Hello there! I'm not even sure how to start. So I felt very disappointed by DA:TV, because of various reasons. Not trying to dampen the mood, I am super happy for you if you actually enjoyed the game! If you do not mind, could you list the things you liked/loved about the game? Help me see the "bright side"? Just gush a litte about it, I could use some positive input around my favourite gaming series of all time. :') thank you <3
Absolutely! For me, I think I always figured I was going to like this game, even if it wasn't my fave of all time? Trick Weekes always writes characters/quests that I like, and for me, story/characters come before anything else. I liked Andromeda, flawed as it was. Even if the gameplay was mediocre, I was certain I'd find something I'd like.
But the gameplay wasn't mediocre. It was actually really, really fun. I played Spellblade, and honestly, the gameplay might be a highpoint for me. I don't really like action gameplay, I tolerate it. I loved this, though.
The biggest thing that really sold me is the fact that the big choices in this game are difficult in a way Bioware has been trying to capture since Origins, but I don't think they've ever nailed until now (except maybe in Mass Effect). Even in Origins, when they had big choices like what to do with Connor, or how to deal with the werewolves, there was always a cop out choice. There isn't one in this game, so far as I can see. At the end of EVERY companion quest there was a choice I couldn't choose, something that made me wonder just what would've happened if I'd picked something different, and don't get me started on the endgame. The endgame was brutal :')
I love the characters, too! I do think some of the writing can get a bit campy or be a bit on the nose, I think some subtlety is lacking for certain characters especially in the beginning, but once shit hits the fan just about every companion has their gutwrenching moment. I felt for every single character in this game, during their act 2 personal quest moments. In all the other games there was at least one character I just couldn't care about, but even the ones that I thought wouldn't tickle my fancy snuck up on me. By the end, I loved all of them so much. I only wanted more.
I like Rook, too. I think I can see how their characterization might be disappointing, though. I think the key for me and my friend @sweetmage was finding the right Rook to play. We both had lots of concepts and while I plugged in the right one first, I know they struggled until they found the right one. Rook is kinda like Hawke in the way that they have a bit of personality already and a defined character path, which can get in the way of true RP. Once I stopped fighting it and let Rook be Rook, I liked the game a lot more, and I liked my character a lot more.
Then there's lore. Oh, lore. I have listened to or read every codex. I have a treasure trove of theories I keep locked in my head. All I need is a corkboard and some red string. Getting to see so many of those theories come to fruition? Things they've been teasing since Origins, that I picked up on when I was 12? Absolutely magical! Some of it I think they bungled--there's one reveal I've been waiting for for 15 years that I found in a note, not codex, on a bridge in Minrathous, no fanfare or anything--but the majority of it punched me right in the face with so much force I had to pause the game and do a little pacing. I won't get into specifics for spoiler reasons, but seeing all those little dots connect? seeing when I was right, and when I was wrong? SO euphoric for me!
A lot of the things I didn't like, too, like making the Crows less shitty--so easy to headcanon around, in ways that don't contradict canon! It's one of my favorite things to do, it feels like a puzzle to me, making everything that is for certain and everything I want fit together. That one, for instance, Zevran totally gutted all the shitty Crows, and left only the good ones :)
I will say, it's clear they were trying to wrap things up. I got the sense while playing it felt that they didn't want to leave any loose threads in case this was their last DA game, so that felt a bit rushed. But I loved it. To me it was a love letter, saying goodbye. Wrapping everything up in a nice little bow. I've always struggled to choose a favorite game in the DA series, they all do something I love so differently that I can't pinpoint one singular favorite, and I think this one is right up there for me, tied for 1st place with the other three games. Like DA2 and DAI I think it could've cooked just a little bit longer, there's a lot of potential for it to be a 9/10 game imho if they'd smoothed a couple of things out, but there's a lot in there for me to love.
Thank you so much for the question, I hope the wall of text will help you see a bit of the light haha. I don't mind that people didn't like it--that's just how it goes sometimes, and I think there are a lot of valid criticisms to be had. For me I was just super bummed that it was the only thing I was seeing online. I'm following lots of positivity now, so the occasional disenchantment is not a problem. Idk if it'll work for you, but @sweetmage was similarly disappointed until they streamed it with a friend, and then just having someone there to converse with it on really helped them to enjoy it. I hope you can find something to love in it, too!

By the time Dani woke up all the guys were in the living hanging out with Madi. Matt didn't want to wake her up so he just let her sleep still.
"About time you join us." Madi laughs as Dani walks over to them.
The two had recently been messaging each other to get to know each other. Nick had talked to Madi about Dani and she thought she seemed cool so she reached out to Dani. They actually hit it off really good. They talked like they were sisters especially late at night on the phone.
"What time is it?"
"4:30, and I picked you up at noon so." Matt laughs at her as she gets one of Chris Pepsis.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" He shouts at her.
"I'll buy you a case dude." She joins them on the couch.
Not much later Matt and Dani leave to go bowling and Chris was annoyed they didn't ask if anyone else wanted to join them.
"Am I right or wrong?" Chris asks Nick and Madi.
"Ehh, they made plans already." Nick says not caring as much.
"I suck at bowling so." Madi laughs while Chris leaves going to his room. "Why is he extra moody?" She asks Nick.
"I'm guess, jealous but he won't admit it."
"He likes Dani?" Madi gets excited to gossip.
"I'm sure both do deep down. Which doesn't make me too happy because I don't want anything bad happening." Nick explains to her.
"Who does she speed more time with?"
"Matt," Nick says quickly, "He's constantly making plans with her, texting, and calling." He adds, "He pretended like he was with her while on the phone because her friend's boyfriend is a creep."
"I need to study him around her to confirm if he does or not. I'm gonna be like a hawk when they get back."
Meanwhile with Matt and Dani for the past hour have been playfully arguing about how each other are at bowling. "What are you talking about? I would've gotten a strike if you didn't bump into me." Dani points at the score board show how she would've gotten a turkey.
"I hardly bumped into so it shouldn't have matter."
"Hardly my ass!" She playfully shoves him as he goes to pick up his ball.
As he gets ready to shoot the ball, Dani walks up behind him on the other side and leans up kissing his cheek causing him to get a gutter ball.
"You little cheater!" He spins around grabbing her picking her up as she giggles.
Honestly it didn't matter if they were being slightly loud because not that many people were there. Plus the music was playing pretty loudly as well.
As Matt spins them around, Dani's eyes catch sight of Tanner and two of his friends a few lanes over starting a game. And of course he noticed her with Matt.
"Kill me." Dani groans so Matt puts her down.
"What?"
"Fucking, Tanner is here." She moves her eyes that way and Matt looks over.
It was obvious which one was Tanner just by him staring them down. Second was his height since his friends were shorter than him.
"He is ugly." Matt looks back at Dani, "How is he going to be a giant but never grow into his ears or nose? Plus with that hairline along with being a red head. Nothing against red heads but that color with that style? It's 2024 why is his hair spiked?"
Dani can't help crack up, "I honestly don't know what Hallie sees in him. She's way too pretty for him."
As they get closer to finishing their game Tanner walked over to them, "Hey Dani, do you have any money so we can play a second game?"
"No, I'm not even paying for this game. Ask your girlfriend to send you money."
"She doesn't have any unless it's the left over money you give her for our rent and bills." He tells her.
"Excuse me? Extra? There shouldn't be any extra money. I give her the exact amount she tells me my half is." Dani starts to get angry.
"Did I say extra?" He laughs.
"She is stealing money from me?" Dani crosses her arms, "Yet she wants me to pay for your fucking half?" She shouts so Matt quickly ends the game so they can leave.
"The game is over." Matt walks over to the two.
"So you're not Dani's boyfriend? One of the triples from YouTube..." Tanner looks down at Matt.
"That would be me."
"Fuck this. Lets go." Dani grabs Matt's hand so they can leave. Outside Dani tells Matt to give her a second so she could call Hallie and put her on speaker phone so she could set her phone down to talk.
"Do you want me to get out of the car or?" Matt asks but she tells him no as Hallie answers.
"What up?"
"I want you to be honest with me. We've been friends for a good amount of years now." Dani starts off.
"Yeah, and?" Hallie asks confused.
"Are you stealing money from me? Tanner just slipped up that I give you extra money after bills and rent. You already want me to pay his half yet to take some of my money?"
"You seriously believe him?" Hallie laughs.
"I actually do so what the hell Hallie?"
"So what if there's a few dollars left over?" She asks.
"That's stealing from me! Why don't you put some of that crap as his part then? I'm not giving you money anymore. I'll pay it myself."
"Well, I don't want you to do that so it's you give me the money or you have to move out." Hallie tells her.
"Are you kidding me? You would kick me out of the house because I want to make sure I know where my money is going?" Dani laughs at her.
"You know what, I would because I am. You're out of the house not on for all this shit but because you always try to make it seem like Tanner has a thing for you." Hallie says making Dani laugh more.
"Because he does! He constantly flirts when you aren't around."
"I want you out of the house before I get back on Sunday." Hallie tells her so Dani just hangs up deleting her number.
Dani sits there with her eyes close wanting to cry because she was so frustrated and now had to figure out what to do next. "Colby is so going to tell me when I go back home, I told you living with her was a mistake. He's always hated her."
Matt could see all the emotions she was going through and hated it, "Come stay with us."
"Matt there's no room for me." She looks over at him.
"We could figure something out for you. And until we do you can just crash in our rooms with us." He tells her, "We don't want you leaving us because of one bitch."
"That's a lot, Matt. Just for someone you still just met weeks ago. Plus all three of you would need to talk it over." She tells him as she starts the car head over to her place.
"That's all true but I don't care. But I know you know we clicked right away and we're getting pretty close." He doesn't look over at her as she looks at him, "Plus I know my brothers and they wouldn't mind. And if they did I would be like well I have a new roommate so deal with it."
"I appreciate you care."
Matt looks over giving her a smile, "Of course, now how much shit do you have?" He asks causing her to laugh.
They spend about an hour or two getting all of her things putting them in her car and his car before heading to house, "And we can go back for your bed tomorrow with a truck or when it's time we can just bye I whole new bed. I say we should just get you a new one." Matt says as they enter the house.
"I might agree because that piece of shit was killing my back. It's so old and used." Dani agrees with him.
"Why does Dani need her bed?" Chris asks confused by their conversation.
Dani looks at Matt so he asks to talk to the two alone so they all just go up to Nicks room. When they guys were gone, Madi looks at Dani, "About time you guys showed up. How was the date?"
"It wasn't a date." Dani gives her a look as she takes a seat exhausted from everything.
"I know but if it was would it bug you?" Mari asks wanting to know where Dani stood.
"Probably not."
"So you like Matt?" Madi smiles.
"I'm not entirely certain. I just want a friend but how he's been today is doing something to my heart." Dani whines.
"He is a sweetheart." Madi agrees, "Maybe see what happens along the way as you two get closer."
Dani just stares at Madi then laughs, "Nick would lose his mind if I get feelings for Matt. Hell, Chris too."
"Oh I know. We had a talk." She laughs, "So, do you think you might like Chris as well or?"
Dani shrugs, "Out of the two I'm closer to Matt. But each have a thing about them that makes me feel fuzzy inside."
"Well, I wish you luck on your journey."

GQ Magazine - July 2007
The Summer of Jessica Biel
To celebrate Biel’s being in a movie actually worth seeing, we sent Adam Stein to play carnival games with her.
When I told various friends I’d be interviewing Jessica Biel, I got the responses you’d expect—jealousy, mild rage, a plea to give her a phone number because she’s the one person that a friend’s wife would give him a free pass to sleep with. The uncanny thing is, when I asked these guys what they thought of her as an actress, most of them drew a blank. They hadn’t seen a single motion picture of hers. Okay, one or two had girlfriends who’d brought them to see The Illusionist, but otherwise, nada. As my friend Taj put it: “I’m obsessed with a girl I’ve never seen move.“
Well, that’s about to change. Later this month, men across America will see Jessica being very good in a very funny movie, and the nature of their love for her will…deepen. She’ll still be inhumanly beautiful, sure, but now they’ll have to contend with genuine talent, too, and that one-two punch can be disorienting. You know what else can? The fact that despite her recent tabloid exposure, she’s actually sweet, funny, earnest, occasionally a little crude, and—if my time playing carnival games with her can be used as evidence—uniquely driven to conquer whatever stands between Jessica Biel and what she wants.
I am waiting for her at the Santa Monica Pier, sitting on a stool next to one of those games where you shoot water from a gun into a clown’s mouth. I haven’t shaved for a week, because I read somewhere that Jessica Biel likes guys with beards. I’m inspecting mine in the reflective back of my iPod when a nice-looking young woman materializes in my view. “Excuse me,“ she says. “Are you Adam?“ “Jessica?“ I ask, ridiculously. Of course it’s her, in wraparound sunglasses, an open gray sweater over a white blouse, and faded jeans. She wears checkered Vans, like Jeff Spicoli. On the pier, no one recognizes her, which I suppose makes sense: There’s little resemblance between the pinup girl and the sneaker-wearing civilian out on a Monday afternoon. She doesn’t stick out as we walk the wooden planks of the amusement park; she blends in. She is, you might say, a very chill girl.
“Can we get a photo next to a star?“ she asks, stopping in front of a booth hawking photographs with huge cardboard cutouts of celebrities. It’s an impressive, eclectic array: Bill Clinton, Mini Me, Michael Jordan, Hilary Duff, Enrique Iglesias(!), Jean-Claude Van Damme, DiCaprio in Titanic. “They’re all kind of old,“ she says. I don’t know if she means the cutouts or the celebrities themselves (because to me, Mini Me will never age). She’s only 25 years old, so it could go either way. I ask her who she’d most want to pose with. She scrutinizes the assembly and makes her call: “I’d probably pick Van Damme, ‘cause he looks the coolest.“ She takes the Muscles from Brussels over Leo—a victory of might over sensitivity. Nice.
Then she decides it’s time for the games to begin. She passes up the Riptide Ring Toss (“That one is impossible,“ she says) and focuses her attention on the Pier Plank Plunge. The PPP is basically a rope ladder suspended horizontally over an inflatable mattress. The trick is to climb, perfectly balanced, to a taunting red button placed approximately ten feet away. Press the button, win the prize—an enormous Sonic the Hedgehog. I ask her if she’s ever Pier Plank Plunged before. “Yes,“ she says, assessing the structure, looking for its weaknesses. “But I’ve never been able to achieve it.“ She begins barraging the bored-looking carny with questions. “Do you have any tips?“ (It’s all about balance.) “Have you done it before?“ (Nope.) “Has anyone ever won?“ (Yeah.) “Has anyone won today?“ (Not yet.) She turns to me, and I have to say she seems genuinely excited. “This is our chance,“ she says. “It’s our chance to win.“ I’m beginning to get the distinct impression that winning is important to Jessica Biel. “Ladies first“ being the imperative, I take the initial go-round. It’s harder than it looks. My arms shake. Everything shakes. I can feel her hopefulness—Do it, get there—but I fall off within seconds. The shame is truly surprising. I wanted to do it for Jessica and failed. She throws me a “good try“ before stepping up herself.
Jessica was a gymnast when she was younger, and the training appears to be paying off as she mounts the unstable rope ladder. (It also occurs to me that the view I currently have is one the paparazzi would kill for.) She deploys a disciplined crawl, gets tantalizingly close to the red button, reaches for it—and loses her balance, flips over, and lands flat on the cushion, laughing. “Holy shit,“ she yells. “It’s so hard. That’s so frustrating.“ The carny asks if we’d like to try again. She pauses for a moment, looking at the button, and then, with obvious reservations, demurs. “You were really, really close,“ I tell her. “I know,“ she says, still staring at it, reluctant to move, apparently, without conquering the damn thing. “That’s how it gets you.“
Next up is something called the Hi-Striker, a game in which you swing a mallet to test your strength. I take three feeble swings, each one less successful than the last. A huge Hispanic man laughs every time I bring the mallet down on the metal block, and when I exit the cage and hand it off to the female attendant, she takes one exhibition swing and makes my emasculation complete. Up goes the projectile. Ping goes the bell.
J.B. watches, rapt. “Look at her awesome stance,“ she whispers, absorbing the details, memorizing the motion. Some actors “find“ their characters via a process of internalization—investigating emotions, plumbing psychology, creating an “inner life.“ This is known as the inside-out approach. Other actors work outside-in—developing a walk, a gesture, a physicality. Look at, say, Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby. Look at Jessica Biel in the Hi-Striker cage.
Mimicking the attendant’s, her first swing easily skunks my best effort. And she improves with each attempt. She’s getting into character. As she exits the cage, there’s a look of satisfaction on her face. She returns the mallet to the attendant, who looks at me and says: “She did better than you.“ As we leave, I ask her: “Is it more technique than strength?“ She shakes her head. “Brute strength,“ she says. “You just throw it up and slam it as hard as you can.“ On our way off the pier, we pass Zoltar, the animatronic fortune-teller who turned that kid into Tom Hanks in Big. Zoltar senses us and speaks: “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved.“ Zoltar makes Jessica smile. She digs his philosophy.
Jessica Biel’s destiny, at least of late, has led her to a prominent place in the trashy supermarket gossip rags. First it was snapshots of social excursions with second-banana studs (Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds). Then, upping the ante, there was a beach fling with a sports icon (Derek Jeter). And then, in February, she grabbed the tabloid brass ring for reportedly nabbing the world’s most eligible bachelor, Justin Timberlake. Unsurprisingly, it’s not something she’ll discuss.
One thing she is happy talking about, though, is the unladylike girth of her knuckles. We’re getting dinner at an unassuming Italian trattoria across the street from the pier when she flashes those meaty joints and describes her nascent production company. “It was almost called Fat Knuckle Films. Because I have fat knuckles. See?“ she asks. “They don’t really look that way until you start putting rings on them, and then it stops right there.“
I have to say, Jessica Biel’s chunky midfingers are endearing, human, attainable—a word she uses a number of times in our conversation, as if to remind the world that she’s just a regular girl from Boulder, Colorado, who happens to have been called, by Esquire magazine in 2005, the Sexiest Woman Alive.
“At first I felt really embarrassed about it,“ she says. “You know, it’s a weird thing to talk about. Like, ‘Hey, guys. Guess what?’ You don’t just go telling everybody that.“ She shifts her weight forward and goes on: “But after I got over that, I just started to embrace it. I started thinking, If I ever do have kids, and if they have kids, I can tell them: ‘You know what? Your grandma in 2000-and-whatever was the Sexiest Woman Alive. How about that, kids?’ That’s what I started to think about. I’ll always have that picture to say, ‘That’s what Granny used to look like.’ “
Before coming out here to get my ass handed to me at the Hi-Striker, I immersed myself in Jessica Biel’s Collected Works. She got her start in the mid-’90s on 7th Heaven, the WB dramedy that made a splash with the moral-values set, before leaving around 2002 for bigger (and badder) things. It’s been a grim scene ever since: Summer Catch (2001), which starred Freddie Prinze Jr. and stands at number forty-nine on Rotten Tomatoes’ 100 Worst- Reviewed Films of All Time. The Rules of Attraction (2002), notable only for Fred Savage shooting heroin between his toes and saying things like “I can feel my dick.“ (Remarkably, Biel comes across as fresh and charming, despite the astonishing pointlessness and nihilism of the flick.) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), which was Biel’s first top billing and is her biggest box-office performer to date, with a take of about $80 million. J.B. screams her head off throughout the movie and is entirely believable in distress, but you can’t help thinking as you watch her, There’s got to be better material than this. Sadly, no. There was an atrocity called Cellular, in 2004, and Blade: Trinity that same year (in which Biel kicks much undead ass as a midriff-baring vampire hunter). But the nadir has to be London, in ’06, a delusional piece of trash that starts off with a sex scene, Biel on top, saying, “Are you coming? Are you coming?“ before she proceeds to another not-quite-dignified act and then dips out of the frame to, presumably, swallow. Like I said, a grim scene.
And then, just in the nick of time, salvation arrived. A script called The Illusionist, to star Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. There was a problem, though. The filmmakers didn’t want to give Biel an audition. They weren’t convinced the vampire-hunting Hollywood creation could rearrange herself into the role of a refined fin de siècle Hungarian duchess.
But Jessica Biel has a hard time taking no for an answer. And when another actress “dropped out“ of the film, her tenacity paid off. They finally brought her in. She arrived wearing a full period costume. She made them take her seriously, she says, and three days later, an offer arrived.
The Illusionist wasn’t what you’d call a “hit,“ but it got good reviews, made decent money, and changed the industry’s perception of her. Doors that were closed began to open. They just weren’t opening fast enough for her taste.
She sets down her after-dinner tea and says, “I want choices. I want options. I want to lay out all the directions I could go and have the ability to choose. I’m slowly starting to have that now.“ It’s the “slowly“ that kills her.
One film that will almost surely expedite the process is I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, which will be released this month. It stars Adam Sandler and Kevin James as two Brooklyn firefighters who pretend to be a gay couple in order to receive domestic-partner benefits. J.B. plays the female lead, their hoodwinked attorney who falls for Sandler by the end of the picture.
Chuck and Larry is Jessica’s first real shot at popular, mainstream film success. Unlike her previous big-budget endeavors, it doesn’t rely on CGI or fetishistic weaponry to make its points. It is also—apologies to Freddie Prinze Jr. —her first comedy.
“It was a little bit intimidating,“ she says. “I really admire Adam and Kevin, but then, I didn’t try to equal them or one-up them, and the character I created didn’t have to be that. She’s the straight woman, but very fun and very cool and just—attainable. That’s the kind of part that I’d like to play more. I mean, a vampire hunter? Is that really attainable? I’d just like to play something a little more quirky, interesting, outrageous. And uninhibited.“
“You’re not worried that she can do comedy,“ the movie’s director, Dennis Dugan, tells me. “You can tell she can do comedy. So we just met her and cast her. I really think she can have one of those diverse, Oscar-winning careers. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no horizon to her talent.“
The sun has gone down, and we’re standing on the sidewalk in front of the Italian joint, across from the pier. I’m holding a small stuffed Spider-Man doll that Jessica won as a prize back at the amusement park and which she’s given to me to give to my son. I ask what she’s doing tonight, and she says she’s playing chaperone to a girlfriend on a first date. “Basically, I’m her wingman tonight,“ she says. “I’ll probably slip away if it’s rolling along well.“
She graciously agrees to a photograph with me, which I would include except for two reasons: (1) I don’t want to make Justin Timberlake jealous, and (2) you never quite understand how unattractive you are until you see yourself in a picture with Jessica Biel.
I watch her as she walks toward the pier. I know it’s where her car is parked, but I have this image of her heading straight back to the Pier Plank Plunge. The carny won’t know who she is, nobody on the pier will recognize her, and she’ll just hand over her fiver and go at it. That red button, almost within her reach. Attainable.

HOW I THINK GAMING WITH TXT WOULD BE LIKE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
authors note! —this was my first ever request!! i apologise for the inaccuracies of my gaming knowledge I've never played a game except for exclusively beginner version of solitaire or those old nokia snake mobile games.
Tumblr media
YEONJUN
it's actually quite enjoyable
will talk hella smack before yall like get your hands on the controller
swears he's pro
p.r.o, he actually spells it out
I don't think he understands some rules either
nevertheless
he's actually good until he gets too fancy with his moves to show off
and then keeps on dying a few hundred times
and then he's quiet like yo iMMA focus
"imma set the money where the mouth is at"
still keeps losing the more he focuses
which is EXACTLY why it's worth playing with him.
man just hilarious to look at while he's getting his ass getting handed back to him
I'm not saying he's a sore loser but like maybe, like just a few dozen times, he will put in casual conversations that, he wasn't in particular flow that day so you should play with him again
rinse and repeat
if he wins, he's gonna use that against you for like half a year
SOOBIN
1/2 worst person to play with
catch me jack hammering a rusted nail into my feet rather than playing with him
THIS MAN is like so fucking smug
but like he gets to gloat bc HES GOOD AT GAMES
and that's the problem, is that that he's way too good and I hate that
like lose sometimes for new flavor maybe?
what's even worse is that he's like actually talented at games, like crazy
just go play for the country then mf
lifeless loser
and what's worse is that he'd be like so casual about it
like oh yeah I beat your ass 200 times, I guess I got lucky, I'm just such a natural.
but like in games
"biTCH QUIT WHINING ABOUT KILL STEALS. TRY TO STOP ME IF YOU CAN U CXNT ABHAHAAB"
I'm telling u he's shady
he gives off that one student in class whose like oh i didn't study for shit and ends up getting 98 percent.
play with him, but never against him.
BEOMGYU
2/2 worst person to play with
runs his mouth more than than the fingers on his console
tries to gaslight you into giving up items for him or not kill him
not really a honorable move but sometimes it works so I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to survive
talks smack but like the type to drag your mother into it but if you do it back he will cry
the console smasher
will blame anything and everything
"IT'S NOT Fault I PRESSED THIS BUTTON WHY DIDNT IT WORK?!"
his luck is the worst like man will be trying his hardest and then get jumped by someone for fun
excels in those sniper games tho
might actually get into debts to buy items so keep an eye out for it
is also a sore loser but unlike yeonjun he won't coax you into playing another game with you
more like bully the fuck out of you to get into another game with him until he beats you
you can't even escape him by pretending to lose
he's got hawk eye
like suddenly developed a conscience
this man's evolution is questionable
good luck to you
TAEHYUN
best option tbh
like I see no (apparent) red flags
but I don't think he's that into gaming a lot so you'd have to drag him into it.
I don't think he understands the rules either but unlike yeonjun he's more discreet about it because he doesn't wanna get bullied
improvise, improve, eliminate
im sure it didn't make sense but literally ends up learning about the game as he goes and he actually gets good at it
like slightly, but it's the effort that counts
"so which team am I on?"
"taehyun you died."

if provoked enough , he will track your ip address down and doxx you.
HUENING KAI
It will be a fun time for sure

he's so cute so it's always such a good time with him
"I will report you if you talk about shoving someone's bead into a horse's backside again tho, animals have the right too! what if the horses don't like pegging?"
doesn't give you a headache like the rest of them except for a few bald stops you get by ripping your own hair while stopping him from blind siding you
bombastic side eye for the amount of times he tried to go behind your back tho
he's actually a good player to have on your team tho

Chapter 03
It was the end of summer, the school holiday just ended and we were back to start a new year.
A tiny little school in a village near Fukuoka. Only about twenty kids filled the school from various ages and classes.
The school had a big playground at the front with a big sandbox, some things to climb on, and a little forest space. The building was small and only had three classrooms.
Currently, there was a break and everyone was playing outside. Twenty young children playing around while one teacher watched to make sure everyone was safe. It was clear that there was a lack of mutant children, only one.
Near the forest was a group of three children playing rescue. With a princess, a monster, and All-might.
"Oh no! Please help me" a girl with red hair says while striking a dramatic pose. Clutching over her chest and making her voice sound like a tragic damsel in distress.
"Do not fear for I am here!" The boy with the purple ears said, jumping up behind a bush, while doing the All-Might pose. Making sure to look as high and mighty as possible.
"I will not let you save her All-might," I say with a growling voice, a smile on my lips exposing my white canines and wings a little flared out to make me bigger. "For I am the great bird and I will eat yo-... This isn't fun, why am I always the monster?" I lisped while puffing my cheeks.
"Because you have those teeth! And wings!" The purple-eared kid said, pointing to the parts he mentioned. "You from everyone here look the most like a monster"
"Well... You have purple ears, so why not you?" I argued back, stomping my foot
"Because I am the only boy here and I wanna play All-might!"
"Then I don't wanna play anymore" I crossed my arms and stomped away from the other kids. I sit down in a corner and start drawing in the dirt with my already dirty talons. I chirped happily before the bell rang and it was time to head back to the classroom.
With jumpy steps I walk inside, a big grin on my face. Happily showing everyone my newly grown canine teeth, sharp and shiny.
A big crowd surrounded my table, giggling. I blinked confused before stepping inside, everyone staring at me with expressions I couldn't quite place.
A few people stepped aside and what I saw placed on the table made my tummy feel weird.
A bloody dead bird.
I halted in front of my table feeling a shock wave creeping up my back. Heart hammering in my chest like never before.
I heard my classmates snickering and whispering until someone said to me, in the most arrogant and hurtful voice I ever heard someone talk "We thought the mutant wanted a little snack, Hawks eat their prey raw, right? Now you have the perfect teeth for that"
My heart was hammering uncomfortably in my chest and my body started to get stiffer the longer I looked at the bird. My ears deafened the surrounding sounds of my classmates, sounding like too many songs smashed together.
Only the voice of my teacher was able to bring me back to reality. I looked up at him, seeing no pity in his eyes at the cruel, cruel thing my so-called friends did.
"Can you bring the bird outside? How about you make him a grave?" My teacher asked, squatting down.
I nodded with teary eyes and gently took the small body of the bird in my warm, dirty hands. Leaving the classroom. It felt so tiny in my hands, yet it was still so warm.
Behind the school, I buried a small hole, holding the bird in one hand.
With the bird in my hands, I stared down. My heart was pounding in my ears and I could feel something build up inside of me. Cold sweat ran down my spine.
My mouth was standing slightly open, saliva falling down on the ground and the bird. My eyes were wide open and my breathing was wet and heavy. I had never felt so much water forming in my mouth before.
Without being able to control an instinct that was so implemented in my brain that it was starting to hurt I bit down. Eating the poor bird that was a victim of my classmate's cruelty and my own. It tasted like chicken.
Monster
-------------------------------------------------------
"You look tired"
"I am"
"Why?"
"Had a fight with my boyfriend, wasn't able to sleep after that"
"Trouble in paradise?" He cooed clearly to rile me up.
"Who said anything about paradise?" I said as I lay my head down on the table.
"Is he an asshole?"
"Who cares..." I mumble before bringing my head up again and combing my long hair out of my face. Not denying his implication.
"Wait seriously now? Oh wow- and you said I had relationship problems"
Perhaps he was right. Why should I of all people judge his broken marriage with my broken relationship? This was too hypocritical to call smart. I am was just a stupid woman, with a stupid boyfriend, with a stupid job, with stupid patients-
"Are you crying?" He asked looking at me with a face I wasn't able to see properly because the tears blurred my vision.
"no" I sniffed, wiping the tears away from my face that continued traveling down. The voice was so small I wasn't even sure if he heard me
"Nonononono don't cry," he said in a calm voice
"I can't stop," I said between broken sobs, burying my face in my hands.
I didn't see how overwhelmed Shinyo was with the whole situation. He looked frantically around the room, trying to find anything to calm me down or maybe a way to escape to make me stop in a not so nice way.
"Hey uhm.... Did I ever tell you about the time I lived on a ship?" He started leaning his head down a little to get a better look at my burried face.
"W-what?"
"Aye, when I was a little smaller and more stupid than I am now. I worked for a big guy called Harima along with my brother"
Harima?
"Brother?"
"He isn't anymore"
"Oh.... I'm sorry..."
"Don't be, he made his choice"
Again I wiped a few of my tears away. Taking a deep breath.
"I never had any siblings"
"No shit Sherlock," he said in a flat tone.
I laughed a little bit "Well yeah... My parents always wanted another child... Or perhaps a lot more than just one but they both have deficiencies that prevent them from ever getting one... I was practically a miracle that happened to them..."
"Be thankful, siblings are the worst"
"I trust that. Besides mutant siblings can be the worst"
He looked at me confused, opening his mouth to say something probably stupid to that.
"I am also a mutant, Hawks as well funny enough" I chuckle but he still looked unconvinced. "I am not so proud like you about being one, life can be... Cruel I suppose"
"I.. uh... Where are your...?" He asked looking behind me. Searching for something invisible.
"Birth defect, I can only grow them back again because of my quirk, not for long though otherwise I get too tired, takes a lot of energy"
"Sucks probably"
"I can manage"
The cell room fell quiet for bit, an awkward silence one where even I wasn't able to think of a good silence breaker.
"Can I see them?" He asked looking interested like never before. Like a child who really wanted to eat ice cream from a truck that just stopped.
"They are pretty boring, no fancy colour like you"
"I don't fucking care, just show me"
I sighed before standing up from my chair. Taking off the white coat, luckily my shirt had a free back, which in itself was pretty common for my wardrobe.
I concentrated for a moment, feeling warmth creeping up my back. Slowly my wings started growing back, a feeling like a wound that closed but started itching out of nowhere and feeling the need to tear it open again only for it to be even more itchy.
Brown feathers started to regrow and once nothing grew anymore I opened my eyes that I closed for concentration.
"Happy?"
"Aye... They are pretty, just so you know"
"Oh. Thanks..." I rubbed my arm lightly before shaking my body, stopping my quirk. Bit by bit my feathers started falling onto the ground.
"Does it hurt?" He asked while following the path of each feather that was falling.
"Maybe a little bit, but I don't know" I yawned. Rubbing my sleepy eyes before sitting back down on my chair.
It was silent, in an ear-deafening way. Only his heartbeat was still going too fast for it to be normal. Still gives me the creeps, how can one be so calm on the outside but heartbeat faster than a racecar.
The silence was imterrupted by a knock from the outside. I groaned annoyed before standing up and opening the door. A man I had never seen before was standing with a coffee in front of me. He smiled before extending the coffee to me.
His heartbeat went even higher....
"My name is Imawashi, I used to work here and I wanted to thank you a little bit for the great work you are doing" He lied. I just had this feeling he was lying straight to my face.
"Thanks but I don't drink coffee, it's not good for your skin"
"Oh... Uhm..." He was startled, looking at the cup of coffee and then back at me.
"I also hate to be interrupted, my time is precious, so bye-bye" I slammed the door shut before locking it again.
"Some people" I rolled my eyes, turning around. Eyes fall directly on Shinyo who is breathing like he just ran for ten miles or something.
I silently ran over to him, keeping a small distance.
"Shinyo? Shinyo look at me if you can"
"What!?" He grunted but didn't look up.
"I don't mean to be rude but you look like you get into a stress grip if your heart rate doesn't calm down at least a little bit," I said with a gentle voice. Keeping my hands up for him to see I wasn't planning on touching him.
"I need yo-"
"Fuck you! Just leave-"
"I need you to breathe with me, slow and focused" I explained while not trying to be overpowered by his fear. Even though his panic made me in turn panic too.
I started breathing in a slow rhythm for him to easily hear and follow. It took a while before he started to follow my instructions.
"It's not working," he said with a tense voice and a shaking body.
Of course, it doesn't work after three breaths. But I needed to come up with a new solution that got his brain off everything. Only one thing came to mind.
"Do you know the story about Sun Wukong?"
He looks at me with confused eyes and a face that could be read as 'Are you serious?'.
"He is the king of monkeys born from a stone egg. It is said it was fertilized by the wind, the smell of the earth, the power of the sun, and the gracefulness of the moon." I moved closer again, to take off most of his chains. His rigid body fell down on the ground, but I caught him and went down with him. Pulling him closer to me and gently stroking his hair. His hands dug uncomfortably into my arms. I could feel something slowly breaking.
"Sun Wukong was a master at fighting and jumping very, very high he was able to change into 72 different forms, a really powerful being"
Shinyos head was resting against my chest, his eyes were wide open and his breath was wet. His entire body was working against him, shaking yet unable to move a muscle. Nature can be a cruel thing.
"But one day he wanted to have more. He wanted to be this invincible force, a king, a god even. He managed to conquer the sky and become a god to the other gods' dismay. Only one day he was punished by Buddha and locked under a mountain"
"D-did he escape?" Shinyo asked with the most pitiful tone I have ever heard him speak. But the question wasn't of interest in the story, I had the feeling he saw himself in the hopeful escape.
His body started to relax again.
"Maybe one day," I said, gently stroking his hair. We continued to stay in this quite awkward position before his hands on my arms and his muscles completely calmed down. Leaving a row of big gaping wounds where his talons left holes in my arms, exposing a fractured bone.
When he was able to register what his stress grip caused he wanted to apologize, so much I could read in his eyes. For someone who doesn't care he seemed to care a lot.
"It's fine, I can just heal it" I reassured before scooting a little bit away from him "It wasn't your fault, to begin with"
"It was a shitty story..." He laughed, head still resting on me, I felt too bad neglecting him now.
"My father always told me stories when I got too overwhelmed, which helps with keeping your mind off the panic. Just like counting, breathing, or anything you could do"
"You? Overwhelmed? Thought you ate confidence and no wrongdoings for breakfast"
"I know I can be arrogant, but that doesn't mean I am a complete bitch. I have struggles like everyone else, and so do you"
"I'm perfectly fine"
"Sure, and I am the jade king"
"Do you wanna ta-"
"No" and after that he and I fell silent again.
-------------------------------------------------------
"Let me get this straight... You poisoned the tea that you gave to a child and Shinyo?" I could feel my eye twitching from just the blatant stupidity of this woman in front of me "Why again would you give your own son poison?"
"Shinyo gave it to him" Her eyes were dull and her voice was monotone, like a soulless puppet.
"But you didn't stop him, correct?"
"It wouldn't have worked otherwise, he would have become suspicious"
"I-" trying to find the right words for a situation like this surely took a toll on my patience. Even dealing with Shinyos constant belittlement in prison was more manageable than this.
The eyes of the flame hero bore holes into my back while I was trying not to lose my mind over this woman.
The conversation made my blood boil in a way I hadn't expected. Not only did she have an arguably cute and intelligent little kid, no, but she couldn't have cared less about him.
Takami Nitsuki was officially one of my most hated people in the world... Right after my most hated person.
"Alright... The government wants you to sign papers to give Keigo into the care of us, you can Of course decline if you wish to take care of him instead" I laid the paper forms down in front of her, along with a heavy metal pen. This procedure was giving me the biggest icks I had ever felt.
The worst part was that she actually signed them. No questions, no blinking. She took the pen and slowly gave her signature on the boxes.
I didn't share another word with her after that.
Standing out in the cold with my coat closed I stared holes into the ground, like Endeavor did with my poor back earlier. Only to abnormally large feet that were part of an abnormally large human that was a living heater.
"What is it?" I asked annoyed. Squinting my eyes shut as I exhale.
"Takami and I made a deal"
"So?"
"I need you on this mission, if he doesn't -"
"Don't you think it is strange how much she didn't care?"
"Don't cha-"
"I mean come on, who doesn't care at least a tiny bit about their child? Have you seen the poor kid? He was way too tiny for his age, not to mention malnourished and left behind, why doesn't she get any punishment for this?!" I pace around with a heavy step. Grabbing my hair as I let out my frustration on Endeavour.
"It's not our problem."
"You have kids too! Don't you care the tiniest bit?"
"And you don't so why do you care?" His voice was as rough as ever.
"I... Because I have another type of connection when it comes to family, especially because you know" I gestured all over me. "Is it normal for nonmutants to not care? Both my parents would have done anything to keep me"

Rosamunde Cousland - DAO again 4 years later
CW: Mentions of IRL parent death.
Dragon Age Origins was the thing that I sank into during 2020 while the world was much slower for all of us. While there were terrible things happening in the world and in my own life, the fact that I was able to simply just be for a lot of the time was cathartic to me on an imaginative and creative level. The Alistair/Morrigan fic I wrote during that time remains one of my favorite fics I have ever completed and one of the only chapter fics I've ever completed. I also wrote several other one-shots for the fandom.
I was really into Dragon Age 2 as well, but then my mother took a turn for the worse, and my headspace constricted to a point that I didn't have much time or emotional energy for playing anymore. And, on a lighter note, I found the rivalry prospects in DA2 a little more intimidating, though I even made myself a little guide to deal with it on Google Sheets, back during the time I didn't have a job to take all of my problem-solving energy and then some.
Knowing that Veilguard was coming (though I still wish it had been called Dread Wolf, lol, but what even is theming, BioWare), I wanted to get back into Dragon Age. I knew it had been such a long time that if I wanted a sense of my world state that I needed to play DAO again.
One thing I think I might like a little more about Dragon Age 2 as opposed to DAO is that Hawke is a little bit more solid as a character. While you choose a "voice" for your character in DAO, it has very limited use cases, and a lot of the time the voice choices are really just a matter of choosing the least cringe option. For example, I end up choosing the aggressive voice for the Female Cousland character that is to be Rosamunde for me, but the actual lines almost never fit her. I just pick that voice because it's the least objectionable to me. Hawke, on the other hand, follows the BioWare logic of red/purple/blue personality and class where they're different flavors of a basic character you can choose.
I really struggle with whole-cloth OC generation. I'm very attached to the other characters, but I kept floundering a little bit with my Warden, especially when I tried to write her. One of the best things I can do when writing is to capture a character's voice, and it's really hard to do when I am tasked with imagining around the limited voicing and dialogue options provided by DAO for the Warden, as a product of its time.
I had a vague idea of who and what my Warden was four years ago, but having played her again and with a bit more perspective, I think I have a slightly better grasp of her now. I think grounding her to certain touch stones in other media has helped without completely attaching her to a reinterpretation of an extant fictional character.
Way back then, I fancasted her as Adelaide Kane, but I haven't ever watched the period piece or anything much the actress has been in. It was more just a visual vibe upon which to base her.
Tumblr media
I can't remember if I found the actress before or after I made my original Rosamunde model in the game.
Tumblr media
The above is what she looked like back in the DLC the first time I played.
Now, I've come full circle and am back to beginning of playing awakening, and here's a screenshot of what she looks like now:
Tumblr media
She feels much more organic now. Fits the game better.
As I was playing this time, I tried to imagine, at times, how I would intone or rewrite the dialogue choices to fit how I view her as a character.
This time around, I found myself thinking about Rose Tyler, particularly if she'd grown up to be a noblewoman as she fantasized about. It was never on purpose, but I really just needed somewhere to ground my thinking in how she might think about things, and I think there's... some thread there that I am pulling on as I try to help myself feel like my Warden is even half as developed as some of the rest of you guys can make yours.
Tumblr media
I'm not quite sure what the vibe is that I'm picking up on here after all this time. I guess it's just a combination of:
A sense of justice while also being willing to be a bit ruthless. Good not being nice always.
Despite the fact that Rosamunde is a Cousland, a noble, and she takes that aspect of her life and role seriously -- that she has a responsibility to people -- her mama was a pirate, so I guess there's supposed to be a mix of a potential for street smarts mixed with a youthful naivete of never having really tested what she's been prepared for prior to Howe murdering her family.

Yandere MHA (Part One?)
Here I am again, back on my shit for y'all to gander at. And this time, it's if the characters in MHA were Yanderes (specifically what kinds they would be and how much they could hide it to appear 'normal').
First up is Hawks - the Pro Hero Assassin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Hawks is a natural optimist, plus with his past I can see him not falling in love so easily. He is also a natural flirt, though that's mostly because of his job as a hero (gotta make the public happy and content after all). So he's definitely not a fool, he may be naive in some ways but he can pick up on things very quickly and often plays dumb to fool those around him for his benefit (both heroes and villains).
For him to genuinely fall in love, it'd take a LOT of work - you'd basically have to get under his skin somehow, get past all his defenses and make him see your worth as a person beyond being a civilian (or just another Pro Hero or villain he's interacting with). And he would already figure you were doing this to get his attention, but being the good guy he is that still won't stop him from helping you if you end up in danger around him. But once you get to that point where it clicks, be prepared for what comes next because you just got ALL of his attention.
He'd be the most 'normal' yandere you'd ever meet, if anything he would appear entirely like his normal self to most because he knows how to hide his thoughts and feelings quite well. But he'd do little things to keep you safe, after all you were the first one he's ever felt this way with in his entire life and with him being a hero he knows the world can be quite dangerous. And it'd be just the occasional red feather that you so happen to find in your bag or pocket, or the moments where he's suddenly walking by 'on patrol' where you just so happen to be at the same time. And he'd play it off, that same optimism shining through like usual. But in truth, he's very much stalking you - it may not be direct, but he doesn't need to be there 24/7 to know if you're safe or not. In fact, him leaving a feather or two behind is part of his entire plan (as his feathers can sense everything around it and he'd use it as a tracker on you without anyone knowing). And the less you know, the better things will be for the both of you.
But if you ever do get hurt? That's when Hawks shows just how obsessed he is with you. Sure, normally he wouldn't just go after a specific villain/hero for seemingly no reason. And he wouldn't make it obvious that he's planning anything. But once he gets a little one-on-one with whomever hurt you, all bets are off. What he did to Twice was just child's play, he will become a stone-cold murdering villain if it means that whomever harms you will no longer have the ability to do so.
And the best part? He's already an assassin, he works for the Hero's Commission and can just say that the hero was 'becoming a villain' to excuse his actions. Or just blame some actual rando villain for the murder - he may even 'blame' you, just so he can be given the mission to stalk/watch you and have no one be the wiser to his plans. But he's never use it against you, after all he's doing it all to protect you from the world. You are the only one he's ever felt like with this, and it's in his nature to protect what he cherishes most.
If you ever find out he is a yandere, he wouldn't even be mad about it. If anything, he'd be worried that he may have gone a bit too far with his obsession and worries you'll leave him (but also saying he understands because he knows he's been acting like a 'villain' lately). But if you accept his protective nature, for the most part he'll be 'normal' so long as you stay safe and happy. Just don't put yourself in the actual way of danger, or you'll drive him insane.

3. How did Hawke feel about Lothering? Did they like their home?
Considering how before that she was literally sleeping on dirt or hay or with chickens depending on where Malcolm found shelter, Lothering was like. a fucking paradise LOL. She had a nice life there, even if they were still pretty poor. The other villagers liked her and her family, and she was fairly popular with people her own age. Maybe too popular actually. Carver used to complain about how all his friends just hung around with him to get close to her.
7. Who did Hawke join - the mercenaries or the smugglers? Is there a particular reason for it?
She joined up with the Red Iron. I have two reasons for this actually; in character, killing and intimidating people is second nature to Esther at this point and that's a skill she knows she can capitalize on. She already has the experience of a soldier, she doesn't need to be trained on how to follow orders or get used to the brutality of violence, and Meeran already agreed to keep Bethany out of the thick of it while Esther did all the work, so it was a pretty straightforward choice.
On the meta side, though. lol. Did you know Malcolm was a mercenary. lol. Something something apples and trees.
9. What are their thoughts on Flemeth?
well that was weird. glad we never have to think about that mildly foreboding encounter ever again. i'm sure there won't be any crazy plot developments relating to what she just said to me.
33. How is Hawke's relationship with their love interest after 3 years?
Honeymoon phase amped up to 11. They were fucking disgusting together LOL. That sweet spot of peace between Act 2 and 3 was probably the happiest moment of either of their lives. Anders' briefly let go of the Mage Underground to focus on their relationship and being a good partner, while Esther had begun to soften up from the burden of being the family's sole provider and was allowed to just be happy and in love. This was the part of their relationship where they would surprise each other with little dates and gifts, spend entire days holed up in their room and sending everyone else away, and have long conversations about the future and how they imagined their lives playing out together. There was so much hope for them; they really, really believed they were finally going to be allowed to have a happy ending.
36. How does Hawke feel about Anders behaviour (in regards to him being secretive about the 'potion') in act 3? Are they suspicious of him or are they understanding?
This is going to haunt her for the rest of her life bro. Not because of what he did but because of how actually fucking pathetic she was during it. Anders is like heyy babe. i need you to collect some shit and piss for me. for a potion. that i am going to drink. don't worry about it. And the whole time Esther's like 🥴 Okayyyy.... this is giving me the most unsettling vibes i've ever felt... but if you're asking me to support you...
I think she was just. waiting for him to explain himself or tell her what was actually going on or anything. Like obviously the potion story was the most insane fucking lie anyone has ever told in the history of Thedas, so she was expecting him to eventually just open up and tell her what was really happening. That conversation never comes though. And she's starting to get more and more uneasy about his behavior, and suddenly he's telling her to go to the Chantry and distract the Grand Cleric for him and that's when she's finally like okay what the fuck is going on with you.

Post Veilguard Thoughts
Tumblr media
I've been trying to figure out my thoughts and feelings on Veilguard over the past few days.
I know I did food metaphor for it before but this is a way to explain it as a longtime fan.
Like going to a restaurant that looks kinda jank in its decor, or its in like in a random plaza but the FOOD there is good shit so you can forgive the janky decor but also it gives it charm bc feels just a little more authentic that way. Thats my memory of the old dragon ages.
Veilguard is more like a chain restaurant. Example would be like Red Lobster, food is okay. I gorge myself on the biscuits bc im weak to those. But it still has the veneer of a chain realm that you can't escape.
Gonna try to break down my thoughts on each layer of this lasagna.
Gameplay
The gameplay is honestly good.
Its engaging. I like the different ways you can build a rook. I did a duelist rogue I never parried once but still blazed my way through. The fact you can do more of a bow heavy or trap heavy rogue is very cool to me. I do look forward to playing again as a mage to see how that is. I don't really play many AAA games so the overall destiny/mass effect fusion of combat wasn't like stale to me.
I liked the different ways you can really build into something with the different gear you get. I went FULL necrotic weapons and just stacked everything that gave a bonus to necrotic damage and I was mowing through enemies.
It was a pain for me trying to mess with the settings bc I had a lot of performance issues and my motion sickness got in the way. Like I would have enemies pop in when I've been running laps around the arena. I should tinker with it a bit more next time around I know but a lot of the time trying to turn things down for performance made it worse.
The WORST of it was the game having some enemies be basically invulnerable because a dialogue commenting on the enemies' presence didn't trigger BECAUSE THEY WERENT THERE YET.
Also trying to quit and reset the game when these issues occur had the risk of me coming back fucking bald and without my tattoos or makeup.....
Tumblr media
I curse Fen'harel. I curse Solas. How dare you do this to me.
This is the best gameplay a Dragon Age has had tho.
Story
Main Story is serviceable. Because I AM a long time fan and have played the earlier games, I cannot separate myself from those memories to think of the perspective of a newcomer to the series. I know where the fangs should be. I see where edges have been sanded down and I will oft fixate on that. (In this way, I understand Solas)
The game doesn't really let you be truly evil or callous to your party. Sure I wouldn't pick the evil option because I want to be nice to my video game friends but to HAVE THE OPTION makes the choice to be nice to them feel like more of a choice.
Like in dragon age 2, like half of your party could just fuck off or you could fuck them over. You had the option to sell Fenris back into slavery. Isabela could just fuck off with the precious artifact because shes a fucking pirate, so seeing her COME BACK because of her friendship with my Hawke had extra meaning to me like my efforts to befriend her meant something.
You fight the evil Bad Guys.
Your Rook will p much always be The Hero.
Where my memories and history interfere with the story is how I remember that decisions and choices you made in past games were more of a mixed bag. You weren't as unambiguously Good.
When I tried to meet the game halfway and be like 'yea sure my Rook WILL be a good guy hero about it' it wasn't as grating. But I still had to like mentally buy in like that.
It needed a lot more time to actually write and put in those other options imho. In this way I call it an underbaked lasagna.
Dialogue itself felt a bit flat in a lot of the time too.
I feel the game was really trying to appeal to a new audience and doesn't want to offend them. And it is worse for it.
Characters
The characters I feel are also victim of underwriting. Or having to be pulled in a lot of directions and not wanting to offend again.
There were a lot of distracting biscuits in the characters tho. And I ate them all up.
I will protect the skeleton with my life.
I only feel the characters are weak and awkward at points again because of my old memories.
Like a character is working through figuring out their gender and the language they use is VERY MODERN. Same for if you make Rook trans or non-binary (i did a non-binary elf). I love that the option is there I just wish the language around it was more rooted in Thedas and not earth.
There's great moments and banters with the characters and they all endeared themselves to me.
Some of their personal quests don't entirely mesh well to me, makes me think there were many rewrites.
Theres a lot of ways I can think about to like really give the characters more spice and flesh themselves out but I didn't get that in game.
The more I think about certain questlines the more angry I get about them. I hate thats the feeling I walk away with.
World / Factions
Also the reason I'm mad about the world is because I know where we came from. It's been hyped that Tevinter is like an Evil Mage Empire that will kidnap elves into slavery.
Why could I freely walk around as an Elf and not hear a single utterance of 'Knife-Ear'
Minrathous/Dock Town an instance of I can only see what was sanded down. Sure the things I've heard before was a lot of propaganda from rival countries but... idk another defanging.
I feel Tevinter/ITS CAPITAL OF MINRATHOUS should have had a lot more development because we p much only get the poor area. At least give a proper High Town?
But all the environments were distinctive and factions did have their own flavor.
And the factions each had their own biscuits I ate up.
If Veilguard is someone's introduction to Dragon Age I really want to hear about their perspective on the world.
I wish you were able to actually play through the little backstory they give you (like in origins) so when you meet up with them again its actually a reunion and you KNOW the choice you make rather than just some lines about it.
Another instance of underbaking the game.
Conclusion
I had a fun time with Veilguard. If you don't want to think TOO hard and have a fun romp with Dragon Age characters its enjoyable.
A lot of my issues with the game is how sanded down itself from past games in order to not offend newcomers.
like 7/10 its okay its serviceable its very pretty and fun playing just really dont think too hard (or throw yourself into fanfiction)

I’d love to hear about “dance in yellow” from your WIPs!
Love, thedastrash
Oh thank you!
Amazingly, this is an unpublished fic! See? I'm trying. I mean to finish it before publishing. Thanks, I hate it.
I'm on the forth chapter and it's a trope collection with Fenris x Anders, with
fake dating/bodyguard
enemies to lovers
heist and thievery
ballroom dancing
Zevran! being too sexy
Anders is a sexy BAMF, Fenris can't deal
hurt/comfort
"you touch him, you die"
and so on.
Have a taste:
"Why don't we ask him?" Zevran says and opens the door, revealing Fenris to the room. He hadn't even noticed that he stepped closer. If Fenris had any doubts about the man's skills as an assassin, he knows better now.
"Fenris, there you are." Hawke calls out, oblivious to his eavesdropping. Hawke is a force of nature, but awareness of his surroundings outside of a battlefield is not his strong suit. "Have some wine. Listen to this great plan, it's gonna be fun."
"Fun?" Fenris asks as he steps into the room.
"And lucrative," Isabela says, twirling her dagger. "Stealing from rich fucks is my favorite game."
"That sounds promising." Fenris fills a glass with red wine at the table and slowly turns to where Anders sits. His long legs stretch out from the stuffed chair and he seems to drown in his ridiculous coat, the feathers fluffing up to his ears.
Anders rolls his eyes. "Wait till you hear the plan. You'll change your mind."
"I was able to procure invitations for Lord Falange's extraordinary party, happening in [X] days." Zevran pulls two richly decorated cards from his vest and lets them flutter onto the table. "It's the event of the year, and the rich asshole density is unparalleled."
"And while we're at it, we'll procure —" Hawke is clearly proud of this new word he learned from Zevran "— some highly sensitive documents to shut down a slavery operation Lord Falange keeps on the side."
Fenris takes a long sip of his wine, savoring the taste before he swallows. "An extra incentive, I'd say."
Hawke takes Isabela's hand and pretends to place a kiss on it. "I'll be a big shot merchant and Isabela will be my hot wife."
Isabela winks at Fenris. "The hottest."
"What do you need me for?" Fenris asks.
"You'll have to play my bodyguard," Anders says with a gravelly voice.
Fenris freezes. Not this. Not again. "No."
"There, I told you." Anders throws his hands up as he looks away, his hair falling in front of his face.
Fenris turns to Hawke to glare at him. "Why Anders' bodyguard, why not yours?"
"Because we need someone to get really close to Lord Fuck-his-face," Hawke says and gestures dramatically at Anders, "and this lord has a special taste for lanky, blond brats." He takes a step closer to Fenris, smiling at him. "It's only for show. You're not really his bodyguard. But we don't want Anders all alone with the guy, just in case."
"That does, in fact, make me a bodyguard."
The smile on Hawke' face brightens. "Just a little. You're more like backup, in case things go tits up."
It's impossible to deny Hawke anything when he puts on this soft smile. At least that's what Fenris tells himself when he glances at Anders and imagines being his bodyguard and cannot really find fault in that. "Alright. I'll do it."
"Wait, you're fine with this?" Anders gets up to step around him, searching his face. "Remember, you'll have to listen to me, do what I say, and actually be nice to me, at least for a bit."
Fenris holds Anders' gaze, ignoring the heat rising up his neck. "I am sure I can pretend for a while." It sounds harsher than he meant.
Zevran sidles up to them with a disarming smile. "An angry discussion between bodyguard and employer might even be a useful distraction at some point."
"I'm sure we can provide that, easily," Anders spits out.
He doesn't look Fenris in the eyes again, not for the whole rest of the evening. Fenris tries several times to catch his gaze but the mage never looks at him. He seems to be lost in thought, staring out of the window despite the darkness.

I was tagged by @shivunin to do this!! hehe this was very fun thank you 🫶🏽
Top to bottom: Amihan Amell (red), Sinag Hawke (teal), and Immy Lavellan (pink)
As I was doing this I thought Amihan would be the most unhinged but it's actually Sinag lol. I haven't unlocked (I am neglecting to post 😔) that lore yet. And I'm sure as I keep playing the game she'll unravel. She goes from being purple to red in her playthrough.
Immy's brand of unhinged isn't really on here djdjd but you can tell she's the fave child 🧍🏽‍♀️
tagging: @gaysebastianvael @vvakarians @tatert07s @feeshies (no pressure tho!)

Hiiii bestie <3 i would like to know 2 (can u believe i dont know this one for sure already??) 6, 8, 15 and 19 for that DAV ask game <3
okay fake me fan 🤨🤨
2. which dragon age game is your favourite so far?
its probably da2 at the moment... origins is my bestie forever and ever and ever but replaying da2 is just so fun. the combat is sexy (EXCEPT THE ARISHOK FIGHT AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MAGE) the story is sexy red hawke is sexy etc. while i don't think it's the best in terms of narrative (origins outsold forever, again) it IS the most fun for me to play again and again because the narrative still SLAPS and my favourite guys (merrill and fenris) are there
6. do you have your rooks planned out to some degree?
mf i am in your dms about this every day. yes and no. i have some vague concepts (veiljumpers i am in your walls) but i know myself and it does not matter how much i plan it out i will get in that character creator for the first time, black out and end up with whatever most speaks to me at the moment, and THEN i will be able to start thinking about rooks for the rest of my worldstate. i think worldstate codeword noble should have a human rook to keep the bit going. we'll see.
8. what faction are you most excited to learn more about?
VEILJUMPERS I AM IN YOUR WALLS !!! also as a d&d barbarian #stan i am making eyes at the lords of fortune but the veiljumpers are you KIDDING ME. i want to know everything there is to know about them yesterday <3
15. do you have any unpopular opinions about da:v so far?
uhhh well when the trailer dropped my unpopular opinion was that i actually like the more stylized art but i feel like public opinion on that has really swung around since the gameplay reveal? i have others but i also have self preservation and i simply do not want to be executed for [redacted] crimes so i will keep them to myself. but an actual unpopular opinion is i do not want to see fenris in that damn game no matter how hot he would be in the new style because i live in fear of someone actually making that fuckass david gaider "fenris would be team solas" tweet a reality. he would not fucking say that.
19. are you planning to replay any other games or read/watch any other material?
i have no solid plans lmao i go where the wind takes me... i might try and read tevinter nights before the game comes out since it seems pretty pertinent to the content and i like to Know things first hand but i am also gonna be pretty busy between now and a potential release so i make no promises.
thank you for the questions my littlest meow meow i love you <3
ask me questions about da:v

*dated september 2023*
i am here to post more things individual to me! this time, it's my top 25 video games. i am honestly not remotely content with this list and will update it around september of this year, and make it a tradition going forward. i never realized how hard it actually is to put this out on a chart/list. i always knew what i held dearly to my heart, but god when it came down to it, i had to REALLY think. imagining how this list will look by the end of this year is currently challenging. this chart is in no order besides grouping series. certain games will ALWAYS be on this list, most definitely the red dead series, and grand theft auto series. those are masterpieces, or damn near. red dead redemption ii is 100% the best game i've ever touched. the first redemption game i still highly regard to be one to stand the test of time. i have a fondness for fallout, there are many things to love, and things to not love, and that's all i'll say there for now. grand theft auto iv has one of the best stories i've played, and it's so played out but the VIBE of that game, the darkness, grittiness, it's great. san andreas is one of my childhood games, i owned so many copies because i was a stupid child. moving onto guitar hero, i still remember my first experience with it at my sister's, i remember getting my first copy of the game from fred's of all places. i mainly play clone hero nowadays, and am mostly average. i play expert, still have never got past that ttfaf intro. i got into wwe pretty early on in my life like most of these games, being able to watch the show weekly and hop in the games after school was special. cozy survival crafting is definitely one of my favorite things ever, and it's funny to call terraria cozy but it is to me LOL. i will never EVER understand terraria hate, how can you hate something so good? i have fallen out of love with minecraft over the years to the (in my opinion) underwhelming updates and odd direction the game has taken. with that however, the new auto-crafter and trial chambers look so sick. i want to say i got into stardew valley in 2018 and have loved it ever since, still haven't gotten through the beginning of ginger island though, maybe someday. ever since extremely late 2017 or early 2018, my main game has been fortnite: battle royale. at one point, i wanted to go pro and make a living streaming, but sadly i am NOT built for that. i've always loved zombies, first experience was probably like season 2-3 twd, and been hooked ever since. project zomboid was such an insane experience in february of last year. such an eye-opener. easily the best zombie game ever made. 7 days to die is also a great game, the impending doom you feel every week is fun and refreshing from what i normally play while still have that survival crafting i love. i grew up on tony hawk games and wasn't sure which ones to put but these were the standouts, and i didn't want to load the list up with a ton from one series. i remember spending all my savings as a kid on saints row: the third and i still wonder if that was a good decision or not. i have played tons of call of duty in my day, although i stopped at ghosts, and have dabbled in and out ever since. black ops is easily my favorite, the campaign, and multiplayer, agh. zombies even. modern warfare 2 is a classic and one i cannot ignore. ghost looks cool. i have played HELLA sims 3 in my lifetime, yes i have played the sims 4 and i can confidently say the sims 3 clears with ease. i dumped crazy hours into the console ports and the pc as well. around this final stretch of the list is where i really struggled so i went for nostalgia with atv off-road fury 2. that series and mx vs atv were definitely a blast to 10 and below me, and might even be today. i'm not quite sure. if anyone actually finishes this, i am sorry, for i am the rambler.

i have a lot of Thoughts about the chicago situation and im going to put them under the cut cause i know no one cares but i have no one to talk to so they're going here anyway
tw: sexual assault, r*pe, hazing ?
okay so like... what happened?? i watched that press conference (yay being unemployed, we love it here and we are NOT going insane) and i am now convinced that perry probably didnt have sex with bedards mom but actually did something really, really, very much so worse.
im not convinced nothing happened between perry and any bedard though. its such a specific rumor. and the gm and all these reporters being like iTS DISGUSTING TO EVEN SUGGEST- okay so where did it come from then?? can you show me the tweet from rangersfan420 who hates the hawks and started a rumor for fun?? can you find the source to PROVE its just a stupid internet lie?? i know its hard but if im chicago, im putting someone on it. if im a reporter (i know its a hard job, its a lot of work, etc but i have very little sympathy for most hockey reporters specifically because of, well- name any incident) im SCOURING the web for the source of that rumor to either ask how they know, or embed the link in my pay-wall blocked article for clicks!! you KNOW it would work, at least a few times. theyve had two days, has anyone even attempted this? (someone who's job it is, who's getting paid literally to either create news or to kill the rumor more effectively than whatever the hell the hawks are trying right now)
i might believe something sexual assult-y happened between perry and a player's family or player even except we KNOW for a FACT that the nhl and the hawks specifically do not care about that. they can "we're committed to change" all they want (clearly that's not working) but what motive would they have for kicking perry off the team? when has the NHL, or NHL fans (the loud, obnoxious majority, anyway) cared when a player has assaulted anyone?? we have seen sex crime after sex crime against women (and men!) committed by these players who are STILL PLAYING. no consequences enforced by their team, by the league, or by the media or fans (generally. there are good fans and there are some media outlets that care). so really, the hawks have no reason to kick perry off the team, or address the media, or make this into A Thing at all if that were the case. I know its hard to quash a rumor once it starts, but i honestly think if they had just been like "perry did *insert sex crime here* and thats bad, sooweee" people would be like BUT HES A GREAT PLAYER and people would be liek THAT SUCKS KICK HIM OFF THE TEAM and then in 30 hours there would be something new to yell about. (because being the moral police for this FUCKING LEAGUE is exhausting. where my red wings girlies who are dead inside at?? let me hear you scream into the void!)
so let's take a sexual encounter/assault off the table. what the hell was it?? probably not a racist thing. the chicago hockey team for sure doesn't care about that (See: their logo). its probably not a straight up and down illegal thing because the cops aren't involved as far as we know. (not that that really matters to this league either. remember the val nichushkin thing?? or the lucic thing?? {im assuming he'll be playing again soon} or like a million other things?? god this league is exhausting)
i saw someone say a hazing thing and that i might believe, esp bc of how their gm looked on the brink of tears. but then... say that?? or then why say no one else in the locker room knows about it?? are we keeping them in the dark or are we covering their asses legally??
this league is so fucked up, that there's honestly not much i can imagine that a hockey player could do that would warrant THIS from his team and the NHL.
(unless of course he's claimed off waivers or signed in like three months, then it's probably your garden variety assault/hazing/drunk/racist incident)
UGH i hate it here sometimes
