#but i also think it makes a difference depending on the player because it's easier to play 500s if you're losing earlier in big events

Sorry this is the same anon from before LOL i wanted to clarify something!! When i said incentivize tanking i meant it encourages players to show up to smaller tournaments that they donât actually intend to put full effort into. Because like you said, the majority of 500s are right around slams/masters! So why would an Iga or Aryna want to go all out in those tournaments knowing that if theyâre tired or hurt for the big ones theyâre leaving points on the table. Itâs just hard on the players all around
Sure, but I mean now we're just back to the scheduling issue which the one thing I think everyone can all agree on (season too long! why 6 mandatory 500s??). But still, I don't necessarily think there's clear incentive to tank 500s for the sake of satisfying the mandatory 6. I just don't think there's any motivation to tank tournaments that are going to count towards your point total anyway, and even if there is, then that's the player's loss (that is, if you're taking the effort to show up, you might as well play). From what we can see, it seems more common for players to just skip 500s entirely if they don't want to play, and accept mandatory zeros.
Of the current top 10 players, only Emma, Dasha, and Bia have actually played 6 or more 500s. I'm pretty sure more of them reached 6 through other means (e.g. Qinwen is allowed to count Ningbo because she did promotional events there, Jess and Elena both have multiple extended periods of inactivity due to injury which might add to their tally). But my point is, I don't think the WTA making it mandatory to play 6 500s even makes much of a difference, because clearly the players are willing to drop points and take mandatory zeros for the sake of scheduling. Which again, circles back to the rather annoying conclusion of "well...those are the rules I guess" when it comes to Iga losing #1.
But the truth is I really don't think any of these players want to tank. Even just going to a 500 event and losing in R1 expends a lot of time and energy. Plus, a lot of these players get first round byes, so they're usually having to stay until mid-week anyway. At that point, I think most of them would rather just skip, take the zero, and prepare for the next tournament. And even if they do go to 500s and tank...then I think that's kind of their problem? Because ultimately they're the one losing out on points. So it could be a strategy employed by some, but it really seems that most of these players prefer skipping to tanking.
#idk. like of course it's hard to evaluate what the general opinion is since i am not a professional athlete#but i also think there's just no strong incentive to tank 500s#i think there IS strong incentive to skip them! which is why you see tournaments like guadalajara and seoul had so many withdrawals#because the players want a break after grand slams so those are the tournaments sacrificed#i just think when you factor in tournament preparation and travel etc etc etc that tanking isn't actually worth it#especially considering the fact that as i mentioend before the 500 draws are getting weaker as more tournaments get added#so if you're showing up as a top seed and might not even play someone ranked in the top 20 until the final...#it just seems kind of like a missed oppourtunity if you tank#but also i do remember some people accused elena of tanking in adelaide so that she could have more time off for AO and look how that went#i think if a player is fatigued enough to consider tanking they would rather just withdraw entirely#but i also think it makes a difference depending on the player because it's easier to play 500s if you're losing earlier in big events#if you lost round 1 of uso then going to guadalajara is a lot easier than if you made the final#idk. i have more thoughts about this because i think it really connects to the entire calendar as well as the more specific scheduling bits#but i dont want to put all of that in the tags#sorry for talking so much

Astrology observations đ đ đ
Credit goes to @astroismypassion
đ I previously wrote about how Aries Moon native didn't receive much attention from the opposite sex in younger years, which is why some when they receive much more attention, kinda turn into players. But now I concluded it's not only Aries Moon that didn't receive attention. It's also Pisces Moon. But for different reasons. They didn't receive much attention from the opposite sex, because they were focused on their own interests and were nerdy, bookworms, loved expanding their knowledge instead. Beware though, adult Pisces Moon can easily turn into players too. However, they usually just have some imaginary people that they think are after them haha, they invent fake stories of people thirsting after them to make themselves more appealing and to make others jealous.
đ I noticed real life Pisces Moon men try to âbuyâ their partnerâs love and affection. They think if they wonât share resources with them or provide for them, buy them with gifts and favours, that the partner will leave. Some Pisces Moon men even pay women for sex. Now I also found a celebrity astrology example. Rapper Offset who is Pisces Moon native was accused by wife rapper Cardi B of paying women to have sex with him. My conclusion is Pisces Moon natives feel undeserving of love and feel they need to pay for it in order to get it.
đ I noticed a lot of women being fed up with Cancer Sun men stereotypes. They feel Cancer Sun men are being misrepresented of being clingy and needy due to many of them turning out cheaters. But honestly, I see Cancer Sun men cheating or not based on his Moon sign. It really depends on the sign, degree and how it is aspected. I most often noticed Cancer Sun men cheating if their Moon sign is Scorpio or Aquarius, Sagittarius and Pisces. While other Cancer Suns with Taurus, Libra, Virgo for example being fixated on their partner. There are a lot more traits in astrology community about Cancer Sun men, that people feel are slept on about them. Such as financial abuse, emotional manipulation, degrading, use of control. Some say never let a Cancer Sun man to move in your home.
đ One combination that is so under-rated, but one that I see often is Aquarius Sun and Scorpio Sun friendship. Itâs much more rare to see these two date (but some still do!), Scorpio Sun most often goes for Virgo Sun instead Aquarius Sun, since they both are cerebral and logical. But Aquarius and Scorpio Sun friendships can be really common.
đ Scorpio Mercury/Mercury in the 8th house is just as bad to have as Gemini Lilith. You guys both see the worst traits of your sibling(s). The difference is that with Mercury you probably have a nasty way of communicating with each other, cursing each other out a lot, making threats or backmail each other. But with Lilith, there is so much jealousy and envy going on. You noticed your sibling being privileged in certain aspects of life starting by parents, later on by co-workers, the boss in the workplace.
đ Having Virgo Descendant is always easier than Gemini Descendant despite both being similar due to being Mercurial Descendants. With Virgo Descendant you are still able to be really organized, methodical and have a good sense of time management. While Gemini Descendants either have ADHD, poor time management skills, can be scared of certain social interactions, like calling in for a dentistâs appointment, having social anxiety, poor focus and concentration and canât sit at once place for too long.
đ Also, Gemini and Virgo Descendants are both guilty of preparing words and what they are going to say before an interaction in advance.
đ Why are we not discussing enough how Gemini Sun people are misanthrope/dislike people despite being so communicative? I noticed so many not enjoying people and socializing with them as much, kinda fed up with people energy haha.
đ Taurus Sun people are the most conflict avoidant (even more than Libra Sun), but not due to being a people pleaser, but because they are not able to see when they are at a fault. They also donât know how to even behave and reaction to a conflict. They have very poor conflict resolution skills. Thatâs why most of them avoid it in the first place. That and oh, their stomach gets upset or their whole body starts shaking.
đ Virgo Sun is prone to have health issues or catch a cold easily, but I beg to differ, have you seen a Cancer Sun? These guys have what it seems a never-ending cold the whole winter season. They seem to have weak immune system and really sensitive bodies. I have yet to see a healthy Cancer Sun.
đ Leo Lilith, Lilith in the 5th house, Lilith at a Leo degree (5, 17, 29) people attract people that date them for how much attention the native is receiving. They attract people that want to âstill their lightâ, make them feel less confident and self-assured. These natives also often attract Capricorn Sun/Venus or Venus in the 10th house, Venus at a Capricorn degree (10, 22) people.
đ I always see couples that donât make sense to me. Those couples you kind of donât know what attracted them to each other, because they seem like they are not that similar? Itâs because thereâs usually a Sun Moon conjunction. This usually makes people enter a partnership, even if they are complete opposites. You know how Kourtney Kardashian looked so different from Travis Barker when they first started dating? Now they dress in a similar manner and look much more alike, but at the beginning, they seemed mismatched. You would probably never suspect that they have Aries Sun Aries Moon conjunction with how they were at the very beginning. Thatâs why people were surprised to hear that their children were friends and had family play dates for years before they started dating, you would never suspect it, because Sun Moon conjunction is such a âquietâ, not-in-your-face aspect.
đ I studied the Natal charts of married couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. And they are such good definition of being complete opposites literally (he is a Capricorn Sun at 11, an Aquarius degree) and she is a Cancer Sun at 26, a Taurus degree), but they match each otherâs freak.
đ A moment of silence to all Scorpio Moons who have dated an Aquarius Sun or Moon at least at one point in their life. Also to the Scorpio Venus and Aquarius Venus couples.
đ Gemini Descendant natives can be prone to vitamin deficiency.
đ A lot of opposite Moon signs really do work, because there are so many traits in common. Such as one being Aries Moon and the other Libra Moon, Scorpio Moon- Taurus Moon etc. But one Moon opposition I see doesnât work is if one is Leo Moon and the other is Aquarius Moon. Leo Moon wants to be treated differently than the rest and being treated differently than other makes them feel special. While Aquarius Moon treats everyone the same, friends, family members, lovers, partners.

Breaking Point
Pairing: (Platonic) Uconn wbb team x Manager!Reader
Word count: 1508
My Masterlist :)
.................................................
The sun had set hours ago, casting the campus in soft hues of blue and purple as the last traces of daylight slipped away. Inside the UConn basketball facility, the lights were still on, illuminating the court and the offices where the teamâs dedicated manager, you, sat hunched over a desk cluttered with schedules, practice plans, and game itineraries. Your fingers flew across your laptop, finalising details for the next weekâs practices, making sure every tiny element was in place.
You had been doing this for hoursâdays, really. Balancing all the responsibilities of being the teamâs manager was a full-time job in itself, but you never complained. You loved the team, loved the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself. Every game plan, every practice schedule was a chance for you to make their lives easier, more organised, to ensure they could focus on playing and winning.
But tonight felt different. Tonight, the weight of everything seemed to press down on your chest a little harder than usual. Your eyes were heavy, your brain foggy from lack of sleep. You couldnât remember the last time you had taken a real break, the last time you had eaten something that wasnât a quick snack between tasks.
As you rubbed your temples, trying to push through the mounting exhaustion, you heard footsteps approaching. The team had just finished a late-night practice, and a few of the playersâAzzi, Paige, and Aaliyahâwalked over, towels draped around their necks, sweat still clinging to their skin.
âStill working?â Paige asked, her tone light but concerned as she glanced at the stack of papers on your desk. âYouâve been at it for hours.â
You forced a smile, though it didnât quite reach your eyes. âYeah, just trying to make sure everythingâs ready for next week. Thereâs a lot to get done.â
Azzi frowned, her sharp eyes narrowing in on the dark circles under your eyes. âYou need to take a break. Youâve been running yourself into the ground lately.â
âIâm fine,â you replied quickly, brushing off their concern. âReally. I just have a few more things to finish, and then Iâll be done.â
Aaliyah stepped closer, her brow furrowed with worry. âYouâve been saying that for days. When was the last time you actually did something for yourself? Ate a real meal? Slept more than a few hours?â
Her words stung a little, not because they were harsh, but because they were true. But there was no time to think about yourself right now. The team needed you. They relied on you to keep everything running smoothly, and you couldnât let them down.
âIâll take a break once Iâm done,â you muttered, turning back to your laptop, trying to dismiss the conversation.
But Paige wasnât having it. âCome on, seriously. We appreciate everything you do for us, but you canât keep going like this. Itâs not healthy.â
You felt your pulse quicken at her words, a strange mix of guilt and frustration building up inside you. You knew they were trying to help, but the thought of stepping away, of not getting everything right, sent a wave of anxiety through you.
âI canât stop right now,â you said, your voice a little sharper than you intended. âIâm almost done, I just needââ
âYou need a break,â Azzi cut in firmly, crossing her arms. âYouâre not helping anyone if you burn yourself out.â
You shook your head, not trusting yourself to argue anymore without snapping. âIâll be fine. I just need to finish this.â
The team exchanged worried glances, but reluctantly stepped back, giving you space. They could see you were overwhelmed, but they also knew you were stubborn when it came to taking care of the team. Theyâd have to try again later.
Once they left, you exhaled, trying to refocus. Your hands trembled slightly as you typed, exhaustion making it harder to concentrate. But you pressed on, determined to get everything perfect. The team depended on you for this, and there was no room for mistakes.
But then, in your haze of exhaustion and stress, something slipped.
You didnât notice it at first. You finished typing up the practice schedule, sent it off, and leaned back in your chair, rubbing your tired eyes. But as you scrolled back through the document to double-check the details, your heart dropped.
The times were wrong.
The schedule you had just sent outâthe one for the entire next week of practiceâwas completely off. The gym had been booked for the wrong hours, and now it would overlap with another teamâs time slot. There was no way to fix it without completely reworking the entire plan, calling the facility to reschedule, contacting the other teamâŚ
Panic began to rise in your chest, a suffocating wave of anxiety crashing over you. Your breath hitched, your vision blurring as the weight of everything youâd been holding together started to unravel. You could feel your heartbeat quicken, pounding in your ears. This mistakeâit wasnât something small. It was huge, and it would mess up the teamâs entire week of preparation.
You couldnât let them down like this. Not after everything youâd worked so hard for. Not when they were counting on you.
But your hands wouldnât stop shaking. You tried to type, tried to fix the mistake, but your fingers fumbled over the keys, and the screen swam in front of you. Tears pricked at your eyes, and you gasped for air, your chest tightening as the panic took hold.
You were spiralling.
Suddenly, a familiar voice cut through the haze. âHey, whatâs going on?â
It was Paige. She must have come back to check on you. Before you could even respond, she was at your side, her eyes widening in alarm as she saw the state you were in.
âGuys! Come here, quick!â Paige called out, and within seconds, Azzi, Aaliyah, and Nika rushed over, their faces filled with concern.
You were shaking, your breaths coming in ragged gasps as you tried to explain what had happened, but the words wouldnât come out. Your chest felt like it was caving in, and you couldnât think straight. The room felt too small, too overwhelming.
âI messed up⌠I messed up everythingâŚâ you choked out, tears spilling down your cheeks. âThe schedule⌠itâs all wrong. Iâve ruined everything for the teamâŚâ
Paige crouched down beside you, her voice calm but firm. âHey, hey, itâs okay. Weâll figure it out, alright? Just breathe.â
Azzi knelt on your other side, her hand gently resting on your back. âYouâre not alone in this. Weâre here. Weâll fix it together.â
You shook your head, the panic still gripping you tightly. âBut Iââ
âShhh,â Aaliyah interrupted softly, crouching in front of you, her voice gentle. âYouâve done so much for us. You donât have to carry all of this on your own. Weâve got your back, just like you always have ours.â
Nika handed you a water bottle and knelt beside you, her voice soothing. âTake a deep breath, alright? In and out. Youâre not going to fix anything by pushing yourself this hard.â
As their words slowly broke through the panic, you focused on their presenceâon the warmth of their hands, the softness in their voices. Gradually, your breathing slowed, the tightness in your chest easing as you tried to ground yourself.
Paige gave your hand a reassuring squeeze. âYouâve been going non-stop for too long. We can handle a mistake. Youâre allowed to be human.â
You nodded, your throat tight with emotion. âI just⌠I didnât want to let you down.â
Azzi smiled softly, brushing a tear from your cheek. âYou could never let us down. Youâre the heart of this team, and we need you to take care of yourself just as much as you take care of us.â
Aaliyah nodded in agreement. âExactly. Youâve been doing more than enough. Let us help you.â
The weight that had been pressing down on your chest finally started to lift as you realised they were right. You didnât have to be perfect all the time. The team loved you for who you were, not just for what you did for them.
With their support, you slowly stood up, still shaky but feeling a little steadier. Nika handed you a towel to wipe your face, and Paige slung an arm around your shoulders.
âNow, weâre gonna get you out of here,â Paige said firmly. âYouâre taking the night off. No arguments.â
Azzi nodded, a playful smile on her lips. âYeah, weâll fix the schedule in the morning. Right now, youâre going to rest.â
And for the first time in a long while, you didnât argue. You let them take care of you, just like you had always taken care of them. You werenât in this alone, and that realisation brought a sense of relief you hadnât known you needed.
As they led you out of the gym, you knew you would be okay. You had your teamâyour familyâby your side. And together, you could face anything.

Long Post
Iâm starting to feel people donât understand what espionage truly means. I recently came across this post that said Tamlin was never a double agent and was only playing the good guy to save himself, and there was a list supporting the claim. So, here we go.
Fair warning: this is needlessly elaborate, includes many tangents and requires thinking from perspectives outside of the explicit narrative.
Before we begin, letâs get one thing clear, just because Night flaunts Azriel as their spymaster, it doesnât mean thatâs how spies operate. Revealing their identity risks compromising future missions and the people close to them. IRL spies lead double lives for decades for this very reason and only a select few are trusted with the knowledge depending on who they report to or who serve as their getaway.
âEven Lucien was in the dark.â Dagdan and Brannagh are daemati. Involving more people in the plan means more sources for the twins to exploit and more possible leverage for Hybern. Lucien could be held captive or threatened with death to force Tamlin into furthering the war. Their friendship was taken advantage of by Amarantha twice before. It isnât a matter of trust but of protection, the way Feyre isnât involved either. Besides, if Tamlin is compromised and found plotting against Hybern, the first step would be to check Lucienâs mind, leaving with no one in power left to protect Spring.
âTamlin let Hybern settle in Spring.â Tamlin grants access to a troop to survey the Wall, which is different from allowing a whole army into his territory. With his defences intact, he still has the upper hand. Managing and controlling the movements of a troop within his borders is much easier than stopping an army, which is exactly what Lucien doesâaccompanying Jurian and the twins to the Wall. It is after Feyre destroys Spring that they are left vulnerable, allowing the rest of the Hybernâs army camp there. Moreover, denying access to his lands would be suspicious, not letting them inspect the Wall would be suspicious. It is part of the act, playing a willing participant in upholding his end of the deal.
âTamlin didnât warn the other courts.â After Amaranthaâs reign, while the other High Lords are rebuilding their courts and making allies, Tamlin is invested in freeing Feyre from her bargain. Among the six courts, one is Springâs enemy for harbouring Lucien, one steals Feyre every month, and two are fairly new High Lords Tamlin doesnât know. And if Nightâs visit to Summer is common knowledge, Tarquin âallowsâ Rhysand to parade Feyre again after witnessing everything Under the Mountain. Clearly, Tamlin doesnât know who to trust.
Considering he chooses to warn them, a âHey, Hybern is coming for us allâ isnât useful enough when itâs already expected after Amaranthaâs reign. In fact, it would have encouraged Hybern to act before the courts could recuperate or even unleash the Cauldron in whatever capacity. This is evidenced by the attack on Velaris when they attempted to gain the mortal Queens on their side. Hybern has been amassing armies for years, centuries even. In order to win, Prythian needs more than a âwarningâ which Tamlin manages to obtain.
Moreover, the battle of Adriata occurs right after Feyre returns to Night (iirc a week or two). Since Spring is in tatters, Tamlin isnât in a position to help anyone, especially as Hybern attacks from the seas and not Spring lands. Also, his emissary, Lucien, and every other powerful player on his side are removed from the board.
Besides, who would believe his words when not long ago he was running around like a depraved lunatic to save the woman he loves, and none of them cared? Who would believe itâs more than his paranoia or even a ploy to get her back without concrete proof?
âSpring was already broken.â From the beginning, it is clear that Tamlin has his peopleâs loyalty. His sentries beg to be sacrificed to free him from the curse. When the lands grow dangerous with not many left to defend it, the people flee. After the curse is broken, they all returnâone of them being Alis. Despite the reduced population, with Amaranthaâs cronies still at large and creatures roaming wild, Spring is recovering and the people are happy. Feyre herself notes how content they are to be in Tamlinâs presence.
When Feyre is kidnapped, Tamlin kills the sentries on guard, which is meant to turn everyone against him. But itâs not that simple. Feyre would have officially become Lady of Spring if she werenât âstolenâ during the wedding. The sentries are entrusted to protect their Ladyâwhom they love and respect. They are aware of the bargain. They are aware Feyre was killed once. They are aware Feyre is a targetâas an asset or Tamlinâs weakness. It is under their watch that she is taken from their home. When they couldnât even stop his third-in-command from walking in, disarming everyone, and carrying Feyre away, how are they expected to protect her from the most powerful High Lord of Prythian?
And, Rhysand is not just an enemy of Tamlin. He has been the villain of Prythian for five centuries and possesses powers to twist someoneâs mind. One outburst from Tamlin isnât enough to make him a monster in the eyes of his sentries when Feyre is now Rhysandâs hostage. The people didnât abandon Spring when Tamlin made a deal with Hybern because they knew there was no one to help them.
Everything that happens after Tamlin, Feyre and Lucien return from Hybernâs castle is a calculated move. Feyre admits that it is her goal to destroy everything Tamlin has, including his court and people. She never opens up about how sheâs treated in Night, even during the one-week stays. Later, she accuses Rhysand of raping her over the past months and tricking her with the fake mating bond. She even takes the dramatic route with âif you peer into the darkness long enough, the darkness peers backâ (paraphrased) saying this to Lucien. There is no reason for anyone to doubt Tamlinâs actions when Feyre proves every one of their fears true.
Feyre doesnât stop there. She exploits the peopleâs faith in her and manipulates them. During the Summer Solstice, she positions herself as more valuable and blessed than the people already claim her to be. With these new beliefs she creates, she becomes a bigger prize for the likes of Rhysand, Beron, and even Hybern. She constantly interrupts the conversations and corners Tamlin into decisions that are less than ideal, which he complies with to put on a united front. She exploits Tamlinâs trauma, abuses him, and pushes him to a breakdown in order to play his victim. She knows of Iantheâs plans and lets the nagas attack using that to her advantage.
The lashings are pivotal in revealing who Tamlin is to the people, but there is a flaw in the narrative. Feyre was stolen from the mansion more than once. Rhysand and Morrigan proved that the mansion is not safe enough. Now, it is not even guarded against a few nagas and the sentry loses the keys after falling asleep? This is a question of their competence and loyalty. Even then, Tamlin waits till the morning to execute the punishment and Feyre controls the sentryâs memories until the very last minute, ensuring Tamlin has little chance to back out. She twists the scenario as Tamlinâs cruelty, when it is a High Lordâs home breached and their enemies are on their lands. Feyre exploits Tamlinâs fears, pushing him to take drastic measures and playing the saint who expected him to prove his goodness. If she cared so much about the sentry, why didnât she force Ianthe to confess? Ultimately, she goes as far as manipulating them into believing that Tamlin let the twins hunt her. She breaks their trust in their High Lord. Everything Feyre does or says is a lie until Tamlin cracks (if you want to draw parallels, itâs exactly what Rhysand claims to have done Under the Mountain).
This is often ignored or used as proof of Tamlinâs failings. But, Alis leaves Spring because she knows that Hybern is not the only threat. Though she doesnât hate or blame Feyre, she understands that soon Spring will fall because of her and Night.
So no, Spring was not broken. It was more put together than Night, where Rhysand has to threaten one half of his army and buy the loyalty of the other with false promises. Spring is loyal to their High Lord and their court until Feyre manipulates them. She admits to âpriming Spring to fallâ and âbaiting Tamlinâ. She even wants to take over Spring with Nightâs army after she destroys it. She is the reason for their downfall, not Tamlin, who is stuck in a no-win situation with everyone working against himâIanthe, Feyre, Hybern, and even Lucien after a point.
The real question: Why is Night not held accountable for Hybernâs invasion, but Tamlin is?
Rhysand is aware of Hybernâs movements long before Tamlin makes the deal. He doesnât trust other courts or warn them or ally with themâexactly what Tamlin is condemned for. Rhysand betrays Summer by stealing their most valuable relic and weapon. Itâs only after he fails that he reaches out to other courts for support. In fact, his failure fast-tracks the warâHybern was counting on Inner Circleâs martyr complex which they all played right to the T.
Even forgiving all this as good intentions, they still keep everything under wraps. None of the courts are warned, including Summer and Autumn, who share their borders with Spring, which Hybern is taking over first. For two months, all they do is wait for Feyre. For two months, they donât attempt to unite other courts to stop Hybern or make Feyreâs escape easy. They donât even rally their Illyrian and Darkbringer armies until Feyre arrives. They have the best spymaster and the best network of spies, but they also have the habit of always pulling his sources out at crucial times. They have the most powerful daemati who never uses his powers to find who his potential comrades are but has no problem invading minds to assert his dominance. In the two months, Night comes to the tough decision to hold a High Lords meeting after Feyre returns.
Besides, Feyre claims to spy in Spring but finds nothing useful about Hybernâs plans, which is proved in the meeting. Feyre is a High Lady who canât keep her emotions in check and destroys the one court that shields the mortal lands from the rest of Prythian, leaving both sides vulnerable to Hybern. Tamlin could have stalled the infiltration with his army, exchanged information with the twins or Jurian, or negotiated his peopleâs safety in exchange for more access to his lands which would have been the strategic move here. But Feyre undermines every single leverage Spring has in this situation.
Tamlin siding with Hybern is similar to Rhysand working for Amarantha. No one knows of his intentions until the very end either. Thereâs no proof Rhysand was in favour of Prythian. He is the one who told Amarantha about the human girl in Spring only days before they ran out of time to break the curse. He is the reason Tamlin sends Feyre back to the mortal lands. He is the reason Feyre is abused, tortured, and killed Under the Mountain. None of his actions support his words. Then, why is it hard to believe Tamlin who delivers what he promised? He keeps his cover until Feyre is in danger again. He brings Beronâs forces to join the war. If he was merely playing a hero, he didnât have to do any of this. Tamlin was a double agent and he did a better job than Feyre, who managed to notify her Inner Circle about the twins she killed anyway.
See, the issue is not with the character but the structure of the plot. Did SJM plan it thoroughly? No. Was it executed well? No, there isnât enough foreshadowing to convince the readers. Despite this, it still works to some extent because Feyre is an unreliable narrator. When she arrives in Spring, she is determined to ruin Tamlinâs life and expose him as a monster. She nitpicks every one of his choices, words, and actions. She glosses over his good deeds and reassures herself that they are his manipulative tactics. Even if Tamlin laid his plans out to her, she wouldnât believe itâthatâs how far she is in her rage and vengeance.
The entire espionage arc doesnât exist to redeem Tamlin, but it is a device for Rhysand and Feyre to magically have everything they need. Tamlin is not a character SJM cares about. He is a villain and will always remain a villain. Had it been someone she wanted to redeem, there would be a 12-page monologue in the High Lords meeting with tears and a sob story.
None of this is favouring one point of view over the other, but itâs important to consider the mentality of other characters in such situations instead of believing every word from the chosen narrator. This is a major problem in this fandom where readers take Feyre and Rhysandâs views at face value and treat it as absolute truth when the situation is much more complex. SJM doesnât respect her readersâ intelligence and writes with complete abandon. As long as you lap up whatever she offers and glorify her books, she has no reason to write a better story. Instead of hating on the characters like Tamlin, maybe you should be questioning the writer for such an unconvincing and subpar plot.

Some of this was expanding things throughout the game, and most of it was expanding the epilogue sequence to include LOTS more detail about where the PC is living at the end, their career choices, who theyâre living with if anyone, letters from friends and loved ones if theyâre living in different places, and rundowns of what major characters are up to if the PCâs living in the same town/location as them but not living in the same house.
That whole section ended up incredibly branchy and complicated, but Iâm really proud of it - I think it caps off the game nicely. Yesterday I played through several of the ending scenes and felt really good about them, which is a nice feeling to have.
Honor Bound is now going to copyedit, and itâs looking like the release should be somewhere in early December, depending how long the copyediting takes. Copyediting is certainly a big job, because right now the game stats are:
Total wordcount:Â 592898 words Average playthrough:Â 98553 words
So each playthrough sees about 16% of whatâs there, which means a ton of variety from playthrough to playthrough⌠and thereâs a huge amount there to see even on one playthrough.
Iâm incredibly grateful to all the testers from start to finish and everyone who has cheerled, supported, and given feedback thatâs helped get this game into shape. I massively appreciate everyone here who subscribed which gave me a real helping hand, and who gave feedback on early versions of the drafts.
Iâve learned a huge amount from making this project, and have stretched out of my comfort zone in a variety of ways. Itâs interesting seeing what writing-process-mistakes I didnât do because of learning from Royal Affairs, and where I committed whole new coding crimes. (Next project, I am going to go easier on the nested *gosubs so itâs easier to troubleshoot and read. I am sure I will do something else that makes the code horrid to read.)
Itâs the largest and most ambitious of my CoG games, and Iâm proud of how the plotâs paced and pulls together. Iâm incredibly fond of the characters - even if I put them through horrible things. It was so different writing characters who were older and more mature in various ways than the teenagers in Creme and Royal Affairs (and the young adults in Noblesse Oblige, who are all going through⌠a lot), but still with plenty of flaws, foibles, and hangups. I was delighted when characters surprised me, as well as when I could feel âoh, this is classic [character]â and their dialogue came naturally. There are some personality nuances that Iâm not sure anyone will end up noticing, but felt lovely to put in because I had such a strong sense of who the characters were.
Iâm also really pleased with how much Iâve personalised the PCâs dialogue and internal voice. When the PC speaks in the text (and often in the dialogue options), their tone and vibe is almost always informed by how their personality has been expressed by the player, which works with the choices the playerâs making to make the PC feel their own. I really wanted to make the PC feel like an adult whoâs gone through Some Major Stuff and is in a position of figuring out their principles and purpose because of it: there are a ton of different ways in which they can respond to whatâs happened to them and to what happens throughout the game.
Iâve really loved exploring a new part of the Creme de la Creme setting and show such a different culture to Westerlin. I hope you all enjoy Honor Bound once itâs out!
(and⌠please wishlist on Steam if you havenât already - it really helps!)

thinking about Echoes of Wisdom again, and, I really hope that the progression in that becomes the standard for zelda games from here on out.
Like, the old standard set by Ocarina of Time, followed all the way to Skyward sword, was strictly linear. I, personally, don't have a problem with linearity, but the devs at nintendo clearly do, if their comments on BotW are anything to go by. In my mind, the downsides of a lack of player agency are more than made up for by the dungeons having a proper difficulty curve, and having a linear story.
In BotW and TotK, in a desire to put player freedom above all else, you can do the dungeons in whatever order, and you get all your abilities right out of the gate. ...Which also means that every single dungeon has to be presented as though it's the first dungeon a player might encounter (ie: explaining you need the map to activate the terminals to control the divine beast every single time) and also can't be too difficult either. And the also means that the story can't be too heavily tied to dungeons because, again, the player can do them in any order. Which leads to moments like every single one of the sages in TotK giving the exact same backstory of "Ganondorf attacked with armies of demons, we fought him with sacred stones, we almost lost but then rauru heroically sacrificed himself, and then the Sage of Time showed up and said you'd be around to fix shit in a few thousand years".
This is, uh. I'm not going to beat around the bush: fucking terrible. TotK tried to solve this a bit with the 5th sage dungeon being locked behind doing the other 4, and the run up to the castle, but it kind of fell flat. Especially because mineru, by the time you get her, really isn't very good.
Echoes of Wisdom, thankfully, fixes this! You have free roam of the map from the start - though, some areas will hand you your ass if you don't have strong enough echoes of your own - but you have to do the starter dungeons, the Gerudo and Zora, first. If you go to the areas with the later dungeons... well, you can go there, but there's no point, because the plot hasn't actually happened there yet. If you decide to go visit the deku scrubs first, they're just chilling. The only thing there is funny dialogue. (For example, if you try to climb the mountain first, Tri will pop up and go "there is nothing here for you and you WILL freeze your ass off, are you sure you want to be here...?")
This!! Is the best of both worlds. The player has freedom to do stuff in whatever order, within limits. And, unlike TotK, which just gives you the same goddamn information each time, the game goes "okay we have 3 different lore-drops we need to do, and they need to be done in [x] order, but it doesn't actually fucking matter who says them."
Granted, this is much easier to do when there's no voice acting, but. Come the fuck on, nintendo. You have like 10 scenes total with voice acting. You can make the actor say something different depending on when you do them. This isn't hard.
#legend of zelda#echoes of wisdom#botw#totk#anyways i cant wait for nintendo to backpedal on this and release BotW 3 in a few years having learned nothing

i agree with the assignments but hmmm... i think malleus should be gluttony and idia lust! I feel like the same reasons we can confuse idia for pride can be the reasons why he fits lust. Whereas the reasons malleus can fit greed, is why he's gluttony if that makes sense? Also when it boils down to it, i feel like malleus can be in a sexless relationship based on pure love but i can see idia blowing his lid if he gets continually denied. I also feel like malleus has more self control and even with biological ruts, he can hold back and not "make a mistake" where i feel like idia would downright demand darling to take care of his lust. I know we always joke abt shy subby uwu idia, but ppl forget who he represents and just how depraved he can be. It can get rlly dark w him and lust >_<. But malleus, i see more of like gluttony for life and experiences. I think nothing would make him happier than to be at the center of the table, surrounded by food and drink and company and having a ball of a time. Even as the night weighs on and people are exhausted, malleus wont dismiss them as yet because HE is enjoying himself and having a good time, to the point where he is the only one smiling at the table anymore and everyone else is tortured to be there because of his gluttony for companionship. Mal is a spoiled prince and if he lacked any less, he would be envy, but he has everything. He has a lot of pride too, but not infront of player, and when it boils down to it, Idia has desire, but Malleus really just has a hunger to be accepted and loved.
AAAA ANON, THESE ARE WONDERFUL POINTS!!!!! Very thought-provoking!!! I wanted to separate sex and lust for what I have in mind for the fic (and if I wasn't writing about the seven Overblots then Rollo would immediately take the sin of lust for very obvious reasons and symbolisms. <3). I definitely agree that Malleus and Idia fit lots of different sins and so it can be difficult to assign just one to them (as well as the rest of the cast, but it's a little easier for some of them,,, i.e. Riddle's infamous temper grants him wrath by default. Azul's insatiable avarice (when it comes to his contracts) grants him greed. Etc etc.)
I do think there is a solid difference between desiring something and hungering for it, but then they also pair well together from time to time. Perhaps desire gives way to hunger. To hunger for something is to do so out of desperation (in some cases), and since Malleus is such a lonely soul and has never truly had a connection in which someone looks past the lofty title of heir apparent and future ruler of Briar Valley it makes sense for him to hunger so desperately for that sort of connection. It's why he's unable to simply let Lilia go and why he doesn't want to lose him. He can't accept the finality of an ending or parting, which is why he puts everyone to sleep in hopes that they can all find happiness in their dreams.
I think you can also argue that Idia hungers a little in book six. He desperately doesn't want the job he's set to inherit, and even when he was little he wanted to find a way to escape with Ortho. But due to the circumstances and the curse of his lineage there's only so much that can be done, or so he views it as such.
Perhaps these sins are interchangeable with Malleus and Idia depending on how you frame it. They both desire and hunger for things in their own ways. Idia's guilt and stress overwhelms him and his idea of getting what he's always desired is to reset the world alongside Ortho. Malleus's loneliness and desperation to hold onto the bonds he currently has (his unwillingness to let these go, to accept the fact that everyone will inevitably grow old and that life goes on, his desire and/or hunger to be seen and accepted for himself)......... aaaaa it's great!!!!
Rambling aside, I do love the thought of Idia embodying lust and Malleus embodying gluttony. I'm still debating between the two, but now I'm inclined to lean more towards these assignments after reading your thoughts and dissecting my own. They're very fitting from your perspective!!! >w< also,,,, I like a very dark, messed up Idia, so perhaps pairing him with lust will make for very yummy concepts.

sorry if youâve been asked this before but how do you interpret Zeus in Greek mythology?
I know you like to keep the details of your comic a secret but can you at least elaborate on your perspective about his canon?
Like me personally, I see Zeus as kind of a force of nature, probably cuz he kind of is. Heâs the man made character created in order to further understand that which man did not know, like all the gods. And also like the other gods his actions are hard to rationalize cuz theyâre so dam inconsistent. One moment heâs treating women as disposable then the next heâs giving Hestia the respect and permission to never marry without any question.
sorry for the Yap sesh lol, love ur art and ur comic btw!
I think this is the first time someone has asked this and I am very happy to answer!
*THIS IS TO BIG SORRY!! ;-;
First, I need to make it clear that the Zeus of ancient myths and my Zeus will be different, even though its based on mythology. I am just contributing with my two cents to this range of fanfics that have existed since ancient times.
I truly believe that all the myths we love and explore are basically fanfics based on a religion and that people in the past used them to spread knowledge, comedies, tragedies and just to have fun while keeping the image of their gods alive. That is why the gods are so inconsistent in mythology, since we have many variations even of a single myth and it will always depend on who is telling the story (I wish it were easier to make fics like this about my religion, but I am afraid of the reaction of extremists).
I interpret Zeus in mythology like all the other gods, I no longer make a distinction based on the prejudice of him being a compulsive pervert, he has many sides. As all gods re natural forces, natural as in animal and plants, but also human feelings and urges.
Zeus has some basic pillars that myths tend to respect: He is THE father, he is the fairest one, he is the executioner, he is seductive, he is good-humored (sometimes he makes some bad jokes kkkkkk), he defends natural balance more than anything and he respects the will of others (this seems ironic, but calm down!!). After reading more myths about him and different interpretations, I understood that this modern view of him as a player is completely distorted and ignores all the other myths he participates (I understand that it became his joke, but⌠some people take it to seriously). So I started to form my own view of his myths.
Most of his adulteries are consensual and when they are not, they remain in that confusing area of ââwhat was once consensual, since it is always mentioned that he seduces (for example, how he turned into an bull or a shower of gold because he knew that his potential partners really liked those things - and I find it hilarious that it seems like he didn't even intend to get Danae pregnant kkkkkk, but it ended up happening). This doesn't mean we can't understand that some of these seductions are abusive (like taking the form of a husband to have a night with Persephone or Alcmena), but saying that he discarded them doesn't seem right either. He often protected his lovers and bastards in the most intelligent way possible and sometimes he just walked away too for the good of others. And in a way, as the father and lord of the sky, he is always watching. I also hate how we take away any woman agency when it comes to Zeus, like, there re myths that they wanted a casual nigth with a god... stop ignoring that!! (the bad thing is that Zeus is also a pilar for fertility ;w; so if he sleep with someone with a uterus... they will get pregnant).
Going to the non-literal side, we have to remember that Zeus is a god and his adultery should not be seen as the same as that of mortal men. He cant acuatlly be with a mortal on the mortal realm and be a husband there... I also want to say: Hera wasn't that jealousy (I think she herself knew that Zeus needed to spread his blood/goodness in the world - yes, a strong interpretation is that Zeus' affairs are a metaphor for spreading goodness). On the contrary, she respected the bastards who faced their challenges and thus deserved to be close to them on Olympus. Hera tested the heroes for two reasons: So they understood that she and Zeus were in charge (so that no one would think they could usurp the throne, and she protected both her and Zeus, as well as Zeus do his best to also prevent the bastards to die and have some help - both Zeus and Hera do all this from a distance, they want to be fair with eachother) and to see if they deserved to be with the immortals.
It seems ironic today, but Zeus respected everyone's will, but it was in the Greek terms (more of in atenians terms, bc we don't have much of the other states). He accepted the decisions of Hestia, Athena, Artemis⌠I don't remember seeing him laying a finger on them or wanting them to get married. On the other hand, we have versions of him as father of Persephone, 'selling' her (but the myth was about an arranged marriage and I think it makes sense that it's Zeus, since the focus ends up being Demeter's suffering and this encompasses more complex feelings when losing her daughter because her 'husband' gave her away, while he is still respected and loved socially).
Now the bad side of Zeus in how fair he is. He punishes Apollo in some situations, even though I understand why he needed to do it⌠But he is not shallow enough to be evil for the sake of evil⌠It left a impression on me when he killed Asclepius and hurt Apollo (obviously), it is sad and I doubt he enjoyed killing his grandson, but if he didn't do it⌠the balance of the cycle of death would collapse and he is the one who sustains this cycle with the greatest respect. In fact, my theory is that he doesn't face Nyx, not because he fears her, but because no matter who wins the fight, the world will end (if Nyx dies, the night and everything that comes from the night, for the Greeks like sleep and death, will be disturbed / if Zeus dies the throne will be empty and no other god would do what he does, maybe Athena, but the world was too sexist back then to let her become sovereign and I also think she would be colder than Zeus when making decisions and would have no descendantsâŚ). But sometimes he just wanted to prank and have fun! So like, no straight answer here.
In the case of Ganymede, I believe that his myth is more one of those in which Zeus is merely a narrative tool, more than an active role. People just started shipping them and that's when the pederasty boom happened, but before that Ganymede was just a boy who was handsome and got a 'dream job' (poor thingâŚ).

Second part of the giga-ask compilation!
@publicuniversalworstie asked: Why assume the Horrorterrors would know that changing events would create a doomed timeline? That assumes both A) that the horrorterrors know the future and B) that they don't think it can really be changed. Maybe they genuinely thought they could change things, such as by perhaps fulfilling all the requisite loops a different way? Imagine a scenario where a time traveler learns of their death, therefore being destined to die, and instead fake their death to create the conditions under which they learned of the death originally.
It's possible. But if the Horrorterrors do have a way to trick the Alpha Timeline like that, then they've really been holding out on us by not mentioning it to the Players. Such a revelation would completely change the game - we might even be able to fake the Earth's death.
Anonymous asked: i want to learn more about coding to analyze homestuck better - do you have a place i could start? resources? idk love the liveblog hope you're doin well :]
Absolutely! I've got two separate answers for you, depending on what your goal is here.
If your main goal is just to analyse Homestuck, then youâre probably best off picking a language whose syntax is easy to understand, such as Python. You'll pick up on the basic logic pretty quickly, and the ~ATH snippets will start to make a lot more sense.
If youâre actually interested in programming for its own sake, then I recommend you start with my own first language, C. Itâs a lot harder for a newbie to get to grips with, but doing so will give you a much more solid theoretical foundation then ostensibly âeasierâ languages.
W3schools is a decent starting resource for both languages - but if you need more specific guidance, let me know, and I'd be happy to help!
@skelekingfeddy asked: actually grubmom having the same color wires as in that pic of sahlee wasnt intentional! i based it on how solluxâs game grubs have red and blue wires attached to them
Serendipity!
Anonymous asked: Did you run any mysterious ~ath programs on that computer of yours?
Honestly, running ATH on that thing would probably have improved it.
Anonymous asked: One voice headcanon I have for Terezi is the English dub of Power from Chainsaw man
Honestly, she sounds pretty much exactly how I imagine Terezi does. She even has the horns!
@martinkhall asked: I'm surprised none of the suggested instruments for a time player were an ocarina.
Some fruit is just too low-hanging.
@delicate-ruins asked: what's an animal you like that you think doesn't show up very much in media, be it fiction or news or just generally? example: i like secretary birds. but except for videos about them, i have never heard them references.
They're not obscure, per se, but there will never be enough sloths in media. The only fictional sloth of note is Sid from Ice Age â and he does not do them justice.
Capybaras are also underrated as hell â so much so that LibreOffice, which I'm using to edit this compilation, doesnât even recognize the word as real!
Anonymous asked: âIâm trying to figure out if itâs fully a Breath outfit, or if thereâs some Heir stuff too.â the general rule for god tier outfits is that the colors and symbol represent the aspect, the clothes represent the class. so, for example, if two princes of different aspects ascended, their clothing style would be the same but they would a have different color scheme. @skaiandestiny asked: If you haven't already figured it out, class informs the godtier outfit and aspect informs the colors and icon!
In that case, there is something about Johnâs outfit that says âheirâ â but nothing really stands out to me.
@driventopoison asked: Hey, I don't know if it's just me but it seems like you've skipped ahead. I have been following your liveblog daily, but I haven't seen you come across the windy thing yet. Is this because you were using the app or something? Also just want to let you know that I love your liveblog. Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Anyway, Johnâs Windy Thing is indeed documented on the liveblog, and itâs visible to me. I was using the app for some of that segment, though â are app-made posts particularly buggy?
@classpecting-guide-official asked: story about a modded game of sburb where the characters notice that something isn't right and slowly realize that their world is a lie
Back in Act 1, this is pretty much what I thought was happening. It was a simpler time.
@ignis-cain asked: Note the colors the capslock flashes for WV.
When WV locks his capsule, the buttonâs light flashes red and green â but Iâm not sure what the significance of these colors is, in this situation.
Anonymous asked: i know i'm SUPER late to answer this, but i think the instantiation thing is the same as any video game, newly made with a prebaked history. when you name your character, that has been their name for their whole life, even though you thought it up a few seconds ago. when you enter the medium, the planet has a history and the denizens have memories, even though they just showed up when you entered.
Yeah, Iâm pretty sure this is indeed whatâs going on. The implications are just a lot more wild when the game is physically real, rather than virtual!
@kintatsu asked: So, I know I'm a little late to the party, but I have to point out: Alternian sunlight doesn't need to be THAT much stronger than Earth's to blind Terezi as quickly as it did. Trolls are nocturnal, which means they almost definitely have a tapetum lucidum (eyeshine membrane), which means that however much light entered Terezi's eyeballs? Her retinas were blasted by every photon twice.
Damn, Vriska. For a second, I thought this ask was explaining why Terezi wasn't in as much pain as I'd thought - but this alternate explanation might actually be worse than what I was picturing!
@delicate-ruins asked: It's delightful to see somebody read Homestuck and be as charmed by it as I and a lot of my friends were way back when we first read it, and the calm, digesting pace at which you're enjoying it is honestly so nice. I rushed way too much to catch up since my friends recommended it in about 2016, which means I went from knowing nothing about the comic to being caught up on it in like a week. I never sat down with the ideas and thought "hey, does this mean XYZ?" because quite often I got the answer five seconds later as I rushed to catch up. But seeing you asking those questions is so so fun. Yeah, DOES it mean that?? Guess we'll find out! In the meantime, we get to guess, which means we basically get to have fun twice. It's reigniting my enjoyment of homestuck quite significantly, I think!
Thank you! Itâs really nice to be able to engage in a dialogue about the comic through these asks, which is something that wouldn't be possible if I was speeding through it. As I always say, I'm here for a good time and a long time.
@manorinthewoods asked: Alright, here's another transtimeline fun fact. Each of the kids was supposed to have a Quest related to their associated material - John had a land covered in oil, Rose's ocean was polluted with chalk, the gears of LOHAC were gummed by amber, and LOFAF was in a nuclear winter. Ultimately, while the ocean of LOLAR is still chalky, nothing but John's oil made the cut. ~LOSS (16/5/23)
I think it was a good change, then. Not everything has to be a pattern, and Dave's two weird maybe-quests are a lot more unique and interesting than a generic 'materials quest'.
@captorations asked: oh hey, this walkaround! so funny story, i used to run a blog where i posted one of tereziâs canon appearances each day, in order. yes, i completed my task, and more besides. however! when i was wandering through this as terezi, a glitch rendered me trapped. i decided that this counted as a noteworthy appearance, and took a screenshot. then, by sheer coincidence, it ended up being posted on⌠halloween. it was pretty great (also donât forget to check out ctrl + t)
You accessed the double-secret version of Past Karkat: Wake Up, which plays the Earthbound Halloween Hack version of Megalovania rather than the Homestuck one.
Anonymous asked: Personally, I think John gaining so many levels so quickly is tied to his role as the heir - he gains so many levels without really trying, not because he's better than the trolls or his friends, but because he just kind of falls into it. The game rewards him for taking the path of least resistance.
That certainly makes sense if we just look at John - but I have trouble reconciling this interpretation with our other Heir. Equius certainly has some advantages, but they aren't exactly unique to him, as you'd expect them to be if his Heir class was responsible for them.
Yes, he's a highblood, but he's outranked by three non-Heirs - and his strength doesn't seem to be unique either, as Feferi seems capable of similar feats. Perhaps Equius will trip and fall into more unique privilege, but it hasn't happened yet.
Anonymous asked: my personal headcanons for midnight crew claspects: Slick - Prince of Blood, Droog - Mage of Space, Boxcars - Knight of Heart, Deuce - Bard of Doom. knowing you youre probably gonna attempt to analyse these LOL
Slick has had ties to Blood since he first met Karkat, so that tracks - and Boxcars is a shipper, so Nepeta's aspect is probably the best fit for now. I'm not sure about the other two, but I'll revisit them later!

If WV And PM Have No Fans I Must Be Dead
(page 1032-1039)
The mirroring of Jade (Prospit; dreaming) and Jade (Earth; robot) has been expanded to also mirror PM (Earth; years in the future) and PM??? (Prospit; now) with more identically-composed panels. It is actually a really smooth transition, and I do think that having time to sit between updates makes it easy to keep track of different versions of the same character, where and when they are, and how they can interact. Iâve seen in forum threads that some people have blasted through the first 1000 pages in a day as they discover the story which must feel like a very steep and confusing learning curve (even if itâs technically more accurate for representing the kidsâ story, which for them is still a single day).
The imps in Johnâs house all look similar enough that this could be a fakeout, and this Prospit white chess piece is not PM, but they have the same build and eyes (see above from pages 723, 844 and 1033). Whether or not this is PM, I love their design. The blue/green stripes hippie two piece with matching hat feels like something I would see on a middle aged woman at a music festival who turns out to be the loveliest person Iâve ever met. But back in Homestuck the angle on page 1033 makes it look like PM(?) has boobs which, cmon, they are a bug/chess piece and Iâve never seen a busty chess piece and this is the laziest possible way to indicate a character is female.
I really do love these futuretime folks like WV and PM, I think their story is so interesting. Theyâre aliens, theyâre bugs, theyâre chess pieces, theyâre video game NPCs, theyâre time travelers, theyâre irresolute wanderers through the wasteland, theyâre the fabric of freedom and democracy and theyâre carrying out the orders of a mysterious thirteen year old girl from a different species who lived centuries ago. Thatâs fascinating, and all their quirks and strangenesses put them in contrast to the kids who â while pretty weird themselves â are fundamentally just humans on the internet, and so are more grounded much easier to relate to then WV and PM.
I donât know if they are fulfilling time loops or trying to actively change the past, but they seem naturally drawn towards these bunkers, like they instinctively still interface with the video game world after leaving it.
The narrator also talks directly to WV again on page 1036, something they did a lot while WV was commanding John in Act 2 (p.258, for example), though this hasnât really happened with PM (yet). In fact it better parallels Jade, the character who most often speaks to the player. Today she actually tries to command WV, using several ==> commands in her note â I wonder if he is programmed to respond to these in any context, not just via computer terminal.
But for real, it must be so hard for WV not to eat those tasty greentext envelopes Jade has made him. And Jade absolutely called this right down to the position of the clouds and the fact that PM would be wearing the postal hat. (I guess Jade doesnât need to feel guilty about causing the bunker to explode if she knows PM will survive, and that has interesting implications for her perspective, if she thinks itâs okay to cause harm in the moment because she definitively knows it wonât have a major, long term impact). But her predictions are eerily specific, not only in their detail, but also in her knowing exactly what guidance WV (Mister Mayor!!) will need to carry out this plan. Her âthe freedom of your people depends on itâ is a really good way to manipulate WV, as Iâm sure she knows he would never neglect his critical mayoral business no matter how tasty the letter is.
So, thereâs going to be an important gift exchange, and it might be relevant that this page drops six days before Christmas. These two were on different sides of the Prospit vs Ominous Planet war, but the hearts and spirit of giving in the note suggest a peaceful exchange, two sides transcending a former antagonism. PM reaching for their sword on page 1039 isnât a good sign, but Iâm sure that as soon as they see the mail, the critical mail business will take precedence.
A more dangerous antagonism comes from the mysterious Aimless Renegade, whose gun remains pointed at the other two. I donât think either WV or PM has noticed them yet. More importantly, has Jade seen them? Theyâre not mentioned â or warned about â in Jadeâs note, and so could be somehow invisible to her powers. This isnât unheard of; Jade has ânever had any sort of feeling about [the trolls] or what they wantâ (p.1000) and says that âif [Bec] wants to be found, he will find [her]â (p.942), so the trolls and Bec both have some defenses against her. AR could be associated with either the trolls or Bec, or immune for a secret third reason.
Either way, Iâm nervous. I like this beautiful WV-PM friendship predicted by Jadeâs note, and I donât want either of them to get blasted with an assault rifle. So whether or not this element has been accounted for by Jade, Iâm hoping for some sort of holiday miracle.
> PM: Draw sword; look upwards.
#homestuck#reaction#sorry but the idea of a jade harley 4chan greentext is very funny to me. what would she write#also thank you to everyone who tagged me in that post abt dracula daily for homestuck! its nice to be thought of!!#chrono

Possibly odd question, I'm trying to prepare to write my undergraduate thesis next year and I'm going to do it on creating battle AIs. Is there any chance I could possibly ask about how the battle system AI in 'in stars and time' works? Totally okay if not or if you're busy!
I'm just especially interested in the design decisions that go behind how especially smaller games handle enemies and creat fun/well weighted battles :D
(all the screencaps will be in JPN because I am currently working on the JPN version ok!!!)
i would love to talk about battle AI and this definitely didn't turn into a "this is how I think about random enemies for In Stars and Time which you should wishlist and play the demo of" just deal with it ok
ok so first I gotta explain how RPGMaker's AI works.
You can give skills to enemies, and you can tell them 1. Conditions, aka when to do a certain skill (always? only on certain turns? only if under a certain state? only if under 50%HP?) and 2. Ratings, aka how high that skill is on the action list.
So for example, this is a Paper Tristesse's attack patterns:
Paper Tristesse's [Paper] attack (which attacks only one target) is set to Always, so they'll always have the possibility to do this attack. [Paper (All)] (which targets the whole party) will be activated only if Tristesse's HP is under 50%, and [Does Something] (which actually just... gives a line of dialogue and nothing else) also always has the possibility to happen. BUT those Rating numbers are different- the higher the number, the more likely that skill is to be activated. So [Paper] happens pretty often, [Paper (All)] less often, and only if Tristesse's HP is under 50%, and [Does Something] is even less likely to happen than both of those.
Paper Tristesse doesn't have a whole lot of attacks, because it's easier for the player so they can keep track of what attacks the enemy has, and it's easier for me. So I don't have. To figure out a whole damn complicated AI when this works great (some other enemies have very long lists of patterns but they're spoilers ok!!!)
(sidenote: [Does Something] is here to give a tiny bit of worldbuilding (how does the Tristesse act?) and to make the enemy skip a turn, giving the player some room to breathe and plan. So sometimes instead of attacking Tristesse goes "(Tristesse is distracted.)" I'm being so nice to players)
This simple pattern of 3 attacks is used by enemies that my producer calls "Goomba enemies", which are random encounters that are supposed to be very simple and not time intensive for the player! For the demo, Tristesse enemies are Goombas, and the triplets (seen below)/Rancoeur+Amertume encounters are made to be slightly harder and ask you to think a lil bit.
(oooh what's the difference between those three lil ladies?????)
The way I'm thinking about random enemies is, they should all teach the player something. Basic Tristesse enemies are here to teach you about the basics of Rock Paper Scissors and have pretty low stakes (just one weak enemy to focus on! Not a lot of attacks to keep track of!), the triplets are here to teach you that HEY WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE THREE SEEMINGLY IDENTICAL ENEMIES DO YOU GET WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK AT YET (it's their hands, because they do different hand signs depending on their RPS type), and Rancoeur+Amertume are here to teach you about enemies with different goals/patterns (Rancoeur buffs, Amertume attacks), and also that enemies can buff themselves, and also about player priorities to a certain extent- which one to focus on first??? And learning those things are useful against bosses and midbosses!
tldr: rpgmaker's AI is pretty simple and so my enemy AI is also pretty simple but it works well so it's perfect. for me â¨

bundletober #13: blazing hymn
alright i've fallen behind on bundletober (the series of blog posts where i review and talk about a ttrpg i got in a bundle every day) and am hoping to make up the difference by putting out two entries today. this is the first one, and i'm looking at the mecha-piloting, synthetic-armour wearing, blaspheming-against-God-and-his-angels game blazing hymn by peach garden games.
now sadly this game is not a lyric/blackout poetry game about rewriting church hymns to be about gay sex. someone should make that btw. no it's just about wearing highly advanced battlesuits powered by the song of your heart to kill aliens with weapons of pure energy. which is about as cool.
first off, the layout of this game is unique and stylish. there are hexagons everywhere:
the game puts sparse splashes of dreamy pastel colours amid a constantly shifting set of black and white hexagons. it gives the book a visual identity that is at once both visually distinct and also changing massively from page to page. it's a really cool way to mix things up and keep you wanting to turn the page if just to keep seeing what the next one even looks like.
what's the game about? simple. angels have come to earth to destroy it badly. with the power of song, young people can power specially designed battlesuits, called Hymnals, that when not activated collapse down into crystal necklaces. it's a pretty anime concept--the game is pretty open about being inspired by Evangelion and Symphogear, neither of which i've actually seen--but it's cool as hell. the aesthetics of the layout really help bring the aesthetics of the game itself, of technology and ethereal mysticism merged into one thing, to life.
the game uses a pretty simple three-stat system where you build dice pools with a state relevant to an action and can get a full success, mixed success, or failure, depending on what you roll. your characters have two resources, Health, which is what it sounds like, and Gain, which is essentially magical power. because you can swap Health for Gain and Gain for Health at a 1-1 ratio with no restrictions, i'm not really sure why they're separate things--seems like a missed opportunity to not only simplify the mechanics but also create a strong mechanical narrative element by making Gain the only thing that keeps you going--once your song is silenced, you're out.
to create a character, you pick from one of six unit classes--here's where i'd describe the six classes, but honestly, they don't quite feel distinct enough. a lot of the powers you can pick for each hymnal class feel very similar, or are outright overlapping in a lot of cases. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the descriptions of the hymnals, while trying to clarify their combat roles, all end up seeming to repeat themselves or say contradictory things. i think some direct ties between those descriptions and their mechanics would have helped--i'd find it a lot easier to remember that, for example, the 05 Xyston type "brutal in combat" if that flavour text was followed by a direct reference to one or more of its abilities. they do all have pretty different stats--which, in a game with a very simple and elegant combat system, means i'm confident they play very differently once you hit the table. but just looking at them, as a prospective player, i struggle to tell the difference.
i don't have that problem with the next character creation mechanic, though, which is choosing the songs you sing to power your hymnal. each song, as well as a thematically appropriate set of stat boosts, also prompts a pair of revealing character questions. they're the kind of mechanic that i want to get my hands on because they make it fun to create characters, giving real mechanical expression to the emotional fundamentals of who they are.
the combat system itself seems really, really good. it's astoundingly simple--you're encouraged to use a map, but there's no fiddly grid or distance tracking, just the ability to move between being Close, Near, or Far from an enemy. it keeps the numbers low to keep it getting silly and doesn't bother with any of the unecessary bookkeeping and fiddliness that plagues TTRPG combat as a whole. no initiative, no separate turns--there's a 'player' turn and a GM turn, and during the GM turn the GM picks from enemy's listed actions until they've done two for each player. players can use their abilities on the GM turn, and the game encourages the GM to take enemy actions that wil lforce them to--so nobody's ever standing around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the whole table to rotate back to them, and having a lot of enemies doesn't mean the players listen to the GM talk for fifteen minutes.
there's two unique mechanics that i think are very interesting-- Civilians and Condemnation. Civilians are--well, exactly what they sound like. on their turn, players can use an action to evacutate up to 5 of them. this extremely small and simple mechanic is fucking genius. so many games tell you they're about saving innocent people, but yet the only mechanical verbs you have to interact with anyone are violent ones. as elaine scarry says in the body in pain:
so in a way i think blazing hymn puts its money where its mouth is in a way very few combat rpgs with emancipatory or heroic aspirations bother. angels are said to attack populated areas--you're sent to preserve life as well as destroy the enemy. it makes the game feel fundamentally different, like despite the questionable ethics of hymnals (after all, they only work on young people, who then have to be sent into deadly combat situations) there is something heroic you can do.
the second cool mechanic is condemnation, a reality-warping toxin that angels use to destroy the places they're sent to. this rocks because it adds a ticking timer to the battlefield, a passive threat that forces the player characters to be proactive. if condemnation gets too high, not only is the fight going to get harder, but civilians are going to die en masse. it's a great piece of game design that gives the GM a great lever to pull for pacing and urgency.
i also really like that one of the steps of the GM turn is to 'change the situation', whether that means something happens in the narrative or something on the map changes (a train arriving is the example the book gives) or more angels attack. in general, one of my biggest complaitns about d&d is that unless a DM takes it upon themselves to design additional mechanics and encounters outside of anything the game actually gives them, combat inevitably turns into two lines of people hitting each other with sticks until one of them dies. i love dynamic, progressing combat, combat where the stakes change moment to moment. and blazing hymn delivers.
anything else? oh yeah, the angel designs are cool as fuck.
god damn. anyway despite a few minor issues with the hymnals themselves, the core of blazing hymnal is fucking good, a nice tight and razor-sharp combat system wrapped up in pulsing pastel crystalline aesthetics. if you like cool anime fights and like having the rules to back it up but hate complexity, crunch, and tedium, this might be the perfect game for you. it's certainly given me a lot of cool design ideas to take foreward into my own projects.
blazing hymn is available for purchase as a digital download through itch.io

DAY 122
For today's drawing, I am representing the producers of the iDOLM@STER! The Producer is the player character and varies in personality depending on the player's actions and the adaptation. There are many Producer characters, all representing different continuities. There are also non-playable producers, like iM@S2 Ritsuko and Ozaki from Dearly Stars. The producer is typically depicted as male, though there are deviations with there starting to be more flexible producer genders (sidems p was depicted androgynous in the manga, and new mirishita mode will let you customize gender).
this is a cute drawing, i decided to have p-head (canonically puchimas p) surrounded by perhaps the most well known, the anime producers (and what i guess is gakumasp? lol). i could have done them all individually because they are all unique in some way but i thought it would make more sense to include the new audition sidem idols as they have more distinct designs and "producer" as a category could be grouped together easier. of course we have more than 365 (which i was focused on when making the wheel) now lol but i still wanted to keep it simple.
have a great day!
look at all of them :D(not even all i think lol)

Trembling Essence:đChoice exploration + finished scenesđ
Hello and welcome new followers, here's an update on how things are going with the game! Firstly a big thank you to the sudden influx of support I got this week, I'm happy knowing people liked the little meme video I did! :,]
This post might be a little long since I had to rewrite a few things, I was trying to upload a picture of one of the new areas you can go in but I got an error and couldn't save what I wrote. :,S
Anywho, I mainly focused on quality of life changes and continued working with the one of the endings you can get at the start of the game.
I don't really know where to start but this ending took a lot longer than expected to really hit what I've been trying to go for. At first, it was going to have two different endings. I took out one of them because I didn't have much of a connection with it and I liked the idea of it being straightforward instead. When I went back over it, everything happened too quickly for my liking. To fix this I went back and added a few choices to at least give you an idea of what the area is like and how it effects the player(Y/N) while making sure the dialog transitioned correctly with what you see on the screen. It's nothing too wordy but I do like it a lot more than I did before. Even though this is still considered one ending there is a alternate version you can get depending on a certain choice. Towards the end I fixed up all the spelling errors I could find and happily enough, there wasn't many. For right now I'd say this ending is finished! Yay! x]
Here's one of my favorite CG's I drew for it:
I love how it turned out because I really want to do different angles and perspective through the terrain, I think this one is my favorite so far! :,,]
Here's a evening time version of it:
It's suppose to be raining in this image but I still need to practice getting the angle correct. :,,]
I'm also fixing/brainstorming up the second/third ending. This one will have two different areas you can navigate through to get an idea of where you are and a few hints of lore that will be referenced later on in the game. Those that have played the [Extended Demo] you probably know which ones I'm talking about. >;]
I already like the idea of them but for one of the paths, I didn't have enough time to branch it out and make backgrounds for it in the [Extended Demo] so here's a peek of a placeholder since I'm still sketching stuff out, nothing is finalized yet. :[]
Super close to the cabin section, yay! I actually miss writing/drawing out the segments in the cabin a whole bunch so I really can't wait to fix up that part once I'm done with the swamplands. :,,]
I said last week I'd post some of the new backgrounds/areas so here you go:
Kofi update:
I also had a small talk with my play testers and one of the things they brought up is that I should be promoting my ko-fi better so from now on I'll have little mini doodles doing so at the end of every game development post as a way to promote it! :] All donations and tips help tremendously while I work on the game. If you like what I create, please consider supporting what I do here! I was able to use previous tips to get a new wrist support brace when I'm drawing so a very big thank you to everyone who gave a tip! :,,]
Q&A / Ask box is open:
If you have any questions about Trembling Essence/Noah feel free to ask here or on itch.io please. This makes it easier for me to see and answer accordingly! I would really like to hear from you guys!
I enjoyed answering the asks I got recently this week! I'm trying to finish the rest when I can including the ones I remember that got deleted. There were some I genuinely couldn't answer because it would require me to mention major spoilers/the questions have spoilers in them. :,]
This post is getting really long now so that's all I have to discuss, thank you guys very much for all of the encouraging support this past week, I appreciate it a whole bunch! :,,]

Does the "This is all a dream orchestrated by Malleus" relate to the Yuuverse with all the Yuus repeatedly going through the story over and over again? I have seen people theorize that every time a Yuu fails, a new one starts over and I'm too sleepy to actually relate this theory to the new events that just transpired.
I think youâre talking about two popular but different theories? đ¤ (Though now it definitely seems like those two theories are converging into oneâŚ?)
There were some that believed in the time loop theory. Some powerful entity (usually said to be Crowley) summons new Yuus every time the Yuu from the previous time loop fails and/or dies. It is said that the resets usually occur when Yuu is killed by an Overblot, with the most common âdeath by Overblotâ owing to Grim. Some also embellish the theory with ideas about Crowleyâs motives and whether he is a good person or not.
There is an extension of time loop theoryâthe âYuu is deadâ theory; in âYuu is deadâ, the player character is theorized to be someone who died while crossing the road (yup, an isekai classic; the manga and light novel Yuu all got transported at a crosswalk), and Crowley summoned them into Twisted Wonderland after their passing to serve his own needs. Sometimes people will point to Yuu emerging from a coffin and/or Crowley avoiding the topic of bringing them home (since itâs impossible due to their âdeadâ status) as proof of Yuu being dead. Both time loop and Yuu is dead theory primarily stem from the many iterations of Yuus across various official TWST media (the manga, the light novel, etc).
Others believed in the dream theory, in which (much like the original Alice in Wonderland), everything in Twisted Wonderland is just a dream that someone is having. There are variations of the dream theory depending on who the dreamer is, but the most common ones Iâve seen assign the designation of dreamer to either Yuu (who has been having prophetic dreams in the main story) and Malleus (whose Disney counterpart is strongly associated with inducing sleep). Sometimes dream theory also includes evidence backed up by Silver, who appears to have some kind of vague association with Yuu and their dreams. It is worth noting that some fans do not like dream theory because they feel that it devalues the experiences had and the relationships formed if nothing was ârealâ.
As I said before (given what we know of the most recent main story update), it seems like people are now combining different aspects of those two theories to make a new one. The update is still pretty fresh, so I havenât yet had the time to read up and acclimate myself with the various time loop-dream theory combinations.
One thing that I will note is interesting is??? I remember Yana saying a few years ago that we should treat TWSTâs events and vignettes as AUs separate from the main story, and at the time I thought it was to make things easier for the writing team (so they didnât have to worry about timeline stuff). But now???? Iâm wondering if every event and vignette was actually a part of the dream world⌠The evidence is (sort of??) there!!
I normally wouldnât include gameplay mechanics as part of a theory (since I compartmentalize meta from the story/characters/lore), but I feel that the gloves are off for this since Malleus initiated what was essentially a fourth-wall break at the end of 7-37 (booting us back to the main screen of Twisted Wonderland after forcing everyone to sleep). The part where he casts his spell is even named âForced Game Overâ, which is very on the nose for a character who is not tied to technology other than being really bad at using it. He also says a lot of foreboding things about how âit would be better for fictional characters to stay as they are foreverâ (not an exact translation, Iâm just generalizing).
AnYWAY, my thought is??? Are the events and/or vignettes meant to be the characters dreaming (not that Malleus necessarily created the dream world, but the dream world is like their collective unconscious and/or everyone having individual dream/their own iterations)???? Because Malleus promises to send them to a world where they can be âheroesâ, a place where they can find âhappy endingsâ, where no one has to leave. Most events and/or vignettes have very carefree vibes to them or just generally non-serious conflicts. Theyâre usually full of tales of carefree school days.
The vignettes and events also being part of the dream world also explains why Lilia (whose magic was supposedly waning is still able to use his quite proficiently), and why some characters who would normally be somewhat hostile towards each other seem more mellowed out in some events (ie Epel and Vil having an amicable relationship in the first Halloween event when they didnât learn to get along until episode 5, which takes place in late winter). It would also explain why sometimes main story happenings are referenced in vignettes and events, but the vignette and event happenings are not mentioned in the main story. Characters are bringing knowledge of reality into the dreams, but when they âawakenâ from those dreams, they cannot recall all the details from them.
Another detail thatâs pretty suspicious is the animation that plays when youâre Groovying a card đď¸ đ đď¸ What covers the screen when you do??? Thatâs rightâthorns, just like when Malleus casted his unique magic. Was this TWSTâs indirect way of cluing us in that the whole damn game was just a dream?????? The title whenever we boot up the game was staring at us in the face with the âanswerâ all along: Twisted Wonderland. A dreamy place full of wondersâbut just that, a dream.

First off your Chapelle show gif is incredibly cursed đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
I literally just had a Tyrone biggum's skit playing in my head. (Also kept writing tyrone bigbums for some reason)
But I've wondered dk of this has been asked yet. As far as i can tell the community here is very much restricted and sex is for making babies for workers.. dark shit.. like carrying a kid in your body is a walk in the park đ
But do marriages exist at all? Probably not. I'm excited for them to talk about that whole concept if not and about having a normal family setting with kids being raised by their parent's the way families are in literally especially since i just read a littles book to my toddler about families. It had all these different family dynamics of different cute cartoon animals.
Sorry, i got sidetracked. lmao. But also my real question was about same sex relationships and if relationships are so taboo in gen how these annoying ass guards at the top would actually see relationships like that and how the community as a whole would react to them.
Hi phantom! Thanks for the fix, er, ask. đ
Ironically, I think same sex relationships wouldnât be a problem; itâs the relationship itself thatâs the problem. Youâre correct in that sex is just for procreation purposes, so relationships, of any kind, are superfluous. If you do ever manage to change this city and have relationships, ironically, I can see them being open to same sex relationships. Itâs easier when starting from nothing because you donât have any preconceptions to overcome. At least, Iâd like to think so.
And nope, marriages donât exist, but the MC and ROs would definitely have read about them. And since you were kind enough to send me an ask when I was desperate đ
you get a little sneak peak at a convo on Lionâs route where that concept is actually hinted at a little, depending on playerâs choice. đ
