The really fun movie I was watching turned out to not be a "character overcomes and wins!" but a "character goes full horror in a final dovespin", and I feel a bit like a stick in the mud because clearly the movie did it on purpose, they wanted this to be a horror and they wanted to end on that note, but... and I know my biases as not a horror fan are showing... the other story was so much better. And they ruined it for a horror ending that doesn't mesh well with the rest of the movie at all.

Fic: Drowning Like A Stone
On AO3 @ https://archiveofourown.org/works/40760538
Summary:
“Your life is so weird, Chay,” Ohm finally said. He tried to reach for the story — the lie — that Chay told him, and make it the truth. “Having a secret celebrity boyfriend wasn’t enough, you had to go and get kidnapped by, um, ‘loansharks,’ too?”
He’d hoped that showing he would go along with their would put them at ease, but it did the opposite. Chay’s face crumpled again as he flinched away, while Porsche frowned in confusion.
“Boyfriend?” he asked, bewildered, before looking down at Chay. “You have a boyfriend?”
Ohm opened his mouth to answer, but Chay cut him off with, “Not anymore.”
-
Five outside perspectives on Chay falling apart, and one introspective from Chay trying to put himself back together again.
So guess who just realized I never actually promoted this fic on Tumblr until now?
Pre-KimChay but Chay-centric for now. (Sequel will be Kim-centric.)
All Five Chapter Previews at once:
Chapter 1: Ohm
For a few moments, they were silent, because what was Ohm supposed to say to that? To any of this? “I saw that picture of your hair,” Ohm tried. Was that because of his break-up with Wik? Or because of the interview? Or was it the whole thing with his brother? Or had Arthee already been dead and Chay was only just now telling them?
…when Ohm thought of it like that, Chay was going through a lot, lately.
Chapter 2: Som
I fucked up and didn't realize the actor who was dyeing Chay's hair and taking him to the club was the same as the one at the open-house event with him. So, uh, meet Ohm's cousin Som!
“You’re sure he didn’t hurt you?”
“Yes!” Chay threw his hands up in frustration. “Why do you keep asking me that?”
“Put yourself in our shoes for a second,” Som said, trying to step forward again. Chay didn’t flinch this time, thank fuck. “If one of your friends had a nasty break-up, but then her ex-boyfriend stalked her, punched strangers away from her, and dragged her away by the wrist even when she didn’t want to leave…what kind of boyfriend would you assume he had been towards her?”
Chapter 3: Porsche I
Porsche started to pull away, but Chay’s grip tightened around him. To the side, Yok jerked away from the scene, fleeing back into her office.
“Take them all to the hospital morgue,” Porsche ordered, wincing when he felt Chay cringe against him. But this was his life, now. He couldn’t just ignore this work, and he couldn’t let go of Chay, and the end result was cuddling his baby brother into his blood-covered chest while telling mafia staff what to do with half a dozen dead bodies. “We had a conflict earlier today at the main compound, and now the morgue there is all full.”
Chapter 4: Porsche II
“A part of me wants to hug you for saving Chay’s life,” Porsche admitted. He tamped down on a smug smile when Kim’s gaze snapped back up to Porsche’s face. “The rest of me, though, kind of wants to take advantage of this convenient privacy you just gave us and drown you in the toilet for breaking Chay’s heart so badly.”
Kim laughed joylessly, a harsh and wet sound only a few steps removed from a sob.
“I deserve that.”
At least he had the decency to admit it.
Chapter 5: Big I
“The mole, Ken, he was…well, I thought he was my best friend. But we still don’t know why or for how long he fed information to Khun Gun. It’s possible that-” Big faltered, then re-gathered himself. “That our entire friendship was a lie.”
Big still didn’t know if he hoped it was, or if he hoped it wasn’t.
“I’m going over every minute of our friendship,” Big admitted for the first time. “Trying to figure out when something changed, or if any of it was real.”
“I’m sorry,” Chay murmured, his hands falling to his sides. “That’s…awful.” He dropped his gaze to his shoes, his blue-tinted bangs falling to obscure his face. “It’s not the same at all, but someone I thought cared for me turned out to have used me, too. It hurt a lot when I found out, but at least back then I didn’t have to worry about trying to figure out when things changed: I knew it was a lie the whole time. I didn’t think until now that it could have been worse.”

sherlock x reader
hello! thank you for your request :) I hope you'll like it, don't forget to give me some feedback!

Tumblr media
It was another day sitting at home, another day without a case in sight.
Not having cases disturbed Sherlock the most - but it actually made it worse for everyone around him.
Bored Sherlock had two moods only: he was either like a child high on sugar, always moving around and not being able to stop, or was just sprawled on his armchair, complaining about how bored he was and how boredom didn’t fit geniuses like him and how it made his brain itchy to not use it at its full capacities.
He occasionally shoot the wall too, what caused you to almost die multiple times, because he could of course do it during the day when you took your shower aswell as at night at three.
Right now, it was the second option. He was laying on his armchair, his head jerked on the back of it, facing the ceiling. He had been whining for what seemed to be hours.
“Why can’t anyone get murdered ?!” he shouted before instantly getting up.
“Just so you can get a case ?” John frowned.
“Exactly ! They’re so selfish. You don’t understand how bored I am right now.”
“Oh Sherlock I promise you we can.” you sighed, not bothering to look up from your book.
He frowned.
“Why’d you look so fed up ?” he asked squinting.
You put your book down and took a deep breath. “I don’t know, maybe because you’ve been whining for hours just because you’re bored ?! Stop acting like a child and get a hobby that doesn’t involve someone dying !” you said standing up in front of him.
“It’s not my fault my high intelligence can’t take doing ordinary stupid things like you-”
“Sherlock, a client downstairs !” Mrs Hudson came in. Sherlock’s face lit up. “Oh- am I interrupting something ?”
“Oh no you’re doing god’s work, they were starting a fight. Bring the client in” John said smiling at her.
Mrs Hudson nodded and left to go downstairs, and you turned to give Sherlock a death glare before leaving the living room to head to your shared bedroom, upset the man had just openly insulted your intelligence.
It had been ten minutes since you had locked yourself in the bedroom. But you felt kinda dumb because you realized you had forgotten your book, leaving you with nothing to do.
You just planneed to go back and snatch the book, and immediately go back to the bedroom. You were still upset by Sherlock’s remark, and you didn’t want to wander in the same room as him right now.
You crossed the kitchen, spotting your book. But after looking around at the scene, you couldn’t believe your eyes and you just froze there.
The client looked at you, before raising his eyebrows in surprise.
“Y/N ! You alright ? What are you doing here ?” he asked, sounding rather happy to see you.
“Anthony…?” you stuttered, feeling your cheeks rising hot.
Sherlock glared furtively at you, not quite comprehending what had just happened. You looked back at the other man, still definitely shocked. It was unsuspected to see him here, sat on your couch in your flat with your boyfriend sitting three feet across him.
“Hum yeah I’m fine. I guess. Yeah” you said still not moving from your spot, between the kitchen and the living room. You were feeling kind of overwhelmed and the atmosphere felt really heavy but awkward at the same time.
“What’s… Going on ?” John asked turning around, his look wandering from the client to you.
“Well, meet my, uh, ex. The last one. Made me cry a lot” you said chuckling awkwardly, trying to defuse the tension.
Sherlock quickly looked at your ex, and you knew the situation was getting complicated.
It took you really long to get over him, and you were obviously really in love with Sherlock but seeing that man again brought back many memories you’d never be able to forget.
These feelings towards Anthony weren’t love or attraction or whatever; it was just nostalgia, but it hit hard enough for you to freeze and to not be able to do anything right now.
Sherlock looked back at you, and you weren’t able to decrypt his body language. You didn’t know if he was concerned, confused or angry.
Maybe another perk of having a low IQ, not being able to deduce anything from anyone in a really short amount of time just by looking at them.
You decided to cut the scene short, definitely embarrassed enough.
“I gotta go… back. Bye.” you blurted out.
“Message me again sometime ?” Anthony suggested.
“I doubt this will be necessary” Sherlock said out of nowhere. “Mind if we get back to the case ?” he continued.
Anthony looked back at him. “Sure.”
You left the room, going back to your bedroom, still with no book, and you felt even more dumb.
“And this is why I need your help.” Anthony finished, done with pitching the consulting detective and his doctor.
Sherlock sighed.
“Well thank you. We are not taking the case. You can leave”
John glared at him, raising his eyebrows in incomprehension.
On the contrary but for the same reason, Anthony frowned, thinking the consulting detective would definitely take the case.
“Alright, and why that ?” he asked with a chuckle, offended his request was being declined.
“I will not elaborate.” Sherlock said standing from his armchair, grabbing the client’s coat and handing it to him.
“You serious mate ?!” Anthony said, starting to get angry.
“Leave.” Sherlock hissed, looking at him dead in the eye.
The man stood up from the couch, disappointed. He snatched his coat from Sherlock’s hands and left, closing the door behind him.
The consulting detective sat back in his armchair, followed by his bestfriend’s gaze.
“Why didn’t you take that bloody case ! You’ve been hanging there without one for days and now that someone comes up with something you’re just declining it ?!” John threw at his bestfriend, who was hiding behind the newspaper he had already read.
“The man is a threat.”
“What ?” John asked.
“Yes. A threat.”
“To ?”
“Me.”
“Sherlock what do you mean” John asked sighing.
“What I mean is” he threw the newspaper to the side and stood up. “My girlfriend’s ex came here and expected me to take his case after he offered her to get in touch again. She looked nervous and overwhelmed which means she’s not sure of what she should do with him. Plus he looked like… an arse.” he hissed, heading to the kitchen.
John chuckled and shook his head in despair.
“So you are like… jealous ?” he said trying to stay serious, even thought he couldn’t help but smile a little.
Sherlock turned to his bestfriend and frowned.
“Me ? No. How ?” he asked looking confused. “Do you want tea ?” he said, trying to avoid the subject.
“Sherlock I cannot deduce people like you do but I definitely know you are being jealous right now. Oh god, he’s acting human” John chuckled once more.
“Oh John please” he rolled his eyes.
He put the kettle to boil and looked back at John.
“Am I wrong ? If you weren’t jealous you would have taken the case.”
“Whatever”
Sherlock left the kitchen and opened the bedroom door.
“Fancy some tea ?” he asked you.
You turned around, surprised to see him that soon, as you thought he was working on his case.
“Sure, but aren’t you supposed to be on a case ?” you asked.
“Declined it. I’ll find a better one”
You sighed and stood up from the bed.
“This is because of me isn’t it”
“No it’s not. Don’t worry about this” he smiled slightly.
You smiled back and placed yourself in front of him.
“I love you Sherlock. Very much. Don’t ever question it because of some random guy coming in for a case”
He laughed and put back a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“I know.” he said before kissing your lips tenderly. “I love you too”

Choose Me Instead II Draco Malfoy x Reader II Chapter 3 of 27: Honesty
Summary:  Pretending to be in a relationship with Draco Malfoy to get back at your ex might have not been the smartest idea you ever had. Especially during your last year of Hogwarts where you should be focusing on exams and your future plans. However, you were just pretending. There was no way in hell you could actually catch feelings for someone like Malfoy. … Right?
CHAPTER 2
A/N: I’ve come to the realization that I’ve changed so much in this story during the past few days and added some chapters that it can probably already count as a slow-burn fic. I guess. Not sure. Have fun! Thanks for the lovely feedback! I love you all to death <3
Words: 3583 Pairing: Draco Malfoy x female!Reader, post-war Warnings: mentions of sex, light swearing
Tumblr media
It was weird being back at Hogwarts. Something about it still didn’t feel right. After the war, it was unimaginable for you to come back here and finish school. But they took their time and closed it off for over a year. The school got rebuilt, the victims buried, the survivors tried to heal and move on. On the first anniversary of the end of the war, McGonagall – the new headmistress of Hogwarts – publicly announced that the school would open for the coming year and the seventh graders were given the chance to repeat their year.
You were excited about coming back and seeing your friends again, gaining a little bit of normalcy. School, homework, petty drama – you wanted nothing more than to be busy with all of those things. Yet something felt different when you stood in the Great Hall for the first time after your arrival. Something had changed. You had changed.
“You’re daydreaming again, Y/N.”
Ginny’s voice pulled you back into reality. Your best friend sat across from you with her eyebrows raised, chewing on a croissant.
“Tired,” you replied and smiled briefly.
“From what?”, she asked. “You left super early last night!”
“Yeah, because it was super boring.”
The redhead shook her head. “It was not! There was a fight between two Hufflepuffs and that’s the best indicator for a fun party.”
You chuckled. “Is it though?!”
“Or,” suddenly she put down her croissant. A devious smile appeared on her face and she began talking with a lowered voice: “Did you leave the party early with your date to –”
“I beg you to not finish that sentence, please!”
Ginny laughed. “Oh come on! McLaggen is kinda cute!”
“He’s awful.”
“He doesn’t need a good character to –”
“Ginny!” You playfully threw an apple at her. She caught it, laughing. “You’re the worst,” you said and shook your head.
Just when you wanted to change the topic, someone else started walked in. You stopped midsentence, staring at the couple who were coming down the hall, holding hands.
Ginny saw them too and she knew what you were about to do next. “Don’t, Y/N,” she said softly. “Stay here. At some point, you’ll have to face them. They’re our friends. He’s my brother. We have classes together now.”
You knew she was right. Yet, running away still seemed like a better option to you. Ginny sensed that, reached over the table and squeezed your hand. “Stay,” she repeated.
Ron and Hermione sat down right beside you, cheerfully wishing you a good morning. You didn’t reply but smiled at Harry instead who sat down next to Ginny and gave her a kiss. They were a cute couple and you were happy for the both of them. They finally found each other.
The four began to talk right away. It was still exciting to be in the same year as them, to finally share classes and spend so much time together. Well, not for you to be honest. You could happily live without seeing Ron every day.
You tuned out their conversation after a while, still debating whether or not you should leave the table. Your eyes drifted over the other students in the Great Hall and got stuck at the Slytherins. Not many people sat there as most of them had already finished breakfast. Before you knew what you were doing, you noticed he wasn’t here.
You felt a little sting of disappointment and frowned. Where did this came from? As if you cared about seeing Malfoy.
Saying that you didn’t replay that kiss in your mind over and over again would have been a lie. When you left the small room last night, you felt dizzy and confused. Yet you repeatedly told yourself that the kiss meant nothing. It happened so you didn’t get caught. Good god, it was Draco Malfoy, probably the last person in this school you wanted to kiss (well, besides McLaggen). So no. This kiss didn’t mean anything.
“Y/N?”, you turned your head when Hermione said your name.
“Why are you staring at the Slytherins?”, she asked.
You shrugged but the blush on your cheeks betrayed you. “No reason. I was thinking.”
She frowned. Ginny and Harry looked at each other in confusion.
“So? What is it?”, you asked.
“Right, um, we wanted to ask if you’d like to come play Quidditch with us?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Since when do you play Quidditch?”
“Ron taught me over the summer,” she smiled at her boyfriend. “Besides, they have to try out for the team in two weeks anyways so why not practice a little.”
You looked at Ron who stared at his plate. He probably felt as comfortable with the thought of you playing together as you did. The way he avoided your eyes made you angry though.
“No, sorry”, you quickly said and suddenly stood up. “Homework.” This was it. You had to leave.
 ***
You gritted your teeth angrily as you made your way up the stairs. God, you still hated him for how he treated you three months ago. You were supposed to be friends and he fucked it all up. Now you could barely stand the sight of him and every encounter left you feeling like you needed to punch a brick wall.
Being so lost in your thoughts, you almost ran around the corner, crashing into someone.
“Watch it, Y/L/N!”
Great.
“Watch it yourself, Malfoy!”, you snapped.
Draco Malfoy stood in front of you, one hand in the pocket of his pants, the other gripping your arm to prevent you from falling down. It must have been out of instinct because as soon as he realized he was touching you, he let go as if you were a hot plate.
“Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed,” he stated dryly.
“Shut up,” you mumbled, lowering the tone of your voice a little. “And let me through.”
He did neither. “Did McLaggen find you after all?!”
“None of your business, Malfoy!” With that, you pushed him aside and continued walking down the corridor. You were too mad for Malfoys bullshit.
“Y/L/N!” Apparently he was particular talkative this morning.
You ignored him.
“I couldn’t care less for your obvious boy troubles –”
Who did he think he was?!
“– however, I still have something that belongs to you.”
This made you stop dead in your tracks and turn around. “What?”, you asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
He smirked. “Your shoe.”
Oh. Oops.
Annoyed, you shrugged. “So give it back to me.”
“It’s in the Slytherin common room.”
“I’d rather die than go down there.”
“I’d change the attitude if I were you. After all, you want something from me,” his voice grew colder.
You were unimpressed by that. “Make me,” you shot back.
There it was again – that look on his face. The same look he had yesterday as he gazed over your body in the small room. It made you shiver – and for a second you weren’t sure if it was the good or the bad kind of shiver.
Then he smirked again: “Quidditch field. Tonight after dinner.” And while he already started walking backwards he added: “I’d rather die than be caught talking to a Gryffindor.”
Goddamn Slytherins.
***
It was unusually cold for a September night. You shivered and zipped up your jacket, regretting that you didn’t bring a scarf. No student or teacher seemed to be outside at this time, only the occasional crow flying above your head and the rustling of leaves accompanied you on your way to the Quidditch field.
The reason why Malfoy chose the Quidditch field of all places to give you back your shoe was beyond your knowledge. Yet you didn’t complain. In about half an hour, your friends would join you. Before the war, this was one of your favourite spots to just hang out and talk.
When you arrived on the field, it took you a while to spot Malfoy. He sat way up on the bleachers. You groaned and made your way up the stairs. Malfoy didn’t notice that you came as he was busy writing something in a small green notebook. Huh. Interesting.
He flinched when you sat down beside him and quickly closed the book.
“What are you writing?”, you asked curiously.
Malfoy pretended not to hear your question and instead reached inside his bag. “Here,” he pulled out your shoe, handing it to you.
“Thanks,” you put in the small bag you brought. “So what are you writing?”
He looked at you with an annoyed expression. “You have what you want so you can go.”
“You’re no fun, Malfoy.”
“Says the Gryffindor.”
“Excuse me?”, you raised an eyebrow. “We’re more fun than all the Slytherins combined.”
“Right,” he scoffed.
Still, you didn’t move or leave so with a sigh, he added: “Do you have no friends to bother?”
You grinned. “I do. In fact, they’ll be here in –”, you took a look at your watch, “– twenty minutes.”
Malfoy rolled his eyes. “Perfect.”
“Why did you tell me to meet you here?”
“I was gonna be here anyways,” he shrugged. “Easier to make you come to me.”
You ignored his sly remark. “You were going to be here anyways? Alone?”
Another shrug.
Leaning back, you watched Malfoy from the side. He had dark circles under his eyes and kept his gaze focused on the field, his fingers playing with the sides of the notebook. Something (beside you sitting next to him) bothered him.
“So what was up with you this morning?”, he broke the silence.
You raised an eyebrow. “As if you care.”
“No,” he admitted. “But you’re obviously not leaving until your friends come and that question might make you stop staring at me.”
You chuckled softly. Then you realized that he was actually waiting for an answer. “Nothing important.”
“I figured.”
“You’re a jerk.”
“Probably,” Malfoy stated without any emotion in his voice.
You were silent for a few seconds. Part of you wanted to get up and leave. After all, Malfoy was probably the last one you could trust. He didn’t care and it was literally none of his business. You didn’t even like each other. Keeping it simple and vague was probably the best approach: “Dumb stuff, really. Like you said – boy troubles.”
Malfoy shifted without noticing it, turning his body more towards you, leaning in a little. “Well, now I’m curious. Who managed to make Y/L/N this mad and can he teach me?”
“I don’t know if you’re keen on Ron being your teacher,” the sentence just slipped out. You regretted it right away.
Malfoys eyes widened. “No fucking way.” Then he began to smirk – that evil, ‘I’m-better-than-you’-smirk he had perfected over the years.
Your face felt like it was on fire and you were glad it was getting dark already. Maybe he wouldn’t notice the blush. “Oh, be quiet!”
“Weasley?”, he scoffed, not believing it. He stared at you with quite the interest now. There seemed to be a lot more to you than he would have guessed. “How the fuck did that happen? Isn’t he dating the … isn’t he dating Granger?”
You knew what he wanted to call her but were surprised that he stopped himself. That never happened before.
“Yes, he is,” you mumbled and gave him a suggestive look.
This caused Malfoy to laugh. It was a dry, short laugh. He leaned back a little. “You’re kidding, right? Fucking hell, Weasel managed to not only screw you but do so while dating Granger?”
“I like how eloquently you phrased that,” you said sarcastically.
He ignored you. “How did that happen?”
“Okay, first of all”, you began, “… they weren’t dating when it happened. I’m not a homewrecker, that’s probably more of a Slytherin thing.”
“Does she know?”
“Know what?”
“Does Granger know you two f–”
“Geez, Malfoy, watch your language,” you interrupted him quickly, before you added: “And no.”
“So cheating isn’t a Gryffindor thing but lying is?”, Malfoy concluded, smirking again. “Good to know.”
“Oh, shut up,” you raised your chin. You were right about this in the beginning – you shouldn’t have told him anything. How were you supposed to get this right? Even though there was no reason for you to explain yourself to him, you still felt the need to: “They were going through a crisis and broke up and well … I spent a few weeks with their family and I always considered Ron a good friend but … but something happened. And then he ended things with me and got back together with Granger. Well, he got back together with her first and announced it in front of everyone, including me.”
“That’s how he told you that you two were over?”
You nodded. “Yup.”
“Phew,” Malfoy let out a whistle. “Wow. I must admit, I’m impressed.”
“Sure you are.”
Suddenly Malfoys facial expression changed from amusement to confusion. “So what’s the big deal now? You two screwed a few times and now he’s playing house with Granger again.”
You sent him another suggestive glance which caused him to let out another laugh.
“Please don’t tell me you got feelings for the Weasel,” he said in complete disbelief. Then his eyes suddenly began to wander further down and you realized he was looking at your … body. Rude. Before you got the chance to put him in his place, he simply said: “You can do a lot better, y’know.”
Oh. This was unexpected. You felt a blush creeping up your cheeks again and felt actually a little flattered by his words. Yet, they confused you. Why would he give a Gryffindor a compliment?! Was there a hidden insult in it? Maybe a slight undertone you didn’t notice?
“It goes without saying that this conversation stays between us,” you cleared your throat. “No one knows about this whole mess except Ginny. And you.”
Malfoy nodded. “You put an awful lot of trust in me.”
“Don’t disappoint me then.”
The two of you were quiet for a few moments. It was almost completely dark by now and a nervous glance to your watch made you aware that Ginny and the rest of her friends might appear any second now. The silence grew uncomfortable after a while.
“What’s up with that whole engagement thing, you mentioned yesterday?”, you wanted to know, remembering that weird comment of him. “And don’t act all mysterious again. I told you my mess now you have to share yours.”
Malfoy snorted. “Ask away.”
This was easier than expected. “Are you dating the little Greengrass?” Totally understandable if he was – Astoria was the perfect mixture of smart and drop dead gorgeous. A lot of guys were into her.
“No.”
“She called you ‘honey’.”
“Yes.”
You frowned. “I’m confused.”
“Do I really have to explain to you how pureblood marriages work?”, Malfoy said with a mocking undertone.
“Of course not. I just thought we left that behind us when the war ended”, you remarked.
He gave a dismissive wave of his hand. “As if hundreds of years of tradition can be forgotten with one war.”
“So you’re forced to marry her?”, you tried to understand the situation better.
“No, it’s an arranged marriage which is not even official yet,” Malfoy shifted slightly. “Mother would like it because the Greengrass family is still respected and …”
“… rich.”
He glanced at you quickly. “We lost a lot.”
“I bet,” you scoffed.
Abruptly, Malfoy got up and grabbed his bag. “I should leave.”
Out of instinct, you extended your hand to reach for him but stopped just inches in front of his arm. “No, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that”, you apologized. Feelings of guilt and pity appeared inside of you as you didn’t expect him to be so openly hurt by what you said. “I heard … well, everyone heard about the trials and your parents and all that. Sorry.”
Malfoy hesitated but then sat down again. His whole demeanour had changed in just seconds. He had almost been … approachable but now the look in his eyes was as cold as ice again.
You cleared your throat. “Do you want to marry her?”
He didn’t answer right away. You wondered what went through his head in this moment.
“I don’t ask myself that.”
The answer didn’t surprise you. “Why not?”, you tried to dig deeper.
Again, a few seconds passed before he mumbled: “No, I don’t want to marry her. I hardly know her.”
“Hmm,” you nodded. “Does she want to marry you?”
“I don’t know”, he gave a half shrug. “She had a thing with Zabini over the summer so I guess … I’m probably not her first choice.”
The answer to all of his problems seemed so easy, you thought. Yet it would be met with much apprehension. Traditional pureblood families like his were difficult when it came to this stuff.
Knowing what his reaction would be, you still had to say it: “So don’t get engaged.” Before he could reply, you raised your hand. “Yeah, I know, traditions and all that bullshit. Why don’t you just start breaking traditions?”
Malfoy shook his head. “My family works a little different than yours.
“Not that different to be honest”, you whispered under your breath.
He heard you and you were met with a very confused look. When you didn’t elaborate, he continued talking: “Anyways, I can’t. I could try to postpone but I’d need a very convincing reason.”
“Like?”
“Another girl from a good family.”
“And?”
“And what?”
A grin appeared on your face. “There are at least ten girls I can name right away who’d love to get a shot with you.”
Seriously, even most of the Gryffindor girls your age had been crushing on Malfoy at least once. He was very attractive and clever and that whole ‘bad boy’-act made quite a few girls weak in their knees. You had noticed this too but being so close friends with Ginny and Harry those thoughts never found room to grow inside of you. In your mind, Malfoy had always been an arrogant jerk. Still is, you corrected yourself quietly.
“Have you spoken with them since I became a –”
… a Death Eater, you finished the sentence in your head. Looking at the young man in front of you, wearing his school scarf while sitting in a sports stadium, the whole concept of him being a dangerous criminal just seemed absurd to you.
“Besides it’s a dumb idea”, he continued. “It would be a fake relationship and no one in their right mind would agree to that.” He let out a dry laugh. “Only a Gryffindor can think of something like that.”
In that moment, your eyes met. Never before did you notice the unusual colors in them like you did now. The piercing grey reminded you of storm clouds on an autumns day. Yeah, a fake relationship. Who in their right mind would … Unless …
The sudden thought that appeared in your mind made you flinch. He seemed to be thinking the same when he quickly broke the eye contact, straightening up and staring over at the field.
You got up in a rush, swinging your back over your shoulder. To your big relief, Ginny and your friends had just entered the Quidditch field. Their laughter echoed through the whole area.
„I should go. There’s Ginny.”
He nodded. “Right.”
“Thanks for the shoe.” Could this situation be any more awkward?! You doubted it. Hastily you turned around and almost stumbled over your own feet when you made our way back to the stairs. Something else came suddenly to your mind.
“Oh, and Malfoy?”, you stopped. He didn’t turn to look at you but you knew he heard you by the way he slightly moved his head. “I know a lot of fucked up stuff happened and pureblood families are the worst but … but don’t spend the rest of the year sitting here alone. I bet that there are still quite a few of your Slytherin friends that want to spend time with you.”
There was nothing you expected him to say in response to that so it surprised you when he suddenly said your name. “Y/L/N?”
“Yes?”
“Get over Weasley. It’s beneath you.”
You were glad he didn’t see the big grin on your face.
 ***
Ginny was surprised to see you coming down the stairs and running across the field. She wondered what you did up there and frowned when he saw a guy sitting there with the all too familiar white-blond hair.
“Is that Malfoy up there? Were you talking to him?”, she wanted to know when you finally reached the group.
“Oh, um,” you stuttered. “We ran into each other.
Ginny squinted her eyes. “Right”, she doubted. “How did you –”
Bang! You let out a short scream at the sudden noise.
“Sorry!” Someone shouted and a very distressed looking Seamus Finnigan appeared behind dark smoke.
“What the hell did you do?” Ginny squeaked and with that she forgot all about Malfoy.
You looked back up to where he was sitting just a minute ago. He was gone now. A weird feeling was left inside of you after the rather unusual conversation you had with the Slytherin. You shook your head, trying to get rid of it and turned your full attention back to your friends.

I hope you like it! I’d love to hear what you thought about it! <3

fire alarm
Thank you to @nicolanoodles for the prompt: “the fire alarm went off at 3 am and now the cute guy from the flat next door is standing next to me in his underwear AU”
AO3
Rating: G
Pairing: Levi x Petra
Petra groaned and rubbed her eyes as she slid into her slippers. Not again…She thought, throwing on her robe and grabbing her phone. She padded to her front door with not nearly as much haste as she probably should have, but she was tired. For the third time this week, her building’s fire alarm had gone off, and each time had been a false alarm. Something related to a new system, is what management told everyone, but it still didn’t make up for the fact that this was now the third night this week that she had woken up at 3 AM. By the time the firetrucks were called and the all clear was given, she barely fell back asleep before waking up at a prompt 5:30 AM to get ready for work.
Her coworkers and students commented on her ragged appearance, which made her all the more frustrated since she was usually known for her sunny disposition, but even she had her limits, and she was someone who valued her sleep. It didn’t help that she recently moved into the building so she had nearly another year before her lease was up, and she was so sure that this apartment would be the perfect fit for her modest salary and being a single woman.
Skirting down the stairs, Petra noticed her neighbors also lazily making their way back down, each of them with the same annoyed and dazed look. Petra knew most of the people on her floor, an elderly couple three doors down, a single mom and son across from her, and a young couple with an adorable Pomeranian that she often saw in the afternoons when she returned from work. There were a couple neighbors unaccounted for, and Petra assumed that their schedules never aligned, but she never had any noise complaints, which was the plus side to her floor.
The summer breeze hit her as she made her way onto the grass, the moistness catching her fluffy slippers and she grumbled, wondering if the apartment complex would reimburse her for physical and emotional damage. If anything, her students will be suffering tomorrow since Ms. Ral had been at the end of her rope all week, and one more student on the red zone would take away Friday’s movie afternoon. Clearly, lack of sleep made her heartless, but at this point she didn’t care, she wanted to get back into her bed.
Petra pulled up her Snapchat to show her friends that yet again, she would be in a bad mood all day. As she raised her phone to the apartment complex to snap a picture of the screeching disaster, she immediately noticed a man standing a few feet in front of her in his underwear. Well, his black boxer’s to be exact. He had flip flops on, and he wore a scowl equal to the people around him. His eyes focused in on her, and his grimace darkened.
They made eye contact and Petra yelped, immediately turning around and slapping her phone to the side of her leg and out of sight. Oh my god, he must think I’m such a perv. Don’t turn around, Petra. Even if he is hot and has a six pack, you were not taking a picture of him in his underwear!
“Oi,” a man said, tapping her shoulder, and she went hot.
Slowly turning around to meet her judgement, Petra went crimson as the man in the boxers stood in front of her. He was glaring (as he should, Petra thought) and pointed to her phone in her hand. He was only a few inches taller than her, maybe a just bit older too, with grey eyes and an undercut.
“What the hell?” He asked, and Petra found it very hard to breathe. The last time she was this close to a near naked man was her ex-boyfriend, and that was someone she knew very well. This was a stranger! A very sexy, are-his-muscles-photoshopped stranger.
Petra took a step back, squishing further into wet grass and she stuttered, “I-I wasn’t taking a picture of you. I was just taking a Snapchat to show my friends to complain. I would show you, but you know, Snapchat.”
The main raised an eyebrow, not buying her story, and she groaned. “I promise I’m not a pervert. You’re really attractive, but I’m not the type to snap pictures of random guys.”
He raised his eyebrows even further, the annoyance disappearing and his expression softened to something closer to amusement.
Realizing what she just said, hung over from lack of sleep, Petra clamped her mouth shut and took a deep sigh.
“Let me start over. Hi, my name is Petra. I live in 34C.” She extended her hand, hoping to get into the stranger’s good graces before he reported her for harassment.
The man shook her hand. “Levi. 34B.”
God, could this day get any worse? He was her freaking neighbor too?! One of the nameless ones that apparently worked opposite hours. Feeling lightheaded, Petra released his hand and stared at the ground in embarrassment.
Seemingly uncomfortable with their silence, Levi coughed. “This shit sucks,” he said, pointing his thumb at the firetrucks that started to pour in. They were a good 100 feet away from the building, but the noise was enough to give her a headache.
“Yeah,” Petra agreed lamely, her silk robe suddenly feeling too tight.
“How long have you been living here?” He asked.
“Just two months, I got a job in the area over the summer. You?”
“A year.”
“Oh, so are these things common? I’ve been meaning to ask around but I’m always so tired when they go off, but I’m not sure how much longer I can take it.”
“Not really, but it’s still fucking annoying. Not like we have work or anything,” he mumbled sarcastically, running his fingers through his hair.
Since the conversation had mellowed out and he didn’t seem as agitated at her, she allowed herself to peek at him, admiring his muscular features. Maybe he was a personal trainer? Or in the military?
“I know, right? I have to deal with so many brats in the morning, this week has been killing me,” she commiserated.
Levi seemed to smirk as she spoke, and she amended, “Not that I don’t like my students or anything! They can be a handful, but I usually really do like them when I’m not sleep deprived.”
“You’re a teacher?”
She nodded enthusiastically, “Third grade.”
“Wow,” he replied sincerely. “I couldn’t do that, too much noise.”
“What do you do?” She asked, feeling braver.
He crossed his arms, and Petra swallowed as the action highlighted his chest and biceps. “I’m a lawyer.”
“Oh! Like defense attorney stuff?”
“Child welfare,” he replied, looking to the side, and Petra’s heart melted. Hot and chivalrous? She had to tell Nanaba about him later.
“That’s amazing!” She said enthusiastically, nearly forgetting about his unclothed state, and she stepped closer to him. His eyes widened as the side of her robe brushed against his stomach, and she caught herself, giggling.
“Aha, sorry!” She pulled the straps tighter against her. “Can I ask why you’re in your underwear?” Don’t look near his groin, Petra. Don’t try to guess how big—
“I was asleep,” Levi deadpanned, as if it were obvious. Petra looked around them, wondering if anyone else was in a similar state of disarray, but most people were in their robes or threw on a jacket to cover themselves up. Seemingly, as if Levi could read her mind, “I never know if one of these things are real or not, so I just gun for it. I guess I should know by now, but it’s a pretty knee jerk reaction.”
“Do you want my robe?” She asked suddenly, feeling bad for him and maybe he was feeling self-conscious.
“Hell no. I’d rather be like this than be caught dead in your pink lingerie.”
Petra blushed furiously. “It is not lingerie! It’s a robe!”
He nodded, and with a teasing lilt to his tone, “Sure. With a v-neck cut out to show off your cleavage. Just a robe.”
She looked down at herself for the first time since putting on the ensemble, and she grew hotter noticing the lacy and thin tank top she was wearing. It was obvious to anyone looking at her up close that she wasn’t wearing a bra, and her sleep shorts cut off before her robe, making her look pants-less.
“Do you want to sit in my car and make out until the trucks leave?”
“W-What?!” Petra gaped, and she looked up to see Levi’s face lined in amusement, holding up his car keys.
“I’m kidding. I was actually going to sit in there before I saw you taking a picture of me. We’ve already seen each other half naked, so it isn’t too weird to sit in a car together.”
Not seeing how her night could get any more embarrassing, Petra nodded and found herself following Levi to his car in the adjacent lot. Maybe I should call out of work tomorrow…
“For the record, I definitely was not taking a photo of you.”
“I wouldn’t mind if you did, though.” He said, opening the door to his black sports car, and Petra’s heart thrummed in her chest, inhaling the leather.
Maybe the fire alarm going off wasn’t so bad.

Incorrect Order Chapter 3 (Nesssian AU)
Tumblr media
A/N: I'm very(read: kinda) sorry for cliffhanger last chapter. Do inform me if you wanna be added/removed from the taglist! If you happen to find my storyline similar to another fic or one of yours, I'm extremely sorry, I might've just not known. All characters belong to the author Sarah J. Mass. Enjoy!
Summary: Don't first impressions always affect the way you see someone? Well, what more with the Nesta Archeron? Nesta meets Cassian at few unexpected places and to say it didn't go well was a major understatement. Certain circumstances make them become enemies to tolerable company to friends to lovers.
Trigger Warnings: Language

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cassian never knew such panic. He knew he was being an ass for acting as if he had the right to be protective of her. Of the person he didn’t even know the name of. Of the person he felt drawn to and yet wanted to forget. Of the person who got under his skin so easily. Of the person whose beauty can bring the best of men to their knees and make even queens try everything possible to best her. He didn’t know her at all other than a few conversations that weren’t his best moments, but he still felt as if they had been together since they were just kids.
All of those were reasons good enough to get him to forget other females. But this woman, gods, this woman wasn’t like the others, was she? No, she wasn’t. He found her on her knees with a man standing before her in an alley on the way back home from the library. At first glance, his heart broke for different reasons. He started walking away, before he realised it wasn’t what he thought it was. When he caught the telltale whiff of blood and saw the glint of a blade from the corner of his eyes.
Undiluted panic and rage —both feelings he didn’t have the right to feel— spurred him forward, knocking the man unconscious and breaking a bone or two for good measure, only to find the woman laying on the floor, her heart beating too fast for her good. Cassian debated entrusting the man and woman over to the authorities. Somehow, Cassian felt that the man and woman were well acquainted before today. He felt all of this was planned from the man’s side. So he brought both of them to his house. The guy was shoved into the basement with a strong sedative. The woman was left in the guest room one of his brothers or friends slept in whenever they stayed over. He didn’t take her to his room. No, he won’t. That would rip open a wound he still struggled to keep closed. A wound that wasn’t even closed properly. That would remind him of images he didn’t want to admit was stored in his mind. One of those images rose, of the woman laying on his bed, golden-brown hair fanned around her flushed face, her eyes screwed shut in—
Cassian shoved that image away and sighed. He should probably have a little chat with the woman once she wakes up.
Today, when the woman didn’t wake up after one week of unconsciousness, when her face was ghastly pale, he felt the optimism that incentivised him slowly seeping out. He started regretting his decision of not handing things over to the police. What if Cassian’s first aid hadn’t been enough? Worse, what if he did something wrong? What if, because of his actions —done knowingly, or unknowingly— would be the reason why the earth loses a certain gray-eyed beauty?
Cassian was close to giving up. It pained him to see her like this. If not for the slight rise and fall of her chest he would think she was dead already. He slowly walked to her bed, crouched and tucked stray strands of hair behind the shell of her ear. He tamped down the emotion cresting in him. Her pulse was getting steadier day by day. He should be happy— his one week of taking leave from both of his jobs and tending to her was paying off. But his mind shot to the moment that day when they first met. When he was stunned by her beauty. Her side-profile, not even her full face, at that. That day, when he realised something deadly was brewing between them. It had been growing from that day, he realised. It was barely five weeks since he had known her— he didn’t even know her. They were just acquaintances. Still, Cassian knew he was falling hard for her. This time, he couldn’t contain the swell of emotion in him. He couldn't hold back the tear rolling down his cheek. He slowly slipped out of the room and sighed. To say he was screwed was a major understatement.
***
Everywhere hurt. Death was supposed to be one's liberation. No one mentioned that there was physical pain in death. There shouldn't be, right? One didn't even have a body to feel physical pain after death. Mental pain? Probably. Physical pain? A big no.
Nesta blinked open her eyes — which again, no one mentioned ghosts would be able to do.
Huh. She expected Hell —for the mistakes she'd atoned, she assumed Hell would be her place— to be all dark and gloomy. What she didn't expect was for Hell to have separate rooms— with furniture and bright blue walls, no less.
She wanted to sit up and get a sense of her surroundings and clear her still groggy head. That's when she heard muffled footsteps. She jerked upright —and immediately regretted it for her head hurt even worse than before — and her pulse raced. She paused. Pulse raced?
She cautiously placed her hand on her wrist, then her neck and on her chest to be sure. Pulse. She had a pulse. She wasn’t dead?
The door flew open revealing a hulking, heaving figure she knew all too well. What was he doing here?
Ohh. She closed her eyes against the onslaught of memories from the alley. Of Tomas. She opened her eyes to find the man sitting on a chair near the bed. Immediately she was keenly aware of the limited space between them. He silently passed her a glass of water she gladly downed, refilled and let her drink her as much as she wanted.
She set her glass on the bedside table and looked up at him, at the concern etched deep on his face.
“Are you okay? Does anything hurt?” he asked.
Why is he being kind? Why is he making it difficult for me to hate him?
“Why am I here?” she asked instead.
“I asked you first,” he deadpanned. Typical.
“Mhm, nice way to deflect. Too kiddish, though,” she said.
“As if you aren’t deflecting,” he retorted.
“How about this? Your answers for mine.”
He huffed. “Whatever. So, are you okay?”
She smiled, “Me first.” At his glare she said, “I’m sick, aren’t I?”
“How nice of you to pull that card,” he murmured.
“Why am I here?”
“I found you on your knees, your nose slightly broken, bleeding here and there with a man holding a knife to your throat in an alley.” He shrugged. “I brought you and healed you as well as I could without gaining attention from the authorities. This is my home.”
She opened her mouth to ask her next question.
He cut her off with a smile and said, “My turn, sweetheart.”
She clenched her jaw. His audacity.
He leaned forward on his elbows. “Does anything hurt?”
“Yeah,” she allowed herself a small smile, “My head feels like it's being hit with a hammer by a particularly unkind person. My nose feels like it’s stuffed with cotton. My scalp feels like it’s being used as a cotton reel. I’m in dire need of a bath. Other than that, I’m fine I guess.”
He nodded, “Well, I’m glad you’re fine.” There he is, being all kind and caring to me again. He chuckled. “No need to give me that look. I’m just glad my one week off didn’t go down the drain.”
That was what she wanted to hear. But it still stung. Her head snapped up as realisation struck. “Wait— has it been one week already?”
He smirked, “Yes. Now, my question—”
She frowned, “It’s my turn.”
His smirk only grew larger. That bastard. “ ‘Has it been one week already’ is a question, my love.”
Shit. She should’ve thought about that. He was correct but still, “How dare—”
“Calm down, darling, calm down. If you want—”
She sighed and said, “Bring it on, then.”
His jaw ticked. He’s angry, she realised. “Who was he?” he asked quietly.
She drew in a breath. “That was Tomas. Tomas Mandray. My ex-boyfriend. He probably wanted revenge for putting him in jail.” She didn’t explain. She didn’t want to and he seemed to understand that. She slightly dreaded the next question. She put on her no-emotion face and asked, “Where is he?”
His face said he saw right through her facade. He pursed his lips, “In the basement. I figured the both of you had some sort of personal history so I wanted to wait for you to wake up before I did anything. He’s not awake; I’ve taken care of that but I don’t think he’ll be unconscious much longer. Do you need anything?”
She nodded, she was still in the same clothes as that day. There were blood stains throughout her black shirt. The mere thought that she hadn't cleaned herself for one week made her shudder. He didn’t change her clothes and she appreciated that though it seemed her face, neck and hands were wiped with a cloth. “I’d like a bath.”
He seemed to consider this before saying, “Sure. You can use my friend's clothes from the closet. The bathroom is there. Take a bath, use whatever you want. I'll get breakfast ready.”
He turned to leave. “Wait,” she called.
He arched his brows, waiting. “Thank you. For everything.”
He gave her his signature half-smile, “Anytime, darling.”
***
Making breakfast was normally very easy. Today, however, it was proving to be a very, very difficult task. Apparently, your brain turns to mush when the woman you've been drooling behind is bathing under the same roof. Also when you're talking to her. He found it a miracle that he didn't make a fool of himself earlier.
But he was sober enough to see the vulnerability behind her guarded expressions when they were talking about her ex-boyfriend. Gods, her ex-boyfriend. The anger he felt when he saw him in the alley was less than a tenth of what he felt now. He didn't know why he was angry. He just… was. He knew she was smart and brave and strong. But that didn't wipe off the fact that somewhere, beneath the tigress exterior, there was a scared little rabbit. He knew what he was going to do might be stupid. He knew it might not work out. Still, Cassian was going to arm the scared rabbit, consequences be damned.
***
Turns out, he makes delicious breakfast. There was steak, salad, boiled potatoes and a number of other foods. Nesta didn't know when she last had such mouth-watering steak. Not that she'll admit it though.
“Did he see you?” she asked after a hearty meal. “Tomas,” she clarified.
“No,” he replied, “I came from the back. His guard was down so he wasn't ready. I don't think he's trained in this kinda stuff. He probably knows a little but not good enough. Why?”
She shook her head. “I don't think I want anything to do with him. Would you mind sending him to the police? Maybe you could just attach a note saying you found him abandoned somewhere or something like that. I really don't want to get you into trouble either.”
She didn't dare look at him, afraid he'll say no.
“Fine,” he said. “You can call a cab whenever you're ready to leave. Take my first-aid kit if you want. Anything else?”
“No, no, nothing.” She cleared her throat. “Thanks. Again
For, uh, everything.”
Gods, why was she getting so flustered?
She packed her old clothes and some medicines he recommended for her headache, ignoring the pang of disappointment. Before she left, he passed her a scrap of paper with an address scrawled on it.
“What is this?” she asked.
“It's a centre I run with my brothers. In three weeks from now, after that Sunday, do you want to come? It's a self-defense arts centre. We could teach you a bit here and there. If you want. Totally no pressure.”
Nesta was stunned. That was exactly what she was thinking about in the shower earlier. Learn how to fight. Learn what to do. Then, payback time. She really didn't understand how he managed to read her mind. She smiled. “I'd love that.”
He grinned. She felt happy. Soon, she was going to give back suffering for all she got. Tomas was so going to pay. She's going to learn how to fight. Never again, she vowed. Never again would she be vulnerable.
Relationship: Henry Cavill x Indian/black reader
I zip down the highway switching into the right lane before taking the exit hitting a quick right turn. I whine my hips to the music of my throwbacks playlist the song Temperature by Sean Paul blasting through the speakers.
I’m coming straight from work to my sisters house and where she’s having a game night. My boyfriend unfortunately couldn’t make it seeing as he couldn’t take off the graveyard shift. I make a left entering into the driveway of the nice looking townhome my sister Armani owns.
I park in a parallel spot and see a few cars, about 4, already outside of her house. I step out pulling down my suede mini skirt with a vertical seam. I smooth out my sepia colored shirt feeling the wind start to pick up outside. I grab my black duster sliding it over my thick arms before grabbing my chestnut brown purse and walking up to the door. I try the door handle and it opens allowing me in. I take off my loafers at the door and hear the chattering of a few guests.
This house used to be our parents right before they died. We had 2 beautiful mothers who loved us very much but sadly they were involved in a head on collision that killed one of them on impact. The other died in the hospital just a day later but I was grateful for those few hours.
I look at the pictures of all of us and then I hear my name being shouted with joy. “YN” I’m greeted with open arms from my older sister. The fair-skinned 5’8 woman with a cheeky smile plastered on her face looks at me “don’t be mad” she bites her lip
“I’m already mad now” which was only half of a joke. What did she do this time? Appears from behind a wall, my recent ex Henry, with a cheeky smile as well. His perfectly short hair and fitted tee makes me wonder if he does all the thing he used to do to me, to his... snow bunnies. He started off as a fling which then turned into a 2 year relationship and when that ended we were still having sex with each other. I really only stopped fucking him just a year ago, right before I got with my current boyfriend, Cameron. The breakup was mutual but still sour. He was my best friend. Now every time I look I see a different broad on his shoulder. Like a trophy. He’s got a bitch for everyday of the week.
“Oh nice seeing you Henry” I glare at Armani and she smiles. The tall Brit walks over to me engulfing me in his warm embrace. Almost made me miss us being together. He lets me go and I step back.
“Nice seeing you as well. You look good” he glanced me up and down quickly before returning to my eyes. I can’t help but remember that those were one of his favorite features about me. My chocolate brown eyes.
“As do you” an content silence falls in the air and Armani clears her throat
“Let’s get you drunk and get this game night started” she grabs my hand and Henry follows us. We part ways, him heading to the living room and me and my sister to the kitchen where I look at her.
“I miss his goofy side” she tried to plea. I shake my head grabbing a shot of tequila and taking it straight to the head. I pour another shot downing it before shaking my head squinting at the taste. I walk to the living room meeting everyone. 2 of our cousins Briette and Joseline and Bri’s husband Carter.
“Hey guys” I hug them and look for a place to sit. Unfortunately I’m seated only one person away from Henry and I cross my legs watching his eyes move back and forth between my thighs and his hands that are resting on his thighs. Let’s begin the games.
....
I’m slightly tipsy and I’m definitely hot from the whiskey I’ve been consuming. I’m not completely drunk but I’m a little tipsy. We’re playing the game midnight taboo and it’s me, Henry and Briette vs. Armani, Carter and Jo. It’s Henry’s turn to read off the cards and we guess.
The timer starts and he begins. “Um ok Brazzers, Xvideos-“
“Porn” Bri yells out he nods grabbing another card
“YN I do this to you all the time”
“Fuck?”
“Something while we do that”
“Spanking? Cumming?” he shakes his head looking dead at me “choking” he nods grabbing another card
“Young adult kids play this at a party it’s a this or that activity”
“Get high or get drunk” I answer he shakes his head
“It’s a gathered activity” this British man and his proper English are blowing me right now. I think hard hearing Bri yell out random stuff and I finally come up with something “truth or dare”
“Time” Carter yells. Henry smiles nodding and I can’t help but begin thinking about when he would choke me while he thrashed his hips in me. I press my legs together biting my lip before raising my eyes to accidentally meet his. I knock back another shot wincing at the taste before just zoning off.
....
We’ve moved onto another game which is cards against humanity. Me and Henry are seated close next to each other of course not by my picking. He decided to sit this game out and just watch us play. I sort through my cards trying to find a good one that Joseline would like. I place one down and Henry inches closer making my breath catch in my throat.
“I see the way you keep looking at me” he whispers. Without a word being exchanged I look at him and unconsciously bite my lip. Something that would’ve made him take me right then and there.
As Joseline reads off the cards deciding on which is her favorite determining who gets the point Henry’s hand caresses my thigh. I always melted when he’d squeeze and knead my thigh like dough.
“I like Y/N’s” I smile and grab a black card reading it off. “This is the prime of my life. I’m young, hot and full of blank”
As the crowd sorts through their cards Henry’s hands creeps higher and higher softly rubbing my clothed clit. He does it so swiftly that I’m already at the point where I don’t want him to stop. He slides my panties to the side running his fingers through my slick using that to rub my coated pearl.
I jolt slightly opening my legs more where he inserts 2 fingers pumping slowly. Everyone hands me their cards and I clear my throat trying to act as normal as possible. “Crippling debt” I smile biting my lip again as Henry keeps grazing that spot “money moves, asshole full of jelly beans, tax fraud, and oh god” his fingers dig deeper inside of me as I mask my moan grinding my hips in the seat. I can see the tent forming in his pants and trust me he was packing.
“And crabs” Henry curls his fingers against my g-spot. My body jerks as Bri looks at me.
“You ok?”
“Yes I’m good. I like tax fraud” Carter smiles and grabs a black card. I grab Henry’s wrist and he leans close to my ear again.
“That’s it pet ride my fingers until you cum” oh god I wanna protest so bad but it feels so good. I rest my hand on his bulge rubbing it through his pants. I move my hand to his thigh as my legs shake and I close my eyes succumbing to my demise in front of my sister and cousins.
“Good girl” he removed his fingers rubbing my clit making my body jerk.
“Excuse me I’m going to the bathroom” I glance at him and walk shakily to the bathroom. I hear a chair scuffle and look at myself in the mirror.
“You have a boyfriend get it together” I try to pep talk myself but knowing the capabilities Henry has I can’t help myself but to fall under his spell once more.
A small knock appears at the door and I open it. Henry lightly pushes me inside and licks the door behind him. Immediately his lips are attached to mine and it was like our first time together all over again. My hands wrap around his waist and he moves his large hands down my butt lifting my skirt a little.
“Please fuck me” I beg quietly. He picks me up setting me on the counter. My legs open for him as he drops his pants finally letting his shaft spring free. Henry tears off my underwear dropping then next to his pants and guiding the tip through my wetness rubbing my sensitive clit. I grab him by the back of his neck planting an open mouth kiss on him letting his tongue explore what was previously (and still might be) his.
Henry finally stops teasing and legs go of his dick letting it align with my entrance. His hand moves to the counter behind me slowly stretching me out like the old days. My jaw drops as I sink into his touch feeling his dick fill me up. He holds my hips as my legs dangle in the crease of his shoulders while my arms support myself behind me. He looks done watching his dick submerge in my juices as he fucks me slowly.
“please daddy” he speeds up per my internal request forcing me to lean back pressing my head against the mirror as he wraps his hand around my throat. My legs start to unconsciously close and Henry forces them back open stroking me harder. My royal blue painted acrylic nails dig into his forearm as he brings me closer pressing a warm kiss on my lips. My body sparks each time he plummets inside of me pressing my g-spot like a button.
“Oh god” I mewl careful not to make too much noise. He moves down to my neck using both hands to keep my legs apart sucking at the patch of sensitive skin. My eyes roll to the back of my head hearing his grunts and moans as he digs deep in my guts. My hand wraps around his muscular shoulders and moving up to his short curly locks. I feel that hole inside of me start to open up with each thrust.
“Henry I’m close” I warn trying to brace myself. He pushes my bottom forward going deeper and my toes begin curling.
“Cum for daddy pet” he moans. My body tenses up and I cover my mouth masking a loud moan. I shutter and shake under him hearing his small sadistic laugh. His breath filled with bourbon and mint is hot against my ear.
Once my convulsions stop Henry puts my feet on the ground and turns me around sliding back in and pounding me out. He pulls my head up looking at is on the mirror. Henry places my arms behind my back. I watch Henry’s gave turn to bliss coating my walls in his seed. Something that’s happened multiple times. We’ve had our fair share of pregnancy scares.
“Look at what you do to daddy” my jaw drops as he keeps pumping making sure he’s emptied inside of me. “Fuck I miss the way you make me feel”
He slows down before coming to a stop where I feel his dick pulsing inside of me. I lift up pressing my back against his chest holding him in a powerful meaningful kiss.
“I know I’ve put you through a lot and I’m sorry” he says. I shake my head kissing him again.
I come to my senses and pull his dick out thinking about my boyfriend “shit what did I do?”
I sighed getting out my car unprepared for tonight's events. My best friend Savannah invited me to a game night with some of her co-stars from her new show on Netflix. They were nice people I visited on set a couple times when they were shooting in LA and got along pretty well with most of them. Well all except one. Jeremy. Jeremy Shada.
Flashback
I frustratedly walked towards Savannah's set beyond pissed. I was visiting my best friend on set today when I anonymously received photos from an unknown number. After 2 hours of sitting in her trailer I had just confirmed that my now ex boyfriend had been cheating on me and to make it worse it was with someone who I though was my friend. I finally reached the location she was filming at watching as she spoke to the director who was probably giving her instruction. She threw a glance at me realization hitting her what we had suspected since I got the pictures was true. I stood back as she said something to the director before making her way towards me.
"Did you talk to him?" She asked.
"Yeah. He admitted it to me. He straight up told me he cheated on me" I said on the verge of tears.
"He's such an asshole" She whispered pulling me into a hug.
“I know. I just don't know what I'm gonna do Savannah. I live with the man for fucks sake" I sobbed pulling away.
"Well for starters your moving in with me"
"I can't do that Sav, our lease isn't up for another 2 months"
"Your not staying with that jerk for 2 months y/n. Over my dead body am I gonna let my best friend stay in the same apartment with such a pig" She said getting ticked off. I sighed knowing there was no point in trying to argue right now when I was filled with too many emotions to count. I simply nodded fidgeting with my fingers.
"Go wait for me in my trailer. I almost done with this scene then I'm done for the day. After that we can go pick up some clothes then head over to mine for a breakup ritual"
"You really think that'll fix this?" I asked letting another tear slip out.
"No but it'll sure help. We'll order takeout, paint our nails, and have a high school musical marathon"
"Your just saying that because you can't wait to drool over Zac”
"Well yeah but your gonna be doing the same"
"Fair enough" I said smiling at the girl.
"See you in a bit k?"
"Okay" I smiled walking away.
I was walking back the route I came from when I received a message.
"You know we don't have to stop it here if don't want to😏" I read aloud making anger boil in me. He's such a fucking Asshole.
I groaned in frustration suddenly feeling myself collide with something hard.
“What the fuck!?" I cried holding my forehead. I looked up realizing I had just collided with an opening door.
"Oh my god are you okay?"
"Do I look okay? Are you fucking serious?"
"Look I'm sorry but you don't have to be such a dick about it" The person spoke. I finally looked up seeing a guy around my age who looked awfully familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it.
"I'm the dick? You hit me with a fucking door"
"Look I said I'm sorry" He said sticking out a hand to help me up. I was so fed up with men today. I scoffed standing up on my own.
"I don't need your help. Just watch where your going next time"
"It's not my fault. I didn't know anyone was gonna be passing by"
"So it's my fault I just got knocked to the ground by an opening door?" I shouted holding the part of my head that was now throbbing.
"W-well n-"
"You know what save it! I'm tired of men today I'm tired of everyone" I said passing by the dark haired guy bumping his shoulder in anger. That guy ended up being Jeremy Shada. Savannah's cast mate. And now my worst enemy.
“I brought lasagna” I announced to the group of people who were in the living room. Specifically Charlie, Savannah, Sacha, Owen, Jadah, Tori of course, and unfortunately enough Jeremy.
“Yes!” Sacha shouted with excitement. I giggled putting down the dish in the kitchen going over to greet everyone.
“Hey Charles!”
“How you doin?” He smirked making me laugh.
“I’m doin good baby. How you doin?” I played along. Recreated one of my favorite scenes from friends.
“This is why I love you! You get me!” He shouted pulling me in for a hug.
“Hey Owen. Sacha” I greeted the two boys with a hug.
“Y/n! We missed you the last couple weeks on set”
“Owen you were shooting in Vancouver”
“I know we just really missed you. Savannah was no fun”
“I was fun!” The girl shouted form the kitchen.
“What he means is we missed our biggest cheerleader” Tori corrected.
“I am great aren’t I?” I jokingly flipped my hair on my shoulder earning laughs from around the room.
“I beg to differ” Jeremy’s voice spoke making me roll my eyes.
“Seriously? I just got here and your gonna start?” I asked looking at him.
“Hey! Guys! It’s game night let’s chill out tonight” Charlie tried to reason shuffling the uno cards in his hand.
It wasn’t the first time he or any of the other cast tried to talk me and Jeremy down but sometimes his side comments got to me so much that I’d burst. God I hated his luscious dark hair. And his snarky little smirk. And his beautiful brown eyes. And his adorable dimples.
“Charlie’s right” I spoke calming down.
“It’s game night. I’m with my friends and nothings gonna ruin that. Even you Shada”
“It was ruined the moment you stepped in”
“Man chill out” Owen said placing a hand on Jeremys shoulder. I watched as the two small talked on the side before turning my attention back to the rest of group.
Internally groaning I took a seat in between Jadah and Savannah who had finally made it back to the living room.
“Glad to see your lasagna didn’t come out burnt” Savannah said making me let out a giggle. Referring to the first time I tried baking lasagna.
“Sav that was one time and it was an accident”
“I can think of other things that were an accident” Jeremy said my eyes going wide. Gasps filling the room.
“Dude yo chill out”
“That’s low even for you Jeremy” I said standing up and making my way down the familiar hallway. I reach a room I recognized as Toris. Locking myself in. I began to cry sitting down on her bed in the center of the room.
That was it. Those were the words that finally triggered me.
Flashback
“Your a drunk! Can’t even take care of your own daughter!” “She was a fucking accident!” “You don’t mean that daddy” I cried holding my chest to my knees. Drowning out the voices of my parents fighting. Wanting anything. Anything to happen that would get me out of this house. But nothing did.
My thoughts were cut off by a sudden knock on the door.
“Who is it?” I questioned wiping the stray tears that had escaped.
“It’s me”
“Who’s me?” I asked sniffling.
“Jeremy”
“Go away you fucking prick”
“Can we talk? Please” He pleaded confusion hitting me. Why would he want to talk to me? Why now?
I made my way toward the door slowly unlocking it.
“What do you want?” I asked moving back onto the bed.
“I wanna apologize. Savannah told me about your parents. She also said if I didn’t cool it she’d have my head” He said moving slowly to sit beside me on the bed.
“Yeah. She’s a sweet girl but she’ll have your head in seconds” I tried to joke only to have more tears fall down my face.
“Look I’m really sorry for acting like such a jerk”
“A dick” I corrected him earning a chuckle from the guy.
“A dick. I’m really sorry”
“For the sake of our friends outside. I guess I’m sorry too. Sav always talks about how much of a great guy you are but I never actually got to know you. I honestly I don’t know why I always went out my way to attack you”
“I do” He spoke. My head cocking to the side in confusion.
“I mean I know why I always acted like that”
“And why is that?”
“Maybe it was to conceal the big fat crush I had on you since the moment I laid eyes on you”
“What?” I questioned looking him in the eyes.
“Don’t make me say it again. Look I’ve acted like such an ass especially lately. But every time I see you I just remember the first time we met. How beautiful you were. But then we interacted. And now I realize how terrible I really was. Then the way you reacted didn’t help the situation. I mean it looked like you weren’t having the best day and I made it worse. And guilt has been eating away at me ever since but I could never bring myself to apologize because of my stupid pride”
“Your pride is pretty stupid. But your face makes up for it” I spoke with a nervous smile.
“Was that a compliment?” He teased.
“So what if it was? What are you gonna do about it Shada?”
“Well for starters.....I’m gonna take you on a date. A proper date. Maybe to the beach. We could have a picnic. Make a day out of it. The I’ll drive you back to yours and Savannah’s. We’ll walk hand and had up to your door. We’ll make casual small talk about how great it was. Then I’ll say we should do this again sometime and you’ll agree of course. Then I’ll lean in at the last second and....kiss you”
He said our bodies seemingly to have gotten closer within the period he had begun talking to now.
“Why wait?” I whispered finally looking straight at him to see him already looking at me.
We gazed into each other’s eyes until our lips met in the middle. The kiss was short but sweet. We finally pulled away looking down I watched as he intertwined our fingers. Smiles plastered on both of our faces
This was it. No more backhanded comments. No more glaring at each other from across the room. No more uncomfortable tension in the air.
It was me and Jeremy.
Law School Episode 7 thoughts [SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!!]
I think it’s probably because of how wonderful Ep 6 was but Ep 7 didn’t feel that great for me. But with that said, I still love this show so much.
THE GOOD
+ Han Joon Hwi. I think this is my favorite Kim Bum’s character so far. His cheeky banter with Seo Ji Ho in the beginning of the episode is just adorable. I also love how calm and collected he is when facing both Ye Seul’s jerk boyfriend and the Prosecutor Jin. He definitely reminds me of the guile hero archetype who uses his mind to get out of situations. And this is probably too early to tell but I think by the end of the show, Joon Hwi might not become a Prosecutor like he originally planned but will maybe become a Professor like Yangcrates. Besides Yang Jong Hoon, all the Prosecutor characters introduced so far have been very shady and I don’t know if after everything, Joon Hwi will want to be a part of it. Also, I have to say that I really appreciate him not being all broody the entire episode.
+ Kang Sol A. She has really grown on me since episode 1. I admire her bravery, great sense of justice, and kindness. We all need a Kang Sol A in our life. #bestiegoal. The scene where she testified in court cracks me up. Ryu Hye Young and her pouts are so precious. (Also I just rewatched Reply 1988 and I can’t believe Sol A and Bora are played by the same actress. RHY is so talented!). One thing I wish they had done though in this episode is showing more about Kang Dan and Kang Sol. They are twin sisters and Dan went to Hankuk Law. I feel like there's more to show, especially right after the revelation. I don’t know about you but if I find out the Professor I respect has been in contact with my estranged twin sister, I will not wait for answers.
+ Yangcrates. While I definitely don’t want to be his student, I gotta admit, he is a very cool teacher. He really cares for his students, not just Sol A and Joon Hwi, and he means it when he said he didn’t want his students to turn out to be delinquents who broke the laws. He also has that commanding presence that just oozes charisma and captures people’s attention. The moment he starts lecturing in the middle of the trial, I lost it. Such wonderful comedic gold. And it feels so in-character too.
+ The side characters’ dynamic. Law School sets itself apart from the typical legal drama thanks to the school settings and in my opinion, it is actually these interactions between the side characters that keep the show grounded and light, especially when we don’t have a lot of Han Joon Hwi and Kang Sol A moments. Mr. Sung is hilarious! He is probably my comfort character in this show <3
THE MEDIOCRE/BAD
+ Seung Jae. That transition and the last 4 minutes of the episode is very well done. I get chilled watching it. My guess is that he was trying to get the test answers from Professor Yang’s laptop when Professor suddenly returns to his office and thus, has to hide in the closet. All the clues so far have been pointing to him being a cheater but I wonder if there’s anything deeper behind it? Of all the plotlines going on, the cheating storyline seems the least matter. I’m assuming they will focus on him next so I hope we get some closure or insights. Cause right now, I don’t know if I know enough about Seung Jae to care about him.
+ Sol B and her family. While I appreciate that the storyline does not drop her character arc as soon as they mystery is solved, right now, they are pretty much just on the screen for the sake of being on the screen. I can see there are crumbs laid for the future but the hints are too subtle that it just makes me feel disappointed when they show her and then nothing really comes out of her scenes.
+ The subplots. There are too many currently running at the same time that it just takes attention away from the more prominent ones that are connected to the story. Just counting in Ep 7, we have
Ye Seul’s abusive boyfriend
Ji Ho’s quest for revenge? (Like is that happening anymore now that professor Seo is dead?)
Joon Hwi’s quest for the truth and THAT revelation (I feel like it should have been a bigger shock than this)
Sol B and the ex med student
Kang Dan’s mystery (also, Idk about you but if I found out my Professor knew and has been in contact with my estranged twin sister, I would not simply let it go just because of finals coming up.)
Professor Kang’s family drama
Lee Man Ho
Professor Yang’s case against Prosecutor Jin.
THEORY
I am very convinced that Prof Seo killed himself. When he was high and hallucinated Ji Hoo as Joon Hwi, what he said kinda felt like a suicide note to me, especially the part where he was begging him to understand how much he loved him.
Angst Prompt
Dawn’s Early Light
(Part Three to One Fateful Night)
As requested by many of you.
Tumblr media
(Liam x OC) in a one shot continuation of the angsty One Fateful Night.
A/N Here's some happiness to the angst so many sent messages about. I know it is still bittersweet in a way, with Riley being dead and all, but I think it gives our favorite prince a chance to find true love after all. On another note, I had at one time considered Liam meeting someone in Washington D.C. in another story where Riley died the night of the Homecoming Ball in Book 2. I guess this makes up for deleting it and never posting, LOL.
Part 2 The Dark Before the Dawn
Dawn’s Early Light
Somewhere in Maryland...
"Sir?"
Liam grimaced at the voice coming through loud and clear from his cell phone. The one time he convinced Bastien that he could travel on his own and the man still made certain to call every hour.
"Yes?" He huffed.
"Your current location?"
"That at the moment is a little difficult to pinpoint." Liam squinted through the pouring rain. "One of the roads was flooded and the numerous detours have sent me further east of D.C."
He could hear frantic mutterings in the background, papers shifting and clicks from computers.
"Pull over and we will try to locate you." Bastien ordered.
Liam looked about at the flour lane highway, barely able to see five feet ahead of him. "There isn't a spot to do so. I'll call once I find a safe place."
"Your majesty," he could hear the frustration in his Head of the King's Guards' voice, "this is why I insisted we fly down together."
"And I knew this was my last chance to take a road trip of sorts." Liam countered. "You worry too much, Bastien."
"And you don't worry enough." Bastien muttered. "If you haven't found a place within the next hour, I am coming to find you."
"Make sure to bring a rowboat." Liam teased. "That's probably the best way to travel here."
His jest was met with silence.
"Bastien?" Liam glanced down at his phone and saw the call had dropped. Tossing it back in the passenger seat, he continued on down the road.
*****************
Outside of Annapolis...
"No!" Autumn pleaded when her tire burst. "You've got to be kidding me!"
Pulling over onto the shoulder of the highway, she tried to call her parents.
"Gee, thanks for no bars." She grumbled, chucking her phone back into her purse.
Reaching for her coat she prepared herself mentally to change her own tire.
Why did Dad have to make it so boring? He knew I wouldn't pay attention!
It had been ten years since she had sat through that lesson, day dreaming of the cute guy who sat next to her in chemistry class.
And just like her lack of luck with Mr. Chemistry, she was about to fail miserably with her tire.
She pulled the flashlight and tools out her father insisted she keep in her vehicle at all times and stepped out into the rainstorm.
"Any creepy serial killers out there," she yelled towards the darkened woods that lined the highway, "now is NOT the time to mess with me!"
She paused in removing the jack from her trunk. "That goes for any wild animals unless you're the helpful kind from fairy tales."
She snorted at her own joke as she set reflectors along the road. "And if you know of any princes, do send them my way."
"Alright car, you and I have been through it." She patted it's side. "All the snow storms in Pennsylvania. New jobs. New apartments. Ex boyfriends." She knelt by the flat tire. "Let's get through this and I'll treat you to a tank of premium gas."
She removed the hubcap and blinked when a pair of bright headlights pulled up behind her.
"Didn't I specifically demand no serial killers?" She muttered to herself as she saw the silhouette of a man start walking her way.
"Pardon me?" A cultured voice called out. "Are you in need of any assistance?"
She lifted her hand to shield her eyes from the light. "I wouldn't say no to some help."
Her mystery person stopped a couple of feet away from her and studied her tire.
"Where's the jack?"
She handed it to him and watched as he expertly began to raise the back end up.
"Here's the tool kit." She handed it over, discreetly keeping a screwdriver in her hand in case he was a psycho.
"I hate to keep you out in the rain, but could you shine your flashlight here so I can remove the lug nuts?"
"Right. Of course." She dutifully lifted it where he directed.
"Perfect." He turned to smile at her. "Thank you."
She blinked at how handsome he was. "I, no problem. I should be thanking you."
"My pleasure." He looked around. "I don't suppose you know where we are, do you?"
Oh no. A hot psycho. Just my luck.
"Um, don't you know?" She took a cautious step back.
"I've never been in this part of America before." He explained, unaware of her trepidation. "I lost GPS about two hours ago."
"Oh." She relaxed and stepped closer. "We're about forty-five minutes from Annapolis.
"How far is that from D.C.?" He asked.
"About forty minutes or so depending on traffic." She tilted her head. "Let me guess. You're a politician or aide of some sort."
He chuckled. "Not really."
"You certainly don't sound like the men in Washington."
"Oh? And how do they sound?"
"Arrogant jerks. Every last one of them. Even the mailroom guys act like they rule the world." Her nose wrinkled.
"Ah." Her handsome stranger removed her flat tire and placed the spare on. "Not fond of men in power, I take it."
"Not really." She squatted next to him, hoping she would remember his actions in case she had another flat tire some time in the future. "I guess there's bound to be one man out there who actually wants to serve the people instead of having them serve him."
"I see." He glanced over at her. "I like to think there are honest rulers out there."
Her brow furrowed. "Rulers?" She studied his profile. "You're not American, are you?"
He shook his head. "No."
"Where are you from?" Her eyes narrowed in thought. "Your accent is hard to place."
"Cordonia" he grunted as he tightened the lug nuts. "Have you heard of it?"
"It sounds familiar." She muttered.
"It is a tiny but beautiful country in Europe." He explained.
"Isn’t every European nation?” She teased. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard of of one that I would turn down a vacation to.”
He began to lower her car back down with the jack. "All done."
"I don't know how to thank you." She pushed her wet hair back, wondering how horrible she must look as she picked up the safety reflectors
"No need." He smiled warmly. "Have a good evening, my lady." With an instinctive bow, he turned and walked back to his own car.
"My lady?" Her lips quirked with humor. Perhaps the fairy tale animals had sent her a prince. "Hey! Wait!"
He paused with his car door open. "Yes?"
"There's an all night diner a few miles ahead." She took a deep breath. "Would you like to follow me there? We could dry off and I could buy you a piece of pie as a thank you."
Her hero's smile grew brighter. "I'd like that. Lead the way."
********************
"I'm Autumn." She held her hand out as they waited to be seated.
"A pleasure to meet you. My name is Liam." He took her hand and bowed over it.
"Is that how people greet one another in Cordonia?" She asked.
"It is the norm from where I grew up." He responded with a sheepish grin.
He shook her hand. "Is that better?"
"Your way was fine." She glanced down at their clasped hands. "I just feel a little under dressed for such a proper greeting."
"Nonsense." Liam continued to hold her hand. "A little water logged perhaps, but lovely nonetheless."
Her lips parted in surprise.
"Just the two of you?"
The pair turned toward a waitress.
"Yes." Autumn replied. "Just us."
"Follow me." She sat them at a table and handed over some menus. "What can I get you to drink?"
"Coffee, please." Autumn replied.
"I'll have the same." Liam added.
"Coming right up."
*********************
"Autumn?" Liam tested her name. "Were you given that name due to being born in the fall?"
She shook her head. "My parents have a warped sense of humor. I was born in April."
He laughed causing her to smile once more.
She thought his laughter had such a warm encompassing sound that made her want to hear it often as she could.
"They also wanted to have their kids' initials for Pennsylvania." She rolled her eyes. "My older brother, Patrick, took care of the P while I completed it with an A." Her own laughter bubbled out. "Then my unplanned younger brother was born and threw those initials out the door."
"What did they name him?" Liam asked.
"August, since he was born in January. Being that he was a surprise, they went with another A name to have an, aaahhh, moment at the end of P.A.."
Liam shook with his laughter over her parents. "They sound delightful."
"They sound that way," she teased, "but when you live with them..." Her smile softened. "They really are great parents and my brothers aren't too bad either."
"I have an older brother." He told her. "Leo and I were never as close as I wished we could have been. He spends so much time traveling and exploring the world that I don't have the heart to pressure him into coming home more often." A sadness came over him. "I've never seen him so happy as when he sends me pictures from his latest adventure."
"He's a wandering soul." She added.
"Precisely." Liam refocused on her. "And a wanderer withers and dies if tied down."
"What about your parents?" She asked.
"My mother died when I was very young and my father passed away about five years ago." He explained. "I'm close to my stepmother, Regina. She and Leo are all I have left for family."
"I'm sorry." Autumn mumbled. "I didn't mean to dredge up painful--"
Her breath caught when he laid his hand over hers. She thought she could actually feel herself getting lost in his blue eyes...which was something she teased her friends over every time they mentioned something like that. Yet here she was, finding herself falling for a man who changed her tire in the rain.
He gently squeezed her fingers. "Nothing to apologize for. I miss them but I am done grieving."
As their waitress brought them a fresh pot of coffee, Liam realized how true that statement was. He was done grieving for all of his lost loved ones.
******************
"Now then." Liam looked up from his menu. "Do you work in Washington?"
"I do." She replied. "Not in a political aspect though."
"What do you do?" He asked.
"I'm an archivist at the National Air and Space Museum."
His expression brightened with interest. "I've always wanted to visit the Smithsonian. To work and preserve the very fabric of your nation's history must be fascinating."
"It is!" She leaned forward as she became more animated about her work.
Deciding to prolong this conversation, the two ordered a meal before indulging in pie.
Liam listened, asking questions that only made her more excited in sharing this piece of her life.
It was rare for Autumn to find anyone interested in what she did.
"Right now, my team is working on digitizing everything we have on rocket tests during the 1950's." She explained. "Reading through the vast paperwork, various film and photographs, all audio recordings; I get to sift through every bit of it for our records."
"I once assisted an archivist at the palace library." Liam told her. "I discovered long ago manuscripts and journals in a hidden nook." His smile softened at the memory. "It was all by accident. My best friend and I were playing in one of the ballrooms when the soccer ball we were kicking around struck a piece of the baseboards, causing a hidden door to open."
Autumn's eyes widened. "It's a wonder you didn't get in trouble with the palace curators. They do not appreciate anyone playing around the exhibits."
Liam chuckled. "I was lucky the curators were fond of me."
"You knew them?" She asked. "Were they family members?"
"They aren't family, but I did know them." He replied, being deliberately mysterious about who he was.
He hadn't had a normal conversation in years. When she didn't recognize him, he felt a lightness he had felt on that long ago night in New York. He had forgotten how it was, how it made him feel. So often, people said the things they thought he wanted to hear. He missed the back and forth of sharing personal tidbits.
Autumn grimaced when she realized she had basically dominated the conversation for nearly an hour.
"Enough about my work," she smiled at him, "what do you do? Did you come here for business or to finally see the Smithsonian?"
He chuckled before taking a sip of his coffee. "As much as I would prefer spending my days wandering through museums, I am here to meet with government officials."
Her nose wrinkled. "I’m sorry. I do not envy you for that." Her eyebrow lifted. "What's the government like in Cordonia? Do you have a prime minister or something similar to our president?"
"We are a constitutional monarchy with the king as the Head of State." He explained.
"I see. Then you work in some capacity for him?" She continued. "You must to be here for meetings."
Liam lowered his eyes. "I suppose you could say that."
"So what's your job title?" She persisted. "Are you a member of the house of lords or whatever you have? Aide to the king?"
"I have a higher position than anything like that." He hedged. "Which is why I'm the only one to attend these meeting the next couple of weeks."
Her brow furrowed. "The king doesn't handle stuff like that?"
"He does which is why I'm here." He focused on her eyes. "The king is the only one to handle the approval for trade agreements and maintaining friendly relations with other countries."
"Then why isn’t he..." She burst into laughter. "You really had me going there for a moment." She shook her head at him. "Nice try, but no king travels alone on highways in a Nissan Altima."
"I do when I want to appear a regular man." He explained.
"Because isn't that royalty is all about?" She giggled some more. "Living life as a middle class man."
"I'm sincere." He argued. "I really am the King of Cordonia."
Her laughter died. "And just when I thought you weren't mentally unhinged." She sighed while picking at her piece of blueberry pie. "I knew you were too good to be true. No man can be both selfless and handsome without a few screws loose."
Liam's elation she found him attractive caught him by surprise. It wasn't that other women had not said similar to him at various functions. It was that he actually felt attracted to her too.
"I can prove I'm the king."
"How long have you believed you were king?" She asked. "Any chance you've thought you were someone else at one time? Napoleon Bonaparte? King Tut?"
He snorted on his laughter. "I've been king for over six years now. The rest of my life was spent as a prince."
"Uh huh." She poured them each another cup of coffee. "Guess that explains why you weren't banned from the palace for playing soccer."
"It is my home." He pointed out.
"Sure it is." She patted his hand. "And I'm sure you're the best king out there who knows how to change a tire."
"I only know because my best friend taught me." Liam explained. "He was one of the few people in my life who did not allow me to become a spoiled prince."
"Right." She smiled at him. "It's been great and all." She reached into her purse for her wallet. "And I do thank you so much for your help with the flat tire, but I should go."
"You don't believe me?" He asked.
"I believe you believe it." She said cautiously.
Liam quickly pulled his phone out and handed it to her. "Look up Cordonia."
"Just because you think you're a king doesn't mean you can order me around." Her eyes narrowed in warning. "Besides, I wouldn't use your phone. You'd probably have me looking at some doctored photos of yourself."
"Forgive me I didn’t mean to make it sound like a command." Liam ran a hand through his hair. "I've never met anyone who didn't believe I am who I say."
"First time for e everything, huh?" She hesitated when she saw his disappointment. "Fine." She searched for her phone. "I'll play along if you find our waitress. I'm going to need more pie as I research you."
He grinned while doing as she asked.
Autumn wandered of it was because it was the middle of the night that made her sit here with some guy claiming to be--
"No!" Her eyes darted from the images of King Liam of Cordonia to the Liam sitting at her table. "You're really a king?!"
"Would you care for another slice of blueberry or a different type of pie?" He asked with a bright smile.
"Blueberry." Her jaw was still dropped.
"Another slice of blueberry please for the lady and I'll have a slice of apple."
"Why on earth are you traveling lone highways in Maryland?" She asked when their waitress left.
"I flew in to New York for a few meetings with U.N. representatives. Our representative is new to her job and I wanted to encourage her." He explained. "Then I suppose I caught a bit of wanderlust from my brother and wanted to drive down to D.C." He took a bite of his new slice of pie. "It's rare I am able to convince my security team to let me out of their sight, but there are times when I like to be alone with my thoughts."
"I guess you have a lot of people demanding your time." She conceded.
"I do, which is why I make time for the people and activities that are important to me." He looked up at her. "Experience has taught me how fleeting time can be and we should make the most of every moment we are given."
"I like that." She cut into her slice with her fork while scrolling through images of Cordonia. "A lot of people get so easily wrapped up in their work and don't realize that they are missing out on so much more."
"Are you one of those people?"
Autumn paused chewing to consider his question. "Sometimes. I can get so wrapped up in a project and shut out the world going on around me." She shrugged. "Then something happens to shake me back to reality."
Liam grinned when it hit him that his being confirmed king had not changed the way she spoke to him.
As if reading his thoughts, her fork clattered on her plate. "I can't believe you really are a king." Her head tilted as she studied him. "You really don't act like how I imagine one would."
Liam folded his arms on the table and leaned forward. His bright blue eyes held her gray ones. "How should I act?"
She snorted. "For one thing you wouldn't have stood out in the pouring rain to change a tire."
"Aren't fairy tales filled with princes rescuing damsel in distress?" He countered.
She rolled her eyes playfully. "It isn't like you slayed a dragon."
"According to your imagination, what should I have done in that situation?" He countered, delighted with her not putting him on a pedestal.
"First off, if you were on a," she made quotation marks with her fingers, "road trip, you'd probably be in a limo since your private jet is tucked away in a hangar somewhere."
"But then I would have a driver and thus not able to be alone." He reminded her.
"True." She propped her chin on her hand and smiled. "We'll forget the car then since you are chivalrous and in need of a break." She gestured with her free hand around the diner. "A king wouldn't come her, happily order food, nor be willing to sit here for hours listening to some girl talk about museums."
"Why not?" Liam asked. "He could have been hungry since he had been lost for a while."
"I guess that's a reasonable possibility." Autumn muttered.
"And if he wanted to know more about the damsel he rescued, then shouldn't he be at least willing to remain here with her?"
"Maybe." She forced herself to look away from him. "Then again, maybe this is a night for things out to the ordinary to happen." She asked their waitress for their check.
Autumn shushed his arguments, insisting on paying for his meal.
At that moment, Bastien and some guards walked in.
Liam's eyes widened. "Bastien? How did you find me?"
"We have a tracker on your phone, your majesty." He explained. "We really need to get you to Washington. You have an early morning of..."
Liam tuned him out and focused once more on the lady he had met tonight.
"It's my fault." Autumn spoke up. "I wanted to thank Liam with some pie for his help earlier."
She stood up and held her hand out. “Thank you again for helping me.”
Liam pressed a soft kiss to her knuckles. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Autumn."
"I..." She could feel her entire body blush with that simple touch. "I'm happy to have met you too, Liam." She grimaced. "I mean, your majesty. Should I curtsy?"
He chuckled. "Just Liam with no curtsey is fine."
"Liam no curtsey." She winked at him. "Nice name for a king." Nodding farewell toward his guards, she slipped out of the restaurant.
Liam watched her drive off from one of the windows.
He wondered if he had just met the one.
ssw | embry call; he looks down. she looks up.
Tumblr media
NOTES:
I preface with the following.. I am not a medical professional. I have never had any kind of amnesia, temporary or otherwise. So.. yeah. Anyway.. the tldr here is this idea came to me and it’s weird and i didn’t know what to think of it at first but honestly, having written it out now I kind of like it? And I think it’s gonna be a short series... kinda? Allow me to elaborate.. normally, for the ssw prompts I use like 3 or four six word sentences as ideas / parts of the oneshot, etc but with this one, I think I’m going to use one for each part because I did that with this one and I like the way it came out?  Since I had four other equally good prompts chosen for the doc I started with him, I’m just gonna use the rest of those to kinda continue this? To an extent?
Anyway, enough rambling.
PROMPTS:
Taken from [ here ] or [ here ].
Inspiration / prompt used here was He looks down. She looks up.
FANDOM/CHARACTER:
Twilight / Embry Call x Imprint!OC, Merisa.
WARNING:
Amnesia tw. Injuries mentioned very vaguely. Beyond that, I guess mutual pining / a kinda slow burn and mentions of a jerk soon to be ex boyfriend.. Embry and this original character are both adults, approx 23-24 years in age just in case anyone’s wondering...
The last thing I remember is hitting a water pocket. My head bouncing off the steering wheel. The sound of metal groaning and glass shattering before everything went totally black.
And now, upon awakening, everything is foggy... At first,I can’t remember my name, where I was going or where I came from. I can’t even remember what day or year it is.
When I really started to come to, everything hurt. From the roots of my hair all the way to the tips of my toes. I grimaced as I pulled myself up in bed. My stomach was growling. My eyes darted around the unfamiliar room and the scent of bacon frying only worsened the pronounced hunger I was feeling.
“Where am I?” I muttered to myself as I gingerly made an attempt to slip out of bed. But the second my bare feet connected with aged and cold wooden floorboards, the mild pain I’d been feeling only intensified. When the door to the room creaked open quietly, I was just getting back into bed.
The man standing in the doorway didn’t spark a shred of recognition. God do I wish he did because I like to think that if I even have a type, he has to be it. He kind of looks like a man you’d find gracing the cover of the cheap erotica I read.
At the realization that I’d just remembered something, even if it was something insignificant, I was laughing softly at myself and shaking my head about it. I took a deep breath.
“Uh.. hi.” I muttered finally, just to break the silence and the sudden thickening of the air around us.
He hadn’t broken his gaze or made a step into the room. When I spoke up, he jumped a little as if I’d startled him. My brow raised and I tried again. “Do I know you?”
“Not likely. Not well, I mean...” the guy answered after a second or two of hesitation.
I blew at a strand of hair fallen down in my eye. Dragged my fingers through my hair as I mulled it over. “Okay, let’s try this… How did I get here?”
“How much do you remember?” he questioned, not taking his eyes off of me. Avoiding the question I’d asked. I swallowed hard and really tried to think. Trying to grasp at anything, any shred of a memory.
I remembered the sound of metal groaning. Glass shattering. The icy chill of water as it lapped at my feet. Feeling like I was about to die at any second. My brows knit in frustration and the guy was at my side in seconds. Sitting hesitantly on the bed near me. Close but not close enough for my liking somehow.
I pouted about it for a second or two and pushed it to the side, taking a deep breath. “I was in a wreck, wasn’t I?”
“Mhm. You almost died, actually.”
“I thought so. Okay, now it’s your turn.. Where am I?”
“You’re in La Push.”
The words stirred little bits. Fragments of memory. An older woman with a kind but aging face. The smell of bourbon and a man with long black hair shouting at another woman. Stepping forward like he was going to shove her at any second. A little girl crouched out of sight behind furniture until the older woman picked her up and carried her out. And I knew without knowing somehow that the little girl was me.
I grimaced. Both in confusion and irritation that I couldn’t remember more. Because whatever I’d just recalled felt like it happened a lifetime ago and not recently.
How old was I?
“You remembered something, huh?” he asked, studying me quietly. A look of concern on his face.
“I think… But it doesn’t answer anything I’m wondering at the moment.” I sighed and took a deep breath. Asked another question after a few seconds that seemed to drag on forever. “What’s your name?”
“Embry.”
Another random trivial memory surfaced. The woman  was there again. Introducing me to a group of boys who were all dirty from playing in the mud. I strained to focus. Honing in on the fact that she introduced me to the group as her granddaughter. My name was Merisa.
I cheered a little in triumph, forgetting for just the briefest of moments that I was literally a breathing ball of pain at the moment when I shot up off the bed to pump my fist in the air. Embry’s hand caught on my hips and he managed to keep me from crashing to the floor.
He smiled. A smile so bright that it seemed to bring light to the dullness of the room we were in. A smile, I found myself thinking, I’d give anything to see again.
“Easy. Whoa. The doctor said you’ve got some pretty gnarly injuries.” Embry scolded as he looked down at me in concern.
I nodded. Excited when I opened my mouth and started to babble about remembering my name. Remembering my grandmother and possibly growing up here in town. And on the heels of the happy came the sad.
A casket. A graveside service with gray clouds overhead and a fine mist of rain. Feeling numb and empty. Angry for some reason. This had me frowning. Shaking my head sadly.
“She’s dead.” I muttered the words. Deflated. Numb all over again.
Embry watched me like I was a landmine waiting to be triggered, his brow raising as if something I’d remembered was wrong but he didn’t dare tell me so. Sitting up like he was on high alert. Like he wanted to move closer. To attempt to offer comfort. But he didn’t dare.
A tear rolled down my cheek. I raised my hand and stopped it midway. Taking a few shaky breaths. The night of the accident came flooding back, the gaps filling themselves in as it did. I’d been crying when I left my mom’s funeral. Trying to call my grandmother. But I remembered that she was at a tribal meeting and she didn’t keep her phone turned on during tribal meetings. I must have taken my eyes off the road for a second, tops. The car hit a water pocket and went off the road. Hitting trees and flipping over a time or two before settling at the bottom of a steep hill. Next to water. Someone was pulling me out of my car. I recognized in an instant that Embry had been the one to pull me out. I remembered that he volunteered with fire and rescue.
I went quiet as I finished telling him what I was remembering. Wiping at my eyes.
And then it hit me. I didn’t really know Embry well but I did know of him aside from the fact that he pretty much saved my life the night of my accident... He was also the quiet kid down the street. One of the boys my grandma introduced me to that day.
“I do know you, actually.” I smiled at him softly, wiping at my eyes. I don’t know why, but I just didn’t mention that I knew he saved my life.
“Yeah, but not well. Kind of why I figured you’d have a meltdown when your grandma asked me to sit with you while she was out.” Embry muttered quietly. Leaning in just a little. His hand raised. A thumb rolling over my cheek as he wiped away another tear. Our eyes met and my breath caught in my throat.
“So we’re at my grandma’s. My old room.” I looked around at the room again and it felt right. From the books piled on my desk, an erotic novel turned face up and open where I’d left off reading to the posters tacked up on the wall. A contrast to my apartment I realized as soon as I started to remember the fact that I lived in Seattle.
I racked my brain trying to remember whether anyone there would be worried or missing me. I felt like there was someone waiting back there, but at the same time, I felt like maybe being here was better than being there.
Like whoever it was that might be waiting was someone I wanted to get away from.
“Greg called.” Embry spoke up after a second or two. He dragged his hand through long black hair as he held my gaze. A slightly irritated look on his face at even mentioning the guys name. “He wanted me to make sure I didn’t forget to tell you.” Embry chuckled at this, going quiet again.
When he said the name Greg, the mental image flooded my mind and my previous thought about someone waiting in Seattle proved correct. Greg was my boyfriend and honestly, he was a bit of an asshole. Uptight and moody. A bit on the controlling side under the guise of ‘this is for your own good’. I immediately started to remember a huge fight we had because apparently, he wasn’t happy about me coming back to the reservation for my mom’s funeral. Leaving him. But he refused to come along with me because to quote him “It’s not my type of thing.” and “I’m not good at emotional stuff, Mer.”
 I grumbled and shrugged. “I’m not in the mood to talk to that bag of dicks.” I muttered, brushing it off. More concerned with my own current situation than I was with calling Greg to check in. It wasn’t as if he’d magically care enough to come anyway, he hadn’t come back with me for my mom’s funeral. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth because I remembered several instances in a rush. All of them were me, giving up something I wanted because Greg insisted on it.
,, Christ, why am I even with this mega asshole? I mean.. My grandma lives next to the literal embodiment of sex...” the thought had me perplexed because I didn’t remember enough to really pinpoint a good reason. Something told me that may or may not be a blessing in disguise. From the little I was able to recall about Embry, I found myself wondering why I wasn’t with him or someone like him instead.
Seattle must have changed me a lot. And apparently, not for the better. Why had I even left La Push to begin with?
And then I remembered.. My mom met another guy and we wound up moving to a military base in Seattle. And we moved around so much that I never really got to spend much time with my grandma because we were too far away to make the trip back and too broke to afford it. So leaving La Push hadn’t ever been my choice.
“Yeah, he seemed like an asshole.” Embry muttered, his gaze settling on his legs. The tension between us was so thick I almost couldn’t breathe. My breath actually caught in my throat for a second or two and desperately, I tried to come up with something to say. Anything.
“I smelled food…” I muttered quietly. Looking down just as he looked up after I’d said it. He chuckled. “I was wondering when you were going to get around to mentioning you’re hungry. Your stomach’s been growling for a while now.”
My cheeks heated up and I bit my lip, nodding. Embry stood and eyed me for a few seconds. “Do you think you can make it?”
“I don’t know..” just the thought of even trying to stand again given my amount of pain had me tensing a little. Quickly and gracefully, Embry grabbed hold of me, scooping me into strong arms. Carrying me down the hallway and into the dining room. He sat me down in a chair and made his way into the kitchen.
He came back out a few minutes later with a plate full of food. I eyed it hungrily and he sat down, taking a sip from a glass of orange juice. I dug into my food and more than a few times, I felt the weight of his stare. At one point, it prompted me to look up and meet his gaze, both of us laughing.
“What?” I asked, swallowing the bite I’d just taken.
“You act like you haven’t eaten in years.” Embry replied, giving me a teasing smirk as he spoke.
“I haven’t eaten anything this tasty.” I replied, wiping at my mouth because I felt syrup on the corner. “Sorry, this is good. So good.” I groaned through another big bite. Promptly almost choking.
With a chuckle, Embry reached over, patting me between the shoulders until I stopped coughing and when our eyes met again, he teased quietly, “Can you stop trying to die on me?”
I gulped. Getting lost in his eyes and almost not managing the nod I gave in response. “Yeah.” I muttered quietly. That tension I felt before only grew thicker. Mostly to ease it and try to keep a conversation going, I took a slice of bacon and held it out to him. “C’mon. Eat a little. I feel bad, sitting here pigging out and you’re not eating.”
He eyed me and took the bacon. Biting into it as he answered, “I ate earlier.” and shrugged it off.
The door to the house opened and my grandmother stepped inside. Dropping everything to rush over and give me a tight hug. I hugged back just as tight. “Ouch yikes.. Grandma…” I muttered. She laughed sheepishly, pulling away. Looking at me and wincing as if she felt my pain.
“At least you’re alive.” she mused. “You can stay here while you heal. I’d rather you stay here while you heal.”
I nodded, happy to agree to it. If I were to go back to Seattle, I didn’t see Greg being much help at all. Besides, I thought to myself, La Push is home. I never wanted to leave to start with.
Embry was silently making his way towards the door and my grandmother stopped him. “Thank you for sticking around today, Embry.”
“It’s not a problem. If you need me, I’m right down the road.” he answered, giving my grandmother a smile. As he said it, we locked eyes all over again. I shuffled my feet. But I didn’t look down or away. I was getting lost in his eyes all over again.
Almost as soon as the door was closed behind him, my grandmother turned her attention to me. Lecturing me about my choice in men. Filling me in on the fact that apparently my ‘lover’ couldn’t be bothered to come and see that I was safe or even alive but damned if he wasn’t calling every ten minutes demanding me to call him back. Irritated because my grandmother apparently told him at one point if he wanted to talk to me so badly, he knew where I could be found. “He’s a bum.”
I sighed and nodded. Dropping my gaze to the glass of orange juice in front of me. “I know. I wish I could remember what the hell made me choose him…”
My grandmother eyed me in concern. After going through a long list of questions, noting the ones I had trouble recalling easily for my follow up with the hospital, she sighed. “At least you remember enough. And you’re still with me. If I lost you that night…” she paused.
I got the feeling that she wasn’t good at emotional things either. But unlike Greg, she did manage to show she cared in her own way.
“But you didn’t. I’m going to be alright.” I reassured her and she nodded. When the phone rang, we shared a look at let it keep ringing.
“If you want to talk to him, Merisa..”
“I think I’d rather focus on myself and healing for a change. Getting my whole memory back. I get the feeling if I talk to him, it’s only going to stress me out.” I admitted after a long pause.
The phone went silent.
My grandma cleared away the dishes and found the crutches that the doctor had given me to use in the aid of getting around. Then she went over all the things the doctor told her about my injuries and the healing process.
“What about my memory?” I asked, curious. Anxious to know what I might be up against. Grateful that I remembered the most basic things about myself that I kind of needed to know.
“The doctor thought you might have some memory loss. I believe he said it would be short term because of the side of your brain the injury occurred in? With a little time and patience you’ll be fine.” my grandmother slipped an arm around me and then added in a more thoughtful tone, “Maybe the parts you don’t remember clearly are a blessing, yeah?”
I eyed her, considering what she said. She might not be entirely wrong…
“Embry’s always been a kind young man. Quiet. Respectful.” my grandmother mused after a few seconds of quiet. I gave a soft laugh and muttered, “Yeah. He seemed like a good guy.”
I won’t bother lying.. I hope I see more of Embry while I’m staying here at my grandmother’s… Something tells me I definitely will...
Good Enough Pt.1 ( Topper x male reader)
Tumblr media
requested by @bxlynnx Topper Thornton and Sarah Cameron were dead news. The whole island guessed that already and got it finally confirmed when Sarah brought her new boyfriend to a party. John Booker Routledge. Or simply John (fucking) B(itch Bastard). His name alone made Topper’s blood boil. Being pissed off by only thinking about these two Topper put his weights aside and marched to the balcony of the room. What was Sarah even thinking when she replaced him with..this Pogue trash ? A fresh breeze tickles his bare chest as he closes his eyes breathing slowly in and out. There was no use in crying after Sarah. He could have everybody. Hell. Why does he even care ? .....Because he simply does. Topper truly did love Sarah and even if literally nobody would believe him....his heart shattered into million of pieces when he found out about her and John B. Wasn’t he a good enough for her ? Was he not a perfect boyfriend ? ...”Did she actually loved me ?”, he whispers to himself and looks at the beach. It was the place where they had their first date that turned into a nightmare..in a funny way. .... “ That’s it !” Topper knew that he would explode if he did not do anything to ease his mind. Revenge. Oh yeah..You better watch out John Bastard Routledge, ‘cause two can play this game ! Since Topper had no idea straightaway how to plot revenge against John B, he decided to just beat the shit out of him and then..maybe by then a better plan would occur to him. So he drove right away to his enemies’ house, plastered the helmet on his motorcyle and went for a direct attack. “Hey John B ~? Yeah right, you asshole..Get out !”, he screamed while pounding the door, knowing that Mr Routledge probably wasn’t at home which meant he could only find John B and his crew here..except- “We got it, big boy ! You’re pissed, jeez...Grow a pair,..you’re acting like a baby..”, scolded (y/n)  him as he opened the door rather unenthusiastic. (Y/N) was John B’s older brother...a guy you don’t fuck with. ‘Cause he decides with whom he fucks or not. So, in short : the bad boy of the Pogue. “ Johnny boi isn’t here ~” Topper knew just like everyone else that (y/n) was a total- “You don’t have to stare at me like that. I know that I’m a total snack ~” - douchebag who just kinda knows what the chicks want. Rolling his eyes at (y/n) comment, he just turns around walking back to his motorcycle. “ Hey, Thornton !”, confused Topper turns around “ I’m sorry that it did not work out for Sarah and you” What a bitch, making fun of him like that. “Sure..as if you would care about such stuff” Not waiting for a response, Topper just drives home. “You’ve definitly have to come to Jeff’s party today” “ Agreed...I mean, man....Come on ! Stop being a pussy...You’re no longer Sarah’s bitch. And the party is gonna be lit”. Knowing Rafe that meant drugs would come to play again. “Yeah, stop acting like you’re still Sarah’s bitch. It’s getting weird and Jeff’s party is tradition ”, adds Kelce to the conversation. Sometimes Topper wonders how these two dudes could become his best friends. “Alright,alright...Same time ?” There was no point in denying that Jeff’s party’s always were top-tier. Food of the highest quality, good music, high-proof alcohol and everyone had the time of their lives...well, almost everyone. Further away from the crowd of people in the villa and outside of it, one sad soul sat in a less crowded area staring into the flames of the bonfire close to him. It been hours ago since he saw his friends. Probably they were somewhere doing drugs or some other shit. Normaly he would have brought Sarah with him and the time would fly away... Again a sip of wodka ran through his throat, his mind slowly turning into jelly. Since it was really hot, Topper unbottened his shirt further and looked aimlessly around him. His eyes catched a familiar frame. Oh shit. What are they doing here ?! “..stupid Jeff !” Of course.. if you have a host whose girlfriend is a Pogue..the other odd creatures are feeling welcome too. Focused on ignoring his favourite..definitely drunk..couple, he didn’t notice that someone sat down next to him. “ Big Boy still pissed ?” “WOah..No..I mean..Why are you smelling like Ramen ?” “Like what ?” “....” “How many of these did you had already ?” Confused Topper looked at his cup. “  I dunno”, clueless he shrugs his shoulders “ like four-ish.” “Four-ish ?”, with his free hand (y/n)  grabbed something from the bottom and revealed two bottles of fancy stuff. “Up for the challenge ?” Neither one of them knew at this moment how these drinks would change the whole outcome of this night. “...So she cheated on Danny too ?”, a small giggle escaped (y/n)’s lips. “ Yeah..yeah...and then..then I became her next sucker for a time...” “Wow..that’s sucks” Both of them broke into a rage of laughter, even if there was nothing funny about it. (Y/N) leaned closer to Topper “ Where are your.. ‘buddies’..actually ?” “Somewhere..”, feeling a bit dizzy Topper placed his left hand on (y/n)’s thigh. “ I mean...I know what most people think of them..that they are jerks.. Weeell they kinda are..but..nahh so am I. ...We fit and have also good ..mo..moments...and shit like that. ... Even if I still kinda wish to have other friends sometimes..but..you know. What if end up being alone ?” “I don’t thi-” “I meaan..People want you to be real with them and then..When I’m talking about how shi..shitty I feel they are...OHHH stop it ! We don’t annoy you with our struggle either, so don’t being a selfish whiny biitch !” “ You are not a whi-” “Not that I have someone to talk to about”, plastered he tapped his chest “THAT...maybe my mum...but she hates me now..dunno why she started with that actually..just kinda happened..I mean I always been be suuuper shy and quiet boo..so you what could I have done... WrOng” “...” A sudden heat rose up Topper’s head. “S-Sorry I’m talking.. like talking..too much..Sorry” “Don’t be. ...You know I also don’t have someone to talk about my feelings. And I guess I’m okay..even though I reaally don’t feel like it..maybe ? Rat’s ass....Let’s talk about something else ! Topper could swear they kept on talking for months. But he was also super drunk, so maybe only a few hours past when some girl walked straight towards them. “Oh hey (y/n) ! It’s been a while since we last saw each other-” “Who are you ?” Suprised the girl stopped in her tracks. “It’s me...your ex..(r/n)..hehe...It’s been only two months since our break up...” Confused (y/n) looked at Topper. “Was I really stu-stupid enough to date ...that ?”, asked (y/n) Topper shocked and began laughing when (r/n) stormed angry away. The alcohol was getting the best of them. “Oh man..”, chuckled Topper as he looked away. “You’re really..really,really a dick !” Finding that statement somehow funny, (y/n) began laughing again. “ Is that so ?” “Mhm..”,nodded Topper as he took a sip. (Y/N) joined him and gave him a big smile. His cheeks were flushed. His soul at peace. His brain...not present. So it had to happen that (y/n) dropped that bomb on Topper. “..Well... Well,you know big boy, I guess there is some truth in the saying ‘You are what you eat’ after all..” Topper spitted out his drink and looked at (y/n) who drank from his drink again not realizing what he just had done. “..wHuT ???” Silence. “..Oh..upsi” Next thing Topper knew, he threw up big time.
Want You Pt. 1
--Harry is June’s ex. June is Y/N’s best friend. Months after the break up the two meet again, and there is an attraction Y/N is just not ready to address.--
I want to thank @for-fucks-sake-h @andwhenshesays and @oh-honey-styles for letting me participate in this challenge. As a new writer its a bit intimidating but I hope y’all enjoy :)
warning: mentions of smut, but nothing too juice... yet.
Y/N couldn’t believe it.
Of all the damn colleges in the country, he had to attend the same one as her. And out of all the parties that were happening tonight, he had to be at the same one she was.
She turned away from the vibrant green eyes of Harry Styles and wished the ground would swallow him whole. She was looking forward to getting wasted tonight. She had a tough week with four exams, her mother once again pushing her buttons and something went wrong in the system and Y/N couldn’t sign up for the classes she needs next quarter. Now she is a fourth-year student and is going to fall behind on her major. Y/N was over all of it. Seeing Harry was just icing on top. He was her best friend June’s ex-boyfriend.
And a complete douchebag.
He’s also really fucking attractive.
Hoping the dancing bodies and the loud music would distract him and not having him come her way, Y/N grabs her roommate’s hand and starts to walk farther into the room. Y/N doesn’t know how Carrie convinced her to go to a party on a Thursday, and yet here she is. When they enter the next room, Y/N tells Carrie who she saw.
“Is he here?” Carrie asks over the music.
With a nod of her head, “I thought I saw the last of him last year! June had said that he was planning to transfer out. I guess he didn’t.”
With a shrug, Carrie gulped her beverage from the red solo cup.
“I should tell that jerk what I think of him.” Y/N seethes taking in her surroundings to see if he is anywhere near her.
“You could say whatever the hell you want, but it won’t bother him. Especially when he practically has an endless supply of pussy.”
Immediately, Y/N pictured Harry between her legs. His green eyes look up at her, while his tongue fucks her pussy. She has to clench her thighs and take a deep breath. She pushes the guilt away from her mind and tells herself that she’s too drunk and was thinking unclearly. But fuck, he is hot. But no matter how attractive he is, he is still an asshat.
“There are so many stories about that boy’s dick,” Carrie states over her cup, dreamily.
Y/N looks over at her friend in shock, “What?! That was before they broke up! All I had to do was wait until June was wasted and she couldn’t stop talking about how good he gave it.”
The two friends move to a quiet corner, Carrie looking for a possible partner for the night. It takes about five minutes, then Carrie is leaving Y/N for the guy that was undressing her with his eyes across the room. Two minutes later, she’s taking his hand and disappears somewhere in the house.
With a heavy sigh, Y/N pulls out her phone and starts scrolling through her socials. It doesn't take Harry even two minutes to slide right up to her. She tries to ignore him and continues to look at the pictures of people. But she can feel his eyes on her. She feels his eyes travel up and down her body until they rest on her face.
She finally snaps. “What do you want?” she all but snarls.
With a slight laugh, he leans his forearm onto the wall she’s leaning against. “Well, I want to talk to you.”
“Talk to me? Why would you want to talk to me?” Y/N asks, “we aren’t friends, not even close! Especially not after what you did to June!”
Harry flinched.Y/N sees the look of pain and hurt flash across his face. But seconds later the emotion is wiped clean and is replaced with that flippant, self-assured, asshole persona that fits him so well.
“Well, we can become friends, can’t we love?” There is a dangerous gleam in his eye that had the hair on the back of her neck rising. “We can get to know each other.”
Something about the way he says that makes Y/N shiver with anticipation. The fire in his eyes’s putting her on edge. Looking into his forest green eyes, a shiver starts from the base of her spine and travels up and around her body. She can feel her nipples tighten. And prays to god that her padded bra keeps them hidden.
Y/N was a year younger than him, and when June and Harry had broken up, she had finally moved to the college town just a couple of months before. So she wasn’t lying when it came to friendship Harry Styles. He might have dated her best friend for almost six months, but she only met him a handful of times. And that was after she finally gave up on commuting to school and found a small, cheap studio apartment for herself. Thanks to all the scholarships and grants she had received, she didn’t have to worry about a roommate. And working as a waitress at a local diner helps with her other expenses. The weeks later, June and Harry were no longer together. Y/N always assumed it was a messy break up because it led to June transferring to a different college on the other side of the country.
“Why would I want to be friends with you?” she asks. “You cheated on my best friend.”
He clenches his jaw and avoids her eyes. He looks like he’s in an argument with himself. But once again when he turns to her he’s showing her his easy-going smile, the smile that had so many girls swooning because of his dimples. Harry’s eyes travel up and down her form and he doesn’t even try to hide his appraisal.
“You look really good tonight, Y/N. Really good,” he laughs, covering his face to hid his blush. “Fuck, I saw you from across the room, you dress make your legs… damn… your legs look like they go on forever.”
Y/N hates herself for blushing. She hopes the darkness that consumes the house helps her hide her heated cheeks. She’s torn. One part of her is eating up the compliments from the attractive guy that’s feeding them to her, leaving her hot and horny. And another part of her fighting the attraction and reminding her of her loyalty to her best friend.
She does the one thing she can, she crosses her arms and looks away.
Taking his snapback off his head, Harry runs his hands through his hair and puts it back. “Look… is it because of the way things ended with June the only reason that is keeping you from letting me get to know you better?”
Turning back toward him, Y/N sees a slight frown on his face, causing creases on his forehead.
“What do you mean only thing? How can you come to me and act like you cheating on a girl, who you were in a serious relationship with, who was so in love with you, not a big deal?!”
“I never said that,” he replies calmly. “I asked if that was the only thing keeping you from maybe not hating my juts.”
Looking up at him in confusion, Y/N can’t help but question what he was asking her.
The desire to put him in his place overcomes her. “I don’t like you in general,” Y/N starts. “Cheating is one obvious reason, but you are arrogant and annoying. You are used to getting your way, especially when it comes to the number of girls you’ve been with. It makes me uncomfortable.”
Throwing his head back, a deep laugh escapes from Harry. He looks absolutely gorgeous. His laugh seemed to come from deep in his belly, his smile pops out his dimples and lights up his face. He looks down at Y/N with amusement twinkling in his eyes.
“Seems to me someone is uncomfortable with their sexuality.”
Y/N’s jaw drops. “What?! No! That’s not true! You’re - Just because I’m… I’m not attracted to you!” she stutters. Her cheeks heat up at the bald-faced lie she tells him.
“It’s alright love, I have that effect on a lot of women,” he responds with a smirk.
With a scowl on her face, Y/N looks at him with disgust. “Good for you! Why don’t you try putting your moves on one of them?” she gestures to the number of college girls that are at the party. Most of them are giving them side-eyes, clearly wondering why Harry would be giving Y/N his company. “Because I’m definitely not interested.” Looking him dead in the eyes. “Especially not a guy that would cheat on a woman. Whether she is my best friend or not. It highlights your character and its a trait that I am not attracted to.”
Harry’s cocky smile falls off his face. “I didn’t cheat on June.”
His face goes sober, catching Y/N off guard. She takes a moment to study him, looking for any hint of a lie. She doesn’t find one.
She tries to say something, but he beats her to it.
“You don’t have to believe me. I highly doubt that you will, but the chance that you do - the chance that you know, might not… hate me anymore…I figured that you should know. I never cheated on June.”
“And I am supposed to just… believe you?” Y/N asks, throwing her hands up in the air.
“You can do what you want Y/N,” he laughs, “I’m just trying to tell you my side of the story. Do you want to know what happened? I told her that there was someone else and she just assumed. I just never made the effort to correct her. That’s what ended us. I encourage you to ask her.”
He stands straight and starts to walk away. Harry had taken two steps before he came back to her. He wraps an arm around her waist and puts his other arm against the wall behind her. “Maybe knowing that I’m not the asshole you think I am will make it easier on you to accept that you want me just as bad as I want you.” He says to her. Harry brushes a couple to strands of hair out of her face and soft kiss her cheek before turning around and leaving her alone for the rest of the night.
~~~~~~~~
The next day, Y/N decides to do some investigating.
Y/N and June tried to keep in contact with each other since she transferred. They would text each other a couple of times a week and try their hand at calling each other at least once a week. But it has been a couple of months since the last time they called each other.
So, that morning, Y/N sends June a text telling her that she ran into her asshole of an ex last night and informed her that she put him in his place. But, she also tried to dig for more information. Y/N had never gotten the whole story from June, Y/N knew that she was planning to transfer schools after her second year and Harry had said that he would join her too. But by the time June was getting ready to leave, they had broken up. And Y/N being the supportive and helpful friend she is, Y/N helped June not only pack and eat endless pints of ice cream and drank more than their fair share of wine. And plenty of chick-flicks to make her feel better.
When Y/N got a response from her, to say she was confused was putting it lightly.
Okay, so I may have overreacted and made him look worse then what was actually going down. I appreciate your loyalty as always! Haha, I was just super into him and things are going good. But then out of now where he tells me that there is someone else. I guess I never did find out if he slept with her or not but I didn’t give him the chance to explain himself. Whatever, I’m over it. He texted me a couple of weeks ago apologizing again. I don’t plan on becoming his friend, but I don’t hate him anymore. Talk to you soon Y/N. xoxo.
After rereading what was sent to her, Y/N started to think that maybe Harry Styles is as bad as she thinks. And that just maybe, he is telling the truth.
She pushed the thought from her mind and started to work on her fourth-year thesis.
It isn’t until late at night when she thinks of him again. So maybe he didn’t cheat on June, but that doesn’t mean she can stand the guy. He makes her uncomfortable. And Y/N is pretty sure that he is just looking for a quick fuck, which she isn’t entirely against. But when the guy is an arrogant son of a bitch, Y/N does her best to avoid them.
~~~~~~~~
Sunday morning, Y/N does her best to be productive. Looking around her apartment to see what chore she should start with, she picks up her hamper and the dirty clothes thrown on the floor and goes downstairs to start her laundry. She’s wearing her only clean clothes, a pair of boy shorts that she usually wears to bed (because they barely cover her ass) and a stretchy tank top without a bra. She gets to the laundry room and starts to separate her dirty clothes.
“If this isn’t the best thing I’ve seen all day!”
Y/N freezes at the sound of the voice that rings through the room. She’s bent over the washer stuffing her clothes, realizing that she is probably exposing more than half her ass. She stands straight and looks over her shoulder, and sure enough. It’s Harry freaking Styles. He seems to be holding a bag of laundry over his shoulder. He’s wearing athletic shorts and a plain white tee. His cocky smirk irritates Y/N further.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
“I thought this room was for the whole building,” he starts walking to the empty washer next to her and starts loading his clothes. “I was told that anyone who lives here can use it.”
Y/N’s eyes widen and her jaw drops. She tries to convince herself that her heart is racing because she is just irritated. “You’re fucking joking right?”
“Nope,” Harry says, popping the p. “We are neighbors” his dimples peek out as he grins. “I’m 2C. Where are you?” He adds detergent to his machine and starts the wash cycle.
“3C” she replies, watching him carefully, “are you stalking me now?”
He breaks into a deep laugh. Going as far as clutching his flat stomach. “I can assure you, it is 100% a pure coincidence, love.”
With a sigh of frustration, Y/N closes her washer's lid and starts her wash cycle. She glances at him and sees him leaning against the machine and checking her out. His jade color eyes move slowly over her body and Y/N finds it difficult to breathe. Her nipples grow hard. Realizing she isn’t wearing a bra, she crosses her arms across her chest.
Suddenly, he eagerly asks her if she talked to June and if she backed him up.
“I did, congrats, I guess your character isn't all that bad. But I still can’t stand you.”
Harry moves his hand to cover his heart. “You wound me, love. You know I’m not a two-timing type of guy, can’t you ease up on me a little?”
“No” Y/N scowls. She enjoys him begging for her attention. She feels as if it's the first time he is working for something in his life.
“Playing hard to get then?” he teases. His green eyes light up with amusement.
“Or maybe not all women want you like that” Y/N scoffs.
That arrogant smirk reappearing, Harry leans toward her. “That hasn’t happened yet.”
Resisting the urge to scream, Y/N rolls her eyes and turns to collect her stuff. Just as she is about to comment, hoping to get the last word, two girls walk into the laundry room. They both stop when they see Harry. Blatantly check him out, and clearly liking what they see.
“Hi, I’m Amelia and this is my roommate Alexis. Did you just move in?” she asks, twirling her hair around her finger.
Harry steps in front of Y/N and shakes their hands. Y/N clenches her jaw and tries to convince herself that she’s annoyed because she can’t stand Harry, not because of the two other girls hitting on him.
Suddenly, Y/N doesn’t feel comfortable leaving the laundry room, so she tries to prolong her stay by making it look like she is doing something while the others make small talk.
Y/N’s ears perk when she hears Amelia offer Harry a tour of the building and the neighborhood. But Y/N knows what type of tour Amelia really wants to give Harry. A strong arm wraps itself around her waist and pulls her closer to Harry’s body. His thumb rubs circles on her hip bone that was exposed from her tank top rising.
“That’s very sweet of you, but Y/N just offered to do that, right?” he’s only looking at her. Heat races throughout her body and tingles travel down her spine.
Looking up at him with wide eyes. She finds it fascinating that one person who she finds attractive can be just as infuriating. “Right,” she confirms with a fake smile.
She would rather play along rather than letting these skanks sink their claws into Harry and spread whatever diseases they carry. Harry holds on to her while the two girls get their now dry clothes and leave the room. Y/N wiggles out of Harry’s grip and goes to grab her hamper and phone. But Harry beats her to it.
“What are you doing?!” Y/N shrills. She suppresses the urge to stomp her foot like a three-year-old throwing a tantrum.
He messes around on her phone for a minute before giving it back to her. “There. I gave you my number and texted myself, so I have your number. We are going to start working on ‘not hating my guts’ thing, yeah?” he tells her with a smile.
Whirling around Y/N stomps out of the laundry room. Looking over her shoulder, “Don’t bet on it,” she shouts over her shoulder.
~~~~~~~~
It's later in the evening when someone knocks on Y/N’s door. She just finished cooking herself dinner and had Netflix queued. When she answers it, a shirtless Harry Styles is standing in the hallway. His tattoos stand out against his tanned skin. Y/N’s mouth waters. His body is built and his muscles are defined in all the right places. His abs are just tight enough to stand out without him trying too hard. He’s holding a tupperware box in his hand. Y/N feels heat leak between her legs.
She quickly drags her eyes up to look at him. “What do you want?” she snaps, hoping once again that he can’t see her hard nipples. Irritation streams through her body. Her body acting as a traitor even though her brain knows that she doesn’t want anything to do with him.
“I thought what better way to convince you that I’m not an asshole,” he starts, “than by baking you chocolate chip cookies… and brownies.”
“Huh?”
“I wasn’t sure what you liked and wanted to give you something you might like. I use to work at my gran’s bakery and she taught me how to bake really well.”
Taking the box from him Y/N is flabbergasted. Once again she sees a side to Harry she didn’t think he had. And it's thrown her out of the loop. “Well, um… thanks.” she stands there awkwardly, unsure what else to say.
Harry’s forest-green eyes are looking at her. His eyes darken and he takes a step toward Y/N. “One more thing.” He wraps his arms around her waist and dips his head. He sucks on the skin just below her ear. “I can fuck pretty well too,” he whispers. His lips lingering at the shell of her ear.
Before Y/N can say a word, Harry turns around and walks away.
In a daze, Y/N shuts the door and moves to her couch and collapses. Only two words enter her mind. ‘Well, fuck.’

“Mom, I’m not in the mood for one of those I told you so calls.” You sniffled into the phone, hiding further into your blanket, the sappy romance movie you put on, only making you want to cry harder. “I thought Dallas was supposed to be a fresh start? Now the whole reason you moved there is leaving.” She muttered, you scoffed, “wow thanks mom, way to make me feel better.” You squeaked out, “it’s going to be a real fresh start now, he’s leaving, and I have a life here now, I have friends.” You defended yourself before she could go into the whole ‘when are you moving home’ rant. “I know honey, but still, I don’t know if you should be alone right now.” She tried to play concern, but after everything else she had just said, you found it hard to believe. “I’m not alone.” You muttered in defeat, not wanting her to know who was here because that was a whole other speech. “Oh is Jamie there? You know, honey, I think you two would just be great together.” She spoke excitedly, you rolled your eyes as you heard him approaching. “Mom, it’s not like that, ok? He’s got a date this weekend anyways.” You whispered, “oh.” She sighed, “listen I gotta go, I’ll talk to you soon.” You responded, “love you.” You added, she repeated the words before you could hang up. “I said you weren’t allowed to cry while I was gone.” Jamie chastised jokingly, falling down on the couch beside you. “My mom was just being my mom.” You sighed, not thinking anything of her words, you two were just friends. “I’m sorry.” Jamie muttered, squeezing your knee reassuringly as he handed you the chocolate he had just gone searching for.
-2 years ago-
“What?” You barely spoke above a whisper, this truly couldn’t be happening. “I can’t, I can’t do this anymore, it’s just not working.” Justin spoke, your apparently now ex boyfriend, “how long?” You questioned, sitting on the edge of the couch, he stood awkwardly in your living room, shifting his weight. “If you can’t be honest, you shouldn’t have came to do this in person.” You snapped, if looks could kill, he’d be dead. “I’m trying to do the right thing, Y/N.” He quipped, freezing when you stood up again, “no, Justin, you’re trying to right the wrong you made, do you think I just didn’t notice the lipstick on your shirt the other day.” You spoke, venom dripping in your tone, god how you were tired of guy after guy, coming in and seeming so great, and then just leaving. “That’s not what it-“ “save your breath, just leave.” You cut him off, looking up at him with teary eyes. You couldn’t even feel guilty for being rude, he cheated, he didn’t deserve your tears, he was a jerk. You stared at the floor as you heard him shuffling out of your apartment, then the emotions hit you, and you just needed to get out of there, even for an hour to clear your head. So you got in the car, and you drove, you drove not having a plan in mind of where to go, and then you realized the neighborhood you were in. You made your way down the streets, a pang of hurt hit you for a second as you drove past his house, his girlfriends car in the driveway. You had no right or reason to feel this way, he was just a friend, of course, so you just rolled past his house, making your way back to your apartment, to wallow in your own tears for a while.
-1 year ago-
You sat up in your bed, hesitant as the knocking on your door persisted, your eyes shooting to the time on your phone, who the hell was knocking on your door at nearly one am. You quietly stepped onto your feet, tiptoeing towards the door, “Y/N?” Jamie slurred from the other side of the door, your heart stopped for a moment, “Jamie?” You came to your senses, scrambling to unlock the door, you opened it and the scent of beer hit you immediately. “What’s wrong?” You questioned when he blankly stared at you, “we broke up.” He muttered, but he didn’t sound hurt, that could just be from all the alcohol he consumed. “Oh, Jam, I’m sorry.” You whispered, pulling him inside, “careful there bud.” You laughed when he stumbled, “can I,” he hiccuped, “can I stay tonight?” He asked, foggy eyes looking down at you. “Yeah, of course.” You answered, leading him towards your room. “The couch?” He stuttered out, confusion in his slurred voice. “Jamie, I’m not making you sleep on the couch, we’re both adults here.” You chastised, knowing it was basically falling on deaf ears, as he nodded lazily. “Alright, I’m going to at least need you to help me get you to the bed.” You giggled, groaning as Jamie nearly stepped on your foot. “I’m sorry!” He gasped out comically, “Jesus, you’re going to hurt in the morning.”
-now-
Your thoughts dwindled away as you pulled up to his house after a long day at work, the all too familiar giddiness of seeing him filled your chest. Jamie was sitting on the front porch step, talking on the phone as he watched you pull up, a grin covering his face. You put the car in park as he stood up, you gathered your things, shoving them into your purse as Jamie approached your car. You were about to open the door but he beat you too it, “hi baby.” He smiled down at you, “hi.” You responded, happily climbing out of the car. Arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him in for a long kiss, “hmm, well, I missed you too.” He laughed, not used to such a dramatic welcome. “It was a long day, and I just wanted to see you.” You mumbled against his chest, smiling as you could feel the laughter bubbling in him before you could hear it. “I’m sorry it was a long day but I’ll happily take that greeting anytime.” He spoke against your hair, pulling you along to go inside as the wind started picking up, a chill in the breeze. You entered the house, expertly making your way around, despite not living there, but you both knew it was coming. “Don’t ask, not yet, I’m still thinking.” You muttered, knowing he was about to ask what happened, and deep down you knew you were over analyzing, but your mind wandered to the day again.
“Justin?” You all but choked on the air you were breathing in when you looked up at your office door, “what-why are you here?” You stammered out, mentally cursing yourself for feeling so distracted by his presence. “I was nearby, and uh, I heard you still worked here, I just had to see it for myself.” He explained, shoving his hands into his pockets, but not before you caught sight of the steel ring on his finger. “Wow.” You muttered, and he knew you had seen it. “Yeah,” he paused to laugh, a look of love in his eyes as he thought about the girl he ended up with. “I thought you hated this job.” He changed the subject, both of you feeling a little less tense, he was married, you had a long term boyfriend, he stepped into the office. “I did, but,” you paused, glancing at the picture on your desk of you and Jamie from just a couple months ago at the winter classic, grins covering your faces. “Jamie showed me how to make it better, and well, look at me now.” You laughed softly, motioning to your office, one of the perks of the promotion you had gotten. “Jamie?” Justin’s eyes snapped up at that, and then he noticed the little touches of Jamie around your office, a couple of pictures, a stars hoodie meticulously folded in the corner for the late nights you work. And for some reason, you were expecting Justin to be angry, even though he had no right to be. “I’m happy for you two, it was bound to happen eventually.” Justin admitted, smiling softly at you over the desk. “Yeah, I guess you could say we were ignoring all the signs.” You spoke up, arms lightly crossed in front of your frame, “oh please, you were oblivious to the signs.” He couldn’t help but laugh, you blushed a little, “I should get going, it was nice to see you again, Y/N.” He gave you a quick hug, and you didn’t realize there was any closure you needed from him, but it felt good to know it was never a hard thing for him to move on either. That everything really has led you to Jamie.
“Wanna talk about it now?” Jamie inquired, pulling your back flush to his front as you laid out on the couch, you’d cooked and ate, now fresh from a shower.“Justin came in today.” You whispered, feeling him tense behind you, “oh.” He mumbled, arms tightening around you, “what did he have to say?” Jamie questioned. You turned in his hold, wrapping your arms around his waist, “hey, nothing bad happened.” You soothed, “it just made me think about how stupid I was to not realize you were in front of me the whole time.” You whispered, he ran his hands down your arms until he reached your fingers, lacing them with his. “It’s alright, I did the same thing.” He reminded you, thinking back to the night he got absolutely hammered and spent the night at your house, the night he realized he didn’t just love you, he was in love with you. “You did, if only we both had listened to my mom.” You teased with an eye roll, his eyes crinkled with laughter, “don’t ever let her hear you say that.” He snickered, swinging your arms to the side. “Oh definitely not.” You smiled up at him, “Jamie.” You spoke, catching his attention, his eyes looked back towards you and away from the tv, “I love you.” You whispered, resting your chin on his chest, he dropped your hands and opted to cover each of your cheeks with his palms, fingers brushing back your damp hair. “I love you.” He repeated, continuing to look down at you lovingly, “babe, this is the part where you kiss me and then we go back to our tv show.” You teased, shrieking when he carefully but quickly pulled you up to his face, leaving a bunch of disgustingly loud kisses across your face, his beard tickling your skin. He finally settled for one last proper kiss before releasing you from his grasp and staring at the tv, “babe, this is the part where you go back to our show.” He mimicked you, leaving out the kiss part. “You’re a pain.” You rolled your eyes, using his shirt to wipe off the wetness he left behind on your face. “You don’t mean that.” He faked offense, a hand resting over his heart. “No, I don’t. Even when you annoy me, I wouldn’t have it any other way.” You admitted, returning to your earlier position, resting back against his chest. “Aw, baby, that was so cheesy.” He teased, fingers ghosting over your sides to make you squirm, “don’t push your luck, Benn, I can make you sleep on the couch now.” “That’s rude.”

As a wedding photographer, you were definitely put off with the whole overpriced over the top wedding culture that infected LA. And you had to deal with a plenty couples and guests that were just straight jerks, entitled brats, and thought they could do your job on the freaking iPhone 4.
That said, sometimes it did get to you. You wanted it. Well some of it. None of the family arguments or drama but the ability to stand with your partner and dedicate yourselves to each other in front of your family and friends.
But alas, that didn’t seem to be in the cards for you. You and Lucifer had been together almost five years now and there was nothing that indicated he wanted to take the next step with you.
Sure marriage seemed trivial when you were with the literal Devil, but you couldn’t help but want something more. Of course you trusted him, you knew his flirting was harmless and he would never think of acting on his - or someone else’s - desires.
But… still
Sure you should talk to him like an adult and tell him how you were feeling but that doesn’t always happen.
You had come home after a Sunday wedding, a Catholic one nonetheless. With a full mass. And a reception across town from the ceremony. To say you were exhausted was an understatement.
The only consolation was that the couple was going on a technology-free honeymoon for a few weeks and wouldn’t be bothering you for photos tomorrow like some clients.
Sore feet, a slight headache, and just general annoyance were plaguing you. So it’s no wonder a fight broke out.
You were pouring yourself a glass of water when the elevator doors opened, revealing Lucifer. You paid him no mind but apparently he had other plans.
“Another wedding?”, he sighed as he gave you a once over.
You frowned at that, “Yep”, you bit back with a touch too much of bitterness.
“I don’t understand why you insist on doing those silly things.”
You slammed your glass down.
“Silly?” You spat. “Silly, Lucifer?”
He was looking at you, shocked but annoyed at your outburst.
“Yes, silly, darling. They’re just excuses to party and for women to pretend like they’re the most important princess in the world.”
You stepped forward and pointed your finger at him.
“Newsflash, Morningstar. Some people just want something more than being boyfriend and girlfriend for the rest of their lives.”
“Rest of their lives? Is this about us? It’s only been five years, Y/N.”
“Yeah, and some of these fucks get married after one. It’s been five years, Lucifer, and nothing has changed. You haven’t mentioned marriage once aside from criticizing my clients.”
“And what? You want to get married? Is that what this is about?”
“Yes, for God’s sake!”, you shouted.
“Well why didn’t you just say that?”
“Because, Lucifer, I know you don’t. And seemingly never will.”
His eyes narrowed at that. “And you’re so sure of that? Without having even spoken to me?”
You crossed your arms and looked at him accusingly.
“You want to get married?”
Lucifer paused at that, mouth open but saying nothing.
“That’s what I thought.” Tears started to build up in your eyes. “Well. I think that shows this isn’t meant to be. Wish you wouldn’t have wasted so much of my time.”
“Y/N….”
“It’s over, Lucifer. I’ll get my stuff and get out of your life by the end of the week.”
You didn’t look back as you stepped into the elevator and let the doors close.
— — —
15 months later...
‘Oh fuck’, was your first thought.
Not because there was a dead person in front of you, but because you witnessed it. And because you witnessed it, you’d need to go down to the station. And you just knew you would run into Lucifer.
You looked down at your phone to send a text to Dan. You hadn’t spoken since you and Lucifer broke up so you kept it brief. Hopefully he’d give you a break.
-Just witnessed a drive-by on 15th & Hill. Can I give my statement at a later time when you know who won’t be there?-
Your phone rang and you cursed. You thought about just shutting off your phone but you knew that would just cause more trouble.
You clicked accept and brought the phone to your ear.
“Hey D-“
“Are you alright, Y/N? Are you still on the scene? Stay where you are. We’re on our way.”
“Dan! I’m fine. I’m fine.” You pressed.
“And who do you mean by we? I’d prefer to not have to see anyone I don’t need to.”
“Sorry, Y/N, but Chloe and Lucifer are already on their way to the scene. I can be the one to take your statement but I won’t be able to get there before them.”
‘Great’, you thought.
You sighed, “That’s fine, Dan. See you soon.”
“See you soon.”
You hung up and looked around. A small crowd had begun to form.
‘Might as well try to blend in’.
You spent the next few minutes on your phone, trying to blend in with the crowd and keep your head down.
A throat pointedly cleared behind you and you knew who it was before you turned.
You met the eyes of Lucifer, unable to look away. He was trying to mask whatever emotions he was feeling and gave you a fake sugary sweet smile.
“A little douchie told me you witnessed the shooting. I have to say I’m glad you’re alright but I’m rather surprised you called Daniel. Actually, I guess I’m not since you blocked my number and all that.”
You looked down. You didn’t want to just go out and say ‘I was trying to avoid you because I was - and still am - broken hearted’, so instead you just looked away.
“Lucifer!”, Chloe yelled from her place above the body.
She looked at you and smiled with a visible amount of pity clear on her face.
“Well. If you’ll excuse me, Y/N.” He said with a huff, shrugging his suit jacket and straightening his cuff links.
Cuff links, you noted, that weren’t the ones you had gotten him for your third anniversary and had worn ever since.
You let out the breath you had been holding and slumped as he walked back to the scene.
Thankfully, Chloe was able to keep Lucifer preoccupied for the next few minutes until Dan arrived.
You felt mixed feelings seeing your old friend and ex-boyfriend’s coworker but relief overcame everything else.
At least you could get out of there.
Dan walked over to you with open arms. You accepted the hug and gave him a thankful smile.
“Well, wanna hop in and head over to the station? Shouldn’t take more than an hour.”
You shrugged, “Sounds good. Thanks again, Dan. Hope I’m not being too much of a bother.”
He waved his hand, “Nah, gives me a chance to get some fresh air. Plus I haven’t seen you in forever.”
You gave an awkward smile at that and didn’t comment. You didn’t know what all Lucifer had said about your breakup and realized how awkward the situation was.
Biting your tongue, you walked to the car and hopped in. Thankfully, Dan was pretty silent, turning on the radio to instead fill the air.
Once at the station, you walked in and were hit with a wave of memories. You would often come down to grab lunch with Lucifer, help celebrate birthdays, or bring treats to help when the team was dealing with a difficult case.
You tried to steel your face but Dan was already looking at you.
Thankfully he didn’t say anything. Opting instead to lead you to the interrogation room.
Once inside you sat down at the metal table. You took a moment to breathe, just trying to get through this then you could go back to how things were.
When you looked up at Dan, you saw him standing by the door, looking somewhat nervous.
“Hey, uh, can I ask you something?”, he asked while moving to sit down across from you.
You nodded. Fairly certain what he was going to ask about.
“What happened with you and Lucifer? I mean... you guys seemed lso happy.”
“Lu didn’t tell you?”
“Nah. None of the details anyway. Just that you had some big fight and he was an idiot about it.”
You chuckled dryly. “Yeah, that’s one way to put it. I mean, I was too. Probably more so than him.”
You cleared your throat, “Anyway, that’s behind me. I mean it’s been over a year, it’s time to move on.”
“You really think so?”, Dan asked.
“Yeah. Well I’m sure he already has. And then some. So I might as well...” you saw Dan looking at you like you sprouted another head. “What?”
He laughed, “Nothin’. I just...” he cocked his head and paused, trying to think of how best to phrase it.
“Between you and me, that’s not the case.”
You gave a half smile, knowing what he was trying to say.
“And who knows? It might be worth trying again.”
“I don’t think there’s any fixing things.” You sighed and lowered your head.
Dan gave you a gentle nudge on the shoulder across the table. Like he had so many times before.
“People reconcile all the time. I mean, look at me and Chloe.”
You looked up again at that.
“You two are officially back together?”
“Yeah,” he said with a laugh. “Surprisingly it’s thanks to Luc-“
He coughed awkwardly. “Well. Anyway... want to get into your statement?”
You sighed. Relieved to be talking about the shooting rather than hear more about your ex.
— — —
You stood up after giving your statement to Dan. He went to open the door but paused.
“Hey, I know things... you know... Anyway, it was good seeing you, Y/N. Even under these circumstances. You don’t have to be a stranger.”
You smiled sadly at that.
“Yeah. It was good to see you too. I’m happy to hear about you and Chlo.”
Dan smiled and pressed the file in his hands.
“Well, ready to go?”
“Yep. No offense but I just want to go home.”
He laughed in response to that, “Yeah I get that. Lucifer always said you never liked the whole crime thing.”
You started to laugh but fell silent, realizing how easy it was to fall back into your friendship with Dan and just how much you missed your old life.
Dan opened the door for you and you walked through. Unhappy but not surprised at the sight before you. Lucifer stood on the bottom of the stairs.
“Hey, you good?” Dan muttered to you, placing a hand on your shoulder.
You kept your eyes on Lucifer, who prickled at the sight of Dan touching you.
You looked away and smiled at Dan.
“Yeah. Thanks.”
You walked up to Lucifer and smiled briefly before having to take your eyes away. It was hard just being near him. Looking into those beautiful brown eyes was simply too much.
Lucifer smiled softly at you, that cautious, nervous smile he wore when you two had first started dating.
“Let me drive you home?”
You wanted to agree but then remembered home wasn’t what it had been for so long. Now you were in a new home. And you were unsure about letting him inside it. It was a sanctuary from him. You tried desperately to focus on life without him and it helped having a place he had never been.
“I...” you were unsure of what to do until you saw the pleading look in his eyes. You relented.
“Sure”
You walked side by side with Lucifer, and it felt so strange not holding hands or being close. You stopped once you entered the parking garage. For some reason your didn’t realize you’d be taking the Corvette.
You had so many memories in the passenger seat of that car. Driving through the hills and the wind flowing through your hair, late night drives with music blasting and singing together at the top of your lungs, holding hands on the shift, peppering kisses on his cheek and lips at red lights...
It was too much.
All too much.
Tears started to come forward and you sniffled, trying to conceal your emotions but only achieving in alerting him. I mean, you had stopped in your tracks at the sight of the Corvette and were now trying not to cry. But still, it was embarrassing.
And how would you ride in his car next to him? Being so close to him, in the car you two shared so many memories in, taking him to your new home.
House, not home. He was home. And nowhere you were without would ever be home.
Too much.
You wrung your hands, starting to panic. “I, uh, thanks for the offer Luci, but I actually forgot something inside so go ahead without me.”
It was a shitty lie that you knew Lucifer saw right through, angelic abilities or not. He looked down and tossed the keys in his hand before putting them back in his pocket.
“Right. Well, have a good night, Y/N/N.”
He tried to smile at you but it was just a pitiful look. You met his eyes once more, trying to ignore their shiny mistiness that matched yours.
You smiled one last time, knowing the dam would break any moment. You couldn’t trust your voice so you simply nodded and turned around to walk back.
Once you exited the garage and out of sight, you let out a sob as your back hit the concrete wall. This was all too much. There was too much pain, guilt, regret, and still... love.
That’s what was hardest about seeing him again. The love that was still there and would never leave.
— — —
Once the Uber dropped you off and you went inside your house, you slumped against the wall.
That night, all you could bring yourself to do was cry yourself to sleep.
— — —
The next morning you woke up to a missed call and voicemail. It was from the number you had blocked, then unblocked, then deleted, but never forgot.
You pressed the phone to your ear and heard the soft voice your heard a thousand times before.
“Hello, love. I’m glad to see my call went through. Though I suppose you’re still ignoring my calls. Or sleeping. You always were a sound sleeper... Anyway, just wanted to make sure you got home alright. The Detective said there’s nothing to worry about with the drive-by. Just a silly turf war so we passed it on the gang unit. So... I suppose we won’t run into each other again. It was nice to see you though, darling. I... I miss you.”
There was an extended pause at the end of the message and you expected more but were only met with silence as the voicemail ended.
You looked down at your phone, finger hesitating above the return call button. You didn’t move, instead letting the screen darken.
— — —
You had been avoiding your phone like the plague all morning and afternoon. Doing everything you could to avoid it. You cleaned the house, did laundry, and took a long shower. But finally, you gave in and grabbed it once more.
You saw no messages or missed calls and decided to make that call before you could think twice.
As it rang, your nerves grew.
‘What would you say? Would he even answer? Of course he would answer. He called you. Said he missed you. But would he answ—‘
“Hello?” His voice broke through your cycle of thoughts. Unprepared, you couldn’t reply.
“Y/N, darling, are you there?”, he said with a edge of worry.
You swallowed before responding.
“Yeah, Luci. I’m here.” Your voice broke at the last word.
“Are you okay, love?” Lucifer sounded understandably even more worried now.
You sniffled and nodded. Not trusting your voice but you realized he couldn’t see you.
“Yeah. I’m- I’m fine. I just uh, got your message.”
Lucifer sighed slightly, relieved you were alright.
“Yes. My apologies if I was too forward.”
You gave a halfhearted laugh, “No, it wasn’t.”
You paused. “I- I miss you too.”
Lucifer was silent. For so long you thought the call had been disconnected.
“Luci?”
“Yes. I’m- I’m here darling. Can I... see you?”
You smiled and sniffled again. Your tears slightly turning to ones of happiness.
“Yes. Of course. I would... like that.”
“How about tonight then? I’ll close Lux and we can order that Indian food you love.”
You smiled, “You don’t have to close Lux for me, Luci.”
“I’d do anything for you, darling.”
He cleared his throat.
“Anyway, tonight? Seven?”
“Yeah. I’ll... see you then.”
“See you then, my dear.” Lucifer said quietly.
As you pulled the phone away from your ear and ended the call, you felt lighter. Lighter than you had since...
You checked the time on your phone and decided to try to focus on getting ready, rather than think more.
— — —
At 6:55, you were standing outside Lux’s front door. With a shaky breath, you stepped inside.
True to his word, Lux was empty sans Lucifer sitting at the piano, playing an unfamiliar tune slowly. Lost in the song, Lucifer didn’t notice you until you had descended the stairs and were leaning against the bar.
He closed the lid and turned on the bench to you.
“Did you like it?”
You nodded. “Yeah. It was beautiful. Though, I don’t recognize it.”
He smirked. “Well I would hope not. I wrote it myself.”
You couldn’t help but be surprised. In all the time you had known Lucifer he hadn’t written anything. Especially not a full song.
He sighed then gave you a smile that you knew was hiding his true feelings.
‘Something about that song...’
Before either of you could continue, a man entered, carrying bags labeled with your favorite Indian place. Just as Lucifer had promised.
Luci climbed the stairs to greet him and grabbed the food. Slipping an extra hundred in the man’s hand as he held the door open for him.
You smiled at Lucifer as he came back downstairs. “You always were the best tipper.”
He laughed, “What, that? An old friend told me about the importance of tipping and I guess it’s been a habit ever since.”
You looked down and smiled. You remembered that. It was one of your first dates. Like Lucifer said, he was always extra generous after that.
“Anyway!”, he said lifting up the bags, “Ready to eat?”
You nodded, almost drooling. You hadn’t been to the restaurant since last year and you knew by the smell Lucifer had gotten your favorite.
Luci set the table, and by setting the table, you meant taking the containers out of the bag and opening the packets of plastic silverware.
You looked at the food on the table then back to Lucifer as he waited for you to sit. It wasn’t right though. You scrunched your nose without realizing and Luci laughed. That hearty laugh when you did something ridiculous.
“Oh, you haven’t changed one bit, dear. Come, let’s move to the couch.”
You smiled brightly at him, thankful he could remember your quirks.
You two sat down nearby each other, with some room in between, thanks to the large Lux couches compared to the ones he had upstairs.
You filled the air with happy noises of content and talking about what antics Maze and Amenadiel had gotten up to. It was light, fun, and exactly what you needed.
Once your bellies were full, you both sighed happily.
“That was wonderful, thanks Luci. I haven’t had them since...” you trailed off.
He nodded, “Me neither.”
You looked down at your hands, feeling the shift in the mood.
“About that, darling.”, Luci said, scooting slightly towards you.
You furrowed your brow, “Do we have to?”
Lucifer smiled at your whine. “Unfortunately, I think we do.”
At your silence Lucifer cleared his throat.
“I’ll start.” He looked at you and waited until you met his eyes.
“I’m so terribly sorry for everything I said and more so for the things I didn’t.”
You nodded, biting your lip and trying to hide the tears that were soon to come.
Lucifer scooted closer to you and placed his hand on your back, hesitantly and then more firmly after you hadn’t shaken it away.
“Darling, you have to understand the whole marriage thing was so foreign to me. And the whole swearing before Dad bit just seemed ridiculous.”
At your pointed look he stopped speaking for a moment.
“What I’m trying to say is that I didn’t realize it was so important to you. And I’m sorry. I should have asked. I assure you, if I had known I would have married you the day I met you, Y/N. I knew from the moment I met you you were the one for me.”
“Are you just saying that?”, you questioned. Somewhat insecure.
“No. Of course not, darling. You know I can’t lie.”
At your small smile he continued.
“After you left, I was broken, lost. And when I realized what a mistake I had made, I wanted nothing more than to make it right.”
“So why didn’t you?”, thankfully the tears hadn’t come and your voice was stronger.
“You looked happy,” he sighed. “You seemed to be doing things you always spoke about doing. I didn’t want to ruin that. I thought you were better off.”
“I wasn’t better, Luci. I was just as broken and lost as you were. The reason I was trying new things was because I had to distract myself. It was the only way for me to keep going.”
You leant your head against his shoulder with a sigh. “I’m sorry too, Luci. I should have spoken to you about it earlier. And I shouldn’t have blown up on you like I did.”
You pulled back to look up at him.
“I’m so sorry, Luci. I’m a terrible idiot.”
He smiled down at you and caressed your cheek softly.
“I forgive you, darling.”
The sincerity in his voice broke the dam and you let out a broken sob.
He pulled you in tight and let you cry into his chest, mumbling assurances that he forgave you every time you apologized.
You don’t know when you’d stopped crying. Maybe you ran out of tears.
All you knew was that you awoke some time later. Your throat was dry, eyes puffy, and neck hurt from how you had slept. But, you also felt relaxed. Lighter from the confessions and the tears.
You frowned as you were alone. You rubbed your eyes and picked up your phone on the nearby table. Underneath it was a folded piece of paper with your name written in Lucifer’s handwriting.
You opened and read the note.
My love,
My apologies for not being by your side as you wake up and instead having to leave this. I had to go to a scene. I tried not to but the Detective guilt tripped me. Awful thing to do, really.
Anyway, I assume you’re probably sore from sleeping on this couch. I assure you I tried to get you to come to bed or even on the more comfortable couches upstairs but, well, you know how stubborn and persuasive you can be. Especially when you’re half asleep...
I know you have things to do so I won’t expect you when I return. But I do hope to see you again soon, darling.
With love,
Lucifer
P. S. Maze insisted on watching you sleep. Not me.
You looked around and found Maze behind the bar. You jumped, she was always so quiet.
“Maze?”, you asked.
She frowned at you while she pushed away from the bar but when she approached she pulled you into a tight hug.
“I’m so glad you’re back. Lucifer’s been miserable without you.”
You laughed as you pulled away, “Sorry about that. But I’m not back.”
“But I thought...?”she said with confusion on her face.
“I mean... we just hung out last night. Nothing’s official.”
“Hmmph.” She smirked. “But from what Lucifer told me, you’ll be back.”
You shook your head in happy exasperation.
“Oh Maze. I could always count on you to say the things Lucifer was always too afraid to.”
Maze smiled proudly at that,
“Like how he wanted to marry you?”
You practically choked.
“I’m sorry, what??”
She shrugged, but had her signature smirk.
“Yeah...” she said with fake nonchalance, swirling her drink.
“He had a ring for over a month. But kept backing out because he was ‘unsure you would want to marry the Devil’.”
She added with air quotes at the end.
“And even though I’m dedicated to Lucifer for the rest of eternity, I totally take your side on this one. Dumbass said he didn’t need to talk to you about marriage and already knew how you felt. Saying you didn’t like weddings or something because you were always so sour after shooting them. And I told him, well maybe you were sour because you wanted to stop working them and have your own. But you know how Lucifer is.”
She rolled her eyes and took a quick swig of her drink.
“Once he gets a self-deprecating thought in his head, he can’t get it out. Ugh, daddy issues, am I right?”
You laughed, oh how you missed Maze.
— — —
“So are we doing this?”, you whispered into his chest as he held you tight that night.
He moved his head so he could smile softly down at you.
“Yes, I do believe so.”
You smiled back at up him.
“One condition.”
At his raised eyebrow you smirked.
“You have to ask me out again. You’re not getting off so easily, Luci.”
“Getting off, you say?” With a chuckle. But then he got more serious.
“But I’m afraid I can’t do that darling. Well, rather, I don’t particularly want to.”
Your heart dropped and face fell.
“What?”
“I don’t want to ask you out again.”
“But —“
Lucifer pulled away from you and reached into the pocket inside his suit jacket.
“Darling. I don’t want to simply be boyfriend and girlfriend again. I want you...”
He dropped to his knee, maintaining eye contact with you.
“I want you to be my wife, Y/N.”
You gasped, frozen in place.
“Darling, the moment I met you was the best of my life. And I’m so sorry for not asking sooner, but please. I’m asking now. Will you marry me?”
You stared at Lucifer on his knee before you, holding up a velvet box with an otherworldly beautiful ring inside. Your vision began to blur, and you hastily wiped the tears away.
Seeing him clear before you, nervous, in love, and vulnerable, you couldn’t help but laugh. You brought your hands to his face and gave him a searing kiss that spoke volumes, full of apologies, love, and dedication.
As you pulled back, lips lingering, and pressed your forehead against his, you opened your eyes to stare into his.
“Yes”, you whispered, nodding and smiling. Starting to tear up again.
Lucifer’s face lit up with joy.
“Yes?”
“Yes!” You exclaimed, your smile matching his.
You both looked down as Lucifer took the ring from the box and slipped it on your finger.
You admired its intricacy and perfection for a moment before looking up at your now fiancé.
“I...” you began, trying to quell the tears.
“I... thank you, Luci.”
He laughed at that, unable to stop smiling.
“Darling, I’m the one who should be thanking you. You’re the light of my life.”
You smirked, unable to help yourself. “That’s rich coming from you, Morningstar.”
He closed his eyes and groaned. Trying to hide his smile.
“Back to the puns are we?”
You laughed and automatically responded, “You love me!”
You paused. Partially at the old phrase and at his serious face. Lucifer stroked your cheek.
“I do, my dear. I never stopped and never will.”

“Don’t look at me like you’re sorry. You’re not sorry.” (akisako...?)
iykyk.
When she pulls her key from the ignition he’s already opening his passenger door for her. Wordlessly she slides out of her car into his, noting dryly that he’s gotten a new ride since back then. The seats still smell of new leather, and despite the absurdity of the situation, she immediately feels herself start to relax.
Hayama Akira has parked conveniently so they can watch the brilliant molten sunset, and for a moment that’s all they do.
“Arato,” he says finally, and Hisako nods in response. He takes that as license to continue, and he asks, “You know why I called you here?”
It takes everything in Hisako’s power not to scoff. “To show off your Jaguar,” she replies laconically. But to her surprise, her voice is not sharp at all. It’s soft, softer than the sunset.
“We broke up,” Akira says, and the image of a tall, pretty girl wearing a modest cocktail dress flashes in Hisako’s mind. For some reason, she can’t seem to hate the girl, even after everything that’s happened. “I thought you should know.”
“And why should I care?” Hisako points out, but her words are laden with the burden of a different collection of phonetics. If only. “We’ve been over for a while.”
“We were over because of her.”
“That’s not my problem anymore, Hayama. You’ll go back to her the second she apologizes again. And to be frank, I’m fucking tired of waiting for you.”
Akira leans his elbows on the wheel. “So you were waiting for me?”
“Not anymore,” she replies. “Now please give me one good reason why I should be sitting in my ex boyfriend’s car at six in the evening instead of doing all the shit I need to do.”
“Because you still love me.”
Her mouth opens but she remains silent, because it’s impossible to deny. He’s hit the bull’s-eye dead on.
“That’s irrelevant,” Hisako says, and that’s also true. “I might still love you but that doesn’t mean I miss you.”
“You’re not going to give me another chance, are you?”
At this Hisako turns to meet Akira’s eyes for the first time. She stares at those intense chips of jade, ignoring the repressed optimism that’s so painfully evident in them. “Don’t look at me like you’re sorry. You’re not sorry.”
“What if I am, though?” Akira asks. “What if I called you here to apologize and ask you to give me another shot?”
Hisako shakes her head. “It’s too late for an apology.” She runs a finger over the glossy wood detailing on the glove box. Spotless, as usual. The damn perfectionist still hasn’t taken the plastic film off the handle of the gear shift.
“It is,” Akira agrees. Hisako nods but he’s not done. “Then I guess I’ll have to act, won’t I?” In one fluid motion, his hand cups the back of her head and his mouth fuses seamlessly with hers. Automatically she’s thrown back into the idyllic memories of their past, and before she can stop him—or herself—she’s kissing him back, forgetting the reason they’re here in the first place, forgetting the heartbreak, the betrayal, and every other shard of hurt that’s long since shredded her heart into ribbons. The months of tension between them ignite into a scorching passion and the kiss deepens; minutes pass and so do they—back into familiar habits, finding solace in each other across the line between lovers and whatever they were doing until now.
Then her caved resolve rights itself and she jerks away from him. “What the hell?”
He doesn’t even bother to look sorry. “You said you don’t want an apology.”
“You’re right,” she sighs. “I don’t.”
I love you, he says.
Prove it, she replies, and they both know it is over, for real this time.
