So I had some time to think tonight at work (in between operating heavy machinery, swearing at the materials, and trying to keep the line running, fun times!) And I asked myself, "self, hypothetically, what might @inexplicifics Accidental Warlord AU look like in another generation or two - once people really get used to witchers being The Good Guys (TM) and helping out?"

And I was like "well, they'd probably get invited to social events - ooh! Who'd like which events best?!? What would that look like?"

Geralt, as we all know, detests anything too formal or Warlord-focused. He enjoys weddings and receptions, but his TRUE favorite is baby christenings. Seriously. Put him in a room with a tiny baby and he's happy as a clam. He'll happily growl away (or weaponize his puppy-dog eyes against) grannies, aunties, and other family members to hold the baby for as long as possible. He's also 90% of the reason that witchers are now rumored to be able to bless babies.

When Mouse and Treyse bring this new rumor to the council, everyone has to just sit. And process for a minute. Because what the ever-loving fuck?!? (Jaskier immediately writes the sweetest lullaby ever, "A Witcher's Blessing", and it is the ONLY song that Geralt ever sings in public, and only ever to babies and small children. Multiple women blame this for their immediate conceptions.)

Jaskier adores weddings and festivals of all types, and if a happy couple includes details of how they met and/or fell in love with their wedding invitation, there's at least a 50% chance that he'll show up to the wedding with a personalized love song, holy shit.

Ciri loves tourneys. Loves watching them, loves displaying in them, loves sneaking into competing in them (omg, heir, NO), loves WINNING them. She's a menace. She has various stealth coats of arms that she rotates between when she's not supposed to be competing, but her favorite is the battle goose. Obviously.

Eskel doesn't like crowds or being the center of attention, which are almost inevitable with public invitations, but he does enjoy being the +1 for his family. Several of his and their interests overlap, and even where they don't, he likes to see them enjoying themselves.

Yennifer becomes well-known as an extremely efficient - albeit terrifying - treaty negotiator. She'll talk to both sides, get a list of their must haves, deal-breakers, would-likes, and don't-wants (as well as - perhaps more importantly - the reason why each of those are on that particular list). Then she draws up a draft and viciously negotiates a compromise. She is genuinely surprised the first time that both sides thank her for her help.

Vesemir, with all his long years of teaching, loves visiting schools and seeing any sort of student performance or sporting event. Kindergarten to university, drama to music to dance recitals to track and field meets to football games to student symposiums to science contests to... He buys out bake sales and funds club field trips and donates several fortunes worth of antique knick knacks to various schools. He's invited as a guest lecturer, a commencement speaker, a competition judge, a referee.

Lambert and Aiden, at some point, discover bachelor's parties, call dibs, and never look back. People learn very quickly not to invite witchers to their stag nights unless they want the entire party to get horrifyingly drunk - but at least Lam and Aiden will make sure that everyone makes it home (or to the wedding) safely. Perhaps not soberly, or sans hangover, but definitely without major injury. (And if the bride asks nicely and the groom and friends weren't total jerks, Lambert can usually be counted on to make a hangover cure. He really is a softie at heart.)

Dragonfly and Serrit get tapped for the odd bachelorette party or ladies' birthday parties. Anything that falls under "I want to be able to drink and party with my friends without worrying about some strange guy hurting one of us." They are extremely protective and have both been drunkenly proposed to several times. (Livi finds this terribly amusing. Gweld just wants to know if he can watch.) Milena and Zofia sometimes go with them.

Milena loves going to wedding showers and baby showers, but outside Kaer Morhen, she has to stay in sight of Lambert or one of his brothers. Lambert's rule. (She got KIDNAPPED, okay? He's allowed to worry!) Usually she'll take Geralt (there might be babies! He's excellent protection!) or Eskel (he's very quiet and has excellent manners, and his signs are impossible to fight) for the more, ah, female-heavy events. If anyone asks, they're her brother-in-law and genuinely like spending time around kids. And very, very married.

So we've had the cast with kids, with a drawing gift, with pets, the natural next stage of that particular road would be indulging in everyone's favorite poison. Ladies, gents and thanes, I present you : the cast when DRUNK.

(Might have multiple parts, as usual, so here's the Hazbin crew).

Courtesy of Husk who has spilled the tea in Ep 4, we have a good idea of how some of the Hazbin Hotel's crew looks like when at least drinking enough to the point of being drunk. Thank you, Husk, a toast to you, Mr Bartender, whomst without this post wouldn't exist.

A note before we begin : this is Hazbin Hotel. There are mentions of substance abuse (and sex) on the regular. Obviously, I personally don't condone them, but I ain't censoring squat about it : it wouldn't even make sense to do as if it was a not-R-18-rating squeaky-clean animation. If you're offended or intimidated, chances are, you shouldn't be watching the show to begin with. I mean, c'mon.

Charlie apparently gets rather emotional (I mean, more than usual, so kudos for managing that), to the point of spouting her insecurities, which allows Husk to say (and mirror what Alastor said) that she "would rather solve everyone else's problems than her own". Apparently the Daddy/Mommy/Parents Issues (TM) come out, making her somewhat an "emotional/complainer" type of drunk. While she doesn't seem against drinking in general - unlike Vaggie in the pilot - even asking Adam if he'd "never had a drink after a hard day", like everything Charlie does you can bet she sees it as a convivial, gathering event to spend time with friends and relax a bit : contrary to her general demeanor and what her puppy-dog eyes let show, she is a grown adult afterall (and over 200 years old, for the reminder).

For her alcohol resistance, well, it's unknown how many drinks she had until she got tipsy enough to let everything pour out, but it shows that, Princess of Hell or not, she's not immune. I would bet a normal threshold on her, someone that has a progressive slipping into drunkeness the more she drinks, instead of getting blackout wasted after two glasses. She'd potentially start feeling the effects after 5 shots or so, and at 15 she's probably wasted.

Vaggie seems to have a sterner relationship with alcohol in the pilot, but in the series proper, does accept drinks and to drink with friends, or if alone, to drink to the point of being drunk at the bar, turning into a self-loathing wreck (also a hint of her past at the time) according to Husk, being a "sour, pessimistic" type of drunk. All her failures and what she hates about herself come back out in the open, so there might be some kind of "sad" type too, suggesting her whole attitude becomes kind of morose and toned-down, with some of her guard dropping. This also shows that her being an ex-Exorcist and fallen angel doesn't make her immune either, though like Charlie it's unknown how many she had before slipping into the realm of drunkeness.

Potentially, given that her guard dropped somewhat (which for someone so defensive, is pretty telling), her alcohol resistance might be lower than Charlie's. Vaggie isn't the type to party recklessly and is more careful in general, so her getting drunk implies she needs fewer glasses to achieve that state. Give her around 6 or 7 shots and it would hit her like a freight train, methinks.

On the other side, Ep 6 shows that Angel can hold his alcohol (and drugs) pretty well : this is someone that's used to party like no tomorrow (see Poison), especially to escape his everyday afterlife. He's fairly functional unless extremely coked up, and the scene at the Consent nightclub shows him indulging in drinks and still have enough of a head on his shoulders to look after Niffty and recognize a bad situation when there's one. Ep 4 shows how he looks when drugged up at the bar with the sharks, where he's mostly the "ecstatic and devil-may-care" type cranked to eleven, but there enough to also notice his drink was spiked - he just chose to let it happen (thankfully, Husk was there to intervene), and the conversation he has with Husk right after shows how aware enough he is of his surroundings, feelings, and of people around him.

Addict and Poison show both how he rides the wave and chooses to let himself get lost in the feeling as a semi-conscious coping mechanism, but also show the cracks in the mask. He's like someone deciding to laugh at a joke to deliberately make the endorphin kick in and relax, taking his mind elsewhere while his body runs on another circuit. Underneath it all, he's painfully aware of what's going on, and when the rush ends, doesn't have the solace of chosing to give into the fuzz anymore, so he quickly seeks another one. When breaking out of that destructive spiral and just drinking for fun, Angel seems to be mostly himself, and being quite the "happy, audacious" type of drunk, which doesn't change much compared to his everyday (maskless) personality - note that with the right people, he doesn't play up the promiscuitous side of himself as much as usual, because he knows he doesn't need it (and that Valentino is wrong in saying he's only worth sex). As he himself says, sex isn't the only thing he's good at.

He'll need to drink quite a lot to be at least tipsy, and even more to be absolutely smashed, so expect at least 20 shots. Yup, he can and will drink you under the table.

Husk is a certified alcoholic ("Cheap Booze" scene in the pilot) and says so himself in Ep 4 : "You can't find the solution to your problems at the bottom of a bottle. I would know, been looking there for a long time." In Ep 6, he's shown being against drugs (or at least the self-destructive method Angel uses them, since he's trying to break out of it, so Husk might have more problems with Angel relapsing into his old destructive ways than getting a kick-up for fun - this is Hell afterall) but not drinking for partying : he can be seen guzzling down bottles on the regular and at the Consent club whops down two shots at the same time. People, you've found your master : that 70s grandpa can take you down anytime. Given that he is (or at least used to be) a gambling addict, one can bet that in the past, the combination of the two didn't helped in making good decisions, but despite being a semi-constant lethargic grump, Husk seems fairly functional on the day to day - and probably grumpy enough to overpower catnip by sheer force of cynism.

Chances are, Husk as we know him is more or less in a semi-permanent drunken state (given how he flops over his bar and leans on his bottles while lizard-blinking his way through the day, seems very likely) that makes him more or less very resistent to further effects : to have him blackout hammered would require unholy amounts of alcohol I don't even want to think about. Might even beat Angel on that one.

Alastor, by Mimzy's account, could even in his life "drink like a sailor and then keep up on the dancefloor" with her, so he seems to have a pretty high tolerance, or at least be physically coherent enough. At the same time though, he "turns into a kitten" with a few fingers of rye, so I'm kinda picturing him as being his dapper, elegant self... while also slurring his words more than Shirley McLain or Ozzie Osbourne. There was a Hunicast where Michael Kovak and Edward Bosco played a drunk Angel and Alastor as per an ask prompt, and Edward gave us a nice insight on what a drunk Alastor would look like : exceptionally cheery, a bit stumbling on his words, with some disjointed thoughts (from memory : "Angel did I ever tell you you were a swell - a sssswell fellow ? [Angel/Michael answering something but getting cut in the middle by a sudden : ] PASS THE COURVOISIER !"), which kinda brings up the "love everyone/finds everything swell" type of drunk, and on Alastor, it's hilarious. It doesn't mean he'll genuinely love the people themselves, but just likes being around them and as the gentleman he is, will dish out compliments to you, the local barman, that unknown person trying to climb the curtains and the coatrack in the corner. He'll turn outright jolly and cheerful at everything, but don't think that makes him any less dangerous. He'll just tear you apart while giggling like a little kid on a sugar high and with just a bit less poise than usual.

Basically, in a physical sense nobody would know he's drunk until he opens his mouth and starts praising everything to high heavens in that unimitable style of his, just less backhanded and more straightforward, and I can picture at least one conversation going as following : "Alastor is... being actually nice ?" "...Oh shit, he's balls-out wasted." Expect him to empty a whole bottle to get to that state. Here you have it, ladies, gents and thanes, Alastor of all people is a happy and funny drunk.

Niffty has shown, in Ep 6 and all its glorious state, that she's a lightweight, to the point of even Angel commenting on it and preventing her to have more : "she's like, ten pounds soaking wet !" and he's not wrong - 4 glasses and she's absolutely gone, cycling through various stages and behaving crazy...er. She's a mix of "hyper", and "emotional", given how she starts bawling when she hearing that she's a mess (which, again... not wrong). Also a bit of "hallucinating" or "slow" type of drunk, since it takes her a while to notice she has changed locations and isn't at the Hotel anymore. While others stick more or less to one type of drunkeness, Niffty hits the whole spectrum, sometimes even all at once, and with the force of a wrecking ball hitting a matchstick jenga tower. It's like a crazy pendulum swinging on all direction axis, a screwy tailspin of half-baked thoughts dictating impulses and, well, not that much different from her habitual self, but on normal she can focus on her tasks. Drunk ? She's a spastic caffeinated squirrel in traffic that has just taken a nice long inhale of, uh, snow.

Getting her passed-out torched is very easy, and if nobody's careful, she'll accidentally do it herself : downing a glass of what she shouldn't even begin to poke at with a ten-foot pole, and keeling over stiff as a board, dead to the world for at least half a day or a full night.

Pentious getting drunk also shows in Ep 6, and exhibits traits of "slow" and "disjointed", or "zoned out" - he slurs his words or drags them ("Heeeeyy...!" to Cherri) and has problems with physical coordination (sliding and flopping down from his seat onto the floor headfirst), while being woozy and fuzzy in the head and badly aligning thoughts (mixing badly with his crush on Cherri). Pentious is somewhat Bad Ideas Incarnate when drunk, though to his own detriment only mostly ("Because... I'm buying everyone a drink/having sex with everyone !"), and again, the proximity of Cherri isn't helping. Otherwise he seems somewhat functional - if unsteady on his feet (snake tail ?) - after a while, like calibrating better after spending some time getting used to the room spinning. He's seen participating a bit in the drinking contest, and does have a few glasses to his name, so my guess is that he isn't used to drinking often and would be around Vaggie's tolerance for alcohol : 6 to 8 before starting to see double.

Cherri is a hard-drinking party girl, she seems to have good tolerance, and it would also take a lot to get her bombed (hah) out of her mind. Also a drug user, as seen, again, in Ep 6, though she's more down for a blast (heh) than anything else. With her fiery (snerk - okay I promise it's the last one) personality, her being drunk doesn't change her much, just taking it to new heights, so she's more a "personality cranked up" type of drunk. I'm already an asshole on my side, imagine if I were to drink. She's in for fun, drink contests ("competitive" type and "funny" type fit her too) and just spending a good time, letting loose and allowing snap decisions just for the hell of it, which corresponds to her general lifestyle ("In fact, I'm gonna fuck the next guy I see !"). Alongside Angel, she will drink you under the table, and will need to scarf down a lot of glasses before feeling and showing the effects. Might have trouble to stop once she gets started, but enjoys every moment of it, and even if she's an enabler (see her trying to get Angel to take drugs again, even if it's a misguided attempt to 'help' him because it's the Angel she knows, also not being against Niffty trying to drink more) probably knows her limits too : she's still aware enough to recognize and rightfully call out Valentino as a threat and a "fucking dickhead", and to check on Angel multiple times to make sure he's having fun ("you're here to relax, not playing nanny !"), showing her loyal but irresponsible side.

She might encourage others to drink and let loose even if it's counterproductive at the time, but always backs off when told "no" and respectfully accepts their choices even when already having a few drinks in her, so she's not a confrontative type of drunk either. Again, might need around 15-20 shots to start feeling it and become explosive (...I may have lied) but in a fun way.

Lucifer might be the King of Hell, but as Charlie and Vaggie demonstrate, being angelic or part-angel doesn't make anyone immune to alcohol. I can see him being incredibly hard to get wasted (even more than Husk)... or actually getting wasted sooner than anyone thinks, but he's such a goofy oddball already that it doesn't show and nobody realizes until the end of the party, where he frog-blinks into the void and the next stiff breeze knocks him over and straight on his back like a falling billboard. Even when he opens his mouth, it doesn't show, because everyone is used to his inane ramblings : one word, ducks. He'll be the "funny" and "depressed" drunk at the same time, saying the saddest and most disturbing shit with a cheerful voice and jolly demeanor, but most of all the "rambling" and "embarrassing" type of drunk : Charlie better take cover because those baby stories and pictures will leak out to everyone's except her delight. They might try to get Lucifer to drink more to squeeze more info out of him... though he has surprising bouts of lucidity in-between, and nobody knows when. He'll also deny being drunk but ask what that clown-dragon is doing on your shoulder in the same breath.

Husk might find his match (at least on the surface), and the real challenge comes to knowing when he has hit his threshold. The Hazbin crew might make a game out of it, because while Lucifer can hit a lot of the drunkeness spectrum following how he cycles through emotions (having depression doesn't help), he's the "secretely drunk" type for sure.

Next parts will be, as usual, the Vees + the Overlords, and Heaven's side. Might even do something about the following results, lemme place an evil grin here, hangovers.

Bakugo hates crowds.

He also hates malls.

Yet where does he find himself at 4pm on a Friday afternoon?

At a crowded fucking mall, no thanks to Kirishima.

Kirishima had begged Bakugo for hours the day before to go with him to check out a pop culture store because he heard rumours that there were Nendoroid figurines of their class and class B.

Bakugo very much not wanting to go, points out that they’re going to be shitty knock offs since none of them have signed any merchandise contracts yet. Logical argument, an easy victory for him.

But Kirishima’s counterpoint?

Pouting and bringing out the puppy dog eyes.

Fucking cheater.

He hates when Kirishima does that. (No, he doesn’t).

So now Bakugo finds himself in an extremely cluttered store, Kirishima’s arm wrapped around his shoulders and directing them between rows and rows of ‘official hero merch TM.’

Bakugo lifts a hand to double check that his face mask and beanie are still secure while Kirishima ushers him along. He wouldn’t be caught dead buying any of this junk, all his All Might figures are 100% authentic, thank you very much.

Kirishima on the other hand, looks like a kid in a candy store, ‘ohhing’ it and ‘ahhing’ at any figure that looks super manly.

That’s one word for them…

Bakugo spots a Best Jeanist figure that makes the fibre hero look like a blue giraffe and can’t help but bark out a laugh.

When they finally get to the rumoured Nendoroid section Kirishima slips his arm of Bakugo and practically lunges towards the shelves, instantly grabbing figures of the ‘Bakusquad’ (their words- not his), then practically shoves the boxes in Bakugo’s face.

Blobs of yellow, pink and black so close to Bakugo’s eyes he goes slightly cross eyed before huffing and softly swatting Kirishima’s hand away, “Again Kirishima, they’re just knockoffs.”

Kirishima dramatically gasps in mock offence, cradling their friends and leaning away as if to shield them, “but they’re real to me!”

Bakugo crosses his arms and scoffs, “You’re such a dork.”

Kirishima shifts the figures into the crook of his elbow as he keeps browsing the shelves, inspecting a Uravity figurine before placing it back on the shelf. “Perhaps. They may be knockoffs, but it’s the fist time I’ve seen us as merch! I want to keep them as a memento before we go pro and get licensed and all that jazz.”

“Sap.”

Kirishima grins in response, then turns his head towards the store clerk, “Hey man, do you have any Dynamight ones?”

Bakugo can’t help the instant blush that spreads across his face, he feels so flustered that the clerk is going to recognise who he is he snatches Kirishima’s sleeve, trying to yank him towards the exit but Kirishima doesn’t budge, the jerk. Giving up, Bakugo quickly hikes his face mask higher up and tugs his beanie down to hide more of his hair.

The shopkeeper shakes his head as he’s stocking the shelves, “Out of stock kid, Dynamight is always the first one to go. Will probably get a restock in a week or so if you want to come back then.”

“Aww, that’s a shame,” Kirishima pouts. He’s clearly disappointed (and Bakugo tries not to read into /that/) before the redhead perks back up with a smirk, leaning against him to whisper “Look at you Mr Popular, already number one. But that’s okay, I’m willing to wait for you.”

Bakugo elbows him in response, tempted to headlock his best friend in public but the wary glare the clerk sends his way stops him. Looking back to the figures he spots a Red Riot looking up at him from the bottom shelf and snatches it up. Now it was his turn to shove a figure into Kirishima’s face, “You forgot someone.”

Kirishima’s eyes flicker down and then away, not as enthused as he was before. “Nah don’t need one of me, I just wanted y- the squad!”

“Which includes you-”

“I only have enough money for these.”

Bakugo pauses, feeling defensive on the redhead’s behalf, because Kirishima was always dismissive of things that represented himself. He knew Kirishima could feel Bakugo eyes staring hard at him, but he pretends to look busy while he shuffles the figures in his arms.

Two can play that game.

Bakugo leans against the shelves and shrugs, “Fine, let’s go so you can buy our pack of nerds,” He watches Kirishima’s shoulders ease in relief of the conversation drop before Bakugo holds up the Red Riot box in his own hand and adds, “But I’m taking Red Riot home with me.”

It was worth it watching Kirishima choke on air, cheeks darkening by the second. Now it was the redhead’s turn to try and snatch the figure out of Bakugo’s hand, whining that it’s not worth it, but the blond skilfully dodges him. He struts up to the counter first to drop more yen than what was needed, telling the clerk to keep the change before speed-walking out, leaving Kirishima to fumble with his figurines and wallet to pay.

When Kirishima finally catches up he lightly whacks Bakugo’s leg with the bag. He lets out an exasperated sigh, but Bakugo can see the small blush that stains his cheeks, “You’re a real gremlin when you want to be.”

Bakugo smirks, bumping his shoulder into him in retaliation, “And don’t you forget it.”

Possibly my biggest problem with trying to make hard and fast rules about what kind of Problematic Subjects (TM) people are Not Allowed to Like or Create At All is that it's always so EXTREMELY limited in scope, so reductive about what constitutes "problematic", that it functionally ends up sorting stories into "as common-sense-bad as serving fried babies in the stands at a puppy-kicking contest and thus depiction of it is just as evil because if the story is fun or cathartic in ANY way someone might take it as saying it's good to reenact (because that's what common-sense-bad means, that people can be convinced it's good that easily)" or "wholesome perfectly imitable aspirational goodness that you should strive to recreate in the real world, no flaws, this is what utopia looks like, this is the ideal", and NOTHING in between exists, CAN exist...

And because human emotions are an irrational mess, this ends up meaning that a LOT of stuff showing some MAJOR unexamined biases ends up getting defensively shunted into the latter category.

How?

Hey, booktok! Look at this far-future military culture bravely standing up against aliens who are, by both their culture and their very genetic nature, just too evil and warlike to EVER reason with! Nearly 30% of the named characters are women including our lead couple and we have two trans characters too and we EVEN take 20 whole seconds to address the reasons that a military still exists at all so there's nothing sexist or problematic here! It's all but a post-patriarchal utopia! Never mind that everyone still looks down on survival skills like textile creation and sewing and gardening and cooking as soft frivolous nonsense only applicable to homemaking, that's a TRUE FACT and definitely not just an internalized bias because the author lives in a society where those are ~for giiIiIIrrRrRrllLLs~, and there's nothing even slightly questionable about the fact that the innately evil aliens are basically orcs transposed into a sci-fi setting, shhhh, orcs have never been written in a way that carries any kind of baggage, no more questions, don't you want cute lesbians surviving against the odds? What are you, some kind of homophobe!?

This also carries over to relationship dynamics; consider how...for all they get held up as the height of wholesome cuteness, coffee shop AUs aren't ~unproblematic~ at all. Sure, in the context of the story we can tell that the character cast as the barista is interested, but if that were a real-life situation? The only one who would be able to know if they're interested or not would be them, thanks to the limitations of Customer Service Mode. You can't ethically enter a relationship with someone in a situation where they don't have a safe way to firmly and unambiguously say no, and guess what, that's what most coffee shop meetings are! You see unproblematic fluff; well, when you call it that I just see workplace harassment. I'm not gonna say anyone can't write or enjoy these AUs! But I AM gonna side-eye the hell out of anyone who insists they're ~perfectly wholesome goodness~...at least, as long as the characters don't have an age gap greater than 2 years or so; if they DO have an age gap (and yes it still counts if it exists in canon but not in your fic) THERE'S an irreconcilable power dynamic! The only one in play here. Everything else about this scenario is 100% imitable and wholesome and healthy and fine!

...yeah. No. That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

See, one of the big problems with the whole Irredeemable Media mindset is that it declares that if you DON'T make that argument, and make it convincingly, you're not allowed to like this thing and still call yourself a Good Person; if you do like this thing, and you can't justify why it's wholly Unproblematic and totally okay to reenact irl, you're morally equivalent to an actual, literal child molester (and that one is not hyperbole but in fact the most common accusation flung over this).

But the problem is, Liking Things is an emotional response, not a rational choice. Liking Things is not something you consciously decide to do after evaluating that the Thing is 100% consistent with your worldview; it's just something that Happens.

So, look. To simplify it to a short paragraph, media analysis is supposed to work like this: you examine the piece of media and the events in it and the world it illustrates, you ask yourself what context it was written in, you ask yourself about the culture it originated from and how that influence shows in the end result, you ask yourself what about it resonated with you, for better, worse, and neutral, and from there, at the end of the process, you draw your conclusions about What It Means and how it relates to real-world issues and human behavior and whether or not you'd recommend it to others, and if so, to whom.

But when you follow this liking-media-is-a-one-to-one-reflection-of-one's-real-world-values mindset, what often ends up happening is that you get the process backward and engage in some dangerous circular reasoning: You Like This Piece. You Are A Good Person. Therefore, This Piece Is Good. You Like It, Therefore It Reflects Your Values, Therefore Its Values Are Good. It Is Not Problematic, Otherwise You Would Not Like It.

Ironically, that approach is far more inclined to make you want to accept some really fucked up ideas because your favorite piece of media contains them, than delighting in liking problematic trash ever would. Why?

Because you're not analyzing a piece of media, you're defending your own entire character. Your value as a moral human being. Your inherent goodness. Your ticket to heaven. You're defending all of this as if you're on trial. In order for You to still be Good, your favorite piece of media must also be Good, meaning everything about it must be Good. Those space orcs don't have any racist baggage, because they're not human! There is certainly no history of Black and indigenous people being compared to races of inhuman monsters; in fact, anyone who points out how their broad noses and war paint and the dark tones of their blue skin do indeed have some Implications in racial coding, those people are full of shit, those people are the REAL racists for making the comparison! And, and anyone who suggests that your coffee shop AU, when read through a lens of realism, is just as questionable about consent as any pulp bodice-ripper, and that both of these subgenres use romance genre conventions as a shorthand for consent instead of showing it explicitly and that's okay as long as the target audience also understands what's going on - no, absolutely not, clearly this is just a bad-faith argument to hold up an ACTUAL problematic ship, you're nothing like those trashy edgelord authors, see, the barista laughed at and leaned into the flirty joke, no one in the history of customer service work has EVER done that as a professional courtesy or to prevent a conflict from escalating while silently wishing the interaction was over and wondering if the customer is going to stalk them after their shift, or at least no one is a good enough actor that if they were thinking that you wouldn't be able to tell, the consent was totally clear and totally illustrated 100% realistically!

Whereas, if you just admit to yourself that, yeah, okay, the author of Fight The Aliens And Make It Lesbian definitely tried to make something overall positive, and oh boy did they ever deliver in terms of letting a diverse cast be action heroes and examining how that kind of stress can affect a person and how people can still find joy in the direst of situations, but they still had some unexamined biases that show through and it's worth addressing so we can do even better in the future; or that actually, yeah, the reason the customer/barista meet cute is fun to fantasize about is because the nature of the narrative eliminates the uncertainty about everyone's intentions, even though it's every bit as inimitable as professor/student in reality (and holy shit more people need to be aware of that actually, workplace harassment is fucking rampant) - that shows far more moral integrity than trying to jump through hoops to justify these things. Under the other model, you were bending over backward to give these things a pass to prove you weren't a Bad Person for liking them, and in the process defending some genuinely indefensible ideas and irl behavior. Now, you're just letting yourself be a human person with emotions that don't necessarily equal something you should act on, or even that you would ENJOY acting on - I mean really now, when you stop and think about it, would you actually want to try and flirt with your blorbo over the cafe counter when you get nervous even just ordering coffee from a normal person?

Amity changed in the little bathroom that was attached to the room, before emerging and deadpanning at Luz giggling. “This isn’t funny.” “It’s a little funny!”

I decided to cut the short story "In Your Dreams" where I originally intended to and finish it off there, and just put it into a series and put all following headcanons in here! This story is also rated mature because I will write flashbacks of the accident, so I'll eventually even change it to explicit. But yeah! Have fun reading!

The next day, Amity and Luz only woke up late.

But Amity wouldn’t care. She only snuggled closer to the other girl and felt Luz nuzzling her nose into her hair, smiling. She didn’t know if humans usually kept friendships as physically close, but she didn’t mind as well. After all, she was just glad that she could snuggle with Luz that way. It felt so different than when the twins messed with her or took her into hugs.

Snuggling.

She had never done that yet, honestly. She had never snuggled like that. This was completely new for her, especially for a few hours. The longest she had touched someone was for a few minutes, maybe ten at most. She didn’t even think she had touched anyone for that long when she had been a baby witchling.

Luz slowly moved around a little, then she looked up to her friend and smiled when their eyes met.

“Hey, slept well?”

“Better than ever.”, Amity admitted before sitting up and stretching, earning a jealous gaze from Luz. She had been told not to move too much yet, so she had to stay put and wasn’t allowed to stretch. Amity gave her a sympathetic glance but Luz quickly brightened up again. And lifted her hand.

“Poke!”, she exclaimed and bopped Amity’s exposed tummy with her finger, causing the young witchling to immediately turn bright red again and topple backward and off the bed, yelping loudly before a loud thud sounded.

Luz winced and rolled over to look where Amity had fallen, meeting the witch’s tomato face and her arms frozen all over the place when she furrowed her eyebrows.

“… Sorry… I didn’t think you’d react so extremely. Are you okay?”

“Yep!”, Amity responded a little too loudly, laughing nervously, “I’m alright, everything is okay!”

Luz smiled as Amity got back up, but when the witchling’s gaze fell back on the clock she yelped again.

“My parents are going to kill me! I can’t even go to school late now, I’m in my pajamas!! What do I do?!”

Luz, still lying on the bed, groaned when she rolled back over and looked up to the panicking girl, grimacing.

“You could text Eda and ask her to sneak you into the manor?”

Amity switched from panic to planning and nodded, “Right, right. I can do that.”

“Or you could just skip.”, Luz grinned, then Amity looked up at her.

“But I never skip.”, the girl furrowed her eyebrows and summoned her scroll phone, huffing, “And Boscha is returning today, I wanna talk to her.”

“Okay, yeah, that’s valid.”, Luz began and tried to sit up but quickly, a short pain rippled through her back and she fell back into the sheets with a grimace, causing Amity to look up and make the scroll phone vanish with a poof.

“Luz! Are you okay? Eda told me not to let you get up!”, she quickly exclaimed and rushed to her friend’s side, putting a hand on Luz’s shoulder to keep her down, “Are you insane?! The healers said your spine was severely injured and you try to sit up?!”

Maybe her tone was a little too harsh, or the pain overwhelmed Luz, but Amity stopped immediately when tears appeared in the Latina’s eyes. She hesitated.

Oh no.

“Luz, I didn’t mean-…”, she started, but her friend shook her head, effectively cutting her off, “I-I’m sorry…”

The teenager took some time to breathe again, then she placed a soft hand on hers that Amity still kept on her shoulder, not wanting her to move again.

“I-It’s fine-… Just let me breathe for a moment…”, she finally winced and kept her eyes closed, her breath coming in pants, “D-Don’t be sorry. I’ll be okay.”

She slowly calmed down again, then she sighed. Amity knew immediately that school was off for her today. Luz was in pain and needed her, and she wouldn’t just go.

With one hand she summoned her scroll phone again and texted Boscha to let her know that Luz was awake and would be okay with her visiting, and Willow and Gus to invite them over for the afternoon. Eda was probably already on her way.

“Just keep it down for now, Luz. It’ll get better again. You just need some time.”

The girl slowly felt the pain subsiding and nodded once more, then Amity focused back on her phone to ask the twins to send her some clothes, and sure enough, their skills in Illusions were unparalleled. A few clothes were immediately delivered to her by an illusion of a delivery boy by Emira, who had snuck into the manor, grabbed some of her clothes, and ran to the Healer’s Coven unseen by her parents.

Amity changed in the little bathroom that was attached to the room, before emerging and deadpanning at Luz giggling.

“It’s a little funny!”

The witchling rolled her eyes when she sat back down on the chair next to Luz’s bed, trying to slump so Luz wouldn’t be able to mock her but the girl gestured for her to straighten up again, “No, no, lemme see!”

She should’ve never trusted Ed and Em with getting her new clothes. Of course, they’d pick the most embarrassing stuff they could find. In this case, it was an old hoodie Ed had given her as a present for her 12th birthday. At least they had picked some normal orchid leggings.

Amity groaned when she straightened up again and pulled the hoodie so that Luz could read what was on there. Ed had gone all the way to make a print of a very badly drawn Amity holding a peace sign.

“Simply be witchling?!”, Luz giggled and Amity couldn’t deny the tiny blush she felt when she looked away and pursed her lips, “Whose idea was that? That is horrible!”

Groaning, she slumped again and rolled her eyes.

“Ed’s. He’s been bugging me to wear that hoodie for almost 3 years now.”, Luz still grinned, making Amity’s face go completely red, “Another word and I’ll leave right now!”

Luz didn’t need any words, though, making the girl squirm and sigh exasperatedly, crossing her arms.

“Stop. Don’t do that.”

“Don’t do what?”, Luz smirked at her, the grin still not having left her face. She couldn’t deny Luz being extra adorable right now.

“Don’t stare at my hoodie. You’re just being mean right now.”

Before Luz could say something soothing, though, Eda barged in and the playful banter was forgotten.

“Hey, kid! I’m glad you’re feeling better!”

King hurried after Eda and jumped on Luz’s bed, before curling in on Luz’s stomach.

“I didn’t worry about you at all.”, he stated and Luz laughed, ruffling his fur.

“Of course not, King.”

It wasn’t long until Willow and Gus came to visit as well, telling them that Boscha had looked a little tired in school but was okay otherwise. She just didn’t want to visit yet. They assured Luz, though, that Boscha was going to be fine and that she just didn’t want to rush things.

After all, she had taken it pretty bad that she had hurt Luz that way.

 After Willow and Gus had left, Amity was just finishing up her homework that Willow and Gus had picked up from a classmate, and Eda and King packed their things up as well.

Luz’s eyes went wide at that, and she almost sat up again but remembered the pain before, so she stayed put.

“Eda, are you going back to the Owl House?”

Her mentor grimaced at that and shrugged, nodding.

“I wanna sleep in my nest, kid. I’ve been here for the last few days, I really need my house back now, especially since you’re awake and okay again.”

The human pouted at that and shook her head, “But Eda, I don’t wanna be alone tonight!”

The older witch deadpanned at that, but the two teenagers could see she was struggling to leave her apprentice alone.

“Kid, you’ll be fine for the night, I’m sure.”, Eda began, then a sinister look snuck into her eyes, “You could ask the Blight kid to stay.”

In an instant, Amity blushed hard again.

“I-I already stayed a night! My parents will kill me anyway, for skipping school! I shouldn’t, really.”

Luz’s puppy eyes weren’t enough to make her reconsider, her parents’ wrath was scarier than Luz was cute. In fact, she should call the twins right now to be picked up.

While Eda and Luz continued discussing, she summoned her scroll phone and called Edric’s phone. Shortly after, her brother picked up.

“Hi, Edric. Could you come to pick me up at the Healer’s Coven? It’s already after dark…”

Her brother lightly chuckled at that, then he seemed to whisper something with Emira, before answering.

“What do you mean, Mittens? You’re already home.”

“Hah hah, very funny.”, Amity rolled her eyes at her sibling’s antics, “Come pick me up now, mother and father will be furious enough that I skipped school today.”

Again, her brother’s voice seemed too innocent for her liking when he replied.

“But you went to school today, Mittens, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

This was getting on her nerves.

“Edric, I’m serious, you doofus. Hand the phone to Em.”

He did as she had instructed him to, but Emira sounded just like their brother, making Amity’s anger boil.

“Hey Mittens, I’d say a thank you would be fitting now, don’t you think?”

“Don’t play dumb with me. What did you two do?”, Emira and Edric chuckled again in the background and Amity growled.

“We only saved your nerd butt, little sister! Thank us tomorrow when you’re done flirting with Luz. Oh, and greet that cutie from us! We’re very glad she’s okay.”

Suddenly, she understood her siblings’ smugness. Oh no, that’d be expensive for her.

“… What do you want for the Illusion spell?”

Again, the twins laughed at each other, as if they had a sinister plan. In fact, they sounded exactly like Eda had looked.

“For you to become cool and bring home a girlfriend. And now be a dear and go to bed, like your Illusion just did.”

A click later, Amity almost felt like fainting from all the blood shooting into her face. These smug demons. She turned back to Eda and Luz who were still arguing about whether to leave King here or not when they noticed her having stopped calling. For some reason, Eda smirked.

“My siblings are little snakes and make me stay here.”

“How come?”, Luz asked, looking surprised. She was so sweet and naïve, Amity almost had to sigh.

“They created an Illusion of me so mother and father wouldn’t find out about me sneaking out last night. They kept it up the whole day and it’s in my bed right now.”

Eda chuckled.

“Your siblings are geniuses. I would’ve liked to be able to do that in school.”, she finally admitted and Amity only blushed in a deeper shade of red, while Luz lightened up.

“That means you can stay the whole night?”, she already smiled and Amity just couldn’t stay mad at her siblings. She knew they were just helping in their own, smug way.

“Yea, I suppose it means exactly that.”, she exchanged a small smile with Luz. This was going to be fine, right? She would be fine. She had done one night already! She could do a second!

Eda put all the stuff she had needed to stay here for an extended time in a bag and swung it on Owlbert who was ready in the air.

“Well then, you kids stay out of trouble. Don’t have any fun without me. And you-”, she glared at Luz, “Stay in bed.”

Both of them nodded and waited until Eda had finally wrestled King onto her staff and flown away, then Amity turned back to Luz who was already grinning in excitement.

“Azura Book Club?”, she asked and Amity had to smile at that.

“I forgot Book 5 here when I visited yesterday, we can read that!”

Luz pumped a fist in the air but immediately yelped and let it sink slowly again, causing Amity to drop her small bag that she had originally packed to be picked up, and rush to her side.

“Are you okay?”, she asked, her eyes filling with worry, “Luz, you gotta mind how you move, we want you to get better…”

The Latina nodded slowly, then she sighed and rubbed her shoulder, before testing her toes again. She could still feel them, it had just been a little scare.

“Yeah, I know… Still, I’d like to sit up.”

Amity deadpanned.

“Did you even listen to what I literally just said?”, she asked exasperatedly, spreading her arms in a gesture as if to ask why. Luz managed a strained smile.

“I’ve been on my back the entire time since I woke up… Amity, I just wanna sit for a moment, otherwise I’ll die here. Can you help me?”

Amity flinched at the phrasing and bit her lip. She didn’t know enough about humans. Did they really die when lying on their bed for too long?

“W-Would you-… Really die?”

Luz rolled her eyes at that but smiled, then she shook her head, not wanting to upset her.

“No, I wouldn’t actually die. It’s just an expression. But I’d still like to sit up. Can you prop up your frame here, like back home?”

Amity nodded and got behind the bed, then she grabbed the lever to unhinge the frame so she could prop it up, but hesitated to pull it.

“Are you sure that you can’t get more hurt through that? Like, 100%, absolutely positively sure?”

Luz nodded and looked at her upside down.

“I am otterly sure.”, then she grinned.

Amity shook her head at that, sighing, “You’re unbelievable. Okay, you stay on the mattress until I propped you up as far as it goes, and then you wait for me to help you sit, okay?”

Luz nodded again, this time staying silent at her words. She seemed to concentrate.

“As soon as you feel pain, let me know.”

With that, Amity pulled the lever to unhinge the bedframe and slowly propped it up before clicking it into place at the highest option, then she secured the lever again and walked to Luz’s side to see the girl leaning against the propped-up mattress with a smile.

“That’s already way better. And technically, I’ll do what Eda said, stay in bed.”

Then she slowly lifted her hands, asking Amity to come closer with grabby hands.

“And now help me up.”

The young witchling sighed, then she let her eyes wander over the human’s face. There were no signs of hidden pain. She didn’t seem to be in pain. Apparently, as far as moving her body carefully was concerned, she was okay. But Amity wasn’t too sure about Luz using her own muscles yet.

On the other hand, she had already rolled over without feeling pain.

“Okay. But we do this slowly and as soon as you feel bad, we stop, you got that?”, Luz still made the grabby hands and Amity sighed then, nodding.

She sat down by Luz’s side to carefully wrap an arm around her waist, careful to squish the mattress and not move Luz’s spine too much, before feeling Luz gingerly wrap her arm around her shoulders and them joining their free hands in front of them. It almost felt like when Luz and she had danced at Grom.

“Okay, slowly, on three. One… Two… Three.”

Amity softly pressed her up with her shoulder, taking care not to move or bend her spine too much and minding her back to stay straight, and she pulled with her hand in Luz’s.

Luz panted and sweat formed on her forehead, but she didn’t make a sound when she sat up and finally let their arms sink, still leaning heavily onto Amity but managing to keep her straight back by herself.

For a moment, Luz looked around, then she turned back to Amity, who only then noticed how close they were to each other. Spluttering, she blushed deeply, before coughing and blinking a little too fast.

“A-Are you in pain?”, she finally managed and Luz made a wavy hand. She didn’t know what that meant.

“A little. But it’s fine! That’s just how it feels like to sit after some time of lying in bed. Wow, I am so glad to be sitting right now, I really need that.”, Luz immediately brabbled and the witchling couldn’t help but smile at that.

“Are you sure you wanna stay like that?”

Luz began sweating. So, she was in more pain than she would’ve liked to admit. Amity frowned and brought her free hand up to Luz’s shoulder to get her attention as Luz rested her head on hers.

“Luz, I really think you should lie down.”, she began but the girl groaned and shook her head.

“Just another moment. I-… I’ve been so sick of not moving, I just wanna-…”, another groan. That was the end of the line for Amity.

“Hold on, I’m helping you back down.”

Luz whined at that but she wouldn’t let her talk her out of this. She had to lie back down since her body wasn’t ready for moving too much yet.

Her face was a little more ashen when she sank into the covers and Amity wanted to pull her arm out but Luz kept her close.

“Just-… Just for right now. Stay. Just for this moment.”, the human panted, the sweat slowly subsiding, leaving her skin cooling out.

“Luz-”

“… Just a moment.”, the girl interrupted her and began breathing slower again, much to Amity’s relief. The color slowly returned to her face and she leaned against her friend, completely exhausted, “I just want this moment.”

Amity sighed and let her head rest against her cheek, then she slowly brushed a moist strand of hair out of her face and kissed her forehead.

In an instant, she froze up, while Luz hummed.

She had not just done that. After watching so many teen romances with Luz, the gesture had stuck with her, but she never thought it’d come to her so naturally. While sitting next to Luz, her arm trapped beneath the girl’s back, half lying, leaning against the mattress, holding her exhausted friend. This had been completely reflexive. Amity slowly pulled back when Luz frowned, huffing.

“Why’d you stop, I liked that-…”, she drawled, more asleep than she was awake by now. Amity, her face now a blaring red, merely gave her a neutral hum and then carefully pulled her arm out to lower the bed back down. By the time Luz was horizontal again, she had regained some of her consciousness to look at Amity.

“Can I get a goodnight kiss like that every night now?”, she asked, her eyes dazed and her words slurring. Amity wordlessly sat down on the chair, opened Azura Book 5, and cleared her throat to begin reading, still shocked from her action and desperately trying to ignore that ever happened but Luz made it clear that she was not interested in making her life easy, “Please?”

Amity concealed another splutter with a cough, then she nodded at her lap, not daring to look up. The book was right in front of her eyes. She could just start reading as she read to the kids, and everything would be forgotten, but once again when she breathed in, Luz picked that exact moment to make her life even harder.

“Thank you…”

Amity finally looked up to meet her gaze and her friend genuinely smiled. The young witchling shyly smiled back before starting to read Chapter 12.

“But the good witch Azura wouldn’t stand down. She had her ally Hecate by her side and she would fight for the good. ‘So be it!’, she called out, ‘If you refuse to leave, we wi-”

“‘If you refuse to leave, we will make you regret that decision!’, and Hecate nodded in agreement.”, Amity rolled her eyes softly, smiling. Luz could recite the book word by word.

“If you want to read?”

But as she had asked that question, Luz had already fallen asleep. Shaking her head, Amity leaned back, adjusted the book, and started anew.

“‘If you refuse to leave, we will make you regret that decision’, and Hecate nodded in agreement. They readied their staffs and-”

happily ever after, finally

so. nu’est had a comeback on monday, ending april and starting off may with a bang, at least for me. 

personally, april has been uneventful. a lot of moments that i can only describe as being ‘brief breaks from reality’ and feeling like i’m outside looking in. my uni semester chugs on, almost with me and without me at the same time. but as they have done since deja vu era, nu’est is back ([aron vc]: on a double-kick track!) to revive me from my stupor and keep me going for at least another month. 

it seems that they’re determined to spoil me, alongside other fans, with the ridiculous amount of content they’ve been putting out lately. which is apt, considering minhyun is back and all. (i roll my eyes at his antics a lot of the time, but i’m genuinely glad he’s back to complete the group once again.) and the release of their 6th mini album, Happily Ever After, is one of the bountiful blessings of the season. 

i’ve given myself about two days to fully process BET BET -- both music video and song -- and the rest of the album, playing all tracks on repeat during my commute to and from university. i’ve come to several conclusions since:

1. nu’est are definitely five of the most gorgeous men around ever,

2. all the mv elements and album tracks are so distinctly nu’est that i can’t even begin to comprehend any plagiarism accusations against them,

3. kim jonghyun (jr aka junior royal aka bugi aka nation’s leader aka very busy puppy aka... list goes on and on) is the next big tiddy kpop man we all deserve.

re: no. 2., specifically about the mv: i’m not even going to try rationalising how it all fits into the overall knights’ theme they’ve got going on. 

i’m not a huge fan of mv theories myself, being a cynic who believes that the overproduction of kpop mvs is really just a way to get fans to increase views and create buzz about the ‘plot’ strung together by scarcely related items featured in the video. but to say that i haven’t been inspired to piece together some form of story inspired by the previous nu’est mvs, however, would be a lie. 

call me a hypocrite -- i literally have a google doc file outlining a story surrounding the five knights and my own take on the implied overarching plot of the mvs, from Overcome all the way to Help Me.

BET BET, unfortunately, doesn’t quite have a place in the narrative i’ve built so far. the aesthetics aren’t what i expected, to be honest, but as a keen appreciator of beautiful men (and people, in general) i think they worked extremely well to highlight nu’est as the visual group that they are. as others continue to theorise and try to fit the new pieces into the overall puzzle that is the knights’ story, i’m opting out of it in favour of... well, appreciating jr’s right tiddy playing peek-a-boo throughout the music video.

as a song, it’s as robust as i anticipated it would be. the overall build-up reminds me of Overcome, which happens to be my favourite ot5 title track. aron gets to rap and sing, which is another win for me. baekmin’s vocals soar over the busy production of the song, once again reminding me that their voices just complement each other so well. ren’s parts remain the most memorable, as with every other song they’ve had. and, of course, because i’m jr-biased, i am thoroughly enthusiastic about this new trend of layering his low, gritty vocals in contrast with the vocalists’ explicitly tenor-range voices. 

the b-sides are just as great, although the preview of Fine in the last minute of the mv set me up for a kind of ambivalence towards the track as a whole. i’m not so big on the loud synths in the hook, preferring Talk about love’s more laidback vibe. (also, it’s a song i can imagine as a jron subunit release, which is -- OOF. what a thought !) again, jr is featured singing-rapping, which showcases his growth as an artist -- he’s evidently gained more confidence with his voice beyond being the designated baritone main rapper, and it’s nice to see. (or, hear, i guess.) 

Different is another favourite of mine. it’s now stacked with seventeen’s Swimming Fool, amongst others, as Good Songs to Cruise Around in a Car To^TM playlist that i have yet to create but should. also, i’m not sure if minhyun’s part in the bridge is meant to be a reference to a line in Universe’s bridge, as it shares almost the same melody, but if it is, then i won’t say i’m entirely surprised. i feel like a lot of the elements in the new tracks hark back to stuff they’ve released before.

Segno is an example of this. it sounds like a call-and-response to Polaris, and gives the listeners more space to breathe and just... take it all in, compared to the other more saturated songs on the album. the baekron-minren vocal layering thing in the pre-chorus is a delight, and jr’s singing is especially pleasing to me. BASS reminds me of Look (a starlight night), ren’s slight slur in the second verse embodying the overall sexy vibe of the song, with the bits of rap and baekmin’s strong vocals packing quite the punch. 

minhyun’s Universe isn’t on the digital album, having been out for a while as a standalone pre-release, but i’m content to keep listening to it for as long as i can stand it. i’ve missed his soothing vocals so much, and hearing him croon a whole bop to himself after a year and a half of begging for scraps in wanna one is so satisfying. 

Happily Ever After is the conclusion to the thrilling queen and knights saga nu’est have been weaving for the past few years, but it marks a fresh start for them in the industry. i’m really excited to see how they’ll move forward from here on, as artists and as an idol group, newly reborn.

TO BE KILLED 1/19/2019 ***CARMELO HAS A $200 PLEDGE FROM A PRIVATE DONOR TO THE PULLING RESCUE*** CARMELO is a gorgeous puppy, barely 11 months old, and full of joy and love for people. He spent all his time during intake trying to jump up on the ACS trying to get a hug, and it didn’t stop there! During his behavior, this soft, social, incredibly affectionate boy just wanted to give jump up hugs and sloppy kisses to the Assessor too! There is nothing more heartwarming than to see puppy who is so innocent and sweet, a puppy whose tail is nothing but a blur as he wilggles and wags for the amusement of his new human friends. There is also nothing as heartbreaking as knowing that he has no idea he will soon die, and that his precious life will be cut short simply because his parent seemed to be inexperienced with dogs and dog training, and never bothered to give little Carmelo a structured home life, or training on calming commands like “down” and “place”, so that Carmelo's enthusiasm and puppy playfulness could be channeled in a way that would allow him to remain calm in the face of life’s distractions. We are questioning his parent's story as well, because puppy mouthiness can be confused with nippiness. It's important to understand the difference!
