yes!! just for you my dearest mutual axolotlworld… sorry I took forever to respond I really had to think about what to say!

our game is (tentatively) called COLLEGEBOUND.. or SCHOOLBOUND… or CLASSBOUND.. we are indecisive. it revolves around concepts of change, willpower, and the drive to keep going. it is tangentially related to the COVID-19 pandemic though a physical sickness is not present anywhere in the game… quite the opposite

you play as atlas, a tired sophomore who’s ready to just leave school altogether. what’s crazy though is that you can’t leave. nobody can. you’ve all been on campus and its extended neighborhood for a year straight without any contact with the outside world. your college is floating in the sky, cut off from the outside world. it’s time to fix that.

it is based VERY heavily in paper mario style combat, and is heavily inspired by games like undertale and persona 5, i would go so far as to say i hope this is an appropriate love letter to those games!! if you enjoy making friends and avoiding class, you will love this game. we are trying a lot of new things outside these games’ scopes

ideally, we get the kickstarter launched sometime after having a workable demo in mid 2025. at the moment, the majority of the demo’s soundtrack is finished, the character designs are mostly complete, and the demo’s story is 90% done. though not programmed enough to have anything tangible, the combat system is 40% complete and the UI is about 5% done. the only reason i wouldn’t be like HERES THE DEMO SCRAPS is just because i hate reading devlogs where nothing happens 😭😭

there is a secret i cannot say, but it is the reason development isn’t as quick even though it’s a two person project. just know it’s a popular mechanic for indie games to do this lately and i’m wanting to take it to a logical extreme in the most intense way possible!!!!!! which is really challenging in Unreal Engine but it is possible!

the environments and such are extremely easy and not a concern because tbh most of that is free assets we have permission to edit mixed with my hand drawn or modeled things. unironically i’m really digging the amazing world of gumball style it gives the game. i’m a huge huge perfectionist and even refuse to answer texts unless i have a perfect response so i’m polishing things as i go and am really enjoying making it!

also, we’re going to apply for multiple scholarships dedicated to things like this— with what we have so far visually we actually have a shot maybe????!!!!! i dont have any good videos on hand but the paper style is PERFECT for my art and it’s really endearing to look at and play as

i wish i could be more specific but it’s such a novel idea and i told shems i can’t talk about it anywhere for a while ugh 😭 i can’t remember my login for here on the computer but when I post some of the soundtrack snippets I will tag you in them!! the music is coming along the best so far lol

hello! I've been thinking about starting to leave image IDs on posts I reblog that don't have one yet but I'm not really sure what the best way to do it is. I've seen a ton of different formats. I've seen you talk about it so I guess I wanted to ask what is format that you prefer? I also have a question.. about describing art. most if not all described art I've seen has just been a very plain description of what's depicted, but there's no mention about the vibe, the style,.. I feel like if I lost my vision and became dependent on image IDs I'd still want to have info about how the art was laid out, if the lines are messy, if it's cell shaded or painterly, etc

simply "Digital art of a person doing a thing" just seems.. idk. it does absolutely nothing to actually describe what it looks like. to me. I feel like people who depend on these IDs deserve a little more than that? I guess I wanted to ask your opinion on this

i dont think i totally know what u mean specifically what format i prefer tbh? i prefer write mine in this format: [ID: Description goes here. End ID.] i dont write "image ID" because ID means image description, so id be writing "image image description." most people who need descriptions will recognize "ID" so theres not really a huge need to write out "image description" unless u just really want to

a lot of description styles are honestly pretty subjective! how much a person describes, especially if described by someone who struggles with language and visual processing, is largely dependent on their ability to describe what theyre seeing and the energy they have to write it

what a person prefers in a description is pretty subjective as well! ive met people who prefer descriptions as To The Point as possible, and i know some who prefer more descriptive and flowery ones. its not really possible to appeal to everyones needs, so in turn it means that how u describe something is ultimately up to ur discretion.

i dont describe details about my art like style and whatnot because i dont find it immediately relevant to what i trying to portray, if that gives u any insight. i dont find my style very important in regards to what else im trying to show people, like my characters personality and clothes, and i dont like making my descriptions lengthy because it can make them difficult to sit through and sometimes getting wordy with it makes it harder to understand

generally, there is a balance to be kept, but its also up to ur discretion to describe what u feel is important and relevant in a piece. if u think the tone and style is important and relevant, include it!

ultimately though, just about any description is better than none. no ones single description will be perfect for everyone who needs one, but its still making it more accessible than it was before

hey! thats great that you want to start writing IDs. I've reblogged guides before and ill tag this post with the tag they're in (image descriptions) so its easy to browse!

in addition to those other resources, here's some guidelines i personally keep in mind, & what i structure different IDs like.

for text transcripts: source & type of image, author, date if possible. here are some pretend/template IDs:

ID. a twitter screenshot from user @.[username] dated [date] that reads: "[tweet]." End ID.

i put the period after the @ symbol so it doesnt try to tag a nonexistent (or unrelated) user on this site, and a screenreader will just pause there briefly.

ID. a photo of a page from the book [name] by [author]. text reads: [transcript]. End ID.

if the OP cited the author/book/source, you can just do "Transcript: [text]. End transcript."

for actual images:

type of image is really important!

photograph, edited photograph, reaction image, edited reaction image, painting, digital painting, digital drawing, etc. you should always put what kind of image it is.

keep in mind the purpose of the image!

if its an art piece or a photo of one, its good to describe the medium, style, colors, and subject.

if it's a reaction image or other meme, you don't have to describe the surroundings in loving detail. the "point" of the image is enough.

if its a photograph, it might also be an art piece, or from the news, or someone sharing their pet. the amount and kind of detail again depends on the point of the image.

don't make judgements or assumptions!

dont describe things as badly drawn or badly photographed- and on the flip side, dont describe things as cute or beautiful. describe whats in the image, not how it makes you feel. if you love a certain part of how a photograph is framed, or how the light is painted in a piece of art, say that specifically. "beautiful" means nothing! do you mean realistic? vibrantly colored? "cute" means nothing! do you mean in a cartoony style? or that the subject matter is a cat, which many people find cute? be specific!

dont make statements about the gender or race of the people in the photo or art piece, especially if it's real people (like a news photo) unless you know those things as a fact (celebrities, fictional characters, people you know personally, people where it is mentioned in the article the photo is from). you can just describe things like hair length, skin tone, etc. exceptions to this rule imo are stock photos- eg if im captioning my favorite stock photo of all time, cyber woman with corn, i am going to describe it as "a stock photo of a white woman in a futuristic silver and black wraparound visor, wearing a silver bodysuit and cradling an ear of corn near her face and smiling slightly."

here are some example descriptions, all from images i have on my phone.

ID. a photo of two cats laying head to head on someones outstretched legs, which are under a blanket. one cat is an orange tabby, and the other is a gray and white splotched tabby. End ID.

the point of this image is my cats- im not going to spend time describing the blanket, the couch, the stuff you can see in the background, bc it's not relevant to the image, and adds nothing.

ID. a photo taken through a rainy window at twilight, with the camera focused on the raindrops on the glass, so the lights in the houses across the street are out of focus. the lights reflect on the wet pavement in a warm yellow glow. End ID.

i took this the other night bc i thought it looked cool how blurry it was- id consider this more of an "art" photo, so im describing the aspects of the framing etc that make it that- i wasnt just trying to show how rainy it was, but to take a photo in an interesting way, so those traits are "worth" describing.

ID. a photo of an acrylic painting done on a cardboard packing envelope of a city street at sunset, all the building windows reflecting gold. there are purple fluffy clouds in the sky, lit from below with peach and gold. the USPS tracking number barcode is still visible in the gap between houses at the end of the street. the brush strokes are very visible, the perspective is wonky, and the orange underpainting is visible at the edges. End ID.

this is a new ID for something i painted and already posted and i dont feel like getting the old ID. medium, style, and specific details i think are important are included. the perspective being wonky is a bit of a value judgement i wouldn't make about Other people's art, but it's my own and i think its an important detail so!

ID. an edited catcrumb comic, showing a simple mspaint illustration of a cat happily sorting things into piles with the caption, "sort sort. i love to arbitrarily sort." the cat has been colored in gray and its ears have been colored like homestuck troll horns, and the sorting piles replaced with some classpect symbols. End ID.

this is a good example of a edited image- its important to give (to some degree) a sense of what the original image was, say that its edited, and describe the changes. i dont need to list the classpect symbols i put on there, bc its not relevant to the message of the image- it would do nothing but make the ID longer.

1) most of us draw! we know its different with most systems but since our host grew up loving art its kinda a system wide knowledge/hobbie something we just know we gotta do like reading or writing lol does that make sense? (tho some dont enjoy it like others ect ect)

4) oh god yeah and we still struggle with how to deal with that dhdjjdd it really depends on who's wanting to draw at the same time, red and mikey usually just tag team it like molly and louis but if its like donnie and alex they usually wanna draw two separate things and it ends up like the 'this is fine' meme so basically we end up not drawing honestly lol

I can be pretty reserved on the occasion but if im with someone im close too or if i feel comfortable enough i can be pretty hyper. A lot of the time though I listen to what people say and often a listener for people. Depending on the person im with and our dynamic i can be quite sarcastic. I can be very compassionate about people and even if someone did something horrible to me I can be rather forgiving unless it was toward someone i love. I am also rather forgetful and often will forget things with people I’ve spent time with even if it’s recent I can forget a majority of it. I have a short temper. Often I will be regretful of things I’ve done in the past even if it was a while ago. 1: What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do? Ward can sit still for like.. five or ten minutes unless he's super focused on his work, and half the time he works standing anyway (in which case thats.. not nothing to do so Cooper can sit still for a decent while! He used to pride himself on sitting so quietly people forgot he was there when they were younger and he's not very successful in breaking that habit. probably around the 20-30 minute mark Rory can definitely sit still for a long time, and usually cherishes the chance to because he's so busy on the farm. WILL probably fall asleep though! Sometimes just zones out, especially after a long day or if hanging out with farm babies

7: What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling? Ward: listening to rain on umbrellas and weather reports specifically for his hometown! Also, kids science cartoons. Yeah, he likes the feeling of nostalgia, though mostly when he's not regressed (when he's little, he's too active to sit and appreciate nostalgia lol) Cooper: Books about ducklings + rubber duckies, gumballs (esp the like 25 cent ones), and sleeping bags! Her hair is white and black with a streak of red, usually kept up in a elaborate style. Adorning her hands are gloves with white lace, the rest of her outfit is a combination of white and a muted brown with accents of gold and black. She usually wears a black coat on her shoulders kept with a thin gold chain

Practising doesnt do shit if you do the same stuff all the time. The point of "practise" is not "repeat the same action over and over until magically it works", its "try a hundred different things and see what emerges that you end up being okay at". I understand your frustration cuz, fundamentally, i dont think that ppl understand how ppl get better at art. But thats my advice. Try everything at least once, and anything you enjoy, stick with it, try combine it with other things you enjoy.

I always hated blending, it ended up muddy and gross unless i spent hours rendering, which i wasnt prepared to do. So i just. Stopped. I started picking out shapes of light and shade and now thats my main thing.

If you want some specific critique and things you can try, you can dm me if you want, cuz seriously, i understand. All I will say is dont take peoples love for your stuff as a lie just because you dont see the merit in it. People see something in your art. Whether youre happy about it or not, they arent lying . You can take what they see in it, and use that as somewhat of an anchor to change things around

1&2) i did this!!!! i have so many more characters now hihihi (i made an entire spreadsheet for them btw..) stories have been going slower mainly cuz its all just in my head and not written down but!!!!!!! its there!!!!!!!

5) i actually did learn blender!!! made a total of two (2) models for school stuffs and i know the very very basics, still have a long way to go but soooo much better than last update LOLLL

6) im pretty sure i improved… like the way i view stuff has changed and i also tried a ton of new stuff!! started a sewing project (THAT I STILL NEED TO FINISH OOOOPSSS), picked up physical paints again and like just started getting comfortable w my workflow and style :DD

i dont really have any proper goals set in mind for next year except for putting together a proper portfolio and just expanding upon what i make but having this list from last year really helped me show how much i did actually end up achieving :)

I feel like the biggest issue with modern homestuck fanon is that whether people liked it or not, and how if its concidered dubiously canon or not, hs^2 and epiloge characterization has bled into fanon. the majory of hs fans hate hs^2 (and for good reason), yet Jane hate has gone up, people are being sooo unnecessarily weird about davejadekat (/all of its pairings) and bi characters in general, rosemary is deemed boring (killkillkillkill-), people don't see jake as a person will feelings, karkat?? kanaya?? trolls?? never heard of them, unless you mean those.. things we keep around to fuel the humans plots sometimes and act as the occasional therapist. karkat is probably one of if the my most favorite character, I think hes interesting as hell!!! but alot of what makes him intersting comes from how he fits against troll society/against other trolls imo??? his mutation, his dancestory/him being the litteral second coming of christ, the significance of his secretly caring personality in a violent child soldier evil murder military state and what it says about it as a whole with his role as the alternian equivalent of the 'everyman', his familial relationship with kanayah, his unique relationship with romance, etc, these things all mean jack shit to humans, and shine best around other trolls, yet all he is now is daves side bitch, i feel fanon has sorta moved away from hs and into earthC, noone really cares about alternia anymore as trolls are just seen as humans but grey. even comander!karkat focuses more on dave angst than karkat, a minority amongst his people, leading a revolution a'la signless style??

idk i just feel like hes just been watered down into the easily digestible 'angry character' who is sad sometimes for,,, resons. i feel like this disconnect from alternia in general just sort takes away depth from beta troll characters in general?? even metorstuck content now feels shallow and disconnected??

And what sucks is that i like davekat, and people are right about them being a great pairing for working out their issues together , but at the same time i miss litteraly ever other karkat ship, i miss the days of the karkat x beta trolls harem and being able to use quadrants for him without being deemed problematic for not adheering to queer identity of a race that dosent exist and dosent effect anyone because real life has no oppressive poly romance system, and im just sick if this ship reducing the characters down to a pinterest black and red asthetic moodboard when they are so much more than that.

I say this with no disrespect at all, in fact I am enthralled: I didn’t even know asks could be this long!! Thank you for your input, I agree with you! And don’t worry- you were quite clearly comprehendible! You covered a lot of ground already, but allow me just a moment to commentate on specific points…

The bleeding of HS^2/Epilogues content/reinterpretations into the larger sphere of full-fandom fanon has been a slow, insidious process. I think the fact that most people have not taken the time to reread Homestuck proper, be it due to lack of time/energy or fear of its length, has really added to this- because a gradually slipping grip on what is and is not canon simply doesn’t pair well with rather disagreeable dubiously canon sequel content having come out fairly recently. The thing about DubCanon is that, whether you or I like it or not, people are going to apply those particular reinterpretations of the characters to what their idea of canon is, and- typically- they will fail to remember that the changes made to the characters were changes in the first place. Rather large ones, at that. This is not only how and why people are out here thinking that Jane was not only legitimate Troll-Racist in Homestuck, but also how and why they get the idea that she’s always been that way.

I’m not sure if my memory is failing me or not, but as far as I remember, while biphobia has always been a problem in the fandom- baffling, considering most characters are textually bi- it really does seem like it’s at an all-time high right now. People are adamantly refusing the idea that some characters are bisexual. Dave and Karkat are the ones I see the most regularly erased, but Jake is also pretty high up there.

The current drought of Alternia content is so sad. Earth C is great, don’t get me wrong- it’s the planet I most regularly work with/develop because of Sovereignstuck- but people oft throw out the concept of conflict when using it. Especially, like, social/political conflict. Earth C is basically synonymous with Flawless Utopia, at this point. It’s a petty complaint, sure, but I don’t like it. :(

I absolutely despise how trolls have been turned into gray humans with horns! They’re bug aliens!! Bug aliens!!! That’s so much cooler than gray humans with horns!! Fuck!!

I kinda disagree that a change of setting takes away from the Beta Trolls as characters- I think the issue isn’t the fact that there’s a setting change, it’s that the writers aren’t really willing to work with the fact that, uh… You know… The Beta Trolls have vastly different socializations and come from a vastly different cultural background than the Beta/Alpha Kids? You could very easily find conflict and development with the setting change. You’d just have to keep in mind the way that their upbringing would affect them and how they’d respond to their new environment. Old habits die hard, you know? It’s a whole new planet, a whole new myriad of cultures, and whole new societies with whole new rules and whole new customs. There’s so much intrigue you could get with that fact alone!!

I like DaveKat, too. It’s fall from grace is astounding, and it’s honestly made me like them less, which is a shame because it was pretty important to me when I was younger, and Dave and Karkat used to be top favorite characters of mine. They’re basically just… Blank slate characters now, made to slap whichever miscellaneous scenario or random romance trope onto, without any regard to what their characters are or what made their dynamic good in the first place.

It’s funny- I don’t think the Quadrant Queerness was made into a huge deal in canon or anything? At least, I don’t quite remember it being a federal fucking issue. Yeah, Karkat’s Quadrant struggles were there, but I don’t think it was really… Associated with being “Troll Gay” or anything. I’m at least 80% sure that was just something the fandom latched onto and blew out of proportion- I see more talk about Karkat being “Pan-Quadrant,” I believe the term was, than I see content of any other part of his character arc? Crying shame, too- considering, again, as you said, he’s the fucking Second Coming of Jegus.

I am nonbinary and pan, no preference. Im tall- like 5'10 or something, brown eyes, dirty blonde usually long and fluffy with short bangs but I'm thinking about getting it layered short. my style varies, often I either dress quite formal and smart (smart trousers! Blouses and collard shirts! Sweaters!!!) But if im not going out i'll switch to a lot of oversized loose fitting clothes in LAYERS!!! SO MANY LAYERS!!! (im so glad flares are popular again!!!) I quite like clothes, I just refuse to wear dresses or shorts as I am quite insecure and uncomfortable in them.

I am a huge bookworm, passionate about a lot of humanities subjects, philosophy, art, history, sociology and psychology, law e.c.

People often times say I have good knowledge about a variety of subjects or have an opinion on everything.

But to be honest its either 0 or 100 with me. I'm autistic and typically go non verbal around people I am not comfortable with (i NEVER approach new people myself) and small talk is the devil i cannot do it. If I try to force myself at best I start stuttering badly 💀. I'm not too bothered by it, it's just frustrating. The only exception i'm fine 'approaching' is to talk to them is online/through writing as it puts concerns about reading social queues out the window.

However the 100 side of it, people that approach me and engage in topics i actually like... as well as people close to me, I'm the opposite, I have to have meaningful discussions and love to share ideas with people! It's like I do a complete 180! People oftentimes mistake me as being very confident if they catch me like this and dont know me very well but I think it's just because I'm moreso passionate and fixate a lot.

At my worst I become extremely avoidant and shut in, typically to be able to get out of my room I need someone I'm friends or close with that can drive me out or stay with me, otherwise I panic. (That includes ignoring basic needs, i will ignore them if i feel threatened) but so long as I have people close to me around I feel far more confident in being able to mask (for me its not always a bad thing if it helps me to be productive/actually stay alive). I cannot stand to be touched by others unless I'm expecting it but even then I'm still sensitive, but I am okay with touching others! Exihibit A! I love pampering friends and get compliments on my massages!!!! Do not do the same to me the devil takes over my body and I cannot control spasms i am not laughing of joy I am on the verge of a breakdown!!!!

As for specific hobbies: I like drawing/painting and sculpting! I LOVE board and tabletop games, chess, card games like blackjack. I like anything to do with watersports. I love to swim! Reading and writing is obviously a big one too and my most recent interest is learning to bake! (Because im dogshit at cooking)

1) the composition, posing, framing, anatomy, stylization, all has to be consistent and done with purpose. it cant be done clumsily, appear as a "regression" in my art style, or have any room for visible error beyond what I can categorize as "permissible". The process of art generally is not a very easy or smooth one, and the less time and paper space "wasted" on adjustments, the less revisions i have to make, the less i have to erase and redraw and put the entire piece on pause at a rudimentary stage lest i waste time on details that will be erased, the better.

2) I can say "i want to draw a character." okay, now what pose? what style? what focus? what composition? what outfit, color palette, tone, etc. too much decision. unless i already know what i want i just... can't. really decide.

3) Idk man I stopped drawing consistently some time during high school and just got out of a 5 year relationship during which i rewired my brain to constantly think about & create for another person to the point that even when i got out, i found that i couldn't even write or come up with ideas for myself because i was stopping every step with what someone else would want instead. the act of writing and drawing and engaging with ocs had for the past 5 years stopped being something to do for fun and instead been made into a primary and foundational means of reciprocal "proof" of interest and investment in the other person and for at least a full year and a half I stopped getting anything back. Part of my brain is still stuck in that tired, burnt out, frustrated resignation. Part of my brain is still trapped in the mindset that i have to focus on and create for someone else specifically, that i have a target audience that i need to regularly and consistently "prove" that i care about by making things not because its what I think about, but because everything i make HAS to be for someone else or else I am being self centered and neglecting my upkeep of the relationship. Part of my brain still just feels so dead, like it's given up entirely, after repeatedly putting 110% into catering wholly and perfectly to someone else with the expectation, promise, and increasingly desperate belief that it would be mutual, that it was mutual and my expectations were too high or my memory too unreliable, only to finally learn that no, i was right, i actually wasn't getting anything back, i was being fed empty promises to "try harder" and "be better for me" for years and put my full faith that change was happening, an effort was being put in, that i'm just too self-centered and want too much attention to myself to notice.

and, if i'll be honest. there were some comments made during that time about my art that have still stuck. really minor comments, well meaning, honestly pretty inoffensive (if not a bit annoying) unwelcome and unasked for critique on wips i was showing progress on, without the context of how it felt with the years of invisible, built up, unidentifiable frustration that made me a hair trigger desperately trying to validate my feelings by finding fault anywhere and everywhere. i dont want to hold onto those comments like this, but something about them is sticking, and i still feel stupidly hyper defensive over my art. they were just small, unintentionally mildly rude comments made without thinking that they could cause offense at all, but who they were coming from, the time they were said, the state i and the relationship was in- they really meant so, so much more, in a way that is kind of emblematic of everything that was wrong with the relationship. and part of me is still holding onto those feelings, i guess- maybe because it was about something that's always been deeply personal in a kind of delicate way for me?

hurgh i wish i could still just pick up a pen think of a character and draw when the fuck ever- now even if i want to draw, if i dont already have an idea of what exactly i want to draw i just... cant. i dont know if this is a result of focusing too much on quality/the "it has to be perfect or it cant exist at all" mentality, a weird kind of decision paralysis (which it actually is sometimes), or longterm effects of burnout and relying on extrinsic motivators for so long.

hmmmm i think i kiiiinda get what ur tryna say but im also not very smart so if i answer this wrong then i am sorry 👍 also this is rlly long sorry again LOL

when it comes to heavy stylization you can be pretty free as long as you make sure the thing u drawing is still recognizable as what u want it to be, so maybe if u struggling with people not being able to tell what ur drawing, ask them/ur friends how to make it look like what ur tryna draw. if that makes sense.

u also gotta keep the MAIN things that represent what ur drawing. like. whats the first thing u think of when u think of it, for example: when i think of cats, i think of long tails, unique faces, and funky poses. so when i draw a cat those are the things i KNOW i NEED to add or else it wont make sense. when i think of a dog, i think of expressive eyes, big mouths & snouts and strong legs. when i think of birds i think of very different beaks and lots of types of feather patterns & colours. that makes sense? i think? if u arent sure what the thing ur drawings main things are, LOOOK AT REFERENCES!!!!!! LOOK AT REFERENCES EVEN IF U KNOW WHAT UR DRAWINGS MAING THINGS ARE ACTUALLY!!!! TRUST ME, IT HELPS!!!!!

when it comes to MY artstyle, specifically when i draw cats, i always like to make the head the most interesting part. the head is the beginning, where i start. the head can either be a circle or a square, with a little chin added to the bottom. then on the cheeks i add the fur. the fur, imo, is one of the things that can either make or break a good design. if you make a soft, kind, motherly, cute character spiky and over detailed, people wont recognize it and it wont make sense to then, so u gotta make the character soft and round. the ears are… the ears. they are simple in shape, but strong in the emotions they convey. to me, ears down means sad, ears back means angry, ears pointed up mean interested/shocked and then a relaxed looking ear means. they are relaxed. i try to over exaggerate this alot because it helps the character show their emotion better

the face of the character is the hardest & most important to me. the size of everything on the face is very important; younger/ “cuter” characters have bigger eyes, and a less detailed muzzle while stronger/menacing characters have small eyes, a bigger muzzle & more detailed facial features. i LOVE to use eyebrows to exaggerate the emotions the character is feeling. thats also why i believe the eyebrows are one of the MOST important parts in ur art, because just changing them slightly can alter the entire way a character looks. the nose is. idk the nose is the nose i dont add anything special to it other than in i want to make a character look bratty/mad i add a little…. uhhhh… line above the nose that looks like snarling ??? i hope that makes sense. the mouth is also pretty important. i like to make the mouth extra big and think about the way a HUMAN mouth expresses emotions, instead of a cats. try not to add too much detail to the inside of the mouth aswell, UNLESS your trying to get that to be the main thing people look at

for the body, you can be pretty free with the body, ESPECIALLY when its a cat. remember this; cats are VERY flexible, so u can have alot of fun with the pose. ive seen alot of artists sketch out their poses with boxes and circles, but imo, it makes the character look stiff (unless its a person). try to sketch your cat with lots of curves, less sharp angles (unless thats what ur going for), DONT draw the fur in your sketch; it wont help and will probs just confuse u. body SHAPE is also rlly importan. similar to what i said earlier, if u draw a cat whos meant to be muscular and menacing and big, drawing them with soft, little legs and a small, round body will confuse the person looking at ur art. cat bodies irl are kinda all the same but thats BORING so u gotta mess with it. make legs and necks tall and skinny, make neck fur way too big and make ur cat look like its a body builder, make it look like a munchkin cat. HAVE FUN WITH THE BODY!! thats all im tryna tell u here. if u limit urself to realism, you’ll never develop your own special artstyle. youve gotta put a bit of creativity into ur art, yknow? make u cats look like theyre from a cartoon! make it look like a kid did it! who cares!!!!!

other important things u gotta watch out for; you MUST. size the body up enough that it looks like it could hold the head. what im saying is try not to make ur cat look like a funko pop (unless thats what ur going for then thats fine). you can still make the head big, but dont make it look like a toy (like i said, unless thats what ur going for). and when it comes to patterns & fur colours, i like to try to make the patterns look semi-realistic but i go CRAZY with the colours. ive found no matter what colours u give ur cat its probably still gonna look like a cat, so have fun!!!!!
