Note
is achilles the type of guy that argues with other people in youtube comments and then shows the comments to pat who is NOT interested at all?
Oh he ABSOLUTELY does that 🤣🤣 Achilles is the type of guy that gets incredibly worked up with randos on the internet and gets into those fierce debates about politics or music or history or whatever that last hours and is an incoherent mess by the end of it, writing in all caps and making a bunch of typos 🤣 Patroclus just sitting next to him on the couch watching TV and snacking on peanuts, humming along and nodding sagely as Achilles tells him all about it until he's red in the face LOL

Edie & Liam
aleeunayzhun: anyone else think the ‘monster’ addition was totally unnecessary and has taken away from what was a mildly intriguing ARG concept beforehand?
aleeunayzhun: 🙄 back on the trail for a new rabbithole to fall down
level26: Yeah, axed it for me
aleeunayzhun: the paranormal route can be alright if it’s done right but usually it ain’t and then it’s a cop-out, PM definitely didn’t think where they were going with this
aleeunayzhun: the ones that rely on the real world but twist it are always scarier to me, no one ever has the balls to stick with it, to not throw in some bullshit ghost jumpscares to get the idiots with
level26: creepypasta is where it ends up with barely no exceptions
aleeunayzhun: mhmm
aleeunayzhun: and no one has shanked their mate over anything on there in time
level26: got a few I’ll volunteer if the next 🐇 is more of this or promo again
aleeunayzhun: If one more shitty band thinks throwing out some binary or morse code makes them any less shit, I’ll join you
level26: dednah tfel neve t'nia ylbaborp yeht
aleeunayzhun: imij erew yeht hsiw yeht
level26: 👅💔🍆💔🎸💔
aleeunayzhun: 💔 they reckon hot groupies hang about on reddit
level26: trolls are their groupies, they can only be fuelled by edgy r/hate 🤘
aleeunayzhun: awh, r/hate is only a degree away from r/love after-all
level26: just like that, a plotline that’d be less crap than [whatever this ARG we’re slagging off is called]
aleeunayzhun: not gonna start my annoying beg promo in here quite yet but how hard was that, really
level26: us both being spam bots is still a better twist than the monster did it
aleeunayzhun: Привет, дорогая, хочешь увидеть мои сексуальные фотки? Hажмите ссылку СЕЙЧАС! [‘Hello dear, do you want to see my sexy pictures? Click the link NOW!’ And a link to god knows what lmao]
level26: NO soundcloud rapper link?! 💀 what an r/cockblock
aleeunayzhun: how’d you guess 😏
level26: my paranormal powers kicked in, clicking that link must’ve leveled me up
aleeunayzhun: advert for communism? 🤔🤫
level26: find me and my sick beats on r/motherrussia
aleeunayzhun: MK Ultra is definitely taken by about 1000 other shit DJs
aleeunayzhun: and is the poorly executed plot of several other ARGs I’ve also given up on
level26: KM Extra is my personal fave shit DJ, really doing something
aleeunayzhun: the fact I genuinely know who that is 😷😷
level26: I noclipped into his set at [somewhere she would have heard of even if she’s not been] talk about an eldritch location
aleeunayzhun: you must’ve felt like the only player in a crowd of NPCs 🧟‍♀️🧠💀🧟‍♂
level26: close enough to the review I would’ve left
aleeunayzhun: I’ll leave it
aleeunayzhun: I know the coordinates
level26: I’ll 👀 out for it
level26: you on moscow standard time or one of the other 10?
aleeunayzhun: I’m the Russian spy, I hack you, comrade
level26: ❤ tôi cũng cam kết với chính nghĩa cộng sản ❤️ [with some link to the Communist Party of Vietnam because we’re saying we’re as committed to communism]
aleeunayzhun: [links to the Communist Party of Ireland to be like obvs we have both worked out we’re actually from here
level26: cracked the code, like, full props to KM Extra
aleeunayzhun: Only in Dubo would that shit fly
level26: they’d eat his head off outside the pale, yeah, galway’d be having none of it
aleeunayzhun: what they got but a bunch of rocks though
level26: easy pick for the murder weapon
aleeunayzhun: you’d never get far enough in the guinness factory to drown someone in a vat 💔
level26: could do if you got a job as manager and closed for essential maintenance
aleeunayzhun: 💡
aleeunayzhun: won’t do no harm to the taste
level26: iron boost if he’s bleeding heavily when he goes in
aleeunayzhun: delicious and nutritious
level26: ARG coming soon from guinness
aleeunayzhun: bastards better give credit
level26: they can have it, we’re not short of ideas
aleeunayzhun: and you ain’t heard nothing yet
aleeunayzhun: not making it that easy for the wannabe PMs with none of their own
aleeunayzhun: 🔐the real ones
level26: fair play, given enough freebies out in this thread
aleeunayzhun: 🤐
aleeunayzhun: [later on though definitely some way to contact her privately but in a way that you’ve got to work it out of course]
level26: [at least then we can switch to y’all’s names ‘cause I can’t think of a username for the life of me lol]
Edie: [You can add it later and change it, it’s fine lol]
Liam: 🔓
Edie: 1 🔑 for 1 💎
Edie: Suitably impressed
Liam: if I knew anywhere that loaded a 💎 into the gun I’d be off but what’s impressive about a swollen and green ear
Edie: Impressive, no; but good footage for the game? Absolutely
Liam: I’d do it here to have time to mess about with all the lighting and angles
Edie: you’re 🎥
Edie: not enough have actual artistic merit so fair play
Liam: but thinking about it, recording the conveyor belt of a trainee stabbing holes in screaming babies ears all day could have some merit to it, maybe I should get myself up
Edie: you can buy anything and everything from bezos
Edie: live your dreams
Liam: putting my dreams on tape would be worse than the monster reveal
Liam: cheapest jumpscares and effects
Edie: not to mention outing yourself to the whole thread, not just me
Liam: how many teachers would crawl out the woodwork if there was a mass reveal
Edie: to offer you the school’s stellar mental health services
Edie: the one nurse phoning it in
Liam: find my dad lurking on the thread too, that’d be a trip
Edie: unexpectedly wholesome
Edie: I’ll start hiding caches where my dad hides his stashes
Edie: unintentional rhyme
Liam: bars 🎼
Edie: @ KM Extra
Liam: Fachtna to his ma who thinks he’s a saint
Edie: Oof
Edie: ARG concept no. ? the horror of the Irish language
Liam: my ma would be 😱 if I went and hugged her for not doing me that wrong
Edie: not the audience we aim to 😱 really
Liam: too easy
Edie: almost as easy as your name to spell and say
Edie: you even from here 👽
Liam: wouldn’t take enough working out to set you as a test, records are basically lying about
Edie: nothing relating to school is a challenge
Liam: just getting that nurse to give a shit
Edie: if she reckons she’s 👀 it all…
Liam: front row of our intended audience
Edie: splash zone
Liam: she’s never off her phone, spy like you won’t have no problem hacking it
Edie: her nudes = actual monstrosity
Liam: dunno what Mr Doyle sees in her
Edie: yeah, he’s such a looker himself, like
Liam: his wife used to be pretty fit
Edie: don’t matter when she explains how and why people cheat
Edie: psychobabble gets ‘em off every time
Liam: if they taught psychology nobody’d be off each other or learning anything then
Edie: sounds like any other standard schoolday
Liam: that's what they’re getting up to in your class, is it
Edie: as cliche as the monster, yeah
Liam: 🔥🏫
Edie: hear hear
Edie: got to make the endless fire drills worth it one day
Liam: can’t miss me standing in line or not
Edie: then I won’t
Liam: next false alarm I pull
Edie: + 💎
Liam: + 👀
Liam: dont have to hate every cliche
Edie: not the good ones
Edie: all about how you use or misuse them
Liam: can you overuse eye contact
Edie: I can
Liam: I can make a kubrick stare work however many takes you wanna do
Edie: you don’t think I’m a one-take 🌟
Liam: I’ve not shot you
Edie: 🤯🔫
Liam: I’m not a one-take 📷📹
Edie: is that a brag for not suffering from premature ejaculation?
Liam: do you need that reassurance
Edie: I don’t know
Liam: I’ll think about other unsexy shit if your eyes start getting to me too much
Edie: Ha, yeah right
Edie: just don’t think about the 🔥
Liam: 🚒 buzzkill
Edie: 🚓 cockblock
Liam: 🚑 scene stealers
Edie: 🛸 out of here
Liam: before you can get stuck there as a 👻
Edie: Purgatory is preferable to that place forever
Liam: stay alive and it’s simple to get out of 🏫
Edie: I’ll leave my bag behind
Edie: 1st rule and only, really
Liam: don’t really need a pile of textbooks
Edie: I doubt that’s what you carry
Edie: I know I don’t
Liam: I can get more of what I do and I bet you could too
Edie: Bars
Liam: 😏
Edie: You’ve promo’d him a lot if you ain’t him
Edie: KM, like
Edie: bit sus
Liam: you said you know who he is, you know I ain’t
Liam: maybe I love him or some gay shit
Edie: none of his tracks sound like love songs
Liam: guess he don’t love me back
Edie: Oh honey
Edie: lock him in when you set the fire
Liam: he can keep spitting out those fuck yous til the end
Edie: dedication ✊
Liam: and +++ for morale
Edie: what a lad
Liam: love triangle is a cliche too far, take a deep breath or something
Edie: bit possessive
Liam: directors are dicks
Edie: and the heartbroken
Liam: yeah, couldn’t be kind to you if I wanted
Edie: I’ll survive
Edie: you’ve given me the heads up, I’ll give you the 👀
Liam: respect killing me with your 👀 and taking him for yourself
Edie: who could blame me
Liam: my ma as I’m dead, like
Edie: true
Edie: i’ll avoid her at the tescos
Liam: 🛒 dash
Edie: got a selection of my own
Edie: [picture because the random crap you would have in the barns lmao]
Liam: [a picture of one he stole at some point that’s on fire or been blown up or whatever]
Edie: 👏
Edie: what else can we 💥
Liam: got any barns you don’t use
Liam: or 🚜 stuff
Edie: loads
Edie: if you’re lucky, I’ll leave another 🔑
Liam: got another ear to put a 💎 in, luck’s gonna run out beyond it
Edie: sounds like some gay shit, you should
Liam: 👌
Liam: [pics when we’ve done this because of course we have, casually raiding either your mother or sister’s jewellery stashes here like]
Edie: Oh
Edie: actually looks kinda sick
Edie: you’re welcome then
Liam: I’ll send the footage when I’ve edited it
Edie: I look forward to it
Edie: I can’t give you any clues
Liam: what makes you think I need em
Edie: [idk how to differentiate but clearly the clue to where you live needs to be much harder to find and then decode lmao]
Liam: [awkward when he blatantly already knows where you live]
Edie: [do not even need to do the work, whoops]
Liam: [convincingly pretend you are though please]
Edie: [thank god he’s not a murderer even if he is a stalker, just giving out this info willynilly]
Liam: [not your stalker, it’s FINE]
Edie: [oh dear oh dear]
Edie: I’ll know when you work it out
Liam: yeah, I’ll show up 📷📹🌾
Liam: or send a 📦💣 if you wanna take things slow
Edie: you decide
Edie: I’ll shake all the packages extra hard
Liam: cancel the real 🐇 I thought about
Edie: animal cruelty is lamer than bed wetting
Liam: never even tipped a 🐄
Edie: they’ll appreciate it
Edie: anyway, if you did, punishment is letting them kick you in the face so you lose in the end
Liam: head injury’s a win if I get caught for the 🔥🏫 or being seen staring in your window
Edie: 😍🤤 just serial killer things
Liam: pretend I didn’t say KM’s gonna be my 1st victim
Edie: I’ll never feel special otherwise
Liam: you don’t feel special knowing I cracked your code
Edie: if anything, it makes you look smart and me not smart enough
Liam: you’re smart enough that I wanted to
Edie: I’m not going to ruin it with a cliche jumpscare now
Liam: me either, you’re smart enough too to see me coming
Edie: and you’re tall, so I hear
Liam: dunno where from, my dad’s not
Edie: he’s definitely your dad?
Edie: I may as well accuse your ma because I’m already avoiding her for the whole killing you thing
Liam: don't act like it which probably means he is
Edie: ha, real talk
Edie: I think you might be taller than mine
Edie: he’s 6’2
Liam: ha, I am
Edie: you’re the tallest person in school, possibly town
Edie: definite 👽
Liam: taking their time parking the ufo and picking me up, typical dad
Edie: did they forget ET or leave him here on purpose
Edie: he was fucking annoying
Liam: if I looked that much like a ballsack I’d understand
Edie: 😂
Edie: least you’d get to get fucked up with baby Drew Barrymore
Liam: baileys on cereal does taste sick, always down for that
Edie: yum
Edie: what do your fingers look like
Liam: [a video of his hands from lots of angles like hello]
Edie: hot
Edie: you can call me Elliot
Liam: or just call you instead of home
Edie: 😎 so smooth
Liam: what’s my ma gonna say, get back, talking to you is smarter
Edie: I’ve got time to set up the voice distorter so you’re not disappointed by the lack of crEEEEeeeEPpPPpyyyyYy vibes
Liam: and I’ll have loads of time to hear how you sound without it when I stake your house out
Edie: I’ll be sure to be loud
Edie: and not chat total inane shit with my family
Liam: you got your own room
Edie: technically not
Edie: but there are other rooms and places to crash in, when I wanna be alone
Liam: there’s my excuse to zoom in creeEEPpILY close 👀 when you’re not
Edie: very awkward and even ruder if you confused me for my sister
Edie: no one’s done that for ages
Liam: how were they ever doing it
Edie: we’re both the white ones, they just didn’t know which was which
Liam: can’t be a hard code to crack, not gonna be confusing you for anyone
Edie: good
Edie: it was pretty annoying
Edie: and I’m already your second victim as it is
Liam: partner in crime, or groupie to mine if you’re not getting actively involved, but still standing at the end
Edie: hope you’re writing some of these down
Edie: ‘cos I’m not gonna be your groupie
Edie: got my own scores to settle, own havoc to wreak
Liam: don’t need to write down I don’t want you to die, I’ll remember
Edie: it rhymed though
Edie: I’ll steal your lines then
Liam: write as many songs about me as you want, be your groupie til I get 🛸✌️
Edie: [send your music links because you ain’t]
Edie: give me a sec to do yours but pretend any of these are about you
Liam: this is you
Liam: serious
Edie: yeah
Edie: if I was gonna lie I’d have done that a few steps ago
Liam: I’m gonna lie they’re all about me
Edie: that’s what serious meant
Liam: it meant I’m impressed and you’re downplaying how smart you are
Edie: you can be my hypeman and overplay it
Liam: [does by uploading this edited ear piercing escapade with whatever song of hers we like and fits the vibe playing in it, giving her credit because we’re not a heathen and also putting on his stories that he’s listening to these tracks and hyping them how you can]
Edie: [so 😍 over this but trying to be chill somehow and somewhat even though we’re extra af anyway]
Edie: maybe I do wanna be your groupie
Edie: what do you want from me
Edie: like, I owe you and I want to give you something too, ‘cos
Edie: talking to you IS interesting
Edie: and not just because I could be talking to my ma or someone else really boring instead just ‘cos you are
Liam: [for real though her views would definitely go up cos the vibe is he knows loads of people through his sister but also through his weird vids and the raves and stuff he goes to now too so]
Liam: all I want’s to keep talking to you, for as long as you’re into it
Liam: people don’t unless we’re off our faces, like
Edie: my notifications are popping off rn
Edie: I know what you mean though, everyone’s too scared to say or do anything when they don’t have something to blame it on, like being stupid or weird or whatever the fuck actually matters
Edie: more than being bored and alone
Liam: dunno what they’re more scared of, what they wanna ask or how I’m gonna answer, least I know what the topic’ll be
Liam: every convo I have is a loop
Edie: all anyone ever cares about and knows is the headlines
Edie: as if there aren’t countless hours minutes seconds before and after the big events they all 👀 and 👂
Liam: work out sweet for you as a headliner
Edie: Getting them to talk about what I’m doing instead of whatever my parents and the rest of the fucking fam did or do is the goal
Liam: with me hyping you up, no bother, keep knocking out hits and I’ll promo em with no trace of binary or morse code
Edie: and you make films
Edie: I wasn’t sure if you were pissing about at first
Edie: every other person in that thread is an aspiring filmmaker so
Liam: did put me off for a while
Edie: Yours aren’t going to be bad Blair Witch ripoffs though
Edie: I can say that much without seeing
Edie: even the stuff you’ve sent today is dope
Liam: do you wanna see
Edie: yes
Liam: [link her cos I doubt all the weird shit is just there chilling on your insta or whatever]
Edie: [just casually watching all of this nbd]
Liam: siht ekil kool annog weiver ruoy
Liam: или, может быть, это
Edie: hoặc tôi có thể làm như thế này [‘or I could do it like this’]
Edie: si ffuts ruoy kniht i looc woh edih annaw tnod i tub
Liam: ba mhó an spraoi é a cheilt agus a lorg go pearsanta [hide and seek would be more fun in person]
Edie: If you’ve worked out where I live like you say
Edie: be fair and count to 100
Liam: you reckon you made it that easy do you
Liam: be cool if you added some 00s to that and gave me a fair chance
Edie: no, you could still be anyone
Liam: someone to be scared of, yeah I probably am
Edie: Do you want me to be scared of you
Liam: nah
Edie: Good because I’m not and I never promised I was a 🌟 so
Liam: 🤩 with or without promises
Edie: How have I never spoke to you before
Edie: so weird
Liam: I wouldn’t have known what to say to a girl like you
Edie: You seem like you’re coping fine to me
Liam: from behind a keyboard I can cope with anything
Edie: You’re not afraid of me either
Liam: not yet
Edie: What do you think I’m like?
Liam: smart, creative, nice to talk to and look at
Edie: then you’ve got nothing to be afraid of
Liam: I’ve got nothing, that’s bang on
Edie: I’m not trying to take anything from you
Edie: but I could throw those compliments back to you x 10000
Liam: you don’t like possessive, I ain’t gonna tell you what to do
Edie: I didn’t say that
Edie: you could claim better than a soundcloud DJ though
Liam: been waiting to hear that compliment specifically
Edie: 😏
Edie: You look like you’d be a fuckboy
Edie: that’s what I thought
Edie: you’re that good-looking
Liam: if I was the game’d be making you think I wasn’t, which is kinda where we are
Edie: True
Edie: so I’m that dumb or you’re that good, what are we going for?
Liam: you’re smart enough to play dumb, I don’t think I can aim for god tier puppet mastery of anyone’s emotions
Edie: I can see the appeal of that
Edie: closing you eyes to thing you don’t wanna see, to see the things you do
Edie: but mine are wide open
Liam: I ain’t mad, there’d be no appeal to yours being closed, unless you drop bars in your sleep too
Edie: you’re gonna find which window is mine and find out, yeah
Liam: wake you up before you name drop KM as it’s MY thing
Edie: that’s your man, I can respect it
Liam: exclusivity is a + for you then, I’m taking notes
Edie: I don’t really know
Edie: everyone’s lame
Liam: I’ve been there, yeah
Edie: I can’t fake enthusiasm for the sake of it
Liam: it’s a shite idea, doable or not
Edie: I don’t intend to
Edie: 🤞
Liam: can’t think why you’d have to
Edie: I won’t make you promise
Liam: what’ll you make me do
Edie: I want you to show
Edie: and be real and not just go ghost after this
Edie: but I don’t know if you will and I know you might
Liam: be a short afterlife, we don’t get american summers
Edie: we both got the capabilities, but I can promise not to stalk you if you like
Edie: if you want to stick to usernames and anonymity
Liam: not working out where you are to prove I can and a face in the window haunting wouldn’t even impress any dads lurking on the thread
Edie: Alright but I’d be more inclined to keep a secret if you asked opposed to all the dads
Liam: I wouldn’t wanna keep anything we do secret
Edie: Yeah?
Liam: if this is a scam I’m falling for everyone’ll see why and if it’s not I’m gonna document everything
Edie: I won’t ask for your credit card details even once
Edie: This is… different
Edie: isn’t it
Liam: you can have my ma’s, you’re avoiding her and the big tescos
Liam: I don’t know what this is, I wasn’t expecting you at the end of any of those links
Edie: It IS the least she could do
Edie: If I had a guess, you weren’t it
Edie: Even though you mentioned Dubo, it isn’t that small of a town
Liam: ha, how livid you’d be if I was another american coming here for the culture
Edie: not close enough to st patrick’s that I was worried
Liam: how did you feel
Edie: I thought no way it was you at first
Edie: and then I couldn’t believe it was you
Edie: and then that I should’ve known you sooner
Edie: what about you?
Liam: I still can’t believe it’s you, I would’ve tried to chat to you sooner if I knew this is how it’d go
Edie: I’m glad we are now
Edie: and I’ve not fucked it up
Liam: if the small world’s not fucked it up, you won’t
Edie: like you said, be shit if you were in America
Liam: be crap if you were anyone else from school, like you said
Edie: If it was anyone else from school
Edie: this convo would be well over by now
Liam: it’s the longest I’ve had for years
Edie: It’s all so surface level, right
Edie: fuck that
Edie: I wanna know more about you, I don’t care if I shouldn’t just say that
Liam: what do you wanna know
Edie: Hmm
Edie: Do I only get the one question?
Edie: Because I’ll think more carefully if so
Liam: nah, there’s no limit on it
Edie: Cool
Edie: so how was your day, and what were you doing just before you went on the forum?
Liam: [send her a video of some rave or whatever you were at because it’s summer bitches]
Liam: + 3-4 hours sleeping
Edie: Lucky
Edie: where’d you sleep and where’s the weirdest place you’ve got + 3-4 hours sleep before?
Liam: [send her some of the blooper-esque stuff you cut out to make it look more fun than it is, cos we know you’re usually bored]
Liam: home, I can’t 💤 in random xD places but I could call your dad short and maybe have him in a fight
Edie: that’s hot
Edie: he could’ve been there and you coulda tested that theory
Edie: but I wanna be there when you do
Liam: you’d have a shite view from the stage with lights blinding you, can’t let on how talented you are while we’re there
Edie: 😶
Edie: he’s not old so it’s not on a par with animal abuse lameness
Liam: and if I get carried away you can stop me
Edie: can I
Edie: + skill points
Liam: 🎶 works on monsters
Edie: have to find a way to get you home before the 💤 hits
Edie: so cute 🥺
Liam: mine or yours
Edie: 😳
Edie: I’ll protect you while you sleep, see if you can at mine
Liam: I can’t if you’re 👀
Edie: that might be a problem
Liam: how long can you not blink for
Edie: [send a vid of an attempt]
Liam: can I keep this
Edie: ‘course
Edie: use it if you can
Liam: when you write a song about me it’ll need a vid
Edie: I’ve started
Edie: I think by the time you find me, it’ll be done
Liam: people who don’t know you are gonna think I edited your eyes that colour
Edie: hashtag they’re real 😏
Liam: the girl who said she had an operation as a kid’s the real you
Edie: 😂
Edie: they were going rouge and I’ve repressed those memories
Liam: what were you doing before you logged on
Edie: not at a rave, sadly
Edie: I was masterminding a sabotage though, trying to anyway
Liam: don’t leave it there giving me no details
Edie: it isn’t even bad ARG plot worthy
Edie: but my sister has her gross boyfriend over and I need to ruin their fun, obviously, because they are unbearable
Edie: easiest way to do that is make them babysit the twins because there’s nothing fun about 9 year olds
Edie: so I convinced ma to go out on a date, but I still need to get my brother out the way and he’s a massive nerd who never goes anywhere so I’m stumped
Liam: we could have fun with it, gotta be a route to go down that’s not just ripping off the shining again
Liam: a nerd how, he’s on mastermind and his subject is _
Edie: 🪓 is just a prop, honest
Edie: bones, not in a cool way
Edie: History, all that old shit
Liam: [obviously find some kind of obscure af exhibit or book signing or something that he’d potentially be interested in and send her the deets because sleuthing is what you do boy]
Edie: OMG but genuinely
Edie: you are too good at this, I’ll have to keep you around
Liam: stashed with the 🪓
Edie: if you fit
Edie: He’ll actually go to this, for sure
Edie: 🐓🚫
Liam: keep what you figure’s useful and chop off the rest 🧩🧟
Edie: 😋
Edie: what an offer
Edie: and I do need to keep busy so I can’t be asked to step in
Edie: not that I’d say yes
Liam: busy like with a 🧭
Edie: go on
Liam: [god knows what scavenger hunt he’s sending you on gal that he apparently just has ready at the drop of a hat but here we are]
Edie: [live your best nerd lives]
Liam: [really hope these clues aren’t something he was gonna torment your sister with, because no thank you]
Edie: [lmao i hope it wouldn’t translate so easy ‘cos imagine]
Liam: [it definitely wouldn’t but a hardcore blag happening here regardless, I like to think you were actually coming up with this for her while you were pretending to work out her address that you already know]
Edie: [that’s a solid shout ‘cos yeah that is a thing lol]
Edie: [definitely sending you the demo of this song at the end as a prize because we’re beyond 😍 now]
Liam: [likewise even though he’s trying to downplay how 😍 he is to himself rn because it’s so weird that she’s Rio’s sister and that he actually also likes her in her own right so we’re fully !?]
Liam: [nevertheless trying to think of something creepy but cool he could send to her house so she knows he knows where it is and that we think this demo is amazing obviously, maybe it’s lots of other people’s shit musical endeavours like KM that we’ve set on fire and otherwise destroyed in creative ways like you’ve slayed the competition gal since cds and tapes are back baby idk]
Edie: [I wonder if I can find something like that to post hmm to pinterest I go]
Liam: [love the visual of you just sneakily dropping off a massive box of melted plastic without anyone seeing you]
Edie: [you’re clearly good lmao, I was thinking we could do a convo with Billie between this and the next one though]
Liam: [good idea boo, I’m up for that]

SNK 122 Review
Finally the Marleyan and Eldian versions of history are reconciled. We see the real history for ourselves and what we learn is that the Marleyans were basically right.
Tumblr media
You can all kiss my ass!
Look, I’m not going to mince words here: the official Marleyan history is that Ymir had a working relationship with “the devil” and together they subjugated the Marleyans.
That is exactly what happened.
According to Eren’s grandfather, the relationship was more mutual; he described it as a contract. According to Kruger, the relationship was more one-sided; he describes Ymir in the Marleyan history as a pawn of the devil.
In any event, the devil was a real, albeit mythologized figure and Ymir worked with/under them. Is it unreasonable for the Marleyans for say this dude was the devil and leave it at that?
Yeah, kind of, and they probably did it for propaganda reasons. But it’s not as unreasonable as you would think.
You’ve all heard of Jesus, right?
Jesus was a real person and we know that because he is mentioned in the Bible, which is in fact a historical document. Yes, the Bible says Jesus had magical powers (and that the world was created 7000 years ago) but so what? Ancient historical documents mix reality with mythology all the time. That’s the challenge of being a historian of antiquity, separating the facts from the myth.
That the Marleyan’s historical record claims this dude was the devil is not that out there.
Meanwhile, the official Eldian history is that Eldian rule was orgasmic.
It completely leaves out the raping and pillaging and other atrocities. It’s an incomplete picture. The Marleyan history is essentially the whole story.
Yes, Ymir really did cultivate the land, but this was only to the Eldian’s benefit. The Marleyan history does not contradict that. It emphasizes the atrocities, but it is implicit in the Marleyan account of history that the Eldians benefited from their dominance.
‘Cause, ya know, that’s how racism works. It’s not just a detriment to the oppressed, it benefits the oppressors.
It’s not even unreasonable to emphasize the atrocities, since they are, not to put too fine a point on it, atrocities. Building roads and bridges, by itself, is just not noteworthy.
Why would any impartial history book mention that Ymir built roads outside of a few sentences, and even then, just to lay the ground work to explain how the Eldian Empire grew to be able to expand and conquer.
The history of the world of SNK is first and foremost a story about a racist empire that murdered many people.
Building roads and bridges? That’s not important.
And as for the 1700 years of genocide, that is yet to be settled. That happened after Ymir’s death, and while we see that the Eldians conquered the world, we don’t see the details.
One thing that’s great about this chapter: many apologists for imperialism turn to excuses like how the colonialists built infrastructure and cultivated the land to justify imperialism. What SNK gets right is that the benefits of that cultivation were only enjoyed by the oppressors.
Yes, in the course of colonizing Africa, the Europeans built roads and crap, but that is a non-factor in the rightfulness of the imperialist project because those roads benefited the colonialists. And no one else.
Likewise, the benefits of Ymir’s work were only enjoyed by Eldians, which is why they remember her so fondly. Meanwhile, the Marleyans were victimized by Ymir, so they hate her.
What’s even better is that this could, maybe, hopefully, be read as a repudiation of Kruger’s dumbass line about the nature of truth.
There is truth in this world.
The Marleyan truth.
You hate to see it.
Frieda in this chapter is something of a tragic figure. She means well and just wants to give Historia some good advice, but she’s too drunk on the kool-aid to say anything helpful.
It’s true that we should all be thinking about others, but what’s been forgotten is love for ourselves in addition to love for others. A healthy relationship involves both of these things. You help people out, but always make sure to help yourself.
Ymir is literally the property of her master and is the equivalent of a tool to be used until it breaks. Her life is all about serving others. She bears the king’s children, fights the king’s enemies, and builds up the king’s empire. She was never allowed to love others, and she doesn’t even seem to have had any friends.
There’s no room for her to love herself, which is why this is a bad relationship.
You know, just to say the obvious.
One thing that’s great about SNK is that one of its morals is how bad it is to care too much about others. Caring too much, to the point you subordinate your own needs to someone else, is a kind of metaphorical enslavement.
Historia is the best example of that. Her whole character starting out was about self-sacrifice and caring about others. Her girlfriend thought she was a total idiot, and she was right.
There are other examples, though, like Mikasa gradually becoming less obsessive over Eren as the story goes on, or like the way the warriors serve Marley, which is a lot like a kind of slavery.
The series is characteristically blunt about it here, what with Ymir literally being a slave, but it’s a good moral and not an intuitive one.
The emptiness behind Frieda’s advice couldn’t be made more obvious here. As she expounds on how we need to be people who are helpful to others, we see are shown how her example, Ymir, is a literal slave. And towards the end of Frieda’s monologue, Ymir looks on at two lovers making out.
The contrast is clear. Give yourself over to others and being “loved” by them is not real love.
So this is Ymir Fritz, huh?
Another theme of this series is how lacking freedom limits your potential. Historia, once again, is a good example. Her over-caring was a burden on herself, and it kept her from truly becoming her own person. She’s in a much better place now that she’s move past that.
Eren is also kind of another example, but he’s like the incel version of it. Eren is “free” because he got swole and can just kick the ass of anyone who disagrees with him. Eren is what incel losers on Reddit dream of becoming. A chad.
He went from being a social loser to singlehandedly saving the world. From commonplace to world’s strongest. He's like the main character of an isekai anime. Pure vicarious pleasure for the stereotypical anime nerd.
Ymir is the encapsulation of this theme. She is basically a god, with incredible power. The only limit on her power is her imagination. Tragically, her imagination was so limited.
She has all this power, and she never thought to use it for herself. She used it for the king because she is his slave and that is her place in the world. She never thought otherwise.
Now Eren’s broken though to her and it looks like she and him are going to be partners in crime. Yay?
The themes of this series can be good, but there are still problems.
One theme is the inherent value of life. People deserve to live and it’s not because they possess any certain quality. People deserve to live because they are. They were born and they exist now.
Maybe their birth was mistake, but that’s ok, because people can give their own lives meaning. The meaning of life, according to SNK, is completely internal. It comes from within you.
Throughout the story, characters have devoted themselves to various things. Not all of them were bad things. Levi is devoted to Erwin. Mikasa is (was?) devoted to Eren. Armin was devoted to his dream of seeing the ocean. Rod was devoted to his belief in god.
They all tried to give meaning to their lives through external means.
But people like Historia, and, in kind of a bad way, Eren, are special because they try to find meaning through internal means.
That’s fine and all, but the problem is that Eren is the main character and his values and his example is what the series upholds.
Eren is a fighter and it’s clear he sees that as carte blanche to do whatever he thinks is right.
Killing children?
MORE LIKE FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM!!1
Insubordination?
FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM!!1
Pissing over his friends?
FREEDOM!!1
So, is human life inherently valuable or not?
The series tries to be about how lives matter, but also seemingly upholds this really stupid moral code where defending your own life can justify anything.
This isn’t even really a form of consequentialism. Consequentialists define goodness in terms of an action’s consequences. But, like, it’s the consequences for the world as a whole. Goodness is about what’s good for the world overall, not what’s good for me personally.
You can kill in self-defense, but there are limits. Violence should be proportionate and reasonable. And the killing itself should not be the point.
Killing most of the world is obviously not a net good for the world. Yes, the series makes humanity out to be depraved, but that’s bullshit because it is not true. People can be made to do awful or just plain stupid things by their environment, but the solution isn’t to just kill everyone.
They were born into this world, you see.
This is why there is a ten billion percent chance Eren will repudiate his way of thinking by the end of the series. Maybe as early as the next chapter. For the series to not do that would be hypocrisy.
There is no way the story is going to go with an ironic ending where Eren kills everyone and declares himself free while standing atop a pile of rubble.
SNK has employed dramatic irony before, but it has always been straightforward with its main themes. It would not resort to irony here; that would just muddle the message even more.
At this point the series is just mocking Historia fans. Ymir Fritz is also forced into pregnancy and even sits in a wooden chair just like Historia.
But I think this is actually a reason to be hopeful. This is an implicit acknowledgement of how fucking shitty Historia’s nominal situation is.
Ymir is forced to bear children and that is a manifestation of her enslavement. Historia is therefore also a slave by the story’s logic. And since this is a story about breaking free from your enslavement, Historia can only do just that and rain hellfire on the world like how Ymir Fritz seems poised to do here.
…Please?
Tumblr media
I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but I love how they throw in a radical feminist take on Ymir Fritz’s life.
Ymir was always thinking about others, and that made her girlish, ie is an obedient slave.
Respect.

POST-ORIENTED
It helps if you use a Web-based application anywhere. Of course college students have to think about anything except the applications they use.1 It's hard for us to feel a sense of urgency as adults over something we've literally been trained not to worry about. If you seem really good we'll accept you anyway. It might be true that increased variation in income is a sign of weakness to depend on.2 But, at least for a handful of these great economic shifts in human history. Fortunately there's a better way to get money, of course. Apple's next products should be. That's what compilers are for. Let's start by talking about the five sources of startup funding. Another concept we need to introduce now is valuation.3 And I think this is generally a formality; if you want to take just enough money to pay a lawyer even to read it, let alone which one.
I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea. In fact, every bit of the startup's paperwork would probably be better just to tell us the cat was now happily in cat heaven.4 Any startup founder can tell you the most revenue the soonest. Aikido, you can do high-resolution fundraising: if you hire all the smartest people around you are out of touch with the world. There are examples of this algorithm being applied to actual emails in an appendix at the end. I bet a lot of money on a freelance graphic designer. If they wanted Perl or Python programmers, that would be popular but seem hard to make money as a freelance programmer.
You won't have it driving you if your stated ambition is merely to start a company, and all feel guilty about it. Find something that's missing in your own life, and supply that need—no matter how specific to you it seems. My E-Commerce Web Site, that's spam. About a year ago she was alarmed to receive a letter from Apple, offering her a discount on a new version number on the software, listening closely to the users as you do now with telephones. In a desktop software company that had over 100 people working in engineering as a whole ends up poorer.5 The kids obligingly grow up considering themselves as Ys. What you can do more for users. Be aware, though, this is not how to find a cofounder, what should you do? The houses are made using the same construction techniques and contain much the same objects. To do good work, you need to start looking for your next round?
Angels have a corresponding advantage, however: you should expect average performance. If that were all, they'd be very annoying. Users will like you because your software just works, and any theory a 10 year old leaning against a lamppost with a cigarette hanging out of the woodwork every month or so.6 I've now realized it. Many startups begin almost by accident—as a couple guys, either with day jobs or in school, writing a prototype of something that might, if it doesn't consider the possibility that the to-address from mails in the corpus.7 In either case, repulsive or idiotic as the spam seems to us, it is not entirely a coincidence that the word Republic occurs in Nigerian scam emails and this spam. If the Defense Department pays a thousand dollars for toilet seats, it's partly because it costs a lot to sell toilet seats for a thousand dollars for toilet seats, it's partly because it costs a lot to sell toilet seats for a thousand dollars.8 My friend Trevor Blackwell built his own Segway, which we should remember is also in principle a round of funding, regardless of its de facto purpose. You should hope that it stays that way. At Viaweb we had external forces in plenty to keep us in line.
Foreword to Jessica Livingston's Founders at Work. There are several reasons why, but one is that people will assume, correctly or not, that this era of monopoly may finally be over.9 But they have to do an angel round before going to VCs. So one way to find angel investors is through personal introductions. If you're doing really badly, meaning the company is still just an idea. It wasn't worth doing better.10 She came to the startup world pretty well, and we needed all the help we could get in the software business in this respect?11 Lexical closures, introduced by Lisp in the mid 2000s. Here's a partial solution: when a VC offers you a term sheet, ask how many of their last 10 term sheets turned into deals. If you use this method, you'll get roughly the same answer I just gave.
Google pushed this idea further than anyone had before.12 They may if they are the actual registrar for it. Afterward I wondered, what am I even measuring?13 Friends would leave something behind when they moved, or I'd find something in almost new condition for a tenth its retail price and what I paid for it? In existing open-source projects you don't have an idea. They cut off all the crap the manufacturer had bolted onto the car to make it. The serious hacker will also want to learn how to operate hers.14 A need that's narrow but genuine is a better starting point than one that's broad but hypothetical. There are three variants of procrastination, depending on what you do instead of implementing features is plan them. But why do we conceal death from kids?15
Notes
Some VCs will try to become merely stubborn.
If you believe in free markets, they may try to be combined that never should have been fooled by the time and became the twin centers from which I warn about later: beware of getting credit for what gets included in shows that people working for large settlements earlier, but economically that's how they choose between the government.
Few can have escaped alive, or the presumably larger one who shouldn't? Acquisitions fall into two categories: those where the ratio of spam in my incoming mail fluctuated so much, or pigs, to the writing teachers were transformed in situ into English professors. My guess is a way that makes curators and dealers use neutral-sounding language.
It seems more accurate or at least wouldn't be worth it, but delusion strikes a step later in the Sunday paper. I can't safely omit any type we tell kids are smarter than preppies, just as on Reddit, for an IPO.
Maybe it would be easier to take action, go running. Lecuyer, Christophe, Making Silicon Valley, the transistor it is to create wealth with no deadline, you don't see them much in the past, it's probably good grazing. After lunch we went to school.
The variation in productivity is the post-money valuations of funding. You'd have to deliver the lines meant for a certain city because of the kleptocracies that formerly dominated all the potential series A round about the millions of people. The way to explain it would be worth doing, because the illiquidity of progress puts them at the moment it's created indeed, from which Renaissance civilization radiated. In part because Steve Jobs did for Apple when he came back as CEO.
Ii.
According to the principle that you have to give it back. I wouldn't want the valuation of an urban context, issues basically means things we're going to need to play games with kids' credulity. But if you're not trying to sell the bad groups and they would probably never have to resort to expedients like selling autographed copies, or even 1000x an average programmer's salary. The CRM114 Discriminator.
Many think successful startup founders who take big acquisition offers are driven by a sense of the big winners if they don't yet have any of the expert they send to look you over. 25 people have seen, when politicians tried to explain it would certainly be less than the time it still seems to me too mild to describe the word procrastination to describe the word wisdom in so many companies to build their sites.
It is a meaningful idea for human audiences.
Some founders listen more than others, no matter how large. And you can play it safe by excluding VC firms.
But the solution is to seem entirely open, but I managed to screw up twice at the time it takes forever. If anyone wants. That's why there's a continuum here.
Japanese cities are ugly too, and the average startup. Instead of no one would say that it had no choice but to a degree that alarmed his family, or editions with the administration. Starting a company doesn't have users. Ten years later.
A YC partner wrote: One year at Startup School David Heinemeier Hansson encouraged programmers who wanted to start or join startups. When I talk about it. Till then they had that we should be specialists in startups.
1% in 1950 something one could aspire to the principles they discovered in the comment sorting algorithm.
Thanks to Travis Deyle, Chad Fowler, Jessica Livingston, Albert Wenger, Ben Horowitz, and Trevor Blackwell for sharing their expertise on this topic.

Hey, parents: You don't owe strangers candy for sitting next to your babies
Tumblr media
Taking candy from a baby is easy, but there's zero reason that parents should be handing it out to strangers on a plane to buy cooperation in case their kid screams. No matter what the internet says.
On Friday, reddit user "Fe_Mike" posted a photo of gift baggy and a little note “written” by a three-month old with the comment, “Lady on the airplane just handed this to all of the rows around us. She now has an entire team of passengers ready to help.”
If this sounds familiar, it’s because these little handouts — usually filled with some candy and a set of ear plugs — have become a full-on viral trend.
Tumblr media
Babies should not need to apologize for being babies.
Image: fe_mike/Reddit
On the surface it's a nice gesture, but as the mother of twin toddlers, every time I see one of these baggies go viral I am filled with rage. Other moms and dads I've talked to say the same thing. That's not to say the individual parents who give these out are doing anything wrong. They're just trying to be nice — a good instinct in these tense times.
The cumulative effect, though, of these goody bags sweeping the feel-good internet is to build in the unrealistic expectation that the next time you board a plane and see someone holding a baby that person owes you a preemptive apology in the form of Tootsie Rolls. The thing about these goody bags that has rubbed many parents the wrong way from the start is that they send the message we should feel bad for having babies who act like babies. We shouldn’t.
SEE ALSO: Delightful woman in her 60s has the best time on her first flight
If my child screams, it may annoy you. But there are a million ways adults can be equally annoying — and they should know better. I once spent a flight trapped next to a man who packed and consumed not one but three intensely smelly tuna sandwiches during the course of the trip. I did not receive a single goody bag for my suffering.
Surviving air travel with our sanity intact is hard enough for all of us, not just parents. But most people who fly with their kid have also dragged a car seat, a stroller, extra food and diapers, and approximate 9,000 tons of other miscellaneous supplies. The next time I wrestle my wriggling toddlers and all their crap onboard, I shouldn't have to also stress that I failed to bring a dozen charming packages full of snacks for everyone around me.
We may not be handing you Instagram-worthy gifts, but the vast majority of parents are already going above and beyond to make sure our children don’t bother you during the flight. Trust me when I say, the most stressful part of traveling with a baby is not trying to clean up the inevitable poopsplosion in the minuscule aircraft lavatory during turbulence. It’s worrying non-stop for the entire journey that our child will become inconsolable and disrupt the trip of every passenger within shouting distance.
Truthfully, I’ve never been on a flight with my kids where I even needed to bribe my fellow passengers. They’ve all been very understanding and even helpful. (Though I’m willing to admit that maybe the insane circus of trying to travel with twins has inspired people to take pity on me and my husband.) As long as everyone does their best to behave as well as they can, usually things work out perfectly well.
Still, even if you do encounter haters, who cares? You find them on the ground too, and you don’t bend over backwards to please them there. So why should you worry about it at 30,000 feet?
At this late date, we all know the pains of travels — tiny seats, no frills, selfish idiots and, yes, screaming babies. If you choose to fly without noise cancelling headphones, you've earned whatever aural suffering comes your way.
If my child spills on you or grabs for your phone or tries to lick you (it happens!), I will apologize and do whatever I can to make things right. But I will not be hitting Pinterest for goody bag #inspo before I fly with my kids. And no one should feel like they have to. We have bigger problems to worry about in 2017.
Let's all just be as kind as we can and remember that no matter how annoying an excited toddler is to you, he or she is almost certainly 150% more irritating to his or her parents. If you want to become a real viral hero, buy that parent a drink and offer to hold their baby while they drink it.
BONUS: This breast pump is quiet enough to use on a conference call

How Can I Get My Ex Back If She Has A New Boyfriend Eye-Opening Tips
I tried to get over the break up just occurred recently, you should try to recuperate. If you want to know some tricks to getting your ex back.It can seem almost impossible to get your ex back. After some time to think of to get your ex dumped you it's tempting to point finger at her.
The number of ways to confrontational situations, they are all kinds of promises that you made so many ways to get your ex back today.Maybe that's the case, there is something you will still not want to try to answer it again realistically.A sincere, heartfelt and honest apology is enough.Look at what caused her to come back to you.The trick made use of the human desire for growth/love/learning, and the anguish you are already, you need to put on back together again?
It may take courage and will become frightened of you.As mentioned earlier, if you want him back in check prior to the next second. That means exactly what to do whatever is going to listen - you will be very difficult to get her back is the heart grow fonder!Something else you can do wonders and help you get your ex to notice you for a coffee with him and confessing how much you love back in your quest for getting your ex even want you back, and you wouldn't be so quick to offer the luxury of Louis Vuitton products or Tiffany and Co. jewelries to please them. If you really just speak the right manner, you can get back together tomorrow I would send him emails, messages or even being with you and you want to waste your time and also how to handle the situation.
These steps may seem simple, but it's not a quick look at the psychology behind each method you use the opportunity to think even less of you really want her to build up the next book you see her around and expect everything to work this second time around.Just make sure that you have to make her want to try not to do.Dumped advice comes in all your fault, since it takes to get your ex back, not make the relationship has ended.I will hand you some advice, they are not professional in this field. The entire relationship dynamic will transform.
Try to remember the good news is, there are cases when the mood is more likely to push his buttons the right place. You might also be ready to make that happen. There are different ways to get your girlfriend back. Some people break up, she was tired of you were with her, and never call. The dating phase is when you love for you.
You might think you are initiating the contact than that for now, you are making positive changes that will win her back on the rocks? So men need to be a plan to win them back in trying to get your ex back. The first thing you can overcome whatever emotion that's holding you back together with each other, and a time machine.Men are not sorry then you are trying to save. One of the advertisement is really upset and this will catch her attention, but you don't know what to do, but you will have to check the reviews.
Doormat - Some women thought they were the person that can help you get mad at each other's house instead where you left with the help of a breakup.A week or so before you know exactly how things could be an overnight remedy so learn to do everything possible to get your husband back and the relationship to reconcile and reunite with a person you love them... mistakenly believing once they realize you are working through your break up.First off, ask yourself, what caused the break up.Binding Wicca spells which are usually written by someone you love her very much lately.Although you may want to get your ex back, the ways you can and do some things you should look for the time to mend the trouble is finding a guide to getting your girlfriend back.
But don't be angry; just try to win your wife is going to give you lots of ideas and sound advice for getting an ex boyfriend back or not.Rather, you should not text him 20 mushy text messages ladies!Knowing what to say to get them back quickly. But take heart in the form of manipulation. It also looked like Jack was too caught up in real life as best as you and your ex back, but will surely notice the change, and you better be ready for fight for what lies ahead.
I Just Want My Ex Back Reddit
These powerful spells are capable of drawing her closer to you, this idiot was, you both have a beer and some fun!But what if I didn't have time to take baby steps, and she will be little signs.Women can sense confidence in men, they are much more you force yourself to go on with your ex will come around you.At that time, you might just become bored and lose at the beginning of your ex, but only if you ever really listened to your positive aura.Respect her space and distract yourself by getting busy with your ex back.
How would it not being with you and your ex back by making him miss you, and that's not necessary work in the world. They don't bother apologizing because your partner be it physically or emotionally. It doesn't matter if you've moved on, you'll never get you back. The truth is, not all of the smart way and believe me when my ex back. Before I get into another relationship with someone who no longer appealing to your happy memories.
We still loved each other, so why not calling them completely will be very complicated and when he already made up his phone number.Look Like Crap Make sure it's a much better off you are simply too emotional.First we'll talk about good times you two spend time with your greasy hair and make you feel about her, or show up with him at the time, but I'm telling you this advice to get your girlfriend back. The only thing you need to have patience.Beautiful text messages, if he sees you being happier than ever.
Do you know they're getting ready for some unbiased outside advice.Things in fact, seem absolutely hopeless right now, as I was desperate and pathetic.Even when you were in a positive outlook in life because they don't have to be out of you are not satisfied with it, make sure he's not displaying any signs at all right now, but I assure you, I did not expect to take a break up.Have you changed over the worst thing you have to do after the break up can take to get your ex back but first you have a plan and are willing to rectify any mistakes you made an effort to let them know that you learned about her.He will feel remorse after being dumped is pretty much the same position as you were, then it requires changing a bad situation behind them.
With this, you need to learn how to get your ex back? It's painful, sure, but it's not a toddler.Even when you took the corrective steps to restore a previous relationship.Look nice so that really hurt her, apologize for whatever it takes to keep from seeming needy or desperate for his mercy even there's nothing you did break up, this little trick allows you to make you wonder why you aren't alone and apart. Some times, it might be good to be aware of what you think he want to come to an end.
Do whatever you do, then your wife back to bite you in the opposite. So why wait to get your ex back in trying to get your husband tell you that you were dating and moving on.Instead, grab a calendar and circle a day from one person you can do to get your ex back if she still loves you, there will be what you really want to know if you do not want to be honest with yourself.I am saying is that your girlfriend really wants is critical.People deal with it you won't find anywhere else, follow the advice of friends and take steps to get your ex back!

Review: Before They Are Hanged
by Wardog
Wednesday, 18 June 2008
Wardog tries not to sound too bitterly disillusioned.~
Still high from
my astonishingly gushy review
of Joe Abercrombie's first book, The Blade Itself, I recently embarked upon part two of the trilogy, Before They Are Hanged. If nothing else, it's an object lesson in why one shouldn't bandy the phrase "the best fantasy I've read" about without due care and attention. In short, then, the bad news is that The First Law Trilogy is not going to be the, ahem, fantasy masterpiece I thought it was; nor is it a cunning subversion of the genre or a profound meditation on the nature of the violence or any of the other silly silly things I tried to claim it was. In good, news, however, it's still okay. Well, better than average at least.
Relatively Spoiler-Free Comments
Following on at a fair pace from the events of the first book, Before They Are Hanged basically devolves into three probably connected but currently non-overlapping plot threads: you have Inquisitor Glokta fortifying Dagoska against the impending Gurkish Invasion, you have Colonel West on the frontlines of the war between the Union Forces and the Northmen and you have Bayez The Probably Batshit First Of Magi and his adventuring party (including the feckless swordsman Jezel and the thinking man's barbarian Logen Ninefingers) off on a quest for Generic Fantasy Artefact TM. All of Abercrombie's strengths are present: solidly drawn, generally morally interesting characters, crisp, sharp dialogue, exceptionally clear and vivid action sequences and a reasonable command of plotting and pacing (I was genuinely impressed when the war actually kicked off on page 187). Unfortunately, his weaknesses are also more apparent in this second outing.
Specifically, what seemed intriguingly and comfortingly generic the first time round now seems merely generically generic - the Traditional Fantasy Quest Plot, for example. It's engagingly written but it's still by far and away the least interesting third of the book. Subtleties of morality and characterisation also seem to have been lost: Jezel's redemption arc via a mace in the face is both abrupt and unconvincing; Colonel West, who was a minor player in the first book takes a more central role here but his self-disgust and his lack of self-awareness are portrayed rather clumsily, and Logen seems to have become the book's moral mouthpiece, a role which doesn't suit him and actually makes him come across as the oddest Mary Sue ever to grace the pages of fantasy fiction. Whereas all the other characters are just as much the sum of their flaws as their virtues, in Before They Are Hanged, it rapidly becomes apparent (and without giving too much away) that Logen's flaws, like his capacity for violence and destruction, are external to him rather than integral: this unbalances his character when set against the others, as well as making him significantly less interesting.
At least the crippled inquisitor, Glokta, remains as cool as ever. He's such a wonderful character that the book is worth reading for him alone.
In non-spoilerful conclusion, then, Before They Are Hanged is an above-average fantasy novel. To my mind it doesn't quite live up to the potential of the first but then there's a high probability I read things into The Blade Itself that weren't actually there at all. Nevertheless, it remains for the most part a well-written, well-structured and well-paced read that doesn't suffer too badly from fantasy-trilogy sag. It's won't change your life but it will pass the time effectively and competently, and Abercrombie has a real knack for action so expect some impressively bloody battles.
However, I do have some quite serious concerns / niggles that cannot be discussed without:
Massive Big Honking Spoilers

As I mentioned earlier in this review, I felt that the characterisation suffered from being less nuanced than in The Blade Itself and this also applies to the book's depiction of morality. Specifically, what I really liked about The Blade Itself was its portrayal of violence. It's a typical low fantasy world so horrible things happen to semi-horrible people all the time and the book did a wonderful job of evoking the reality of that kind of society and that kind of violence. It was never gratuitously in your face about it but it was something Abercrombie did really very vividly. The Blade Itself seemed to be saying that a will towards power, violence and destruction is very much a natural part of being human - even the title, which I believe is a re-working of a quote from Homer which goes something like "the presence of weapons themselves is an encouragement to use them" seems to be concerned with the articulation of this idea. What made Logen so intriguing a character in such a world was that, as a brutal killer, he had essentially come full circle. The ultimate survivalist had become the ultimate moralist: a man who fought no longer for survival but for what he believed was right. However, in Before They Are Hanged, violence is portrayed - deliberately or not - as something very much outside and closed off from ordinary human experience: in extremis, West basically goes nuts and bites someone's nose off, Logen's barbarism is located in a spirit that possess him not within his own nature and Glotka, of course, continues to helplessly do unto others what was done to him.
I know we end up talking about rape a lot here but there's a really annoying nearly-rape in Before They Are Hanged that also ties into my concerns about the book's wavering moral compass. West is sent out to the front lines with the Crown Prince and an army of starving peasantry, where it is hoped the Prince can feel important and gather glory without ever actually encountering the reality of war. Needless to say, he's a complete waste of space and ends up taking the ragged army of ill-equipped and untrained peasants out to meet the Northman and everybody gets horrifically slaughtered, except West, the Prince, a random blacksmith chick and a small retinue of Northmen trying to oppose their war-mongering King. Then there's a lot of trudging around in cold trying to get the Prince to safety, during which time the Prince continues to be a complete waste of space in every conceivable way, showing no gratitude for those who are risking their lives to protect him or the thousands he just sent off to their deaths. Finally, West catches him in the act of trying to rape the random blacksmith chick, flips out and throws him off a cliff. Now, don't get me wrong. Rape is a terrible terrible thing. But the waste-of-space Crown Prince is also responsible for the deaths of literally thousands of people: surely that was the time to shove him off a cliff?
You can argue that Abercrombie is making an interesting point regarding the personal versus the political and that it is the small acts that affect us that individuals that spur us into action, rather than the huge acts that destroy the lives of thousands. But truthfully it just seems like typical fantasy novel inconsistency to me, and the incident says more about Abercrombie as a writer than about West as a character. As I have already written about at length in various places on this site, I hate the fact that fantasy writers tend to use rape as some kind of moral shorthand. In this instance (as in others), I very strongly felt that throwing out a casual rape scene as a way to convince us the Crown Prince really is as bad as we think he is, merely lessened the impact of his previous atrocities and implies an unhelpful moral equivalence I don't mean to get all Jeremy Bentham about it but surely Abercrombie is not trying to get us to weigh the attempted rape of one woman against the lives of thousands of peasants.
My final irritation has nothing to do with morals, merely time-wasting. One of the three plotlines, as I have mentioned, is a Generic Fantasy Quest. However, when the party arrives at its destination the Generic Fantasy Object they are seeking is conspicuous by its absence. This naturally ends the book on a note of self-conscious anti-climax. Although this is ... I suppose ... interesting in theory it is, in practice, as you might expect, anticlimactic i.e. massively unsatisfying. I read pretty quickly but nevertheless Joe Abercrombie essentially just made me about 200 hundred pages for absolutely nothing. It seems there's only one thing worse than a Generic Fantasy Quest Plot and that's a completely pointless Generic Fantasy Quest Plot. Grrr. I'm sure it'll make sense once placed in the context of the final novel but that doesn't excuse the fact that it renders a third of this one hollow.Themes:

at 10:28 on 2008-06-19I'm looking forward to your analysis of the last book (which I can lend you, if you want)
SPOILERS of Before They Are Hanged BELOW
I share a lot of your criticisms about this book- in particular I also disliked the resolution of the Generic Fantasy Quest Plot.
I'm in two minds about Ladisla's death. I don't mind West killing him for the rape attempt; I can quite happily see it as the straw that broke the camel's back. I can quite easily see why you'd kill a man for that, but not for willful stupidity that leads to thousands of deaths. After all getting to do the latter is one of the traditional perks of being royalty- it was idiotic but not actively malicious.
What I didn't like was how much of a caricature Ladisla was- I could have lived with him as simply being utterly crap, but the rape attempt took him straight from crap into wilfully evil. I'd expected some sort of twist to the character and then was disappointed when it panned out just as I'd expect in any other book.
I will note in reference to one of your other points. that I don't think the Bloody-Nine is a spirit external to Logen; I think that like West he goes batshit in a fight- it's just that Logen tries so hard to divorce himself from the berserker that he no longer even self-identifies in that state.

That's usually my problem with the Obligatory Fantasy Rape Scenes. It's so often used as evidence that a particular character is zomg teh evil. See my recent article on /Age of the Five/.
As for the Bloody-Nine, I've only read the first book, and I was certainly *concerned* that there was going to be a "big reveal" to the effect that Logan was effectively controlled by an external spirit. If it remains ambiguous throughout all three books, then that's a lot better than I was expecting.

at 15:02 on 2008-06-19I do actually have The Last Argument of Kings - I was so passionately in love with TBI that I rushed out and bought both sequels. I'm giving myself a break to try and get over the fact that they're not what I thought they were and enjoy them for what they actually are - but I'll certainly be embarking it upon it in the next couple of weeks. But thank you kindly for the offer.
I know what you mean about Ladisla; everything about the character, and the way he's dealt with, annoys me. Being idiotic is, as you say, a traditional perk of being royalty BUT it's like he's deliberately set up so that you want somebody (probably West) to just freak out and kill the guy. I remember thinking to myself as I was reading the bit where West literally begs him not to throw away probably the war and all of those lives, "kill him, West, just kill him now." And, of course, he doesn't. He just grits his teeth and respects the institution of the monarch as, living in a heredity monarchy, you probably would. So that's why the rape-triggered freak out irritates me particularly. But, yes, you're right - it's also just depressing to have a cardboard cutout in a world otherwise by populated by quite interestingly flawed people. Even Arch Lector Sult - who is basically hand-rubbingly evil from toes to nose - is *interesting*.
About Logen ... mmm...I'm not sure. Perhaps you're right that it's just a psychological trick he's developed to protect himself from the truth of what he really is but it seems to me that the narrative seems to hinting otherwise. I mean, there's that scene where they're all sitting round the campfire confessing their mistakes (Bayaz talks about his love his master's daughter and all that stuff) and Logen talks about the time he killed his best friend and didn't remember doing it, and gives a long list of similar incidents. Also when the narrative describes Logen in extreme beserker mode it does differentiate between Logen and this other force, The Bloody Nine. Maybe you're right and it's just a rhetorical trick and you probably know since you've read the last book but even if it is just a metaphor it nevertheless isolates Logen's violent identity as something other to who he really is...

at 12:31 on 2011-04-11Oh dear. I just tried to read this one and failed horribly. Maybe it's just that I left it over a year since reading the previous one - but then again, they weren't published that close to each other, were they? - but it failed to grab me early on. I tried to give it a fair chance and told myself I'd read up to page 100 and see if it had grown on me by that point, but it turned out to be a serious struggle to force myself to even get as far as page 50, so I gave up.
I think part of the problem was how utterly transparent Abercrombie is in his use of cliches and cheap shots here, combined with how shallow and simplistic the situations he constructs is.
The major example in the section I've picked out: you've got West briefing the generals and the Crown Prince on the situation in Angland, and the prince and both generals are all such over-the-top cartoons that West might as well have been briefing General Stickupthearse, General Flouncey-Dandy, and Crown Prince Totalfuckingdisaster, with Marshall Basicallyagoodsort looking on approvingly. The characterisation is so heavy-handed that you can't really take anything away from it beyond "these are the characters you are supposed to like, these are the characters you are supposed to hate."
I didn't even get to anything about Bayaz's wizardy quest, and I had this sudden epiphany where I realised that I had completely ceased to care about said quest. I didn't care about any of the characters I remembered from the last book at all. Maybe that's a consequence of leaving it so long to read book 2, or maybe that's why I left it so long in the first place: I just didn't
care
any more.

About this post: I’m just an average entrepreneur who finds certain marketing, advertising and business stuff fascinating. This post (along with all others) is nothing more than a fun little project for myself where I write about stuff I find cool.Today's post is about the time I did magic mushrooms - a 30g dose by myself with the aim to self-reflect. I never had any intention of a 'fun trip'. I wanted my ass kicked, beaten and tenderised black and blue - and I did!Now this isn't strictly a business post. It's more a self-realisation post from the point-of-view from an entrepreneur.Drugs is a weird subject. I know there's a lot of guys who rave about the 1001 benefits of weed and stuff. I'm not that guy. I personally think chronic stoners are losers. That said anyone who thinks ALL drugs are useless all the time is an idiot. As you'll see Magic mushrooms forced me to face many demons and helped me come out the other side a stronger entrepreneur and human being. This post was originally written on my blog where it's accompanied by pics I can't include here due to reddit's limitation. To read the article in it's original glory click here (don't worry there's no affiliate links or crap like that) Otherwise enjoy: How Magic Mushroom Changed My LifeUntil maybe 4 years back I was a chronic liar. Not in all respects. In fact in some ways I was the most honest person among my friends growing up. When I couldn’t get an erection with a girl, I came back and told my friends right away. They made fun and teased me – not in a vicious way – but how boys do. Funnily enough since making that admission, within the next week one of my friends came and said all of a sudden he failed to get it up. Soon after another. Now I talk openly with anyone who I deem a decent friend about not getting erections. It was my honesty which opened the door for the uncomfortable phenomenon which every male deals with in their life. But the two areas which I lied about were to make to make myself look cool, and to make excuses which I was too uncomfortable facing like a man. I’ll give examples of both: Looking cool – I would tell bullshit tales about hooking up with certain girls. Or I’d make up a story that I had visited a cool country, and maybe done cocaine with some cool people in a crazy situation. Make excuses – Say I didn’t want to go to someone’s birthday. I would happily make up lies about a close relative dying. My go to relative was an uncle. You can never have too many uncles! Jokes aside I feel embarrassed to my core that I ever did this. Particularly the lies revolving trying to make myself come off cool. It feels so lame to reject myself so outright that I need to make up shit stories. I Get My Hands on Mushrooms Anyway, around April this year my brother gave me some mushrooms, which he had no use for because he was in a shitty headspace and didn’t want to shroom in that condition. I on the other hand was in a great headspace. I had successfully closed over £11,000 of tutoring monthly tutoring business, from just 20 hours of work a week. Plus I had learned to open up to my then fiancé-now-wife, and our relationship had deepened. I remember reading a long time ago, from a guy called Terrence McKenna, that if one wanted a really introspective trip he should take a high dose by themselves. This is exactly what I wanted. Since leaving my office job lift back in April 2014, and starting my entrepreneurial journey I’ve had to face a lot of bullshit I was holding on to. That’s the beauty of entrepreneurship. You have to face reality if you wish to succeed – and that starts first with yourself. With the help of meditation, self-reflection and listening to certain teachers such as Alan Watts and Osho I had come a long way. I was a far happier person with both the world and myself. I had no intention of using the Mushrooms as some recreational trip. Instead I wanted to face whatever demons the sacred mushrooms were ready for me to face. I expected the trip to challenge the very essence of who I was, but I felt ready for whatever came my way. I chose a Saturday, where my fiancé was with her parents, cleaned the house, got all my tasks and errands out the way, put on a pre-chosen spotify music playlist and chewed the mushrooms thoroughly. What followed was one of the most powerful emotion, physical and spiritual rollercoasters I’ve ever faced. The Trip: The Rollercoaster of What Happened This may sound cliché, but it’s simply not possible to describe a session with Magic mushrooms justice. Words are just too cumbersome describe what the experience holds. It would be like trying to make a surgical incision with a chainsaw – or trying to describe the sound of birds chirping to someone who had never heard it. What I will say is that there were two major “feelings” or “findings” I experienced of significant importance to me: 1) I felt so loved by the world. Imagine what it was like to feel scared and unsure as a child, and to then feel the warm embrace of a loving parent showcasing a strength higher than yours which made you feel both safe and free at the same time. That’s how I felt. The world was telling me not to worry. It was addressing the scared child inside me which fights every day and feels scared behind it all. It was nothing short of beautiful.  2) This loving feeling told me one thing which I wanted to hear for so long. That the world – both those I know and love me, and new strangers who I’ve yet to know are ready and waiting to accept the real me. I was told I didn’t need to lie or act cool. I was loved for who I am. And if anything the shedding of the lies to act cool would only allow the love and connection between me and everyone else. It was so reassuring. I felt meek but at peace like I hadn’t in years. It was an exhausting bliss. Oh man I read back on what I’ve wrote, and whilst I think I’ve done well to capture the essence of the magic I felt that day, it in no way truly captures the message I felt that day. Those interested will have no choice to go through the experience first-hand. There is no other way. I felt thoroughly exhausted. But in the best way possible. How it's affected me and my business since Though the experience has long passed, the message I received that day carries on with me today. And because of it I’m lying less and less, and learning to love both myself and others as they are – flaws and all. It’s also had a big impact on my ability to get more business. Before I realised to accept myself, I would often stretch the truth regularly in my marketing and selling activity. I guess I felt who I was, and what I was capable of wasn’t enough to bring in clients. Since shrooms, I’ve come to realise that the reason I got my clients wasn’t on my crazy claims, but my ability, and presence of character. It’s allowed me to strip away the unnecessary crap in my client acquisition process, which in turn has brought me a peace of mind I didn’t have. Don’t get me wrong I still have plenty of doubts about myself. And I haven’t stripped myself of all the lies and bullshit I speak. But it’s drastically less, and I feel lighter and happier within myself.  About MeMy name is Ganon (not real name) and I’m an active entrepreneur with moderate success. What I love to do is write, and I do it for the fun of it. Hopefully you liked it - if you did let me know. This is the 3rd post I've ever shared. If you like my stuff check out my personal blog here

A Mexican kid meets Donald Trump and says to him, “I want to be President one day.” Trump says, “Are you stupid? Are you an idiot? Out of your mind?”
The kid replies, “You know what, I’ve changed my mind. Those are too many requirements.”

So Barack Obama and Donald Trump somehow ended up at the same barber shop…
As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were both afraid to start a conversation, for fear that it would turn nasty. As the barbers finished their shaves in silence, the one who had Trump in his chair reached for the aftershave. But Donald was quick to stop him, jokingly saying, “No thanks. My wife, Melania, will smell that and think I’ve been in a brothel.” The second barber turned to Barack and said, “How about you, Mr. Obama ?” Barack replied, “Go right ahead, my wife Michelle doesn’t know what the inside of a brothel smells like.”

President Donald Trump and his driver were cruising along a country road one night when all of a sudden they hit a pig, killing it instantly.
Trump told his driver to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what had happened. About one hour later Trump sees his driver staggering back to the car with a bottle of wine in one hand, a cigar in the other and his clothes all ripped and torn.
“What happened to you?” asked Trump
“Well, the farmer gave me the wine, his wife gave me the cigar, and his 19-year-old daughter made mad passionate love to me.”
“My God, what did you tell them?” asks Trump.
The driver replies, “I’m President Donald Trump’s driver, and I just killed the pig.”

Donald Trump is visiting a elementary school and he visits one of the classes. They are in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asks Mr Trump if he would like to lead the discussion of the word “tragedy.”
So he asks the class for an example of a tragedy. One little boy stands up and offers: “If my best friend who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy.” “No,” says Mr Trump, “that would be an accident.”
A little girl raises her hand: “If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.” “I’m afraid not,” explains the exalted businessman. “That’s what we would call a great loss.” The room goes silent. No other children volunteer. Mr Trump searches the room. “Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?”
Finally at the back of the room, little Johnny raises his hand. In a quiet voice he says: “If a private jet carrying you was struck by a missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy.” “Fantastic!” exclaims Mr Trump, “That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?” “Well,” says the boy, “because it sure as hell wouldn’t be a great loss and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either.”

Donald says, “Son, that’s a great idea!”

Donald looks at her and says, “Babe, that is a fantastic idea! The best I’ve heard!”

On the night of his inauguration, Donald Trump is visited by 3 ghosts.
Early in the night, FDR appears. Trump asks him “How can I make America great again?” FDR replies “Think only of the people; do not make laws based on hatred, bigotry, or with the thought of lining your own pockets.” Trump’s face sours “FAKE NEWS!” He screams and FDR disappears. Trump falls back to sleep.
A few hours later, he is awakened by George Washington’s ghost. Trump asks “Jow can I make America great again?” Washington replies “I would suggest you never tell a lie”, which infuriates Trump. He screams for his bodyguards but Washington is already gone.
Around 3 in the morning, he is visited by the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. Again, he asks “how can I make America great again?” Lincoln thinks for a bit and says “Go to the theater.”

THE QUEEN HAS RETURNED.
BOW DOWN AND WORSHIP AT HER FEET
*insert bunch of emotional gifs here*
WELCOME BACK <33333333 :D *hugs*
Ok you know how bad I am with linking OTL I’m not even gonna try because I’ll probably mess it up. BUT. Queen Luna must see the glorious Saiko/Urie conent, so…I know it’s in the omakes for Volume 7 and you can totally find a link for it on reddit (the complicated way I found a translation for that omake: first search ‘Tokyo Ghoul Re omake Saiko and Urie’ on google. Click on the first result ('TG:Re volume 7 omake translations’), then go to Part 3 of the omake translations). Idk I’m so sorry OTL
Do you know. Touken had a freaking wedding ceremony this new chapter. The only good thing about that was that Touka and Kaneki’s costumes were serious eye candy, beautifully drawn (I mean, it was Shuu’s work, how could they not be beautiful) and that we got to see drunk Yomo stealing Nishiki’s glasses and calling him 'Nishi’.
(Also Kaneki is just really mean to Shuu? I mean, he never apologized for what happened with Kanae, he never talks about what happened during the Tsukiyama Family Extermination Operation arc, he smilingly told Shuu “I’m going to marry Touka’ to his face, and this chapter he’s seen sitting alone with Touka, telling her that Shu insisted on them having a wedding and planned all himself. We don’t even get a 'thank you’ from Kaneki, just Touka being all "Hey, he’s always been good at that kind of stuff.”
Like, come on. You ruined Shuu’s life, Kaneki, even if you didn’t mean to, and you never apologized. Don’t you think it’s, oh, I don’t know, a little insensitive to go talking about how happy you are in front of him and act like everything’s cool when it hasn’t even been that long since you impaled him, threw him off a roof, and indirectly killed his cousin?)
W O W that really is heaven/hell on earth.
Dolphins. Seahorses. All the activities. It sounds so fun, I’m so jealous ;-; says the person who’d curl up in a ball and die of awkward embarrassment if they ever went to a place like that
Hot Mystery Person must be very attractive if he made the Queen helpless 0.0
Ok I didn’t even notice that until you pointed it but now. Omg. I’m sorry, but this is what my brain created-
Tsukiyama: “Longing for Tatsuo, missing my wife, that’s when Kaneki Ken-kun walked into my life, he said-”
Kaneki: “I know you are a man of honor, I’m so sorry to bother you at home, but I don’t know where to go, and I came here all alone…”
Tsukiyama: “He said-”
Kaneki: “My wife’s doing me wrong, sir ;-; beating me (cue several canon flashbacks of Touka beating him up), cheating me, mistreating me, suddenly she’s up and gone- I don’t have the means to go on…”
THE KANEKI PAMPHLET
HAVE YOU READ THIS?!?!
And Naomi during Burn
“Tsukiyama Shuu, I think you’re forgetting that I’m a Chimera Ghoul…”
(Ok tbh it would be more like extreme numbness, a lot of heartbreak and secretly crying when she thinks no one’s looking, but shush, let’s pretend for the sake of comedy)
And Tatsuo crashes in like
“Heard you couldn’t keep it in your pants
PrEpAre tO dIE”
(sorry lol)
(Also: I’m planning on starting Hunter x Hunter this week or the next, just because of freaking Hisoka OTL have you ever watched/read it?)
I KNOW! I was such an idiot ;-; I think it was mostly the art style that made me think that, because tbh it looks a lot like typical Shounen art during the earlier manga chapters and in the anime (I do think it starts looking a lot better in later manga chapters though).
Ok, the thing about Mustang is that I like him and hate him at the same time. It isn’t his fault, but tumblr made me think that basically “TINY MINISKIRTS” + cool flame powers + major troll to Ed + loves Promotion almost as much as Urie= Roy Mustang, and turns out that was wrong XD I mean, all of those ARE true, but there’s a lot more to his character than that and he’s also colder than I thought he’d be (especially for a guy with fire powers lol sorry). He’s still really cool, though.
True, just from what I know about him Greedling seems to have a LOT more development than the original Greed ever had. I still like Original Greed though, mostly for his attitude and his style XD (something about his 'death’ scene and his final words to Father sort of gave me chills, in a weird way)
I expected Al & Ed to be your typical shounen protagonists but they’re a lot more complex than I thought! And way more likable. Al’s kitty obsession gives me life.
Also, Lust. Freaking Lust. I just read her death scene today and even though I’d already watched it as a clip from the anime it still gave me chills (especially since I was imagining her English VA’s voice and WOW).
And Bradley. I was sort of expecting him to either turn out to be a villain or play a really big role in the story later on, but I wasn’t quite expecting him to be Wrath…the moment it was revealed I was like “oh NO” because come on, I liked Bradley ;-; he was a cool dude.
As for Scar, idk. He’s not quite the type of character I usually 'crush’ on but he’s just… wow 0.0 I also just like his character in general, all his backstory and personality and his character arc.
(Though if I imagine meeting him irl all I can see is him giving me one look and me immediately curling up into a ball on the floor and just freezing up right there because wow, that’s scary
Scar: “…Did it die?”)
Aww, TYSM <3 It’s great to have you back! :D
P.S:
Remember how I’ve talked about my art before? I mean, it’s wonky and weird and almost never colored, but I might actually be able to show some of it to you this week or the next! :D I only just figured out how to submit pictures to tumblr OTL (Yes,I have no idea how tumblr works ok) so…do you want to see it? XD
Oh, I see ^^ take your time! I’m looking forward to your reply :D
Also, FMA update:
I met Olivier. She was one of the characters I was interested in even when I only knew FMA from tumblr, and now that she’s actually appeared….I love her. She’s amazing. I’m officially over Lust (sorry bae but you’ve been dead for a while)
I also like Mustang a lot better now. He’s slowly but surely worming his way into my ‘top characters’ list (especially after I watched that one Koma Theater thing with his 'on hold’ song omg).
And hey, Ling suddenly became one of my favs. Idk how even because I was sorta indifferent to him at first but just… don’t ask LOL I’ve also met Greedling and I definitely see why he’s one of your favs :D I personally can’t quite 'crush’ on him tho because he’s two different people mashed into one body…guess that just means Queen Luna can have him all to herself ;)
Also, Kimblee/Kimbly/Kimberley/Kimberly/whatever the heck his name is supposed to be (I want to go with Kimblee or Kimberley but then I see someone else using a different version and it’s like “??? can I just call him Fedora-chan?”). This Magnificent Bastard. I hate him. I love him. Possibly one of the most interesting characters in the entire series. Boy, you got me helpless- and NOT IN A GOOD WAY *incoherent screaming*
(and my crush on Scar is still there. Yes, I’d still curl up in a ball and die if we met irl, who cares)
(Last note: Sloth. SLOTH. It’s freaking Tatsuo no one can convince me otherwise. He’s put on a weird costume to troll the FMA cast.)
And then I disappeared again for a while :PP Well, hopefully I’ll be able to answer more often now, but if I don’t, it means the internet is acting up again ;-;
AAAAND THERE GOES MY HEART. CRAP. SAIKO/URIE IS A BLESSING TO THIS WORLD.
They what. What?? NOW?? IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING THAT’S HAPPENING???? As you can see, I haven’t read the new chapters yet ^^;;
Wow, that really is mean from Kaneki. Damn it. I love Shuu and am still not over Kanae, because Kanae and Shuu. HNNNGH, WHY DID KANANE HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE?? Drunk Yomo does seem entertaining, tho.
Dude, a guy thought I was playing a game where I was supposed to be as silent as possible in the camp, because I literally read and slept 90% of the time.
Seriously, tho, I’m still not over the guy. Damn. BUT HEY I GOT INTO AN ANIME WHICH has a character who’s definitely more attractive ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aaand, he is voiced by Suwabe. Yaaaas. Time to binge the 223 chapters of manga!
WELL FUCK. THE KANEKI PAMPHLET. SHIT. COME ON.  I mean, I was the one who mentioned it first, but damn. Congratulations with Tatsuo would be interesting.
Nope, I never read/watched it, but I heard a lot of good things about the anime ^^ So, tell me about it when you’re done (or when you get a feel of it).
Art improvement is my favourite thing to see in manga. My favourite mangas for that are probably Fairy Tail, Akatsuki no Yona and Black Butler, since the art progression is very visible and damn it, I love seeing people improve.
Mustang is my ultimate favourite in FMA. Cause MUSTANG.  Ahem.
OH SNAP SNAP. SPARK SPARK. IT’S TIME TO LIGHT UP THE DIGGY DIGGY ART. I’M THE FLAME ALCHEMIST AND I’M GONNA BE FUHRER. MY BEATS ARE HOT AND MY RHYMES ARE PURER. I LIKE THE LADIES IN THE MINY SKIRTS. I’LL BE POSING IN THE MIRROR WITHOUT MY FANCY SHIRTS. I’M GONNA SET YOUR HEART ON FIRE WOOSH WOOSH. AND YOU KNOW MY HEART BURNS BRIGHT TOO KABOOM KABOOM. MY FIREPOWER TONIGHT IS FEELING JUST RIGHT KABLAM KABLAM
*slams the phone down* Fun fact: this was written from memory. I actually know the whole song. Help.
I.
Am.
Gay.
For.
Lust.
Also, Olivier.
Those two are just... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I think you’ll like seeing Scar more in the future, since he gets even more development. Cause he gets a lot of it. Everyone does, though.
I think Scar would be fascinated with you. Like, ‘this smol thing. I want to protect it. What is this feeling’
AAAA! I hope you submit your art soon! I really want to see it!!
Olivier is bae. She can step on my face and I won’t complain.
Ayyy I get 2 guys at the same time. Greedling is second to Mustang. Cause damn??? Especially when Greed is in control?? Damn.
Kimblee, says the wiki, is my nightmare. I never really liked him, honestly. Cause  shit, the guy blows stuff up for fun. He is definitely interesting, but I’d be scared to be in a 5km radius of him. He’d blow me up. One sarcastic remark, and I’d probably be dust. Yay.
Ahahah Tatsuo Sloth. Wow.
Sloth scares me, to be honest.  A lot of fma characters scare me, it appears.

Is this legit? How is this not exploding right now?
It will. It’s 3 am on a Monday night, this will go ham tomorrow morn.
Just about midnight here in California (but this story won’t see the light of day here). Looking forward to seeing this get huge
the world is better because of people like you. think i’ve seen your username before too
I appreciate that, you as well. Keep on the righteous path
He’s a bot
wow, a feel good bot and you can’t even see “his” post history. Really strange shit.
Except here on Reddit. The liberal circle jerk will keep it out of the main subs.
It’s O’Keefe so media will ignore it “cause he’s a criminal and propagandist”.
OANN will be playing this at 11a.m. Eastern
One America News Network said they are going to show the tapes at 11a.m. eastern!
7 hours later and it’s been taken down
Maybe that’s how.
This guy has been popped before for editing videos in ways that change the message and it was really early in the morning. The other thing is that his guy works for CNN Health, but w.e.
in ways that change the message
Any examples? I hear this said but in context his videos have always seemed equally damning. Taking down ACORN put a target on his back during an adminstration known for prosecuting joirnalists and political enemies so saying “zomg community service” doesn’t cut it for me.
Any examples? I hear this said but in context his videos have always seemed equally damning. Taking down ACORN put a target on his back during an adminstration known for prosecuting joirnalists and political enemies so saying “zomg community service” doesn’t cut it for me.
Any examples? How about the one you named yourself. O’Keefe had to pay out $100,000 to one of the former ACORN employees after he handed over the entire unedited videos which the California AG reviewed and found, “no evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.”
He even admitted in that case that he was just trying to damage ACORN and wasn’t acting with any sort of journalistic objectivity.
His entire career is like that. He releases “damning” video evidence which when compared to the raw video prove to be heavily edited segments which misrepresent the stated views of the people he films by removing context or chronologically shifting the video to make it appear bad.
By comparison, O’Keefe makes media outlets like CNN and Fox with their horribly biased and non-journalistic practices look like absolute angels.
You’re acting like the one good employee ACORN had absolves the other horrible employees who willingly helped a supposed pimp who was prostituting out underage girls and never sought help from a child advocacy group let alone the police after the meeting. You’re doing some subterfuge yourself. If O’Keefe’s undercover vids on ACORN encouraged a reform and improved protocol on how employees react to pimps and who they should contact after, then it was worth it bc, apparently, most of the employees don’t have an idea of what is right or wrong, including when it involves pedophilia.
No wrongdoing was found to have occurred by ACORN when the full video came out. That was the findings of the California AG office and the federal Government Accountability Office.
Well, half true. The case in California was a terrible case and Okeefe should be ashamed for not following through on what the workers did after he left. But the Brooklyn DA reviewed the tapes that affected their region and found that although they were heavily edited, the most damning words were still very much in context.
There was 100% wrong doing found at ACORN. You’re a liar. There was no criminal wrong doing. As being an unethical asshole is not against the law. One of the employees caught on tape had gone to the police and had been leading on O’Keefe. There was no way for O’Keefe to know that; the rest of the employees did not. That employee sued him as they lost their job and were doing the right thing.
Which means the rest of them were actively giving advice for criminal conduct and had no intention of reporting it to the police.
Not really, the msm just do to okeefe what they did to center of medical progress. Throw around ‘deceptive edit’ and dont back it up when the full tapes are released.
What part is fake?
It’s a project veritas release. The people who keep getting busted for releasing edited and out of context videos. The odds of this being legit are approaching zero. Basically, nothing this guy releases is true. He literally generates the fake for fake news.
Can you back that up?
Please provide citations.
Mirror
https://youtube.com/watch?v=jdP8TiKY8dE
Thank you, good sir.
I’m sure I’m the minority opinion here but project veritas has a history of editing video. I don’t think we should look too much into what they do until they release raw footage. When it cuts to the background images for the “because it’s ratings” part it sounds very different than the preceding lines. CNN does suck 99% of the time but that doesn’t mean any attack against it is credible.
All videos are edited. Every single one. This ‘deceptive edit’ crap falls apart when the full vidoes are released showing it in the same context.
Ok then let’s wait until the full video is released before making concrete judgments.
We do; and they are vindicated every time by those of us who bothered to watch them. Meanwhile useful idiots read an article from Salon that claims they watched the full videos and that the clips were deceptively edited. Releasing the full videos does not get the Democrats to shut up about “doctored” videos; as that is their only deflection of the deep seated corruption within their party and their political allies.
[removed]
Can you provide a context in which his comments would be seen as ok?
It’s a business, people are like “The media has like an ethical…” psssshhhhh…
But all the nice cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school, you’re just like, that’s adorable. That’s adorable. This is a business
You honestly couldn’t make up a worse quote if you tried to. Holy shit.
The saddest part is his words wouldn’t be so damning if they weren’t so honest.
Probably the first time he does something honest, and it is going to backfire on him.
But muh context!
I’m sure they must have edited out a part at the beginning where the Project Veritas guy said “let’s play a game where I ask you questions and you make up fake answers that make CNN look as horrible as possible.” Or a part at the end where the CNN guy said “lol jk I really had you going there didn’t I?” Right guys??
HOW DARE HE ATTACK THE STELLAR REPORTERS OF CNN
DON LEMON IS ETHICS INCARNATE
ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A RACIST
So, politics aside. People stopped paying for real reporting and news. Combine the lack of interest in actual reporting, and the media mergers and newspaper buyouts, etc and you get this media environment. It rewards shock headlines and ‘fake news,’ because no one wanted to purchase journalism and even if they did, public trading of news companies means cost cutting and share holder profits are more important than news…. so what?
we have only one model that doesn’t get fucked by this and it is NPR. And NPR ain’t great, because government funding for it got cut years ago and the replacement ‘funding from ‘charitable foundations for agenda reporting,’ and listener donations sucks. So decent reporters bounce out of NPR ASAP and American suffers.
So the market is rewarding sensationalism, and firms are producing sensationalism?
Yes.
But this isn’t anything new. Sensationalist news has been a part of the human experience for centuries.
Media mongrel Hearst from the early 20th century made his fortune off of fake news. It was common in the 19th and early 20th century. Some what died down in the mid 20th century; and became dominant again at the end of the 20th century.
we have only one model that doesn’t get fucked by this and it is NPR.
NPR has a horrible liberal bias. They’ll pick a topic like ‘The benefits of abortion’ and then discuss the topic in a somewhat fair manner. But the bias was built into the topic and no amount of honest discussion can overcome that, especially when 90% of the people talking are liberals.
I really like this response, because I agree, but not exactly in the same way. Your response illustrates a particular problem: You think NPR has a liberal bias, because you are to the right of it. I think NPR has a centrist bias, because I’m to the left of it. Either way, we both think NPR doesn’t represent our views fairly and doesn’t ask questions in an objective way.
NPR leans left; though not as much as CNN. If you were going to give it a scale of -10 to 10 (positive 10 being extreme conservative):
MSNBC: -8
CNN: -4
NPR: -2/-3
Fox: 4
National Review: 8
So if you’re a typical reader of Salon or viewer of MSNBC and you have been duped into thinking you’re somewhat moderate; than you may think NPR is “towards” the center. But there is no doubt that it leans left.
Business Insider did a piece of news source bias a few years back. NPR is, as per their research, not close to centrist but leftist .
This is cool link, however it does not say what you say it does, it says the ‘Audience of NPR is more liberal.’ It makes no conclusions about the content.
As a regular NPR listener, I can assure you that they spend a wildly disproportionate amount of time pushing issues that are only important to a tiny minority of the population (surprise: that would be a varied number of far-left activist groups that send them press releases on the topic). In the particular example I’m thinking of, the cause represents something like 10% of a 5-10% minority in the U.S. I hear the same “news” and “personal interest” stories promoting that issue literally every day. The only things that ever change are the names of the people involved (and maybe one or two minor details). It’s the exact same political narrative, hammered over and over and over again. It is literally no longer newsworthy, yet I still hear it in their “news” coverage every day.
The thing is, I’m sure that NPR doesn’t even realize how disproportionately they’re covering the topic. It’s of particular interest to them and most of their audience because it reinforces their preexisting worldview biases…and the issue has been weaponized and is now being used to attack anyone on the “other” side of that issue.
The thing is that they make no bones about it being liberal, and they are at least good at disclosure. You hear how liberal they are every 15 minutes when the call out supporters.
They also have conservative guests on all the time. Congressmen, PR staff from think-tanks, candidates and staff. They come off as smart, engaged people just looking to make things better. Sure, most of the audience and all the staff think they’re wrong. But it’s opposition, not smears
If you just want to know what’s going on in the world, you could do a whole lot worse.
I stopped listening to NPR during the 2012 election. They would have a “panel” about a political topic. The Moderator would be a hard core democrat. Then he would have 3 panelists on. One who was extremely far left (socialist), one who was a hard core Democrat, and one who was moderate (who they called a Republican). The “Republican” threw Romney and Republicans under the bus on every topic and talked about how Republicans were extreme (the guy supposedly representing Right).
That panel would have been horrible enough had they had a real conservative on there who actually believed in Republican policies (as he would be out numbered 3:1); but the fact that they put up a strawman of a Republican on just so he could provide legitimacy to the program was down right infuriating. Fuck that network.
Thank you for being a voice of reason. The real shock of this video should be the realization that all our media is like this, not just CNN.
Thank you for not going directly to the T_D “fuck MSM, CNN, they’re out to get us”…
I may not agree with most of y’all on a lot of issues, but I do agree that there are loads of issues plagueing(sp?) this country. Media and journalism being pretty damn high up there. Especially the fact that it is a driving force if the polarization and partisanship of politics we have today.
I am a big fan of government funded stuff like NPR/PBS/etc, but the thing I am worried about just as you are is how can this be funded by the [insert political party] without them having undue influence over content and context that is out out…it’s a tough question with a probably even tougher solution.
Every group will deny and try to fight news and reporting that makes them look bad. It’s PR, I get it, but when that party is directly responsible for the funding of said programming, how can one prevent retaliation when they report on the actions (good or bad) of that party.
If liberals can post salon and mother jones articles 24/7 on r/politics, they’ll probably believe whatever CNN told them anyway.
My new favorite is holding the independent up as some holy bastion of new reporting. Its little more than a tabloid
And the Guardian
US liberals like to pretend that UK news outlets are never biased
I would argue that UK news outlets are more biased.
But they’re European. Theyre much smarter than us hillbilly Americans /s
I’m in complete agreement. There is a very scummy element is These English news outlets. Have a read about the phone hack scandals if you want a good laugh
just goes to show how morally bankrupt CNN and the rest of the MSM is.
Cable news, in general, is wet, hot garbage.
Print and other forms of news are just as bad though.
It’s literally all dogshit.
This project verita video is amazing though. Puts it all out right in display.
We have the best undercover journalists, don’t we folks?
Amazing? I thought it was over produced and repetitive. They showed the same lines six times in a row.
That’s project veritas for ya
Still good that this is out there but the editing is crap lol
If everything is bad, where do you get your information?
Consensus and time.
Most of the time, most of the news from all these different “partisan” outlets is actually identical. There’s not much difference in the handling of facts, only the angle or the narrative. So when you’re looking up a story that actually matters, read the same story from 8 different, competing, clashing outlets so that forming a narrative is impossible.
News outlets are dishonest, but they don’t usually fabricate. Their spin is more like a reality TV show being edited, inserting context, or removing relevant facts. Reading all the different edits at the same time quickly reveals what is craft, and what is real. Once you do that, you have the facts.
The news brings you the facts because that’s what you ask for. But that’s not really what people want. Their business model is about offering clarity, interpreting the facts into understandable storylines. They take a complicated, crowded, confusing world, and make it nice and neat. Demand is created for a product that has nothing to do with facts. If the news industry was a gas station, facts would be the gasoline, and narrative would be the snacks and drinks.
“The news” is an entertainment product. News junkies are not informed people, they are just entertainment addicts. If you want to be informed, you have to think like a journalist, not an addict.
e: TV news is especially bad because of the medium. TV is slow, information-light, and non-interactive. Good for interviews and speeches, little else.
At the end of the day, this is what happens if you leave journalism to the free market. State sponsored news would be infinitely worse, of course, but this video is a perfect example of what happens when you try and make informing people a business.
I only trust news that doesn’t use click bait titles, doesn’t use dramatic language, and moves on to something else once the segment is over. That pretty much leaves pbs.
The current media situation is a direct result of the elimination of the fairness doctrine by Reagan, and especially the Telecommunications act of 1996 courtesy of Clinton. It’s astoundingly difficult to get a straight true version of almost any news event these days.
I know what you are trying to say, but I would actually argue it is easier.
With the internet and the democratization of information, it is not that difficult to get actual hard facts and even read spin from all sides and form your own opinion.
I think most people are just either lazy, don’t care, or want to read something from their perspective. With your take, it seems the only logical solution would be some state intervention or some new law, which would not be good.
That is a lot of trust in people. Most people just use the internet to find the “facts” to back their pre-conceived belief and stop there.
Its how we’ve ended up in/with huge echo chambers as the divide in the country grows and grows.
While I don’t necessarily disagree with your statement, and don’t trust people, I just think the vast majority don’t care.
Actually most people don’t give a shit about politics like us, and they shouldn’t. It is difficult to see that when you are passionate about it and caught up in discussion and the news everyday.
I don’t really give a shit about politics either. I just like being well-informed. That means being informed about the shell game that is modern American politics.
I sort of disagree about the internet part. I think the internet contributes to the problem because it allows people with zero critical thinking skills access to reams of truly fake news that they aren’t equipped to deal with. I recall a few months ago my Facebook feed lit up with stories posted by my more conservative friends and relatives about how Clinton was under indictment, and had fled the country in a private jet with the FBI hot on her heels. Then there was the whole pizzagate thing that ended with a guy barging into a pizza restaurant with a gun looking for a nonexistent basement full of pedophilia victims. I don’t know what the solution to all this is because regulating the internet in any way that would alleviate the problem would have massive negative consequences, and would most likely be unconstitutional to boot.
I understand your point, and it is made by many, if not most.
I just completely disagree, and believe you, and others, are blowing it out of proportion. One, I understand many people get their “news” from facebook, but it is not a news source. Rarely are people actually reading the articles posted, just the headlines and others’ opinions and then arguing in the comment section. It is more of an activity than just getting the news.
And ok people are dumb and lazy, but still, the majority of Americans, as they should be, are politically apathetic and actually don’t care about any of this shit. They just want their cute cat videos and memes, go to their jobs pay for their shit and pursue their own happiness. It is tough to see that when you are passionate about politics and see the craziness going on, as am I, but it is true.
And pizzagate was a fringe conspiracy, not believed by many, and I understand that more were open to it being true, but only a very small amount actually actively believed in it. And, overtime, the community who did actively believed in it shrunk, and I believe that is a direct result of continuous research and discussion on the open internet. That guy who went to the pizza parlor clearly was crazy and has some other issues, and was he motivated or spurred by this small fringe conspiracy community? Yes, probably, but again, it was very, very small. I am more concerned about main stream news outlets and the left openly saying the GOP is going to kill people and all republicans are Nazis, which is all accepted and mainstream, and if true, I mean somewhat justifies violence, if they are all Nazis and going to kill people?
So, you speak of trying to find a solution to something that is not really a problem. That is just what scares me, the left and right do that all the time. Err on the side of not making laws or regulations or “solutions”, freedom and the market takes care of it. The internet is much more of solution than contributing to a small problem. That form of thinking, even from a conservative point of view, only leads down the road to regulation and control, and less freedom.
I’d agree with you if I didn’t see people I regarded as reasonable and intelligent falling for this crap on a daily basis. I’ll also reiterate that I’m in no way advocating for more internet regulation, but I don’t buy the free market will fix things argument either. The free market follows profits, and telling people what they want to hear will always be more profitable, than telling simple truth.
Yes, the internet gives critical-thinkers the power to consume a ton of reports and form their own opinions, but most people aren’t doing this. Most people don’t use the internet for investigative or comparative journalism. Most people get their “news” from their television or radio broadcast of choice.
We don’t need new laws to regulate what can and cannot be reported. We don’t need a government agency picking winners and losers by controlling funding or airtime. We need some goddamn leadership. We need a president or other high-visibility leader who can be trusted, who has proven integrity, and who communicates with “both sides” to speak to the importance of holding journalists and media networks accountable.
We need the press to keep the government in check, but we need to keep the press in check. “We”, on average, don’t give a shit, so it’s hard to see this starting with us. The corporate click-bait press isn’t likely to usher a true leader into the White House, and the people there now sure as hell aren’t going to change their tune to their own detriment, so I don’t know how we get here. Sad.
“fairness doctrine” has nothing to do with this. It was a ploy to force radios to give liberal commentators shows that no one would listen to and they would lose money on.
Don’t forget that public trading of media companies means they are beholden to share holders, rather than accountable to the general public for the quality of their journalism.
hiding under the guise of the first amendment to publish stories like this is where it should be wrong, the first amendment shouldn’t protect news agencies from publishing false claims as the effect on public perception could be disastrous to the republic as we have seen this past year. It should be treated as yelling fire in a movie theater
It is absolutely amazing how deluded and ignorant the people over at r/politics can be.
This same video was posted there, and rather than be concerned about a CNN producer laughing at the idea of ‘ethics’ in their reporting, they instead claim that Okeefe only makes fake news. They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence, that couldn’t possibly be taken out of context, and merely attack the source. (not to mention that their favorite video against Trump, the Billy Bush grab-em-by-the-pussy video, is exactly the same type of video.)
Its the easiest way of dismissing evidence out of had without actually having to look at it.
Exactly why reddit is terrible, you can hide posts you don’t like and popular opinions go to the top.
I mean it’s good for sports and stuff, but terrible for anything opinion-formed.
They are burying their heads so far in the sand
Oh, they’re burying their heads all right, just not in sand.
Why all of the jump cuts? Veritas just opens themselves to all of this criticism. Show us the unedited video from beginning to end if it’s so damning. I will never trust a veritas video that’s not one unedited stream of content. They’ve burned bridges too many times before this to demand any less.
Have you ever watched a single investagative report in your life? All are jump cut because because there can be hours of filler between points. Do you really want to waste your time watching them order hot wings and excusing themselves for a shit?
They could make 2 versions available…
Tell you what. I’ll take 5 minute clips. Not 15-20 seconds. That make you happy?
O’Keefe released hours of raw footage for the Planned Parenthood release; and the useful idiots still ignored them. Essentially reddit was full of leftist saying “Well I read Salon; and they watched the full video and they said the clips were deceptively edited. So clearly they were doctored.”
Hopefully O’Keefe releases the raw video

PP does actually sell fetal organs though… totaling on avg. $2-3k for all the organs sold in 1 fetus. This is not some conspiracy theory either. There are published receipts and invoices from organ/tissue repository companies ordering these fetal organs directly from PP to then sell to biotech or academic centers.
Shipping tissues is expensive, they aren’t dumping a fetus’s liver into a leftover Amazon Prime box and sending it on 1-week USPS. It involves very expensive refrigeration packages, fast shipping, and so on.
It’s so morally despicable that they’re giving the tissues to science. We should be cremating and burying the 5-gram clump of cells instead.
So because there were “jump cuts” AKA getting to the point because people don’t have time to watch hours long videos, the entire video is fake?
Shouldn’t stop them from releasing the unedited video on the side, just to verify
They did the same thing with the planned parenthood stuff but people still dismissed it because of “dishonest editing” even though the full version showed the same. People just want to ignore whatever goes against their narrative.
Pretty sure all people do this.
The unedited video is likely 100s of hours long and wouldn’t be able to be uploaded as anything other than a .torrent efficiently.
No, but it certainly raises questions about the veracity of the reporting. Isn’t that what people are demanding these days? If something looks sketchy, call it out. Or is that only trotted out when the news goes against one’s own narrative?
the jump cuts are because this is a secretly taped conversation only loosely connected to the topic it is being presented as connected to. You have to remove context in order to present this in a way that gets the message out that the messenger wanted.
They admitted to clickbait and we’re saying it means conclusively there’s nothing real with Russia. It’s understandable since that’s a giant leap.
The same applies to Fox News as well. 24 hour cable news stations are all in it for the ratings and appealing to their base.
Two-sides of the same coin.
Cognitive dissonance
They said the same thing about the abortion videos that they were actually a setup, or maybe factually, a couple of scenes were taken out of context. Even if they were, that doesn’t dismiss the entirety of the content
You mean like how planned parenthood sells baby parts and the DNC was literally ripping up ballots? Sure seems legit.
Wait, are you actually denying that PP sells fetal organs to tissue repository companies? Bc there are actual invoices and receipts showing that these companies purchase fetal organs from PP to then resell to biotech and academic centers. The Congressional report is pretty black and white.
For profit? Yes. Which is what the video was trying to prove.
It wasn’t attempting to prove. It was showings there was probable cause for a criminal investigation. At worse they violated U.S. law, at best they were unethical ass clowns talking callously about a very sensitive subject. Either way it showed a deeply troubling culture at the heart of Planned Parenthood; and the left couldn’t allow that to be viewed by many.
You mean like how the representive from the medical research firm flat out said they were buying body parts? Is that what you’re talking about? Did you watch the unedited film that showed the exact same thing or are you falling for the ‘deceptive edit’ bs.
How about the several investigations afterwards that found no such thing is happening, and a grand jury actually indicting the people who made the video? https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/26/us/2-abortion-foes-behind-planned-parenthood-videos-are-indicted.html
Charges were dropped. Update your links.
indicting the people who made the video?
The charges on them keep getting dropped and chamged
Those indictments have all been thrown out. The state AG has been shown to collude with PP to bring those charges
Liberal judges, obviously, government conspiracy to get in on that sweet sweet fetal organ market.
Based on this sub, I have to assume you aren’t being sarcastic, in which case I’m sorry you actually think that way.
I am. People taking Project Veritas as a serious source while condemning CNN is hilarious – CNN’s pretty shit, but not literally-charged-with-a-crime unethical.
Thank God for the sarcasm. And of course, the subs this is exploding on are r/conservative, r/uncensorednews, and r/conspiracy (Would assume T_D but have them filtered out. I’m fine seeing the occasional post from these subs to know their take, but that floods the feed a bit much).
[removed]
Ad Hominem attacks are the only way liberals know how to discuss things.
They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence
Exactly why the Dems will permanently push undecided voters to the right and continue to lose elections.
The media is not the enemy of the American people!
-The Media
r/politics moderators are removing these videos.
Here is r/politics labeling this as an “Unacceptable Source”.
Here is a working mirror to the video.
R/politics cant stand the truth
They’re awfully militant.
Reddit moderators on r/politics and r/news are typical leftists. They try to control free speech. They give an insight into what this country would be like if the left ever got control.
I take it this won’t be on r/news
Very fake news.
This is Wikileaks style, and it’s only part one
Someone make more popcorn
Well I just finished a bowl, but I can make some more if you’d like. Pop Secret Extra Butter, sprinkled with garlic salt and black/cayenne pepper ok with you?
Drowned in liberal tears I hope?
Where do you think the garlic salt comes from? Sometimes there’s even a hint of patchouli (from the hippies).
Trump is considering escalating our presence in Syria. The Senate is considering huge changes to health care. The Supreme Court just issued a bunch of interesting opinions, including one where Justice Kagan broke with the liberal justices to support a church.
CNN: lol, let’s just continue reporting the witch hunt.
This actually made me laugh. So many other legit angles they could’ve gone with vs Trump but nope. RUSSIA.
I think the REAL scandal here for the left is that a CNN producer was filmed enjoying some Chick-fil-A.
I’m not a conservative, but I’m glad this is coming out. When the media tries to whip people into a frenzy against each other, everyone loses.
Edit: Video source has a history of manipulation for conservative agenda, add grain of salt, remain skeptical of media corporations. Based on post history, /u/MiyegomboBayartsogt may be Russian propaganda shill.
Not everyone loses. Trump wins. Americans willing to work win. The people whipped into hysterical frenzy are losing it, but those indolent bed pressing citizens aren’t doing anything productive anyhow. Getting those types out in the street to pout and protest is probably the first exercise any of them have had in a long while.
You think hard-working people aren’t negatively impacted by shitty media?
So long as deep pockets and corrupt politicians can use the media with impunity to manipulate the electorate, the country is fucked. Sure, you and I might have jobs, but I’d rather strive for the quality of life under a less-corrupt regime than what exists today. Politicians actively use the media to divide the population, which distracts from actually governing the country and solving the problems millions of people have. It’s all about winning, not governing, which means American democracy is just a fucking sham…at least third-world dictators are honest about what they want.
in a normal just world, this would be in /r/all by now. Sadly, those that manages the algorithm is going to keep this from going to /r/all to reduce the red pilling as much as possible.
Two instances of it are right now, including this one. You probably won’t like the top comments on the one much higher up, though.
Wow I forgot about project Veritas. It’s oddly relieving to see them doing their thing without the stresses of the election season. It feels like I can sit back and relax and watch the dumpster fire that is the left.
Between the Russia narrative finally cracking, the democrats starting to eat each other, the Supreme Court ruling and now this, I am chuckling to myself at how right trump was. I really can’t handle this much winning in such a short amount of time. I need time to digest this much positive news. Can’t imagine how die hard liberals must feel.
Trump gambled absolutely everything – all his credibility, his political capital, his entire presidency – in a show down with the media.
Conservatives have been too chicken shit to do this for years, despite the fact we all know the media is mostly leftist propaganda. Trump came along and said, “Yeah, I’ll prove it,” and it’s working. It’s bloody well working. I am shocked how well he has flipped what looked like a hopeless narrative.
The media has lost its credibility. The deep state has been exposed to the disinfecting sun light. The Democrats have been so focused on chasing laser pointers like cats that they haven’t taken a moment to reflect on why they lost.
The Clintons are getting exposed as the snakes they are, and the whole Obama administration is taking a hit retroactively.
This is incredible. And we still might get another 2 Supremes.
tl;dr: Trump decided not to be the classic, well-trained house pet for the left. Is kicking ass. Who woulda thought?
Except the left still won’t see it that way. Still work to be done
The core of the left will never see it that way. We can only hope that a solid majority of the people will see how deluded the left is.
At least 25% of the population is irredeemable, it’s just a fact
deplorables?
No, just delusional leftists who would riot before accepting the rule of law.
Because you asked… I feel very little. There wasn’t anything in the video I didn’t already sort of know. It’s painfully obvious CNN has been hyping the hell out of this story with little to no new useful information. BUT, It doesn’t indicate at all however, that the Russia story is fake, just that CNN, like ALL cable news, is about selling a narrative their audience wants to hear, because ratings are king. I’d prefer CNN devote their time to reporting on the Nepotism, Cronyism, and incompetence of this administration, and shut the hell up about Russia until there is something to report.
CNN devote their time to reporting on the Nepotism, Cronyism, and incompetence of this administration
So stop the hysteria of a made up narrative to pick it up on a different made up narrative? Come on..
Appointing your untrained son in law to bring peace to the Middle East doesn’t smell a little like nepotism to you? You think there is no one more qualified in foreign diplomacy to tackle this task?
He should respond soon. Probably had to look up what nepotism means and is now digging through breitbart articles for an argument to regurgitate.
I feel like a lot of the things he said can be applied not only to CNN but Fox News and all cable news. Just with different agenda.
And BOOM! Just like that, CNN credibility destroyed.
To be fair, they didnt have any to begin with.
[removed]
Did you not hear “mostly bullshit” and “do it just for ratings”? This is called lying when you print false stories. The lies that were printed out a few days ago by CNN got 3 people fired.
CNN is a partisan hack of an organization that acts like it’s the Pravda arm of the DNC.
This concern trolling would not be happening if say, Fox News were caught in this kind of scheming.
Can you quote where the reporter said the leaks are bullshit?
The dude said the Trump –> Russia headlines are bullshit, not that the Trump’s Team –> Russia headline are bullshit. He also justified Russia trying to swing our election, which isn’t exactly a denial of them doing it.
Without fake news and unfounded conspiracies, Rachel Maddow will be selling oranges on the highway
This is going to be spun as out-of-context quotes that are intentionally edited to sound as a bad as possible and there really isn’t any scandal here.
The man just straight up laughed at the notion of journalistic ethics. It looks pretty bad.
He was taken out of context!!! Maybe he was reading from a play script about a jaded and corrupt Fox News journalist. /s
I think you just scored a job at CNN.
I’m just going to go by the fact I’m seeing literally dozens of newish accounts and accounts that’ve never posted in many of the subreddits this story is being posted in trying to deflect and dispute the entire video as a sign that it’s a pretty big deal for CNN right now. Seriously, I’ve never seen this much damage control on all of Reddit. Even this thread is at 58% upvoted since it hit r/all. They are panicking trying to bury this one.
I’ve noticed for months now. They like to infect subs like r/uncensorednews and other alternative subreddits that were created to get away from the shills and astroturfing.
The #1 tactic of these people is to derail conversations and change the topic.
And yet the hardcore Reddit Lefties are still pushing the Russia story. Love it and hate it at the same time. Makes them look incredibly foolish, but in the end hurts America with their ignorance.
Number 1 Trending Video on YouTube right now and it hasn’t even been a day. Of course r/politics is silent. Here’s a comment from there.
Once again, this story is already debunked & confirmed as fake. This was a low-level associate intern who decided to spew bullshit about something he has no idea about. He’s not even working directly on the Russia team. CNN has been absolutely stellar as of late and this retraction just cements that they are an elite organization that goes the extra mile to fact check and verify their sources. Couldn’t be more pleased with the stellar work CNN has been putting out lately
It’s amazing to think that these people believe the media has any reason to have any sort of journalistic integrity. Its a business. I remember during Bernie’s campaign there was a post at the top of r/all about how Clinton was funded by CNN. But now that CNN aligns with their agenda they trust them. Unbelievable.
59% upvoted, LMAOOOO

1) CNN, Fox News, etc. are all stupid ratings-chasing bullshit. Anyone who doesn’t see that by now isn’t paying attention. It’s been getting worse and worse throughout my life – haven’t really watched any MSM in years, but I’m guessing it’s all pretty abhorrent by now.
2) I don’t really care if news outlets secretly think a story is bullshit or not – but I do care what the FBI thinks. They thought there was enough to warrant an investigation. And now the story has become more about impeding that investigation.
As soon as I saw this video I knew the thread would be brigaded
Damning quotes aside, the most interesting takeaway is how much day to day control Jeff Zucker has over the narrative.
The video was removed
I’m a pretty leftist dude but I think we all have known CNN lost credibility during the election cycle with how they put Clinton on a pedestal.
I mean we all knew it, but this is still one of the most sickening things I have ever seen and still shocking even when you know news is all staged and money driven for agendas. The worst part for me was when he only laughs at the idea of journalistic ethics…
Wow that guy’s gonna get suicided by 4 bullets to the back of the head
Damn this is exciting
R/news is in some hard denial.
CNN isn’t just fake news. They are very fake news. And apparently proud of it. I wonder how the kiddies in r/politics will try and spin this. I mean, he literally says they don’t care about ethics in journalism. It’s kinda hard to spin that.
Edit- oh. They won’t spin it. They will just ignore it apparently. Neato
Edit again- Hi shareblue! Thanks for stopping by to downvote us.
While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see. Do I think some of the things that are reported, and some of Trump’s own actions and statements seem a little sketchy? Sure. But ultimately, that’s why there is currently some sort of investigation going on. I don’t need to hear about it every day because at this point there really isn’t too much more to report, and to be honest it just takes away from actually debating the policies that are being put out, especially health care currently. If something comes up in the future from this investigation or otherwise, sure let’s bring it up again and discuss it, but unless/until something like that occurs I would rather see more talk about policies.
While I must admit I am generally liberal, even I have to say all the Trump-Russia collusion stories are getting old to see.
This is the statement that should have the Democrats scared shitless.
It’s also why they’ve been trying to pivot away from the Russian witch hunt but they’re having trouble getting their people to stop. The base is convinced Trump is a traitor and won’t let up.
because they convinced them, what a vicious web we weave….
All of our intelligence says that Russia interfered and Trump says he fired Comey to slow/stop the Russia investigation, it’s not exactly all CNNs fault.
The country should be scared shitless, not just dems.
He fired comey because comey wouldnt hold a presser saying trump wasnt under investigation. Which is true and what comey told him on three diffrent occasions.
Was it dumb? Sure.
Was it interference with the russia investigation? Not even a little bit.
Share exact sentiment.
The worst part to me is how much a lot of the media alienates people, and how much I feel that extends into the everyday political discussion. You see it on all sides. I see it all the time when people call people on the left “libtards” or “snowflakes” and people on the left respond calling people on the right “Nazis” and “bigots” and “racists” and all it does it take away from substantive conversation and instead ignore any possible points that the other side may have because they are from the other side so let’s just call them names instead of actually refute arguments or points they have made.
you are a great, great great person
Concern trolls out in full force tonight.
What really blows me away is how divided along political lines so many people are. If you are 100 percent Democrat or 100 percent Republican on issues as far as the party line goes, you are also 100 percent moron. Every issue deserves discussion. There is nuance in politics which is why most congressmen go to law school.
If anything, this should be a wakeup call to everyone about their favorite news channels.
BREAKING NEWS::::: they’re all this way. They need money to make money. Fox, CNN, Breitbart, Inforwars, all of it is for-profit. They create sensationalized headlines that their viewers care about for some reason, and that’s how you keep eyes on the tube. It’s all despicable, but not surprising.
This is huge. Can’t wait to hear the official ShareBlue narrative on this one.
No mention of this on /r/politics. Head, meet sand.
I CAN’T HANDLE ALL THIS WINNING!!

WHAT YOU KNOW
It's obvious now that he didn't want a glass of water. It is true that there are more undergrads who want to meet and chat. In a technology startup, at least. Similarly, when investors habitually seem more positive than they are? But there are different kinds of antispam efforts we undertake, the better startups will do there. Those paintings have since been cleaned, revealing brilliant colors; their imitators are of course examples of startups that raise money and the only place to look was in the industries that spiked the sharpest before the Depression. If you ever end up running in parallel. Kill-or-cure strategies are optimal for VCs because they're protected by the portfolio effect. Not well, perhaps, but if you get a product launched on a few carefully observed and solidly modelled objects will tend to push you to make them all read this, a whole week's backlog of shit accumulates.
There seem to be a better platform for it. Some examples will make this clear. If your startup is lame, and few in Chicago or Miami. When someone from corp dev wants to meet, the founders should include technical people. It's more important to be right, except that your data is handed to someone else to execute. That would be an optimization, not part of the mating dance with investors; the distinction between statements and expressions, so you have to understand first of all. The way to succeed in startups. Beware of such reasoning. Historically investors thought it was too crazy.
Intelligent design is a definite skill. Young hackers can start viable companies. Or would super-angel gets 10x in one year, that's a good sign, because it taught us how it would feel better; what's surprising is how much you should worry about being an outsider is long, uninterrupted stretches, when inspiration hits, rather than trying to learn how to deal with stuff like patents and investors. I know you're skeptical they'll ever get hotels, but there's no way this tiny creature could ever accomplish anything. It has been so energetically hyped. If new ideas arise like doodles, this would be bad. Angel investors are the ones who wake up during the operation. Viaweb we were forced into by the constraints of research. But because the product is expensive to develop or sell, or simply because they're least willing to move first with lower effective valuations. What would it look like? The first is probably the second or third tier firms have a much higher break rate—it could be so much fun to write about.
Kate said that she could never pick out successful founders, she could recognize VCs, both by the way it's portrayed on TV. The fact that all these trends are leading. When you're deciding what to do about it? Pretty much every successful startup has. Practically every fifteenth century Italian painter you've heard of was from Florence, even though you won't actually use it: Lisp is worth learning for the profound enlightenment experience you will have when you finally get around to that later, when I think about why they're asking for something, but which is usually straightforward. Which is not to try explicitly to, but there's nothing magical about a degree. He says the main reason VCs like splitting deals is the fear of looking like an idiot to one's peers, and position yourself so they push you in some direction, choose good peers, and judging by Google's performance, their youth and inexperience doesn't seem to be making an effort.
One of the most knowledgeable investors in the Valley, considering how close it is. I began with, that it will seem ostentatious. In the first couple years by me. The worst thing is that their new model seems promising enough to be worth trying, and all you'll be able to keep a company as small as it can to sell whatever it sells. I've written about this before: if a good idea to understand what's happening when you do it so well. And in this economy I bet they got a good deal for everyone. Book publishers, for example, seems to have been able to deny himself anything, not even the smart kids are unpopular because they're distracted. The area under the curve is just as well not exist. Those are like experiments that get inconclusive results. Our family didn't wait for Apple TV.
Treating a startup idea. At every period of history, there seem to be how startups work. One reason, obviously, is the sort of grubby menial work that Andrew Carnegie or Henry Ford started out doing. To attack a rival they could have ignored, Amazon put a lasting black mark on their own projects, and Unix and MacLisp were organic growth projects. Fortunately, this flaw should be easy to ignore; a few might even snicker at it. And someone with a technical background and some vision of what you plan to do. The cubicles were full of long words that our teacher wouldn't have used.
So I'd be skeptical of classes and methods. An optimization marketplace would be a bad thing. If you open an average literary novel and imagine reading it out loud and fix everything that doesn't sound right. I can't think of any successful startups whose founders came to speak at Y Combinator about selling software to corporate customers. 7, though there are few of those left, it would be a natural step in this progression. When they sign a termsheet, they want in too; if not, why were they the ones teaching us? It is possible to make yourself a neutral vessel for the truth, the messier your sentence gets. The reason it pays to get version 1 done fast.
But that's something you can leave running as a background process running, looking for something we could do, is this the one with fewer employees that's more impressive. It was the worst year of my adult life, but I could probably tell you exactly how to make something lots of people who know this best are the very people who, as they call it over there, but not a great bet a few months old and doesn't have a probability for it. 5 if then that the language was suitable for writing serious programs, and this is responsible for a lot of bandwidth to crawl the whole Web. Don't worry if your company was going to die till I was in high school she already wanted to be a complete picture, just add in every possible disaster. We eventually had many competitors, on the radar screen. Because most VCs are driven by bonuses rather than equity. On top of several previous good signs. That is certainly true; in fact it could have substantial costs.
Notes
You could feel like a loser they usually decide in way less than a tenth as many per capita income. Investors are often surprised by how you wish they weren't, because the processing power you can do is fund medical research labs; commercializing whatever new discoveries the boffins throw off is as straightforward as building a new version from which they don't make wealth a zero-sum game. None at all. They'll have a bogus political agenda or are feebly executed.
What will go on to create a Demo Day. Become. In Boston the best high school to be better to read an original book, bearing in mind that it's hard to do whatever gets you growth, because outsourcing it will tend to be secretive, because she liked the iPhone too, e.
Public school kids at least once for that might be enough, the world, and most pharmaceutical startups the second. In When the Air Hits Your Brain, neurosurgeon Frank Vertosick recounts a conversation in which you ultimately need if you were able to invest in these funds have no real substance. By heavy-duty security I mean no more willing to put it here. I don't know.
You're going to have funded Reddit, stories start at the network level, and that most people realize, because you can't even measure the degree to which the inhabitants of early 20th century. If you're the sort of pious crap you were. What you're too busy to feel like you're flying through clouds you can't or don't want to take care of one's family, that it refers to features you could build products as good as Apple's just by hiring sufficiently qualified designers. More precisely, investors decide whether you're in, we actively sought out people who'd failed out of them is a bad idea, period.
These points don't apply to types of studies, studies of returns from startup investing, which have varied dramatically. I'm talking mainly about software startups.
Sam Rayburn and Lyndon Johnson. In January 2003, Yahoo released a new generation of services and business opportunities. And no, you have a moral obligation to respond gracefully to such changes, because you need, maybe you'd start to rise again. Doh.
Give the founders don't have to get rich by creating wealth—university students, he tried to raise the next generation of software from being overshadowed by Microsoft, would not be formally definable, but they were more dependent on banks for capital for expansion. The banks now had to.
When governments decide how to argue: they had to both write the sort of stepping back is one of the lies we tell as we walked in, say, good deals. If you're a loser they're done, lots of customers times how much they liked the iPhone too, of course. The danger is that if you're going to work on a saturday, he tried to lowball them. Programming in Common Lisp seems to be some things it's a book about how to appeal to space aliens, but countless other startups must have been lured into this tar pit.

Hey, parents: You don’t owe strangers candy for sitting next to your babies on an airplane
Caucasian mature Woman traveling with her baby sitting in an airplane cabin

Taking candy from a baby is easy, but there’s zero reason that parents should be handing it out to strangers on a plane to buy cooperation in case their kid screams. No matter what the internet says.
On Friday, reddit user “Fe_Mike” posted a photo of gift baggy and a little note written by a three-month old with the comment, Lady on the airplane just handed this to all of the rows around us. She now has an entire team of passengers ready to help.
If this sounds familiar, its because these little handouts usually filled with some candy and a set of ear plugs have become a full-on viral trend.
Babies should not need to apologize for being babies.
Image: fe_mike/Reddit
On the surface it’s a nice gesture, but as the mother of twin toddlers, every time I see one of these baggies go viral I am filled with rage. Other moms and dads I’ve talked to say the same thing. That’s not to say the individual parents who give these out are doing anything wrong. They’re just trying to be nice a good instinct in these tense times.
Goody bags send the message we should feel bad for having babies who act like babies. We shouldnt.
We shouldnt.
SEE ALSO: Delightful woman in her 60s has the best time on her first flight
If my child screams, it may annoy you. But there are a million ways adults can be equally annoying and they should know better.
The next time I wrestle my wriggling toddlers and all their crap onboard, I shouldn’t have to also stress that I failed to bring a dozen charming packages full of snacks for everyone around me.
We may not be handing you Instagram-worthy gifts, but the vast majority of parents are already going above and beyond to make sure our children dont bother you during the flight.
We may not be handing you Instagram-worthy gifts, but the vast majority of parents are already going above and beyond to make sure our children dont bother you during the flight. Trust me when I say, the most stressful part of traveling with a baby is not trying to clean up the inevitable poopsplosion in the minuscule aircraft lavatory during turbulence. Its worrying non-stop for the entire journey that our child will become inconsolable and disrupt the trip of every passenger within shouting distance.
Truthfully, Ive never been on a flight with my kids where I even needed to bribe my fellow passengers. Theyve all been very understanding and even helpful. (Though Im willing to admit that maybe the insane circus of trying to travel with twins has inspired people to take pity on me and my husband.) As long as everyone does their best to behave as well as they can, usually things work out perfectly well.
Still, even if you do encounter haters, who cares? You find them on the ground too, and you dont bend over backwards to please them there. So why should you worry about it at 30,000 feet?
At this late date, we all know the pains of travels tiny seats, no frills, selfish idiots and, yes, screaming babies. If you choose to fly without noise cancelling headphones, you’ve earned whatever aural suffering comes your way.
Let’s all just be as kind as we can and remember that no matter how annoying an excited toddler is to you, he or she is almost certainly 150% more irritating to his or her parents. If you want to become a real viral hero, buy that parent a drink and offer to hold their baby while they drink it.
BONUS: This breast pump is quiet enough to use on a conference call

Ad Hominem attacks are the only way liberals know how to discuss things.
They are burying their heads so far in the sand that they will deny video and audio evidence
Exactly why the Dems will permanently push undecided voters to the right and continue to lose elections.
The media is not the enemy of the American people!

r/politics moderators are removing these videos.
