Muting this post. I'm seeing a lot of actual fanon and/or headcanon now in the notes, absent any citations from the game text or the lorebooks or developer interviews. I'll probably end up sitting down this weekend and making a big post specifically on tempering. A lot of the older lore and interviews are clearly outdated, but those instances are obvious and most of the rest still holds up. Probably worth revisiting.
Not gonna reblog the person answering a good-natured ask because I don't want to be That Person, so instead I'll just post this here.
The unsundered Ascians were tempered by Zodiark. This is canon. We get the optional dialogue (read: optional as in, "if you do not speak to the NPC that doesn't have the quest marker, you will miss this bit of dialogue/lore") from Emet-Selch himself during the Lv. 76 quest "Best Way Out." One of the big problems is about passion against compassion, which is greed against giving — and giving up, primarily. And the whole issue is the flip side of greed which is the fear of losing. So you’re either trying to get things or afraid of losing the things you got. The idea is to let go of those things. Because once you’ve started down that path of fear then you’re trying to protect things

have you ever thought about doing a Game Shakers video? or is the show too boring to really justify such a thing?
So when it comes to doing Henry Danger and Game Shakers videos, there are really a few things I think people need to keep in mind...
The mini-series so far is really heavily about me revisiting my nostalgia and kind of answering my curiosity about where these shows went. So reviewing iCarly and Victorious worked because they were of "my era." Sam & Cat worked on that level of "What happened after I stopped watching?" I think that if I don't have a specific goal or pitch, just flippantly watching kid shows from faaaar past my childhood works less as a concept.
One of the great things about iCarly and Victorious is that both shows are barely, and I mean BARELY, in the copyright system on YouTube. Once or twice per season, I'd get one clip or one episode that I had trouble with. But it was shocking how much I could get away with. Sam & Cat was hell because it was clear that by 2013 Nick was uploading stuff to the YouTube copyright library as it was made. So no matter what I did, I would get a copyright claim. This is honestly why those final two videos were much more indulgent than my usual style. I kind of went, "if I have to fight copyright anyway, might as well show more clips..." I regret this somewhat, as now my new video still has 20+ days until I'll have full ads AND I now have a reputation for only recapping plotlines. But that's what you get I guess.
This is much more a thing for Henry Danger than Game Shakers, but another issue is just how much content there is with these shows. Henry Danger has a decade of content, recapping all of it would be both unsurmountable journey and... Well, not fun to watch. So if I ever did these shows, I would have to really focus more on season-by-season analysis rather than actual episodes.
I think my videos on iCarly, Victorious and Sam & Cat are all connected by certain themes and points that I am now drawing closure to. The gags about "the creator," the cognitive dissonance, the attachment to childhood, etc. So if I do reviews on other shows, I have to find new angles and themes to establish. Drake & Josh and Zoey 101 are topics I like because instead of focusing on the creator, I can focus on the lives of the stars and how fame affected them. When it comes to Game Shakers and Henry Danger, the only possible throughline I can think of is how the shows were effective by the collapse of their creator and production studio. Henry Danger continued and improved while Game Shakers was effectively canceled early and fell on its face. But we've already covered all that. Game Shakers just doesn't have that pull to me, and because of that, I can't imagine finding an excuse to review it.

[ Red In My Ledger ]
Tumblr media
Pairings: Iron Man! Gojo Satoru x Black Widow! Reader
Summary: You could never truly forget your past, nor the blood that tainted your skin, but maybe you could learn to live in the present and look towards the future. Maybe you could if he stayed right beside you through it all.
Tumblr media
The Avengers Tower was eerily quiet. The usual hum of activity that filled the corridors was replaced with a heavy silence as the team assembled in the war room. The threat that had brought them here was familiar to one person in particular—you—the Black Widow. You stood by the table, arms crossed tightly over your chest, as the rest of the Avengers discussed their next move.
In front of them were the holographic schematics of a highly secured building, its underground chambers filled with secrets—secrets from the past, and some that were better left buried. The remnants of the Red Room program had resurfaced. It wasn’t just a small, isolated group—it was global, with new recruits, experiments, and far more dangerous technology than before.
But for you, it wasn’t just another mission. It was your past, your deepest fear. The Red Room was where they had turned you into a weapon, a killing machine. The place that stole not only your childhood, but your ability to ever feel truly free again. The same place that stole your humanity, and now, they were back.
Beside you, Satoru, the Jujutsu Sorcerer who was far more than just an ally, tapped his fingers against the table. The sleek, white and black armor of his modern Iron Man suit reflected the dim light from above. His usual confident, carefree demeanor was gone. In its place, a quiet intensity you rarely saw. He knew what this meant for you. They all did.
“We can’t let them continue this. We need to finish this once and for all” he stated.
You didn’t speak at first, your gaze flicking from the holographic map to the faces of the other Avengers. They were all willing to fight. But only you knew what this really meant—what it would do to you to face this, to revisit the ghosts of your past. The fear of what they might find. The fear of what you might have to relive.
“I’m in. Let’s finish it”
Your voice was steady, but the words tasted bitter, like metal on your tongue.
Hours passed as the team geared up for the mission. Satoru worked tirelessly in the lab, fine-tuning his suit’s cursed energy filters to counteract any new enhancements the Red Room had created. He occasionally shot glances in your direction, but you kept herself busy, methodically checking your gear. You were preparing yourself for the fight ahead, but you were also preparing for something far more difficult—the emotional battle you would face when they entered the Red Room’s facility.
They had learned that the Red Room had merged with some darker jujutsu practices. Their experiments were more than just genetic manipulation—they were blending curses with human enhancement, creating twisted soldiers. Satoru had encountered similar experiments in his past, but even he didn’t know what to expect from these new creations.
“You’re quiet tonight”, his voice was casual, but his eyes betrayed the concern he felt. He glanced at you over the workbench, trying to gauge your mood.
You didn’t respond immediately. You were inspecting your guns, running your fingers over the cold metal as if the sensation could ground you. The sound of your fingers tracing the edges filled the space between them.
“You know I can’t let you do this alone, right? Whatever’s inside that place, I’m with you. You’re not facing it by yourself”
Your fingers stopped, the slight clink of the gun's mechanism now louder than ever in the silence.
“I don’t need anyone to fight for me. I can handle this” your words were clipped, defensive.
But they were a lie. You didn’t need someone to fight for you—but you needed someone to understand. To see you as more than just the weapon you had been trained to be.
Satoru didn’t push you further. He understood. You had never been one to ask for help. You had learned long ago that to rely on others was dangerous. That’s what they taught you in the Red Room: trust no one, not even yourself.
Instead, Satoru walked over to you, standing just behind you. His fingers brushed lightly against your shoulder, a quiet gesture that was more for his reassurance than yours.
“You don’t have to say it. I already know”, his voice was warm, the softest you had heard it in a long while, “We don’t have to talk about it. But when this is over… when we’re done with all of this… I’ll be here. For whatever comes next”
You didn’t respond. You weren’t sure if you could let him in, if you were ready to show him how deeply broken you still were. How much of you was still locked inside that cold room, buried in blood and shame.
The operation was swift. They infiltrated the building, using stealth and precision. But the deeper they went into the Red Room’s facility, the more dangerous the situation became. The soldiers they encountered weren’t normal. They had been enhanced with cursed energy—monsters that fought with vicious, uncontrollable power. The deeper they went, the more the place began to feel like a labyrinth of nightmares.
“We need to get to the core of this place, quickly. The longer we stay here, the harder it’s going to be to get out” Satoru said, his voice echoing through the comms, focused as always, but his attention kept drifting back to you.
You were moving with a precision that only someone with your training could manage, but Satoru could see the cracks. Your eyes weren’t just watching the enemies—they were scanning the walls, the hallways, the shadows. They were looking for something else. Something more terrifying.
You knew this building. You knew the traps, the layouts, the hallways. They had been your prison for too long. The stench of it still clung to you, no matter how many years had passed. It made your skin crawl, made you feel like you were still the broken girl they had molded you into. A weapon. Nothing more. The mission was clear, but the emotional weight of it was unbearable.
As they reached the heart of the facility, they found themselves facing the Red Room’s last remaining operatives—monstrous soldiers enhanced with both cursed energy and the Black Widow’s own training. Your eyes narrowed. This was the final test. Not just for your body, but for your mind.
The battle erupted in a fury.
Satoru was everywhere at once, his cursed energy flowing through the air, creating barriers, manipulating space. He took down enemies with ease, but his eyes never strayed far from you. He watched every movement you made, his instincts as sharp as ever, but there was a worry in his expression that wasn’t typical for him.
You were unstoppable. You were fluid, a killing machine honed by years of torment. But even as you fought, there was something raw in you—the fear, the trauma. Every punch, every kick, was a reminder of what you had endured.
A soldier lunged at you, a blur of cursed energy and desperation, and for the briefest moment, your mind flashed back to the Red Room—the blood, the chains, the pain.
You are nothing. You are just a weapon.
But this time, when the soldier’s hand reached for your throat, you didn’t freeze. You didn’t flinch. Your body moved like instinct, fluid and unstoppable, and you broke the soldier’s neck with a swift motion.
But it was the aftermath that hit you. The weight of the body crumpling at your feet, the taste of blood in your mouth, and the sudden, overwhelming pressure in your chest.
Satoru reacted swiftly, “Hey, hey, you okay?”
His voice cut through the fog in your mind, but you couldn’t answer. You couldn’t speak. The walls of the Red Room were closing in again.
You were nothing but a weapon.
But Satoru was there, right by your side, his presence grounding you like an anchor. He knew you better than anyone, and even though you couldn’t admit it, he understood the ghosts you carried.
He caught your wrist gently, pulling you back as the battle raged around them.
“You’re not that person anymore. You’re not a weapon. I’ll never let you be that again”
His words were more than just reassurance—they were a lifeline. A promise.
And for the first time in a long while, you allowed yourself to believe it.
The battle was over. The Red Room was dismantled. Or at least the majority of it, after all they were a pest ever growing in the shadows. But for now it was over.
For you, though, the real fight had just begun. As the Avengers cleaned up, dismantling the remains of the Red Room’s operations, Satoru stayed close to you.
You both were alone now, walking down the dark corridor of the destroyed facility. The quiet was oppressive, and you felt the weight of the years you had spent running from yourself catch up to you. You hadn’t said a word since the battle ended.
Satoru stopped walking, turning to face you. There was no one else around now—no mission, no enemies, no distractions. Just the two of you, standing in the ruins of what had once been your prison.
“I know it’s not over for you. This doesn’t magically fix everything”, his voice was low, almost gentle.
There was no pressure, no urgency. Just a quiet understanding.
“I don’t know how to move past this. How to be… normal. How to feel anything other than pain”
“You don’t have to do it alone. You don’t have to fix everything in one night” he reminded you, “But I’ll be here. Whenever you need me. And when you’re ready, I’ll help you carry it”
Your heart thundered in your chest. The walls around you—those walls you had built for years—felt like they were crumbling. But for the first time in so long, you didn’t feel scared. You didn’t feel like a weapon.
You were just… yourself.
“Thank you”, your voice was quiet, the weight of your gratitude heavy.
Satoru didn’t say anything. He didn’t need to. He simply reached out, placing a hand gently on you shoulder.
And for the first time, you didn’t pull away.

I'll agree with everyone that Arcane season 2 needed a lot more time for all those character arcs and storylines. A few more episodes, maybe a whole other season.
But I only arrived at this conclusion in Act II, when certain things (reunions, conflicts internal and external) stopped making much sense. Until then, I honestly liked the economical storytelling. I'm cool with time skips, I don't need everything spelled out, and letting the audience fill in the gaps can be a good thing. I also truly loved how much plot (and not just aesthetics) they managed to fit in the music intros, these were great.
That said, it's not a film you watch in the theatre, it's on netflix (and torrents and such), you can rewatch stuff. And I did rewatch stuff, and I had missed several details the first time. Is that a a flaw? I don't know, I think it rewards revisiting it. The animation is SO GOOD, and it doesn't just look gorgeous, it conveys so much.
Tumblr media
what a frame
I saw many complaints about Vi's pit fighter phase specifically, that it needed more space, and not just a music video. Hard disagree. The music video was brilliant, it told a whole story with a beginning, a middle and an end, with ascension (well. of a sort.) and downfall, with Vi's emotional state made clear at every step, and it showed very well the huge difference of what it's like to crawl back home wasted and all fucked up WITH someone to pick you up, and WITHOUT. If you've ever been in the general vicinity of a Drinking Problem, you know what I mean. Exaggerated violence notwithstanding, it was all incredibly realistic. In a League of Legends adaptation!
Could they stretch it to like half an episode and make it good? Sure! But there was no narrative necessity, imo, those 2 minutes without dialogue said it all, and that's a huge compliment.
And maybe if they hadn't released the WHOLE thing in advance for promotion, there would be less complaints. Seriously, that official clip was a terrible idea: what should have been a a teaser turned out to be a spoiler. Or maybe the audience yearned for more scenes with Vi beating the shit out of people and getting wrecked in turn, which hey, can't blame them. But within the narrative of the series, it worked amazingly.

My Weekly Wipeouts~
Tumblr media
Back in April of 2020, I not only started posting daily pics of Marshall, I also began my routine of using clips from the cartoon to post "Weekly Wipeouts". Admittedly, I wanted to call them "Wednesday Wipeouts", but I noticed that was used quite a lot already on Twitter/X for various other posts, so I changed it to Weekly Wipeouts. Ever wonder why I always post these on Wednesday? Now you know!
I haven't missed a single Wipeout since I started (unless you count the ones that got blocked on Youtube... thanks, Viacom). In fact, since that day, I've posted well over 230 of them! Even more, if you count the ones I revisited to extend them with extra clips. Just for fun, here's a peek at the documents I use to keep track of them all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first came up with this idea, I didn't want to just post a clip and call it a day. I figured I'd also create an intro and outro card to place on each one, just to add a little extra flair. I'll admit, this was directly inspired by the official PAW Patrol Youtube account, since they often did something similar.
Tumblr media
This is what I initially came up with for my intro. The thing is, I wasn't happy with just using a still image for the background, so I replicated that animated background (common with the franchise) from scratch and made it red. Actually, at first I used the one from the video game, "PAW Patrol on a Roll", since it was easier for me at the time. I later replaced it with one that's more accurate to what you see behind the logo during the official cartoon's intro, only... red.
I kept this for about sixty Wipeouts until I finally decided I wanted to go back in and change those letters to something that looked nicer. Going back to Photoshop...
Tumblr media
This is what I came up with. I think these letters just look way better! And this is when I updated the background animation, too. What you see here is what I'm still using now, although I've swapped out the render of Marshall for another a few times since then.
Admittedly, I was slightly tempted to use a render that uses his new season 11 animation, but I don't have any that can work that's also transparent. Besides, I still prefer his old look more, anyway. Maybe I'll try to edit one eventually, if I ever use a wipeout from the latest episodes with that new animation... but I'm pretty sure those will just immediately get blocked by Youtube anyway.
Tumblr media
I've also updated my intro for some holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas. I usually work on these ahead of time, since I always make a bunch of edits and modifications to them until I get something I really like. In fact, the Christmas one received quite a few edits.
Tumblr media
The first one, we'll call it version 1.0, used a lot of blue, such as the background and letters. I felt this didn't mesh with Marshall's red aesthetic, so I was like "I can't keep this".
Tumblr media
For version 1.1, I reversed my edit and made the letters red again. It still didn't look quite right, so again, I went back in to modify it.
Tumblr media
For version 1.2, I decided to ditch the blue background and go with the usual red. I also decided, for fun, to put some snow and ice on the badge, just to sell the winter theme even further. I felt it was all starting to look better… but there was still something about it that wasn't meshing for me, particularly with the trees and snow field I drew up. Back to Photoshop.
Tumblr media
For version 1.3, I decided to see what it might look like if I made the mountains in the background a bit more blue, to give them a more cold temperature look. I felt this was what it needed for everything to mesh better, so I went with it. This is ultimately what I used!
Tumblr media
I later modified this one to use the updated new letters, too. A version 1.3.1, if you will. I had to redraw the Christmas lights around said letters to make it work, but it was worth it to improve the overall look.
Honestly, this stuff can sometimes be a lot of work, especially when the Wipeout clip requires some extra editing (including audio editing to merge clips and/or remove portions for time), but it's something I like doing for you guys. I like my content to look and appear nice, and hopefully unique enough to stand out... even if some of this just involves a brief clip at the start. The effort is often worth it!
Well, I hope you all enjoyed a brief look at some of what goes into my Weekly Wipeouts. I just figured it might be a fun thing to talk about... and to continue procrastinating from working on rearranging my Marshall collection (I haven't worked on it much since my last post about it. lol)

Hi arcade kitten I was wondering about a few things 1 why does Ryo change in crowscare but not tricks and treats 2 does embry have other secrets besides the inmimb plot 3 is vasilis a morning person or a night person 4 does crowren ever pull pranks on his sister/cousin 5 are you planning to revisit locations in future games 6 will there be full voice acted version of blackout hospital or cemetery Mary
The magic used to make Ryo was less sloppy in execution in Tricks N Treats ---
I feel like there's only so many secrets a child is capable of having without most of them just being really tame things that don't even need to be secrets. Like liking an unpopular book or something. This is to say no I don't think Embry is harboring anything ---
They took up a graveyard shift in Blackout Hospital so I'd guess I'd say night ! ---
If we're talking about Mary in Cemetery Mary that's not his sister! Also...Crowven pranking Mary is...literally a thing that happens in the game, haha ---
Depends! ---
Nope because that will cost me like a bajillion dollars and a helluva lot of time! Also while I like the idea of a fully voice-acted game in theory, even until the last minute I'm constantly changing or editing dialogue and having to alert voice actors of any minor change that now needs a new voice clip sounds like a nightmare

Hi, I'm the anon who asked about the unconfirmed JiKook thoughts. You don't have to post this. I just wanted to tell you that yours was the best non-answer answer I've ever gotten. Thank you for putting together such a cute response. I agree with you. I'm horrible at the numbers and deep theories too, but it's fun to consider and you sounded like you wanted something fun to dig your teeth into for the heck of it. Also, I wanted to correct the link I put for the travel Vlog that reminds me of Closer Than This design theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TbIyRhvIBQ It was actually Jimin's Japan travel Vlog for his and JKs 1st Japan trip, not the 2019 vacation I had mentioned. Again thanks and take care.
Post anon is referring to
Hi Lovely!
Can I just say I love you?! I love people like you, you seem like good peoples.
I say this with all the excitement possible, DM me and let’s go crazy with the jikook theories 😜
Nah but for real, I saw Jimin’s vlog he did for their trip years ago and revisit it occasionally, it’s soo friggin cute!

Original Jimin Tokyo Vlog Tweet
Tumblr media
I see what you’re saying about the style of it and how it reminded you of the ‘Closer Than This' MV
I totally see what you're saying anon! And to think in 2017 Jimin probably only had iMovie and a vision. Then end of 2023, with a billion won company, that him and his members helped build with resources and a team, we get a refined but still in essence Jimin MV!
Tumblr media
Very much in line with the fun, not too serious but full of sentiment style Jimin likes, like his video to army:

Who wudda thunk that Jimin and JK both like art and editing?! They are literally like two halves of a whole 😩

One of Jungkook’s many art styles
Tumblr media
Some of Jimin’s art & Some of Jungkook’s art
Jikook have, in my opinion and also maybe one of the ‘unconfirmed Jikook thoughts’, been talking to each other back and forth through songs, their cute edits, twitter and weverse posts FOR YEARS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again it’s like, how does anyone diminish their tighter than tight bond?! They’re like me and my besties that can talk to each other on text, IG dms, snap, TikTok etc and be holding different trains of conversation on all of them AND STILL see each other or speak on the phone for hours like we’re not in constant communication on different platforms…and still have little things we didn’t know about what the other did that day or did last week. Why are we like this 😭
Fr though if you wanna DM me instead of chatting through asks feel free 😉
Thanks for the follow up

Do you have any advice on writing characters in fanfic? I want to make one but I worry I'm gonna write the characters out of character. Which is like my worst fear.
Do you have any advice or Tips?
ooooh, that's a good question!!! I'm not sure if any of my advice is going to be helpful or obvious (that's always how writing advice feels to me!) but I'll give it a go.
I find that getting the voice down means that a lot of other stuff gets forgiven. "he wouldn't say that" or "he wouldn't do that" is a lot harder if you've thought through a character's internal/external voice, and can make them sound like they're in the situation. So try and make it sound like them first, and then people are more willing to suspend disbelief for you! OOC is only OOC if people aren't willing to believe a character is capable of being in that situation - voice is one of the key ways that you can get there.]
I also think that when you learn a character's voice, the next challenge is making it sound natural. For a character like Astarion for instance, don't have every sentence that comes out of his mouth be outlandish! Only like, every 4 in 5 :') just try not to overuse tics, is what I mean!
don't be afraid to acknowledge their flaws, even if that means they make mistakes. i think a large part of writing OOC comes from idealising a character. hopefully, the blorbo you enjoy you like despite their flaws, or maybe because of them. if you think they'd fuck something up, let it happen - and then see how they fix it after.
I have characters I can write easily for, but if I ever need to refresh I watch clips, I replay, etc. The good thing about BG3/dragon age is that a lot of their content is online - rewatch cut scenes, remind yourself of motivations but also just... what words they use. How they phrase things. What rhythm their sentences have. If you're ever worried about things being OOC, I find that the age old "revisit the source material" is genuinely helpful. I don't like fanon versions of characters if I can help it, so I go back to the canon and I dip my toe in to litmus test my own work!
People want characters in unusual situations, and they want them in romantic ones. For instance, when I write Astarion, I often worry it's OOC if I get him to do something soft/romantic... obviously, this is what a lot of people are IN fanfic for. So if you're worried that the OOC parts are too soft, or too nice, or w/e... don't worry. This is what a lot of people want from fanfic, so they'll suspend their disbelief for you.
Brief acknowledgements of the obstacles to an audience's full buy in can sometimes help. So for instance, in an Astarion smut fic, a brief nod to "he feels weird about sex, or used to" can immediately make anything "OOC" feel more forgivable bc you've lampshaded "yes, this does take a stretch of the canon, but I've flagged to the reader which bits I'm imaginatively changing" and then you can dive straight in.
Otherwise... it is... unfortunately... practice! ! ! Even a few chapters back in honest lie and pieces, I felt like I couldn't write for a majority of the ensemble cast. Now that I've practiced, I don't feel as daunted about managing multiple voices. I hate it here, but writing improves the more you do it. So don't let the fear of being OOC deter you, even if you start out in a more OOC place you'll get there through writing more :)

Note
I really love your finfolk au and the amount of care you have put into the world building and characters.
If it's okay, can I ask some questions about the story?
In one post, you mentioned that Frank seemed to not mind being tricked into coming to the island, and "maybe at some point he gave up" (or something to that affect?). You also mentioned that he keeps his bowtie as a reminder of his old life.
So, how did Frank first react to being trapped on Home? Did he resist like the Selkei OC? Was he tricked into transforming, or did he he know what the potion was for? How long has he been on the island?
(This has nothing to do with anything you've already shared. Just a 'what if' that's been bouncing around in my head)
If Sally had gone on one of her killing sprees while a neighbor-- lets say Eddie-- was trying to woo someone from the mainland, would there have been a way for her to know that, hey, maybe leave that one grey nerd alone?
Thank you so much for the kind words! I really love folklore and I thought finfolk folklore was just perfect for the kind of writing I want to experiment with. :)
Frank had knowingly came to the island with Eddie and actually willingly allowed himself to be transformed. It was from curiosity but mainly done because he loves Eddie enough to give up his old life as a marine biologist. Even though he does miss some parts of his previous life, he wouldn't change what he has now. It's because of this that Home and the others didn't even try to force Frank to stay, they already knew he never wanted to leave any of them to begin with.
So of course, he won't run, not ever. Not when the love of his life and best friends are here.
It took time to get used to things, yes, but it was worth it in the end. Something that Frank found to be intriguing was not only the magical abilities of finfolk, but also the many forms they could take on. For example, he and the others could take on any face, shape, or form of another puppet, sometimes even making a whole now identity unique to themselves...but when it came to being in a finfolk form only finwomen could transform themselves into what look like mermaids. Full tail and everything. Finmen could only grow fins along their bodies.
The magic that Frank was allowed to use wasn't his own. Only true finfolk could use their own magic so he had to 'borrow' Home's magic in the form of a seashell. He always kept the shell clipped to his bowtie or vest whenever he wore it. It not only allowed him to use some magic (it was weak, but it got the job done when used), but it looked quite fitting with his outfit.
He likes to visit the mainland with Eddie sometimes even if he no longer lives there. It felt so nice to see new and old faces pass by. Frank also loved to revisit the places that Eddie often takes him to for dates. It was truly a dream.
It was almost funny really.
Back when Frank was just a normal puppet he honestly thought Sally was going to kill him or Eddie as either a jealous ex or some murderer wandering the streets. The yellow star had been caught stalking the both of them and on one night while he was alone, she came to him talking about how head over heels Eddie was in love.
"You know, it'd be a shame if something were to happen to you...poor Dear would be heartbroken."
The finwomen examined her claws while speaking, it left Frank terrified and unsure of his own safety, he was not quite understanding if whether or not Sally was a fiend or a siren judging by her finned head and arms. Either way she looked ready to kill something. It wasn't going to be him though.
Turns out Sally just had a sick sense of humor or she tended to word things poorly. She had really just showed up to make sure Frank remained safe for the night after Eddie had some business to take care of.
It took a few minutes of awkward silence for Frank to realize Sally wasn't here to kill him. Of course she clarified what she meant only after Frank had the third panic attack that night. She had a good laugh about it and he had a good pout about it.
Frank isn't upset about it anymore really. If anything, he's glad Sally showed up the way she did otherwise he never would have found out about finfolk or what Eddie really was. Even when he did find out he wasn't mad, disgusted, or upset. He was curious, intrigued, and falling deeper in love for his fin man.

My part of the DCMK Fanworks Server Halfiversary Exchange 2023! For @blenderfullasarcasm!
I decided to follow the Yu-Gi-Oh! and DCMK crossover prompt, which specifically highlighted "Season 0," the colloquial name for the first anime adaptation of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga. So, I paired Detective Conan (and the eensy-littlest bit of Magic Kaito) footage with that anime's theme song, "A Yell of Thirst" by Field of View.
For as long as I've known about it, I've had my own soft spot for the Season 0 series. The portrayal of Yami Yugi as this frightening, malicious personality who emerges only in times of danger gripped me—and still does. Revisiting the series for this project, I could still so strongly recall scenes of Yugi and his friends grappling with his mysterious "other self."
And I also realized that maybe Detective Conan and Yu-Gi-Oh! are more similar than I previously thought. After all, couldn't "Sleeping Kogoro" also be described as a frightening, malicious personality who emerges only in times of danger?
(Or, more in line with the actual video I edited, Conan is "another Shinichi" who both terrifies and helps him, a dynamic perhaps not so unlike that of Yugi and Yami Yugi in Season 0.)
I hope you enjoy what I came up with! My goal was to utilize clips featuring every character and relationship noted in the prompts, and though an AMV can't exactly be a casefic or delve into worldbuilding per se, I also tried to capture the spirit of those prompts, too, including more actual detective-ing and backgrounds than I ever have in my Conan AMVs before. Huge shout out goes to @dcmk-scenery, an absolutely fantastic resource who were a tremendous help, as well as the Detective Conan World wiki, which definitely led me to clips from episodes I haven't even seen yet! The English translation of the lyrics are also courtesy of the Yu-Gi-Oh! wiki.
As a final note, though I know the requirement for the exchange was a 15-second AMV, I really wanted to make my gift special; Blender is so kind and does so much for the DCMK community, including setting up this event in the first place! I'm so glad I was able to to be a part of this, and I hope my final result brings joy.
This AMV can also be watched on YouTube in full 1080p and with subtitles that can be toggled on and off. Sources used are:

Emerie 💜 - Where she was, where she is now
Emerie was one of the most prominent characters in ACOSF and she's extremely underrated, this is why I wanted to post this detailed summary of when we first meet her to where she is now.
Trigger warning: this post will discuss domestic abuse and death of a parent as it's part of Emerie's past.
**A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT**
We first meet Emerie in A Court of Frost and Starlight in Chapter 8 (Cassian's POV).
The slender young female behind the pine counter was already standing still. Watching him.
Cassian noticed the scars on her wings first. The careful, brutal scars down the center tendons.
Nausea roiled in his gut, even as he offered a smile and strode toward the polished coun-ter. Clipped. She'd been clipped.
"I'm looking for Proteus," he said, meeting the female's brown eyes. Sharp and shrewd.
Taken aback by his presence, but unafraid.
Her dark hair was braided simply, offering a clear view of her tan skin and narrow, angular face. Not a face of beauty, but striking.
Interesting.
Her eyes did not lower, not in the way Illyrian females had been ordered and trained to do. No, even with the clipping scars that proved traditional ways ran brutally deep in her family, she held his stare.
It reminded him of Nesta, that stare. Frank and unsettling.
Proteus was Emerie's father who died during the War against Hybern in ACOWAR. He was wealthy enough to open a his own shop and was known to be a decent warrior. However, the scars on Emerie's wings was proof enough to Cassian that her father might be a decent warrior, but not a decent person.
Emerie introduced herself to Cassian as the shop owner and Cassian was impressed by her unfaltering stance and determination to run the shop despite the fact that it would have gone to any male relatives of Proteus since she was his only daughter.
Cassian kept drawing comparisons between Nesta and Emerie and this gave us a good idea that if the two had met, they'll likely be a force to be reckoned with.
"Fire in those words. Emerie would make the families take them, whether they them,
wanted to or not.
He'd seen that fire before- and the steel.
He half wondered what might happen if the two of them ever met. What might come of it."
Cassian hands over delivery money and asks Emerie to help those in need since a storm is about to hit Windhaven. She mentions to him many in this camp don't like her but she will do her best to deliver it to those in need.
**A COURT OF SILVER FLAMES**
Emerie makes her first ACOSF appearance in Chapter 9 through Nesta's POV when Nesta shows up at her shop, and that marked their first meeting.
One of the first things Nesta makes a note of about Emerie is she could possibly have a recent ancestor from another region, possibly the Dawn Court.
Nesta and Emerie immediately clicked. Nesta was impressed by Emerie enough to admit there was steel in the female.
Chapter 25 marks Emerie's second appearance when Nesta revisits her shop. It was also the first time Nesta encounters Emerie's awful cousin, Bellius.
Bellius showed up drunken at Emerie's with a message from his father about the ownership of the shop which Emerie is determined to keep. Emerie admits to Nesta she gets these little visits from her uncle's family every now and then.
Emerie was kind enough to offer Nesta to have lunch with her and they both started to get to know to each other better from then on. Nesta finds Emerie's dishes delicious and Emerie tells Nesta that she grows her own vegetables and she seems a big fan of spices which are in short supply at Illyria.
Emerie shares part of her past with Nesta telling her that her Mother died giving birth to her (which we later on know the truth of it), she had an older brother who died in a skirmish between war bands ten years before she was born, and her father died in the War against Hybern. She has no other family members except her father's family who try to claim his shop and his wealth as their own, despite it being rightfully Emerie's since Rhysand changed the inheritance laws to include females.
From Emerie's questions about traveling, Nesta came to the conclusion that Emerie was unhappy at Windhaven. She asks if she would ever move away and Emerie says that she never left the village and where would she go? she knows people at Windhaven at least.
Emerie also tells Nesta that she often adds willow bark to her tea to help her with her pains since her wings (the scars) sometimes hurt like an old wound.
It was at this chapter Nesta offers Emerie to join their training, which Emerie rejects at first. In Chapter 27, Cassian delivers a gift from Nesta to Emerie containing six different types of spices. The gift was also partly given in kindness and to try and sway Emerie to join training. At the end of the chapter, Emerie finally showed up to training and the rest is history.
Throughout the book, Emerie develops a close bond to Nesta and Gwyn. They at first start to bond over romance novels, especially Sellyn Drake's novels even while training.
Emerie admits to Cassian that it wasn't the healers who clipped her own wings, it was her father and she fought him which made his clipping even sloppier. She rejects Cassian's offer to have Madja check on her wings. Cassian was considerate enough to work with Emerie one-on-one on her balance and mobility after he instructs Nesta and Gwyn on their own exercises since Emerie is far behind.
Emerie quickly picked up on the hot tension between Cassian and Nesta and often teases Nesta endlessly about it.
One of the nicknames Emerie picked if she owned a sword was "Foe Slayer".
Emerie was the first trainee to try and cut the ribbon. She obviously failed.
At Chapter 26, Nesta was surprised to find Emerie lingering at the library even though it's been hours since their training finished. Emerie said she wanted to see where Gwyn and Nesta work, her eyes were still on Mor and Clotho.
Emerie nods at Mor's direction and admits how she always forgets how beautiful Mor is and that Mor never comes to Windhaven these days, which could indicate that Emerie makes a note of how many times Mor shows up at the village. Nesta noticed Emerie's cheeks turning pink at that. Nesta had to call out Emerie who still had her gaze on Mor to walk out.
At the same scene when they stopped at level 5, Emerie's face paled and she swears to Nesta that she can hear her father screaming at her and the sounds of furniture breaking from the darkness below. It was later revealed to Nesta that the darkness was showing Nesta, Emerie, and all those priestesses all those dark, broken pieces because it was the same as them.
At Winter Solstice, we learn that Emerie feels an obligation to visit her awful family during solstices despite Nesta inviting her to spend it at the River House with them.
During the Blood Rite, Emerie bares the truth of her tragic past and what was done to her and to her mother.
Emerie's father constantly subjected her mother to physical abuse and it gotten to a point where he beat her mother so badly and she died. He even made Emerie dig her mother's grave at night. He told everyone else she died because of a miscarriage.
He never laid a hand on Emerie until her mother was gone, mostly because her mother shielded her from him. He beat Emerie once so badly that he had broken her back and kept her in bed for weeks. That was not the only instance, Emerie still feels the impact of him slamming her head into the wall, or crunching her fingers in a door, or just hitting her until she blacked out.
Yet the sad part was everyone in the village always believed him because of his charming persona and they told Emerie how lucky she is to have such a father to the point she started to think if she imagined all the abuse she was subjected to. Her scars remind her of the reality of it.
He never let her have her own money or allow her to earn her own. He never let her eat more than what he deemed appropriate. She can still hear him whenever she looks into the mirror or make a mistake.
When he died she felt so happy that the nightmare was over yet people expected her to mourn him.
She came to training because she knew he would have forbidden it. She came to training to get his voice out of her head. She came to training to stop any male of ever putting another hand on her even though it would never make things right for her for the fact that she hid while her father beat her mother.
And for her mother, Emerie scaled the summit and faced the breaking.
For her mother, Emerie became the first Illyrian female in history to become a Valkyrie and a Carynthian warrior.
.
.
I wanted to share this detailed summary of Emerie's story and to remind readers of what a wonderful and resilient character she is.
I'm hopeful about Emerie's journey in the future, and I really hope she will be able to move away from her hateful relatives and see the world alongside Nesta and Gwyn. I hope she finds the love she deserves and maybe her and Mor could find love and healing together. I hope the Illyrian females see her as a beacon of hope that they can become more than obedient wives and daughters they are molded into, that they are capable of becoming more than that and dream bigger.
This was a long one I had to do my girl justice 🫶🏼
I'm also re-sharing along this post one the favorite art pieces I commissioned representing Emerie's journey 💜
Reminder: Emerie Appreciation Week is happening on 12th-18th November.

A smattering of general updates:
I played Tears of the Kingdom. I didn't really enjoy it. I understand why it was popular though; I'm just not the demographic for these types of video games anymore. I didn't find it creatively rewarding and after a time I sat there thinking 'I would rather be writing right now', and since then I have learnt that writing is made easier by doing things which are not writing, because it makes me miss it. My dad also doesn't really like it but for some reason has played hundreds of hours in it. I don't know either - I think he will take anything called Zelda at this point.
I spectated the Doctor Who David Tennant Special and watched some clips of the new season. I'm not a fan of RTD, and not a DW fan anymore (not for a long time), but it was an interesting study in how studios try to attract old and new fans.
I read a lot of books, and that lie people tell you about all books being good for you is a lie, because a cyberpunk anthology of short stories made me so angry I got heartburn. I think people who say that are saying so because they wish that they could read a lot, in which case I say, yes I think reading is a gift and we should engage with it, however, sometimes I get so physically angry from something stupid/bad I've read because bad writers exist that it gives me actual pain. I am reading Howl's Moving Castle right now and it's very joyful; I am very surprised by the liberties the animated film took! However so far I do think both experiences are worthwhile, and if you enjoyed the Ghibli film, I very much recommend checking out the original book if you want to revisit that world again. The prose is straightforward but a little whimsical, and Howl is very, very funny. I have laughed aloud a few times.
Well, you know I rewatched Dark, and it's funny that during my exile I said 'this is like if RWBY got the ending it deserves' and then, er, I found out it's not renewed yet, and that's still up in the air, which for the entirety of RWBY I have only had one true moment of doubt of such a thing, and that was a while ago.
On that topic, yes, I still ship Jaune/Cinder, believe Cinder's redemption is likely, etc., although there are some more external concerns I would wager now than before. Before I thought it very possible to do without any commercial influence, and it depends what compromises they do or don't end up making or having already made. My analysis of Jaune's arc in V9 may not hold water as much (e.g. if you lean towards the view there were rewrites to cater to growing the audience, or perhaps it's two ideas married? I'm not sure) so I'm going to think about it more, and there always has been a tension in RWBY between what is being expected/baited and what is foreshadowed/said/actually happens.
I figured out how to write again and what was blocking me, so there's that. To talk about it a bit more, since my break I have worked every single day on writing. My key takeaways are that you need a delicate balance of delusion and self-doubt to get anything done - you don't know you can do something until you actually do it - and every excuse I invented for not writing was not the reason I was not writing. I can write with a migraine beginning to set in on an uncomfortable desk where I can't even rest my elbows properly on the end of a bed with no back support without aircon in the middle of summer before I've even taken my hair out from bedtime plaits in my pyjamas. I didn't even expect to get my fic done right before midnight, actually I was like 'well lol that's not going to happen, I'll write anyway though, fuck New Year's' because I wasn't doing anything, and then I finished and looked at the time and was like ooooh. I actually completed my goal! So I'm very proud of that. Anyway writing is breathing, to me, I go crazy if I don't do it, no matter what it is, and every single piece of nonsense advice of productivity was not helpful, ever, but I did figure it out. Also admittedly I got a fire burning under me again because I found out I was actually right about Raven, in which case I took that as a sign from heaven I was on the right track. One should hope.
I am excited about Dune Part Two, yes, although I am trying to avoid Villeneuve talking about the film because I know all the marketing is basically directed at people who aren't Dune fans, and I have to see it for myself to see what it's worth. I enjoyed the first film, and Villeneuve seems excited to direct Dune Messiah, in which case I am willing to do whatever possible to make that happen. Because that's about as complete a story you're going to get in a major motion picture adaptation and it would be So Fucking Good.

Very unsure if you saw what was happening with Baghera and the mistranslation that spread with her, Antoine and a few other FR CCs (I don’t remember who else was in the convo, I think Mythos was there, but very very unsure my apologies :(( ). But after viewing the clip and revisiting the topic several times on my own, the “joke”/“comment” to add a translator to TDLSMP if they revamp the server wasn’t supposed to be in a negative light and was most likely a positive call back to the translator feature of QSMP. Which, ngl, would be awesome to see happen cause I (and probably many others) would love to view more French content become widely accessible with translation plugins.
People heavily took it out of context due to the english updates fan account for Bagz due to the admins of the account only clipping that section of the conversation and adding “/j” to Baghera’s comment about a translator, which was in bad taste, especially since there was no context added nor explanation as to what they were actually referring to in the clipped section. And due to the mass hate and/or confusion of many viewers, the updates account ultimately removed it (I went back several times to verify if it was in the account and if they had added context but saw that it was just scrapped and removed with no further explanation).
After the events of the mistranslation from the updates account, plus Baghera even coming onto twitter to explain herself, many French fans took their time to explain what happened properly (I gratefully thank them for this cause it actually helped many who were confused about the mistranslation from the updates account) and a space was even made by Spanish speaking fans to further explain the error that was created from the mistranslation with the help of a French viewer named Dune, and the host of the space even tried to mellow out any angry listeners with the saying "All the CCs are friends, stop assuming the worst and any issues that they have with each other is sorted behind closed doors. We don't know them, they know each other better than we as viewers do because they are friends." [Rough translation of what the host said but hopefully I stated it clearly]
All-in-all, unfortunate circumstances occurred thanks to mistranslation, but a majority of the community is trying to be better and actually hear each other out, but sadly the minority that is full of blind hate is the loudest and puts down the worst image for the rest. :( -Anon 💫
OH YES I SAW THAT AND I SURE WISH I DIDNT 😭
I couldn’t believe people were upset about that, even if it had been a joke it’s not even like it was anything bad or negative ?
Just a full on hate train on Baghera for saying it would be great to have a translator if they ever brought their smp back. Don’t even wanna discuss what was said about her and other french ccs because it’s just disgusting. The fact that french qsmptwt users had to go around trying to explain to everyone that it wasn’t anything bad and that people shouldn’t harass baghera for it, especially when you have no context/don’t know the language…. I wouldn’t have that kind of patience 🫡
Only good thing is that it gave me the opportunity to feed my blocklist /hj
And that once again seeing the great Frasil alliance in action made me so happy 🇧🇷🫂🇫🇷
Isn’t it nice to see that when the admins situation isn’t enough to drive away all ccs and fans alike, the Quackity fans will make sure to make the qsmp space inhabitable for anyone who stayed ! /sarc Between this and the bullying of Sunny’s admin two days ago they sure are on a run lately.
Note : If anyone is confused about what TDLsmp is, it’s the name fans came up with to talk about a minecraft server Antoine, Baghera, Etoiles and others french ccs played on for a little while I think two years ago ?
TDL means Team du Lundi aka Monday Team, and it refers to their friend group who stream every monday together on different multiplayer games (Lethal Company, Worms, Golf Gang, and many many more).
The server was vanilla and just a way to play Minecraft together, nothing special really, but it was very very fun to watch ! And so yesterday they talked about the possibility of it returning, but modded this time, and maybe with a translator so their international viewers can watch and understand it !
If you’re interested :
Baghera’s vods :
Antoine’s best of (if you wanna catch up quickly by watching only the best moments) :
Etoiles’ vods :
