so... exciting announcement... i was hired to work on Reality Resort as a storyboard artist!

for those of you who haven't heard, Reality Resort is a Total Drama-inspired show on YouTube, produced by Cove and animated by Odd Nation Cartoons. its pilot episode just dropped a few hours ago!

to be clear, i didn't contribute at all to the first episode-- i was only hired about a week ago to contribute on episode 2 and beyond. speaking of, it'll be a lot easier for us to make episode 2 and beyond with more support for the show, so please consider checking out the pilot if the show sounds up your ally. the team is super cool and welcoming, and i've had a ton of fun with what i've worked on so far.

as for this blog, given that i'm now part of the show's staff, i won't be making any sorts of speculative content about Reality Resort or any of the other planned shows in the Reality Gauntlet. this is obviously because i know things the average viewer doesn't, and because i wouldn't want anything i was genuinely blindly speculating on to be interpreted as fact/a hint. however, Disventure Camp content (as well as all of the usual stuff) will continue as normal! (other than that i now have a bit less free time :,) )

anyways, i hope any of you who do decide to check it out will enjoy! as Cove has said in the comments, the first episode isn't perfect, and there are still plenty of quirks to iron out in the future. but, i think that the future of the show is looking bright, and i and the rest of the team appreciate any support you're willing to give. :)

it is like a wee bit crazy going through my art tag from even the past couple of months and seeing like. actual marked improvement. what getting into a podcast does to a man.

honestly, i dislike shipping without substance as much as anyone does. i adore picking apart characters and love worldbuilding more than anything else in the creative field -- but i think it's incredibly unnecessary to be as hostile as i've seen people be toward the recent uptick in dunmeshi interest (as if people are advertising it solely for the lesbianism). even if that were the only case drawing fans in, there are plenty of other games and shows that have been praised/offered up for (at most - implied) gay men & from that, posts that have the gag be "what do you MEAN there's murder in my gay show/game/etc.!" as an indicator that's been their first and only impression.

i haven't seen nearly as many people critique such incidents with disco elysium, for example, despite that being my own first impression due to the surface art i've seen (whereupon only searching for a game summary i realized there was so, so much more). i really don't see why we're suddenly so scandalized and concerned that people are overly excited to praise an interesting (if romantic) dynamic with two main girl characters - which feels rare for a lot of trending media in the first place.

hey okay everyone pump the brakes for a second please. i wrote up a proper post with a few different questions to consider but honestly I don't want to touch this whole situation considering I am not involved in any way (I don't know anyone involved and I only took a cursory glance at the situation after seeing a post about it). but i am concerned that this is the second time i've seen a fairly hasty callout post within the selfship community being made about a Black blogger (not the same person twice, two entirely different people and different situations).

I would just like to invite you to please take a second to look into a situation yourself and think about if it is really worth a callout post being made before reblogging/creating it yourself. especially if the blogger in question is a person of colour.

oftentimes it feels like things get blown out of proportion and people are very quick to sound the alarms for a fairly mild situation that would be easily resolved by hitting the block button. is this person really a genuine threat to a wide group of people (are they exhibiting behaviour that is ongoing and consistent in seeking out people to harm), or did they simply make a one-off post that was a bit mean and then got annoyed when people shouted at them in their inbox and DMs?

hi hello this is not a "you're not allowed to" post because I don't vibe with that but this is a heads up post as I've seen a few people playing with it and it definitely has snowball potential and it's suuuuuper easy to miss so: INZOI's processing method involves a lot of AI generation for its fabric textures and generation of items in its character creator and gameplay. again it's suuuper easy to skim right over this fact, and I'm not saying all AI is bad, but I currently cannot find any information on how they trained this AI. as such, i'm currently erring on the side of "it was probably scraped without acknowledgement or compensation" as it's generally the safer assumption these days.

again- this is not a no fun allowed post and i can definitely see the appeal in the demo (if you can get it to run, gosh that thing's a beast in terms of hardware usage), but i dunno i just felt like they kind of whispered the part that someone should point at out loud so i'm doing that. that's all! have a good day rpc ♥

Why the fuck do I like Tezcatlipoca.

I mean, think about it, the dude's not a good guy. He doesn't do good things. In fact, he actively does bad things (cough cough destroying humanity four times cough cough seducing Tlaloc's wife cough cough turning humans into monkeys).

And yet if you'll notice, most of my posts about aztec mythology are centered around him/Quetzalcoatl, and all of them at least mention him.

So why am I obsessed with a god that causes war, strife, and chaos?

It's so exhausting having things different about your body or brain that just makes this whole *gestures at literally everything in society* thing undoable. It's frustrating to just do anything and then realised there's mountains I need to cross before I can do things others do and expect me to do as well and so effortlessly. But it just takes so much effort to do that and when it's over, the mental exhaustion just makes it even harder the next time you need to do a thing.
