yes!! just for you my dearest mutual axolotlworld… sorry I took forever to respond I really had to think about what to say!

our game is (tentatively) called COLLEGEBOUND.. or SCHOOLBOUND… or CLASSBOUND.. we are indecisive. it revolves around concepts of change, willpower, and the drive to keep going. it is tangentially related to the COVID-19 pandemic though a physical sickness is not present anywhere in the game… quite the opposite

you play as atlas, a tired sophomore who’s ready to just leave school altogether. what’s crazy though is that you can’t leave. nobody can. you’ve all been on campus and its extended neighborhood for a year straight without any contact with the outside world. your college is floating in the sky, cut off from the outside world. it’s time to fix that.

it is based VERY heavily in paper mario style combat, and is heavily inspired by games like undertale and persona 5, i would go so far as to say i hope this is an appropriate love letter to those games!! if you enjoy making friends and avoiding class, you will love this game. we are trying a lot of new things outside these games’ scopes

ideally, we get the kickstarter launched sometime after having a workable demo in mid 2025. at the moment, the majority of the demo’s soundtrack is finished, the character designs are mostly complete, and the demo’s story is 90% done. though not programmed enough to have anything tangible, the combat system is 40% complete and the UI is about 5% done. the only reason i wouldn’t be like HERES THE DEMO SCRAPS is just because i hate reading devlogs where nothing happens 😭😭

there is a secret i cannot say, but it is the reason development isn’t as quick even though it’s a two person project. just know it’s a popular mechanic for indie games to do this lately and i’m wanting to take it to a logical extreme in the most intense way possible!!!!!! which is really challenging in Unreal Engine but it is possible!

the environments and such are extremely easy and not a concern because tbh most of that is free assets we have permission to edit mixed with my hand drawn or modeled things. unironically i’m really digging the amazing world of gumball style it gives the game. i’m a huge huge perfectionist and even refuse to answer texts unless i have a perfect response so i’m polishing things as i go and am really enjoying making it!

also, we’re going to apply for multiple scholarships dedicated to things like this— with what we have so far visually we actually have a shot maybe????!!!!! i dont have any good videos on hand but the paper style is PERFECT for my art and it’s really endearing to look at and play as

🚩🚩🚩 {soft vs hard blocking, people who selectively reply to one or two mutuals ~usually their hardcore ships~ and make others wait aeons, your least favourite fandom or oc type}

SOFT BLOCKING IS STUPID. Heres my thing with blocking in general, unless you are harassing me, making my space unsafe or uncomfortable, I block. Any other case, I unfollow. If you feel as if a mun, soft blocking is necessary because you dont want to interact with a blog feels a little silly? Like I only see popular muses who get endless interactions complain about having to soft block people when most people are interested in reading their writing/material. In those cases, its stupid because some abuse the power of blocking people. If you feel the need to do so, use hard blocks as a means to an end, soft blocking can cause alot of confusion to people who want to admire your material.

SELECTIVE DOESNT MEAN ONLY RESPOND TO 2 PEOPLE. This bothers the hell out of me. Me personally, if I go through the trouble of making a blog, making this my space, making tidbits and character information, maybe even a few verses if I am feeling spicy, I do it to be able to widen my audience. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE THE BLOG IF YOU ONLY RESPOND TO 2 PEOPLE?! Just roleplay on discord or privately at that point, theres no need to even keep the damn blog active since you dont use it! ANDROIDS AND SUPERHEROS NO. My least favorite fandom roleplay wise is both Marvel and Detroit Becoming Human. Those two fandoms in my experience have been allergic to roleplaying outside of their fandom/circle and its exhausting! Like I understand most people are used to their same friend group of roleplay buddies but they are the same ones that complain about lack of interactions! You can only do so many scenarios with the same few characters and after that it becomes monotonous! Venture out! Explore! Dont even get me started on the DBH fandom because they were full of literal assholes when I got into the fandom. Between them ignoring anyone who didnt play an android or being involved with drama or not being understanding of people JUST getting into the fandom, they can kick ROCKS. For the record, I met some pleasant people from both fandoms but I ran into more assholes than ever.

OCS CANNOT BE MARY SUES. Okay as a person who always roleplayed as an oc, theres plenty of takes I can have. I hate OC's that are played as mysterious but they are that way because of their creator refuses to write down their information. I hate OC's with a backstory that copies a canon characters to a T. Taking elements from them is different, for me, I take Rocky's origin story from superman, mannerisms taken from Rarity and early feminine culture, etc etc. Most OC creators dont know the difference between inspired and copied. I hate OC's that are perfect. Oh combat roleplays end quickly because they kill your muse in one shot. You hit them and it doesnt work. They attract everyone because they are perfect and beautiful and have no flaws! I hate OC's that use the same 5 faces as if their arent billions upon billions of faces in the world to use. Im one to talk since I use Instagram models but I am so SICK of people just using actors from a popular show because they know it would get clicks, its lazy and we can see through your laziness. I hate OC's that are children of a canon but dont respect the canon at all. "oh Dean Winchesters my dad but he hunts with me all of the time and takes me gun shopping and lets me drive baby and lets me-" THATS NOT DEAN AS A CHARACTER AT ALL! You can argue 'wElL hE mIgHt HaVe ChAnGeD sInCe ThE bAbY!' BULLSHIT. Dean wouldnt let Sam drive or take care of Baby at first, what in the hell makes you think his KID is exempt from that rule?! AND FARTHER MORE, THAT MAN HAS BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK AT THE EXPENSE OF BEING A KID WHOSE DAD HUNTED. WHY WOULD HE PUT HIS KIDS IN THE SAME SITUATION?!

Bonus tidbit. My hatred of DBH muses came from this one RK800 muse. Their blog was beautiful and I was new to Tumblr. I didnt know anything about the mutual system or how they would have their rules shown. They were the first blog that caught my eye so I began to interact with them. On one of the asks, they sent me a screenshot of their rules and called me an asshole for interacting with them since they were mutuals only. Wattpad didnt have a system like that so needless to say, that single interaction has haunted me. I dont like interacting with new blogs first most of the time due to that one sour experience. truthfully i dont rlly wanna make a sweeney todd au for mop bc there are too many discrepancies plus i would never wanna put anyone through what johanna has to deal with. also itd make me like a very certain fic writer if i suddenly made a character a sex pest just to fit the narrative ghbgbrhrgbjhrgbhjrghj but mostly what has been capturing my interest is using sweeney todd's character arc as a way to study toichiro bc like. okay

sweeney todd is originally benjamin barker. a very normal barber with a very normal life. a wife and a kid on the way (??? or she was very young) and a thriving business. but then judge turpin comes along and sends him to prison and ruins that perfect life of his. then, he returns to london with only one goal: return to normalcy. only oops!!!!! wife is dead (allegedly) and child was taken in by judge turpin. which is when his goal shifts to wanting to getting his revenge. it's an extremely simple, extremely personal goal that has very little room for failure.

only it does fail. horribly. not only is his kill interrupted, but now johanna is being sent to the insane asylum where he'll never be able to see her. and it's at this moment (during the song epiphany--very fitting title) that he realizes and understands that he will never be able to return to what he once had. it's gone forever--and, even if he had succeeded, he understands in this moment that it Still would've never been able to go back to normal bc sweeney todd is living as a fugitive, his wife is dead (allegedly), and his daughter is practically all grown up without him. so his goal now becomes broader. less of a personal vengeance and more of a societal vendetta. frankly, he goes a little nuts! and decides that he will be the harbinger of death to the filth and shit of london. and it's not necessarily a superiority thing; sweeney understands he is just as bad as the worst of london, but by removing them he will at least be able to make the city less awful.

NOW kinda bringing this back to my original point. toichiro experiences KIND OF a similar arc. not going to say it's the exact same bc the reason toichiro's life falls apart is by his own hand, not by an outside force. but i think there's something to be said about like. a goal shift. what those years isolated did to his outlook on his ideals and what he wanted to do.

bc it seems like he starts claw and this whole world domination process simply bc like. he can. a test of strength, as it were. he had the power and he felt that he had the right to use it. so he began building his terrorist organization and amassing more and more espers. until his wife leaves, and then things...shift.

i think his goals change from something he Can do to something he Has to do. the moment his wife leaves is the moment he has that major failure, like sweeney did. i fully believe toichiro, prior to that moment, believed he could have some semblance of a family left waiting in the wings as he took over the world. after all, he's all-powerful. why wouldn't they want to stick around? but his ex wife leaving proves that power isn't everything, and now power is all he has. so now he Must use that power to its absolute extent otherwise he has to admit to himself that he fucked up severely. it's the same moment sweeney has of understanding there is no returning, there is only forward from now on.

and this framework is especially interesting to me because of how they differentiate. sweeney never backs down from his final goal shift; he leans more and more into this crazed idea until everything has fallen to pieces around him, and then he is promptly killed. he only understands the true scope of what happened right at his final moments. but toichiro survives the explosion. toichiro is able to see the error in his ways and he Lives. which means we get to see his goals shift once more to something far more personal and far more kind: to change. to seek connections. to become something he never was. and there is still this recognition that he can never return to what he was before all of this (recognition that not only he experiences, but shou as well), but now that recognition doesn't come with bitterness. it's simply...an acknowledgement. there would've never been a way for sweeney todd to have this moment bc his story is not built for that kind of lesson. it isn't meant to tell that kind of tale. but i think the framework of his story is a rlly cool analysis tool for someone like toichiro, who is so similar yet so vastly different

What I love about them: literally just a guy. just a normal farmer boy in his farmer adoptive family in his farmer village. he is way out of his depth when he gets shoved into the predicament he's in, with no idea of how hero stuff works, and then really only cares about saving the village kids at first. everyone's like "for the sake of hyrule" and whatever but he's just a family man. does all the shit he does just to keep them safe. it's only as he meets more people along the way that he understands what his importance as the hero is. it's very nice

What I hate about them: honestly, in the game and LU, i find him kind of boring. he doesn't emote much, he doesn't Show much outside of caring about the kids, etc. in LU he is just kind of like Time Jr. and his entire identity is just being related to Time and also secretly being a wolf. not really a captivating guy

Miguel and bishop have gotten nowhere, no leads nothing, at this point they would take a guess at Alvarez’s location. Nestor watched them go back and forth and coming up with nothing since he was taken. They all knew the longer it takes to find him the worse the out come would get. He’s never heard you speak so softly, almost as is you were afraid of anyone hearing you say the words. You made your dislike for the cartel very known when he got approached with it. At his silence you had your answer.

“You know how I feel about them!”

“I know but it’s worth it.”

“No, you decided it was worth more than me.”

At this point packing has been forgotten and the energy in the room had shifted. Staring into your watering eyes he tried to get closer to comfort you, stoping in his steps when you shook your head. You’ve never turned down his touch before no matter what war you were fighting you always came to him. He didn’t know how to handle it when you didn’t.

“I thought we already started our lives together, I guess I was wrong.”

Those were the last words you spoke to him and he still hears them clear as day.

“You know Y/n?”

Miguel asked looking to his bodyguard.

“We were in the marines together.” Was his vague explanation.

“Can she help us find Alvarez, Nestor?”

At his nod Miguel told him to call you.

“She will help, but not if it comes from me.”

Looks like bishop is the one that has to tell you after all.

You dropped everything when bishop called you figured it was about Alvarez since he hasn’t been home for a few days. Walking up the steps leading to a large house Angel brings you up to the office where bishop is.

Taking a look around the room only recognizing the MC, until you look at the man standing behind the desk. His hair is much longer and tied back into braids but you’d know him anywhere, Nestor. Not giving him a second glance you looked to the el presidente. “Why am I here bishop.”

Looking between the two ex marines feeling the tension between them, Nestor didn’t give up any information but anyone with eyes could see there was something between you two. With a sigh he started to explain everything with Alvarez.

“You got a phone I can use Pablo Escobar?”

Miguel quickly held out a phone when he noticed you were referring to him. Dialing the number you reached across the desk grabbing his computer too and sitting at the table with the Mayans and as far away from Nestor as possible.

“All knowing oracle at your service”

“Hey Garcia, it’s Y/n.” She gasp over the line squealing.

“Y/n! Are you finally calling to tell me how your date with Ried?” Nestor knew you probably dated after him but he wasn’t ready to hear it. You smiled internally when he tensed, wanting to make him hurt just a bit at picking a job over you.

“Later I promise but I need help tracking someone down.”

“Oh I don’t think I’m allowed to do that Y/n I’m sorry.”

“It’s Alvarez.”

After you’re declaration the line is silent, until she sighs and asked for more information to start looking at. You met Garcia at a PTSD meeting. Alvarez thought it would help you, she was there after she got shot. Thankfully you stayed in touch it never hurts having friends in the FBI. telling you she will call you back when she has something you look to bishop and ask him to drive you home so you can pick up your gear. You snapped when Miguel offers to have one of his men pick it up.

“You and your men better not even think of coming close to me or my gear!”

It’s an hour after you stormed out that Garcia calls and tells you where Alvarez is being held and you quickly text Bishop and tell him to meet you a mile away.

Rolling your eyes as you see Nestor and Miguel there as well. Your rifle strung across your back. “Here’s the plan I pick off the guards outside and everyone else waits till I give the go ahead to go inside, copy?”

When everyone agrees you look to the Mayans new prospect. “Come on I need a spotter.”

“I’ll do it.”

You were hoping you wouldn’t have to speak to him but of course he just has to say something. “No!”

“Actually I would be more comfortable having one of my men up there just to be sure you don’t shoot me in the back.” Miguel stated as if you’d care.

“I’m not a coward I’d shoot you in the face if anything. Come on prospect.” Just as you were about to storm off bishop pulled you back nodding to Nestor. Groaning you wave your hand motioning for him to follow you up the hill while the others got in their position.

“I didn’t know you were in town.”

If he thinks you’re going to talk to him he must’ve forgotten who you were.

“Are you not going to talk to me?”

“Are you not going to talk to me princesa?”

Nestor had his arms wrapped around you from behind leaving soft kisses on your neck knowing he was on your bad side. Giving him a huff and turning your head away. One of his hands disappeared from your waist as he sets a bag of gummy worms in front of you. Giving him a smile before diving for the sour treat, moving to straddle his lap the bag held between you both. “You’re forgiven.” You winked. What’s a stolen candy when he’s already stolen your heart.

“Y/n, Y/n!”

“What!” You growled, spinning to face him. With everything else that’s changed about him his eyes are still the same.

“You know I never meant to hurt you.”

“The only reason I’m here is for Alvarez, don’t forget that.” You sighed turning back around to finish the hike to the sniper perch.

Quietly setting down your bag you throw the range finder binoculars knowing he would catch them. The peak of the hill gives a great view of the warehouse. Nestor laying down next you, rattling off windage and distance, while you screw on the silencer is when Nestor speaks up again.

“Just like old times right.”

“If it’s not about the mission dont talk.”

Clicking the safety off you count six guards. Taking a deep breath and lowering your heartrate for a better shot you pick off the two in the back the four left none the wiser.

Finishing off the guards you switch to the thermal scope and call bishop. “Five inside two on the west side, two east and one in the middle possibly Alvarez. Move in.”

Watching the Mayans and the Cartel storm the building while you scan the perimeter for any surprises. Nestor answering your phone when it rings and putting it on speaker. “We got him he’s okay, we will meet you both back at Miguel’s.”

Packing up your rifle and extra gear before making the trek back not waiting for your Mexican shadow, who quickly catches up.

“Are you going to tell me how you know Alvarez or should I just ask him?”

Nestor asked once he started driving back, you huff and continued looking out the window.

“He’s Miguel’s new advisor he’ll tell me if I ask.”

“He won’t tell you anything and you shouldn’t ask it’s not your place.”

“Anymore” He mumbled, glaring at him from the corner of your eye. “What?”

“You mean it’s not my place anymore.”

“Yeah Nestor that’s what I mean.” You sighed, running a hair through your hair. Nestor was always the one you told everything to no matter how bad it felt weird not telling him almost.

“After you left I stayed in the marines and got deployed, got a new spotter. We were practically twins, at least that’s what everybody called us. After a few months the bad guys caught on that we had snipers and set IEDs where they thought we would go. One day when we went out. He bet that he could get to the perch before me, he won.”

Nestor was quiet, your shaky breathing being the only noice beside the low radio in the background. “He accidentally hit a tripwire....the blast was big enough to throw me out a window, that was my last deployment and Alvarez served with my sergeant so when I got out he introduced us He has helped me work through some stuff since then he’s been a father figure for me. Does that answer your question?”

Nestor knew you didn’t want him to say he was sorry you’ve always hated when people said that but before he could say anything he pulled up to the house and you jumped out of the car. “Al!” You yelled almost knocking the doctor over that was looking at his wounds. His chuckle rumbling through your body at how tightly you hugged him. Pulling back he grabs a leaf out of your hair. “I see you were apart of my rescue mission.”

“She was the one that found you.” Nestor said from his spot at the doorway silently watching your interaction, that was the first time he’s seen you smile in years. Alvarez raised his eyebrows looking between you and Nestor knowing the history between you both, rolling your eyes showing your displeasure. “I even worked with him for you so try not to get taken again because I’m not doing that again.” You whispered, taking a seat next to him while the doctor continued. “You know I don’t think you’ve gotten closure between you two.”

“So?”

“So, you should talk to him.” He suggested with that knowing look all fathers seem to have. And you know he’s right. Walking over to Nestor stopping once your shoulder to shoulder next to each other. “Coffee, tomorrow morning don’t be late.” Were your parting words as you walked out the door not seeing Nestors gaze following you nor hear him whisper.

“I won’t princesa.”

Character analisys: Christopher Lightwood

(Tlh rant part 2)

This is the result of a failed harry potter au and a hell of a lot of overthinking

So Christopher, althought being one of the mains in the last hour and a well beloved character, doesnt get talked about enough. Neither in the books nor the fandom. His character is more often than not reduced to hes affanity for inventions, and blowing things up. As funny and lightehearted as it is, I just wish we could see him potrayed a little more well rounded. His role as a secondary character althought splendid, ( just with the few interactions we got with him I love him) was mostly, superficial through Chain of Gold. I feel as if we've never had a chance to ,in published material, get down and real with Christophers character.

A fact I'm sure we'll be resolved in later books, but it still pains me a bit when I think about it. I keep refering to his short story back in July last year and he has such a beautiful perspective of the world, such a different narrative from the ones were used to in this world of tsc . Its facinating, and it leaves much scope for the imagination so I overanalized, a bit

Christophers greatest desire in this world is to know. He wants to understand, he wants to make sense of the world that is around him. If he doesnt understand, he'll find an imperical way to make himself understand. Thats hes greatest desire, thats hes greatest need. He wants to understand the world so he can fix it. Because there is so much wrong, so much he feels could be fixed if only people were willing to learn. In his eyes if he understands the world, he can fix the world. Because no one else is willing to even consider outside they're normal methods, it falls on him. It falls on him to make new methods, be the change he wants to see

If Christophers greatest desire is to know, then his greatest fear is the uknown. The things he cant explain, the things that he'll never understand. He fears being useless, being unknowable. He relies on fact, in a way, because facts give him the hope he needs to keep on investigating. He has a hard time grasping what he doesnt understand, to the point he rejects the idea nothing can be done and tries to find imperical solutions to problems that dont have explanations (example when Jesse dies he thinks "This is all wrong. If we had met him, we might have been able to help him. To save him)

He hates not being able to know, thats why science is his armor. When the quarantine started in Chog, the first thing he did was try to make a cure. It was a fact a cure could me made, so he was set ln finding it. Because the demons in the daylight, the sickness, THAT didnt make sense. Finding a cure did, hes way to cope with problems is to focus on what he can do, the thing that makes sense in the middle of chaos. Because thats what he does, because thats what he can do. He wants so hard to understand every aspect in his life that I feel the idea that there are things he will never understand, that he can never make sense of, never fix, would terrify him

Now that we've covered all of this I have a theory, its a pretty wild one but if it were to be true it would be such an interesting concept

Christopher Lightwood, is afraid of death

Here me out! We've already established that if hes greatest desire is to know, then hes greatest fear is the uknown, that of which he cannot understand. What is the biggest what if on this earth than death?

Its exactly everything Christopher hates, its unknown, unexplored and relies solely on interpratation. Hes not afraid to die, as in the act of his life ending. Hes afraid of the concept of what comes after, afraid of all the what ifs that come with death. It would make sense considering the way he reacted to Jesses death (see above) and it would make for such an interesting concept considering that

A. He comes from a race of people who willingly accept death as just another part of life, that regard death as a privlege and tends to die young ("We are dust and shadows" )

B. Considering Christopher was almost at death doors in Chog

We've heard the narrative of so many heroes, unafraid of death. That sometimes seeked it out against the fight of they're group. But we've never heard the tale of one who fears it. With just as much valor and courage, but fearful of the unexplored territory that is death

It would be such a cool concept if this were explored through Christopher, as I believe he is the perfect character to have this fear. CC already said he would behave unexpectedly in the shadow market, maybe this can be signs of how hes dealing with facing one of hes fears the last book?

So many options to explore through kits perspective, and his desire to understand. I just hope we get to see it

hey so I agree with a lot of the stuff in your post about the transphobia involved in the origin of the pansexual label, but I just have one question: what are the actual impacts of people with good intentions calling themselves pan? If you don't hate pansexuals and consider them bi, why type up a paragraphs long manifesto on the harms of the origin of the label if it means the same thing in the way that most non transphobic people (your audience) use it? a lot of identities can be used in transphobic ways (like bi and lesbian and anything really) and plenty of valid identities from problematic roots and evolve over time as people use them differently (queer, transsexual). so how is a person with good intentions using a not-perfect label in a way you don't like a threat to the community? if someone is using the label pan transphobically, wouldn't their bigotry exist independently? if pan people do not act in transphobic ways besides using the label pansexual, realistically what is changing if they call themselves bi beyond holier-than-thou aesthetic activism? plus, a blog on the internet isn't going to get everyone to stop identifying as pansexual, especially considering multiple prominent celebrities ID as pan. so why spend all that energy quibbling on semantics because some bi people use a slightly different word when you could be worrying about Literally anything else? just feels like you want to find something to argue about lol. extremely disappointed that I had to break a mutual

im going to respond to each thing you bring up chronologically- im not trying to nitpick or prioritize certain things you say ill just forget things if i go out of order and i dont want to miss something important. ALSO! i will be typing less formally (like keysmashes and shortening words n stuff) in this response than my og post bc its 1am as im starting to type this so im tired but i want to be clear that i am like. taking this seriously and im not like. mocking u in anyway if it could read that way?? i hope not but just in case anyways here it goes!

in terms of actual impact people with good intentions identifying as pan: honestly im not  sure the full scope of the impact this has, so ill only be speaking to what ive personally seen which might not be all. but like... id argue my younger self has good intentionals iding as pan. i wanted to support trans people, even if i didnt understand a lot of the nuance involved. as a result of this, i developed a sense of superiority over other bisexuals and a mentality that bisexuality was a primitive and lesser sexuality. that mentality is harmful, and although im not sure if it affected bisexuals around me (of which there are many most of my friends are bi ajfjfjf) its still a harmful mentality and can easily hurt people even if i specifically didnt. also using it even with good intentions, which i know many people have, still spreads and further normalizes a label that imo can not be separated from its transphobic origins. this effect is not as extreme as other forms of transphobia and biphobia by A LONG SHOT. the bi community faces a lot of other issues but that doesnt mean this one isnt worth addressing if that makes sense?

if i dont hate pansexuals: ik this is part of a larger point which i will adress but i specified this in my post bc i see a lot of other posts that are negative towards pansexuality have "i hate pan ppl" somewhere in it or a close equivalent. i do not shame these ppl for their anger, i just wanted to be clear i think a lot of pan ppl are bi ppl with good intentions choosing a label they dont fully understand based on a misunderstanding of bisexuality.

basically i think iding with a transphobic label is inherently a singular transphobic action that doesnt make the person transphobic by itself, but is still a transphobic instance.

a lot of identities can be used in transphobic ways like bi, lesbian, etc.: this is true and a point i attempted to make on my original post, but i might not have clear enough. my issue with pan is specifically that it is a transphobic response to a preexisting identity. lesbian isnt an attempted trans inclusive indentity that replaced an identity that already existed (which have many trans ppl identifying with the og label). transphobes can use whatever labels they want, but transphobes using a label vs a label having a transphobic origin is very different. bigots use inclusive and supporting language for their bigotry all the time but language that originated with that bigotry is worse.

many valid identities stem from problemstic origins (like transsexual and queer) but the words evolve: ok my paraphrasing is a little weird there. anyways. the thing here is that. those are slurs. reclaimed slurs that can be empowering to many people, yes, but slurs nonetheless. reclaiming a slur is taking a harmful word and wearing it as a badge of pride. first off, pansexual is not a slur (ur not implying that in anyway just. saying) and it isnt being reclaimed when people dont treat it as having harmful origins. transsexual is the way some people identify but ppl acknowlege its a slur and originates from transphobia. ppl love to act like queer isnt a slur, which is an issue in and of itself, but just. factually it has historically and is currently being used against ppl with the intent to hurt them. pansexual isnt on the same level as these and other words like the f slur, d slur, etc. pansexual originates from trans and biphobia WITHIN the community and not outside of it, and most pansexuals dont see themselves as reclaiming the title because they dont think anythings wrong with it in the first place. and reclaiming it just seems unnecessary considering its history? theres no empowerment from using pan as a label as opposed to queer or transsexual, and it just divides the bisexual community for no reason.

how is a person using a not-perfect label a threat to the community? ok i dont think its a threat but still an issue if that difference makes sense? id like to reiterate a few things ive said before, but for me personally, it made me look down on bisexuals and see them as lesser, and it made people around me see pan as the "trans inclusive" sexuality as opposed to bisexuality, and basically its usage just leads to further biphobia. is this the worst of biphobia? no!!! but its still biphobia and why not attempt to target and minimize that? i have no way to singlehandedly stop biphobia, but my post might get through to my friends who id as pan and that small thing is better than nothing.

if someone used the pan label in a transphobic way, wouldnt that bigotry be different from people using it not transphobically?: someone claiming all bi ppl are transphobic and only pan is the acceptable label is obviously a lot worse than someone iding as pan and saying bi/pan solidarity but again, the second isnt not an issue because the first one is a bigger issue, its just a smaller issue in comparison. i wouldnt say the bigotry is different, one is just worse than the other, but it still has the same problems.

if pan people dont do anything transphobic other than id as pan then what changes with iding as bi over pan other holier-than-thou activism: its just one less person using a transphobic label? which isnt that big but it might lead to their friends stopping iding as pan and cause fewer people around them to see bi as a transphobic identity. which is small scale stuff, i wont try to blow it out of proportion, but thats still a step in the right direction and hopefully more people follow with it. its not terribly huge or lifechanging but something small that may only affect the people close to you is still something rather than nothing.

a blog the internet isnt going to get people to stop iding as pan: oh absolutely not. honestly i expected to get unfollowed/blocked more than change peoples minds regarding the pan label (im surprised i only lost two followers so far honestly) but again, someone literally asked me to do this and i wanted to be clear on my stance on the label, since in the past ive been supportive of it. im not expecting the post to get more than five likes, its more directed to my followers rather than the internet as a whole. im not expecting a large impact, im hoping to change the minds of my followers and friends who id as and support the pan label. thats it. if something bigger comes from it- great! but thats not what im aiming to do.

prev point + many prominent celebrities id as pan: the first name that comes to mind is someone im not a fan of for separate reasons but thats irrelevant. i mean im repeating myself a bit but some celebrities in the past validated and made me feel excited abt my identity as a pan person when they came out, and it justified the label to me, even when i had doubts. i have never interacted with a celebrity and do not plan to change their minds abt their identity. again, my post was for my friends and followers and maybe who ever was scrolling through the biphobia tag and decided to read my post.

why spend that much energy worrying abt the pan label instead of something else: ive spent waaaaay more energy thinking abt a singular meme i didnt like regarding my favourite rwby character so like. maybe i just overreact to things lol. maybe i have a lot of energy and since i cant talk my friends ears off abt my favourite fruits or the different voting methods i learned in my math class or what would dreams taste like, then i gotta put my energy into something. idk. i have a lot of energy and honestly? this didnt take that much. but i felt it weighing on me as my friends talked positively abt the pan label, when i felt guilty for the superiority i felt over my bi friends INCLUDING my best friend and favourite person in the world so like. i spent enough energy worrying abt it, and like. in hindsight since its been over 12 hours since posting it, im thinking abt it less. i was more worried abt feeling dishonest with my friends than actually worrying abt pansexuality, but i figured i owed them an explanation for why my feelings around it had changed.

just feels like you want to find something to argue about: okay i DO love arguing but im not pulling this out of my ass for fun. its in response to posts ive seen on my dash, asks i recieved abt pansexuality, and my way of letting people know my views have changed and why since i know at least some people are curious.

The Shie Hassaikai just had found a perfect bussines man to lead their bussines even outside the Japan, Kyoto Hirotaka... A splendid doctor and the owner of a huge company in the pacific, he wasn't much older than Chisaki but just like the yakusa leader, he was considered a genius.

The problem is... he didn't saw the point on accepting this offer, and already admited that he wouldn't trust someone from the yakusa, especially this one for some reason...

Chrono had to hold back Mimic from spaking their guest right there. Chisaki's orders.

Even if he wanted to overhaul the guy on the spot as well.

"I may understand your point of view; but perhaps you having thought about it really carefully on my offer. You will be retribuit and have status not only outside but in the underground as well."

"Tsk. My days on the underground ended a long time ago Overhaul. I don't see any points on doing a partnership with the Shie Hassaikai." He lift himself along with Chisaki. Both glaring at each other.

"I will give you one more chance. Maybe you just need to put that supposed smart brain of yours to work." Hitoraka went to say a commeback, but the four mens on the room heard a faint groan coming from outside.

Chisaki immediately recognized and excuse himself for a moment before oppening the door and founding you walking on the halls with your hand on the wall to stabilize yourself on your feet.

"Angel I told you to rest." His tone of voice was rude and cold, but his actions of going straight to your form and give you a shoulder to lean on while he grabbed softly on yiur hand while the other went to the small of your back told you what he really felt.

"Sorry, pregnancy craves." You smiled up in embarrassment while he frowned.

"Does your calf and back still hurt?"

"Just a little." He glared at you "Okay. It hasn't gotten any better... but I guess it's normal."

"I don't think so..." he mumbled.

Both of you were interrupted when Kyoto standed in front and looked at you with really much softer eyes than he was before when he was having a conversation with Kai.

"Overhaul. You didn't mention it you were married... and are going to have a child apparently."

"It wasn't necessary for you to know." He said firmly, not liking one bit the way this man looked at you.

Suddenly, Hirotaka bowed at you, ignoring the comment made by the yakusa boss. Shocking you and Chisaki.

"Apologies (Y/N)." He returned his gaze at you, standing up "I'm Kyoto Hirotaka. Ten years ago you helped my mother when she was sick and we needed money to at least buy some food... I still own my eternal gratitude to you miss."

You winced before answering the young man.

"It was nothing really. You don't own me anything." You try to smiled but the pain was getting even more intense.

"Angel. Enough." Chisaki scoped you up and started to walk in the directions of your room.

"My ice cream..." you miserably whined while he mumbled 'shut it someone will bring it to you later.'

After leaving you in bed and exiting his room he was face to face with the young man, whose stoic face returned.

"Overhaul. As I say back there, I don't trust anyone on this place, especially you." Chisaki arched an eyebrow.

"But it makes things different if (Y/N) is on here. Me and my family owms her a lot for what she had done... I will accepted the partenership and even offer my services to your subordinates and everyonewho has a bond with the Shie Hassaikai that you authorized, but only to repay my gratitude to her..." He extend his hand.

Chisaki simply stared and nodded.

"No touching. But I agree on your terms. It's a deal."

He needed to keep an eye open on this guy, but his services were way too go to lose and decline...

anyway his parents look like Criminals and it makes him laugh tbh bc they are really sweet, if totally also criminals. his dad has a scar cutting from his eyebrow to his cheekbone, everyone assumes it from a knife fight. it's from a cat. His mum is a high femme boss lady style femme fatale, and she rocks it. However, she's secretly a total tomboy who just likes looking fancy

also hizashi was like,,, very gay growing up. the stereotypical gay kid, and his parents thought he was just the sweetest thing tbh

his mum did his nails all glittery, his dad took him to gymnastics

anyway: so he and his parents have an,,, interesting sense of morality

they don't like killing people bc it's lazy, messy and pretty rude, but they will in some scenarios, ie: they tried to kill you for no good reason, they backstabbed you for no good reason, they did something horrific too you etc

hizashi doesn't view killing as the worst thing someone can do, but he does see it as a total last resort. in the family, betrayal is worse than murder, same w the whole yakuza family

so hizashi has great parents

shouta - shouta is not so lucky

his mum doesn't really,,, care much for him. his stepfather is a b a s t a r d. does terrible things we ain't getting into, calls shouta a fag, useless, "basically quirkless", etc. his mum just tells him to stop "making his father angry"

after the sports festival when shouta kicks hizashi's actual ass hes totally prepared to be hated, he's expecting it honestly.

but hizashi looks at him with wide eyes and mutters "so,,,, cool,,," and he feels himself blush like a tomato. moving into 1A after the festival hizashi basically forces him to become his friend. shouta has 0 say in the matter

the only people brave enough to really befriend him rather than just being chill w him were nemuri and tensei

nemuri bc shes gives no fucks ab any yakuza bitch, tensei because he has some faith in the background check system to not let a violent bastard in

now shouta has no clue hizashi is in the yakuza

everyone else in 1A knows they try and like,, warn him. subtly. but he doesn't get it at all and actually thinks they mean hizashi is bitter ab the festival

so shouta 'lets' himself be befriended all the while expecting that some time hizashi, nemuri and tensei are going to beat the crap out of him when hes not expecting it

hizashi and co. are fucking around at lunch, eating outside and messing around

nemuri says one of her normal pretty explicit jokes to shouta and shouta panics

he can't handle it, shuts down, has a silent panic attack that freaks them all the fuck out because he's not breathing, he's just shaking and crying silently and nemuri, obviously, feels like shit and shes panicking a lil ab what to do

tensei is trying to calm shouta down and failing bc shouta is panicking so hard he can't even fucking hear him

hizashi is really regretting his brains because he's just made some really horrific connections

the bell rings, hizashi tells nemuri and tensei to go back to class and just sits there and holds shouta's hand until he calms down

poor guy is dissociating like fuck too

so hizashi considers going back to class

he really does

but then he thinks "nope, fuck it" and he sits with shouta outside until the bell rings to go home

shouta starts to feel a little,,, better? more aware? idk, but he apologises and tries to say nothing was wrong and he just overreacted

hizashi just looks at him

"look, I'm not gonna make you tell me. but that wasn't nothing. I'm not that stupid."

shouta tries to defend himself but just gives up bc it's not like hizashi is wrong. nemuri and tensei bring their bags down, explain their teachers weren't that mad (nezu totally saw that happening on the cameras and told the teachers that they might not be coming back to class)

nezu is a good man also ive decided hes immortal and principal always

hizashi would totally put a hit out on shouta’s parents but he's stony silent ab his homelife, they don't even know if he has parents and asking seems rude bc they've known the guy like a month

now hizashi's parents

have no such moral qualms

and they get people to scope out shouta's house. wiretaps, bugs, stake outs, the works. bc hizashi told them that his friend had the mother of all panic attacks when nemuri made a dirty joke about a daddy kink and that is a warning sign if ever there was one

it literally takes a day for the stakeout team to report back, and they are fucking fuming. they heard aizawa's stepdad spew some nasty shit then make his son sleep outside

(this au shouta adores cats bc the strays stay with him when he's locked out, which is pretty often. he doesn't mind being locked out because it's better than the alternative)

he totally had a crush on shouta before the sports festival from when they were in the same entrance exam and shouta saved his ass from a robot. He was heartbroken that shouta didn’t make it into the hero course

Some expanded thoughts on FF7R under the cut [SPOILERS]

So! Overall I freaking LOVED the remake and I can’t wait to see the rest! Midgar feels so alive and expanded, you really feel attached to everyone, it’s... muah! Honestly a lot of the points I’m gonna make are more nitpicks than anything. I won’t make any commentary on the gameplay because I watched a let’s play instead of playing by myself(im broke and cant afford a PS4 and $60 game >_>)

So the designs are GORGEOUS... no, the entire GAME is gorgeous. Midgar looks so good and detailed, there’s so much great implementation of color theory! Cloud is sooooo good looking!!! Barret and Aerith and Sephiroth are all GORGEOUS! Reno Rude Tseng and Rufus.. AAAA!!! The only slight complain I have is that- okay so Tifa looks AWESOME, but I honestly wish she wasn’t so skinny. Like she’s a melee fighter, but her waist and arms are so thin! I wish they gave her a bit more tone and muscle, but, oh well. I honestly can’t stop staring at the character models they look SO good

Plot-wise, I really like most of the changes/additions they made! Especially with Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie. They’re wonderful and I love them and did I mention that I love them because they’re just so dorky!!! And good!!!

Honestly, I like that Aerith is actually written to be likeable. I know that doesn’t seem like much but a lot of games fall into the trap of telling you that you’re supposed to like the female protag(looking at you, Breath of the Wild) or tell you that she’s a strong character, but they fail to show that, so the player feels like they’re just being told to get attached. Aerith, though, is actually really likeable in this game!!! She’s cute and down-to-earth, really dorky and even snarky, easily seeing past Cloud’s tough-guy act, and she can fight! It’s just so nice to see a game that shows a strong female protag instead of just telling you.

Legit everyone is horny for Cloud and I’m so here for it

Okay so like. I love Roche. I didn’t at first but he quickly grew on me. He’s so awfully chaotic and I just- I love him. I’m mad that he was just kinda forgotten, though. Like! He could’ve shown up at the ending chase!!!

THEY REALLY WROTE HOJO TO BE AS CREEPY AS POSSIBLE HUH. Like I’m not complaining because like he’s basically the reason why everything happened, but! Ahhhh he makes me squirm he’s a creep with a gross science fetish and I wanna stab himmmmm

Okay so. President Shinra is a little bit TOO stereotypically evil? Like having a gold statue of himself and not even caring about sabotaging one of his own reactors when one little console gets destroyed??? Like it’s almost comical how evil he’s written to be. Though, I do like the scene where he calls Barret out on his ideals, that was neat!

Nowww, Heidegger Scarlet Palmer and Reeve? MUAH. Heidegger and Scarlet are written so sadistically but like in such a likeable way, especially Heidegger. God I hate them both but you just love to hate them!!! Palmer is HILARIOUS- I love how he’s written to be the spoiled kid whose parents forced the other kids to include him so he’s just there even though he doesn’t do anything. And Reeve? Well...

SO REEVE IS MY FAVORITE ATM SINCE WE DON’T HAVE VINCENT YET, AND REEVE IS JUST... <3 <3 <3 Okay so first off, his design is perfect. He doesn’t really stand out in the same way that Heidegger Scarlet and Palmer do. He just has a normal build, normal suit, normal hair slicked back- he just looks like a normal employee, totally inconspicuous... which is very fitting considering how he ends up being undercover and needs to look inconspicuous ;)

Though Reeve shows clear signs of overworking himself and being emotionally abused by his coworkers which... sucks. I mean it’s good writing but I feel so awful for him- Like you know it’s bad when someone just has to hold up a hand to get you to shut up and sit down. I like that he tries to do good things but steps down when he’s told to, that he’s empathetic but cowardly. It does a great job at setting up his character arc in future chapters <3

Okay so one thing- I thought the build-up for the plate dropping was amazing, but honestly... the plate itself falling was slightly underwhelming, to be completely honest. Like- I just didn’t feel the impact that a plate falling would have! Mainly because, you don’t see a single death which is interesting. Like you see people running from falling debris, but legit not a single death is implied. Honestly? I thought the scene would have been far more impactful if they showed:

Seventh Heaven actually being destroyed

The people topside reacting to the ground beneath them collapsing and them falling to their deaths(They only tried to evacuate Sector 7 slums! Not the topside!!!)

More people actually being implied to have been crushed(No, Im not counting Wedge). Like in the original FF7 there’s a scene where someone’s watching tv and you see the plate falling from outside the window- and there’s a reporter just doing his normal shit before he suddenly looks up and things go to static- like- thats an intense scene and I wish the remake did more stuff like that!

They do great showing people REACTING to the plate falling which is why its so appalling to me that they dont show much of the actual devastation DURING plate fall

I LOVE that Cait Sith shows up at the plate falling! It shows that Reeve actually tried to warn people(something he asked to do and was denied earlier), even if he was too late. The only problem I have is that new players who dont know who Cait Sith is will be horribly confused as to who and why he’s there???

Also, when the crew goes back to Sector 7, you don’t really... feel the impact right away. Keep in mind, an entire section of city just fell onto another section of city WITH the supports holding it up, there should have been way more rubble. Yet, the area where Seventh Heaven is just... looks like it was hit with a major earthquake. There should be way more rubble, like mountains of it. It’s weird since the opening cinematic really captures the scope of how huge Midgar is, but the plate falling just doesn’t really show the scope of how much devastation there was to losing an entire plate.

The scope of it is done a bit better when climbing up Sector 7, but I still feel like the weight and scope of destruction isn’t lived up to its full potential.

Okay so- Wedge and Biggs. ... Yeah, it takes away from the impact of their deaths to have them not die. I mean, I can’t make a total opinion on this just yet, because the other parts haven’t come out yet, but... if FF7R is gonna keep them alive, they better have a good reason for it tbh.

They might have done a little bit too much foreshadowing with Cloud and Aerith? Like I like Cloud having memory issues, it’s kept pretty vague... but him going “Mother?” with Jenova is a little bit too spoiler-y. Like yeah you gotta tease his whole thing but like- don’t give it away this soon!!!

I also don’t mind Seph showing up as much as he does. Like, in the original, you don’t even hear about him until close to the end of the Midgar arc. Obvi since the remake ONLY covers the Midgar arc so far, I totally understand bringing him in sooner. Again, having the clones existing might be a little too spoilery for the big twists later on, but I can let it slide since it’s still treated as very “wtf” and I’m sure anyone new to the story hasn’t put it together yet.

Did I mention how much I love Seph he’s so creepy and his eyes are gorgeous and he’s so intimidating by just being there

And the Whispers... I honestly didn’t like them. I kept forgetting that they existed honestly. They just feel so... detached from the plot. I don’t mind adding new content/story, but the Whispers just... didn’t feel well-implemented. They also felt really campy towards the end. Like, the fact that they could un-stab Barret and shield Avalanche from car accidents while they were escaping? They were legit like “no you can’t die even if you tried because fate” and takes away any tension of the scene because... well, they know they cant die.

That being said, the ending was interesting. I uh. It was interesting! So they actually defeat fate itself in order to change... who knows what. The future, maybe even the past??? I’ve got many thoughts on this

If the future is changed, that can be exciting since people who know the original’s plot won’t know what’s gonna happen next so like- okay!

If the past was changed... y’all know I’m talking about Zack. Was fate changed so that he could live? Keep in mind, we see Whispers surrounding Midgar before they dissipate and Zack’s like “ohey did I get all of em?”, implying that fate would have forbade Zack from ever getting to Midgar. Having the team defeat fate means... Zack may have now reached Midgar. 

Is alternate reality/timeline stuff going to happen now???

Cloud’s character revolves around Zack dying. What’ll happen to Cloud now???

I feel so bad for people new to the plot who don’t know who Zack is.

Nomura... you madman.

So with the ending... Nomura and Squenix is setting something up. They’re going for something huge. I uh. I fear, honestly! Because this could very likely get WAY too ambitious and WAY too confusing(Think Dream Drop Distance’s bullshit plot), and could totally fall on its face and end up being Squenix’s biggest flop of all time. But... if this succeeds and they actually pull off whatever they’re trying to pull... holy shit. I would be floored.

I honestly am a bit afraid that the plot will be too confusing for new players. Like- no one would know whats going on with Zack unless they knew the original plot, so like while this would be a great game for FF7 fans, I’m really worried that it won’t be a good game for people new to the series.

Cloud in a dress is the greatest thing and I’m so happy they kept that scene I love him so much the entire scene is so queer <3

But overall, despite some nitpicks, it was a SUPER SOLID game and I’m soooo hype to see where they go with it! I wanna see Cait and Yuffie and Cid and Vincent!!!!!!!!!

You're called Future Smash memes-- can you see into the future of my universe? We just had 6 more character slots announced for our game, meaning there are 6 we dont know who they'll be! Do you have any insight? Or at least a prediction o'wise one?

Hmm. You know, I’ve been told that your timeline is the “main” one, and therefore is very tricky to predict and deal with. It may not be much, but I guess I’ll give my two cents on who I think the final six DLC slots for this timeline will be.

First of all, it’s important to remember that these choices were made by Nintendo, not Sakurai. I think that’s the reason why we got Sans and Cuphead miis in this timeline rather than full on fighters: for one reason or another, Nintendo didn’t want them (or at least, didn’t want them as much as the chosen fighters). Sakurai has said that he’s an avid fan of Undertale and Cuphead, so this makes sense. Then again, he’s also an avid Persona fan and I still don’t get why Nintendo would’ve chosen it of all franchises. Don’t get me wrong, Persona looks great and all (never played it myself), but it’s not very…Nintendo, y’know?

With that in mind, I think it’s safe to say that we won’t be getting an indie rep. Nintendo currently doesn’t seem to be very open to the idea of full on indie reps, so that means that characters like Hat Kid probably won’t get in (maybe as a mii costume, though aHiT isn’t as well known for its music as undertale and cuphead are, so I don’t think it would be a deluxe costume). Really, the only indie reps I see getting in are either Reimu or (as much as I hate to say it) Steve. Touhou is the poster child for popular indie projects, even if it isn’t as big over here as it is in Japan. ZUN is also open to the idea of Reimu in smash. The main things that go against Reimu is the fact that she isn’t very well known outside of Japan (and those who do know her often associate her with loli culture, which might be a problem) and because the way the franchise is set up, legalities with Touhou would either be really easy or really, really hard. Steve, on the other hand, has sort of transcended being an indie character. Minecraft recently overtook Tetris as the best selling game of all time, and has become a household name around the world. Maybe I’m just projecting (I’m probably the only person from my generation that doesn’t like Minecraft), but I don’t think Steve is getting in either. First of all, legality with Microsoft would probably be an issue as they would certainly demand more money for Steve than Banjo, who, while a treasured character worthy of his spot, comes from a dead IP who wasn’t had a new game since 2008. Also, similar to former best seller Tetris, I just don’t think that Minecraft’s blocky, pixelated art style and rigid player animations would be a good fit for smash. Again, totally me projecting, but that’s just what I think. I do expect to get Steve over mii swordfighter, though. That makes sense.

Now with my little indie rant out of the way, I’ll do a bullet-point list for characters that I’ve posted memes about on the blog before and what I think of their chances of getting in:

First of all, I think it’s obvious that Raz isn’t going to be one of the DLC characters. Yes, Psychonauts 2 is coming out later this year and the first game is one of my favorite video games of all time and he would fit in perfectly, but let’s be real. The franchise is a cult classic that has never been released on a Nintendo system in any way and probably sold horribly in Japan. Double Fine was also recently bought out by Microsoft which really killed any small chance he had of making it in. Sir Daniel is in a similar position

First/second party characters like Bandana Dee and Impa I think are deconfirmed because most of them are represented by Spirits, and I don’t think that they would “double dip.” And because of the scope of spirits mode, I think it’s unlikely that we’ll get any older characters from prexisting franchises (I say older so people won’t hound me with “WELL BYLETH GOT IN SO”).

We are not getting another FE rep lol. Rip red head merchant waifu.

Shooter characters are in a really weird spot since these games tend to not be made for kids (it’s easy to forget in all the hype and speculation that smash is first and foremost meant for kids), yet have made such a big cultural impact on the gaming scene that it’s hard to deny their “worthiness” to be in smash. Master Chief in particular is tricky to place since I definitely think he has much more character than most other shooter reps (cough cough Doomguy) and could have a more varied moveset than just “gun.” But that being said, he’s once again a character owned by Microsoft and comes from a franchise that up until very recently was Xbox exclusive and (as far as I’m aware, has never been released on a Nintendo system). It’s also important to remember that the original Xbox sold miserably in Japan, so I doubt that he’s getting in either.

On a similar note, I’ve seen people throw around ideas for a TF2 rep. This makes a lot more sense to me than Halo or Doom; the playable characters have much more personality and the cartoony aesthetic of the game fits in way better than most other shooters (cough cough Doom). I don’t know which character would be chosen though. Heavy probably? I think their main problem is that Valve would probably be picky about licensing and whatnot (I don’t think we’d be getting Gordon Freeman or Chell for the same reason). Additionally, I struggle to imagine TF2 without it’s signature dark humor which would most likely be cut for smash

Due to recent events, I do not think we will be getting an Overwatch or any other Blizzard rep.

If there’s one character I’d be willing to bet money on getting in, it’s Crash. While he’s never really been all that popular in Japan, it just feels right to me. He fits in perfectly, he has some history with Nintendo (even if he is more synonymous with PlayStation), and I mean…he just feels right. I know that sounds shitty after having just denied a bunch of other characters in an articulate manner, but I don’t know what else to say. I’m not even that big of a Crash fan. The only thing I can see hurting his chances is Activision potentially asking for money than Nintendo is willing to give (this is why he didn’t get into Pl’ystation Allst’rs)

Similarly, I think Spyro has a good chance of getting into smash, but not as well as Crash. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I always thought that Crash just had more of a cultural impact than Spyro did. I do think Spyro has a good chance of getting in though. Maybe some Skylanders/amiibo crosspromotion? Probably not.

Given how stingy they were with Hero (when compared to other DLC reps) and _especially _Cloud, I don’t think we’re getting another Square Enix rep, be it Sephiroth, a Black Mage, or Geno. That being said, it could’ve all been a long con and the FF7 remake will release alongside Sephiroth DLC with the actual fucking spirit battles that we should’ve gotten. Probably not though.

Dante I think has a pretty good chance at getting in. I think that he stands at a similar position to Bayonetta when it comes to censorship, so I think he could work. God knows that he would be broken if he did get in though.

I’ve been a big advocate for a Puyo Puyo rep in smash, and if we were to get one I think it would be Arle (maybe with other characters on her alts like Koopalings/Heroes). People have already theorized how her moveset could work, and I agree with that speculation wholeheartedly. Puyo Puyo unfortunately isn’t very well known outside of Japan since in the past it was usually released under a different brand (Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Kirby Avalanche, etc). I do think that we absolutely need more puzzle reps than fucking Doctor Mario though, and Puyo Puyo seems perfect.

Professor Layton has unfortunately not had a new game in a long time (at least not one where he has a staring role), and outside of his swordsmanship, which is seen very rarely throughout the series, I don’t think that there’s much of a moveset to be made for him.

I love Ace Attorney, but I don’t think that Phoenix Wright is getting in. I don’t think that Sakurai would realistically just copy and paste his MvC3 moveset to smash and I don’t know what else you could do with him. Also, we haven’t gotten a new international release for Ace Attorney since 2016.

I know next to nothing about No More Heroes but I know a couple of people who will have a fit if I don’t mention Travis. I know there’s a sequel on the horizon but similar to Psychonauts, I don’t see it really happening. It feels to much like a cult classic to me. Once again, I know next to nothing about No More Heroes, so take that with a grain of salt.

I don’t think that any assist trophy characters will be “promoted” to playable through DLC.

And that’s about it. I know that sounded really pessimistic, but that’s honestly because I haven’t the foggiest idea about who’s going to get in. Everyone I want in in this timeline is either an assist trophy/spirit or a niche western/indie pick that I doubt has a chance. That sucks, but it’s just life. As long as we don’t get Goku or Fortnite though, I’ll be happy with whoever.

my favorite records of the 2010s pt 1 (the less great stuff/honorable mentions)

Neither this post or its followup are going to be in any particular order, however all the records I talk about here are, in my opinion, not as good as the records i will talk about in my part 2. they’re all fantastic but these ones slightly a little less fantastic than the ones in my “top 10″. none of this is based on stuff like 'influence' or whatever other critics base their lists on, this is solely how much I enjoyed these records. And keep in mind, I'm only human, I havent listened to a good lot of records I've heard others describe as top 10 worthy, these are just records I found and that I resonate with. long post ahead. 

Vacation - Bomb the Music Industry (2011)

If you asked me what my favorite band is i will either say bomb the music industry or jeff rosenstock, but considering those are pretty much the same things it doesnt matter lol. While Vacation isnt a perfect record, it is one I love. It lacks some of the ska elements that I love about earlier BTMI records, but at the same time, it is the first record where Jeff’s “””solo””” career sound starts to form in tracks like Sick, Later, Hurricane Waves, Everybody That You Love, Everybody That Loves You, and Vocal Coach. And these tracks are all fantastic, especially the absolutely explosive opener Campaign For a Better Weekend. Where this album suffers in my mind is the fact that it exists as a weird hybrid middle ground between BTMI and modern Jeff Rosenstock, it isn’t really ska like old BTMI and it’s not quite to the same standard as the tracks on We Cool?. And some of the songs are just, not as good as the others, like Why, Oh Why, Oh Why (Oh Oh Oh Oh), which is washed out almost entirely in reverb, and tracks like Savers feeling barren and missing additional instrumentation. But fuck man I can not dislike this record or just call it “ok” because despite this I still listen to this record a lot, it’s so catchy and fun and Im a bit too chronically addicted to btmi. 

Reflektor - Arcade Fire (2013)

i dont really get the hate/mixed feelings others have with this record. there’s so many good tracks dude!!!! sure theres a bit of a slump in the middle and it doesnt reach the same emotional heights as their previous records you gotta be ignorant to overlook this records strengths. while i do like The Suburbs more than Reflektor, man i just vibe HARD with some of these tracks; the title track, We Exist, Here Comes The Night Time, Normal Person, Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice), Porno, and ESPECIALLY Afterlife. Plus the cover art is cool and I like it. However Flashbulb Eyes is one of the worst tracks Arcade Fire has ever put out and I hate it immensely. And while far less offensive, tracks like You Already Know, It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus), and Joan of Arc are just kinda boring and/or uninteresting. Now granted, I'm extremely biased when it comes to Arcade fire in general unless were talking about the trainwreck that is Everything Now. I started listening to Arcade Fire just before Reflektor came out, and I have a kinda sentimental attachment to the record. ill explain the feeling more when i talk about The Suburbs. anticipation oooooo.

good kid m.A.A.d city - Kendrick Lamar (2012)

i might get crucified by some for not putting this in my top 10, but whatever come at me i guess. gkmc is a fantastic record, but i do think the ending is weak, which is why it’s here instead of in the top 10. i mean, let’s be real, Real is a mediocre track, and while Dying of Thirst is an important track to the whole narrative of the record, it feels way too long. almost everything else about this record is fantastic, from the beats, to kendrick’s nasally flows, to the overall structure of the record spinning a tale of a young man battling demons both inside and out, and his eventual redemption. even if i find this record at times to drop pace, it really is flawless otherwise. it felt like a disservice to put this in the 20-10s, bc it’s a good record, but i had to make some compromises and this was one of them. 

RTJ2 - Run The Jewels (2014)

el-p and killer mike are a perfect duo, and the tracks they make together are always total bangers. and for me, RTJ2 is the best overall, with RTJ3 in a close second. it’s hard to put this on the lower half of the list, some of the tracks just don’t work as well as the others, but despite that there’s not really any tracks i hate or dislike on this record, minus maybe crown. the pure aggression in the opening track Jeopardy sets the tone for an aggressive yet highly focused record. This is some of the best rap out there right now if you want some music to fuck shit up to. 

Pure Comedy - Father John Misty (2017)

This record is both hilarious and extremely bleak. Josh Tillman is a master of satire and sarcasm, and Pure Comedy is the peak of his songwriting skills. The title track is one of the best tracks of the decade, period. And he keeps up the momentum on the following few tracks. The main problem with this record is its weaker second half, but even then it’s criminal to suggest that those songs aren’t good regardless. And despite the bleakness, the one line that sticks in my head after all this time is the line this album fades out to: There’s nothing to fear.

Knife Man - AJJ (2011)

Continuing on the trend of folky, satirical, and bleak records, Knife Man is AJJ’s defining record (next to their debut LP). AJJ blends loud, punky anthems with quieter, folk tracks that touch on sensitive issues in a way only AJJ manages to get away with. And there’s some genuine heart mixed in as well, with the final track Big Bird always striking a chord with me. However, I do feel the record is, let’s just say, padded at times in my opinion. Still, I can’t deny how much i enjoy tracks like Gift of the Magi 2, Hate Rain on Me, The Distance, and Skate Park. Speaking of which when I saw AJJ live recently they played none of those songs and that kinda sucked but hey it was like $20 I can’t complain. And speaking of not getting what I wanted...

You Won’t Get What You Want - Daughters (2018)

It was hard choosing between this record and their 2010 self titled record, but in terms of the overall narrative and variety this record shines through. If there was a number 11 spot in this unorganized list this would probably take that spot. It’s noisey, it’s abrasive, and it’s like nothing you’ve heard before unless you’ve listened to Daughter’s previous records. Tracks like The Reason They Hate Me are catchy in the weirdest and most unwelcoming of ways, Less Sex sounds like a long lost Trent Reznor NIN track, and Guest House is a masochistic and gut wrenching finisher. Fantastic record aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

We Cool? - Jeff Rosenstock (2015)

It’s obvious that I had to include this record somewhere on these list. It’s like a more refined version of the sounds that Jeff experimented with on Vacation. Definitely more punk than ska, but still some of those roots still shine through, especially in the track Nausea. Some of Jeff’s best songs are on this record, from the loud opening tracks Get Old Forever and You, In Weird Cities, to tracks dripping with bittersweet and moody lyrics like I’m Serious, I’m Sorry and Polar Bear or Africa. The main reason this record is on the back end of the top 20 is because the deeper cuts on the record do not match the energy and heights of the best tracks. Tracks like All Blissed Out, The Lows, Darkness Records and Beers Again Alone don’t feel like they belong and stick out a bit. They remind me more of the material Jeff put out on his 2012 EP I Look Like Shit. Mind you they aren’t bad tracks, but I’ll be honest I skip them often when listening to the record because i just wanna get back to the good good stuff. 

Sports - Modern Baseball (2012)

Sports is one of the best pop punk records ever, if you can even consider it as such. It’s like a blend of emo and folk punk, and it works so well. A good majority of this record is on my main shuffle playlist. Is it pushing boundaries? Not really, but tracks like Re-Do, Tears Over Beers, and See Ya, Sucker are undeniably catchy and memorable. I NEED MODERN BASEBALL BACK TOGETHER RN. There’s not really anything that wrong with the record, besides maybe lacking in variety, but at 30 minutes, it’s a record that feels nostalgic even on a first listen, and continues to feel that way even after numerous re-listens. Speaking of nostalgia...

The Suburbs - Arcade Fire (2010)

Some background, when I was 13 (circa 2013), I only really listened to whatever my parents put on for me. From my mom, I “inherited” a taste for classic pop and 80s new wave. From my dad, I got metal and hard rock. The first time I made the conscious decision to listen to a record fully, based on my own curiousity, was when I sat and listened to Sgt. Pepper in the summer of 2013, which broadened the scope of what I thought music could even be. And later that year, the first band I got into after The Beatles? Arcade Fire. When I think of my early teens, the memories are set to this record. I remember listening to Ready to Start in my brother’s old hot ass car while driving to the local fair with some friends on a chill fall night, eating tons of junk and staying up past midnight back when doing that was edgy and cool and not a symptom of my depression. 

If I was judging this record solely by its best tracks, it would easily be in the top 3. But I couldn’t place it in my top 10 because, frankly, some of the deeper cuts are lacking. I can’t say I like Deep Blue. I really don’t like Rococo. And Half Light I kills the pace of the record. But man, that title track, Ready to Start, Modern Man, Empty Room, Half Light II, Sprawl II... these songs defined my early teen years. I still tear up listening to the title track. Sure I have to skip a few songs when I re-listen, but I can’t place it any lower or my heart will break. It existing outside of the top 10 already hurts. And that’s all that’s left now. The top 10.
