ramblings, artist commentary and design notes below! (it's a LOT)

holy crap it's finally done. i've been chewing on this for at least a month. not because i had no ideas for the designs (most of the time) but because drawing this many characters is so tedious...

it was even worse than the kompot!regretevator references i did, which had 17 characters! LORD

general design notes:

all of the points' bodies are completely made of glass, through and through. it's "anomalous" glass because they move like people obviously but you get it

all of the points must have their gradients be very prominent. in fact, when stylizing, you can just omit all of the details and color them in only as their gradient lol

all of the points must have their symbol on their clothing, except solgon, naen and yawgate, which have cyalm's symbol instead!

they are wearing pants trust me its just.. gradient pants.. h

SPEAKING OF THE LEGS THEY LOOK LIKE THAT DUE TO LAZINESS. no need to tell me .

per character notes/inspirations (WALL OF TEXT apolocheese):

👽 kompot: who is this guy? you might recognize his hands from the new af2 icon! he's my design for ss2, just an oc :-) if anyone wants to know about him feel free to inquire! (inb4 "isn't he you?" - he's more of a mascot than a sona!)

☁️ cyalm: supposed to look angelic, classy and have a holier-than-thou vibe. clothes are always perfectly pristine. the cloud patterns are animated! the wings are optional, the halo is not!

🛠️ shallare: engineer/mechanic thingy. always carries tools and spare nuts n bolts around. their glasses are safety goggles! also they have soot or oil stains on them most of the time.

🎶 signol: performer, bartender, classy lil thing! their sleeves are rolled up for the sake of playing instruments more easily. long ass coattails and for what... the pizazz...? tch

❄️ compale: cozy winter dweller. kinda russian-esque... i'm balkan so forgive me for that. the inside of their coat is super fluffy! can have optional mittens!

🪓 ploque: woodworker/woodcarver type design. has two bandannas for no reason, but uses the one on their neck while working to deal with the sawdust. only has one protective glove on their non-dominant hand!

⭐ anshine: their outfit is meant to match the angels'/residents of maytown's clothes. wings optional, halo mandatory! their watch is also heavily preferred. their 'sleeves' are a separate, singular piece of fabric draped around their arms

🌒 ulipse: supposed to look like they live in the desert! very covered up to protect from the sun. their shawl/scarf has dangling moon symbol charms all around!

🐉 arrolin: sorry i just love qipao so much.. LNY chinese festivities based! the shawl/scarf draped around their elbows has floaty properties and always remains in place. the dragon patterns are animated!

🤖 mino: robot!! their torso is completely exposed, the only clothing they have is the shrug and the stirrups! the antenna extends, mostly for comedic effect lol

🌔 ixol: probably the one i took the most liberties with? tropical vacation mixed with weirdo freak vibes! their cape is animated like a flame at the bottom! the cracks on their arm are permanent and display a glitched screen. the flame around their head doesn't hurt.

❌ stratosfear: their cape is similar to ixol's, but it tears instead of "burning". their stinger is part of their body despite being disconnected - it also wags LOL. supposed to have both a hero and villain vibe? ended up a cowthey??

⁉️ solgon, 💲 naen, 🔒 yawgate: cyalm's lackeys! they all have the same uniform styled differently. solgon and naen swap their bandannas every few days for fun! yawgate's is based on a conductor's and stewardess' uniform!

Okay okay I have some thoughts to share on stigmas and the way they tie into the wish they made. It's not a fun one as much as it is character study and hoping to figure out how the wish and stigma correlate.

Jin - Bianerus - we all know this one, spoken command that compels you to obey at least for a bit of time. Which to me means his wish was born from a place of helplessness. He was in a situation where he had no control at all, so he probably wished for the control he lacked, the ability to make things go his way for once. This is most likely something with his family, his father and sister have been stated to be assholes so... There's that.

Tohma - Argeas - basically the ability to amplify his voice using waves, or sending vibrations into the ground for earthquake force. A bit interesting how he can use it in very different ways. How this reads to me is someone who feels unseen and unwanted, in a position where they feel they don't matter. His wish was most likely to be able to be heard and seen, to leave an impression. Wonder if it was his family like Jin, that made him feel that way.

Lucas - Iggnaim - a literal shield that can be used to block and bounce things away. This one is very easy, his wish was straight up to protect. To save someone, to keep them from harm, most likely his twin brother. (Full metal alchemist vibes???) So it plays perfectly into his knight behavior.

Kaito - ??? - so he's confusing. His stigma could be the enhanced vision making him able to see farther, clearer, read lips and possibly see auras? Idk how even Hyde is confused about it like why do the teachers not even know??? Pushing that aside, it gives me the feeling that he wished for something along the lines of being able to see through lies. Like he was dealing with constant lying and gaslighting and just people hiding things from him. And this was the direction his demon took the urge to see past falsehoods. (of course this is all assuming he's a ghoul... which I don't think he is *gestures to older post about my headcanon for the house of ardici*)

Alan - Yagsal Olbalsa - some type of super strength, possibly trance inducing as well. Oh I love him, this is a sad one though. This type of power would come from a type of powerless feeling much like Jin. But also similar to Luca. Alan's wish was most likely to defend himself or someone else because he felt completely helpless. He needed power, strength, and it was probably around the time of his father's murder that he made his wish.

Sho - Spurno - jams stuff... Ugh this translation kinda blows. Because I've seen another post talking about the Japanese version of it and jamming is not it honey. It's more like a disorienter, making things go in a different direction than planned. And when it's been enhanced it pushes things away. This is a very interesting one. So his wish could be interpreted as wanting something or someone to leave him alone or go away. He wished for distance by force. This could mean his home life might have been physically or verbally abusive. Possibly from his brother...

Leo - Haxs - enhanced hearing that can be boosted to hear further distances and through soundproofing. This is a tricky one because it could be as simple as him being nosey but that doesn't make sense with a demonic pact, it's not dire enough. He might be similar to Kaito in this regard. Tired of lies and sugar coated words he wished to be able to discern what was true. And his demon said heard, literally.

Haru - Bahnti - lessened gravity on his body for super speed. This man... He's got similar motive to Sho but the opposite direction. Looking at it like this he most likely wished to get away from something or someone. To be able to get as far away as fast as possible. Something had this man scared as all hell when he made that wish.

Towa - ??? - weather control? Can summon lightning and rain and possibly earthquakes? Wait is his power just natural disasters? Okay his stigma is very loose and completely weird to me. Truth be told I personally don't think he's a ghoul I think he's a fae. But if we're going on ghoul terms and he made a wish... Possibly he felt no control in his life. That everything was working against him. Depending on what demon he made a pact with they could have had a sense of humor and granted his wish in a very unorthodox way. Giving him control over weather but it's not by choice it's ruled by his emotions.

Ren - Raothtas - (I absolutely spelled it like the monster hunter dragon the first time ngl) so far it's only been used to clean things. So his is hard to determine as of right now... if I had to guess going by his attitude and some of the things he's said offhandedly I think his dad was possibly abusive and controlling to the point it made Ren hate him and interacting with people in general. Maybe a situation where if he kept the house clean his dad was nicer? Idk I'm spinning my wheels on this one. With not much to go on I can only go so far.

Taiga - Malab - ??? uhhhhh so there's not really anything to go off here. Most likely future sight based or something like that. Until we have more details I can't say anything here.

Romeo - Tiris - makes items into bombs, the stronger his attachment to it the bigger the blast. He is so fascinating for this. I couldn't quite get my head around it at first but I think I have half a thought now. His wish could have been something to do with getting rid of something. Possibly he had a prized possession from someone and they hurt him immensely. Causing him to wish things like physical proof of the connection would just disappear. The demon he made this wish with could have been particularly destructive and decided that disappear meant detonate.

Ritsu - Acimo - hardens his body and garments, nullifying damage. Okay this one seems very on the nose. Clearly he wished for either the power to defend himself or shield someone, or possibly that he couldn't be hurt again. We all know his dad is shit from what we heard so far. I wouldn't put it past him to beat his son. Or it could be other kids at school or anyone honestly. But it feels hard to change the idea that this power and wish came from a place of pain and wanting it to stop, either his own or someone elses.

Subaru - Talnandio - the power to see the past through touch, not really controllable either. Oh sweet multifaceted Subaru... you got traumatized for sure. This type of thing goes hand in hand with Leo's wish honestly. In my mind what Subaru wished for was to be able to see what actually happened or to see the truth. Possibly about the other idol he had an issue with. It could be that the wish was brought on because he felt the need to see what the man had done. Clearly him and Leo have some surprising similarities...

Haku - ??? - motherfucker says he doesn't like using it... I swear to god if his stigma is like fox fire or some shit I will lose it... Not a damn one of these bastards has a fire based power and I'm trying to piece the prologue into this!!!

Zenji - ??? - please give me a hint goddamn!!! I can't write anything for you if you don't sir...

Edward - ??? - *screeching and wailing* what are your stigmas????

Rui - ??? - a temporary pain reliever and healing magic. Rui... can you please get a less tragic backstory my guy? With that type of stigma the wish he made would have been similar to Luca I think. He needed to protect someone, or to save or fix them. Someone important to him might have been dying when he made his wish. But pacts aren't always perfect and you get what you get. If this is the case I doubt whoever he made this wish for survived...

Lyca - Ramsochisa - ability to track things by a smell from memory. Ugh stop it you're too tragic! This feels like it would have come from a wish along the lines of I need to find this person. Maybe Neros, maybe his birth parents. Somewhere down the line Lyca wanted to find them badly enough to wish on a demon for it.

Yuri - Agnihaet - increases brain activity, basically unlocking 100% of the brain for use. I love him because tbh I relate to what I think his wish was for. Someone in his life or a situation made him feel stupid. Or straight up called him stupid to his face. His pride can't handle that. That wish was most likely to be able to prove that he's smart no matter what. So his demon said okay, here's the rest of your human brain enjoy!

Jiro - ??? - involuntary ability to mirror damage onto the dealer, including poison and injections. Ughhhh, my baby... I don't wanna be right. But it's hard to avoid going there. Someone was hurting him, and badly. Enough to make him wish for the pain to stop, for his own safety. For the people or person doing it to him to feel what he's feeling. Almost just a true venegence type of thing. It was definitely from a dark, desperate place that he made this wish. And his demon was thorough about granting it, as it should be... (call that demon me the way it decided to protect him like that)

So in conclusion we have some different base desires in these wishes:

The need for power or control: Jin, Tohma, Alan, Yuri

The need to protect others or oneself: Lucas, Sho, Haru, Ritsu, Rui, Jiro

The need to seek the truth: Kaito, Leo, Subaru, Lyca(?)

TBA: Towa, Ren, Taiga, Romeo, Haku, Zenji, Edward

I'm defintely going to update this in the future when we learn more. I feel like this is a fun character analysis tbh... but zzg gimme the stigmas you bastards!!!

- or ibuprofen and he’d grab sleeping medicine

- it’s just that as a boy (with no sisters or female friends) who has such a strong immune system, and lives in the middle of nowhere,

- this is probably the first time he’s even stepped foot into those aisles

- but luckily, he provides amazing support and company

- if you want to stay in all day and snuggle up to a movie? he’s on board

- those few days will be entirely about you

- he’d be super reassuring if you bled through clothes or sheets, offering to wash them for you

- similar to gon, he really doesn’t know too much about it

- he’s heard of it before, but has never looked into it

- of course, he’d hate to sound stupid when offering help, so he skims through something like Wikihow for a bit to make sure he has his facts straight

- when buying products for you, he wouldn’t know which one to get

- so he’d buy them all, hiding them in the car while he confirms which you need

(i just know silva would be mad confused seeing a $50 purchase of pads and tampons on the card killua stole from him)

- he’s not a touchy person, even if you’re on your period, so expect to initiate everything

- he’d order from your favorite takeout spot, and get whatever else you asked him for

- so in the future, he’s a lot better prepared

- and the next time you mention your period started again, the stuffed animals and heating pad would already be dug out from the closet

- he’s well informed on menstruation, mostly from his understanding of anatomy and books he’s read here and there

- of course, he likely won’t be around all the time

- that is unless you have a particularly bad cycle

- if you’re the type who has super heavy bleeding, sheet gripping cramps, bad mood swings; he’s definitely there for you

- he’d bust out his limited cooking skills, serving up the best dish he can for you (if it’s that bad, he’ll order something)

- though he’s usually not super affectionate, he’d be very gentle during this time, his arms practically glued around you

- he’d stop by on his lunch break and text you the whole day

- now if your period is more tame, he’d still do these things, just to a less frequent degree

- and just saying—he’s not at all scared of a little blood if it’ll alleviate the cramps

- to him, it happens every month, so you should be used to it enough to not need comfort and help

- unless he saw you—with all your usual strength and power—curled up in pain on your bed

- he has a very begrudging vibe about him

- obviously, empathy and care aren’t quite his style

- but seeing you suffering so much.. it does something to his brain

- he’d stay with you during those few days, running all the supply trips you need

- also, he finds your mood swings very amusing, which is half the reason he wants to be by your side during this time

- he really doesn’t know what to do, and the only person he can ask for advice is kikyo

- and i imagine she was the kind of person to tell other women to suck it up because it’s ‘not that bad’

- but as he sees you gritting your teeth, moping around—that doesn’t sound right to him

- he thought he was doing a good job, yet you were still irritated at him

- after you explain it to him, he’s now intrigued by what other symptoms might occur during your cycle

- he’d fall down a rabbit hole, looking for stories of how other people handle it

- and next month he’s even better at taking care of you

- he would already have been tracking it for you, reminding you a few days before in case you didn’t know

- he has a good understanding of periods, and makes sure to ask you specifically what you need from him

- your comfort is always a priority after all

- would still go on his usual missions, but has machi, paku, or shizuku check on you while he’s away

- when he is home, he’s remarkably gentle with you

- the house would already be stocked with supplies, so there’s no need for him to make any extra trips to the store

- additionally, he’s very encouraging and respectful about them

- it’s a natural body process, one that’ll allow you to have children in the future, making it almost sacred to him

Empty Worlds for Builders / Custom Save File Creation!

Hey lovely! Thank you so much 🥰🥰 I actually do have a few suggestions of some worlds that I've tried out & really adored

My best advice for building up your own world is to figure out the vibe of the town you want to build & plan out a few key characters / families and then go with one that best suits it - I tried building my SDV world about 5 times before I settled on my final save lol so don't be afraid to scrap it and start over if it's not feeling right, you can always save the lots / families to your library and plop them somewhere else!

Brightwater Bay by SimsOnTheRope

This one was so nearly the one I used as my basis for Stardew Valley because of the big river running down the middle, but I wound up thinking it was too big to work for my purposes, regardless it's a really beautiful world with a lot of nice set dressing and is worth looking at if you're wanting something similar!

Halley by NovaPark

The colour palette for this world is gorgeous! It's so lush and full of greenery and I also really like the road design - if I was gonna build a town in this world I'd probably use the big spring / waterfall in the middle as a big lore plot point (eg: maybe it has magical or special scientific use & its use employs a lot of the townsfolk?) so many opportunities for storytelling here!

Covington by Jackob

This one is a bit on the smaller side, but you have lots of room to place more lots if you do need more space - the scenery is lovely as well - there's a clear area for the town centre & city hall which is something I always like in empty world because it gives you some guidelines to go off of rather than starting totally from scratch planning-wise

Deery Meadows by MySimRealty

This one is a super nice standard residential world, it would be great for a costal / fishing town vibe because there is a lot of big lakes and abandoned boats scattered around, I also really like the road style in this world (something I'm pretty sure no one cares about other than me LOL they're just very aesthetically pleasing & look super clean)

Igginima by Cink's Sims

This one is one of my favourites for scenery but I haven't found quite the right use for it for my personal saves yet - it reminds me of a remote scottish island, and you get the impression there's a lot of lore here you can play with, there are a few pre-built community lots but they're mostly just for decoration and you can just delete them if you'd rather start from total scratch!

Southbridge by Sims3Time

This one has a really nice desert vibe if you're looking for something less green! (the other ones on this list are all quite similar so I wanted to give another more unique option)

Oakshore by Pleyita

This one is small as well but it has quite a few lots packed into the space which is why I thought I'd give it a mention! Would be great for a small-town suburban kinda vibe if that's what you're going for, it kinda reminds me of Sunset Valley

Storybrook County Lite by MySimRealty

This world is massive if that's what you're looking for! It's got an area for farmland and adjoins to a more industrial city part as well, a really great all-rounder if you're looking for a big project, I also love that it's got so much attention to detail with the different road types in the more rural areas and barns / hay bales scattered around the farming bits

Vintage Champs Les Sims by Franglish et Chocolat

This is the world I used for my SDV project so I'm sure you've checked it out already, but I have to give it a mention because the scenery & set dressing is some of the best I've ever seen, it's stunning, and I'm constantly discovering new details & little things for my sims to explore even after working in it for months

Shout out to this repository which is a fantastic resource for cataloguing old worlds, the blog isn't active anymore but there's a lot of worlds reblogged on there and it's well-organised into different categories, also mysimreality has quite a few empty worlds & this creator on MTS has emptied a few of the EA worlds if that takes your fancy!

I'd also thoroughly recommend checking out Mercury101's world scenery pictures, their blog is always a go-to for me when I'm looking for new world options as they have loads documented on there :)

Diasomnia sexuality (and some gender) headcanons I just wanted to yap about for no reason:

Malleus: Demiromantic Bisexual

-> There's that joke that he doesn't gaf about gender as long as it's Yuu, but (for the demiromantic part) I also like the idea that he's ride-or-die, sentimental and clingy for anyone he gets close to. So generally the only difference for how he cares about people is the type of attraction + specific boundaries (can be slightly possessive in a different way for a romantic interest? Idk)

-> Also not really sexuality but I see his gender as that "I'm probably nonbinary but I have a job so idrc about that rn" tweet but for being the next king In general I think being acespec & nonbinary would be extra perplexing for bro since he never stopped to think about personal identity stuff like that for too long (too duty-pilled🥀)

-> Being dense about regular emotional experiences + actual difference in the norms of attraction and gender add to the gap of understanding between him and others

Lilia: Bisexual (not really a sexuality but he's also polyamorous)

-> This isn't sexuality again but I also think transfeminine Lilia is cool, I genuinely believed that Lilia was just a woman with a really deep voice the first time I saw him (I was watching him vs Leona in Book 2 out of context). There's no way to easily explain this in English but by this the specific identity i see him as is basically 'bakla' in the Philippines. It is really its own gender identity in our culture and isn't a "direct equivalent" of any one anglophone label, but for the sake of non-filipinos i guess you can just understand this to mean i see Lilia as "nonbinary transfem in the Filipino way"👍

-> I think it would align with his story in a good way with how she's maligned by the senate and such, how even as a soldier Lilia was coloring her hair for style. It's also like that thing where a guy who was already considered obviously effeminate and "one of the girls" atp (I see Meleanor as kids playing with Lilia in typically "girly" ways and encouraging his cuteness/hair styling) comes out later on as actually a girl/fem nonbinary

-> General Lilia is this is that type of situation where a transfem person can't really go all out with their expression because current life-threatening circumstances require "masculinity" or their focus to be exclusively on external matters (in this case its Lilia being a lowly bat soldier in an active war. Similar to Malleus, an idea of patriotic obligation stops him from really questioning or exploring since the country needs "strength" and "unity" in these times, there was also just really little time to wonder when you're fighting for your life everyday). But after retiring Lilia is able to realize she likes being perceived as cute and begins going all out in her appearance👍

Silver: Aroace

-> Thought it would be a kind of cool subversion of the usual fairytale prince archetype Silver is made to emulate, where romance is the greatest and purest love and marriage is THE happy end. I think it aligns with Silver wanting to spend his life "repaying" the kindness of Malleus and Lilia; if they asked him to think about gertting a family of his own in the future, I think he'd just say the true love he's found in life is already them. A knight who dedicates his lifetime devotion to familial love instead

Sebek: Gaylm

-> One of bro's most notable character gags is glazing another man at every opportunity so yeah /j. Also fsr I just can't see him as a man romantically with a woman no matter what lol

I have seen these names a lot like A LOT and I know a lot of people say Mattheo is the son of Tom Riddle. Can you tell me who are they related to and like what is their personality like

it’s definitely not a dumb question, love! let me break it down for you:

so, lorenzo berkshire, theodore nott, and mattheo riddle are all fan-created characters that have become super popular in the fandom. there’s no right or wrong way to portray them; it all depends on what people want their personalities to be like!

lorenzo berkshire: he’s often written as a slytherin and is usually fancast as louis partridge. he was created by @/babynaomi on wattpad in her fanfiction 'filthy'. he’s known for being one of the sweetest, kindest slytherins out there—but don’t let that fool you! i like to think of enzo as a bit of a mischievous troublemaker. he’ll smile sweetly, but behind the scenes, he’s probably the one setting up a prank. you know, the “who, me?” type!

theodore nott: theo is also a slytherin and is typically fancast as lorenzo zurzolo. he’s that dark, mysterious guy that everyone is drawn to, mostly because he’s so quiet and brooding. his dad (who actually is canon in the books!) isn’t exactly “father of the year,” which is often why theo’s so closed off. i like to think he’s that guy who seems intimidating but really just wants to be left alone with a good book and some peace.

mattheo riddle: mattheo is another slytherin, fan casted as benjamin wadsworth. he’s often imagined as either tom riddle’s son or brother, but most people (myself included) like the idea that he’s tom’s son. he’s got similar mysterious vibes as theo, but mattheo’s more outgoing. he’s the guy who’ll drag theo out of the library and into trouble with a mischievous grin, like, “come on, let’s go cause some mischief.”

at the end of the day, these characters are all about how you want them to be! it’s all in good fun, so go with whatever version you vibe with most.

FIRST UP QIU LIN!!! I gave him a fletchling cuz they're one of the speedier birds and I feel like it just fits him yanno? And mimikyu also suits his personality I think, I can totally see him being super kind and befriending it and UGH. My heart.

I limited myself to two pokemon for this piece but I was also considering KIRLIA!! (because ballet, I'll probably draw this one at some point), deerling (coz autumn lol), pumpkaboo, ninjask, duskull (coz of his halloween costume), and just for vibes: riolu, charmeleon, jolteon, pikachu.

OKAY TAMARACK TIME!!! My first pick is teddiursa, I think, purely for the cuteness factor, plus they stand similar, it's sooo cute. Next kricketot (because cello), seedot, polteageist, politoed and for some more vibe ones: phantump, leafeon, togepi!! (oh my it fits her so well), joltik, comfey, bulbasaur, cleffa.

now for nobody's favourite, mr baxter alexander ward. So my first thought was gardevoir, specifically mega gardevoir because it looks like a ballroom dancer (plus the shiny has a black dress), but yeah he would definitely have a galarian zigzagoon as a teen (coz he listens to heavy metal i think?), aaand otherwise i had, zebstriker, gothitelle, mightyena, wooloo, and shiny roserade (coz it's fancy)

And lastly Ren! I'll be transparent- I do not know a lot about her,,, yeag my bad, so I just have all the fox pokemon put down for her, vulpix, nickit, fennekin, zorua- but also Volcarona I think would fit her vibes.

It's me again, back with the Gender Analysis

I wonder if this will be controversial. I hope not.

But, probably, because even with the wonderful additions of @cloverandcrossbones to the ElfShi mannerisms post, people are still misinterpreting Senshi. People are calling him a twink? A femboy?

I'm going to look at various character's clothing, both in setting and in the daydream hour modern setting. I'm going to be using words like "feminine" and "masculine" but please bear in mind, I am going off what is seen as "typical" or "expected" - that is to say, what would not be punished or criticised by average society. I am not saying anything is inherently one or the other, bevause I don't believe anything can be inherently feminine or masculine, since those are terms made up to describe things. Like how something can't be inherently romantic. We assign these things.

Okay, that said, let's begin.

Let's look first, at two other Dwarves

Daya and Namari

We see them here, wearing what is presumably typical clothing for dwarf women. So let's take this as "Feminie Standard" for Dwarves

Here are some more outfits

Now we see a distinction between Daya and Namari. Daya's dress is now much more feminine, covering knees, while Namari's dress is still in Feminine Standard, but with slightly less frills. I would say Daya here is High Femme for Dwarves and Namari is just Average.

This is confirmed when we see them in modern clothes

Daya is wearing the cutest sundress, and even holds herself in a more delicate, feminine way. Whereas Namari is pretty neutral. Nothing particularly feminine or masculine. This may dissappoint some people, but I don't think Namari is that butch. She's certainly on the 'butch'er end of the lady spectrum, but she's not giving dedicated butch to me. More sort of, low effort comfy lady vibes.

I would say that both Namari and Daya are comfortable presenting as, and being seen as, women.

Okay, now we're going to look at Senshi

Senshi and Namari's armour is basically identical, except Senshi opts for a tits out look, probably because he's not actively combating as much as Namari.

Senshi having his chest out is not unusual for dwarf men, nor is covering the chest. Seems like dwarf men are similar to modern day human men. I'm jealous.

So, Senshi's armour is pretty much Masculine Standard. Or perhaps Dward Standard. But it doesn't give us much information on how he chooses to present.

For that info, we need to look at modern clothing Senshi

A Hawaiin (?) shirt and a dress shirt with a tie. A tie! For sitting on the couch with friends. Everyone else is dressed casual and Senshi chose to wear a tie. Even if he just came from work, he has not loosened it.

Look how nice his hair is! He's taking care of his looks. He cares about his appearance. The tie is a choice.

Now, I dunno about you, but this level of care is not Masculine Standard to me. Its like, Masculine+. He's not doing it like Namari, but he's also not over performing Masculinity. I'm calling it Masculine+. What it certainly is NOT is feminine. He also has the same body type. Because you can't change your body type (well, not easily).

Senshi is a bear. 'Bear' within the gay community refers to the body type of fat, hairy men. It is not in reference to behaviour. Same, I believe, is true of twink. Bears can be effeminate in their behaviour. As has been artfully illustrated in the previously mentioned post, Senshi acts effeminately. That's his behaviour. It's a part of his presentation but, it is not about his appearance.

Senshi is an effeminate bear. He's big, he's hairy, he cares about how he looks, he likes to dress masculine, and he likes to act feminine. He's still seems comfortable presenting as, and being seen as, a man.

This is what I personally mean by Genderqueer. Where you're not all the way within the expectations of society. He isn't acting the way a dwarf man is expected to act. He dresses the way a dwarf man expects to be dressed. He's doing Things with his Gender. Things that would make average society go "hmm...bad...".

This is long, so I may do a separate post for analysing Marcille and Falin. But that's my take on Dwarves.

This is of course in no way saying you can't headcanon! Or draw dress up! I love that shit. I just also feel strongly about acknowledging what IS and ISN'T in the source material.

I've been having a hard time finding fics that have that sort of care put into how tom and harry are written, with realistic motivations, actions and great dialogue that fit the characters. i saw someone else on this account give two time a pokemon team, so i got inspired and now im giving every survivor/killer a partner pokemon

survivors:

Noob- munchlax. munchlax is known for eating things, and all noobs abilities are food based, so i assume they like food. generally i just see noob having a lot of normal types 

Elliot- chansey! chansey give the eggs that they carry to other people/pokemon to heal them, kind of like how elliot gives out pizza. elliot is a nurse joy confirmed

Two Time- the anon that inspired this said they would have a shedinja, and i think that’s fitting. or they’d have a mimikyu, because it fits with the whole “second life” thing with its disguise ability. generally i see two time being a ghost type trainer 

Chance- Meowth. it loves coins, aka MONEYYYY which i imagine as a gambler chance also loves. he’d probably try to get rich using payday.

007n7- Porygon Z! porygon Z is a pokemon essentially made out of corrupt code, which fits with 7n7 being a hacker

Builderman- Machamp. In the anime/games machamp are often shown being construction workers, so i think they fit buildermans vibe.

Shedletsky- Sirfetch’d. It’s a bird with a sword, and i see a lot of people make shedletsky some sort of bird creature. ignore how it’s a duck and not a chicken tho

Dusekkar- Gardevoir. I definitely see him being a psychic type trainer, and gardevoir are known for using their powers to protect people, similar to Dueskkar

Guest1337- Arcanine. In the anime growlithe/arcanine are often used as police dogs, so i can see them being used military wise as well. also 1337 just feels like a dog lover to me

Killers:

Jason: Dragalge. this one’s mainly based off vibes, but i think it fits. i wanted to give him some kind of pokemon that lives in the water, bc in the friday the 13th movies jason is someone who drowned and spends his time lurking around in a lake

1x1x1x1: Banette. a doll that was so full of hate after being abandoned, it came to life! very fitting for mr. embodiment of hatred

c00lkid: Rotom! A pokemon who causes mayhem and chaos by messing with technology. fitting for a chaotic hacker! 

John Doe-this one was difficult, but eventually i settled on hydreigon. a big scary monster with nothing on its mind but destruction, kind of like john.

Growing up with them (Kid, Law, Buggy, Caesar)

There are so many avenues for this fun ‘what if’ scenario. It’s not possible to have befriended all of them, so why not add a few extra possibilities? They were your neighbor, so there were only a few ways your relationship could go.

CW: SFW, gn!reader, headcanons/scenarios, some fluff, ‘neighbor’s kid’ vibes, slightly humorous tone, AU territory so some speculation has been applied, spoilers for Dressrosa(?)

Kid: feral child, feral child! No one can tell me that he wasn’t the wildest child when he was growing up.

He was sucked into his hobbies involving building and metal. He loved roughhousing, backyard wrestling, cookouts, and swimming pools. Summer was his favorite season growing up because it gave him every excuse to do whatever he wanted, and no one had the right to tell him he shouldn’t.

Water soakers, playing ball in the house and inevitably breaking something, sharing scary stories around the campfire, and probably sent to summer camp so his parents could have a break: these are the vibes I get when I think of his childhood.

Being friends: you had to meet his freak because he wasn’t going to slow down.

He wanted to explore, so being the adventurous type would bode nicely for your friendship.

You’d spend some days down by the lake catching frogs only to set them free shortly after. He was very much interested in building all sorts of things, so you’d help him gather materials, which often left you venturing out to strange places.

He threw the classic “What are you? Chicken?” at you when you weren’t as gung-ho as he was about anything.

As reckless as he could be, he’d do well with a friend who could be the voice of reason, helping guide him when he was too in the zone to see the reality of the situation.

He’d argue with you, get mad even. This boy’s stubbornness wasn’t going to allow you to talk him out of something if he had his heart set on it. He was either going to listen to you or he was going to have to learn the hard way.

Hope you didn’t tell him “I told you” for your own sake.

This hot-headed boy could be a handful, making it hard to avoid arguments at times. Being of the same temperament would make blow-ups a recurring issue. 

That being said, you were still children and most likely got heated over things like “which character would win in a fight” or about who rightfully won your card game.

Even if he was always on the move and doing something, I could see him enjoying something calmer like catching fireflies. You could take the jars you captured them in to your secret hideout where you’d camp out for the night.

He played rough though, so if you ever agreed to wrestling, there was a slim chance of you making it out without some sort of injury.

Uninterested in you: you were a bore to him. There was no sugar coating it.

Even from the few interactions you had, those were enough for both of you to realize that you didn’t want to bother.

Having similar hobbies helps a lot when building friendships, especially when it comes to children. However, I can’t say that this would be the main reason for him not being friends with someone. I could see it being boiled down to more of a personality issue.

You couldn’t really find common ground, not that he was really looking for any.

He never got why you liked some of the things you did, and you felt the same about him.

You viewed the other as weird and tried your best to ignore each other. That was easier said than done with someone like him, though.

An enemy/competition: he’s competitive, he’s aggressive, and the fact that you were just as good if not better than him made his blood boil.

You pushed his buttons and even when he screamed at you, you kept pushing. But, he was going to show you that he was no one to mess with.

Using the knowledge he’d gained from tinkering with various objects, he set up a few pranks. Some were a tad cruel because he wanted to humiliate you. 

Even if you saw yourselves as enemies, he had mixed feelings when one of his pranks made you cry. Depending on a lot of factors, he may send you anonymous sweets (cookies, chocolate, or candies) to make you feel a smidge better.

When you were back on your feet, you both kept your competition under more control, though there were times you were both tempted to cross that line again.

Law: a tough cookie to crack and even more so after escaping from his home country. I tried to take into account his personality before and after that incident.

He was very determined academically, part of which was to make his parents proud but the other was from his own genuine interest. Dedicating time to studying, enjoying sitting outside while reading, and could get irritated easily when his routine was disrupted: he appreciated a sense of calmness and balance but still had moments when he’d lose his temper.

There weren’t many who went out of their way to befriend him because of his unique hobbies, so that made him more of a loner. That wasn’t anything to be sad about in his opinion. He enjoyed his alone time and the few people he hung around were cherished.

Being friends: you mostly likely approached him, to which he was standoffish for quite a while.

With all his staring at you, observing your habits and quirks, you couldn’t help but feel like you were being looked at under a microscope.

It was his way of building up the confidence to hold a decent conversation with you. Once getting a good enough read on you, he’d be much more open to chatting. You’d feel a little less like a stranger even before you began talking to each other.

Being attentive would be appreciated, but he wouldn’t really care too much if his friend was clumsy or careless from time to time. As long as you were kind-hearted, he could overlook those small flaws rather easily.

Although being a nerd wouldn’t be a necessity by any means, it would be fun for him to geek out with someone over Germa 66.

Let’s say you were a big fan of them like he was.

His eyes lit up when you first mentioned it and he ran to show you his favorite merchandise. You’d play with the action figures together, probably draw them while sitting quietly, and then ooh and aah over each other’s art saying what you liked most about their drawings.

Now, let’s say you weren’t a fan of them.

He wouldn’t bring them up unless you asked about it. Maybe you made a comment on one of his figurines, for example. Despite wanting to go on and on about them, he picked up on your body language and sensed it wasn’t your thing. That was fine with him, though. It wasn’t his only hobby, after all.

Even though he was far from the type to take risks and would most likely protest against any dangerous activities (i.e. baking and/or cooking without parental supervision), he really needed someone to push him out of his comfort zone. The little nudges from someone he came to trust were more helpful than he ever realized.

Neither friend nor foe: he was cautious of you for a little while, trying to gauge what your deal was before ultimately deciding he didn’t really want to engage with you.

Perhaps you were too brash for him. He wasn’t a scaredy cat, but he was extremely cautious, meaning being friends with someone who was too reckless would stress him out and probably make him feel like a babysitter.

You may be too quiet. He could be pretty quiet himself, but trying to befriend someone who was even more soft spoken could present some challenges.

Maybe you were far too unpredictable. He enjoyed order and normalcy, which would mean being around someone who spoke and/or acted before thinking would have him practically breaking out in hives.

At best, he avoided you and let you do whatever it was you were doing.

At worst, he shot glares at you whenever you crossed the line.

All in all, he tried not to involve himself in your life too much.

An enemy: there were so few people who lit a fire under him to be viewed as competition, so you most likely took the enemy title.

The easiest way to have made an enemy out of him would be upsetting his little sister. He was a protective big brother. They fought like any other siblings, sure, but he never tolerated others treating her like that.

He’d be on you like a hawk at that point. So much as breathe in the wrong direction and he’d be there to scare you straight.

Intimidation would be his strongest weapon—vaguely threatening you with his knowledge of human anatomy and the least frequented places where you lived.

If you just came after him and disregarded his sister, it’d take a bit longer for him to deem you as a full blown enemy. He’d simply hate you for the longest time until you just pushed a sore spot that sent him over the edge—giving you nightmares at the very least.

Buggy: How patient are you? Because he’d be throwing you curveballs no matter the relationship you two had.

He was known as the loud kid and class clown. He wanted so much attention which made it hard for others to ignore him. There were a lot of mixed feelings about him, especially in the neighborhood.

Was the kid who sent out invites to his birthday to every single kid in class, in the neighborhood, and at the corner store just to have a few show up to his party. He kept his head high, even if it was getting to him.

Being friends: it wasn’t hard getting him to talk to you. Hell, it wasn’t even that difficult to get him to hang out, but he was very wishy-washy with his interactions.

He never failed to put himself out there. You couldn’t help but think that was endearing.

I can’t necessarily see him having been partial to his friend being introverted, ambivert, or extroverted. A friend was a friend, and so long as they treated him well, that type of stuff wasn’t of any importance.

However, it would be a must for you to have a sense of humor. There was no way around that. He wanted to laugh and make you laugh, so someone who was the more serious type perhaps would have made things much too difficult.

Though he put up a good front, making people think he was some tough guy, he was super soft and squishy on the inside—really just needing someone to be vulnerable around. That was something he could find in you. Though it took what felt like ages to get to that point, it was all worth it.

Sleepovers were a massive thing for him. Your parents liked him, albeit thinking he was just a tad odd, but were happy that you had made a friend nonetheless.

There were tons of games you’d play together which tended to involve forts: pillow, blanket, and cardboard mostly. When you played pirates, he insisted on being the captain. Despite his confidence in leading you and your crew of stuffed animals, you ended up having to take control on most missions.

Even when you thought you were having a good time hanging out with him, he had a tendency to leave suddenly, most of the time making up an obvious lie. When you tried talking to him about it, he was often dismissive and just wanted to forget about it.

You weren’t sure how to take that. It kinda hurt. You quickly understood not to take those moments to heart and just boiled it down to Buggy just being Buggy. Even if that were the case, you hoped he would eventually lower those walls—one day.

Weird in between: You caught him peeking over your fence and popping back down. He wanted more friends, but he wasn’t confident.

He couldn’t gauge you, couldn’t figure out who you were exactly and the way you carried yourself made him want to keep his distance.

As hard it was for others to ignore him, it was almost just as difficult for him to do the same to them. He was always aware of everyone, or at the very least, he checked them out before deciding if they were worth the trouble.

Even if you were indifferent towards him, he’d try his darndest to get on your good side. If he didn’t care for you all that much, he’d wait to throw it in your face before you ever had the chance to humiliate him.

You didn’t know what his deal was, and to be fair he didn’t know what his was either which led to him being so hot and cold with you.

He tried just ignoring you, but when he heard you laughing and having a generally good time with the other kids, he couldn’t help himself. He was curious and eavesdropped on your conversations, wondering why he wasn’t a part of the fun.

Him needing to best you: maybe you didn’t hate each other. Perhaps at the most you strongly disliked the other. Either way he wanted to prove how much better he was.

Buggy was all over the place. He’d try insulting you, challenging you, but then if you took him up on it, he’d increase the gap between you.

He was never short of excuses as to why he couldn’t keep to his own challenges against you. When you eventually went home after realizing he wasn’t showing up yet again, he twisted it into making it seem like you chickened out.

It was hard for you to see him as an enemy because of how void of seriousness he was. He had days when he thought you were mortal enemies, followed by days he thought you were cool with him, but then right back to being wary of you.

Caesar: Hope that you are just as unhinged as he is, otherwise you were in for a rough childhood. His voice would carry through the streets, alerting the entire neighborhood that he was up to something—none of it good. 

Whenever you looked out your window or passed by his house, there would be smoke, sudden loud noises (mostly bangs and explosions), or possibly a strange faint odor that made you think twice before asking about.

Generally speaking, I imagine him having been far more reckless with experiments and even when regarding the manipulative side to his personality. Not necessarily feral but just more brash.

Being friends: you’d have to keep up with him otherwise he’d just think you were dragging him down.

Being adventurous would go a long way with him. He wouldn’t have much patience for someone being overly cautious to the point they were practically a scaredy cat. 

That being said, he’d need a friend who was the voice of reason during his more reckless moments. Sure, you got an eye roll and huff for “not being fun” but you gave a sense of balance.

You’d earn bonus points if you were just as into the macabre as he was—pushing the limits could get rather…messy, after all. You could be his assistant all you liked but being a partner in crime would be the cherry on top.

He’d never admit it, but he got scared easily. However, this was reserved for when he felt in danger.

If you were brave, he would hide behind you, putting his faith in you that you’d chase off whatever he was afraid of. If you weren’t brave, self-preservation would more than likely take over, and he’d shamelessly leave you behind—desperate to distance himself from the posing threat.

He’s competitive. He’s also a narcissist. Because of these qualities, I’d argue that being interested in science could go either in or against your favor. 

In your favor: you didn’t try to upstage him, especially if you turned out to be wrong because you’d just end up getting on his nerves in that case. Being into another field of science might make it a bit easier because he could feel like he out-shined you. Plus, it could be more fun pairing your expertise with his to create ungodly creations. If you were right about and/or better at something, you didn’t rub it in—you were humble even if he wasn’t. Otherwise his ego would take a few hits, making him pout and want to get back at you.

Against your favor: You were more clever in certain ways on top of being competitive. I think he’d enjoy some competition with a friend but only to an extent because eventually it’d turn into a rivalry. 

Everyone in the neighborhood would loathe you and forbid their children from interacting with you for a multitude of reasons: potential harm, corrupting their ‘little angels’, and you two being bad eggs to name a few.

Your parents would probably try forbidding you from hanging out with him, believing he was nothing but a bad influence on you. Although they may have had a point, that didn’t stop you.

And you are…?: you were just kinda there in a sense—not interesting enough for him to have engaged with or irritating enough to have humiliated.

Maybe there were times you tried talking to him but due to your approach, he deemed you as unworthy of his presence. 

Maybe he just didn’t like you for no reason in particular: being viewed as unspecial, one that blended too much into the crowd, and overall lackluster—not even being worthy of recognition as, well, anyone.

You kept your distance once you noticed others, whom he saw as mere pawns, had horrific “accidents”.

An enemy/competition: you rubbed him in all the wrong ways.

Whether you’d intended it or not, you wormed your way into his mind and refused to let go of the hold you had.

He had the same effect on you, making rivals of each other quickly and eventually full blown enemies.

The easiest way for you to have done this was either besting him at chemistry or generally being far too clever for your own good, making him feel shown up in one way or another.

He didn’t just want to be the best, he needed to be. Meeting someone who could beat him at his own game was infuriating and fueled his desire to tear you down. There were times when he succeeded, but there were also plenty when you were triumphant.

No matter how much you may have disliked or even hated each other, you gave the other the incentive to keep pushing and bettering yourselves like no one else had.

Thanks to your childhood rivalry and constant pushing, you both had unknowingly set the other up for success in their careers. I guess you should thank each other…not that you ever would, though.

Hi I understand if you don't reply, but I was wondering if you have any advice to beginners who want to start making their ocs a reality? (Like in the sense of having Charecters that have been in your thoughts for a while, but it's hard to encapsulate them into physical form?) As I have some that id like to make either into a game or comic but I'm a little stuck..

Hullo! Ah, (physically) designing characters, how fun ❤️ - there is part of a reason why I only have a handful of them lol XD; ANYWAY here are three things that help me, so hopefully they can help you as well :)

(I'll use Demon!Rire as an example as unless you are an old guard of mine, he will probably be the most recognisable of my characs.)

❓What do you know about them?

First of all since you already have your character in mind, congratulations you are most of the way there already! It's helpful to know the general vibe of them. And I don't mean the super detailed things that may arise from like..."Get to know your OC" quizzes - we are more looking for the core feeling of a character here. If you dumped this character into different AUs what things are going to stay the same/similar? Some things you should consider are:

What is their personality like? Why do they do the things they do?

Do I already have any physical traits for them in mind? Hair/eye/skin colour? Body type? Age? Name??

📝 Write a simple paragraph or some dot points about your character with these things in mind.

Sophisticated and charming, Rire outputs an aura of power and elegance. His pleasing physical appearance and gentlemanly demeanour usually enchants or commands people. Realistically, he is extremely manipulative and sadistic, and finds entertainment in the reactions of others.

🤔 Make informed choices

Ok cool, you know something about your charac! Now build upon what you know to make them real - it is important here to try and match your design choices with the characterisation and "why"s of the character, and less with what you personally think will be cool/cute/whatever. What I mean by this is just pretend they are a person you are describing to a forensic sketch artist - you are giving "facts" as to what you think they look like not making stuff up (eg you would NOT be like "oh yeh she was totally a punk rocker however i'm going to say she wore a long flowing gown cos I think she'd look prettier in it?"*)

*Note that designing a character with opposites in mind can work out if you can at least answer the cursory "why" of it being a part of the character design. For eg maybe the punk rocker is secretly the alter ego of a socialite - flowing gowns and high fashion by day, grunge by night. Like Batman.

📝 Feel free to use dress up doll games and image searches for particular types of clothes/hairstyles/etc if you need inspiration. Thumbnail a bunch of different designs and see what works.

In my prev example paragraph I highlighted a few things in red. Here I'll break down how they can help craft a physical appearance:

Sophisticated and charming / elegance - to me, these combined make me think of ballrooms and black tie functions and nice suits. A well tailored outfit and someone who knows how to wear them.

Gentlemanly demeanour (well to some degree lol) - since I already know he's hundreds of years old (973 to be exact) I decided that an aristocratic Victorian-esque aesthetic would suit him. Somewhere in between a modern look and something with a bit more fantasy steampunk flair. He smiles quite genially until he's doing it with all his teeth.

Aura of power - he's got to be a bit of an imposing character so he's quite tall (or at least taller than all of my other characs) and carries himself confidently. Hooray for the ability to loom. Dark colours for this character, to cut an impressive figure.

Pleasing physical appearance - kinda stereotypical type of good looks that aesthetically most people would be like "yeh he's pretty". Athletic build - muscular but not bulky, broad shoulders, tapered waist etc etc.

Extremely manipulative - first of all, he looks rather human, for a demon - his entire species is designed very particularly like that. Then there's the sunglasses. The "why" [does he wear them] is they function to hide his eyes (one of the main parts of him that give away his demon-ness), but also as a bit of a red flag to the audience that something isn't quite right with him. I mean, look past his charm and he wears them all the time. The black and yellow colour scheme also ties in as warning colours ⚠️

Put them all together and this was one of my first sketches of Demon!Rire.

*Note that I already more or less knew how he looked other than his outfit; you will probably have a lot more sketch duds as you figure out what your character looks like.

🔐 Don't lock yourself in

Despite the fact I've just said "pretend your character is a person", remember you're still their creator so obviously you have final say over them. Sometimes you'll find that they grow and change from what you initially thought of them (or you just evolve in how you draw them). Don't be afraid to make the tweaks and changes that enhance these - whether they be physical or core characteristics - and you'll get closer to the true character you always had in mind.

I now draw Rire with a more pronounced V-shape, longer, wavier hair, and somehow he ended up with way more pronounced eyelashes than I usually draw on my male characs. Which works out quite well considering how I tend to draw his eyes. Anyway the point of this is that these things developed over time as I kept drawing him.

I finished the page, which was small at 500x500 px, but I wanted to make the page bigger. I did that, and I drew one new thing, but now I don’t know what else to draw on there. So for now, I figured I might as well post the original full page right now

Anyways, so yeah, this new style practice I’m trying

The original page I tried these out on is this, which also isn’t full, but I thought trying it out with actual characters instead of just random poses and shapes would be better, so I switched over to Cookie Run characters

The method is still a work in progress when it comes to all the shapes and the red sketch layer

I suppose what I should do now is try drawing a bunch of different Cookies that have different body shapes, so that I have practice with that. As well as maybe attempt some full body ones

I suppose you can suggest some if you want, considering I don’t know who to draw other than like, Hollyberry or Avocado, since I should try drawing large but not buff characters here. But I should also probably draw more skinny, and also chubby

But on to what I actually drew

So I already talked about Peach Blossom and the top Dark Choco drawing prior, so no real need to elaborate

The Dark Choco and Dark Cacao one was me drawing them in their younger forms to see how they compare. Not for any sort of study thing, but just in a symbolic sort of way. Since they’re so similar looking

I think I had a lot more fun with Choco, especially his hair. I remember Cacao being mostly annoying for his weird cloak thing that I don’t understand

The hand pose was ass though. I knew the general idea of what I wanted, that being them with their hands over their swords, but I was struggling to figure out how to draw the hands. Not to mention I had to change the pose from the red sketch because the swords were further down than I put them. I still don’t think I did the pose exactly correct, but screw it, it’s good enough

I’m also noticing that Choco looks way lighter in skin tone compared to Cacao. Like yeah, I know he’s normally slightly lighter, but it’s far more noticeable here. I’m pretty sure it’s because I used Dark Choco’s ToA colors here (bc they work better with my black lineart), which are slightly lighter, as well as just that Dark Choco is wearing much lighter colors while Dark Cacao’s are relatively darker. So maybe it just makes them contrast more

I liked drawing them, but I also did basically do the same body type 3 in a row, so I should probably draw different characters

Anyways, let’s talk about that extra sketch

So for those who likely don’t remember, that there is an OC of mine called Prickly Pear Cookie

I made her entirely on a whim one day, and she doesn’t really have any character or story, just vibes, but I really like her design and wanted to draw it again

I probably should give her some sort of bra though. The shirtless chest looks cool but in my opinion sounds really uncomfortable without at least that

I did originally draw her with the green skin, but it looked weird so I shifted it to more of a yellow so it looks more human

Honestly I really like how she turned out

But yeah, I think that’s about it for now. Just wanted to show this
