I dont typically like getting political on tumblr because I know the crowd of people who typically follow the fandoms I'm in. I know the crowd of people who usually pay attention to such fandom cultures in the first place, and I truly don't want to make myself such an enemy in anyone's eyes. But also, I don't want people irrationally scared that the new Hitler is coming to make their lives awful and oppress them in every way imaginable. Because to act like America is about to become Nazi Germany is to prove how out of touch you are with what other countries are doing and also just extra anxiety on your part that doesn't need to exist. I want your life to be less stressful, I really don't want anyone afraid for their life when it's unnecessary. Besides this "checklist" I want to comment on, remember that many changes aren't probably gonna feel very personal to you and while you might notice some slight differences, the day to day will probably be the same as it is through every presidential transition. Some things are cheaper/more expensive maybe, maybe your office or school has some slight alterations, but thats usually about it.

I don't hate anyone. I have met and become friends with more people I disagree with on a lot of important points than I do people I agree with on said issues. The scenarios in which I have met these people have allowed me to see how friendly, creative, and talented they are. It has also allowed me to see just how precarious and overdramatized interactions and relationships with them can be. This does not even include the internet or social media.

"Powerful and Continuing Nationalism" Americans value America first. A healthy country wants to succeed, and to want something to succeed you have to love it first. If you would prefer every other country over the one you live in, then don't live in it. But there is no logic in wanting a country to have influence and do better and actually progress whilst also despising its existence as a country. Plus, most of the "America first" sentiments don't pair with a "hurt other countries" sentiment. More like a "they can and should handle their own problems" one. If you can respect any amount of individual freedom, responsibility, or self pride, then you should be able to respect it on the national scale.

"Disdain For Human Rights" Its not that anyone in power at the moment disdains human rights. In fact, they know that within the government, every human has the right to pretty much everything. Anyone can run for office, vote, start a business, not be discriminated against as a potential employee or customer, and overall do pretty much whatever they like. What they don't want is those rights to be taken away because someone is offended or inconvenienced. Most republicans don't even actually mind trans people, they just dont want children permanently altered or women's safety threatened. If you have the right to sleep with whoever you want, dress however you want, and call yourself whatever you want then why shouldnt others have the right to live, be safe in their own spaces, consent to who gets to see their body, to their speech and opinions (offensive or not)? Those things can live side by side. In fact, the best you can do when it comes to human rights is not over manage speech. They should, however, manage some actions that can have harmful/permanent effects.

"Identification of Enemies as a Unifying Cause" This is clearly about illegal immigrants and trans people. Again, no one thinks trans people are the enemy. More so the ideology since overall it blatantly refuses the truth of sex, any self responsibility (you choose how you present yourself to people and how you manage your own thoughts and feelings), or any concern for others' feelings and safety that isn't a trans person. It would be like saying because someone hates depression they hate all depressed people. No. You as a person can still be good and deserving of all your human rights, but the ideas themselves aren't helpful to any society. Illegal immigrants aren't being threatened with mass genocide or really much violence at all. Rather, if they havent committed other crimes within the country that would deserve actual punishment they are simply facing return back to the country they came from. It is immoral to allow illegal immigrants in the country, not only for the safety of the citizens that the politicians swore to protect but also because it is exploitative. It's also dangerous to make it here, so why would you want to encourage people to risk their lives to come to a place where they can't enjoy all the rights of being a citizen?

"Rampant Sexism" As a woman, I can say with absolute certainty that I do not see one ounce of blatant sexism from the politicians coming into power and I certainly do not feel politically oppressed in any way. There are many other cultures where sexism is even worse, if you can even call anything in America actual sexism, but I'm sure it would be considered racist to make such a claim. Its not as if middle eastern women are fighting for their lives and education and equality or anything. Us Americans have it so bad because sometimes a man says something weird and gross. The most sexist thing I've ever come across on a societal scale within my life is the prioritization of men who say they're women over actual women. But we definitely don't see the new people in office supporting that sentiment.

"Controlled Mass Media" This is the only one I will give even the slightest ounce of credit, simply because I know the government would prefer Meta over other companies and they did ban tiktok/almost ban tiktok? In any case, if you can still get news from pretty much every political ideology, access any other social media website, shop at the "Banned Books" section of a book store, and access literally any other form of media that has existed throughout our history then your media is most likely not very controlled. The thing with social media specifically is that it is still so new so we will obviously need to figure out how to navigate that within our physical world but that isn't a sign of a fascist country, thats simply a sign that we are facing a rapid change in technology and don't know how to handle it yet. Its a great thing we have a constitution and hella rebellious citizens who will make finding the best, least oppressive solutions easier here than probably anywhere else on the planet!

"Obsession with National Security" The only reason there's a surge in national security is because there has also been a surge in threats against the security of this nation. Through many foreign nations and within our own borders. This country cannot be successful and cannot help any other country in the world if we are falling apart while we are doing it.

"Religion and Government Intertwined" There is a difference between politicians being religious and it actually being intertwined with our government. Most government policies made are based on our constitution and how we can best respect the rights given to us through it. The religion of any of the politicians is not going to become mandatory or oppressive to anyone not of that religion, because that is not the goal. Anyone can come up with the sentiment that they need to fix the way the government runs and protect the rights of their citizens. Yes, religion might influence some of their opinions on things and a few of their changes, but if you elect someone you have to accept that they have ideas about things. Thats just how it works. Overall, religion will not become permanently intertwined with the government or forced upon citizens.

"Labor Power Suppressed" Last I checked, you can get any job you want. Literally, you can quit any job you don't like, and just go find a new one. Not to mention they want to improve businesses and they know that the labor class is very vital to that.

"Rampant Cronyism and Corruption" Corruption is a vague word and a lot of the people in the new administration don't even agree on everything. The main thing they agree on is that they want to see America succeed and that they will respect the elected president's right to see that mandate through, as an elected official. How terrible of a president to hire people that don't hate him and won't sabotage the policy goals he was elected to see through.

I don’t have a specific ship i'm particularly loyal to, so I guess I’ll rate them and also provide my own headcanons:

(disclaimer i dont know ship names so imma just try my best)

Trine-shipping: yes, put the three of them together, I don’t care. familial, sexual, romantic, platonic, its all good. I go crazy seeing them stand next to each other in the cartoon what do you want from me.

thunderwarp: I see this one a lot and I quite like it. these two being mates with starscream doing his own thing kinda makes sense considering starscream has a bunch of other ships. also makes it fun when something happens to one of them and starscream is left in the awkward position of having to deal with that.

thunderstar: been thinking about this one more lately. they’re like foils to each other. thundercracker’s a good boy to starscream’s bad boy, and he does such a concern about all the morally dubious stuff starscream gets up to. but at the same time, he admires starscream’s ambition and rizz and starscream the kinda bot that would pull you so high if you followed him. I think out of anyone, starscream is the closest to actually trusting thundercracker. 

starwarp: i had this thought one time of what if skywarp is like the horniest asexual and starscream is the most traumatized aromantic, and how would that even work XD nothing solid in the works just an idea that I had. ive seen these two less often outside of trine shipping but it can be pretty hot. I like when they are being protective of each other. I always see skywarp as more emotionally open than his trinemates and starscream can use some of that open and honest emotional love and care. someone to forcfully make him accept being loved. someone who will actually push back when he’s being stupid. and with skywarp being loyal to megatron, so much angst potential for both of them.

starbee: im a sucker for the whole ghost bee starscream dynamic. I already made a post about these two, and after all this time I still really enjoy this ship. I think characters that don’t actually like each other at first but grow into a mutual respect is so tasty. I think some people don’t like the ship because they headcanon bee as too young? well, starscream is actually younger in my fic lmao, but also they’re like 6 million years old and are born with full adult processing capabilities, I don’t think age matters here :P its less about intimacy for me anyway. I like them together because of how much it takes to get there. 

starwavewave: okay this one is 100% fueled by tfone but guyssss guysss theyre married and megatron is their son and im just aaaagh dont seperate them! such a kookie dynamic, the cool headed soundwave, the emotionally volatile shockwave, the arrogant yet cowardly starscream, all being fail dads to their little scamp leader. hahaha. high command polycule 

megastar: gasp, rated above skystar. yes, I just find this dynamic more interesting. I like an abusive ship sometimes for the angst but I also enjoy seeing megatron when he isnt abusive? kinda catharsis maybe. I read a fic once where the war is over and starscream invites megatron to one of optimus’ high profile parties and is appalled at megatron showing up in robot equivalent of underdressed, meanwhile megatron the working class miner is like “I washed, what else was I supposed to do” XD and I just love that haha. theres just so many ways to take it. I wont be doing any megastar in my au, I just tag anything that has megatron and starscream interacting with megastar cuz thats the dynamic to me

skystar/jetstar: iddkkkkk i know this is the most popular ship but it’s just!! idk! its not as interesting to me haha. I love this as a past ship, they were roommates in college, starscream opened himself to someone, chose to become close and then was hurt by it. just another wound on starscream’s spark before he ever even meets megatron. I don’t think theyd get back together after the ice. idk how well I can write this so I’ll just explain how it happens in my au here: skyfire died and starscream created this version of skyfire in his mind that was perfect, he memorialised him because he was dead! you just cant live up to how someone remembers you. I think that was part of the reason why starscream reacts so badly when skyfire “betrayed” him. unlike thundercracker, skyfire knows how to set healthy boundaries. not to mention he’d been on ice for four million years, lost his entire life, everyone he knows, and his entire civilisation, planet, and culture to a war he had no part in. bot’s gonna be upset. pissed off even. skyfire shouldnt have to be some soft sparked punching bag for starscream, he’s kind and a pacifist but he’s also going to get upset and have feelings. I think starscream’s betrayal would hit pretty hard, he’d gonna be upset about how much starscream’s changed, how much damage starscream helped cause during the war, and also starscream shooting him in the back for wanting to protect the native wildlife! when they properly talk to each other again it’s going to be heated on both sides, and I think after some hard work from both sides they could end up in a place where they are willing to be friends again, but I don’t think they’d conjunx. skystar isnt end game to me, but it is canon and an important part of the story

starop: I think ive read one fic where I really liked this ship. it’s just such a random pairing. my initial reaction is just noooo optimus prime?? but that guy’s everyone’s dad! Ive been told a big part of it is they’re both megatron’s ex’s and that’s pretty funny. not for me sadly haha (opxmegatronoldmanyaoiotpfrfr)

starjack…wheelstar? whatever the starscream and wheeljack one is. I’m not into this one. I see where people are coming from with it, but wheeljack isnt an interesting character to me. they can be science bros tho

soundstar: uuuh i dont see it. sorry! i legit have no thoughts on soundstar. theyre coworkers XD. ive seen fics where the seekers are really young and soundwave moms them, and that’s really cute. okay, I like soundwave as a caretaker if the seekers are young, but yeah I don’t think I understand this one. 

shockstar: nooooooo. tho ironically theres more canon content there to fuel this one than soundstar (is this emotion?) but still no XD I don’t even hate shockwave! let him be sunstorm’s dad, that’s cute. but no, shockewave too creepy. no ship. they are also coworkers

starprowl: this is apparently a really popular ship?! I guess in a way prowl is sort of like the autobot’s starscream, undermining his leader, arrogant, willing to do the dubious play. they’re both ruthless. I like this one better than starjacked, but its still an odd pairing to me.

oh! knockout and starscream, i can kinda see it? like, as a rebound after breakdown? I like knock out and breakdown, so I’d only see these two as like friends or if something happened to breakdown. they’re a LOT of fun when they interact tho heh heh, perfectly clashing personalities

on the topic of tfp, I guess starscream and arcee is a ship? I can see this similar to my enjoyment of starbee, they’d have to work reeaally hard for this one to work but they have had potentially positive interactions in the show (before starscream screws it up) so its possible in a better world where starscream doesnt suck they could become friends. him killing cliffjumper is gonna be a huge hurdle tho!

do people ship starscream and ratchet? I don’t ship it, but I do really like interactions between them. starscream is so terrible but he also gets hurt a lot. ratchet is grumpy and prejudice but he’s the best doctor and he’ll fix him up! I like when something terrible happens to starscream and ratchet cant help but feel bad for the guy. that’s the good stuff.

lastly i have been asked a few times on trinebee. im assuming this is bumblebee and the trine. i hadnt thought about it but it makes sense! if youre a starbee shipper, but you also support trine propaganda, then it only makes sense to bring bee into the trine. also bee and thundercracker are friends! the only ones who havent really had any interaction is bee and warp, and honestly idk if I see those two getting along but bumblebee is everybody’s friend so XD I’m sure it’ll work out!

and i think those are all the thoughts i have on the ships! 

no hate on anyone who ships any of these!!! you all do what you do, these are just my opinions, and honestly I’m just not a huge shipper to begin with haha. I am…unsure if there will be any shipping content in my au, I write my scenarios very much “canon but to the left” and so it comes out very sex-less because romance and intimacy is just not the type of content I’m in the business of writing. but, idk, i think about it sometimes. sometimes I think about the end of chapter one of thundercracker’s origin, the night starscream took thundercracker out on a not-date. i think, who knows, in some version of the story maybe they shared a kiss? maybe they went back to the apartment and things went further? maybe. but of course, in every version of the story, starscream is gone the next morning.

Not everyone has to have the same love language! however, you do not get to dictate what type of love language is best for David and Georgia just because it doesn't match your ideas of what a healthy relationship looks like. there are several types of healthy relationships that come in all shapes and sizes.

I also have no idea what your nationality is, but British humor is a LOT dryer than American humor.

There is nothing off about David "looking into the distance" as he gets his makeup done, or when he looks out a goddamn window for christ's sake. You do not know this man. If you want to read my straight forward and honest concern about women's rights and the threat they are under (which has been neutrally observed and documented as simply factual), and see it as rude or problematic (you called your inbox hell - well it's hell for women in their daily lives to no longer have long fought for protections that we still need, let's get some perspective here), that tells me all I need to know about your refusal to prioritize or even really care about women and girls. I promise you misogyny is more painful and damaging than the inconvenience if pointing out said misogyny on the internet to people who are willfully ignoring the misogyny. Stating facts of the roll back of women's rights and the real impact leftist politics has in that roll back is not hateful to anyone; rather it's supportive to women and girls in our struggle. You, like many others, dont seem to believe misogyny is a real or is serious concern for half the human population, including for women in North America, Australia, the UK and New Zealand (not just in so-called third world countries where, as it happens, women are also being prevented from speaking out and documenting the misogyny against them). Misogyny at home is just as important as misogyny abroad. And furthermore if you think standing up for women's rights in an even handed way that is frank about the mechanisms through which women's rights and protections are being shoved aside instead of upheld, is transphobic, then maybe women's rights and the trans movement, as it currently stands, are diametrically opposed and mutually exclusive. If I am forced to pick between protecting women and girls, or protecting people who rely on access to women and girls spaces for their validation (this is the reason they specifically give, afterall, for insisting on dismantling these rights of women), then I'm going to pick women and girls every single time.... Your first message was the most harmless I've received, and that doesn't apply to yours. Secondly, you're mixing apples and oranges. Hatred against women and regarding women as inferior is a huge problem, and I mentioned that. But what does that have to do with trans people? The cases you listed are minimal. Misogyny is terrible and comes from education, culture, religion and government rules that do not treat women as equals.

Why does a woman have to cover herself (forced, not voluntarily) in front of a man? Because she ignites his sexual desire, she is not allowed to raise her voice because she is considered sexually provocative. A woman has to serve her husband at home, to separate from him when she has her period, she has to be circumcised so that she gives the man more pleasure, etc. Why is a woman allowed to be killed if she has brought shame on her family, why is she not allowed to decide about her own body and have an abortion, for example... All of this is completely wrong and I am completely against it. This must be stopped and changed. These are the cultural, educational, etc. things that I have mentioned, but what does a trans person have to do with it? As I said, the special shelters and the regulations are difficult and need to be regulated. There are mixed washrooms, gyms, saunas and in sports, regulations are coming. But what just happened is also not correct, that one simply tries to exclude trans people and see them as third-class people.

I think I know who I'm dealing with, and if I'm right, then we've had a similar discussion about a trans doctor before.

We're talking at cross purposes and I'm no longer willing to talk my head off when we actually mean almost the same thing.

•sam sits by the pool just thinking back to when Sam and y/n had a huge fight because Sam admittet to only being with him to hurt Tori’s feelings…

Amanda thought it would be fun to take her daughter Sam to a children’s arcade. But Sam doesn't like the idea, because she thinks it's embarrassing.

“Mom I can't believe you convinced me to come here” Sam sighed

“You used to like this place with your brother. Just have fun and forget everything else” Amanda said

“Fine,” Sam said

Amanda went to get the tokens then Sam and Tory noticed each other. Tory isn't happy that Sam is at her work but Sam is in shock and she can't believe it. Sam watches Tory work and she has on a mermaid outfit. Now, Tory starts to tell a story while Sam sits next to the little kids to hear the story. While, Tory is telling the story, Sam would interrupt and Tory is starting to feel annoyed and angry at Sam.

After that, Sam got up and she was walking towards her mom. Tory convinced the kids to throw glitter at Sam with a story. Tory convinced them that Sam is a witch blending in with normal people. The kids start to run towards Sam and she turned around. Suddenly, she feels the glitter hit her then she sees Tory smiling at her.

“Sam?” You said

She turns around and Tory can't believe you are at the arcade.

“If you want to make it right with him. Apologize first then tell him how you feel, that's the only thing you can do” Amanda said

But Sam knew and she wanted to use you to hurt Tory, but Sam started to get strong feelings towards you but you broke up with her when you found out what she was doing.

Tory still lhas feelings for you and wants you back. You told Sam and Tory to leave you alone because you didn't want them to keep lying to you.

It's always so weird to come down from the biology heavens to see what the average person believes about animals, plants, ecosystems, just the world around them. I don't even mean things that one simply doesn't know because they've never been told or things that are confusing, I'm talking about people who genuinely do not see insects as animals. I was responding to the part where you said not all afab people are affected by abortion bans. Medical misogyny is a facet of sex-based oppression and of misogyny in general (and sex-based oppression is just a facet of misogyny)

I never said that non-passing trans women dont get catcalled. I said that everyone knows that passing trans women get catcalled. I said nothing about non-passing trans women or any misogyny/homophobia they may experience. I was only making a point about how even the strictest radfem admits that trans women who pass experience social misogyny and emphasizing that this facet of misogyny was not what I was referring to.

I am a perisex trans man(I dont believe that pcos an intersex condition, but I have seen others on here claiming it is, so draw your own conclusions on what you’d like to call me on that front, since I am medically diagnosed.) I have extreme sex dysmorphia/gender dysphoria that affects my everyday life and has ever since I can remember. I have been involved with the trans community for over a decade. Trans community infighting is what got me where I am.(along with learning about trans healthcare in my area and the lack of laws to protect trans people from exploitative doctors) I never said it was exclusively trans women who perpetuate this bigotry, I just said it was heavily perpetuated within the trans community. It’s a problem no matter who is doing it. I also know of and follow trans women who speak up about this double standard.

The last line about the people “actually” hurting the community being radfems is only true if you label everyone who harms the community a “radfem.”

I would argue that the majority of people arguing against the creation of these words to describe the specific oppression experienced by trans people who were born with the reproductive system generally associated with gestating pregnancies have never actually read any type of radical feminism literature and could not even name our basic beliefs. Everyone, even dave fucking chappelle, wants to call themselves a “terf” for their various beliefs that contradict the claims made by the trans community, but just like not being an atheist doesnt make someone a christian, not believing in trans identities doesnt make someone a radical feminist. I am aware of the small group of trans women who call themselves trf (trans radical feminists) but once again, without the ideological beliefs backing their claim, they are just trans people who have come up with a set of ideas and called it radical feminism. In much the same way that I couldnt call myself a christian while actively not believing in any sort of god(or at least wouldnt be taken seriously as a voice on christian beliefs) these people should not be taken seriously as representatives of radical feminist beliefs.

I hate the lack of choice when it comes to representation. Do you think I voted jk rowling as the top rep of radical feminism? Do you think I agree with everything she says just because she says it? No, she’s just able to speak the loudest, and thus gets the most attention. We have no way of ending her term if she says something we disagree with. We cannot vote her out of office. She makes the loudest sound, and so she is our de facto representative, whether we like it or not.

I think much the same thing has happened to the trans community, with its representation not being the most agreed upon or the most liked, but the loudest person to yell about it. This leads to people in positions of privilege yelling louder than the more oppressed people who actually know what theyre talking about. As a result, the trans community has pursued mostly goals that help the already privileged (as has the radfem community in the west) leading to a snowball of changes that less privileged trans people cant even share their opinion on without being dogpilled by the more privileged ones who benefit.

Trans people deserve human rights and basic respect.

Sonic And Amy Are A Unique Couple

This is a quick Sonamy rant /ramble session. With a few added clarifications too. Enjoy!

This couple is more unique than you’d think. It’s cool if anyone disagrees. I'm all for a polite debate and respect your opinion. But if you're willing to hear me out, I'll be willing to explain myself as clearly as possible. Great? Awesome! Let’s get started!

Amy doesn't want to change Sonic. I will scream this until I'm not able to speak any more that Amy loves Sonic for who he is. She always has but it wasn't until IDW that she expressed it out loud. Still one of my favorite moments between them.

Does that make their relationship unique? Not really. What makes their relationship unique is what Amy loves about Sonic is kind of the reason they're not a couple yet. Sonic is an ongoing force that can’t be stopped or changed. Of course, he’ll allow someone to join him on a race, but he still keeps going. Not to say Sonic won’t stop to smell the roses (pun not intended) but he’ll do it on his own time. Amy always likes to take advantage of those moments and best of all, Sonic doesn’t mind. Even during their old chases, he’d slow down for her. Says a lot about the connection they have but there’s more

Their chemistry is…something for lack of a better term. Their back and forth is so interesting to me. Sonic does like Amy back. Notable examples here but to put it shortly, Sonic doesn’t know what he’s doing when it comes to romance. Sometimes he’s not into it and other times he’s chill. Sometimes Amy is ecstatic and other times she's bashful. I'm looking at you Sonic X.

Every time Amy’s occupied, is when Sonic wants her the most. Amy on the other hand wants Sonic to enjoy his freedom. Neither of them stops to think about how maybe they can have it both ways.

I'll also mention romance isn’t about “being tied down.” That paints romance as if it’s some kind of chain being rapt around your neck or being forced to be with the person. That is not romance. It’s keeping someone hostage. Something Amy would not do. Every time she’d joke around about marrying him Sonic didn’t take it seriously. Heroes included.

Sonic’s line in Heros: “Amy knock it off. There's no time to play!” Dude knows Amy was messing with him. She was written to be girly, childish, adventurous, and cartoony. No, it wasn’t always executed well. Hello, Sonic Freeriders Amy! But I think this scene summons it up the best.

Important thing to mention as well is Sonic is an outspoken and honest character who rarely lies. It’s either you get the truth or you get nothing. He’s not the type to spare people’s feelings either, so if he had a problem with Amy in the past, he’d tell her directly. I do think she'd also stop if he genuinely told her to. The last thing Amy would want is to tarnish their friendship because of her actions. This loyal girl is so sweet.

Not to mention this is a popular trope in Japan too. The trope was what their relationship was based on.

Back to my original point Sonic and Amy aren’t a traditional couple. That’s a good thing. If they became canon their relationship wouldn’t change if they got together, but also they don’t need labels either. Romance isn’t or shouldn’t be a burden on you. That’s not how love works and that’s not what Sonic believes Amy to be. If that’s the case he wouldn’t be friends with her. Whether you ship Sonic with Amy, someone else, or no one, there should be no doubt Sonic values her friendship.

I’ll also add that Amy is just as up for an adventure as Sonic is. It’s why she loves him so much. They’re a power couple and love going out to travel, so there’s no staying in one place for these two.

In Sonic Adventure 2 you can tell Amy’s intuition when it comes to Sonic. Close to the end, she saw him looking a bit down and noticed his mood shifting a bit. “What’s the matter, Sonic?” “Oh, it’s nothing.” She knows him so well. I don't know what connection they run on but it’s inspiring.

These two don’t have a typical girl/boy relationship. I know some people say, “Well, why can't Sonic and Amy stay friends? Not every male and female relationship needs to be romantic.” You're 100% correct. Here are some examples.

The difference between other relationships is that Amy was created to be a Minnie to Sonic’s Mickey. Which is why these two are treated differently compared to others. Including in merch. There are more examples but I digress. The point is this specific pair is always going to have nuance even if they’re only friends. It doesn’t stop until Amy doesn’t love Sonic and even if it shouldn’t define her, it should still be a part of her. She might work without romance, but we already have other amazing female characters for that.

No one’s obligated to ship them because of this of course. Again, your opinion is still valid, and I will always stick to that point.

Last but not least is their friendship (or situationship) as a whole.

The funny thing is their friendship is what makes their romance the most compelling. The appeal to Sonic and Amy’s dynamic is how much platonic energy they have. Romance doesn’t always mean you need to be lovey-dovey. With Sonamy it’s their powerful friendship that makes the (somewhat not platonic) interactions memorable. You don’t have to choose romantic or platonic. It can be both. I wouldn't be a Sonamy fan if I didn't think their relationship was plain. I'm here because of how different they are.

And I love them to bits. Look at this panel and tell me it isn't running with situationship fuel.

Another fun detail is in recent years despite knowing Amy still loves him, Sonic hugs her back. Even the moments in Sonic X he carries her are moments he offers to. Even when it wasn't necessary.

Can’t forget about the recent asking Amy out to a dinner panel in IDW. He's never done that before. There's a familiarity between the two of them however you look at it. I LOVE them for it.

His moments of genuinely being excited to see her are not due to some development but because Sonic’s passion for Amy has noticeably increased. Why am I bringing these up? It’s because one thing that hasn’t been talked about when it comes to romance is actions. Sure, Sonic doesn't fully confess his feelings to her outwardly. But why do you have to be obvious and in your face when it comes to loving someone? In Japan, love is mostly shown through what you do more than what you say. That stuff can happen there but it doesn't always have to. The “Sharing an Umbrella, Amy,” line in Frontiers carries a lot more weight when you think about the implications.

The up-to-interpretation view of whatever they have together is the main reason I and so many people ship them. It’s not the fact that they are close, but the progression of their closeness. To make a long story short, the appeal of Sonamy is the fact that they don’t have to be traditionally romantic to be an interesting couple. Amy represents expressive love and Sonic represents emotional love.

i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.

Hey! Well, to preface, I'll admit I myself am still an undergraduate (although I was in many biological science classes, still far from professional. I still believe I can ask questions because it is undeniable to me that science is based on a male perspective). I understand your gripe with the general, unprofessional nature of the word "conception." I myself use it because to me, the word "fertilize" seems like we are saying the sperm takes action against the egg. It makes it seem as if the egg is inviable or infertile until a sperm "penetrates" it. But eggs are more complex than sperm (if I remember correctly), so why isn't it that we word it as an egg fertilizing the sperm? I also made an inference based on the way people talk about reproduction outside of a scientific context. A mans sperm is sometimes called his "seed," but a seed is an embryonic plant, not a gamete. Another example would be the fact that eggs on their own are called "unfertilized." There's something off about the fact that there are "fertilized eggs," too. Maybe you could explain, but once sperm and egg unite, wouldn't it be considered a whole new thing (ex. zygote). To me, there doesn't seem to exist a vocabulary that depicts the action of sperm and egg uniting in a way that acknowledges female and male involvement, just male doing onto female. Again, this culture can be seen in how women are often treated as vessels for a fetus. I dont know if I made any sense there... I hope I did.

As for the actual mechanics, I very much thank you for your in-depth explanation! It was my mistake, I should have looked deeper into my claims as I only knew the general idea of gamete involvement in mate selection. I did look into the study you mentioned, very interesting!!! However, when I said that eggs chose sperm, I was alluding to the basic idea of eggs having a preference. I wasn't trying to be too specific because I didn't know all the details, but I should've elaborated 😬 but it still does prove my point. Eggs are (theorized) to be attracted to more compatible sperm from a certain mate. Even if it is not a choice between sperm from the same man, there is still interaction and choice on the female gamete. I guess my issue with the way we speak about reproduction is that it's almost worded in a way that portrays the egg as an inanimate house for a sperm.

I 100 percent also see your concern with this theory being misused. I think that comes down to people not understanding involuntary bodily functions and voluntary bodily functions. My concern is about the perception of the female body as a tool for males to use during procreation (I use that analogy a lot lmfao I'm a bit repetitive sometimes) not as a body that also puts in effort and has credibility during the process. Credibility other than "carrying a fetus."

As for this theory being correct, I'm unsure of its current status. However, looking at their findings, it's pretty convincing! I hope this can be the start of a more equitable science, to be honest. Maybe the female body is finally getting the credit it deserves, especially concerning our control and power in reproductive relationships. I mean, just from interacting with people in my area of study, they seem to forget about female mate selection ALL THE TIME. They insist that rape is a staple in nature, though from my observations its very inefficient! But that's a personal experience. Although I am still plenty ignorant on a lot of biological science, I do think my question has merit in some way. We do need to consider how males have vastly populated sciences. I mean, let's look at how little they even know about the female body. Just think of how much there's left to discover about our own bodies!

To me, it just seems like "conception" acknowledges a team effort much better than fertilization (again, because it is worded as something a sperm bestows an egg. It appears, to me, that men have a bit of an obsession with controlling or defining a female body through their actions). Really, it may come down to our own personal opinions. Im a very unorthodox person with science, but I believe there is a place for questioning things within our studies. When I said, "My hands are tied academically," I was more talking about the fact that when I DO go to specialize in my selected fields, my unprofessional view will not be accepted.

No @anomalys-bane you do have a point. I have many posts that concern the reproductive process and our wording of it. It always relies on the perception of a female vessel being done to by a male catalyst. You are the machine he operates. If men are feeling gracious, they'll say you're the goddess of life or whatever bullshit, but then word it as if they grant us permission to our "power to create life." I often talk about how I am going into zoological fields and how I am invested in animal hobbies (including breeding animals). The male ego is so vast, so prevalent, that a vocabulary does not exist to properly describe this process. I try my hardest, but academically, my hands are tied. I know later on I'll be corrected for not following the science made to make men feel more important than they are. More in control than they are. More credible and powerful. Fertilization, I try to replace with conception. We now know that eggs choose sperm, but that will never be integrated into our dialog as scientists. It's been a male field, it continues to be so. Women who enter don't question, I feel as if they actually enjoy this view of themselves bestowed to them by male overlords. As for "impregnation," I try to avoid seeing pregnancy as a direct action of a male and more as a process. Conception is male, "impregnation" is not. We become pregnant when an embryo attaches to our uterus, not when a sperm enters our uterus. Pregnancy is not an action done to by the male, it is a result of two people acting together. I refuse to see it as a man putting an embryo inside of me. He ejaculates inside of a woman so his sperm can meet her egg, not so he can impregnate her. The wording makes it seem as if she has no effort in the matter, when eggs are a more complex gamete than sperm is.

Basically, our view is heavily male centered. Most things are. It's miserable being in this field.

Edit: I feel as if I should provide an explanation for my take on female creation being the wrong way of viewing gestation. You have to see the process for how it is. People on the one side must stop acting as if female bodies are tools, and people on the other side must stop glorifying the female body in an inhuman, deified way. It is neither of the two radical ideas. Females do not create life through pregnancy. Females and males create life through conception (albeit NOT sentience, this is a process, after all. Sentience is achieved by an individual after birth). A bird chick forms away from a female in an egg. The truth of pregnancy is that it closely resembles parasitism. It's not a perfect definition because it can benefit females in the case of a healthy, stable-minded female spreading her genetics (impossible in our modern society imo). However, my point is that the fetus leeches nutrients from the female body. The female body is a nutrient source, not a machine that stitches together arms, legs, and a torso. The embryo is able to build parts to its body because of the nutrients it steals. The true power of female reproduction comes from our ability to withstand this. Endurance. But males are unable to eat their pride and admit this proves our capability, so then we become either vessels or artistic creators. We can not be strong in the same sense they are.

The female body should strive to be neutral. Not an inferior, not a deity. The fact is women have had their identities repressed for so long that we have no idea how to stay in the lines of humanity. I will say, though, that the women who glorify their female bodies are much MUCH better than those who see it as inferior. It is just a nitpick I have
