fic writer interview
thank you for the tag @testarossa, this was a lovely indulgent way to spend an evening. @prettydangrotten, @onadarklingplain and @rockyteriyaki, if you care to play I'll put my chin in my hands and kick my feet as I listen like we're in a 90s movie sleepover
How many works do you have on ao3?
22 posted
What’s your total word count?
total word count: 166,741
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
they're all in the Daredevil (Netflix) fandom, and all Matt/Foggy. Let's swap chests today (mutant AU), Invisible Ink (Tattoo Artist AU), A Wizard Did It (um.... Magical Statue AU?), Indelible Ink (Tattoo Artis sequel) and Shampoo, Rinse, Repeat (or how I ruined haircuts for myself for four years). Do you see how I gave myself a complex about only writing AUs?
Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
I try to! I've been fairly good about it recently. But I've had periods where I've been almost entirely out of fandom, and there's a pile in my inbox that are years overdue replies. And I reply because they make me feel good and I want to appreciate that! Every now and again I sit down an answer a pile from, like, 2020 with a biiiig apology and it genuinely lifts my spirits to do so.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
dust and ashes. sometimes we process grief on the internet!
but for f1 rpf specifically, well. That'll be either the living and the dead or no second chances, depending on which mid-season driver change devastated you most.
What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
oh god nearly all of them in some way or another, I love a happy ending (in fact there's an ask in my inbox right now that's indirectly about that). in terms of feeling like sunlight after a storm, three's a crowd. the rest are more soft landings after a gentle flight, imo.
Do you write crossovers?
Sort of. I've written MCU fic that crossed over with X-Men before Deadpool got there. And there's some others languishing in my G-drive.
If AUs based on established media count, then yeah, definitely - I've got some (thinly drawn) ideas for Inception and James Bond F1 rpf fics.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don't think so! if I have, I forgot. I forget many things.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, yes I do. And it's getting smuttier. What kind, um- idk, there tends to be a plot attached, or a plot emerges eventually. It's mostly slash? (Does Rule 63 George count as slash or nah??)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have a vague recollection of reading something once that made me go 'hmmmm' but once again, my memory issues save me from recalling if it was actually a thing or if it was a two Dennis the Menaces situation.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but I had my first podfic made this year! nony podficced positive negatives and don't like a gold rush, which is great because I consider them sister fics.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I am cowriting one right now with @latecomersprivilege. It's about the Australian GP and orgasm denial. Yes, this year's Australian GP. We're so good at meeting deadlines and writing in a timely manner (it's completely my fault).
What's your all-time favourite ship?
Merlin/Arthur, from BBC's Merlin. I only have one Merthur fic that I've let stay alive, but Merlin still occupies such a peculiar place in my life. I watched every season live, I participated in fandom to an extent I probably never will manage again - I loved those boys. I love them still.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
that one enjolras/grantaire fic that was going to be my magnum opus and ground to a halt at 20k. Some folders of my G-docs are cemeteries.
What are your writing strengths?
Worldbuilding, I think. Or, since that's quite a broad term, creating worlds that feel lived in. I'm not necessarily coming up with crop rotations and a full economy, but I think I'm good at suggesting the picture continues beyond the frame of the story. Also, I like to think I have a grasp on rhythm.
What are your writing weaknesses?
length length length. I hit 20k in a doc and my brain stutters to a stop, which means I really struggle with executing ideas that deserve longer. I am also very bad at editing. This is a terrible trait. And I write slooooowly.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I get very nervous about this as a mono-lingual person, because I don't want to end up turning actual languages into catchphrases? But I also want to reflect how our international blorbos speak. I do LOVE when authors make a point of saying someone is speaking in French etc vs English, even when it's translated for the reader, to make a point about intimacy.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
harry potter. scoured that from the internet a while ago
What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to?
I have an elaborate strollonso fic in me. Unfortunately I do have to write the 50k galex fic it's a sequel to first. And, uh, remember what I said about length being a weakness of mine?
What's your favourite fic you've written?
I did a five favourite fics ask a couple of months back, and it mostly holds true, but I think I have to add three's a crowd now, because it kind of snuck up on me as a concept, and I damn near hated it by the end of writing it, and then was embraced so kindly by readers I could actually look at it anew and remember why I wanted to write it. And that's quite precious.

✨Hello, 2024!✨
I'm excited to share with you a few projects I'm hoping to start posting this next year, while also branching out on some new things, such as new pairings, a different POV, and even an attempt at an original novel by myself. Cheers to the next year!
⌘Sweeter Than Fiction
(InuKag, modern au, strangers to lovers, librarian/hockey player au, eventual smut, fluff)
Summary: Kagome Higurashi is a loner, something that has never bothered her. She has her close friend, she has her favorite books she devours every chance she gets, a family who loves and supports her, and she is in her final year of college, with a dream to become a writer. Kagome’s content, but in reality, she wishes for adventures and excitement, much like the characters in her books. In steps the captain of her college’s hockey team, a rude, unruly, and cocky hanyou named Inuyasha Taisho, and suddenly, her whole world is turned upside down.
Keep an eye out for some fabulous art by @clearwillow with this one.
⌘How To Train Your Human
(InuKag, space/other world au, strangers to lovers, eventual smut, chaos, fluff, funny)
Summary: In their 250th year, every youkai receives their human familiar after they complete all the necessary tests and read the handbook on how to train their human. Even Inuyasha will, despite being the first half demon to do so. He expected a kind, docile human as described in said handbook, similar to how his mother was when she met his father. So what does he do when Kagome Higurashi, his human, is the exact opposite?
Keep an eye out for some fantastic art with this one by @heavenin--hell
⌘Terms and Conditions
(InuKag, modern au, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, eventual smut, angst, fluff)
Summary: After the disastrous day I had, there were two things I was certain of. One, Inuyasha Taisho, the country’s most eligible bachelor, was going to be my fiancé, and eventual husband. Two, we might kill each other before we ever make it to the altar.
Also planning some fabulous art with @brain-rot-hour for this one as well.
⌘Gifts for amazing people in this fandom.
I've been working with a select few others in creating gifts for the amazing readers, writers, artist, creators of this fandom, so be on the look out for some one-shots and drabbles of our favorite half demona and modern miko, along with new pairings that I'm dipping my toes into.
⌘Becoming Theirs (An Original Novel)
(new novel, modern, strangers, stalker, dark, humor, fluff, smut, healing my own inner trauma with this one)
Summary: Charlotte's life has been turned upside down with meeting Jackson and Elliot, only for her entire world to be shifted again when a past danger reveals itself.
⌘ Maybe/Maybe Not's:
(depends on all the time I have)
Epilogue Chapter to 12 Days of Smutmas: InuKag Edition
Sequel to A Deal With A Demon
Bird In A Cage (InuKag, strangers to lovers, dark and twisty, feudal era and modern au, fluff, first time, teaching, smut.) Summary: Kagome finds herself escaping a fate bestowed upon and stumbles upon a whole new world, where not all are who they seem to be.
Currently celebrating hitting the 400 mark in followers. If you would like to be added to the tag list or removed, please let me know, so I can update it. Also, if there's anything you're excited for, feel free to let me know! I will happily let you know when a new chapter is coming. I'm finally at a point in my life where I have time and energy to create new things and push my creativity. And I'm so beyond excited to share it all with you. Happy New Year! ✨

i enjoy a lot of your metas and i'm curious, what is your opinion on writers who aren't familiar with or care about canon?
it depends on if you're asking about fan content or actual DC writers. with fan content i do think its fine for people to engage with content however they want to. i don't really like content that contradicts established canon, but i do defend its right to exist in the first place. OOC fanfic doesn't usually* effect already existing canon.
adding a read more bc i started to rant a bit. TLDR: fan content creators can do whatever they want. separately, i really wish DC held itself to a higher standard. both as a company and in terms of the actual comics that they publish.
(*i say usually, because a lot of newer canon content has felt... off. like DC took a short shallow look at how fandom simplifies characters and decided that must be what people actually want to see/what will sell more product. never forget that DC is a corporation, not an actual person who cares about the artistic integrity of what they're producing. and many of the actual creators of the comics they sell are mistreated and beholden to exec decisions based off of. y'know. marketing.)
in canon comics. it sucks. Talia is the most prevalent example of a character who was rewritten by someone who refused to read or engage with any of her preexisting canon. but it comes up a lot that sometimes a character is used by or given to a writer who doesn't care or might just straight up hate the character they're supposed to be writing. I have characters that I don't like and don't really care to learn about, but if i decide that i want to write something with them involved i consider it a matter of personal integrity to at least try to understand the characters already established personality and background.
it doesn't matter when it's independent fan content, or even a published AU series, but for mainline comics it is important to account for the fact that most of these characters have been around for decades and you shouldn't, nor do you need to, just make shit up about them.
also! an idea that i try and maintain for any kind of story is that every character is somebody's favorite. i think i got that from someone talking about how every pokemon is some kids favorite, but i think it can be a useful framing for a lot of fictional content. especially with something as widely known as DC, the chances are that much higher that every character you see is going to be someone's favorite. and i want to be kind to that. like, i don't care about Punchline in the slightest. i'm still putting off this fic with her involved because i want to learn her character a bit first to at the bare minimum acknowledge that there are people who might love her. i don't want to explicitly contradict some major trait of hers just bc i don't like her.
again, i don't really care if fans don't go through the trouble. but it's upsetting when DC itself doesn't seem to require any understanding of their characters in what they publish. in older comics, even when i think certain comics are poorly written, i can still see when the writer cares about the character they're writing. but so much of the newer stuff just feels hollow to me. i dunno, i stopped reading any n52 stuff bc of it so maybe it'll improve and i just won't notice.

Hey Aerie! Did someone really just fucking stole an idea from you??? Wtf I'm mad about this.
If you don't want to talk about the werewolf (!!!!!!) Neil au bc of that I totally understand, but I would also listen if you'd talk about it! (I'm maybe a little bit feral about werewolves... I know you like vampires a lot ;-) but I am a slut for werewolves...)
I hope you are asleep right now but have a great day when you read this!! Love you <3
Unfortunately I was not asleep when I got this last night. Lol. It was 2am and I had just laid down. :') <3333 But I love you! <33 Also omg werewolves were my shit when I was younger, then somehow it swapped to vampires? :'))
Also if you want I'll tell you about the 'fic-stealing incident'. It was really annoying but it all worked out and I will now be writing it for the Paranormal Fic Fest instead. YAY! So nothing truly terrible happened but it was stressful and annoying at the time.
Beware: super long ramble under the cut. Unless you're Cody c-lion you probably don't wanna open that. :'))
The reason I never talked about this on my blog is because I figured somehow people would think I was in the wrong and send me mean shit. :') But what happened was... I signed up for the big bang again this year.
I wasn't going to because last year my artist partner literally disappeared and the mod didn't bother to tell me they dropped until I asked if they could check on them. But I figured I'd try again anyhow. So I came up with two ideas. (One being demon neil, which I submitted for the bang. And the other was werewolf neil, which I am SO insane about.)
I wrote outlines for both and decided to use the demon neil one. Then I got my partner assigned and they... Hardly ever responded. I mean, I answered them within minutes. It would take them several days to reply. Every single time. Then it got to a point where they just didn't answer at all for two whole weeks. I figured they were ghosting me, like last year.
They message me the day before the check-in and ask if the art idea (that I suggested) would be alright. Like. They hadn't started at all. I hadn't either, since they had disappeared. I didn't answer. Instead I told the mod I was dropping. And they said they would have another writer write my fic for me. Like...
Uh... It's the first check-in. The artist hasn't done shit yet. Why on earth would you give my fic to someone else? Like normally, this might not have been a problem. If I had been really vague with my idea. But when I wrote out my prompt I gave a lot of detail. I thought the more the better, so the artists would know what they would be working with. However...
Since I gave so much detail, they would've been writing My Fic. Not just a random au where Neil happens to be a demon. I mean I gave a simplified version of the plot? So. That would've been so suckish. But I explained to the mod that I wanted to keep my idea and they said they'd reassign the artist to a different writer instead.
So everything worked out in the end. But I was very, very upset when it was happening. Like... I had a bit of a panic attack. Which sounds stupid I guess. But I had planned this all out and I was in love with it. You don't kidnap a baby and hand it to some rando? TwT (My writing is all I have. I'm aware that it's sad, but it is true.)
Anyhow! I won't be doing a random partner event ever again because the last two have sucked. :')) (This is no shade to the mods or anything. I get it must be hard to run stuff. But partners disappearing and stuff... Sucks major ass. I don't wanna have to depend on a random stranger for a partnered thing.)
The first bang I ever did was amazing! It was for a different fandom, back in like 2017. But the partner I had for that was awesome and really sweet. We were friends for a while afterwards. So I guess my expectations were too high I guess? :')
But yeah! That was all that went down. Nothing terrible in the end. I just got very autistic-ly upset about my baby almost being snatched. (My friend's dms were... full of me blubbering about it:')) That being said! I will definitely have to come and talk about werewolf neil at some point! (And... maybe... add him to wipw... Eventually...)
If you read this far you're a saint. I love you! <3 Muah.

For the fandom ask game (if you have time with the horrors of schoolwork):
9. Write a recommendation of someone else's fic you enjoyed!
14. Is there a character or ship you were so sure you would never write/draw but now you've changed your mind? (and if you fancy it, tell us how you'd write them...)
19. What's your favourite thing about [fandom] (the people in it, not the media you're all enjoying together)?
22. Give us a headcanon for Megatron, any continuity
Weirdly now we're in a static situation again... things change drastically day after day it's unreal💀
9: okay ooof I'd recommend literally all the things I bookmarked but uh let's see:
We are the music makers by lord squiggletits
Moronic acid by chuzilllaa
Shockwave making waves by now anonymous
The lottery by Ladydragon76
Oh and the sequels of the lottery too. My GOD. I've read that work so many times aaaaaargh. Between these are just some of them, but I am 100% forgetting other equally great works by other writers. Ah so many, so so so so so many.
14: mh at first I was kind of hesitant about anything regarding Ironhide, because I didn't know him as a character and he didn't really appeal to me... so when I stumbled upon bayverse!ratchet/ironhide I was like "huh... okay. Tell me more?" And really these two are super great together????? Like not just in thw bayverse, as a whole they're *chef kiss*
Also I think I also stumbled upon Bayberse Optimus/Ironhide at some point and while I also was unsure about it... oh my god they are perfect. One of my favorite otp as of now!!
And uh yeah I want to write about them one day, I would go with some kind of bodyguard au, but like using some of the main tropes, like Ironhide is the "bodyguard" canonically sometimes so yeah it would work.
Also I like bayverse Ironhide and his warrior origins and culture, I wanna do something with it and use it.
So uh banter, fluff, fighting (and training) as a form of flirting, middle aged men that don't know how to communicate like normal people, maybe I will also do something with my third-gladiatorop-au. Depends. But I will let them smooch 100% (and when it happens you'll be the first to know✨️)
19: other than being full of great artists, and I mean AWESOME like guys come on please how how ajshfjgujggjt. And writers, like FUCK I've cried so many times because of y'all, I once got out of the bus at the wrong stop because of a fanfiction. This fandom is full of very creative people that come in infinite shapes and forms, like seriously even when writing simple smut some of you are genuinely mind blowing because you come up with things that are... CRAZY and in a good way! But absolutely crazy!!!!
So yeah this fandom is cool, there's... more than meets the eye to it ✨️
22: so like... I have many headcanons regarding him like:
His fighting style resembles a dance, a deadly and mesmerizing dance. Optimus (my headcanon) fights like a wounded animal but when facing him he follows the rhythm Megatron sets and "dances" with him. Very beautiful spectacle if you forget that one of them could die... or maybe it adds more charm to it.
He massages. Idk lol I have one work published and 3 wips in which he massages someone because they had stiff joints or smth. Maybe I have a kink idk. But like not just like that, it doesn't always lead to sex, it's just that I like him tending to someone else when the situation calls
It was Soundwave that taught him how to dance. (This is my Megatron/Soundwave propaganda)
He knows how to play chess, he likes the game, he is a great player, he will never admit it because it's made by humans
He knows how to make impressions and has a sense of humor, which can be unsettling since you can never know when he's being serious or he's fooling around.
Everyone but Optimus say he has the best poker face in the universe. He does, it's not his fault he can't keep his emotions in check when op is around....

HELLO FRIENDS I AM REPORTING FROM THE DEPTHS OF OFMD BRAINROT
If you haven't checked it out yet, you are absolutely SLEEPING on an amazing, vibrant, creative, and alarmingly productive fandom. Please join me in hell, it's lovely in here
Here are some Ed/Stede fics that took me out AT THE KNEES. That left me gasping for air. That ruined my life, and I'd let them do it again, thanks. Current OFMD peeps may find no surprises here, but lots and lots of my followers are not current OFMD peeps and I'm going to drag you down with me if it's the last thing I do ok thanks love you bye
Tree Change by ClaireGregory (E. So E. So very very E.) Ecologists by day, fic writers by night, fuck buddies for one month only (unless…) Claire never misses and this modern AU is no exception. She's turned this into a rollicking multi-layer meta commentary on fandom, fanworks, the creative process, OFMD canon, the whole bit. If you think you found all the layers, no you didn't. In progress, updating every other week or so. She also has a ridiculous wealth of completed fics if that's more your jam. You really can't go wrong with ANY of them.
Temptation 'Verse by Shearwater (T-M, depending - currently heading for NSFW territory but not there yet) Ed's an artist, Stede's a bookseller. They're both a bit surprised to have met the love of their life at this late stage in the game. This one. Oh, this one. I started with Constellationism (the second of two fics currently in the 'verse) and went back to the first with no ill effects. Constellationism absolutely sucked all the air out of my lungs, left me actually literally breathless. The writing is so rich and decadent. This Ed and this Stede are so beautiful. Oh my god. Also in progress, updating less often, but who fucking cares.
Darkness (noun): the partial or total absence of light by fishfronds (M) Stede & Ed cave dive together. As they map a previously unexplored section on a return to their first-ever dive spot, an accident leaves them with no choice but for one to leave the other behind in a barely-habitable, partially-dry cave and send rescue. CAVE DIVING AU. You'll laugh. You'll swoon. You'll gasp. You'll cry. No seriously, there were actual real life tears from me. And you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole. damn. time. This one is brand new AND complete, the product of the fandom's Big Bang that's just recently completed. So there's art too! God, I completely no-lifed this one. I feel like there should be an award for fics that keep me up until the wee hours of the morning because I just cannot put them down. This fic deserves the biggest and shiniest one. Fuuuck.
not pickles by smallestchurch (E) Ed's minding his business when the new neighbor's kid comes around holding a human puppet. It's creepy as hell, but as soon as the kid's father rounds the corner, Ed doesn't mind. I don't even know how to explain this one other than the writing is so original and the kids are so realistically weird and it will fill you with joy and sorrow and love and a kaleidoscope of other beautiful human emotions and it will also make you guffaw so hard you wake your husband up from a dead sleep at 1AM.
Sincerely, Captain Thomas by stitchy In which Stede and Ed are stuck ashore, and accidentally become pen pals. You've Got Ye Olde Maile! A oneshot! Oneshots are my beloved. This epistolary fic takes place between S1 and S2 and plays with language and expectations. Or maybe it does what it says on the tin and I just read it without so much as glancing at the summary. I fucking loved it okay?

Been a while since I invaded your inbox with the intention to feed your brain worms lol- ANYWAYS-
I'm not exactly sure if this will be entertainig enough to answer but I've been thinking of this concept for a while now and since I consume your takes on a daily basis, here I am presenting it to you. This involves both The Party and The Losers Club.
So I've been in love with MrHalloween's AU where Mike Wheeler has Pennywise's power and another artist or writer ( I cannot remember who they are and I am ashamed )'s AU where The Losers Club are all adopted by Pennywise for a very long time now and I really REALLY like those kinds of AUs. Now that got me thinking...
What power of Pennywise do you think suit each Party members? And why?
Like we- as in, the IT fandom- knows that Pennywise can do a lot of things. Expected since he's basically an eldritch horror. He can shapeshift, know your fear, control a whole ass town, can probably go toe to toe with Maturin, and he has the deadlights. So similar to Vecna's curse without the bones breaking and immediate death if not countered ASAP. Pennywise has a wide range of abilities that suits him and I am really curious of what you think each of the Party members would have if Pennywise gives them a portion of his abilities.
This ask is mildly inspired by the Mike fanart that I am currently sketching where he is surrounded by the deadlights and by the AU thay I shared to you back then where the Losers are Numbers and their abilities are their Neibolt selves.
Allen I am so sorry it took me so long to respond to this 😭 I fell down the sims rabbit hole and didn't know how to crawl my way out of it
I want to answer your question simply but we all know me and we know I am not capable of that. Also plz someone send me the link to the post where it talks about Mike having Pennywise's power- I wish to dissect ⛏️
So to answer this question it depends on how you're coming at It- literally. Like we know It is an alien but what's the classification of It beyond that? Humans tend to point at creatures that are below our 'intelligence' and call the creature an 'animal' but what do we call something that is obviously beyond our intelligence and even our understanding but it's not humanoid? This was not part of your question at all I'm sorry but this in itself is worth a conversation, I just love talking about the Dead Lights.
Because I believe It acts with animal characteristics, It only fights to ensure It's survival and It hunts 'weaker' prey- children. Yes I know it's bc their fear tastes better blah blah you know what I mean.
Back to your question at hand- for real this time:
To put it simply I don't think It could just give one specific power to each Party member if It turned them all into little Its, little deadlights so I'm going to have to give you a nonanswer.
Unless It was making Neilbolt versions of them but even then I don't think the Neilbolt versions get It's 'power' per say because technically they are still part of It as a whole.
I'll raise you this though Allen: the Party members having a handful It's power, becoming little deadlights. The reason why It did that is up to you, I'm speaking of all of this in a hypothetical.
So the Party members become little deadlights, maybe they favor certain aspects of the powers that come with that. Like I can see Mike really enjoying augmenting reality and manifesting anything at his whim. Lucas would enjoy the physical transformation aspect and Dustin would enjoy being able to get into people's heads in his quest for knowledge. Will would love having the ability to protect himself now (especially if this in an au where the UD is still a thing) and Max would love the ability to subtly control people. She could make sure no one like Billy could ever hurt someone again.
And El? This goes back to the 'is this au set in one where the UD is still a thing'. If Henry is a thing, El would make a deal with It to get It's power, albeit only a little of it, to take him down. She would make a deal with the devil. In fact- I think all of the Party would in a quest to protect the ones they love and there's you're motivation right there for the Party. Just need to decide what It gets out of this deal.
But here's the thing, if the Party essentially became little deadlights...would they need to feed on fear now? Feed on humans? Do they know about that before they make the deal?
I'll let you decide that ;)

😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
✍ Do you have a beta reader?
⛔ 🎶 ⏳💥 🎃❌
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.
🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?
🤲 Would you please share a snippet of a wip?
(this is so many and obviously feel free to answer however many you want!!)
✨ send me an emoji and ask me about my fanfic! ✨
😈 has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers?
honestly, i can't say that there has been! i mean don't get me wrong, i have certainly been writing EVEN MORE ANGST AGAIN and been like. hmm. the people in my phone are gonna hate me for this :) lol. but that angst is also for ME bc like. that's my jam lol. and i never post unfinished multichaptered fics, so i feel its not likely that i'd ever do this, since i don't get feedback on my writing until after it's already completed, lol.
✍ do you have a beta reader?
i don't! i never have, actually. it is an intriguing idea but i've never been a ~serious~ enough writer for it, i don't think, and i also cringe at the idea of anyone seeing anything i've ever written before i have re read and re-edited it about 50 thousand times lol
⛔do you have a fic you started, but scrapped?
recently, no, but i have at least 10 unfinished fics for various old fandoms that are like. not *scrapped*, per se, but just uhhh unlikely to be completed any time soon lol, some being 10+ years old. i never say never but like AM i going finish that OC-au of the mentalist season 6 where somebody is trying to attack all the "psychics" in texas because they have a grudge against what some fake psychic told them like 10 years ago???? honestly, probably not, lol.
🎶do you listen to music while you write? what song have you been playing on loop lately?
yes, i do! can't write in just silence, usually, but it can't have words, either, because i can't hear Words and also Write Different Words, lol. recently i have been listening to 70s-80s Japanese city pop playlists (here is one of my favorites!) since i don't speak the language and it also is such a vibe. in the past i've also done the in love with a ghost vibes, lofi girl, and instrumental synth-wave, as well. i also really like the artist City Girl for that reason, and i think my favorite album of theirs is Neon Impasse. I listened to that on loop a lot writing ttnp!
⏳how long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
this is a very difficult to answer question because it depends on a lot of factors, lol. I have written 20k words in two days before. I have also gone weeks only writing a thousand. it depends on how much free time i have (recently, almost none, lol), how much down time there is at my job (i wrote a large portion of ttnp in down time at my job, and there is not going to be job down time for the foreseeable future unfortunately, which has really put a damper on things). as long as i am at least mildly inspired or motivated, and have ample enough time, i can get a lot done, usually, but it all depends on a lot of factors.
💥how do you feel about criticism?
i am made of tissue paper pls dont hurt me akdshdjfhf i am actually very much okay with and welcoming of it, actually, bc without it, i would never improve. definitely needs to be in good faith, because being made of tissue paper isn't entirely a lie lol, but if there's something i have done poorly or something that i have the opportunity to do better next time, i am always happy to take it into consideration!
🎃do you write fics for holidays? what is your favorite holiday inspired fic?
hmmmm well i actually never have but i love the concept and i am hoping to get to do it this year ;) ;)
❌what's a trope you will never write?
for an actual trope i'd probably have to think a lot longer and harder than i have in answering these questions so far, lol, but one thing i can say, though it's not a trope, is that i'll never write smut. your local sex repulsed asexual is just not about it, lol. which is not to say ive never read and enjoyed fics w/ smut in them!!! i just skip ahead until it's over, lol.
🧠pick a character and i'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them!
omg i don't know which of us is supposed to be doing the headcanoning but i'll go ahead and assume it's you ?????? and my pick is iceman. pls tell me ur fav headcanon !!! i am excited !!!
🤩do you have a favorite character to write?
recently, it had been maverick, to no one's surprise, lol. what can i say. somethin' about the inherent trauma just speaks to me <3
🤲 would you please share a small snippet of a WIP?
HMMM...... I SUPPOSE..... A SMALL ONE......... ;)
Tumblr media
THANK U SO MUCH for the ask !!! i loved answering all of them and i am so sorry it has been taking me so long to do everything recently oh my god. i am, as bilbo would say (im paraphrasing), feeling like butter scraped across way the fuck too much bread these days akdhfdjfhf but i rly appreciate ur asks and ur support and time and continued habit of thinking of me !!! <3 <3

@vanlagoon replied to your post “”:
I'm gonna sound like an idiot, but what is a "Big Bang" week? And how is that different from a YR week?
*You* sound like someone who wants to learn something new, and *I'm* the idiot for assuming that everyone knows how fandom events work. So I'm glad you asked so I can rectify this mistake!
A theme week is a week-long event, where every day a prompt is given for content creators to draw inspiration from. This could be very general ("AU") or more specific ("beach day"), and people might create art, gifsets, playlists, fic, ... The week is usually limited to a certain fandom (in this case Young Royals) and/or (a) specific ship(s) (wilmon seems like an obvious choice, but you could also choose to focus on side ships). Most often there's no official signups, you join if you feel like it.
A big bang is an event that -usually- runs over the course of several months. When authors sign up, they commit to writing a fic of a certain length by a certain date - within a certain fandom, for a certain ship or even around a single character. Most often they are also paired to an artist, who will then make a piece of art for their fic (again, could be a drawing, but also gifset, playlist, ...). There's many variations - minibangs (e.g. max 10k or even 5k), reverse bangs (where the art comes first and writers write fic based on the art), prompt-bangs (where a third party, the prompter, kicks everything off with a prompt), multi-fandom bangs (like the Finish Your Sh** Big Bang), ... . At the end of the event there is then a "big bang" of fic and art being published over the course of a few days/weeks/months, depending on the size of the event.
Whichever one you prefer, let us know through our poll! For now, the theme week seems to be most popular, but if we see enough interest it's likely we'll also do a big bang later this year, so you'll be able see how it works!

Malevolent Big Bang: FAQ
General Information
What is a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a large-scale fandom event in which writers, artists, and betas collaborate over a period of several months to produce a “big bang” of fan content at the deadline!
How will this event work?
Writers will sign up to write a Malevolent fan fiction (of 7,500 words or more) within the span of approximately two months. Writers’ first drafts will be due at the end of that two-month period, along with a brief summary of their story.
Artist signups will take place the week before writer drafts are due. Artist claims of fics will take place the week after writer drafts are due. Artists will go through a list of anonymous summaries of the stories that have been written and submit their top choices for fics from that list. Artists will then be matched to fics based on their preferences. Each artist will be assigned to one fic. Depending on the number of signups, multiple artists may be assigned to a single fic. Each fic will have at least one artist assigned to it.
Artists will then have approximately two months to finish their pieces. Writers will also have this time to edit their drafts and prepare them for posting. Writers and artists will state their preferences for posting days, and then will be assigned a posting day for their work(s).
Fics and their accompanying artwork will then be posted together on a set date.
How do I sign up?
All participants will sign up via Google Forms during the sign-up periods listed on the schedule. Writers and beta readers will be able to sign up beginning May 5. Artists will be able to sign up beginning July 13.
Can I sign up as both a writer and an artist?
Yes – you can sign up as any combination of writer, artist, beta, and pinch hitter. Please manage your time accordingly, though, and only sign up for what you think you will be able to commit to and complete.
I’m a minor (under the age of 18). Can I participate?
We've decided to restrict this event to 18+; in order to participate, you must be 18 or older when you sign up. We want to ensure participants’ safety and comfort in a space where NSFW content may be created/discussed and where handicraft creators/recipients may exchange personal information.
What social media do I need to participate?
When you sign up, you’ll need to have an email address, a Discord handle, and – if you are a writer – an Archive Of Our Own account.
All important event information will be sent via email as well as in the Discord, but we still ask that all event participants join the server for the duration of the event. You’ll receive a Discord invite link after you sign up.
Help! I won’t be able to meet a deadline or check-in. What should I do?
Reach out to the mod team. We are happy to work with you and your schedule (potentially with an extension), so long as you keep us in the loop!
If you decide to drop out of the event entirely, please let one of the mods know as soon as possible. No judgement or hard feelings – we understand that life happens. As long as you contact us before dropping, writers who drop out before fic claims and artists who drop out before September 1st (the drop-out deadline) are welcome to participate again next year!
Who’s running this event?
The moderators of this event are:
Jay (@bluejayblueskies)
Jack (@organchordsandlightning)
Amai (@amaihinansho)
Bo (@borogue)
You can reach us on this blog or through the event Discord server!
Writers
What type of content can I write for this event?
As long as your fic is centered around the canon characters and/or world of Malevolent, you are welcome to write any sort of content you like! This includes AUs, crossovers (where Malevolent characters are central to the story), and NSFW content.
We ask that you clearly label sensitive content (including, at minimum, AO3’s four major archive warnings), both when submitting summaries/claims and when tagging your fic before posting.
What is the minimum amount I need to write?
Your fic must be 7,500 words or longer. There is no maximum word count.
Why is there a word count minimum?
We want to encourage participants to challenge themselves and undertake bigger projects than they might otherwise. Also, longer fics make it easier for artists to create pieces that both they and their writer will enjoy!
Can I talk about my Bang fic outside the event Discord?
Until artist claims are finished, fics are secret – writers, please do not post publicly about your WIPs or discuss them outside of the event Discord server’s writing channels.
Once an artist has been assigned to each fic, event participants are free to publicly discuss their fanworks (and assigned artists/writers are encouraged to discuss their fanworks with each other)!
Can I co-write my fic with another person?
For this event, we ask that there only be one writer per fic. However, if you would like to consult somebody during or after the writing process, there will be a list of betas to choose from! Additionally, if you wish to write a fic that is linked in some way to a fic that another bang participant is writing, that is acceptable provided that you are both writing separate, individual fics.
Can I write more than one fic?
For this event, we ask that your contribution be limited to a single fic.
Are we required to work with a beta?
Nope!
I’m a writer who wants a beta reader for my Bang fic. How can I find one?
We will have a google form that writers can fill out to request a beta reader. That form will be located on the event Discord server.
Artists
What type of art can I create for this event?
Your art must be based on/inspired by your assigned fic; it will accompany the fic as a companion piece. During signups, you will be asked to select which form(s) of art you’d be interested in creating for this event:
- Digital/scanned art - Podfic (an audio recording of a fic read aloud) - Physical artworks (including bookbinding, embroidery, jewelry, knitting/crochet, papercrafting, quilting, sculpture, etc). - Other digital artforms (fanvideos, musical compositions, etc.)
If you’re unsure whether a specific art form is allowed, send us a message!
You will be matched with a writer who wants to receive at least one of the forms of art you want to create. We ask that you communicate with your writer and create a form of art they are interested in receiving.
How do matches work?
During the claims process, you will receive a list of fic summaries, tags, relevant warnings, word counts, and other relevant information. All fic summaries will be anonymous. You will select your top five fic choices and submit them to us, and we will assign you a fic to work on. Each fic will have at minimum one artist assigned to it, but depending on numbers, there may be multiple artists assigned to one fic.
What is the minimum amount of art I need to create?
If you are creating digital/traditional art: one digital/scanned art piece not on lined paper.
If you are creating a podfic: one complete, edited podfic of your assigned writer’s entire fic, plus a cover. Any music included must be royalty-free.
If you are creating a physical artwork or other artwork: we’ll ask you when you sign up what one complete fanwork will look like in your chosen medium - use your best judgement.
Can I create art for more than one fic?
We ask that, for this event, you only create art for your assigned fic (unless you are pinch hitting for another fic). Once the event ends, however, you are free to create more art for whichever fics you wish!
Pinch Hitters and Beta Readers
What is a pinch hitter?
If an artist needs to drop out of the Bang, we will contact our pinch hitters – artists who volunteer to help fill in and ensure that every Bang fic receives at least one piece of art!
Pinch hits will be sent out via the event Discord server. If you accept a pinch hit, you’re committing to creating at least one piece of art for the fic in question by the stated deadline.
How do I sign up to be a pinch hitter?
Pinch hitter signups will take place from July 13 - July 29. There will be a Google Form provided at that time for prospective pinch hitters to fill out.
What is a beta reader?
Beta readers look over a fic before it is posted and provide feedback for writers. Essentially, betas are editors! Depending on the author’s preference, they may be asked to check for spelling and grammatical errors, cohesiveness, flow, plot holes, characterization, etc.
How do I sign up to be a beta reader?
Beta reader signups will take place from May 5 - July 29. There will be a Google Form provided at that time for prospective beta readers to fill out.

QUESTION. FOR. YOU!
What is your favorite part about PMATGA OCs, AUs, etc. There is a whole community of PMATGA fans here on tumblr, who has their own AUs, OCs, and content here dedicated to the show, used as comfort, or just something for fun!
Me personally I like how AUs, and OCs allow people to be creative, and explore new ideas without having to stary from strach.
So here is my second question: What is your least favorite part about AUs, OCs, etc. Because there is always one negative thing people hate about something.
Again, me personally, I dislike when some OCs are really similar to a pre-existing characters, or Now on accident is different. Pre-Existing characters can be used as a good reference to rhe lore you have to follow, or help you build up your own for that Fandom.
Final question before this Tumblr Clown-Cat signs off, What are your thoughts about self-inserts? And with my final personal opinion on it: I personally find Self-Inserts fun, and harmless. But one thing is when the self-insert is extremely Overpowered. Having an OP OC isn't bad, it could actually be pretty interesting if done carefully to have it make sense in Fandom.
That's all I got for now, Yup, AdrienDaCat signing off. Bye-Bye!
OH BOY- WHAT AN ASK. 👀
I am very glad you have asked this towards me, as a majority of the fandom my opinion isn't as strong but I can say I do have a few things to say. :)
- Your first question: My favorite part about the OCs and AUs when it comes to PMATGA is that no matter what it is the artist/writer is making, the way the created the au and oc is always so creative! It interprets just what could be made of most of the show's materials that we get inspired by, whether it be the characters or the plot that makes absolutely no sense sometimes, there's always something that we see in the show that gives us creativity to make our own masterpieces. Plus let's be honest, a lot of the OCs us PMATGA-TIES make are just so gorgeous in both design and writing (like uh Queen Serafine *COUGH*). So it always makes me happy when there's something that strives most of us to make little guys based on this silly show :)
- Your second question: Sometimes when it comes to some OCs and AUs, most of our community forget that there's still limits on what it should be about. Like in my old posts when I was still new, it contained situations that are uncomfortable to talk about, especially in the old version of Sirened AU. (which my mutuals and followers know it was once named Suicidal) Sometimes there's limits to what we are supposed to include with each of our OCs and AUs, and some don't really notice that. That's pretty much the only thing I least like about the fan works, but if it's written correctly and displayed well, then it's not much of a problem in my eyes. And about the pre-existing characters, I think that's something that's pretty common, I mean I know a few people with OCs that act very similar to some of the original cast 🥲
- Your final question: Self-inserts I don't mind at all! Personally I find them fun and some of them are actually hilarious when it comes to the interactions they have. This answer is pretty short, but it's pretty much all I can say about self-inserts. They're harmless and fun, it just depends on what the interactions are to me.

✨🎈🕯️
I'm very bad at the tumblr games but at least I'm doing it rn! (the writer ask game)
✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
Oh, for sure it's my iKON AU fics, like "Out of Sync" which is a story about one guy figuring his asexuality out while constantly navigating confusing world that sees him very weird (no resemblance with the real life existing artists, consider it as borrowing vague personas to play toys). It's somewhat personal story, somewhat enchanced for hurt/comfort, but I'd be proud if people took time and cared about people whose experience doesn't align with theirs to understand (or I'd even appreciate different opinions cuz I'm curious how'd everyone see the main character's struggles) If we take Thai BL fics, it's "Yok is Art" because character studies my beloved and I really put all my adoration for Yok as a character in this short story, please read it and tell me you love Yok too ^^
🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?
My style can be described as a 'chaotic coder'. I was told I write like a programmer write their code xD Here and there, filling out needed things, putting blocks to try and make it work, switch paragraphs, a bit robotic etc.
But I think I'm also easily influenced by whatever I consume so I can be inspired to try and write things in a different mood or style and so I hope there aren't many disappointed readers that liked one fic and think I can write well all the time (can I even write well?)xD
🕯️how do you think engaging with each other through tumblr, twitter, comments, kudos, creates healthy fandom experiences? How do you deal with that if you're not a social person/experience social anxiety?
ENGAGING WITH COMMUNITY IS THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO AS A CREaTOR !!! I do have social anxiety in real life and I'd hate engaging with strangers but fandom communities are one of the friendliest things (well depends maybe if the fandom overall is toxic or not) but responding to people's posts (to just express your opinion) can lead people to wanting to talk more with you and discuss things and leading to more tumblr and twitter moots and discord servers where everyone is happily screaming about one thing or pairing and exclaiming when they see your post or work and giving you comments or writing comments when you read/see something nice is just... giving the best type of energy that can keep you going through life for many many years, definitely recommend to start small and spread positivity and find communities *___*

AUs and why I like them
Yet again, another rant. Another speech. Another few minutes of my life where I am devoid of any direction. I feel like these moments grow more common as school goes on. Maybe its the feeling of boredom, maybe its the feeling that none of these teachers care for me. Maybe its the lack of inspiration. Its probably an unhealthy mixture of all of the above. So what should I rant about? Another god? An alternate world of a character? How about today’s talk be about Alternate Universes(AUs). AUs are a healthy thing for writers. Don’t quote me on this but I believe every writer should at least think up some AU’s for their works. Whether it be a simple change to a pivotal moment in a character or world’s existence which could change the entire narrative, its a healthy brain teaser to imaging a character you already know the past of and change it into something new. Though that's more of an AT(Alternate timeline). Alternate universes are also a wonderful chance to just reimagine your whole world, bringing the same characters but warping them to fit this new environment, whether that be -changing them as if they’ve always lived here or thrusting them into this world unannounced and unaware of its workings is always interesting. I feel like AUs and ATs get such a bad rap because of the Undertale fandom. Of which I formerly am, and I am a little ashamed of it. However it led me to new ideas and thoughts with every universe. For every character I made suddenly had new possibilities. Characters devoid of feeling could be heartfelt and emotionally driven characters in two separate universes or even timelines depending on the narrative’s path. I would spend hours just writing how certain characters would be different in different universes. Of course not all AUs are good. A good show of this is stealing characters and making them do deplorable things and justifying it because “its another universe, this is in character for this realm.” While this is true, the original creators of those characters could feel off put or grossed out by these changes to a character they put a lot of time and effort into every aspect about them. Though with that said, some creators encourage that. I can not name names because I don’t know them but I believe this somewhat applies to the “Draw this in your own style” challenges I have been seeing. These encourage the artist to change up teh character, albeit slight, to their artistic view. Though it doesn’t really count as either an AT or an AU, it IS changing things in a way that both parties are happy with. Anyways, class is coming to an end and I’m running out of points to make. So I believe I will end this with a happy message. Don’t be afraid to write, whether its just an AU of a character, or an entirely new OC in someone else’s world. At the end of the day, you’re the writer and you get to pick what happens. Enjoy it as much as you can.

Commissions?!
So I know that this is way out of the blue, but this is something that I've been wanting to try for a long time. I figured it might be time to take some big steps for the future, and this is what came to mind. This would also help me out financially since I recently moved into a new place.
Anyway, I’ll try to be as thorough as I can without boring you. And of course, if you have any questions please message me.
To start with, I’ll still be writing my own personal stories but it may be in between commissions or after a determined commission period depending on how many commissions I get.
Then there’s the kind of services I provide. How I’ve broken it down is I write fanfics and original stories, this includes: blurbs, drabbles, and one-shots. That applies to original stories as well, however if you are wanting a series that will have to be something that you and I discuss to see if it’s plausible for me.
Also, I not only write stories but I can offer some editing services as well. Take a look at the services down below, it’s explained more in depth there.
Next, how I will take commissions and how they’ll be paid for. When it comes to asking for a story, It's pretty simple; private message me and we can talk about what it is you are looking for. On the pay side, I’ll be doing this through paypal. Now I’ll be honest, I had a bit of a hard time using paypal but I think it’s all set up. I’ll provide a link to it to my paypal and it’ll take you to a page where you can enter the amount of a commission, write what kind of commission you want, and it’ll send it along (again I’m not use to paypal, so let me know if there are any problems).
Tumblr media
💮Commission Rates for Writing:
100 - 900+ words: $5
1000 - 1500 words: $10

Light editing - $10
This is where I’d give some basic ideas of what could be improved or anything that feels out of pace with the rest of the piece, etc. +grammatical / spelling

If you are not sure or are confused by the information above, do not hesitate to ask. I will try to explain it more thoroughly. Overall, I want this to be a pleasant experience for you if you are interested in any of the services I’ve provided.
So I don’t forget, if you don’t want to commission me consider reblogging this post. It would be much appreciated!
Lastly, please understand that you do not have to commission me. I’m taking commissions to learn to make a living as an artist / writer. Since I was young, I’ve always wanted to make a living off of the things I loved to do and this is a step towards that. Any amount you are willing to give helps! And I figured if I could help some people out with the skills I’ve accumulated over the years then it’ll be worth it.
I want to thank you for taking the time to read through this all, and any of you who have supported me. I am truly grateful!
Stay safe and take care of yourselves, I’ll see ya around!

I've written a lot of fic and posted on ao3 (and way back when fanfiction.net and live journal) and done drabble work (on an old tumblr) and I just don't get why people push back so hard on leaving a comment on something they like.
I've noticed a trend getting worse. Like over a decade(ish) ago when ao3 was in its first few years and ff.net was purging, there was a relatively dependable ratio of hits vs kudos vs comments. Roughly 10% of the hits were kudos. Roughly 10% of kudos would be comments.
I made a post about this a while back but recent years with the advent of things like tiktok and the pandemic happening, fic recs have grown to exist outside the community intended for the rec and certain fic rec tiktoks get thousands of views. Like crazy amounts of views. This happened the last time I was on tiktok with the "Manacled" fic (Harry Potter world dramoine au).
If you go look at the metrics for that fic it has an insane amount of hits with a completely disproportionate (far less than the 10%) amount of kudos and it does have a ton of comments but still less percentage wise in relation to the hit count. And that's a big popular fic. Imagine what's happening to less controversial and less recommended work.
Fandom spaces have grown a lot recently but unfortunately a lot of those people don't see themselves as "the same" as the rest of us and there is a huge resurgence of cringe culture within Fandom now because more people want to just consume content but think it's cringey to be super into it.
Due to the nature of current content creation on apps like tiktok or insta, people also feel both parasocially and distant to created content. What you like defines who you are as a person and has moral implications on your character BUT liking anything Fandom is still cringe and interacting with it past consumption is ridiculous. To a lot of them, it's akin to clapping after a movie.
Imo this is because a lot of the new people in Fandom don't create at all. Most other creatives I know will comment or at least leave kudos. The people who make fic rec lists or amvs or edits usually interact with other creators. Unfortunately this means that the community aspect of things has gotten even smaller. Where most of the interaction I see between non creatives and creators is only requests, but hardly ever critiques (unless they are negative or anti arguments).
Also due to the current state of content creation on things like tiktok or insta there is a huge potential following for hateful content (hate reading to tear a work down). So I have also seen more people say terrible things about artists and fic writers than I do people saying nice things.
We have waves of new people entering Fandom as if it's a commercial space. They aren't engaging with the established community and learning about etiquette. Half the time they don't even follow actual creatives they just follow "curators" that compile fic recs and repost edits.
At one point I had a fic that was 80k+ words with 60k+ hits with thousands of kudos and hundreds of comments. Now I see fics published more recently with similar word counts but significantly less kudos and comments.
I download a bunch of fics to read on my kindle but when I finish I won't delete it until I find the fic on ao3 again and leave a comment. Even if I don't have the spoons for a detailed one, I'll just thank them for their time and effort and tell them I loved it.
Make the time to comment. You can even make your own sort of vague sets in your notes to tweak for each new fic. Even just keysmashing is a cool one to get. People like knowing they've had an effect on others. If no one wants to bother leaving you a comment but thousands of people are reading it, what keeps that person updating? If we don't see our work having an effect why wouldn't we just keep it for ourselves? Why wouldn't we share it only with friends who are guaranteed to read it and provide feedback? Fic writers are just regular people. Scoffing at our desires to recieve feedback and validation is so strange to me. Of course we like to be validated. We're human. We're sharing pieces of ourselves. And if you like it enough to read it to completion, genuinely what is keeping you from spending a minute commenting about it??
I feel old saying this, but I hate how fandom interacts with content and content creators these days. Or more specifically how it fails to interact.
There was a time when if you were a content creator in a small fandom, when you posted something new other members of the fandom would interact with what you made. And not just reading or viewing, but kudus, reblogging, comments, etc.
Everyone in a small fandom used to understand that if only 5% of the fandom is creating, then you should engage with them if you want to see new stuff.
Also, that was how you started conversations and built community was via that engagement to some extent.
Now no one really does.
Like, okay, I'm going to keep writing my fics because I enjoy doing so and they're gonna play in my brain regardless, so they are getting written.
But if I'm not going to find community by doing it, to locate the few other people into this thing, why should I put in the work to format and divide into reasonable chapters and post to AO3?
It's just frustrating.
And everyone who might respond with "you just want validation", that's really not the thing for me, but even if it was, so what if I did? That's not unreasonable. If you want more content and a creator wants validation for the work they put into their content, that should work out fine.
But if you aren't going to interact with the content that is created, especially in smaller fandoms, then don't be surprised when the content stops showing up.

FAQ
“Who are you?”
I’m Sif (she/her/they/them)! I’m a writer, an artist, and I will literally never stop talking. I have an African gray named Cecil, and I love him very much.
“Where can I find you?”
Here on Tumblr, On A03 as Rosae or Sif  - Or on the dreblr discord server
Discord is the fastest way to get in contact with me, asks on tumblr can get eaten and DMs on tumblr are weird for me. I'm not active on any other platforms
“When will x/y/z update?”
I don’t know. Don’t ask me or leave comments pestering me about updating things. I have adhd, and fanfiction is a hobby that I do for myself, so I work on things as I’m able to. My focus is fickle and I tend to jump from project to project, because that’s how I have fun. When it comes to my hobbies, me having fun is the whole reason I do them. Pestering me just makes me want to do it even less. Seriously.
“Can I send you asks about x/y/z? Do you mind talking about x/y/z?”
I'm not going to be upset about any ask sent in as long as it's in good faith, but that doesn't mean I'll answer every ask I get. If I don't answer an ask, it means that I wasn't sure on an answer, I'd answered the question before, or I just didn't feel like it. Odds are it's nothing personal, if I have an issue with someone or something, then I block.
That all being said, I don't answer questions asking for personal information of any kind unless it's something I've publicly discussed. I also prefer that people do not use tone indicators in asks, or if you must, please use full words and not acronyms. I'm pretty good at reading tone in text to begin with, and I run under the assumption most asks are in good faith.
“Can I use your idea/headcanon/etc in my fic/art/etc?”
Yes! People are always welcome to use my ideas/headcanons/etc with credit. You can create stuff set in my AU/make your own takes on them. All I ask is that you don’t copy my stuff word for word (ie reposting), and give credit if heavily referencing my works. You do not need to ask my permission to use my stuff as inspiration, but if you do create something 100% feel free to tag me/send it to me! I love seeing this stuff!
“Can I repost your fic/artwork/headcanon/etc?”
Probably not. I’m okay with my chat posts and non-fictional PSAs/advice posts being reposted to other platforms (with credit). For anything else, I do not allow reposting unless you ask me first (that being said, I do sometimes give permission when asked, it just depends on the post and platform you want to repost on). Translations and Podfics are absolutely fine though!
“Will you tag (specific trigger) or (spoilers)”
Probably not, sorry! I’d like to say that I could, and I try to tag major triggers & spoilers when I remember to, but again, ADHD means I tend to be pretty scattered brained and my tagging is pretty inconsistent as a result. I don’t want to promise to tag stuff when I know I’ll probably forget at some point.
“Do you take requests/commissions/art trades/do collabs/have a ko-fi?”
I do not take formal requests or requests for unrelated fandoms/characters/etc. I love talking with people and discussing ideas, but that’s entirely on my own terms. You can still always ask me about my AUs or offer specific ideas, but if I decide to write anything for it is all up to me.
I am not currently taking commissions, but I do take them every so often when the mood strikes. I already work to support myself, and as I’ve said before, fandom is a hobby for me, so I prefer to spend that time creating things at my own pace. Since I get people asking about it, I do have a ko-fi but please don’t feel obligated to send me anything.
Art/fic trades and/or collabs are a solid maybe at any given time, depending on what I have on my plate. Hit me up on discord if you want to talk about it.
