Word of advice to incoming university students from someone whose been a university student for nearly a decade now:

Having a good professor seriously makes all the difference. I just had finals for the summer and I took a math class. On the final exam, there was one question I didn’t know how to do so I just skipped it and left it blank…my professor didn’t take off any points for that.

My professor also dropped my lowest test score which raised my overall grade a couple percentage points.

I mean, if you’re just a genius or child prodigy or something then maybe you don’t care about what professors you have, but if you’re just a regular-brained peasant like me, make sure you do your research and actually put thought into the classes you take because who teaches them can make all the difference.

#academia #on the other hand i’m torn though #i got 100% on my math final #i’ve never gotten 100% on a math test before #but does this really count?#i only got the 100 because my prof was cool and knows that word problems are stupid #(the question i skipped was a word problem)#maybe i should just take the win #i mean…i guess i did get 100 in a way #like if i’d gotten other questions wrong #i would’ve lost points for those #so i guess i got 100 on all the questions i actually did #i’ll count it #it’s almost a shame i’ll never need algebra for the rest of my life #i don’t want to be good at something that’s useless to me!

ok someone please correct me if i'm wrong but am i weird for thinking those 'audiobooks don't count as reading' posts are ableist as fuck????

#ramble #my first thought was like: how is this even a debate what about blind people. not every book comes in braille but MOST have an audiobook #or dyslexic people #you still enjoyed the book!! you still absorbed it!!! you got EXACTLY the same thing as people who read the words!!!#how does it not count????#i guess you miss out on the 'learning new vocab' you get through seeing the words but also #i don't really do audiobooks but i do a lot of podcasts esp fiction podcasts #and i have ABSOLUTELY picked up new stuff from there that helps with my writing #someone please explain how this is even an argument of COURSE it counts????#idk in my opinion finishing a book means 'i put the words in my brain and i thought about them and i enjoyed a story'#not 'i held a stack of paper in my hands for a bit'#i'm v lucky that i do have time to sit and read. and whenever i commute anywhere it's public transport so i CAN bring a book with me #but if i didn't have the free time or had to drive for hours everywhere i would be STOKED to still get to enjoy books #it's been REALLY bothering me lmao idk why i feel so strongly #for some reason it's giving the same energy as like. being told you can't take a comic or manga from the library bc it's not a 'real' book #of course it's a real book it's a story somebody wrote down #i can see this spiralling into 'if you have a kindle you aren't reading'. you have to sniff the paper. feel the papercuts

Ayesha Erotica made a song about a woman who enjoyed anal rape and is considered funny and silly despite an entire list of controversies. Lily Orchard known for SU video essay used to write graphic incest and pedophilic abuse MLP fanfiction in his TWENTIES. Ezra Miller - a "non binary" man - assaulted a child. Ethel Cain made religious abuse and incest his aesthetic and literally uses slurs and no one bats an eye. Hunter Schafer posted a psychopathic manifesto about how being a woman is being an object and everyone praises him. Chris Chan raped his mother and he's seen as a victim of bullying first. Eli erlick has a massive following on Tumblr despite being a rapist. You tried to close the Vancouver rape shelter leaving women escaping abuse basically homeless and everyone supported you. A man with several porn accounts with explicit urls got banned for posting said porn and ceo of Tumblr got harrassed for weeks over it. When jkr said trans males sent her porn and she didn't engage with them she got harrassed for "not taking action" despite her saying she literally reported said porn.

Who the fuck expects you to be dainty and demure? All you do is mock, harass and abuse women and the entire world save for like a couple women on Twitter finds an excuse for you. Shut the fuck up

The fandom jokes about Gandalfs love of and absolute faith in hobbits, but like he’s a maiar so he’s seen some shit with the other races. Is there a hobbit Feanor? How about a hobbit Ar-Pharazon? Even a hobbit Sauron? The worst we get from hobbits is Smeagol killing a guy in a mugging (admittedly not great) and then spending a few centuries minding his own business in a cave eating raw fish. They are unproblematic kings.
