butters can’t stand kyle

Last night after dinner w/my fam I watched the SAG awards so I am a little behind on the conversation around the Chris Evans Clown Show Comedy Hour. However I read a couple of asks received by @nancydrewwouldnever about how he’s been looking like the Raggedy Andy version of his normal self these past few months and I couldn’t agree more.

I thought so watching the SMA videos People put out.

Back during my more naïve days, I just thought he was possibly exhausted and that could very well still be true. But after the rabbit hole I’ve been down for the past couple of months, I am of the opinion he's exhausted for a different reason than work requirements. Which is just that – my opinion: observation mixed with speculation.

I don’t think this RS – if it is rooted in PR like I think it is – was ever intended to last this long. From what I have gathered, the Netflix show and movie for which AB would have benefited the most having a lot of attention were originally supposed to both release in the first half of 2022. One or both were delayed, the show being very delayed -from first/second quarter all the way to the last quarter of the year. So not only did she lose out on a bump for the movie, but by the time her show finally launched it pretty much had already been axed by NF. So when Mr. SMA 2022 does the CP Marathon (horribly) with her, the only project she has going on at the time is hanging by a thread.

That's her fault for being lazy and entitled. A million golden opportunities were missed by her/her team, but I feel like Chris wasn’t going to sell anything very well anyway, as he likely was being pissy about this situationshit lasting so long. Which led me to thinking that “laser focus” press question was a plant to tie back to the earlier article BUT made me think it could possibly have been contrived as a way to signify the end of their "RS" had it gone to plan. The question would allow room for him to insinuate he was single again and “focused on finding the right partner” to “pour himself into” bc “awe, shucks, I’m just so unlucky in love…” 💀

BUT THAT CAN’T HAPPEN… he can’t signal the end of something that hasn’t yet been announced. So it looked to the viewer, and especially his fandom, that he was signaling his singlehood – and for his fans, to debunk the rumors flying around about his Lolita. NOW he has to stutter around and trap himself in word prisons and go take a quick pap sprint the same time as SMA announcement bc that’s when the show drops and do more photos and BS to sell the OVER year-long narrative when they were really prepped to do a 9ish-mos storyline. All the OG pics and scares (IMO) that were preemptively shot not only look slightly better but they also would have fit in with starting the RS storyline Fall 2021 and, if nothing would have been delayed, the end falling somewhere Summer 2022.

I think this is why he does such a shit job selling it. He struggles to sell intimacy anyway, but he’s not even giving it the ole college try bc he’s pissed off that it’s taken more time than he expected and dragging his feet. I mean…. All these rumors about the same chick for months HAS to have a negative impact on his harem, right?? 😂 Now she’s pissed that he’s dragging his feet – or maybe she wanted it to turn into more than what it is and he’s noped the fuck out – so she throws a hissy fit with the yoga cert mess, her mom’s pic, and her OF shower pictorial.  

It's possible had this not dragged along for this long, all the dirt that has surfaced RE: her and her sOuLMaTes being racist, antisemetic, fat phobic, basically all around horrendous ppl that has TANKED his image and lost him a good portion of his fandom would have maybe not surfaced. The mess would have been announced, been annoying, and been over before anyone cared enough to dig that much - or at least make that big of a deal about it, bc he would have been rid of her. I know that this dumpster fire mimics SS a lot but I think that Chris agreeing to a much shorter version in the beginning is why there are SO MANY pictures all at once. He probs didn't want to do this for the 2 years or whatever that SS committed to.

I think he has thrown his own tantrum of “I ain’t doin this shit anymore” and has left it to someone else to handle which is why he is AWOL from everywhere, including going out to dinner with his friend/castmates, and not doing his own SM anymore (I personally don’t think he’s posting anything at all right now himself). Seems he’s also made sure that he/his team control the mass narrative to the GP.

I think they’re riding this shit show out until the end, letting their teams do whatever they need to do. Even if she has the DESIRE to show up for anything like the Twitter reading (was she even invited? Was she wanted by her castmates/showrunners? Hollywood is show BUSINESS afterall so even if she wasn’t wanted she would be expected to show up to make good on production companies’ investments & save face?) the situations aren’t really going to be great for her. There would be – and SHOULD BE – backlash involving the discriminatory posts, which she obvs has no intentions of denouncing. IMO she should have done it anyway for her fans, but her not doing it goes a long way to prove her entitlement, lazy ass attitude, and ungratefulness. But from the looks of  those Star Power reports from IMDB that someone shared, it’s not her that’s hurting… it’s HIM. 🤡

He’s suffering greatly, which is also deserved, and he very likely knows it. It has taken a noticeable toll on his looks, his presence, his gait, and his energy. He looks like a shell of his former self bc he is. And he’s seemingly off licking his wounds until he can start his Chris Evans Redemption Tour.

I would like to put it out into the universe that my birthday is next month and it falls within their usual “drop” timeframe so it would be a fantastic birthday gift if March’s bomb was the BUA.

The reason why it hard to pick bc both page/Knight work for King & Queen but taking orders in different way.

Page is more so a new beginning of the level, new in his element which reflect Husk as a lower level sinners thanks to his role under Al. It line up with how I see Jack

But I also will take back the page argument bc Knight is more suited to Husk as Al’s Jack.

Knight of Pentacle are more grounded but still more skill than page, calculating with his power over finance and giving service to the king (Al) & Queen (Charlie as Princess).

Knight show that he have experience but still under other people. Some people might try to find more the card meaning of these but I found that reading base on card as their role try to give advice is more proactive way to read cards.

Which overall, it very suited Husk as Knight

Hello! I’m back to talk about Resident Evil fandom misogyny! Are y’all sick of me yet? Too bad!

I know my source for this fucking sucks (it’s ao3) but since I’ve bitched about the horrible way RE fics on ao3 are somewhat reflective of the fandom before, and bc what I saw pissed me off, I’m gonna talk about it.

And unlike some people, if y’all don’t care about it, I’m gonna put it under a cut, and NOT post my annoying ramblings in the main tag as if they’re facts and not just my interpretations and criticism of fandom wide expression

So I was thinking about making a post saying “merry yaoimas (chreon) and a happy new yuri (femslash re ship)” with the latter parantheses actually holding an re ship. But that did make me pause and think, what was the most popular femslash re ship? I know I have my favorites (claida, chamberfield, and ashuela being most prominent), but I’m also aware that those are rarepairs and probably not indicative of the fandom as a whole.

The first thing I did was go to ao3, which, again, while not indicative of the fandom as a whole, is still large and worth looking at. These three under filters should’ve been my first clue that this was going to be abysmal

8.4k m/m fics. f/f isn’t even half of that. Now, when I saw this, I was disappointed but not surprised, and I stupidly saw the F/M being more popular and thinking “Oh right cuz Leon x female reader people are annoying” (keep this in mind for like two paragraphs later)

Anyway, I filtered it to only contain f/f pairings, so I could see which pairings were the most popular, and I genuinely had no idea. After all, most of the games in the series barely have women interact at all, so like, were people shipping Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine in 2000 because they were the only two female protagonists (who had also appeared in two games), even though they’d never interacted? Did the remakes and recent movies instill people with a love for Claire x Rebecca like I enjoyed? Or did we circle back to the late 90s due to the remakes of 2 and 3 where Claire and Jill were protagonists of big re games and thus people wanted to ship them?

In my foolish decision to think about, you know the main characters of the series that spawn multiple games and are iconic staples of the series’ existence as a whole, I forgot one thing: people on the internet are horny first, and human beings second

Ngl, considering that I’d made multiple posts bitching about this very phenomenon, I was more than a little peeved, and also felt dumb for having forgotten about this. So first I decided to filter out the character tag “reader” and-

Um. I mean. What I meant to say, was that I then filtered out all of the relationships that just came from re8 “fans” being horny. Then I was left with this

So out of THAT list of ten ships, only six of them were actually f/f, the most popular having 120 fics and the least popular having 38. If you don’t feel like scrolling back up, there were 3913 fics in the re tag which were tagged with f/f

So I think, generally, that Claire/Jill is the most popular re f/f ship, at least in the ao3 community. Case closed, right?

Wrong. Now I had to see if that was actually true. Because if I know one thing about re writers, it’s that they include f/f as an afterthought or some background bs to a fic focused on a m/m ship

So I counted, and I did my best to split all fics where Claire/Jill were tagged into three types: background, focused, and given equal focus between them and one or more pairings. Some didn’t really fit, like fics that were just a collection of one shots (or more commonly, collection of short smuts) but those I also left out of the Claire/Jill focused count, because they weren’t focused on them. So after going through all 141 (yup that’s really all the Claire/Jill ships there are) fics, here’s the number I ended up with

82 fics where they were the focus ship

14 fics where they were given equal focus between one or more pairings

The rest (45) were neither

Not gonna lie, I was pretty relieved to see that fics where they were the focus was more than half of the total. And as I went further back, more fics focused on Claire/Jill as opposed to having them be a background ship. Also, for fun, I checked the ratings for Claire/Jill fics

And although I didn’t cross reference, I did generally notice a lot more of the fics focused on Claire/Jill were smut first, and fluff secondarily. Most of them too were also either one chapter (complete or incomplete) or generally just short. If a fic had many chapters/high word count, Claire/Jill almost always wasn’t the main ship, and sometimes shared the spotlight with another ship.

So is this reflective of the whole fandom? No, of course not. Is this indicative of a major problem with the fandom not caring about female characters? Yeah, literally all social media is indicative of it.

It’s not like the media itself is incredibly feminist, or full of meaningful character interactions between anyone, regardless of genders, it’s just not good at it and not really trying to be. But I will say that at large, the fandom does seem to prioritize m/m relationships, platonic or romantic, over female characters existences, their relationships to men, and fuck off if you think they care about relationships between women.

I do have a separate post coming about the lack of interactions between women in the media itself, but that’s for another day

My review of DnD: Honor Among Thieves:

Tl;dr: overall I liked it -I was side eying a lot of the dragon arc. Also, surprisingly- needed more magic. Druids are full casters, Bards are full casters, Paladins are half casters! Did Holga even rage?

Also I fully thought Simon was secretly an artificer actually, for 1/3 of the movie.

For a movie it was good fun. I enjoyed that it didn’t take itself too seriously, and the characters felt like dnd characters yet in a good way? Which is really hard to do without it becoming too campy and while I like camp not everyone does. The story was simple but fitting, because it felt like a dnd campaign. In terms of character and story it was pretty spot on. Except one thing, more bisexuality needed.

Now for the cons (aka DnD nerd nitpicks DnD movie the for #1,000,057th time)-

As a lifeline fan on DnD, both the game and the settings most especially Faerûn -I was introduced to to Faerûn when I was like 8 folkx. My dad played 3.5 and maybe even earlier additions. I have many 3.5 books and have played a little of that edition, 4th, and quite a bit of 5th. I watch so much rpg and dnd specifically actual plays and I criticize them and love them. And criticize the critics. So. Where were the classes? Where was the lore? What is best boy Xenk a Paladin of?? It doesn’t have to be a god, but tbh, imo not having gods is a fucking waste! It’s Faerûn! Faerûn is drowning in gods, sometimes literally! Throw a rock and you’ll unearth some gods bs. Was Mystra, goddess of magic and more importantly bffs/gf/child/it’s very complicated of Elminster “what if I became a woman? And enjoyed it! Again!” Aumar even mentioned? (Yea mfers I read DnD books. And wikis!) (also reminder he is Simons great-great-great(?) grandfather, so the opportunity was there)

Also, I know that Tieflings can be typical skin tones or whatever. However two things 1) why did she have elf ears? Two… damn those parents where whimps she coulda passed for human, or part elven very, very easily. Also I’m sry but total waste to make her look like tiefling Keyleth CR. Give her some weird color, even if it’s just like blue freckles or something. Next-ly , when the soldiers are chasing her I guess I could accept she rolled a nat one. Multiple times. But how did they know she was a she? And why call her a “wild shape” and not a “Druid”. Bc calling her a wild shape, like shouting “Wild shape!” While chasing her? it… it Was. A bit. Weird. Moving oon…

More egregious was the strange lack of magic, when there’s was also so much magic. Half of Simons spells are from strange little objects, which is why I thought he might be a secret artificier or maybe multiclassed. For a minute I thought he was an eldritch trickster! However that’s relatively minor -actually I was a little disappointed he wasn’t an artificer, because they are cool and I love strange little magic devices and trinkets. Which, in comparison to no one else using magic except to become trademark animals and many non trademarked ones. Why would they not want people to know that druids, and bards, AND paladins, HAVE MAGIC?!? Don’t tell me they are too low level. I saw Xenk fight! Paladin Yendar is at least level 7. At least! (Maybe 6… but 7 is already a stretch tbh.) The rest? Bards have magic at level one, as do druids. And Druid Doric the Wild Shape was at least level 5 herself thank you. So no! Rejected, they where mid ranged level at least! Where’s the magic! Hmm!?

Imho they could have solved this several ways. (You can choose whichever combination you prefer). 1. Instead of uh, Bard (looks up his name) Edgin (lol) Darvis make him a mastermind Rogue or something. 2. If not, have him do spells but when Simon points it out everyone is like “no but that’s different because it’s music magic. Duh”. 3. Same thing for Doric, “no she can’t do it because she only has nature magic. It’s different”. 4. Hilariously, make Doric also terrible at casting spells. 5. I wanted Holga to rage more. I’m sry. Fighters can do everything she did and idc. Make it look magic or something. 6. Same with Xenk. Where was the brandishing his holy symbol and doing some magic? Bc I was like “wait is he just a high level fighter? Or rogue/fighter” (Which would have been funny to me) (ok I checked. He casts a spell on his sword once. Which I missed completely. Makes no difference to my point. Eldritch knight or trickster could do similar)

So that’s my review. If you made it this far good job. Tbh, I think I just know too much about Dnd, because otherwise I quite enjoyed this movie. I kinda hope they make more of them, so the studios better fucking learn to respect their workers and negotiate.

PS: Maybe we could do without the fat jokes next time. Or ever again.

PPS: srsly they better learn to negotiate. Because we have we have other options and I can watch countless actual plays for thousands of hours. And waiting the strike out so long people are starting to lose housing and probably worse? Well, there’s plenty of creator owned projects to provide more support to instead. (TBC- I mean if you can do that anyway but, like stop giving the assholes the support and distribute those funds to the creators)

Like. The thing with adding new aspects to a character, esp 4 seasons in, is that it 1. has to make sense for the character and 2. fit in with existing canon. Take buck begins for example. That ep made everything about buck up to that point make sense, you understood exactly why buck is the way he is and reacts/acts the way he does, etc. And it all fits in with the existing canon, it doesn't alter it. It adds to it, and it brings a deeper understanding to the character. Carlos hiding a secret marriage to iris is the literal opposite of that bc that doesn't make sense for the character, and it fucks with and fundamentally alters the already established canon both re characters and plotlines/arcs. It's a complete retcon for bs/cheap drama sake and THAT'S what people take an issue with. So for tim to NOT understand that is fucking baffling on so many levels, and to then shit on/argue with fans for their reaction to his bad writing is just such a bad look. Anyway, sorry for the rant lol

We’re talking about a legal and financial designation that has major consequences on many different aspects of life. It’s not something you just forget.

Now, at the very beginning of a relationship? Okay, sure, I can see keeping something like this to yourself, especially when it’s complicated and it’s personal. But as soon as you start getting serious with someone about the future? As soon as you reach a point where your partner is making decisions about their life, their finances, their future—decisions where your own legal and financial status becomes directly relevant because it will impact them—you cannot in good faith allow the person you claim to love to make those decisions when they’re operating under such a severe misapprehension. It’s a complete removal of agency, it’s a huge breach of trust, and it, frankly, demonstrates a lack of respect, none of which are hallmarks of a good relationship.

Idk, maybe it’s just because I’m a queer adult who has had to think seriously about things like taxes and assets and estate planning and advance directives and financial management and has also had to think about the pros and cons and issues that arise when you bring up those things in a relationship (before and after marriage) and the different choices you can make to protect yourself, but I just…it’s a big deal. And going into that blind because your partner has lied to you about something as fundamental as whether they’re legally responsible for a whole other person who isn’t you is a big deal. Tbh I don’t think I could continue being in a relationship with someone who had done that to me, no matter how much I loved them—that’s how big of a deal it is. And that’s what I’m reacting to, and what I imagine most other people (and especially most other adults) who are reacting negatively to this plot are reacting to. That it’s something so familiar and that touches so many aspects of real life that it’s too hard to just suspend disbelief and shrug it off and say sure it’s nbd.

dg IS a kpop idol right? with how often dg is shown as a fighter in lookism especially in the latest chapters, i think we often forget his roots as a kpop idol, mainly bc ptj hasn’t really developed much about dg for good reason! dg’s backstory is like a spicy little secret rn to be revealed over time and i am a sucker for that honestly. 

now imagine dg with a comeback like this. y’all know how he’s been depicted like an angel lately right? so in my head when i think of ‘dg discography’ i think debut dg was like bad boy visuals era (possibly with the anime style red hair? a reflection of james lee era even?), and then he turned Swag with the times (our first glimpse at dg in the webtoon, so debut dg but in pink), and now we have current dg with angel symbolisms with the lighting and stuff (to juxtapose demon gun bc that face still fucking haunts me but shh we’re not talking about gun rn).

angel dg fits the current kpop visual aesthetic but think about it: dg with the most angelic face ever, singing about some kind of sweet temptation. you would think he’s singing about seduction as in lust or whatever, but no. it’s crime. the devil by the window whispering in his ear is charles choi and/or the life he lived as james lee.

iirc the main reason dg wants charles choi dead or at least gone is bc charles choi has dirt on him killing someone even tho that someone is still unknown right? which suggests that even though dg is still out committing crimes, he seems to be ashamed of what he’s done? for me it seems like he’s constantly bouncing back and forth between “help me hide the body” (deals with eugene) and “please expose me so i don’t have to deal with this alone” (telling daniel about things) so he’s like. kind of a loser in that regard ngl

which brings us back to demon gun juxtaposition (unfortunately). gun’s been to juvie aight. man’s done a lot of bad, unlawful shit. but you know what he is that dg isn’t about all of this? it’s honest. gun’s the guy who beats people up with 0 shame bc he likes fighting? and that’s what makes gun one of the best people to fight dg and vice versa because in terms of fighting mentality they kind of mirror each other: you have kang ‘please fix things’ dagyeom, and park ‘i can make things worse��� jonggun.

I’m avoiding scrolling the stranger things tag freely just yet as I don’t want to be spoiled. Bae and I are enjoying the (re-, for him)watch together. That said, I wanna rank my top 10 favorite characters and my least favorites after finishing season 2. Mainly because I’m not sure exactly who is where on that list just yet; I have a general vibe.

1.) Will and Hopper. I genuinely cannot put one higher than the other without fucking up the rest of the list; but I’ve adored Will since the first season (imagine my heartbreak he was barely in it LMAOOO.) His actor’s rent was past due in season 2; I still can’t believe how powerful his performance was. Also, it’s not a pity favorite; I think despite everything Will suffers, he still retains a sweet nature. He’s truly endearing. As for Hopper, he is such an interesting goddamn character. Not even in just an angsty cop who is well intentioned kind of way. He is genuinely good with people because of his own painful past. I also love how quick his brain moves, and then his body follows. Bro should move his lips faster though to communicate so he doesn’t get stuck again 😬

2.) Dustin is my boy. If Will and Hopper weren’t such integral plot players, he would be my #1. Despite not having the biggest roles in the plot (unless I’m already forgetting things,) he consistently has my partner and I rolling over his quips and moments. He is so earnest, AND UNDERRATED IN THE FACT HE’S AN ALL ROUNDER. He planned and executed his Demo-dog baby trap all on his own, and the scene where he meets with Steve and they begin the plot to lure the Demo-dog is golden. He has too many gold scenes, and he is a tired boy who continues to try despite. Good ass character.

3.) Eleven. Her character story and arcs have been WILD, but this girl is three things minimum: a survivor, independent, and determined. It’s been amazing watching this girl pick up on survival skills very quickly and how she decides to come back to defend whom she loves instead of festering in her justifiable anger in the end. Also, her and Hopper’s dynamic is PEAK from conflict to resolution. She’s not my absolute fave because let’s face it; she’s still a little awkward socially. She’s funny unintentionally tho.

4.) Lukas. He consistently has good sense, and I find his character charming and funny most times he’s on screen. I also find his slingshot cool af, and I think he handles the BS goes through pretty well. I also find most of his interactions with the other characters endearing and sincere. I LOVE his dynamic and nicknames with Maxine.

5.) Maxine. Even though I adore her, there are other cast members I’ve attached to more. Her character makes complete sense to me, and I love how she bites back despite how rough it’s been. She’s pretty chill, and I want to see more of her. She has potential to be my favorite.

6.) Nancy. She’s been a main instigator for the plot, somehow a flawed perfect in a good way, AND she’s the gunman in the party. Also, she danced with Dustin. I’d study with her. She’s only not higher bc the party scene with Steve kinda sucked, and she pressured both Jonathan and Barbara to go to parties with downer results (Jonathon having to drive her home, Barbara literally d-wording, Steve getting berated, etc.)

7.) Kali would be higher on this list if she had been around a little longer, but she’s up there. I loved her episode with Eleven, and I think her character with her found family is classic and fitting.

8.) moral scientist CEO that takes over after Brenner kicks the bucket (forgot his name.) He’s naturally charismatic, despite being the lead of a shady business. His banter with the main cast is always refreshing, and I appreciate how he treated Will and Bob. Also, he is a very patient man with very stressed characters. All around beige flag dude.

9.) Florence at the sheriff’s office never misses. Always knows what’s up without knowing and she supports Hopper. W

10.) Karen. She means well for her kids, albeit she NEVER knows what going on bro. She does okay despite having basically an emotionally absent partner.

Least Faves:

1.) Ted. It infuriates me how inattentive this dude is to his own kids. I was SO glad Dustin called him out to his face. Like at least be funny??? HE IS SO AWKWARD.

2.) Joyce, which pains me, because I LOVE Winona Ryder, and she is NAILING this role. But I cannot STAND how neglectful Joyce is of Jonathan compared to Will. I cannot have had a worse introduction to a character when you yell at your other son for HELPING WITH THE BILLS, and then getting onto him for not watching over his brother. Don’t play with me about oldest sibling shit. Also, her helicopter parenting of Will is justified after everything that happens season 1, but it’s just stifling. I also do not like how she demands the people around her to fix her problems and bend to her will when she’s powerless otherwise. AGAIN, I do not blame her for being a very caring mother, but I still remember that scene with Hopper where she uses his dead daughter against him. I know it’s even crazier to have her higher on this list instead of Billy or the other abusive fucks in this show, but 1.) most of the latter will not even be acknowledged by me because I hate them and invalidate their experience 2.) billy just got introduced and I’m praying there is a character arc somewhere because he has POTENTIAL, even if it’s as a villain and finally 3.) she’s BEEN here. She’s been hysterical for 79% of her character arcs; the most chill she’s been was when she was getting laid (THANK GOD) or it was a holiday. I just wish she could like, have faith? Or maybe give credit where it is due to the people helping her.

3.) Billy. Fuck him for directing his anger towards Maxine, but I understand dude has home issues. Also, I have yet to see if his violence towards Lukas is a hate crime or if it’s another reason. That’s not something I can easily write off even if he ends up being more likable, if it was the former. I’m attempting to keep my mind open about him.
