synopsis: Hobie is still a slightly infuriating neighbor, but there’s something about that jacket and guitar that are all too familiar.

a/n: DRUNK CONFESSIONS!! Part two of this fic. I wasn’t going to write another part to it but i caved 😔

You stood him up. You fucking stood him up. Hobie spent the entire show looking out into the crowd, ignoring the blinding stage lights, to try and find you. But you were nowhere to be found. He asked so nicely too! Despite his nonchalant attitude it took him so long to build up the courage to ask you out. He had dinner reservations planned, which he has obviously never done, looked up places to get a Mr.Whippy and even found a small secluded area where he could play his guitar for you.

The worst part is how it made him feel. He genuinely liked you and it hurt him to think you didn’t feel the same when he thought you did. So what was his solution? Go out with his mates to a pub until 3 am to drink his feelings. Hobie was a bold drunk, bolder than he usually is. He’s also a sloppy drunk, tripping when he walks and slurring his speech like it’s all one word.

You’re peacefully sleeping in your bed with your spiderman eye mask cuddling with your Spider-Punk plushie. It’s not a random occurrence to hear Hobie stomping his boots late at night but it was different today. You heard his boot buckles dragging across the floor and a loud bang against your door. Not necessarily a knock, more of a body slumped against the wood.

“Love! You in there?!” You hear him yell.

You try your hardest to ignore him but as he keeps yelling and pounding against the wood you start to feel sorry for everyone else on your floor. You force yourself out of bed and towards the front door. As you reluctantly open it a drunken Hobie falls into your flat.

“Hobie get your arse up,” you roll your very tired eyes.

He surprisingly agrees and makes his way to your bed.

Great, you think

He tosses his guitar to your couch and gets into your bed like it’s his. Conveniently throwing the spider-punk plush off the bed. He cuddles up with your blanket and closes his eyes. You cannot let him fall asleep.

“Hobie! Hello? That is my bed. Get out!” You yell at him.

“Why’d you do it?” He whispers.

“What,” you ask, still annoyed.

“You stood me up. I asked you to come to my show and you didn’t. Why,” he asked less of a question and more of a statement.

You sigh, of course you knew that was tonight. In all honesty you don’t quite know why you didn’t go. You weren’t doing anything special and it probably would’ve been nice. But you were scared. Scared of what? You also didn’t know that, you just were.

“I… I don’t know,” you admit.

“Really hurt me, Love. I wanted to see you and take you out on a nice date,” he looked away from you.

Your heart shattered. You knew Hobie liked you but not to that extent. You thought he was just playing around with you and didn’t mean anything by it.

“I’m really sorry, Hobie. We should go out some other time, okay? My treat,” you promise.

“Nah, don’t think i’ll have the time,” He says, clearly less sad than he was a few moments ago.

“Oh yeah? Busy with what? Trying to tear down the government from the inside?” You laugh.

“Of course not, that’s for the first saturday of every month. I’ll be busy being Spiderman,” he says, cuddling closer to your blanket.

You stop immediately. Your mind goes blank, the world around you stops. You’re suddenly much more awake than you have ever been. Hobie is… no you can’t even say it. The man you’ve hated ever since you had moved in was the person you loved more than anything else? That can’t be right, he’s having a laugh. That’s gotta be it.

“I don’t believe in comedy,” you remember him saying.

Fuck. He’s not joking, is he?

“What?” you manage to get out.

“I’ll be busy, being spiderman and all. Yknow who that is right? Don’t know if you noticed but he’s- i mean I’m kinda all over your room,” he lets out a drunk giggle.

He pulls out his mask from the pocket of his jacket and handed it to you.

“See?”

You grab it in disbelief. You run your hand over the spandex in awe. Spiderman is right in front of you, you realize.

Oh. My. God. SPIDERMAN IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.

You just can’t believe the man you’ve idolized for years was in your bed. YOUR BED.

Hobie takes the blanket off of him, lifting up his shirt to reveal his suit. Blue and fucking red material.

“I don’t believe in the labels though. It’s stupid,” He says in the most Hobie way possible.

“You’re a superhero,” you say, still a little shocked.

“No. No, don't say that. I'm not a hero, because calling yourself a hero makes you a self-mythologising, narcissistic autocrat,” He says. God even drunk he’s still a smart ass.

“So you still wanna go out?” He asks.

“What? I just found out you’re fucking Spiderman and that’s what you’re asking me? If I want to go out with you?” You respond.

“I mean what else is there to say? I already know you love me,” he nods to the spiderman memorabilia.

Even in this state he still leaves you speechless.

“Well- yeah I guess. We can go out,” you say slowly.

“Cool,” he nods.

He lifts up the blanket and scoots over, inviting you into your bed with him. You roll your eyes and get in with him. He wraps his arms around you and smiles.

“I knew you wanted to snog me from the start,” he laughs.

Hobie is still pretty infuriating, but that is slowly becoming one of your favorite things about him.

When Hobie volunteered for F.E.A.S.T he never thought he'd be freezing his balls off in the middle of a busy intersection. The Santa coat he's wearing doesn't help much with the biting cold, good thing they let him wear his leather jacket underneath the red fluffy coat.

To his dismay, the red bucket to his side has stayed half empty since his shift.

The only consolation to the cold is you. Like clockwork, you come sauntering out of the busy crowd during the rush hour, your smile a beacon of warmth from the chill. You don't know him nor he knows you, but you always come to him with a greeting, always bearing gifts of hot cocoa, soup or a pastry to warm his senses. It's not just the treats you give him but also the welcome conversation. It started off with a polite ‘hello’ and ‘thank you for doing this’ and then you exchanged names, before he knew it, you two were chatting away like old friends. Now you're not strangers anymore, there's a blooming friendship that could be more if you two manage to thaw out the cold awkwardness of conversing in a public space.

The snow nips at his fingertips as he strums the familiar Christmas tune for the umpteenth time on his well loved guitar since he volunteered last week. Hobie kept repeating to himself throughout the jingle ‘for the kids, I'm doin’ this for the kids’ he huffs, puffs of clouds escaping as a wave of pedestrians passes him by without donating.

As if you've sensed his emotions, you come walking out from the subway, your fluffy red coat almost matching Hobie's, and a stark contrast to the rushing crowd's greys and white. The people seem to part just for you, like the sea making way for you to cross. Or maybe that's what he's seeing as your straight face turns into a grin as you spot him in his usual place.

“Hi, Hobie” you're suddenly right in front of him, Hobie suddenly feels warmer. Peeking down at his bucket of donations, you wince. “Not a good day?”

He shakes himself awake. “Better now that you're here”

“Where in the world do you get your charm in this weather?” you feel warm, your hands are suddenly sweaty under your gloves.

“It just comes naturally.” He shrugs, his smirk turning you into mashed potato. “Nice jacket”

You laugh, a better sound than the loud honking of traffic he's been attacked with throughout his shift.

“Yeah, well it's almost Christmas so I gotta stay festive, you know” you lift your arms to the side a little bit awkwardly. After mentally facepalming yourself, you take your wallet out to take a crisp bill to put in the donation bucket.

“Thank you, F.E.A.S.T appreciates your donation” Hobie does his practice script, but for you there's more heart put into it.

“Also, I wanted to dress up like my new favourite person” you say a little quieter, bouncing on the balls of your feet nervously.

“Santa’s your favourite bloke?” Hobie looks like he's questioning your taste.

You blink before you let out the most glorious sound he's heard all day. “Yeah, Santa’s my favourite guy” you say sarcastically, “I mean just look at him and his magnificent white beard” laughing, Hobie’s eyes widened.

You're flirting with him, shit, he thought, wanting to punch himself for his stupid reply. Composing himself with a clear of his throat, hiding it behind a chuckle, Hobie puts his charisma to work.

“Well, Your new favourite bloke has a present for you”

“What is it?” Your face hurts from smiling too much, yet it doesn't waver.

“As our biggest benefactor, you get to spend a day with Santa himself at Feast” Maybe that wasn't his best work, but can you blame him when you're looking at him like a child during Christmas morning? He puts all the blame on the cold for making his brain all foggy.

“Only if you want to that is” Hobie tries to save himself the embarrassment.

His awkward way of asking you out made you all the more fancy him, you're a goner. “I would love to, Hobie” you're sweating under all your layers.

He feels like his chest was caving in and your answer was the only thing that could hold it up. Hobie beams, a little too excited to exchange numbers with you.

In truth, you know there isn't some prize for the biggest donation, you weren't even close to the largest benefactor. Maybe that'll be a nice ice breaker for you when you finally go on a date with Santa.

The significance music holds to Hobie is something that he doesn't really expect people to understand. In fact, he thinks music is something a lot of people tend to under appreciate. To Hobie, music can be life changing. The mix of beautiful tunes and heartfelt lyrics can convey and provoke emotions that many people couldn't even describe. And that, to Hobie, holds a special place in his heart.

Music is a part of Hobie's everyday life. It's embedded in the way he fights. It's constantly ringing a tune in his head. Hell, even the lyrics to songs sometimes show up on the cutouts behind him. So naturally, it's important to him in his relationship. It's a love language. If words fail him, he can rely on a sweet sound from his guitar to convey his feelings to you. It's important that you know the importance of music from him, and understand why he thinks so deeply of it. Hobie loves the way a song can speak volumes, and when he writes something of his own, his fondest memories and relationships go into it. Every song about you is so deeply thought out, even if it's accompanied with a more punk-rock sound. It's the way he shows his love and adoration for you, unconventionally.

Hobie believes that everyone should be able to express themselves. The ability to put one's imagination into their hobby is something Hobie values highly. For him, his outlets are advocacy and music. Hobie has a lot to say, and he wants people to hear what he has to say. Being able to put out his music for people who enjoy it is the perfect way for him to say everything he needs to where people will listen. And advocacy? He makes the important people listen.

In his relationship, he's one of the most supportive people anyone could possibly meet. He encourages you to continue pursuing your passion, supporting you every step of the way. Haven't found that passion? He'll help you find it. Hobie wants you to be able to express yourself in a way that isn't unhealthy, and a hobby is the way to go for that. Creative freedom isn't something anyone should lack, and Hobie will make sure that neither of you ever do lack it.

One thing Hobie will never understand is how a group of people could ever think that others different from them shouldn't deserve to live. Advocating not only for himself, but for the lost voices in society, is so incredibly important to him. It inspires the way he lives day to day, how he interacts with the world. Everyone deserves to live freely, not hated and dragged down just because of the way they look or think or love. He organizes protests, speaks out against corrupt government nature, and uses his Spider-man status to fight for what is truly right, even if it puts a target on his back.

When it comes down to his relationship, advocacy plays a big part in it. You and him work together to fight for what's right, and that means the world to him. Even if you can't do most of what he can (because he is, in fact, Spider-man), it still makes the world of a difference when you do what you can. Hobie knows that this sort of fight, this fight against a government that doesn't want him around, is one of the most difficult he will ever face. So having someone there by his side? Fighting with him? Cheering him on? Means a lot more than words can describe.

Communication is something Hobie has always sought out in his life. The idea that a relationship he worked so hard to build on could crumble from a simple misunderstanding is scary to him. He'll never let people misunderstand him. Not his messages in his music. Not his message when protesting. Not his message when crime fighting. None of it. It's what makes Hobie such an honest and open guy to his friends, family, and even the strangers he fights so often for.

Communication is the main concern Hobie has in a relationship. Like mentioned, he can't have it thrown away over something so trivial. The two of you are always open and honest with each other, even if it may come off as rude or hurtful. But that's what makes your relationship so strong and trusting. What may seem too open to others works perfectly for the two of you. And if there ever was a time where a miscommunication does happen, Hobie will always, always, be the first to set things right.

From a young age, Hobie knew he couldn't rely on others to keep the city safe. It felt like no one was ever safe. Hence why he was quick to assume his Spider-man role when the opportunity came to him. It was hard at first, adjusting to constantly saving others from rotten criminals. But over time, it started becoming a piece of cake. At least until the bigger government problems presented itself. But fighting to keep the streets safe is something Hobie loves doing. It feels like he's doing his part for the people, even if that was something pushed onto him.

You, as his partner, are the one constantly pushing him to keep going and reminding him what he stands for. Said job as a city hero isn't easy, even for Hobie Brown. There was even a time when he tried to quit. Give it all up, because he was just so damn tired. But you didn't let him. It took a lot to remind Hobie that he's also doing this for himself. To remind him that he's doing so much and that you were so proud of everything he stands for. It was enough to get him back on his feet, keep him going when it comes to being the people's hero. Hobie never forgets your encouraging words, they always keep him going.

Hobie values all the relationships he makes; platonic and romantic. He was lonely for a small time in his life, and it hurt him in ways he'll never forget. So his relationship with his partner will always be a priority. He'll never just jump into a relationship, he has to make sure this is someone he can see himself loving, committing to, forever holding close to him. But he'll never choose to love someone because of their looks, gender, sexuality, anything. The only preference he truly has is when it comes to personality and political beliefs (being an anarchist, he just can't see himself being with someone who isn't). Regardless, Hobie's partner will always have a feeling of love buzzing within them, solely because of how loving and loyal he truly is.

When it comes to you. Hobie is so incredibly in love. He takes no shit about it, and will defend you whenever he needs to. He's also somewhat over-protective, despite being very secure in the relationship. It's a comfort thing, is what he says when you ask. Hobie isn't afraid to show his love to you, though he does it more in private. He doesn't care what others think of him, but he also very much doesn't want you in such a harsh limelight (being how hated he is by the government). He only ever wants what is best for you, and will do a lot to make sure you have everything you deserve and more.

How do you think the spider gang would react to Gwen coming out as trans? I think they'd all be supportive, but I'm curious if you have details

I am going to be honest with you anon, I had been looking at this question for weeks, thinking about it, and...I am not coming up with much.

I am trans, I don't have that much experience with people reacting to that- and I am not making any more comments about that.

Going back to the original question- I think all of them would be supportive; regardless of background or history, I feel doing anything else would be a disservice to the characters, and also, a type of story I really don't have interest entertaining, (Would Noir, being from 40s, be reasonable to have his apprehensions and need to overcome it? Yes, I am interested in seeing something like that? Personally, fuck no.)

Now, it doesn't mean there cannot be hiccups- all well intending, of course.

Peter B I see going over the top; talking how brave Gwen is, and that he supports her no matter what, he also reads a book on trans people and tell hims about the people in his universe who are trans. Gwen appreciates it, but it can be uncomfortable at times.

Noir, regardless of time period, would be supportive, but mixes up terminology. The poor guy already struggles with the pop culture lingo, so throwing queer lingo into the mix can make things awkward; specially since, as a spider-man, he has defended the marginalized people of his dimension and is aware of the community, but- that community had its own terminology that may not be appreciated to day. Is a growing curve.

In my opinion, Ham is a much of a man as Bugs Bunny, meaning gender isn't as important as commitment to the bit; so I can see him busting a dress all of the sudden and saying "I get you sis." Accordingly, if asked about his own gender, he is pretty much "normally a guy, but in general whatever fits better with the scene."

Peni I headcanon as nonbinary, so I think she would be happy to meet another person who isn't cis. Definitely would have lots of talk about presentation, tricks for clothes a make up, the works.

Margo is cool about it, there isn't much to say there; she just tells Gwen that it doesn't change anything between them, and she is still invited to come for the slumber parties (Margo has thrown a bunch in the Spider-Society, because anything to spend as little time mentally at home as possible.)

Pavitr: "Oh so you are like a hijra? That's so cool!" (This is a term from a place I am not from, so I can't talk in length about it, feel free to look it up because it is indeed, very cool.) While not the same, he ends up telling more about how people in his dimension see transgender people, Gwen finds it overall really interesting.

Hobie is, of course, cool about it. He is a punk, noncomformist, and "hates labels," he could probably tell Gwen a stupid amount of things about queer history, intersectionally, so far and so forth. Despite using he/him pronouns, I believe with all my heart Hobie would not give a shit about gender roles and dress how he likes, and be okay with any pronouns. This has nothing to do with your question, but I headcanon that Hobie has been the queer awakening of many other teens of the Spider-Society as he strolls down in whatever outfit he feels like it.

Now Miles, is obviously supportive. I think he may be oblivious to many things (I headcanon him as bi for a long awhile, but I am not sure if that's something he knows already or has yet to discover,) so he asks questions, but is always respectful and has no trouble answering. Overall, Gwen thinks is cute how much Miles dotes on her, and reminding her that she will always be the prettiest girl alive to him.

Aw dude, thanks for asking me something actually interesting, I'm more than just the world's best looking kidnap victim.

I still do photography, I mainly focus on bands and venues now. I get to go to a lot of shows for free because my shots get used for promotional shit like flyers and album art, which is pretty neat. The cash doesn't hurt either lol. I totally consider photography to be an art form if it's done right, but it's pretty easy to tell the difference between someone who cares about the craft vs some rich yuppie who thinks they can buy talent with some expensive camera.

My favourite song right now is private eye by alkaline trio, I always find myself listening to them in the winter months for some reason. I actually splashed out and got myself a cd walkman not long ago. It's pretty bulky, so I think I prefer my cassette player in that regard, but it's still good. The audio is a lot more crisp on it, which is a plus when you live in a noisy city. I think punk music has to be my favourite genre, I'm big on the damned, dead kennedys and the clash, but there's a special place in my heart for pitbull daycare, even though that's not really punk. I used to listen to them in high school because it pissed my dad off lmao. Good times.

I'm neutral about rocks. I think the most I've ever thought about them was when I was a kid, I used to huck rocks at trains with my buddy Scott. Not sure why we did that, but it kept us entertained.

I've actually got a newfound appreciation for bugs. The use to freak me out kinda, but when I was trapped in that bathroom there was this spider that had a Web on the pipe I was attached to. I was down there for a few days, and I actually caught myself chatting to the spider just to pass the time. I definitely lost my marbles down there, but it was nice to know I wasn't completely alone.

I googled that rubber duck isopod, and he's a funny looking little guy. I think that's one of the nicer animals I've been compared to in my life, my dad always said I reminded him of a horse- well, part of a horse anyway lmao.

Ants are cool, as long as they don't gather in my apartment. Had an ant infestation one time and it took my asshole landlord like three months to actually do anything about it.

SPIDER-PUNK my boy. i have loved him since before this movie because i think he is very cool!! he has a limited comic run that i enjoyed very much. and he's so good in across the spiderverse!! his character is so fun and i feel like it's true to his comic counterpart. hobie brown i love you <3

i hold a special place in my heart for all spider people truly. but i think this movie does a great job with peter b. parker and miles, who i love very very much. i think peter b is great because i just love the jake johnson energy that he brings.

and miles is always great!! i think miles is such a great character to carry a spider-man story through. he is so true to the spider-man story, and this movie is still part of his origin story—he is learning and growing, which is always an important part of spider-man. i also think the other miles stories are great, like miles comics and even the ps5 video game. he's definitely up there for one of my all-time favorite spider-men, but hobie has a certain energy that puts him first.

Hello internet!

This is Chase (endlesstwanted), and I thought I should start this blog with an introduction. I haven’t kept a blog in over a decade, so please bear with me while I figure out how all of this works. The essential info about me will be above the cut, because I’m an oversharer and I don’t know how long this will enventually be.

As I said, my name is Chase, I’m over 21 years old and currently studying a vocational course which I have no vocation for. I’m in the CET time zone, based in Spain, and I like to think I’m bilingual even if my brain can’t keep up with Spanish half of the time (most of the content here will be in English). I am a non-binary trans, which influences how I view things and a friend said it would be good to mention. I’m also bisexual, which is a great excuse to be multishipper too. My sun sign is taurus, and my moon and rising signs are virgo.

My main interests are writing, languages and travelling (been all over Spain). I enjoy puzzles, funko pops, cinema, series and music. I’m not active in fandoms outside of Marvel, even though I like a lot of other media. For starters, I plan to use this blog for bingo stuff and to share what I write and post on Ao3.

Moving now onto the fandom talk, I entered the fandom world at eight years old with pop music. I then moved to tv shows when I watched Broadchurch and discovered Teen Wolf, to later follow punk rock bands and being introduced to concerts. I began being interested in cinema at the age of eighteen and eventually found Marvel a few years back.

I’m familiar with the MCU and X-Men films, and am slowly trying to find my way into the comics. I’m a multi-shipper (the rarest the pairs, the more interests I will get) and willing to read and write anyone I’m comfortable with.

That’s said, my favourite characters would have to be Bruce, Sam, Natasha, Clint and Bucky. I am fixated on others like Scott Summers, Sprite, the Peters (Maximoff, Parker, Quill, you name it), the Grandmaster, Justin Hammer and Remy Lebau (I’m into those who have no more than five scenes, as you see). My favourite projects (that I’ve watched so far) are The Amazing Spider-Man films, The Incredible Hulk, Wakanda Forever, Infinity War, Black Widow, Eternals, X-men Apocalypse and the Hawkeye series.

As I said I plan to keep this blog to share my writing and Bingo-related information. In case things go out of hand, please remember that my previous experience has been ten years on twitter, I feel in need of mentioning the other media I am fan of. This is a warning in case one day I wake up willing to fill my page with that, which you know, can happen.

I like a variety of cinema genres, going from thriller to comedy, even though I enjoy dramas the most and I’m a huge fan of Spanish cinema as well. The films I need to mention now are the ones that really got me into this world and hold a special place in my heart : the Scream saga, The Faculty, Deux Moi (French drama from 2019), Clue (1985), Marrowbone, Coherence, The Broken Circle breakdown, The Birds, and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Talking about series now, everything has been non-stop since discovering Teen Wolf until now, with a few years gap I used to go to concerts and consume the MCU an embarrassing amount of times. The ones that have shaped me as a person are The Night Shift, Leverage, The Society, Sneaky Pete, Stitchers, On My Block, Code Black, Hunters and New Amsterdam. I’m currently watching the Chicago-verse series after watching a bunch of episodes on tv with no idea of what was going on because they played eight a night, I’ve just started Chicago Med.

As far as music goes, I thought to mention the people that have literally raised and/or been an inspiration for me at some point: 5sos, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and Chase Atlantic. 

The list goes on and on but you don’t want me to bore you with the Spanish’s pop artists, music contests, and all the things I said I’ve recovered from and I haven’t.

3) Favorite superhero film?

I’m picking top 3 here. I think my favorite is probably into the spider-verse. It’s so well animated, stylistically interesting, and I adore miles morales. I’d been so nervous about this movie, and I had been keeping track of everything since the moment it was announced, but I was terrified the whole time since Sony pictures animation doesn’t have a great track record. The teaser trailer gave me hope, though. I don’t go to the movies that often, but I went to watch it the day it dropped and it honestly exceeded my expectations.

The second film is Venom. The first venom film, the sequel is fun, but there was something so insane about the way the first one came out that it just has a special place in my heart. I love the venom comics, and I was still thoroughly obsessing over Mike Costa’s venom run when this movie was coming out, but I’m gonna be honest, when I saw the trailer I completely disregarded it. It looked over the top edgy in a 90s comic kinda way. I almost never disregard a movie by trailer alone, but they made the movie look like another BvS or Suicide Squad (2016) (derogatory). I genuinely thought it would be like how Morbius turned out. I was so surprised when the reviews dropped and they all said pretty much the same thing— this movie sucks, but it’s sure as fuck fun to watch. I though, hey! That’s my favorite type of movie!! So I gave it a chance, and they were so right. I saw this movie 5 times while it was still in theaters (mostly pirating, but still).

The last movie is The Batman (2022). I actually had a lot of hope for this movie going in, considering how Matt Reeves studied under Jeph Loeb and cited The Long Halloween as a major influence, but I was still a little wary. I really hate the dark knight returns (and frank miller in general), and most Batman movies are to some extent an adaptation of this work. Which sucks. I was really pleasantly surprised by the hopeful turn the movie took, how it denounced miller’s Batman through the use of the Riddler as a parallel. Plus, the cast were all excellent and the visuals were beautiful. I’m looking forward to the sequel and hoping they include robin!

6) Favorite Side Character

I really miss Roxy Leech from Superboy’s solo run. All of kon’s supporting cast disappeared after his solo ended and it sucks. She was like a sister figure to him and she’d bring a lot to comics now. I also love Bernard Dowd. He left such an impression in the few issues he appears in, and now he’s back as Tim’s Boyfriend!! That’s huge! He hasn’t had a chance to shine yet recently, I hope he’s still an absolute bitch. I also miss prudence wood, from Tim’s Red Robin run. She had so much potential, bring her back dc!

(A few months ago I’d have probably had spider-punk on this list, but he’s got a solo now!! Not a side character anymore lol)

8) Favorite team up

Young Justice!!!! YJ 1998 my beloved! What a team! I don’t really care for the animated series, it’s totally unrelated to the comics and I can’t get behind their adaptation of kon. He’s so bland and whiny. YJ 1998 is so funny, the characters are so bizarre and they’re all completely unhinged about each other. Love those guys

13) A villain who genuinely scared you

I don’t know that any particular villain has ever like, really scared me? But I do find something viscerally horrifying about like, all of Al Ewing’s immortal hulk. It’s such a good run. It tackles a lot of heavy themes well. (Shame the artist turned out to be a shitbag, but I refuse to let that ruin the story for me. He didn’t write it, after all.)

I guess I could say the joker here, not because the character himself particularly scares me, but because of what he’s come to mean to incels and those types. It’s dangerous when a character can become a symbol for such hateful groups to rally under.

- Steve leaving little sticky notes with doodles drawn on them is probably Bucky's favourite thing about his husband being an artist.

- Don't get him wrong. Bucky LOVES it when Steve wants to go all Jack Dawson on him and asks Bucky to pose for his sketches and paintings on the warm 1940s-style retro couch in their living room. There's always an unexplainable sensuality, overflowing sensations,pure beauty in those sheer erotic moments. Bucky takes immense honor in laying bare, so openly vulnerable, only for Steve to see and capture on the canvas with his talented artistic hands.

- Bucky loves it when Steve sketches down random beautiful scenary stuck in his mind after the morning run. He loves it when Steve seats on the empty benches at places and draws just random strangers walking past, kids playing in the park, the bustling at the Subway stations. Bucky loves getting to see the world through Steve's gorgeous, creative mind.

- But nothing in the world makes Bucky's heart flutter like those cute-little-doodles on the sticky notes Steve loves to write so much.

- Something about them is so special and so heart-warming. There are doodles of the coffee cup and pancakes on their bed-side table whenever Steve makes breakfast for him.

Doodles of the intimidating shield director with fluffy ribbons and cotton candy instead of the eye-patch, just to make Bucky smile and giggle.

- Doodles of their Avenger buddies. Tony with his head too big to fit in the helmet, Nat with her tango-dances and super-cool knives, Loki putting gum in Thor's hair while thor is too busy wolfing down the pop-tarts, Sam giving music recommendations to the birdies on roof, Wanda rolling her eyes while Vision puts an apron on in the kitchen, the spider child hanging upside down from the ceiling and yelling some new age slangs that Steve won't be able to use properly no matter how much he tries.

- Sweet notes with hearts and kissing doodles on their bathroom mirror because Bucky loves having things to read in the bath.

- Doodles of Bucky being a couch-potato with soap operas on the tv wearing sweatshirts that are one size too big for him.

- Doodles of hugs and blankets and promises of coming back soon for whenever Steve is on a mission away from him.

- Bucky treasures and keeps every one of those cartoonish scribblings from Steve. Some have found their place on the refrigerator door and all the others in a box stored safely in his closet.

- Those doodles give Bucky a sense of stability, they ground him. Just like Steve does. Those sweet little drawings are another proof of the fact that Steve is still that same Brooklyn-punk at his heart. Adorable and funny and stupidly cute and feisty at times. The one who still likes to flung himself in Bucky's arms whenever he's had a bad day. Low moans and whinings, whispers only meant for Bucky to hear. The same punk who gives him cheeky smiles and then acts all innocent.

- The doodles convince and keep reminding Bucky that they can have this. They do have it right now. The domesticity, the normalcy of a simple civilian life. Just practicing the habits of an old mrried couple. Something both of them craved to have openly since the 1940s. That even though their life has this fighting-aliens, saving the world, butt-kicking bad guys and risking their lives factor... At the end they are just two guys. Two simple guys. Who are in Love. Have always been in love. For almost a century now.

- Bucky loves lightly smacking Steve's head and calling him a sappy idiot for leaving messages like that all around the house. Bucky loves goofily smiling at those doodles when he thinks Steve is not looking. He tucks them in his jean's pockets, carries some of them in his wallet all the time. A gentle reminder that he has a home to go back to now. With Steve. Finally. After all of their struggles. They now get to live the biggest dream of their lives. They got the happily ever after.

- Steve is acutely aware of how much Bucky loves those doodles. He makes a habit of drawing them even more frequently. Steve loves watching from the corner of his eyes when Bucky is staring at his art and has a rosy pink blush. The most beautiful smile adorns his husband's face at those times.

- And being the reason behind that smile is Steve's biggest achievement as an artist to himself. It is his favourite thing about being able to draw.

The sober comfort, all the peace which springs from the large aggregate of little things.

All I Ask Of You

Pairing: Tendou Satori  x f!reader x Oikawa Tooru Warnings:  Implied NSFW at the end Rating: PG-13  Summary:  Tendou was in love with his best friend who was the lead in Phantom of The Opera. However, he was the stage manager watching as she falls in love with her castmate both on the stage and in real life. 

The orchestra was preparing to play the second to last song in the first act of The Phantom of The Opera. Tendou could feel his heart clench as he turned his headset off. Thankfully most of the cast was in the green room preparing for the next act with the exception of Atsumu who was heading up to his place in the form where he would sing the reprise and crash the exquisite chandelier on the stage ending the first act. 

The leads entered the stage. Oikawa gently held the hand of Christine who was played by Tendou’s best friend Y/N. Tendou wrapped his gangly arms around his clipboard as the leads began to talk to each other. Having just narrowly escaped a tantrum from the Phantom, Raoul and Christine had escaped to the roof of the opera house. Gently the fake snow started to fall around them and the spotlight illuminated their faces. From the first wing, Tendou watched as Oikawa gently lifted the hood of Y/N’s cloak off of her head letting her silky H/C curls fall against her shoulders framing her face oh so elegantly. 

“What you heard, was a dream and nothing more,” Oikawa said holding Y/N’s nimble hands in his own. In the wings, Tendou whispered every one of Oikawa’s lines to himself pretending it was himself holding the hands of Y/N. 

Y/N was the reason that Tendou had joined the theater. In their childhood, Y/N’s mother had taken the two of them to see! Tendou hadn’t really wanted to go but when Y/N’s beautiful E/C widened in happiness at her mother’s announcement there was zero chance of him telling her no. It was on this day that Tendou first realized that his friend was more special than before. 

His appearance drove people away. Almost everything physical about Tendou was off-putting to people. His hair was unnaturally red. His eyes seemed to follow whoever dared look in them for too long. People called his body almost monstrous but not because of its size. Sure Tendou had height, but the term referred to how gangly his arms and legs were. The kids at school steered away from him out of fear that he would try to use his guessing ability to get ahead in life. 

Only Y/N had shown him any sign of respect up until he met Ushijima but that was a different story.  

The string section of the orchestra had shifted to open up the music for “All I Ask Of You.” The song where Raoul and Christine would profess their undying love for each other. Every night for the last six weeks, Tendou had watched the love of his life speak meaning behind the words he wished he could tell her. Tendou’s breath hitched as Oikawa gingerly touched Y/N’s cheek. Even with the heat of her cloak and the spotlights, Tendou could see the tinged cheeks of his crush knowing it was not entirely from the environment around her. It was partly due to the man in front of her. 

“Yet in his eyes all the sadness of the world. Those pleading eyes that both threaten and adore.” 

Y/N’s ethereal voice rang out through the theater causing several tears to shed. Including a couple from Tendou. 

“Christine, Christine...” Oikawa pulled the girl close to his chest as Atsumu sings his echoing line prompting Oikawa and Y/N to look around in fear of the Phantom. 

And finally.

Finally. 

The worst part of the night begins. 

Oikawa takes Y/N’s hands and begins to sing softly. Tendou in the wings catches Y/N’s eye as he mouths every word of the song that Y/N had begged him to practice. 

“Who knows Satori? You could replace Oikawa!” She had said giving his arm a slight push as they ate their post-rehearsal dinner at his house. Tendou had laughed and played along in the lie but seeing it on the stage reminded him of how wrong he was to not tell her the truth at that moment. 

“No more talk of darkness. Forget these wide-eyed fears. I’m here. Nothing can harm you. My words will warm and calm you.” 

Tendou’s heart frantically increased its pace as he reminded himself of how Y/N trusted him with everything. Back in their third year of high school when Y/N’s ex had broken up with her, Tendou had created an entire pillow kingdom for her to spend the weekend in while he cheered him up. Their own perfect world where no one could get to them. But Y/N had been on her phone while he feigned sleep, silently giggling at something that illuminated the angelic features of her face. Tendou had never been one to have more than a few text messages (which were only ever from you, his parents, or the volleyball team group chat) and found himself not as attached to his phone as she was. But he couldn’t resist the smidge of jealousy that wormed its way into his heart everything you opened a snap from whoever had been making you laugh. 

“Let me be your freedom. Let daylight dry your tears. I’m here with you beside you. To guard you and to guide you.” 

He remembered when he’d found out she was transferring from Seijoh to Shiratorizawa back when they were still in high school`. Y/N hadn’t passed the entrance exams the first time around (not that she was in anyway dumb.) but had worked her butt off to retake them at the start of their second year. She had passed with flying colors and Tendou had immediately volunteered to show her around the school even though he knew that she knew every inch of Shiratorizawa grounds due to all the impromptu volleyball lessons she had attended at Tendou’s request. 

All traces of oxygen escaped Tendou when Y/N opened her mouth to sing back to Oikawa whom Tendou knew had the biggest eyes for at the moment. 

“Say you love me every waking moment. Turn my head with talk of summertime....” 

Winter, summer, spring, or fall. Tendou had fond memories of each season he spent with Y/N. In the winter the two of them would travel to Tokyo for New Years’ and pray at the shrine for a good new year. In the summertime, Tendou would bring watermelon over to her house and they would read old Shonen Jump editions with the lights and fans on while participating in self-care rituals. He has so many photos of the two of them singing entire musical tracks in facemasks and pajamas while he has his hair in 12 braids and hers held up with 3 headbands and every barrette he could find in her room. In the spring you would visit the cherry blossom festival and he would flood her Instagram with every photo they took. In the fall they would spend their time tramping around Miyagi enjoying the leaves and an American drink from Starbucks (he’d never admitted it but he was now addicted to Pumpkin Spice) 

“Say you need me with you now and always. Promise me that all you say is true. That’s all I ask of you.” 

What a simple ask in the song but it was what needed to be asked. Both by the character Christine and himself. However, he knew that she felt nothing towards him that passed the barriers of friendship. It pierced his heart when he found out that Oikawa and Y/N had announced they had been seeing each other several years ago.  

That year Tendou had spent Valentine’s Day alone for the first time in 11 years. 

Soon after this announcement, Tendou began to see Y/N less and less as she now had two very important boys to balance in her life. 

Behind the stage, there was the green room which housed the rest of the cast. Somewhere getting a head start on their costume change for the start of the second act, some were grabbing a quick bite with an overshirt protecting their costumes. However, there was a fairly large group that had their eyes glued to the TV that broadcast the show inside the green room to help them figure out when to make their next appearance. 

“Dude he’s not gonna do it,” Kageyama whispered to Hinata who was in the middle of buttoning up his shirt for the second act. 

“Have some faith is something! They’ve been together for years!” Hinata snapped that earned him a loud “SHUSH” from the rest of the cast. Sugawara who was finishing up on Kiyoko’s make-up for Carlotta sent a sharp glare to the orange-haired boy. 

“You two need to simmer down. The audience can hear you. And yes, he probably will he’s just waiting for the right moment in the song.” Suga explained as he steadied Kiyoko’s face to draw the eyeliner on her eyes.

“Yeah shut up punks! We wanna watch it happen!” Yamamoto called from his 

A fair amount of the cast stood around the flat screen that showed Oikawa and Y/N singing to each other waiting for the surprise that neither Y/N nor Tendou was ready for. 

 “Let me be your shelter. Let me be your light. You’re safe, no one will find you. Your fears are far behind you.” 

Y/N had many fears that she had shared with Tendou over the years of their life together. Trivial ones like spiders, snakes, and things that go bump in the night but Tendou knew that her deepest fear was never finding true love which had only blossomed after her ex had broken up with her. 

“All I want is freedom. A world with no more night. And you always beside me. To hold me and to hide me.” 

What happened next sent Tendou’s heart hurtling towards a brick wall covered in spikes dripping in acid. His eyes bugged out of his head as he watched Oikawa get on one knee holding out a small velvet box. Wait where did he get that from? Tendou checked his clipboard hurriedly. There wasn’t a ring box on the props list... 

No...

“Then say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime. Let me lead you from your solitude. Say you need me with you, here beside you. Anywhere you go let me go to. Christine. That’s all I ask of you.” 

Y/N’s face burst out in the largest smile Tendou had ever seen as his heart crumbled away, physical pain coursing through his veins. He couldn’t breathe. Everything was cold and his arms were numb. This had to be a dream! Y/N wouldn’t do this! She wouldn’t because she loved him right? 

Right? 

“Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime. Say the word and I will follow you.” Her exquisitely happy voice broke through the barrier of silence that had surrounded the theater save for the orchestra. No, she couldn’t do this. 

“Share each day with me each night, each morning.” They both sang as Oikawa stood up and placed the ring on Y/N’s perfectly crafted finger. A place that should remain bare. A place for his ring for her. 

“Say you love me...” Y/N whispered bringing her hand to Oikawa’s face with the happiest of smiles. 

“You know I do...” Oikawa sang softly taking Y/N’s hand pressing it to his cheek. Subconsciously, Tendou reached for Y/N’s hand needing it to calm the ache in his heart that was beginning to constrict. Tendou collapsed on the ground cupping his hand against his mouth to stifle the dry sobs that had started. He needed to get out of there before someone in the audience heard him. 

“Love me! That’s all I ask of you!” 

Tendou hadn’t cared before when they kissed since it was written in the script. But tonight this kiss sealed the end for Tendou. 

He had lost Y/N before he had even had a chance with her. 

Whoops, and hollers from the audience were nothing compared to the cheers in the green room. Oikawa had been planning this proposal for months, had bought the ring the day Y/N had said yes to dating him. Everyone had placed bets on when and how he would propose but this proposal really knocked it out of the park. 

The kiss went on longer than normal since this was a special night. When the music started up again, Tendou could see the tears falling from Y/N’s beautiful e/c eyes. The tears matched his own as his lip quivered slightly. 

“Anywhere you go, let me go too. Love me, that’s all I ask of you...” 

The crowd began their applause as Y/N began her reverie as Christine. 

“I must go they’ll wonder where I am! Raoul wait for me!” Y/N exclaimed. Oikawa lets her hands go with a kiss on her dainty wrist. 

“Christine I love you!” 

“Order your fine horses! Be with them at the door!” 

“And soon you’ll be beside me!” 

“You’ll guard me and you’ll guide me.” 

And with that Y/N and Oikawa rushed off stage to the thundering applause. Tendou backed away quickly to avoid the two as they rejoiced in the privacy of the wings. He clutched his chest pulling his black shirt away in an attempt to loosen the uncomfortable friction in his chest. 

“If it wasn’t clear then Y/N I hope it is now. Will you marry me?” Oikawa asked looking into her eyes. A slight squeal from Y/N gave him his answer and they two kissed once more before running into the green room where they were greeted with a loud round of “Congratulations!” 

Meanwhile, on stage, Atsumu was singing the Phantom’s soliloquy but even with the mask propped on his face he couldn’t hide the smile that was emerging in happiness for his fellow cast members,. 

Tendou turned his headset back on and listened to the jibber jabber of the stagehands who were prepping for the next scene where the chandelier would crash onto the stage. Tendou wiped his face off to make it look as though he had a possible allergy attack and had not been mourning the loss of the love of his life. 

Gripping the mic he spoke quickly. 

“Hey, I just got an emergency text from my landlord. My apartment’s flooded and I need to go.” he lied. He didn’t bother to thank whoever agreed to relieve him and ripped his headset off throwing it to the side and narrowly avoiding the influx of cast members on his way out of the theater. 

Tendou didn’t bother to check his phone when he got home. He made a beeline for his bedroom throwing his backpack aggressively against the wall most likely shattering his computer screen and his phone. Throwing himself on the bed in a true theater fashion he drowned the pillows on his bed in salty tears. They were bitter. Filled with jealousy. All his life he’d only ever had one person who was there for him and it was Y/N. But now she was gone. 

“Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime. Say the word and I will follow you. Y/N... That’s all I ask of you...” 

Tendou silently sobbed himself to sleep that night with the once dreamlike images of Y/N now torturing him as dubious nightmares.

You were in the green room with your fiancé’s arm tucking you into his side. Your giddy expression hadn’t left your face since the moment Oikawa had proposed to you. 

It was such a perfect proposal and the audience ate it up! You were fairly certain that there had been several reporters and critics in the audience. You loved Oikawa and this along with his proposal was the beginning of a brand new world for the two of you. 

Looking around the green room, everyone was prepping to leave for the night. Y/N couldn’t find Tendou and felt like something was off since he wasn’t there to greet her with a warm chamomile tea and a bao bun like usual. 

“Tooru, love I’m going to go get my phone but let’s head home once I grab it.” You whispered in his ear. Oikawa giggled in her ear and let her go. As you packed up your belongings, you texted Tendou asking him where he was. 

You got no response. 

You shrugged it off thinking that maybe he’d headed home and his phone may have died. You and your fiancé headed out of the theater with a cheerful goodbye heading to your apartment happy as could be. 

When you got home, you had barely unlocked the door when Oikawa’s lips met yours in a fiery passion. Together your lips danced together as small noises escaped your mouth hungrily eaten up by Oikawa as he pushed you into a wall closing the door with a kick of his foot. 

Oikawa picked you up and carried you into your shared bedroom as you continued to make out ferociously. Biting his bottom lip your tongue entered his mouth exploring the crevices inside. Oikawa’s nimble fingers made quick work of disposing of your shirt and bra. 

“God Y/N... I was thinking about this all night. The moment you said yes I wanted to whisk you away back here.” Oikawa growled as he bit your ear and began to kiss the underside of your jaw as you mewled. 

Your passionate night was uninterrupted by the silence of your phone. You didn’t even bother to look at it until the next day. 

In your messages, your text to Tendou remained on delivered.  Achingly you fumbled against the nightstand looking for your cellphone. 

Right as you grabbed it a text from Tendou appeared. 

Y/N. 

I wanted to tell you from the moment that I met you that I liked you. We had all the same interests and together we were unstoppable as stage manager and lead! I guess it’s times like these where I am reminded of the day we met. 

I would never treat you any different than the way you treat me. 

I love you. I have for years and I will never stop loving you. But I know you love Oinky right? sorry that’s what Waka-kun calls him lol! Anyway, I’ll see you around. 

You were speechless. For years you had had some inkling that maybe Tendou saw you more than a friend but despite having been friends for so long, you had never felt as though they were genuine. Fleeting moments of hello and goodbye. 

Unbeknownst to Tendou, is that you still love him even if it would never be reciprocated. All Tendou wanted to ask you was to keep him together.

D23 Dissect: Emma Stone Is Cruella De Vil

First of all I want to make something quite clear, this is going to be a slightly biased post for the pure and simple reason that Cruella de Vil is not only my favourite Disney Villain but in many regards I feel my spiritual mother.

That being said, I am still going to try and present a balanced view as to why I feel this is a bad idea not just in terms of casting and creative choices over the character, but also just the movie in general.

Background:

I made a post way back when in January 2016 when the announcement that a live-action origin movie based on Cruella de Vil first surfaced, however in the three and a half year time span between that announcement and this first look, nothing has been mentioned so I genuinely believed the idea had been scrapped.

Turns out it was either just shelved in favour of their big live-action remakes, because this at least can’t be a remake due to being a prequel to The Hundred and One Dalmatians, but I desperately wanted this to just be a scrapped idea, yet this is the reality we are now in.

Also to date the character of Cruella de Vil has had three live-action incarnations with Glenn Close, Victoria Smufit and Wendy Raquel Robinson all giving their own unique interpretations to the fur-loving socialite who was first introduced in the original 1958 novel by Dodie Smith and then made famous by Betty Lou Gerson in the 1961 One Hundred and One Dalmatians animated movie.

Cruella is also one of the most well known Disney Villains, she is up there in the top tier along with Maleficent, Jafar, Ursula, Captain Hook and the Evil Queen. So any re-imagining of these beloved characters will always be under a microscope to ensure that whoever is handling them is honouring the legacy of the character, just look at the reactions to the latest trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

Disney Live-Action Renaissance:

Well it has finally happened, I strongly feel that everyone has a cut off point when it comes to franchise and brand loyalty and for me the Disney Live-Action Movies have finally reached saturation point for me.

Now again, I know that the remakes are technically a different category to the original movies, but when the movie is drawing inspiration from original material then you have to always compare because you can’t help not to.

Just to clarify, I love the live-action Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Maleficent and I enjoyed Dumbo, Cinderella, The Lion King and the first Alice in Wonderland. But 101 Dalmatians is the first movie to be remade for live-action back in 1996 and it was, for me, a fantastic version of the story.

Cruella:

As I said before, Cruella de Vil as a character holds a special place in my heart and has done since I can remember. So for me, this is a character that when portrayed differently to how they were when I first saw them, I just critically.

Glenn Close is the exception for me because for me she is on the same level as the original animated version and I can almost compare the two enough to see them both as the same character in the same universe.

Victoria Smurfit on Once Upon a Time was another good interpretation. I will admit when she was first introduced the fact she was an alcoholic magic-user who looked more like a drag-version of Patsy Stone than Cruella de Vil was an adjustment but I fell in love with the sadistic and cynical whit she had and her origin episode was brilliant.

Wendy Raquel Robinson is probably my least favourite interpretation to date and I understand she was not meant for a substantional role in Descendants but they turn her from the mad Devil Woman into simply the crazy dog lady. I loved Carlos and he was my favourite character possibly because I wanted to be him but Cruella herself wasn’t great.

In terms of the animated version of the character, because she was the first version I saw I guess I kind of imprinted on her but in both the animated movies and the animated series she’s simply brilliant.

Emma Stone:

Alright so Emma Stone is a marmite actress for me, but in her defence she is in a lot of either niche or marmite movies.

My favourite role of hers is still probably Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man movies and the prospect of at the time seeing her as Spider-Gwen would have been interesting.

Her most recent movie The Favourite was a great role for her, but the movie itself isn’t too memorable. Similarly La La Land was overhyped and Zombieland I haven’t seen.

But from a completely biased judgement, Emma Stone is not the type of actress to portray Cruella de Vil.

Prominently, Emma Stone is American while Cruella is from London. now yes both Glenn Close and Betty Lou Gerson are American but put on the British sophisticate persona, but Emma Stone to me does not have that.

She tried in The Favourite, but she never made me think “Oh yes she’s perfect for Cruella”.

Cruella Origin Movie:

Now in terms of the movie, the main things we know about it firstly are what we see in the released image from D23, where first and foremost I have to say that this looks like a drag version of Cruella de Vil...but a very bad interpreted drag styling.

Why is she wearing leather? Leather may be from a cow, but Cruella de Vil is primarily known for wearing furs rather than leathers yet here she looks like a punk goth with that really heavy eye-shadow 

She doesn’t even look like Emma Stone here, genuinely she looks like Helena Bonham Carter. The only thing about this that says Cruella is the two-tone hair because nothing else from the makeup to the outfits says Cruella to me.

Also why the dalmatians, I mean obviously this could be her having captured three dalmatians to turn into a coat but you can’t tell from this photo.

Again going back to Once Upon a Time and Cruella’s origin episode “Sympathy for the De Vil” showed Cruella as a child supposedly at the mercy of her mother who was a dalmatian dog trainer, but when she’s an adult and reveals that she is in fact a villain she turns her mother’s two dalmatians into a coat.

Emma Thompson has been cast in an undisclosed role, but if she’s playing her mother or not we don’t know.

As for Jasper and Horace, aside from the dalmatians, they are my favourite thing about this image. That’s Joel Fry on the right as Jasper and Paul Walter Hauser as Horace on the left, the latter of whom looks authentic as hell aside from the moped.

This is listed as a comedy crime drama fantasy movie, I have to say I find the fact they have comedy as a listed genre for the movie rather offensive. You’re talking about the origin of a woman who hordes furs by having innocent animals like dalmatians skinned. Jasper and Horace can provide comedy fine, but the movie should not be a comedy.

Overall I have to say I am not impressed or confident with this project at all, it is possibly the first time I can safely say I am not looking forward to a Disney movie. I will still see it to judge fairly for myself rather than not seeing it and judging without evidence, but I am not happy.

1. blink-182 - I Miss You

Probably my first taste of alternative music, driving to Norfolk to visit my family and driving my mum mad by playing it over and over. It has one of if not the most iconic pop punk verse of all time. Also I love the video but I hated the spider bit lmao. 

2. Keane - Somewhere Only We Know

Florida 2004(?), we didn’t bring any music with us so we went to Target and got this album, I don’t really remember much from that trip but whenever I hear it it takes me back. 

3. Flo Rida - Low

Army Cadets and my first ever trip away from home without my parents, we would always play this song on breaks, some of the best memories of my teenage years. 

4. Mac Miller - Donald Trump 

When the only worry I had was how many gamebattles matches me and my friends could get in before I simply HAD to go to bed at 1am. (spoiler alert I didn’t)

5. My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade

My emo phase which wasn’t really an emo phase. Thought I was super edgy listening to this. Also when I went to see Neck Deep in 2017 this came on after the last support act and the entire room sang it in unison, it was beautiful.

My very first tattoo! And my first holiday with someone other than my parents. I wont go as far as saying this song saved my life but it was always what I turned to, which is exactly why I got that lyric tattooed. I never thought they would play it again after DJ AM’s death in 2009, so hearing it live last year was one of my top 5 life experiences. 

7. Trophy Eyes - Daydreamer

I was getting into Trophy Eyes as I was really starting to figure myself out, they will always have a special place in my heart. And this song describes me to a tee. 

8. Mcfly - Transylvania 

The first band I was obsessed with, and 13 year old me thought that Dougie was the love of my life. When they finally let him sing on this song I think I actually cried. I got to meet them a few years later and it was kind of underwhelming because they seemed super uninterested, but then they were performing in Grimsby so I can’t blame them lol. 

9. The Killers - Mr Brightside

I honestly have no idea if this song is as big around the world as it is in England, but drunk screaming this at 1am at an after prom party was basically a right of passage. And any time it comes on it bangs. 

10. Foxy Shazam - Unstoppable 

California last year with Kelsey. I don’t know how many times we played this song, but thats what/who i’ll always associate it with, and it always puts a smile on my face.

Oh btw IMPORTANT THOUGHTS about maddiman variant versions so far. I havent finished drawing all the designs yet and im in the middle of capitol shopping centre right now so i cant til i get home lol. So RAMBLING TIME!!!

Sakura-viewing festival maddiman: an alt that venoct/orochi has in Yokai Watch Wibble Wobble, which i felt was such a shame cos similar stuff for other yokai could be super cute! Madds actually fits well cos the Important To His Backstory place Cherry Hill was called sakura hill in japanese. Also itd just be fun to draw him in a fancy festival kimono cos its so opposite to his usual clothes! Itd be cool also if his weapons during his attack animations switched based on costume! so i thought for this one his hospital iv stand thing could be a paper umbrella and instead of scalpels his throwing knives could be dango sticks? Not sure what the potion bottle in his special attack could be, maybe one of those confetti sphere lantern things, or a firework? Tryin to think of stuff that could still work in the same animation, i mean if he threw a tiny taiko drum it probably wouldnt explode. Tho him throwing very unexplosive stuff and it explodes could be comedy gold! Maybe he fries up various other festival snacks and flips them with a spatula and they go BOOM! Or he throws the entire sakura tree????

Miniman maddiman: jibanyan has a variant thats just Jibanyan But Fat And Large, but obv madds is already a round dude so that wouldnt work. So i dunno lol, a sudden skinny madds?? Maybe even call it 'hollywoodman' and its some bishounen actor in a really bad costume? XD weapons would all be bad cardboard versions, for the medicine bottle bomb even the clouds of smoke for the explosion would just be stagehands waving cardboard

Maddinyan: several other people have already draw designs for this but yeah give us a jibbers in madds cosplay! I like the crossover jibanyans better than the ones that are just him wearing a different hat or whatever. Maybe it could be called Dr Tuna after that one random save file i found on my copy of the game. Weapons could all be replaced with vet doctor versions, or cat stuff? Throws fishbone knives, scratching post iv stand, catnip bombs...

Gothic maddiman (gloomman?): i originally thought itd be cute if him and his son swapped outfits but their outfits are already kinda the same thing in different colours. So instead lets design a new outfit for maddiman matching his son's aesthetic! I feel like he'd probably be more gothic lolita while his son is more on the punk rock side of goth. There's a lot of very cute masc goth loli fashions, but i also think he'd totally trick out his lab coat with all the trimmings of your classic femme dress. Also totally a top hat!!!!! Maybe have an eye pattern on it to match cutely with his cyclopsness? Weapon switch ideas: iv stand = fancy cane, throwing knives = black roses?, medicine bottle = a more olden style super fancy bottle?

Hovermadds/Maddi-Man: Jibanyan has like three whole separate superhero variants lol. Hovernyan is such a weird name so i cant really make a madds pun for that? And his default outfit is already very cliche supervillain so if i wanted to do that id pretty much just stick a mask and a logo on him. So instead lets do an au version where madds is the hero! He's gotta have the silliest goddamn outfit so help me god. Maybe all his weapons could now be heart shaped lazer beams (and an entire lazer iv stand XD)

Windiman/Sunnyman: cant be sunniman cos thats a name of a religion lol. Equivelant of the illuminoct/light kyubi and dark venoct/darkyubi forms. But maddiman is already the darkness element and already uses 'light' abilities and has a white outfit. So instead make them weather/seasonal forms? And the sakura one would be close to a spring form so maybe throw in an autumn halloween maddiman just to complete the set. Also i like the idea of a summer madds thats just a yellowy colourscheme but also i like the idea of the dude in one of those old embarassing stripy dad swimsuits from the 1920s. And maybe a rubber ring and armbands and snorkel and flippers and just FULL EMBARAS! Iv stand = surfboard, knives = sandcastle shovels, bomb attack = the entire sandcastle. If i made a separate spring madds aside from sakura madds, maybe he could wear a straw sun hat and have his lab coat patterned like a nice sun dress? (Or just wear a nice sun dress underneath it cos fuck gender roles) Dunno what to do about the weapons except something something sunflowers. Autumn madds could just be him in nice autumn leafy coloured dad sweater. Weapons is leaf also! Halloween madds would be funny if he's wearing a bad frankenstein costume on top of already being a frankenstein, and weapons could be a rubber spider on a stick, some candy apples, and a pumpkin bomb. Winter madds would just be adorbs super warm coat and scarf and stuff. Maybe have a snowman instead of the iv stand? Or a snow-madds, that the turtle kids made for him and hes like I WILL CHERISH IT FOREVER! *invents new formula to make ice never melt* Also snowballs obviously. And maybe a santa costume alternate?

Events and things mentioned in Powerpuff Girls comic Mini Series: Second Chances

The mini series is broken into 6 chapters and a short epilogue, as are the notes. In total the notes are just shy of 4,000 words

Chapter One

• The comic starts with the City of Townsville being set on fire

• The girls are called and fly downtown to find Mojo is the cause and Buttercup starts complaining

• The then start trying to recall what they fought already and when, this includes a giant metal robot, giant metal spider, and a giant metal shotgun

• This time he's using a giant metal exoskeleton, and apparently this isn't the first time he's used one

• Exoskeleton looks like the one from the Alien movie

• Mojo tries to convince the girls how cool his and better this plan is only to get upset when they show disinterest

• “Oh, what do you know anyway? It's not like I took an industrial design course! I Mojo Jojo have no need for a college diploma on account of my superior intelligence- ...and superior firepower”

• He then fires a barrage of missiles at the girls, who get them all together and following them before leading them back to hit Mojo

• Buttercup taunts him after, saying they haven't fought a Giant Metal Hedgehog yet [Fist Bump cover by Natewantstobattle played right after I read that]

• Mojo is taken back to jail and on the way he is talking out loud trying to figure out how his genius plans are always stopped by children

• The officer lists off all of Mojo's belongings which are:

    ○ One big hat

    ○ One singed purple cape

    ○ One death ray gun

    ○ One pack of gum: Mint Fresh

    ○ Two double-A batteries

    ○ One Frequent Coffee Buyer's Reward Card

    ○ One Self-Help Book on Public Speaking

• The girls are at Malt's Shoppe when the shop owner, Mr. Malt, gives them a banana split as thanks for taking care of Mojo. He also tips them off to a special event happening tomorrow in honor of the girls

• Buttercup is exited thinking they finally made statues of the girls

• The next day the Mayor unveils the gift for the girls, Three sets of golf clubs and a Lifetime Membership to Townsville Golf and Country Club

• And the Mayor hopes they'll join him for a round of Charity golf that weekend

• Buttercup is upset, finding golf boring

• A swamp monster rises from the water trap at the 16th hole and the Girls fly off to fight it, but not before making a bunch of golf puns

• The girls fight the monster, not understanding it's heavy accent

• It slaps Bubbles away into a puddle of algae to which both she and Buttercup find disgusting

• The girls use their new clubs to slice and hit the monster, and Buttercup shouts that she now loves this game

• The monster turned out to be a man, Jock Scott, at its core, who thanks the girls for freeing him

• Blossom knows the man saying, “Not Jock Scott, famous golfer who hit a 225 on a Par 72 and mysteriously disappeared at the Masters open in 1963?” to which he confirms he is.

• Blossom says she likes to watch golf

• Mojo is shown watching the live new of the girls' fight

• on the cell wall it says “The Amobea Boyz wuz hear”

• Mojo is upset and ranting about how he has never won against the girls, then asks the visitor he requested see him, free Mojo from the prison of his mind and the memories of his repeated failures

• He begs the Professor for Antidote X

Chapter Two

• It starts back at the prison, with two inmates talking about Mojo Jojo giving up villainy

• It's all framed like Mojo is on death row and heading to the electric chair

• He's last words before Antidote X enters the gas chamber are an apology for any and all inconveniences he's wrought on them. Them being The Mayor, Ms. Bellum, and the Girls

• The gas is let in and Mojo breaks his bindings, but as more of a reaction to the Antidote X

• The Professor has the girls stay back while he gets a sleeping Jojo out out of the chamber

• He also says that Jojo is his responsibility and is thus taking Jojo is as part of their family, to which Buttercup protests claiming it's just some trick of Mojo's

• despite her protesting, they take in Jojo, throwing him a “Welcome Home” party

• Jojo starts running around the kitchen, swinging from the banner and falling on the cake they had for him, which starts a food fight between him and the girls

• during that he manages to slip passed them and into the lab where he is running around breaking more things, and knocking down a beaker of Chemical X

• The Professor catches it before it can fall on Jojo's head

• The Professor locks away the Chemical X in a safe and gets everyone ready for bed

• Bubbles really likes Jojo and wants him to like living with them, while Buttercup hates the idea, saying “A leopard doesn't change its spots”

• Blossom says that he's not Mojo Jojo anymore, that they'll have to find it in their hearts to forgive his past attempts to destroy them, saying it's the right thing to do and that everyone deserves a second chance

• Him is shown watching the girls and complains that they never gave him a second chance

• Enjoying the idea of an eventual betrayal of the trust earned in a second chance, Him decides to “give these girls a little lesson in 'forgiveness'...”

• Him's eyes glow green, and so does every major villain in Townsville

• Blossom bolts up out of bed the next morning and rushes to the window followed by her groggy sisters

• They fly off to get the Professor and all go outside to see Townsville's villains doing a bunch of chores; mowing the lawn, washing the car, repainting the house, and gardening

Chapter Three

• Starts with the Ex-villains of Townsville

    ○ Sedusa is a hair stylist working on three clients' hair at once

    ○ Princess is at a soup kitchen ladling money to the poor

    ○ Fuzzy is a Realtor selling properties to people

    ○ The Gangreen Gang are making a large statue of the girls in the park

• Buttercup thinks its all fishy, complaining that she hasn't been able to hit anyone in the past week because their all too nice

• Bubbles says she and Fuzzy are volunteering at the animal shelter after she's out of school

• Blossom says she and Sedusa are going to get things ready for the annual tulip festival in the park

• Buttercup points out the weird timing, first Mojo then the rest of the villains, gets frustrated talking to Blossom and unable to completely voice her feelings, and says warned them for when it all goes wrong

• Meanwhile The Professor is having a hard time with Jojo

• The Professor sets some bananas down on the floor below Jojo

• Jojo takes the bait and the Professor sets off a rube goldberg machine to trap him in a cage

• The phone rings and the Professor politely refuses their offer saying his too busy to play any games, and saying he's been getting a lot of telemarketing calls lately

• He then goes to show a grumpy Jojo the experiment he's working on; “an atomic-powered coffee maker guaranteed to keep your coffee hot for 24,100 years!”

• Also meanwhile, Him is shown taking a bath and watching what's going on in Townsville; Blossom is flying kites with Little Arturo, Bubbles is fishing with Fuzzy, and Buttercup is by herself looking grumpy

• There's also two monitors? Him has of cats just to the side of the ones of Blossom and Bubbles

• Him goes on to the next step of his plan and wakes up a giant octopus to attack the city

• The girls are in class when they hear a loud boom and see smoke coming from the city

• Buttercup is excited, taking the lead on the way downtown and saying that she is going to knock Ace and the Gangreen Gang into next month

• Her sisters point out they don't know who is causing trouble yet, and after saying she'll beat up who ever is actually responsible, she's going to beat up

• They get downtown and notice Ace is there

• He and everyone else are wanting the Powerpuff Girls help in fighting the monter

• The girls are all stunned, Buttercup thinking it's weird but doesn't care as she gets to punch something

• Working together, they all fight the octopus; who, when it's had enough, squirts ink on all of them and runs away back to the ocean

• Sedusa says that from now on they'll all fight together to defend Townsville

• Princess suggests they all go for malts, and that it's her treat

• Buttercup says this is going to take some getting used to

Chapter Four

• Starts with the Gangreen Gang at the park playing basketball when a business man walks by throwing his empty coffee on the ground

• Ace, “Eh, youse might want to reconsider your decision there, mister”

• Business man calls them punks and says he has more important things to do, to which Ace replies, “Oh, far be it from me to stifle the progress of commerce in our fair city, but you is gonna put your litter in its proper place if'in you know what's good for ya.”

• Guy still refuses and they stuff him in an trashcan with his empty coffee

• Fuzzy is aiming his shotgun at a poacher planning on killing a moose

• Princess is helping out Madame Foster cross the street and carrying her shopping bag

• The Amoeba Boys join the army

• And the Girls are dealing with a robbery at the jewelry store, and the robbers involved are two nameless guys never seen before

• According to the Narrator, Him resides deep below the city of Townsville

• Him's monitors are place so that Princess's head is covering Ms. Bellum's head

• Now that everyone in Townsville believe the villains have turned over a new leaf, Him says he'll loosen his mind control over them and watch the villains slip back into old habits

• Looking at a screen of Ace and Buttercup laughing together, Him says, “A leopard doesn't change its spots, you know!”

    ○This saying dates back to the Old Testament, Jeremiah 13:23

• Blossom and Princess are fixing beams under a bridge when Princess's eyes glow green and she aims her laser to hit Blossom

• Buttercup is with the Gangreen Gang cleaning the subway of all their graffiti when Ace's eye glow the same green and he pushes Buttercup in front of a Subway

• Buttercup is able to stop the Subway, pushing against it to stop it

• Bubbles and Fuzzy are having a picnic

• Fuzzy says that he love all the forest animals and that he plays the banjo for them, also stating that the rabbits are his favorite

• Bubbles complements the sandwiches Fuzzy made, and he informs her that they are; meat jelly sandwiches, and are a family recipe

• Fuzzy's eyes glow green and he gets mad at a group of ants on the picnic blanket

• Bubbles tries to calm him down, but Fuzzy says that this is his home and they don't belong here. Then pointing out that all this land belonged to his ancestors until Townsville came along

• He give Bubbles to the count of five before he chases her off his property with his boomstick, and she flies off crying at his threat

• The Professor is at home putting sugar, spice, and everything nice into a bowl

• Jojo is next to the bowl looking ad a bag of Flour and the Professor is laughing about the nostalgia

• The phone rings and The Professor tells them that he's busy at the moment and has no time for games

• He state after hanging up that he's going to have to talk to the mayor due to crank callers constantly calling

• Bubbles flies home just as Jojo spills all the flour on himself, and the Professor mistakes her being upset over the lost of the cake he was preparing

• Bubbles tries to tell him why she's really upset but the Professor interrupts her saying that they'll take a trip to the store and stop for ice cream on the way. Bubbles then tries to bargain for three scoops

• Blossom and Princess are fighting as Bubbles and the Professor drive by on the bridge, Bubbles trying to get even more scoops of ice cream

• Princess says bridges are stupid and blasts a chunk out of it, and Blossom rushes down to catch it, punching Princess on the way and telling her to stop

• Meanwhile the Gangreen Gang are at the park cleaning up litter when Billy sees a hot dog vendor, and starts eating all the hot dogs despite not having money

• Ace says that he's had enough of “this goody-goody business” and he and the other start making a mess of the park

• Sedusa is working again as a hair stylist and is bored and irritated with her clientele, and she shaves off all the ladies' hair. Their screaming gets Buttercup to crash through the window and start a fight with Sedusa

• Meanwhile the Amoeba boys are in the Nevada Desert and put in charge of guarding the states supply of canola oil said to be the backbone of the fast-food economy

• The boys can't stand the heat and head to the mess hall for a drink of plankton water when a bomb goes off on one of the canola silos

• The Amoeba boys get court-martialed, and Slim says Bossman is a criminal genius, while Bossman looks unsure of what happened

• Back at the Utonium house, the phone is ringing non-stop

• Jojo gets out of his cage, smacks the phone and leans in to hear it, hearing, “Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?”

• His eyes start to swirl green and he sets up a game of solitaire, muttering, “Jo, Jo.” three times before, “Mo- Jo. ...Jojo” and turning green and sneering finally says, “Mojo.”

Chapter Five

• Starts with Bubbles and the Professor at Malph's getting flour when Fuzzy is outside shouting at everyone to get off his property and turning everything into various cuts of meat

• Bubbles is scared stating the last time Fuzzy used that meat gun he turned her pigtail into a drumstick

• The professor comforts her when Blossom and Princess come flying by, only to continue their own fighting

• Princess says that being good is too much work and not enough pay, also saying bridges are for people who have to go work for a living and that she is never going to need a bridge

• Blossom gets one more hit on Princess before Buttercup gets thrown through the window

• Outside, Sedusa, Fuzzy, Princess, and the Gangreen Gang are running amok

• Buttercup and Blossom get ready to go out there and fight them all when Bubbles tells Blossom she doesn't think she can do that. Admitting that she is a little scared of Fuzzy as well as that there's still good in him, that she can feel it.

• her sisters help her not be scared and that while Fuzzy may still be good deep down, he is currently doing bad and needs to be taken care of.

• The Girls start fighting all the villains in the parking lot when an earthquake happens and Him rises from the ground

• Calls the girls gullible children for believing they could reform the worst of society with kindness and understanding. Adding that the girls “never want to see the shadow cast by all living things.”

• Him claims that “They just take what they want, without remorse, and give nothing in return. It's in their DNA!” also says that all it took was a “teeny bit of mind alteration” to have them all getting along

• Him tells Ace that all he did was “put a cork in their bad habits” for a while and when he stopped the suppression of them, all the villains when back to petty crimes and misbehavior

• All the Villains are upset at Him, Fuzzy saying he had a good thing going with the real estate business, saying he was a closer.

• Him says it's all in their nature, and not to blame the chef when the ingredients are rotten

• Fuzzy rallies the villains to stand up against Him and Fuzzy shoots him with his meat gun

• Him gets mad that Fuzzy “dare turn [his] weapon on [Him's] haute couture” and sneers asking what he's going to do about it, calling Him a “Lobster Man”

• Saying that they have their own demons to battle, Him names off the seven deadly sins and the shadows of those around Him, villains and heroes, weigh down the person and bare the names of various sins

    ○ Sedusa's shadow is Envy

    ○ Princess's shadow is Greed

    ○ Big Billy's shadow is Gluttony

    ○ Blossom's shadow is Pride

    ○ Buttercup's shadow is Wrath

• Blossom's and Buttercup's shadows actually speak

    ○ Pride, “I'm the prettiest, smartest, and most important Powerpuff Girl”

    ○ Wrath, “I have so much anger in my heart. I must hurt others to keep the rage at bay.”

• Bubbles doesn't have a shadow bearing a sin, saying Him's whole shadow talk “falls apart when the light is too bright!”

• Bubbles starts to actually shine, blinding everyone, but also makes the shadows disappear, saying that nobody is perfect but there's goodness in everyone, and all you need is love

• Him has had enough and leaves with these parting words, “Take heed! Trust no one and forgive no trespass. Suspicion, fear, and hatred are the natural order of things, and you'd do well to embrace that.”

• Ace suggest that everyone just go their own way since Him messed with all of them, to which Buttercup protests, but Blossom agrees to, since they aren't actually at fault this time

• Bubbles asks Fuzzy before he goes if they could finish their picnic sometime and though he's still grumpy says maybe, and Bubbles hugs him thanking him

• Blossom and Buttercup are ashamed and tell the Professor that they aren't perfect little girls after all, But the Professor says they're perfect to him, and loves them just as they are, which gets the girls to smile again

• Buttercup asks the Professor how long until go back to how they were, and the he says its hard to say. That real change takes time, but every good deed leaves it's mark, and that the hard part is never giving up hope

Chapter Six

• Starts with the girls and Professor driving home, and Buttercup asking the Professor if he saw all her attacks, getting so excited talking about it she doesn't see that their house is smoking with the Front door blasted away

• The Professor is worried about Jojo and the girls clear the smoke to make it easier to see

• They see the Lab also has blast damage and find the safe with Chemical X has been broken, with the beaker broken on the ground

• Buttercup points out a message written on the wall saying “I'm BACK! -sincerely, Mojo Jojo”

• The message is brown, and Mojo left his diaper pinned to the wall of the lab

• The girls are understandably grossed out

• The Professor points out his coffee maker full of Plutonium-239 is missing as well

• There's a loud, earth rumbling boom and the girls fly outside to see a laser coming from Mojo's volcano top lair

• Buttercup says, “I told you so” to her sisters before braking in to stop Mojo

• Mojo tells the girls he plans on destroying Townsville to rebuild it as he wishes, and when Bubbles asks what changed his mind to make him go back to a life of crime, Mojo admits this has been his plan all along

• Hours before his original attack in the exoskeleton robot he realized that his plan would be stopped again by the girls so;

    ○ He hypnotized himself with subconscious instructions to find Chemical X

    ○ Faked all his moping while being dragged to prison

    ○ Tricked the Professor into giving him antidote X knowing he'd feel responsible for Mojo, and take him back in

    ○ Set up a giant drinking bird that would make a phone call to the girls house every hour and play his trigger message, “Maybe you should play a little solitaire”

    ○ Once he heard the message, he sought out chemical X, got back to his old self and stole the Professor's coffee maker

• Mojo had an atomic bomb powered by the Plutonium-239 coffee maker and plans on sending it down into the volcano where it will cause lava to rain down on all of Townsville and cover it in atomic ash for then next few decades

• Mojo also says he has a secret plan B if the girls stop plan A, and Mojo leave in an escape pod while the girls are left trying to stop the destruction of Townsville

• They can't find the button in time and the giant drinking bird hit the button sending the rocket and bomb into the volcano

• The girls dive after it and it's going to fast to disarm it, so instead Blossom get under it freezing the cap with her ice breath to cool the lava under it and slow the rocket, Bubbles screeches to get the outer shell of the rocket to break away and buttercup spirals around the plutonium case and bringing it up with her

• Buttercup's spiral keeps the lava from pouring out after she' out of the volcano,

• Blossom and Bubble are both shown using ice breath to cool the pillar of lava into rock

• Way above the earth Buttercup gets dizzy from all the spinning, but manages to kick the plutonium right into the sun and just missing Mojo's escape pod, to which she's irritated she missed

• Buttercup, still dizzy falls off the top of the very narrow volcano and her sisters catch and hug her, and starts shouting “enough of the mushy stuff! Sheesh.”

Epilogue

• Mojo is in space and not terribly upset that his plan failed, saying that's why he has a plan B

• He hits a button and a “World re Vision” is on the screen with a download bar under it

• Says that he'll come back after a few weeks and come out of his egg ship and the people of earth will worship him like a king

• Realizes that if he's going to be up in space orbiting the planet for a few weeks, that he should have installed a bathroom, adding that he really didn't think this plan through
