Scarnash Updates S5

SPOILERS BELOW!

I just binged S5 on Passport. I have but one conclusion: Scarnash is screwed. Very, very screwed. Here's my proof:

There was very little Patrick

The Patrick there was regressed Patrick. Lying, non-communicating Patrick, not "I'll always keep trying" Patrick.

They had Eliza prioritize jailing a conman over keeping Patrick out of jail.

They had Eliza give her broke friend one week sharing her office and made him stay in a shitty boarding house rather than offer him a room at her place.

Eliza had NO ROLE in getting him out of prison.

They sent Patrick to Australia, rather than France. Less of an easy trip.

We didn't get any Ivy/Patrick bonding

We got no signs she misses Patrick when he is gone.

We got a look of fond looks, but nothing like the romantic undercurrents of last season.

They gave Blake SO MUCH favorable treatment. As smart as Eliza. No sexism. No ego problem. Flexibility. Honest. Acknowledgement of Eliza's skill. Good father to a mini-Eliza. Bonding with Ivy. Bonding with Fitzroy. Bonding with Phelps (eventually). Lots of super clear romantic moments with Eliza.

The only consolation of this season's romantic developments is that Patrick will not lose out F***ing William Wellington.

ok scarnashers tell me if im hearing things but is it just me or does patrick’s voice sound slightly more irish whenever he’s being really honest or sincere about something???? when he says “im just saying that some people are survivors. like you and I! that’s why we should work together” and “those were the words I used to describe you to bracewell” and ESPECIALLY “you always know…the right thing to say… it is most annoying” and every time he says “Michael”. i can’t tell if im just going crazy or if his mask really slips and his lilt actually surfaces. but i think about this every time i see the “those were the words i used to describe you to bracewell” scene and i cannot stop wondering

also, as i’ve come back to this account i’ve also finally gone back to the miss scarlet fandom (my longtime favorite) and i cannot believe how many people there are shipping scarnash now???? i’ve been silently active in this fandom since season 2 was airing and then i took a break from it after season 3 just because my life got too busy, and i come back and there’s fan edits, a ship name, fanfiction??? when i left there was quite literally nothing and now there’s like a whole community im actually so happy

@youdontneedhenry As much as I love their TWO "fake" kisses... (neeeed moreeee)... and Patrick in a smart black and white evening suit with his tamed but stubborn curls...

There's something about Patrick with his arms around Eliza helping her to peel a potato.

It seems such a 'simple' scene but to me there's ALOT of meaning to it -

It shows the juxtaposition of Patrick against W, with him actually helping Eliza and not just making fun of her cooking.

It highlights their relationship - how it is one of support - how Patrick helps Eliza - and not just get angry at her (a further juxtaposition against W).

It shows the development - and TRUST - in their relationship - if Patrick had done that earlier in their relationship, Eliza would have stuck the potato peeler/knife in him.

AND it's also a lovely and cute scene and I just *really* enjoyed it. I blushed and smiled reading it.

(I also love the image of Patrick with his jacket(s) on and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows) 🥵 hehehe

What is your favourite scene between Eliza and Patrick so far in your Sweetest Con?

Oh wow!!! What a question! Thank you for asking me something about my own story- I like talking about it lol!! I actually had to think about for a minute. I do like a lot of it so it’s hard to pick one thing 😅

Some specifics that come to mind:

* Chapter 4- the breakfast at the beginning. I just like their banter over breakfast about the French breakfast (breakfast inception?)

* Her swatting him with the paper when he mentions she did blush when he kissed her hand (Chapter 5)

* their conversation over dinner- playing the guess something about a person game, and him just talking about the things he would do to woo her lol (Chapter 6)
