?!” I demand, causing Sam to clear his throat, and every hurriedly goes back to what they were doing.
“I still don’t trust you, Princess.” Paul spits.
“You know what?” I turn to glare at him, meet his eyes, and his eyes widen as I sneer at him. “Why don’t you go fuck yourself, you pansy ass, roided out, little mama’s boy!” I snarl, suddenly I notice that he’s shaking, anger rolling off him in visible waves, and I let out a snort. “Maybe you should go jump in a lake, and cool off, hothead.” With that, I look at Emily. “Where’s my room?”
“Uh...” She’s staring at Sam, who is watching Paul. “Upstairs, third door from the left.” She answers, causing me to nod as I start towards the stairs. Getting to the top step, all I hear is “Paul you better not shift in my kitchen!” before I smirk victoriously, and prance off to my bedroom as I hear the kitchen door slam shut. Walking over to my window, I pull back the curtains to see Sam, Jared, and Jacob are pushing Paul off the steps, he is shaking and shaking, and he looks up at my room, meeting my eyes once more, and suddenly his head snaps away as he doubles over, skin and shorts and shoes go flying as a giant Gray Wolf stands just where Paul was moments ago. His head is thrown back as he howls, my heart skips a beat at the beautiful sound, and as his wolf looks at me, a sad look in it’s eyes, I shut the drapes, falling onto my bed.
“Way to go, Ro. Managed to piss off someone you weren’t supposed to. Probably put the treaty in danger too. Greeeaat. Putz.”
The very next day, early in the morning, I quickly go for a jog, then come back, shower, and get dressed for the day, making my way downstairs before any else is up still. Sitting on the bay window bench, I tug the sleeves of my black turtleneck down past my wrists, watching the morning rain outside the window, my damp curls draped over one shoulder. Tugging my cat beanie further down on my head, I lean my head back on the wall my back is presses against, hugging my arms to my chest, and let out a deep sigh. “What the fuck is that on your head?” I jump, whirling around to nail Paul with a glare.
“It’s called a beanie, it keeps my head warm.”
“You so smear smurf in your hair, and pull a cat over your head?”
“Can’t you go five minutes without being a complete an utter asshole?”
“No, I can’t. It’s my nature. You’ll get used to it.” I let out a snort at that.
“No, I won’t.” I answer, turning back to look out the window. “Won’t be here that long.” I mutter to myself.
“What’s with the tragic trapped princess mojo?” Paul demands, dropping onto the couch with the remote in hand. “You didn’t have to come here.”
“For your information,” I start, turning my torso to look at him. “I like looking out at the window. It’s not a luxury I had the first 9 years of my life, and secondly of all, it’s your alpha’s fault that I’m here in the first place!”
“Oh please, cry me a river. Where else were you gonna be? In the Bahama's, getting a tan?” Paul snorts.
“No, smartass. I was going to use my spring break to help the refugees in Africa. I booked a plane ticket, I got vaccinated, and everything. It all got ruined because Bella opened her big mouth about me living with the Cullens, and you guys flipped!” Paul stares at me in surprise. “Now, I have to move my Africa trip to Fall Break, and my Fall Break plans to my Winter Break, and my Winter Break plans to Spring Break. You guys have ruined a year’s planning in the process!” I snarl, turning back to the window.
“What were you gonna do for your other breaks?” Paul asks carefully.
“What do you care?” I snarl.
“That’s a good question.” He answers, silence hangs over us for a few more minutes, he continues to flick through the channels, before I sigh, and rip my beanie off.
“Missionary work is Siberia was the plans for Fall Break. Summer, I have to go to summer school, because I have a job at the library, otherwise I’d go then. Winter, I was going to work in Haiti with the Hurricane victims, and Spring was going to be more Missionary work.” I explain carefully, looking at my interlocked fingers, picking at the purple paint on my pinky finger with my thumbnail.
“Holy fuck. Paul, your imprint’s a saint!” My head snaps up to look at the three boys standing in the door as Paul’s eyes widen, and his fists clench.
 “His what?!” I demand.
“You didn’t tell her man?” Jacob demands, his hand falling from Quil’s mouth, letting me know that he’s the one who spoke first.
“In case you morons can’t tell, we don’t get along!” Paul snarls as he climbs to his feet.
“You... imprinted on me?!” I bellow, causing Paul’s head to snap over to me, eyes full of worry at the panic in my voice. “I signed up for... a few days! Hell, I didn’t even sign up for that, my parents did. Not... for the rest of my life! An imprint?!” I stand from the bench, my fingers gripping my roots as I take rapid short breathes, my world is swirling and colors are spinning and twining together. “I mean, I can’t hardly think for myself in terms of a relationship, because I’ve never been in one, and now suddenly I find that you,” I gesture blindly towards Paul and the other three boys. “are my soulmate?! I can’t- I can’t- I can’t breath!” I manage to force out, my knees finally give out, and there is a pair of warm arms catching me before my head collides with the floor.
“Deep breathes. In through your nose, out through your mouth.” Someone coaches, their voice is muffle by the fog in my ears, but I obey as best as I can, the combination of coaching my breathing and the warmth of their person holding me helps. “That’s it, in through your nose, out through your mouth, deep breathes Ro.” I realize that it’s Jacob.
“Call. Carlisle.” I wheeze out, causing him to nod, grabbing my cellphone from my pocket, and dial the number that says dad. “Tell him. My Panic Attacks. Are Back.” I manage to struggle the words out between breathes, and Jacob nods.
“Doctor Cullen, it’s Jacob Black.” Jacob pauses. “No, yeah, there’s a problem. Ro just had a panic attack.” Another pause. “Well, you see, Paul imprinted on her-”
“He did what?!”I can hear Edward from the other line, causing Jacob to flinch, gritting his teeth.
“Anyway, she found out, and she’s panicking.” Jacob pauses, then pats me on the back. “Yeah doc. Okay. Bye.” He hangs up, shifting as I take deep breathes, wheezing them out. “Quil get me some warm water in a glass, Jared grab me as soft a blanket as you can find. Ro, head between your knees, keep breathing.” He instructs, and I move with my head between my knees taking deep breathes. “That’s it, good job.” Jacob says, then I notice his body jostling with sharp movements, like his gesturing wildly.
 “No.” Paul answers.
“Get you ass over here Paul. You’re presence alone will help, you don’t even have to touch her.” Jacob demands, causing Paul to sigh, and I feel a bigger, warmer hand encompass the small of my back as Jacob forces me to drink the warm water that Quil brings, and Paul wraps the soft blanket around me as I continue to try regulating my breathing. Before I realize it, my chest is rising and falling in sync with Paul’s, as though I’ve matched up our breathing unconsciously. My eyelids flutter weakly as I fall against his chest, my panic attack taking more out of me then I thought, but he stiffens under my head, causing me to jolt away once more.
“S-Sorry.” I stammer out, only for him to reach out, yanking my head back into place on his chest.
“Sleep, you’re up way to fucking early, and had too much shit going on.”
“I don’t wanna,” I let out a yawn. “sleep. Only rest.”
 “Whatever, just go ahead.”
“See, I knew you weren’t always,” I let another yawn. “an asshole.” With that, my eyes flutter shut once again, and I fall asleep against his chest.
“You’re in so deep, and it’s just the first day.” I head someone say with a pathetic excuse for a whisper.
“Shut up, you’ll wake her up.” Paul answers.
“Face it. You’ve imprinted on a leech lover.” The woman retorts.
“A badass saint leech lover. She spends her breaks volunteering in place like Africa and Haiti.” Jared responds.
 “Lie.”
 “How would you know?”
 “How would you?” Leah counters.
“Easy, check her scent. Underneath the bleach of leech.” Paul answers, causing the room to go silent, then there is a huff of defeat.
“So? She’s still a leech lover.” Leah answers.
“So will you be,” I let out a yawn, slowly sitting up. “one day.” I state causing everyone to go silent as I rub my eyes.
“Sleep well?” Paul asks, causing me to smile sleepily at him.
“Can I cuddle with your wolf form?” I answer, causing everyone to laugh, even Leah. “Cause if you’re this comfy as a human, I want a bed made of your pelts.” I answer with another sleepy smile, causing Paul to chuckle, sitting up.
“Sorry sweet cheeks, but the pelt’s off the table. Maybe I could get you Jacob’s.”
“Deal!” That draws more echoes of laughter, before Leah finally speaks up.
 “What did you mean?”
 “Hmm?”
“About me being a leech lover someday?”
“Oh! Nothing!” I sing, stretching my arms and fingers out to my toes, causing her to grunt as she realizes that is all she is going to get, and she stomps out of the room in anger, the boys all laughing after her.
“Are you really feeling better?” Paul asks, causing me to tilt my head at him, giving a firm nod.
“I’m fine. Thanks for the headrest.” I answer, clambering to my feet, and I start into the kitchen to get something to eat.
“Fucking Princess.” i hear Paul mutter from the living room, but I pretend I didn’t.
“Did you want something to eat, Pauly?” I call teasingly, his face blanches as the guys burst out laughing and cackling while I steal the last slice of pizza from the box on the table, chewing on the very end of it as Paul climbs to his feet, stumbling over the blanket as he cusses and curses, and as he stops before me, I sway from side to side, batting my eyelashes innocently. “I didn’t do anything, I just woke up.” i state, taking a large bite out of the very tip of the pizza, then drop the rest into his hand. “Enjoy.” With that, I disappear out the back door as the guys hoot and holler in laughter.
Stalking downstairs later that night, I’ve changed my clothes as I enter the kitchen, tugging my leather into place as Emily and Sam look up along with Paul, Jacob, and Embry, and I pull on my fingerless leather gloves. “Where are you goin?” Paul asks.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but I called some friends, and we’re going to dinner and movies in Port Angeles.” I answer, there’s a honk outside, and the sound of shouting over rock music.
“Bitch, hurry up already, before I have to come in a get yooou!” Vanessa calls, causing Marylinn to laugh too.
“I’m coming slut.” I call out the door.
“Oh, they sound lovely.” Emily states.
“They’re my only friends, okay? Nobody else in this Podunk town talks to me, causing I’m one of the precious “Cullens.” Meh.” I shake my head.
“Hey, Ro, we’re gonna miss the movie!” Marylinn calls, honking again.
“I’m coming, Mary!” I answer. “Anyway, I know where the spare key is, Em showed me. Don’t wait up!” I throw up the rock on sign, and dash out the door, into the black BMW, and Marylinn backs out the clearing, start down the road as Vanessa and I sit on the top of the backseats, howling to the moon, before burst into laughter. It’s nearly midnight by the time I slide the key from the fern, and unlock the door to Sam and Emily’s house, sneaking inside so as not to wake them, turning I freeze when I see Sam, Paul, Seth, Jared, Jacob, Quil, and Embry all in the living room, wide awake, playing video games.
“Hey, how was your night out?” Sam calls from the couch.
“Fine? Why isn’t someone on patrol?” I ask.
“Leah wanted to solo, just left, Seth’s about to go too.” Sam answers, jerking the remote as I walk past towards the stares. “Freeze!” I freeze with one step nearly on the bottom step. “Backtrack over here.” I obey. “Breath.” I breath on him. “No alcohol... no cigarettes... good.”
“I’m not a moron. I don’t have vices.” I snap, and walk towards the stairs once more, there is a choir of good nights, which I wave off before I head upstairs, falling into bed.
Day four, I get up, go for a jog, shower, and get dressed for the day in one of my dresses, stepping down the stairs as I shrug my vest on, I swing into the kitchen, only to stop at the sight of Emily serving half asleep boys half cooked hashbrowns. “Am I the only one that got any sleep last night?” I ask, taking the pan and spatula from Emily, having her sit down as I scoop up the food from their plates and throw together a quick hash to cook down on the stove.
“Yeah, cause not all of us need extra beauty rest.” Paul answers sharply.
“When do you ever get beauty rest, Pauly?” Embry taunts.
“I’ll pummel you when I’ve have breakfast and coffee.” Paul answers.
“Hey, Embry, brutto è brutto in ogni lingua Tu, amico mio, sei brutto.” I state.
“What?” Embry shakes his head in confusion as I dish out the hash.
“Ugly is ugly in every language. You, my friend, are ugly.” I answer, causing the guys to manage a barely weak chuckle, causing me to frown. Emily slumps onto the table, face first. “What happened last night?” I finally ask.
“Rogue vamp. A red head, she was here when you and your family left, she’s been leading us on a chase ever since.” Sam answers, entering the room bright eyed and bushy-tailed.
“You drank the last of the coffee made, didn’t you?” I demand, glaring at him in playful accusation.
“Nope, just naturally this awake. Anyway, we chased her all the way to the Canadian border last night, not the first time we’ve done that.” Sam explains, I pull the coffee pot off the stove, pour the last of the inky black liquid into coffee mugs of various sizes and colors.
“Carry your wife to bed, there is no reason for her to be awake.” I order Sam, causing him to grin at me, shrugging as I set the mugs before the boys, saving Paul’s for last.
“Just pour mine in my ear.” Paul groans playfully.
“Aw, that’s not the spirit of coffee in the morning.” I set the coffee before him on the table, then drop into his lap with all of my weight, causing him to groan in discomfort alone. “You need all this energy and all this spirit, cause I agreed to go on a trial date with your today, remember? To try and make this imprint thing work.”
“Oh yeah.” He groans. “Can’t we wait until another day?”
“Canceling on our first date, for shame. I don’t think my father will approve of me dating you.” I shake my head with the most playfully fake pout and furrowed eyebrows are I can, crossing my arms over my chest. “Come on, Pauly!” I finally cry. “Where you’re sense of adventure? Your spontaneity? Wake up!” I shake him roughly as the other boys start to chuckle at or antics. He pretends to snore, his head falls against my chest, and I scoff, shoving his head away roughly as I stand up again. “So help me, dogboy, you’re not the only one with a mean streak, I will tickle you.” I threaten playfully.
“Oh no! Not the dreaded tickling! Whatever shall I do?” Paul gasps, before he jumps up, picking me up like a sack of potatoes, and spins me around as I squeal, beating on his bad.
“Pumme down! Pumme down! This isn’t funny, Paul!” I scream, the boys at burst out laughing. “You bunch of fakers!” I screech, causing more laughter as Sam and Emily join us in the kitchen.
“Please be careful of my cabinets!” Emily calls over the laughter and my screams of “Pumme down, or Imma puke!” because Paul knows I’m faking going to be sick.
“Pumme DOWN!” I scream yanking at his ear, causing him to flinch, dropping me on my feet as he glares with a pout. “Now maybe you’ll listen.” I state, brush the skirt of my dress off.
“Nice polka dot underwear, Ro. Could see em through your leggings.” Jacob states, causing me to squeak, my hands flying to my but as my face burns in embarrassment, and I turn on my heel, dashing back upstairs to change, hearing Paul snarl at Jacob on the way.
Rocking on my heels, I look around the movie theater in curiosity, and Paul chuckles as he reaches over, grabbing one of my swinging hands, and gently rubs circles across my palm. I smile at I look over at him, a cold chill causes me to shutter as the AC kicks on, and his brow furrows before he twirls me around, pulling me into his embrace as I laugh. Cuddling my head into his warmth, I practically purring, nuzzling him as he chuckles again, resting his chin on my head, he only lifts me off the ground as he shuffles into the theater as the doors open, a few people who are watching, laugh before he deposits me in the seat beside his, and sits down as he grabs my hand. After we finish Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, he takes me to a small diner a few blocks away, watching me as he and I order our various meals. “You’ve never been to Seattle?” Paul asks.
“No, Alice has this shopping thing where, if I want to get new clothes, even a simple pair of running shoes, she drags me to Paris, or Milan. She’s only even been lenient with Bella, but since I’ve been with them since I was ten, I’ve gotten used to it.”
 “Thats eight years?”
“Yeah, we’ve always moved around after two years, so I never really got many friends, or ya know, boyfriends.” I let out a nervous laugh. “Moving around a lot kinda makes it hard to get close to people. Oh!” My head snaps up. “But, I’m not complaining- we’ve been here longer than anywhere else because of Bella, and I love it here. The weather is comfortable, and the people are nice, and I actually have friends.” I explain as Paul leans on his hand, watching me as I look down at my hands, a bit of a sad smile on my face. “I’ve enjoyed our time here so much, I was sad when we had to leave because Edward freaked out. I missed the small town, but then we came back!”
“Do you ever let anyone see the truth?” He asks, causing my head to snap up, and he frowns. “You’re lonely, it’s okay to say it. You wish that you’d be able to stay where you’ve been, but you haven’t been able to. You’re happy with your family, but you’re sad too.” He reaches out, placing his hand over my own.
“I-” The waitress comes over, setting our plates of food down, I notice her eyeing our hands, causing me to blush, drawing my hands away from his to tuck in my lap, and she smirks as she shoots Paul a wink, sauntering off with her hips swinging in exaggeration. “I’m not sad, and I’m not lonely.” I counter, causing him to sigh, shaking his head as he picks up his roll, biting into it. “I mean, so what if I was? It’s not about me, it’s about them- they’re my family. It’s about their protection, in turn they worry about my protection just as much.”
“So, you what? Fake being happy? That’s not healthy.” Paul states as I shrug, spearing a piece of steak that I cut, and popping it into my mouth.
“It’s not the same as being fake happy. I’m really happy most of the time, but sometimes I just...” I sigh, and drop my fork to my plate with a clatter, dropping my head into my hands. “It’s just that I want to be a kid again, when I know I’m not. Everything was so much simpler after Carlisle and Esme first adopted me.”
“Why don’t you tell me about it?”
“You want to hear about my tragic past?” I snort, causing him to shake his head.
“It’s a part of you. I want to know you.” He answers, causing me to shrug, and I take a deep breath. “I guess it was pretty scarring, what your parents did.” At his words I flinch, my hand goes to my scarred arms, the bangles around my wrists covering the pale silver lines. “Bad choice of words, I’m sorry.”
“N-No, it’s fine.” I stammer out the lie, I move the bangles up and down my wrist as he frowns. “I was little, almost 4 when they did them... It’s strange, I healed almost as quickly as they did it, so they kept doing it.”
 “You healed?”
“Yeah, I mean, I’ve always been a fast healer- I never understood it. Carlisle said it’s possible that one of my ancestors was a supernatural being of some kind, which left a trace of magic in my blood, and that’s why I heal so quickly, but I don’t know.” I shrug, taking a bite of my mashed potatoes. “Well, after a while, they’d stopped trying to kill me, and just locked me in the basement, there was one small window that was really high up- I used to get fed through it by one of the neighbor kids. That’s how I stayed alive, food and water once a day from her, and my biological parents caught her one day, she finally told her parents, and they called the cops. Took three days for the police to get there, when they did, the had to break down this wall my parents built over the basement door, and by then I was suffering from serious dehydration and serious undernourishment.”
 “My god.” Paul breaths.
“After I got out of the hospital, I was put in foster care, and hopped from home to home for almost a year. Nobody wanted a child as broken as I was, but then Carlisle had found me- he’d been reading the newspaper, and came across my story, and told Esme. They immediately came to get me.” I shrug, sawing at my steak with my knife. “It took me a long time to get used to them, I mean... i always expected them to send me back to the system, so I acted out. I skipped school, Rosalie would find me and skip with me. I’d break things, they’d just replace them. I’d have panic attacks, and I’d lock myself in my room, Carlisle prescribed anxiety pills and they’d simply try three times to talk to me, before leaving me be. Anything I did to pull away, they’d counter it with something to get closer. I was broken, and they fixed me.”
“My god, Ro...” Paul shakes his head, standing up he crosses the table, and before I can ask what he’s doing, he seals his lips over my own, causing my eyes to widen as I freeze. He coaxes me to kiss him back, his tongue tracing my bottom lip, my eyes flutter closed as I reach up, twisting my hand into his hair, and kiss him back as best as I can. He chuckles as he pulls back, smiling at me as he strokes my flaming hot cheek, his eyes are swirling with worry, with lust, with emotions that I have no names for as he squats down before me, stroking my cheek as I carefully extract my hand from his hair, covering his hand on my cheek with my own. “You’re amazing, you’re strong, you- I understand you so much better now.”
 “Paul, I-”
“Excuse me?” We look up as our waitress hovers nearby. “We’ve had some complaints about you two, your public displays of affection are making some of our customers very uncomfortable.” She states, causing me to look around, seeing the area is practically deserted, save for two more couples, one of which is practically clinging to each other, the other is a man with a woman literally in his lap, and they’re kissing.
“Seriously?” I demand. “Is it in your policy to be a complete and utter bitch and liar, to try and break up couples?” I stand up as Paul watches me, the waitress cocks an eyebrow at me as she crosses her arms over her check. “You’re what, 40? Why don’t you find someone your own age, Betty off your rocker. He’s 19, and I’m 18, I have a better chance with him that you do with any man at this point. I’m sorry you don’t have enough self respect to try having a relationship with a man your own age, but you need to leave people be when you know they’re on a date.”
“Excuse me, is there a problem?” A balding man in a tweed suit comes over.
“Yeah, there is.” I answer. “Your waitress here is jealous over a relationship that my boyfriend and I have, so she’s treating us, or I should say me, like complete an utter shit. She’s a liar and a flirt, and I’m telling your right now, I’ve had three bites of food, and I’m not paying because of her.”
“But- I- Miss, I-” The man stammers.
“Listen here you little twit.” The waitress pokes my chest as hard as she can, I stumble back. “You think you can talk down to whoever you want,” She pokes me in the chest again. “you’re an immature little twat, a spoiled brat who needs a good spanking, huh Princess.” She snaps, poking me again, and I slap her hand way.
“Don’t touch me, Grandma, and don’t call me Princess. That’s his nickname for me.” I snarl at her.
“Liddy, please don’t make this worse.” The manager begs.
“No, I won’t let her talk to me that way, and you’re the boss, she needs to show a little respect.”
“You’re a moron if you think I’ll ever respect someone dumber than a lamppost.” I answer. “You’re going off about our public displays of affection, when that couple over there is practically humping each other in the booth, and the other couple as kissing every other minute. Excuse me for enjoy my first kiss with my boyfriend.” She flushes with anger.
“You are a little bitch.” She snaps, causing me to grit me teeth, and swing my arm back, landing a punch to her nose, she falls to the ground as I glare at her boss.
“Your service sucks, and you’re lucky I don’t report your ass for hiring whores.” I answer, turning on my heels to see Paul watching me in awe. “Paul, come on.” I start out the door, and he follows behind, once we’re outside he bursts out in astonished laughter.
“Baby, that was fucking amazing.” He says, causing me to blush, he wraps his arm around my waist, and pulls me against him. “You’re fucking amazing, I swear.” He says, causing me to smile as my cheeks burn even worse, and he leans down, capturing my lips in another gentle kiss.
“We should go back to Sam and Emily’s.” I state, causing him to grimace as he pulls back.
"Yeah, it’s getting late.” He answers, sorry for the crappy end to our date.
“Date’s not over until we’re back.” I answer, causing him to smile.
“Oh yeah, so I’m your boyfriend?” He asks.
“I was trying to make a point.” I lie, causing him to chuckle, leaning in for another kiss, which I lean into with a hum, and he chuckles, I realize why when I feel his hand on my ass. “Paul!”
“Ro!” He mocks with a teasing grin, causing me to shake my head, shoving him with all my strength, which just makes him stumble, and chuckle. “I’m sorry, I have a hand with a mind of it’s own.” He teases as I shake my head, smiling at him.
“Lets get going.” I state, causing him to chuckle as I start towards the car, he catches up in no time, wrapping an arm around my waist, and I lean into his warm touch.
 “You’re so amazing, babe.”
“Thanks Paul. I know.” I tease, causing me to chuckle again, shaking his head as he opens the passenger door, allowing me to slide into the seat.
“You’re also impossibly difficult.” He states, leaning in to peck me on the lips, before closing the door, before he rounds to the driver’s side , climbing in, and starts back towards Forks, and the Rez, talking and laughing the entire way, his hand never leaving mine.
On day 9 of my stay on the Rez, I’ve fallen into a pattern of waking before the sun, going on a jog, coming back to shower, and get dressed. Tromping down the stairs, I enter the kitchen to get a quick meal of milk and a muffin left over form yesterday, before I enter the living room to fall onto the bay window bench, looking outside as I wait. It’s a total of five minutes, before the screen door in the kitchen slams shut, and I’m engulfed in a deep, burning hot hug, a chin lands on my shoulder. “Morning babe.” Paul whispers, pressing a gentle kiss to my neck, causing a shutter to slink down my back, and he chuckles.
“Morning Paul.” I answer, turning my head to kiss him on the lips. “Patrol run late?”
“Nope, I woke up early.” He answers as he joins me on the bench, pulling me into his lap as he sits with his back to the wall, him knees making a warm wall on either side of me, and his chest is against my back, our fingers intertwining. “How’d you sleep?”
“Fine, I was woke up by some howling though.” He chuckles, pressing his lips to the back of my head as we watch the sunrise. We stay like that, even after Sam and Emily wake up, after Emily starts making breakfast, and even after the rest of the pack come over. Paul’s chin is resting on my shoulder as we watch the rain come and go, the animals scattering around the area out front, and everything else that he’s never taken the time to enjoy before.
“You guys are awfully cuddly over there.” Jacob calls from the couch, I flip him off without even looking, causing the boys to all laugh. “Emily, Ro flipped me off!” Jacob whines like a little kid.
“You probably did something to deserve it.” Emily calls from the kitchen, causing Jacob to make an insulted sound, and all of the boys to start roaring with laughter.
“Hey,” I look up at Paul, who smiles down at me. “how about we get out of here?” He says, causing me fore blink.
 “Where?”
“You’ll see.” He answers coyly, causing me to nod as we stand, and he grabs my hand, pulling me through the house to his truck before the boys can get up to follow. After I slide up into his passenger seat, and he’s in the driver’s seat, he pulls something from the glove box, causing me to observe the black bandanna in his hand. “Let me put this on you.” He says, causing me to swallow thickly, then nod as I turn around, he slips it into place over my eyes, before taking my hand, placing a kiss on the palm he links his fingers through mine, and starts the truck. It’s quiet as we drive, save for the rattle of the truck, or the occasional murmur of “It’s okay, I promise we’re almost there.”, and after what feels like an eternity of darkness and rattle, we stop. “Hold on.” Is all he says, before he long he opens the door, his hands on my waist as he lifts me from the truck, guiding me towards our destination as my hands are blindly outstretched before me.
“Paul?” I ask, causing him to chuckle as he takes off my blindfold, and I blink at the abrupt change in light, looking up at the house before me. “Wh-Why are we here?!” I squeak, looking at my boyfriend.
“I thought it was time.” He answers, causing me to swallow thickly, and nod, taking his hand as I open the front door.
“Mamma? Papà?” I call out, leading Paul up the stairs towards the living room.
“Aurora?” Carlisle enters the living room, Esme on his arm, they blink in surprise as I come to a stop before them, Paul’s hand clasped between my own.
“Ah, my little ragazza!” Esme chirps, stepping forward to hug me, she takes my face between her hands, and presses a kiss to my forehead. “Welcome home.” My stomach drops at that word for a second.
“I didn’t believe it, to be honest.” Edward says, entering the room from the office, his eyes on Paul, who is hovering barely a foot from me.
“Ah, mamma and Papà . Paul wanted to formally meet you both, as...” I clear my throat. “my boyfriend.” I state, causing Esme’s mouth to fall open in surprise, and Carlisle’s eyes widen.
 “So quickly?” Carlisle asks.
“Edward and Bella were together in Edward’s mind three days after they met.” Rosalie answers, walking down the stairs, she crosses to my side in a flash, sweeping me into a tight hug. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you too.” I answer, hugging her back, before she steps back, looking at Paul’s face, her lip curls in distaste, before she clears her throat, and holds out her hand to him.
“A pleasure to meet you formally, Paul.” She says in a polite tone, he nods as he takes her hand.
“Likewise.” Rosalie yanks him close, glaring into his eyes.
“You hurt her, and I will hunt you down like the dog you are.” She growls.
“If I hurt her, I will willing throw myself to the ground at your feet.” He promises, causing my throat to constrict, Rosalie smiles brighter than I’ve ever seen, and they finally let go of each others hands.
“If... this is what you truly want, Aurora, we will accept him.” Carlisle says carefully, before holding his hand out to Paul, I notice Alice twirling in from the tree that branched from the forest, to the house. Jasper is slowly following after, and Emmett enters from the back, most likely just finished hunting. “Welcome to the family, Paul.”
“Whoa! What?!” Emmett booms, glaring at Paul as I shoot Edward and Carlisle an accusatory glare.
“Aurora is Paul’s imprint.” Edward explains to Emmett, only instead of the calm that had settled over everyone, suddenly my siblings implode, save for Edward.
 “WHAT?!”
“Jesus Edward, tact much?” I snarl, causing him to smirk at everyone starts to yell, and protest, though Esme shakes her head in disbelief at my siblings, after fifteen minutes of being scolded for something I had no control over, and Paul sitting beside me with his hand on my back, taking the brunt of the attack, I clench my fist. “That is enough! Holy shit!” My family falls silent in shock, I never curse around them. “I am so sick of this fucking rivalry. So my mate, in vampire terms, is a wolf? So. Fucking. What? Edward’s is a human! What does it matter that I’ve been imprinted on? What happened to, “as long as it makes me happy?” huh? That’s all you guys ever say when I want to do something. When I dyed the tips of my hair blue. Or I pierced my ears. Or, hell, when I got a tattoo!”
“You have a tattoo?” Paul asks, causing me to shoot him a scowl. “Right, not the point.” He leans forward to whisper in my ear. “Tattoos are sexy.” I blush as I shove him, and my family watches us.
“Look, Paul is who. I. Want. If you guys can’t accept him, and that I want him in my life, then... I guess I’ll just have to move in with Sam and Emily.” Everyone gasps, and I cross my arms over my chest, raising an eyebrow. “I’m 18, I can legal move out. So, those are my terms. Accept Paul, or I leave this family.”
“You... feel that strongly about this?” Jasper asks in surprise.
“I can’t explain it. It’s like how he Imprinted on me, and how you have mates... I can’t stand the thought of never being with him, I love you guys, but...” I look at Paul, taking his hand. “I care for Paul like I could never have imagined.”
“You’ve... Marked.” I look over at Carlisle, confusion evident. “I was doing research into your biological lineage, your parent’s parent’s parents, they were Fae. Fae blood skips a few generations when families of human and Fae interbreed, you were third generation of half-human half-Fae, that’s why your parents were trying to kill you. You were born in a bundle of lights, they panicked, thinking you were a monster, that’s why they were trying to kill you. That’s why you healed no matter what they did, Fae are immortal, and because you’re half-human, you bleed and that’s it, eventually you’ll stop aging as well.”
“But... what is Marked?” Paul asks.
“Mated. Imprinted.” Carlisle answers. “Fae Mark when they find their soulmates, it’s rare for it to be human, but her parents and grandparents both marked humans. The fact that it’s a wolf is strange, because Fae are more commonly Marked by other Fae.”
 “So... I’m Fae?” I ask.
“Yes, that’s why your hair is so light, and you are so pale, and why your eyes are so blue. Fae have always been people of light, eyes as blue are yours, are the sign. All Fae have blue eyes like yours.” Carlisle answers. “You’re wings will come in, on your 22nd birthday, and you will be able to withdraw and sheath them in your back, between the hollow of your spine.”
“I-Paul, catch.” I stammer out, before everything wobbles and I fall backwards, everything going black before I hit the ground.
 <Paul POV>
“I-Paul,” I turn to see Ro’s face turn ashen. “catch.” She faints as soon as the words leave her mouth, as she goes down, I catch her as fast as I can, sweeping her into my arms as I look up, seeing her family all looking like they’re about the dash forward to catch her.
“I think that was an information overload with the wings.” I state, carrying her over to the couch, and carefully deposit her onto it, caressing her face as Carlisle steps forward.
“Paul,” I look up at him. “she’s in no danger, ever. As Fae, she’s in no danger from the Volturi, or any Vampire in general. That is why she was able to live her life with us. Her blood has no appeal to us.” He explains, and I look back at my light haired imprint passes out on the couch. “However, she will need protection if she wishes to do what she wants. There are hundreds of thousands of various other supernatural creatures out there, we can not protect her in the sun.” I realize why they were so willing to let her go to Sam and Emily’s now.
“You want her to give up on her dreams of helping people?” I demand, my fist clenching. “That’s all she ever wants, Carlisle. She wants to give others the chance you gave her, to save those that she can. You want to rip that away from her?”
“No,” Esme speaks, coming forward. “that’s never something we want to do. We love her, and we know you are in love with her, you could travel together, you could protect her.” She explains, causing me to relax, looking back at Aurora, then back to the vampires that raised her, her family.
“I’ll leave it up to her. I’ll never take away her choices.” I answer.
“That’s all we ask.” Esme answers.
“Ugh,” Aurora groans, shifting as she sits up, gripping her head. “my head. What were we talking about?” She murmurs, causing me to smile, kneeling down to reach out to stroke her cheek.
 “You. Remember?” I ask.
 <Aurora POV>
“You. Remember?” Paul asks, looking into my eyes, memories flash behind my eyes, and I swallow thickly as I nod.
“Yes, I remember.” I nod again, leaning into the touch of his hand, enjoying the warmth that engulfs my face from his touch. “So,” I look back at Carlisle and Esme, the rest of my family seems to have cleared the room once I fainted. “I’m a fairy... I guess all the best supernaturals sparkle.” I joke, causing Paul to chuckle. “Don’t worry, you’re still one of my favorite.” I say to him, causing him to smile.
“You’re one of my favorites too.” He answers, helping me to my feet, and he keeps his arm around me waist to keep me upright. “Why don’t we head back now?”
“Yeah, I think we’ve had enough excitement for one day.” I answer, Esme smiles as she carefully hugs me, then Carlisle walks up, placing a kiss on my forehead.
“We’ll see you after next week, alright?” Esme asks, causing me to nod.
“Alright, I’ll see you mamma and Papà.” I bid them as Paul escorts me to the door, and out the the truck. Once inside the truck, and on the road again, I look at him with a smile, and he raises an eyebrow at me. “Thank you, Paul... It means so much to me that you wanted to meet them formally. I know that it took a lot for you to do that, and I’m so sorry that the news of the imprint was received like that.”
“It’s alright. I’m glad you didn’t change your mannerisms around them, it’s really hot when you yell like that.” Paul answers cheekily, causing me to duck my head, my cheeks burning once again. “Besides, I need them to like me, considering we’re soulmates, and I love you.” I blink at the words he just said, gaping as he grins at me.
 “I-I love you too.”

Gasping on the hospital bed, Paul caresses my sweaty face with one hand, the other is crushed between my grip. “Almost there honey, I promise you’re almost done.” He murmurs, kissing my hand.
“I can’t push anymore.” I shale my head.
“One more push Ro,” Carlisle responds. “One more big push. I promise you’ll be able to rest.” I look at my dad, and nod, forcing myself to push. The world spots black and my ears fog, then the sound of a high pitch wail fills the room. “It’s girl!” Carlisle says.
“You hear that, honey?” I let out a sweet laugh. “W-We have a little girl.” Paul smiles at me while I watch Rosalie take the baby to get her cleaned.
“Alright, are you ready to continue?” Carlisle asks, causing me grip Paul’s hand, and nod.
“I’m ready.” I rasp out. Five minutes later, the second baby is born, another wail accompanying the first.
“A boy!” Carlisle cries, causing Paul to jolt, looking at his son in Carlisle’s arms. “You have a healthy baby boy.”
“A boy and a girl.” Paul breathes, causing me to smile at him as he looks at me in adoration. “You’re amazing.” He breathes, leaning in to kiss my lips.
“I hate you.” I joke weakly, causing him to smile as Carlisle swaddles the baby boy, and hands me him, while Rosalie swaddles the girl handing him to Paul, who looks at her with glassy eyes.
“What’re you naming them?” Rosalie asks, knowing that we’d managed to hide the names from everyone, even Edward.
“For the girl, we were thinking... Alisme Emily Rose Lahote.” I answer, looking up at her, venom fills eyes in place of the tears that will never be able to fall, a hand over her mouth. “For the boy, we were thinking... Samulisle Tobias Achak Lahote.”
“Truly unique names.” Carlisle answers, causing me to beam at him.
“They are unique children. Just as unique as Renesmee.” I answer, causing him to chuckle as I look over at Paul, who is cooing at our daughter.
“My perfect little Alisme.” He whispers, causing me to smile, looking at our son in my arms.
“Hello, Samulisle.” I murmur, rocking him in my arms as he stretches a bit, yawning as he flutters his blue eyes open at me, tears well in my eyes as I press my forehead to his. “My little cluster of lights, I love you so much.”
“Does he-?” Carlisle asks as I nod to him. “Amazing.”
“What?” Paul asks, standing with Alisme in his arms, he hands her to me, and takes our son, smiling at his blue eyes. “So you’re why we could see you guys.” He chuckles. “Hello my little Faewolf.” He smiles, rocking his son as I caress our daughters face.
“Hello Alisme.” I murmur. “I love you so much.” I press a kiss to her forehead, and Paul smiles as he hands me Samulisle, and climbs into the bed behind me, his warmth engulfing me.
“Can we coming yet? We’re dying out here!” Emmett booms, causing me to chuckle, nodding to Carlisle, who opens the door, and the pack of wolf and the coven of vampires all pile into the room, followed by a walking pile of stuffed animals and balloons, which are soon deposited onto the counter in the corner of the room, revealing Emmett.
“They are already spoiled.” Nahuel chuckles, Leah elbows her imprint in the side, and he chuckles as he presses a kiss to her hair.
 “What’re their names?” Emily asks.
“This is Alisme Emily Rose, and Samulisle Tobias Achak.” Paul answers, causing Emily to burst into tears, Sam chuckles as he holds her, his hand on her swollen stomach.
“They’re beautiful names!” She sobs, causing me to smile sympathetically, knowing the hormones that are coursing through her body.
“They truly are.” Alice answers, standing beside Jasper in the corner of the room. “Samulisle is the Fae?”
 “Yeah.”
“I’m honored to be a name sake.” Sam speaks up.
 “As am I.” Esme chirps.
“I’m just sorry we couldn’t include everyone, but I think we’d need about five more kids to so that.” I say, laughing a bit before I yawn.
“Can I hold one?” Seth asks, causing me to smile at the lone wolf. I feel bad because, Seth and Embry were the last ones left without imprints, even Collin and Brady had imprinted, and up until last year, when Embry went away to College, he and Seth had a brother in binds thing going on, but now we’ve learned that Embry has imprinted on a girl, and is bringing her home when the graduate.
“Sure Sethy.” I answer, he steps forward as I hand him Alisme, since she’s wide away right now, and he smiles as he lifts her into his arms, I watch him distinctly freeze, a now familiar look crosses the 24 year old’s face, having seen it happen to so many of the wolves before. “Aw, Sethy imprinted!” I cry happily, causing everyone to freeze, Paul growls under his breath, causing me to reach up, kissing him on the lips, and that causes him to calm down once again. I watch as Alisme latches onto Seth’s finger, cooing happily up at the melted pup.
“I guess it was just a matter of time, Seth.” Leah says, smiling as she pets her brother’s head.
“Yeah, I guess so.” He answers, keeping his eyes on Alisme like he’s afraid she’ll vanish.
“Does someone want to hold Samulisle? I need to sleep.” I say with a soft yawn.
“Oh, me!” Alice answers, dancing forth to pluck my son from my arms before I can say anything, or anyone else can butt in. I smile as I watch my families, the ones that once hated each other, that grew close thanks to Paul and I, but grew closer when Renesmee and Jacob imprinted, thinking to myself ‘Isn’t it funny? How love can change things? How it can even bridge to biggest of gaps? How it can fill even the deepest of holes?’ I look back at Paul, who smiles down at me. ‘All it takes, is one little push.'
“You know, it’s funny, who would’ve ever thought it. That I’d fall in love with the Human Cullen?” Paul rumbles in my ear. “I guess all we needed to come together, was one little push.” I burst into laughter, leaning up to kiss him passionately, nipping his lip as I pull away.
“You, mister, need to stay out of my mind. Oh, I am serious too. Besides I am a proud Fae, who you calling Human Cullen?”

TLNRS Mini Reboot Take 2
Here is the second one! Hope you enjoy it? Again, not edited, nor proofread, so it may suck, you’ve been warned, enter at your own risk, etc.
@kettnerjanea @katsav17 @imyourapocalypse @bethanymccauley @whirlpoolsink @rasberryfon-fon
Which was super.
You’d always been drawn to Carlisle, from the beginning, and this forced possessive and protective side to him was beginning to wear you down.
And then all hell broke loose.
“What?!” Edward roared, practically foaming at the mouth and to your surprise, Esme echoed his horrified exclamation with her own, shocked yell of, “Y/N!”.
But your gaze then locked on Carlisle. He looked a mix of horrified, angry and absolutely devastated.
“Y/N,” he whispered, voice breaking at the end and you were stunned to see what looked like a tear roll down his face. You weren’t aware vampires could cry.
You shifted, uncomfortable and not quite sure what to do as Carlisle slowly began to walk towards you, hands lifted up in a gesture of submission.
“Y/N,” he murmured again as he got closer, “please. Don’t.”
You shifted again, not sure if you should step back or stay where you were as he approached.
“Don’t what?” you finally managed to choke out.
“Don’t ask to have yourself…,” he trailed off, not able to put into words you asking to have yourself killed. “Please, Y/N. Please, just punish me instead. Whichever option would make you feel better, but please, let it be against me. Not you.”
He was now only a few steps away from you, standing on the first step to the thrones.
“Please,” he started again but you interrupted him with a broken, “I have to!”
Silence permeated the throne room again and Carlisle slowly took another step towards you, golden eyes searching your face.
You couldn’t stand the worry and concern you saw in his eyes and took a step back, letting your gaze drop to the floor.
“I have to,” you repeated, voice a little stronger but no louder than your broken murmur before. “I…I can’t see you hurt, Carlisle. And you’re… you’re not happy with me, you never could be, but with Esme you’re—”
“Stop!” Carlisle begged, closing the distance between you swiftly and causing you to gasp and stiffen in his sudden embrace. “Y/N, please,” the vampire pleaded into your hair. “Don’t do this. Don’t say things like that. I am sorry, so so sorry.”
Carlisle was suddenly pulling away but before you could do more than blink in protest, he was kneeling in front of you, his head bowed low enough that his forehead was lightly resting on your abdomen.
“Y/N, I am sorry,” he repeated, “So sorry, darling.”
Your heart rate tripled at the endearment and the feeling of cold, gentle hands slipping up to wrap around your waist as his head pressed a bit further into your stomach.
“I have put you through….through too much these past few weeks. And I am not asking for forgiveness. Just that you let me be punished. You are too good for any of this, especially for-for death. Please, Y/N. Decide what punishment you want me to face, but keep yourself out of it.”
You weren’t sure what to do.
You had your mate clinging to you, begging you to have him punished and to save yourself, calling you darling and apologizing for how he’d treated you. But on the other hand…he wouldn’t be happy with you, would he? You could never live with yourself if you had him punished. All he did was mark the woman he loved and be marked in return. Why should he get punished for being suddenly bound to you?
This really was the only way.
“Carlisle,” you said quietly, with a sad smile, lifting a hand and running it through his hair, “It’s alright. I’m not upset with you – I understand. You and Esme have a connection that you and I will never have. And that’s okay. But this arrangement can’t work with me still in the picture. I’ve made up my mind, but it’s okay. It’s what I want.”
A wretched sound tore itself from the vampire kneeling at your feet and suddenly, you found yourself whisked away and in what looked like a garden, your head spinning from his vampire speed.
You were sat on a stone bench, your back pressed against the castle wall behind it and an almost frantic vampire doctor hovering above you.
“I won’t allow you to have yourself killed because of me, Y/N,” Carlisle said firmly, sounding both fierce and heartbroken at the same time. “I have wronged you, my family has wronged you, but you…you have done nothing to deserve any of this, least of all death. If I have to, I will beg the Volturi to punish me, but I will not let you put any punishment on yourself.”
“Carlisle,” you started gently, but the doctor interrupted you by falling to his knees before you once again.
“Please, Y/N. I know that I have no right to ask anything of you, but please, do not do this to yourself.  I could not bear it if anything happened to you.”
Your brow furrowed as you looked down at the vampire at your feet.
“You…you can’t possibly care,” you murmured in confusion, mind racing over how you had been treated the last few weeks. He couldn’t really be trying to convince you that he’d cared all along?
“I do care,” the blonde vampire murmured. “I have been a fool, Y/N and I am not looking for your forgiveness, for I know I do not deserve it. And I never would be able to earn it. But I do care for you and I care what happens to you. All I am asking is that you don’t die for me and certainly not for anyone else in the family. I will fight to ensure that nothing happens to you, that no one hurts you again. Please, Y/N. Just…allow the ceremony to progress with me as the punished. I will do whatever you ask of me, endure anything you could think of. Just not your death. Please not that.”
You leaned back a little to better look him in the eye and asked dubiously, “If I wanted to follow Aro’s suggestion? The second option? Where you were to kill Esme, you’d be fine with that?”
Carlisle’s eyes showed pain, but also conviction when he steadily answered, “I would do it if that was your wish.”
               Your jaw dropped.
“What?! But, you love her! Why would you even consider killing her just because I said so?!”
“Because you are my Mate!” Carlisle shouted right back, causing your eyes to widen even further. “I have been a fool, Y/N, but that hasn’t changed the fact that you are the One for me. You are my Mate. And I have treated you abhorrently. Whatever you would wish, I would give you.”
You crossed your arms defensively and looked over his shoulder at the foliage behind him.
“You’re only saying that because of the Pull,” you murmured, feeling your eyes tear up again as your mate, the one you have been hopelessly attracted to for weeks, said all the things you’d been hoping he’d say.
But you knew he didn’t mean it.
               He couldn’t.
A gentle hand cupped your cheek and turned your face to his.
“I can feel the Pull,” he agreed, shushing you as you made a sound in distress. “But it does not dictate my actions, nor does it dictate my feelings. If the Pull was that strong, and there is a part of me that wishes it was, none of the last few weeks would have happened. The Pull gives us direction and a purpose, it shows us who is our Match. But it does not force us. Not in the way you’ve been thinking. Yes, over time, even the most stubborn vampires will listen to it more and more, but only because it feels right. I…,” he paused before he sighed heavily and continued, “I have not been a good Mate, I have been ignoring and fighting the Pull. For a variety of reasons, none of them good, and none of them have anything to do with you and whatever shortcomings you think you possess. I am an old fool, Y/N. But a fool that has learned to listen to fate and has grown to care for you. Please, please believe me. I do not wish any more harm to befall you, especially because of me.”
You were silent for a few long moments, just staring into the golden eyes in front of you.
“What would you have me do, Carlisle?” you asked tiredly, worn out from the emotions the last few weeks had wrought upon you.
“Nothing,” was his immediate response. “I am in no position to ask or demand anything of you, Y/N. But…if I could, if you would permit me, I would ask the favor that you not ask the Volturi for your death. Anything else, I will agree to and give you. Anything. Just not that.”
“What about the bond?” you murmured after a moment. “What would you have me do about the bond?”
“Nothing,” he replied again, though you could tell that it was not as easy for him to say this time around. “I deserve nothing from you, least of all your companionship and love in a bond. I would ask, if you would allow me to occasionally be by your side, to keep the bond satisfied so you would feel no ill effects.”
When he didn’t say anything else you asked, “That’s it? You wouldn’t have me be changed? Try and change my mind so that I would agree to a relationship?” Your eyes shuttered as a horrible thought occurred to you. “Would you just go back to Esme?”
“No!” Carlisle rushed to reassure you, suddenly standing and leaning over you, one knee on the bench by your side.
“Esme and I are no longer, Y/N. We will not be together again. You are my Mate, my Only. There will be no other for me. I would not ask you to become like me; I do not deserve to even think of trying to change your mind and be with me in any capacity. I realize I ruined my chances of that long ago. I just ask that you let me make sure you are not in any pain from the Bond for the rest of your life. However long that may be.”
“Y/N?” a voice spoke up from your left and you looked over to see one of the Volturi guards standing in the doorway. “The Masters asked that we bring you and the Cullen back into the throne room. The ceremony cannot be delayed any longer.”
Carlisle slowly straightened, golden eyes roving over every inch of your form as if committing it to memory while he helped you stand from the bench.
“Um, thank you,” you murmured to the guard. With one last look at Carlisle, you headed over to the guard, Carlisle falling into step behind you.
You would have to come up with another plan then, to appease the ceremony. You would do as Carlisle asked and not ask to be killed yourself, but you still refused to have your bond mate hurt.
Glancing behind you as subtly as you could, you took in the sight of Carlisle walking behind you, and felt your heart flutter slightly.
You wouldn’t be trusting him any time soon, but if he meant what he said…well, you had years to have him prove himself to you.
Maybe, just maybe…there was hope for you two yet.
