Why are college websites sooo stingy with their details, I just want to know what the course actually entails, like what are the concepts they're actually teaching, and they're like oh we're too cool and aloof and mysterious, we can't let you know that, teehee, now sign up for my email list that just redirects you to the home page, boy.

i hate the idea that annie is a weak person just because of her trauma and mental health issues. i would love to see everyone stop completely infantilizing her just based on her reaction to trauma.
yes, she is vulnerable and clearly deeply impacted by everything but that doesn’t mean she was always just a weak little girl. she still could have volunteered. she still could have chosen to go to the games.
yes, losing her most significant support system after everything was another layer of deep trauma. that doesn’t mean she couldn’t have still found joy in her life afterwards.
people can have significant mental health issues and still be capable people. people can have significant mental health issues and still have lives worth living.
adults with significant mental health issues are still adults and shouldn’t be reduced to their trauma and pain.

Was thinking earlier about “People are not stupid, Ives.” “Really?” and how Ives’ self-centered misanthropy is so important within the larger thematic context of American Imperialism. Imperialists prioritize their own interests over all others since they believe that those they have deemed “others” are unworthy of human consideration. On an individual level, this comes down to believing that you are better than other people, more worthy of life and happiness.
This is how Hart ends up working with Ives as a willing coconspirator… Even before Colqhoun’s arrival, Hart clearly looks down on the other residents of Fort Spencer. He describes them so uncharitably to Boyd that it isolates Boyd from everyone before he’s even met them. Hart hates his job and the life he lived that got him there and he copes by believing that he is, at least, a superior type of person to everyone under his command.
In that way, Hart killing his former comrades in cold blood doesn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the logical conclusion of his superior, misanthropic perspective pushed to the extreme. He’s better than them, so why SHOULDN’T he kill and eat them? Don’t you understand? You have to KILL! to live! You have to KILL!!!!!!!
#ravenous 1999#of course - he ultimately broke down because he wasn’t as far gone down that path as Ives#but i find him to be a more realistic example of the way someone with an attitude of superiority would react in that situation#they might not be able to go through with it long-term but how hard would it be to convince them to start initially?#especially if they could justify that their hand was forced (like Hart with his near death experience)#and he may never have stopped if not for Boyd’s intervention#with Boyd being someone who certainly got frustrated with people and was aware of their flaws#but never viewed himself as an inherently superior person#bc the residents of Fort Spencer are certainly flawed people#but they all display significant positive traits as well#but you don’t hear Hart mention any of those when he introduces them to Boyd (and us the audience)…#their humanity reveals itself to us as the film goes on#and they really did that… they really gave each character a little something extra beyond the 2-D archetype they were based on#and that’s why Ravenous 1999 is everything to me#thank you for coming to my TED talk

its sooo fun how dungeons reveal the psyche of the dungeon lord like. thistles dungeon was so planned and meticulous but so full of ghosts and unravelling at the end. mithruns dungeon was apparently so convoluted and 'made out of jealousy, lies, anger and inferiority'. marcilles dungeon was like.... that lmao, everything being brought to the same level with no real regard for what that might do to the ecosystem, and laios' dungeon ultimately ends up spilling out onto the surface. becoming one with it you might say

Rosie at the flak house is like... he's compartmentalising... he's holding it together, but he's scared that if he stops, actually stops, he won't be able to get in the saddle again. That if he actually thinks about Munster, then he won't be able to stop thinking about it.
It's Rosie keeping to himself almost the entire time he's there, watching from afar - watching his men laugh together and cry alone - but just that, watching, and never with them. It's Rosie not sleeping, it's Rosie and this underlying sense of dread of how the hell he's going to get back in the plane.
Then - it's Rosie's conversation with the doctor. Rosie's the drummer, and yes, he has to keep his own beat, but he has to keep everyone else's beat too. If Rosie's rhythm is disrupted, then his crew's rhythm is disrupted. And it's only then, that pushes Rosie to pull up a chair and sit with and comfort his crew at the flak house.
#i really felt like from this whole episode that rosie couldn't really admit it to himself that there is a#Possibility that he might not be ok but the love his men trumps everything and he realises he needs to be there for them#like rosie keeps everything inside#he really is a brick wall sometimes and doesn't give much up#so the scene of him finding the rhythm to get back in the plane was so good and felt so real to me#the doctor read him so well tho#realising he's not going to get through to rosie through trying to convince him he needs to take care of himself but instead using rosie's#crew as motivation to help rosie process what happened to him#rosie loves his boys and he may not be able to acknowledge his own trauma but he will love and care for the others (and by doing that he#also is able to do a better job at taking care of himself#rosie rosenthal#robert rosenthal#masters of the air#tv: masters of the air#ch: rosie

the way evanora possesses agatha again when she says "i can be good", like she wants to prove her own view that her daughter cant be. making alice attack her evanora, almost recreating what happened in the trial a little bit, making this new coven see what agatha will do (again, not on purpose), and making them turn on her

The smart ones realized there wasn't much there, the stupid ones that tried to steal the statue of himself or ransack the place anyway were given strong convincing to leave. Or never left at all...
... But it wasn't thieves, this time. No, it was a couple of lost children. Hm.
The wind swirls around the temple with Khonshu's presence, standing off to the side to decide if he should try to reach out. They are innocent travelers of the night, and if they're here seeking shelter, they may have it.

#[weeping] all the interesting topics are taken and all the trendy theoretical viewpoints are incomprehensible#i know it doesnt have to be good - you just have to graduate - but. sjjsjsjs. my topic is something i've been passionate about for years an#i keep getting depressed thinking about how i might not be able to convince anyone (most importantly the evaluators) that it matters#i'm basically doing [one facet of hugely controversial theme endlessly written about for years] [comparative approach] [unused sources]#but like. so often in history it's like 'well the sources have not been used for a reason and the reason is who gives a shit' sjsjjsjd#i miss when i typed one name in a search engine and based my entire BA thesis on that and it worked somehow KJADJSFKJSJFHSVJ#now i have to go to 5 different archives in 2 different countries and maybe everything was burned/destroyed already lol#also i've been studying for a historiography exam and. so disillusioned with the prospect of a phd. did you know in finland in the 60s one#guy really wanted to work on 17th and 18th century history and because he was the most important professorguy he got like 12 ppl to only#write theses based on that. and cos of his connections those people later filled nearly all history professor positions that existed#like. you CAN go to write a phd on a fun topic but really you should try to be mommy/daddy's special favourite and do everything they ask#and then MAYBE you can get an academic job later jsjsjjd. or you might just waste 6-10 years being their servant and just not get anything#university
