Whumpmas in July Day 18: "Or else"
i'm sorry for being so slow with k&j chapters! i'm going to try to be quicker with them in the future. here's one people have been waiting for for a very long time!
-
“You’re sick.”
Jim blinked, taken aback. “What?”
“You’re sick,” Kane repeated, taking another sip from the bowl. One of his last bowls before he was to start finding his own elsewhere. “I can taste it.”
“What? What kind of sick? Is it serious?” Jim asked with increasing urgency. Kane could see it in his eyes: he knew fear, and he hated to see it in Jim.
He wanted more than anything to reassure him, but he couldn’t lie. “I-I don’t know?” he admitted. “I don’t know much of human illnesses. You seem… fine?”
“Shit. Shit shit shit.” Jim grabbed his coat. “I’ll be back soon. I gotta… go to the doctor, or something. Door,” he warned.
“I’m sorry. I’m sure you’ll be okay! You can’t even feel it! You’re a healthy young man!” Kane assured him, ducking into the kitchen.
“Thanks for warning me!” Jim’s voice was laden with nerves. A flash of sunlight made Kane shiver, and he only returned to the living room when it was gone.
Kane knew what this meant: Jim would likely not finish out the week. This was his last meal given. He would have to go to vampire territory tonight, or else he would have nothing to eat come tomorrow. He had to find blood tonight, or else he’d starve. He’d go back to that horrible, empty state, always wanting, always in pain.
He knew Jim wouldn’t really let that happen, but it wasn’t fair to rely on him for blood forever, either. Kane had taken enough, with and without permission. It was Jim’s turn to rest.
Still, the fear of hunger never left him. It was a part of him now, permanently, no matter how much he fed.
And this meant one thing. The thing he’d been putting off and dreading since Jim set him free.
He would have to go to vampire territory and talk to his parents. He knew already that it would not go over well. Father would be either furious or crushingly disappointed that he’d allowed himself to be humiliated by humans, and he wasn’t sure which was worse. Mother would undoubtedly be the latter. He wondered, not for the first time, if they preferred him ‘dead’.
It shouldn’t matter. He knew now that they weren’t… good people. He could see that. He had a new family of sorts, now that Jim had taken him in.
But Jim wasn’t his legal next of kin, and Jim wasn’t the one he had to ask if he wanted his money returned so he could buy blood.
He could always get a job. But it seemed ridiculous to do when he had money sitting right there, and he would likely be found by his parents at some point anyway. There was no avoiding it forever.
Kane drank the bowl down quickly.
-
It was a flu, apparently. Nothing life-threatening, but it set Jim’s anxieties alight. His parents had died of illness, he explained.
While Kane had managed to catch it early, Jim started to devolve within a few hours of arriving home.
Kane knocked on his bedroom door. “Jim? Can I come in?”
“Ugh. Yeah,” he agreed.
Carefully balancing the tray, he entered. He found Jim curled up in bed, looking miserable.
“I’ve brought you lunch.” He’d been practicing his human food skills. He was still quite afraid of the stove, so though he used it when feeling especially brave, he mainly stuck to things that didn’t require cooking. He’d written down several combinations of foods that humans found appetizing, which could often be served in between slices of bread as a ‘sandwich’.
But he needed a tray instead of a plate, because despite his strength, he simply didn’t have enough hands to carry the six cups of water circled around it.
“Lotta water,” Jim noted weakly, grabbing a glass and taking a sip when Kane brought it close. His hand shook, the liquid threatening to spill. Kane watched it close, ready to steady it in a heartbeat if Jim needed him to.
He spoke gently, like he was worried speaking too loud would break Jim in his fragile state. “...Like I’d mentioned, I don’t know much about human illness. Most of what I know comes from you. I just remember… you wanted a lot of water, last time.”
He thought about that time a lot. How he was so close to losing Jim, because he was too proud to listen.
“Ah. Yeah.” Jim wouldn’t look him in the eye. “I remember.”
Kane set the tray down. “I should have taken better care of you,” he whispered. “I’m sorry. I mean–I shouldn’t have had you in the first place, but I did, and you were my responsibility, and I didn’t care for you like I should have.” A hint of tears in his eyes, he took Jim’s unusually-sweaty hand. “I’ll do better this time. Anything you need, I’ll be there.”
That earned a small smile from Jim. “Guess it isn’t so bad being waited on. ‘Specially because you can’t get sick, right?” The smile faded. “…Right?”
“I can’t,” Kane assured him. “You don’t need to worry. Just rest, and I’ll take care of anything you need.”
Jim huffed an almost-laugh. “You really changed, man.”
-
Liz did come over to visit come nightfall, which was good, since despite his promises, Kane had to leave. He didn’t like the thought of leaving Jim alone at night. He knew it made him scared, and Jim deserved to never feel afraid ever again. She brought a container of soup, a yellow liquid with colorful plants and large white orbs floating in it.
He waited, patient, until Liz emerged from Jim’s room. “Liz?”
“Hey. Thanks for looking after him,” Liz said.
“Of course!” The praise spread warmly through him. “There’s, um, something I wanted to talk to you about, if you have the time? Advice, I suppose.”
“Shoot,” she encouraged, flopping over on the couch.
Kane took a deep breath. “So, um, I assume now is a good time to start getting my own blood.”
“Yyyyeah.” Liz shot a glance to the stairs leading to Jim’s room. “I’d say that’s about right.”
“Blood… isn’t free. I have the money–had the money, but I’ve likely been assumed dead for many years. I’ll need to go to my parents to get it back,” he explained. “My parents are not kind people, I’ve come to realize.”
Liz raised an eyebrow, but politely refrained from making any comments about his former obliviousness. “You think they won’t give it back? Isn’t there, like, laws? This can’t be the first time this has happened with vampires, you guys are too good at not dying.”
“No! No, that’s not it, they’d give it back. It’s just, um, they’ll be… quite upset with me, I think. Especially my father.” He sighed. “I didn’t want to talk about it with Jim. I was worried he would feel pressured into giving me more blood than he’s comfortable with. I don’t know. It shouldn’t be as big a deal as it is. I’ve been through so much worse, I don’t understand why this is so terrifying. I suppose I’ve just never failed this badly before.”
“Hey, you made it out of five years with those monsters, alive. Bet there’s not a lot of vampires who could say that,” Liz pointed out.
“Ah, that’s just… not how Father would see it,” Kane said vaguely. Humans were supposed to be the weak ones. The fact that it took him five years to be freed, and he couldn’t even do it himself, would make him an utter embarrassment in their eyes.
And it was all because he couldn’t use persuasion. Everything they’d always believed about him, proven true.
Liz pursed her lips, lost in thought for a moment. “I don’t remember my parents that well,” she admitted. “I know yours suck pretty bad. I don’t think you have to admit more than you need to, right? Like, do they even need to know where you’ve really been? You could just make something up, for the sake of keeping the peace.”
“Make something up…” Kane murmured. He shook his head. “I’m not a very good liar. They’d see right through me. It’s fine, actually, the more I talk about it, the more I realize I’m being a bit ridiculous.” He forced a laugh. “It’s one uncomfortable conversation and then I can come back home.”
“You’ve got this.” Liz patted him lightly on the back, a modification from her usual clap she’d learned tended to scare him. “You’re tough.”
Kane certainly didn’t feel ‘tough’.
“Thank you. It was nice to at least… get it out of my system. Oh, and congratulations. Jim told me about you and Laken.”
Liz smiled. “After what happened, I just knew I had to say something, you know? If they could just be taken from me at any moment. Stuff happens. People die. I didn’t want something to happen to one of us before I could tell them how I feel.”
She stood. “I can give you one more night’s worth, maybe two. If you need some time to think about it and all.”
Kane startled. He and Liz had grown far more amicable over the past months, but he hadn’t expected this from her.
Maybe he should have. It wasn’t the first time. He thought of Jim, on that first night, vehemently denying Liz’s offer to provide blood, vowing to do it himself.
“...Thank you. That means so, so much to me. It’s alright, though. I’ll go tonight,” he decided.
“Good luck. We’ll be here when you get back,” she promised.
And that was all he really needed, in the end.
Kane got up, heading to the door with a quick glance back to make sure it was alright. For the freedom he’d earned, he hadn’t gone more than ten feet from the house since he’d returned with Laken. But of course, Liz made no move to stop him. “I’ll see you soon.”
-
The night was as beautiful as ever, even in the cool autumn air. He liked it better this way, in fact. It made it more comfortable to wear more clothing, the long pants and long sleeves and jacket he liked, especially when he ran. When he went this fast, he hardly felt the cold, and his mind was occupied elsewhere.
What if his parents made demands of him in exchange for their help? What if they expected him to return to vampire territory, to isolate himself out of the way in a socially-acceptable manner? Now that he’d tasted true companionship, he almost couldn’t bear to give it up. And what about Jim? Ever since Laken’s abduction, he’d been more scared at night. The very least Kane owed him was his protection.
His petty worries disappeared the instant he realized he could hear a vehicle coming closer.
Kane ran faster, opposite the sound. He’d likely been pushing fifty miles an hour before, and could make sixty if he tried–but he was out of practice, and the vehicle was faster.
A glance behind him showed moonlight glinting off a silver crossbow.
“I have permission!” he wailed as the off-roader gained, heart threatening to burst from his chest. This couldn’t happen, not again, no. Jim and Liz wouldn’t even think to look for him until a day had passed, a day that could easily be spent baking in the hot sun. “Liz Lieberman granted me permission to cross! Please, I didn’t do anything! Mercy!”
“Kane?” an unfamiliar voice called. The vehicle caught up to him, but there was no attack. “Oh shit, it’s you!” the driver said. “It’s so dark, I almost didn’t recognize you from the picture Laken showed us. Thanks for bringing ‘em back.”
Kane slowed, just a bit. “What?” he squeaked, tears streaming down his face.
The hunter in the passenger seat elbowed his partner, making quick movements with his hands that Kane could not understand. A signed language of some sort, he assumed. Though he didn’t know much about such things, other than that spoken orders under persuasion often didn’t work on humans who utilized it.
“Uh, my partner wants to know if you’re good? Like, you’re alright?” The driver asked. “Did we scare you? Sorry. Just, uh, you know, gotta be quick with the other guys. One second wasted and you miss ‘em, and that’s someone’s whole life, y’know.”
“Oh. Um, yes, you’d–you’d frightened me. I’m sorry.” Kane wasn’t quite sure what he was apologizing for. “Am I… free to go, sirs?”
“Yeah! Yeah, you can go… sir? Shoot, don’t let us keep you,” the hunter assured.
The one in the passenger seat made more hand-signs, waving him goodbye after. “Nice to meet you!” the other translated, finally driving away.
Kane picked up speed again and didn’t stop until he was sure he’d left the border far behind. He collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
He was so close to going back to the pain. If they hadn’t recognized him, he would have been skewered with silver–likely soon killed, not tortured, given they were from Liz’s guild, but still, he would have died in pain. No matter how hard he breathed, he felt like he couldn’t get enough air, and he wasn’t sure if it was that he’d been sprinting for too long or the sheer horror.
He wanted Jim. He wanted Jim to hold him and tell him everything was alright, that he was safe, that no one was going to hurt him. But Jim was miles and miles away, and could not help him here.
And he couldn’t cry on the ground forever. He was burning moonlight, and he needed blood.
Kane forced himself to his feet and wrapped his arms around him. If he squeezed his eyes tight, he could pretend he wasn’t alone, for just a moment.
After a minute like that, he started running once more.
-
By the time Kane reached his parents’ estate, he’d mostly calmed down. It was hard to feel as though hunters would ambush him out of nowhere when he went deep enough into vampire territory to see buildings and people. Any hunter here would be apprehended in seconds.
He touched the gate, brass-coated, though he knew there was silver underneath. There seemed to be some sort of electronic device attached to it, a new addition since his last visit, but he wasn’t sure how to use it. He could climb it, or simply shout, and one of the staff would likely hear him. If he wanted to be extra polite, which he did, he could simply stand here until someone came or went and ask to be let in.
And then that would be it. Kane would be standing face-to-face with his parents. He would accept Father’s ire without complaint. He’d had worse, he reminded himself, even when it came to the comparable. The hunters had spit on him while calling him worthless, ground his face into the floor while forcing him to decry himself as beneath them. It had been so much worse.
His hand shook against the gate.
You’ve really changed, man.
Had he? If he was still back here, ready to take whatever judgments his parents threw at him, debase himself and eagerly beg for their forgiveness, had he really changed? There were humans in there. Captive, hurt humans who he could never in a thousand years be able to free if he tried, locked away in their quarters. What happened to all his regrets? His vows that he would never associate with anything of the sort again?
What would he have done differently here before, if he’d realized back then everything he knew now?
Kane left.
-
It took him a bit to find it, he hadn’t been to this town before, but it wasn’t far, and he knew the address.
There was a different kind of dread this time. If he was rejected here, it might be even worse than his parents. But as he rang the doorbell, he knew this was what he had to do.
The man who answered looked almost exactly the same as the last time he’d seen him, thirteen years ago. The same dark skin, perfect hair, typically garishly-colorful shirt.
Bellamy’s eyes went impossibly wide, as though he’d seen a ghost.
“Kane?”

Dr. Uncle Will
Request: Hey I loved your most recent Connor Rhodes x sister!reader!!! Could you write a littlest Halstead one where she gets sick and Jay has to call Will for help?
Pairings: Jay Halstead x Daughter!Reader
Warnings: fluff, angst, sickness
Littlest Halstead
Masterlist
Jay Halstead was a great father to you, Y/N Halstead, and if you asked anyone if he was a good dad they would say that he's not just a good dad but a great dad. He has loved you ever since you were born and he thought he could spot anything since he was a detective but he was wrong and he found that out one night.
You were sick. You just felt run down and just overall felt like shit, especially when it came to playing your favorite sport, softball. Recently your entire 5th grade class had been going through a round of sickness. Some had the flu, some had a viral infection, and some just had a cold. You were lucky enough not to get anything until last week.
Jay had been busy with a case that he admits that he wasn't paying as close attention as he normally did. Even though he wasn't paying as much attention he did pick up some stuff like your lack of wanting to eat and you being really cuddly towards him, a movement that you only did when you were sick or getting sick. He wasn't concerned enough to call your uncle, Will Halstead, just yet but that would all change tonight.
You started to feel sick one Monday morning and it just progressed from there. Jay was in the kitchen preparing for his day at work and preparing your lunch for the day. He looked down at his watch and smiled when he saw that it would soon be time for your footsteps to start padding down the hallway. A few minutes went by and no sign from you which made him frown. “Wonder what the holdup is?” He asked himself as he put down what he was doing and walked to your room. He gently knocked on the door and usually he would get a response but he didn't. “Y/N/N it's time to get up for school.” He said using a soothing fatherly tone as he opened the door.
“Daddy?” You asked lazily looking up at him and he furrowed his eyebrows that's not like you.
“It's me, Baby Girl. It's time to get up.” He said coming to sit by you on your bed and just like a magnet you curled into him. He didn't think much of it, he just thought you wanted to be near him. “Are you ok?” He asked as he cuddled you and you nodded, you didn't want to inconvenience him.
“Yea I'm fine.” You lied easily. He didn't look convinced but went with it.
“Ok. We need to leave in 10 minutes so you need to get up and get ready.” He said and you nodded. He bent down and kissed your head and hugged you then he was getting up and leaving. Once he was gone you were sluggish to get up. It was like your movements were in slow motion and everything hurt but you powered through it. The time you got to the kitchen your father was already packing your lunch in your lunch box and grabbing your bag and waited by the front door. “Khloe and her mom are taking you to practice and I will pick you up after ball.” He said as he handed you some breakfast and your water bottle.
“Ok.” You said as you slipped on your shoes and then your backpack and took the lunch box from him. He nodded and then the both of you were out the door.
Once outside and in his truck that you loved so much you settled into the passenger seat and got comfortable. As you started to move you started to feel better and your dad picked up on this so the concern, he had this morning went out the window. You ate all your breakfast sandwich that your dad made that you loved and drank some of your water. He was really a good cook even though he doesn't like to admit it. The truck ride was filled with low music and quiet laughter and smiles. You definitely felt better after eating something. He pulled up to the school and parked and you got ready to get out. “Remember Khloe is taking you to practice and I will be picking you up.” He said and you nodded.
“Got it, Dad.” You added smiling and he smiled and nodded then you were getting out and opening the backdoor to grab your softball gear.
“I love you.” He said as he looked back at you.
“I love you too.” You said and then closed the door. He made sure you were in the school before driving off. You sighed preparing yourself to start the long boring day and the dreaded practice.
Throughout the school day you were back to feeling sluggish and your nose started to run. You also just wanted to lay down on something cold and take a nap. “Ms. Halstead, are you feeling, ok?” Mrs. Jean asked while everyone was at recess, you had been staying close to the bleachers and the students, which wasn't like you, you took a minute to respond but you nodded your head. She came over to you and sat next to you. It took a minute for you to notice she was there and you turned to look at her.
“I'm ok.” You said in a quiet voice.
“You look a little pale. Why don't you head to the nurse to lay down?” She asked in a concerning motherly tone; she did have 4 kids of her own. You shook your head.
“I'm really ok.” You said and she smiled softly at you.
“Ok. I won't push you. If you start feeling worse let me know and you can go to the nurse.” She said and you nodded at her and then she got up and left.
Lunch came and you didn’t feel like eating so you hardly ate anything. You left the rest in the lunchbox and went on with your day. The rest of the day you just dragged throughout the day not having the energy to do anything. When it came to gym class Mrs. Link let you set out because she could see how much you were struggling today. By the end of the day, you were feeling worse and you just wanted your dad but first you needed to get through softball practice.
“Hey, are you ready to go?” Khloe asked as she came up to you with her bag and gear. You looked at her smiling and nodded.
“Yea, I’m ready.” You said and she smiled and the two of you walked out. You grabbed your water bottle and downed half of it as you got to her mom’s car. Drinking something helped so you weren’t too concerned.
“Good afternoon, girls. Did you have a good day at school?” Khloe’s mom asked.
“It was alright.” You said and she frowned.
“You look a little pale my dear. Are you feeling, ok?” She asked as she looked at you.
“She hasn’t been feeling good since this morning.” Khloe said and you elbowed her. “What? I could see it when you walked in and didn’t say hi to me.” She said and you huffed and sunk into the seat. Her mother nodded but you knew she was still concerned. The car ride to the field was filled with car music and Khloe and her mom talking and laughing. You would comment when needed but you were just trying not to throw up. When you arrived at the field all three of you got out. You and Khloe grabbed your gear and you your backpack and walked over to the dugout and started to get ready.
You went through the motions of practice not really putting in the effort and everyone could see that which is why you had gotten pulled over to the side by Coach Ludgate. “Sweetie, are you feeling, ok?” She asked and you shrugged your shoulders.
“Yes.” You said and she looked at you in a concerned fatherly look. “No.” You admitted and he smiled softly at you and nodded.
“I can tell. You’re red in the face and you look pale. You also don’t seem as energetic as other times. Why don’t you go sit in the dugout out of the sun and cool off? Can’t have my best player collapsing on me.” He said smiling and you smiled back and walked sluggishly back to the dugout and laid down on the bench and closed your eyes. You don’t know how long you had your eyes closed but you then felt something cool being draped over your head. Your eyes shot open quickly and you came face to face with your dad.
“Dad?” You asked and he smiled, running a hand through your hair.
“Hey, Baby Girl. Thought I would come early and watch you practice. When I asked where you were they led me here.” He said and tears welled up in your eyes. “What’s wrong?” He asked as you sat up.
“I don't feel good.” You said quietly and he nodded, smiling softly.
“Let’s get you home. How long have you been feeling this way?” He asked
“Since this morning.” You said as you got up and grabbed your stuff and he nodded. He turned to look at your coach and he nodded and so the two of you made your way to his car and then home.
“Why didn't you let me know?” He asked as he threw your bags into the backseat.
“You were busy and I didn't want to disturb you or put more on your plate because you had a sick kid.” You said and his heart broke. For such a young kid you were smart and very generous of people's feelings.
“I would do anything for you.” He said and you nodded and sank into the cool leather of his truck. The ride home was quiet and uneventful; you had actually closed your eyes and fallen asleep. The music was down low so as to not disturb you. Jay was beating himself up, he should've seen the signs, he should've asked questions, he's a detective he should be able to pick up on things especially when it came to his own daughter. But you were just like him and you hid a lot of things well and you didn't let emotions show. By the time you got to the apartment you were out. He parked the truck and turned off the ignition. He sighed “Looks like I’ll be carrying you.” He said, chuckling to himself. He opened his door and got out then went over to the passenger side first grabbing your backpack and slung it over his shoulder and then he quietly shut the door and opened the passenger door. He quickly worked to get you unbuckled and then he picked you up, you threw your arms around him out of habit and buried your head into his neck. The moment your head touched his skin he knew how sick you were. You were warm despite having the ac blowing in the truck. As he situated you in his arms, he shut the door and locked it and started to head to the building.
“Good afternoon, Jay. I see you have a sleepy one.” Mrs. Mueller Quell, your elderly neighbor, and Jay smiled and nodded.
“Yea, she's not feeling good at the moment. Going to get her settled.” He said and she smiled and nodded.
“You should make her your famous chicken noodle soup. I know me and Grant love it.” She said
“I just might do that. We'll see you later.” He said and she smiled.
“If you need anything let us know. We've taken care of a few sick kids.” She said as she began to walk away to the mailroom.
“I will be.” He said as he got onto the elevator and pressed the button for the correct floor. He was amazed that you had slept through that interaction. As the elevator went up and eventually dinged, he walked out. In just a few quick long strides he was arriving at the door. He skillfully got his key out and unlocked it making sure to quietly shut it as he walked in. He sat your bag down and kicked off his shoes. He walked over to the couch and gently set you down but you had a grip on him like no other and he chuckled. He gently pried your grip apart and then laid you down, took your shoes off, then covered you up with a light thin blanket. He went into the kitchen to grab the children's Tylenol and pulled up the right dose and walked back into the living room. He hated to wake you up but he needed you to take it. “Baby Girl, can you wake up and take this for me? I promise you can go back to sleep.” He said as you opened your eyes and took the medicine and went directly back to sleep. He walked into the kitchen and put the now dirty cup in the sink. He then went to your backpack and there he sat your shoes down. He picked up your backpack and set it on the table and started to unpack it. At first it was all normal and he saw all the work that was sent home but everything was done and he smiled. You always finished your homework early; he had asked why and you responded casually saying that if you got it done early you could have more play time. He was shocked but he understood it and it was actually smart. As he was going through your backpack his phone started to ring. The shrill of the ringer was loud and he was quick to take it out of his pocket and answer it without looking at it just to get it to stop ringing and not wake you up.
“Detective Jay Halstead.” He said quickly.
“Well hello Detective Jay Halstead.” Hailey’s voice came through with a chuckle.
“Sorry, Hails. I didn't look at my phone. What's up?” He asked
“I just wanted to see if you and Y/N wanted to go out to a movie and ice cream.” She said and he smiled at that and looked over at you still sleeping. He began seeing Hailey when you were 9 years old and had just turned 10 years old. She was making the effort to connect with you and it was working.
“We're going to have to take a rain check on that. She's not feeling all that great. Didn't even practice at softball.” He said
“Oh man she must be bad off. That's not like her. She loves the sport.” She said and he smiled loving the thought that she actually paid attention to your interests.
“Yeah, she does.” He said, chuckling.
“I could pick some stuff up and come over.” She offered
“I would like that and she would too. She's asleep right now.” He said
“Anything specific you need?” She asked
“I think I'm out of children's Tylenol, just gave her the last dose, and cold medicine, do you mind getting that?” He asked
“Not at all! I'll be over there soon.” She said
“Thank you.” Jay said
“Anything for my boyfriend and his lovely daughter.” She replied and he smiled and chuckled and then they were both hanging up the phone.
When Jay got your lunch box, he pulled it out and opened and was shocked that there was most of your lunch still left. You love your food and would take any chance to eat it. All this just told him how sick you were. “Oh, Baby Girl.” He said, sighing. He got all of the stuff out and put the items that needed to be refrigerated in the fridge.
“Daddy?” You asked sitting up and he was over to you in a matter of seconds bending down in front of you.
“Hey, Baby Girl. What's wrong?” He asked and you looked at him. Your eyes weren't as bright as they usually are and you overall just didn't look great.
“I'm hungry.” You said and he smiled and ran a hand through your sweat soaked hair.
“Do you want some soup and crackers?” He asked and you nodded.
“Please.” You said and he smiled and nodded. He had taught you to be polite from a young age. Before he left, he grabbed the remote and handed it to you. You turned it on and turned on Disney+ and turned on Wizards of Waverly Place. You settled in as Jay went to the kitchen to see what soup he had on hand in the meantime. He grabbed the saltine crackers and then some canned chicken and noodle soup. He would have to go to the grocery later, he would've had Hailey pick it up but there was more he needed to get and he didn't want her to pay for his groceries. He quickly got to work on getting your food ready and when it was, he brought it into the living room and you sluggishly sat up and he could see this. He sat down and then gave it to you. You instantly cuddled into his side.
“Careful it's hot.” He said and you nodded and then started to eat. You ate about half of it and 3 crackers before you were handing it back to him and he was sitting it on the coffee table in front of you, you snuggled into him and he instantly cuddled you. As he sat there with you, he could hear now that you had become congested, he brought a hand to your forehead and frowned you were warmer than you were when he got you out of the truck. “You really don’t feel good do you, Baby Girl?” He asked as you snuggled into him more.
“No.” You said in a quiet voice and his heart broke. He kissed the top of your head.
“Hailey is on her way over with some medicine.” He said and you nodded but continued to snuggle into your father. It wasn’t 2 minutes later that there was a knock on the door and he was getting up to answer it but not without you whimpering out for him. “I’ll be right back. I promise. Hailey is here.” He said and you nodded and you let him get up but as he stood up and second later you were standing up and tucking yourself into his side.
“I don’t want to leave you.” You whined, tears welling up in your eyes and threatening to spill and a sniffle from you being sick and the tears.
“Ok ok you don’t have to.” He said as he picked you up and walked towards the door. You snuggled into him and wrapped your arms around his neck and legs locked around his waist. Yup you were definitely sick you were being super clingy. He got to the door and unlocked it then opened it and there stood his girlfriend/partner with bags of medicine and a cup holder filled with three drinks, milkshakes to be exact.
“Hey you two.” Hailey said and Jay smiled but you had already fallen asleep.
“Hey.” Jay said and leaned in to kiss her and she ran a hand through your hair. “I think she is asleep.” He said chuckling and she nodded in agreement.
“Well, she can have her milkshake later. I thought something cold would be nice.” Hailey said and Jay smiled as he led her in.
“You didn’t have to do that.” He said
“I wanted to. I love her like she is my own.” Hailey said having not seen his face since her back was turned to him as she put things away and your milkshake in the freezer. His face was one of love and appreciation.
“I can’t even begin on how to thank you.” Jay said and she shook her head.
“No need.” She replied as she turned around to look at Jay holding you and she practically melted right then and there.
“I’m going to try and go put her down. Then I will be right back out.” He said and she smiled and nodded.
“Take your time.” She said and he nodded and turned heading to your room. Jay walked down the hallway into your room he walked you to your bed and started to gently lay you down and you whimpered.
“No.” You whined as he laid you down and sat on the side of the bed.
“You’ll be much more comfortable here than on me. I promise. I’ll be in the living room with Hailey so I’ll be able to hear you if you call. Ok?” He asked and you looked at him tiredly and nodded.
“Ok. Tell her I said hi.” You said and it ended with a cough and he smiled as he ran a hand through your hair.
“I will. Now get some rest.” He said leaning up and kissing you on your sweaty hot forehead.
“Ok.” You whispered as your eyes closed and you were out like a light. He tucked you in and gave you your favorite stuffed animal and headed out of your room making sure to crack the door slightly. He looked at you one more time and then he was walking back to the living room.
“How is she?” Hailey asked
“She’s warmer than normal and she coughed which was new. She ate about half of her soup and 3 crackers before she was putting it down and snuggling into me before you got here.” Jay said
“What do you think it could be?” She asked and he shrugged.
“It could be anything. There has been some sickness going around her class but honestly don’t know.” Jay said as he grabbed your half-eaten soup and package of crackers into the kitchen. He put the bowl in the sink and the crackers back in the cabinet then he walked back into the living room, Hailey handed him his milkshake “Thank you.” He said and sat down and turned on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a cop show that they were watching together. Jay slung an arm over shoulders and pulled her into him and they drank their milkshakes. They loved to comment on everything but it was mostly a show they didn’t have to really think about but with them both being detectives they ran the cases that were showing on the TV. They probably got about 3 hours into it, it was 8 PM, before you started to cough more and more and that concerned him. He had decided that he wouldn’t be going into work tomorrow and had let Voight know beforehand and he gave his approval saying family came first. “I’m going to check on her.” He said as he paused the show and Hailey nodded and sat up for him to go to your room. As he was walking to your room you started to cough more and more. He walked into the room and you were still sound asleep but coughing a really deep cough. He walked over and sat down on your bed and rubbed you back as you were turned onto your stomach. “Baby Girl.” He said and started to wake you up and all he got was a cough that he could feel wracking your body. “Hey, wake up.” He said as he started to pick you up and you snuggled into him.
“Daddy?” You asked followed by a cough.
“Yea, it's me. Hey, do you want to come into the living room with us? You coughing is worrying me.” He said and you looked at him and your eyes weren’t as bright as they were when you weren’t sick.
“Please.” You said and she smiled and got up and went into the kitchen to grab the milkshake. She put it in the microwave to soften it slightly and then walked back into the living room and handed it to you as she sat down. You took it but you were shaking and that concerned them both. Whatever you had zapped the energy out of you. “Thank you.” You said and took a sip of it and she smiled.
“Yea.” You said followed by a cough and he nodded and then he picked you up and took you into the living room. He was quick to dim the lights until it was semi-dark and Hailey was already making a spot for you between them. “Hi.” You said when you spotted her but it wasn’t as energized as before.
“Hi Sweetie.” She said with a smile as Jay sat down then he disappeared to grab more children’s Tylenol and come back in. He sat down on the other side of you and you somehow ended up more on him. “I heard you weren’t feeling good.” She said and ran a hand through your hair and you nodded snuggling more into your father and she smiled “I brought you a milkshake. Do you want it?” She asked and you looked up at your dad and he looked down at you and you nodded. You looked over at her and she could see the nonexistent light.
“You’re welcome, Sweetie.” She said
“Here, take this and wash it down with the milkshake.” Jay said and you nodded and said what you were told. Then they were turning their attention back to the TV as Jay pressed play. You watched it but didn’t pay any attention to it, not even finishing your milkshake. You were falling back to sleep and he was taking the cup out of your hands and putting it on the side table.
“She only drank half of it. She’s definitely not feeling well.” Jay said as you let out a cough.
“I hope she feels better soon. I hate seeing her like this.” Hailey said and Jay nodded.
“Me too.” He said
Around an hour later Jay was putting you back into your bed and he was bye to Hailey and he was heading off to get ready for bed and when they were done, they slid in and fell into a somewhat peaceful sleep. You coughed and coughed throughout the night and it seemed like it got worse when you were laying down. Jay being your parent had parent ears on all the time and they never turned off so when you stopped coughing during the night he was instantly awake and sitting up. He walked into the room and he was instantly kneeling by your bedside and he could see you breathing and he sighed but he wanted to wake you up just in case. “Y/N. Baby Girl. Can you wake up for me?” He asked as he petted your hair and you let out a cough and slowly cracked your eyes as best as you could but they were almost like caked shut and he could see that. “Oh, Baby Girl.” He said as he started to take the goop away from your eyes. As you started coughing again you started wheezing and that brought a new worry to your father that was new. It was time to call Will. “Come here.” He said picking you up and taking you into his bedroom and laid you down on his bed while he picked up his phone and unlocked it and pulled up his brother’s contact information and pressing call.
“I’m sorry for waking you up but no everything isn’t ok. Y/N is sick and at first, I could handle it but then she started coughing and just a little bit ago she stopped and now her eyes are filled with goop and she is wheezing.” Jay explained keeping watch over as you slept and wheezed.
“Jay? It’s 4 in the morning. Everything ok?” Will asked, voice full asleep.
“Has she been running a temperature?” Will asked
“She didn’t even practice?” Will asked
“She’s been running hot ever since I picked her up from softball practice where she was lying on the bench.” Jay said
“No, she was pale and sweaty and red in the face.” He replied
“Oh, damn she must be really sick. Go get a thermometer and take her temperature and tell me what it is.” Will said and Jay did just that. “Have you given her any medication?” He asked.
“No, not recently.” Jay said as he walked into this bathroom to retrieve one of many thermometers. “She had a dose of children's Tylenol when we got home and then at 8 PM.” Jay said as he grabbed it and then walked back into the bedroom. “Alright, I'm taking her temperature now.” He said and put it in your ear and you didn't move you were so sick you didn't even care.
“Has she thrown up any?” Will asked, already getting out of bed and getting ready to head over to the other Halstead household.
“No.” Jay said as the thermometer beeped. “102.2.” He read it out loud.
“It should've gone down with the children's Tylenol.” Will said, worrying about his one and only niece. “Let me hear her.” He said and Jay put the phone on speaker and put it next to you. You coughed and started to wheeze and Will sighed. “Let me grab some stuff from the hospital and I'll be right over.” Will said.
“Ok.” Jay said “We'll see you soon.” He said and then they both were hanging up the phone. Jay was worried and now Will was worried. He hated waking his brother up after he worked a 24-hr. shift but he didn't know what to do. Jay laid down next to you and shut his eyes.
30 minutes went by and he was jerking awake by a knock on the door and he was making sure you were breathing before he got up. He was surprised you didn’t wake up to the knock because you were such a light sleeper much like him. You coughed and were still wheezing and that broke his heart. He was quick to get to the door and open it to reveal his brother. “Hey, how is she?” Will asked as he walked in and Jay closed the door.
“Still wheezing and coughing.” He said as he led Will to his bedroom.
“Has she had anything to eat?” His brother asked and he nodded.
“Half a bowl of soup, 3 crackers, and half a milkshake.” Jay replied
“Normally she would eat everything. She has a fast metabolism.” Will said as they walked into the bedroom and you were in the middle of bed.
“That’s what I’m worried about. What did you have to get?” Jay asked
“I went and got a nebulizer with some medicine that will help with the wheezing and hopefully it’ll help with the cough as well.” He said
“What do we do about the coughing?” Jay asked as he stood arms crossed watching you and Will was looking at him.
“You need to be careful not to suppress a productive cough too much, unless it's keeping her from getting enough rest. Coughing can be useful, it can help clear the throat and airway of germs, mucus and dust. If it doesn't go away or comes with other symptoms like shortness of breath, mucus production or bloody phlegm then that could be the sign of a more serious medical problem and would need to be addressed.” Will said giving out medical information easily and keeping it to where Jay could understand it. Jay nodded glad to have a doctor for a brother.
“What should we do first?” Jay asked
“I wanna assess her and then go from there and that means unfortunately waking her up.” Will said and Jay said and nodded and went and sat down on the bed and began to wake you up. When you were awake and looked at him confused you then spotted Will and gave him a weak smile and he sadly smiled back at you. He could tell right away that you didn’t feel good. He approached you and sat on the other side of the bed. “Hey, Kiddo. I heard you weren’t feeling good.” He said in a sympathetic voice he used for his younger patients. You shook your head and cuddled into your father.
“Yea.” You said in a quiet voice and that wasn’t like you. You then coughed and coughed until you started gagging. Will was quick to grab the empty trash can by the nightstand and thrust it under just in time for you to expel everything in your stomach, which wasn’t much. Jay held your hair and rubbed your back.
“It’s ok, Baby Girl. Let it all out.” He said and once you were dry heaving you practically collapsed into your father exhausted. “That was new.” Jay said and Will sighed he hated seeing you in such a state, you were naturally a strong-willed girl much like your father and to see you dwindle down to nothing saddens him.
“I’m going to listen to you and take a couple of vitals. You don’t have to move from Jay, ok?” He asked
“Ok.” You said in a now hoarse voice. Having no energy you just sat there while Will checked you over, you actually started to fall asleep.
“Is she asleep?” Will asked and Jay looked down at you and your eyes were closed and head resting on his chest.
“She’s asleep.” Jay said, looking back up at his brother.
“She’s really is sick.” Will said and Jay nodded. “I want to get a dose of medicine from the nebulizer in her and I want her to be awake for that but if she falls asleep during it then it should be fine.” Will added and Jay nodded and once again he was waking you up and he felt so bad about it. When you were awake Will explained what the machine was and what it does and he could tell that you were listening but not fully there but enough to understand. He hooked the machine up and put the medicine in and then handed the piece to Jay who put it over your nose and mouth. At first you protested but when you started to feel better and not wheezing you embraced it and leaned into your father and started to fall asleep the brothers talked about whatever came to their mind mostly the recent Jayhawks game. Once the medicine was done, Jay, not having the heart to move you back to your room, tucked you into his bed and then the brothers were heading into the living room.
“How long do you think it’ll be before she gets better?” Jay asked
“I’m thinking and hoping in a couple days but it may take a week or two.” Will said and Jay sighed but nodded. Jay looked at his watch and saw that it was 5 AM. He looked up at his brother.
“I can either make us some coffee or we can try to get some sleep. Guest room is free.” Jay said
“I’m gonna get some sleep and I suggest you do the same.” Will said and Jay smiled.
“You’re the doctor, you know what is best.” Jay said a smile turning into a smirk and Will rolled his eyes but smiled. As they headed for the rooms Jay’s phone pinged and he looked at it. “Her school has been closed due to so many kids sick.” Jay said and Will nodded.
“That’s what needed to happen when all of this started.” Will said and Jay nodded in agreement. They walked into the rooms and Jay got into bed and somehow you sensed he was there because you were cuddling into him. He smiled and cuddled you kissing your head as he was doing so, he noticed that you weren’t wheezing anymore and the coughing had died down. Once he knew you were ok, he let himself relax and eyes closed and he actually fell asleep.
The next morning Jay was waking up and he was expecting you to be next to him but you weren’t and that made him confused until he heard the laughing coming from the kitchen and followed by your cough. He slowly got out of the bed and walked into the kitchen to find you and Will up to now good. “Good morning, Daddy.” You said in a hoarse voice when you spotted him and that made Will look over in his direction.
“Good morning.” Will greeted
“How are you feeling?” Jay asked and you shrugged. He could see your eyes were not as bright.
“Not great but not worse.” You said and coughed deeply and Jay was rushing over to you rubbing your back. After you were done you took a deep breath and nodded.
“You ok?” He asked and you nodded.
“I’m ok.” You said “We decided to make breakfast.” You said and he smiled and kissed your head.
“You’re actually trusting Uncle Will with the kitchen?” Jay joked
“Hey! I can cook.” Will defended
“No, that’s why I’m supervising.” You said throwing a signature Halstead smirk.
“Oh lord, good thing we have Firehouse 51 on speed dial.” Jay said and everyone laughed. The morning was filled with laughter and joking and eating and every now and then your coughs. By the afternoon you were in the middle of them passed out on the couch as they watched a random hockey game. By the end of the day Will had gone back home but he made Jay promise to keep him updated and he stuck to his promise. Throughout the next week you were getting stronger and light was coming back to your eyes. The coughing had subsided. Your school opened back up and Jay went back to work. You were actually able to get through a softball practice.
By week 3 you were back to normal. Your eyes were bright, you were eating like your normal self, and you were energized again. Everyone was currently at your softball game and of course you were winning. “She’s back to her normal self, I see.” Will said and Jay nodded.
“Yeah she is. I’m so glad about it too.” He replied
“She even had me worried.” Hailey said “I never have to worry about her, she is too much like her daddy that she doesn’t need to be worried about.” She added and everyone nodded in agreement. The crowd erupted in a cheer and they looked up in time for you to slide and steal home base to win the game. Everyone cheered and crowded around you. Once everyone cleared out and you grabbed your stuff you walked over to your dad, uncle, and Hailey.
“Great job, Kiddo!” Will said and brought you in for a tight hug.
“Thank you, Uncle Will.” You said and hugged him back.
“You did an amazing job, Baby Girl.” Jay said and hugged you after you got done with Will.
“You were amazing out there. I’m so glad you’re back to your normal self.” She said running a hand over her head and you smiled and looked up from your position from hugging your father and smiled at her.
“Thank you.” You said and then you snuggled into your father’s side and looked at Will. “Thank you for being Dr. Uncle Will.” You said and he smiled.
“Anytime, Kiddo. I hate seeing you so down.” He said
“We all do.” Jay said
You hated being sick and being down for so long. You hated not being up and doing something and you got that from your dad honestly. Hopefully you wouldn’t be getting that sick again but you never know what life would throw your way. Next time could be just a 24-hr. bug or it could put you in the hospital, you just never know.

Firsts with Kalim Al-Asim💛🤍💛
Fem!reader
tags: fluff, dating
First time seeing each other:
You both had previously only caught glimpses of each other in halls during passing period. It was brief, enough take in some of the noticeable features of the boy. His doe eyes, a wonderful smile always upon his face, that disheveled soft look about his white hair. You also had a few classes with Kalim, but didn't talk to each other as you really only were well acquainted with Deuce and Ace at the beginning of your stay in NRC. Besides, he was always with an intimidating Jamil who seemed to stare daggers at anyone who looked at Kalim for more than eight seconds. When you both were finally paired in a class project, you felt your heart flutter with joy. Excited to finally interact with him up close, you quickly went to sit next to him in class to talk. "Y/N. What a unique name! I like it! You must come over to join us for dinner!" "To discuss the project." Jamil interrupts. "Yes, of course, to also discuss the project... I know we will make the best presentation!" His voice was like a happy song. With Kalim you felt so warm, hopeful, giddy. Can I always be with him?
First time developing feelings:
It wasn't surprising that you fell for the housewarden. He was so kind and thoughtful, perfectly radiant like the sun. When he'd call your name you'd practically turn into a puddle. "Y/N! I'm so glad we can study together." "Y/N, you look a bit tired... have you drank enough water today? Did you eat yet? Let me get you something, anything you like." He would come back with an entire vending machines worth of your favorite food and drink. "Please take care of yourself!" "Y/N, I asked Jamil to make your favorite lunch today, please, come sit with us!" When you would stay at Scarabia he would dote on you constantly. "Y/N, do you need extra pillows? Is the room to your liking?" Kalim would give you the biggest room they had— with its own indoor pool. "We have all kinds of breathable clothing imported from back at home. It's great for this sort of weather. Please take whichever piece you like!" He'd show you fine silken dresses, pants, scarves, all with vibrant colors and intricate patterns. He'd knock on your door at night while everyone would be sleeping. "Y/N" you would hear a whisper. "Jamil doesn't know I'm here, so please don't say anything. I thought we could share a midnight snack together." Kalim would bring small cookies and cakes so you could sit and eat together under the peaceful moon. Of course, the housewarden never noticed himself falling for you. It just became second nature to care and protect you. It wasn't until one day that he saw you talking with another student that it struck him. It struck him hard. He tried wrapping his arm around you. You looked so worried— and then it all happened in an instant. "Don't touch her!" All you saw was a flash of Kalim pushing the student aside, an expression upon his face you'd never imagined he could have. He never thought he could act this way, either, until the pang in his chest from seeing you being taken advantage of hit his head and everything clicked. I think I'm in love. Jamil couldn't help but grin from afar observing the situation. "Finally realized."
First time confessing:
Kalim had invited you that evening for dinner. But it felt different. Something about his voice, his words, his interaction just didn't feel like the boy you knew before. "Y/N, I'd like to invite you for dinner tonight. I hope you'll join me." There was an air of mystery, a charm in his eyes and he sounded so calm— a voice as smooth as sand. You slowly nodded, intrigued by this new Kalim. Since the occasion felt special you decided to dress more formally for that day. What better outfit than a wonderfully fitting dress Kalim had given you from the Scalding Sands that featured intricate beadwork and design. When you arrived the scent of sweet incense and aromatic spices hit your nose. You saw an endless sea of dishes put out in front of you, everything from sugared fruits to steaming kebabs. You nearly held your breath from the shock. Every candle was lit, tapestries decorated the room around you, and best of all was Kalim who sat there adorned in an equally beautiful outfit detailed with gold. Even the makeup which outlined his eyes was lined in a deeper, more seductive red. You sheepishly walked over to join him on the cushioned ground. "Kalim- I-" he spoke before you could finish, giving away to the nervous weight that laid on his chest. "This is all for you, Y/N, so please enjoy yourself. We'll eat and dance the night away— whatever you like." He grabbed your hand, holding it tightly. "Let me be with you, like this. I want to share these moments, good and bad, with you. Will you let me?" The smile you had fallen in love with so long ago shaped his lips. The first thing you had ever seen on Kalim, the first thing you ever noticed. "Of course. Always." It nearly felt like tears formed at the corners of your eyes. That night you did everything he said. You ate and drank and danced your fill all the way till sunrise where you finally relented and bid the prince goodnight, retiring to your Scarabian room.
Bonus: Kalim walked you over to his treasure room after finishing a dance, opening the door to show you inside. "Y/N, do you like anything you see? You can have it!" You blinked for a few moments, eyes blinded by the light reflecting off the gold and precious stones. You couldn't help but nervously laugh. I think there's enough riches here to last a few lifetimes. "Kalim... I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm good. If anything, let's leave before I break something!" You grabbed his arm to walk out and shut the door. "What if something is cursed in there?" "We've had Jamil check all the treasure already!"
First date:
Kalim wasn't done wooing you, not by a long shot. He was excited to show you a new side of him. Yes, he was still your innocent prince, but he could be a gentleman, too. You'd think he picked up a thing or two from the King courting so many ladies he saw growing up. But the first date wasn't something you'd expect. You thought maybe another dinner or walk along the park, sure, but he had actually planned something way more fun. What better way to cool off than a pool party for two? He had invited you during the day this time. Now you understand why he asked you to bring a swimsuit. "Oasis maker!" You both splashed and swam around for hours in a giant pool with a slide and fountains surrounding it. Were there also water guns? Absolutely. Water balloons? Yes. "Y/N? Y/N... Y/N!" Kalim frantically looked around, seeing you nowhere in the pool, seemingly disappeared under water. He began to worry before you suddenly grabbed him by the ankle and pulled him down with you. "Got ya!" You two laughed while continuing water tag. It was the most fun you had since arriving to NRC, to say the least. The day ended with your favorite foods for dinner and a warm bath with special salts and oils Kalim had asked to be brought from his home that was good for the skin.
First time holding hands:
It was the end of the day as you two were walking home from class, discussing topics on magic and such when Kalim bumped into you by accident while a student ran past him. The both of your hands brushed against each other from the movement, which elicited a faint blush against his cheeks. He immediately apologized and asked if you were okay, but something else was on your mind. "I'm alright, really. It's okay." You decided to go for it and grabbed his hand, interlocking your fingers together. "But I like this better." You smiled at him; Kalim gulped, blood rushing to his head. He'd never held hands with someone— he'd never actually even been romantic until meeting you. You felt him move his fingers a bit, feeling your skin to make sure the girl before him was real. Her skin is so soft. Her hands are so delicate... she's so wonderful, everything about her. You felt him tighten his hold more confidently while you both continued to walk. "You make me so happy, Y/N." Now you were the one blushing. The cute moments between you two were never-ending. From that moment on Kalim would get more comfortable with holding your hand, eventually doing it regularly every time you two walked together, proudly showing off his one-and-only.
First kiss:
You and Kalim were watching the sunset together at his dorm after having finished studying together. Something about seeing the pink skies meet at the horizon with dunes of sand that went on forever was a breathtaking sight. You leaned your head on his shoulder, placing your hand on top of his. It was just you two, a calm silence enveloping you both with the occasional sound of sand being swept by the wind. "Kalim, this view never ceases to amaze me." You felt your eyes close for a moment to try and mentally recreate the landscape so you could remember it forever. "You're right. Back at home, the skies are even clearer and brighter, it's more beautiful believe it or not. If you look from outside the city, you see the palace outline the sky. At night, colored lights and song illuminate the city." As he describes the Scalding Sands you feel more joy fill your heart before he pauses. You look up to see why he stopped, only to realize Kalim is looking back at you. "But none of that compares to you." Kalim's eyes are so tender, his little smile on his face, cheeks a rosy red again. Before you can think the proximity of both of your faces makes you lean in to kiss him. If you didn't think his face could get any redder, think again. While there's practically fumes coming out his ears, he releases for a second to compose himself before going in to kiss you again. Your lips aren't like anything he could have ever imagined before. So soft, sweet. It's nearly addicting to him. Only after you release this time do you realize how flustered he gets again, looking away shyly, looking back again, looking away, apologizing.
First time cuddling:
There was a separate lounge area that was meant for only Kalim. You and him would spend most of your time together there. On a particularly chilly night as you two had stayed up together talking, you decided to get closer to your boyfriend for some warmth. Pillows and blankets surrounded you, but something about leaning against him just felt better. Kalim wrapped his arm around you, pulling you in closer. "If you're cold we can go inside. I can have some tea be prepared." "No, it's alright, really. I like it this way." You snuggled closer. Closer... closer... a little more— now you're right where you want to be. It's warmest like this anyways, laying on top of his chest. You can hear his heart fluttering rapidly at the proximity of you two. He eventually relaxed a bit, leaning his chin on your head to hug you with both arms this time. While you decided to tiredly continue your conversation, before you knew it you had dozed off into sleep. Kalim grabbed a nearby blanket to cover you, while the warmth of your own body had him dozing off before he realized it, too. You both soundly slept together, cuddled up under the wall in a corner where you two stayed until morning. Kalim was the first to wake up, realizing he had slept in his lounge with you, but didn't make a sound to let you continue sleeping on top of him. How could he wake you when you looked so cute? Kalim ran his fingers through your hair, admiring you, fixing the blanket whenever you would move, watching your chest rise and fall with your breath. He didn't care if his back was numb, it was worth it if it meant seeing his princess like this.
First carpet ride:
"If you get scared, just tell me! Hold on, Y/N!" He lifted off the ground slowly before picking up some speed. "We're flying! kalim this is unbelievable!" You looked in awe at the blue skies and puffs of clouds that you both were directly under. Kalim made sure to keep the pace slow and steady for you, but enough to feel the wind glide against your face. You held him tighter, afraid at first, but eventually relaxed to release your arms and raise them high to feel the cool, crisp air. You saw flocks of birds, the rays of sun hitting against the sand below, tiny oasis's, the dorm. It felt ethereal. "Are you ready?" Kalim looked back at you before you quickly held onto him again. "For wha- aaaaahh!" You both suddenly dived nearly reaching the ground before flying back up again even higher. You gasped feeling air fill your lungs, yelling in excitement and fear. He went through clouds this time, doing a few tricks by turning in circles. You'd never experienced thrill like this, it was exfiltrating. When he finally turned to go back to the dorm he went at relaxing pace to let you enjoy the view one last time. "Can we stay up here?" You held your lover close while admiring the endless blue. "We can come up as often as you would like, how about that?" "Thank you." You leaned in to give your boyfriend a kiss.
First time visiting his home:
A merchant approached you, a man who's head was wrapped in a white turban. "My dear, have a look. See, this jewel is one of a kind! How about this vase? I have just the thing! This is a magic lamp." Kalim kindly shook his head, pulling you closer by the hand. "No thank you, sir, really, we don't need it. Sorry!" He hurried along down the bazar. He had disguised himself as a regular civilian; Kalim never really snuck out in the past, if he needed to go somewhere he simply went with Jamil, but since meeting you he wants to save these special moments for only him and his lover. Of course, Jamil didn't know about this as you had sneaked away from him while you travelled to the Scalding Sands for the weekend. You tried taking in all the sights while walking down the packed streets. Stalls were lined up full of foods, fruits, textiles, pottery, jewelry, anything and everything. The smell of spices, hot, dry air and cacophony of noises created a lively environment. People bustled along, street performers sang of old legends, camels stood with crates of good on their backs. You both then walked into a more secluded alleyway beneath the stone walls. "Kali- I mean... what was your name again?" You whispered. Kalim laughed, looking down the road again to decide on where you'd go next. "Never mind that. Come on, let's go to the palace before Jamil hypnotizes me and you and forces us to stay in our rooms for the whole stay!" You and Kalim then hurried along. "Wait till you see the palace! And meet my siblings! We can come back out at night to see the fireworks." All of this was so great, it was a whole new world for you. When you arrived at the palace gates Kalim took off his head scarf so they'd quickly let him in. Naturally he got an ear full from Jamil for leaving, but he was quickly interrupted by the waves of family that poured in to greet Kalim and his partner. You were nervous at first, but the warmth and hospitality of the Asim's made you realize where Kalim got his kindness from. You were immediately welcomed by everyone and spent the night being showered in gifts, with great feasting and celebrating. Once you and your partner were alone again he took the opportunity to lead you to the highest point in the palace, a tower where you could see the whole of the Scalding Sands. The view was more than just breath-taking, It was other-worldly. you looked at Kalim lovingly, wondering how you could ever meet such a perfect person. "I love you." You leaned in to give him a kiss. Kalim pulled you in by the waist before his promised fireworks started, illuminating the night sky.
"Hey, I wonder if that magic lamp was real?" "Let's go find out!"

Tipsy Nights
Sugar mama Lin Beifong x sugar baby reader
Summary: feelings are all over the place because Linny is stressing you out (mentions of alcohol and semi flirting)
When I woke up the next morning there was no sight of Linny or any smell of food. I brushed my teeth then went to the kitchen. I don’t even know why I came out here so I just decided to go lay back in bed. I started crying all over again. I thought we were doing just fine! What did I do? What made her so upset? I’m trying to be patient but it’s so hard. I ended up falling asleep and only woke up to the sound of the phone ringing. I sighed then answered it. “Hello.” I said. “Hey.” Lin said. “Hi honey.” I said. “I was calling just to say you don’t need to bring me lunch today.” Lin said. “Are we going to a restaurant again?” I asked her.
“No.” Lin said. “Then why don’t you need lunch?” I asked. “I'm busy.” Lin said. “You need to eat.” I told her. “I’ll be fine and I won’t be back for dinner either.” Lin said. “Do you want me to bring you dinner?” I asked. “No.” Lin said. I just hung up then grabbed my pillow and put it over my face. “Ahhhh!” I screamed into the pillow. She’s so stubborn. “What did I do?” I asked myself as I sobbed all over again. I cried until my head hurt. I had to get out of bed and make myself some tea. I drank my green tea while ordering something to eat. I refused to cook.
I tried to keep myself distracted by cleaning and other things but soon I ran out of things to do so I decided to go out and go to the spa. I decided to do the biggest package they had which included drinks, hot rocks, mud bath, full body massage, manicure and pedicures and a facial with all the best quality products. It felt so nice to be pampered like this. I deserve it. “Your eyes are very puffy.” One lady told me as she worked on my face. “You’ve been crying haven’t you?” The lady who was massaging my feet asked.
“I have, I’ve had a long day and night.” I told them. “What happened?” I explained everything and even what my friends had said about the situation. “If she can’t communicate with you then you need to leave.” “Agreed it’s doing you more harm than good.” “But I care about her.” I said. “But does she care about you? All you asked her to do was put cute stuffed animals on her desk. You weren’t asking for a kidney.” “I know I know but she’s just rough around the edges.” I told them. “Oh honey please. She’s got you crying and then basically told you don’t even come to her job to eat with her.” I sighed.
After my spa day I know a hefty amount of Lin’s money was spent on that but I don’t care. When dinner time came I got dressed up then took myself out to eat. I don’t care. I was not going to sit here and be sad! I got seated and ordered as much food as I knew I could eat. When I got my appetizers I ate them then drank the water I ordered after I finished I got up and went to the bar. I ordered a few shots and tossed them back like water. “What’s a pretty thing like you doing all alone?” I turned my head to the left and saw this tall guy with brown hair. “Not interested.” I said. “Come on, pretty girl give me a chance.” He said.
“I rather drink bleach.” I said. I was being harsh but I don’t care. “Ma’am your food is ready.” A waiter said to me, I nodded my head then ordered another shot of cactus juice then went back to my table after I finished it. I sat down and ate my food in peace. I didn’t think about Lin, I just enjoyed my food. Everything tasted amazing. “Here is your drink ma’am.” The waiter said and placed down a wine glass. “I didn’t order this.” I said. “From the gentleman at the bar.” He said then walked away. I looked towards the bar and the brown hair guy raised his glass to me.
Geez can’t people take no. I don’t care how cute he is. I’m in a committed…no I’m not. I’m not in a relationship! I’m technically single! I grabbed the wine glass then raised it. He smiled and I smiled back. I drank my wine then went back to eating. After I finished eating I got my boxes together since I didn’t eat everything. I got the check then paid again with Lin’s card. Then after I got a car service as I was waiting outside the guy came out. “You need a ride home, pretty girl?” He asked. “No thank you.” I said. “You are very beautiful and I would love to get to know you.” He said. “Thank you and I’m sorry baby I don’t wanna get to know you.” I said.
The car pulled up and I walked towards it. “Let me get this for you.” He said and opened the car door. “You’re very cute but honey I’m not that interested in men.” I said and got into the car. “I understand beautiful.” He said and closed the door. I shook my head. When I got home I took my shoes off and giggled as I leaned over. I’m a little tipsy. I put my food away then went to the room.

{~I'm very serious with you guys interacting with my writing!!!! it would make me so happy & excited, the more comments & reposts the more inspiration i have to write :) likes and comments are strongly appreciated so please COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMEENNTTT the more comments the more content <3!!!~}
It was officially summer break, Kinsley would often sleep over at Delilahs or help out with the shop, Today on the other hand it was scorching hot, it was usually warm in California but it was warmer than usual, Delilah had the AC blasting & the door wide open which gave her the Privilege of hearing the ocean waves crash into each other, Kinsley sat behind the register braiding her hair while Lilah groaned and sat next to her while Cody walked into the shop “Well aren’t you two just a ball of joy.” Kinsley perked up and nudged Lilah while her head was on the counter “I feel like I’m in hell.” She mumbled before sitting up while Cody let out a light laugh & set down slushies in front of them “Got you two something cold to drink.” Lilah sighed in relief and took one “Your the best person ever.” Kinsley smiled and waved a little at Cody “Why don’t you two just go in the water, you’re across the beach anyways.” He asked before taking a sip of Lilahs slushie leaving her a bit bewildered.
“Because the store needs to be open. And I need to run it.” Cody rolled his eyes in a playful manner before patting her hand “Why don’t I get you guy’s something to eat and we close up the shop, it’s hot, first day of summer break and have s beach picnic and play in the water, I don’t need a pretty girl like you getting sick from heat stroke. That goes for you too missy.” He pointed at Kinsley who was busy staring at the colors of her drink “Co-“ he pointed his finger back at Delilah and tilted his head. “Fine..” he nodded approvingly at her response and walked off from the shop to get lunch for the sisters.
At least an hour later Lilah and Kinsley sat on a blanket right on the beach and Cody had just came back with some sort of food, they didn’t care they just wanted to eat. Cody sat down and handed them sandwiches and out of pure curiosity “Lilah have you ever drank?” She smiled tilting her head “Yeah, water” he shook his head “No like, Alcohol.” She shook her head “Nuh-Uh, Mom and dad always told me it would take me down the wrong path in life.” Kinsley furrowed her brows “But dad drinks beer, plus they already say you went downhill anyway..?” Cody chuckled shaking his head “Alcohol doesn’t take anyone down the right path in life unless you let it.” She hummed and nodded her head “I mean I guess I could try it one day but never beer.”
He smiled nodding “I would never imagine someone so petite and classy like you ever even go near a beer bottle.” She smiled before taking a bite of her food while Kinsley ran off to go play in the water, Cody scooted closer to Lilah while she stared at his neck “What’s the story behind that?” She questioned but never judged, all of the questions she had were out of kindness and curiosity, He liked that about her, he liked how genuine she was, she was humble, respectful and pure, he liked that she was actually personally interested in him as a person and not a celebrity, especially since she met him authentically and didn’t even recognize who he was. He came back to reality and knew she was talking about his neck tattoo and smiled “It’s just some logo for my wrestling thing, I promise you it was not supposed to be that big.” She smiled and traced her nail over it “I like it, A little big but I like it. I’ve always wanted a tattoo but my parents are against it.”
From what he gathered he noticed that her parents didn’t approve of many things despite her adulthood in life, they didn’t appreciate how she made a business by herself, or anything, they certainly wouldn’t approve of him by pure assumption of who he is. “Doll your a grown woman, you’re allowed to get whatever you want with your own money.” She shrugged “Most of my actions will have an impact on whether or not Kinsley will be allowed to see me, They’ll take her away from me like that.” He furrowed his brows shaking his head “That’s not right at all, in-fact it’s disgusting.” Lilah shrugged “It usually turns into an argument with them everytime I go to church with Kinsley.” He furrowed his brows and played with her hair “Take me to church with you, it’s tomorrow right? Sunday Mass? I’ll go with you.” She smiled at the offer and nodded her head “we’ll be here waiting then.”
🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷
The next morning Lilah wore a summer dress and helped Kinsley get ready for church, Kinsley hated going to church every sunday since she wanted to sleep in but her parents were strict and heavy on her attending Mass. The pair left the store & saw Cody walk up to them “It’s that one little church down the street right?” Lilah nodded with a smile “Yeah, we usually walk there.” And that they did, they talked, laughed and then quieted down when they arrived at the church where her parents awaited for their arrival & immediately they glared.
They attended mass & sat all together, Cody next to Lilah, Kinsley next to her parents. Cody listened thoroughly and followed along the process they were all doing over anything brought up in the bible, Cody ran his hand up Lilah’s thigh making her breath hitch & look at him with a flustered & shy expression and held onto her hand shaking her head. At the end of mass they all met outside & saw a very dissatisfied expression on her parents faces
Lilah & Kinsley’s father scoffed running a hand down his face “Are you serious right now Delilah? Your letting a man with a goddamn neck tattoo near your little sister?” Cody raised a brow “We’re in the modern day and we still judge people over tattoos? That’s quite childish and embarrassing honestly.” He nipped back at their father while their mom stepped forward “Lilah honey is this really who you see yourself living life with? We know who he is, he kicks people for a living.” Lilah frowned and fiddled with her fingers “Mama he’s ni-“ her father butted back in “He’s a goddamn man who dressed up as a galaxy atom for a living for Christ’s sake.” Kinsley glared
“His name was STAR DUST thank you!” Cody crouched to Kinsley “Sweetheart let the adults handle this okay?” Her father glared “Get the hell away from my child!” Lilah became overwhelmed “Can we please just get church over with this is embarrassing! We’re arguing infront of people & getting dirty looks.” Her mother scoffed grabbing Kinsley “We don’t want you or him here at lunch with us today, she’ll come back tomorrow. Have a nice evening Delilah” She frowned while Kinsley pushed her morher away and ran back to Cody & Lilah and hugged his leg “I wanna stay with them!” Their father scowled and straightened his coast “This is not what god would want for you Lilah, Your a screw up in life, seriously? You’re having this man hang around you & your little sister clearly being a bad influence, You were not supposed to live a life like a circus show, Your an utter failure.” She frowned shaking her head “You don’t know what God wanted for me in my life, I’m a grown woman Mama! You’re upset because neither of you can control me under your roof anymore.”
Her mother was frustrated and strutted off into the church’s parking lot with her father following along leaving the 3 standing there alone while Delilah felt a wave of overwhelming feelings and emotions and started tearing up which made Cody turn to her and hold her face in his hands “Don’t cry sweetheart, everything they say is untrue, You’re not a fuck up, your far from it, hell your doing better than me & I make a lot of money.” She sniffled while Kinsley frowned hugging her side while Cody wiped off any tears even if they kept coming “You did such a good job defending yourself ‘m so proud of you sweet girl.” He gave her a hug while she hiccuped and sniffled when her body started overflowing with guilt & just clung onto him like a koala “c’mon sweetheart let’s get you two back home and we can figure out what we can do with the rest of the day alright?” She nodded and held her little sisters hand before walking back home.
Lilah walked inside of the flower shop sighing and sitting down on the stool behind the register while Kinsley scampered upstairs to take a well deserved nap. “How are you feeling doll?” Cody hummed out standing next to her and running his hand up and down her back while she shrugged, she was easily overstimulated socially & sighed, her poor little brain was confused as to why she had feelings for him when she just met him, she was confused why her parents detested her & overall confused with what she was doing wrong.
“I’m fine just- overwhelmed.” She pouted out while Cody held her close and kissed the top of her head “You’ll be fine pretty girl, ‘jus need you to relax for a little bit and it’ll be as if today never happened.” She smiled and looked up at him before kissing his cheek which made him hum out and look at her “Your such a sweet little thing.” She smiled at him and hugged his arm “Your so nice to me.” He smiled at her muttered words and nodded before making her look at him “You have such a pretty face sweetheart.” Lilah was utterly confused with her emotions, half of the things she didn’t know were normal to be feeling. She felt tingling and aching inbetween her legs which made her thighs tighten up against each other and started tearing up letting out little whined and whimpers, which he very clearly noticed but acted like he didn’t on purpose. He gave her a kiss & pulled away “I’m gonna let you girls rest and visit tomorrow’kay?” She frowned nodding not knowing what to do with the things she was feeling.
🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸
By the next week Kinsley was on a road trip with her parents & it was already sunday, Cody & Lilah were at church by themselves this time without anyone going with them & he had no idea how to properly behave, Lilah was busy reading the bible along with what the priest was reading out & Cody was bored so he dipped his hand under her dress and toyed with her thighs for a bit which made her hitch her breath & look at him, he gave her a warning look to stay quiet so she complied like the good sweet girl she was but let out a quiet squeak when he fingers pushed her panties aside,
there was that feeling again, the feeling where she felt all wet & achey, she whimpered and leaned over towards Cody frowning while trying to be as quiet as possible to avoid drawing any attention “Cody I feel tingly..” he smiled and moved his middle finger around her clit which made her let out a soft gasp “I got it from here sweetheart just sit & look pretty okay?” And that she did, she let him to whatever he wanted, He would tease her over again by pushing a finger into her pussy and pulling it back out to tease her clit which made her tear up and bury her face in his arm until he permanently shoved his finger back into her pussy & started thrusting it in a quick motion while he held her jaw
“Don’t make a fucking sound am I understood?” She nodded her head while tears streamed down her face “M-My tum-tummy feels weird..!” He hummed and went faster “That means your so close princess, you gonna cum huh? Make a damn mess all over this fucking church hm?” She bit on his coat and clenched her thighs around his wrist while he kept fucking her overstimulated cunt with his finger before pulling it out and patting her clit which made her take a deep breath & start shaking.
Soon she noticed she felt relief & also felt cum leaking from her hole, Cody kissed the top of his head smiling in accomplishment before pushing her panties back in their proper place while kissing her cheek “You did so good sweetheart.” She breathed heavily and held her thighs shut while her eyes were all glossy & drool ran down her mouth which he cleaned up before church was over.
He didn’t even have to put in much effort into touching her which made him automatically know the feelings she felt for him.

Phlegm Bucket
Jeonghan catches a cold
It hadn’t initially been that bad. In fact it had taken almost the entire day before he realized he was sick. Originally he had a mild sore throat, but paired with mucus he could also feel, he attributed the sore throat to allergies or rhinitis. However, neither the sore throat nor the post nasal drip dissipated after a couple of hours.
As the day wore on, he steadily felt worse. By the time evening schedules were supposed to start, he wanted nothing more than to be in bed. He wasn't even feeling all that hungry, which given how hectic their schedules can be, is a bit surprising. As such, he wouldn't at all be surprised if he had even an inkling of a fever. He managed to get through his schedules without his members finding out that he's not feeling well. He crawled into bed with a slightly elevated temperature, hoping he'd either be obviously sick or feeling better tomorrow.
The following morning when he woke up, the first thing he did was take his temperature. Sure enough, it was reading 38. There was still a little bit of time before the rest of the group was due to wake up, so he decided to wait. If the number goes down, he'll go to work. If the number stays the same or goes up, he'll tell someone that he's too sick to go to schedules. He spent the next hour scrolling through his phone then checked his temperature again. This time it read 37.2 which meant slightly elevated temperature, but still no fever. The elevated temperature clearly meant that his body was beginning to fight something, but he felt fine. Obviously the plan for the day is to go to schedule and pretend to be feeling completely normal.
“-ake up. Jeonghan hyung. Wake up.” Soonyoung shook the elder awake. Jeonghan slowly blinked awake and quickly realized that he had fallen back asleep on the couch. He coughed a little as he made his way to the kitchen to get some water. As he drank the water, he tried not to wince, as his throat was still hurting.
Jeonghan moved to the table where Seungkwan and Jihoon were. It looks like he had slept through breakfast being made, even though he wasn’t in his room. He sat down and began eating the food he served himself.
“Hyung, why were you sleeping on the couch?” Sengkwan asked.
“I woke up a couple hours ago and moved to the couch. I guess at some point I fell back asleep “ Jeonghan shrugged as put some more food in his mouth.
Breakfast wasn't super chaotic because it was just the four of them. On days that everyone has the same starting schedule, they try to have a big group breakfast because it makes it easier to ensure everyone is accounted for. But today everyone has something different, so they're just eating with the people they live with.
The very first part of the day Jeonghan felt completely fine, aside from the sore throat. It wasn't until group dance practice that he started to once again feel bad. The post nasal drip was still pretty bad, and it was making him feel nauseous. The second oldest knew that he wasn't going to actually get sick, but it didn't change the fact that the amount of mucus draining into his stomach was upsetting the organ.
“Hyung, you don't look good. Are you feeling okay?” Chan asked Jeonghan during the first water break.
“I'm fine Di-” Jeonghan began to respond. Only to be interrupted by a very harsh cough that almost sounded like he was going to throw up.
“That doesn’t sound fine, hyung.” The maknae said. The younger man went to grab his water bottle and offered it to the older man.
“I’m fine Dino-yah. I’m just getting a cold.” The second oldest dismissed Chan’s water bottle in favor of his own. He wasn’t really in the mood to potentially pass his germs onto his members.
As the day progressed, Jeonghan’s stomach thankfully settled down. He still didn’t feel great, but he was feeling better than he was before lunch. However, he was dead on his feet by the time he and the rest of the group got back to the dorm. He barely had enough energy to shower. He also wasn’t hungry enough for dinner and went straight to sleep.
The following morning, Jeonghan woke up to a very harsh coughing fit. Whatever bug he’d managed to pick up was now fully settled into his system and it appeared to be a nasty chest cold. He drank some water from the cup on his nightstand before deciding to make himself some tea to try to soothe his throat.
It was somewhat early and Jeonghan had apparently woken up before the three men he shared an apartment with. He did his best to stifle his coughs until he could be back in his room, but it was proving fairly difficult. As soon as he finished making his tea, he went back to his room as quickly as possible. The moment he got back to his room, he grabbed a discarded sweater that was on the floor and coughed extremely harshly into it. Afterwards, he grabbed a tissue from the box he keeps on his nightstand and blew his nose, before finally taking a sip of his tea. Jeonghan crawled back into his bed and tried to go back to sleep.
Sleep was proving near impossible for the second oldest, as whatever mucus was draining down his throat kept irritating his throat. He kept bringing his blanket over his face to attempt to muffle his coughs as best as possible. Eventually he decided to lean his pillows against the wall in a vain attempt to prop himself up and hope that that would somehow help. Unfortunately shortly after he repositioned himself, his alarm began to go off. He groaned as he turned it off and got out of bed.
Jeonghan got dressed and drank his tea which was now cold. He also felt rather bad, and decided to put a mask on before leaving his room. In his opinion, his cough is next level bad, and he’d like to try not to pass his cold onto his members.
When Jeonghan entered the bathroom, Seungkwan was also there. The younger immediately noticed the fact that Jeonghan was wearing a mask. Seungkwan grabbed the infrared thermometer and scanned the older’s forehead.
“You don’t have a fever, hyung.” Seungkwan said. Jeonghan merely nodded before opening the medicine cabinet and removing the nearly empty bottle of liquid cold medicine and taking it back to his room. Once in his room, he did his best to take a swig of the cold medicine without gagging on the foul flavor. As soon as he managed to swallow the vile tasting liquid, he chugged several sips of water from his water bottle. He hoped the medicine would be of some help, but he wasn’t super optimistic based on how he currently felt.
Jeonghan almost wished he’d been running a fever. Especially when he entered the main area of the apartment and Jihoon immediately placed his hand on his forehead. “You look like shit, hyung.” The younger said. Jeonghan couldn’t help but nod in response. “I feel like shit too.”
Aside from responding to Jihoon, he remained quiet all throughout breakfast and in the car ride to the company. It was obvious to the three sharing an apartment with the sick member that he wasn’t feeling good. Soonyoung messaged Seungcheol to let him know that Jeonghan was sick and none of them were sure how present he’d be during dance or vocal practice.
Upon arriving at the company building, the leader was quick to pull Jeonghan aside to check in with him. The moment the slightly younger tried to speak, he wound up in a minute long throat tearing coughing fit. Seungcheol responded by grabbing the younger’s water bottle from his bag and offering it to him while rubbing his back. “I don’t think you should practice today. If you can’t even talk without coughing up a storm, you’re not going to accomplish anything today.” “No fever.” Jeonghan managed to say in between coughs. Seungcheol gave Jeonghan a look. “Tell me Hannie and please be honest. Did you only come in to work today because you don’t have a fever?” Jeonghan nodded as he sipped his water.
“In that case, I think you should go back to your dorm. If you’re too sick to effectively work, there’s really no point in you being here. Unless you want to sit and watch us practice of course.” Seungcheol said. Jeonghan shook his head at the mere suggestion of staying to watch. He’d much rather be in bed. The leader chuckled a little at his reaction before sending him back to the car to go home. The leader went to talk to the manager.
Jeonghan got back to the dorm and he first decided to start making some tea. He made two cups of water and put salt in one and tea in the other. While he waited for the tea to fully steep, he went to the bathroom with the salt water to do a throat gargle. The initial attempt to gargle the salt water left him a sputtering mess as his body rejected the idea of gargling anything. The second attempt went much better, but Jeonghan didn’t want to think about doing more gargles.
Jeonghan returned to the kitchen and grabbed the mug of tea before going to the living room to watch some tv. He grabbed a throw blanket and made himself comfortable on the couch. He turned on the tv to the children’s channel because it wasn’t going to be anything that he would need to pay attention to.
A few minutes after Jeonghan finished his tea, he had another fairly harsh coughing fit. He wound up coughing up some mucus, but unfortunately, there weren’t any tissues in the living area. Jeonghan didn’t feel like getting up, so he just grabbed his empty mug and spat into it. The next time Jeonghan had a productive cough, he did the same thing and spat the mucus into his mug.
Seungcheol had checked in periodically with the sick member when the group’s breaks allowed it. Every time, Jeonghan responded that he felt like shit, but otherwise he was fine.
Jeonghan migrated back to his room at some point and eventually fell asleep. Only to be woken up some time later by Soonyoung and Seungkwan returning home. Jihoon had stayed behind at the studio to get some writing done. It was less the younger members coming home, and more Seungkwan not knowing that Jeonghan was sleeping and loudly opened his door to say they had gotten home and ask him how he was doing.
“Sorry hyung, I didn’t know you were sleeping. Your li-” Seungkwan was interrupted by Jeonghan abruptly sitting up and once again coughing rather productively. When Jeonghan felt the wad of mucus hit the back of his teeth, he stumbled past the younger to get to the bathroom, where he spat it into the sink. He turned on the faucet to rinse it down the drain then leaned against the counter tiredly.
“Are you okay hyung?” Seungkwan asked from the door of the bathroom. Jeonghan nodded his head and moved past him to the living room where Soonyoung was sitting, scrolling through his phone. The sick member sat down next to Soonyoung and Seungkwan wasn’t far behind with the thermometer in hand.
“How’re you feeling now hyung?” Soonyoung asked as he pocketed his phone. Seungkwan took Jeonghan’s temperature, and just like the previous times, it came back normal.
“I feel great gu-.” Jeonghan started, but it came out barely above a whisper. Jeonghan’s eyes widened a little when he tried to speak. Because he had barely spoken all day, he hadn’t realized that he had been coughing so much to lose his voice.
“I’m going to make you some tea.” Seungkwan said before walking over to the kitchen. Meanwhile Soonyoung texted an update to Seungcheol telling him that while Jeonghan still didn’t have a fever, he lost his voice.
Jeonghan had long given up on wearing a mask in his own dorm. Even though he didn’t want his members to catch his cold, he realized that it was just a little impractical to be wearing a mask in his own living space. Unless of course he were to sequester himself to his room, which was equally impractical because his manager could demand he come into work purely because he doesn’t have a fever.
Shortly before Seungkwan finished making the tea, Jeonghan once again had a coughing fit. He did his best to keep his face rammed into his elbow, and he could feel Sooyoung patting his back. “I think you might want to consider going to the doctor hyung.” Jeonghan shook his head right before nodding. He was honestly kind of miserable and wanted something to bare minimum, alleviate the cough. The cold medicine he had taken that morning hadn’t done anything.
It wasn’t long for Seungkwan to make the tea. He carried a tray with three mugs, one for each of them. He gave one to Soonyoung and one to Jeonghan before sitting down next to the sick member. Jeonghan took a sip and then decided to hold the mug up to his face and just spend time inhaling some of the steam. The trio sat in relative silence until Soonyoung spotted something.
“Hyung, what’s in this mug?” Soonyoung asked when he looked at the contents of the mug that Jeonghan had left out earlier. At the bottom of the mug was a thin layer of some kind of green viscous liquid. “Is this some kind of remedy you tried?” He continues to ask as he goes to take a sip of whatever was in the mug.
Before Soonyoung could fully bring the mug to his lips, Jeonghan knocked the mug out of his hand onto the floor. Jeonghan had a slightly panicked look on his face when he hit the mug out of Soonyoung’s hand. The handle of the mug broke off upon impact, but none of the mug’s contents spilled out. Both Soonyoung and Seungkwan looked a little bit shocked at Jeonghan’s actions, but quickly dismissed it for Jeonghan not wanting them to be in such direct contact with his germs. The sick member had gotten up and grabbed the mug and broken handle. He threw the handle in the trash, but placed the handle-less mug on the table next to his mug of tea. The younger two were slightly curious as to why the mug wasn’t taken to the kitchen or thrown away as well, but since Jeonghan currently couldn’t talk, they didn’t ask. Soonyoung turned on a drama they all had been watching and the trio once again fell into relative silence.
Around thirty minutes later, Jeonghan felt the same tickle in the back of his throat that had been bugging him off and on all day. He didn’t want to cough again, so he tried his best to hold them back, only to break out into an intense fit a moment later. Soonyoug got up to fetch a glass of water while Seungkwan patted the older’s back. Once the sick member finished coughing, he grabbed the handle-less mug and spat into it.
“That’s gross hyung.” Seungkwan said just as Soonyoung returned with the glass of water.
“What’s gross?” Soonyoung asked. Seungkwan grabbed the mug from Jeonghan and said, “It’s a phlegm bucket. Hyung’s been spitting the phlegm he coughs up into this mug.” Soonyoung grimaced as he handed Jeonghan the water.
“Yeah, thanks for not letting me drink that hyung.” Soonyoug responded. Jeonghan smiled as he drank the water. “No problem.” Jeonghan attempted to whisper, only to start coughing again.
“I’m going to text Jihoon and tell him we’re taking you to the doctor.” Soonyoung says just as Jihoon walks into the dorm. The three that had been in the dorm for a couple hours stared at Jihoon confusedly. The 96 liner shrugged his shoulders. “I forgot that the company was replacing a bunch of equipment. I decided to save what I was currently working on and come back.” Jihoon explained.
“Hyung, we’re taking Jeonghan hyung to the doctor, he’s gotten worse.” Seungkwan says. Brief confusion and concern crosses Jihoon’s face before shrugs his coat back on. Jeonghan follows the younger out of the dorm and to the car. Thankfully, the staff member that had driven Jihoon home hadn’t left yet.
The duo arrived at the urgent care clinic and were in the waiting room waiting to be seen. Jeonghan was wearing a mask and Jihoon had become more concerned for his hyung over the course of the car ride. He had listened to the older cough rather intensely during the ride and the staff member had to give him a random restaurant napkin that was in the glove box so that the sick member could spit out the phlegm he coughed up.
Jihoon had initially been a bit shocked that Jeonghan wanted him to go with him into the room, until he actually heard the older man try and fail to talk. Johoon explained to the doctor that Jeonghan had been sick for a couple of days and that he’d been coughing so hard to lose his voice and that he was coughing phlegm as well. The urgent care visit ended with Jeonghan getting a prescription for a cough suppressant so that he’d be able to properly rest along with a note excusing from work for the next week.
When the duo returned home, they found that Soonyoung and Seungkwan had made dinner for the four of them. The four men quietly ate dinner, only talking to update Jeonghan about things that had occurred during practice. The sick member found himself feeling not very hungry, but also pretty exhausted, so he excused himself from the table and called it a night early. As he walked to his room he could hear laughter as Seungkwan and Soonyoung were trying to somehow prank Jihoon with the phlegm bucket.

Today I actually ate really well. I'm seeing the evidence that if I eat mostly vegetables and nutrient dense foods, then I stay fuller for longer.
I did a little boredom eating today, but it wasn't a binge eat you know? It was more like a study break snack, and I didn't even end up finishing it which I'm proud of.
For breakfast, I had a peanut butter sandwich and banana (all I had time for).
Lunch, I bought a "Sicilian stacker" sandwich and a side salad made with spinach, strawberries, chicken, and feta cheese. There wasn't any dressing included, which was a bummer, but it ended up tasting fine either way. It was a really delicious lunch! I think the sandwich may have been loaded in calories, but it was delicious and kept me full for a long time, so I don't think the calories matter as much as that. Plus, the salad was really delicious too.
I also drank 2 energy drinks over lunch, which weren't actually energy drinks. Idk, they're something called "bubblrs"? Technically flavored sparkling water with caffeine (I think). Either way, I needed it and they tasted delicious so it was a good lunch!
I spent the evening studying, which was a lot more overwhelming than I thought it would be. This semester of nursing school is really kicking my ass, not gonna lie. On the plus side, I've been passing all my exams, I got a 94 on a psych exam today which is cool. But I want to do better for my other classes.
Anyway, for dinner, my mom gave me a bean and cheese taco. On the side, I made a salad with tomato, bell pepper, some ground turkey, and some other crunchy stuff, like Parmesan crisps and nuts. Overall, my dinner was also delicious, incredibly filling. I didn't feel hungry at all after eating, which is refreshing.
So far, I think the biggest barrier I have to healthy eating is time. I can easily cook, buy cheap ingredients to cook, and manage it. But I'm a full time student who has a 1 hour commute to and from school. Plus, I have a million other things to deal with.
So I have to drive 1 hr to school, be at school ALL day (so I need lunch and snacks packed or bought), then I need to drive 1 hr home, make dinner, then wash dishes and prep tomorrow's meals.
Like, when I get home if love to work on homework or other work, but it's like all my time is occupied with making food, prepping food, buying food, planning what food I'm going to make, cleaning up after making food, cleaning up after eating food. Idk, it's just exhausting. I wish there was a cheat code but there isn't. Ugh.
Anyway, that's all I got for today.

Perfect Body for a Perfect Girl
Really quick, I just wanted to say something. Requests aren't open this is just a fic that I made from a request that was given before my break. Alright, by the way this fic was requested by @mayodayo and features their ocs, Holly and Fusha.
Summary: Fusha finds out about Holly's eating disorder and tries to help her with it
Warnings: Fainting, Starving Self, Eating Disorder
Holy always hated how her body looked, She had Willow's body type and Hunter's height so her silhouette was weird. And she hated it. The only way she could fix it was by making herself thinner, that was the only thing she could control. So, about a week before the big flyer derby match, she exercised a lot more than usual and didn't eat much. When she did eat it only had the nutrients that she needed to live. Yes, she was dizzy. But, after two and a half weeks, it was time to see if she had made any progress.
She got out of bed and looked in the mirror.
"Well, I don't see any change. "
She pulled out the scale from under her bed and stepped onto it.
"What? I haven't lost any weight!" She said as quietly as she could.
She put the scale back and went to sleep. Holly walked down the halls of Hexside, whispers and laughs spread across the school like a disease. Everyone pointed at Holly while laughing. Even the bell laughed at her!
Holly's eyes shot open, and she sat up immediately after, panting and sweating. She looked at her alarm that was going off and turned it off. She went downstairs for breakfast.
Breakfast was fine. Everyone was talking, while Holly picked at her food. So, nobody noticed that she hadn't eaten anything. She waited until everyone was gone before she put her food back on their respective plates. She quickly drank some water and went up to her room.
Holly was sweating a lot, probably because of how much she was exercising, but she didn't mind, she was about to take a shower anyway.
There was a knock on the door. "Are you okay? I saw you weren't eating much during breakfast." Fusha said, concern in her voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Holly let out between breaths.
"What are you doing in there?"
"Exercising."
"Oh, well, don't strain or exert yourself."
"Okay!"
Holly went into the bathroom and took a shower, changed into her uniform, brushed her teeth, and brushed her hair. She grabbed her bag and went to school.
Not much else happened that day, well that didn't happen every day. Just the usual stuff, Holly not being able to focus, Holly not having any food at lunch despite being starving, and Holly almost fainting during the entire school day.
Finally, she was home. She flopped onto her bed and got some sleep. When she got up, she went to have dinner. She drank a glass of water before going into the dining room. She only ate some vegetables and a piece of the stake that had been made. When everyone left, she put her food back onto their respective plates and exercised again.
She brushed her teeth, took a shower, changed into her pajamas, and brushed her hair, putting it into two braids. She fell asleep immediately after her head hit the pillow.
Holly did the same thing that she had done the previous morning. She didn't eat breakfast, exercised, and got ready for the day. But, today at school, she was walking and a wave of weakness came over her, and she blacked out. She woke up in the nurse's office and was confronted by Fusha when the two of them got home.
"What happened? What is going on?"
"I..." Holly sighed, "Just look at me! I'm tall and round! My silhouette is weird! And, I'm sick of it! So I've been starving myself to lose weight and be skinnier! Since my weight is the only thing that I can change."
"Holly, you are beautiful! Your entire body is beautiful! Okay? I know that I made fun of you before your parents took me in, but I didn't mean anything bad about you that I said! Okay?"
"Alright, thank you." Holly said.
Slowly, Fusha helped Holly reintroduce food into her body and Holly begain to eat normally again! Of course, she still had dysphoria. But, Fusha reminded her that she was beautiful. That's what friends do! Yeah... that's all they were... friends.

November 27, 2023
Wow, it's kind of been a long time since I wrote.
I'm not really sure what's going on, if anything. i "work," but mostly i stay in bed for a long time and stare at my phone. on days i don't drink coffee, i just lounge around, do minimal time-sensitive work, answer a few emails, but mostly just lie down and play games on my phone, scan the news headlines, catch up on celebrity gossip, read stories on divorces and break-ups, and fall asleep to true crime youtube. on weekends i sleep some 12-14 hours when I have nothing planned.
this past weekend was thanksgiving. lana didn't want to host and most of her other family were doing other things, so we decided that i'd host and lana brought over a 4-person thanksgiving meal set from Whole Foods, i orderded and picked up a pie from Lark Bakery, as well as made green bean casserole, and picked up a frozen mudd pie and key lime pie from ralphs.
i cleaned a bit, they came over, we ate, they played around with Guitar Hero, some darts, and various other make-believe games. i was exhausted and then they left.
the next day i took over a plate to my mom for lunch. not sure what else i did, but i did go get a thai massage at 6pm.
on saturday i had brunch with kelly, and we simultaneously got the official news that xio had passed, via a text from. matt as well as a link to her obituary. i had heard it might be true the wednesday prior and cried then, but seeing it from matt broke me differently, and kelly and i cried and hugged each other (shoulder hug).
afterward i walked over to jingmai's where we caught up and had tea, and then we walked over to grace's where we drank a loooot and caught up some more. jingmai eventually left and grace and steven had some korean chicken delivered which i gratefully ate before going home.
then on sunday i just slept for 12-14 hours. just sleeping, waking to eat and go to the bathroom, and back again, in a weird, listless, pointless kind of way. i was annoyed with myself for not being productive, for not attending to the dishes, for not taking a healthy walk, for not eating healthily, and i got a notification that despite my goal of decreasing my screen time from 9.5 to 9 hours, i had actually increased it to 10.5 hours. i should probably try not to fall asleep to it. it might knock off an hour or two hourly.
today i woke up sad and with the feels. i quickly checked my fitbit, and my period is 1 week away. i'm hoping i can chalk it up to that. i felt very sad, very heavy, and just overall sort of overwhelmed with helplessness. i thought a little about jadai, and a lot about xio. i cried more today. i texted danielle and ray and we cried some more. i texted elaine too but didn't cry so much. she seemed strangely unmoved. i'm not sure if there was some weird history there or what.
but today felt sort of .... just emptier than usual, stupider than usual.
i was "productive." i pulled off a sheet to toss out that was getting pretty ratty and the middle was kind of balling up with cotton bits, and would feel rough against my skin. i did three loads of laundry. i did three loads of dishes. i watered plants, checked the mail, texted some people, purchased a tv stand for my mom online. i ate up some things in the fridge. i did more work than i had in some days. and i mean, it was fine i guess? but like, i thought of matt a lot. i thought of how he had worked his way up to be a supervisor, to buy a house, and now he was going home to nothing. to a dog that didn't know where her mom was. like what was the work for? what was it all going toward? he had love, he had adventure, companionship, a partner, and now he doesn't. it was a beautiful love story that we all got to witness, and now he ... he is a widower. how does that make sense? what is it all good for? his promotion, his button down collared shirts.
as i went about, back and forth, getting my laundry to and from the washer and dryer, taking out trash and recycling, it just all felt very stupid. i thought again and again, what is this all for? is it supposed to be fun? we spend so much time just "maintaining," with our routines and our daily necessary habits and eating and sleeping and hygiene and then we need our daily doses of socializing and resting, just sims trying to keep our little statuses in the green.
and i know that somehow it's supposed to work toward something. you work a 9-5 so that you have your evenings and weekends and the occasional 1-2 week vacation. you go to concerts, and celebrations for momentous occasions for friends and family. you buy your gift on amazon and they get their food from costco and porto's, and just on and on while people around us die and suffer and then we eventually suffer and die as well.
there seems to be no meaning, no rhyme or reason to it.
sometimes i think that maybe my life would have more meaning if i could reduce the suffering of others. whether it be via offering food, water, shelter, just some sort of momentary reprieve from life's hardships, but .... say everyone, the whole world's suffering eased some. we all went up two degrees, or we all had the same amount of "suffering" that i would have. then would life be pointless all over again? what if we achieved some sort of radical decrease in overall suffering. then what?
i feel like xio represented some of the best of us. even when she saw the end coming, she was a loving wife, daughter, friend, sister. she took care of and loved her dog. she kept up her sense of wit and humor. she went to concerts, traveled, and did as much as she could until she couldn't. i think she really loved life and she wanted to live so much, that she actually outlived her prognosis/estimate by 3 years. her will to live overpowered her physical illness beyond what people could really fathom.
i don't know what it's all for. i know with jadai, i had comfort. i had security, stability, i felt seen and known and loved. i knew i had a partner to listen to me, to listen to, someone cared about me, and knew the ins and outs of my day, and would follow up with me. only other assessor folk know what's going on with xio. if i tell other friends, they sort of tsk tsk and say they're sorry, but they don't know what she was like, who she was, why this was such a loss. and there are so many things like that. where nobody knows what i'm going through, with how i feel, with the minutiae of my day and how i feel, how i'm affected.
i used to go to amir a lot, but he's fallen off. gyoon has fallen off, and i know she's busy with work, and with family, and trips, and her new best friend julie, and her creative endeavors. amir has somehow gotten over his heartbreak and is back helping out with his family, his church, visiting his friends. we used to text/call each other everyday, but he hasn't called for days now, even when i texted him to do so a few days ago. danielle has consistently been there, texting at least every other day if i don't text the other days. but even she's busy, going to concerts, watching after her dog, hanging out with heidi.
*update Amir just called and i picked up, sobbing. then halfway through our call i heard a loud banging on the door and startled, opened the door. and there he was. amir. i cried afresh.
he ate an unripe persimmon, drank a la croix, and ate some rice, kimchi, and kim, and then headed out to go to mike's for the night. he's such a good friend. i lowkey feel bad that i kindof dismissed him, but as soon as he heard my voice, he diverted, and came right over. what a guy.
i know a lot of this is xio. some of it is PMS. some of it is feeling like i don't have a lot of friends right now. lt is pretty focused on her relationship and will go hours without texting or responding, or just responding in part, and never acknowledging everything else. the venice group has their stuff going on. i feel like antoinette never initiates or keeps up a conversation and just gives me one-word responses. christina d never asks how i am but when i ask, she just bitches forever and ever. everyone's too busy with everything, and i'm feeling disconnected and left out.
hopefully this too shall pass. if the good passes, i'm hoping so will the bad.

How will the mcu Ultron react to the fact that s/o has toxic parents? Maybe s/o just burst into tears in front of him? I would like some fluff, if possible, sorry and thank you.
Oooooo okay!
Warning: emotional abuse, angst, fluff
Ultron would always wonder why you declined his offer for you to house with him, though the offer still stands, you were still persistent. Was it him? Did he make you uncomfortable?
A text interrupted his thoughts,
"[ this is really sudden, but can I crash at your place for the night? ]"
"[ yeah! You're always welcome here.....you have the key right? ]"
"[ yeah, thank you! ]"
Snapping out his daze, Ultron moved to the kitchen to prep lunch. About an hour, you made sure to announce that you were entering before opening the door.
"Good afternoon, did you eat lunch?" Ultron tilted his head at you.
"Mm' good afternoon." You smiled. He didn't know what happened, but your smile wasn't hiding your teary eyes.
"I'll get you some hot tea," Ultron pulled his gaze away, in case his staring was too obvious. "You can rest up on the couch."
"Thank you." At the end, your voice choked and he watched you walk to the couch. You would be on and off your phone, checking it to see the onslaught of messages from your parents. Ultron sat next to you with your lunch and hot tea, setting it down on the table. "Thank you." He didn't want to disturb you while you were eating, but his gaze would move to your phone where he could make out the rapid texts your parents were sending.
"While you're here, I'll get the bed ready for you." Ultron offered. You nodded and watched him disappear for a short moment. You knew he was giving you time to yourself and you could feel your heart stop hammering. Although you were still shaky, you slowly placed the dishes in the sink.
"Do you need anything? I can do everything else, just make sure to rest up." Ultron insisted. You didn't know what came over you. One second, you thought you were fine and now, you stood in front of Ultron as tears filled your eyes. He tensed as you dropped onto the ground, your body hunched over as you hid yourself. Ultron joined you on the ground, his hand hesitantly hovered over your back. "You'll be alright....and even if you're not, this place is for you. Breathe."
"I-I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me." You cried out. "I don't deserve you." His hand abruptly paused from rubbing your back, he gave your shoulders a gentle yet affirmative squeeze.
"That's not true." Ultron assures. "I don't know what happened or what you went through, but you're the most kindhearted person I know." He held you close to him as you continued to cry, though you tried to express your situation through your tears. He brushed away the tears from your cheeks.
"M-my parents," you sobbed out before breaking down again.
"Shh, it's okay. You're here." Ultron said softly. "Catch your breath." He handed you the cup of water and you gently drank the rest of the water.
Once your sobs settled down, you took in a deep breath. "Y-you already know a-about the professor.....that's teaching the class and how he's an asshole." Ultron nodded. "Well....we h-had a test recently, and the entire class failed. My parents didn't understand when I tried to explain how awful the professor was. They threatened to take away my belongings and sell them or break them if I didn't get my grade up.....they also said they would kick me out of the house." You exhaled deeply. Ultron was silent, but his hands didn't stop comforting you.
"That is not your fault. I'm sorry you have parents that don't understand how much you've done or how much you've given your best. You really don't deserve that." Ultron sighed. "You could always move in with me.....this is yours."
"My parents–" you started.
"Hey," He suddenly pulled you away from him as he lifted your face gently for you to look at him. "Don't worry about them. I'll help you move out, and you won't have to worry about anything else. I can send some of my funds to their account so they don't have to depend on you. They can take care of themselves. And you need some time away from them.....being around toxic people will only suffocate you."
"Thank you." You wrapped your arms around him. "Thank you for everything."
"Of course." Ultron pressed a kiss to your head. "You know I wouldn't hesitate if you asked."
"You deserve better."
"Come now," Ultron drawled. "You're exactly that. Maybe even more than better.....now, how bout we watch something and just destress? Hm? I have some ice cream that I saved for you." You nodded as he helped you off the floor. The rest of the day was just you relaxing and Ultron sent a thorough email about the professor to the dean. Obviously, with proof.

Hi!! You wrote it ages ago but would you consider continuing snippet 2?? It was great, I loved it!!!
Snippet #2.1
Part 1
Oh my god, y'all remember Snippet Two?! HOW DARE YOU MAKE ME FEEL ALL FUZZY INSIDE-- I'M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE!!
If the hero would not look after themself willingly, then the villain would force them to.
Mind control was not a power they were overly fond of having. Indeed, sometimes even for them - a villain, whose morals were admittedly a little on the more questionable side of things - the idea of using it just seemed wrong. Invasive. For that reason, they only tended to use it in moments of desperation, and when they'd seen the hero approaching them looking every bit dead upon their feet, as though the whole weight of the world was pressing down upon their back, the villain had been more desperate than ever.
The first thing they did was force the hero to slip into a deep sleep, not moving until they were convinced the other was completely under their influence before picking them up and carrying them all the way back to their lair. There they laid them down upon their sofa, briefly waking them to ask if they were hungry. The hero said yes. The villain only kept them awake a while longer to take note of any allergies or dietary preferences before letting them rest once more, making them a simple sandwich with a side of fruit and setting it down upon the counter. With a mere thought, the hero was awake again and coming to sit down at the place they'd set - the villain hovering over them for a moment to ensure they weren't about to collapse until finally coming to sit opposite them.
"Eat as much of it as you feel you can manage," the villain directed. "You should also drink some of that water, but don't force yourself if you don't think you can stomach it."
The hero's gaze was vacant as they stared back at them for a second and then down at their food. First they took a small sip of water, hands shaking slightly but other than that they managed just fine. Then they started to eat.
It was a slow process - the hero's bites were small and they took a long time to chew and swallow. When they pushed the plate forward to indicate they were finished it was still half full, though they'd at least drank the entirety of the glass of water. It still troubled the villain though - they'd hoped the hero would have eaten far more than that but they really didn't want to force them: the hero couldn't lie when they were under their influence; if the hero was saying they didn't want to eat more then the villain would respect that.
Still, it prompted them to ask a few questions.
"How many meals would you say you eat on an average day?"
The hero stared down at the table, their face void of any expression or feeling.
"Two," they answered. "I tend to skip breakfast, sometimes lunch too."
"And how many hours a day would you say you spend working?"
"Fourteen."
The villain sucked in a breath, internally cursing themself for not having intervened sooner.
"How many days a week?" they asked.
"Every day," the hero responded.
"You have no days off?"
The hero simply shook their head. "Only if I've sustained major injuries."
"And what counts as a 'major injury'?"
"Broken bones. Severe internal bleeding. Severe head trauma. Third-Degree bur--"
The villain paused them there, getting enough of an idea to continue forwards.
"How many hours of sleep would you say you get per night?" was their next question.
A beat of silence passed, the hero considering it slowly.
"Anywhere between three to five hours," they settled on eventually.
It made the villain sick to their stomach - all of it: whoever had let this happen was a monster with no care for anything but the amount of money in their pockets. The hero should have put a stop to it themself a long time ago but the villain also knew that they wouldn't have had the heart to; that if they got the chance they would always choose the people over themself no matter what. Stubborn, selfless, idiot... The hero had been working themself towards the point of breaking.
But the villain was here now. They would look after them, and they would help them recover. And they would never let this happen to their hero again.
"Is there anything else you need?"
The hero blinked slowly and the villain felt the tiniest pull of resistance from them - a small tug at the back of their mind.
"I need to work," they said. "I should be working - I need to work."
"No," the villain said. "The last thing you need to do is work."
For a second the hero seemed confused, then their expression turned vacant once more. "I need to sleep. I'm tired."
Now that was something the villain could agree to. They stood and made their way over to the hero, carefully picking them up from their seat and taking them down a set of corridors to their bedroom. There the villain helped them out of their shoes and cape and convinced them to lie down. As soon as the hero's head hit the pillow their eyes drooped, slowly closing shut as the villain carded a hand through their hair, lulling them into a much needed sleep. After a while, the villain came to lie beside them. They did it slowly - eyes tracing the movement of the hero's chest rising up and down as they gradually retracted their hold upon the other's mind, their influence thinning out until it was nothing more than a fleeting thought.
It had been a while since the villain had held someone under their control for that long...
The weariness set in immediately, the toll of using their power in such a sudden, intense, burst left them feeling numb - arms as good as lead, they felt their entire body relax, no longer pulled taut over the tension that their own power caused. A little clumsily they reached out for the hero beside them and pulled them closer ever so slightly, letting their chin rest upon the other's head as they too shut their eyes.
When the hero eventually awoke, the villain would need every fibre of the power within them to convince the other to stay.

sick on an empty stomach, paired with anxiety?
Nov(emeto)ber 2022 Day 12: Sick on an Empty Stomach
@monthofsick
When Sawyer's stomach started to feel unsettled, he'd stopped eating immediately. He threw away his half eaten cinnamon roll, opting instead to fuel his body with only the most minuscule of sips of water, taken in at hour long intervals or longer.
Later, he'd chosen to forgo lunch, passing the afternoon logged into his classes. He found it incredibly hard to focus, his mind always wandering to the uneasy feeling in his gut.
He didn't eat, he hardly drank, so why wasn't the feeling going away?
Before he'd even registered how much time had passed, Alex came home, and then Sawyer made up the excuse of having a big lunch and that he wasn't going to be hungry for dinner.
They went to bed after watching a movie, though Alex was much faster at drifting off to sleep.
Sawyer chewed on his lip until he tasted blood, making his stomach give a nauseating flip. The nausea has ramped up right before bed, morphing from a noticeable uneasiness to full blown nausea and cramps, and it did nothing to chase the anxiety from Sawyer's mind.
He tried to breathe deeply from his nose, nervous chills breaking out across his skin. He whimpered softly, the sound morphing into a queasy hiccup.
He slapped his hands over his mouth, his breath becoming quick and ragged. His mind was racing now, twenty different thoughts crossing his mind, each going several hundred miles a minute.
Alex shifted beside him, maybe sensing his boyfriend's distress, though he continued snoring softly.
Sawyer needed to get up. He needed to do anything other than lay here and let his mind torture him as much as his stomach was threatening to.
He crept into the bathroom, gently pulling the door shut behind him until it gave a soft click. He flipped the switch on the wall, flooding the room in light. He leaned over the sink, getting a good look at himself in the mirror.
His face was pale, almost alarmingly so, and it was easy to see the anxious fear in his eyes. He splashed his face with water, letting the liquid run down his face rather than trying to dry it off.
A sudden cramp rippled through his abdomen and it was like such a punch to the gut that he wrapped his arms around his bare middle, groaning.
He stayed hovered over the sink, the ticking of the clock on the wall ringing in his ears. Minutes passed, hours maybe, it was hard to tell and Sawyer was too busy concentrating on one thing only.
The bathroom door swung open, the hinges creaking. Sawyer had almost forgotten he wasn't alone in the house, and he gasped at the confused, bleary-eyed with sleep look on his boyfriend's face.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked, his voice hoarse with sleep. He wasn't wearing his glasses, his squint overly pronounced.
"Nothing," Sawyer answered, much too quickly to even begin to sound convincing. "Just washing my face."
"You've been in here a long time. Your side of the bed is cold."
"I'm fine," Sawyer tried again, though his stomach chose that exact moment to let out a loud ominous-sounding gurgle.
Alex stared at him a long time, his hand still on the bathroom door handle. Sawyer could only hope his boyfriend was going to let it go.
"Are you feeling okay?"
Sawyer gulped. "I said I'm fine."
Alex crossed the tiny space, putting a hand on Sawyer's naked back. "You really don't look fine," he mused.
Sawyer felt his lip begin to quiver, his eyes growing hot. But before his emotions could get the better of him, his shoulders rolled forward with a powerful retch.
He angled himself back over the sink just in time for his stomach to heave once more. He belched, deep and guttural and sick-sounding, but all he managed to bring up was foamy bile.
Alex frowned. Sawyer said he'd had a big lunch, but it seemed now that his stomach was completely empty.
"Do you want some water?" he offered. "It might help, uh, get things started."
"No!" Sawyer cried. He gave a nauseous hiccup, futilely trying to swallow back the rush of saliva. "I'm not going to throw up."
"Yeah, but maybe you need to. I know you're scared, bur your stomach seems pretty sick."
But Sawyer was adamant that he was fine. "Just give me a minute..."
He leaned forward over the sink, lips parted as he tried to pant his way through the nausea. He was drooling, unable to swallow the amount of bitter saliva without it making his stomach turn.
He whimpered as another cramp seized him, his whole body jerked forward as he retched. His shoulders hiked all the way up to his ears as he heaved again, his body desperate to rid itself of something it didn't have.
It was absolutely painful, his throat raw as he managed to bring up only acid, his stomach muscles clenching like they were trying to squeeze everything out of him.
Alex rubbed his back through the whole ordeal, even when Sawyer's dry heaving began to taper off.
"Do you think you're finished?" It felt like a weird question to ask, especially because it was like Sawyer had never really started to begin with.
Still, Sawyer nodded. "For now," he muttered miserably. He wrapped his arms around his stomach with a groan. "I wanna go lay down..."
"Okay," Alex agreed, "and then I want you to try and drink a little bit of water."
Panic flashed across Sawyer's face.
Alex's face softened slightly. "You'll be okay," he encouraged. "I'll be right with you the whole time, and we'll bring a trash can just in case."

Sick Day
Bakugo x reader
Summery: you wake up sick
Masterlist
Morning set in. Rays from the sun peeked through the blinds, waking you up. You groaned as you turned over, trying to go back to sleep. Your throat felt scratchy, and you sat up suddenly coughing. The sudden movement and noise made the sleeping Bakugo next to you wake up. "Gross, cover your mouth, ya germ," Bakugo said, his words slurred as he turned over. You covered your mouth, trying to stop. "Get some water, jeez." He said, his voice slightly sounding annoyed. You leaned over and grabbed the glass on the side of your bed. You drank, but it didn't help you kept coughing. "Are you dying or something?" He said, finally sitting up and turning around to look at you.
After a few seconds, you finally stopped. You laid back into the bed, "I think I'm sick." Bakugo groaned and started to get out of bed, walking out the room. You got back under the covers, turning over and closing your eyes again. A few minutes later, Bakugo comes back, kneeling next to your side of the bed and sticking a thermometer in your mouth, also putting his hand on your forehead. "Jeez, you're burning up. I told you, you should've taken your coat on patrol, idiot." He said. Last week, you were getting ready for patrol, and Katsuki told you to take your coat since it was cold. You said it would be fine. It's not.
Katsuki took the thermometer out of your mouth, looking at it. "Good grief. Your temperature is 118." He says, standing up. "I'll stay in from work today." He says, walking out of the room again. A few seconds later, he comes back with more blankets, a bucket, and a glass of water. "I'll be in the living room. Call me if you need anything." He says, about to walk out again. "No goodbye kiss?" You say, with a weak voice, looking at him through the blankets. "Um, no. I'm not catching your germs." He says, walking out, leaving the door cracked. You went to sleep for about 2 hours.
Bakugo would check on you but mostly stayed in the living room. "Katsuki?" You called from the bedroom. He came to the door, opening it and leaning on it, waiting to see what you wanted. Even sick, you noticed how good-looking he was. He had on a gray t-shirt, black sweatpants, and glasses that he only wore when he was reading and sometimes; when he was watching tv. "Cuddles?" You ask, opening your arms to him. "I'm not getting sick y/n. I'm making lunch right now. I'll be back in a few minutes."
He comes back about 15 minutes later with a bowl, motioning for you to sit up. He places the bowl in front of you and sits on the edge of the bed, waiting for you to start eating. Once you finally did, he got up to go back and get his food. "I'm done." You said after you had eaten the last of the soup. He came and got your empty bowl and left again, telling you to get more rest. You spent most of the rest of the day either laying down or half sitting up watching tv, not being on your phone since it irritated your eyes and headache.
Around 8:30 pm, Katsuki finally came to the bedroom. He sat next to you, feeling your head again. "How do you feel?" He askes. "A little better, I guess." You said. He nodded and sat back against the headboard. He sat reading his book while you laid next to him with your back facing him. You turned over, scooting closer to him, trying to lift yourself to lay on him. "Y/n. I'm not letting you get me sick." He said, trying to move over. "Come on. Please suki?" You whined. He'd never admit it, but he did want to comfort you. He just hated being sick and didn't wanna risk getting sick. "Fine." He said, sighing. He put his book down, stretching his arm out for you to come and lay on him. You scooted over, laying your head on his chest and resting your eyes. He brings his warm hand up and rests it on your head. "Does that feel good?" He asked. "Yeah." You say, smiling and cuddling up more to him. Katsuki reaches over, turning off the light, and wrapping his other arm around you, pulling you tighter against him, ready to sleep.
A few days later, you're feeling better. You wake up from your alarm going off. You yawn and turn it off, sitting up. As you sit up, you hear Bakugo turn over a sneeze. "You have got to be joking." He groans. "Oh no. You feeling ok?" You ask. "No, I don't feel ok. I caught your stupid cold." He says, annoyed. "I'm sorry, baby. I have patrol today. You want me to make you some lunch for later?" You ask, trying not to let him notice you, half smiling at how ironic the situation is. He doesn't say anything. He sits, laying back and covering his eyes with his arm. "Ok, baby. I'll be right back." You say, getting up to make some quick food. "Whatever.”

With a cat s/o (who's flexible, stretches alot, loves affection and sleeps alot) With peh yan, Izana, Rindou and Kisaki
I'm sorry this took so longggg! I was having a hard time thinkign of scenarios for Rindou and Kisaki but I'm glad I managed. LMAO.
Hope you would like this <3
Cat-Like (Tokyo Revengers)
Genre: Fluff, A little bit Suggestive, Crack?
Pairings: Peh Yan, Izana, Rindou, Kisaki x FEM! S/O
P.S Characters are all 18+ except for Rindou cause in this drabble he is 17 :>
RYOHEI HAYASHI (PEH YAN)
Peh yan knows a lot of things about you but that doesn't mean he actually knows EVERYTHING about you.
"Y/N...I'm home!" Your boyfriend called out as he opened the door to your guy's shared apartment, loosening his tie - he swiftly removed his shoes and looked around. As soon as he stepped into the living room, he was greeted by you with your feet touching the back of your head, your arms supporting you as you breathe deeply. Feeling the relaxing air around you with earphones in your ears.
Peh Yan was tired and instead of him seeing you being all relaxed, he thought you were stuck and needed help. He quickly dropped all of his things and rushed towards you.
"Y/N! ARE YOU OKAY?! Wait I'LL CALL THE AMBULANCE! WHAT HAPPENED?! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BREAK YOUR BONES?!?!" You flicked your boyfriend's forehead to which he just winced in pain.
"You Idiot! I wasn't hurt! I was STRETCHING! IT's CALLED YOGA!" You scolded him as you stood up to go and grab some water from the fridge, Peh Yan following behind you.
"What do you mean that was stretching?? THIS is stretching!" Peh Yan yelled as he showed you some simple stretches, you just drank your water with a smile slowly forming on your lips.
"Babe, this is why the word FLEXIBLE is invented...I'm flexible, you should already know that. You like spreading my legs" You jokingly said as you patted his shoulders, giving him a soft peck in the cheeks and heading back to the living room to clear out your things. Peh was left there flustered because of your suggestive joke.
BONUS: You continued your Yoga lessons...but this time it was with Peh... :>
IZANA KUROKAWA
Izana stared at you with judging eyes, raised eyebrows and his eyes narrowed. Apparently, you two were supposed to leave an HOUR ago because you two have a reservation.
Izana thought of making up to you because of him always disappearing during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, resulting in you always eating alone.
To summarize what Izana is looking at...You were splayed all over your shared bed with him, messy hair, morning breath, and basically not ready for dinner. He thought he had already woke you up but he was wrong since after he woke you up you crawled back to bed while he was cleaning the car.
Izana lightly massaged the bridge of his nose as he sets the alarm for you to wake up, Izana brought the alarm to your ear. RINGGGGGG!!
"FLYING SUSHI! RUN!" You yelled as you jolted up from your slumber, Izana looked at you confused---trying to not laugh at your sudden outburst.
"Flying sushi? Realy? just what are you dreamin' about?" Izana questioned as he removed his tux and changed back to his comfortable clothes. You just stared at Izana as he removes his clothes, then your eyes grew big at the realization.
"Oh no! 'zana! I'm so sorry! I forgot about the reservation..." You apologized as you try and fix your hair, Izana just smiled at you.
"It's fine hun, I know you were tired and it was my fault for not making sure you were awake. Let's just cook something together for dinner, yeah?" Izana cooed at you as he placed his knee on the bed and gave your forehead a light kiss.
Izana was known for having low patience and knowing that he wasn't mad at you for what had happened, It was a warm feeling. It shows how much he loves you <3
BONUS: Izana demanded to cook all of his favorite food as Pay. No excuses. :>
RINDOU HAITANI
Rindou Haitani...
He is known everywhere as one of the kings of Roppongi alongside his brother, Known for his sadistic behavior of feeling joy whenever he breaks limbs, known for his stoic and stern facade in comparison to his Brother's rather playful behavior. He was feared.
Because of his strong and intimidating aura, you would never guess that he would wear black tights along with an oversized shirt and would do Yoga with you. Not in your home but in a Studio, apparently, Rindou Haitani has a subscription of Yoga lessons near your place.
"Take a deep breath in...thennn...let it all out~" The instructor says, Rindou follows along and so did you. Glancing over at your lover, you stared at him with loving eyes.
"Babe, I can feel you staring at me..." Rindou spoke as he stretches his arms up in the air, you giggled.
"Sorry, I just can't take in the fact that you have a Yoga lesson subscription" You explained to him, to which he opened his eyes and looked at you.
"I have a subscription because it helps me relax and it can also be a reason for me to get away from Ran and all of his stupid antics" Rindou explained in irritation as he took a deep breath once again, sitting down as he stretches his legs up in the air.
"Well, as long as your having fun and you're relaxed." You answered back and continued doing Yoga along with your boyfriend.
BONUS: Ran later found out about you and rindou doing Yoga and he now calls you both the Bendy Wendy Duo...
KISAKI TETTA
Kisaki was tired of everything. That includes Hanma and everyone in Toman. He just wants to get home and rest in your shared bed and cuddle.
Kisaki slowly removed his shoes and loosened his tie as he walks towards you and his bedroom, you weren't there...
"Y/N? My love?" Kisaki called out to you.
"Tetta? I'm in my office!" You yelled, Kisaki quickly made his way to your office and hugged you from behind. You hummed his favorite song softly as you lightly swayed left and right.
"Bad Day?" You asked, to which he nodded. You quickly stood up from your seat and dragged Kisaki to your shared bedroom, you swiftly removed Kisaki's clothes as he sat there looking at you with a soft smile plastered on his face, as soon as you finished dressing him up for bed, he quickly pulled you to lay down next to him.
"I need you, Y/N..." Kisaki mumbled as he nuzzled his face in between your breasts. You giggled.
"Don't worry, baby...I'm here...I love you very much" You mumbled, planting a kiss on his forehead before humming his favorite song again as you played with his soft blonde locks.
Kisaki relaxes at your touch.
This is how life should be, he thought...For once, he felt safe and loved and it was thanks to you...
BONUS: Kisaki never let you go until morning and even called Hanma to tell your boss that you won't be going to work, his excuse was he was still feeling down but in reality, he just wants more of your affection <3

Adopted by whom?
Warnings: lighty mentions of physical abuse
This was my third camp, I was really excited. Even though I knew these womens for only a year, they became like family to me, a few of them were even closer, like Mal and Rose, probably because we are closer to age, so we have a lot of fun together. Tobin and Christen are like moms for me, since the first day of camp they took me under their wings and were super protective, they were worried about my school work and if I ate well or if I drank enough water, even after camp they kept talking and asking how I am, and I talk about them so much that my moms got jealous, and said they are my team moms.
I told this to Tobin and Christen, they laughed at it and began to call me their daughter, so I started to call them mom. They wanted to meet my parents but that didn’t happen yet. Why? Because I didn’t tell them that I am adopted, or that I have two mothers, let alone that one of them is none other than Shannon MacMillan. I know I should but it is a sensitive topic for me and I'm scared that they will treat me differently after they find out about it. That’s why I haven't told anyone on the team about it yet, but I'm thinking about doing so after this camp.
“Kid!! I miss you so much” Tobin ran towards me and gave me a big hug. “Mom, we talked yesterday.” “I know, but I can't hug you on facetime.” “Okay, I miss you too.” “I don’t get a hug?” Christen asked and opened her arms for me to hug her, so I did. “Mama I miss you too.” “Hi sweetie. Excited for camp? How is school?” “The same, boring but my grades are good. And I can't wait for everyone to get here.”
“Siisss!!!” Rose and Mal scream as soon as they spot me in the looby and come running. “Rose!! Mal!! How are you guys?”. We jumped on each other and ended up in the ground on a group hug. “Hey, you weren’t as excited when you saw us. I feel betrayed.” Tobin complained pouting while watching our interaction. “Kids get up before you hurt each other.” Christen separated us and pulled us up. “Sorry mom, but I love you too.” I said to Tobin who still had a pout on her face, so I went and hugged her again.
The rest of the team were finally arriving in the lobby of the hotel, we were talking when Jill spoke up and designated our roommates for this camp, and I was with Tobin. We went up and went to our room. We had lunch soon so we chilled and talked for a bit in our room, until it was time for lunch. So here we are, everyone eating and having fun talking about everything.
On the table was Sonnett, Rose, Linds, Sam, Mal and myself. Sonnett was telling everyone a funny story about her family.
“I’m serious, we were at this party and I kept annoying this girl, who was a douchebag. I forgot about it and started to dance and have some fun, but then suddenly a boy cornered my sister and I heard the girl saying she was the girl who annoyed her and he was about to push her when the parents stepped in. Long story, but in short my sister ended up two days grounded because of that.” “You never told them the truth?” I asked her. “A few years later. They grounded me as well, that was not fun.” “I wish I could have a twin sister, so we could switch places all the time.” Rose commented. “I wish I could have a sister.” Mal complained.
“At least you have your parents all to yourself. You are the favorite.” Sam complained only to be mocked by Linds “Someone is grumpy because it’s not the favorite child.” “And you are?” “Of course.” “Alright, this is not what your brother says.” Sonnett interfered with a smirk. “But I'm for sure not the favorite, my parents don’t hide it.” “Me neither, I’m sure they love me but I have my doubts about who their favorite is. It’s probably Wilma, I don’t blame them.” Everyone laughed at Rose's statement.
Until Mal asked me a question. “What about you Y/n? I’m sure you are your parents favorite.” “Yeah, I don't know. My brother is 10 so... pretty tough competition.” “Wait! You have a brother?” Sonnett asked incredulously. “Yeah.” “Why have we never heard about it? We actually never heard much about your family Y/n.” One of them asked me. Shit, why do I have to open my mouth. “I don’t want to talk about it.” I tried to avoid their eyes so they would know that I didn’t want to talk about it. But Sonnett didn't get it. “Why not? Your parents can’t be that bad?” “Sonnett!! Shut up. Y/n/n, that’s okay, if you don’t want to tell us you don’t have to.” Lindsey said, trying to make me look at them. “But you know that you can tell us everything right?”
I didn’t want to talk about it, and if I stayed one more minute here I would cry, so I decided to leave for my room. “Yeah… I...I think I’m going back to my room. Bye.” “Y/n. Wait! We are not talking about it again. Come back.” Rose tried to stop me, but I stood up so fast that I didn’t even register my surroundings. So as soon as I turned around, I bumped into Ashlyn and her juice spread all over my shirt. Fuck! Ash began to apologise, but now I could feel everyone's eyes on me and all I wanted was to get out of here. “Sorry Speedy, you turn so fast. I…” “That’s okay.” I interrupted her, got free of her hands and walked as fast as I could out of the dinner room.
No one's pov
Meanwhile at the youngies table.
“That was odd.” Sam broke the silence. “I didn’t do it on purpose.” “We know Sonnett. Should we follow her? Or talk to Tobin?” Lindsey asked, trying to comfort Sonnett who was blaming herself for her teammate's outburst.
“Too late for that. Tobin is already coming on her momma bear mode. I’m always scared when she is like this.” Mal spoke looking at Tobin with wide eyes.
“Girls, what happened to Y/n? Why did she get out?” The girls looked at each other until Rose decided to answer Tobin’s question. “We don’t know exactly. We were talking about our families and when we asked about hers she got weird and said she would go to her room.” Tobin sighed and nodded. “Thanks, I will go check on her.”
Tobin pov
I knocked on the door and opened it, when I entered the room I saw Y/n laying on the bed looking at the ceiling.
“Hey, kid. What’s going on?” “Not now Tobin, I just want to be alone for a minute. I’m fine.” “Yeah, you’re not.” Y/n shakes her head and asks. “And how do you know that?” “For starters, you get out of the dinner earlier than usual and without saying goodbye. Then you call me Tobin, you never do that only when you’re not okay.”
With that Y/n sighed and sat on the bed. “It’s just a hard topic for me.” “Your family?” I asked, trying to understand, she just nodded her head.
We stayed in bed for a minute. I waited to see if she was giving me anything else, but that didn’t happen. “Fine, if you don’t want to talk about it, I get it. But let's at least take this shirt off.”
I helped her get up to take the dirty shirt off, but then I looked at her back and saw some scars on it. I was about to take a better look but she quickly pulled back down, trying to hide it. But it was too late, I had already seen it.
“Y/n, what are those marks on your back?” “Are from soccer.” She told me, not looking at me. “I’m not buying it. Tell me the truth.” “It’s nothing Tobin. Give up on this.” “Nope. Right there, you call me Tobin again. Come on kid, you know I won’t give up so soon. So buy us some time and tell me what’s going on.” “It’s hard, Tobs.” “And I’m here by your side, you can tell me everything. But I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s going on.” “Everything is fine now, it’s already in the past. But I'm still learning to trust people, so I normally don’t talk about it with others. I want to, but when I do I cry and I don't want to cry in front of the team.” “Kid, we will never judge you for crying.” “I know but I never had this, not until three years ago. So it is hard to let people in.” “What do you mean? You wanna tell me about it? “
She hesitated for a minute but nodded. She was about to say something when my phone rang. I looked at it and turned off the call, it was Christen but I couldn’t talk right now.
“It’s okay if you need to go. I’ll be fine.” Y/n told me in a low voice. “I’m here for you kid, you can trust me, after all i’m your mom isn’t I?” “Yeah. You are. It’s not actually complicated. It’s just that, my dad abandoned my family when I was 7, a month later my mom found out she was pregnant. Things were already tough, but my mom did everything she could for us to be happy, but a year later she died in a car crash.”
Tears began to fall from her face, so I put my hand on her back trying to comfort her.
“I’m sorry for that Y/n/n. You don’t need to keep going if you don’t want to.” “I want to tell you everything.” After a minute she stopped sobbing and spoke again. “Well, after that my father didn’t want us so we ended up in foster care and that’s why I don’t like to talk about my family. Is not because I don't trust you, but is because for most part of my life I didn't quite have one. I have just a few memories from my biological mother and I had to take care of my little brother during seven years of my life. Is not simple to talk about it. I was abused from the age of 8 until I turned 14 years old. That's where my marks are from, they hit on me just because they wanted to.”
I hugged her, but didn’t say a thing, I knew that’s what she needed right now. After a few minutes I spoke up. “Kid, I had no idea that you passed through this all. But I want to tell you that this doesn't change our relationship, I still love you and will fight everyone who messes with you, and you know Christen will as well.” “Thank you Tobs.”
After a minute of silence, I decided to ask her what I was scared to ask. “This is still happening? I want to do something about it. I won’t let any of this happen to you again.” “No, three years ago me and my brother got adopted. I told you the truth when I told you that everything is good now. They are amazing and are helping me to get better.” “That’s good. That’s why we never meet them? You didn’t want us to know your story?” “Yeah, that’s one of the reasons.” “One?” “Yeah, well the other one you will understand when you see my moms.” “Your moms?” I asked, still not sure I had heard it right. “Yeah, I got adopted by two moms.” “Oh, Megan will love this.” “I know.” “You want to come back for lunch or do you want to stay here?” “Stay here. Can we just watch a movie?” “Fine, but I choose.”
I jumped on top of her and got the remote so I could choose the movie. “No way, we are on my bed, so I choose.” She got the remote from my hands. “No no, I'm your mother so I choose.” “There’s nothing to do with it. I won’t give it to you.” “Yes you are.”
With that I began to tickle her, trying to get the remote back. Then there was a knock on the door and it opened, but we were too occupied to see who it was. “Okay kids, let's stop the fight.” Oh, that’s Chris. “Tell that to Tobs, she is the one attacking me.” “I see.” Christen separated us. “How are my girls? I’ve been told that I should come here to check on you both, but by the look of things I guess that is all sorted out now.” I looked at Y/n and she had a smile on her face. “I think we are better now right?” “Yeah, much better. Thank you Tobs.” “Of course, I'll always be here for you.” She hugged me and I gave a kiss on her head.
“Oh, I feel left out now.” “Sorry Chris, but Tobs will tell you everything later. But I know I can count on you as well. I’m going to change my shirt now and wash my red face.”
Y/n stood up and left the remote on the bed. “Yes, I got the remote.” I could see Y/n shaking her head and then closing the bathroom door, Chris came to me, gave me a quick peck and asked me what happened.
Your pov
I went to the bathroom to change my shirt and clean myself, and I could hear Tobin telling Christen a little bit of what I told her. “‘What was that about?’ ‘The girls were talking about family stuff on the table and the topic is a little complicated for her. She lost her mom really young and lived in foster care most part of her life, and just recently got adopted. I tell you more later, don’t worry about it.’” I’m glad I finally got to share my story with someone else, and it is no surprise that the two of them were the first to know, I like them a lot.
While I was in the bathroom my phone started to ring.
“Kid, your phone is ringing and is your mom. She wants to facetime.” Tobin yelled from the bed. “Which one?” I yelled back. “Humm… mom Mac?!” Oh, maybe that is a great time to introduce them.
“Could you answer for me? I’m almost finishing.” “Me?” “Yeah, you didn’t want to meet her? That’s the time. She wants to talk to you both as well.” There was a silence in the room, until Chris spoke. “I don’t think that is a good idea.” “You’ll like to talk with her. Don’t you trust me?” “Fine.” Tobin answered me and accepted the call, ready to talk to my mom.
“Hi hon… Oh, hi Tobin!” I could hear my mom speaking. I was already changed, but I wanted to see their reactions while meeting my mom. “Hi… wait your Shannon MacMillan.” Toby speaks and stays with an open mouth. “Yes, and I was told that you are my daughter’s roommate. Oh, hi Christen I didn't see you before. How are you doing?” “Your daughter?” Now was Christen's time to stay in shock. “Yeah Y/n. Is she alright?” “Yeah, but… what?” Tobin was speechless, so I decided to intervene.
“Oh hi mom, sorry I was in the bathroom.” “Hi honey and taking by Tobin and Christen's faces I believe you hadn’t told them about me, am I right?” “Maybe? I actually didn’t tell anyone on the team, I dodged their questions about my family. You know how I am, I wanted them to get to know me first.” “I know.” “But I had told Tobin almost everything, I just kept your name out of it. She saw my scars and made me explain it.” I lightly elbowed Tobin, trying to take her off her transe. “Made you?” I think it worked. “Y/n!!”
“I’m kidding, kind of. She just got overprotective and wanted to punch the person who made me those, so I had to explain the story to her.” “Yeah, I was right she is definitely your team mom. And don’t worry Tobin, they are already taken care of.” Tobin laughed and poked me in my sides “I told you, now even your mom agrees with me. But I gotta say this is kind of crazy.” “Whatever, that doesn't mean you can choose the movie.” “Movie?” Mom asked, not quite understanding what we were talking about. So Chris came to the rescue. “When I got here they were in a tickle fight, because Tobin wanted to choose the Netflix movie and Y/n had the remote.” I completed it. “Christen saves me, but then Tobin got the remote, so it looks like we will be seeing her movie.”
“Seems like you’re having fun. I just called to tell you that the thing you buy on the internet has arrived, I hid it in the garage. I'm sure your mama won’t find it there.” Great, my mama birthday present has arrived. “Cool, and is everything ok?” “Yes, as we expected. We’ll call you later to talk more, I just took that I was alone now so I could warn you.” “Thanks mom.” “Bye honey. Bye Tobin and Christen.” “Bye Shannon.” They say in unison.
So I turned off the call and looked at them, they had a surprised look on their face so I got ready for the questions. Mainly the questions were about why I didn't tell them or the team about it, how I ended up with them and I had to explain my whole story again for Christen. In the end, it was already time for team meeting and we were getting ready to go.
As we waited for the elevator, I remembered to ask them something. “Guys, please don’t tell the team nothing about it.” “Why not? Speedy, I already told you that they won’t treat you any different.” Tobin scolded me. “I just... I will tell them when I feel comfortable, but for now just keep this secret for me. Please mom!!” “You can’t pull the mom card like this.” “Why not? You told yourself that you’re my team mom.” Tobin kept staring at me until she gave up. “Fine. But I think you should at least tell them about your mom, because if they find out about it from another person they're gonna be mad.” Christen punches Tobin in the arm. “Tobin! They are not gonna be mad at you Y/n. Just at the moment, and then they will just fill you with questions. But the last part is going to happen either way.” “Oh, so different from what I said.” Tobin said with sarcasm, but Christen sent her a killer look. “Sorry! But if by any chance, someone annoys you because of who your mother is, tell me and I will kick their ass.” Tobin told me with a serious look.
“You mean if they mocked me because Tobin Heath is my mom?” I tried to contain my laugh. “Oh, shut up!!” She got my head and began to rub it. “Mom stop!!” “Kids stop with it. Let’s go or we are gonna be late.”
With that we entered the elevator and I could see that Chris had a worried face on. My story must have affected her, she has a sad expression, so I decided to lighten her mood a little bit. “Oh Christen, you don’t need to be mad. You and mom are a couple, so that means you are my mom as well.” I hugged her and she kissed my head. She tightened the hug, and I knew some tears were rolling down her face. “Thank you Y/n, you for sure can come for me anytime you need. I’ll always be here for you.” “I know. You’re the mom I listen to but also the mom who grounds me, and Tobin is the mom who takes me out of the ground, and also the one who tries to cover my mess.” Christen rolled her eyes, understanding what I was trying to do. She cleaned the tears that had fallen out and shook her head, but now with a smile on her face. Tobin on the other hand protested. “I would never do that Christen!” “Why can't I believe that?”
With that the elevator door opened and Christen got out first, then Tobin raised her hand for me to hit it. I love these two. We got to team meeting and discussed our training sessions, how our week is going to be and other things. The meeting took about an hour. After it, the whole team went to dinner, me and Tobin were talking about the conversation we had early about my past soccer teams and how my mom is a crazy fan, so we got our food and sat at some table don’t even looking to see who was on the other ones. But as we were talking Christen, Megan, Ash, Julie, Ali, Alyssa and Carli sat at our table as well.
“I’m telling you Tobs, once she got so mad about a bad call that she almost got inside the field to yell at the referee, luckily my 9 years old brother stopped her.” Tobin was laughing her ass out. “I would die to see that.” “Who did that?” Megan asked, breaking the bubble we were on. I then noticed everyone else that was on the table with us.
“What?” I asked, not quite sure what she was talking about. “Who almost got in the field?” “My mom.” “Oh…” “She seems cool.” Ash responded. “She is, when she is not mad. Despite that, she is awesome, my family is really supportive.” “Your brother plays soccer as well?” Alis asked. “No, he hates sports. But he loves to cheer for me, so he goes for all the games he can.” “Oh, this is so cute, I would love to meet him.” JJ awed with my answer. “He for sure will love to go to the mall with you and Chris, I can guarantee that he would be a better company then Tobs.” “Hey kid! You are just as bad as I am.” Tobin protested. “Ok you're right. But I’m telling the truth, he and my mom go on walks for hours.” “I’m certainly taking him out when we meet him.” Chris gave me a wink, letting me know that this was for sure happening some time soon.
“And who encouraged you to play soccer? Your mom or your dad?” Alyssa asked, wanting to know more about my family. I took a big breath and answered her. “Oh, it’s a little more complicated than that. But I can for sure tell you that it was not my father.” “Why is that? He doesn't like sports?”
I take a look at Tobin and Christen and them both nod their heads encouraging me to tell them. “No, it’s because… I don't have a father, at least not one that I care about.” “Sorry I didn’t want to put you through that.” Alyssa told me with a worried expression. “That’s fine, I'm ok with that now.” “So is it just you, your brother and your mom?” Ali asked. “Well, my moms.” “Excuse me?” Megan almost spilled all the water she was drinking with the new information. “My moms. Me, my brother and my two moms.” “Oh, that is awesome. I already liked you before, now I like you even more.” Megan cheered and high five me. “Because of my parents?” “Yeah, you were already cool, now that I know that you for sure support my community you got points with me. Tell me about them!” “They are awesome, I've only been with them for three years, but they changed my life when they adopted me.” Ops! Shouldn’t have said the last part. “Wait, you are adopted?” Ali asked. “Yep.”
“Who is adopted?” Emily asked while getting close to the table. “Y/n” Alyssa answered. “What? You never told us.” Mal and the other youngies were all surrounding us now. “That’s why you run away during lunch?” I looked around and by now the whole team was at the table listening to the conversation.
“So about that…” I look at Tobin and send her a ‘help me’ look, she quickly understands me and steps up. “Guys, less questions okay? If she hasn't told us about it yet it’s because she is not comfortable with it, so let’s give her time.”
Everyone nodded, but Megan was still interested in my family. “Fine, but I want to know more about your moms okay?” “That I can do, but I think you already know at least one of them.”
I took my phone and showed her a picture of my family. Her mouth drops and she passes the phone for Ash, who passes to Ali, who passes to Carli, who finally says something.
“Wait a minute, your mom is Shannon MacMillan?” “Yeah.”
Everybody's jaw drops, except for Christen and Tobin because they already knew, and the questions started again. I finally told them my story and Tobin was right, they were really supportive and of course asked a lot of questions, but I'm fine with it. They are my family now.
