Hi!! I’m new to the Haikyuu fandom but Kageyama is my favorite so far!! Can you do numbers 20 and 24 with him please? Thank you in advance! 🧡🖤
Haikyuu!! Prompt list trial
HQ!! Prompt list
Thanks for requesting! I’m also fairly new to the Haikyuu fandom <3
The other requests are in the works, they might just take a bit longer bc I’m swamped with school stuff! Happy reading :D
Words: 2400+
Warnings: possible weight trigger?, Kags calls you heavy 😔
Pairing: Kageyama Tobio x FEM!reader
Prompt(s): 20- "I didn't mean it like that, I was trying to... tease you. That's what you do, right? When you have feelings?" & 24- "don't leave me here with her/them!"
The mind of Kageyama was mostly a mystery; his skull hollow with a few volleyballs bouncing around. He wasn't the smartest to say the least— Have you seen his report card?
So, when his heart pumped 10x faster than when he was on the court when he was around you, he only thought he wasn't feeling well that day. Next was his voice; constantly stuttering for no apparent reason when he was chatting with you. Kageyama had not a clue what was going on with him until Tanaka spoke up for him, asking how long Kageyama was going to wait before asking you out. The boy in question just wrinkled his nose and went to toss another ball to an energetic redhead.
Nishinoya and Tanaka cornered the unsuspecting setter in the club room, trapping him with their looming auras. Kageyama only stared at them quizzically for a moment before a phone was shoved in his face.
"Look, dude, check out this article!" Tanaka grinned, raising his eyebrows.
"Is it about volleyball?" Kageyama asked as he threw on his uniform.
"No—"
"—don't wanna look at it then," Kageyama interrupted his upperclassmen, grabbing his bag and hoisting it over his shoulder.
"C'mon bro!" Argued Nishinoya, blocking the door with pure physics, clinging to the frame, "we just wanna help you get with y/n! This Wiki article will save you from your lack of social awareness around her."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kageyama mumbled, glancing at the phone pointed at him. It was titled: 'How to Flirt with Girls'. Now, he wasn't necessarily considering reading it, but it was tempting. "Why d'you want me to flirt with y/n? She's my friend."
"She's your crush is what she is. Are you really too dense to realize your feelings?" Tanaka said. "Actually- yeah. You are. Here, I'll text you the link."
Later that night when Kageyama was trying to sleep, his mind wandered in circles thinking about his feelings towards you. He didn't think he had time to develop a crush, but here he was pulling up his phone to check the link his upperclassman sent him. He squinted at the bright WikiHow screen, and scrolled down to read the captions. He glanced at the first three options, not really reading (or caring) about 'don't forget to smile!' and 'don't cross your arms'.
The only title that caught his eye was 'Tease Her'. Kageyama knew how to do that; it was easy. He did it with Hinata all the time! He blushed just thinking about making you flustered, a wish that he didn't know he had until tonight. He didn't bother with reading the rest of the article, feeling confident in himself that he knew what to do. He threw his phone back onto his nightstand and cuddled into his bedsheets, grinning wildly.
Tobio didn't know what he was getting into when he asked Tanaka and Nishinoya about the skill of teasing. He had only wanted a few pointers from the 'pros', and some advice on what to do after you were charmed by him.
"Oh ho ho!" Tanaka said excitedly, waving his hands around as he ranted. "Make sure to insult her playfully, but always tell her how beautiful she is afterwards! Oh, and don't forget about the lingering touches! Girls love that stuff, trust me."
Kageyama nodded along, turning to Nishinoya, "don't forget to smile! Girls love sweet smiles~."
The raven haired boy was practically buzzing with anticipation as he waited at the table he usually ate at with you, desperate to try out his new flirting techniques. He smiled at you, something he usually did but he tried making it brighter. He felt his chest bubble when you raised your eyebrows at him, giving a cute smile in return.
You were wondering what the hell was up with Kageyama. You knew he wasn't the best at smiling, but when he flashed his teeth it was just downright creepy. You tried not to laugh as you sat beside him, pulling out your lunch to sit on the table in front of you. A huff left your lips as Tobio snatched away your bento, raising it above his head with a playful smirk.
"Kageyama-kun," you raised a brow playfully. "You want me to starve or something?"
"Just watching your weight," he replied, grin still plastered on his face.
You deadpanned at him, giving him a scowl, "don't say stuff like that, it makes me feel like shit."
"You're still p-pr-er, P-p-pretty in my eyes," your friend stammered, his stance wavering. You lazily tried to grab your lunch back, but Tobio's long arms kept it out of your reach.
You sighed, giving him a teasing grin before reaching out and tickling his armpit. He choked out a laugh and your bento fell out of his hand, and you caught it. Kageyama gave you a frustrated pout and watched as you ate your food.
"Serves you right for calling me fat," you said through a mouthful, cringing at your manners, "that wasn't very nice."
"You're only heavy because of your muscle," Kageyama said, propping a fist on his cheek, "you'd be good at serving." You looked at him quizzically, trying to figure out what was up with him today.
"Y-your clothes look cool today," Tobio offered, trying to keep up with his 'flirtatious' act.
"... dude I literally wear the same thing every day. Y'know, my uniform," now you were really confused. Was he messing with you? Or was he just being his usual weird self?
A blush creeped onto his face and he looked away, burring his face in his own lunch. You ate in an odd silence, occasionally catching Kageyama taking glances at you.
"Y-you're, erm, very..." Tobio trailed off, refusing to look at you. His face was red with embarrassment and he stared at his empty lunchbox, tapping his fingers on the table rhythmically.
"Go on~," you pressed, glaring holes in his head.
Kageyama perked up suddenly, putting an arm around your shoulders, "you look heavy, let me hold it for you. Wait—."
"Ok, dude. What's up with you?!" You were getting pissed now, and you quickly packed up your bento. "I'm going to my class early."
Before he could stop you, you peeled his arm from your body and sped walked away into a bathroom. Kageyama blushed in frustration, cursing at his stupid twisted tongue. He couldn't believe he messed up the simplest pick up line, the one that Nishinoya had taught him. Maybe Tsukishima was right, he was going to scare you off before he could make a proper move. He groaned angrily into his hands and shoved his lunch container into his bag, huffing down the hall to get to his class.
You sunk down into your seat, trying not to let the interaction with Kageyama rule your mind. Was was up with him today? You thought. He was usually odd, but not this odd. You laid out your things in front of you and organized them to distract yourself. You slightly jumped at the sound of the first bell, and you heard the hallway outside start to get louder with footsteps and laughing chatter.
"Hi y/n-san!" Yamaguchi said, and you looked up at him.
"Hey," you mumbled.
"What's got you all grouchy?" Tsukishima chuckled as he sat by his desk beside yours.
"I'm sorry," you sighed, "Kageyama-kun was just being a dick during lunch."
"What'd he do?" Yamaguchi asked, sitting in his seat behind you. He gathered his notebook and pencil case.
"He was being really weird. Er, weirder than normal," you started. "He tried holding me back from my lunch and he basically called me fat. But then he said I was heavy because I had so much muscle? Which doesn't even make sense, and then he said I'd be good at setting which is— I mean ok?"
Tsukishima snickered from beside you as he opened his binder, and Yamaguchi blushed a little at his teammate's actions.
"And then he told me that my clothes looked nice. My uniform clothes, that I wear every day," you puzzled almost to yourself, forgetting that your friends were listening to your rant. "Oh, he also said like, I dunno, a pickup line or something? He said that 'I looked heavy and he wanted to hold 'it'' whatever the hell he was supposed to mean by that."
Tsukki had to shove a hand over his mouth to keep himself from combusting into boisterous laughter, Yamaguchi doing the same. You frowned and rolled your eyes, turning to look at the board as the second bell rang.
"The idiot's got a crush on you," Tsukishima spilled, chest shaking from the aftershocks of his laughter.
"W-wha—," you started.
"—Tsukki!" Yamaguchi interrupted. "You told me that you weren't gonna mess with Kageyama-kun's relationships!"
Tsukishima just shrugged before turning to the board, your eyes bulging at him. "He fucking what—."
"I know!" Tsukishima smirked, "I didn't think he had any emotion for anything but volleyball."
You opened your mouth to reply, but got cut off by your teacher. You frowned as you set up your notes, messily writing your name and the date. Kageyama's actions now made sense to you, knowing how awkward he is in expressing his feelings.
After class as you walked down the hall, Tsukishima sported a sly grin. You eyed him quizzically, not trusting the look in his eyes. He smirked harder at your glance and chuckled.
"I have a plan," the blonde said, pushing up his glasses. "I'm gonna shove Kageyama in the equipment room with you."
"And so I get a say in this at all?" You pressed, glaring playfully at him.
"Well, what do you say?" He asked.
"I say yes," you said, Yamaguchi facepalming at your response.
You followed the two boys down to the gym where they practiced, and waited by the door until Yamaguchi gave you the clear that no one was there yet except for the third years. Tsukishima led you to the double doors of the equipment room and you took a step inside the dark room, turning on your flashlight.
"If you hear an even three knocks, open the door immediately," you ordered, shaking slightly. "Incase he does something... weird," you faltered slightly, and Yamaguchi nodded quickly.
"Whatever," the tall blonde in front of you said, "just get in before he comes in the gym— oh, he's here."
The door was closed suddenly, and you were left alone with only your phone flashlight to protect you. You took a deep breath as you heard voices outside the heavy doors, trying to regulate your heartbeat. What were you doing? What was your plan after he gets trapped inside? The doors opened and filled the room with light for a brief moment before the space was consumed in darkness once again.
"Hey!" You heard Kageyama yell beside you, pounding on the door, "what the hell?!"
You laid a gentle hand on his shoulder and he whipped around to slap you away, faltering when he realized it was you. His eyes widened and he was glad you couldn't see the blush that flourished on his face. Kageyama was silent for a few moments before hammering at the door again.
"Guys! Don't leave me here with her!" He panicked when you pulled his hands away from the doors, and he went quiet.
"Calm down, Kageyama-kun," you stifled a giggle. "You're only here so you can apologize to me."
"W-what?" He stuttered, body going stiff.
"Just say sorry for offending me," you shrugged. His eyes were glued to the floor, hands still trapped by your grip.
"I- I thought... I didn't mean it like that, I was trying to... tease you. That's what you do, right? When you have feelings?" Kageyama's blush crawled across his whole face all the way to the tips of his ears and he squeezed his eyes shut, terrified of what your next words were going to be.
"So you do have a crush on me," you pondered, loosening your hold on his wrists. The boy in front of you snapped his hands to his sides and anxiously squeezed his fists.
"How...?" Kageyama held his breath, as if afraid of your answer.
"Hmm, a little birdie told me~," you teased, running a finger down his chest. His breath hitched in his throat and a shiver ran down his spine when he felt your hot breath whisper onto his ear, "I'm still waiting for your apology."
"I'm s-sor-sorry for what I s-said at lunch today..." Kageyama stammered, rubbing his arm awkwardly.
"I accept your apology!" You smiled and went in for a hug, crushing his arms to his sides. "Meet me after practice near the vending machines~," you murmured playfully.
"—what are you guys doing?!" Daichi's muffled yell came through the door. "You can't just trap people in there!"
Kageyama tensed and he tried to pull away, but you held him closer. The bright light from the gym poured into the small room, illuminating all of the equipment and yourselves.
"Are you oka— oh," Daichi cut himself off, eyes widening at the sight of a girl hugging his underclassman. You peaked at him over Kageyama's shoulder and gave a shy smile, pulling away slowly.
"Bye, Tobio-chan," you adjusted your bag and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "See you after your practice."
The group of boys watched in silence as you skipped your way out the gym door, too shocked to say anything. Kageyama's face grew hotter and he reached up to touch where you kissed him. He felt like he was going to pass out.
"Kageyamaaaaa!!" Hinata yelled, shaking his friend viciously, "was that your girlfriend?! Why didn't you tell us you had one?! She's so pretty! Why does she even like you?!"
"Chill out Hinata-kun," Daichi said sternly, pulling the redhead away by the back of his shirt. "Kageyama-kun, be ready for practice in five."
Tobio nodded slowly, his hand still on his cheek in bewilderment. He was too excited to tell Hinata off, completely blocking out his friend. He couldn't wait for practice to end.

@vixen-uchiha @mochinek0 @kuroko26 @mewwitch @iglowinggemma28
@zazzlejazzle tbh I would love to see your similar au! Don’t be discouraged that I jotted down my stuff first in a fit of work induced rage. I would love to see your version of it, so go for it! (Also thank you so much for your kind words I’m just kinda happy crying over them. You’re so sweet!)
@mylife-demonstrates-murphys-law As long as you link back to the idea/give credit, I have no problem with you doing something with this au! Honestly I would be super duper excited to see somebody else turn their hand to this story, especially because I don’t really have any plans to continue it seriously lol. If you DO end up doing something with it, please tag/link me too it, I would love to see what you do with it!
... And y’know in the interest of actually finishing this bc there WAS a whole part of the au i was too tired to keep writing (what happens with Lila/Marinette’s Parents/etc) I figured I’d write it out now, especially since there seems to be so much interest in this!
Because the idea was that both Batman AND Damien (as his civilian self) sue Lila into the ground. She’s also charged with being an accessory to kidnapping and what have you since she knew Marinette was missing and kept lying and saying otherwise. Lila gets send to jail and tried as an adult bc seriously. She was responsible for the kidnapping and torture of another classmate, and no matter how young you are that’s just. So fucked up. Consequences for Lila please and thank you.
As for Marinette’s parents, they absolutely know what’s going on. They’re contacted by the Gotham Police, as well as the French Embassy, there’s lots of apologies from both but neither of them give one single shit. They shut down the bakery and go to Gotham to see Marinette in Arkham and they’re just... devastated. They knew things in school weren’t great, but their daughter didn’t want to transfer and maybe if they had pushed the issue this wouldn’t have happened. Their poor little girl...
Marinette, is, honestly, a little terrified to see them. Because this was never supposed to happen. Not to her. And she knows they’ll blame herself but its nobody’s fault but hers. (Its nobody’s fault but LILA’S but its gonna take some serious therapy and reminders for that to stick.) Mari is happy to see them when they do first show up but insists that they should go back to Paris and take care of the Bakery. She doesn’t want them to see her like this. Bruce Wayne, of course, offers to cover the cost of any trips, extended or short, for the Dupain-Cheng family so they can see their daughter as they wish... .Honestly they probably just end up staying at Wayne Manor with everybody else until Mari comes to stay with everybody when Arkham deems her ‘not a threat to herself or anybody else.’
And as far as the class goes, they also get charged with some things. Nothing as serious as Lila, and they certainly don’t do any jail time, but still. They were partially responsible for what happened to Marinette. For Alya it still takes some time that Marinette wasn’t akumatized so there’s no quick fix to what happened. And that she, believing Lila over Marinette, helped ensure this happened to her best friend. She’s just so angry, at herself, at Lila, at the world. This isn’t fair!
But life has never been fair.
Honestly the whole class is pretty shaken up about it. It can be up to you guys where they go with it.
Now, honestly, I didn’t think at ALL what the city of Paris would think of this! And there’s no way they don’t find out what happens. I mean, Marinette babysits for Nadja fucking Chamac, who seems to be one of the only news reporter in Paris, or at least the most popular. Once she hears what happens, vaguely, from Sabine and Tom, after she calls them to see if Marinette can babysit Manon, she goes full deep dive into the story. And, after checking in with the Dupain-Cheng’s, airs the story to all of Paris. Everyone hears how Miss Busteir’s class had a hand in one of their own being kidnapped by Gothams (former) Clown Prince of Crime. They hear about how Chat Noir killed him after coming onto the scene. (Nobody thinks too hard about why he was there.) There’s mixed feelings about how and why a teenager had to do this but the overwhelming agreement is that the bastard had it coming. The video of Marionette!Mari is taken down but the internet is forever. Despite any names not given, the people of Paris still figure out what happened. Mari gets a lot of encouraging fanmail and gifts sent to Arkham that get filtered by her parents. She gets to look at letters and such while she’s still at the asylum but gifts wait until she’s at Wayne Manor.
(Also insert Jagged Stone and Clara Nightingale doing all SORTS of fundraising and outreach so something like this doesn’t happen again. Any and all proceeds from their concerts or merch for the next few months goes to pay for Mari’s treatment and supporting the Dupain-Cheng’s afloat while they help Mari heal form what happen. They also slap some lawsuits to Lila bc she LIED ABOUT THEM AND ALSO GOT MARINETTE IN THIS SITUATION. FUCK THIS GIRL.)
... Also, the huge news coverage is also probably how Fu finds out what happens and he’s just. horrified. Immediately drops everything to come to Gotham and help. Has his own meltdown. Its like, vaguely known that Mari knows Fu, but they didn’t realize they were so close. But lets be real they don’t care, since Mari is so happy to see him.
And as far as Marinette breaking through the Jokers... whatever you’d like to call it. Its a combination of being with Joker for a week less than Tim was, as well as just. She knows Chat Noir. They’re partners. Two halves of a whole, if you think of their Miraculi. He’s always been there to help her even if he got caught by the villain. Though this time, their usual roles are reversed. And she just knows that Chat is going to save her. There’s a lot of Chat trying to get Mari (ngl he calls her Princess and Mari alternatively for the entire conversation) to remember that this isn’t who she is! She’s their everyday Ldaybug! Please, Princess! Mari, please...
(Also just. Watch this scene of Robin killing the Joker. Christ. This is, in essence, what happens with Marinette and Adrien, though Adrien’s the one to kill Joker once Mari tires herself out with her breakdown.)
Now, I’m going to be honest, I don’t plan on continuing this au! This was mostly a one/two shot getting out some frustrations after a rough day and having an idea in a fit of wanting to strangle my co-workers. Now, if any of you would like to continue this au, please do so! Or, if its inspired you, go for it! Tag me either way, I’d love to see what you guys do with it.
#i want it known my kittens did not like me writing this and were constantly tumbling all over my keyboard and hands/arms while trying to#write this up. they eventually put themselves between me and my laptop and decided that was good enough (i usually write laying down lol)#maribat#miraculous ladybug#batman#marionette maribat au

Your doggy is lovely! You must've been very patient to train her so well! Can I ask what her backstory is?
TW TW TW ANIMAL ABUSE....like srsly if this sorta thing triggers you don’t read
It’s really sad and I hate thinking about it, but she was born in a dog fighting ring, and she’s a mix so she was going to be used as a bait dog (and the people there definitely abused her) she was around 6 months old at this point I believe) But, apparently some people there liked her (because she’s so naturally sweet I’d assume) and decided to “save her” ...but they obviously weren’t ready for a dog/knew nothing about having pets/ are pieces of shit themselves IN GENERAL (I’m getting angry now fjsksk) and couldn’t handle her so they kept her in a tiny ass cage literally all day to sit in her own piss and shit, and didn’t feed her nearly enough. Idk if there was any physical abuse going on at this point but I know they yelled at her a lot everytime she made a noise, thus why she’s non verbal and makes literally zero noise. As well, she was kept in a breezeway in the middle of winter with no heat or blankets or ANYTHING
So, we get into how I got her. Well...we didn’t adopt her from a shelter or anything. We uh.....well. Okay, my brothers friend knew these people and told him about the dog, and me, my brother and his fiancé were all pissed as hell. Apparently people had called the police before about the people and nothing had been done. So we kinda, yknow,..... stole her. LISTEN. Maybe there was better ways, but she was in the breezeway, shivering, starving, covered in piss and shit, and when I looked in and saw her I knew I couldn’t leave her for even a day more. The door was unlocked, so I walked in and took her. Just like that. (We learned all of this history from my brothers friend/he was these people’s neighbor and had brought the issue of the dog up to them before. He wanted to take her himself but couldn’t bc they would know) they never reported her stolen or posted about it to my knowledge.
We took her home and she was so so so sweet. But ofc a dog with a past like that came with a lot of issues. At this point she was probably a year and a half old. She was never potty trained, and was always scared, and when she finally got over being scared she was EXITEABLE, and by that I mean she was almost completely unmanageable. And ofc she has an obsession with food. There was honestly so many issues it would take a lot more writing to outline them all. Thankfully, somehow, aggression was never one of them. She’s great with kids, cats, and other dogs. My brother and his fiancé were not equipped to deal with it at all and wanted to rehome her (they thought it would be best) but I had already grown attached and I could see that with a lot of work she was capable of being an amazing dog and companion.
I was right, of course. That was two years ago and after A LOT of work, she’s really come a long way. I had to get the help of a local trainer and ofc advice and recommendations from my Vet (she had to be prescribed doggie anxiety pills for a while). She still has her days ofc....she still chews stuff up if I don’t have time to walk her, or gets into the trash. But that’s just normal dog stuff yknow? She’s so happy and healthy and it just warms my heart so much seeing her everyday. It honestly just blows my mind how SWEET she is. That after all that humans put her through she just LOVES people. If she could attached to your hip 24/7, she would. And even after starving for a good portion of her life, she still lets the cat eat out of her food bowl with her. Idk what made her so godamn SWEET, but I couldn’t ask for a better dog and she’s worth all the hard work and frustration I went through 100%
#mott txt#i teared up writing this i aint even gonna lie#tw// animal abuse#animal abuse#ofc it still effects her to this day#she doesnt like raised voices at all#she gets anxious and shakes a lot when i walk her if she gets overwhelmed#and the food is still very much an Issue#shes not food aggressive but shes deff food obsessed#tho being food oriented was instrumental in getting her trained

woah, its novemeber and i remember writing the holiday report posts in bio class after the holidays, then forgot to do the rest of it, which is okay however, that was a whilw ago but the quick recap is in week 5 i went to the netherlands which was partly really nice bc i hung with my homie there and partly really awful bc i. felt so dysphoric and lonely that i cried a lot and stared at the. wall or ran away from the restaurant once so no one would notice. overall i was happy to be gone from home tho and had a few happy moments, im really thankful for being able to go. since we both graduate next year, i hope the person i always meet there and me will see each other again at all. just one day after i went back home me and my friends left to go to a youuth hostel which was really just a fever dream. on the train ride there dipsy was anxious and nauseous all the time bc she gets like insanely scared of being late or anything. when we were there however we hung in the hostel, the food was okay(im a picky eater so that was a big worry) and we went to the store to get snacks and stuff to drink.the next day we tried to go to a nearby memorial, which didnt work bc we didnt get how the bus traffic worked at all, which is why we got really frustrated and me and dipsy wanted to gi home whilw pou wanted to keep trying and we just sorta went home pissed and did nothing afterwards and i was really depressed as soon as i had alone time and any thoughts passed my head. every "social break" we took, was sorta dipsys decision and she either went for a walk or watched shameless whilw pou slept and i listened to music and overthought. i didn't like them, but well come to that. im not quite sure anymore, but i think we went for a run afterwards which was really okay and then (after i almost had a breakdown over the community showers, but i lickily managed to shower when no one was there) went to dinner. i think during that as well as after pou started crying, which she did often (or had general emotional outbursts) which me and dipsy sometimws didn't know how to handle, for my part ir was especially because i was very deep inside my own problems and couldn't even care for myself. then we started drinking and after we got in a fight again we went for a huge walk in the middle of the night and i told them all the things ive never told noone before, like my eating issues and the stuff about my relation to men , and essentially all the stuff that happened with my ex bsf as well as every thing that happened with my dad and mom. (yeah, in the middle of the night, wasted, in a city weve never been before). i still dk how to feel abt that but they tried to understand, and pou told us about how she doesnt get along with her dad and about all the boys who were assholes towards. her. it was really,,, weird somehow how we just spilled everything we stfu about before all at once, I don't even know what else to say about that but it was just . a situation.
the next day we went to the city and ate pitza as well as got funny little drinks and walked around. in the evening we (for WHATEVER REASON) decided to walk to the memorial we couldnt get to before so we started going at like 11pm. however when we already walked for a bit dipsy said we should return bc its like totally unsafe and we could break our legs(bc the route was really leading up a hill and through a forest) and i was really mad bc we just decided altogether to go there, however i was so emotionally drained that i had no energy to really even argue. pou got really pissed as well and they argued whilw i felt like just disappearing tbh. we ended up going, on the way there i started crying and when they asked what was wrong i tried to explain how ive been feeling to drained and lonely all along and thought it would get better here but it didnr and i cant do this anymore ans they hugged me but didn't know what to say so we kept walking vut i couldnt stop crying and didnr wanna talk to them. the 2 of them tried talking out some of our conflicts, which wouldve been nice to see but i didnr partake bc all i wanted to do was die and idk tgose 1.5 hours we walked in the dark were a huge fever dream, all i didn was wish i was dead and cry my eyes out .whwn we got there it was cool, i managed to stop crying at some point. we literally walked back on a street without a side walk so wehad to jump into the bushes everytime there was a car, which was so weird and dipsy was so anxious about it and the conversations we had were really weird kinda and idk what the hell was up. we found a few books on the street which pou wanted to take with her but we thought it was creepy (and nowadays everything is a sex trafficking method,so...) so we talked her out of it and we got in a fight abt that and then we got into a fight about ehich time we should get up cus we had to check out at 9 am. like. whatever the next day dipsy was anxious throuufhtout the whole trip again but yeah we got home. that was our trip together and its the weirdest thing thats ever happened to me, i also feel like it wouldve wenr a lot different if all of use wozldve been in a better mental state, we always sorta fuck up hangouts when at least one of us is doing bad, it just really ruins it. but yeah we were home.

Expensive Taste // A.F.I
CEO!Y/N
a/n: I'm gonna make this quick bc my computer is not really cooperating but !!! my first ashton imagine!! ive had this idea forever but it took so long to write but here it is now!! I hope you like it!!
You jolted awake to the sound of your phone ringing loudly. You checked the clock. 4:50. You'd only been asleep for half an hour. You stood up, walking across the room to your desk where you left your phone, almost tripping over the black heels that you'd barely gotten off before falling into bed. After a particularly stressful day at work, all you wanted was to take a nap. You answered your phone with a slow and tired "hello?"
"Hey Y/N, it's me," Ashton said in a soft voice. He must've been able to tell you just woke up. "I'm on my way to my last class, then I'll be home. I have a lab report due in a week for physics so I might have to work on that tonight but we'll see."
Ash was in his last year of university at NYU and was graduating in May in two months with a degree in biochemistry. Recently, he'd had so much homework and studying he needed to do as he began to wrap up his courses. You couldn't be more proud of how hard he worked.
"Alright, I'll be here, probably napping. See you soon."
"See you. I love you."
"Love you too," you replied, rubbing your eyes, ready to go back to bed.
It was just then you had an idea.
You quickly put on jeans, a blouse, and some simple white heels and touched up your makeup. It seemed a bit much but seeing as you were a world renowned CEO, you knew you were going to be photographed from the second you left your large white house.
Grabbing a simple Coach backpack and the keys to your Audi, you headed out.
--
Your assumption had been correct, and you were followed by photographers all the way from your house into the city. It used to bother you, and still did on occasion, but you had mostly gotten used to it.
You walked into the Tom Ford boutique, flashes going off all around you. Using your hand, you tried to cover your face as best you could until you got through the door.
--
30 minutes later, you walked out with a black satin suit and about $5,500 less than you walked in with. As many times as Ashton told you he didn't want you spending money on him, you loved to do it anyways. You were a multimillionaire at 23, because of the fashion empire you'd been building since you were 19 years old, so you had money to spare.
"Y/N! Y/N, over here! Is this a suit for Ashton?"
"Y/N! Does Ashton know you spend so much money on him?"
"Where is he now? How does he feel about you wasting your earnings on him?"
Before you got back in the drivers seat of your car, you turned to the photographers and magazine journalists.
"I am not wasting my money on him. If it's for someone I love it's not a waste. I worked my butt off for my salary and you don't get to tell me what to spend it on. Thank you."
You hurried to get in the car and drive away as quickly as possible. You hated how they felt entitled to know everything about your personal life, and your reasoning behind your actions. These are the few times that it gets to you, having a bunch of nosy jerks following you around.
On your way home, you called the number for yours and Ashton's favorite restaurant, Per Se.
"Y/N! How are you this evening? Looking for a nice place for dinner?" the manager, Nicholas, greeted cheerfully.
"Yes, I am. I was wondering if you had room for a reservation for two at 7:30?"
"Of course! Anything for you!"
"Thank you so much, Nicholas. I'll see you tonight!"
--
"Y/N, I'm home!" Ashton called to you. It was 6:40, and you were sitting on the couch, watching Criminal Minds.
"Hi baby!" You were eager for him to go up to your shared bedroom and find the gift you got for him. As he went up the stairs, you smiled to yourself and waited for his reaction. You didn't have to wait long.
"Y/N!!" his voice echoed through your mostly marble house.
"Yes Ashton?" you asked innocently.
He came running down the stairs.
"What is that on the bed upstairs?"
"Oh, just a little gift I got for you to wear on our date tonight at Per Se at 7:30," you said sweetly.
"Princess, I told you I don't want you spending money on me. You earned that money, so spend it on things you want."
"But I want to spend it on you. I love you and you're important to me, and I know that I don't have to buy you things for you to know that but I still like to do it anyways."
"Thank you, but please take it back. I'm sorry I just don't feel comfortable with so much money being spent on me. How much was that suit anyways?"
You knew this question was coming and you knew he would not like the answer he got.
"...$5,500..." you said quietly, standing slowly.
"FIVE THOUS- Y/N!!" Ashton shouted.
"I know, I know! I'm sorry!" You stepped away from him and towards the kitchen. You hated being yelled at, so you just needed to get some water and calmed down before you started crying.
Ashton sat on the couch where you had been with a huff. You filled up your glass, took a sip, and set it on the counter.
"Baby, come here," Ash said softly.
You walked nervously to the couch. You weren't afraid of him, you just knew that he was frustrated with you and you weren't sure what he would say.
"Princess, you know I've always said I don't like money spent on me. And although you didn't always listen to me, I knew that it was out of kindness and generosity and love. But it just... always kind of.... made me feel..."
"It's okay, you can tell me," you whispered.
"Like I wasn't good enough."
"Ash..."
"You always buy me these big expensive gifts and dinners and I can only afford to take you for pizza, and it makes me feel bad," he confessed quietly, looking at his hands in his lap.
"Ashton, you know I don't expect anything in return. I get you these things because I love you, not because I want you to get me something in return."
You grabbed his hands.
"And you know what? I'd rather have pizza with you over lobster or any of that crap any day. I would give all of this up if it meant I got to be with you every day. Who needs this stuff when I have the love of my life?"
Ashton had started sniffling at this point, trying to hide the fact that he was crying. But you kept talking
"I will always love you, no matter how much money you have or don't have. I love you for your sense of humor, and for your laugh when you think your jokes are just too funny, and for your kindness, and for your humility, and for your selflessness, and for your honesty. I love you for you. Not your economic status."
He had tears running down his face as he looked back up at you.
"I love you, Y/N," he said, choking on his words.
"I love you, too, Ashton. Now our reservation is in 30 minutes, so get dressed quick." You gave him a peck on the cheek before standing up and going up the stairs to get ready yourself.
You turned and said,
"Wear your best suit," with a wink and a grin.
Ashton let out the laugh you raved about only minutes before, and bounded up the stairs after you.

AHHH!! YES!! um. prepare your eyes, this is gonna be a long, rambly post because apparently i have A LOT OF FEELINGS and i can’t just list things like a normal person. and i also kept remembering podcasts and the list JUST KEPT GETTING LONGER. so. GIANT TEXT POST, i am so so so sorry. also, there are actually a few on this list that i’m not caught up with (some i’m like REALLY behind on) but i’m still gonna rec them...
Welcome to Night Vale is the one i’m sure most ppl know of (although! if you have not read the novel, i’d HIGHLY recommend getting the audio book version. Cecil Baldwin does a great job of reading, and the “Voice of Night Vale” sections actually feature guest stars. i really want Cecil to do more audio book recordings omg). but!! along that same theme (radio show in a strange town w/ supernatural themes), King Falls AM is spectacular (ben and sammy are just! a freakin delight i love them). IMO it starts off feeling like it’s trying to be like WTNV, but within a few episodes it finds itself and becomes something unique (i say this bc i was initially put off by the first episode for that reason, and later came back and gave it another shot and enjoyed it immensely). it’s funny, it made me cry a few times, and i reaallyyy really really need to catch up with it. sammy stevens also has….just….a really nice voice hahaaaa The Truth is a great one. it’s mostly one-off short stories, but they’re generally really high quality and the plot of most of the episodes is really thought-provoking or just interesting in general (there’s one ep about aliens who find the Voyager craft with its recording that’s just really charming to me). the tagline “movies for your ears” is really apt. a lot of the stories veer on the side of unsettling/creepy, and it’s great if you like horror stories. i’d also recommend The Black Tapes and its sister podcast, Tanis. i love horror and unsettling mysteries, so these are right up my alley (Tanis is definitely more in the sci-fi/horror genre, but i like how it also digs into real unsolved cases and events). these are relatively well known, at least in that my friends who don’t listen to podcasts have listened to TBT at least. but they’re still great to check out if you haven’t. Limetown is really good, but ends on a cliffhanger and as far as i know there’s no immediate plans for a season 2? (i remember reading something about them in talks for a TV show? which would be cool, but i’d miss the audio format of it). the first season is worth listening to, because it is really interesting and the audio production is pretty top notch - just be aware that a second season may or may not happen. what i’ve listened to of Hadron Gospel Hour so far is SUPER enjoyable, but i’ve only listened to the first few episodes. arsPARADOXICA is FANTASTIC (at least the first season and a half that i’ve listened to). sally grissom is a great character and a brilliant and scientist and i’m just really in love with her. this is a nice podcast because it has very capable women in it and the concept overall is really fascinating and handled really well. The Cleansed, set in a post-apocalyptic US, is well written and overall well produced (there’s one ep that still sits with me, because of a scene that truly unnerved me, just in the music and the atmosphere and the dialogue just ahh) and i’ve been meaning to pick it up again. In that same vein there’s We’re Alive, which is of the zombie variety. i’ve only juuuuust dipped into that one, but i’ve enjoyed what i’ve heard so far. this one has been around for a long time, like WTNV, so there’s a lot of episodes and a lot of content available. THE BRIGHT SESSIONS! i’m really really fond of this one and i just really love it, please listen. it’s about a psychologist who works with people who have “special” abilities, and all of the patients she helps are just so! precious!! i just love them a lot. Wooden Overcoats is a GREAT podcast that is pretty much the audio version of all my favorite British comedies that i watched growing up (think Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served?, etc). it’s a comedy podcast about two competing funeral parlors (one of which is owned by the Funn’s). it’s exactly my kind of humor, and everyone involved just seems really great and kind. Antigone Funn has great lines and HONESTLY i’m surprised i haven’t seen more people quoting her and this podcast because it’s just! really great. and i don’t THINK this is a sister podcast to WO, but i always associate the two because they have some of the same people working on them but - Hector vs The Future is great. again, i haven’t listened to many episodes, but i’d still recommend it. it’s slightly different than other podcasts on this list because it’s actually filmed/recorded in front of a live audience. Homecoming is a short podcast (only 6 eps and the eps are pretty short) that i THINK is meant to be part of a larger, written universe (which i want to check out). it’s about soldiers with PTSD. this one actually has some well-known people involved - both Oscar Isaac and David Schwimmer voice characters and do a great job. The Darkest Night is another one with big names involved - Lee Pace is the narrator, which alone makes it worth checking out. overall, i’ve enjoyed it, but some episodes veer into areas i was kind of uncomfortable with (Tic-Tac-Toe is the one i’m stuck on and why i haven’t finished it yet ahh). AND OK i really really really like space and space stories and space adventures, so my favs all have that in common hahaha Wolf359 is kind of like. okay, it’s about three people and an AI on a space station, light years away from earth - and the communications officer records his reports by pretending he’s doing a radio show. it starts off fun and humorous and things are great and then before you know it, you are going to be driving from Wichita Falls to Dallas and have to pull off on the side of the road because you’ve started sobbing while listening to it in your car. this podcast is fantastic, with a great cast of characters and strong women and DOUG EIFFEL and just. it’s very good. (i am ashamed to admit that i’m actually SUPER behind on this one. p much, i’m at the point where kepler and crew are on board but i’m only a few eps into this storyline). THIS is actually the podcast that really got me on board with the whole audio drama scene and just like….SCOURING the internet for more that would captivate me in the same way. This one is actually ending with this last season, which i think is a good thing? it’s very plot and character focused and i’m glad that they’re telling a complete story and HONESTLY! i’m just really excited to see where everyone involved goes from here. EOS_10!!!!! similar to Wolf359, it’s about a space station. there are a LOT more people there though (it’s more like an intergalactic hub). it’s about a doctor, his recovering alcoholic doctor-boss who he’s trying to help, a nurse who is spunky and maybe a bit psychotic, a hypochondriac alien-former-prince, and a “alleged” “terrorist” living in the cargo bay. idk this podcast just makes me incredibly happy. the writing is witty and fun, the characters are lovable and flawed, and i’ve listened to the whole two seasons at least 3 times because it just fills me with joy (my favorite dynamic always: assholes who are friends and they love each other but they also just….insult each other constantly. and somehow they save the world? but they’re still assholes). the universe of this show is really interesting without ever feeling like an info dump, and the unfolding mystery is very intriguing. WARNING: this show has been on hiatus for awhile, so there are only two seasons right now. but honestly??? it’s completely worth it. (obvi i’m hoping a third season will eventually come, but i enjoyed the first two enough that i love it regardless haha). and, finally, my current obsession. The Penumbra Podcast. it’s pretty much everything i’ve ever wanted in a series ever - detective film noir, but in space (on Mars), and literally everyone is queer. there’s a main story line (”Juno Steel and the [blank]”) and then one shots between each Juno story. the one shots are fantastic and really show the strength of the writers - sometimes being creepy, other times just being entertaining. The Juno Steel stories are the main running plot, done in the style of old detective radio shows - but also kind of twisting and upgrading the genre to be more inclusive and diverse. Juno Steel is a canonically non-binary and bisexual private eye (also canonically grumpy, sad most of the time, and a huge nerd who laughs at his own awful jokes in HIS OWN MONOLOGUES), and is the type of character you want to punch for being frustrating but who you also want to just…be…happy and protect from the universe. the writing in this is fantastic and beautiful and all of the characters are captivating. even one-off characters have a ton of personality and just add to the diversity/representation of the show. the voice work is top-notch and just!!! it’s so good!!!!! i have so many feelings!!!! (Juno hits close to home for me, with his self-esteem issues and depression and just…yeah, so i gushed about him there. i have a lot of feelings about the other characters but i’ve seriously rambled so much already so I WILL REFRAIN. also? gushing TOO much about a certain someone spoils the enjoyment of getting to know them at the same time Juno does) i REALLY enjoy audio drama-type podcasts so that’s mostly what i listen to. i’m also really into true crime and weird theories and occult stuff, but i’m particular about the podcasts i listen to for that. basically, i get attached to a specific host(s) and it’s hard for me to listen to anyone else talk about similar things haha. so as far as that goes, i love The Last Podcast on the Left (haha i get a bit nervous rec’ing this one because it’s really offensive, mostly in the early eps, and is def not for everyone but honestly!! i just love these boys a lot, and they discuss p much everything i’d ever be interested in ever). this one also led me to listen to Page Seven, which is celebrity gossip but honestly just really enjoyable to me. Two of the hosts from that show (Marcus is a LPOTL host as well) also do another show called Sex and Other Human Activities, which i’ve listened to a bit and enjoyed and deals with a lot of different issues - like sex, but also delving into depression and different things the hosts and their friends have gone through. but as far as non-fiction podcasts go, that’s pretty much it? i’m still planning on checking out Radio Dispatch, but that’s honestly mostly because it’s Molly (from Page Seven) and her brother and like i said, i have a problem. other podcasts i know of and have been meaning to check out: Hello From the Magic Tavern, The Adventure Zone, Pleasuretown, Lesser Gods, Tales of THATTOWN..... and ok, probably others but this has gotten excessive i am so sorry friends (some of the links may accidentally be wrong and i am very sorry)
#thimble talk#text post#long post#anon#ask#podcast rec#if i had just straight up listed them this would have been much shorter but i feel like it's necessary to let everyone know#how much i love audio drama and express my love for the creators

Friday 6/22 12:33am
ah. i need to stop staying up this late
wednesday had work, it was meetings alllllll day. also we bid for our review project and macky bid 250 flights of stairs for our project (we got it) but ima have really in shape legs by the end of this. then after work i went to bible study with emily and that was v nice this week was just the women idk it was good. also played with candace’s kids a bit i haven’t played with kids in so long. they’re v cute though
came home, we went to the grocery store at like 10. which meant i also didn’t get to sleep early
then today was the picnic, so i did work in the morning, a report for the meeting minutes (i think pat was impressed) and also peter came over to “help” me with the software aka he could’ve just told me it was wrong and to fix it because i had initially made comments before they even sent out all the right software pieces we needed so yes it was wrong. and then ah idk it’s frustrating he was trying to walk me through every single step and then kept accidentally deleting the bubbles i made which like....... are necessary to get the point across so if they’re missing that defeats the entire point. lol dan and i went down 60 flights of stairs today and were sweating after that (he was like running full speed down them). nicole leaves tm tho so she’s just not doing it and idk if i trust macky to actually follow through
picnic was in the afternoon though, it was ok. brian drove us to juli’s car and she took us there. we were some of the first, kurt eventually came to sit with me and issy and juli and then nicole too later on. like before we left all the other interns were all sitting together and idk i don’t know it always feels a little cliquey. sad dan didn’t come though he’s funny. kurt was talking about like full time employment there though and like..... idk if i want that. i figure i’ll apply to the thing so i’m in the system but we’ll see. also there was free alcohol so issy got wine and juli got beer and then they didn’t drink it because it tasted like “frat wine” and “frat beer” lol issy doesn’t even really drink in the first place though
we went to get ice cream afterwards bc i suggested and that was good, nice to just hang and also delicious. when i came home i napped, then ate then made cookies and went to small group. after ah phil drove me home and started talking again in the car and then i was trying to read all his messages after and like start writing a response but he just keeps sending stuff? and like yes i think it’s important to understand the bible in context but part of me is like i really don’t care that much about the differences between the catholic and protestant church and if you think the catholic church is the only “true” church then idk if i believe you... just like there are better ways i could be spending this time and energy which is p much what i originally told him...... like he’s v nice and all but also is one of those people who can like have a dialogue w himself and will finish your sentences with things that you weren’t going to say/cut you off to explain things you weren’t going to talk about which gets frustrating
