*slams my hands down on the table* I actually think that if Zaun is granted independence by Piltover then Sevika would be the perfect leader both in and out of universe. She’s previously followed both Vander and Silco, and seen their strengths and shortcomings first hand. Not only has she seen where they faltered, but thanks to her newfound relationship with Jinx and Isha, she understands where they were coming from. She’s always been the right hand woman, always had a great vision for what Zaun could be and held a great respect for its people and their customs, but never had the backing to lead it herself. I think it would be satisfying to see her step into a leadership position, provided the final three episodes put in the work to turn what currently has the potential to be a redemption arch into what actually is a redemption arch. Moreover, Piltover and Zaun will undoubtedly still have a relationship after they gain their independence which provides ample opportunity’s for Sevika to interact with Mel, and hey wait where are you going I wasn’t finished—

just reread my first poolverine fic that i wrote before even creating this tumblr or knowing jackshit about logan and let's just say. it is not great. but it did spawn one of the funniest metaphors i've ever written

The fact that Main-verse Ooo is as good and as kind as it is (relative to the other universes shown so far, at least, it's obviously not perfect) all because of the same character that starts off as the OG series' antagonist, the person we were made to see as the bad guy (albeit an often ineffectual one) for several seasons, is making me lose my mind.

Imagine finding out the guy you spent your childhood beating up and saving princesses from is in fact a driving catalyst behind you being able to exist, and not only exist but also live in a world that knows what kindness is. All because that man, the same man who you've witnessed do terrible things, once met a little girl and taught her how to be good.

Simon's story really shows us that even if you lose your way and forget how it is to be good yourself, the world keeps the memory for you. That act of love Simon showed Marcy by protecting her and seeing her as more than the monster she thought herself to be created ripples upon ripples, small at first but eventually enough to help give their wreckage of a world—a world that easily could have been forsaken, its goodness overlooked because of its inhospitable remains—a chance to grow into something beautiful. Because of those very same ripples Simon created, the people of Ooo grew up in a world where they know enough about kindness that they were able and willing to spare the 'bad guy' some, to see beyond the wreckage and allow him to grow too.

In saving Marceline, Simon helped to not only to save the world, but also himself.

i just love lucanis' introduction so much, it's one of my favorite things. we first hear about him from some scared shitless venatori, he's killing off magisters all over tevinter, he's the grandson of first talon herself, rumored to be her successor. and then in person he is this very composed, logical and practical person especially contrasted to illario's chaos and chatter, he's pragmatic where illario is ornamental. but then when they actually infiltrate the party it's illario, not lucanis, who doesn't want to leave witnesses, it's illario who want to assassinate their mark quietly and gtfo long before anyone notices, and it's illario who doesn't want to deal with the slaves. and it's lucanis who decides to send a horde of vengeance demons after his target instead and then yeet himself into an abomination with just a sword. he's an entirely, completely bullshit man and i love it. he would be great pals with justice, which is the highest honor i can bestow on a dragon age character.

My jumblr hot take is that y’all are way over counting sexes and genders. First of all they’re not genders they’re sexes all these categories are defined biologically. Second of all adam/chamah is a distinction only ever applied to a saris and no one else ever. Third of all saris and aylonis don’t constitute distinct exclusive sexes like the others do. A saris is still a zakhar and an aylonis is still a nekeivah

final count: 4 sexes (zakhar nekeivah androginos tumtum), 2 gender like legal categories (male female)

Since I'm writing about this rn, it has struck me that Dumbledore is willing to drink the potion in the horcrux cave because he believes that Voldemort wouldn't wish to kill the drinker immediately so as to question them... Dumbledore's usually pretty good at guessing Voldemort's thought processes, but as Harry discovers, this isn't true, because the potion causes thirst which leads the drinker to the lake, and then they're pulled down by inferi and die anyway. I'm wondering, was Dumbledore simply wrong, or is this because Voldemort was arrogant enough to believe that he would immediately be able to tell his horcrux was destroyed and get there in time to question whoever it was before leaving them to die? (in DH he does seem to believe that he would be able to tell.)

This is a pretty big flaw in Voldemort's logic if so, because as Kreacher, Harry, and Dumbledore all demonstrated, I think most people would be more likely to take the horcrux and try to destroy it later. Maybe this isn't too hard to believe because Voldemort also committed the major oversight of not realising that a house-elf or an underaged wizard could also be accompanying the drinker (which is extra stupid since he himself travelled across the lake with a house-elf.) I guess it makes a certain sense because Voldemort, who ultimately works alone, who underestimates everyone he considers inferior, might not have been able to fathom the loyalty, trust and love required for Kreacher and Harry to follow Regulus and Dumbledore into the cave.

It's also interesting that Dumbledore creates a very similar situation to that of Kreacher and Regulus-- he expressly makes Harry swear that he will follow any orders without question, he even tells Harry to leave him behind if needs be, which is what Kreacher does in his case. We know house-elves can disobey/work around some orders if they really want to, and in both cases Kreacher and Harry are ultimately following orders not because they have to but because of loyalty and trust. (I know Kreacher is literally bound to obey, but think about it this way- would he have done as much for Sirius, or would he have found a way around it like he does in OotP?)

Really the foreshadowing (or post-shadowing really haha) for Kreacher's tale is so good. It's hinted at when Dumbledore points out that it's Voldemort's mistake to underestimate the less visibly powerful, and I also really like the way that Harry can picture the scene perfectly as Kreacher narrates it-- because he lived it himself, after all.
