Spooky season needs spooky stuff.. >:3
So can I request the digital circus cast (minus Caine)meeting a Child Spirit Y/n headcanons, who like Kinda possesed/went inside the game to find they’re killer for some reason? They are eerily quiet and like to stare but if talked to very sweet but quick to snap in distrust because..well trust is what got them killed in the first place? They’re a bit bloody..and a eyeball sometimes hangs out?? Like vhs horror stuff
Sorry I’m being so descriptive,I hope you are a nice day!
OOOoo yes time for more spooks!
Also I am having a nice night, thanks! (and I hope you are having a nice day/night too!)
......
Pomni
To make a long story short, you got murdered while wearing the headset, and that tethered your spirit to TADC.
As expected, you lost memories of who you were--except for the knowledge that someone killed you because you trusted them too much, and you believed the answers were inside this very game.
Your character ends up looking like a child's ghost costume: a white bedsheet stained in blood and one of your eyeballs occasionally wanting to pop from its socket.
Caine (who was very much bewildered at your arrival) declares that you're part of an "exclusive Halloween update" and changes up the tent and grounds to have more spooky flair.
But Pomni clearly wants no part of it, and she can tell you don't either.
You're clearly a kid who is (somehow) handling the situation of being stuck in this game better than her, yet when she tries asking you about it....all you do is stare back.
She swears she can hear static noises and whispers she can't decipher--all in all getting a...very creepy vibe from you.
Initially she decides to keep her distance, afraid you were secretly some virus or Abstraction underneath that sheet.
But that changes when you're walking by the rooms one night, and you pass by Pomni's door, hearing her quietly crying.
Although you weren't inclined to get close to anybody here, you were concerned. And since you weren't actually coded into the game, you didn't have to follow any of its rules--and that allowed you to enter her room without a key.
At first you scared the shit out of her, but after realizing it's you, she lets you sit beside her, eventually venting about how badly she missed her real home.
"Everyone keeps telling me "oh this place is so much better" or "get used to it"...but what if I don't wanna do that? I don't care if my old life was bad...I-I can't take anymore of this.." Her sobs grow louder. "I wanna wake up in my own bed knowing my real name!!"
"...I miss home, too," is all you say in response. Yet it's more than enough to calm her down.
For once, you're not trying to brush her off or force her to "cheer up" and accept her reality. You made her feel heard.
"Yeah..me, too....sh-should I thank you for agreeing..?" She sniffles, seeing your subtle nod, before you leave her be, not wanting to get too attached.
Ironically, she was able to sleep a little easier after talking to you.
Jax
From the get-go, he's gonna be real nosy and curious.
Since not even Caine himself expected your arrival and found out that you don't follow the "rules" like everyone else...Jax is gonna try his damnedest to understand you and see what makes you tick.
But he's gonna be disappointed quickly since you don't respond much to him (or anybody in general).
"So...ya like Halloween?"
"........"
"....thought so. Good talk, new kid."
You definitely act like a legit ghost--doing nothing but stare, move things around, and pop up unexpectedly.
Eventually, his curiosity leads to him visiting your room (which has no key), and he discovers many drawings on the walls.
Most depicting a dead person wearing a headset.
What he found most disturbing was a journal that contained his and the others' names..
From what he's gathering...you're suspecting one of them of murdering your real world-self.
But he doesn't get much time to ponder this as you show up, angry at him for intruding.
You make yourself look even bloodier and scarier, with both of your eyeballs hanging from their sockets and staring at him.
"Get out."
Those two simple words put the fear of god in him.
Jax runs out faster than a jackrabbit, colliding with Gangle in the process. Her comedy mask falls off again, but he catches it and looks at her.
"J-Jax..?" She realizes his fur is standing up on all ends, and he looks terrified....even more than he did after realizing the circus was his forever home.
But he just shoves the mask back into her hands and leaves without saying a word.
He never speaks of what he found in your room that day.
Kinger
He thought his eyes were weird...until you came along and periodically had to put your own eyeball back into its socket.
"It's good to know I'm not alone!" He nervously chuckles, only to be met with your eerie silence.
Sometime later, he suggests showing you his insect collection, and it does pique your interest.
You did love all things "creepy" and "crawly".
Yet you're adamant about going to his pillow fortress after he invites you.
It reminds you of the ones you used to build all the time, up until...
Fortunately, Kinger recognizes your reluctance and just brings one of his bug boxes to you so you can look at it.
He could infodump about the various critters for hours, with nothing but nods and quiet "mhms" from you, and he's happy.
In general, he doesn't mind your quiet personality.
Although you still sometimes jumpscare him unintentionally like Gangle often does.
Tbh he's a good father figure and recognizes that you're just a kid who got trapped in this game unfairly.
Even so, you try to keep your distance and looks at him suspiciously if he starts acting too nice.
He was quiet aloof, and you weren't sure how he would act on any given day.
Gangle
After accidentally spooking her (by simply existing in the same room as her), she breaks her comedy mask off.
But immediately she feels guilty for screaming and tries scrambling to fix it, hoping you weren't mad at her.
Yet all you do is stare, not looking angry or anything at all (it's hard for any of the performers to see your expression in general, aside from your hanging eye, but still).
Poor Gangle is just afraid you'd turn into a scarier version of yourself.
When she keeps cutting her ribbon fingers(?) on the ceramic pieces, you come over and clean it up for her, taking it away despite your own hands bleeding.
The implications that you were able to shed blood and nobody else were a little disturbing to her..but she's glad you're not offended by her screaming.
Although she wonders where you're going with her mask..
Later on, you knock on her door and present it fully fixed.
Except...it looks more Halloweenish with an evil smile painted on it, messily glued together.
'Oh god I hope this doesn't turn me evil or anything..' She thinks, putting on a smile as she takes it anyways.
Yet you remain where you are, staring and clearly waiting for her to try it on.
And so she does, and it turns her into a very chaotic Halloween lover, acting even more mischievous than Jax and allowing her to finally get her revenge for all his pranks.
In the end, you gain a decent friendship with her, subtly protecting her from Jax's bullying.
Ragatha
Seeing that you're so distant from the rest of the gang has her worried.
Some of them might consider your loose eyeball creepy, but she's not gonna judge you on that (besides, she's missing an eye altogether so she can't say much anyways).
Howeve,r she's the first to find out how strong your distrust of everyone is.
"[Y/n]? I don't think it's good to be isolating yourself like this. I know you hate being here and Caine's a weirdo..but...we're all in this together. You can trust us-"
"Don't." You warn, putting on a frightening display of anger that sends her tumbling to the ground, sending chills up her spine.
"Trust" became something you didn't take lightly, as the last time you put your trust in someone....you ended up dead, turning into a literal ghost in the machine (that was your gaming system).
Despite this, Ragatha doesn't run away.
Like Pomni, she understands that you're just a kid who's confused and lost.....and clearly had serious trust issues.
But she's determined to help you through that, even if you keep scaring everybody away.
She's got motherly instincts, and she hopes that in due time you'll learn to warm up to her.
Zooble
"A bedsheet worn as a costume? That's a classic."
She's seen weirder things during their time in the circus, so you don't faze her too much.
Only when you snap at Ragatha or somebody who was trying to be nice to you does she raise an eyebrow.
Honestly, they 100% understand that you just wanted to be alone sometimes, and she respects that.
It's suffocating trying to act all cheery and go along with every damn activity Caine tries to get everyone involved in (but lucky for you, he can't make you follow along).
Especially since she believes he made up that stupid "Halloween update" as lazy way to explain your sudden arrival.
The only time you do interact with Zooble is after she yanks Jax by his ears, and they hear this eerie-sounding giggle behind them.
When she turns around, you're just standing there motionless, staring at her.
Somehow, they just know you were smiling underneath that costume, which makes her smile, too.
"Maybe I should pull him out a hat next time, huh?" She jokes after letting him go, and you giggle once more as he hits the ground.

A/N: the original draft got deleted and i had to rewrite it because I wanted to publish this before Halloween is over, so this is slightly rushed :(
There was something extremely eerie about the red keep that always set you on the edge whenever you would hear stories about it.
The burnt down remnants of it untouched as the city around it prospered, only developing more as the time passed on, with skyscrapers, branded shops, turning into what you would call a 'modern city'.
King's Landing was not the way it was anymore, the destruction of it provided a reason to rebuild the city entirely, it was a lengthy process but definitely worth it.
A seemingly innocent city until you look past the sky scrapers, shops, etc, revealing a sinister and a tragic history of the land, a story that involves a royal family fighting and going mad for the throne, only to succumb to their madness and go extinct.
There have been many attempts in the past to rebuild it, but all in vain as there have been cases of construction accidents, fatal injuries, suicides, making it impossible to rebuild it, so they turned it into a tourist attraction.
What a way to make money.
Yet they close it off the moment the sun begins to set.
You had visited it a lot, having been living in King's Landing for a while, it was basically harmless, making you wonder why it was rumoured to be haunted, when it's just a disfigured building with half of its structure on the ground.
It was a casual weekday for you, returning to your apartment from work after the sun had long set, you took the elevator up the building, the music abruptly coming to a stop way before you reached your floor, leaving you confused, but you soon broke out of your confusion when you heard the familiar 'ding' indicating that you reached your floor, and as soon as you left the elevator the automatic doors slammed quickly, causing a loud sound, startling you.
It seemed as if the elevator was having technical difficulties.
You make a mental note to take the elevator less often until it is fixed.
You quickly scurry to the side of your apartment, pulling the keys out and pushing it into the lockhole, turning it, which opens the door, but you stumble over something and lose your balance, holding the wall for support to not fall until you finally push yourself back onto your feet and look down.
It was a package.
But you had not ordered anything.
Weirdly enough, there was no address.
You should've left it there.
But you took it inside.
Your curiosity got the best of you, and the package not having any address only further fuelled your justification for opening it.
It was a book.
An occult type of book to be exact.
You opened it and skimmed through the pages, it seemed more like a personal diary than an instruction based book for spells.
And it was convincing enough at first until you read a certain page.
“Go to the ruins of the red keep at 3AM, and chant this, 'Oh rōvēgrie zaldrīzes dārilaros, māzigon naejot se iōragon gō nyke, ivestragī aōha kasta se melkasta laesi jurnegon rȳ nyke, iksan isse jorrāelagon hen aōha dohaeragon, kesan krenyikhé tepagon mirros ao jaelagon' for a miracle!” (Oh great dragon prince, come forward and stand before me, let your blue and purple eyes look at me, I am in need of your help, I will gladly give anything you wish.)
This made you chuckle, what kind of prank was this? This was so badly written to the point of making any paranoia you felt about this book dissipate immediately.
I mean, chanting spells? to summon a dead prince? it made you laugh, and of course the location was the red keep, a place rumoured to be haunted. It couldn't not be more obvious than that, because whatever this was, was clearly a joke.
So you pushed the book aside and settled for bed.
Sleep did not come to you.
Which you found odd.
You would usually be extremely tired, and the moment you lay on the bed, you would be pulled under the depth of slumber.
Yet now you squirmed, not being able to find any sleep.
You don't know how many hours passed, making you frustrated.
And your mind wandered off to what you had read earlier.
You glanced at the time, it read 2AM.
You purse your lips in thought, not knowing what to do.
You got up from your bed.
You knew this was a bad idea, sneaking into the red keep, with the stupid book in your hand as you navigated through the building, and then you ended up in a room with a bunch of paintings of the past targaryens.
You set the book down and kneeled, looking at the verse you were supposed to chant out loud, you bought out your phone and looked at the time, it read 2:59AM.
One more minute.
You did not know why you were doing this, normally, you were a rational person, you usually don't let your curiosity win in situations like this, having control over it, but in this case, it seems you had lost all your control, and it seemed as your mind is being controlled to do whatever was written on that page.
Besides, it's not like anything would happen.
It seemed fake after all.
Trying doesn't hurt.
You never really believed in ghosts or demons yourself, so what were you scared of?
And so as soon as the time read 3AM, you chanted the saying out loud.
You waited.
And waited.
You looked at the time, 3:10AM.
Nothing happened.
You let out a scoff, what did you expect? A demon to appear?
You collected the book and left the scene, annoyed that nothing happened, but you were also glad nothing happened at the same time.
The air felt colder than before, and lights seemed to flicker constantly whenever you crossed a street light, everything seemed out of place and odd, the buildings looked distorted.
Was your paranoid finally getting to you?
You felt a chill run up your spine.
It felt as if someone whispered in your ear, causing you to jump and look back, only to find nothing.
This was setting you on edge, you quickly walked faster back to your apartment, you frowned when you saw the "out of order" sign on the elevator, knowing that it was not there when you used it to come down prior to your visit to the red keep.
You sighed heavily and took the stairs, climbing to the floor you lived in, but for an odd reason, the stairs seemed to go on for longer, the more you climbed, the more they went on, you did not know if you were seeing things for feeling that way simply cause you were spooked, but you know for a fact that climbing 7 floors should not take more than 10 minutes at a slow pace, and yet here you were still climbing at a fast pace yet the stairs seemed to be never ending, you did not know if you were hallucinating the scribbled out floor numbers assigned to the respective floors or if they were originally like that before.
You looked down the stairwell, and it only seemed as if you climbed 3 floors, which left you baffled. You ran up as fast as you could, and to your relief you saw the '7th floor' on the board, indicating you were on your floor. You sighed in relief, making your way to your apartment, you did your best to ignore the constant flicker of lights, and what seemed like a dark figure standing from the corner of your eyes, the keys fumbled in your hands, it took you a few tries to unlock the door and when you did, you saw the figure move towards you, so you quickly rushed inside and slammed the door shut behind you.
You leaned against the door breathing heavily, closing your eyes and taking deep breaths, to try and calm your mind. You cannot tell if this was just your mind playing tricks because you're so worked up, or something odd is actually happening, but you know for the fact that whatever you were seeing was real.
Your apartment suddenly starts smelling putrid, making you scrunch up your nose. The smell was unbearable, as if thousands of dead rats were in your apartment, decaying away. It made you want to throw up, the foul scent leaving you light headed as you went towards your bedroom, to access the attached bathroom.
Luckily for you, the bedroom smelled like it usually would instead of dead rats, so you took a deep breath of the normal air, the nausea beginning to slowly fade away.
“For what have you summoned me, mortal?” a deep voice says, making you freeze in your spot, you turn around and your eyes widen in horror, as you take in the sight in front of you.
The face of a goat with horns, and scales that belonged to a dragon running down its upper body, stopping at it's elbows, black fluid dripping from its body, covering it's most intimate area, and its legs covered in scales as well, your voice was stuck in your throat, not being able to scream as the sheer panic made it unable to.
It looks confused at your horror filled face before looking down to its body and sighing annoyedly, and then its body distorts, the sound of bones cracking, flesh turning and squeezing, you watch the entire thing happen, the way its body is changing shape until it stops, making your breath hitch in your throat.
It took the form of a human man, face now mimicking a normal human, yet it was also disfigured, with a scar running up his cheek to his eyebrow, and an eye patch on his left eye, before he took it off, revealing the sapphire placed in the eye socket. His gaze was piercing, staring daggers at you, as he grew visibly frustrated at your silence.
“Can't you speak?” his voice booms across the room, causing you to snap out of your fear, and finally answer him, “I-it was an accident, I didn't mean to.” you answer and that displeases him, face now carrying the expression of a scowl.
“You followed as the book had instructed, did you not?” he asks and you nod, “Then it is no accident.”
“I did not think it would actually work, it was my mistake, please its an accident-” your voice cracks, still trying to process what was happening, trying to form words that made sense. He pushed you against the wall, his hand wrapped around your throat, long sharp nails digging into the skin of your neck, restricting the passage of air as you struggled in his grip, “On accident you say? Then you must pay the price for wasting my time.” he said darkly, and released you, causing you to fall to the ground, coughing and taking lungfuls of air.
“Should I kill you and then take your soul? Or take your soul directly and watch as the light fades from your eyes, screaming and writhing in agony in my hold.” he ponders genuinely and you gulp in fear, tears welling up in your eyes, knowing that something stupid is now costing you your life. “Please forgive me- I did not mean for any of this to happen.” you beg, voice hoarse.
“Forgive you? You should not have stifled me to begin with, now you must pay the price for your own stupidity, what shall I do hmm? My time is incredibly precious after all.” he looks down at you and you quiver in fear.
He grabs your hair and pulls you to your feet, making you stand, his hot breath fans against your face as you look up at him, and then he scans your face, taking in your features and then his eye widens as if he realised something.
And then he smiles, the grip in your hair becoming even tighter, causing you to wince in pain, “Please- let go of me- I'm sorry.” you grip his hand, trying to make him let go of the hold he has on you, “Aemond- please.” and that's when he releases you.
“Ah, so you do remember me.” he says, amused and you look at him confused, “Huh? What do you mean?” you ask him genuinely and that's when you realised you called him Aemond, it came out so naturally to the point you did not notice it.
But you still had no idea what just occurred.
Who's Aemond?
He grabs your cheeks, “I had waited so many years.”
What is he talking about?
“I won't lose you this time.” he says and before you can respond, he presses his lips against yours, one hand wrapped around your waist as the other holds the back of your head, pressing your face against him.
Your head felt hazy all of a sudden.
Why does all of this feel familiar?
You don't protest when he pushes you on the bed, climbing on top of you, you just stare at him, blinking in confusion as he tears away at your clothing, “Oh how the fashion has changed overtime, I remember last time you were wearing a black gown, mourning the death of your husband.” he whispers in your year and you feel ringing in your ear.
“What an amazing actress you were, mourning him in such a convincing way, only to get fucked by me after the funeral.” his hands trail down your body, “Such good memories, to have you underneath me, moaning my name constantly like a prayer, you were the first woman I ever desired after my death, the one who broke my curse, letting me become a true demon, it was on accident too back then.” he chuckles, he grips your pants, tearing the fabric as if it were paper.
“Until they found out of course, that you conspired with a demon, and planned the murder of your own husband.” his voice turns dark, and the ringing in your ear gets louder, your mind spins. “I remember not being able to do anything as they burned you alive at the sept, sigils placed around you to prevent me from interfering, to watch your flesh on fire as you screamed in agony, screamed my name in pain and it was then I swore that I would destroy that city.” he growled darkly.
“And so I did, possessing my own descendant and burning the city down, not too long after your passing.” he recalls with a satisfied smirk on his face, “Do you still remember my full name?” he looks at you and the ringing suddenly stops, and everything seemed to be spinning around you, his face becomes blurry and your head begins to hurt, eyes beginning to water as you feel that you were set on fire, letting out a loud scream at the sheer amount of pain coursing through your body as memories you didn't recognize flowed through your mind, you writhing below him in pain, letting out loud cries, “Shh..” he caresses your head and suddenly the pain stops, making you breath heavily, making you close your eyes.
“Aemond Targaryen.” you hear your own voice speak and you open your eyes to look at him, he has a smirk on his face, a small smile grazes your face as well, lifting your hand up to caress his cheek, pulling his face towards you to kiss you, lips engulfing his, you breathe in his scent, and he suddenly doesn't smell putrid anymore, but instead of cloves and ash.
“Fucking cunts, all of them, they remained silent all throughout the time i was abused by him, but the moment I get my own revenge, they burnt me alive.” you say after pulling away from the kiss, gritting your teeth.
You felt so confused with yourself.
Both memories of your past life and current life clashing against each other, fighting for dominance, to decide who you were.
“It's over my love, I burnt them all down.” he kisses down your neck, to your breasts, and down to your cunt, pressing kisses to your inner thighs. You smile at him, spreading your legs wide for him to settle freely and latch his lips onto your clit, making you throw your head back when you feel his tongue move skillfully against the bundle of nerves, you grip his hair, shoving his face further into your cunt.
“Fuck- you taste the same as I remember, I missed this cunt so much, seven hells.” he curses, licking away at your cunt, you moan as his sharp teeth grazes your clit. “Watch your teeth-” you whimper, feeling his fingers prod at your entrance, before gently pushing them in. He pulls away from your cunt and watches his own fingers be engulfed by your cunt as he thrusts them in and out, he groans at the sight, wishing it was his cock plunging inside you. “Goodness gracious, you're so fucking divine.” he murmers before latching on your cunt again, tongue swirling against your bud.
You feel the band in your stomach, “Aemond, I'm cumming- I'm- fuck-!” you reach your peaking on his hands, back arched as the orgasm ripples through your body. You breath heavily and watch aemond climb up, his knees on the mattress of your bed as he bends your legs, your knees pressing to your chest.
You watch as he grabs his cock, your eyes widening at the sheer size of it before flitting over to his own, he smirks, “Aemond it won't fit-” you whine but he shushes you, “You took it with no problem before, tis the same.” he lines in up against your entrance, “But still-”
“Remember when we did it the first time, you said it wouldn't fit? Only to have you crying and cumming all over my cock like a common whore.” he says and you sigh, remembering the memory.
He slowly pushes his cock inside you, taking his own time, throwing his head back in pleasure, “Seven hells, you feel so fucking good, the gods be damned.” he grunts, feeling pleasure at the way your cunt is wrapped around him so perfectly. You grip the sheets below you for support, clenching your eyes shut as you try to adjust to him.
He grabs a hold of your legs, throwing them over his shoulder before he grabs your hips and starts thrusting in and out of you, making your body jolt up and down the bed at the force. Your moans of his name soon fill the room, and he moans too, closing his eye in pleasure as he continuously shoves his cock in and out of you.
He opens his eye to look down, only to smirk when he sees the outline of his cock in your lower abdomen whenever he thrusts fully inside, he presses a hand against it and you squirm, the pleasure amplifying, making your toes curl.
He leans down, causing your legs to fall off his shoulder and be pushed up against your chest one more, his long black tongue enters inside your mouth, extending far back into your throat making you gag before he pulls it back, finally letting both your lips meet. Your hands shoot up to his hair pushing him against you, he hums in satisfaction. His scales are back on his body, along with his horns, partly turning into his demonic form, you feel him grow in size, both height and mass, and eventually down there, which rips an orgasm from you, wetness flowing down your hole and dirtying the sheets and you choke on your own spit at the sudden peak.
He pulls out, and you look at him in confusion, knowing he didn't peak yet, but soon the confusion is replaced with anticipation as he flips you around onto your stomach, your body knows what to do immediately and you support yourself on your arms and knees. Aemond doesn't waste another moment before pushing himself inside you, letting out a loud moan when he feels you clench around him.
His pace is brutal and fast, only seeming to care about his own pleasure, he grabs you by your hair and tugs on it, causing you to curve your head backward but not lean back, he's fucking you like an animal in heat, the size difference making it easy to manhandle you as he wishes.
He soon feels his peak arriving after pounding into you like a madman, and he spills himself deep inside you, cumming so much to the point it makes you feel bloated and so full, you whine when you feel his pull out. He watches as his seed leaks out of you, gathering it with his index finger and tasting it, humming at it.
“I wish my seed takes.” he mutters.
He turns you on your back again, and holds your legs wide and spread apart, and spits on your cunt, before leaning down, holding your thighs apart and once again presses his warm mouth against your cunt, only this time he shoves his long tongue down your hole, you can feel him licking around there, eating up his own spend, and that's when he flicks his tongue upwards inside you, grazing your gspot and your thighs shut around his head, trying to prevent him from making you cum again, too overstimulated and tired.
“Aemond- another time, please- I'm so tired.” you whine, your eyes closing, and he listens to you, pulling away, withdrawing his tongue from inside of you. He climbs next to you in bed, shifting into his full human form again and pulling you close.
“I won't let anyone take you away from me now.” he murmurs in your ear and you nod, turning and snuggling close to him.
There were so many questions left unanswered.
Each and everything was an odd occurrence.
From the encounter of the package to you summoning a demon, who turned out to be the one you loved & fucked in your past life, even conspiring with him to kill your abusive husband, and to fucking him again, and now laying safely wrapped in his arms.
Who was the one that sent you the package then?
Just then you remember an odd event.
You remembered the text and pictures of the book with a bunch of spells and summoning rituals, you hadn't noticed it then but it was the same handwriting as yours.
It was your diary.
And you remember losing it the day right before you were burnt to death.
And you remember writing the words you had heard in your dream, confused back then as what "3AM" meant.
You did not want to dwell on this anymore.
Because you realised that it would drive into madness.
And so, you drifted off into slumber in the arms of your beloved.

in honor of spooky month, I think the harbingers going trick-or-treating(or watching a horror movie) would be entertaining
(I'm the same anon who asked about the "reader who's good at drawing thing" :D)
You have specifically asked, and I have answered dear friend!
The Harbingers and Y/N are still in modern world and NOT Teyvat. Just thought I'd put that out there.
Also, I added something my family and I used to do when I was really young! (Obviously this was way before lockdown so there was no shortage of toilet paper lol) Not sure if its the regular thing but I hardly see the tradition on the media anywhere...
This was posted before the Insatiable Madness (9) was published! (meaning there could be some things mentioned to keep in mind for the future of the series... 👀)
Decided to post this 2 hours early because I was bored and didn't want to wait for the 12 o'clock mark lol.
Insatiable Madness
Diverted-Dimension (Halloween 2023)
|Sagau Yandere Fatui Harbingers x Reader|
Where am I..? This doesn't feel like the main storyline.
Reader is Gender Neutral!
"You mean to tell me it's normal to wrap yourself in waste as a tradition?" Signora threw the toilet paper at you, her face telling you all you need to see.
"Pleeeeease? I promise it's clean!" You begged her, picking up the toilet paper she threw at you and offering it to back her.
"Absolutely not. Why would someone, besides Childe, have fun by wrapping themselves up in that nonesense?"
"I agree with Signora." Pantalone gently coughed into his hand. "Why would one choose to have filth around them for amusement?"
"You lot are sour little bitches."
"How DARE you--"
"Either way, it can't be too bad. Especially since this tradition has been around for atleast a century." You smiled at Childe rolling around in the toilet paper.
"I think it looks fun!" Columbina pitched in, her head wrapped in toilet paper delicately.
"Of course you would, you brown-noser. Anything you see Y/N do is an instant hobby to your personality." Scaramouche glared at her, sitting on the sofa behind her.
"Well, not like you had a personality to begin with."
All the Damselette did in response was giggle, and continued to look your way. "It's my turn now!"
"Your turn to do... what?"
"To wrap you of course! Didn't you say the whole point was who could wrap each other the fastest?" She made a 'grabby hands' motion.
Oh dear, this doesn't look good.
"Yeah, Y/n..." Scaramouche teased, tossing the toilet paper in his hand up and down. "Let's wrap you up."
"You changed your mind very quickly. Are you sure you weren't feeling sad that you were missing out?"
"Of course not." He scoffed. "Hey, Damsel. I'm going for their mouth first, you do their legs."
"Perfect, that way they can't run away!~" She giggled once more.
Haha... I'm in danger-
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
You don't know how long you've been tied up with toilet paper. You reckon it's been a good hour of Columbina singing as she worked on your 'Wedding Gown'.
Scaramouche also had fun wrapping your entire head very tightly. Thankfully, Pierro cut your eyes and nose loose when you complained you couldn't breathe.
"Y/N!! You look so pretty!" Columbina clapped in delight, a wide smile on her face.
Scaramouche just stayed silent, clutching a hand to his mouth trying not to laugh.
"Thanks everyone, I definitely see you trying to help me." Is what you would have said if it weren't for the tight toilet paper wrapped around your mouth, practically gagging you.
"Now, now," Pulcinella interjected the laughing, holding your back when realising you were about to fall over.
"Let's not tease them too much, they planned our night out did they not?"
"Oh, right, they did!" Childe piped up, looking behind him and cringing at the strips of toilet paper he shredded.
I am not cleaning that up for him.
"You rarely ever let us out of the house, I'm excited to see the neighbourhood you live in!"
"One, there's a very good reason for why I don't let anyone out the house. Two, how on Earth could you be excited about my neighbourhood?" You finally managed to rip through the tissue around your mouth.
"Who said you could unsilence yourself? I enjoyed the brief moment of peace we had without your squealing." Sandrone scoffed.
"I did, plus, I was starting to choke on it and my throat feels very dry now... No, Dottore, I don't need any of your pois-- I mean medicine."
"What an insult." He shook his head in disappointment.
"Should we all get ready to begin going out? Before we know it, it'll be 9 o'clock and people will begin to walk around." You suggested, watching Dottore roll his eyes.
"I agree, however, you never mentioned why we'll be going out tonight." Arlecchino said.
"Well, on Halloween there's this tradition we have---"
"Another one?" Signora sighed, her boredom being evident from her tone.
"...You do realise festivals don't just have one tradition right?" You sighed back at her.
"As I was saying, on Halloween we dress up as things we find 'spooky', and 'scary'. Some even cosplay as their favourite fictional characters! Then, at night, you walk around with neighbourhood with bowls knocking on doors for sweets! It's pretty delicious I'm not gonna lie."
"Can't we just dress up as ourselves? I often hear my soldiers gossiping about us Harbingers when they think I'm not listening. Are we scary?" Capitano suggested with a heavy voice.
"I mean... sure, you do come off that way when you walk around killing people just because you can't find one person."
"Haha, very funny." Sandrone looked at you, tapping her finger on the arm of the sofa opposite to you.
"I hate sugar." Scaramouche rolled his eyes at your explanation.
"Oh yeah! I forgot you don't like anything sweet!"
"Anyway, I would prefer it if you didn't dress as yourselves, you'll look very out of place." You sighed.
"Yeah, no. I'm not dressing up at all."
"Well, I'll be going as an angel! I saw on your... phone? (I think that's what you called it) A lot of people were dressing up as one and I wanted to see if it suited me!" Columbina showed a white dress in front of your eyes.
"Where did you get that? I didn't give you permission to go into my room - especially my wardrobe. I haven't even worn it yet!"
"I thought it looked really pretty!"
"That is not a solid argument!" You argued back.
"Now, now, you two..." Pulcinella put his hands on your shoulder and hers.
"Let us not show animosity towards eachother."
"Oh, so she can steal my shit but can't atleast apologise for keeping it in her possessions without telling me?"
"You didn't even notice it was gone. I don't understand the source of your anger~" She giggled at you.
"You're lucky you're a harbinger keeping me here against my will."
"Are you two finished now?" Pierro grumbled. "We have a long evening ahead of us."
"'We'? I thought you insisted you didn't want to come?"
"That is true, however, I cannot help but worry about the Damselette and the likes of you going off together causing trouble only the Tsaritsa will remember."
"Dude, she's not even here--"
"Let's change topic." Arlecchino sighed to herself, watching Columbina run off with your dress somewhere.
"She asked me to also dress as an angel with her, the one with black wings instead."
"Oh, you mean a fallen angel?" You sighed, a headache beginning to form inside your mind.
"Let me guess, you want to borrow one of my dresses too?"
"No, that wouldn't be courteous. Besides, it would be very tight on me if I were to wear one."
"Thanks for insinuating I'm small."
"That is not what I meant."
"Heyy, Decider? What should I wear?" Childe enthusiastically threw himself on the sofa next to you.
You shrugged as a reply.
"If you don't assign me a character, I'll steal the Captain's clothes and dress up as him."
"Please don't." Capitano walked off.
"Just be a corpse. You'll be one in less than a hundred years anyway." Scaramouche suggested, smirking at his own joke.
"I actually like that idea a lot." You smiled with him. "Rather than a corpse, just be a zombie."
"Ehhhh? You mean like that girl at Bubu Pharmacy!? Y/N you're so mean!"
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
"You... You lot are so boring."
"Fuck off, I am not in the mood." Scaramouche folded his arms with a scornful face.
One by one the harbingers all met outside your front door. The idea was they were supposed to come out when they'd dressed up and finished getting ready.
Unfortunately, they all didn't dress up and went in their Harbinger coats.
"Alright, I understand some of you not wanting to dress up. But what happened to those of you saying you would?" You asked, feeling slightly betrayed.
"Believe me, I was going to!" Childe looked at you guiltily.
"No you didn't you big liar, you took one look at the costumes available and left the room." Arlecchino scolded him.
"I'm sorry okay!? Won't you forgive me?" He blinked very fast, mocking a begging expression.
"I'll be honest," You struggled to contain your laughter. "I really wasn't expecting anyone to dress up."
"Ehhh? But what about you putting options for us to dress as?"
You simply shrugged with a wonky smirk.
"Well, I'm glad we all have what happened earlier behind us, as well as getting out of the house in one piece." Pierro coughed into his hand, eyeing Columbina.
"So... You're not mad at me for stea-- borrowing your dress?" She asked you hopefully.
"No, I'm still pissed off."
"Aww..."
"Can we just leave, please?" Dottore groaned into his hand. "I'd like to finish the episode of the show I was watching."
"And I would like to distract myself from all of you impudent bastards - but oh look, I'm forced against my will." Sandrone gave a frown to you.
"Haha, very funny." You mocked her words from earlier, the mechanic's frown turning into an angry look.
"Oh... my... gosh. LOOK AT THOSE COSPLAYERS!!" Loud voices exclaimed from over your garden fence.
"Destiny, you're right! They look so... real!"
Oh no...
"Are they referring to us?" Arlecchino whispered to Pierro, the two harbingers sighing when seeing Childe walk up to the two girls.
"Of course they are," Signora answered the man for him. "They're pointing and talking whilst staring at us."
"How unmannered."
"Alright, alright, alright!" You called out to everyone around you after hearing the conversation behind you.
"We need to head up the street north, as that's where I usually trick or treat. Plus, the neighbours are nice there which is a great bonus."
"If you could move away from the gate?" Your attention turned to the girls, a stern expression on your face.
"Oh, yeah, sorry... We just got a bit excited." One of the girls holding their phones apologised.
They walked away and you soon turned to face the clueless Harbingers stood behind you.
"This is why I wanted you to dress up! You'll be noticed so much easier when you're dressed like how you were in the trailer!"
"Trailer?" Pantalone questioned you.
"Nevermind. I forgot everyone around me in this house is clueless."
"Clueless? Clueless about what?"
"As I said before, it doesn't matter. Let's go get some sweets!" You cheered, ignoring Pantalone nudging you for an answer.
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
"Oh... Life is sweet, life is good!" You praised the Harbingers after asking them to empty the bowls you gave them.
Somehow, although you knew there were a lot of you, you'd rounded up with a mountain of chocolate bars and colourful sweet packets. And calling it a mountain wasn't an exaggeration, it practically covered your coffee table.
"And this, my friends, is the triumph of our labour."
"I'll be honest though, it'll last me less than a week knowing me." You began picking out your favourite chocolates.
"That is not healthy, how are your teeth not rotting?" Dottore muttered, turning to your face and inspecting you.
"I'm blessed."
"You are definitely not." He mused, opening your mouth and looking inside at your teeth.
"Hwwey!" You tried to voice a complain.
"Ugh, just let them destroy their mouth. They'll learn that their pleasure will be their downfall." Scaramouche scoffed, pushing the doctor off of you.
Pantalone then laughed at the two in front of him. "I can always pay for them to get new teeth."
"Why would you need to pay when you have a qualified doctor in the house?"
"Qualified doctor?" Sandrone chuckled to herself. "More like insane experimental scientist."
"You little--"
"That's where you're wrong, they're simply heartless businessmen as I have always stated in the past." Arlecchino shook her head.
You glared at the Harbingers bickering as if you weren't next to them, and continued to pick and sort out the sweets covering your table.
I can never get a days peace. You shook your head, collecting and sharing the packets with Childe and Columbina on your left and right.

Spooky season fairytales (3)
We saw how the myth of the witch was reinvented with "Hansel and Gretel". Our look at "Snow White" led us to vampires. To complete our triad of Halloween monsters, we just need a werewolf - and you know exactly which fairytale will come next in my "Spooky season" series.
It is no surprise that "Little Red Riding Hood" gave plenty of material to horror-movie makers and creators of dark fantasy. It is after all one of the darkest fairytales of France (because yes, fairytale historians have traced back the story's roots to France, before it was passed on by French immigrants eastward to Germanic countries). And when it comes to movies about Little Red Riding Hood, there is ONE movie that must be talked about...
"The Company of Wolves".
Who among fairytale fans hasn't heard of this brilliant, wonderful, poetic movie? It is one of those movies that truly manage to create a dark and haunting fairytale that FEELS fairytale-like. The plot is simple. It is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, in a "soft fairytale world" (things seem pretty normal, but there and there you have weird details, such as fur scarfs coming to life or eggs hatching jewels), and with a werewolf as the "big bad wolf". Or rather, the plot SEEMS simple - because this whole movie is framed as the dream of a modern-day girl, allowing for the story to unfold using dream logic and a heavy use of symbolism (perfect for a fairytale adaptation). Because this movie also explores the underlying motifs present in the original tale of sexuality, and the sexual maturation or blossoming of a young girl - this is due to the movie's original inspiration being the dark and feminists short stories of Angela Carter's "The Bloody Chamber". And because in the bigger Little Red Riding Hood tale, the movie intertwines folkloric European legends of werewolves, in all their disturbing glory.
This movie is truly great, and I cannot recommend it enough. It manages to be everything at once: a poetic dream, a magical fairytale, a disturbing horror piece, a sad tragedy... And it allies with greatness the creepy werewolf folklore of Europe with the fae charm of fairytales. Plus this 80s American fantasy movies goodness. And Angela friggin' Lansbury plays the grandmother! What else do you want? Even outside of a simple "Little Red Riding Hood" adaptation, this movie is one of the great "dark fairytale fantasies" of cinema.
This movie also calls for another piece, that is frequently put side by side with it (for... thematic reasons more than shared quality). I am talking of 2011's "Red Riding Hood".
I am placing this movie here not because I want to praise it, but just because... Well it exists, and I must make a mention of it.
This movie is not... not good. It's not bad, not good. It is definitively not the best Red Riding Hood movie, and if you want to see a werewolf Little Red Riding Hood movie, go watch "The Company of Wolves", it is the best and will never be overshadowed. But this piece... It is conventional and expected. It takes all the plot directions expected with a "dark fantasy mature take" on Little Red Riding Hood - nothing surprising or inventive. It is a "village plagued by werewolf" story, mixed with a "wolf hunt" making it a dark fantasy "whoddunit" which is not even trying its best to engage the viewer in the mystery, making everybody a superficial candidate... And it is also a very conventional "girl stuck between two boys" romance-teenage-triangle.
It has everything that is needed to explore Little Red Riding Hood, and everything that was well-done in "The Company of Wolves"... But it is all treated in a very flat and superficial way, making it a sort of "empty" piece. Little Red Riding Hood, the original tale, is meant to be a tale about desire and female sexuality and seduction, and so making the main character a young girl stuck in an impossible romance outside of the "straight path" of marriage is an interesting take... But it goes nowhere. Here and there you have this little sparks of interesting ideas or clever concepts - the pig-and-sheep masquerade at the celebrations, the silver fingernails of the werewolf hunter, the werewolf speaking telepathically to the character of Red Riding Hood (Valerie)... But they're just little crumbs in a big bland soup.
And there's also the problem of this movie taking itself too seriously and not having any self-awareness - making it so, personally, I couldn't take it seriously in the beginning. If you watch it,you'll see what I mean - by taking itself too seriously during specific moments, or playing too straight some passages, the movie makes itself ridiculous. Overall, not a great movie AT ALL, and to watch only if you enjoy your bland, neutral, average "dark romance in the middle of werewolf hunts" piece. But it exists, so it must appear somewhere.
After this stale piece, let's move on to...
Freeway, the 1996 movie
You'll frequently see it pop up in the lists of "dark fairytale movies" and "horror Little Red Riding Hood" adaptations - though to call this a "fairytale movie" is not a good description. As the tagline of the movie says, "Her life's no fairytale".
"Freeway" is an attempt at completely deconstructing the "Little Red Riding Hood" story by removing all form of magic or wonder from it, only leaving a disturbing, bleak, though still excentric and extravagant story. It is a dark comedy constantly oscillating between a violent and crude slapstick comedy, and a realistic horror movie. Featuring stars such as Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland (and with music by Danny Elfman, no less!), this little cult movie is still the story of a girl wearing a red piece of clothing going to see her grandmother's house and encountering on the way a predator... Except the little girl in red is here a semi-illiterate teenage delinquant with anger issues in a red leather jacket... She is on the run from child services after her prostitute of a mother and her junkie of a stepfather got arrested... The "huntsman" is a pair of inefficient, though well-meaning, cops... And the wolf is a sociopathic, necrophiliac, serial killer.
This makes it all sound as if the movie was a dreary full horror piece - but it is actually not. The main character is a very excentric, fiery, fierce, though not that bright, girl who constantly fights backs with sass everything and everyone, there is a dark and morbid humor all throughout the movie balancing very sad and uncomfortable moments, many of the characters are disturbingly realistic caricatures or stereotypes pushed to cartoonish levels, and overall it all feels more like a very violent and grand-guignolesque crime piece/road trip.
I want to mention another movie while talking about "Freeway" - the 2000s movie known as "Hard Candy". You will often find this movie on lists of Red Riding Hood adaptations - DO NOT GET FOOLED! "Hard Candy" is not a Little Red Riding Hood adaptation. It is a very bleak, very hard to watch, very creepy horror movie about mental and physical torture, and exploring the various aspects of human perversion, in a confined setting with a limited cast of characters - and yes, it does invoke a "Red Riding Hood" imagery... but just in the opening and advertising, and the movie has nothing to do with the fairytale. You can watch it if you want, but be ready, because it is one of those movies that mess up your stomach and your soul, and it is not for the faint of heart, as it is a VERY very bleak piece.
"Freeway" is also bleak, but in a more campy way (yes, you can have "campy bleak") typical of dark comedies. And "Freeway", unlike "Hard Candy", is an ACTUAL Little Red Riding Hood adaptation. Not only does it base its story and characters on the fairytale, making sure to have the key-moments of the original plot, and the character archetypes explored (the big bad wolf becoming a serial killer predator) or deconstructed (Little Red Riding Hood is still a dumb girl hunted by the wolf, but she fights back and is ready to kick ass and is used to the most vile sides of humanity), but it also fully embraces one part of the Little Red Riding Hood heritage. The cartoon adaptations of the first half of the 20th century - those little short cartoons that heavily explored the fairytale in a caricatural way, especially sexual (like the very famous Tex Avery short). Not only are there direct references to those cartoons in the movie, it also fully embraces the entire ambiance. The "slapstick" and "cartoonish" feels of this movie come right from there. Yes, they removed all the magic and wonders to have a sordid realistic tale, yes this is a borderline true crime story about a serial killer, and an ineffective police system, and what it is like growing up in poverty, drugs and prostitution... But it embraces the feel of the classic Looney Tunes/Tex Avery cartoon world, with extravagant caricatural characters, and an abundance of senseless unexpected violence that doesn't even feel real sometimes. And by making all that, the movie reinstills a form of "magic" in the tale - but this "cartoon" magic which is able to make disturbing moments about a human-looking monster trying to kill you look ridiculous and almost laughable as if it was some sort of clown performance.
Overall this movie is a really bizarre little piece that reflects a very specific type of cartoonishly-comedic-but-still-bleak-and-morbid small movies that tend to frequently pop up in the USA. You know the ones, these pieces that are about disturbed subjects or tragic characters, but are still made in such bizarre and unexpected ways they almost verge on surreal comedy - like Lynch's Wild at Heart (which itself was a "fairytale" take somehow, since it is technically speaking a Wizard of Oz movie) or the Harmony Korine movies.
And to close off this post, a special mention to a classic movie of the Halloween season...
Trick 'r Treat, THE Halloween horror movie by Michael Dougherty (the man who later was behind THE new classic Christmas horror movie, "Krampus")
Trick 'r Treat was Dougherty's attempt at creating an iconic "mascot" for Halloween, in the person of Sam, the little creepy-costumed child/demon enforcing the rules of the old Celtic holiday... This dark, fun, morbid, perfectly Halloween-y movie, developed out of previous animated short-films, is actually an anthology piece collecting a handful of various stories... And the reason this movie appears on this list is because of the segment "Surprise Party", which is heavily referencing "Little Red Riding Hood". An unsecure young woman is invited by her outgoing friends at an Halloween party in the woods, and she picks up a Little Red Riding Hood costume, but as she is making her way throughout the city in a full Halloween parade, she realizes a strange man is following her... There is a twist, so I won't reveal much (beyond the fact it all implies vampires and werewolves stories), but the important thing is how the twist is delivered, and how the segment ends. A scene wich has marked the cinematic lore of the creature it depicts, and which has also influenced a LOT of people on the Internet during the end of the 2000s (for example, boosting up the "Sweet Dreams" cover of Marilyn Manson)

My Favourite Horror Movies
If I want to make any friends on tumblr it'll be important for you to know what type of movies I enjoy... so here it is. Please let me know if you like any of these, I love talking about them!
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
I will never forget the feeling of watching TCM for the first time. It was the middle of a hot summer afternoon, broad daylight… and it still freaked me out more than anything else I had watched. I was on edge and jumpy for the rest of the day and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It felt like I’d just seen something terrible. The way that it persisted in my mind is what led me to rewatching it a few months later. I was still deeply affected this time, but I also started seeing what people mean when they say this is a comedy. I also find Leatherface to be one of my favourite horror villains of all time. You can tell how he is just as afraid as his victims are, which makes for a really uniquely compelling character.
This movie is my biggest comfort watch just because of the way it fully captivates me every time I watch it. I can’t guarantee that this is how it will impact everyone, but it definitely is a huge influence on my taste in movies in general!
Saw (2004)
I’d shied away from watching this Saw after hearing so many torture pron accusations, but eventually a friend convinced me to give it a shot, and I was just blown away by how fun and twisty it is! The set is just so grimy and atmospheric, and I loved every turn. It has some of the best plot twists I’ve seen in horror, and it’s just so captivating from beginning to end. I can’t really say too much without spoiling the whole thing, but if you’ve been hesitant to watch it because of its reputation, please just give it a shot.
Christine (1983)
I’ll be honest, I think I’m more in love with the version of this movie in my head than the one I see on screen. That doesn’t make me enjoy it any less, but I feel like a warning was in order. But the summer vibes of this movie are just so fun and I love Arnie’s evolution throughout the movie (even if it’s a little sudden). He's probably one of my favourite horror characters for that reason. It’s just so fun to watch him go from a bullied nerd with broken glasses (who reminds me of myself) to a cruel murderer who someone developed perfect vision. Maybe it’s a bit of a power fantasy, but there’s always something so satisfying about a victim taking on his bullies.
Trick 'r Treat (2007)
I love this one mostly for getting myself into the Halloween spirit each year. It reminds me of how Halloween felt as a child, just a fun watch overall. It’s very impressive as an anthology that doesn’t feel clunky because all of the subplots tie together so nicely into one continuous storyline. Plus it's surprisingly lighthearted and funny, so it definitely captures those cozy spooky vibes instead of the dark grunge that a lot of horror seems to be going for.

More amazing games this last couple of months! Mostly from crowd funds, but with a couple of birthday gifts and the first installment of Zine Club in the mix!!
Here's a breakdown with some "why I wanted to check 'em out" hype!
DCC - Sailors on a Starless Sea: I recently got a copy of Dungeon Crawl Classics, and asked folks in the Plus One Exp Discord for recommendations, because I'd seen a few of 'em talk about DCC. This had at least two people recommend it! So, I'll be skimming it.
Emerald Templars: I was initially intrigued because of the South American creators and focus of the game, and can't wait to explore it further. The art and the overall quality of the book look great, and I definitely love seeing Fantasy stuff that's not Euro-centric.
Lichoma: Billed as a "meatpunk" game, I really needed to know what that meant. It's a dark, violent and interesting game with some neat mechanics (at least per the stream I watched).
Convictor Drive: This hit crowdfunders around the same time as the Dark Souls 5e came out, and I think while the Cowboy Bebop RPG was crowdfunding. So I was on a kick of really wanting to see more Japanese games get translated and brought stateside, which this was. It's an exosuit procedural super-detective kind of game, which intrigued me, even beyond the JP angle.
Overisles, Inspirisles, and the Shaping Deck: This one I'd been aware of for a while, having gotten Overisles in a Bundle years ago. It's an RPG that uses American or British Sign Language as part of the mechanics. It's supposed to help you learn ASL or BSL, and I've always been curious about those languages. The books are gorgeous, and they came with a pin and 2 really beautiful booksmarks
The Wizards & the Wastes: Big fan of Snow's work in general, but what got me (aside from the Howl's Moving Castle touchstone) was the ability to use art you already own (books, poems, music) as a focus for your character's magical abilities. It's a really gorgeous book and I've been wanting to bring it to a table. I also really love the mechanic where you bring someone from outside the game in to solve disputes.
Crush Depth Apparition: Spooky submarine horror is a good concept on its own, but I was also excited because it just looked so stylish. Plus, another thing through Snow's store, so I was into it.
Girl by Moonlight: Sailor Moon but make it Forged in the Dark. I'm in! Partner and I have been watching the original Sailor Moon. I've been playing and enjoying Beam Saber, and I kind of love the way FitD games deal with character growth.
Wreck this Deck: The pitch is: You trap demons in a deck of cards, and actually mark the cards as you go, creating a neat artifact of play as you go. So after a few plays, you have this really ominous deck of cards, some of which are super messed up or even missing. It's a rad idea, and I'm looking forward to messing up a $3 Bicycle deck.
Guys in Chairs/Spin The Bottle: This is part of the Zine Club shipment for the month, but I'm also a big fan of Dillin's work. I heard them play Guys in Chairs on Party of One, and it's a great game.
1978 - The Night They Came Home (and a Trick-or-Treat bag with rollable tables because why not): I backed this before I ever saw Halloween, but having gotten into those movies this past spooky season, I'm really into this. 2-player game where one of you is the killer, and the other is the person trying to run.
Fox Curio's Floating Bookshop: This looks beautiful, pastoral, and I love a good spiral binding. It's a journaling RPG about someone who runs a bookshop that floats up and down the river. It's super cute and I love it.
Nasty, Brutish, and Long: Friends at the Table put me in a revolutionary action mood, but I also really like the work that Not Writing Games puts out. Also been on a bit of a FitD kick lately (as previously established). I'm also going to pass by making jokes about the name.
The Corrupted: The other half of the Zine Club shipment for the month. I've heard extremely good things about this, and zombie horror is a fantastic genre in general. So I'm hype to dig in.
Hark! Says the Frog Magus: When this was first announced, I was bummed because I'd just lost my job and wasn't sure I'd be able to justify a purchase. So, a friend preordered it as a birthday gift (same friend later got me a different gift because they're a monster). Sin's work in general is rad, and this is adorable but also a great adventure, so I needed it.
I will take a second to highlight these two!
They came from the Plus One EXP Zine Club, and the sticker did too! And it's such a rad thing. A monthly subscription that brings some zines to my door, supports indie creators, and keeps the lights on for a community I care about. All Wins all the time.
I also received the expansion for Return to Dark Tower. I haven't really played Covenant yet, but I'm excited to try it out, because it adds some rad new models and some cool new classes, and a whole bunch of new skulls for the Tower.

yeah I am pretty young lmao, I'll spare you from another playlist by just naming some artists that gave me inspiration for god knows at some point
first off you mentioned Hozier, which I kinda only mention because he released a new album recently. Arctic Monkeys and Father John Misty are kinda in the same boat as him. More like the same lake.
The Amazing Devil and The Oh Hellos never fail to give me some sort of D&D/character inspiration. Ghost does?? something??? as well with characters, but specific ones. Same with Steam Powered Giraffe.
other than that, Library Magic by The Head And The Heart is very Wizard, along with The Magician by Andy Shauf. and because I just can't go without mentioning it, Queen is my favorite band. :)
that's all! with any luck it'll end up being useful somehow lol
hozier is one of those artists who i dont listen to on purpose like ever i dont thinki could name a single song of his with confidence BUT i know his voice starkly as one i really lusted after pre-t. i saw he just dropped a new album and i HAVE to give it a listen to especially the video of sssomething or other (full album mv??? pLEASE) because it stars domnall gleeson and i am still horny for that man even after all these years (he's the actor for hux for context lmao)
queen is also one of my long time favs, though definitely a band i dont know in and out the way i do with a lot of more modern punk bands lmao. freddie has and always will be Gender (god the video for i want to break free was IT for me in like 8th grade right around when i came out)
ive seen spg live before!! they are *great* experience even if you're not deep into the lore (i had friends who were big lore fans). i have heard precisely One And A Half Ghost Songs and im keeping it that way on purpose because its just sooooooo funny that im not into them because aesthetically they are way up my alley (and one of my sibs, a number of irl buddies, and MANY artists i follow are all nuts for them)
ive some passing familiarity with the artic monkeys, enough that i can pick out a number of their more popular songs on the radio even if i cant name them (i am garbage at song titles tho so)
i'll have to check out the rest, especially good Wizards Songs 👀
in response!! further things to check out:
FUNKY.FM - playlist by alexmoukala who is one of my FAVOURITE video game composers. i know him primarily through twitter where he posts snippets of remixed or reimagined video game music... but FUNKY (this one is particularly relevant to u based of ur playlist shared w me)
ye old spooky club 1995 - playlist by unnerving governess who i am 90% sure is gothic charmschool. i know i got the link thru her but i thiiink she also made it (another playlist that may vibe w u based off your playlist)
creature feature, especially the album "the greatest show unearthed" (ookey spooky rock with a lot of vincent price era horror camp and a lot of really impressive technical skill. i want it to be halloween damnit)
the mind electric by the miracle musical (behold, the essence of the inside of my brain but in tangible form. it is. incredibly ominous. do recommend headphones for max goosebumps (includes a lot of records played backwards type sounds and other distortions))
dance monkey by tones and i (one of my big essek songs since i get a lot of that vibe where he's beholden to his station for *so much* that its a disservice to his growth as a person)
bottom is a rock by mother mother (my m9 as a whole song. the chorus has a line for each of them i stg and if i could reliably draw i would do an old school lyricstuck to it)
my verdict on ur playlist btw is that it is very solid and cohesive a+, but *just* to the left of my tastes, largely because a lot of it skews 70s/80s which just by nature of the beast lacks the bass i like (because it was mixed entirely different compared to modern music, which is better suited for sounding big when played digitally through smaller speakers. ive heard some of these bands on big sound systems and theyre MUCH more in line with my tastes then lmao)
#mochi rambles#mochi music#dragonknuckles#public reply since no links and also these recs are great imma make people look at em lmao#i have definitely pilfered a couple songs tho

Vacation Update:
I wanted to talk about where I went on vacation (now that I am safely home and am not doxxing myself by doing so)
I went to the Silver Scream Convention created by the band Ice Nine Kills. It was truly magical. I did not have the privilege of going to the first year's convention last year however I have a lot of thoughts on this year's convention from an analysis point of view I guess?
Let me start by talking about a panel that will put everything I am about to say about the convention in context. The Spooktacular panel. There is a documentary style movie coming out (I believe the Los Angeles premiere is happening with all the cast on the 28th of September and then there is a Texas premiere with some of the cast at some point but I don't know when or where in Texas. They are also hoping for a theatrical release but I don't know when or if that will actually happen as it is only in talks.)
Spooktacular is a documentary film for the first ever haunted house to ever grace the country. It's title was Spooky World and was first unveiled in 1991. (Random tidbit: I got a free signed movie poster by the ex-owner/mastermind behind Spooky World plus the director and some guy who had a big hand in the filming process.) Prior to this Halloween themepark (think Disney World but for horror is a common comparison) there were only haunted hayrides. There were also celebrities of Horror/Halloween (including Elvira or Alice Copper, the latter who called spooky world to be there) who made appearances. To wrap this background up let's just say the owner had a 130,000$ loan (I swear he said 150,000$ at the panel but a source online who interviewed him claims 110,000 plus $20,000 in interest so its ballpark somewhere in there.) he had to pay back in like 5 years. And he paid it back in either (I can't remember which) a week and a half or two and a half weeks. Both of which is insanely impressive. (If you want to learn more about the former spooky world search up spooky world Berlin MA on youtube, the owner sold the attraction in 2005 and now it is in New Hampshire.)
Now. With all that being said, I think the Silver Scream Con is going to be the new Spooky World.
The Con just did their second year and it was confirmed by Ryan J. Downey, the host of all panels and Q&As, that the attendance number doubled last year's count. The first panel of the Con (Assault and Batteries with Alex Vincent and Christine Elise) had to add three rows of chairs more before the panel began because there were more guests than they anticipated. The line to see Dead Meat and get a picture/autograph was so long that it spanned the small vendor room from front to back at times. For the other booths in the vendor room it was a lot easier to wait in line so Dead Meat would be an outlier. I also heard from another guest that for the signings in the additional area (labelled Living Room in the schematic) that you'd wait about two hours to meet either Ulrich, Charnas (and company depending on the day), Todd, and Jericho. Personally, I only passed through the room but it was definitely very crowded and busy. (I also heard from another guest that the panel room for Dead Meat's panel was so crowded and hot that they ended up leaving because it caused them to struggle with breathing. This is not a sleight or even a universal experience it is a comment I mention to illustrate how massive this con is. I don't want anyone to think this Con was a Tanacon blunder or something. It wasn't they had plenty of space to do what they needed to do but it was clear that they might soon out grow the venue if their growth continues on the same trajectory.)
Pictured below is the schematic Silver Scream Con posted to their instagram so you can get a rough idea of the space (although I would not say it is necessarily true to size at all, it is a good idea of how things were set up)
Not only that, it taps into a previously untapped market just like Spooky World. The world of horror and alternative music (metal, punk, etc) has always been intrinsically intertwined. Most alternative people love horror whether its for the way the genre speaks to the fears of the time or the way the genre is constantly evolving. Previously, if you wanted to gather as an alternative music lover you'd go to a festival or a concert or any number of underground shows. Meanwhile if you are a horror lover you have, in recent history, always had conventions to go to. Spencer Charnas/ Ice Nine Kills artfully bring both worlds together in a clash that really tears the line between fantasy and reality (in regards to their two recent albums: Silver Scream and then Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood where Charnas is the lead protagonist of the album concepts as a killer out for blood and does it through the killers we all know and love.) As far as I know this has never been done before, and if it has, it is nothing in comparison to what Ice Nine Kills and team is doing now. Right now they are making history in a big way.
For a moment I would like to pivot to their concert. At Silver Scream Con they always have a concert where they bring special guests to perform with them plus a couple of opener bands. (This year, I can't speak for last year, Dead Meat James played the Sax during IT is The End and Leah Voysey (actress, from Terrifer, Clown Cafe Host) performed during Grave Mistake. The lines for the concert spanned blocks even when it was divvied up in threes (General Admit being the longest multiple blocks, then you had Psychos Only Access [special subscription for Ice Nine Kills] and their RIP vip line.) The line for general admit was so long I showed up 45 minutes early and missed the first opening act in its entirety while I waited to be let into the City Hall Lynn Auditorium building. (Which actually was disappointing because it was Funeral Portrait.) The line was so massive a guy coming through in a taxi rolled down his window and asked the line who we were seeing because he was so impressed by the line and immediately decided to look them up.
Anyway,
All this to say, I can't wait to see how Ice Nine Kills and staff deal with how explosive they are becoming and I will not be surprised if looking into a new venue for the Convention is in their future.
Cheers for now!
Muerte Por Favor.

spooky reading round-up
🌟 you’re not supposed to die tonight by kalynn bayron – exceedingly fun and readable YA slasher. i was a little let down by the ending but it was still a good time and i recommend it!
“parthenogenesis” by stephen graham jones – i don’t think i understood this, but i would very much like to revisit it as it was an interesting one
borrasca by c.k. walker – this one’s a r/nosleep story. i guess i thought it was good at evoking a small town nostalgic feel but i did not like it, it did not scare me, and the extra final part was so bad it was borderline unreadable.
“everybody is in the place” by emma j. gibbon – DEFINITELY did not understand this one but i did quite like the vibes
“in the faded light” by narrenstrich – a comic from the shortbox comics fair, there’s only a few more hours left on that if you want to get this one. interesting little queer horror, i liked this one!
🌟 the left/right game by jack anderson – another r/nosleep story. this one had me HOOKED. i was creeped out, i was emotional, i was tense, i did not know where it was going, this one was so much better than borrasca.
🌟 we have always lived in the castle by shirley jackson – interestingly, for something recommended so often as a halloween read, i think this one would be a better summer read. classic gothic tale, FUCK uncle charles, fuck the villagers, i hope merricat and constance live a nice life (this was probably the wrong takeaway but...)
old wounds by logan-ashley kisner – trans YA horror about a beast in the woods that only eats girls. loved having two trans protagonists and love the whole being stuck out in the woods where a cult is trying to feed you to a fucking beast thing but once again i did not completely love the ending with the beast here. one of the protagonists was also quite unlikeable and a bit of a dick which some reviewers noted was quite off-putting, but being a teenager – especially a trans teenager forced to pretend you’re not – sucks and so i give him a pass
🌟 the spirit bares its teeth by andrew joseph white – another trans YA horror, this time with added autism and a period victorian setting. i did not like this one as much as i wanted to and it did not change my life or anything (it also used ‘hung’ instead of hanged and kept repeating ‘write me’ which is. an american thing and which really kept pulling me out of the story) but it was very readable, a good story, i was rooting for the main characters, and it’s nice seeing the possibility of trans love and joy even in a period setting that wants the exact opposite of that.
🌟 “the v*mpire” by p.h. lee – like “parthenogenesis” and “everybody is in the place”, you can go read this one on the reactor website and Frankly I Think You Should Because You’re Reading This On Tumblr. a story about domestic abuse intertwined with mid-2010s social justice culture on tumblr, my jaw just kept dropping.
🌟 never whistle at night edited by shane hawk and theodore c. van alst jr. – an indigenous dark fiction anthology. i started to feel like i was slogging through this one at the midpoint, but i can’t really say why at all – is it the length of the collection? is it because the stories were all of similar length? is it just hard to read a short story collection in a month? but i would not say to let that put you off this. lots of really great stories, very thought-provoking and because there’s a lot of stories in this collection there are a lot of ideas in these pages to chew on (i read this for book club and so there was a lot for us to talk about). i also enjoy the way that different writers change and locate the sites of the same horror. standouts for me were kushtuka, wingless, snakes are born in the dark, behind colin’s eyes, scariest. story. ever, the prepper, sundays, capgras, the scientist’s horror story, and collections. i find capgras, sundays, and collections have particularly stuck with me the most since finishing the collection.
🌟 pet sematary by stephen king – well, this book was fairly problematic in many of the usual and predictable stephen king ways and i went in knowing and expecting that (also surprisingly silly at times – he kept referencing blitzkrieg bop 😭) but good god this man can tell a story. this one was so difficult to keep picking back up because it was so bleak. the horror in this one isn’t so much the scary monsters or even the dead coming back from the pet sematary but the pervasiveness of death and the inevitability of it. you can’t bring your loved ones back no matter how much you want to. this one is really a book about death and grief. not sure i recommend it since it’s got Problems, but it gets a star because of how much this one really sat with me this month
i have not finished either of the british library collections i got from the library but i am also reading holy ghosts, a collection of ecclesiastical horror which hasn’t really scared me at all yet, and dangerous dimensions, a collection of weird fiction about maths and science going wrong, which has actually creeped me out a bit so far

September 10: Scream VI Pt. 1
[This is from 2 days go because my power went out Sunday night.]
Writing this in the dark because my power is out. My power almost never goes out here, which tells me how bad this storm is. It should be done by tomorrow morning, though, which I guess is good.
I was watching Scream VI and I only have about 10 minutes left, but that’s not going to be possible without power or wifi, so I’ll have to finish tomorrow. A few thoughts on what I did see (very few since my computer battery sucks and I don’t know how long I have to write here):
It’s definitely better than Scream V. Too long—I really don’t think any slasher needs to clock more than an hour 45 minutes—but consistently entertaining with very good set pieces and a strong set of new characters. This is probably the only scream movies I’ve seen that legitimately scared me in parts. And it actually managed to get real humor in there, which, as I’ve mentioned, I think many of the installments struggle with. I think moving to NYC was a smart move, not dissimilar to moving Halloween H20 to California: the core franchise elements stand out more when you see them still working in a different environment.
My favorite scenes were the attack in the apartment—even though I was said to think I was seeing Quinn go, because I liked her a lot, and the death of Mindy’s girlfriend was pretty upsetting, more sad than scary at the end—and the scenes on the subway. The apartment attack was well put together, had a great mix of comedy—and comedy from something other than meta, but from the juxtaposition of the group camaraderie and the scariness of Ghostface—and horror, and was, as I said, actually truly scary to me. I’m afraid of heights so watching them have to cross a ladder to safety over a tall drop was very, very nail-biting stuff. Similarly, the subway scene made such good use of the new setting. Being stuck in a subway car with absolutely no way out between stops is very unnerving, and the number of people can be blessing or curse very easily. All the different horror franchise homages in the background costumes was Scream at its best: meta and spooky at once.
This film rectified one of my biggest issues with Scream V, which is that it should have just been a reboot and its original characters really just dragged the story down. It tried to be too many things at once, and it didn’t trust its new cast enough to let them shine. But the thing is that they are a good cast! They are good characters! I am invested in the “Core Four” and their new little friends filled in the suspect/victim seats well. This film didn’t need Sydney, and Gayle’s role was fine and a good size. I’m still mad that they killed Dewey, but at least without him, Gayle is freed up to be more nefarious. Still, she didn’t do that much in this, ultimately. It was a glorified cameo but she got some good lines and good moments, and I’m fine with that. Same with Kirby: I really liked that they brought her back, connecting the original trilogy with the Scream IV bridge, and the new trilogy. Small scenes like her and Mindy talking about scary movies made the film… warm, something I could feel affection towards. And I think for the most part, the movie understood that. Not actually killing off either of the twins, for example (I looked up spoilers), or Gayle, not actually having Kirby be the killer: these were feel-good choices, about crafting a franchise you want to come back to because you want to be with the characters again, not because you want to see the next big twist. It makes me feel hopeful for Scream VII.
The twins really came into their own in this movie. I liked the Chad/Tara romance and Mindy I thought hit a better, more consistent footing than in the previous film, where I wanted to like her more than I did.
I’m glad I took a break before watching this but I’m also glad I saw it. It left a much better taste than Scream V. I would say my rankings are Scream (1996), Scream IV, Scream VI, Screams 2 and 3 (I feel like they’re roughly equal) and Scream V.
Okay, my computer is at 55% which means it will fade FAST. Gotta save everything and power down. I’ve never lost power for this long before so I’m a tad worried but I guess it won’t matter if I’m asleep—which I should be anyway.

[theme park review] halloween horror nights 30 (2021)
this year’s halloween horror nights will be my third! it’s turned into a pretty awesome tradition for me and one of my partners. we went to halloween horror nights 29 in 2019 on our first date. 2020’s was, of course, canceled due to the early stages of the covid-19 pandemic when the powers that be were pretending to actually try to prevent its spread. but when halloween horror nights returned to universal the following year, so did we!
our second year we were joined by her husband and my fiancx. my fiancx wasn’t feeling up for many of the haunted houses, and is a bit of a rollercoaster fiend (whereas i’m a huge rollercoaster wuss), so ve rode hollywood rip ride rockit whilst we were having our spooky times. ve ended up joining us for one of the haunted houses later, and for our apparently obligatory non-horror nights activity that year, men in black: alien attack.
really the biggest thing alien attack is missing is a truly pandering gift shop? like, you do absolutely exit through the gift shop, don’t get me wrong. but i wasn’t the slightest bit tempted to buy anything on offer there, and theme park gift shops are definitely a weakness of mine.
i fucking love the queue. it’s probably my favorite part of the ride? you just walk through mib headquarters, and it fucking rules. the ride itself is based on the shooting gallery j faces in his extended job interview in the movie. this makes perfect sense because that’s probably the most theme parky thing in the movie other than the ltd post-little red button depending on what kind of ride they wanted to go for, and i love dark rides so i’m glad this is what they went with. plus the story of the ride is that you’re an mib trainee and i love dorky shit like that.
shortly after the beginning of the ride an alien prison ship crashes in new york! and you get sent immediately into battle with your weapons switched from training mode to full-power mode! the animatronics in this portion of the ride are just fantastic. i had a blast (pun fully intended, though i think i had the lowest score in our ride vehicle). anyway, moving on to our regularly-scheduled spookiness.
since halloween horror nights was celebrating the big 3-0, they largely used the scarezones to pay tribute to past years’ horror nights. i didn’t have context for any of these, obviously, but i thought the overall concept was pretty rad!
there were only two scarezones that i really spent any time in that year or that left a lasting impression. one was seek and destroy, which was located right outside of the tribute store and was this really cool dystopian robot alien invasion thing where there are just these robotic voices demanding that you submit and like yeah wow i wonder if i liked that or not. the other one i remember pretty clearly was gorewood forest, where tree people capture and sacrifice humans. the costumes and sets here were just totally lit, and the queen of the tree people was just super dommy so yeah obviously i was so totally into that?
the haunting of hill house was a pretty easy skip because none of us have seen the netflix show it was based on and it was going to have long lines all night. also an easy skip was hhn icons: captured because it was based on the like literally 30 years worth of halloween horror night lore and again this was our second halloween horror nights so obviously i probably wasn’t gonna get much out of that. i think we also skipped revenge of the tooth fairy because it just didn’t sound that interesting to me. i think we also missed case files unearthed: legendary truth, which in retrospect i’m actually a bit sad about! but i’ve also gotten way more into detective/mystery type stuff in the year since, so it makes sense that i wasn’t nearly as interested in that one at the time.
puppet theatre: captive audience was one of the original concept haunted houses i was super looking forward to, but honestly it was kinda because i was expecting a whole lot more bondage imagery considering the title and the concept being people being turned into puppets? i mean, don’t get me wrong, it was still a pretty great haunted house–all the original concept ones usually are–i’m just whining.
we also checked out welcome to scarey: horror in the heartland, which felt kinda obligatory given that both me and my partner grew up in the midwest. in this one a small town in ohio is just absolutely overrun with all kinds of monsters. there’s a bunch of really cool settings like a house, a school, a local news station, and a butcher’s shop. they did a fantastic job of combining quaint small town settings with a bunch of different kinds of horror.
but pretty easily my favorite of the original concept haunted houses that second year was the wicked growth: realm of the pumpkin. i just really, really like pumpkins and i wish pumpkin monsters were more of a common thing around halloween because that would just kinda make sense right? and anyway as soon as i saw the entrance that was just fucking covered in pumpkins including like a literal arch of pumpkins, i knew i was probably gonna like this one. it did a really great job taking more traditionally “spooky” halloween imagery and making it genuinely scary. just fantastic stuff.
the licensed houses seriously kicked ass that year, though. i mean, okay, texas chain saw massacre is for sure not one of my favorite horror movies and i mostly did it because i was hoping there’d be a ton of bondage imagery since there is in the movies (look i have a bit of a one-track mind, i’m not sorry), but even though it didn’t really have any of that i could still at least appreciate what a good job they did recreating the creepy atmosphere of the movies even if it wasn’t super my cup of tea.
the other two, though… i wasn’t actually super excited for the beetlejuice house? like, i love the movie, it’s definitely one of my favorite tim burton movies, but i just didn’t know how well it would translate into a haunted house? but just… wow, guys, they knocked this one out of the park. like, i wouldn’t say it was scary, exactly, but i was just so damn impressed by how well they brought the movie to life that it kind of didn’t matter? it ended up leaving such an impression on me that i literally ended up suggesting we watch the movie when we got back in for the evening, and we ended up doing just that.
but by far my favorite haunted house from either of the two haunted horror nights i’ve been to so far was universal monsters: the bride of frankenstein lives. i liked it so much i bought a dorky souvenir t-shirt of it to show my loyalty. it was by far the least scary of any of the haunted houses we went to either year, but that just simply didn’t matter.
first of all, this haunted house was actually a direct sequel to the movie bride of frankenstein??? and just… i kind of super want someone to make that movie now???
the story is that after the destruction of the castle the anguished bride realized she actually loved frankenstein’s monster after all. i rather prefer my headcanon that she went off and found countess zaleska from dracula’s daughter and they lived gayly ever after, but in this version we see her recreating dr. frankenstein’s work while wearing his goggles and lab coat and uh yeah, that’ll also work! and she ends up having to capture the brides of dracula as part of her plan to save her monster, and it’s strongly implied that she’s giving them human victims so she can harvest their blood after they feed (at one point someone trapped inside a box yells for help), and just this is metal as fuck, y’all.
and it ends in triumph for the bride and her monster, as she dramatically throws the switch while fighting off dracula’s brides. and it’s just. so. fucking. good.
seriously, make this into a movie right now. and have it be exactly as throwback and amazing as this haunted house was. i was totally blown away. and yeah it was 0% scary, but it was still easily the best haunted house i’ve seen so far. i genuinely hope something tops it in the future, but right now it’s kind of hard to imagine!

Exploring A Haunted House With Your Favorite Metallica Member(s)
James Hetfield
Is against the idea at first, but relents and joins you
Has a duffel bag full of shit. We're talking flashlights, matches, snacks, probably has a pair of brass knuckles because he'd totally fight a ghost for you
Yells "I swear to fucking fuck if anyone fucks with me I will fuck you up!" He likes to be a big tough guy
Is low key scared but refuses to admit it
Will enter every room first just to make sure that its safe for you
Knocks down any spiderwebs from doorways for you. He's such a gentleman
Throws a flash light at any moving shadow. Takes. No. Chances. PISS OFF GHOST!
He's a screamer. Don't laugh at him. He startles easily but will play it off by laughing to cover up that he got spooked.
DON'T TOUCH THE DUSTY BOOKS! He won't let you touch anything. Horror movie logic. Bad spirits live in the books. No touchy.
Once he's comfortable he'd want to explore more abandoned houses
Kirk Hammett
Will straight up ask you to marry him because he loves spooky shit. You're forever his favorite human
Packs sleeping bags, snacks flashlights, candles, you name it. The man is ready for this.
He'd do research on the place and basically be your tour guide. He's obsessed with horror. Bless his little horror nerd heart
Would crack jokes like "if you're an evil spirit trying to kill me clap your hands".
Throws a candle stick at the first shadow figure he sees and then runs. Forgets you're standing there and runs back to grab you then makes another break for it.
Wants to explore a haunted house for every Halloween with you
Isn't scared at all. Boasts about how brave he is. Gets the shit scared out of him anyway
Would find some type of creepy souvenir to take home with him. "PUT THAT THING DOWN!" "......but it would go great in my horror collection....."
Buys ghost hunting equipment. He's now a self proclaimed professional at this.
When you get scared, he'll hold you close against his chest. He smells heavenly.
Cliff Burton
Looks at you like you're crazy but decides to go anyway because he loves you
He's completely against the idea but doesn't want you going alone. He's a protective boyfriend.
Refuses to let you enter the building or any room first. He's ready to kick anyone's ass if they want to be stupid
Forgets to pack extra batteries. Relieved that you planned ahead.
Packs extra cigarettes. "Of course you brought those and not batteries!" ..."in my defense, I'm not a ghost hunter...."
Finds exploring this haunted house to be pretty cool. Finds an empty room to tell spooky stories in. He's such a dork.
Acts tough as nails. Is low key scared af but too prideful to admit it. Winds up throwing his flashlight at something moving.
"I swear to God if anything or anyone jumps out, I will knock your fucking head off." He's such a tough guy. Look at him puffing out his chest and showing off for you.
Will not let go of your hand for nothing. Is he scared or just being protective? Plays it off as being protective. He doesn't want you running off and getting hurt
Bumps his head on the low doorframes. Bless his heart for being so tall. Freaks out because of the spiderwebs. Instant kung-fu master.
Lars Ulrich
Is absolutely against it. Not no. But HELL NO!
Relents at your pouting and refuses to let you go exploring with Kirk. "If he can do it then fine I'll do it too." Such a chaotic little Gremlin.
Over packs too much shit. Water and snacks for days. "Lars.....this is alcohol....." ....."if we're playing with ghosts, we mine as well have a good time."
Is instantly intimidated by how huge this house is. Would probably get lost in the labyrinth of halls.
Definitely throws his bag of supplies at a shadow figure and bolts the other way. Its his own shadow. "Look, I can explain. It was like, 7 feet tall okay?"
Is very unwilling to split up. Let's you go exploring by yourself. Is high key freaked out by every single little noise. Has watched too many horror movies with Kirk.
Gets too confident in himself. Scribbles a tiny "Lars was here" on a wall. Instantly regrets it when something growls at him.
Even freaked out he's very observant of you. Will pull you close to him if you get scared or something looks dangerous. He's a professional at this. He's had one too many horror flick marathons with Kirk
Would definitely punch out somebody if they tried scaring you. Would feel bad if it was kid. "I'm sorry but you deserve it you little shit!"
Brings a small vile of holy water. You can never be too safe. Threatens to use it on everything that moves.
Jason Newsted
Is really on the fence about it at first but starts to dig the idea because he gets to be a big tough guy.
Packs everything you'll need. Flashlights, candles, matches, snacks, water bottles, batteries. He's coming prepared. He was born for this.
He'll walk in front of you while holdiyour hand to make sure everything is safe. Knocks down the spiderwebs for you.
Probably finds some amateur ghost equipment to bring just to be a show off. Gets freaked out when he hears a spirit talk. Tries to play it off.
Touching walls and bookcases. "There's gotta be secret passages somewhere." Looks like a total dork rubbing the walls for the secret door that may or may not exist.
Gets distracted by some of the paintings hanging on the walls. "Absolutely not." ...."but it's such a rarity...." pouts a little but he'll get over it. Gets creeped out when the eyes start following you.
Holds you close if you get scared. His heart is racing too but he stays calm for you. He has a vile of holy water and a vile of salt for those pesky demons. If it works in Hollywood, it'll work here too
Probably gets lost finding that mythical hidden door. Instant regret when he can't find you. "This isn't how trap doors are supposed to work...."
Would stare suspiciously at a shadow and shine a light at it. Looks at you then back to the shadow "has that always been there?" ...."sweetie, that's YOUR shadow." Then it moves and he chucks a book or candle stick at it.
Finds a hole in the roof of the attic and finds it to be the perfect spot to watch the stars and full moon. Not everything has to be spooky.
Robert Trujillo
"You're joking right?" He's very skeptical about it. Between his Hispanic and native heritage, there's too many things that could go wrong. "We don't say the W name" ..."Wendigo?" ..."I SAID DON'T SAY IT!!!!"
You're confident that nothing can go wrong. Since your heart is set on it, he pushes his superstitions aside and joins you. Don't be surprised if he has blessed white sage, holy water, salt, probably a crucifix too.
He's on high alert. Can't tell if he's in a predatory or Prey state. Every noise is a threat. Tries to keep a brave face even though he's ready to throw you over his shoulder and bolt.
Low key digs the gargoyles decorating each peak of the dilapidated roof. Tries to keep himself from touching one by the stairs. Touches it anyway.
Has a bag full of supplies. Packs extra of everything. "Robbie....we're only going for a few hours. This bag could last a week...." hes he's over achiever. Better safe than sorry
Gets a little too into the spooky vibes. Starts to tell you spooky ghost stories from his Native heritage. Accidentally freaks himself out. Plays it off as part of the story. "I could be a Grade A actor."
Doesn't trust any of the animals harboring in the house. "THAT IS NOT A RAT! NO DON'T TRY TO TOUCH IT!"
When shot gets real, he'll protect you with his life. Stands in front you if a shadow figure moves. Nobody and nothing hurts his baby girl.
Holds your hand like a lifeline. You aren't going anywhere. You're sticking by his side no matter what.
He would want to do it again even he got the shit scared out of him

Spooky month was here, and there was no way you could’ve forgotten about it. Why? Because of Niki. He had been hyping up Halloween for weeks now.
As soon as September began, he begged to watch horror movies and even started waking you up to the song “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. At one point, he actually claimed to be the ‘next Michael Jackson’. By now- you were absolutely sick of the song. You constantly had to remind him that it was too early to start celebrating toward the start of the month, but at last it was finally just a week until Halloween, and nothing could stop Niki now.
Niki had plans. Plans, and plans, and more plans. He wanted to watch horror movies, make Halloween cookies, costume shop, carve pumpkins, buy candy, pull pranks, go to a haunted house, scare random peoples' kids, try a maze or a horror themed escape room, and so, so much more. You lost count of it all.
However, today Niki had decided it was haunted house night- and he was not going to change his mind. He had already signed the both of you up for it when he saw it advertised while strolling the town recently.
Considering you dealt with Niki every day, you weren’t that much of a scaredy cat. In fact, you were sure this would be a cheaply put together event, not scary at all. Just some people dressed poorly in store bought costumes that were painfully fake looking, and some plastic props from amazon. You thought it was a waste of time and money, but you couldn’t bare reject Niki when he had been so excited for Halloween week.
“Niki it’s so cold.” you complained as you got closer to the entrance of the haunted house. It was a lot warmer outside when you had originally left your house, but Niki had gotten distracted by all the Halloween stalls around the town on the way, so now it was later than you had planned.
“The adrenaline will warm you up soon.” he replied with a smile, an evil, smile.
You pushed him slightly on the shoulder.
“Stop with that stupid smirk of yours, would you? It’s annoying me. Let’s just get this over with.”
“You sound scared” Niki teased.
“I’m not scared at all. As if I could be scared of something like that!”
You pointed to the dog walking around near the entrance in a little Halloween costume its owner had forced it into. It plodded around sweetly, dressed as a tiny walking, barking- pumpkin.
“Poor dog.” you mumbled. It was a bit cute though, you had to admit.
“Don’t be so pessimistic. C’mon let’s go.” Niki rushed in front of you toward the area.
You both signed in and began the spooky event right away. For the first five minutes, there was barely anything even relatively scary. You knew it would be like this. Just some people dressed up, yelling and trying to jump at you. It was so predictable. The only people screaming were literal children.
Niki watched you and noticed you weren’t having that much fun. He couldn’t settle with that. He also couldn’t bear the thought of admitting you were right about how tacky this was. Good thing he had something planned this whole time. This would definitely satisfy him.
You and Niki entered a very dark room with a low hue of green light. You could barely see each other. The silence started to dawn on you. It began to make you nervous.
To make matters worse, Niki suddenly disappeared around the corner, out of your sight entirely.
“Niki come on don’t be like that, wait for me.”
He seemed to be nowhere near you. You called out his name a few times, but you never got a response.
“Niki stop playing it’s not funny.”
You actually began to get quite anxious; it was too quiet for a haunted house, and you just wanted Niki to come back. Why did he have to run off so much. It was like babysitting a kid gone rouge, you wouldn’t think he was his actual ag-
“RAGHHHHH”
You fell to the floor covering your ears and screaming, your heart rate going at a concerning pace. You had to catch your breath, only to realize it was just Niki standing there almost pissing himself laughing. He couldn’t even stand straight, holding his stomach from hard laughter.
“You act so tough but look at you right now!” he continued.
“You little shit…” you began to chase him.
The haunted house staff- who were supposed to be the ones scaring you, just watched in confusion.
Niki was still laughing the entire time as he ran. He came to a sudden halt and almost jumped out of his skin when someone jolted at him out of nowhere. You began to laugh; it was like instant karma.
After you guys had exited the place, you were both almost entirely out of breath. You would have thought you had just run a marathon.
“That was so much fun” you admitted.
Niki smiled widely, it was a pure success for him, and now you were having just as much fun, he was so happy in this moment. He was happy that you were happy too. Your smile was contagious to him.
“Wanna go again?” He joked.
“With you? Absolutely not” you laughed.

“Are you ready?” you looked at Sunoo.
He seemed a bit hesitant. He was fiddling with his fingers.
You quickly suggested an alternative,
“We can just carve some pumpkins instead if you would prefer that. I have some cool designs in mind.”
You knew Sunoo was one who liked the softer parts of Halloween. Pumpkin carving, Halloween cartoons/kid movies, dressing up, trick or treating. That was just who he was. Halloween definitely wasn’t Sunoos favorite holiday nor was it within his top 3.
If Sunoo was a widely celebrated holiday, he would be valentine’s day. He was sweet inside out. He was always giving more than he ever received. Sunoo was a big softie. Even his attempts at scaring people were too cute to be afraid of.
But another thing about Kim Sunoo was that he was daring. Sassy, daring, and definitely not to be messed with unless you wanted your whole life roasted within a few sentences produced from his impressive on-the-go comebacks filled brain.
“No, I want to try this” Sunoo said sternly.
“Are you sure?”
He gave a little nod, and so you both went ahead.
“How did they even make this place?” he scanned the area around you guys as you walked closely side by side.
Not only was the vibe eerie, but the place also didn’t smell that great either. It was humid inside; it made your hands feel clammy and sticky. You were breathing in very warm air, it felt like you were suffocating on it. You could also hear distant screams from other people in the DIY house, or was that just a sound track they were playing to add to the impact?
At first, it seemed empty. calm almost.
The lighting was very dim from the attempt to black out all the outside light. The hallway was almost clear of things except false webs and decorative spiders. The walls weren’t actually walls, however. The walls were made from tall office space dividers or “mobile office screens” (that kept privacy between each office space) and blankets, garbage bags and other various materials used as a roof cover.
“Why do they even have this many dividers?” you stated, surprised.
This wasn’t a bougie haunted house. In fact, technically it wasn’t a house at all. It was just a small event the community had put together to raise money for charity. They used common objects around them to create the house. It truly was respectable. They had done quite a good job on their limited budget.
“It’s not that bad actually,” Sunoo admitted a little too soon, “I thought it would be a lot scarier than this.”
Almost immediately after that, a tall, bulky figure dressed in bloody rags, sprung themselves at you and Sunoo. It was so unexpected, you even found yourself jumping quite hard at the scare and letting out a small yell of stun.
The grip Sunoo had on you was borderline painful. There was barely any room for oxygen to pass through your arm. His nails were dug into your skin. The fear that paralyzed his body made sure your arm suffered just as much as he was.
Speaking of painful, the screech that left Sunoo's mouth was so abdominally loud and sharp you were sure your ear drum had just exploded. Even the jump scarer flinched at the noise, instantly regretting their life choices. The scream that Sunoo produced was the sound of true, bloody murder.
You giggled through the pain, letting Sunoo cling onto you as you kept walking. The sounds of chainsaws roared nearby, and things were getting really tense all of a sudden.
“I guess the further we go in, the better it gets” you commented, expecting a response. However, there was none.
You looked at the poor boy holding your arm like it was his only life support.
“Are you okay?”
Sunoo wouldn’t open his eyes, squinting hard as he tried to seal them shut. He shook his head. “Let’s get out of here A.S.A.P”
He opened his eyes to look at you for a reaction, but as soon as he did another monster-like person ran at you both, making Sunoo scream again. But it was different. This time, Sunoo had let his shock get the best of him.
“BITCH” he yelled. Then he caught his breath and rolled his eyes. That was a classic Sunoo moment. The sassiest man around.
The monster like man broke character and laughed, genuinely not expecting such a reaction.
The rest of the way basically consisted of the same thing. Sunoo screaming and clinging onto you for dear life, barely opening his eyes.
The outside light shone through the exit of the maze-like house, and Sunoo ran toward it like it was heaven. You couldn’t blame him though, the way his soul completely left his body each time you were jumped at, it might as well have been heaven they were headed to.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” you dared ask.
“Can we just stick to pumpkins next time?” he replied absolutely terrified.
You let out a small laugh, you had really enjoyed yourself and you were very, very glad Sunoo had not passed out from fear back there.
“Sure thing.”

“So, is it like an escape room?” Sunghoon asked.
“It depends on what you mean. Technically, no it’s not, but it can be” you answered cheekily.
“What do you mean by that?”
“You don’t need to solve things to escape, you just need to survive.”
Sunghoon's eyes widened at your statement. You said it so casually, but it was a very concerning sentence. Sometimes he wondered if you were mentally okay.
“Survive?”
“Yeah, survive to escape.”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
“I really hope it’s not like that horror escape room you made me do last time. I think I almost died.”
“First of all, I did not make you do anything. Don’t be dramatic.”
“It’s not an exaggeration. I saw my life flash before my very own eyes.”
“But you also didn’t die. That’s what’s important.”
“The point is- wait. Are you wanting me to die of a heart attack?”
You shrugged jokingly.
“What would you even do without my pretty face around?”
“Yeah, okay pretty boy, no more questions let’s just hurry up and get there before I die waiting.”
“Beauty takes time.”
You rolled your eyes in response to his pettiness.
“You wouldn’t know” he added on quietly.
Your jaw dropped and you actually looked slightly hurt by that. Sunghoon immediately felt guilty and pulled you into a hug.
“I’m just messing with you. But seriously, if I die tonight, you’re responsible.”
After Sunghoon had finished up getting ready, you took a taxi to the entertainment strip not too far away from where you lived. It was the best place to go for fun events, especially as they had new things to do with each passing season.
“There it is” you pointed to a very tall, mysterious looking building. Many people were gathered around it waiting for their turn. Sunghoon felt himself gulp a little. As petty as he could be, and although he didn’t look like it, he was very easily scared by things. He was one to constantly be on edge.
You left the taxi, a chill finding its way down Sunghoon's spine. He wasn’t sure if it was the vibe or the temperature at this point. He instantly knew this was worse than the escape room by the very first glimpse at it. You really were trying to kill him, he thought to himself.
Both of you waited in line for about twenty minutes and during that time Sunghoon's nerves were working themselves up. You noticed and patted his head in reassurance.
“It’s going to be okay Hoon.” You smiled, and he smiled a little back at you. He held out his hand, implying he wanted to hold yours before you went in. You stuck to each other like glue.
You looked around the place eagerly. Sunghoon, not so much. He trotted a little behind you, still holding your hand. He was very cautious and aware. Eyes sprinting everywhere to be prepared and on the lookout.
The first couple scares were light and Sunghoon had squeezed your hand and yelled a lot, but he was also laughing. He was enjoying it really.
However, one specific scare pushed him over the line a bit. He sprinted at full speed away, screaming, completely leaving you behind. You watched absolutely baffled.
“NAHHHHHHHHHHH” his voice trailed off.
“SUNGHOON WHERE ARE YOU GOING?” you yelled after him.
He was gone-gone. You could still hear him screaming distantly. At least he was alive.
You laughed and shook it off, carrying on exploring by yourself.
The scares here were surprisingly really good. You were genuinely terrified by the next few jump scares, screaming like a little girl. You didn’t hate it though. It was a fun adrenaline rush, and you were definitely an adrenaline junkie. You loved this stuff.
Sunghoon finally appeared again, sprinting back towards you. You flinched at first, mistaking him for a haunted house member for a slight moment. The way he ran at you with his arms swinging was terrifying enough.
“IM SORRY, IM SORRY” he yelled in panic, grabbing the life out of your wrist and dragging you like a big dog on a leash, getting way ahead of its owner almost tripping them up.
“HUH? SLOW DOWN!” you yelled back, focusing on not falling flat on your face trying to keep up with his pace.
“IM SORRY I LEFT YOU BEHIND,”
He tried to catch his breath as he continued running.
“BUT I CAME BACK FOR YOU.”
You smiled and felt yourself even slightly blush at his panic.
Even though Sunghoon had ran off in fear and completely abandoned you to be scared on your own for a little while, he eventually came back through the house to collect you- despite being terrified to the core.
When you finally got out, Sunghoon started laughing, which wasn’t what you were originally expecting if you were being honest. You thought you were pretty much going to be scolded and nagged at for the next few months.
“We made it” he said through a breathless laugh, patting your head just like you had patted his earlier.
You giggled with a big smile; Sunghoon returned the smile.
“Yes, we did.”

Jay wasn’t much of a screamer.
Though Jay yelled and scolded everyone around him quite often, you never could recall him screaming- especially not in fear.
Jay had always been pretty hardcore about things; it was sometimes hard to read his emotions or fully understand how he was feeling- let alone know what he was thinking about most of the time.
Unless Jay was yelling in anger or frustration at his younger friends, he always had pretty much the same facial expression. Although when he did smile, it was very admirable, and it was often because of you.
Tonight, you weren’t quite sure what to expect. It wasn’t hard convincing Jay to come along with you to the haunted house. Perhaps Jay just didn’t find these types of things scary, or maybe he just enjoyed going to things with you. You had no idea. All you knew, was that you were more than ready for some good fun tonight. It had been a while since you got a break quite like this.
There was no time to waste, you rang Jays doorbell.
“Oh, you’re dressed... quite fancy” you commented as you scanned Jay up and down. He had just finished getting ready to go out, appearing at his door with a collared polo and smart dress pants. Not to mention the expensive looking jewelry, a tie, and sunglasses? When it’s dark outside?
You had dressed quite casually. The weather was getting too cold for your special section of your wardrobe recently, unless you layered, but that was a lot of work. You stuck to comfy black sweats and a plain oversized hoodie, styling it a bit with a cream-colored corduroy cap. Your hair was in a loose ponytail, and you had a small friendship necklace on. Jay had seen you bare faced many times so now you felt comfortable not even putting on any makeup.
“Thanks” he replied.
“What are the sunglasses for though? You do know that you could’ve dressed more casually, right?” you wanted to make sure he had not mistaken the event for a more formal type thing.
“I’m a fashionista.”
That was something Jay said often, so you kind of expected it, accepted it, and moved on. He could dress however he wanted too anyway. Who’s to stop him from feeling good about himself?
You had both made your way to the event after stopping to say hello to some familiar faces on the way. The wait time to get in was very short, so you were let in quite quickly.
You soon realized that this actually seemed a lot scarier than you had intended it to be. You held your breath and began to feel sweaty. Your stomach did flips in anticipation and anxiety.
“Jay” you began.
He hummed in response.
“I’m not so sure about this anymore” you continued.
He wrapped him arm around your shoulder and pulled you in closer to him.
“Let’s not separate then.”
You acknowledged his idea and stuck close by his side.
When the scares began, you had screamed and flinched a lot; you were enjoying yourself though.
Jay was relatively calm, not too surprising coming from him. He was more focused on the route of the place.
You had started to think that this was actually boring for Jay, when he instantaneously proved you wrong.
The next scare must have really caught Jay off guard because next thing you knew, Jays fist was flying toward the innocent staff members face.
“Oh my god Jay what did you just do???”
You weren’t really sure on what to do now. The injured guy held his jaw groaning. You looked at Jay. He had a very regretful expression, filled with guilt.
Jay apologized like a maniac. He left no room to breathe between words.
The staff member began to laugh.
“Don’t worry so much. This isn’t the first time this has happened tonight” he said.
You didn’t know how to feel about that.
“It’s a part of the job. It means I really got you good huh?” he added on.
You still felt tense and awkward at the situation, but Jay looked relieved. He was laughing too now, realizing how intense his flight or fight reaction was. He helped the staff member up from the ground.
After a small talk, you continued on just as you had been to the very end.
When you found the exit, the light started to make your eyes partially ache. It took you a minute to readjust.
“I can't believe that just happened” Jay mumbled in disbelief still.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware you were trying to get us arrested tonight” you declared.
Jay landed a hand on your shoulder.
“Hey, at least I got you covered if something comes and gets you” he laughed.
You smiled and then stared at something that had caught the corner of your eye. Jay picked up on this and turned around to see for himself.
It was a small fair ground with a lot more activities.
“Hey what’s the time?” you randomly asked.
Jay pulled out his phone which displayed ‘8pm’ on it. He tilted the screen so that you could see the answer to your question.
“Is that Harry Styles?” you giggled at his lock screen.
“What?” Jay blurted in embarrassment, pretending he had no idea what you were talking about.
“Anyway, this place doesn't close until 10pm, we still have a lot of time. Should we?” you suggested eagerly.
Jay caught on quickly.
“Let’s go then.”

Each year, you and Jake did something special for Halloween. Growing up in foreign countries, Halloween had always been a huge thing for both of you but living in Korea now changed that. Though Halloween was still celebrated- it just wasn't done the same.
It was a perfect excuse to do some fun activities that reminded you of your childhood.
Usually, you were the one coming up with the ideas, but this year Jake was the one to come running to you excitedly, suggesting going to a haunted house. You had never been to one before, and you loved trying something new, so you immediately agreed to the idea.
Jake had also never been to one and was very eager to go. He was almost jumping up and down of impatience on the way to the place. He really was just like a golden retriever, getting way ahead of you.
"Wait up Jake!" You yelled out to him.
"Oh, oops!" Jake turned around and started running back toward you and grabbed your hand. "I just don't want to miss it is all."
"Don't worry, we won't." You reassured him.
When you arrived, Jakes excitement died down a little. You wondered if he was having second thoughts upon seeing the haunted house and people running out screaming.
"Let's go" he interrupted your thoughts.
You followed in behind him. He looked around with wide eyes, taking everything in. He acted calmly, smiling like he wasn't nervous at all. In reality, Jake was just trying to hide his fear. He was really scared, but you didn't need to know that. He just seemed like he found it funny.
Jakes act broke though when he froze in his place, listening out for something with fearful eyes. He looked as if he was trying to solve something in his head. You were about to ask him what he was doing, or what he was thinking about, but he beat you to it.
"Do you hear that?" he questioned you.
"No, hear what?" you questioned his question.
"I hear someone nearby" he said with an anticipating tone.
You suddenly heard it too. The sound of footsteps and rustling material. It was hard to creep up in complete silence wearing ridiculously baggy costumes. However, the place was so dark you couldn't see anything coming your way, nor could you figure out which direction you were hearing it from. The buildup made you unbelievably anxious.
You and Jake screamed in almost perfect synchronization when you were both met with the small tap on the shoulder of someone behind you. When you had turned around you saw a woman with hair covering everything but her beady black eyes. Her pupils were like voids of nothingness and death.
Jake grabbed your hand and forced you to run with him, screaming the whole time. He had a huge smile on his face though, very contradicting to his vocal expression of fear right now. It was a fun type of scary.
He dragged you with him around the corner where he was met with someone holding a fake machete. He screamed even louder, completely taken aback.
You both ran into another room hidden in the corner of the hallway. Jake had to take a breather, or he was sure he would pass out. He sat quietly for a moment exhilarated with emotions, laughing it off.
"This is so fun."
"Right?" You added.
"I didn't expect it to be this scary, but I like it" he giggled.
"I can't believe I have never tried this before," you started, "I have really been missing out on this. I am really glad you suggested this, Jake. I'm having a lot of fun"
"Me too. Next time let's bring Sunoo and Sunghoon along, I think they would totally piss themselves!" Jake shared his thoughts.
You laughed at his statement, imagining the faces and reactions of your dear mutual friends if they were here right now with you guys.
You both finally continued through the house, screaming at the top of your lungs. You had been running around so much, taking random directions, that you lost focus on the direction you were supposed to be going.
"Jake."
"Yeah?"
"Where are we?"
'What do you mean?" Jake looked around for a minute.
"Oh" he muttered.
You weren't sure what was scarier- the people in costumes, or the fact you were completely and utterly lost in a haunted house.
"What do we do now?" Jake verbally wondered.
"Shit" you were hoping Jake had the answer to that.
The smart choice would have been asking a staff member where to go next, but you were both too nervous to even go up to the terrifying masked staff. Not only that, but there were actually none to be seen right now. You guys must have been really off path. You wanted to blame Jake, but there was no point being bitter about it right now. The important thing was that you needed to get out, fast.
"Let's just keep going this way."
You both continued to circle around for a while before Jake suddenly noticed an exit sign where you both made your escape. A sigh of relief was heard from the both of you.
"That really was scary" Jake commented with a small laugh, still trying to recover from what had just happened.
"Yeah, for real" you added.
"LET'S GO AGAIN!" Jake grabbed your wrist and ran with you to the entrance again.
"WAIT JAKE-"

"Let's go to the haunted house Heeseung!"
He looked at you with a raised eyebrow. "You? You want to go to a haunted house? You?"
"Yes me, why is that a problem?"
"Aren't you scared of like, I dont know, minions?" he teased.
You flicked his forehead. He yelped a little and frowned at you.
"So what if I am? They have no reason to be that scary looking," you argued, "and this is different anyway."
"How is this different?" he smirked.
"I know it's just people in stupid costumes, it's very fake."
That reasoning made no sense to Heeseung. Minions were very fake too. But he didn't argue any further- to save his poor forehead from anymore violence.
"Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you meant like a real one, with ghosts." Heeseung watched your smile drop.
"Not a chance" you exclaimed.
Heeseung giggled, "A fake haunted house huh? Yeah, that sounds fine, you know- since literal children go into those" he teased again.
You rolled your eyes at him, "So were going?"
He took in an audible breath and wandered his eyes around for a moment, smiling, pretending like he was deep in thought. You smacked his arm gently to make him stop.
"Yeah, we can go" he finally decided.
You cheered in glee and went to go grab your shoes. You sat yourself down on the bottom step of the staircase and leaned over to tie your shoes. You felt something placed around your shoulders. You looked up, and Heeseung was standing over you. He had put a jacket around your shoulders. It was in this moment that you realized how tall he truly was compared to you, even if you were sitting down right now.
"It's getting colder now" he said with a small smile.
You nodded and continued to tie your shoelaces. After you had finished you stood up and put your arms into the jacket and made your way out of the door, Heeseung following behind you.
On the way, you noticed the impacts of autumn starting to really take a noticeable place. The leaves were so bright with warm toned colors. Yellow, red, orange, brown. Some trees were already losing a lot of their leaves. It was windy and a little chilly, but not freezing.
Heeseung watched you admire the scenery with a smile, "How far is it?" he asked you.
"Not too much further."
And you had told the truth, it was really close by and it didn't take much time to get there at all. In fact, you had got their early, so you were first to enter. There was nobody else around yet, so you had no idea what to expect. You hesitated a little at the start. Heeseung came up behind you and pushed you in.
"Come on then miss brave girl" he mocked.
The spooky music being played was already enough to terrify you. You wanted to turn back as soon as possible. You hid behind Heeseung.
People began jumping out of the most unexpected areas. You kept screaming like you never had before. And Heeseung? Well, he just had this stupid smirk on his face. The face of 'I told you so.' You wanted to rip it off his face so badly. Why wasn't this scary to him?
You continued to hide behind tall Heeseung, barely looking where you were going, too scared to watch. You clung onto Heeseung for support.
Heeseung tried to hide his smile. Secretly, he loved when you got scared and hung onto him like that. He started to act protective. It was all too predictable for him, so he wasn't really scared. He just enjoyed being there as your support system.
He wanted to seem cool, that was until he turned the corner, and his predictions had failed him this time, making him scream like a little girl.
Heeseungs scream shocked you more than the random figure standing there in front of you both had. His scream was so high pitched and girly. You burst out laughing.
Heeseung looked at you with his eyebrows furrowed, "It's not funny. Stop laughing."
That just made you laugh more.
He shook you gently, nagging, "Seriously, stop laughing."
Of course, you didn't listen to him. This was the funniest thing to you right now and it satisfied you that the stupid smirk was gone from his face.
He continued to act chill and unbothered, "Whatever."
You took a break from laughing, still with a smile you said, "Let's just keep going little scaredy cat."
Heeseung couldn't handle a taste of his own medicine. He hated when you were able to tease him. He tried to continue on as he had been, but slightly embarrassed this time.
You linked your arm with his and looked up at him, "You're funny Hee, I enjoy doing things with you."
Heeseung blushed slightly at the action and new nickname and held back a smile, "Uh huh, let's just get this over with."
You nodded and continued on, arm in arm, with a slightly flustered Heeseung.

Jungwon loved dressing up. It was truly his specialty. He never failed to amaze you with his creativity each year when Halloween came around. This year Jungwon had decided to dress as a wizard. You had dressed as a cat. It was very basic of you, but this year you just didn't have the budget or the effort even. You had already spent so much money on buying candy to hand out. You lived in an area with a lot of children around, so you had to prepare.
Jungwon looked adorable. For such a sweet person, you would think he could be quite skittish. He looked so fragile after all. Yet, Jungwon was actually more scared of loud noises than anything else.
When you watched horror movies together, he would get invested in the plot, rather than being scared by the jump scares. You thought this was some sort of immunity he had, but actually it was quite beneficial to have someone endure all the horrors for you.
It wasn't quite Halloween yet, but the town was already celebrating with festivals and fun events. That is why Jungwon was dressed up today. There was no way he could go to a Halloween festival without a costume. If he, or anybody for that matter, were to go in normal clothing, they would stick out like a sore thumb. Where's the fun in not dressing up at the one time of the year where it was perfectly acceptable to dress as anything? - and I mean anything. There was even a family walking around dressed as giant feet.
You and Jungwon had been on a few rides, played a couple games, took a lot of photos, and had even participated in a costume competition. Unfortunately, the child dressed as a chicken won. Jungwon insisted it was a sympathy vote because he was a kid, and you found Jungwon's saltiness amusing.
You were strolling around beside him, looking at all the people. You were really enjoying yourselves. A bustling crowd caught both of yours and Jungwon's attention.
"Is that one of those haunted house things?" Jungwon asked curiously.
"Looks like it" you answered, still watching the crowd that surrounded it.
"I guess it must be good, I see its very popular."
You were also dying of curiosity, "Do you want to go check it out?"
Jungwon smiled and you knew that meant yes. Without any further words, you both made your way towards it.
You found yourselves waiting for about an hour in the crowd, but you were desperate to see what all the hype was about, so you never left the line. The only time one of you left was when Jungwon started to get ‘hangry’. You stayed in line to save your places and he came back shortly with some street food.
You had finally made it to the front of the line, screams from people before you bellow and echoing in the long hallway in front of you. You looked at Jungwon and gave a small nod to signal that you were ready to go.
It was mortifying.
Not only two minutes in and you felt like you were grabbing onto your own soul, begging it not to leave your body right now in fear. You were literally shaking and petrified. You were on the verge of tears, and it was very noticeable. Jungwon noticed.
Jungwon thought it was HILARIOUS. Not that you were scared- but the whole thing. He could not stop laughing at the people trying desperately to scare him. You did not find it so funny. The staff were just confused and also frustrated that they were comical to him.
Jungwon even began to mess with the staff. He would jump back at them, and when they would scream in attempt to scare you both, he would just scream back at them- but not because he was scared, he was just mocking them.
This little wizard was mocking them.
You started to laugh at what he was doing.
"Jungwon stop doing that, leave them alone" you urged, giggling still.
He didn't listen to you, he just kept messing around.
"Look, look at this." Jungwon circled around the guy with claws for hands, making the guy spin around trying to face him, getting dizzy. The guy roared in frustration and Jungwon roared back at him, except in a more adorable way. He put his hands up and made a claw-like gesture at the dizzy scarer. The guy just gave up trying to act tough and laughed at Jungwon along with you. This was very unexpected and random.
You laughed hard. It was so stupid.
However, while you were laughing and concentrated on Jungwon, you had been completely distracted. You had stopped being so scared. Suddenly it was hard to find it scary. You were just finding everything funny now because of Jungwon. You felt relieved. He was so good at comforting you in the least obvious ways.
He was one smart wizard, and he had more tricks to him than just a magic wand.
Note: HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Thank you so much for reading. I did not have much time to write anything too special for Halloween, so I hope this is okay. I hope you enjoyed it. I was sleepy editing it, so if there’s mistakes I apologize. The word counts may not be 100% accurate because I made some changes.
Who would you want to go to haunted house with the most in enhypen? I might be biased but I think going with Jungwon would be fun, especially after watching the escape en o'clock episode!
Q: What are you dressing as for Halloween?

Haunted Houses
All Hallow's Eve was Henry’s favourite time of the year. The spicy autumn air was thickly shrouded by magic. Spooky tales and plastic spiders inhabited drapes of thin cotton tendrils and fat pumpkins carved with scary faces would sit on his doorstep to welcome him home or bid him farewell on his way out.
Per tradition, he would rally close friends at midnight for a horror flick and pineapple-anchovy pizza; often a bottle of rum would be added to the party. However, this Halloween fell on a bittersweet period, as his friends grew too old for said spooky gatherings. Starting new families of their own, they had no time to indulge him.
All save for her, who just like him was still somehow single.
How bad would it be to spend the evening just the two of them... alone? Ignoring the fact that it was enough to see her name flicker on the screen of his phone for pure warmth to enkindle in his chest. He thought about her often before he fell asleep and when he woke up; and by often, he meant every single day since he met her.
Though she didn’t think much of him as anything other than a friend she loved to banter with - he presumed. And of course she loved Kal, possibly more than she cared for him. Yet, Henry did what he did best: bury his emotions into a little pit he dug in the graveyard of his mind.
"Heh!” Henry croaked as the door opened. His sapphires ensnared the veils of black that cloaked her, preserving the sight of silk laces tied tightly at her torso in what seemed like a gothic medieval gown.
“I see you took off your costume for the evening."
She narrowed her eyes but only to observe his attire carefully: that same green hoodie and a pair of worn jeans that complimented his… asset.
She wanted to etch her fingers around the thick fabric and have a whiff of this hoodie, or perhaps just steal it and wear it forever and a day.
"First of all, it is called The Witching Hour so I must dress properly. Secondly - where is your costume, Cavill?" she crossed her arms together, looking rather displeased.
“I’m dressed as a homicidal maniac, we look like everybody else does.”
Snorting, she tilted her head, unimpressed. “You totally just stole this joke from Wednesday Addams.”
Henry shrugged and pressed his lips to a thin line. One of his foolish expressive gestures. It made her feel less nervous to which she was thankful. When she suggested they’d hang out despite them being the only two, she didn’t think much of the consequences of being all alone with the man who inhabited her mind and never paid rent. Everything about Henry made her feverish, but it was always easy when others accompanied them. The awkward anxiety of having to entertain him wasn’t her job, not up till now…
Oh, god! What if they had nothing to talk about? What if their playful chemistry was always influenced by the presence of other people?
Beads of sweat began to form below her breasts when Henry shoved a bottle of rum into her hand and then leaned in to steal a casual kiss from her cheek. She smiled with a friendly huff in return, stifling the shiver that coursed through her muscles while he welcomed himself into her home.
Striding forward, he peered at the Halloween decorations she hung across the walls and inhaled deeply - the scent of maple and buttery chestnuts filled the cosy little house, a scent that he could easily get intoxicated with.
It was what she smelled like and here he was, drowning in its excess.
After a quick observation, he turned to look at her, holding his hands clasped behind his back. She smiled awkwardly in return and then averted her gaze, becoming fascinated by the bottle he brought.
‘There it is,’ Henry mused, ‘that embarrassing silence, there is so much to tell her, but she probably… no! She definitely finds me boring.’
This Halloween celebration would probably be the last and it was all sorts of disastrous.
Trying to overcome the silence, he cleared his throat and reached a hand to scratch his curly mane. “So what movie are we watching?”
“Movie?” she asked confused and then quickly corrected, “Oh yes, umm... The Exorcist.”
“Good, love me some green vomit.” his eyes followed carefully as she waltzed into the small open kitchen, placing the rum on the counter and then returning with a large bowl that made his nostrils flare.
“Green vomit goes extremely well with caramelised popcorn,” she suggested and popped a golden flake of popcorn into her mouth.
“Sweet-salty popcorn? I love you!” Henry groaned and snatched the bowl right away. It was only when his mouth was stuffed that he realised what words he just used.
But she didn’t seem to react, thankfully. Instead, she brushed a hand over her many skirts and pointed toward the living room.
Hugging the bowl, Henry strode behind her, entering the dimly lit living room. The traditional pizza was already laid on the wooden coffee table, along with a few bottles of Guinness.
Her couch was small, only fit for a couple. And Henry, being a hulking man, took most of the space. Their thighs immediately ground into one another’s, yet they both pretended as if they hadn't noticed the hot tingle running beneath the layers of clothing.
“I have to warn you about something,” she uttered, hoping that the tremor she suddenly felt in her body was not visible to him.
Henry crooked his eyebrow, looking at the ominous glare she offered.
“My house is totally haunted.”
Not waiting for his answer, she grabbed the remote and pressed play. Henry chuckled at her silly joke, waiting for her to break character but she only peered at the screen.
“Nice try, I am not scared of that stuff.” He shifted in his seat slightly, lifting his lengthy arm and spreading it on the headrest right behind her. Immediately, he regretted this semi-possessive masculine gesture, but it was too late to pull it away.
Her instincts screamed to snuggle into him yet she held back. “Don’t believe me, but I am not making this up,” she insisted, “Every night around 3 am, I hear scratching from within the walls and these thuds from the ceiling, and then one night… I woke up the door creaking.”
Henry glanced at her quietly for a long moment, watching the reflection from the screen gyrating over her glossy irises and then snorted. He leaned toward the coffee table and grabbed two beers, uncorking them with the help of his pinky ring and then offering her one of the bottles.
“I think you have rats.”
“Rats who make heavy thuds and open bedroom doors?”
“Yup, a big fat randy rat.” he teased. “We’ll take a look at your bedroom later, but I promise you, there are no such things as ghosts.”
‘We’ll take a look in your bedroom? Great…’ He berated himself. At this point, he just wanted to sigh and shake his head.
She peered at him oddly, her throat clenching a tad before she turned her head back to the movie with a mumble, “It’s not a ghost, it’s a demon.”
Within a few minutes they grew quiet, deciding to focus on the movie with the occasional dry jokes and bad puns from Henry as an attempt to overcome his anxiety. Outside the window, thunder rumbled in the distance and shy raindrops lightly kissed the glass, tinted with the many vague shades of lights coming from the street.
Now and then, Henry shifted in his seat, his meaty thigh further grinding into her leg which stirred her blood to the point of electric spasms. She lightly pushed against him, pretending it’s by accident when truthfully, she wanted to exploit every second of being in his proximity. Had she any guts, she would turn to kiss him, but the thought alone made her heart clench in fear.
She threw him a glance, and their eyes met. Henry offered a kind grin, avoiding staring at her lips. She smiled back coyly, her heartbeat accelerating with anticipation when the possessed girl in the movie made a horrifying groan that ruined the moment.
And then the room suddenly was swallowed in darkness, followed by a strong clap of thunder that tore open the sky.
In the scant moment of chaos, he heard a scream and then the light came back as if nothing happened, aside from the fact that she was now in his arms, with her legs straddling his waist, and her fingers clutching the collar of his hoodie.
Henry was unsure how and when his hand found itself latched to the small of her back, only that he didn’t want to let go. They exchanged bemused glances and swallowed the dryness parching their throats.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered hoarsely, “I got scared…”
Embarrassed to the point of tears, she attempted to climb off, wanting nothing more than to run to the bathroom and cry in hiding, when Henry sent a hand to stroke her temple and gently brushed his fingers behind her ear.
“Stay,” he insisted, squeezing into her lower back as if to prevent her from escaping.
Her lips parted slowly, the same golden hue that suffused the living room split into her eyes, beaming even brighter as he continued to caress her face before bringing her closer to graze her lips with his.
Halloween was, without a doubt, his favourite.

Spencer didn't understand. after all you guys see throughout the day, you want to come home and watch a horror movie. your whole lives were like one big horror movie.
but, regardless, he would walk to the ends of the earth for you (though he did not plan on telling you that), so watching a scary movie with you wouldn't be so bad. in fact, anything would be good with you. he would happily get a root canal if it meant spending more time with you.
he tried to convince himself: a scary movie is like halloween! and he loves halloween. reading about it. learning about it. but getting his adrenaline pumping via jump scare? hmmm..maybe not.
he didn't watch many horror films when he was a kid. his mom didn't do very well with them. and he liked his foreign films better. but watching the light in your eyes twinkle when you asked him to come over to watch together because you were scared to watch alone? how could he say no?
and you were beyond excited to have him over. even though you guys had already hung out outside of work before, you almost never got to pick the movies. truth be told that was because you went along with almost anything he said so you could get closer. and you planned on watching the movie at a friendly distance.
keyword: planned.
but it was now halfway through the movie and you were both cuddled up together in the corner of the couch. and from the beginning of the movie, anytime something remotely creepy happened, Spencer would lean over and whisper what a reasonable explanation could be. or tell you how statistically improbable the events of a certain scene was. and so you two drew closer and closer. and he convinced himself he was telling you the statistics and facts to make sure you dont get too scared; but really it was himself he was trying to calm down.
the movie was what it said it was; scary. but you had watched your fair share of horror movies, and though a couple of the jump scares got you, you were getting a little disinterested and distracted.
every time he leaned over (rather, now he was leaning down) and whispered something to you, you had to fight the urge to kiss him. not to mention. you were snuggled up to you're best friend who you were secretly crushing on and he was pulling you impossibly closer with every creepy scene that flashed on screen. and you were more exhausted than you knew. and Spencer was just so damn comfortable its like the guys arms were made to dream in!
so you started dozing off.
not Spencer.
he couldn't tell if his heart was beating from using you as his own personal teddy bear, or from the horrifying, ghastly scenes unfolding on screen. he didnt even notice you had fallen asleep until he leaned down, eyes glue to the screen, to whisper how unlikely the existence of ghosts was, and you didn't answer. he looked down and let himself audibly sigh. a smile cracking on his lips at the irony of you falling asleep during a horror movie.
one last jump scare had woken you up at the very end of the movie. not so much the jump scare, but the jerk of Spencer's entire body and the slight yelp he let out. and you found yourself feeling sad that Spencer was going to go home.
you told him he could stay if he was scared, to which he replied he was completely not scared (though his lie was very obvious). and having not watched most of the movie, you were able to fall back asleep in no time.
that was not the case for Spencer.
he was incredibly paranoid as he walked up the stairs, afraid an evil spirit would be waiting to scare him in his apartment. and when he lied down to sleep, every shadow that appeared in his room seemed to resemble a ghost. he tossed and turned petrified for about an hour before deciding he couldn't stay alone in his apartment.
so he found himself driving back to your apartment at about midnight to ask if he could sleep in the guest bedroom.
when he arrived at your door you let out a chuckle at his request, giving him a sort of "told you so" talking to as you made arrangements in the guest room so he'd be comfortable. and boy did this make him feel better. he was still very scared, but it wasn't nearly as bad because he knew you were just a room away. he opted to get a glass of water to try and calm down.
you, however, had just now started to be scared as images replayed in your head of things that go bump in the night. you tossed and turned trying not to look at the shadowy corners of your room, but you just couldn't fall back asleep. so you decided to make your way to the kitchen for some water, keeping your head down to avoid spooking yourself via the various oddly shaped nicknacks in your home.
Spencer stiffened as he felt a presence in the room, and he turned to see the shadowy figure of a woman, hobbling towards him, head trained on the floor. he couldn't scream, he couldn't run, he couldn't do anything but stare terrified at the figure.
you looked up as you neared the kitchen, letting out a blood curdling scream when you saw a tall shadow man standing in your kitchen.
Spencer could scream now that the figure began screaming. he let out a high pitched yelp as he stumbled along the wall looking for the light switch. he felt the need to protect you from the ghost, so in a fit of deranged manliness he let out a string of words that in or out of context is completely laughable.
"fuck off you spooky bitch!" the shadow man yelled, finally finding the light switch.
when the light flicked on the confusion and horror stopped. and instead you and Spencer stood equally spooked, in your fight or flight response.
"Spencer?" you croaked, lowering a raised fist. you planned on fighting a ghost?
"y/n?" he asked back equally confused.
"i was getting water what are you doing?" you asked, laughing slightly as you realized what he had yelled out.
"i was too," he chuckled, remembering what he had called out, "sorry for telling you to fuck off and calling you a spooky bitch."
"its ok, sorry for being 100% ready to punch you in the neck."
you two stood in a silence that wasn't exactly comfortable but not awkward either as you got a glass and filled it with water.
"hey do-" he began.
"could i-" you started at the same time.
"you go first," he chuckled, taking a sip of his water.
"i wont be mad if you say no, but could i sleep in the guest bed with you? my room has way too many spooky corners." you asked shyly.
"i was just about to ask that," he smiled.
you let out a relieved sigh before gulping down your water and heading to sleep in the guest room.
you two lied weirdly far at first but after mentioning how the coat hanger looked like a man with horns you two both reached for each other. falling asleep wrapped tightly in each others arms. hearts beating together quickly; but not because of fear.
