I wanna ask your opinion on people who ship Tsukasa with like, Kou or Mitsuba? Most of the AU’s or arts Aidairo do either have him close with one or the other. Or both. That one witch AU had him be friends with both of them. There were like two banners where he and Mitsuba were together I think, but the anime merch tended more to Tsukasa & Mitsuba than they did (I think, I can’t remember much art they posted) but the fandom seems to grab their pitchforks and threaten ANYONE who ships Tsukasa with them, or anyone of his age, claiming Tsukasa is a monster and a demon and that people who ship him are abuse apologists. Do you like, agree with that?

So I’m gonna be completely honest here, and I mean this in the most lighthearted way possible, I am not your mother. There are certain ships I deeply dislike, and I will shade those if I want to, but I make sure to censor them so they don’t end up in the tags of people who enjoy the ships. Even with ships that are deemed universally bad, I have no interest in arguing with anyone. My anxiety issues are too bad to carry out internet arguments anyway and also it’s so much easier and more fun to just block people

Equally, I cannot control what other fans do. I don’t agree with ship hate because it gets people nowhere, the person you’re telling to kys is only going to ship that thing harder out of spite. Some fans feel that they have a moral obligation to call out certain ships, and I don’t really have an opinion on that. If you strongly feel that you need to do something then that’s your business, not mine. I may not approve of the hate, or I may not approve of the ships themselves, but either way both are going to continue to exist

I’m not gonna ship Tsukasa with anyone because I headcanon him as aroace. I think some of the rarepairs are funny but I still won’t actively engage with them. Certain ships with him also make me uncomfortable, and yes that includes the ones with him and Mitsuba or Kou. I don’t want to see them so I’ll just block those tags and creators. I may not assume they’re horrible people, but I still don’t want to see the creations they make so they get blocked. I think everybody would have a much nicer internet experience if they realized they can block people for stupid reasons

All this to say, I’m not going to tell you what you can and cannot ship. There’s not really a point in being like “this ship is toxic, you can’t like it” when many fans ship things because they’re toxic or problematic. I’m also not a total hater, I can see edits of Mitsuba and Tsukasa and be like “hey that’s pretty good.” But the ship itself still makes me intensely uncomfortable so I’m gonna avoid it, unless it’s a past toxic relationship that ends in Mitsuba and Kou. I do think they’d be a funny friendship duo in AUs but even then I prefer to see Mitsuba with the Toilet Gang

We should not be getting involved or anything like that because we have followers who can say mean things and express different opinions than us. You cannot expect your followers to listen to what you say and agree with everything you do. If you tell us not to send threatenings and private information there will always be crazy followers who will do the opposite. They will not listen because they are messed up and think this is funny to get a reaction out of you ,but if you keep talking about anonymous slander and getting involved then you are giving these people a platform and a reason to be heartless on the internet. Only windy and saint should be involved and maybe it is a good idea if they keep it private next time. Like personal messaging. You can see what can happens if you make personal drama public on this website called tumblr. It will blow up and become out of our control because millions of people can access it.

For my thoughts I think Lily should be held accountable for sharing windy’s message and giving the anonymous people an opportunity to be mean. They have a big community and it is insensitive to believe that there is not malicious people following them. I think everyone who is not the wind or saint need to step away and do not be involved. This is not our argument and repeatedly talking of it will only continue the cycle of anonymous hate and grievance. We need to back away and not talk about. Saint said it very clearly and respectfully that we should not engage the hate by sharing and exposing it to our followers. windy said that they need space from all of this and we should all respect it. We need to be more self aware of our actions and the harm it can cause even intentionally or not.

I notice there is a real problem in this community and it is encouraging anonymous haters. Why we never had this problem before bigger names like restart heart comes along? It was calm in this community but your friends are ruining the peace by participating in anon culture and doom scrolling. I am asking you with genuine sincere emotions to stop this. Stop giving anonymous a platform to be mean by turning off the anonymous question box and blocking. Do not answer rude asks and they will get tired and move away. I want to first ask why you’re coming to me about your grievances with Lily. Not just you, but other anons. Just because my ask box is open doesn’t mean that I’ll just allow you to shit on them for what they decide to do with their blog. And I’m also Lilith’s number one call out friend when I don’t agree with their actions before they make them public. Saint ALSO has a big community, the same could be said for them and how their mods interacted with the situation. You blaming RH for pointing out something that was already an issue before this new falling out isn’t new- Lily’s had countless instances of vitriol and hate sent their way along with other people- they just can’t ignore it. I have a question but why do you think so many people are against Dabi/Touya getting a redemption arc or getting saved? Like some are against him being saved but are all down for Shiggy and Toga to be saved? I usually see the same argument and it’s frustrating! Like before I explain myself just want to say I’m not hating on Shiggy or do I feel like he’s any less worth saving but I see these arguments that leave me baffled. So the arguments I have seen before is some people don’t think Dabi/Touya can be redeemed or saved because he has murdered 30+ people, but like Shiggy has probably killed the same amount of not more people so that logic doesn’t really cut it. So why does it make a difference? Like why are people so against Dabi/Touya being saved or redeemed?

Well, I'll start this by saying that Shigaraki has ABSOLUTELY KILLED MORE PEOPLE HOLY SHIT DUDE. It's not even up for debate 😂 that boy flattened two cities with the touch of a hand. Shiggy is my favorite hands down and I'll defend the boy til I die but he has done so much more damage. That's kind of the point to his arc--actually. But anyways~

So with that--I've wondered the same thing you're asking. Why is Touya getting so much hate? Why not redeem him? Well, there's a few reasons that I have seen:

Endeavor- This is the first and foremost reason I can see for Touya having so many antis. This is something I can't grasp or fathom--Why do so many people like Endeavor? Or more like--why do so many people want to see an abuser thrive and his victim be put down? I can understand wanting to see an abuser better himself AND wanting to see the victim thrive, and I can see people wanting the abuser to be put down and the victim to thrive. But to just want the abuser to come out on top? No. Fuck you. (not you anon). So for whatever reason that I cannot fathom, people can't stand the idea of Touya surviving, being saved and redeemed, because it means that Enji has failed (which he already has but--again I really don't understand that side of the fandom and quite frankly I don't want to). So yeah, Endeavor has a lot of ridiculous fans. Hawks- I've already talked about how ridiculous some of the Hawks-stans are. I'm sorry but---they're fucking ridiculous. Some of them need to step away from their computer, go outside, breath some outside air, and shut the fuck up. And let me tell you---we sometimes joke about how the hero-stan side of the fandom lacks critical thinking skills and can't read past the surface--but I want to disagree with to an extent. I can tell you right now, Hawks's stans saw THIS:

And they knew. Seeing Hawks remain in the dark while Dabi walked toward the light. They knew what this was foretelling. And they didn't like it. And then this happened:

And they DEFINITELY did not like that. And then Dabi went and made fried chicken out of him and they found more reason to hate him with all their being. Hawks was kind of set up to die heroically--and even though his arc is pretty bad right now, I still think that at this point that’s the best ending for him. For me, he’s gone too long without even remotely thinking of changing his ideologies, and has been backing Endeavor unquestionably for a bit too long now. It’s just not looking good for him survival-wise. And his stans either SEE this very clearly and are in denial and need something to hate in order to deal with it, OR they really just aren’t looking as deep into the story as they need to. Those panels I used above though honestly tell it all. That being said he very well may survive and not have any consequences from his low point at all--but then he gets thrown in the “BNHA’s shittiest written arcs” pile. But whatever. 

Also--shoutout to the blogs I follow and people I talk to who genuinely LOVE Hawks’s character but like--aren’t ridiculous about it and don’t harass people in their inboxes about it. Who also try to understand his character and not just make him out to be a uwu baby that never did anything wrong. TRUE Hawks-stans if I ever saw em.

Shouto--This is FAR less common than the other two reasons, but I have seen a few people who think this. They love Shouto (understandably--he’s a fluffy boy who needs a hug from his big brother Touya), but they think that Touya is going to be Shouto’s “final boss”, or his mortal enemy or something. Which--idk if they just refuse to read into Shouto’s awesome character on purpose or not, but he is not about to go out there and try to kill his big brother, who he never got to know, who he KNOWS suffered because of their father, and who is very very clearly in physical, mental, and emotional pain. Again--Shouto-stans are a  far less part of the problem. But I’ve seen this misunderstanding of Shouto’s character go around a few times. 

This next one is also big, and kind of falls into the same category with Endeavor up top--but it’s such a huge issue that I’m seeing that it needs its own paragraph: People don’t understand children’s behaviors, abuse, abusive family dynamics, and just child psychology in general. Child psychology is hard to understand--but also very simple. It’s hard as an adult to think back to how black and white the world was when you were a kid. Your parents were your safe place--they were your guardians. Or rather--they were supposed to be. This isn’t always the case though. And the Todoroki family exhibits a lot of realistic aspects of abuse. Even though the Todoroki backstory was very messily written--one thing is absolute: Endeavor emotionally abused his child. The issue is that Shouto’s and Rei’s physical abuse was shown FIRST in the story--and THEN we were shown what really happened with Touya wasn’t so easily identified as abuse (I mean it is--to me, but not to everybody). And people got stuck on comparing Touya’s and Shouto’s childhood instead of viewing them as two completely separate crimes Endeavor committed against his family. And they misunderstand Touya’s behaviors. Peep back at when I said that your parents are supposed to be your safe place--well, for Touya, Enji WAS his safe place, his guardian, his world. And then suddenly all of that disappeared without reason (good reason I mean). And that takes a serious toll on a child. I could honestly go on and on and on about this topic in particular but it’s not necessary for this ask. The point is---people don’t think Touya was actually abused or that he suffered as a child. They seriously lack an understanding when it comes to stuff like that. And they aren’t shy about showing it to the rest of the internet. 

The last reason which I think kind of encompasses all of these reasons: People don’t understand redemption arcs--because they’re not your run of the mill Heroes vs. Villains story. It makes it to where it’s not clearly obvious whose side you should take. I guess people don’t like that---but I love it. Why not take BOTH sides?

You get to have more fun this way imo. You get to watch and see how the two sides come together--rather than just stick to one ideology til the end. I think it’s because people don’t like having their ideals, beliefs, and values challenged. It may be personal for some people--but forgiveness is a touchy subject as well.  And I also think a lot of people very much think that the rules of our reality should exist within fiction. People forget that fiction exists for us to escape reality--I don’t know why this is so easily forgotten. But what’s cool about fictional stories is that everybody can have a happy ending--no matter how many atrocities they committed, people they hurt/killed, because guess what? NOBODY ACTUALLY GOT HURT! 

But anyway---these are the conclusions I’ve come to regarding why Touya has so many haters. Some are legitimate reasons (the last two I listed) and some are just outright ridiculous (the first three I listed). 

I’m not bothered though. I would LIKE to say that when these villain-saving chapters come out I’ll laugh hysterically at all the villain-haters’ reactions---BUT I already blocked almost all of them. 😂

But, -leaving aside that it’s fair that Donna fans would rather not focus on her flaws since everyone else in fandom is already talking shit about her- I think the fact that it comes out like that is an after-effect of trying to have character debates on tumblr. … 1. Fandom decides to hate a character to death, to the point of making those who do like the character uncomfortable. 2. Fans of the character try to do a proper analysis of the character acknowledging both their virtues and flaws. 3. Haters dismiss the virtues, take the flaws as munity and double on them 4. Fans give up on having respectful conversations about the character's flaws and instead try to explain and defend everything about them in an attempt of shooing away the haters. …

… I'll talk about HP since it's one of the biggest fandoms out there. Ron bashing was HUGE back in the day and it still goes on. Fans –mainly Dramione and Harmony fans, don’t think I need to explain why– went on like a broken record about what a dumb, jealous, insecure dirty coward Ron was and how these were all unforgivable flaws for which Ron should stay far away from the group and hopefully die. …

… Ron fans obviously didn't like that and tried to give perspective, pointing out that while some of those things (not all of them) were true, Ron also had many good qualities that made him a great person to have around. But bashers didn't want to talk about Ron's good side, and instead doubled on his insecurity, which Ron fans had admitted to be there. So what did Ron fans do? They started to blame everyone else for Ron's insecurity. ...

... Now it's Hermione's, Harry's and the Weasley's fault for subtly abusing Ron through his life, and any agency he may over his mistakes is erased. Hermione shouldn't have talked about other boyfriends in front of Ron, Ginny should never pick a fight with her big brother, etc. Not everyone takes this stance, but bottom line is that now there's an "anti-Hermione” tag, which would've been unheard of back then. …

… Again, this happens in every fandom. Why? ‘Cause in tumblr it's very easy to come across unproperly tagged character hate, and it's open for everyone to see. But in a forum, everyone's a fan of the same character. No one's scared about admitting their fave's flaws, ‘cause everyone there loves the character and are glad to discuss them in a caring way. And if a hater appears, the mods can block them. Anyway, I'm excited to read your meta!! (Man I really need to make an acc for these things)

This is going to sound like a 'not-all-men' argument (which, blech), but... I don't think this happens in EVERY fandom. Most television/movie fandoms, yes, but not all. When I was in the IT fandom, all seven losers were appreciated. Mike and Ben sometimes got hate because of the fans' racism or fatphobia, but that wasn't the fandom deciding to hate their characters for the actual characterization. We were all focused on hating Pennywise and Bowers and Eddie's mom. At least, when I was in the fandom that was the case. Don't know what it's like now.

I used to be interested in Harry Potter. I read all the books, watched all the movies, was even active in the Marauders section of the fandom briefly. Then I got a little older and I learned about JKR's blatant and terrible transphobia, and I stopped participating in the fandom completely. JKR's transphobia really turned me away from the whole HP universe. So I have no way of verifying any of this, but I'm sure you're right. It sounds about right. And, again, I was into the Marauders, and that was all just Peter Pettigrew and Snape hate.

I'm not personally afraid of haters. I have a lot of ways to destroy people with words and be really mean when I want to, so I'm not scared of people sending asks that hate on Donna.

Also, yeah, Tumblr sucks. It's great, but it also sucks. The website itself has some... design flaws. And you can block people on this site too, but it's hard to if they're an anon. And even when you've blocked someone, you can still see their account and posts and they can still interact with you through reblogs. I know because I had someone blocked for good reason, then they reblogged a post of mine (we're in the same fandom) and past events had to repeat themselves, much to my dismay. I just have to try and stay away from that account now because I can't rely on Tumblr blocking them from my dash/notifications.

But despite stuff like that, I really do like Tumblr. I've met some really cool people, in both this fandom and the classic rock fandom, for which I have another account. So if you're thinking of making an account, I say go for it! As far as fandoms go, That 70s Show has a pretty good one. The bigger accounts in the fandom are all run by super kind, creative, awesome people and I'm really glad I've gotten to know some of them 😊

First, the Naruto analysis I was planning is cancelled, and the Fishman Island analysis is put on hold until further notice. Instead, I'll be focusing solely on NaLu and LuNa projects, and the haki analysis I promised

Why? Things escalated with the NaLu/Gruvia shippers, so I had to prepare responses accordingly. Given someone was kind enough to try to make a statement about shipping, I’ll explore the matter through a claim this shipper made: the discussion of pairings brought here being "pointless"

More often than not, shippers tend to ignore context and story for the sake of hype. As surprising as it sounds, most shippers don’t really care about the weight or significance of moments. Some of them even say so

So, is having a debate about pairings pointless?

Let's look at a few examples within the fandom to find out the answer:

Nearly two years ago, Decadus, a famous user for his analyses on Fairy Tail, NaLu, and Gruvia found a shipper who made the bold claim that Gray is far more supportive to Lucy than Natsu would ever be, and their commonalities made them a superior pairing over NaLu. Back in 2018, I found a NaLu shipper who promoted the idea of Natsu and Lucy having no chemistry, and concluded the GrayLu pairing had actual chemistry while being the hottest

Some of you may be familiar with his content, most being reasons why the NaLu fandom is evil, how they’re holding Mashima hostage, or how Natsu and Lucy should never be together, instead NaLi and LoLu should happen. Or as one of his post went: they can’t be together because they can’t have an actual relationship with each other.

It is through debate, we determine which premises hold up when compared to facts and evidence, and which ones go against logic and reason. Or in the case of pairings, against plot and characters

However, some people are not willing to properly defend their position. And even resort to blocking those who actively contradict their ideas. But, blocking someone and then making a point, when it’s unlikely they’ll even read your argument to respond is akin to cheating. Or as another thinker would put it...

As you could appreciate in the cases I used to make my point, people like detractors, wankers, and even haters can offer you ideas to discuss, even if it is only to refute an argument. And these ideas can even lead to making content, something that can't happen if you suppress the opposition instead of proving their premises wrong

Some shippers may argue they’re not doing anything remotely similar as to those examples mentioned before. But, they may actually even try to justify their ideas and arguments as valid regardless of the author’s works, or even the context of the scenes; as they keep wanking shallow premises

And just like it happened back then, if a shipper tries to sell, for example, the idea of Lucy getting frisky with other guy while her closest companions are bleeding out in the next room, you shouldn’t be surprised if someone calls you out

So, is your argument for a better relationship based on shallow sex appeal? Commonalities with no impact? Rescue scenes that lead nowhere? Or non-existent nostalgia?

Here my statement to those NaLu/Gruvia shippers. I’m still here, and I’m not going to hide. Which is why I even unblocked the wankers and trolls I blocked in the past. i want to start this off by saying i am infintitely grateful for all the support i've gotten while i was away, and i cannot express enough how much it means to me to know i have so much support during such a frustrating part of my life, even if i'm only showing you guys one part of it. i cannot tell you enough how thankful i am, and i'm going to respond to as many messages as i can tomorrow because this has taken a lot of time and energy for me to write and piece together emotionally

i definitely think the other week when i made that lengthy post about my identity and my place in online spaces may have been a bit of an overreaction, however while i've had some time to think about it on my own i think that just avoiding tumblr outright is causing me to become pretty insular in how i'm perceiving the entire situation, which isn't made any easier for me considering when i ask my friends who've been seeing it unfold what their opinions on it are, their responses have been pretty mixed.

as a whole, i think that being in online fandoms, as an outspoken artist (outspoken in this sense meaning redacted and fat kid fuckery, both shameful and heretical topics few dare to mention), tends to inflate my ego in a way i don't really find desirable. meaning people who are super kind and friendly towards me and who give me a lot of positive attention, while reassuring and definitely welcomed, tends to lean into people admiring me for reasons i don't really understand, and this can also end up trapping me into a certain role to fulfill in a community because of the kind of attention i tend to reward and validate, i.e. fat kid fuckery in my dms, which leads to the expectation of me being this sort of bastion of hornyposting where all evil (affectionate) thoughts are encouraged and endorsed.

on the other end of the spectrum, and if you know what i'm talking about then you know, i tend to attract a lot of negativity from people i've never interacted with or had any intention of interacting with, and this has been an issue for me pretty much the entire time i've used social media (me adding hornyposting as a facet to my personality is really recent, like i only started doing this late 2017 and i'm really tired of it by now but. again. it's what people expect of me, more on that later), and i'm not entirely sure how to make it stop. granted, when i was a lot younger, i was genuinely an asshole, but i want to stress a very important thing i think very few of my followers on here are aware of

i'm 28 and only just now aware of the fact that i'm autistic, and i was misdiagnosed with bipolar when i was 13 and because none of the treatment or therapy worked, i always thought there was something really wrong with me, so i couldn't actually learn how to cope with a lot of my problems in a productive way until recently. so yeah, i was a jackass when i was younger, and i can be a jackass in private sometimes when i'm under a lot of stress, but having this realization about myself is really helping me a lot on its own

and being autistic, people can think i'm annoying or obnoxious or irritating and that, juxtaposed with content or opinions they might personally disagree with, can make people very angry just inherently. i've spoken with my friends about how i can't seem to shake off any drama that i really, really have nothing to do with or any interest in, and the only ones who could really relate were other autistic people. my own friend actually told me that she thinks this is something i'm just going to have to struggle with my entire life, because even if it's not being horny or advocating for sexual positivty, i'm ALWAYS doing something that will piss someone off

(quick disclaimer: i know some of you are probably going to try to engage in bad faith arguments with me saying that i'm calling all my haters ableist, and if anyone tries to insinuate that this is the conclusion i'm coming to, i'm not only ignoring your ask but blocking you as well. i'm also not answering any asks trying to insinuate that i "need help" simply because of the type of fiction i enjoy, when the issue was HOW i was engaging with it, which i think i have made exceedingly clear.)

i think it's funny that me clearly being into waycest and clearly being into babystump is lost on people to the point where they feel they need to make callout posts "warning" people about the fact that i'm...openly and unabashedly interested in this shit, but the very second i say "actually i'm asexual but i'm glad you guys are so sexually open about yourselves and your interests" i lost more followers than any active campaign trying to cancel me, which is exactly what i fucking mean when i say this is what people expect of me

so i can't really make anyone happy in the current environment i've curated for myself because it is expected of me to maintain this personality and continue engaging in this nature of content regardless of my own personal feelings on the matter, because if i want to break free from it then i risk pissing people off. i also can't just act how i want or make the kind of jokes that i want or enjoy the kind of things i want anyway because simply by having a mental disability that effects how i engage with people socially, i am risking ostracizing myself by pissing the wrong people off and ultimately making things a lot worse than they otherwise would be

however. However. even if this is exactly how i feel, this isn't entirely a situation that is exclusive to this current blog, and when i said in the beginning i was taking this too seriously, i still mean that, and i think that my own personal problems with being in online fandoms stem from external factors that have nothing to do with this website. i'm almost 30 and a lot of my life this past decade has been very stagnant due to severe depression, with no real progress towards furthering my life in any meaningful way, and i think that what i was really frustrated with when i made that post was this very factor. in conjunction with this, i use online spaces a way to try to find an open and accepting community of people i can befriend and be myself in, because my undiagnosed autism has historically made it difficult for me to really socialize with people in a productive way that didn't make me feel like an outcast. i think a combination of the fact that online spaces are becoming increasingly more difficult for me to adapt to, as well as incresingly unfulfilling, adding to the lack of fulfillment in the rest of my life, was the subconscious realization i came to when i decided to make that post and take a break from tumblr for a bit. i'm frustrated that i have no fulfillment in my life, and i can no longer find it in online spaces that i used to enjoy and find so much meaning in

this being said, i'm actually doing shit with my life at long last. i'm enrolled in classes for an english degree, and i'm going to subsequently get an associates in creative writing that i'll be able to complete in a single semester after the fact, leaving me with two whole degrees under my belt that i can use in developing my future in the literary world. i'm taking my art more seriously as well, although i only post my bandom and lotr drawings on here, and i'm thinking of making an instagram account to start posting my art on there as well, as a sort of portfolio. i'm sick of this ongoing feeling of there being no meaning in my life, and i'm sick of feeling like i'm just wasting away and putting my mind to no use, and the immense joy i got just from seeing my class schedule for the fall semester made me realize that i am an intellectual, i'm an academic, and i'm in love with media and literary studies and this is what i find meaning in. this shit makes me so fucking happy and when i finished the picture of dorian gray the other day i IMMEDIATELY went on a tirade about its themes and symbolism just to myself and that, alone, was so fucking rewarding. i've been watching movies with my friend sweaterangst and just describing the themes of the horror used in the fucking texas chainsaw massacre movies made me feel so fulfilled even if he might have barely been listening LMAO i find meaning in seeking out complex and thought-provoking pieces of work and i

So I’m guessing some of you must’ve seen Dream’s video on stans, and honestly he made some good points, but I just can’t bring myself to agree with most of the excuses he made for stans in his video, so here is my response:

(This was in the form of a comment on his video so I addressed it to Dream himself, that’s why it reads as if I’m talking to him)

“I’m sorry dream, I love you’re videos and honestly you are a great person, and I’ll probably continue to watch you, but I don’t agree with the point you are trying to make with this video.

You say stans aren’t toxic, and you say that less than 1% of stans are toxic, but that just isn’t true. Even if it were, the small amount of stans that are toxic overshadow the good ones. They are the loud minority, which encourages others to be forced to normalize their behavior.

When people say there is a problem with stans, they mean the stans who dedicate their LIVES to people they adore. When people criticize stans, they are not criticizing “super fans”, they are criticizing what ‘stan’ really means: “stalker fans”.

You are talking like stans, a fairly large amount of them, are not toxic, but the simple point is that they are. Maybe you are trying to be defensive of them because you appreciate them, and I get that, but as rude as this may sound, this issue goes way beyond you. Look at Jawsh, who basically had a mental breakdown because of stans and went on a Twitter rampage (don’t agree with his wording, he was a bit harsh, but I agreed with his general idea), or Carson, who got called ableist and racist for blocking people because they were making him uncomfortable with tweets, like they were entitled to his feelings.

Dream, you making this video will make people rationalize the toxic things they do. You have not CONDEMNED the toxic stans that are out there. Instead, you tried mainly defending them and condemning the haters. The difference is, haters are already condemned by society as extreme and toxic; stans are not. With this video, you have made every toxic stan think

“well im a stan but I’m not as toxic as other people”

which is not a mindset you want people to constantly have. You are generalizing stans. You are saying it’s ok to not only stan you, but also to stan others. But you don’t realize other people have other opinions.

Not all people are comfortable with what stans do. Hell, I’d be EXTREMELY uncomfortable if your stans did what they did to you, to me. You have to realize this is not a one shoe fits all issue, so please do not make it one.

You can appreciate people who love you and what you do, but the people who are being put down, the people who are being criticized, are the people who are legitimately stalkers.

You are right that you have a lot of haters, but if I’m being honest, I’d say you have just as many haters as you do stans. It’s just hard for you to see because you don’t have an outside perspective. You choose to look away from your actual stans because you don’t want to face the fact that, ya, maybe this is getting a little out of hand. Even if there are more haters than stans(and there just might be), this should not diminish the toxicity of your stans. Of EVERYONES stans.

Dream, I love you, and I’m sure you’re a good person, so please.

And please try to rationalize why so many people have made videos/posts about Stans and toxic behavior

I’m not going to stop watching you as some might do after watching this video of yours, I just hope that, if there’s even a small chance, you might read this comment and consider some of the points I made: not only for yourself, but for other creators, influencers, and even celebrities who feel uncomfortable with stan behavior.

And there it is. I know a lot of people won’t agree with me, but I just felt as though dream was doing everything to ignore the actual toxic stans who everyone is always referring to. He talked about how the name doesn’t mean stalker fan anymore, it’s more like super fans, and he’s right. But that doesn’t matter. People wanted him to address the toxic side of his community. Honestly, his video was more about the culture of stans rather than the toxicity of his fandom, which it should’ve been about. All he said about toxic stans was that what they were doing was wrong, but he never elaborated. He always switched the subject to something else like haters or “sports fans” (which was not a good argument I will say, since people seem to be praising it)

“Why, I found a solution to your problems, my dears.” Zoë smiled, almost too sickly.

You were starting to get anxious. Is it your manager or is it because of the coffee? Probably both.

You waited for her to continue and what she said afterwards almost made you spat your drink.

“You and Tom will fake-date for damage control,” Zoë said as if it was the most obvious solution.

“I’m sorry, what?” You asked, practically choking on your drink. Has she gone mad?!

“You,” Your manager pointed at you “and Tom” She then gestured to the devil sitting beside you “will be acting as a fake couple.” 

“God, please tell me this is just a horrible dream.” You practically begged as you closed your eyes, trying to convince yourself that you’re just asleep and this, whatever this is, will be over as soon as you open your eyes. 

“How did you two end up to this conclusion, may I ask?” Tom asked, equally appalled at the resolution that was dropped in front of you two. 

“It’s the only thing that made sense after the theatrics that you two pulled,” Matthew spoke up. “Setting the illusion that you two are secretly dating and got into a small fight last night, which ended up with Y/N pouring her drink on Tom.” 

“That was a small fight? What if we had a big one?” Tom scoffed “Will she kill me then?” 

You smirked at him. “Why, that’s the first thing that I liked from all of the nonsense you just said.” 

Tom rolled his eyes at you. “I still don’t see how dating for publicity solves what happened last night,” Tom spoke up, in which you had to agree. None of it made sense after all. 

“Then how exactly are you two going to explain the scene from last night?” Zoë asked with her arms crossed. 

“I’ll be glad to confirm to the world that Tom Holland is an asshole since he called me a leech,” You said almost nonchalantly. People were starting to paint Tom as the bad guy in the narrative, and all four you were aware of it. 

“No one will be telling anything,” Tom jeered. “No one will be telling anything because it’s none of their business. They shouldn’t care about these things in the first place.” 

“Hate to break it to ‘ya, bud, but see this?” You showed him your phone, the screen showing Twitter’s trending tab and there it showed over a hundred thousand tweets about you two. “People made it already their business.” 

Tom massaged his temples. “What, are you on board with this idea now?” 

“Fuck no,” You hissed. “As much as I hate to say this but Holland’s right, we don’t have to anything about this.” 

“You two don’t have a choice,” Matthew commented. “If you two chose to disregard this, the people wouldn’t let this go. It will always be asked in interviews, they would only speculate more.” 

“God, why did you even go to that specific club.” You grumbled at Tom. “Of all clubs in Los Angeles.” 

“Why are you putting this on me? None of this would’ve happened if it wasn’t for you!” Tom argued. 

“I wouldn’t have done what I did if it wasn’t for your stupid mouth!” You were fuming. 

“Look, it’s a win-win for both of you. Tom will clear up his image by giving an impression of how your little couple’s argument escalated. As for Y/N, she’ll be receiving a lot of publicity for this. It’s good for a rising-star to have this much publicity.” Zoë proclaimed. 

“Jesus, you really are a leech,” Tom mumbled under his breath. However, you still caught it. 

“Call me that one more time and I swear you’ll be going home with not only ruined clothes but also with a bruise on your precious face.” You threatened, narrowing your eyes at him. 

“So it’s settled then?” Matthew asked, “You two are going to do it?” 

Tom just shrugged, probably defeated knowing he won’t stand a chance in this argument. He does have this reputation to uphold and he’s not going to let someone ruin it. 

You, however, felt too brave. You shook your head no and said, “You can’t make me.” 

Zoë raised her eyebrow at you, taking it as a challenge. “Try me.” 

“Remember to hold hands, kids!” Zoë said giddily as she waved goodbye. 

“I am going to kill her,” You gritted in between your teeth as you left the building with the devil quickly fixing his hair. 

“I might actually take you up on that and add my manager into the mix,” Tom grumbled and adjusted his shirt. Tom decided to leave his jacket at the office and figured that a white shirt paired with denim pants was enough. He claims that he looks toned down and his outfit is so casual that people might not notice him. 

You begged to differ. Even if he is just wearing a plain shirt and the most basic denim pants, Tom will still attract people’s attention. The fabric of his shirt clung to his body like second skin. It shows how fit he is and you weren’t one to deny that. 

No matter how little effort Tom puts in regards to dressing himself, he still looked good. That annoyed you. 

“Okay, so the first thing to get this ship sailing-” Zoë stopped and turned to Matthew, “Hah, get it, Matt? I learned it from the internet. Apparently, a ‘ship’ is slang for relationship.” She raved. 

“Oh, that’s sick.” Matthew agreed. 

You let out a huge groan. “God, it’s like watching my parents learn internet lingo all over again.” Not to mention having flashbacks of your early internet days, stumbling over Tumblr with ‘Destiel’ mentioned everywhere. What a time.

Tom, on the other hand, had his face buried in his hand. He seemed like he was equally embarrassed and frustrated with this entire situation. 

“You two are going to have lunch together at this newly opened restaurant. It’s not far from here, don’t worry.” Zoë stated. She mentioned the name of the place, also adding the fact that you and Tom had to walk there. 

“You want us to walk?! This whole area is crawling with paparazzi.” Tom noted. 

“You two will be fine, they can’t hurt you.” Zoë dismissed you two. 

“The restaurant is a couple of blocks away,” You pointed out after searching the place on Google maps. 

“See it as a quick exercise,” Matthew implored. “You two are young, you’ll manage.” 

So here are you both now. You were walking with a complete asshole, who’s apparently now your boyfriend, on the way to this restaurant and waiting to be devoured by paparazzi. 

It was a quiet walk if you two were being honest. You expected more irritating remarks from Tom and you were ready to give out your snarkiest replies, however, you two were now walking in silence. 

It was actually a nice day in Los Angeles. It wasn’t too hot and humid, unlike most days. It wasn’t also that busy in the streets, which is odd, you thought. The day was perfect-too perfect.

Well, it was until you saw a man with a camera hiding behind one of the parked cars along the street. 

Tom seemed to take notice of the figure you just saw and put on a neutral face. “It’s showtime,” Tom said under his breath, loud enough for you two to hear. 

You two were walking alongside each other with close proximity, yes, but you weren’t going to hold hands. As much as to Zoë’s dismay, you thought and restraining yourself from rolling your eyes. 

You could hear the clicks of the camera and with every step, it seemed like the number of clicks multiplied. It only made you feel uneasy, you felt your chest tightening. 

You suddenly wished that you never agreed to this, no matter how much they pressured you. You didn’t mind your state of fame before. A handful of people recognize you from the Sci-Fi Thriller, Alchemist. You were also known for your Twitter and how you absolutely gave no fucks with whatever you tweet. Zoë had a problem with that before, but she just let it go since your account says a lot about your personality. 

However, none of that bothered you. You liked that people recognized you but still managed to get on with your life without getting disrupted. 

Tom glanced at you, noticing how you seemed like you were out of it. He could sense that you were taking deeper breaths than you did before. He frowned, Is she not used to this? Tom wondered. He carefully thought of what to do and just mumbled “Oh, fuck it,” and reached for your hand. 

It caught you off-guard. Oh boy, did you react so rashly. 

“What the hell are you doing, Holland?” You asked as you yanked your hand back. 

“I’m trying to help you,” He grumbled as he took your hand again, holding it firmly this time. “You looked like you were about to have a panic attack. I figured you’d rather have your attention somewhere else.”

“What if people see and-” 

“And what?” Tom cut you off, “They assume that we’re dating? Aren’t we supposed to be, princess?”

You weren’t expecting Tom to wrap his hand around yours nor did you expect him to help you ease your nerves down, so you ended up staring at him. You were trying to figure out what kind of stunt is he trying to pull now. 

He turned his attention to you, his brows knitted slightly. “Why are you staring, princess?” He chuckled softly, amused at the confusion painted on your face. 

What are you trying to do, Holland? You thought.

Fact, not Fiction

Well it’s been long enough and I’ve decided to just write this all out so everyone doesn’t have to read a series of reblogs and that they can have all the information in one place. Without further adieu *cracks knuckles* let’s get started.

So this entire story between Beka (Impala-dreamer​) and Vanessa (flamencodiva) is being told one sided, so I’m here to tell the other side and yeah.

Vanessa had unfollowed Beka, not blocked, unfollowed because she didn’t appreciate the way that she did things and who she is as a person. Beka had messaged her asking why and the entire thing was born. 

“I blocked you because you ruined my night, by writing me a 90 page essay on why I’m terrible and called me a Narcissist who only cares about people who kiss my ass.” Now, I want all of you to pay attention to how Beka so expertly framed her message to make her out to be the victim. Vanessa had unfollowed her, not publicly said anything, not messaged her anything because she wanted to keep from conflict and not make it a spectacle. Then, Beka makes a post that includes the above quotation making Vanessa out to be the villain. Beka had asked exactly why Vanessa unfollowed her and she told her why, she didn’t sugarcoat it because if she did, then that would be unfair to Beka. Beka then proceeds to post about it in order to make herself out to be the victim, once again claiming, “You are a very mean, heartless person, and you think the world revolves around you and it does not. Not everyone has to like you.” I had initially made a reblog of that very post including this quote and I had responded with -

 “Please allow me to bring to light a situation that had occurred about a month or two ago. I don’t remember exactly what it was, but you had posted something that required follower interaction and after only a single hour, you had ran to the pond discord server and began complaining about how no one looks at your account and your followers don’t like you. From then on, you had gotten a lot of support from a lot of the writers in the pond. I did not want to say this because of privacy, but the fact that you have given zero privacy to Vanessa with this post, I’ve also decided to shed light on something as well.”

This was one of the many situations and events that Beka had complained about her followers. Unfortunately, I have nothing but my own word along with others that have been subjected to or have witnessed events like these. Constantly, I have found Beka complaining about how one of her fic’s flopped, how her followers don’t interact with her, and how she doesn’t like the drama from Tumblr. I think we can all agree with not liking the drama on Tumblr, but when you yourself are creating that drama, it makes it nothing less than hypocrisy. Throughout the entire post of Beka’s response she never explained anything and only told her side of the story - meaning that she is playing the victim. She expertly weaved her web of deceit and left things out on purpose to gain the support of the public so she can have all of the attention. Another thing both myself and MANY other people agree on is that Beka loves attention, constantly posting about things that make people feel bad and send her messages of encouragement even though the very things she’s complaining about, she has started. Allow me to provide some examples.

The fact that she included her almost getting into “two accidents” already makes everyone feel bad for her, getting roped into her web. The repetition of her saying that she’s the “bad guy” implants into everyone's head that she’s pleading. What else screams out “Guys come support me because everyone is making me out to be the bad guy.” Maybe you really are the bad guy, ever thought about that? The “she” that she is referring to is Vanessa and I don’t think I can find a single example of her “terrorism” ever. Oh do you mean when she “terrorizes” other writers by reblogging their stuff with encouraging messages? Is she “terrorizing” her friends when she tags them in a funny gif set? If so wow, she really does terrorize people, you’re right! 

This really made me laugh out loud.

Let me start off by reminding all of you that Vanessa is also considered a “big blog” so you going after her for doing everything you have listed here is wrong, but when you do it, you’re allowed to complain about it? Let me also direct your attention over to the hashtag, “I’m out” The sheer amount of times I have witnessed Beka hashtag something with “I’m out” is abysmal. It’s another technique she uses to get people to message her going “oh no please don’t leave!” And what makes me know that for a fact is that every single time she says that she’s “out” I see her responding to asks from people sending encouraging messages. I’m really fed up about it and I just want to share it with all of you who might not be aware of all of these things so you don’t blindly follow and defend her. I used to follow her myself, but when I realized all of these things, I separated myself from that negativity and attention seeking. 

The second I had made my initial reblog, Beka had blocked me even though I had said nothing negative and only shed light on something. That shows that she’s trying to cover it up so her image doesn’t get tarnaged. Does this not show how desperate she is to play victim? In this entire little post, she didn’t address a single thing that anyone had responded with and instead found more things to complain about, once again leaving things out to keep her status as the victim. 

Now, some people might take what I’m about to say as insensitive but I’m really only stating the facts because I am not appeased by Beka’s self victimization. 

#fine if you want me dead, ...who said that they wanted you dead? I apologize but I don’t remember a single person saying that. This is yet ANOTHER way she is trying to get people to go “Oh no! Don’t think like that! Don’t listen to the haters!” It really baffles me how good she is at playing the victim but also at how ridiculous her antics are.

Another thing I want to add in is a post that Beka had made however many months ago talking about how the “SPN Family” was becoming negative and toxic. 

Now to be honest, I think that we can all agree with this at least somewhat and I was actually proud of Beka for writing and posting this. That is, until she made it ALL about herself again.

The second that post was posted, many people tried to spread positivity and love to a lot of others by tagging all of their friends and saying that they are grateful for them and that they love them. Beka then posted the picture above. That’s when I knew she really hadn’t changed at all. She’s proving herself that she just wanted attention in that post by saying “Beka who?” Meaning that she wanted everyone to go to either her DM’s, the comment section, or her asks to send words of encouragement as ALWAYS. 

The reason this is so long is because if I simply claimed that Beka was an attention seeker, it wouldn’t make sense to have no evidence or even just a single piece of evidence. So I’ve provided many, and trust me, there are more.

This entire thing is simply to educate everyone who is either involved or is curious in the current situation, even though it seems like a diss, it’s really me just exposing Beka with facts, not fiction. 

Since Beka deleted my reblog off of her page, I’ll just paste what I said here.

This entire situation really disheartens me.

Let me start off with the fact that Vanessa (flamencodiva) has DELETED her account because of this.

The fact that you came after her for wanting to be Tumblr famous is really wrong and allow me to explain why it is. Vanessa is a close friend of mine and I talk to her almost every single day. She is THE most selfless person I have ever met and is always trying to make others happy even if it makes her sad. She constantly reblogs everyone’s writing to encourage new and upcoming writers, and writers who have been around for a while to spread POSITIVITY. She has never once complained about notes, likes, or follows so I genuinely want to know why you felt the need to say she wants to be Tumblr famous. The only reason she went on anon for that message is because you blocked her so she had no other way of contacting you about why you had blocked her. 

She had privately messaged you to keep this between the two of you but you decided to turn it public, which doesn’t make her the victim, it makes YOU the victim. Right now, everyone who have seen this post knows YOUR side of the story but not hers. Yes, she comes across aggressive, but that’s only if you give her a good reason because you had upset either her or one of her friends which she cherishes.

I personally have unfollowed you for personal reasons but I have not blocked you because I do not deem it necessary and I do not encourage negativity. This post really just oozes negativity and self victimization so I had decided to throw in my ten cents. You can come after me for this or not it’s really up to you but I did not write this with the intent to attack or diss, only to educate. Have a nice day everyone ❤

Let the competition begin! Houseguests start out nearly vertical, but the ship slowly starts to lean forward as time goes on. If they can’t hold on, they’re done! 

After 45 minutes,

@flopbb-22 is clearly pissed that he’s the first one out. “Fuck this game!” he yells as he gets up to go sit on the side.

But he’s not alone for long! At 47 minutes, the next person to drop is

@maxdoesbb in the DR: “I am in a great position, and I don’t wanna ruin that by winning this HOH and having to pick a side. I just didn’t want to be the first one out and have it look like I threw it. Thanks @flopbb-22 for flopping!”

After that, there aren’t any casualties in a while. After an hour and 51 minutes, though, 

@cirie-sandra-michaela, who wasn’t allowed to compete in this challenge, falls to his knees angry at this point. @kaysarswhore: “Oh get up and stop being dramatic! You knew I wasn’t gonna win that crap!”

@cirie-sandra-michaela: “Fuck you! You could have tried harder! You know what’s on the line!”

It looks like that side of the house is riding on @pawn2393 to pull out his second win of the season.

@paymeincashnottears in the DR: “I need to win this. I need to cement my place in this house and let these people know that I am not to be messed with!”

@pawn2393 to the others: “I’m not letting go. Y’all can stay on the wall forever, I don’t care, because I’ll be right up here with you.

@swampassthing, who is positioned right next to @pawn2393, whispers to him, “Will you keep me safe if I drop?” @pawn2393 nods violently, saying, “of course, you’re not the target, she is” throwing her head towards @paymeincashnottears.

Neither @pawn2393 or @paymeincashnottears are speaking. Both are laser focused, and hang on the wall for over 4 hours. Everyone on the bench is pissed that they have to sit outside for this long. Finally, after 4 hours and 21 minutes...

@kaysarswhore and @paymeincashnottears get into yet ANOTHER fight, and this time, they start throwing shit off counters in the kitchen onto the floor. They scream for about an hour, until @kaysarswhore gets called into the DR.

@kaysarswhore: “I’m not fucking dealing with that bitch anymore. I’m gonna sleep upstairs tonight, fuck her.”

The side in power this week clearly has their haters, but what they should have figured out by now, is that the fans are also their haters

@pawn2393 is shocked. What did he do that was so bad that America hates him enough to fly a banner that says “Send @pawn2393 home! We hate him!” over the yard?

Upon seeing this, @flopbb-22 says, “I’ll get right on it, after he put me up this week,” under his breath.

But he wasn’t the only one who heard.

@pawn2393: “What was that? You want to take me out? You realize that I’m probably gonna be the vote that matters this week, right?”

@flopbb-22: “Mind your business! This is a game, you know it, I know it. You knew people were gonna have come after each other soon. It’s about to be final 6, grow up!”

The argument continues, but it doesn’t get too crazy. The two walk away still heated.

New Rules

So Guys ,

As you may or may not have noticed yet, the Bleach anime is back after 8 long years of patience and everyone is super existed about it:

Yesterday Bleach was trending on Twitter and Tumblr, the fanbase is rising from the dead, everyone is super hyped about the new OP/ED/OST, about their favorite moment being animated, about the plot holes that could be fixed, etc, it's a very very good news.

I'm super happy to see this fandom live and it's so awesome for me to be part of it, I can't wait for the new content we'll get to enjoy for a few more years.

BUT

As much as I love this fandom, I can't ignore the fact that it can get really toxic:

It hadn't been 24 hours since the announcement and 3 topics already kept coming back and forth in the tag:

1- people bashing people who said the anime wasn't coming back

2- people complaining about not wanting to see the end of the anime ( ??? don't watch it then ???)

3- ship-fandoms going to war against each other AGAIN

In my opinion, all this negativity is getting kinda old . The fandom will probably become much larger than it is now and it's important to let old dumb conflicts go so we can enjoy what we have now and not make new fans have to choose a side, ya know what I mean.

So here's a message I wanted to pass to fans who were already around for the shit storm 4 years ago and those who just arrived :

Let's not make the same mistakes all over again.

As a fandom, we should be able to maintain a positive climate to be able to support the anime and the manga.

As reasonable and open minded people, we should be able to enjoy and share our stuff and let others enjoy and share their stuff peacefully which also means:

>to avoid engaging in sterile arguments.

>to avoid constantly trying to one up/criticize other part of the fandom, this isn't a competion.

As decent human beings, we should be able to have the respect and self control needed to have normal conversation with someone who have a different opinion (especially since it's about a friggin anime/fictional pairing/fictional character )

We aren't in kindergarten anymore, I know we'll be able to make it .

And don't get me wrong :

There will always be something about Bleach we don't agree with so, of course :

>complaining on our blogs about it is fine.

>but going out of our ways to be obnoxious and treat other fans poorly or intensive bashing over any ship/character/part of the fandom is not.

And there will always be haters who have nothing better to do with their lives so, of course:

>responding to a personal attack is ok.

>but starting a war against everyone in the same subfandom as the person who insulted us is not.

We all know where the line between those very different things is, let's not cross it.

Personally, I'll do anything I can to stay out off the drama and keep doing me no matter what .

I'll take criticism with open arms but any eventual insults to me, my subfandoms or any other subfandom will be blatantly ignored or blocked.

These are the new rules I've decided to follow from now on.

Cassandra Clare is one of the most popular and successful young adult authors of today, however, a huge percentage of her fans have no idea of her past where she was know more for her bullying than her writing. I started this as a post on my “You Should Know” instagram, but eventually it got way too big and I had to create a post for it as well.

Terms to Know

Big Name Fan

Or “BNF” is an old term mostly used during the early 2000s, before ff.net or AO3.

They were the biggest names in fandom, producing the most popular art or fanfics.

Getting on the wrong side of a BNF could lock you out from the entire fandom, as you would be blocked from any forum they (or they friends) moderated.

The Inner Circle

In the early 2000s the Harry Potter fandom was essentially ruled by the Inner Circle. 

Although most of the Inner Circle changed constantly due to fandom drama and scandals, one member stayed for almost it’s entire duration: Cassie Claire

The Draco Trilogy

Draco Dormiens

Author’s Summary: When an accident in Potions class turns Harry into Draco and Draco into Harry, each is trapped playing the part of the other. Romance, mistaken identities, Really Cunning Plans, evil bake sales, a love triangle, and snogs galore.

Draco Sinister

Author’s Summary: When Hermione is kidnapped, Harry and Draco must team up to rescue her from a thousand-year-old evil that threatens the entire wizarding world. Cursed demon swords, love potions, time travel, dementors, flying dragons, Draco wears leather, and everybody dies at least once. Except when they don’t.

It is notable for being the source of the Draco in Leather Pants trope as well as the catalyst for the Cassandra Claire plagiarism wank.

Draco Veritas

Author’s Summary: The sequel to Draco Sinister, featuring winter at Hogwarts, snogging, Quidditch, mysterious things and Rhysenn Malfoy.

Why was the Trilogy so popular?

As most people in fandom probably know, there’s usually two subsets of shippers: gay and straight (please note that, back in the early 2000s, there was still a lot of homophobia, and the heterosexual ships were undeniably more popular for that reason).

Since The Draco Trilogy had both Draco/Hermione and a lot of Harry/Draco subtext, fans of both ships flocked to the fic.

The Plagiarism 

Although she’d done it all along, it wasn’t until the second fanfic, Draco Sinister, that fans began to catch on. What was “it?”

Cassie including a lot of quotations from other work. And I mean a LOT. She lifted entire conversations and paragraphs from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, and Terry Pratchett. At first she didn’t even mention this “inspiration,” so everyone assumed that this wit was all hers.

Once she was called out, she put a standard disclaimer at the top of her work, which was worded to imply that she might have borrowed a few, small quotes here and there, not that she was taking paragraphs and scenes. When she was called out for her continued plagiarism she switched to claiming that she “forgot” what her sources were.

Finally a former fan called Avocado got tired of it and reported her to ff.net. Within a day her works were taken down.

Predictably the fandom melted down over this and accusations began to fly. Cassie used her status as a BNF to ban anyone mildly critical of her from any message board or mailing list. A friend of Cassie’s claimed to be a real life lawyer and harrassed young fans with seemingly legal threats. There are even threats of people calling the police in an early form of “swatting.” Cassie tried to get a “hater” kicked out of university for “hacking” her and a REAL lawyer had to be involved before Cassie admitting to making it all up.

After all that began to die down, as she was working on the third installment of the trilogy, Cassie began accusing her friend and fellow BNF, Aja, of plagiarizing her. When that failed to incite the anger she wanted against Aja, Cassie began to claim that Aja was posting leaked spoilers for the Draco Trilogy. This infighting between the two lead to the collapse of The Inner Circle.

Laptop Gate

Although the third part of the Trilogy wasn’t as popular as the first two, due to the plagiarism scandal, it still racked up a ton of views when she began posting it. So when there was a potential threat to the continuation of the saga, readers were horrified.

This potential threat was a break in and the loss of Cassie’s computer.

Almost immediately after the robbery was announced Cassie’s lawyer friend (who was also her roommate) popped up again. This time, they were raising money to replace the laptops of Cassie and her roommates that had been stolen in the break in. Any extra money from the fundraiser would go to some vaguely mentioned charity.

Divisive comments poured in.

Some people expressed frustration that more “meaningful” fundraisers (like someone who had lost everything in a fire) didn’t get anywhere near as much attention and support.

Fans were even less happy when no proof was provided of either the break in or the charitable donation of excess funds (which was reported to be over $10,000).

When called out they changed the subject and posted links to another fan that was also fundraising (although they never posted any charity before or after, even when asked to do so the lawyer friend claimed to be “too busy” to share a link).

Published Works

After enjoying her celebrity as the Queen of Fanfiction, it’s no surprise that Cassie decided to venture into actual, original published works.

Except they weren’t that original, because it’s Cassie and she really, really seems to like “borrowing” from herself and others.

Let’s start with some name changes

Cassie

Cassandra Claire (with an i) is her fanfiction name

Cassandra Clare (without an i) is her published name

You may be surprised by how well this name change suited her. For a long time, before exposes began to be posted, you could google her published name without finding out about her history in fandom. Additionally, some of her victims from her fanfic days read her published books without realizing who the author actually was (until they started to recognize the quotes and paragraphs that she’d lifted straight from her fanfiction)

Her Writing

“Mortal Instruments” is Cassie’s Ginny/Ron incest romance fanfiction.

“The Mortal Instruments” is Cassie’s published work, about two fake siblings who fall in love with each other.

Similarities to Harry Potter

Now I haven’t read Mortal Instruments or The Mortal Instruments so I’ll let someone who has read them both do some explaining:

When I opened the book, I knew that Clary was Ginny. Alec was Harry. Isabelle was Clare’s version of Blaise (who back then was not officially male or female, and could therefore be interpreted by fandom either way). Valentine was a strange mixture of Lucius and Voldemort. And Jace, of course, was undeniably Draco.

Jace is so Draco, in fact, that it’s impossible to see him as his own character. The way Clare characterizes Jace is the exact same way she characterized her Draco. They share lines (the ones she didn’t steal from Buffy, of course), they share nervous tics, they share appearances, and they even share memories. The second I read the scene in which Jace tells Clary the story about the boy and the falcon, I felt an unpleasant jolt of recognition: that story is one Draco tells in one of the Draco Trilogy installments. I couldn’t remember which one. I couldn’t even remember who Draco told it to (Harry? Ginny? Hermione?). But I knew it was if not word for word taken from her fanfiction, it was very, very close.

Yikes. That’s a lot of similarities.

The same person I quoted about went on to say that the fanfiction was still much better than her published work, and that she’d rather re-read the fanfic than the non-fanfic.

Sherrilyn Kenyon and Dark Hunters

Almost immediately after The Mortal Instruments (the non-fanfic one) became popular, Sherrilyn Kenyon slapped it with a lawsuit for copying her urban fantasy series, Dark Hunters.

Kenyon fans attacked Claire fans, Cassie’s history was brought to light, and Cassie got to pull out her favorite argument “you hate me because I’m Jewish.” Which is interesting, because I’ve been working on this for two weeks, and I only just learned that she’s Jewish when I read about her accusing others of anti-Semitism.

Now as Cassie apologists will tell you, Kenyon did ultimately lose that suit, but it’s really, really starting to get repetitive over here.

I’ll borrow a quote from Ryan Givens, “If you meet an asshole in the morning, you met an asshole. If you meet assholes all day, you’re the asshole.” Or in this case, maybe you’re the plagiarist.

My Thoughts

I don’t like Cassie.

I really don’t.

And look, I’m not saying that Cassie is a narcissist, but here’s a fun little saying called The Narcissist’s Prayer:

That didn’t happen. And if it did, it wasn’t that bad. And if it was, that’s not a big deal. And if it is, that’s not my fault. And if it was, I didn’t mean it. And if I did… You deserved it.

Does any of that sound familiar, because it should. It’s basically Cassie’s text book responce of “avoid admitting fault until there’s too much proof, say I didn’t do it on purpose, blame someone else, claim to be the victim, find another person to accuse of drama.”

Now I’m going to again quote from ProblematicYA because I absolutely love their writing. In this quote, they’re talking about how all of Cassie’s books, even those set in different times or cities, follow the same pattern. Non-Shadowhunter meets Shadowhunter (who is basically Draco).

So what’s really my problem? My problem is the fact that Cassandra Clare is a marginally talented writer who has one story and one cast of characters up her sleeve, and yet somehow she’s sold millions and millions of books based on this. My problem is the fact that Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series was partially copied from her fanfiction trilogy, which copied a plethora of other authors, not even including J.K. Rowling, who provided her with the characters, premise, and setting for her beloved trilogy. My problem is the fact that Cassandra Clare is in the authorly equivalent of a time loop, and has come full circle. My problem is the fact that Cassandra Clare is, in essence, writing fanfiction of her own work, and it is getting published and she is getting paid bank for it, when other far more original and talented authors are getting absolutely nothing for their hard work. I may despise Stephenie Meyer and the world she’s created, but at least Twilight and its accompanying works are her own original product; at least she deserves to reap the benefits of the crazy fandom she’s inspired.

Look. I don’t believe in dredging up ancient history just to hurt people. Shit we did when we were teens shouldn’t be held against us as adults. People grow and change a lot from what they were as teens.

But bitch, you actually have to GROW AND CHANGE. And Cassie hasn’t.

Also, try actually apologizing for what you’ve done instead of silencing critics.

For this argument to still be used against Jensen...I mean, it feels like these people don’t want destiel to be made canon, so they’re using Jensen as their scapegoat despite the heaps of evidence directly against what they argue. (I personally have a theory they both felt kinda bad for not speaking up about it like Misha did, but they are both extremely private about their politics - or they were until Trump came to power.) They have both since been quite active in their support of democrats in Texas so any claims that Jensen is republican are false. Besides, I doubt Misha would be such good friends with anyone who actively voted republican. I like to think we can judge a persons character by how Misha Collins sees them. Jensen is a good egg.

I think it’s more about how the narrative built them up rather than the actions.

The narrative made Tai out to be a guy who was struggling to put his life back together for the sake of his kids and had a definitively good relationship with all of them and would go to the sun and back for them. Then it turned out that not only did he drown himself in his work, but he also opted to garden instead of go with Yang to look for Ruby.

Notice how he tries to treat ‘struggling to put his life together and ‘drown himself in work’ as if they were happening in the same timespan, not, you know: one after the other. Dudeblade, you don’t get to rewrite the order of events to support your headcanon while arguing it to be truth.

And let’s honestly think about this for a second. Do we REALLY want yet ANOTHER character to the cast? I could give the same argument of ‘he’s suppose to teach at Signal’ but let’s address the actual reason why Taiyang can’t go with Yang: He serves no purpose. There is NOTHING for him to do as Yang’s issues need to be dealt with by Yang, Ruby is closer to Qrow, we already have Qrow as the tragic member of proto-Team RWBY. We already have issues between Oscar and Jaune, we don’t need ANOTHER fight for screentime. So the question is: Do you want Taiyang to eat up screentime, especially considering your hatred of him is because of your issues with your mom, or can we just accept the excuse since it makes sense AND prevents more writing problems?

Willow, on the other hand, was made out to be neglectful at best, or abusive at worst. Since she got married to Jacques and ended up being an alcoholic, she was indeed made out to be neglectful.

Willow is portrayed as a victim who incidentally caused issues with Weiss, since her being an alcoholic is DIRECTLY related to Jacques using her. And by your rules, that means she should be attacked.

And Port and Oobleck are right...why again? Also refer to my previous argument about this.

But let’s give the benefit of the doubt here. let’s say that Taiyang wasn’t teaching because he was taking care of Yang. Then why does the narrative choose to show him gardening instead of teaching or defending Vale/Patch?- That was a choice on the narrative to show him gardening instead of teaching or clearing out grimm. Which means that either a) Taiyang wasn’t teaching at the moment (In which case, that needed to be better conveyed to the audience),  or b) that Taiyang is slacking off.

Because the narrative needs to show Taiyang noticing the feather of Raven in order to communicate that he knows she’s there. It also gives us some insight into what he actually thinks of Raven (seeing as he looks miserable at the sight), connects Raven to the home in Patch (which itself acts as the grounds where the family lives) and makes Raven more pitiable (The ONE person left who might have accepted Raven is visibly miserable at her arrival? That’s pretty fucking sad even for Raven.)

Also, what canon evidence do you have that Taiyang is absolutely needed to teach at Signal? What evidence do you have for Taiyang even teaching at all?- That’s all your headcanon.

I would have less of a vendetta against Tai if he was shown in a classroom, or out in vale clearing out some grimm when Raven went to him, but the narrative chose to show him gardening. Which is a poor look for Taiyang.

If you ignore everything we know about school, like days off, or the limitations of the budget while also maliciously misinterpeting scenes: sure.

My debate with a destiel shipper

@artificial-strawberry  Thank you for your response, and not just cussing me out.  It is nice to know what is going on in your head.  First of all, neither I nor any of the other disgruntled fans I have encountered have any issues with ships.  We have issues with militant destiel fans behaving in a way that we think might endanger Jensen and Jared.  I have receipts on that. 

People don't hate them for nothing.  And I have never seen destiel shippers do posts about bad bullying and death threats online behavior towards Jensen.  The good ones don't police their sides. They quickly say ''we are not all like that''.  So please understand where my irritation is coming from.  Mine and everyone else's.

You’re entitled to your own opinion. You don’t have to ship destiel. And you’re right, Jensen and the others do probably have a lot of power on the show, and maybe I should have phrased that more clearly: since I’ve seen some people blaming Jensen/Misha for not advocating for destiel bc ”they would be able to make it happen”, I wanted to point out that 1. they probably DON’T want to make it happen and 2. even IF they did, this is such a big decision that the writers/producers most likely wouldn’t listen to them if they were completely against it. Were the roles reversed, however, and the writers wanted to make destiel happen and the actors didn’t, then yes, Jensen and Misha probably could tell them not to do it if they didn’t want it to happen.

Actually only Jensen, Jared and Bob Singer [unfortunately] are allowed to make decisions regarding the script.  Misha is not a lead and no longer No 3 on the call sheet.  He is a guest star [not a series regular] whose time on SPN has only increased because the season has been shortened.  Contractually, he is still doing the same amount of work, but it just appears that he is making more appearances.  This, according to the SPN spokesperson.  He has no clout in the decision making process.  This is what I find baffling about you, don't speak about Jensen and Misha equally when it comes to decision making.  Misha has no power.  Jensen has power.  Speak about them individually.  So yeah, Jensen can make changes.  Misha, and he had said this so many times, has no power to make changes.  Not only has he worked in fewer seasons.  He has worked in less episodes. 

Misha, according to another destiel fan, wants destiel to be canon.  You are saying he doesn't.  Meanwhile, Jensen gets an arson threat for telling the truth too many times.  So no, this is not a live and let live situation.  There is no destiel.  It is a fanon ship, not a canon ship.  And only Misha gave his fans the impression that it could be canon.

What you said about Misha, I can’t necessarily verify. I haven’t seen all the things you talked about, but it is true that he has ”joked” about destiel in the past. We can distance ourselves, he can not. He gets stories written about himself giving blowjobs to one of his best friends. We do not. So the fact that he jokes about the ship might be something he does in order to make fun of the thing that makes him uncomfortable. And I understand that.

There were news reports written about this.  Just google ''Misha Collins accuses Supernatural of being gratuitously misogynistic''.  You will find the articles.  It won't take you two minutes.  What was the result of that?  Misha fans, at his behest, starting rallying together to attack SPN for misogyny and demanded a spinoff.  Their campaigning lasted three years.  That spinoff is Wayward Daughters.  It failed due to bad ratings because only Misha's fans truly wanted it.  Everyone else didn't care.  So the spinoff didn't have an audience.  So Misha, and his big mouth, costed SPN time, money and resources but they can't get rid of him, because of Bob Singer, his wife Eugenie and her writing partner, Buckner.  That is probably why older SPN writers like Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Jeremy Carver just left.  They got fed up of dealing with Misha's antics and constantly shoehorning Cas into a script and they know it.  Bob keeps Misha and Cas on board.

alright so here’s the baseline for bullshit that’s happened in the last week (as far as i’ve seen),

starting off with the little things, especially since people are probably so tired of ric122, but he has apparently recently deleted his lordebuttercupz account only to create a new one and basically expose himself right over again. jeez dude, how desperate can you get to want to have someone draw “adult wendy marsh-testaburger and stan marsh with their son, sam marsh”? he also seems to be asking people more frequently, but that may just be me following too many blogs that get asked way too much, no way to be sure.

now, onto the bigger thing that has happened recently (actually VERY recently)... there’s another huge problem with the kymans and cartman haters, which i’m not too surprised about. however, this time, it was started over a video a user posted making fun of (for lack of a better word) a drawing another tumblr user’s artwork showcasing styleman (stan x kyle x cartman) which the original creator stated as being used for bait anyway. personally, i think the video was unneeded, it’s not that difficult to take up your grievances with the original creator on the original post, but i digress. anyway, this obviously sparked controversy pretty fast (as the person who made the video is a popular blog) with both sides arguing. the “kyman is abusive” thing is popping up everywhere again too. warning, the rest of this is probably going to be pretty opinionated so if opinions scare you, i’d click off now. regardless of which side you are on for this (honestly unnecessary) argument, it’s never okay to harass people. remember to mind your fucking business! in my opinion, the video was pretty petty (AGAIN, for lack of a better word) but i’m not saying that as some angry kyman shipper either, i’m saying this as someone who hates kyman, would never ship it, and frankly doesn’t like cartman all that much either. however, what kind of mindset do you have to have to think it’s alright to harass people? newflash guys... it’s a fictional ship, i’m not saying kyman is right in any way, i just think it’s quite idiotic to fight over a fictional ship, they’re 10 year olds and they’ve ALL done some shitty stuff.

anyways, that’s all the discourse i’ve seen recently, though knowing this fandom, there might be more.
