Night Naven College was an all-boys school. Always has been. You were the first exception to that. You were the only girl who ended up becoming a student.
When Kalim first met you he never paid mine to that fact. To Kalim you were Just another student ; a new friend to be made. However, after getting closer to you the housewarden couldn't deny the fact you made his chest feel all fuzzy.
He's always surrounding himself with people but you're his favorite person to be around. He will always try and seek you out in a crowd because you were the one who made his heart beat so fast.
He loved the way you'd run a hand through his hair whenever he'd lay on your lap or the fact you were always down with whatever he came up with. How you truly did care for the people around you.
You were perfect in Kalim’s eyes.
Kalim ended up mentioning these feelings to Jamil offhandedly; Which after a little talk with him. He came to the conclusion he liked you. Not just in his usual friendly way either. He was head over heels.
However you being the only girl meant you had many eyes on you no doubt. It's always been that way since you became a student however Kalim only started paying attention to it once he recognized his crush.
He couldn't help the way his chest turned whenever another would give you big puppy eyes or would be overly friendly with you. He didn't get it. You weren't his…yet. So why does he get jealous so easily?
He couldn't blame others for liking you. You were well you. You were smart, kind and pretty, how couldn't they fall for you? He just wished he had all your attention sometimes even if it did feel selfish.
He'd often subconsciously glare at others who linger on you too long. He'd also be quick to kill you closer to him in a crowded area or lead you somewhere else all together just to get your full attention. It was clear to most people he had a thing for you.
Kalim fidgeted and watched as the pink haired boy shyly handed you a bracelet. It was just made out of colorful rubber bands. He could give you something much nicer… but you looked so happy receiving it.
Was it the thought that counted? Is that why you took it and smiled so brightly? Kalim slightly pouted to himself. He felt so uncomfortable. He wasn't used to being jealous. He wanted to be the one to make you smile like that.
The snowy hair bit his lip as he remembered the conversation he and Jamil had a few days earlier.
“You know Kalim you should tell her how you feel, she's not exactly going to be on the market forever you know” Jamil spoke, dusting the shelf that had started to collect dust.
Kalim huffed and groaned. Jamil was right. You weren't going to just be up for grabs forever. But how would he just tell you how he feels…
This was too complicated! Kalim wasn't used to not being able to express how he felt. He wants to tell you that you mean a lot to him. Which he does all the time but he wants you to know he doesn't mean it in the same way he means to his other friends.
He wants you to know you're special, that you're an even brighter star compared to him. Yet he's afraid that he'll mess everything up. What if you don't feel the same way about him? Kalims frown deepened and he sighed, slumping his shoulders.
Kalim played with the bracelet in his hands. Was this good enough? He made it himself with charms that reminded him of you. He didn't register the sound of footsteps approaching behind him.
“Good afternoon Kalim!” your voice rang out. The house warden basically sprung up, a smile spreading across his face upon hearing your voice. He turned and shoved the bracelet into his pocket.
“Hi, name!” He chirped, hugging you tightly. You let out a soft chuckle before wrapping your arms around him as well. He pulled away with a big dopey smile. You tilted your head and looked around.
“Jamil, is he not with you?” you asked. Kalim shook his head. You let out a hum before shrugging lightly. You flashed him a smile causing blood to rush to his cheeks.
“Well it's nice to catch you alone for once you always seem to be around someone, sometimes it's nice when it's just the two of us” you spoke, Kalim’s red eyes watched you.
He couldn't help the way his smile got bigger at your words. He felt the same way; it made his heart leap.
“Yup…just the two of us!” He exclaimed, his voice a little higher in pitch. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, his fingers running over the bracelet. He was about to speak before you cut him off.
“You don't have any more classes today right?” You asked, turning your full attention to the house warden once more. Kalim nodded his head.
“Great, would you mind if I hung out in scarabia with you?” You said with a small tilt of your head.
“No, I wouldn't mind at all!” The snowy hair perked up.
On the walk there it was like Kalim was hyper aware of every guy to look in your direction. It made him feel so bad for feeling so bitter about it but he couldn't help it. Couldn't these guys just mind their own business?
You seemed to take notice of his demeanor being off“You okay, Kalim?” you asked softly, your voice laced with concern. Your hand gently tugging on his sleeve.
Kalim blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. “Huh? Oh! Yeah, I’m fine! Totally fine!” He gave you a wide smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. Odd.
You raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. “Are you sure? You’ve been kind of quiet.”
He swallowed nervously. You knew him too well. “I guess… I’ve just been thinking a lot lately,” he admitted, his voice softer.
You tilted your head, curiosity sparkling in your eyes. “Thinking? About what?”
Kalim hesitated for a moment before taking a deep breath. “I’ve been thinking about… you,” he confessed, his cheeks flushing a deep red. He couldn’t meet your gaze, his eyes glued to the ground.
“And how… you make me really happy.”
His words caught you off guard and you looked up at him. “I make you happy?” you repeated, a small smile tugging at your lips.
Kalim nodded quickly, his usual energy bubbling to the surface despite his nerves. “Yeah! Like, more than anyone else. I love being around you, and I always want to make you smile. But lately, I’ve been feeling… different.”
“And what do you mean by different?” You spoke moving closer to him. Your chest swirling with an …off but comforting feeling.
“Well it's just I… I get all weird whenever other guys start paying attention to you…” He admitted sheepishly. Your grin turned a bit more teasing.
“Awh, sounds like you're jealous,” you teased. His face redder a bit and he looked away.
“I …am” he responded. You weren't expecting him to just openly admit it. You blinked and recollected your thoughts. You cleared your throat before speaking.
“Well that's actually kind of nice… to know you care enough to get jealous over me out of all people” you said, your tone a bit quieter now.
“Well of course I care about you…”
It got quiet for a bit. Neither of you speaking, just watching each other.
Kalim fidgeted with the bracelet still in his pocket, finally pulling it out and holding it out to you. “ Oh I made this for you. I’ve been trying to find the right time to give it to you…"
Your eyes softened as you reached out to take the bracelet, your fingers brushing against his. The charms were small but thoughtful .
“Kalim… it’s beautiful,” you whispered, slipping it onto your wrist.
“Thank y-”
“I-I like you!” he blurted out, his words tumbling over each other in his excitement. “Not just as a friend. I mean… I really really like you. You’re amazing, and I don’t want to keep it to myself anymore.”
Your eyes widened in surprise, but your smile grew even brighter. “Kalim…”
He held his breath, waiting for your response. His heart pounded so loudly he was sure you could hear it.
“I like you too,” you said softly. “I’ve liked you for a while now.”
Kalim’s eyes lit up like fireworks, a beaming grin spreading across his face. “You do? Really?”
You nodded, reaching out to take his hand. “Really. You’re the brightest part of my day, Kalim.”
Unable to contain his excitement, Kalim pulled you into a tight hug, spinning you around. You yelped in surprise.
As he set you down, still holding your hand, he looked at you with a warmth that made your cheeks flush.
“So… does this mean I can be your boyfriend?” he asked with a hopeful grin.
You chuckled softly and nodded. “I’d love that.”
Kalim’s heart soared. He never imagined this moment could feel so perfect. You were his now — and he was yours. Nothing could make him happier.
Jamil would never hear the end of how much he loves his girlfriend.

Left Behind in Unsolicited Matrimony
Yandere Kalim
Masterlist | Beyond the Glitter of Gold
still can't think of a good title :/ been stuck on this fic for so long it's not even funny ;-; not edited cause I'm just happy to get it out finally!! (p.s. i play en server with no spoilers so no spoilers please)
Tumblr media
“W-wait,” Kalim stammered out, the tanned boy looking uncharacteristically even as the celebrations around him continued on without missing a beat. Heartbeat hammering away in his ears, garnet red eyes that would fit right in amidst the priceless stones of the Asim family’s collection were wide as they glanced between his parents. “What do you mean?”
”We have to celebrate your engagement, of course,” his father chuckled, gesturing at the full-on festival playing out in front of him, the gold and priceless jewels twinkling like stars down from the ceiling of the grand hall. “How could we not? It is a most joyous occasion.”
His heart skipped countless beats as it set a vicious beat in his chest, though his mind seemed to barely notice, thoughts pounding away against his skull like a jackhammer. The world around him felt like it was swirling along with the dancing guests even as he stood in place, his feet rooted in place as if an old tree from a bygone era. And his face looked the part as well, drained of all blood, every breath feeling more like a fight against heaving up everything he had eaten in the past twelve hours.
Engagement. An engagement. Of all things to deal with- Mind whirling, the tanned boy would have succumbed to his jelly legs if his mother hadn’t been holding on to him. What should he do now?
”Oh don’t worry about anything dear, we’ll have everything settled,” his mother reassured as she lightly squeezed his hand, no doubt mistaking the growing look of horror on his face for nervousness. “You don’t have to do anything at all.”
That was the furthest thing from his concern, was what he wanted to scream at the thought of his lungs, though Kalim couldn’t exactly voice that sentiment, the ornate gold jewelry that decorated his tanned skin jingling slightly as his arms fell listlessly to his side. What had gone wrong for him to be in this situation? “But why?” The Scarabia housewarden asked shakily. “I thought-”
“Well, we set it all up for you as a surprise! Your birthday is so soon, we couldn’t help it,” the older lady continued, grinning from ear to ear as she nudged her son playfully, her eyes slightly glassy as she harkened back to those good ol’ days. “And we found the perfect girl for you. You remember her, don’t you Kalim? That girl you tailed around so much when the two of you were kids.”
Yet despite his parents’ hearty laughs as they exchanged memories and stories about the silly, happy child from his past, the glitter and glamor and the cheers that surrounded him, no matter how he tried with his usual brightside glasses, Kalim couldn’t make himself see the upside of this situation he found himself in. Turning it upside down, inside out, all he could see was that should he simply agree, there would be but a single path for him to follow, a path he had no will to see through, and no way out.
Because there was no future the white-haired boy wanted to be a part of that didn’t include you.
To his right, a nameless servant scrambling forward caught Kalim’s eye, the man respectfully pouring out another glass of wine for the Asim matriarch before disappearing back into the shadows. It wasn’t anything momentous by any stretch of the imagination - in fact, it would have happened dozens of times a day, but that was all it took to drag the thought of you straight to the front of his brain again: the silent labor of the Asim staff would have been another part of his life he wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for you pointing it out. You were everywhere, everything.
And then of course, the question of you. What about you?
Whirling around, eyes that could have been mistaken for shimmering rubies under the candlelight of the chandeliers overhead desperately searched the joyous, dancing crowds for you. And he found you quickly enough in a quiet corner of the hall, one gentle hand wrapped delicately around a glass of some kind, your silhouette hidden partially behind a set of drapes. Yes, there would be where he expected you to be, given you had always preferred the calm and silence as opposed to this chaotic party vibe not too dissimilar to Scarabia’s on a regular day.
This was supposed to have been nothing more than a prime opportunity to show you the wonders and splendors of his homeland, the Land of the Scalding Sands. Sure, you weren’t particularly favorable towards the riches and glamor that were the cornerstone of his life, refusing to accept even a single bangle that he hardly knew existed without being all but begged and whined into giving in; but the white-haired housewarden wanted you to see what laid beyond just the Asim family and their vast wealth. The depth of history of the land and people that grew side by side, the vibrant colors of its culture and heritage; there was so much to be seen and experienced. He fell in love with it, its past, present and future, over and over again, so maybe you would too.
All daydreams of the could-be were however shattered in an instant, when from a slight shift of your figure revealed your companion to be none other than Leona Kingscholar, that braided mane of dark brown hair and lion ears unmistaken.
Kalim’s gut dropped. Wait. When was he invited? More importantly, why were you talking to him?
All logic pointed to Leona having been invited by the Asim family, being the second prince of the Sunset Savannah and Kalim’s upperclassman. But watching you chattering along with the tanned beastman without missing a beat like old friends, it didn’t feel right for him to just be standing here. And you only confirmed his worst fears when you chuckled at something the Savanaclaw housewarden said, to which the other laughed along, his hair swaying elegantly with his moment with an ease Kalim would never hope to be able to achieve. Was that a blush on your cheeks?!
The niggling doubt started to emerge, a trickle at first, taunting voices emerging like a hidden spring seeping out of freshly defrosted ground. And then it began to pour out as the floodgates opened, an uncontrollable torrent. You had no interest in Kalim, they whispered, no matter what he did. You would never be interested in him, not while he still had so many competitors for your eye.
Jealousy that Kalim never knew he possessed snared his heart, ugly, ugly feelings that he never wanted to acknowledge he even had in him making themselves known.
All he could see was you and Leona, the rest of the world blurred into a background blob, the ringing in his ears only growing louder with every passing second as your infuriating conversation continued blissfully unaware of his stares.
If only. If only Leona wasn’t there. There was nothing more that Kalim wanted in the moment but to hurt the Sunset Savannah prince, wanted to get rid of him, to make sure he leaves and never be able to speak with you again; the feeling churned deep in his chest, a rage ignited that he couldn’t seem to control, his fists both balled up tight to his side. He could make it happen, couldn’t he? The voices taunted, the light breeze as if they were brushing up against his ear. Even if he wasn’t royalty and Leona was, Kalim could wield the might of his family and make it happen.
You seemed to have felt his stare on you, the Scarabia housewarden subtly noted, as you shifted, looking around for the gaze on you.
It took but a blink as your eyes met his for Kalim to shake back to reality, watching your face visibly brighten as you started to make your way towards him, threading your way through the crowd as you eagerly waved in his direction. His world instantly lightened along with your expression, his once-heavy heart even starting to flutter slightly, though that warm feeling didn’t last long, his parents still musing the good ol’ times to the side catching the corner of his eyes.
Actually, come to think of it, this really was one of those times he rather you weren’t here.
It was too late for that now, and the grin he forced himself to wear felt unusually uncomfortable.
”Here you are, Kalim! We’ve been looking all over for you,” your footsteps stuttered to a pause, and you leaned in slightly, the concern washing over your expression. “You look pale! Are you alright?”
“Oh! You must be the classmates we’ve heard so much about!” The Asim matriarch stepped forward, grabbing your hand and giving it an enthusiastic shake. “Welcome to the Scalding Sands! Kalim’s just a bit too nervous right now since we’ll be announcing his engagement."
But you didn’t seem to notice the horror once more setting in on the young Asim’s face as that wretched word fell out of his mother’s mouth again, your hand instead flying up to cover your mouth in surprise. “Oh! Congratulations Kalim!” His gaze instantly snapped to you. No. It wasn’t true. You weren’t supposed to know that. He didn’t want to be engaged.
What the white-haired boy wanted was to deny, deny, deny everything and anything to you, but his mouth was dry and his voice didn’t seem to want to work. And so all he could do was watch.
“Yes, thank you,” his father graciously accepted, shaking your hand once his mother finally let go. “We’re so very excited.”
“I’m sure you have a lot to discuss, so I will take my leave,” you politely nodded, excusing yourself from the situation.
Leona wasn’t far behind, that infuriating smirk decorating his face as he too said his congratulations before sauntering off after you, and Kalim’s garnet eyes trailing your pair up till the two of you disappeared from the hall to parts unknown.
He was the one that had asked to bring friends over, and had been caught with his metaphorical pants down. How was he supposed to get out of this situation now? Chasing after you was what his heart was screaming at him, and dealing with Leona his mind, yet he simply stood, rooted to the spot, usual impulsive nature nowhere to be found.
“-so, would you like to meet her?”
Kalim turned almost robotically at the question, his gaze blank, unfocused. “What?”
“Your finance,” his father clarified rather unhelpfully, the older man tiptoeing slightly to look around the vast hall. “I’m sure she’s somewhere here, I can call her over-”
“M-maybe later,” Kalim interjected hastily, though as much as he wanted to chase after you immediately, that would have to wait. “How bout, how bout I-” Scanning the hall instead and leaving his sentence uncompleted, Jamil was easy enough to pick out amidst the sea of guests dressed to the nines, his simple outfit and golden hair ornaments making enough of a contrast to highlight the needle in the haystack. And no doubt his trusted friend and vice-housewarden had seen what had gone down, judging from those furrowed eyebrows and concerned stare.
A quick nod from the other and Jamil was off, quick footsteps carrying the black-haired boy down the same path you had taken just minutes earlier.
With that situation now under careful watch, Kalim turned back to his parents, laughing nervously. “How bout I go and check on the guests first?
He needed to get to you.
Fast.

Twisted Weddings: Photoshoot #4 - Such a Blessing - Kalim

Crewel tilted his head, frowning slightly as he looked between me and the perfectly giddy Kalim, who already had my hand clasped in his warm one.
“I wasn’t sure about designing a bridal outfit that is more traditional to the Scalding Sands, but…. I think it’s worked out rather nicely,” Crewel finally nodded as he spoke, and I glanced down at the shirt and skirt, or rather, lehenga, that I wore.
Brilliant red with shiny gold embroidery covering both the short-sleeved bodice and the perfectly massive lehenga skirt that had about three layers in total.
“I think it looks great! If you want, I can give you some more jewelry to wear with it to complete the look!” Kalim looked between me and Crewel excitedly.
Both of us shook our heads hurriedly, apparently agreeing that I was already bedecked in enough gold, even as Kalim frowned in obvious confusion before he quickly recovered, “So what are we going to be doing?”
Crewel tilted his head as he eyed us, “Hmm, I was considering something that would show off the full breadth of the skirt, but now that we’re here……”
“I could kiss Y/n on the cheek!” I blinked at Kalim’s words in surprise, turning to look his way as he outright beamed at Crewel, who stared back at him in surprise that was similar to mine.
Kalim continued though, happily explaining himself as he glanced between me and our instructor, “I’ve seen my parent’s wedding pictures, and one of my mom’s favorites has my dad kissing her on the cheek! She always looks so happy when she sees that picture. In fact, her smile is the exact same as the one she has in the picture!”
Crewel nodded, still looking half-surprised as his gaze met mine and I lifted my shoulder in a half-shrug, largely unbothered by Kalim’s suggestions. It wasn’t like it would be the first time he gave me a kiss of some sort to display his occasionally overwhelming affection,  “Well, it sounds like a cute enough picture; it’s your line of wedding clothes, though.”
“No, it suits me if you’re fine with it.” The instructor shook his head at my words as he continued, “I’ll go tell the photographer, so you two can get in position whenever you’re ready.”
I felt myself smile slightly as I glanced back over towards Kalim only to find the young man already smiling brightly at me.
His hand found mine, clasping it tightly as he continued to beam, “Mom’ll be so happy when she sees these pictures! I bet she’ll want to meet you and everything!”
I felt myself chuckle slightly at his joyful nature even as I tilted my head at him, “Did you already tell your parents that you were going to be a model for Crewel’s line of bridal clothes?”
He shook his head, laughing in that perfectly carefree nature of his, “Nah, but my mom likes looking at wedding dresses, so I know she’ll see the images! She says wedding pictures make her happy.”
“We’re going to have to take these pictures quickly since it’s getting overcast. Are you two ready?” I straightened at the photographer's words. But he was right. Dark clouds were already overhead, and I couldn’t help but wonder if it would mess up the lighting for the pictures.
At odds with worries, Kalim was wholly unbothered as he glanced up towards the heavens above us, “Oh, do you think it’ll rain? That would make for a really great picture!”
I glanced at him, half-confused by his words as I frowned slightly, tilting my head at the perpetually bubbly young man, “Because a rainy wedding day is supposed to be good luck?”
He laughed at my words, shaking his head, “No, I just think it would be nice. Rain is always such a blessing after all.”
His red eyes were bright as he grinned at me. Almost brighter than the red of my outfit, and I felt myself smile at his words. Idly wondering how he could be quite so positive about everything, even as I nodded, finding myself squeezing his hand slightly as I spoke, “Let’s hope for the best then.”
He squeezed my hand lightly in return, his expression briefly softening before he looked back over towards where Crewel and the photographer both stood and waved with his free hand, “We’re ready!”
The photographer gave a thumbs up and held up his camera at almost the same time it started to drizzle.
And though I had no idea how he managed to time it quite so perfectly, Kalim tugged me over and kissed me lightly on the cheek, causing me to laugh slightly at his eagerness at the precise moment that the camera flashed. Capturing and immortalizing the moment for eternity as Kalim burst into laughter from beside me.
Wholly unbothered by the rain that was steadily picking up even as Crewel shook his head at us with a distinctly fond smile. But at this point, I felt like most people were fond of Kalim.
Because when it came right down to it, it was hard to be frustrated with Kalim, and the young man always seemed to cause people to smile when he was nearby.
And even without either Crewel or the photographer saying anything as they both peered at the picture on the camera’s screen, I had no doubts that the photograph was perfect.

Lately, he had been pulling away.
Not obviously— Kalim wasn’t good at being distant, not when he wanted to be near you. But he had started second-guessing things.
The grand gestures. The spontaneous gifts. The carefree way he invited you into his world without a second thought.
Because what if you were suffocating too?
Jamil’s words haunted him.
"We were never friends. You were my master."
It was the first time someone had looked at him— really looked at him— and told him the truth.
Jamil, who had been with him since they were kids, who had always been there, always by his side… had never been by his side at all.
Had it always been like that?
Kalim had spent his whole life giving. Sharing. He thought it was enough. He thought it was right.
But Jamil had never wanted any of it. And Kalim had been too blind to see it.
Now, when he looked at you, he wondered— had he done the same to you?
You noticed, of course.
“Kalim?” You frowned as he hesitated before grabbing your hand. He had never hesitated before. “Are you okay?”
His usual response would have been a bright "Of course!" or a quick deflection, maybe even an offer to take you somewhere fun.
But this time, he only smiled— and it didn’t reach his eyes.
“Yeah, I just… I was thinking. About us.”
You stiffened, just barely. He caught it.
“Are you—” You swallowed. “Are you breaking up with me?”
His heart lurched. “No! No, never!” He shook his head too fast, almost panicked. “I just… I don’t know if I’m doing things right.”
“Right?” Your brows furrowed. “Kalim, what are you talking about?”
He took a breath.
“I don’t want to be—” He stopped, words catching in his throat. Your master. Your burden. Your golden cage.
Jamil’s voice echoed in his head. You’re just doing whatever you want.
Was he? Was he forcing you into his world, trapping you with his kindness, never once thinking if you wanted it at all?
“I don’t want to be someone you feel stuck with.”
Your expression softened, but it didn’t make him feel any better.
“Kalim… you’re not.”
That was what he wanted to hear. What he should believe.
But Jamil had said the same things, hadn’t he? Smiled, nodded, told him it was fine— all while drowning in a role he never wanted.
Kalim had been too naive to see it before. But now, he couldn’t stop seeing it.
“You can tell me the truth,” he said, voice quieter than usual. “If you ever feel like it’s too much.”
You stared at him. And for the first time, he was afraid of the answer.
That night, Kalim sat in his room, staring at the golden trinkets he had gathered over the years. Gifts, treasures, pieces of a world so full, yet so empty.
He had never questioned his place before. Never questioned the way he loved, the way he cared, the way he gave.
But if he had been wrong about Jamil— what if he was wrong about you, too?
What if all this time, he had only been keeping you chained?

Family tradition ( Kalim Al Asim x Female Reader)
Genre: Marriage life, fluff
After knowing Kalim's family, you were left in tears with the new situation you were in...
Tumblr media
Despite having your entire life meticulously arranged by your parents and being accustomed to following their directives without question, you had always been comfortable letting them make the decisions for you. From your appearance to your behaviour and lifestyle, you had become accustomed to relying on them to make all the decisions for you.
Even when it came to your eventual marriage. Therefore, you made no objection or argument when they revealed that they had arranged a marriage for you, this time to the renowned and extremely affluent Al Asim family.
Coming from a very traditional family, you were raised under the strict rule that you were not permitted to meet your future husband before the wedding day. Your family believed that true love would blossom after marriage. With no prior knowledge of your betrothed, you only knew his name and receive a picture of him. His baby face gave you a hit with anxiety for the man you would be married. How old this man to secure such a face?
The wedding was an extravagant and grand affair, with golden decorations and a spacious venue that attracted the attendance of almost all the notable figures from Scalding Sand. In the midst of all the opulent grandeur, you found yourself feeling overwhelmed and nervous, intimidated by the thought of marrying into such a prominent family.
However, when you finally came face to face with Kalim for the first time, all those feelings disappeared. He did not resemble the childlike persona you had envisioned, instead presenting himself as a mature, kind-hearted gentleman.
"Don't be so nervous, wifey. I want you to enjoy our wedding. This is my preparation to welcome you."
Kalim's gentle and reassuring smile, coupled with his tender touch as he caressed your back, instantly ignited a smile on your lips. From that moment on, you knew deep down that this man was the perfect husband for you. The days passed by peacefully as you savored every moment of your marriage with Kalim, and you poured your heart and soul into being the best partner you could possibly be for him.
As time passed by, you getting known Kalim better, and you fell deeper in love with him. . Everyday was filled with happiness. He was like an otter, watching you with that pair of doe eyes while showing off his water power to you, making a whole waterpark for the both of you.
As time went on, you grew to know Kalim better, and found yourself falling deeper in love with him each day. His adorable and cheerful nature brought immense joy to your life, and every single day was filled with laughter and joy.
You just could not stand a cute ad adorable guy like your husband. Kalim was like a playful otter, watching you affectionately with his big doe eyes, and would often display his skills with water magic to entertain you, creating a private waterpark just for the two of you.
Even his habit of sleeping in late, it brought a sense of delight to you, as it gave you the chance to gaze upon his peaceful, sleeping face each morning. Sounds so unlike you but marriage life changed you a lot, but marriage had undeniably changed you in various ways.
When Kalim claimed that he wanted to bring you to meet his whole big family, your desire to impress everyone was very high. You wear the best clothes that day and already practicing all the etiquette that is required as part of the Al Asim family. A gentle smile remained on your lips as Kalim introduced you as his wife.
When Kalim announced that he wished for both of you to meet his extensive family, your determination to impress each and every member was stronger than ever. You carefully selected your finest outfit for the occasion and spent hours meticulously rehearsing all the proper etiquette expected within the Al Asim family. Throughout the entire process, a gentle smile never left your lips as Kalim proudly introduced you as his wife.
"Mother! This is my pretty wifey!"
"Mama, this is my partner for life"
"Mummy, my wifey is very gorgeous right?"
Wa-wait! What was this? Why did your husband call a different woman as his mother? Then, who did you meet on your wedding day? You were left puzzled and surprised. When the long introduction finally ended, you quickly confronted Kalim about the issue.
"Dear, why did you address different women as your mother?"
"Because they are all my mother?"
"They are all your mother?!"
"Ohh, I get it what you're confused about. Father married a lot back then but you met my birth mother on our wedding day. I also have a lot of grandmothers. We keep their portraits in a room, let's me bring you-"
Kalim quickly stopped talking as you started to cry silently. It was his family tradition and you should respect it. You knew that. You were nothing compared to his family but still, you did not want to share your cutie pie with anyone.
"Ehhh! Why are you crying? Is it because you're already tired? We-we can postpone seeing all the portraits. Let's rest for the day" Kalim tenderly wiped your tears with his thumb as he was worried over your well-being.
"It's not that..." With a shaky voice, you hugged Kalim tightly, trying to compose yourself before confessing your feelings.
"How many siblings do you have, dear?"
"At least... 30. I'm sure it's more than that"
"More than 30?! That's a lot!" In a sudden and unexpected turn of events, you blurted out, "Kalim, I promise to give you 20 children, so please, NEVER marry another woman.
"Ahh screw it! Kalim, I know you love having a big family. I will try to give you 20 children but please don't, NEVER marry another woman, pleasee"
"So, my sweet wifey... Is the reason you cried? because you don't want me to marry another woman?" You nodded, confirming his suspicions, feeling relieved that he had correctly identified the cause of your distress.
"Wifey, Y/N, look at me" You stubbornly shook your head, not wanting to meet his gaze, instead burying yourself deeper into his embrace, seeking solace in the warmth and security of his arms.
"I'm just looking ugly now. My make-up must be a mess. I don't want you to see this version of me"
"I love you for whatever you are, wifey There's truly no such thing as an 'ugly' version of you. You're stunning in every single way." Kalim kissed the top of your crown. His kisses traced lower as he gently unattached your face from his body. He cupped both of your cheeks before leaning in to give your lips multiple light kisses.
"I will not do anything that you dislike, dear. You don't have to go that far, saying you're willing to give birth to 20 of our children. Let's take our marriage slowly alright?" Kalim paused, a small chuckle escaping his lips before he continued,
"Besides, I already have the most wonderful wife in the world. Why would I need another one?"
Kalim kissed you again, adding a new level of passion to it as his tongue entered your mouth. He pulled you closer against his body, his arms wrapping around you in a protective embrace.
You could feel the love and devotion he held for you in his every touch, in the way he held you tightly against him. In that moment, you knew without a doubt that Kalim was the best husband you could have ever wished for. For the first time, you defy the family tradition and your husband supported your decision of it.

Kalim was the polar opposite from you it seemed, he was outgoing, friendly with everyone, and loved parties, a convivial type of person, but you liked him for that, finding it fascinating how he just got along with anyone and everyone, watching from the sidelines.
The moments you and him hung out alone were never boring, and he brought a boost of confidence to your being when talking to new people. But you only ever felt like that when around him.
Ironic, the introvert and the extrovert. But, it worked out. Kalim considered you a close friend, and you considered him that as well, but it ran deeper than that, didn’t it?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You never were a big party goer at all, not here, and not back in your world. You preferred to stay at home and just watch shows while snacking and playing games on whatever device you deemed fit. Sometimes you missed those quiet moments, especially in certain times like these…
The music booms loud on the stereos, people dancing away to the beat of the music, even a conga line formed of random students paraded the middle of the dance floor. Jamil is stressed out himself as he stocks up the snack tables with newly made food items, running back and forth between the kitchen, and all while keeping an eye on Kalim(poor Jamil). Kalim invited you to everyone of his parties, but you elegantly declined by saying you had to study, or that you had some job to do that Crowley gave you. But, Ace being the stupid guy he is, asked at lunch if you were going to the party. In all truth, you honestly didn’t really want to come, but when Grim heard the word “food” fall from Ace’s mouth, he was all in, and gave you the cute puppy dog eyes(kitty cat eyes?) until you reluctantly said yes to attending.
“Oh! Prefect, I think you’ll like this! It’s a specialty of the Scalding Sands! It’s amazing, try!” He beams happily as he hands you another plate with food.
Luckily Grim munches up most things on your plate, you weren’t really hungry, in fact, you were already starting to get overstimulated from the loud drums of whatever song was playing.
A headache starts to form quickly as people shout. Kalim smiles wide at you before he goes off to interact with the next group of people.
What times was it now? How long have you been here? Only 15 minutes…time couldn’t go by any slower, could it?
“Grim? You done? I think we should head out, we probably have something to study for—“
“Henchhuman, look at all the food! Can’t just leave it!”he interrupts you.
“Grim—“
“Eat now, talk later!” He hums as he stuffs his cheeks full of what seemed to be baklava and various other items.
Your head pounded even more now, and you found it a bit harder to breathe, and also a nauseating feeling starting to build up. Grim will be fine, you just need to get some fresh air and then maybe things will get better.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Navigating through the crowd is difficult, people bump into you from your left and to your right, always knocking you into someone else, causing you to have to apologize time and time again. Your breathing begins to get a bit more labored and your vision a little blurry.
You don’t realize as you walk that you’ve somehow ended up in the middle of the room, people glancing at you with questioning looks. You swallow thickly and you feel your breathing begin to quicken even more.
You shouldn’t have come. You shouldn’t have come, look at them all staring at you, you need to get out—
A hand touches your shoulder gently, causing you to jump.
You turn your head…It’s Kalim.
“Prefect? You seem a little out of it, here, follow me, I know a quieter spot.”
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kalim acts like an airhead most times, and truthfully, he is, but he wasn’t that stupid. He can tell when something seems wrong with the people he cares about, I mean he literally has over 30 younger siblings, him being the oldest of the bunch, so he has some experience in telling whether someone is doing fine or not. Of course he does lack most basic social cues, but he tries his best to understand.
He quietly leads you out to the hallways of Scarabia, the cold, night desert air blowing gently, shocking you back into reality. He keeps a hand on your shoulder as he leads you further and further away, the obnoxious belabor of the music fading into just a faint murmur.
“Prefect, are you ok? Do you need anything? I can go get it for you.” He says, his eyes unusually shaped with worry.
You clear your dry throat as you finally begin to calm down. How embarrassing, completely and utterly embarrassing. Having a panic attack at a party—
“Prefect? You with me still?” Kalim shakes your shoulder gently. You look into his eyes and take a breath in.
“I’m, ok. I guess.” You murmur out. Kalim sighs and he smiles again.
“Good! Hey, I’ll be back, I’ll go get you a water.” He hums as he quickly leaves.
You sigh and you rub your temples, leaning against the wall. Tears prick the corner of your eyes but you quickly wipe them away with your sleeves. Phew, finally away from the party.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kalim comes back a few minutes later, holding a water bottle and…another plate of food.
“I didn’t know what you wanted.” He sighs as he looks at the stuff. He sits down on the ground, waiting for you to do the same, which you do. You look at him.
“Water, here.” He pushes a water bottle into your hands.
“Oh, do I need to open it for you? I usually have Jamil open mine—“
Was he serious?
“I got it, thank you, though.” You murmur out as you crack the bottle open and sip on it.
“What happened? Ah, I mean, if you wanna tell me.” He stammers. He looks concerned. You look into his eyes again and quickly shift your gaze over to look at a potted plant in a corner that is seemingly more interesting at the moment.
“I guess…I just had a panic attack? I’m not a huge fan of uh…parties.” You whisper out.
You look back over at him nervously, I mean, you just told the guy who loved parties you basically hated going to the plethora of ones he hosted and that you avoided them by fabricating up assignments, but he didn’t seem sad, or disappointed at all.
Kalims eyes softened and he scoots closer to you, hugging you.
“Sorry, prefect. I didn’t know that. How stupid of me! I don’t like seeing you sad, actually I love seeing you smile so, don’t feel bad! I don’t want any of my friends to be sad…especially not you.” He mumbles, the last part of his sentence more so of a whisper to himself. He pulls away and smiles again.
“Maybe I’ll host just a tiny party later on? Would that work?” He beams.
I don’t know if he understood the part of “you not being a huge fan of parties,” but a less crowded one you could probably deal with…I suppose there was really no way of changing his nature.
“Yea, that sounds good.” You sigh as you fidget with the water bottle in your hands. Kalim bounces slightly and smiles wider.
“Awesome! Hey, while Grim binges out, would you maybe wanna go for a carpet ride?” He whispers with a smirk on his face.
“Maybe it’ll help to clear your head a bit more!”
Your eyes go a little wider and you look at him. One stressful situation and now he’s trying to put you into another one? This guy…
“Do you trust me?” He murmurs as he takes one of your hands in his.
Do you trust him? Of course you do. He gives you a pout, his pleading sparkling eyes swaying you instantly.
“I…sure. Yes, I trust you, Kalim.” You stammer out. You take a breath and watch as he jumps up, pulling you up next. He grips your hand in his and drags you to the treasury where the carpet usually was, all while humming a tune happily
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kalim gets on the carpet and holds out his hand to you. You take it and he helps hoist you up.
“All good?” He asks as he looks at you expectantly. You nod and you scoot more towards the middle of the carpet. Kalim sits up front closer to the edge, smiling wide.
He looks back at you, watching you as you hold onto whatever your hands can grip for dear life. “You can trust carpet. He’s good at this.” He giggles. And then—
You squeeze your eyes shut as the carpet descends into the starlit sky, going higher and higher, the wind picking up and ruffling your clothes and hair. “I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die,” is all you can think at the moment, and even opening your eyes just a sliver was a scary thought. But, you’re pulled from your thoughts quickly as you feel a pair of arms wrap around you, and you instinctively wrap your arms back around him.
“Don’t you dare close your eyes. Look! It’s pretty, believe me, perfect.” He laughs. You crack one eye open, then the other, and now? You can’t even blink.
The stars twinkle brightly, practically smiling down upon you two as the carpet glides seamlessly through the air. The moon’s celestial light gracing and bathing each of your features with a silvery glow. You slowly relax and loosen your grip from around him.
The desert below looks so small now compared to the large, jet black sky that sparkled.
“Woah…” is all you can manage to choke out.
“I know, right? Glad you trusted me, Y/N…” he smiles softly
“It’s like…a, a whole new world.” You whisper.
All of it was an ethereal sight, and, who knew how bucolic the sky could be up so close? You’d never take this for granted, that was for sure.
You turn your head back and smile widely at Kalim, the weight of what happened being lifted off your shoulders. His smile widens as well and he bounces up and down again.
“There! You smiled again! Good, good! Welcome back, prefect!” He exclaims, gesticulating just how happy he was with big gestures of his arms, which in turn, caused the carpet to move a bit, sending you to hold onto him again.
He laughs heartily and looks you in the eyes, his smile fading into a softer one.
“I’m sorry about earlier again. I know Grim dragged you there but, I never really thought you didn’t want to be there, I was just happy you were. Just me being stupid as usual, right?” He sighs, shaking his head.
“It’s not your fault. It’s mine, really, for not doing well in those settings—“
“Hey, don’t say that. It’s not your fault. It’s far from yours!” He scolds, though his voice lacks any bite to it.
“It’s just who you are. I’ll try and be better, I promise, be more considerate. I have been getting better! Jamil thinks so, but, it’s hard to tell with him.” He purses his lips, looking over at the moon.
“I’m like you, too, opposite, though. I’m nervous when I’m alone, instead.” He chuckles solemnly. He looks back at you.
“Ahhh…there I go again.” He grumbles. “Anyways, we should go back before Grim worries where you are.” He hums.
You don’t think Grim is the most bothered by any of this, I mean, the guy has got a whole table full of food, he’s definitely content. Tough, Jamil probably is the more worried considering how long Kalim has been out of his sight. Gotta feel bad for the guy.
Kalim shifts away from you and takes hold of the tassels on the carpet. He looks back at you again.
“Hold on!” He guffaws. You take that as a sign to scramble behind and wrap your arms around him.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The descent down was…scary…but you both were alive. Kalim walks happily with a pep in his step as you both make your way back to where the party was being held. You pause just outside the large double doors as Kalim goes to open them. He flashes you a small smile and heads in, leaving you alone.
A few minutes later an exasperated Jamil exists through the door, holding grim by the scruff.
“Take him and leave.” He sighs as he pushes Grim into your arms.
“And, if you leave somewhere with Kalim, for the love of the seven, please tell me first.” He huffs, face palming.
“Have a goodnight. Be safe.”He murmurs before going back to hold down the fort.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
As soon As you got back to Ramshackle, Grim was out like a light from having eaten too much. He curled up on the edge of the bed as usual, leaving you to get ready for bed yourself, silently slipping into your sleepwear.
You get into bed, the sweet lull of peaceful dreams pulling you to sleep.
Tap. Tap. Knock.
You flutter your eyes open and look over at your window anxiously, but it’s the furthest thing from anything scary. It’s Kalim. You get out of bed and flip up the locks on your window.
“What are you doing here?” You whisper. Kalim was seated on his carpet just outside your window.
“I wanted to check on you again. You’re better now, right?” He whispers back.
How sickeningly sweet of him.
“I’m doing better. Thank you. The carpet ride really helped to…calm me down.” Your eyes meet his. He places his hands on the windowsill and moves in closer.
“Good. Honestly, I don’t know why I came. I couldn’t go to sleep without knowing you were going to be ok just one last time. Weird isn’t it?” He sighs.
“Also, Jamil got mad at me.” He frowns. “If you got some backlash from him I’m sorry. Not intended!” He pouts. You chuckle and shake your head.
How cute.
“Jamil just told me to warn him next time. And, thanks for worrying about me…still. It’s sweet of you, but I’m ok now.” You smile. Your hand gently sitting atop his as an extra added bonus of reassurance. “You sure you came here just to check on me, though? You could have just messaged me, y’know?” You giggled.
He looks at you surprised for a moment but then chuckles, his cheeks dusted with a faint hint of pink as he glances away.
“Slipped my mind. You know me.” He chortles. He shakes his head and looks back at you.
“I’m glad you’re, ah, ok.” He sighs. “I guess goodnight then?” He purses his lips. “Goodnight, Kalim. And, no crowded parties for me.” You chuckle.
Kalim chuckles along with you and nods. There’s a comfortable silence between you two as you just gaze at each other.
Who knows what takes over, but you lean in and kiss his cheek gently. AHHHHH, OK, MAYBE YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE DONE THAT!! ABORT, ABORT!
You pull away, your cheeks redder than a tomato at this point.
“I- that…why did I do that? Kalim, I’m sorry that was—“ you stammer but then stop as you look back at Kalim who is as red as you. You feel the guilt start to build up.
“Now I know why.” He murmurs out, his eyes wide. You look at him confused, guilty, embarrassed, all of the above, expecting him to push you away but—
“It makes sense why my heart speeds up when around you now. I thought it was just because I finally found a good friend but…it runs deeper than that.” He whispers. His eyes soften as he looks at you.
“Look at me being stupid again! I would have planned a much nicer venue, or maybe have something cute prepared at least or just something to confess…” he pouts. He moves his hands and holds onto yours.
“I like you, perfect.” He states, proudly, too.
You’re baffled. Robbed of words. Lost. Was this happening? Hello, pinch me, if this is some sick messed up dream this is super unfair!
He squeezes your hands gently again, looking down at them intertwined, running his thumb over your knuckles. You clear your throat and hold his hands back.
“I like you, too.” You murmur out. Kalim looks back into your eyes and sighs. He giggles happily and moves your hand to his heart which is beating oh so rapidly.
“I like you. A lot. Too much. Ahhhhh, I’m happy.” He says all giddy. He laughs breathily and moves to hug you tight, burying his face in your neck.
“So…this means?” You murmur out as you hug him back. He simply nods. (Give him a few moments, it’s a lot to process.)
He pulled away, his eyes glossy. Was he seriously crying?
“I have to tell Jamil, this’ll be—“
“Ah…maybe not yet, Kalim.”

I genuinely never have a clue what to ask for anything because my brain blanks out when i get into the ask box
Uhm, i really liked the tsundere twist idea you were talking about in that one post. It's very fun and silly. I'm also intrigued by how Kalim would be written in this, how the most vocally hype one would get relatively quiet and not as open with his crush. Azul feels like he fits in really seemingly tbh though i think that goes with majority of em lol (NRC isn't really good at being genuine haha)
It just seems so fun and cute but also strangely fitting 😆
Tyyy for the request! Yeah, Kalim's approach in a tsundere! Au is definitely the most interesting to explore!
Love?
Summary: Kalim doesn't really know why you make him feel this way. It's probably nothing... Right?
Notes: Tsundere!Kalim is fun precisely because of the careful balance with his character imo
Tumblr media
Kalim had to admit, the way he talked to you was- different, to say the least, from the way he talked to others. It wasn't a big deal though, really! He was just- a bit awkward with you, because you had no magic, and it felt weird.
Kalim really wasn't the best person to like someone. He'd be a terrible boyfriend anyways, after all, there was a reason everyone back home secretly hated him, even most of his siblings, even Jamil-
Hahaha. Wow, Kalim was really great at making humor out of hyperboles! Weren't those two big words? Jamil would be so shocked to see him use them!
Too bad Jamil wasn't here right now. Just you. You, looking at him in shock as he handed you that trinket you'd been eyeing for a while now.
"Kalim," you said, eyes widened in shock. "This is-"
Stupid. That was what you were about to say, right? Kalim was wasting his time, giving a stupid gift no one cared about. He was probably being so overbearing right now.
"Ah, sorry!" He said. "I just give these gifts to most people, you know? Sorry if you minded, I didn't mean to make it seem like I liked you or anything weird like that!"
You tilted your head in confusion.
"You sure?" You asked. He hastily nodded.
"Yep!" He said. Your brows furrowed.
"I- thought this was part of that one courting ritual-"
"O-Oh, jeez, silly me!" He said. "I forget about that stuff all the time, you know? I have no clue how Jamil deals with having to remind me!"
He really didn't.
"Alright then," you said, looking two seconds away from bursting into giggles. Did Kalim say something stupid he hadn't realized he said? Oops.
"U-Uh, bye then!" He said. "I'll see you later, friend- acquaintance l- Prefect!"
Jeez, he really was bad at this whole 'love' thing, wasn't he?

kalim, first meeting, twisted ending (tell me if I did it incorrectly 🔥)
💐you're only supposed to pick one but that's ok hun, I'll take it as a first meeting request 😉
❧ An idiot and a bracelet
Tumblr media
❧ The market is packed, same as any other day, sun burning at the back of your neck as you scout for an easy target – one of these wealthy idiots must be more idiotic than the rest…
The sound of loud, open laughter carries through the crowd, leading your eyes to a head of white hair showing through a light shawl. The man is talking animatedly to another man who seems much less engaged in the conversation, but indulges him still. Curious.
You sneak closer with practiced steps, blending in at a nearby stall to look the man over more closely. An expensive golden bracelet catches the sunlight from his wrist, inlaid with shiny red and orange gems that glimmer like stars. Idiot found.
The topic of conversation doesn't interest you, though from the bits and pieces you catch, the man must be both filthy rich and incredibly naive to accept the offers being made. Another step and you’re close enough to quickly unlatch the pretty bracelet and make a run for it before he notices. Your eyes trail greedily over the rest of his jewelry – earrings, rings, a belt, anklets… No, focus, greed can be deadly in your line of work.
The moment the shopkeeper turns away to reach for something behind where he stands, you strike, touch light as a feather, steps light as a kitten’s, the bracelet is in your pocket without a hitch. Or so you think.
Your escape is rudely interrupted by the arm that wraps around your midsection to pull you into a tight space in between buildings. A gasp is ripped from your throat, hand instinctively pushing outwards to strike whoever has a hold of you.
“Wait, wait! I don't want to hurt you.” As if you’ll believe that, “Please!” Something in the voice makes you hesitate, but still you tear yourself out of the person’s arms to face them. In front of you stands the man you’ve just robbed… somehow. With a wide, friendly smile on his face… for some reason.
The man takes your stunned silence as an invitation to speak, “You’ve got some nice moves, I almost didn't notice you! My name’s Kalim, what about you?”
What the hell is up with this guy?! Making small talk with the person who just robbed him. Is he trying to keep you here so you can be arrested?
“I know what you're probably thinking and I assure you it's all wrong! Really, I just wanted a chance to talk to you.” His light and cheerful tone is rubbing you the wrong way. Who is this guy really?
“How do I know you're not just stalling so someone can come and arrest me?”
“Oh, uhm,” he stops to think on it for a moment, seemingly not at all expecting such a question, “by the honor of the sultan?”
“The sultan? Who are you to–” The rings, the bangles, the belt, the way the man at the stall had spoken to him. No man should be that rich. No man… besides the sultan.
Your heart drops deep down to your stomach.
“So, will you hear me out now?”

Tumblr media
Kalim is ecstatic about this idea. The first time you suggest this to him, he's so happy; smiling brightly at you and spinning you around in a hug.
He instantly wants to tell Jamil all about it. The latter is a little concerned about Kalim's ability to take care of a small animal; remembering all the times Kalim struggled to take care of himself without Jamil needing to step in.
"Oh we could adopt a camel! Or an elephant!", Kalim is already looking up suitable pet names on the internet. You take his hand in yours and squeeze it. "Kalim, my dear, I was thinking more of....you know...something the average person can actually take care of", you explain carefully and sigh.
The two of you eventually decide on getting a puppy. Very fitting for Kalim, whom you have once referred to as "the human version of a golden retriever".
You know that scene in the beginning of "Bolt" where Penny picks up puppy Bolt for the first time? That's Kalim, walking into the pet shop and staring at the puppies with such a bright, happy gleam in his eyes. You can't help but want to capture this moment, so you take a photo of him; Kalim gladly indulging you. He smiles into the camera whilst holding one of the small dogs up, petting it gently.
"So...got your eyes on one yet?", you ask, pressing a kiss to Kalim's cheek.
Kalim is gonna take home the puppy that's most active out of the ones in the bunch, much to Jamil's disapproval. But Kalim can hardly say no to his newfound little friend, the way the puppy immediately brings him one of the toys running around and expects Kalim to play with it.
Kalim loves that dog so much the second he takes it home. He loves cuddling it and playing with it. Sadly, though to no one's surprise, Kalim has absolutely 0 grasp on the dog and it will not perceive him as an authority figure whatsoever. If you want it to be potty trained, to stop jumping up and down at people due to excitement and not steal the other dorm member's shoes and chew on them? Congrats, that's your job now!
Kalim and you often take walks with your puppy.
It sleeps in Kalim's room so when you're staying over, holding Kalim in your arms and trying to sleep in on the weekends; expect a small dog to join you in your attempts to cuddle or try to catch your attention.
Kalim picked the most stubborn, active dog they had and now you're going to have to try and get it to listen to you. Crowley already complained 5 times.
Tumblr media
Epel would love the idea of adopting a pet with you. He has a soft spot for animals. He's just worried about his dorm leader and knows that Vil would hardly be keen on the idea of having a pet at Pomefiore dorm. So if possible, the pet will stay with you most of the time.
Epel holds your hand all the way to the pet shop. "Okay, so, I'll need something that won't make a lot of noise, won't carry Vil's belongings anywhere, won't 'mess up my makeup' apparently and something that preferably doesn't walk around the dorm", Epel sighs and looks around the store.
His choice is made when he looks at the bunnies they have for sale. Epel used to have bunnies as a kid and he still likes them and finds them cute.
You chuckle after looking around the store alone for a while, finding your boyfriend near the bunny cage, holding a small, white rabbit that seems to have fallen asleep on his arm. "This one", he says excitedly.
Epel would refuse to name his bunny something "cutesy". You'll have to deal with name suggestions such as "Skullcrusher" and "Thundering Fury".
He's so happy to share this experience with you.
When he brings the bunny back to the dorm for the first time, Rook makes an off-handed comment about 'hunting', causing Epel to clutch the small creature and shield it from Rook. "Leave skullcrusher alone, I'm warning you", Epel tells him and Vil raises an eyebrow. "You named it skullcrusher?", his disappointment is obvious with his tone and he turns to you, "and you didn't stop him?" You shrug and smile. "He seemed very happy."
Epel takes good care of the rabbit and he loves sitting on the couch, snuggled up to you, holding the little bunny in his arms.
He wants to make its enclosure as nice as possible for it, buying little toys and tunnels to keep it entertained.
Panics if it ever escapes and runs around the dorm. Partly because he's scared he won't find it again or that it might get hurt, partly because Vil is NOT going to like that.
"Calm down", you put a hand on his shoulder, "we try all possible options first before we panic." You grab your things and start looking with him.
He's very relieved when your shared pet is back in your care. Vil actually found it and handed it to Epel. "Next time, keep a better eye on it", the Pomefiore dorm leader sighs; not seeming nearly as mad as Epel had insisted he'd be.
Epel takes you home over the holidays and brings your bunny with him, showing it to his parents and his grandmother. They reminisce about the time Epel used to have bunnies as a kid and show you the pictures of Epel as a young boy. "Y/n, we're so happy Epel brought you over for the holidays- oh, look, and here's him trying to eat the sand cake he made in the sandbox!", his mother exclaimed, resulting in Epel gesturing frantically. "Don't show them that!"
Your bunny just observes you quietly.

For Idia it's instantly clear that you're getting a cat. He's so excited about the idea, given how much he loves cats.
Also one who starts thinking of names before you even go to the store to get a cat, but simultaneously he's worried that he's going to settle on a name but then it won't fit. "It needs to be clever and accurate", he insists, explaining to you the list of names of his favorite game characters, "for example, this character, in the game, has a forehead mark on his face. So if the cat has a spot with white fur on its forehead, this name would make sense." "You're putting way too much thought into this...", you mumble and run a hand through his hair.
One of the few instances where you don't have to convince him to show up only with his tablet instead of in person. "We're making a major decision here. I cannot make judgement half-heartedly", Idia holds your hand and stays close to you as you walk through the village on the island towards the pet store. "But for the dorm leader meetings where major decisions about the school are being made the tablet suffices?", you chuckle and raise an eyebrow. "The normies are capable of handling these. The task of naming our cat is one that demands precision, wits and top tier gamer spirit."
Idia is ecstatic about the cats. Not so much about the store clerk who keeps trying to give him advice. "I- I'm sure we can pick on our own", he tries to shake him off as he shows Idia and you the cats with a friendly smile, "y/n say something please." The last part he whispers and you let out a sigh. "We'll call out to you once we've picked one. My boyfriend is a bit shy", you explain and Idia looks at you with wide eyes. "Don't say that", he whispers as the store clerk tends to other customers.
Idia picks a calm and quiet cat, perhaps a little on the chubbier side; one that seems sleepy and starts to purr and close it's eyes when Idia holds it in his arms. He also instantly finds a name from one of his games that fit the kitten. "See, that wasn't too hard, was it?", you press a kiss to his cheek. "You're right", he hands you the kitten so that you can hold it too for a while, "as soon as I saw it, I knew instantly."
Idia lets the cat sleep in his bed and you two often end up cuddling with it at night. He picked a very affectionate one.
When Trein reprimands him for not coming to class in person and catches him playing games instead of paying attention in the lesson, Idia insists he'll show up in person only if he can bring the cat for comfort. Because Trein has a cat himself, he lets him.
What Idia hasn't calculated in was the fact that small, cute kittens tend to attract a crowd of students asking to pet it. So he ends up surrounded by his classmates, stuttering about how his cat needs its peace and quiet. You have mercy on him and take the cat from his arms, dealing with the students in his stead.
The cat also starts a fight with Lucius, which Trein insists "could never be Lucius' fault". Idia doesn't know how to handle the conflict.
Needless to say, Idia was even more set on not coming to class in person after that. While you are sitting in class, you often receive text messages from your boyfriend, consisting of dozens of cat pictures and videos.
"Look at it, y/n! Isn't it cute?", he texts and you glance to the board to make sure Trein doesn't catch you texting in class. "Yes it is. I see it every day, Idia." "The magic of cats never fades."

For Malleus and you, the decision to adopt a pet was a spontaneous one. You two snuck out without the knowledge of his guards, something you insisted in front of Lilia was an activity you "definitely did not do frequently", and now you wandered the small settlement on the Isle of Sages.
Malleus was going on and on about an abandoned building you saw on the way here and you mused how cute he looked eating his ice cream with a small plastic spoon, his fangs flashing everytime he opened his mouth.
You looked around and passed by the pet store. From the window, you could see inside; observing a small iguana staring at you from the window display.
"Malleus....", you start, the fae prince turning around to check what you were looking at, seeing you point at the creature, "impulsive question, but what do you think about getting one of those?"
Malleus puts his finger at his chin and thinks about it for a while. At first he doesn't get what the point is, as a pet like this lives maybe 25 years if you're lucky and this seems very short for him. You remind him that he has had GaoGao Dragon-kun for even less and it still brought him a lot of joy he's glad to have and Malleus has to agree that you have a point.
"We could take care of it together", you say.
Oh boi
You don't know what you kicked loose.
Malleus perceives this as like, a very big bonding experience with his beloved that will bring you so much closer and prepare you for one day taking care of an entire kingdom together; something he definitely thinks about frequently and is more than ready for.
"Very well then! I would love this very much", he smiles and presses a kiss to your temple. So it's decided.
You come back to the dorm with a terrarium and a small iguana in your arms and the brightest smile on your face as you see Lilia. "We impulsively decided to raise a pet together", Malleus exclaims proudly. Lilia is just looking back and forth between you and Malleus and sighs. He doesn't even know how to break it to the queen yet that her grandson has fallen in love and here he is adopting a pet and probably planning his wedding in his head.
Malleus is super careful with your pet because he knows he's sometimes having trouble estimating his own strength. He holds it super careful and he's very pleased that it's not afraid of him.
He names it GaoGao Dragon-kun. You mostly call it Drakon but Malleus always addresses it by the full name. You go to the vet for the first time and she's like,,, trying to set up a file for your pet and she's like "what's its name?" and there's Prince Malleus Draconia who has to duck under the doorframe to enter the vet's office and made the entire waiting room silent with just his presence and he very seriously answers "GaoGao Dragon-kun" and the assistant of the vet just sighs and makes herself another large cup of coffee.

Beyond the Glitter of Gold
Yandere Kalim
Masterlist
‎‎‎
i really couldn't think of a better title ;-; just a little idea that had been stuck in my head and i needed to get out
Tumblr media
Kalim had never wanted for anything.
How could he, when the Asim family that he was the heir to was one of the wealthiest in all of the Scalding Sands? Anything he had ever wanted had always just been an ask away from being within his grasp; there was no doubt that the world was his oyster when the gold and jewels and treasures lost in a single vault back home was worth more than entire cities. Yet -
"I was just over for dinner yesterday, I would hate to intrude ag-" You hadn't even completed your sentence before Kalim interjected.
"No, no, you wouldn't be a bother at all!" He laughed, propping his hands on his waist, cheery grin pulling his lips from ear to ear. "You have to come over for dinner tonight, Jamil is making your favorite baked sweets with pistachios and almonds today. Right, Jamil?"
Said dark-skinned boy simply nodded. "Certainly. You will always be welcomed at the Scarabia dorm."
Watching you bite your lip as you contemplated his now almost-daily request for you to come over and join him at his dorm, the usually carefree, jolly housewarden found himself mirroring the uncertain expression clear on your face as he held his breath, anxiously awaiting your response and praying that you didn’t catch the desperation in his tone. For the very first time, the Asim heir had found himself wanting - no, craving - for something money couldn't buy him, with his mood for the rest of his day hanging treacherously in the balance depending on your answer.
The shiny solid gold discs that hung from his accessories jingled in the light wind that swept down the open hallways, the gold that Kalim was always clad in glimmering lightly in the soft sunlight that reached in the inner corridor. Around the three of you, waves of students flowed past as if following the breeze, the light tapping of shoes across well-worn cobblestone floors, combined with chatter, rising into a lively background hubbub associated with school life. Curious gazes were tossed your way from time to time, though it was certainly more at Kalim and Jamil; after all, what could a housewarden and vice-housewarden possibly want with you, of all people? But they would get no answers from either boy or you, not with just their gazes, and so on they trotted to their various destinations, questions being pushed to the back of their mind.
"I probably shouldn’t." When you next spoke, your tone was almost apologetic, as if already gearing up to turn him down. "Trein assigned a lot of homework and it's due soon."
In an instant, the sunny look on the Asim heir’s face dropped, Kalim letting out a pathetic whimper like you had personally walked up and kicked him in the gut. Your words instantly trailed off, a dagger to his heart. “You really can’t come over?” All he wanted was to spend more time with you, was that so wrong? Money had never interested the white-haired boy, nor did he understand the motivation of the jealous and the spiteful who would go to any extent to lay their hands on his inheritance, but for once, for once he wished the glitters of gold worked its magic on you. “Not even just for dinner?”
No, you - the Ramshackle Dorm Prefect, somehow pulled into Night Raven College from another world - had an equal amount of interest in the glitters of gold as you had magical abilities. Which was to say, zero. Woe is him.
‎‎
‎‎
The undecidedness in your expression only grew as you glanced away uncomfortably from your friend’s heartbroken expression, yet seemingly frozen on the spot, unsure of what your next move should be. And it was the same thoughts that Jamil assumed you had, your face an open book that he didn’t find difficult to read in the slightest. But after the unfortunate series of events that he put Kalim through during the winter holidays, it was the least he could do to make it up to his master as a loyal servant of the Asim family. Helping to fulfill such a simple desire shouldn’t even be an afterthought for a personal attendant of Jamil’s caliber.
“It would be a pity if you couldn’t attend dinner,” Jamil sighed dramatically, shaking his head as he rested one hand on his waist, sharp charcoal gray eyes subtly scanning your body language. “I suppose all my hard work making those desserts would have to go to waste.”
As for you, well. The Scarabia vice-housewarden didn’t think you were so bad to have around.
You blinked, the mention of your favorite treat combined with the treacherous thought of throwing it away catching you off guard. “To waste?” You echoed, your firm, homework-centric tone wavering - and the black-haired boy knew he got you. “Why can’t someone else eat it?”
“I made enough for one extra person,” came his response, accompanied with a convincing grimace.
By now, the world around you was starting to quiet as the masses of students disappeared round corners, leaving behind the three of you and a silence that only seemed to grow louder as the seconds ticked by while you contemplated your dilemma, your gaze occasionally glancing towards the stairwell that headed up to the library and then back at the clock that hung on the nearby wall. Lunch break was about over for the day, and while you didn’t have another class to attend, they certainly did, and time was running out. Still, no matter how much Jamil hated tardiness, this was a rather important matter to settle for Kalim.
Gray eyes slid over to his downtrodden master, who was now busy muttering inaudibly to himself, sandalled feet kicking at the ground. You were a vastly more capable and tolerable companion to have than Kalim, a sight for sore eyes in fact, no matter how much he hated having to admit it. A pleasant conversation, being able to help in the kitchen without starting the next disaster, hot meals back from your home world that he would never dream of cooking; you were like the older sibling Jamil never had. Nothing more than that of course. After all, it would be improper, given how you were already the apple of Kalim’s eye.
Yet for once, it was surprisingly Kalim that made the next move, his hand shooting out grab yours before his thoughts had fully passed through his brain, startling both you and Jamil. "We can do it together!" The white-haired boy blurted out, free hand tugging at the sleeve of your school uniform pitifully, his gold jewelry catching a stray ray of sunlight and reflecting it onto the stone wall behind. “Trein’s homework, I mean. I always have difficulty with it anyway.”
A pause, then Kalim continued. "You'll help me with it?"
“And you could have dinner as well so we don’t have to throw away desserts,” Jamil finished, a grin quirking at his lips.
It was the straw that broke the camel's back, and you caved to the temptation of a sweet treat and the pressure of Kalim's pleading. "Alright, alright. I guess I can come over."
Score one, Jalim thought amusedly. He didn't even think Kalim had it in him.
‎‎
The skies above the Scarabia dorm were littered with stars as you munched away on your dessert, blissfully unaware that it had been specially made specifically for you and only you. A new bangle dangled from your wrist, glimmering in the tired glow of the oil lamps that hung down from the ceiling as you pointed out another error in Kalim’s homework - it was simple, decorated with just a few small cuts of precious stones, and it was all the Asim family’s heir could convince you to accept. Anything in the storeroom that his father had sent with him was open to your choosing, yet you had declined and declined until the two had finally worn you down.
It was clear that to Kalim, all you saw was him, the person, and not his vast wealths; treating him for who he was and not what he had. Refreshing, but at the same time heartwrenching. You were simply waiting to go home after all.
Jamil watched the two of you from a respectable distance for a moment as the two of you laughed over something he couldn’t quite discern, before turning to make the journey to the kitchen, mugs in hand. Despite the earlier surprise, what he had brewing in his mind was a plan that Kalim certainly would never put together himself, but there was no doubt that it was feasible. All he had to figure out first was how much it would take to get Crowley to conveniently be “unable” to find a way home for you - and how much to make sure you never found out.
A low blow, his idea certainly was. And if he suggested it to the Asim heir, the other would agree to that much, but Jamil was certain Kalim would ultimately give in to his desires and make it happen. You wouldn’t be going anywhere far from Kalim if he could help it, not with the glitters of gold that would weigh you down.

Genuine With You - Kalim
Author Notes: Someday, I will feel comfortable writing Kalim, but today is not yet that today. In all seriousness though, I wrote this while listening to "Romantic Flight" from the How to Train Your Dragon OST. I really can't quite decide how I feel about this fic, but I sort of thought it was time for me to post it. As per usual, reader is gender neutral. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Gender-neutral/ fluff/ romance
Word Count: 881

It wasn’t the first time you’d taken Kalim’s hand to join him on a magic carpet ride through the night sky. But something about it felt different this time.
When your hand had slipped into his warm one and he’d tugged you through your window and onto the surprisingly soft fabric, you’d felt strangely shy.
Kalim seemed like his normal self, though, if perhaps a little quieter, as he steered the carpet to take you up higher until you were sailing above the clouds and could see the moon in all its pale glory.
You wrapped your arms around yourself in a feeble effort to protect yourself from the cool night air, “Does it ever get old?”
Your eyes were stuck on the moon even as Kalim looked over at you with a surprised expression that soon melted into one of understanding, “Never. It’s just as magical everytime.”
You smiled, oddly comforted by his words. Somehow, being up in the sky with Kalim by your side made everything feel just a little bit simpler. Your problems seemed distant and far away, with even the school itself appearing tiny.
But perhaps distance had a way of putting things into perspective. While NRC often seemed larger than life, it was just a small part of this great, big world.
Amusingly, you never felt closer to anyone than when you were with Kalim, sailing through the sky high over the sleeping campus. There was a strange serenity, and though Kalim was always joyful, his happiness seemed easier and more relaxed when it was just the two of you.
It wasn’t like you thought he put on for others, but he did seem a little more genuine when it was just you and him. After all, it was only when it was just you and Grim around that you’d ever truly heard him voice any sort of complaints.
“It’s funny; you’re easy to be around,” Kalim’s voice interrupted your musings and spoke your thoughts aloud. You turned to look at him with no small amount of surprise, and he had the good grace to look slightly embarrassed, “I know it's an odd thing to say…. But I really do feel that way.”
You felt a smile creep onto your face at his words, feeling both touched and relieved that he felt the same way. “It’s not odd; I feel the same way about you.”
Now it was his turn to stare at you with wide, disbelieving eyes that had you letting out a laugh, “Is that really so surprising?”
He let out an almost sheepish chuckle and actually nodded, startling you even as he began to explain, “Yeah, it is. A lot of people seem to think they have to put an act around me because of who I am. Even Jamil….”
He trailed off, looking down as the smile on his face faded at his friend’s name. You’d known for quite some time that the events of winter break…. Jamil’s overblot was still weighing heavily on Kalim’s mind.
And though you entirely understood why that was the case, it pained you that everything that had happened during that time still bothered him so much. But you had no words to comfort the young man, even though you desperately wanted to. So instead, you decided to distract him by continuing on with your previous vein of thought.
“I’ve never felt that way,” You responded honestly and almost immediately regained Kalim’s attention. He no longer looked as sorrowful as before, and the longer you continued speaking, the happier he looked.
“I’ve always thought you’re one of the most comfortable people to be around at this school. I’ve never felt like I needed to be wary or put on an act around you. I can just… exist.” You glanced back at him, a smile on your face as you awkwardly lifted a shoulder.
“You just strike me as a really genuine guy, and I guess I want to be just as genuine with you as you are with me.”
It was like your words had opened some sort of door for Kalim. His eyes shone with both unshed tears and joy, and the next thing you knew, all the cold air that had been blowing around was blocked by his body as he tugged you into a tight embrace.
Because, despite the fact that Kalim was a carefree boy who seemed to do little work, he was by no means small or weak.
You let out a tiny, half-startled laugh as you wrapped your arms responsively around him and received a tiny squeeze in return as you reciprocated his affection.
“Thank you, Y/n; that means so much to me.” The young man leaned bac and you wished you’d had time to brace yourself for the unadulterated affection that shone in his garnet-colored eyes.
“I feel the same way. It’s easy being with you, and I’m so glad you’re here. Even if you aren’t originally from Twisted Wonderland, you mean the world to me.”
He held your hands in his, maintaining eye contact in a way that felt incredibly meaningful, even though you could never read the myriad of emotions that floated through his gaze, though you did catch a few.
Gratitude, honesty, joy, and pure, unfiltered love.

Jamil vs Kalim when their in love
Kalim is a sweet guy when he falls in love it’s like an innocent school girl crush. He wants to buy you stuff and hold your hand, plus tell you everything that’s happened to him today. He won’t out right say he likes you but probably after the 12th time he gives you a gift that costs more than your entire life and tells you that your the most important person in his life maybe you’ll get the hint.
Jamil gets downbad. Down hysterical. He’s mad that he likes you and he’s mad your not right beside him. He’s a jealous person who acts normal so he doesn’t scare you off. He wants you so bad it’s not even funny. He’s very upset with himself that he fell for you but he also wants to do three little circles in bed before he lays on you

✿ summary: getting kalim away from jamil for a minute to let him try out snow for the first time wasn't that easy but still the most fun you’ve had in a while
✿ ft: kalim al asim
Tumblr media
you didn't know exactly how you met kalim. it was your first year at night raven, and he just randomly appeared. it just sort of happened. first year and first year.
but whenever you were with him, all your worries and anxiety drifted away. his cheerfulness and kind personality were nothing like you’d seen before. it was so different from everyone else at nrc. it was like he should’ve gone to rsa.
“i’ll take care of him, jamil! don’t worry your pretty head off!” he was frozen, with a look you rarely get to see from his stoic features. his face, however, was something you wanted to take a picture of. his jaw dropped, small irises, brows raised higher than the empire state building.
but you had to book it down the hall with the white-haired male before jamil chased after you both. the cry of crewel telling him off for ‘using the bathroom’ made you want to snicker, but you had something more important on your mind.
you always wanted to repay kalim. he was the first person to make you feel something at this school. it was a little of an exaggeration. you did feel stress, anxiety, pity, fear, all these emotions. but he was the only one to make you feel something different. something light and airy. something that didn't want to make you drown your head in a bog of muddy water.
the idea of repaying him came to you when he told you he’s never seen snow before.
“never?”
“never!” he sounded happy, it was strange. he always kept a smile on his face no matter what. it scared you at first, how he always was so… upbeat. you thought he was lying, going to backstab you. but no. he was just a nice person. it was unusual. “we don’t have snow in the scalding sands.”
so you made sure to try and track the weather, even asking the strange upperclassmen with a blonde bob. you had heard he was good at that sort of thing, so you asked him every week. he did get a little more than agitated when it was so hot you were practically sweating through your shirt. “abruti, do you truly think it is going to snow in this weather?” you avoided him for a month after that.
but he did warn you after a while that it seemed like it was going to snow. so you waited and waited for that snow to fall onto the lush grass. for the window panel to glaze over, and with a finger draw small designs onto the see-through surface. for the clouds to look heavier than usual. for the voices to echo in the halls more than usual.
and once the snow reached the tops of your shoes, you ran to find him. he didn't have a class right now, so you did what any sane friend would do. pull him out, cover his eyes, and run for it.
“ok, you can open your eyes now.” you had placed your hands over his eyes, standing behind him, bringing him to the woods behind the campus so you could feel that chill and nip of the air and to have some privacy. you released your hands, moving them to your side, admittedly regretting not putting them on his shoulders.
he looked like a child, eyes bright and wide, taking everything in. “[y/n]! thank you!” he turned to hug you, arms wrapping around your uniform and body hugging you tight. you wished you could stay like this forever, stop time and just stay in this moment. your nose was smudged into his shoulder, letting you embarrassingly take in a small sniff of his cologne. it all happened in one second before he was running towards the snow, but you grabbed his hand before he could go any further.
“wait! you need these. i don’t know what jamil would do to me if your fingers fell off.” you handed him a pair of mittens, mittens that matched your own, the ones you were currently wearing. a subtle detail he did notice.
“we’re matching!” he slipped on the gloves with a tongue poking out of his lips and grabbed your own, sliding his hand into yours and squeezing. the feeling made you silently wish you both didn’t have that fabric shielding your skin. “they’re so cute! thank you!” and just like that your face got hot.
he dropped your hand and ran towards a large pile of snow, belly flopping into it with loud giggles. “you have to join me!” he yelled towards you, turning over with the snow perfectly reflecting the light onto his face.
“i’ll just stay and watch. it’s fine, honestly.” but he was determined and got up, a serious face you’ve never seen on him. he almost looked… mad?
“i won’t let my friend just sit and watch.” for the second time today, he grabbed your hand and pushed you into his body, falling backward so you would land on him.
“kalim?!” with a scream you fell into his chest, hitting the snow. the layer of snow was high and fluffy, but still, he could have landed on a rock. what if jamil came after you? what if kalim’s whole family came after you? what if-
“what’s with that face?” he laughed at how distressed you looked, reaching up to cup your face and push a piece of hair behind your ear. “you should live in the moment.”
“right…”
“i will live in the moment!” he reached to grab your cheeks, smooshing them together with a determined look on his face.
“huh?”
“i will live in the moment!” he repeated.
“i will live in the moment?”
“i will live in the moment!”
“i will live in the moment-!”
“i will live in the moment-!”
finally, enthusiasm from him rubbed off on you letting you laugh, and he released your cheeks.
“what do you want to do?” he asked, still beneath you looking as excited as ever.
“a snowman.” you told him, some of his enthusiasm rubbing off on you.
“a man made out of snow? what type of magic is that?”
“there’s no magic involved,” you laughed, getting up and giving him a hand. “it’s just three large balls of snow on top of each other.”
he looked more excited than ever, following you like a puppy as you moved to a random patch of snow. “so you would,” you bend down and start smoosh the snow together, “push them together to get a ball.”
he watched you with his full attention, eyes scanning every movement you made until you finally finished with a semi-large ball of snow reaching below your knees. when you turned to look at him, he got on his knees and repeated your movements making the snowball smaller than yours, “like this?” he asked, packing some more ice onto the ball as an added glue formula.
“you’re a natural!” you smiled, seeing his face light up brighter than Christmas lights. “we just need one more now.”
“mm!” he got up to slot himself behind you, arms cradling yours until he reached your hands and grabbed them with his own. “we both made one so we should make the last one together!”
he helped you shape and form the ball, patting and cotting areas so it wouldn't collapse. finally, you placed the head onto the body, and he paused momentarily before pulling away.
“wait here,” you told him before rushing to grab two branches and coming back. you inserted them onto the sides and took a step back. “it usually needs more like a hat, but we don’t have any of that right now.”
“huh?” he asked, confused. “we have a hat.”
“what?” you turned more than a little confused before seeing where he was pointing. a purple hat with a feather attached was placed in the snow next to a large tree. how did it appear there? there weren't any footprints. “that works, i guess.”
finally, you had your snowman. it was leaning to its right, almost falling down, with the lavish hat that almost looked identical to the one the man who helped you wore.
“do you like it?”
“of course i do! it was practice for our future kids!”
“what-?”

Firsts with Kalim Al-Asim💛🤍💛
Fem!reader
tags: fluff, dating
First time seeing each other:
You both had previously only caught glimpses of each other in halls during passing period. It was brief, enough take in some of the noticeable features of the boy. His doe eyes, a wonderful smile always upon his face, that disheveled soft look about his white hair. You also had a few classes with Kalim, but didn't talk to each other as you really only were well acquainted with Deuce and Ace at the beginning of your stay in NRC. Besides, he was always with an intimidating Jamil who seemed to stare daggers at anyone who looked at Kalim for more than eight seconds. When you both were finally paired in a class project, you felt your heart flutter with joy. Excited to finally interact with him up close, you quickly went to sit next to him in class to talk. "Y/N. What a unique name! I like it! You must come over to join us for dinner!" "To discuss the project." Jamil interrupts. "Yes, of course, to also discuss the project... I know we will make the best presentation!" His voice was like a happy song. With Kalim you felt so warm, hopeful, giddy. Can I always be with him?
First time developing feelings:
It wasn't surprising that you fell for the housewarden. He was so kind and thoughtful, perfectly radiant like the sun. When he'd call your name you'd practically turn into a puddle. "Y/N! I'm so glad we can study together." "Y/N, you look a bit tired... have you drank enough water today? Did you eat yet? Let me get you something, anything you like." He would come back with an entire vending machines worth of your favorite food and drink. "Please take care of yourself!" "Y/N, I asked Jamil to make your favorite lunch today, please, come sit with us!" When you would stay at Scarabia he would dote on you constantly. "Y/N, do you need extra pillows? Is the room to your liking?" Kalim would give you the biggest room they had— with its own indoor pool. "We have all kinds of breathable clothing imported from back at home. It's great for this sort of weather. Please take whichever piece you like!" He'd show you fine silken dresses, pants, scarves, all with vibrant colors and intricate patterns. He'd knock on your door at night while everyone would be sleeping. "Y/N" you would hear a whisper. "Jamil doesn't know I'm here, so please don't say anything. I thought we could share a midnight snack together." Kalim would bring small cookies and cakes so you could sit and eat together under the peaceful moon. Of course, the housewarden never noticed himself falling for you. It just became second nature to care and protect you. It wasn't until one day that he saw you talking with another student that it struck him. It struck him hard. He tried wrapping his arm around you. You looked so worried— and then it all happened in an instant. "Don't touch her!" All you saw was a flash of Kalim pushing the student aside, an expression upon his face you'd never imagined he could have. He never thought he could act this way, either, until the pang in his chest from seeing you being taken advantage of hit his head and everything clicked. I think I'm in love. Jamil couldn't help but grin from afar observing the situation. "Finally realized."
First time confessing:
Kalim had invited you that evening for dinner. But it felt different. Something about his voice, his words, his interaction just didn't feel like the boy you knew before. "Y/N, I'd like to invite you for dinner tonight. I hope you'll join me." There was an air of mystery, a charm in his eyes and he sounded so calm— a voice as smooth as sand. You slowly nodded, intrigued by this new Kalim. Since the occasion felt special you decided to dress more formally for that day. What better outfit than a wonderfully fitting dress Kalim had given you from the Scalding Sands that featured intricate beadwork and design. When you arrived the scent of sweet incense and aromatic spices hit your nose. You saw an endless sea of dishes put out in front of you, everything from sugared fruits to steaming kebabs. You nearly held your breath from the shock. Every candle was lit, tapestries decorated the room around you, and best of all was Kalim who sat there adorned in an equally beautiful outfit detailed with gold. Even the makeup which outlined his eyes was lined in a deeper, more seductive red. You sheepishly walked over to join him on the cushioned ground. "Kalim- I-" he spoke before you could finish, giving away to the nervous weight that laid on his chest. "This is all for you, Y/N, so please enjoy yourself. We'll eat and dance the night away— whatever you like." He grabbed your hand, holding it tightly. "Let me be with you, like this. I want to share these moments, good and bad, with you. Will you let me?" The smile you had fallen in love with so long ago shaped his lips. The first thing you had ever seen on Kalim, the first thing you ever noticed. "Of course. Always." It nearly felt like tears formed at the corners of your eyes. That night you did everything he said. You ate and drank and danced your fill all the way till sunrise where you finally relented and bid the prince goodnight, retiring to your Scarabian room.
Bonus: Kalim walked you over to his treasure room after finishing a dance, opening the door to show you inside. "Y/N, do you like anything you see? You can have it!" You blinked for a few moments, eyes blinded by the light reflecting off the gold and precious stones. You couldn't help but nervously laugh. I think there's enough riches here to last a few lifetimes. "Kalim... I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm good. If anything, let's leave before I break something!" You grabbed his arm to walk out and shut the door. "What if something is cursed in there?" "We've had Jamil check all the treasure already!"
First date:
Kalim wasn't done wooing you, not by a long shot. He was excited to show you a new side of him. Yes, he was still your innocent prince, but he could be a gentleman, too. You'd think he picked up a thing or two from the King courting so many ladies he saw growing up. But the first date wasn't something you'd expect. You thought maybe another dinner or walk along the park, sure, but he had actually planned something way more fun. What better way to cool off than a pool party for two? He had invited you during the day this time. Now you understand why he asked you to bring a swimsuit. "Oasis maker!" You both splashed and swam around for hours in a giant pool with a slide and fountains surrounding it. Were there also water guns? Absolutely. Water balloons? Yes. "Y/N? Y/N... Y/N!" Kalim frantically looked around, seeing you nowhere in the pool, seemingly disappeared under water. He began to worry before you suddenly grabbed him by the ankle and pulled him down with you. "Got ya!" You two laughed while continuing water tag. It was the most fun you had since arriving to NRC, to say the least. The day ended with your favorite foods for dinner and a warm bath with special salts and oils Kalim had asked to be brought from his home that was good for the skin.
First time holding hands:
It was the end of the day as you two were walking home from class, discussing topics on magic and such when Kalim bumped into you by accident while a student ran past him. The both of your hands brushed against each other from the movement, which elicited a faint blush against his cheeks. He immediately apologized and asked if you were okay, but something else was on your mind. "I'm alright, really. It's okay." You decided to go for it and grabbed his hand, interlocking your fingers together. "But I like this better." You smiled at him; Kalim gulped, blood rushing to his head. He'd never held hands with someone— he'd never actually even been romantic until meeting you. You felt him move his fingers a bit, feeling your skin to make sure the girl before him was real. Her skin is so soft. Her hands are so delicate... she's so wonderful, everything about her. You felt him tighten his hold more confidently while you both continued to walk. "You make me so happy, Y/N." Now you were the one blushing. The cute moments between you two were never-ending. From that moment on Kalim would get more comfortable with holding your hand, eventually doing it regularly every time you two walked together, proudly showing off his one-and-only.
First kiss:
You and Kalim were watching the sunset together at his dorm after having finished studying together. Something about seeing the pink skies meet at the horizon with dunes of sand that went on forever was a breathtaking sight. You leaned your head on his shoulder, placing your hand on top of his. It was just you two, a calm silence enveloping you both with the occasional sound of sand being swept by the wind. "Kalim, this view never ceases to amaze me." You felt your eyes close for a moment to try and mentally recreate the landscape so you could remember it forever. "You're right. Back at home, the skies are even clearer and brighter, it's more beautiful believe it or not. If you look from outside the city, you see the palace outline the sky. At night, colored lights and song illuminate the city." As he describes the Scalding Sands you feel more joy fill your heart before he pauses. You look up to see why he stopped, only to realize Kalim is looking back at you. "But none of that compares to you." Kalim's eyes are so tender, his little smile on his face, cheeks a rosy red again. Before you can think the proximity of both of your faces makes you lean in to kiss him. If you didn't think his face could get any redder, think again. While there's practically fumes coming out his ears, he releases for a second to compose himself before going in to kiss you again. Your lips aren't like anything he could have ever imagined before. So soft, sweet. It's nearly addicting to him. Only after you release this time do you realize how flustered he gets again, looking away shyly, looking back again, looking away, apologizing.
First time cuddling:
There was a separate lounge area that was meant for only Kalim. You and him would spend most of your time together there. On a particularly chilly night as you two had stayed up together talking, you decided to get closer to your boyfriend for some warmth. Pillows and blankets surrounded you, but something about leaning against him just felt better. Kalim wrapped his arm around you, pulling you in closer. "If you're cold we can go inside. I can have some tea be prepared." "No, it's alright, really. I like it this way." You snuggled closer. Closer... closer... a little more— now you're right where you want to be. It's warmest like this anyways, laying on top of his chest. You can hear his heart fluttering rapidly at the proximity of you two. He eventually relaxed a bit, leaning his chin on your head to hug you with both arms this time. While you decided to tiredly continue your conversation, before you knew it you had dozed off into sleep. Kalim grabbed a nearby blanket to cover you, while the warmth of your own body had him dozing off before he realized it, too. You both soundly slept together, cuddled up under the wall in a corner where you two stayed until morning. Kalim was the first to wake up, realizing he had slept in his lounge with you, but didn't make a sound to let you continue sleeping on top of him. How could he wake you when you looked so cute? Kalim ran his fingers through your hair, admiring you, fixing the blanket whenever you would move, watching your chest rise and fall with your breath. He didn't care if his back was numb, it was worth it if it meant seeing his princess like this.
First carpet ride:
"If you get scared, just tell me! Hold on, Y/N!" He lifted off the ground slowly before picking up some speed. "We're flying! kalim this is unbelievable!" You looked in awe at the blue skies and puffs of clouds that you both were directly under. Kalim made sure to keep the pace slow and steady for you, but enough to feel the wind glide against your face. You held him tighter, afraid at first, but eventually relaxed to release your arms and raise them high to feel the cool, crisp air. You saw flocks of birds, the rays of sun hitting against the sand below, tiny oasis's, the dorm. It felt ethereal. "Are you ready?" Kalim looked back at you before you quickly held onto him again. "For wha- aaaaahh!" You both suddenly dived nearly reaching the ground before flying back up again even higher. You gasped feeling air fill your lungs, yelling in excitement and fear. He went through clouds this time, doing a few tricks by turning in circles. You'd never experienced thrill like this, it was exfiltrating. When he finally turned to go back to the dorm he went at relaxing pace to let you enjoy the view one last time. "Can we stay up here?" You held your lover close while admiring the endless blue. "We can come up as often as you would like, how about that?" "Thank you." You leaned in to give your boyfriend a kiss.
First time visiting his home:
A merchant approached you, a man who's head was wrapped in a white turban. "My dear, have a look. See, this jewel is one of a kind! How about this vase? I have just the thing! This is a magic lamp." Kalim kindly shook his head, pulling you closer by the hand. "No thank you, sir, really, we don't need it. Sorry!" He hurried along down the bazar. He had disguised himself as a regular civilian; Kalim never really snuck out in the past, if he needed to go somewhere he simply went with Jamil, but since meeting you he wants to save these special moments for only him and his lover. Of course, Jamil didn't know about this as you had sneaked away from him while you travelled to the Scalding Sands for the weekend. You tried taking in all the sights while walking down the packed streets. Stalls were lined up full of foods, fruits, textiles, pottery, jewelry, anything and everything. The smell of spices, hot, dry air and cacophony of noises created a lively environment. People bustled along, street performers sang of old legends, camels stood with crates of good on their backs. You both then walked into a more secluded alleyway beneath the stone walls. "Kali- I mean... what was your name again?" You whispered. Kalim laughed, looking down the road again to decide on where you'd go next. "Never mind that. Come on, let's go to the palace before Jamil hypnotizes me and you and forces us to stay in our rooms for the whole stay!" You and Kalim then hurried along. "Wait till you see the palace! And meet my siblings! We can come back out at night to see the fireworks." All of this was so great, it was a whole new world for you. When you arrived at the palace gates Kalim took off his head scarf so they'd quickly let him in. Naturally he got an ear full from Jamil for leaving, but he was quickly interrupted by the waves of family that poured in to greet Kalim and his partner. You were nervous at first, but the warmth and hospitality of the Asim's made you realize where Kalim got his kindness from. You were immediately welcomed by everyone and spent the night being showered in gifts, with great feasting and celebrating. Once you and your partner were alone again he took the opportunity to lead you to the highest point in the palace, a tower where you could see the whole of the Scalding Sands. The view was more than just breath-taking, It was other-worldly. you looked at Kalim lovingly, wondering how you could ever meet such a perfect person. "I love you." You leaned in to give him a kiss. Kalim pulled you in by the waist before his promised fireworks started, illuminating the night sky.
"Hey, I wonder if that magic lamp was real?" "Let's go find out!"
