the one thing that will forever have me shunning the whole "buck and eddie are just a strong male friendship" shit, is the Elf scene. Time after time we see these strong male friendships be accused of dating each other or even fake dating each other and its constantly played as a joke or funny. Maybe its constantly the butt of a joke (trobed, chandler and joey) or theres a laugh track or the music is lighthearted or maybe the entire scene is just one big joke/bit (nick and schmidt) but either way its always always played as a very obvious joke. Except for the elf scene™️. Theres nothing there at all to suggest it was a joke or a throwaway line or a gag. it is quite literally filmed in the most queer romcom way possible. even the MUSIC sounds romantic. take the elf scene and compare it to ANY other "strong male friendship" being accused of being a couple scene and it is DRASTICALLY different. Buck doesn't vehemently deny it or jokingly lean into it. he's kind of confused yeah but nothing about the scene shows that he's upset by it or thinks its funny, if anything it shows that he kinda LIKED it.

I think it's super interesting how Jimmy's fear of Anya and the baby manifests in his mind as the Pony Express mascot.

Unlike every other character, Anya ISN'T in Jimmy's guilt/regret hallucinations near the end. He sees Daisuke walk towards the dark, he sees Swansea chase him through a cemetery, he sees Curly on fire in front of him but ANYA? Anya isn't given that kind of treatment. No, instead, we see a hallucination of the baby, a tiny horse in a womb that has no face attached to it (Anya's face specifically, all he sees is the womb), turning into a deformed monster that hunts him down the moment it's born.

Polle (the baby) is seen as a danger in Jimmy's head in the beginning of the game too, after he walks out of the cockpit. The more he walks, the louder the baby noises get and the more deformed Polle looks when he runs into it!

Jimmy doesn't give a damn about Anya, nor does he regret anything he did to her, but he is scared of that baby and what it means. The living proof of what he did to Anya, manifesting as a monster that hunts him down throughout the game.

please can we stop describing bigots as delusional. please. im so fucking tired. someone being sucked into a hate group surrounded by others who believe minorities should be oppressed and encouraging them to believe in conspiracy theories that the rest of the group believes, is fundamentally different from someone having a mental illness that causes delusions.

delusions, by definition, cannot be explained by things like cultural background - such as having a belief constantly reinforced by intentional attempts to rationalize it for the sake of maintaining power over minorities. yes, someone can be both delusional and a bigot, and yes conspiracy theories can feed into delusions, but the two are not fucking synonymous.

i did not spend my teen years convinced that i was being stalked by demons just to hear so many of you people equate my disability with incel behavior and genocidal propaganda. stop reinforcing harmful connotations about mental health struggles.

I really love the subtle details in this scene.

I always thought this part was meant to show Vox holding Val as if they just finished a handshake after succesfully filming a new movie. Business stuff. But upon examination it looks like something else.

When the scene starts he is just starting the holding, and he brings their hands close to his chest, cordial pose as an old timely gentleman, smiling and looking attentively at the other. Val is first neutral but quickly places his other arm in his hip, as if pleased or simply content.

Vox clearly only lowers their hands because he noticed Angel, as his eyes move in his direction before he changes his body language: He drops his smile and shoulders quickly, and only rises them back up after Val turns around, but now as if tense and looking at his peer unpleased. (When he was the one that alerted Val with his glance in Angel's direction...)

Then he zaps away, but in no moment he lets go of the moth's hand, and even seems to pull him just a tiny bit, because Val's hand opens entirely before he unmaterializes completely. (When there is the possibility he could just poof away without affecting Val's form in any way, like when in a sci-fi show you are holding something before it dissapears and your hand just stays bent as if still holding it, no changes to it itself!)

Then Val leaves, after he being the one looking unpleased now. And it's a bit striking to me, because he's always putting a smiling façade at Angel unless he's mad. (Idunno why he looks at him like that in this occasion. Maybe because he already got what he wanted from him that night? But that's probably another topic...)

I think it looks like a lot of effort for something that could have easily been shortened by making Vox just stare at Angel bothered as he zapped away, as if he just interrupted them in official matters, so I appreciate it.
