From the Halloween asks:
✨ - Best Halloween memory?
Ohhhhh hmm. I had a lot of fun trick-or-treating at Disney World while I was a teen, but admittedly the people I usually went with... make it less of a positive memory, in retrospect. One year we did all make homemade Lock, Shock, and Barrel masks and we looked fantastic. lmao
I also have really, really loved some of Sleep No More's Halloween parties, but I've never actually gone on Halloween proper, I don't think...
I lived on a floor full of Ancient Studies/Museum Studies majors when I was a freshman in college and we all watched The Mummy and wrapped each other up in toilet paper and that was fun, too...
Honestly, though, if it comes to like Pure Joy, there was this one year I went trick-or-treating with my best friend in Ohio. We were probably like... idk, 8? And it was the absolute apex of the Wonder Ball craze.
(For my non-American followers, they were sort of like Kinder Eggs but usually had toys relating to popular children's brands like Disney. The toy version was eventually made illegal here just like Kinder Eggs are, lmao. They replaced the toy with shitty candies.)
My dad never let me get one at the grocery store when he let me pick out a treat because they were so expensive (a whole dollar, lmao) so I desperately wanted one. They still had toys in them back then and everyone wanted one. But I'd never gotten one.
So Jody and I go trick-or-treating and we come to this quiet cul-de-sac that apparently no kids went to...? And there was this nice couple there who had clearly decided to go all-out for Halloween and they'd bought an entire box of Wonder Balls. Since no other kids had shown up, they let Jody and I take like five each and it was glorious.
I remember going back to her house and her dad had the Simpsons Halloween special on TV (fun for me as I was not allowed to watch The Simpsons back then) and we broke open our Wonder Balls and had a great night. :')

Daily reminder that fruit and veggies don't have to be "healthy" to be nutritious. Drink that fruit juice from concentrate. Eat that jam and nut butter. Use fruit and vegetables out of a can. Eat a dessert with fruit in it. Snack on salted nuts (in moderation) or dried fruit. Literally any way you can get fruit and vegetables into your body is better than none at all.
If fresh fruit and veg aren't available to you, take too much energy to eat or prepare, or if you just can't bring yourself to eat them, whatever way you can eat them is good enough.

Oikawa solos Sukuna this, Oikawa best anime villain that, may I propose this:
Hinata Shoyo is the strongest newgen mc ever, the first time he went to nationals he absolutely flattened every single one of his opponents, he was literally 3/4 everyone’s size and was still giving an assbeating to opponents who had years more experience, strength, and height than him, he n his team took down the RUNNERS UP of the previous tournament on their first try (I would literally go home crying if I was inarazaki ngl), kenma the smartest character in the show tried to shut him down but he said HELL no and instead got a massive jump buff 💀, then he went toe to toe with another little giant as his rival except that mf was literally a senior while he was a FRESHMAN with his FIRST proper volleyball team ever (like let’s not forget he didn’t even have a proper team before karasuno and it was his first go at everything and he still hauled ass and hard carried)
guys Hinata LITERALLY couldn’t be taken down by anyone except himself and his own immune system. Genuinely Atsumu said “ohhh it took all of us to take him down” WRONG literally all of you got your asses handed to you by that tiny kid and I promise he would’ve done the same to Kamomedai and gone on to win Nationals w karasuno in his first year if his own immune system didn’t betray him which is genuinely just bad luck guys like come on

My parents bought their 4 bed 3.5 bath house 32 years ago for $145,000 (originally $200,000). This summer a similar house a block away (similar age, 4 bed 3.5 bath, slightly smaller lot) went up for $800,000. It's since been reduced to $650,000 and they put some more work into it, but it's still on the market. I know interest and investment and overall cost of living raise prices, but that just seems like highway robbery to me.

Eating a "big salad" for lunch and it's gross and I hate it and I want fried chicken or oily stew. Try as I might to force-feed myself vegetables for the nominal sake of health, I Hate them, I have a toddler's palate. Anyway we have spinach, kale, carrots, purple cabbage, roasted broccoli, roasted sweet potato, chickpeas, almonds, and "green goddess" dressing, it's the least objectionable salad one could possibly assemble for my tastes and I'm making that poison sticker Yuck! face with every bite
UPD: taking the L and admitting I do feel much better physically after eating a vegetable for the first time in days lmao

This is such a funny comment, because I can't really see Jing Yuan being stressed out about something like height. I suppose height and, consequently, muscle mass are important for soldiers, but they live in a fantasy world where a girl built like a porcelain doll can swing around a great sword bigger than her entire body so...
I can't help but wonder if Jing Yuan tries to gently tease Yanqing about his height since a lot of kids are sensitive about that sort of thing, and Yanqing is just like
Yanqing, thinking: "Man, the General sure does bring up my height a lot. It must really be weighing on his mind... He's such a kind master."
Yanqing, out loud: "Don't worry, General. :) I won't let height get in the way of my career as a Cloud Knight. I'll do my best to make you proud even if I'm this short forever!"
And Jing Yuan's just standing there like 'that was a joke, son. It flew right by you.'

i have to wonder what super hardcore militant vegans think should be done about obligate carnivore animals, because in all my painfully-rapidly-approaching-30-years i've literally never actually seen anyone give a clear consistent much less halfway feasible answer on that
#mostly i've just seen like “how dare you ask questions you just want an excuse to murder you're sealioning ect”#or worse some vague and wildly improbable nonsense about like. fake robot animals covered in beyond meat or something equally convoluted#which is a thing i did see someone suggest as a serious answer#i mean i already know they think i'm a genetically inferior hateful vampire that should starve to death for the greater good#because my exact combination of health conditions make meat basically the only semi-safe way i can get close to enough nutrients#i know this because they have repeatedly told me that i'm either evil or should be sacrificed or both#and yelled at me for asking questions by bringing up the whole disabled thing and then they're like#“a lot of vegans i know are advocates for disability!” as if that ever means jack shit in the society that results from anything#no matter what you do a vast majority of people in any given society will *not* be advocates for the disabled. i'm sorry they just won't.#and what do you think public perception of people who physically can't survive like that is going to skew towards#in a society founded on the belief that non-vegan diets are evil?#at absolute best we're looking at being a heavily marginalized class generally seen as something like vampires and our existences taboo.#(as if these type's own insistence that they should be allowed to harass and shame people doesn't disprove their assertion that we won't be#thinking it could possibly go any better than that is a fucking fairy tale. human nature doesn't work that way.#you simply cannot eliminate the human desire to designate and abuse a class of have-nots. the absolute best you can do is mitigate damage.#take it from someone who's been multiple kinds of disabled and chronically ill all my life. people will not “just”. ever.#i get this even from people who are otherwise very aware of and VERY GOOD at avoiding this sort of thinking#“i'm a disability advocate!” no you are not. you are a poster. my experience has taught me that what people advocate for in their free time#means precisely jack shit for how they will actually act when faced with the situations they make otherwise rational posts about#and the fact of the matter is even if you somehow really are the perfect disability advocate a majority of people WILL NOT BE YOU.#a majority of people in society will be margrat from accounting who clutches her pearls when she sees the gays and thinks autism isnt real#and who has never had a nuanced thought in her life and actively does not want to#a vast majority of people in your Vegan Utopia will not be you and your friends who march with wheelchair users and volunteer at the shelte#a vast majority of people in your Vegan Utopia will be jenny who starved 8 cats to death on broccoli because she can't be bothered#and who thinks that “carnivores” are actual nazis and don't deserve healthcare because she saw someone say that online.#ALWAYS assume your society will be made up mostly of the worst kind of person it can because it WILL ALWAYS BE TRUE and you can't change it#most people seek the low-effort option. and evil is most often banal and low-effort.#i'm just so fucking tired of every single even vaguely lefty-adjacent political movement simultaneously acting like i don't fucking exist#and at the same time that i need to be sacrificed to achieve Utopia. god. at least conservative whackjobs are upfront and honest about#how they think that i'm a burden on society that needs to be Eugenics'd . rather than trying to morally gaslight me about it.

he also wasn’t raised believing in the faith, i thought that was clear enough.
Do you have any textual evidence to support this? Because, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all Targaryens are officially raised within the Faith of the Seven.
Even the start date is a matter of some misconception. Many assume, wrongly, that the reign of King Aegon I Targaryen began on the day he landed at the mouth of the Blackwater Rush, beneath the three hills where the city of King’s Landing would eventually stand. Not so. The day of Aegon’s Landing was celebrated by the king and his descendants, but the Conqueror actually dated the start of his reign from the day he was crowned and anointed in the Starry Sept of Oldtown by the High Septon of the Faith. This coronation took place two years after Aegon’s Landing, well after all three of the major battles of the Wars of Conquest had been fought and won. Thus it can be seen that most of Aegon’s actual conquering took place from 2–1 BC, Before the Conquest. (Fire and Blood, Aegon's Conquest)
I hate to break it to you, but the Pope doesn't "anoint" and "crown" heathens. Conversion to the Faith is a 100% non-negotiable must for this to have taken place. I'm not sure in which fantasy world you live where the high priest of a major religion performs religious & investiture ceremonies including people that don't share said religion.
And, you're right, I do support proselytism and cultural erasure. Ideally, I'd wish people renounced evil beliefs and cultural customs that drive them to human sacrifice and slavery (so as to provide fodder for their blood rituals) in order to gain access to fire-breathing creatures they can use to terrorize the known world. Yeah, I think we can do without those kinds of religions and cultures. 🥺
Still waiting for confirmation that Rhaenyra and Viserys would never have paid money to replace one item of furniture or decoration in 10 years.

some more jack and thenamesh? jacks grandparents, bens parents, come to visit as a surprise but jack is home alone with thena and gil because phastos and ben are on a date and jacks grandparents are a bit worried and confused because they don't know these people but jack is happy to say: this is my aunt thena and my uncle gil
"Jack?"
"Jaddi! Jaddati!" he smiled, rushing over to them as they closed the front door behind them.
"Hello," his grandmother leaned down, patting her grandson's head while her eyes were occupied with the strangers at the top of the stairs. "Jack, wh-who is here with you?"
Jack looked up the stairs as Aunt Thena stood first, always the most on guard when it came to meeting new people. Uncle Gil moved to stand beside her, watching things quietly. He grasped his grandmother's hand. "Jaddati, this is Aunt Thena and Uncle Gil. They're from Dad's side of the family."
Their eyes bulged, never having thought they would meet Phastos' mysterious family. They looked between themselves before trying to smile somewhat naturally. "H-How nice to meet you."
Aunt Thena watched as they ascended the stairs with Jack leading them. She took a few steps back to make room for them. But he had seen Aunt Thena meet new people before, and this was pretty normal for her.
"Aunt Thena, Uncle Gil," Jack moved between the two couples, trying to introduce them properly, like a grownup. "This is my Jaddi and Jaddati. They're Baba's parents."
Aunt Thena tilted her head at them, speaking slowly, "hello."
"Uh," Uncle Gil tried more to smile at them, "h-hi. Ben's family--we've heard about you!"
"Really?"
Jack twisted his lips as the events unfolded. They weren't being unfriendly, but there was something not quite right, either. He looked between both sets of people in his life. "Aunt Thena and Uncle Gil helped Dad save the world!"
His Jaddati smiled, clearing her throat and toying with the edge of her hijab. "Jack has such a wonderful imagination."
Thena just barely got her mouth open before Gil wrapped his arm around her waist. "Kids are great for that."
"Phastos has such a, uh," his Jaddi floundered, touching his hands to his jeans, "broad family tree. Where have you come from?"
"We are visiting from Australia," Aunt Thena finally spoke up. "Phastos and Ben were kind enough to open their home to us during our stay."
"Ah, yes," Jaddati smiled at them, the edges of it still shaky. "A-And how long are you staying?"
Uncle Gil and Aunt Thena just looked at each other. As far as Jack knew, they were staying until they had to go back to Australia for some reason or another. Maybe to do house stuff? Jaddi and Jaddati spend half the year back east, maybe his aunt and uncle would do the same with their home back in Australia.
"Until we have outstayed our welcome."
Jack eyed his grandparents. He could understand why they were nervous around his other relatives. Dad said everyone from their family just...had that effect on people (humans).
His grandmother straightened her shoulders and moved closer to the other woman present, both of them tall and statuesque when eye to eye. "Thena, was it?"
"It was."
She continued despite the peculiar woman naming herself Jack's aunt. "We have had the pleasure of knowing Phastos for a very long time now, and having him as a son for some of that has been a blessing."
Jack watched Aunt Thena closely. She had little things about her that could tell him a lot about how she was feeling. He caught the way her shoulders lowered faintly and her hands became less tightly clasped closed.
"I understand that there was a time when you were all," Jaddati searched for the right word, "separated."
Uncle Gil's hand slid over Aunt Thena's, moving their fingers together.
"But Phastos is a good man, and my son married the right person for him." Jaddati straightened her shoulders more, matching Aunt Thena's rigid posture. "And it is through them both we were given Jack. So I am thankful to your brother, and that he was brought into our lives."
Gil raised his eyebrows. Thena smiled at the human woman.
"Family of Phastos'," his grandmother held out her hands to Thena, "is family of ours."
Thena observed the hands for just a second before slowly holding her own to mirror the position. Her pale ones slipped against the hands of Jack's grandmother's. She blinked. "You have aged remarkably well."
"Thena!" Uncle Gil pinched her side, making her make a face at him. He chuckled, smiling at Jack's grandmother especially, "s-sorry. We, uh, don't get out much."
But Jaddati smiled, the same way Baba smiled at Aunt Thena when they were getting along so well. "It was a compliment, was it not?"
"It was."
Uncle Gil sighed. He often said he wanted Aunt Thena to meet and get along with more humans. Well, Jack thought this was a perfect opportunity! "Hey!"
Thena and Jaddati both looked at him sharply.
"Uh," he lost some nerve but tried to stay strong, clasping his hands in front of him (if he acted cute, maybe they would agree). "W-We should all do something together."
"Like what?" Uncle Gil chuckled, the way he did when he was humouring him.
"The..." Jack eyed his collective family, looking at him expectantly. "Movies?"
"I do believe your fathers have said that your screen time is too much this week already."
Jaddati looked at Thena, clearly pleased with her input. She put her hands on her hips, "you should listen to your aunt, Jack."
He sighed, looking down at his feet, "yes, Jaddati."
"What about this?" his grandfather held his hands out, eager to salvage the bonding moment. "We were going to take Ben and Phastos and Jack out to dinner when we arrived. We can call them and meet them in the city--all five of us!"
"That's a great idea!" Gil joined in, especially eager to bond over food, even more especially with their new extended family. He looked at Thena, "c'mon, baby, please?"
Jack and Jaddati both looked at Thena, who visibly squirmed, trying to look away from Gil's big puppy dog eyes. Jack made the same expression, pressing his hands together, "pretty please, Aunt Thena?"
All three humans - plus her husband - witnessed the second her resolve melted in the face of her nephew. "Very well."
"Yes! It's gonna be great, I promise!"
Jack's grandparents traded a look as he skipped and wrapped his arms around his aunt's torso. She didn't seem entirely natural about the physical affection, but her hand could not have been gentler as she laid it atop Jack's head.
"Wash your hands and wear something warm," she directed.
"Okay!" he agreed readily in his excitement. He took Jaddi and Jaddati's hands again. "You should bring your stuff in here. And you can sit next to me at dinner! Aunt Thena sits next to me too, because she doesn't always like food that's not Uncle Gil's, but she'll go halvesies with me no matter what I get."
