ive been relistening to some of the SHWEPisodes on proclus and i think proclus could have saved abrahamic theology (which like. okay obviously they are different. but like. theyre really not different. the amount of cross-influence in abrahamic theology is crazy. and also mutual influence from the same greek philosophers, which leads to cross-influence via cribbing interpretations of nominally secular philosophy. anyway).

so okay, religion has basically two threads, nirguna (without attributes) and saguna (with attributes). yknow, god as transcendent, indescribable, beyond comprehension, totally detached, etc, vs god as earthly, specific, with attributes and symbols and statues. just the former is boring and sort of without content, leads to deism, just the latter isn't even god, its just like... a powerful guy who might exist. not god, really. so you need both

but how do you have both? theyre contradictory. well, christianity tried to solve this with jesus and it sucks. so. not like that. BUT a mere 400 years later proclus figured it out. and a little bit of it spread around the greco-abrahamic tradition, because his elements of theology was shared around by people who thought it was by aristotle. but mostly, he didnt influence that much, which is too bad

okay so here's proclus' idea. first of all, there's the one. it's the ultimate nirguna. totally transcendent. cause of all being. etc. we cant talk about the one. we cant even talk about what the one ISNT. BUT below the one, there's the henads. the henads are not the one but theyre sort of. related to him. theyre the closest thing to the one than anything else is. and the henads "are" the greek gods. but actually, they just correspond to the greek gods.

from each henad there is a chain to lower and lower levels, with the earth at the bottom. and a statue of athena doesn't look like athena-the-henad. but it resembles her MORE than other earthly things do. and in fact everything is in the chain of one of the henads. so like, if you know a guy, and he has some of hermes' traits, and maybe a facial feature associated with hermes, thats because he's in the henad of hermes. some things, or traits of things, have a better "resonance" with the henads than other things. and because everything is connected via the henads you can do magic, by yknow, influencing things higher up in the chain, which then send their influence back down to other things in the chain (i guess it's less a chain and more a tree).

its a good theory of magic! its a good way of having the saguna and nirguna together! it makes the transcendent aspect do metaphysical work, its not just a trait its the mechanism by which ritual functions (another thorny puzzle for theologians!)

Wow, I was just looking in the insta comments of ja'marr signing shit for fans and omfg, i couldn't believe my eyes. 'Show a little excitement' 'look like you care a lil' 'don't look away while you're shaking someone's hand' well what if i shake in RAGE. like he stopped and signed the jersey and he took a picture, what. 'smile' GIRL THE CAMERA ISN'T EVEN POINTED AT HIM. and like you compare that shit to joe signing shit yesterday (in which joe didn't smile either) and it's all 'oh thats my qb' 'making a diff in the young generation' 'so compassionate'. The sheer difference in perception is just... 💔

The thing is: there's a lot of racism in the NFL.

Like, just as a whole, we're watching a predominately black population fight each other for our entertainment. Yes, NFL athletes get paid, but for the longest time, the main argument for NIL was that colleges were benefitting from the free 'labor' of student-athletes, who were basically putting their bodies and futures on the line (it's been proven you can get CTE from even youth football which. yikes). Don't get me wrong, the NFL has gotten a hell lot better with coaches. Like a couple of years, there was just one black head coach (which is another rant bc the racial makeup of the league was even more skewed in past years), and this year there was nine. So it's... progress? The thing is: I get the Rooney rule, I do. But interviewing for a job that you know you aren't getting... I don't know. Considering someone for an interview and considering someone for a job are two entirely different things. I don't know how to fix it, it's kind of a microcosm of the whole DEI debate. On one hand, African Americans are at a historical and thereby structural disadvantage, but teams are still gonna hire who they think is best (and surely it's just a coincidence that 'who they think is best' is white).

And there's a lot of just casual racism. There's a common myth that black athletes tend to be faster. No one likes to acknowledge it, but it's basically entrenched into our society. And that myth permeates through the NFL and football in general.

There's a reason why you never see black centers and we're only recently seeing black qbs. Those are the 'thinking' positions, the leadership positions, arguably the most important positions. And there's a reason why so many WRs and corners are black. Those are the 'athletic' positions. (There's also the fact that wide receiver and corner are positions far more prone to injury than qbs or centers or kickers but that deserves its own rant).

In large part, the racial segregation can be traced to youth/college football, where black players are predominately pushed to the athletic positions. Black players are perfectly able to play qb thank you very much -it's that their coaches and agents and whoever switch them to WR or corner.

There are a lot of stories about how people were trying to convince Lamar to become a RB -and that's still a common insult for Lamar (oh he's just a glorified RB). And that's basically reducing Lamar to just his athleticism, completely ignoring the FACT that he's an elite passer. Like fuck right off with the 'he's not intelligent enough' argument (which some people still say). The discourse around black quarterbacks, as a whole, is still very much centered on 'oh it's just their athleticism', always praising their 'two-way threat' and that just. Ugh.

And also running backs! The current devaluation of running backs, considering that most rbs are black... there's something disturbing about just how much of the discourse around rbs is centered around how easily they can be replaced. How they're seen as commodities and things, rather than people. This can be extended to all players, because of how profit-oriented the NFL is, but it's especially applicable to rbs and I don't think the fact that most rbs are black, is a coincidence.

Back to WRs. The media loves to just toss the label of 'diva' on wide receivers. And like those hand-wavy comments, 'oh that's just the diva gene'... Again. Most WRs are black. The correlation between accusing overreacting with race is... it makes me uncomfortable. Racism isn't about calling people slurs, it's stereotyping a whole group of people and in this case, there's a long history accusing black people of overreacting. When people call Ja'Marr a diva for wanting to be paid his worth, yea, I do think there's racism there.

Yeah Prince Zam is an active threat and also a problem in Evbo's eyes. Although Zam clearly isn't after him anymore in s2 (atleast to our current understanding, he is definitely plotting something with Parrot though which. Parrot you aren't beating the traitor allegations buddy whats up with that.) Evbo however, doesn't know that! And thats a valid concern. I don't think Zam is..too awful of a threat to Evbo considering Zam got his ass kicked twice. But thats just me, who knows he might surprise me next time! But assuming its not JUST Zam to worry about, here is my theory: TW we are discussing self harm.

Evbo got stressed out a shitton. Clearly. And while he is handling himself okay now as we see him in s2 ep 1, there are very clear hints that. he is not doing quite so hot still. Lets run down the trauma list real quick: - Dying. And murder. Average Tuesday for this type of civilization, but these people are well. People. And generally stuff like that on a constant basis isn't very good to someone's brain. - The whole thing with him being farmed for an unknown amount of time during the prison arc. Very bad, but he pulled through eventually. Not enough time to heal from something like that though considering.. - Tabi's betrayal. I'd imagine this was probably the major stressor here. Like, finding out the person you ran around with for so long was planning on farming your entire civilization RIGHT after you just got done with dealing with what that would be like? Especially since she was the sole person keeping Evbo going with the golden sword layer. - Zam. I don't even need to explain that. - Finding out there are other civilizations. Finding out all of them are after the eternal weapons and the whole. Lore infodump that Julie put square on his head. Girl I love you, but that news probably did not help this guy. - Finding out he wasn't even The Chosen One, but Ferre was. And Ferre gave him that "gift". There are. A few things that could've happened there. Evbo took that news pretty well when Ferre first told him that, to our knowledge. But that definitely still would sting. So with all of the new stuff in mind I'd imagine Evbo probably felt like: "Wow, Okay, so I went through the worst experience I ever had in my life for the sake of getting me and my friend out and somewhere better, then she stabs me in the back, lets me live, I find out there's other civilizations that all want me and the diamond swords farmed, along with every other sword, for the sake of keeping themselves alive, and I got ambushed by one of my captors trying to kill me for real in my own house, that I thought was dead but wasn't, then I had to go deal with my enemies in the iron sword layer, then I get told that I'm just some guy that was chosen to go through this by one of my own kind that definitely also knows that respawning over and over again sucks. Why? What? And I'm not allowed to go find Tabi because I 'need to rest'? But I need to get that back its my fault that this happened-" And then the spiral would probably very quickly start. Considering his main thing for dealing with problems is talking to a video journal about it, but he recently found out that the other diamond swords can just read those entries, he wouldn't really have a place to vent this now would he? So what does a man with probably, nothing left to lose do in a situation where his brain is wired, he isn't being allowed to go after Tabi (because lets be honest the diamond swords wouldn't immediately let him go after her without recovering after all this, and there's a very clear but brief-ish time skip between the finale and s2) and has no other way to stress relieve? Obviously, he is gonna take it out on himself. I'd imagine he didn't want to respawn due to Zam being there. But nothing says it had to be fatal. He has a sword, knows how to use it, probably knows where to cut without bleeding out fully because he did that on the cell floor many, many times. So he cuts. Someone probably notices that he isn't doing well. His sword is damaged, sleeves that were previously cleaner have turned brown once again (He doesn't know how to tend a wound properly in my eyes and just lets it fester) and while he is smiling, its noticably weaker and he isn't really fully there. Someone finds out. They obviously tell the other swords. They take care of him, asking "please don't do that again this scares us please talk to us about things" and well. He doesn't. I'd imagine it takes awhile for him to fully develop enough trust to call these people family. Debatable how long that trust takes to form considering. The issues™ But eventually he does.

Julie's whole infodump during the s1 finale makes me think shes probably knee deep into the lore of this world and is an immediate hazard for spontaneous rambles. love that for her Do I even need to explain MinuteTech? His whole thing in the animation where he doesn't really know what hes supposed to do with Evbo, and then the whole acting strategically rather than emotionally and not getting Evbo's joke (according to Evbo himself who. probably did that just to make himself feel better) also "This will cost me precisely 3.2 percent of my lifespan." SIR.

Wemmbu is..a bit trickier but in my heart probably has something similar to what Evbo is currently experiencing? Maybe? He goes through the video journal HQ searching frantically for Evbo but other than that not much for me to go off of? I have plans for him though. And Evbo! Dear god how does he keep getting more unwell the more we see him? First off the guy literally claims to hear voices offhandedly (or at the very least, implied) at one point along with the whole. Trauma avoidance shit that he expresses in bow civ. Like hes probably not doing so hot after not just the Tabi betrayal, not just the prison and whatever happened between episode 4 and 5, but the reveal that shes going to hunt down all the other eternal weapons and he's the only one that's gonna be stopping her? Because the other diamond swords are staying put to guard their home and he's probably feeling isolated? He mentions that he regards them as family and also notably asks MinuteTech to buy the water bucket for him when hes too low. Despite him being very capable of respawning still i would assume.... hello. chill if nah but do you want to share some advice for teasing/flirting w people? I know this guy, trans, loses it every time I call him "good boy" or "handsome" but I'm running out of tricks!! But he's so fun to teaseeee I don't wanna run out

I mean it depends on the person but if he’s into that kind of thing I can tell you other stuff he might enjoy, leaning more praise because of the examples you gave me. Pretty boy, an actual pet name like puppy, doggy, pet, or something, or like a overly cute nickname based on his name are some options to incorporate. Something id suggest is kind of dropping something teasing on him very suddenly in conversation. Innocently asking him to do something and then being like “aww what a good boy, you’re so good at doing what you’re told” is an easy example/ way to set it up. It’s just super cute to watch them get all surprised and clearly turned on.

Another thing I enjoy for teasing is like a demeaning compliment. Situation dependent but something like “it’s a good thing you’re so handsome/ cute because you’re not the brightest, puppy” after he like doesn’t understand a thing or makes a little mistake. Maybe if you helped him with something random you could say like “what would a pet like you do if I wasn’t here to take care of you”. These are just examples in the nature of what you’re going for, you’re gonna need think of little comments based on what’s happening in your conversation and cater them to what the guy likes. Also think about whats gender affirming when you’re choosing what to compliment and insult. For trans men I usually like to insult their intelligence since being like a dumb blockhead is just kind of a guy thing and usually won’t actually hurt any feelings, I’d lift them up in like appearance (handsome, cute, pretty etc), usefulness/obedience, (good job, good boy, what a good listener,you take it so well etc), or any other trait you know that specific person would enjoy being complimented on.

I’d also suggest possessiveness if everyone’s comfortable. My puppy, My pet, My pretty boy. Be a good boy for me, touch yourself for me, cum for me ( obviosuly more risqué but just add for me to most commands). I find most people enjoy the security and feeling of being wanted that comes with possessive talk and it just makes the praise all the more addictive.

Another thing is if hes responding very positively start making him directly participate. Who’s good boy?, you’re really so desperate for me huh? Tell me how bad you want it?. Just prompt him to respond. Either he does it and it’s adorable and embarrassing or he sputters out because answering is too embarrassing for him and you get to watch him get all flustered. Works well for some degration to, “you’re really such a slut huh?” Or something similar so that he either agrees or pathetically tries to deny it while still actively getting turned on which you can make fun of him for. It’s kind of little conversational trap.

Also keep in mind tone for all of this, I think that kind of condescending, patronizing, overly sweet tone is my go to. It’s kind of like everything he is doing is so cute but in a way thats actively demeaning to him. You don’t have to do that though. A Genuine sounding sweet voice can be very fun if you incorporate a bit more degration. Like someone sounding 100% sincerely nice while they’re calling you degrading names and making fun of you is super hot. Just find what works for the both of you. If it’s flirting over text then there’s only so much you can do but writing out the occasional condescending “awww” or telling him how irl you’re giggling at him can kind of bridge that gap. But like say those things honestly, don’t make up how you’re reacting just share it with him if it’ll add to the dirty talk.

In the third panel, the door panel is a close up of the door opening with a peek of Vash's head. He says, "Wolfwood!" In the fourth panel, Vash is holding a bag of food with a bright smile and says, "Are you hungry? I got you something to eat today!"

The fourth page begins with a shot of the room, two beds being highlighted, one of them being made properly with the blanket draped over the bed and the other with the blanket folded and pillow sitting on top of it. The sixth page starts with Wolfwood confused, looking at Vash and Vash looks back, just as confused, with tears in his eyes and snot out of his nose. Wolfwood starts saying, "Ah? You..." No longer in panels, at the bottom of the page, Wolfwood takes the Punisher off of himself and starts to walk towards Vash, continuing with slight concern, "What's wrong with you? Did something happen?" Vash, hurriedly begins to wipe at his tears, denying immediately, "No! No, I'm fine! Nothing happened!"

The seventh page, Vash points towards the table, with a hand still wiping at his tears and he smiles as he says, "I uh got you food. On the table." Wolfwood looks towards to the table and responds, "Oh. I was getting hungry, thanks." He turns his head back to Vash immediately after with an uncertain expression, knowing the other wasn't responding to his concern, and says, "But, I know you're an idiot with this stuff, so I'm reminding you again. Don't brush it off if it's an issue, alright?"

The eight page, Vash's tears have dried and he looks to Wolfwood with a soft smile and responds, "Yeah. It's okay though..." A panel at the center shows a side view of Vash approaching Wolfwood. At the bottom of the page, with no panel, is a close up shot of Vash's hand, holding onto the edge of Wolfwood's jacket sleeve, as he says, "Because you're here now. Wolfwood."

The final page is a back shot of both of them standing next to each other, Wolfwood's head tilted slightly to the left, not fully believing Vash as he says, "That doesn't answer anything, Spikey." Vash responds, "There's no need to talk about it! You should enjoy your food. Let's have a drink too?" Wolfwood responds, "Tsk, tsk. Fine, yeah. I could use one." END ID]

sorry to be a bit of a hater but i do wish youtubers weren't so scared of making their videos just like, "reviews", whys everything gotta be a "video essay" all the time. every day my recommendations are filled with 40 minute videos titled "_____: An Underrated Masterpiece" where the first like five minutes are reading the wikipedia definition of "masterpiece" in a somber voice with dramatic themed text on screen. please just tell me how good or bad you think something is and use the rest of the runtime to explain why. you dont need to put on all these airs

I think the best part about Jinchul in SLr is the fact that they kept dropping small details here and there about just how extremely serious he is about protecting earth, but you dont get the full picture until you get to meeting him that you are just like "oh wow hes gone off the rails OKAY!"

Although I think the part that drove home for me that he was just, not thinking sanely would have to be when he proposed the choker bombs on Villains to be wrapped around their neck. Or you know, when he just gave full on permition to Taeshik and other people to go ahead and kill villains and pay them for that. I mean, its obvious when you hear it from me, right now, that Jinchul was obviously crossing the line way before we got told directly that 'yup hes not well mentally.' but considering most action manhwas and, just the general vibe about action fantasy has about stripping criminals from human rights and simply letting them die a gruesome death (heck even SL had bunch of those moments) I was like "oh yeah Jinchul is just being hyped as this hero of justice following along Jinwoo's steps to guide people"

BUT NO, instead Daul really said "This man is suffering a past trauma that he constantly relives in his dreams, he fears everyday that the war hes seen will come back again, porbably even worse, and for that he wants the world to be prepared. (While also not mentioning hes the sole reason of Jinchul's trauma since the more he spends with Jinchul the more hes afected by his aura. same to what happened with Ilhwan.)
