I still think about this one WA user who, 2+ years ago, got mad at me for drawing my own interpretation of a canon character.

They took it SUPER personally that I drew Jayfeather brown instead of grey (because screw having fun right 🤷‍♂️)... Aaand then they blocked me after I told them I based his colours off of a brown jay LMAO. I also thought it would be cool if he looked more like his mum idk. I would have loved to see their reaction to the tortie Firestar I couldn't be bothered to post alongside it.

Here's another of my OC. I was going to make a super cool battle illustration with super cool effects and super cool lighting and I gave up almost instantly lol. SHE HAS NO WRISTS!!

This is one I made for Drawfest 2, like, 2 years ago now, I think. I thought it was coming along kinda nice except I couldn't get the perspective to look right so my character ended up looking huge lmao.

Here's ANOTHER of my OC. This one is really old lol. I've redesigned her now and I don't use this shading style anymore, so I retired this profile picture really early on.

Pico jumpscare I got really into Pico's school way back when and never saw any fanart for his death screen. So I wanted to try my hand at it. Got through the lineart before I decided I didn't like it and was not skilled enough to salvage it so I gave up. Might redraw this in the future though!

Haha mind the huge empty space on this one.

This was going to be a picture of Gregory and Freddy from FNaF Security Breach (made this around the time the game came out), but I quickly realized I couldn't draw animatronics and quit lol. You can kinda see the stripe on Gregory's shirt, but my sketching abilities back then were awful so it's a little hard.

ASJKFHSABFHJBF I ALMOST FORGOT I WAS DRAWING HIMMM!! This bean is a character from To Your Eternity, an anime I randomly found on Netflix once and fell in love with (I quit at the weird scene in the prison tho, remind me to finish it). HE WAS SO CUTE I JUST HAD TO DRAW HIM <3 Also this isn't the ball, this is the boy. I just didn't get to his eyes.

MULTIFANDOM IDEAAAAA

So me and my sister were talking a few years ago, and I think one of us misspoke and said "Coffee shot" instead of "Coffee shop," so this AU was born.

It's a coffee shop called the Coffee Shot staffed by characters that love guns and have guns and shoot guns and I love them. The shop is frequented by characters from other franchises (in this case Danganronpa), and it's got the best coffee and the best theming you've ever seen >:)

This one was based on Pinterest lol. I have boards for both of these franchises, but they kept wanting to save these two characters to each other's boards lol. SO I wanted to make a style swap with them! Didn't end up finishing it, though, but I do want to come back to it!

This first one is actually the second piece of fanart I ever did for this game, but I quit really quick because I SCREWED UP TAKA'S HAIR AND DIDN'T WANNA REDO IT BECAUSE EVERY TIME I TRIED IT LOOKED FUNKY SO NOW HE'S JUST FUZZY. AND THE BACKGROUND EWWW I FORGOT IT LOOKED LIKE THIS

And then this one is of the same two characters but based on a fanfic I read once. It was a Beauty and the Beast one. It was really fun to read. I liked it. It's on Wattpad if you're interested. I quit on this picture really quick tho. Made the sketch on Photoshop 2 years ago, transferred the sketch to FireAlpaca, then realized the sketch sucked and didn't bother trying again.

There's all my sketches. The ones that I'm willing to share, that is.

Let this be a lesson that not all of your pictures are going to go the way you want to. Your sketches are going to be messy, your lineart isn't going to match up, your colors are going to look funky, and your shading is going to want to make you rip out your hair sometimes.

I think what's important is to make sure that all that stuff doesn't discourage you.

If you give up all together, you'll never know what you'd've been able to produce if you hadn't.

If a picture isn't working for you, find out why. Then quit that picture, practice, and come back. You'll be able to compare yourself to your own art instead of other people's, which will give you a clearer sense of how far you've come.

1 - when and how did you get into hermitcraft?

I'm actually a pretty recent fan. I got recommended Lizzie's Last Life POV in April I think? It was completely random and I wasn't into MCYT at all but I remembered watching Lizzie as a kid and it was like 3am and I couldn't sleep so I was like why not and then my life literally changed forever.

I had to, completely unhinged, BEG my friends to watch this stupid ldshadowlady series that had the best storytelling I'd seen in anything ever with me. @kanohirren recognised Bdubs and Etho's names and we got curious so we watched their POVs as well. Cue "he loves me" and now neither of us are the same.

We ended up also watching 3L and DL and LimL when that came out and needed extra dosages to keep us going so we ended up watching Etho's Hermitcraft 7 (Shad-e-e's!) and various Hermitcraft 9 videos (mainly Pearl, Scar and Ren). I've watched a little bit of season 8 as well so I know about the whole moon big thing.

So yeah this is cursed but hermitcraft is basically my "they're all alive and well and happy and not dead" copium fanfic for the life series.

Sidenote he's not a hermit but I listened to screw the nether maybe too many times as a kid and lost it a bit when i realised it was the same martyn.

ummm uh just to machine gun fire a few there's luminousslime's buttercups, applestruda's gem and doc (and basically everyone else), hybbart's tango, jay's gem has won my heart, lunarcrown's hels!bdubs and hels!etho are maybe cheating but i care them and so has basically any interpretation of bdubs as a small (evil?) creature. First example that popped up in my mind was kanohi's accursed gremlin.

In terms of my own designs my style's gone through a bit of a shift recently so I've actually been meaning to redraw everything 😭😭but from what I've done so far I do really like my Pearl and Bdubs.

23 - what was your original opinion on hermitcraft/a hermit? did it change?

For MCYT as a whole tbh I used to be kind of a hater 😭😭 as someone who only really watched the occasional captainsparklez ig i didn't really "get" roleplay and all the fanart and stuff that was everywhere when DSMP was popular. +the whole character vs CC stuff.

((note here I don't actively dislike DSMP because I never got into it and wouldn't know I just choose not to interact with it out of my own reasons. I don't mind talking abt it or seeing it and so on))

I always knew hermitcraft existed but again I wasn't really into MCYT as a whole so I didn't think it would really be my thing ig?

And now look at me 😔😔

for individual hermits I had a very visceral reaction the first time I saw bdubs' skin like EW EUGH WHAT IS., THAT. and now i think he's the cutest ever.

HETEROCHROMIA: I've. I've done heterochromias before. this isn't that much of a challenge.

SELF INSERT: I am still very scared of putting an unadulterated version of myself into any sort of fiction, fan or non. so I intentionally skipped this one.

UNECESSICARILY COMPLEX FIT: Still not entirely sure of the Complexity on this one but i'm still satisfied :3

ANGEL X DEMON: Mark my words that these two will get better art in the future.

MS PAINT: Still mad that windows 11's paint program got so screwed up that i had to move entirely to paint.net

NEKO: Considering I'm a Furry, this is far from a challenge.

PINTEREST ART BASE: I had an idea for this. But then I couldn't find a good base to use. I instead appropriated Day 15 to complete on this day.

TUMBLR SEXYMAN: Still not a Onceling. But Onceler felt like the obvious choice this day.

CROSSOVER SHIP/RAREPAIR: I'm still dipping my toes into the fandom scene, so in my frantic scrambling, I shipped the first think that came to mind.

FURSONA: Again, Not yet confident in having a fursona yet. Unless you count December.

YANDERE: Felt like a bit of a departure from what I felt my usual style is or should be. But I still completed it!

CREEPYPASTA: I think I was too busy making the thing for Della Delightful to figure out which classic creepypasta to draw.

CANDYGORE: This was said Della Delightful thing. I accidentally took the prompt a little too literally to properly repost on the main acc, but i think there's still a noticable amount of lore that can be gathered here.

SONG LYRICS: I Knew Pocketing those Penelope Scott Lyrics was a good idea!

FAKE ANIME SCREENSHOT: I would waste way too much time on this prompt in the service of making it "perfect".

OLD ART REDRAW: Good luck finding any of my old drawings 'cause none of it was posted online and/or are most likely mostly gone for good. I physically could not complete this prompt to my satisfaction.

DOLLS/PUPPETS/ETC: I Tried to base Chloe's Clothing off of the 2012 Holiday Barbie's Dress. But then I just kinda. didn't.

HANAHAKI DISEASE: I Couldn't figure out the scenario let alone pull it off with how sucky i was feeling at that time.

100% SATURATION: Funny Oversaturated Colours :3

MAID DRESS / SAILOR UNIFORM: I was planning on fusing them both. But unfortunately the mood forced me to get a "once every other day" schedule and this unfortunately fell out of the proper parity.

MEME(S): It was just one meme. But I was happy to draw Soho Again.

MLP: Again, Parity Problems.

GIJINKA: It was Divine Inspiration, the choice to Gijinka Dusty. And then i think it ran out before I could manage to figure out what she'd wear for a top so I just sorta made her wear a bikini top and shorts i'm sorry-

ALL EDGE NO POINT: I am Diametrically opposed to edge. So I was going to skip this either way.

BABYGIRL POSE: Couldn't manage to figure out which character to draw before the day came and went. I Asked a couple friends which babygirl i should draw and neither of them were any help.

ALT FASHION: This and onwards I'm skipping. I am sorry.

HOT VILLAIN: I was honestly waiting for divine inspiration to strike to let me determine who to draw, because I never considered any of the villains I know of to be attractive to me. Yes, even the Onceler. Man's basically CEO Incarnate.

VIDEO GAME: by god this prompt is vague. it'd be tough finding a videogame that's both cringe and not entirely problematic.

HALLOWEEN: Probably gonna do this for Della anyways ngl i can't pass up this chance

the special project

“Cross! We’re almost closing!” dream got closer to the actor that was sitting behind the scenes, a smile plastered on his face. He was holding his phone, and didn’t even look up to meet dream’s eyes-

“Hey- are you even listening!” dream pouted, and only then did cross’s eyelights met dream’s “Don’t worry. We can stay here a little longer- it’s not like the director likes to leave early!” his smile got a bit wider, but dream sat next to him, and looked over his shoulder- “…what are you looking at then?” dream wasn’t able to leave, not without cross at least, and he was getting curious; what could make cross ignore him so blatantly? Even memes weren’t so effective-

Cross suddenly nuzzled dream’s cheek, which made his face turn yellow as the other showed him his phone- the both sat in a more comfortable position, when dream finally read what was shown to him-

“It’s the reviews of the series! People are asking questions to both of us, and are speculating on the upcoming chapters- plus, they are even giving us compliments!” cross’s grin got wider-

Cross was pretty shy in person, so he tried his best to overcome that by acting, and meeting new people. though he was always so insecure about his acting skills, it didn’t stop him from entering both the underverse show and the dark cream studio- sure, it was a bit tiring, but he’s always enjoyed the times spent there, especially with dream, his best friend- though he considered him as more than that, he didn’t know how to ask him out, but the scenarios in the series was making things easier, considering they were both a couple in it-

Dream smiled- he was also happy to work with cross, and wanted to get a bit closer to him each day, though his brother was a pain very often- he swore to him one day that he’d snap next time he tried to get into a conversation between him and cross, not mentioning killer- though killer was the absolute opposite- cross and killer had been friends for as long as he remembered, and no matter how he denied everything, he was trying to hook them both together-

Even after dream’s protests, he was glad killer was trying to help, because he sure needed to-

“aww- how sweet of them! Wait- can I see some questions?” dream hummed, and cross huffed- “I dunno- they’re just some stuff about whether you like acting or not- the usual-“ he was obviously lying, so dream hopped on his phone as the other yelped in surprise- “h-hey! Give it back!” he jumped on dream, but the other laughed out loud- “oh come on! It can’t be this bad-“

He looked at the phone, but the questions and asks were all- about him? Dream blushed a bit, but cross snatched away his phone and huffed- “you’d get embarrassed anyway!”

Dream paused, what should he do to convince him? Well, teasing cross was always so fun, so he hummed- “okay- but how long will it take you to get off me-“ cross suddenly  realized he’d been sitting on the poor dream all this time, so his face got lit up with a purple hue when he finally got up- “s-sorry about that-“ he scratched the back of his skull, totally ashamed, but dream took the opportunity to mutter- “well- maybe now we can read the questions together- How about that?” he smiled, a tint of yellow on his cheeks- cross paused a second, then sighed- “we’re in for a ride-“

 They sat next to each other, trying to put the phone in the middle so it can be seen by them both. Dream felt his cheeks getting quite heated up- they weren’t usually this close to each other. on another note, if nightmare saw them like that, he’d do everything in his power to split them apart-

“Okay, first question: dream is this hot bastard on set, but how is he in real life?”

“pff- what is even this question?” cross snickered, dream only huffed- “well, how do you find me in real life then?” dream crossed his arms, but cross gave him a lazy grin and just answered- “well, I don’t think it really changes in person-“ “CROSS-“ dream pouted, and cross laughed out, but dream still continued reading-

“okay then- …oh- dream looks so good with heels, but does he like wearing them?” cross paused, awaiting his answer, when the other looked at him dead in the eyes and said- “anything to be taller than this bastard-“ cross busted out laughing, and dream continued-  “shut up you dummy- here is a question for you! Umm- are you scared of cows in real life-“ dream tried so hard not to laugh, but cross shivered- “people cannot understand how scary these creatures are- it’s nOT FUNNY to be almost eaten by a cow!” dream couldn’t take it, so he cried out- “ohaHA- I’ve already told you- c-cows are herbivorous- they eat grass and such- n-not skeletons!” dream felt bad to tease cross about something he’s afraid of, but cows cannot eat monsters, and that was a fact.

“ugh-“ cross pouted, then looked away. Dream paused, he wanted to say something, but just looked back at the other’s phone, and said- “…okay- here is a question for us both now- do you guys-“ dream couldn’t finish his sentence when he lost his eyelights- cross looked at him, wondering what was wrong about the question- “uhhh… okay, let me rephrase that! Mmm- s-so you guys are together in dark cream, but what is your relationship in real life-“

dream blushed, but tried to hide it- cross paused, then muttered- “well-“ if killer or epic could hear their conversation, they’d be cheering for him to finally ask him out- and if nightmare could hear them, he’d be running in too late, because cross inhaled silently and tried to let out “well, I would like to ask you out for this afternoon-“ cross’s face was getting very purple, but it was no match to dream’s- dream lost his eyelights again, and his mouth was half open. He dropped the other’s phone, and the other was lucky it landed on a carpet-

“u-umm- dream?” cross cursed himself- why did he just bring this up now! But dream whispered- “…okay- I’d love- I- I mean- we can go out together as soon as we finish some asks-“dream was so close to scream in happiness- he asked HIM OUUT! Cross chuckled nervously, but he took his phone from the floor, then continued-

“how is nightmare in real life-“ cross paused, then muttered- “I’m sorry dream, but I don’t know how you couldn’t notice how each time I previously tried to confess, he’d try to split us up” cross sighed, but dream laughed, almost maniacally- “ahaha- do you think I didn’t?!” cross turned around- “wait, you knew I liked you???” he was a bit surprised, but dream suddenly let out- “what- n-no- not really- I wasn’t really sure- but that idiot didn’t let me get closer to you!”

dream crossed his arms, but cross laughed out- “oh my- ahaha-“ they both chuckled for a little more, then cross tried to find another interesting ask when one caught his attention, though he didn’t voice it out- (what if cross tried to propose to dream on set? there is no way it’s not a good idea, maybe he can convince the director!) cross smiled, it was a good idea- but he wasn’t sure if dream was going to agree to it-

Dream yawned, it was getting quite late- “well- if you want to take me out somewhere, it’s time.” Dream stretched, and cross couldn’t help but think of how different he had become-

Dream used to be very sad when they first met, and had the appearance of a cute and innocent person, and he still is! But he was more confident in himself now; he finally looked… happy- so much more- he also looked more mature and hotter. Cross smiled, they both really changed from the first time they met, and he was so happy to take him out on a date, the person he truly admired.

“okay then, let’s go-“ he held the other’s hand, and dream smiled, and leaned on his arm a bit more, he wanted this to happen for so long-

 Thank god nightmare wasn’t here.

so how about a bonus “writing” to celebrate?

The place I will talk about is always warm and welcoming, there’s a bunch of tea and cookies and some apples lying here and there, and after an event called “sweet day”, candy and cake was left stacked up like the tons of ask received every day inside the little mailbox. This place contains very interesting individuals whose presence contribute in the fun and enjoyment of the visitors and the creator himself. After being there for a while, you might notice why these people are quite special considering the relaxing atmosphere of this place;

*knock* *knock*

who’s there you might ask? Well it is-

“DAILY POSITYVITY OF COURSE!!”

“Please close the door behind you after you enter-“

“what door?”

the positivity was so strong that it shattered a galaxy and went to another universe searching for a worthy opponent- love senders and daily positive anons are very frequent here, and as their name might show you, they are responsible of giving enough motivation and positivity for the creators, and the destruction of most doors, windows, walls, universes, and being obviously chased by negative and suspicious people trying to prevent them from giving the creators positivity.

some anons are still wondering why they are simping for characters while others already gave a very specific reason “LEEEGS-“ some are also wondering how did the creator made them so hot- only a superior brain can do so mind you- just kidding- everyone can do it if they give him good heels;

This place had different phases, and if I had to describe it to, it may look like this;

“wait- how about a cute ship?” oh- Fluffynight!”but what about killermare? “So how about a love triangle!” “And where do we put this scenario then-“ “wait- what if it was all a show like underverse studios- how would they make tentacles then?” ”Wait- tentacle, you mean S!D’s? Wait! let’s say- they have a mind of their own-“”wait- but-“”OH my- I wonder how these tentacles would look like if their possessor is a Greek god-“”whoa- and "whatifnightmareactuallysentcrosswhoismortaltokilldreambuthefellinlovewithhim?!”

“Um…what? “

Please take this as a very brief explanation- some of these subjects can last a day- or two or even a week if it is a generator of ideas, no matter how cursed, sweet or angsty they are.

Creators are very common in this place, they can be artists, or writers, though there might be more talented people, but they might had never talked about it- they might be musicians, composers, singers, and so much more, but who am I to say? Maybe there is one who’s reading this that can draw, or write, do both, or so much more- I just am saying that this place is filled with amazing people!

There are some people who considered that S!D and cross needed kids, which is funny because, there are now a lot of ship children laying in their arms- they can be twin babies, independent teenagers, cute cinnamon rolls, or a result of neglect or a curse- and those different types of children make a very good source of inspiration, and provide ideas for both artist and writers;

The creators deserves support- and people do help their work to be shared, and considering some had made commissions available, there was and will be more support for them, and that’s why I wanted to add those who had bought some hot koffees. I am very glad that the creators are receiving support, because it makes them happy and motivated, and that’s honestly what all of them deserve; support.

Finally- this place has the healthiest and pleasing aura I’ve ever felt- and has very unique characters that are daily sending questions, or ideas, or creations, and listing everything would take a lot of time, but every single one of them is as unique as the other, so fear not if I haven’t included more- because there is too much-

And thank you for reading this little writing- I didn’t think you’d actually read such a thing ,but to be honest, I actually never thought you’d ever read any of the writings I’ve made- I’ve never thought this will be the first thing I will be associated with, writing. Because I only write when I have art block, or when I have a very good idea, or if it’s something I don’t want to draw now and need to remember to draw in the future, but it seriously made me so happy when people actually enjoyed something I’ve made, and I want the creators that I most enjoy and so much others to feel the same thing- the happiness that someone thinks you’re good at something, that’s why it is the most silliest and the most interesting gift I can ever write to thank you zu, and everyone who supports her, and the creators I’ve seen there! Victim: loosely based on some thoughts that Victim is still alive in a void, all alone there after being deleted in Animator vs. Animation (original). The lyric above is from the song "Found" from Steven Universe: The Movie. For context, in this musical number, after hearing that Pink Diamond abandoned Spinel in her garden for 6,000 years, Steven reassures her that she'll be able to find another friend who will truly give her the love and friendship she was eventually deprived of. Although Victim and Spinel's scenarios are different, I thought the song could still fit the former in a few ways, hence the lyric above (well... the second part of what I put at least, don't know about the first part). Also, when you listen to its instrumentals, the beginning part gives off the ambience of being in space or in an empty void.

Purple: pretty much the entire fandom believes that Purple can still be good, including me. The flower is intended to be white, if I had colored any of the drawings.

Red: Red's spreading out his love to everyone. The lyrics in this drawing are from the song "Tokimeki Tonight," which is the opening song for the 80's anime of the same name. The English translation is as follows, as provided by the English subs of the anime: "I love you... what am I doing? Can't stay calm... because it's a heart-throbbing tonight. I love you... feels like being teased... I want my eyes to meet yours... in this heart-throbbing tonight." Think of this drawing as an early mini Valentine's Day drawing.

Yellow: based on a comment I saw in Blue's New Superpower. I couldn't resist doing a (basic) redraw of the original meme, which is from Gravity Falls. Despite the stick figures' fundraising events being only dreams, I have a headcannon that Yellow's the designated driver of the main five, although he sometimes forgets to follow the road / maritime laws... for reasons asdjnivng

The Second Coming and Green: Ship tease time - Second and Green edition: Second's having his morning coffee while Green gives him a little kiss on the cheek. The lyrics in this one are from "Pajama no Mama de," which is one of the ending songs for another 80's anime, Mahou no Tenshi Creamy Mami. The English translation, as also provided by the English subs: "Staying in my pajamas, I want to drink morning coffee with you. Staying in my pajamas, I want to give you a good morning kiss."

Do you have a picture of how your drawing improved over time?

Alrighty, first off, apologies for having had this in my inbox for so long. In my defense, my old art is usually buried into the deepest pits of hell as to not make me die of cringe, BUT I decided to clean yesterday and ended up going down the memory lane for about three hours trying to gather everything into a box for safekeeping and this ask popped into my mind. So what better time to answer it.

Now, I'm gonna preface this by saying two things. One, I don't have anything from before 2012-ish as a lot of my childhood art stayed in my hometown when I moved. Two, while a lot of this is... well not good per se, it's definitely not as bad as it got since I'm not particularly keen on putting my very bad art on blast. I'm not embarrassed by it, quite the opposite, since seeing the progress and remembering just how proud younger me used to be of these makes me actually fond of them. But still.

Also no cringy fanart for y'all . Which in hindsight may not be much better as you get cringy ocs. Enjoy (???)

Alright starting off with 2012/13- ish? God this is so bad. Definitely couldn't draw a person to save my life but like.... kudos to me for trying to learn fur??? Emphasis on trying

Around 2014 tho Frank I'm not even sure. Ugh why did young me not sign anything between 13 and 16 this gave me headaches.

Pretty sure this was 2015. Woo for teen me giving human faces another go. Still a long way to go but hey gotta start somewhere.

2016! Back to signing my shit thank you so much younger me. This oc isn't even that bad kinda wanna redraw it ngl but the fur is atrocious

2017. Wtf was wrong with how I drew eyes. Ok tbf I still place them wonky as fuck sometimes oh well

2018 with a badass shark mermaid. Can't draw hands for shit tho lol

2019. Looks like I got some lineart skills finally.

And, as a final note, I also gathered all the binders, file holders, sketchbooks and everything in between, in a pile because frankly even I was baffled at the sheer amount of art I did since around 2013 up to today. And this doesn't even include the things I drew as a child, school projects or things that I've missed (because I'm certain I missed some) or even the ungodly amount of digital art.

That's to say, art like any other craft, is something that requires time and effort and blood and sweat and frankly a couple loose screws, because all of us who dedicate so much time to this are some kinda flavor of masochistic.

Anyway, I would've loved to show more but unfortunately there's a 10 image limit, though if anyone else is curious in the future I may add to my short gallery of past cringe

As with most things I post, it began as a humble scribble.

The eyes were the only thing I kept from my first draft. Mostly because I screwed them up after that, and couldn't figure out where I'd gone wrong. I've found that it's often easier to start over than to try to fix something that has a less obvious problem.

Draw, redraw, digitize in ArtRage, edit some things, then dissolve the sketch layer to reduce (in)accuracies, and colour over it with transparency before drawing final lines over the colour layer.

Not sure if that's how it should be done; I'm far from learned in the field of art, let alone digital art, which I have very limited exposure to. I was pretty handy with GIMP in highschool, but from what I read about it online, it's one of the least used programs for painting and illustrations. I guess that's why dedicated art programs like ArtRage survive; they serve a purpose.

I've actually never used ArtRage 6 before, and the last time I used it at all was windows XP, IIRC. This was a learning experience, but the program is pretty straight forward, mostly because the UI is well laid out. Unfortunately, there's a lot of finicky design choices, at least when you don't have keyboard shortcuts on hand.

Worth mentioning that I'm drawing on a pen display from xp-pen, while sitting on the couch, so I have no other input devices; just the pen on the screen. Hardly ideal, but I don't have space for a proper setup at the moment.

I'm actually waiting on a stylus for a windows tablet that I bought recently, so that's gonna liberate me as much as a pen and paper can, but with the full horsepower of clip studio, or whatever else I end up downloading. Looking forward to trying it, hopefully it's a comfortable experience.

I should actually do more studies and practice pages like above. I actually really enjoy starting the same picture over a few times in a row - it gave me the chance to avoid mistakes I'd made previously, rather than just trying to edit them out. Builds better habits, I think.

Random story time.

So I draw. I wanted to talk about how my Art's improved and evolved within the five years I've been consistently drawing.

Pre-6th grade:

I didn't draw much, but I had an interest in art. Most of what I'd draw were dragons. I hated drawing realistic, but my creativity hadn't evolved yet. So dragons was the answer.

This is the piece I remember the most. It's been my phone's screen saver for a while. Besides the obvious technical difficulties, you can see how most of the effort went into the face, especially with making the eyes.

6th grade:

I started drawing rapid fire. Knowing my tendency towards dragons, I tried to limit myself on the amount done. Many of the creatures I drew were mash-ups of two creatures.

At this point I was using pencil only and on lined paper, the drawings were done at lunch. I don't have most of the drawings from here, but I think there were roughly 50. Also every creature was named. I tried clever naming, then I gave up and tried combing words. Sadly I do not have any pictures. To give you an idea of what the creatures looked like, below is a redrawing of the first two creatures conceptualized (the drawing was from 9th grade).

The dog was designed by a friend while the dragon was designed by me.

The designs (though not demonstrated here), had the inclination of scorpion tail and/or bat wings.

7th grade:

The designs were being chugged out at rapid fire++, in that I'd get two done within a lunch. I did not have a social life, it wasn't hard to throw in so many drawings.

I experimented a lot with faces, a face (also eye) that splits open to reveal the mouth, fancy horns, and some other stuff, don't quite remember. However, a lot of the drawings had the same body type and weren't as distinguished.

7th grade is also the only time I tried drawing weird structures and plants. Also this is where I stopped basing the names off anything (consciously), so every name was a long unpronounceable string.

Unfortunately, the only drawing saved on my phone is the one where I accidentally made a penis monster. The thought process was "what if I swap the face and butt?" You can see how the main body is pretty bare bones and how the feet aren't that interesting either.

There was also a craze to have these really weird eyes, scorpion tail and bat wings stayed, and there are probably hundreds of drawings because of how quickly I produced them.

8th grade:

Seeing how uninteresting the bodies were, I decided no one is allowed to have a face. As morbid as that sounds, the end result meant I was finally achieving interesting bodies. At this point I have no idea where my mind is drawing from in some of these. It's also where I started coloring more than 1% of the drawings. Stuff was also outlined in pen.

A lot of designs shared the same color scheme. Blue/Purple/Black or Yellow/Orange/Black. This is also where I started giving my drawings hair. These creatures tended to be ethereal with floating parts, almost everything was meant to levitate. It's also where naming calmed down.

8th grade is probably one of the few times I stuck to one aesthetic.

9th Grade (Part I)

This is divided into multiple parts because I was doing very different things between them.

First half of 9th Grade was spent on fan art, especially with Pokémon fusions. It was the first time making stuff that wasn't fully original, there were still some original creatures thrown in for good measure. I wasn't trying to improve so much as enjoy myself.

Pokémon fusions weren't difficult to draw and I enjoyed them, so there are a lot. This also where I went from using lined paper to printing paper and used marker rather than pen to trace the lines.

It was the Xenoblade fan Arts that were responsible for getting me addicted to drawing utter bullshit with the clothes.

Who made this armor and why is it so complicated?! Xenoblade probably influenced my art more than it should have, but oh well.

9th Grade (Part II)

This is where I started trying to draw humans. Some creatures were still drawn with the no face limit removed. The year was spent focusing on making stuff wear clothes and also making good looking humans.

The first humans I drew were fully covered, much more so than most of my current drawings. There was a heavy overeliance on tights when I couldn't think of any pants, also everyone was wearing boots with some amount of heels. The silhouette isn't amazing either, but if focus on that later.

There were also quite a few drawings with massive weapons, weird hair (like above), and having hands flipped the wrong way when holding things.

Some of the designs weren't as clothed, but the reason was less sexual and more because that type of armor is unrealistic and fun.

10th Grade (Part I)

I was drawing original creatures and humans using clothes. There was also some fan art thrown into the mix. However, here's where a ton of problems started popping up with sexualization. I was screwing up boob size and also putting my people in more revealing clothes.

While this design isn't terrible, you can see how it's way more revealing than the previous human. It's also the point where the dudes I drew became less frequent.

I had a friend who around the time kept accusing my drawings of being gross and ovjectifying, which while intended to get me to draw characters fully dressed, had the opposite effect of making me want to go further. The whole thing reached its peak here:

You don't outsex this. It's physically impossible. So I tried. Eventually I started putting more interesting clothes on my characters.
