Traditionally, Red Packets (红包) are handed out by married couples. They’re typically given to elders like grandparents and parents, as well as single adults and kids. Giving red packets is about spreading goodwill and wishing others good fortune. It’s a meaningful gesture, but don’t stress yourself out trying to hit a certain amount – it’s the thought that counts. Resist the urge to tear open your ang bao in front of everyone. It’s considered bad manners to count cash in public. Instead, save the excitement for when you’re back home – privacy makes it all the sweeter!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s the lowdown: avoid any amount with the number four – it’s traditionally linked to death and bad luck. So steer clear of $4, $14, or $44 red packets unless you want some awkward stares. On the flip side, eight is the superstar of numbers! It’s considered super lucky because it sounds like “fa,” which means wealth in Chinese. That’s why amounts like $8, $18, or $88 are crowd favourites. Oh, and one more tip: stick to even numbers for your ang baos. The Chinese believe “good things come in pairs,” so it’s an easy way to make your gesture extra auspicious!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ang Pau (red envelope, red packet) or Hong Bao (红包) would have been the highlight of Chinese New Year until you progressed from being a receiver to a giver. Now these red packets can become a chore, especially when you have to allocate a good amount for your relatives, friends’ or neighbours’ children. So, what’s the appropriate amount of money to give away in each packet during Chinese New Year? Giving too little might leave a bitter taste in someone’s mouth; giving too much could also be a faux pas. If you’ve never done this before or are still struggling to understand the general amount to give, here’s a simple guide. This is simply a general guide so you have an idea of what to expect; how much you give can vary depending on your family and your financial situation.

Early-morning rambling. 😅
Imagine how painstakingly the staff have created these realistic-looking sets that are mostly composed of miniatures (only to be destroyed once the action scenes start rolling), and I appreciate their hard work, patience, and artistic eye. Kudos to them for "unleashing their imagination" to build these amazing sets.
Except the Ultraman Ace one, the ones in this post are all small-scale film sets, which have been Tsuburaya's hallmark. They're seen not only in Ultra series but in its other shows as well.
There are sets that instantly caught my eye - beautiful, eye-catching, and iconic ones that have stuck on my mind ever since.
Here are only a few favorites (at least only from the series I've seen):
Tumblr media
Ultraman Ace (Eps. 13-14) - On the Planet Golgotha. It's like an outer space "passion play." Classic!
Tumblr media
Ultraman Arc (Ep. 8) - Really cute and eye-popping virtual realm, I love it! The entire episode has the makings of a modern Ultra series classic.
Tumblr media
Ultraman Dyna (Ep. 8) - This angle in particular of the beautiful elevated rice fields - they look peaceful in contrast to the "playful" skirmish between Dyna and Bao-on haha. Goofy and silly kaiju.
Tumblr media
Ultraman Gaia (Ep. 19) - I love those glowing colorful lights at the amusement park. Ultraman Tiga also has an "amusement park" episode but I think it would have looked better at nighttime.
Tumblr media
Ultraman Cosmos (Ep. 8) - Cosmos battles Inculas in its dreamworld, which looks appropriately whimsical, like you're in an illustration of a fairytale book. But it has creepy vibes, too.
Tumblr media
Ultraman Gaia (Ep. 25) - Part 1 of the two-parter episode, in particular. The vast and open outdoor space of sparse vegetation, swirling dust, and windmills - these elements somewhat remind me of Western movie fight scenes. The perfect setting for a classic showdown like this.
Sometimes, I can't help wondering whether it's easier and more economical to use the "green screen" to make these sets, citing the advanced technology today. However, I'm glad that Tsuburaya has carried on in making these sets - it's like a tradition. Nowadays, they combine the traditional physical sets with CGI, which is wonderful.
All credits go to Tsuburaya Productions.

MY OCS 3
My “Minor Circuit OCs” and my “Major Circuit OCs.”
THESE ARE THE CHAMPIONS BABYYY.
Tumblr media
Kally O’Leiry
Real name: Bitch McPudding Kally O’Leiry
Height: 5’8’
Weight: 165 lbs
Age: 25
Favorite food: raw cookie dough (what you thought I was gonna say something stereotypical like Irish stew, nah bro. But she also likes shepherd’s pie)
THIS BITCH CRAZY. She is inspired off of a *certain character from Punch Out we can all guess who* tell me your guess in the comments
(in the photo, she’s probably running off to slash someone’s tires)
Kally O’Leiry has a 14 year old little brother named Connor. No, she doesn’t live with him  thank god because poor little Connor doesn’t need to be involved in her bullshit.
Ok so basically
Kally O’Leiry is short tempered, sneaky, manipulative, and will do whatever it takes to win and get her way.
She’s a dirty fighter (like Yours Truly ™), she will bring an old boxing glove tied to a rope into the ring (sound familiar?) and she’ll also  *checks notes* hit anywhere (including below the belt) and engages in unsportsmanlike conduct.
She’s a mix of Harley Quinn, Rayne from 90 day fiance and YOU-KNOW-WHO
She also spread rumors about Imani being AMAB
Ling Chi
Real name: Jiaoxing Ling (凌娇星)
Height: 4’11’
Weight: 109 lbs
Age: 29
Favorite food: Dim sum and Xiao long bao (you’d think my half Chinese ass would’ve listed more than just the basic bish Chinese dishes)
Ling Chi is a boxer and mixed martial artist from China.
She grew up watching Kung fu action movies but later decided boxing is what she wanting to do. Aside from boxing and karate, she also likes to cosplay and lift weights. Her boxing style is a mix of traditional Chinese martial arts and modern boxing techniques. She may be small but she is extremely powerful. She’s like a tornado in the ring!
Butch Babe
Real name: Karen Stryker
Height: 5’9
Weight: 167 lbs
Age: 31
Favorite food: A good ole T bone steak
Karen “Butch Babe” Stryker is a female bodybuilder from Australia. She quit bodybuilding and got into boxing at 27.  I would’ve drawn her lifting weights but Gacha doesn’t have a dumbbell prop >:(
(Also she probably does steroids.)
Just like macho man, she’s very cocky, flashy and aggressive. She’s kinda  like those butterfly derby chicks from futurama
Being a female bodybuilder, you can see why she’s in the World Champion league.
Imani
Real name: Imani Stevens
Height: 5’11’
Weight: 170 lbs
Age: 30
Favorite food: Extra spicy goat curry
Imani is a Jamaican female boxer. She is a bit of mysterious person but boxing has been her passion ever since she was a young girl. She has even boxed against male boxers twice and won.
(She did have one lost and it was against a male boxer so that’s a total of 3 times she’s boxed with men so she had them not count that loss.)
There is also some rumors that she takes steroids but nope, she’s just super strong and has been training since she was 13. Just like Sandman, boxing is her life.

get to know me tag!
thank you for the tag @blackbird-brewster!
three ships i like: jemily (duh), jarontiss (will/jj/emily), and jenelope. honestly, i like most of the cm ships, but there are a few really out-there ones that just aren't for me
first ship ever: ooh, this is hard. i remember reading fanfiction on ff.net on my 3ds as a kid at least as early as 2013/14, but i can't quite remember which was my very first one. toss-up between castle/beckett (castle), bones/booth (bones), wolfstar (h*rry p*tter). or maybe stampy/sqaishey (minecraft youtube) lmao
last song i heard: cruel summer - taylor swift
favourite childhood book: unforch i was a harry potter kid. i read the whole series five times. i feel like there were other books i liked to read and reread, but i can't think of any of them
currently reading: a day of fallen night by samantha shannon. i just finished rereading the priory of the orange tree for book club, so i'm reading the prequel but it's very slow-going
currently watching: haha i'm never watching anything, ilowkey haven't watched a show in years. i'm watching a lot of asmr videos on youtube though
currently consuming: this question is kind of vague, so i can answer it in a few ways. i've been consuming a lot of jemily fanfiction recently. i'm also playing papa's freezeria and trying to 100% the game (get every customer to a gold star rating). i'm playing a lot of taylor swift quizzes on sporcle too
currently craving: hmm... shawarma. tteokbokki. sandwich from this really good but kind of expensive bao place. spicy crab rolls from the convenience story on campus. egg salad+avocado croissant sandwich also from the campus convenience store.
no pressure tags: @ssaemhotchner @mxmmyprentiss

Was bored at work so… here are my rankings of all KOTOR 1 & 2 ships with more than 1 fic on AO3, with commentary.
KOTOR 1
1: Revan/Malak
“The apprentice has learned his final lesson.”
Peers to war criminals to Sith mentor & apprentice to enemies to strangers (??). It’s so good. Insert romance at any point and it’s going to be delicious.
2: Revan/Bastila
Did not expect it to be so high, but I guess forcebond romance got me. The melding of minds really does it for me. I do find I like the concept of it more than the actual execution (some of those romance dialogues are soooo 2000’s, in a bad way).
3: Canderous/Revan
“I’m your man until the end, Revan, no matter how this plays out.”
Sentences that changed the course of humanity. Those two have so much history. The mutual respect!! The tragedy!!! I especially love the line from Kreia to Mandalore is Revan was female and dark-sided: “Do you wonder where she wanders now, Mandalore? Why she cast you down, left you broken, at the edge of the galaxy?” guhhhhhh
4: Belaya/Juhani
Cute, and I love the fact that Belaya can become a Sith if you kill Juhani.
5: Juhani/Revan
Another go at “loving the champion”, which I enjoy it a little less than Atris/Exile (but enjoy nonetheless). I cannot imagine what went on Juhani’s head when Revan’s identity was revealed, but it’s bound to be delicious.
6: Carth/Canderous
“Nice speech. I bet you tell yourself that every night so you can sleep.”
I wish this was more popular. Their banter was rather enjoyable and I love enemies to lovers. Could even span into K2 with them communicating through Mical (lol). You can also add them both being left behind by Revan and bonding about that.
7: Carth/Revan
“You were born out of the loop.”
I never actually completed this romance and I’m not particularly fond of it. But the dark side ending seems pretty cool.
8: Carth/Bastila
Both are so high-strung and responsible, this would probably never happen barring some sort of space sex pollen scenario. That’s exactly why I want to see it.
9: Canderous/Bastila
Never considered this but I’m so intrigued. The Jedi princess and her questionable decisions…
10: HK-47/Revan
Hmmm…
11: Juhani/Bastila
Seems unlikely.
12: Revan/Mission
Yeah no.
13: Carth/Wife
There’s basically nothing.
14: Yuthura/Revan
It’s so low not because I don’t like it, but because Bastila/Yuthura wasn’t on the list and it’s so much better.
Multi (also ordered from most to least liked):
Malak/Carth/Revan: Revan between her old and new romance, also the funniest possible thing to ever play out in front of Saul Carath.
Carth/Canderous/Revan: Revan and her lapdogs :3
Malak/Revan/Bastila: the evil throuple.
Juhani/Revan/Bastila: the lesbian troubled Jedi throuple. Honestly, would prefer them bonding as friends.
Carth/Bastila/Revan: pretty milquetoast and somehow less than the sum of its parts.
KOTOR 2
1: Exile/Atton
“You'll be right here with me, playing pazaak, where they can't reach you.”
They honestly have my heart, the perfect couple in that they’re anything but perfect. There’s so many ways this can go, so many ways Exile can redeem Atton or make him worse. The pathetic flirting. The yearning. The self-sacrifice. Everywhere they go, he follows. They fill a hole in his heart—is that good or bad?
2: Atris/Exile
Atris is one of my favorites, and the tragic love for the Exile is such a good addition to her character. Toxic exes, except the Exile seems kind of unaffected… meanwhile Atris is plotting her demise while clutching her old lightsaber to her chest. Delicious!
3: Bao-Dur/Exile
“Your command echoes still, General. And I obey, as I did at Malachor V.”
Beautiful, haunting romance, made all the more tragic with how Bao-Dur just disappears for the last act. Forever heartbroken about them.
4: Exile/Kreia
“There is no truth in the Force. But there is truth in you, Exile.”
Love treacherous mentors, especially those as who can articulate their affection as beautifully as Kreia.
5: Exile/Mical
“Your muscle tone looks good, you response time seems excellent, and I see nothing that would otherwise impair your health. You have the same vitality about you that you seem to possess, no matter what the circumstances.”
In a vacuum, this is boring, but I replayed K2 recently and the fact that Mical could’ve been the Exile’s apprentice is… interesting. Even wrote a fic about it. Once I write fic about something, I’ll always have a soft spot for it.
6: Brianna/Exile
Yes, Brianna, please abandon your cult and break all your vows for the Exile <3
7: Exile/Visas
“Where they look at you and see the death of the Force, I look at you and see hope for all life.”
It’s sweet.
8: Brianna/Visas
There’s criminally little fic of them? I might have to write my own.
9: Atris/First Handmaiden
There are exactly 2 fics of them, both written by the same user, but I approve wholeheartedly: Atris should kiss more women. Like do we think they ever got cabin fever in the polar academy.
10: Exile/Sion
Exile/Atton at home... but this dynamic is compelling too.
11: Arren/Yusanis
We know next to nothing of them, but adhering to the Arren Kae = Kreia theory, I love the battle couple image this invokes.
12: Brianna/Atton
Listen. Hear me out… just listen… This would be so dysfunctional and so hot…
13: Exile/Luxa
A hot bisexual woman flirts with me and I do as she asks. Simple as.
14: Mical/Atton
Ehhh…
15: Exile/Kavar
A ship that seemed to be surprisingly popular... then I realized most if not all fics were written by the same person. Respect.
16: Brianna/Mira
I can see them getting along and wish we saw more of that in the game.
17: Brianna/Mical
They don’t even interact in the game, but I can see it. Liking the jock/nerd dynamic and especially the fact that it sort of reverses—after all, Mical is a soldier, and Brianna will become a Jedi historian in the future.
18: Bao-Dur/Visas
Cute.
19: Visas/Mira
Brought them to the tomb of Freedon Nadd once, and Mira warned Visas against interacting with the Dark side energy. It was cute enough.
20: Exile/Mira
There’s so many Exile ships I can see happening but not this one. Like the vision is just not there.
21: Visas/Nihilus
Not safe, sane, or consensual… of course there’s fic of them.
22: Exile/Revan
I’ve never been that interested in Revan/Exile. Perhaps because both of them are essentially OCs, and it’s hard to pin the dynamic down.
23: Malak/Exile
Why this has fics at all is sort of beyond me.
Multi:
Bao-Dur/Exile/Atton: I mean, who could possibly choose between those two…
Exile/Visas/Atton: ah yes, the Exile and those two who’ll always approve of them no matter what, who’ll happily do their bidding in any case.
Malak/Revan/Exile: somehow this concept just fails to interest me.

Unknown Live Blogging
I loveeeeee a younger pursuer character, especially when they've known each other for a while and the older is just like I love you kid (platonic/familial) while the younger is losing their mind with their crush/love/lust. Also, the fact that the novel it's adapted from is literally called Da Ge 大哥 ah, I've gotten more into adoptive or step-brothers trope since I got into live-action BL but I've only just watched Addicted/Stay With Me and Kiseki: Dear to Me 2nd couple, so it's exciting to add another one to the list.
This is also a novel from China that's being adapted in Taiwan so that they don't have to censor it, right? There are several other BLs currently in the works like this.
Anyway, seems like people really like this show (not counting the sex scene in ep 11 or something because I heard so much complaining about that lol), so my hopes are high.
Ep 1 (June 13)
ahhh crazy start/glimpse into future
starts when they're young but have been living together a while already
ahhhh trying to take care of things/the family/his ge by paying the bills using his gift money + some part time job maybe. isn't quite a grownup yet but he wants to be so bad
2007 - when they first met
oh fuck the child being hit with the metal pipe was scary and unexpected
oh man, Qian getting embroiled with gangs and doing their dirty work for money
oof, gonna have to win 3 boxing matches to leave the gang
Ep 2 (June 13)
the teacher saying an older brother is like a father
not them ganging up on Xiao Bao!
dang, Qian's mother hated him because he did well, that's wild
Qian is so attractive like woah
we've reached current year - 2016
Ep 3 (June 13)
Yuan to the rescue
Bao and Yuan's dynamic is so cuteee
damn, Qian mad as hell at Xiao Bao's outfit and it has a bit of the "proprietary" thing that so many father-daughter older brother-younger sister dynamics have (in media at least) but also most importantly it reminds him of their mother who they are both very traumatized by
I'm so nervous, I hope nothing bad happens to Xiao Bao (esp because we know this world has like gangsters and stuff)
Is this guy part of the gangsters? Does he know who Xiao Bao is?
Yuan recognizes the gangster oh no
Sam Lin as doctor, though I must say I would not recognize him if I wasn't already aware of this
sharing a bed
studying abroad mentioned
I don't wanna read thoughts of r/boyslove or look for gifsets on tumblr, I just wanna get to the next episode.
It feels like since they both scold/get upset at Xiao Bao in an attempt to protect her, she's not gonna retain any of the reasons they're worried about her but rather maybe rebel and end up in troublesome situations. please no rape storyline though plsplspls
Ep 4 (June 14)
Yuan's 18th birthday? adult Yuan alright
pls Qian thinking that Xiao Bao's saying Yuan watches porn
it's romantic stuff but is it yaoi/BL? because the one Sweet Summer or whatever novel seemed to be two guys on the cover?
Qian kinda reminds me of Na Jaemin (my NCT bias when I was into them) from some angles
I will forever love helping something with feet, whether it be shoelace tying, giving a massage/a foot bath, or now taking care of an ankle/foot injury. it's not even a foot kink, it's just... idek like lowering oneself... in aid of the other... taking care of them...
Yuan definitely doesn't wanna hear about them seperating and liking other people
this kiss must be in Yuan's imagination
so I guess Qian doesn't suspect Yuan's feelings toward him at all + also doesn't return the feelings (yet + he might be unconsciously feeling something but it's not as intense as Yuan's feelings). However, I'm unclear on whether he thinks Yuan likes boys? Like he saw Yuan's romance novel with 2 boys + asking about the high school class monitor...
Ep 5 (June 14)
I knew this was a daydream because of the dreamy filter + I kinda remember some post on reddit about Yuan's daydream but if I was watching this in real time, I would've lost my shit
oh oh my god okay. "Ge, do you already know that I like guys?" extremely forward and sudden, I wasn't expecting it
ahhh, I can't watch this, it's so T.T. like ik it's very Uncle Jim to Liming, looking out for their young(er) nephew/brother because being gay openly isn't easy but like T.T still
What year is this? 2016 right? while gay marriage became legal in Taiwan in 2019
I love a "it's my business who i like, not yours" or whatever
ah, Qian's nice to Yuan again, he likes gives him a little lecture but isn't like actually homophobic
Xiao Bao turns 18 too
damn, what's up with Qian? head hurts?
pls the colleague (is that San Pang? yeah right?) running into Qian's room to see him and Yuan in bed sleeping and cuddling and being like... hm
pls Qian himself being like "it's not what it looks like" before the other guy even says what it looks like
QIAN WHY ARE YOU TELLING HIM THAT YUAN LIKES GUYS?!
omg San Pang now coming over to talk to Yuan
pls I know why he's asking but the way he's talking about where Xiao Bao sleeps and where he sleeps like hey ! stop
that's her literal brother and they have no parents, I think it's fine if Xiao Bao climbs into her Dage's bed to sleep occasionally lmfao
oh I guess he was talking about Xiao Bao sleeping in Yuan's bed. whelp he'd have a point in that case I guess becuase Yuan def can like these siblings lol he just happens to not like the sister
pls Xiao Bao wants San Pang to ask about her, so whenever he talks about Yuan and Qian the way her eyes roll so hard that her whole head rotates, so funny
not the office fujos Noticing and Observing lol
ahh, Yuan's inner turmoil seeing his "future sister-in-law"
ah, San Pang straight up asking if the one Yuan likes is Qian
I just wanna know when the confession is gonna happen, is it gonna be next ep? because Yuan also has to go abroad (though I don't think that time skip takes too much airtime from what I've read). I want some stuff to happen after confession + after getting together too.
Ep 6 (June 14)
I wonder what role San Pang will play like will he help them figure it out or hinder all the way through? they're kinda hinting him with Lili, so he can't possibly be a "bad guy." I get him dissuading them now or giving them reasons why they shouldn't but once they do, I assume he'll be okay with it at least
"Don't tell me that guy also has some?" oh Qian
Qian feeling pity for Yuan and being like why do you have to like him... oh Qian, oh Yuan
aklsdfjalksdf ahhh Yuan about to me a drunken mess at this important work function plssss I'm nervous. but also... does the confession happen when Yuan's drunk? Is it gonna happen this ep?
Feng Ning is so cool I love her. if Yuan does anything that upsets her I'll get mad at him im negl
oh omg I have an image in my mind of when Yuan confesses maybe and it was not in this outfit and they were also maybe sitting, so the i like you and attempted kiss was like oh!
It also stressed me out that they're still at work
woahhh it hurts so good the way Qian not only punched Yuan but also didn't stop to care for his wounded hand
ahhh Qian avoiding Yuan and the home entirely
studying abroad plan on
Aw, Xiao Bao who is like ? wtf is going on, why are my brothers fighting and also Yuan literally going to NY
is that Yuan sitting on the floor with his paper on his face and crying? yes, same sweater stripes
The angst is done well. The situation must happen (I was anticipating the fallout from the confession so much!), it's not overdramatized (Qian reacts badly but then just avoids Yuan for the rest and Yuan tries to apologize a bunch but doesn't force anything when Qian ignores him), the acting-writing-directing are all good. I'm also liking the consequence of him moving away to a different country (for a few years?) because he's known Qian all his life and practically only talks to Qian, Lili, and sometimes people like San Pang or a classmate but he'll broaden his horizons now and it'll be less "he loves Qian because he only knows him"
Ep 7 (June 14)
damn, Qian's apparently been so apathetic that San Pang's like maybe I shouldn't made Yuan stay so that at least you wouldn't be like this
Qian's alcohol problem + his chronic headache bruh
San Pang straight up asking if Qian has feelings for Yuan too and Qian does not deny it
also it's been 2 years right? since it's 2018 now and 2017-2018 were blank for Yuan's height
Qian is truly so attractive. his face but also his mannerisms and expressions and gestures. woah. and of course my forever weakness: nice smile and there's a dimple too
2017 - 2023?! omg 6 years? that's a lot, I was expected 2-3 fr
Qian continues reading Yuan's texts but not replying to them. then impulsively calling Yuan and immediately hanging up again
first reciprocal contact in 6 years, if I was Yuan that call would've made me lose my whole entire mind fr
Bro, it's actally Qian who's losing his mind because he's sitting on Yuan's bed in Yuan's room and texting Yuan to come home if he misses it
Xiao Bao has truly become grown up model Lili
San Pang is at the office gathering, so who did she see at the door? would Yuan already be at home lmfao
ah, indeed Yuan's here lol
Yuan and Lili antics begin again, how fun
From a few Tumblr posts, I thought Lil iand San Pang's relationship was gonna get exposed? next ep i guess.
also saw some gifs that Yuan's gonna be petty toward Qian next ep and I'm so excited, how did people wait weekly for this? I can barely wait for tomorrow.
Ep 8 (June 15)
starting this around 7:30pm because I had to watch Wandee Goodday episode today. Hope I like this episode than I liked Wandee's
ah, Yuan's so bold now "Have you seen enough?"
The fact that Yuan made eye contact with Qian before handing the drink over to Xiong-ge. Qian expectantly holding out his hand but having to retreat and check afterwards that nobody else saw lmfao
It's killing me that Yuan keeps looking at the other two ges during the conversation while Qian keeps glancing at Yuan and can't keep his eyes off of him even when he tries
Yuan even thanking San Pang for making him go to the states...
the hickeys?!
Qian's incredulous look at 8:00 is really so Na Jaemin, why does he remind me so much of him
I would say Qian's slow for not catching on that they're together somehow but ig San Pang and Lili are LDR since she doesn't even live here anymore? and so Qian's not aware of it? but it's also funny to think his brain was barely working while Yuan wasn't here but managed to deduce it by glimpsing the hickeys as soon as Yuan came and Qian's brain started working again lmao
damn, Lili's literally shaking her head no, how dare San Pang make the executive decision to confess to Qian?
NOT THE BUTCHER KNIFE LMFAO
Yuan literally sitting back and eating fruits on the couch as he observes is so funny
and his smiles lmfaooo
and only inserting himself when Xiong-ge brings up Qian dating somebody else lmfao he's a menace
Yuan calling Qian as Wei Qian instead of ge is so .
Qian's mad because the two of them are dating and there's an age difference and San Pang's known Lili since she was a child and he figured it out through hickeys and he's the last to know and all those reasons but also... he's probably also mad that why isn't he with Yuan then? If those two can do it, why not him too?
Yuan knowssssss he's getting to Qian
I've seen a glimpse of a gif of Yuan feeding Qian ahh
and now that Yuan's indeed giving him his full attention at the table, Qian can't look at him
Qian's losing his mind and I along with him
Yuan's so bold now, it makes me nervous like chilllllll, move back like the way he kept walking toward Qian and nearly kissed him alksdfjla;ksfj
Yuan is suchhh a menace, the way he starting speaking loud and clear when he heard Qian at the door
my mom dragged me away right then but I'm back
plss he's talking about how he also likes somebody and both Xiao Bao and Ge know that person. lmfao. menace.
Xiao Bao reading from a script lmfaooo
Yuan truly is such a menace, sliding the family vacation into Lili's script pls
cryingggg Xiao Bao ditched the family trip to go to Milan
Yuan kept poking until Qian finally says to not keep feelings for him anymore, only to hit him back with "what makes you think i still like you?"
Yuan saying Wei Qian really does me in. "Wei Qian, don't you like Wei Zhiyuan?" was woah
agh, A'Le and gangsters next ep. hmph
I've been curious to see which other age gap older male/younger female ships I like because they usually give me major ick but I'm such a fan of age gap ships in m/m-f/f-noona romances. I think History 3: Trapped side side ship with the sister and bulter man is the only one I can think of and they barely existed lol. So I want to like San Pang and Lili, especially when she said she's the one who pursued him (I'm into that trope a lot too; like Yuan's also the younger one pursing the older one) but I wish San Pang wasn't a hypocrite/homophobe because if he's into Lili and has no problems getting with her but so disapproved and dissuaded Yuan, like the reason is homophobia yes? I wanted him to come to The Realization that Yuan liking Qian is... fine-ish when he developed feelings for Lili, not have him separate the two situations.
Tumblr media
Ep 9 (June 15)
so many things to do but I'm watching this instead, goddammit. but been a little while since i've been so eager to binge and watch next ep (Kiseki and Triage last month I think)
Also, I saw a post that had a clip from the trailer that hasn't happened yet or something and I didn't watch it but there was text about how Qian looks Yuan in the eye when he confesses... omg now I'm so excited to see when that happens. I hadn't been thinking about how they'd actually come together but a confession must happen and I'd be very happy if Qian's the one who does it this time, even more so if he's very tortured about it
oh, abroad was 4 years ago? not 6
I like Yuan's whole spiel about I can't stop liking you but this is enough
Yuan calling Qian out on his bullshit, he can't kick Yuan out again
Qian can tell when Yuan's lying/hiding something
hmm they're calling Qian the snitch and the cops came back then... I feel like Qian didn't do it since he himself was involved
when's that napkin with the poem from?
what is the plan exactly? Lin's telling Yuan to remember that Qian cares about him...
damn, Yuan left for a trip with very short notice?
"You're acting like a wife trying to catch her cheating husband" read the room, San Pang. you can't tell this to Qian who is trying to not be in love with his didi
Dr. Lin so funny. also did We Best Love have eating raw noodles? I feel like it did...
Wei Zhiyuan means "belongs to Wei"
no but what was Yuan plan actually because mans just went to their lair, asked for Le-ge and now is just getting beat up lmfao
scary, Le-ge's got bullets
please why are we doing Russian Roulette rn T.T
Can't have a bullet in there if he's doing it on himself, right? I didn't see how many bullets he put in there. or is he just fucked up in the head enough to do it anyway lol
Qian hugging Yuan in desperation
omg that napkin was literally what Yuan wrote as he thought they were his last words stuck on a mountain during his study abroad. and Qian was avoiding speaking to him during that time godddd, what a tragedy it would have been
and it's a good time to reveal that since they just did the russian roulette for e/o
I don't wanna read ppls thoughts or look at gifsets, I wanna just watch the next episode omg but I won't look at anything after ep 10 until I finish the whole thing since ep 11-12 spoilers will also be there, so I should look at stuff now.
Ep 10 (June 16)
Qian remembering everything Yuan's said and done
nose bleed...
parallels w the hair drying and cuddling to sleep, it'd be funny if san pang woke them up again
does Qian think he'll die
lmaoooooo San Pangcame but unfortunaly Qian was aklready downstairs
i knew bout this blood clot
not the i wish i could tie you up with a rope
Idk how Qian thinks he could possibly hide this from Yuan lol I'm surprised he hadn't just listened in or bothered Lin about the info
the three of them just exchanging eye contact and the focus from San Pang -> Qian with a zoom! sound effect was very funny
Yuan is so funny to San Pang lmfao he keeps being like San Pang ge thank you <3 to the point of uncomfortableness
welp indeed Yuan figured it out on his own
ah, Yuan's mad that Qian hid it from him and keeps saying he'll deal with it on its own
Qian made all of Yuan's favourites to try to win him over askdf but Yuan's still mad
Yuan taking a brief break from ignoring Qian's existence to take away greasy food/beer and give him and San Pang salad instead
San Pang once again telling Qian to consider Yuan and getting with him seriously
Did he not that he wants Yuan to have a future without him?
I think I got a little lost about what exactly led to Yuan storming out but ahhh that convo, fuck. Qian's turmoil and inner conflict and Yuan being like it's mind to deal with, not yours but Qian not being able to let Yuan go.
Ep 11 (June 16/17)
I wanna binge these last 3 eps but it's Eid so I'm busy and gotta watch the rest later. I'm really excited for this ep since it's gonna have the confession and also the sex scene but I know it made everybody fucking mad because of the editing (they had flashbacks to them as kids?) + position top/bottom implications/confusions lmfaoo
The first time Qian took initiative to grab Yuan omg
wait, we're already going into the house okay
I need a pillow or stuffed animal to dig my nails into rn omg i keep grabbing air
what was the more correct translation of "I've been waiting all my life. This isn't fast at all." that made me lose my mind when I saw it and I hadn't even been watching the show back then
"You don't even know what I dream about you at night" hah. hahahah. haha. ok
hello why are we having flashbacks to a conversation from 5 minutes in between the sex scene instead of just... being linear??? I didn't know this happened bc it got drowned out w the other complaints ig lmao
yeah, interspliced scenes we haven't seen before + flashbacks of scenes we've seen during a sex scene are already annoying but then WHY ARE THERE CHILDHOOD FLASHBACKS. this is not the time to have kids on my damn screen wtf
also I just kinda took top Yuan from that, is it top Qian in the novel or something because I feel like people mentioned that it seemed one way but it wasn't supposed to be that way? or is it because the scene where Yuan had his bare legs splayed that gave the illusion of bottom Yuan and people didn't like that? I'm so curious
domestic morning kissing, they've really come all the way here
Lili's home?!
a fight? girl lmao ig Lili's the normal sibling who's not guessing that her other siblings are fucking, biologically related or not
what is this Le/Lin scene lmao
fancy dinner date at the same gangster restaurant as always lol but apparently Qian's reserved the whole place and made it romantic
Enough angles for one kiss!
restaurant owner gang uncle just witnessing all this lmfao I think it'd be hilarious if he gossips with Le-ge about Qian and his brother kissing
fuck, this nerve and surgery stuff is so scary fr
Okay, finished the last 10 minutes while having lunch the next day because I had to leave yesterday. Good to see both Yuan and Lili care about Qian and want to take care of him and such. Qian took up smoking again in all this stress. I still don't fully get all the mom stuff beyond she thoroughly abused him.
The sex scene was like... what??? and I'm glad I was already aware of its issues because I would've gone beserk if I was watching this weekly for 10 weeks and got that in return wtf. The whole show relies on their emotions and inner conflicts but it felt like neither aspect was truly explored in the scene and made worsened with the horrific editing.
Also I can't fucking reblog but this is maybe the post I was talking about with the translation during the sex scene. Yuan's line implies he's masturbated thinking about Qian which is like the most unsurprising thing ever.
Ep 12 (June 17)
Final episode, hope it at least ends well
Lili figures it out. she's kinda upset that she's the last one to know about it, her lines remind me of when Qian found out about her and San Pang haha
but what does she wanna say, why am I nervous that she's pregnant
lol Qian liking that Yuan's trying to help him out at work
I'm suddenly embarrassed, I really can't do office romances
Xiong-ge showing support in his awkward ways is nice
hehhehe Yuan coming to pick Qian up from work dressed up so nice and Qian kissing him outside after checking nobody's around
I got stressed out by Yuan kissing Qian at work omg in broad daylight with people around
yeah the office fujo will certainly keep this a secret lol as if a bunch of them weren't already gossiping like 4 years ago or whatever
I can't handle office romances guys my body shrivels up and my toes and fingers curl, I'm so embarrassed. can the employees stop squealing about it in public. I'm so stressed out by office gossip even if it's like shippy/supportive. also the excited fujo character can sometimes work for me in high school/college shows because it's like young characters but this in an office is like. no. their family and friends can know but i don't need to see their coworkers finding out unless it's meant to be a point of conflict
how can you be discussing top-bottom dynamics of your boss with your colleagues!! and asking your other boss about it !!!! let's get serious I hate this, I should skip through
HOW CAN YOU ASK THIS TO YOUR FUCKING BOSS?!?!?!?!? HOW CAN THIS BE A POSSIBLE THING?!?!?! this show is generally so grounded, even in it's more out-there aspects, that this is like... what world are we in? so inappropriate and also like probably homophobic because you would not be asking this if Qian was dating a woman
are they insinuating Qian's the top/tiger? That does not go with what I want form this trope so I'm ignoring it lmfao I can do verse because I can almost always ship verse but with the younger-guy-deeply-in-love-with-and-madly-pursues-older-guy-who-is-resistant-and-conflicted trope, I like a younger top
but i think people were also annoyed about this suggestion of top Qian lmfao, I think I remember reading comments about it
ah, Lili is indeed pregnant
aw, hug before the questioning but it's like genuine, not from anger. Especially important for them because their mother was terrible and they don't want a child to go through that again obvs
pls San Pang's also here loll I think it's good the ways they were all in different rooms
the panic when Xiao Bao knelt and the 3 of them also scrambling to kneel, especially when Qian also knelt
aw, Qian really was their da-ge, father, and mother all in one
Qian's afraid Lili will follow in their mother's footsteps (pregnant then married young) and be unhappy
why is this so good T.T
I can't believe the messy sex scene from last ep and the utter bullshit that was the office scene in this ep made me forget for a bit how good this show can be
Damn, they're really saving the surgery thing for the very last few minutes. anyway ik he doesn't die because everything would've gone up in flames if that happened
omg how much timeskip, there's a whole baby now
The office discussion actually made me so uncomfortable, it was so inappropriate and unnecessary, why didn't we take that time to... just show at least a bit of the surgery and aftermath or whatever? Like that was such a huge thing in the past 2-3 eps but it just... disappears and we assume it was successful bc of the ending
Overall:
I'm so glad I got over my pseudo-incest brother-lover aversion because I can now watch this stuff in delight. Though I must say, my favourite aspect of this show is the little family trio with Qian, Yuan, and Lili, with San Pang occasionally invited as well. I loved how they cared for each other and how though Lili was left out of the romantic duo inside their trio, it didn't feel like she was forgotten or sidelined. They each had specific relationships with each of the other people, their interactions had their own flavours and it was so good.
The romance itself hm I think the development was nice, especially from Yuan's side since we saw how he thought of Qian and how he supported him and such. We also saw a bit of how Qian was so lost when Yuan was gone that even San Pang was wondering whether Qian liked Yuan and it would've been better if they hadn't sent him away. It just feels like since there was so much angst and build-up for like 10 episodes, their actual coming together should have been grander. The sex feels a bit sudden, I don't think it should've happened right after that conversation because Qian was barely ready to admit whether he saw Yuan as more romantically than just a brother, and then the editing of it all was terrible.
The surgery stuff also kinda dwindled, if they'd brought it up, I wished they would've at least shown the direct aftermath or whatever. I despised how we had the office Yuan/Qian gossip for so long in episode 12, we could've used it for better things. At least we ended with the Lili pregnancy announcement and coming together over that, which reminded me just at the end why I liked the show.
Some other things I really loved: 1) Qian's face, holy shit. Qian is so beautiful, like incredibly attractive to me, woah. Reminds me of Na Jaemin who I was also taken by when I stanned NCT; is it the lower half of their faces/their mouths? 2) The 2 scenes where Qian finds out Lili and San Pang are dating in ep 8 + finds out Lili's pregnant in ep 12 and just going to kill San Pang lol (also loved how Yuan was enjoying it in ep 8 but was helping San Pang and Lili out in ep 12 lol). 3) The episodes, especially the earlier-middle ones, were so addictive, I didn't end up reading the on-air reddit threads because I was too into watching the next ep instead of reading about it.
In the end, I don't think I'll think about it often, especially not the Yuan/Qian ship unless just to remember the brother-lover trope and even then, Kiseki's Chen Yi/Ai Di gave me more intense brainworms for a similar trope I think. I'm disappointed that I didn't love the show, its flaws are at moments that are too important. So deeply conflicted about whether to give 6 or 6.5, I'll go with 6.5 for now.
Rating: 6.5/10

I'm going to ask you for LoCH trash answers! 10, 11, 14 and 16
ooooo LOCH!! :DDDD
10. what is the worst thing you want to become canon (character death, trash-ship, etc)
hmmm WELL I have always been fond of A-Heng Parrot Coma from 83. Which, okay to explain A-Heng Parrot Coma, we must first understand that Feng Heng (HYS's wife) is NOT 100% dead in 83 canon. Instead, she is just in a terrible coma that he has been planning to rescue her from in time for the JingRong wedding even for the past 15-16 years. And here he is, working hard to actually revive beloved A-Heng! Except! OYF invades the island to kill JingRong for #reasons and uhhh upon hearing Rong'er scream outside he abandons his wife to go save his daughter, screams like a demented madman while beating off OYF, and uhhh then has a bit of a mental breakdown about the now 200% dead A-Heng. For the record, Huang Rong thinks A-Heng is the name of her dad's beloved pet parrot who also died during this whole thing so she gets him another not talking parrot that she pretends is A-Heng to cheer him up. How HYS has not yet lost his mind and destroyed the island yet is ??? to me, BUT don't worry! there's more! Huang Rong discovers her mom's dead corpse and he has to tell Rong'er that actually, he was just a fucking lunatic who claimed mom was alive for all these years instead of telling Rong'er that she was dead, at which point Huang Rong has a meltdown and yells about how she HATES IT and would rather have just known THE TRUTH, and it's okay stop being deranged dad, lets actually bury mom all nice okay?
AS YOU CAN SEE this is my CATNIP I'm insane about this. I think it would improve the deranged HYS situation from the book if this were canonized. 83 HYS in general is just like the writer room's soggiest meow meow and they were all HYS apologists so canonizing their various antics would've been hilarious. 2 me. If we can't canonize the whole of A-Heng Parrot Coma, I propose we canonize that situation in 83 where HYS is trying to figure out where Rong'er is from Zhou Botong by asking him "where is my daughter???" and ZBT saying "oh how should I know where your daughter is?" to the whole audience of WYHL's ship. "You only have like, 10 thousand bastard hellions!" a situation that HYS is too deranged at the moment to disapprove.
11. what is your most sinful headcanon
my most sinful LOCH headcanon is actually proven in ROCH the sequel and that is that OYF and Hong Qigong should be shipped together. (For the record, they die laughing in each other's arms bc Qigong finally got OYF to remember who the hell he was again after several decades of insanity so I feel like this ship is already canon. To me. In my heart. It can't be disproven!)
14. What is ur crackiest crack ship
My crackiest crack ship is probably that Mei Chaofeng and Bao Xiruo should've been together. Maybe this would've fixed Yang Kang. And also let them leave WYHL behind. As is their right.
16. what is ur favourite ridiculous au
Hmmm this is something that @autumnslantern and I call "95% high school au" wherein most of the story takes place in the China part of LOCH, but I think it's definitely the situation where Huang Rong and Ke Zhen'e take an EXTENDED road trip towards Mongolia to find Guo Jing together because they're being chased by Yang Kang and OYF! Fun times!
:DDD thanks for the ask! I have lots of feelings about LOCH for sure.

Round one: Sikmun vs 爆炸, bào zhà
(poll at the end)
Sikmun (Bislama)
Unable to find IPA
Translation: Menstrual period
Bislama is an English-based creole with around 14 200 speakers. It is spoken in Vanuatu, where it’s the national language and used as a lingua franca to facilitate communication between speakers of the 110 living languages. Bislama emerged in the late 1800s due to the practice of “blackbirding”, aka deceiving or kidnapping Pacific Islanders and taking them to work as indentured labourers on plantations, mainly in Australia and Fiji. Due to everyone speaking different languages, a pidgin emerged that later became a creole. This language was taken to Vanuatu when labourers returned and spread because it could be used as a lingua franca. Most of the vocabulary is English-based with some French, but the grammar is typical of local languages.
Motivation: Sick moon???? That’s such a rad way of describing it, it sounds so cool…
(note: the original submission said sigmun, sikmun was the spelling I found in the Bislama spelling dictionary as well as in text examples)
爆炸, bào zhà (Mandarin Chinese)
[paʊ ʈʂa]
Translation: explosion
Chinese is a Sino-Tibetan macrolanguage (a dialect continuum consisting of different varieties that are distinct languages based the criterium of mutual intelligibility, but commonly referred to as a single language) with around 1 350 300 000 speakers that consists of 16 recognised languages, often referred to as dialects. Out of these, Mandarin Chinese is the largest, as 70% of Chinese speakers have it as their native language. The Beijing dialect of Mandarin forms the basis of Standard Chinese, which is the national language and taught in schools all over China.
Motivation 1: Super fun to say (BAO ZHA allows for some intense chest yells!!), lovely meaning, has become a joke among my friend group and our Chinese teacher thinks it's very funny
Motivation 2: Explode is an inherently funny word. Also me and my friends learned this word back in like Chinese ii (super early on, we were still learning basic grammar) and our Chinese teacher does not like it very much. Once they got in trouble for putting it in a presentation that was being graded for our ib myp certificate (international baccalaureate; bigshot honors program).
Note: This was submitted as Mandarin Chinese by at least one of the four submitters of this one word (thank you for sparing me the detective work). The two best motivations were put on the post

More Agravain stuff from my brain since his likelihood of arrival is nil in GO abut anyways
Here’s the last post on Akkun stuff
Under the cut is a BUNCH of dialogue - side note, I didn’t really know about the FK in depth when working on this so I went off of his preexisting relationships with Gawain, Lancelot, and Morgan (for Bao) . I also wanted to include more but I figured 22 is a lot (20 if you arent counting the other fan servants) and I ended up cutting the three Hassan and xaunzang.
This is mostly just servant interaction, working on cleaning up the bonds and extra dialogue (likes, dislikes, combat, etc)
Dialogue 1:
What do you need? Do not bother me with frivolous things.
Dialogue 2:
Hah. What a handful of a Master you are.
Dialogue 3:
If there is work to be done, leave it here. I will handle it.
Dialogue 4 (Lancelot, both):
You-!! Do not speak to me! Do not even look in my direction unnecessarily, the mere idea of working with someone like you makes me ill.
Dialogue 5 (Gawain):
Well met, Gawain. Hm? A request? Urk- no, no. I will not refer to you as such, not even in an informal setting-! Gareth might call you ‘big brother’ but I have no intention to do so! (Sigh.) fine. Simply calling you brother should be sufficient. No? … Don’t push your luck.
Dialogue 6 (Mordred):
You look well, Mordred… hmph. As rambunctious as ever, aren’t you? Don’t go an cause problems for our Master or King. Go on, get out of here. Yes, yes, don't wait up, as you say.
Dialogue 8 (Garath):
Good to see you, Garath. Hm? Ah… please do not call me as such, Gawain is much more suited to be called ‘big brother’ than I. Urk-! G-Gareth… [sigh] very well… if it makes you happy, you can continue to call me as such.
Dialogue 9 (Carmilla):
They say that you are a master of torture. Perhaps a conversation on techniques is in order?
Dialogue 10 (King Hassan):
Hm. It appears that donning amor isn’t as scarce as I expected from Assassins. Though this is the progenitor of Assassins… despite our differences- Well met.
Dialogue 11 (Any Knight of the Round Table):
Indeed I am here as well. If it makes you uncomfortable ignore me, it doesn’t matter what you do as long as the job gets done.
Dialogue 12 (any Arturia):
Ah, my King… if there is anything you wish of me to do, I will do it. Hm? Rest? Ah… well… if you insist, my King.
Dialogue 13 (Morgan le Fay):
Urk-!! (He looks like he’s looking for a way to escape)
Dialogue 14 (any Faerie knight):
Ah. Hmm. I’m afraid I just do not understand what exactly is going on…
Dialogue 15 (any Alter Saber):
To think that this is… no, this being is not my King.
Dialogue 16 (Gray):
Strange… truly, you resemble the King but… at the same time, you are very different. Your responsible nature is admirable, though. Should you need advice from a dour man like myself, as a… distant… blood relative, my door is open.
Dialogue 17 (Fairy Knight Gawain/Barghest‎‎):
You’re… Gawain, you say? From your world? I… Hm. I suppose I can see the resemblance and why that woman would give you that graph.
Dialogue 18 (Fairy Knight Tristan/Baobhan Sith‎‎):
I warn you, if you start calling me ‘brother’ as Gareth does, I will remove your head from your shoulders. We may share a connection through that Woman but that is all.
Dialogue 19 (Fairy Knight Lancelot/Melusine):
To think that fool would be represented by a waif of such stature in that place… I suppose holding animosity towards you for being that rabid dog’s counterpart is… unbecoming of me
Dialogue 20 (Ching Shih, Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
[Sigh] We meet again, Crimson Pirate. Please get off of me, we are not— watch where you’re putting your hands, woman!
Dialogue 21 (Vincent Van Gogh (True), Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
Ah, so you are here as well painter. You should not hide yourself away like that, though. I’m certain there are many others who wish to see you.
Dialogue 22 (Romani, Clear Eternal Summer Stage):
Hm… I did not expect to see you again, Doctor of Chaldea, and as a Servant, no less. I understand that I am not one to talk, but even as a Servant you should not overwork. Especially as Chaldea’s beloved doctor.

Wake up babes, a new ask game just dropped!
Highlight your picks and (anonymously) pass it on to anyone you want to know better!
Submarine or spaceship?
The Nutcracker or The Snow Queen?
Soup or stir fry?
Rollerblading or ice skating?
Trains or planes?
Gloves or mittens?
Opera or death metal music?
Movies or TV shows?
Rice or pasta?
Fleece or flannel?
Tissues or handkerchiefs?
Piggy back or bridal style?
'Italian' or 'Chinese' food?
Flying or teleporting?
Adopted or biological children?
Dragon or unicorn?
Picnic in the park or movie night at home?
1.) Submarine or spaceship?
Spaceship! I'm a sci fi nerd and I'll go exploring space before the ocean ( also have this slight fear of drowning - I'm not the strongest swimmer)
2.) The Nutcracker or The Snow Queen?
I'll go with the Nutcracker - only bc of all of those ballet classes I took as a kid. Hey btw, have you ever seen the the Mark Morris version of the Nutcracker - The Hard Nut? It's one of my favorite versions of the ballet.
youtube
youtube
3.) Soup or stir fry?
Going with soup - esp where I live. Love a good soup in the winter/fall. Faves: Tomato, Clam chowder (New England and Manhattan) Butternut Squash, Chicken and Dumplings
4.) Rollerblading or ice skating?
I can do neither, but I like to watch ice skating. So lets go with that.
5.) Trains or planes?
I've only done short train rides and like them. Maybe that? It might be nice to try one of those travel by train/ sleepover night on one. I don't mind planes. No fear of flying - but ugh I do hate being stuck on a long non stop flight. I get antsy being stuck in my seat.
6.) Gloves or mittens?
Gloves.
7.) Opera or death metal music?
Opera
8.)Movies or TV shows?
OK - that's hard. I can't choose! I love both formats
9.) Rice or pasta?
Again - Love both! - but I'll say rice as a 1st choice, pasta is a close second if I had to pick something from a menu.
10.) Fleece or flannel?
Fleece! Love my Fleece zip up jackets and fleece lined sweatpants when its cold!
11.) Tissues or handkerchiefs?
I like handkerchiefs but I use them only like for things like blotting sweat or make up or such ( does that make me sound like a Regency lady? 😂) Tissues are my preferred thing to use if I have a horrible cold.
12.)Piggy back or bridal style?
Piggy back. - for some reason I get paranoid someone might drop me being held bridal style. Piggy back I can hold on for dear life! 😂
13.) 'Italian' or 'Chinese' food?
Again - another example of how I love both. But will choose Chinese food first, because I'd never be able to turn down some bao or dumplings dim sum - god I love dim sum.
14.) Flying or teleporting?
Teleporting. Something amazing about just blipping from one place to another. Flying is cool though.
15.)Adopted or biological children?
No preference - I've got biological kids, but I'd love an adopted one as much as I loved the ones I popped out myself. Though at this time. No plans for any more kids. I'm DONE!
16.) Dragon or unicorn?
Dragon! I think because I like bright, shiny things to hoard. (I have a brooch collection that Kurt Hummel might envy - though none of its designer!) And they are also so powerful and beautiful.
17.) Picnic in the park or movie night at home?
I'm going to say picnic during a movie night at home. Not a really big outdoorsy person. But the idea of spreading setting up a picnic inside is fun.

Cubao’s latest suit is here, just in time to celebrate Gong Jun’s 31st birthday!
Tumblr media
The newest suit is inspired by latest collaboration between Jason Wu and Shu embroidery master Kang Ning. Gong Jun wore this suit to the recent Vogue Forces of Fashion event, where all three of them participated in a panel together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The latest bao suit is fit for 20 cm Cubao, as opposed to the 15 cm Xiao Cubao I normally make for. Because I previously worked with a smaller size, the first step was to size up the patterns. I used the base pants and shirt pattern resized to 117% scale then made mock ups (I got lucky on the size selection and didn’t have to do too much trial and error). Then I sized up the previous pattern used for the Cannes suit (thank you, Jason, for using similar styles) and made another mock up to check the fit.
Tumblr media
White sateen serves as the base fabric. This version of sateen is slightly thinner than the one used for the Elie Saab cape and what I am used to, but it was what I had on hand. After the pattern pieces were marked out, I used red pencil lead to trace out the patterns. Kang Ning said she used 10 different colors of silk thread to create the original embroidery; due to my limited real estate and short time frame, I used two colors of cotton embroidery floss. The stitches are mostly short stitches and rather haphazardly placed; the goal was to give a fur like appearance as everyone initially thought the pattern was fur so I wanted to try and replicate that (I hope I did).
Tumblr media
Overall embroidery took about 12-14 hours over two days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Details also include a signature embroidery on the back. I am not sure if this is both Kang Ning’s and Jason’s signature, or just one of them. It is a little detail, but one I really liked and did not want to leave out. The bao version is 1 inch x 1 inch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, this suit took 5 days to make. Gong Jun’s appearance was on Nov. 23 and the suit was completed on Nov. 27, just in time to post for his birthday.
Tumblr media
And thus Cubao(s) now have had 5 custom suits made (in the last 6 months!). We are looking forward to seeing what will appear next.

You turn to other ways in order to make them come alive. At first it doesn't work but when you wake up all of them are alive!
Note: years have passed since you were supposed to get magic and when you first made the dolls, you're at LEAST 18 now

I came across this bilibili video with commentary on a lot of the actors in Romance of the Three Kingdoms (1994). Adding my own scatter-brained thoughts on some of the featured characters, with timestamps:
Bi Yanjun as Yang Xiu / Li Ru (6:31) - omg TIL they were played by the same actor? I see it now... the power of facial hair & acting lmao. I like Yang Xiu a lot :3 though here he's not overtly obnoxious (affectionate) like Zhai Tianlin's Yang Xiu in TAA
Li Jianyi / Xiu Zongdi as Chen Gong (7:00) - XZD's Chen Gong is /chef's kiss/ I love the final Cao Cao/Chen Gong breakup scene at 白门楼, Cao Cao gazing at his white moonlight who refuses any possibility of surrender/reconciliation (Cao Cao: you'd rather be with Lü Bu than be with me??? HIM??? and now you'd rather die than be with me???)
Cao Li as Lu Su (9:17) - babyface mengmeng!!!!!! way too cute & honest compared to historical Lu Su haha
Gao Lancun as Sima Zhao (10:17) - confession, I still haven't watched the whole thing in order b/c I keep jumping around & picking out scenes/arcs instead, sooooo I have mostly skipped Sima Zhao content... but I love OP's description of Sima Zhao "who seems like he's looking at [others as] trash" lmaooo
An Yaping as Ma Chao (10:53) - 锦马超! Luo Guanzhong: /sweating I gotta spruce up this guy dammit! well good job LGZ I love watching him go after Cao Cao
Chen Hong as Diaochan (11:35) - MY DARLING!!!!!!! I really enjoy all the moments when she darts a glance at Dong Zhuo or Lü Bu to gauge her next move. & LOVE her character song—
Yang Fan / Zhang Shan / Hou Yongsheng as Zhao Yun (12:28) - ZILONG! ZILONG! too many A+ character songs... Zhang Shan's horsemanship was crazy good
Wu Xiaodong as Sun Quan (13:20) - he successfully captures that bearing/air as a ruling lord, but I'm sorry Sun Quan every time I look at you I think 孙十万... pls, let your generals do the fighting 😂 also I am weirded out by the fact he's got a luxurious beard while Zhou Yu goes around w/o one because then he would blow his identity as young Yuan Shao (speaking of facial hair, they dropped the ball with Sun Ce, why didn't he get a beard as nice as Sun Quan's!!)
Zhang Tianshu / Fan Zhiqi as Jiang Wei (14:14) - my young bb 甜姜! my old bb 苦姜! ;_______; ok tbh the thing that bugs me most about the 2010 drama is that they end the final ep with Sima Yi's death and toss in a voiceover "yadda yadda a decade+ later, Shu surrendered, yadda yadda" and THAT'S IT???? BUT WHERE IS THE CULMINATION OF THE TRAGEDY OF JI HAN???? JIANG WEI???? if you don't wanna adapt that part then ok just own it and wrap up the show with a thematically appropriate ending, why even bother to shove the idea of 分久必合 into the voiceover during the last half-minute as;dlkfja;sdlk. anyway wahhhh @ OP's commentary: "姜维是承载着蜀汉的所有美好与激情的存在,但是最后终会化为壮烈与凄凉 [...] 我们会在樊志起的身上看到诸葛亮,看到关羽,看到赵云,看到刘备的影子" ;______;
Zhang Guangbei as Lü Bu (17:15) - hahaha omg he originally intended to audition for Zhou Yu???? ok, especially after reading 《早安!三国打工人》I can't help but admit he's become my poor little muddle-headed meow meow... and ZGB is A+ in this role
Hong Yuzhou as Zhou Yu (18:35) - 美周郎 absolutely deserves that BGM cut at 19:28 /swishes cloak
Wei Zongwan as Sima Yi (20:37) - SO. MUCH. happening beneath the stillness of Sima Yi. he also deserves that BGM cut at 21:24. the ultimate 猫头鹰!!
Sun Yanjun as Liu Bei (23:27) - I like the historical Liu Bei more than ROT3K Liu Bei, but major major major props to SYJ for, frankly, elevating ROT3K Liu Bei with his portrayal, so 央三 Liu Bei > novel ROT3K Liu Bei \o/
Tang Guoqiang as Zhuge Liang (24:31) - YES
Bao Guo'an as Cao Cao (26:46) - HELL YES
this got so much longer than I expected /facepalm

Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions
Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions: A Thousand Keywords of Spiritual Harmony
Tumblr media
1. Tao (道) — The Way
The ultimate principle governing the universe is referred to as the “Tao” in Taoism. It’s the natural order, typically defined as an unfathomable, formless force that underlying all creation. The Tao Te Ching, a foundational work that emphasizes the significance of living in harmony with this natural order, is credited to Laozi.
Religions also discuss the “Way,” especially in reference to Jesus Christ. As said by Jesus in John 14:6, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Christianity’s “Way” is a road to salvation via Christ, signifying submission to God’s will.
Even while the Tao is more philosophical and impersonal than the Christian “Way,” both ideas refer to the same universal truth: spiritual fulfillment comes from living in accordance with the divine.
2. Wu Wei (无为) — Non-action
One of Taoism’s core principles is Wu Wei, often translated as “non-action” or “effortless action.” It refers to a way of being in which one acts in complete harmony with the flow of the Tao, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions allowing things to unfold naturally without force or resistance.
Christianity places a strong emphasis on submission, as seen in passages like “Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10). This surrender is not a passive act; rather, it is a deep trust in God’s plan, similar to Wu Wei’s idea of letting things unfold as they naturally will.
Both traditions urge a relinquishing of ego-driven control and an embrace of a higher wisdom that directs life with grace and ease.
3. The Trinity vs. The Three Treasures (三宝)
The Trinity — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — is a Christian theological concept that highlights the unity and unique functions of God in three individuals. It’s a mystery that emphasizes interaction and love as key characteristics of divine nature, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions reflecting God’s nature as both one and many.
The “Three Treasures” (San Bao) in Taoism are the three fundamental virtues: humility (Bu Gan Wei Tian Xia Xian, 不敢为天下先), moderation (Jian, 濭), Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions and compassion (Ci, 慈). These gems point people in the direction of a virtuous, well-balanced existence that is in line with the Tao.
While one emphasizes the internal mystery of the divine nature (Trinity) and the other practical ethical living (Three Treasures), both highlight an interplay of unity and multiplicity in spiritual life.
4. Original Sin vs. Yin-Yang (阴阳)
The idea of Original Sin — the imperfect character of humanity resulting from Adam and Eve’s disobedience — is introduced by Christianity. Because of this sin, people are cut off from God and need to be reconciled through Jesus Christ.
A alternative viewpoint is offered by Taoism, which is represented by the idea of Yin and Yang, the universe’s complimentary forces. Taoism sees human nature as a balance between opposites, such as light and dark, good and bad, activity and rest, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions rather than as intrinsically immoral. No inherent “fall” occurs; rather, one must preserve equilibrium within life’s inherent cycles.
Both traditions, however, recognize the human struggle and the need for moral guidance to navigate life’s complexities.
5. Prayer and Meditation
Prayer is a key component of Christianity and is used to communicate with God. Prayer is a means to show appreciation, confess sins, and seek guidance, whether it is spoken or silent. The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13) provides a model for coordinating one’s desires with those of God.
Meditation, which focuses on stilling the mind to harmonize with the Tao, is one of the Taoist disciplines. Techniques like Tai Chi and Qigong place a strong emphasis on developing inner peace and life energy (Qi, 气). The goal of Taoist meditation is to quiet the mind, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions fostering harmony with nature and inner tranquility.
Both traditions emphasize the importance of stillness, reflection, and cultivating a deep relationship with the divine — whether through words or silent attunement.
6. The Kingdom of God vs. Wuji (无极)
In Christianity, the Kingdom of God is a central theme, symbolizing both a present reality and a future hope. It represents God’s reign of justice, peace, and love, which will be fully realized in the eschatological future.
In Taoism, Wuji refers to the state of “limitless” or the “primordial void” from which all things emerge. It is the source of potential, the undifferentiated state before the manifestation of Yin and Yang.
Though one is a God-centered kingdom of perfect justice and harmony, and the other is a metaphysical notion of the origin of all things, both indicate a transcendent order to which existence inevitably returns.
7. Humility and Virtue
Christianity emphasizes humility, with teachings such as “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5). Humility is seen as a key virtue in becoming more Christ-like and in aligning oneself with God’s will.
Taoism, similarly, advocates for humility, particularly through the concept of Pu (朴), Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions or the “uncarved block,” representing simplicity, modesty, and a return to one’s natural state. Laozi taught that those who remain humble and “low” like water, the most yielding yet most powerful force, are closest to the Tao.
Both traditions view humility as an essential part of the spiritual path, promoting peace within and harmony with others.
8. Love and Compassion
According to Christianity, the greatest commandment is love. Jesus preached, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31), and God’s love is demonstrated by Christ’s selfless love for all people. Agape, or unconditional, unselfish love, is what it means to be Christian and it reflects God’s unending concern for the world.
Taoism holds compassion (Ci) as one of the Three Treasures. Compassion is seen as essential to living in accordance with the Tao. To act with love and kindness is to align oneself with the natural order, promoting harmony and balance.
Both traditions prioritize love and compassion as central to spiritual life and the well-being of society.
9. Salvation and Immortality
Christianity teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, who offers eternal life to those who believe. This salvation delivers one from sin and brings one into eternal communion with God.
One can become eternal by integrating with the Tao through inner cultivation techniques including qigong, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions meditation, and the pursuit of virtue.
While their views on life after death differ, both traditions offer pathways to transcendence, promising a connection with the divine that extends beyond the physical realm.
10. Suffering and Acceptance
In Christianity, suffering is often seen as part of the human condition and a way to share in the sufferings of Christ. It’s through trials that Christians grow in faith and develop virtues like patience and endurance. “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10) encapsulates this paradox.
Contrarily, Taoism promotes accepting suffering as a necessary component of life’s natural order. It places a strong emphasis on embracing change and not giving up on obstacles in life. One learns to embrace adversity as a necessary component of life’s balance by connecting with the Tao.
Both traditions offer wisdom on how to confront and transcend suffering, either through faith in a higher purpose or through acceptance of life’s cycles.
Conclusion
The quest of spiritual harmony, humility, love, and compassion are common principles shared by Taoism and Christianity, Christian and Taoist Wisdom Traditions despite their differences in cosmology and theology. We get a clearer knowledge of how ancient wisdom can direct us toward a life of serenity, equilibrium, and a closer relationship with the divine by investigating the key ideas and methods of each.
