Got sidetracked by binging Ted Lasso, but now I’m really focusing on my Star Wars rewatch. I have yet to watch bad batch s2 so in my lead up to watching that and in anticipation of the Ashoka series in august, I’m rewatching key clone and Ashoka episodes in TCW before rewatching s1 of bad batch and then s2. I’ll rewatch rebels and try to read the Ashoka novel before August. I’m relatively confident I could bang all this out in a couple weeks, but since I’m finishing up my last grad school class and I want to enjoy summer weather, I’ll be doing it more slowly. But I also hope this means I can blog my impressions of each episode with meaningful observations

I finished Rebirth! The last leg of the game gave big KH vibes imo (the name of the last chapter (End of the World) is even the name of the last level/world in KH1). But that ending was crazy. Does Cloud, like, know Aerith is dead, or is he so deep in denial that he thinks she’s alive?

I was having trouble sleeping again.

I was losing time, too. I would get lost in thoughts I couldn't grasp, staring at the wall or out the window until something pulled me out of it. Most of the time it was a buzz from my comm telling me I had another message to answer.

I was wallowing. I needed to shake things up. I couldn't remember how I managed to keep myself busy before.

I found myself searching for the candles I'd found, but I didn't have a way to light them. I hadn't collected any gravel or flint when I'd gone mining.

And they were the wrong color regardless. Even if I couldn't remember what color they should be.

I abandoned the candles where they sat, grabbing my tools and some food as I stumbled out the door. I wanted different colors of wood to work with, and I hadn't gone far yesterday.

It was time for me to do some proper exploration.

There was old growth birch, along with more of those little cocoons everywhere.

I found more weird fruit trees-- they were easy to spot among the trees, with different leaves standing out like a sore thumb.

Turns out I didn't have to figure this all out completely on my own. There was a section in my comm for identifying stuff. It pulled up my camera, and when I pointed it at something I didn't know the name of, it obliged.

There were figs and apples and oranges and pears, along with more kiwi, and a smaller bush that yielded 'lemons.' The lemon was especially bitter and sour. I spit it out the moment I'd tried it.

I also found a bush that dropped yellow seeds. My comm called it 'corn'.

They were edible, but hard. they would probably work something like wheat. The bread I had was nice, but it was bread. With all the new foods I was finding, surely I could make something with them.

I just had no idea how.

I also stumbled across a roofed forest.

Apart from a jungle, that meant I had access to all the different types of wood I cared about.

Acacia could go rot in the savanna where it belonged.

I found sugarcane, and a patch of alliums that turned out to be something else entirely. It looked like another 'wild' crop, called an onion.

A nibble told me it was edible, but it tasted somewhere between bitter and sour.

I put others in my inventory and set about collecting everything I could carry from the roofed forest.

The mushrooms would also be a great source of food, and now if I got hurt there would be the option of making suspicious stew for any injuries that were too bad to just let heal on their own.

And the berries! I found a new type of berry. My comm said it was a cranberry? It looked so similar to sweetberries that I thought they were right until i put one in my mouth.

It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do.

Cranberries weren't as sweet as a sweetberry, but they were just as delicious once you got over the mouth-twisting sour burst.

There was a simple, giddy joy in trying to eat anything I found that seemed edible.

My pockets were getting full now, so I decided that was enough exploring for the day.

I took a swim in the ocean on my way back to grab handfuls of kelp and to clean the mud off of both me and my dress. I would be salty later but it was refreshing now.

It was time to start a farm. I would be out of bread sooner than later, and it would be good to have something to take care of.

And with crops came the ability to raise animals.

I was so close to having everything I would need.

Sometimes I wish I could write faster. I wish I could sit down and complete a story within a month's time. Like come on, this fic is taking so long I want it to be polished already so that I can allow myself to work on other fics. I have way too many ideas to just sit and write one at a time but my time management sucks already. I ain't about to introduce two projects into my schedule cause neither would be finished.

But come on brain - chop chop - 10 chapters left to draft. I really want to finish it before university. That would be preferable.

We got so much stuff done today holy cow.

I made sure to grab whatever crystal I could find on my metal runs and got the greenhouse built, mowed the yard for seeds and got it planted. We already had some Z seeds so I planted 3 of them, the third is out in the yard for healing purposes. \o/

We had a couple diplo babies I'd grabbed yesterday so I got them raised between farming trips, so now I can use them for the metal runs and bring back a ton more. \o/

I did my combing-the-river trip and got some crabs! First baby I found was a male 105, then found a 45 with a female baby and grabbed her too. I will probably upgrade them at some point if I find higher levels but for now they'll do nicely.

And I found another 120 ravager, then ran across a pack with a 140 female and 145 male! The male tamed up with really good stats too, so we'll just breed him with all 3 girls and have a pack in no time. :D

Kel got home and online to help with the last couple ravagers, then we went after a 135 female spino I'd spotted earlier and got her too, so we can breed a pair of imprinted spinos now and go after rock drakes. Gonna farm up whatever we need for our hazard suits tomorrow, then start planning our trip to the trench. \o/

And we ended the day with a trip into the blue for an anky, it took forever to find one but we got one and now I can stop wearing out my poor pick. XD
