Mk x spray painter Male reader ☁️☁️
So if you don't know, Yes this already existed, my old account was deleted (accident but I can tell I won't be getting it back), and am reposting my old x male reader works!
I don't know if I saved all of them but here is one that was saved to my AO3 account.
Edit: So shuffling through my docs It's been brought to my attention that wattpad (who I use as backup) Cut a lot of my fics in half??? anyway I'll be trying to fix that also
-----------------------------------------------------
Aaaahhhh this is such a cute idea!!!
Mk sees male reader spray painting on a wall and what's to join/try it out!
Warning: None!! Just super cute and mushy
Requested by: ekkozied
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the most part you started this mural on your own. The building owner wanting to brighten up the alley walkway to their backyard cafĂŠ, and well, the pay was really good. A quick in and out job really.
So you didn't mind cleaning it up and prepping the wall, what you didn't expect was just...how big the wall actually was.
Letting out a breathe you step back shaking the can of black paint as you eye the sketch you placed. Took you since this early morning, and by the sound of your stomach. It was definitely time for lunch.
Doing some stretches and fully opening your bag of spray paints. You felt in the mood for something pretty light but filling.
"Hmm, Pigsy's noodles it is"
Your stomach ended up making you buy 2 servings...
-------------
It didn't take long for your food to arrive, and while it wasn't your order you couldn't help but look back at the cute delivery driver.
Wide eyed and curious, Mk quickly was distracted by the mess of empty paint cans and the sketch you had on the wall. "Woah this looks so cool! How long have you been doing this!?" he shouts in excitement turning to you, seeing you on the ground eating.
You pause to swallow then grin "Thanks! A bit of a hobby, uh spray painting or working on this?"
"Yes." Mk asks
Letting out a snorted laugh you wave him to join you, which he does sitting close, "Let's see, I've been into art and specifically spray painting since middle school I think. Been working on this commission since 4 am? maybe 5?"
Mk gasps dramatically going a small tangent about hoping you at least took a break or how he couldn't even focus on being still for that long. to which as you watch him suddenly start organizing your empty cans, could tell.
"I like to draw and everything but I never branched out of sketches? Can't even imagine spray painting."
You tilt your head finishing up your bowl of noodles and getting up with a content stretch. Fully charged and ready to work.
"Well how about giving it a try now?"
Mk shakes his head watching as you pull out the colors you plan to use. "What!? Oh no no no! I would ruin it, what if I make a huge mess and then-" You interrupt him but handing over an orange spray can. Looking up at you Mk blushes at the calm and soft smirk you give him.
"I'll help if it's needed but that's the fun with spray painting. It dries quick and you can always paint over any mistakes." you wink stepping back and picking up a blue can. "So go wild delivery man."
Looking at the can Mk smiles a little. "Call me Mk."
---------------
You both had fun for hours, coloring in your design and every now and then when mk stayed in one spot too long, getting it on each other.
It was a big piece so day after day, mk came with lunch and a helping hand (When you allowed it). Laughing and tossing cans to one another, it was care free and even when you put on the finishing touches, mk stuck around around, watching you work and talking calmly about his recent training session or frustrations.
You catch yourself, when you start feeling excited when the time for lunch came around. Inwardly trying to keep your cool when when you both were tired, mk leans his head on your shoulder for a quick nap.
Falling asleep with him may have caused a slight scene, someone passing by thinking there was an accident (You guys forgot to clean up the red paint...).
He found himself, really relaxing with you. It was different than with mei which confused him at first. Till one day, it was just a little too hot and you took off your shirt to keep working and not get a heat stroke. Yeah. this feel was very different, that and he felt genuinely safe with you (emotionally of course).
-----------------
So when it was all said in done you both couldn't help but feel a little bit sad.
You came to deeply enjoy the hyper man, find him cute and a great talker for times of burn out. And he adored the time with just having fun uninterrupted with someone he....well he realized he was starting to catch feelings for.
It shouldn't have been too much of a surprised when Mk suddenly asks you out. In the middle of cleaning your equipment up, you jolt as you feel him take hold of your arm. you see how he couldn't really look at you, his cheeks a deep red and shifting as if shy.
"Mk?"
He's quiet then with a deep breathe, looks at you straight in the eyes with all the determination and adoration he had.
"WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME N/N!"
Blinking at the outburst then seeing how he started to fidget more, it finally registered what he asked/shout.
Blushing you smile brightly.
"I would love too."

Weekly Update December 15, 2023
Finals week is done. I’m still worried about the one class but I’ve done everything I can. Next week I have some doctor appointments but otherwise am good to rest up and hopefully get more work done. I have tonight and tomorrow morning also before I have to do a long drive, so maybe I’ll finish off some other projects.
TRGA: 1-4 Tim’s tweens are done, and I have what I think is a faster strategy for tweens now as well, so all that should be moving faster. I just need to do Tim’s face and clean up his joints and he should be good for the shot, I can make and add in props and I’ll post the wip. I’m planning to do backgrounds all in one go at the end so they stay consistent from shot to shot, and sketch lines as well. I’ll probably do some of the more tedious work (exporting and reimporting sketch lines, and cleanup) in the evenings and the more brain intensive work like props during real free time.
Still chipping away at late drawing prompts. I got the rest of the Inktober set sketched, I’m nearing the ‘easy’ prompts for the cringe set, and the gore set I just haven’t had motivation for but I can maybe try to finish that one off in the next few days. Also haven’t gotten comic thumbnail stuff done since like 2 weeks ago but I might get cracking at that in the car ride tomorrow, or definitely after, there’s a lot more interest in my OCs than I thought so I really should be prioritizing that higher.
Music: real close on the one song, and recorded pieces for a piano arrangement of another thing. I wanted to doll it up with real instruments, and maybe I still will but I can also do a just piano version and throw that out. The main original I’m working on is close to done instrumentally, I was going to record the breakdown tonight but I’m a bit tired because I decided to do some chores, so maybe it’ll be tomorrow or maybe I will do it tonight. Also started poking around Melodies for a second song before realizing my retro sound chip plug-in set is a pain in the neck and will only play one note at a time so I need like 5 or 6 layers to do what I want and also the gameboy chip has hella delay for some reason. Not unfixable but annoying. Theoretically I should be moving to a new computer soonish so maybe I can try out some voice synths for the main song I’m working on since I don’t think I can sing.
I’m kinda hitting that tiredness wall but I should hopefully be able to get some rest in the coming week, get some stuff together to post, and be nice and ready. I should also mention I have a surgery coming up too which should take me out of commission for some time, idk how long, doesn’t sound very long though, at least not as long as the last one. That’s not until the week of christmas though so I should still be good to do stuff until then. Maybe I’ll draw tonight, maybe I won’t since it’s already late. I’ve been getting weird bouts of restlessness where I just decide to do a bunch of things at once, but I think I already got one when I decided to do chores. Oh well always tomorrow.

I'm completely time blind and chronically late, so I feel you. Some things that help me even if they sound a bit silly:
Having multiple alarms/reminders during the day just about the time. Like, I have alarms on my phone that tell me when it's 9am, 1pm, 5pm during weekdays. I don't have to do anything in particular, it just helps me to have a better sense of time. I see that it's that time of the day and I can check if I have to do something or have been doing something for too long and so on.
Not being in charge of time management when possible. I know this is hard, but if you have someone you trust that is good with time, ask for help. For example, my sister helps me a lot of we have to go somewhere together by setting specific times for when to start to get ready and leave. Or I can just ask her how long she thinks I'll need to prepare for something, so I can set alarms and stuff. Or I can ask some friends to meet me or pick me up before an appointment so that they can help keeping me on time. Of course this is not always possible, but you'd be surprised by how much people can be willing to help.
Timing regular things with songs! This is one of my favourites and a very common technique. You can use playlists if you want to be very precise, or just average song time. Like, showering last 3 songs, so if the fourth one starts or the music stops and you are still in, you know you got distracted and it's time to get out. Your playlist is 1:30h long and last from waking up till leaving the house for work. You know that when this song is on, you should be having breakfast and so on. It works as a time reminder but it's pleasant.
Count extra time as part of the schedule. Like, your appointment is at 5pm, but you have +10min of extra time, so you need to be there at 4:50pm. If you think of extra time as being on time it won't work because you know that it's not the real time. The extra time is for emotional need. Like, you walked there so you need a moment of quite from all the chaos in the street. You need to drink your water or have a gum. You won't be able to check your phone during the appointment so you want to check before. It's going to be stressing so you need to read a little bit to relax. You want to go to the bathroom. You need a little snack. Whatever works for you. But counting extra time will give you leeway. Best case scenario, you arrive at 4:50: not only you will be on time, but you also have plenty of time for whatever your personal needs are. Most likely scenario: you will arrive between 4:50 and 5: you don't have as much you time as planned, but will still be on time for the appointment. Worst case scenario you will arrive at 5 or shortly after: on time or almost, that is still more than usual, so progress.
Have something with you at all times that can fill waiting time. I hate waiting. No one likes it, but adhd people often are even worse with it. Sometimes I am late because even if I got ready on time, I didn't leave until last minute because I wanted to avoid having to wait. Having something to fill waiting times is very helpful. Idle or puzzle games on the phone or Webtoons are good for <15min waits. Books (especially digital since it's easier to have at all times), webtoons, a sketch pad or yarn for longer times.
At the end it really depends on why you are usually late, and solving that will be the best way to solve the issue, but I hope some of my methods can help you or at least inspire you.
perhaps the most important question i’ve ever asked:
does anyone have tips for people trying to stop being chronically late to everything in the world that aren’t weirdly judgmental and aggressive or flat out lies

Updates and Such
Hi!
So, the whole moving out and me and my friends getting a place together thing fell through hard and getting an apartment on my own and re-setting up most likely isn't going to happen for a good while, at least a few more months, while I get my finances sorted out and find a new place that's within my current budget and is actually taking new residents. I don't really want to wait that much longer to get back to drawing though, I've been missing it really badly and I've already been gone longer than I wanted to be, so I got a cheap laptop and I'm ready to get back on it right now.
I think making a list of goals and stuff will help me better keep myself on track here like it has in real life so here's what to expect to see coming and what I plan on working on in terms or art progress and projects.
1. Create a consistent posting schedule. Most likely my posting day for here and DeviantArt will be every other Wednesday because that's what day I'm off work. What I'll post and how much I'll post at a time will vary depending on a lot of things.
2. Work on getting better at anatomy, specifically human anatomy with a focus on head shape, variety and structure, hands, body types and structure, posing and foreshortening.
3. Work on creating a better balance between posing original art and fanart.
4. Work on sketch studies of various things, people, animals, places, ect.
5. Update all sites on what's going on and clean up there too.
6. Get set up on AO3 so I can begin working on my writing and get to posting those fanfic and story ideas I've been sitting on for a while. I'll be making two accounts to keep SFW content and not sperate as well as posting here. This one may take longer to get going because I'm not even slightly confident in my writing.
.Fix up and repost some of my old content, I won’t be doing this for every picture just a few, I already have 3 ready to post.
.General clean up.
I'll be posting a list of various projects I have set up soon. Thanks for reading and have a good day or night!

Chapter 3 || Chapter 5
Author Note: I would have included the sex scene in this chapter but I’m feeling real slutty for a parallel with the first chapter.
You don’t wake up from your alarm blaring right next to your ear causing your heart to lurch in your chest. You simply wake up. There is not even that small moment where you feel like you’re about to cry like a baby because you want to go back to sleep. You feel refreshed, good, ready for the day and that stupid final exam.
You still don’t want to get out of bed. At least not yet. You want to enjoy this time laying in Sukuna’s bed before your thoughts catch up to you. Everything is so warm and comfy, and you slept so well. The kind where you wake up with sheet impressions, drool dried across your cheek and soaking into the pillow. Only you weren’t laying on a pillow.
You sit up abruptly, waking Sukuna up with a startled grunt. Sukuna hates when people disturb his sleep. But all his anger dissipates when he cracks his eyes and sees your face staring back down at him. Your face is red with embarrassment. Dried slobber glues a few stands of hair to your cheek. You look so cute like this.
 “I’m sorry.”
His face falls. What did you have to be sorry for? What is for the past week? Couldn’t you just forget about that for a little while longer and enjoy a morning with him?
“I-I drooled all over your shoulder.”
Oh, was that it? Why do minuscule things like this make you sound so guilty? You did this same thing last night too when you left your tears soaked into his shirt.
“If it bothers you that much in can invest in something more waterproof to wear around you. Did you sleep as good as it looks?”
You nod, “Yea, it was the best sleep I’ve had in a while actually.”
Sukuna smiles triumphantly and folds his hands behind his head. “Good. Then you should be rested enough to tell me what the hell’s been going on with you.”
“You know a small part of me was holding out hope that you would have forgotten about that long enough for me to sneak out.”
“Ha, not a chance doll. In fact, I might not even let you leave this bed,” waking up to the warmth and weight of your body alone was enough to arouse him. He really did have it that bad for you.
“And how would you plan on doing that?” the banter came out easily.
The tattooed man just has to give you that stare and lick his lips to cause your cheeks to heat up.
“Would be ashamed if you had to miss that final of yours.”
‘Would it?’ because honestly losing yourself in these sheets with Sukuan didn’t sound as bad as it should.
“So come on, out with it.”
“I’ve…” though you weren’t tired, and you can actually think, this is still hard to put into words, “I really fucked up. I’ve been such a horrible person. A horrible, stupid person.”
“And how have you been so horrible and foolish?”
“I- oh god,” you have to look away from Sukuna. Choosing instead to focus on the scattered sketching paper atop his desk. “I had this really big stupid schoolgirl crush on you when I first started to hang out with Yuji. You know, like, the best friend's hot older brother kind of crush.
But then I started to get close to everyone and I was like ‘wow this is what having real friends feels like. Which, I know, sounds pretty lame. But just having formed like Yuji, and Nobara and Megumi made me realize that all the friends I had back home were so…surface level. They wouldn’t hold my hair back when I got sick. They didn’t care if I was overworking myself. They really just cared about reputational and how we looked out friend’s group looked to those outside of it. But that’s beside the point.
The point is that I was afraid of losing that. Of being all alone at this big new school. I was so afraid of losing these first real friendships that started to make up reasons why we wouldn’t be a good match. But then I had to start thinking about why we wouldn’t be good together. And I guess- no I know at some point all those reasons kept telling myself just started to sort of snowball until I was making all these assumptions about you being a bad person. But you were never one in the first place, ok wall not as bad of one as I made you out to be.
You had feelings for me this whole time I and I just fucked that all up with the way I acted and made assumptions.
I wanted to apologize for the way I always thought the worst of you even when you were trying to be a good person to me. But I was so stressed and tired, and I could barely think of anything beyond finals and work, and I wanted to give you a genuine apology. I want to give everyone a genuine apology for pushing them away. I just don’t know if I can find the right words. I mean would an apology even do anything. What if I already ruined everything e with everyone?”
You take in a shaky breath. Sukuna is relieved. This wasn’t something that was entirely his doing. He is still confused.
 “Why did you say had?”
You look back to Sukuan mimicking his face of confusion, “When? I kind of just word vomited there. I’ve surprised that was all coherent.”
“You said I have feelings for you.”
“Oh,” you guess you did, and you are remained how much that realization hurt. “Uhm yea, I ruined my chance with you- “Sukuna’s bedroom walls blur for a moment, and you find yourself under an annoyed-looking Sukuna quickly laying back in bed with him.
Sukuna just stays there above you, hand on either side of you. Just glaring, saying nothing to help you figure out what was going on in his head.
 “Um, Sukuna- “
 “Shut up. I’m thinking.”
 “Of?”
 “I said shut up.”
You open your mouth to say something, but you really can’t think of anything besides the fact that Sukuan isn’t always angry or annoyed. He just has a resting bitch face, doesn’t he?
“I’m shit when it comes to bluntly say stuff like this. I’m not all for deep emotional talks and all that. I can see how I came off like the arrogant ass to you. And you were never full wrong in those assumptions as being arrogant and an occasional ass is my brand of charm. It still wasn’t ok for you to go making assumptions like that. I should have just come out and said that I liked you a long time ago instead of beating around the bush and hoping you’d get the message”
You blink up at Sukuna who continues to look down at you waiting for a response. But all you can think of to say at the moment is, “You still like me.”
Sukuna sighs and his eyes flutter close, “My god y/n seriously?”
 “What? I- “
“Yes, I am fucking like you. I like so many things about you. I like how you can look like you’re about to take on the work and win. I like that I can be myself around Yuji and you aren’t intimidated by me. I Like that you call me out on shit and don’t back down until I apologize. I like your body. Fuck, your body is amazing. And when you dress business casual? Holy fuck y/n, that shit drives me crazy-
You slap a hand over Sukuna’s mouth before he can go on. “Ok ok! I get it now. I- I just wow. I- “a smile breaks out across your face and giddiness blooms in your chest.
Sukuna licks the palm of your hand, and you jerk it back. He’s smiling too. So, you did get to see that softness his face can take again after all. Your hands come to cup Sukuna's face, and he lets you pull him down closer to you.
 “So does this mean….”
 “Mean what?”
“Well since we both still have feelings does it mean, ya know,” you try again hoping he’d catch on
And Sukuan has caught on, he’s just Sukuna. “Oh, of course, we can doll, 12/10 dick right?”
“No- I mean that too, but does this mean that we can, ya know.”
“No, I don’t,” he says then drops his voice to that sinful tone. “You got to use your words doll.”
It’s too early for him to sound that hot and make you feel this turned on. But it works he wins. “Does this mean we can date?”
 “I thought that was obvious.”
“So, is that a yes then?”
“Yes,” Sukuan rolls his eye but closes the tiny distance between you two. Between the small kisses, Sukuan confirms,” We’re dating. You’re my girlfriend. I’m your boyfriend. We’re lovers now. In a relationship. Together. Spoken for.”
You don’t let him pull away that time. Your hands slide up, combing your fingers through his short pink locks. All it takes is a nibble on your bottom lip to deepen the kiss. You two stay like this, engrossed in each other until you need a deep breath.
You turn your face away from Sukuan apologizing as you catch your breath,” Sorry, I probably have morning breath.”
 “Rancid.”
 “Shut up.”
“We should get up anyway. You need to get ready.
Sukuna rolls off you so that you can get out of bed and go about your daily routine of getting ready. Since you’re final was just a written exam you don’t need to dress up which is good because you don’t have any clean clothes. In fact, after going through your morning skincare routine and brushing your teeth you decide to just stay in leggings and Sukuna’s hoodie.
Downstairs in the kitchen, Yuji’s grandfather is at the stove fishing up a pan of bacon. At the table, Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi excitedly wait for everything to be finished up. When everyone looks at you, you’re suddenly at a loss for words. Or more specifically there are so many words swirling in your head that you don’t know where to start.
So, your left with your mouth gapingly like a fish out of water. You’ve ever apologized to friends before. You never had friends to apologize to before. Anything before the three were fake. fake smiles, fake happiness. This was real. This is something you don’t want to lose. So, an apology might be a good place to start.
“I’m sorry. I-I shouldn’t have, um shut everyone out like I have.”
“And?” Sukuna’s voice behind you makes you jump.
“Um, I-I’ve just never had friends like your guys, and I didn’t know how to do this, apologize that is. I still don’t think I’m doing right, like saying sorry isn’t enough. But here I am trying,”
“And?” Sukuna urger’s again and you rack your brain for more words to grab onto.
“I promise to not do it again. If I’m having a hard time, I’ll talk to someone.”
 “And?”
“I just really don’t want to lose you guys as friends, you’re like the first real friend I’ve had. Sad sounding but true.”
 “And?”
And? and what else. What was she missing? What else was there to tell?
“Um, me and Sukuna are dating now.”
 “And?”
“I hope he doesn’t make things awkward.”
And?” Sukuna's tone is amused, and you don’t pick up on it because you’re still stuck on thinking that you’re missing something.
“We’ll um, we’ll work out system. Like a sock on the doorknob or something so that no one walks – “
“Nope, don’t even go there,” their grandfather cuts in pointing the spatula over your shoulder. “And you, stop torturing the poor girl. She’s said enough.”
“Gramps is right. Sorry was enough.” Yuji adds.
“I just wanted to see how long she’d go on for.”
You turn your head to glare over your shoulder, “you are an ass.”
“And you’re very attracted to it,” He retorts stealing a quick kiss and then heading on into the kitchen.
You do your best to suppress a mile and follow suit. You feel lighter. Happier than you’ve been all week. Everything has come to a head and passed. This is what has come after, and it is nice. You had thought of the worst-case scenario, but never the best-case scenario. You and Sukuan have taken a seat at the table.
 “So, who confessed?” Nobara asks
“Um, you,” you point at Sukuna who laughs.
“Not a chance. You the one would have to ask multiple times to make sure we were dating.”
“But you did confess to me first.”
 “Nope. You did.”
 “I did?”
“You probably didn’t nice it because you were just rambling on and on.”
“I- “you cut yourself off and slump your shoulders because yea that sounds like something you would do.
 “I win,” Megumi pipes up.
“Oh?”, you curiously ask,” what’d you guys bet on?”
Sukuna didn’t share in your amused curiosity,” You three dweebs bet of us?”
“We bet on who would confess the feelings first,” Nobara corrected and went on to explain,” Megumi was the only one who bet on y/n I bet you would, and Yuji bet that neither of you would nor we would continue to a bear witness to the great pinning.”
 “I was not pining.”
Their grandfather comes over from the stove to place down the plate of bacon with the rest of the food he’s cooked.
“Oh yes you were and even I was getting fed up with it,” He gripes while taking a seat on the other side of Sukuna.
“I wouldn’t call it pining…”  Sukuna’s continued protest now seemed more like pouting that no one paid any mind to being too busy filling their plates.
“So, what finals you kids got left?”
“I’m the only one with a final today, right?”
The three other students nod in agreement with their plates now full.
Wasuke grits his teeth then snaps at the three,” Then why the hell did I cook breakfast for you three if you ain’t even got finals anymore?”
 “Reward?” Yuji offers.
“I thought you said last night you were going to make breakfast because you didn’t trust me to make it.”
“Certainly not after that little comment you made last night,” There is a pointed tone on Wasuke’s scolding.
Sukuna, being as arrogant as he is, leans back on his chair and swings an arm across the back of your chair. You realize too late that he was seizing this as another opportunity to make your face beat red. “Who am I to judge my girlfriend's taste? If she likes a little something extra on her eggs, why am I to deny her that? “He cuts her eye to you. “Especially when I have so much of it.”
Megumi scrunches his face up. “Do we even- “
“ANWAY!” you nearly screech. “My final. It’s with professor Ully.”
 “Ully, that old geezer?”
Yuji scoffs trying to stifle his laugh. “I don’t think you much younger than him gramps.”
“At least I know how to use the godman Blackboard.”
“Amen to that.” You raise a glass of orange juice Sukuna had poured for you. “He’s the one that doesn’t everything on paper remember.”
Nobara hums putting the pieces together,” Oh gross, and isn’t your final, like an essay questions test?”
 “Exactly.”
Breakfast goes on like this, light conversation and complaining about the semester’s professors with Wasuke throwing in a bit of gossip here and there with that gripey tone of his that almost made it seem like he was uninterested in the whole thing.
When breakfast finished Waskue hades upstairs to pack for his end-of-the-year fishing trip. With the five of you on clean-up, it only takes a few minutes. You and Sukuna take up washing and drying the dishes.
“So, the strip tonight?” he asks.
The strip was one street a few blocks from campus that was just bars. You and the gang plus Sukuna would always go bar hopping to celebrate the end of another semester. You have some fond memoirs of stumbling home, laughing, and drunkenly trying to order from whatever fast-food place was nearby. Sukuna would have left you four longs before then with his arm wrapped around someone’s waist and his hand lips against their ear. You don’t tell him how would take a shot of something strong to burn away the pang of jealously. You wanted to be the one he wraps up his arms. The one who he was probably whispering sweet and lewd little nothings to.
  And now you were.
“This will be the first time going out with a partner. Do you think you can behave yourself? Will it be too jarring for you?”
“You trying to tease me doll but you’re failing so bad l. I’m just wondering if you’ll leave early with me or am I going to have to take your drunk ass to get Taco Bell.”
  “Leave early?”
He nods tossing a glance over his shoulder before dropping his voice so that only you would hear him. “I get wanting to celebrate, but I want to take you home tonight and make love to you.”
A little noise gets alighting the break of your thought.
 “What?”
“Didn’t expect you to ever use the phrase ‘make love to you,” you admit handing him another plate to dry.
“I think it’s a nice way to encompass all the things I wanna do to you.”
“And what sort of things do you wanna do to me.”
Sukuna smirks and explains “I would offer to take you up to my room and show you, but I’d hate for you to miss your final. But if you must know I want to fuck you the way I wanted to fuck you that night.”
“Oh,” is all you can say because your head gets a little fuzzy at the thought of it.
 “That’s all?”, his face falters
“No. Just- my mind went a little blank at the thought of mushy gushy romantic sex with you.”
And the arrogant smirk is back.” Oh, I’ll make you so gushy you won’t be nothing but a puddle who can’t even think.”
“OK!” Yuji slaps his hand on the counter he was just wiping down, “If this is gnat to work, we need a ground rule here. No dirty talking or anything dirty of the sort while in our presence got it.”
You’re unable to hold back a snort of laughter and hold up your soapy gloves. “We’ll be sure they stay three whole bibles lengths apart.” even going so far as to take a step away from the tattooed man.
“As far as you’re concerned little brother, we abstinence. No kissing until marriage.”
You two break that vow right before you head out for your final. Sukuna wraps his arm around your waist and spins you around to give you another quick peck on the lips. You can’t stop the giddy giggles on the way out. It just feels so nice to finally be able to not hide your feeling or deny you have them anymore
“You know we are happy for you.” Nobara notes as the for of you walk to campus. “But can we please keep the verbal fucking down to a minimum?”
“Thanks, and I promise I will try my best. I can’t say the same for Sukuna. Now, what are we wearing tonight?”
Your final went just how you thought it would. Quick but painful. Your hand is cramping so bad as you make your way back to your dorm. Your roommate is still at her final, singing her lungs out in a place that isn’t the dorm. Something you are extremely thankful for
You spend the rest of the day clearing up the disaster left behind by the week and lounging around in bed still in Sukuna’s hoodie. You smile goofily to yourself because that was another plus to dating Sukuna now; you don’t have to buy warmer clothes. It would be a con for Sukuna since he was about to have a lot of lees holies and crew necks.
When it gets dark you get ready for the night and head over to Nobars’s dorm to help her get ready. The boys meet you at the edge of campus. In the semesters before Sukuna would have simply given you a smirk and some sort of teasing remark. He still doesn’t that, only with the added part of tucking you to his side and keeping you warm on the walk over.
Something else is different though. It’s not something wrong. At least you don’t think it is despite the uneasiness churning in the pit of your stomach. It’s not something that everyone else seems to notice either so maybe it's just you. But what is it? What was making you feel so nervous?
“Doll?” Sukuna finally asks while in lone for the I.D check after you’ve been quiet the whole way to their first bar.
 “Hm?” you look up.
“You just seem to be in your head.”
“Oh, I’m fine- “you stop as you look continues to look into Sukuna’s face, it has the same hits of concern from last night. You suddenly remember what caused that concern and how you might be doing it again. “I um, well…I think I’m nervous. I’m just not very sure why?”
Sukuna watches you gnaw on your bottom lip. He can practically see your mind working overtime to try and figure it out. He knows that it’s a lot more than just some nerves, but at least you not trying to hide that something’s bothering you. The line moves up and Yuji gets his I. D checked. It’s too late to ask you to elaborate on it but Sukuan doesn’t forget it.
Once Megumi comes back with the first round of drinks you almost feel like you were never nervous, to begin with. Everything settles into normal. The only difference is that you are setting tucked into Sukuna’s side with his arm around your shoulders. You want to enjoy this but there is just this thing in the back of your mind that you can’t hide tiny that makes you feel uneasy. It bothers you.
After drinks, the three go off to the dance floor while you and Sukuan sat behind to watch them. You would usually go with the three, but Sukuna’s firm arm keeps you in place.
With the trio gone leaving the quiet booth to yourselves so he can finally ask you, “So nervous?”
You slump a little and take to sliding your index finger around the rim of your empty glass. “I should just stop holding out hope you’d forget this kind of stuff huh?”
“It’d be a lot easier if ya would. And to stop to avoid talking about it too. We know what happen last time. Don’t get me wrong the head was great, but I’d rather have you suck me off without all the drama.”
“How do you just do that? Say naughty stuff like that?”
 “Don’t change the subject.”
“I don’t know why I’m nervous,” You admit quickly like it was a shameful thing that you don’t know how your own mind works.
Sukuna glances from you to the trio of idiots currently jumping around on the dance floor and screeching out the lyrics to the song blaring on the speaker. He was stalling for time. Making sure that what he said next wouldn't be too vague. You were the only one trying to change after last night,
“I think you think too hard about stuff.”
“Was that supposed to be reassuring?”
“Yes? I hoped it would at least. Do you have any idea of what's making you nervous?”
“That’s the thing. I can’t. I don’t want to be anywhere else but here with everyone. Like I’m excited and happy to be celebrating and to leave with you to have some awesome sex. But I’m still just nervous. And I can’t figure out why.”
“Have you ever felt nervous like this before?”
“I don’t think so. But I am all honestly…. but in all honestly these nudes feel kind of new to me,”
And there it was. Sukuna bites the inside of his cheek bit doesn’t work. He still laughs. It’s cute and funny and he just can’t help it. The glare you look at him with is even funnier because you really can’t see it.
“Y/n do you think you are nervous because this is new to you?”
“What do you mean? I’ve been out to a bar,” you point an accusing finger at him, “With you before.”
“Yes, you have. But we’re together now. You don’t have to shoot me dirty looks because you're the one who gets to take me home. Because we’re out at a bar as a couple. “
 “I was never jealous.”
“Never said you were a doll.”
 “I hate you.”
 “Haven’t you always?”
You only stick your tongue in reply. Sukuna presses the back of his thump into the underside of your jaw making you crane your neck so he can lean down for a kiss.
When he pulls away, he warns in a tone that almost makes you think he’s daring you instead, “Now, now, don’t be a brat tonight, I wanna so easy on you tonight.”
“Is it really that simple?” you ask in disbelief.
A coy chuckle makes your stomach flip, “Let’s not find out yea?”
You let out a small huff leaning your head on his shoulder. “No dumbass that that’s the way it is. Am I really nervous because this is just something new to me?”
 “I dunno, you tell me.”
“…. I’ve never done this before.”
“What did I say about using your words doll?”
You huff,” I am. I’m trying. I’ve never been out with someone like this. My dates have been pretty vanilla. Like nice dinner and a movie ya know. Like I said: surface level. They didn’t me feel like this. All giddy and stuff. “
“That sounds kind of sad. But also, is more proof to my theory that I am the only man to have ever made you cum.
“You don’t have to remind me,” you tell him. “I just don’t know what we’re supposed to do ok. God, I sound so freaking clueless right now.”
“What do you want to do?” Sukuna’s serious tone catches you off guard
You to sit straight so you can look at him. “What do you mean?”
“You’re here tonight to celebrate another semester and I’m not here to put a damper on that.”
“But there's got to me like boundaries something?”
“Wow, doll what naughty things are you thinking about.”
You feel your face flush with heat. You weren’t thinking of anything of the sort. You just couldn’t get acclimated to the idea of that much freedom. You had grown up around rules and structures that extend to all parts of your life, including dating. To suddenly not have nothing to dictate how you behave and tell when what to do- well it was scary, but it also made you feel drunk and giddy with the power.
“Whatever I want?” you ask, mind getting lost in the sea of possibilities now before you.
Sukuna swallows at the sudden change in your voice. At times like this, he wonders if you are aware of how seductive you can be. Your lips are parted slightly and look so inviting. Your eyes are full of so much desire and Sukuan wants to give it all to you. Whatever you want. Whatever you desire.
“Yes, “he answers trying to sound somewhat like he’s not getting lost himself, “I’m not here to tell you what you can and can’t do y/n,”
“Oh?” fuck that coy smile goes straight to his heart. Your eyes cut back to the dance floor. Absent of the trio who went off to get another round of drinks.
When you return your attention back to Sukuna, he can tell you challenge him. Testing these new waters. “What if I wanted to take someone home with us?”
Fuck, you were so God damn perfect.
“Oh, you want a toy to play with?” he refuses to look away from you. He probably couldn’t even if he tried to excite to be hearing this side of you. “Why even wait? You could have any one of these people following you into the bathroom like a lost puppy. We could have them between us within the hour doll. Or would you rather me watch as you make them come under your touch? Or are you the type to like an audience while I fuck you?”
You open your mouth to say something but quickly close it and grow beat red. You’re the first to break and it causes a smug sense of satisfaction to swell in Sukuna’s chest.
“Ok, yea. It’s going to take some work to get used to that. Don’t think my confidence is quite there yet. Seriously how do you do it?”
“A threesome not your thing?”, he teases.
But then you look back out the dance floor and bit your lip. It makes Sukuan get the sense that he’s watching the beginnings of a monster being made.
 “Another conversation for another day.”
“Are you blushing,” Yuji asks coming back to the table followed by Megumi and Nobara.
You cup your cheeks. They were warm but Yuji shakes his head and points a finger at his brother. “I mean you.”
“No.” Sukuna answerers with that a pointed glare that told his brother to shut up. But you can see now too.
 “I made you blush!”
“Don’t let it go to your head doll.”
 “Too late”
After another round of drinks, you want to join the dancing this time. Sukuna lets you pull him to the dance floor with everyone else and with the thumbing base so loud you must pull Sukuna down so your lips are pressed into his ear.
“I can’t wait to go home with you tonight!”
Sukuna's chest thrums as a large smile plasters itself across his face. You can’t hear what he says but the way he pulls your hips into his and smothers his face into your neck tells you he is very happy to hear that.

Washington, DC
I can tell I’m growing as an artist.
I’ve been trying to get better lately about showing off works-in-progress, but I’m still not very comfortable with the idea of it.
Someone who follows me recently saw Cloud God for the first time, and they told me they thought I should start a series. On impulse, I said, “Funny you should say that…” and showed them this progress photo of the second painting in the series, something I’ve been working on for a little over a month now. Normally I wouldn’t do this; there’s always been a big part of me that doesn’t want people to see something I’m working on “before it’s finished” (in the immortal words of Julia Fox). There’s something about sharing the process of creating that feels very vulnerable—very personal to me—like I’m putting my own imperfections on display for everyone to see. (Dramatic, I know!)
When I have free time (in between commissions) it’s nice to focus on personal work. Cloud God is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever done, and I haven’t been able to get His world out of my head since His completion. I haven’t been able to shake the feeling that there need to be more of Him. But I can be so impatient as an artist—so destination-focused—that I forget about the journey. I always want to fast-forward through the endless hours of planning, painting, polishing work, and skip straight to the part when I can rest on my laurels and admire what I’ve done (and let’s be real; I love to show off to all my friends!).
Anyone who’s ever drawn something at school can relate to the mortifying ordeal of having a classmate or teacher watch over your shoulder as you sketch, asking questions, making judgments, offering suggestions. That experience taught me to play close to my chest, to protect my precious art-babies from the scrutiny of the outside world, at least until they’re “ready.” But not everything is a game of cards. I have nothing to gain from hiding my moves. Nothing to lose from making them out in the open. You can only grow out in the open.
Thank you for the kind words on the painting yesterday, and thank you all for watching over my shoulder, helping me be more okay with the process.

Inescapable, I'm not even gonna try and if I get burned, at least we were electrified. I'm spilling wine in the bathtub, you kiss my face and we're both drunk. Everyone thinks that they know us, but they know nothing about all of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation, my hands are shaking from holding back from you ...
The rain fell harshly and unkindly on the pavement for the fifth day in a row, the sun having forsaken the forgotten hellish town that was Knockemstiff, Ohio. Few could say the name and ever fewer dared to enter the town. Even God’s afraid of it, his mother would tell him after nursing what felt like another one of her endless bottles of liquor. It was a haunted town, not a lot left and those who did never crossed paths with it again. Murder and crime were all time highs but not even the government dared to come in and try to to anything which meant any police force in the town were like gods, deciding who lived and who didn’t. One of those god-like men was Lee Bodecker, however he preferred you called him Sheriff Lee Bodecker.  He was a chubby man in his early thirties, tall but the beer belly made him hunch making him look shorter than he was. He had once been the envy of the town, one of the most handsome men of the town but years of living in Knockemstiff wear down everyone. His own poison had been alcohol which had ended up with him in therapy with his wife and with a therapist who had told him to curb the craving of alcohol with sweets instead. It had little to nothing as he still drank like his life depended on it and tonight was no different from other nights. He took off his hat as he entered the local bar in town, the only bar in town, and everyone looked his way, silence installing the ever noisy bar. He liked it, Lee liked it. He knew he was not the handsome one, in fact his look made him quite funny so he made himself scary. Lee made sure that everyone who looked his way, heard his voice or saw his shadow was afraid of him. It definitely worked as once he sat on the bar stool, there was already a glass with 5 fingers of his favourite drink.
Everything was silence except for the mumbling of men discussing their days until suddenly the mumbling was no longer about the hell that was living in Knockemstiff. He turned around in his chair and understood why the men were suddenly so interested. There she was, dressed in a high neck black shirt which stood over a white skirt. Matching go go boots left her legs bare, something women in Knockemstiff did not do, still stuck in decades of last. She wasn’t from around and everyone knew it merely by the way she dressed but Sheriff Bodecker knew different. Men watched like dogs as she made her way to the bar, to his side.
     - Y/N. - he greeted her. - What are you doing here? Trying to disrupt the town?
     - My grandmother died.
     - I heard. My condolences.
     - She left me all of what was hers including the house so I’m here to sell it.
     - The one in Brewer Heights? - she nodded. - Tis a nice house, but I don’t think anyone here would have enough to buy it.
     - I’ll decide that. - she held the glass the bartender in between her hands, her eyes roaming over to his hands were his wedding ring had started to become tight around his finger. - Still with Jane?
     - Why wouldn’t I be? - he cocked an eyebrow at her. - What are you doing here, Y/N?
    - I told you, I’m here to sell ...
    - No. - he interrupted. - Why are you here, at the bar? What do you want?
    - Nothing ...  I see you’re not in the mood to help me anyways. - she got up from the stool she had sat on, straightening her skirt as her feet hit the floor. - Good evening, Sheriff Bodecker.
He was sat, watching her leave but also giving an aura to the men who too watched the modern girl exit the building not to get any ideas. Lee knew these men, they were like dogs and once a suitable amount of time passed, he took to returning to his cruiser and follow her. How could he trust this town with her, an outsider? Y/N had been brought up in Knockemstiff, the daughter of store owners who had both been killed in an assault gone wrong. After that, she was ushered to live with her grandmother, the last of socialites in Knockemstiff. Rumours said her grandmother had moved from New York to wed with a penniless man already expecting once she wore her wedding gown. Rumours or not, she still held much more money than anyone in the town together and she wasted not a cent in her granddaughter’s education, moving to a more upscale house in Brewer Heights once she got her under her care. She was always the one with everything and Lee remembered seeing her while still an officer driving around a brand new glossy red car, hair loose through the wind. In all honesty, he thought her never too leave town but as she reached her tender 21st year of life, she left leaving everything behind.
He parked outside her grandmother’s home, stopping just a bit away from it looking at the house that was so eerily sketched in his mind. He leaned against his seat watching Brewer Heights, the place he so wanted to have lived in his youth. Of course he now owned a place there too but it was faint, fickle. If he were to not be sheriff anymore all would shatter. He would do everything he could to keep his position. He deserved it, he deserved it more than any damned soul on this planet. A knock on the glass removed him from his mind state as he looked the way of his window to see her.
     - Can I come in? - she asked, eyes lingering on the passenger seat. He stretched over to the side, opening the door for her but not exiting the car. She entered, closing the door as she sat on the seat. - I’ve always hated when you were mad at me.
     - I’m not mad.
     - You have no reason to be. I know what you’re mad about and it’s your own fault, you know that.
     - Is it my fault you left? - his hands tightened against the wheel of his cruiser, anger coursing through his veins. Lee never liked to hear the truth.
    - She knew, Lee and she was right ... If anyone knew, if the town knew I would’ve been ruined and I didn’t deserve that. You must understand I didn’t deserve that.
    - I didn’t deserve you leaving without saying a fucking thing now did I, darl’?
    - You were married. - she almost spat the words in his face. - You are married, Lee. Now you can be mad at me all you want, you can hate me for all I give a damn but I was not gonna destroy myself for your happiness, and I will certainly not allow you to destroy yourself for lust.
    - Y/N ...
    - I don’t need your help anymore and I would enjoy it if you parked your cruiser away from my house. I wouldn’t want any rumours about your infidelities to resurface. - she exited the car and climbed the small incline of grass up to her home. Lee still remembered seeing her in a little white dresses her grandmother would buy for her, climbing that incline while holding the fabric so it wouldn’t fly up. She seemed to have gotten the hang of it.
Lee had met Y/N when she volunteered at the station back when he was still a patrol officer. She did the duties of every single secretary plus cleaning which was what she had volunteered for. It’ll be good for my university application, she told him when Lee asked what she was doing there. She started at 17 and remained there until she was 18 and ready to leave and become something other than a Knockemstiff resident. However, her mother having sudden heart attack ruined her plans and she decided to stay to take care of her. Lee didn’t see her for two whole years until she was 20 years old and he spotted her at the supermarket getting an earful from Mr. Collins about dropping a bottle of olive oil while trying to reach something from the higher shelf. Lee didn’t like it, he didn’t like Mr. Collins berating her for a simple mistake so he stepped in. He remembered her thanking him before reintroducing herself to him.
He wasn’t one to be swayed by women, he’d married his Jane when he was fresh out of high school and while his relationship was more than stale, he had his mind on work and alcohol. Sure he could’ve divorced, found someone else but he wasn’t the teenager he used to be anymore, he was hardly someone who women would be attracted to besides a single man for a Sheriff? That surely wasn’t gonna happen. Yet, he couldn’t help but be entranced by her, fresh into adulthood with a mind full of ideas about what she wanted to do. He didn’t mean it, he didn’t mean to start a relationship with her, to start an affair yet he couldn’t say he regret it. He didn’t regret the nights where she’d meet him in the woods, covered by a black trench coat. He could still feel his, his hands against her back, feeling the fabric of her undergarments as the windows fogged.
Y/N was upset. Her friends had told her she better not expect the man who she had left without any notice to help her but she was upset. What choice did she have? After her grandmother heard about it, it would’ve taken no time for everyone in town to hear about it and she would’ve been a disgrace and Lee would’ve certain not become Sheriff. Nevertheless she was upset. Instead, she asked an old friend from school, Billy. It was no surprise he was here, nobody left, nobody ever left. She had left but yet here she was once again, 4 years later wondering about an affair which shouldn’t have happened. Her grandmother had berated her for ages “you don’t sleep with a married man” and of course she knew she shouldn’t yet she had. She didn’t know better.
She had boxes and boxes packed with whatever it was left of the house, photo books, clothing, bedding, all of it packed. Once she got to New York she could sort through it but right now all she wanted to was leave. Her friends even offered to come over and do it for her but the damned lawyer said it had to be her. In the morning she waited for Billy in the steps of her home, dressed in one of her old 50′s fashioned white dress, a far cry from the mini skirts she used at home and off he came in the exact same car he had when they were both teens.
   - Y/N, look at you. - he walked off the car. - You look gorgeous, darl’.
   - Thank you, Billy. - she scratched the back of her head. - Uhm it’s only 5 big boxes. I’ll pay for the gas if you help me take them to post office.
   - You’re not keeping the house?
   - And live in Knockemstiff? - she rolled her eyes, climbing up the stairs to grab the boxes from the front of the door. The boy helped her pack the car before the two hopped onto the car. - So, how’s the town been?
   - Nothing changes. Mr. Collins died, no one was upset about it and that Bodecker guy became Sheriff. - he light up a cigarette as he turned on the engine. - It’s still as boring as its been and people mostly gossip around the same old gossip.
   - What’s new in gossip?
   - Eleanor still says you and Bodecker were fucking. - he chuckled. - As if ... I mean, look at you, you were prom queen and he’s a fat bastard.
    - You should watch your mouth, Billy. He’s the sheriff.
    - Because he bought it. - he shrugged. - Dad says he’s pretty much doing everyone’s dirty work. I mean his sister and her husband disappeared and were found dead.
    -  I don’t really care for that type of gossip. - she leaned against the seat, watching the trees pass by. It wasn’t that she and Billy were good friends but she needed help and she’d rather die than go beg Lee to help her out. She had tried and it’d failed. Besides what was the worse that could happen?
The worse that could happen became very clear as instead of driving into town he took a left into the woods. She rose her head from the seat as all the ways one could reach town rushed through her mind. This definitely wasn’t one of them, it was hard to even get to the town through the woods. She knew that because, well ... it was where she would meet Lee to ensure no one from town found them. The car came to a stop and Billy got off the car. Maybe he just needed to pee or to get some air. She waited til he was on his back to open the car door and start running but he rushed after her, grabbing her arm and throwing her to the ground before standing over her, hands holding her wrists above her head.
   - Billy, what are you doing? - stay calm, that was what they always taught her, stay calm.
   - Come on, Y/N. They always wanted us to be together in high school, remember?
   - I don’t know what you’re talking about. Billy, calm down.
   - You fucking calm down. I know you want me too, Y/N. You called me, you need my help, darl’. I can make you feel so damn good ... - his mouth lowered down and she started to trash around, trying to get rid of him.
   - Stop, please stop. - she looked up at the sky, the morning sun barely up as she recalled why you don’t come back to Knockemstiff. You don’t get back because you get stuck. As she convinced herself there was nothing the do, a short was heard through the air.
  - What the heck are you doing William? - she recognised the voice. She had never been more grateful for that voice. Billy jumped over to his feet.
   - Sheriff ... me and Y/N were just having a bit of fun ... You know, you understand, right?
   - Y/N ... - he looked her way. - What were you doing?
   - It was against my will, Sheriff. - she climbed onto her feet, leaning against a tree at a healthy distance from him.
  - Get the fuck out of here. - the young boy in his mid 20′s rushed out like a child afraid of the dark, forgetting his car and everything he had left behind. Y/N watched him running, tripping onto his legs as Lee fired a warning shot in the air. If this was NY, there would be someone here already but this was Knockemstiff and gun shots were as usual as rain during winter.
He smirked, happy to have once again imposed the authority he so much treasured. Lee never liked Billy, he never liked when he’d drive Y/N home from school even when she was volunteering at the police station. That boy was no good news and always looked at her like she was a piece of meat. Lee still remembered the old Sheriff telling her that boy was no good and looking at her now, dressed in one of her white dresses stained in dirty and green grass stains, he guessed he was right.
  - Billy, Y/N? Don’t you have other friends?
  - Billy’s the only one with a car. - Y/N mumbled as she grabbed his keys from the floor to take her stuff off his car before he could return. - Thank you but I had it under control.
  - ‘Course you did. - he put his hands on his waist. - Come on, I’ll drive you to wherever you want to go.
  - I don’t want any favours from you, Sheriff Bodecker. - she held her boxes against her chest. Well, if she started now maybe she could be at the post office with all the boxes at nighttime. - That’ll be all.
  - Y/N, come on. I’m a public server so let me help you.
  - I don’t want your help. - she almost barked at him, taking another box from Billy’s car. Maybe she could drive the car, yet again she knew the captain particularly liked Billy and could fine her if
  - Fine, can you tell me what you’re doing at least?
  - I’m shipping these boxes to New York. I don’t have time to completely go through them so ...
  - Put them in the cruiser. I’ll take them to the post office and take you home.
  - I don’t want any favours.
  - It’s not for you, it’s for your grandmother. Now get into the car, please. - he opened the door to her.
Y/N huffed. The last thing she needed was a favour from Lee Bodecker yet in all honesty she had no other choice. She packed her boxes into the truck of his cruiser and sat on the passenger seat, arms crossed as he sat in the driver’s seat. Her mind played tricks on her, reminding her of what they used to do in that driver’s seat of his back when she was younger and full of ideas for the future. She shouldn’t have done it and she knew it, Jane Bodecker wasn’t the best woman but she didn’t deserve having her husband sneaking around with a 20 year old despite her herself having had her fair share of affairs. Not that Lee knew and she wasn’t gonna be the one to tell him about the time she was working late in the station and saw his wife getting busy with a new patrol. She didn’t have that right, after all he was doing the same to her. She shouldn’t have done it, nevertheless. Her grandmother died ashamed of her and now she had to deal with it.
   - Billy said Sandy died. Is it true?
   - Yeah, last year.
   - Oh ... I’m sorry, I didn’t know.
   - She had it coming. That weird husband of hers ended up driving her off the edge. That Arvin kid shot them yet I can’t say they hadn’t it coming ... She was still my baby sister.
   - I’m sorry, Lee. I’m so sorry ...  - she looked down at her skirt.
   - Almost got me too ... stupid kid. - he shrugged. - Good thing I was fat enough to stop the bullet, I guess.
   - Well, I’m sorry about Sandy. - she said as she saw her house become clearer through the window. He stopped in front of her home, unlocking the doors so she could walk out.
Y/N walked out before she could do something stupid. Whatever she did, whatever he had, whenever they were together she always ended up doing something stupid. She sat in the empty house of her childhood, only now containing furniture. She could remember it so well from her years as a child running up and down the stairs, not knowing what awaited her outside the world. Nevertheless, she didn’t want to owe anything to Lee. She knew who he had to answer softly too, she knew those men Billy spoke about. They always ran for Sheriff ever since she was a kid.
She looked at the clock on the wall, 3PM. She knew exactly where those men would be at that time and so she changed and took her way downtown. Everyone turned their head as she walked into the badly light, old bar in tones of musky green which greatly contrasted with her baby blue short dress. The town had gotten stuck in the 40′s and 50′s, women barely showing their legs or any skin and there she was, a woman born and raised in Knockemstiff dressed like a movie star. The table of three men clearly noticed, the under-sheriff, the division chief and the captain. She stood in front of the round table, taking her sunglasses and setting them on top of her head, a nice, covergirl smile on her pink painted lips. You can get the girl out of Knockemstiff but you can’t get Knockemstiff out of the girl.
    - Hello boys. You mind if I seat with you? - she put her hand on one of the chairs.
    - Hey, you’re Elizabeth’s granddaughter aren’t you? - Frank, the under-sheriff asked, pulling the chair for her. - I thought you were in New York.
    - I was but I just came here because of my grandma’s inheritance, but I have something to discuss.
Another night, another day of useless parading around for Lee. He’d pass by the post office and shipped Y/N’s boxes and that had been the highlight of his day. As per usual, he made his way to the bar only to found the environment was slightly different. He knew this town like the back of his hand, anything off always rang alarm bells. As the bartender placed his usual poison in front of him, he decided to get to the bottom of the situation.
   - Why’s everything so quiet?
   - I don’t know, Sheriff. - the man replied while cleaning glasses. - Elizabeth’s girl was here and I don’t know what she did but Frank, Jonah and Fitzwilliam left as if she were the devil.
Fucking hell. He drowned the last of his drink before grabbing his hat and entering his cruise. Damned Y/N, she used to be such a nice girl before leaving to New York. God, the only complaint he ever got about her was when the mayor complained about her wanting to run a march. He drove to her home like a mad man. What was she doing messing around with those three? He’d seen them do worse things for much less. Lee climbed the grass patch up to her door, knocking on it as if his life depended on it.
   - Y/N, open up. Right now. - he thumped the door again. - I’ll break in if you don’t answer it!
   - Jesus. - the door opened up to Y/N dressed in what he was almost entirely sure was the shortest dress he had ever seen a woman wear. She stood against the door, hand on the wood while the other on her waist as he entered her home.
   - Took you long enough. - he stepped into the home which he had never dared to step in.
   - I was upstairs. - she closed the door, locking it behind her for good safety. No one can be trusted in this godforsaken town. - What do you want?
Lee walked further into the house ignoring her question as he shut all the windows of the ground floor, anything that could allow anyone to look inside the house. Last thing he needed was for anyone to see inside the home and start any rumours. Stupid bastards. Y/N followed him around asking the same damn question anytime he shut any window and pulled any drapes down.
   - Stop touching my stuff. - she put herself in front of him. - What do you want, Lee?
   - What do I want? - he sat against the couch, sighing. - What the fuck did you do, Y/N? Why were you at the bar?
   - I didn’t do anything. - she batted her eyes innocently.
   - Y/N, I have another election coming up soon. I’ll ask again, what did you do at the bar?
   - It’s none of your business.
   - Y/N, I’ve seen those men kill for less so you tell me now what you did.
   - Stop ordering me around. - she rolled her eyes at him. - I don’t like owing anyone so now we’re even.
   - We’re even? - he pitched the skin of his nose. - What the fuck, Y/N?
   - You wanna know what I said? Would that make you feel better? Would that make you feel like you rule this damn town, Lee? - she looked down on him, almost teasing him. Had it been a few years ago she would’ve been under him already. - I helped you out.
   - Y/N ...
   - It’s not just you who was sleeping around with a younger girl. They were sleeping around with friends of mine. The only difference is I have evidence of it ... - she grabbed her purse from the hanger, taking a beige envelope from it and throwing it his way. Lee looked up to her and then to the envelope opening it to see various pictures of girls he knew in compromising positions with his opponents, letters, everything. - They don’t have anything on you because unlike my friends, I don’t keep souvenirs from my affairs.
  - You blackmailed them? Are you stupid, Y/N? They are going to kill you.
  - Please. - she rolled her eyes at him. - My grandmother owned half this town, if I die everything goes to charity and this town falls apart. Besides, it’s not like I’m planning to stick around for longer.
  - So what now? You had fun playing femme fatale? You’re bored, is that it?
  - I just won you an election without any competition, Lee. You could be nicer about it.
  - I don’t need your help.
  - I don’t need your help either. I was just repaying a favour. - she leaned against the wall. - You can go now.
   - Did you need to wear that? - he pointed at the dress. - Couldn’t have struck blackmail dressed appropriately?
   - Do you not like my dress? - she looked down, hands grabbing the baby blue fabric as she expanded the flowey skirt. - You know, I bought it for you. I was planning on using it for birthday a few years ago but you know ... had to leave earlier.
   - You bought that dress for me? - he rose from the couch, walking up to her until he had her caged against the wall.
   - I bought it so you could take it off, actually. - Lee must’ve been hallucinating because he swore she was pouting.
She looked up at him with that look she used to give him after a long day at work when he needed something to unwind. Both of them had promised each other not to do anything else when she left, Y/N had told herself no more coming bak and Lee had decided to spend his life content what whatever shred of marriage he had. Yet, she was there in what looked more like lingerie than a dress and he was in uniform, both of them were never good at making good decisions, and this was Knockemstiff. Lee took the first move, leaning down to kiss her like his body dependent on it which in some way he did. She held onto his shoulder, flushing her body against his as his hands started trying to pull the dress away from her body. Baby blue fabric flowed to the ground as he picked her up, throwing her against the couch he had just been sat on. He stopped kissing her to look at her, to look at the body he still dreamed at night or whenever he shut his eyes. She could’ve been gone for 4 years but she sure never left his wildest fantasies.
  - Lee, wait. - her hands stopped him from returning to kiss her. - Let me treat you, please.
  - Oh sugar, you don’t need to ask. - she got up, walking slowly past him, her matching baby blue undergarments much more racy than what she used to wear back in Knockemstiff. She pushed him against the couch, smirking as she went down on her knees. - What are you doing down there, sugar? It’s more than you can handle.
  - Don’t worry, Sheriff. I’m a big girl. - her hands unbuckled the belt off his trousers, throwing it to the floor followed by his trousers. She peppered kisses over his thighs down to his knees and then to the edge of his underwear. Slowly, she peeled them away, making eye contact with him. The silent girl he had known before was definitely long gone and he didn’t know how to feel about it. Before he could make up his mind, she took him entirely inside inside her mouth. - Fuck, you look fucking flawless with my big cock in your mouth, sugar.
She smiled at his praise, moving her head up and down still at a painfully slow pace, his balls in her hands. Lee pushed his head back, groaning at her motions and thinking it could no get better until she started to move her head faster, his tip reaching the back of her throat, but it didn’t seem to bother her. Instead she moaned against him, the vibrations making him feel like he was on cloud 9. Fuck being sheriff, nothing made him quite higher than having the one who got away with his cock down her throat. He started twitching against her mouth, his hand grabbed a handful of her hair, pushing her against his pelvis and starting to control her moves. She kept moaning against him, bringing him over the edge until he just couldn’t hold himself anymore. His grip loosened on her head as his muscles gave up on him.
Y/N got up from her kneeling position, thumb pushing whatever cum had spilled over into her mouth. That image alone made him harden up again like some horny teenage boy. She smiled at him, hands on his shoulders as she sat on his lap.
   - What do you want me to do, Sheriff? - she batted her eyes at him, leaning down to kiss his ear lobe lowering down to his neck.
  - You wanna ride my cock, sugar? - he hooked his hand on her nape, pushing her so she was looking at him. - You wanna make up to me for leaving me all alone?
  - Yes, Sheriff. - she lined up and slowly sunk down on him, both of them moaning.
   - Come on, sugar. Show me what you can do. - she started riding him as if the devil had possessed her. He pushed her lips against his, a sloppy messy kiss which definitely was more lust than anything else as she moved up and down against him.  - Yeah, you like that don’t you, sugar? Tell me you like it, sugar.
  - It feels so good, Lee. - she leaned against him, her hips still moving as he pulled her bra down, pinching her nipple. - Fuck.
  - You’re never gonna leave me again. - he started thrusting up, moving her from under him so she was laid across the couch. - Promis ... fuck ... promise me, sugar. Promise, you’re not gonna leave.
  - Lee ... - she moaned against the couch’s pillow as he speed up his pace, hands holding her hips and moving them against and away from him.
  - You’re not gonna leave. - he groaned, feeling the way her walls milked him with such need. - You’re not gonna leave me, sugar. You’re not, right? You’re gonna stay.
   - Lee ... - she cried out before her mouth opened up in a perfect O, her orgasm washing over her. He didn’t take too long to cum, groaning like a wild animal as strings of white painted her walls. He slipped out of her, holding her before turning so she was standing on top of him. - Lee, I can’t stay. You know that, right?
   - Why not? Things were good when you were around.
   - I left for a reason, Lee. - she got up from him, grabbing her dress and quickly slipping it on. - And that reason still stands.
   - Y/N, please listen ...
   - When I was 20 and we started this, I truly believed you were going to divorce your wife. You were going to divorce her and you were gonna marry me and ... and my grandma would’ve been upset but she would’ve learned to deal with it and then she would’ve taken me to the altar. I waited a year to see if I would ever become something other than a mistress and then the elections came around and I understood you were not gonna divorce Jane. You were going to be Sheriff and you’re still going to be Sheriff and maybe sometime Mayor. I’m not gonna be your mistress anymore, Lee.
  - Y/N ...
  - Please, leave. - she wiped whatever tears were threatening to fall off. Lee furrowed his brow, putting on his trousers before trying to approach her but she stopped him, arm raised firmly keeping distance. - Please, leave.
  - Y/N, c’mon. Let’s talk.
  - LEAVE! - she rose her tone at him. Lee wasn’t going to argue with her, it wasn’t his place to argue with her at her own house and so he left. Y/N stayed in the middle of her leaving room, arms crossed until she broke down crying.
She could almost hear her grandmother’s words “there’s no use crying about it” when she told her Lee was running for Sheriff. Funny how even after being dead, the old nag still was as right as she was four years ago. She wiped her tears with her hand and climbed the stairs up to her bedroom, sitting on the bare bed. It was going to be alright, tomorrow she’d be able to sign the rights over to the letting agency and could return to New York. Things were fine there, or at least she wasn’t sleeping with a married man there.
The sun didn’t raise up that morning, rain instead replaced it and so Y/N remained laid in bed watching the rain drop rush down the fogged up windows until a loud thumping on her door forced her to get up. She wrapped herself in her robe and went down the stairs to open the door.
  - Good morning, miss. - she opened the door to her letting agent. - How are you?
  - I’m alright, Don. I’m sorry, I thought the open house was later. I’ll just get my stuff and leave.
  - No, it’s all right miss. I am just here to tell you that we’ve sold the house was above the price you were asking for.
  - Pardon me?
  - At least two times the asking price. It was such a good price, he had to take it. Paid upfront.
  - What really? Who?
  - He should be coming to see the place in an hour. - he said. - We’ll bring you the check later on.
  - All right. Thank you Don.
That was good news at least she got to leave Knockemstiff before anything else happened. She didn’t know what had overcome her to decide to have sex with Lee. Pull yourself together Y/N, you’ve had four years to learn how to deal with it. It was fine, it was going to be fine. She packed whatever was left of her stuff into her small patched up luggage and put it by the door. She just needed to wait for Don to bring her check back and she could go on back to New York, where her mistakes only included putting coloured clothes with whites and then having pink clothes for the rest of her life. A knock on the door made that decision come much faster. Okay, Y/N. Get the check and go.
  - Lee? - she opened the door to see the least person she wanted to see. - Go away, I’m expecting someone.
  - I know. - he walked in as if the house was his. - You’re expecting me.
  - This is not funny, Lee. Don should be bringing my check anytime and the owner will be here in an hour.
  - Yeah, I’m sorry I’m early.
  - Pardon? - she rose her eyebrows at his statement. - What do you mean?
  - It’s my house now. I was thinking of upgrading, ya know? This house is the best one in Brewer Heights after all.
  - Are you fucking kidding me, Lee?! - she stood in front of him before he could walk further into her home. - You’re bringing your wife into my childhood home? YOU’RE BRINGING YOUR WIFE TO YOUR MISTRESS’S HOME?!
  - How many bedrooms is this house? They said they thought it was over five in the contract.
  - You have a perfectly good house. Why do you want mine?
  - Mine is too small. Only one bedroom, I’d have no place to build a nursery.
  - A nursery? You and your wife are having a baby? In my childhood home ... how swell.
  - You know I’m thinking about running for mayor. I mean, it’d look good if I had a family.
  - Good luck convincing Jane. - she gave him a cynical smile.
  - I don’t have to convince Jane. I’d have to convince you.
  - Me? Fuck off, Lee. I’m not having a baby for you and your wife. Fuck off.
  - We’re a good team, Y/N. Besides, Jane is no longer in the picture.
  - Lee ... - she sighed. - Please.
  - You see, my wife isn’t as good as me at keeping her infidelities casual. The other candidates have caught wind of it ... I need someone who’s almost as good at blackmail as me.
  - I’m better at blackmail than you. - she crossed her arms at him.
  - So what do you say, sugar? Want to be the sheriff’s wife?
  - Do you promise I’ll get to be the mayor’s wife someday?
  - With you on my team, I think you’re gonna be the mayor’s wife sooner than you think.

Reveal Your Watch and Rewatch List
tagged by @talays-portkey (i don't tell you enough i LOVE UUUU) ♥♥ my last post was in april, so this is an update
watching
ms marvel (eng, s1) —  i have one more ep to catch up on and then the finale this wed. this show is so light and charming, vastly due to iman vellani’s portrayal as kamala khan. the production is super impressive and the drawings/sketches are contained very well. it doesn’t shy away from the cliche (affectionate) turmoils of superhero origin story, but it never feels cliche (derogatory). my experience with marvel boils down to one goal: me having a great time. and i’m having a blast!
with kinnporsche completed last sat, i don’t have a bl/drama in progress.
planning to watch
what we do in the shadows (eng, s4) — this is probably the only show in the last several years, besides doctor who, that i watch live on cable on the days they air (in this house, we dvr if we need to miss some eps rather than streaming it). what else is there to say other than i miss my deranged vampire family and their vampire hunter husband.
vice versa (thai, premiering) — so ready to be unhinged and feral about this, i can’t believe its almost here!!!! i still haven’t watched the mv and the bts, but will hopefully get around to it before it airs this sat. did i mention it airs this saturday? if anyone outside of the bl world actually wants to know what its about, just imagine a reality where those who experience (accidental??) death are revived in another body in an alternate universe. their conscious is still their own but the physical body could be any random person of that world. and the only way back to your world comes with layers of emotional connections for both your world and the present AU world. she’s bonkers, she’s complicated, i’m watching her live as well.
old fashion cupcake (jpn, s1) — this is a last min add, replacing mr unlucky. this came thru my dash unexpectedly and peaked my interest immediately. i am going into this cold turkey, relying on the very little info i have gathered through gifs. from what i can tell thus far, it’s a 5-ep bl that deals with an age gap and first experience in same-sex attraction. the biggest draw for me is the aging of the characters/story. it’s refreshing to witness a love story beyond people in their 20’s. i want more!!
i still keep up with this watchlist, feel free to take a look at what's beyond july
rewatching
sense8 — i do this almost every year, or at least jump around between my fav eps/scenes when 8/8 comes around. this year, i am making an effort to get another edit or two out of it. i’ve made a birthday edit before, so i am still brainstorming ideas (maybe a character set for each child?)
this is the only sched rewatch on my calendar. i stated in my last post that i don’t make it a habit to rewatch shows in full, even moreso with my watch sched.

Marinette and the Runaway Assassin
~
Marinette Grason and the Runaway Assassin
The first thing they could remember was always flying.
Their parents always told them that the first thing a Grayson ever did was fly.
Whether it be him tossing his sister in the air as she did flips, or flying on the low swing trapeze with his mother and father. they were born soaring.
Their family was the best of the best. Humans with the agility and grace of birds. Their family never stayed on the ground for long. Nothing could keep a Grayson on the ground.
Until they fell.
Their wonderful parents never flew again.
~
Dick was trying his best to keep it together, for his sister, but the pain was almost too much. He was just 16. What was he supposed to do now? He wasn’t of age to care for Marinette and he certainly didn't have much money at all.
It was two days after the fall that killed their parents. Dick had cried himself to sleep, so full of grief, stress and uncertainty the night before. He wanted, no, needed to keep his sister safe, but what were they supposed to do? Live on the street? Marinette deserved better than that. Not to mention her schooling. There was just so many things he needed to think about he had no idea if they’d ever even survive -
A knock sounded at the door, startling Dick from his thoughts.
“Excuse me,” a deep voice came from behind the door, “I would like to speak to a mister Dick Grayson.” With those words the pit inside his stomach grew. It was probably some social worker coming to separate him from the only family he had left.
Dick opened the door and saw a large man with dark hair and blue eyes in a suit, “If you’re here to take me and my sister to some orphanage, leave now. It’s not going to happen. Get lost.” Dick, the normally polite boy, ended his statement by quickly closing the door.
“Wait!” The man jumped in, using his foot to jam the door. “I’m not a social worker. Mister Grayson I presume?” Dick just narrowed his eyes and nodded his head, “My name is Bruce Wayne. I was hoping to come to an arrangement that would greatly help you and your sister.
Dick had the urge to scoff, but he let the man, Bruce, continue.
“You see, I lost my parents at a young age as well. I want to make you and Miss Marinette my wards. You two would both get to live in my manor with your own room and have all the things you two would need to live a happy life. And you would not be separated. This can all happen effective immediately, as soon as you say the word. So, What do you say?”
This was insane. It was everything he and Mari could need. They could lead a normal, safe, and good life. There were so many goods that could come of this and yet…
Graysons are never tied to the ground my little robin. We must never be afraid to spread our own wings and soar. We are free spirits and we fly our own way.
With only that thought in his head, his ressove hardened.
“While I appreciate the offer Mister Wayne, I’m afraid I have to decline.” He began, “My parents used to say that we should never let ourselves be tied down. They were free-spirited and loved to travel. I want my sister and I to continue their legacy.”
Bruce looked a little shocked at this, and also a bit put out., but he quickly covered it with a determined look of his own.
“I see. If I cannot assist with housing, please let me help in any other way possible. Money is no issue, I can promise you that.” Bruce looked so ready to help them. And hell, if they couldn't use the help.
Dick was at a loss for words, “I- Mister Wayne- I can’t thank you enough!” Marinette would get to have the life their parents would have wanted for her. He didn’t have to worry about money any more. They could be free and go where the wind would take them. This flood of relief he felt did ease his grief a little for only a moment. It was one weight lifted off his shoulders.
“It’s the least I could do Mister Grayson.” He nodded, looking a bit relieved himself.
“Please, call me Dick Mister Wayne.” At that Bruce’s mouth quirked upwards the tiniest bit.
“Only if you call me Bruce.”
~
Over the next few years, Dick and Marinette went everywhere imaginable, traveling with the circus.
Eventually they decided to travel at their own pace. Marinette instided they spend more time in their favorite countries. They spent a few months in each, both gathering a love for each culture and language. Marinette especially took a bit of every country with her, absorbing each like a sponge.
Without the circus to keep them active in their travels and with barely any means to keep themselves protected, Dick and Marinette accumulated a mesh of different fighting styles. Neither ever truly mastered one, but both fought in a way very specific to them.
~
Currently somewhere in Italy, the two were waiting for one of their mentors to arrive for a meeting.
“Duckie!!” Marinette, now nine, ran to her brother with that particular spark in her eye, “Duckie! Guess what!”
Dick, smiled a little at the familiar nickname, “What’s up Nettie?”
Marinette jumped up and down excitedly. “Look what I can do!”
The small girl smiled and ran a little ways into the field nearby and did three handsprings to the shock, and pride of her brother.
“Good job Marinette,“ A voice that was not Dick‘s called from behind them, “I’m glad to see that you are improving well.”
An overall average looking man in his late 30’s wearing a firm, yet warm expression walked towards them.
Their mentor, Malachi Dobraski.
“Uncle Chi!” The Marinettw siblings voiced, running to him.
Malachi’s mouth turned upwards at the sibling’s outburst. “Yes, yes I have finally arrived. You two are, of course, ever so humbled to be in my presence.” There was a stretch of silence before the three burst out in laughter.
“Wonderful to see you two as always.” He said as he bent down to give Marinette a hug.
“So what did you need Malachi? You never call meetings so early in the month.” Dick said as he turned to face him.
Malachi hummed in an impressed manner, “Very astute Richard. I asked you here today because I wanted you to meet a friend of mine I had mentioned earlier. Gina, If you remember.”
At the mention of the woman Marinette perked up, The one who travels all around the world like us? We really get to meet her?” She topped off her questions with a wiggle of excitement.
“We’ll have to see about that Nettie.” Dick spoke fondly as he smiled at his sister’s antics. He then turned his attention to Malachi, “Will she be in town soon? You’re rarely one to throw out praise for no reason and you’ve spoken highly of her in the past.”
“She is a lady well deserving of my praise, Richard. To answer your question, yes. Ms. Gina will be in town Thursday evening.” their mentor said with another small grin.
Dick hummed while tapping his chin, “That’s about two days from now. Unfortunately me and Mari probably won’t be able to meet with her right away. We’re tied up until Saturday I believe. Will she be in town for long?”
“Gina is a free spirit, so it’s hard to say. However she has been interested in you two since I mentioned I was taking students again. I expect she’ll stay long enough to meet you.”
“That’s great!” Dick said, as cheerful as ever, “That settles it then.”
“Yay! We get to meet aunt Gina!” Marinette exclaimed, jumping up and down.
Instead of correcting his sister, Dick just shook his head with a laugh. Why does everyone we hear of instantly become family?
~
Marinette sat at a tall table in a quiet cafe. Her tiny legs swung eagerly underneath her as she hummed to herself. Her brother was up at the counter ordering their drinks. She was sketching, or trying to. It was really hard to focus when she was so full of jitters.
Today was the day they were supposed to meet Ms. Gina and while Marinette was excited, she was just as, if not more, nervous. She has always been this way with new people.
————————
That is the end of what i have written BUT NOW the outline:
Section One
Dick is older in this 16/17
Mari is 5 or 6
They grow up with their parents, until they die, again.
Dick is old enough to be emancipated/take custody of Mari
(Bruce didn’t adopt them but he helped Dick get emancipated and gave them loads of money)
Their parents were free spirits and loved to travel
Dick decides they should keep that alive.
The two stay with the circus traveling for around a year
And they continue to travel for 1 or 2 years
They meet Gina
Dick kinda wants to settle down Gina recommends Paris
They go to Paris
They get an apartment (thank you plot convenient Bruce money)
(she’s around 10 or 11 now. He’s 19 or 20 now)
Dick wants Mari to make friends or get a feel for regular school so she goes to FD
Section Two
Separately, Damian and the league are in turmoil (the coup happens)
Thalia might die Idk
Damian, not knowing what else to do, flees to Paris?
Tom and Sabine have always wanted children but were never successful
They find this aggressive child on the streets of course they take him in
Damian would grumble about their ‘lower status’ but would of course be secretly grateful and surprised at the unconditional love and care he receives from T and S
Section THree
Back to Mari
Being raised by Dick, she learned to be true to herself and also headstrong
She takes no crap from ChloĂŠ
(She eventually learns of her situation with her mother and they become less aggressive towards each other)
(she also learns a lot of different skills and fashion things)
Section Four
Damian arrives at FD
(He’s like 10 or 11 Mari is like 11)
Damian and Mari are both ahead of the curriculum (Both home schooled) same class
She is her kind self, doesn't know anyone else well and Dami is another new kid.
They stick together out of a sort of necessity
He’s cold at first but (go figure) he softens for her eventually
They slowly grow closer as friends
Dick becomes another behaviour mentor and Brother esq figure to Dami
Dick also sees Daminette’s in love right away
He teases Mari about it
Bada Boom they're 13 now
Section Five
Miraculos canon GO
Mari gets ladybug Dami gets cat
Mari doesn't get a crush on Adrien (the gum incident doesn’t happen because Chlo and Mari are on better terms)
Mari and Dami both immediately recognize each other in costume
Mari’s outfit is black with red detailing sans her cape/glider that’s full red with the five black spots. Has deep red boots that go up to the knee. Her ribbons are longer and can detach to use as a makeshift ribbon dance things (she also goes by Ladybird instead of Ladybug)
Damian’s outfit is his assassin outfit but black and tan undertones with cat ears (his pupils don’t change to slits) Damian goes by Leopard
Dick notices a change immediately He confronts Mari, She caves and tells him too
(She consequently reveals Damian’s Identity as well. No one could have that kind of chemistry with Mari that quickly)
He signs her up for many martial arts classes (She already had training in a few, picking up a lot from her travels)
Damian also helps train Mari in some ~Assassin Skills~
Basically, they’re bad asses.
The only thing stopping them from defeating Hawkey boy quickly is the fact that they can’t find where he is
Section Six
Moving on, Salt
Lila happens
Lila still sets her sights on Adrian (he’s got money at this point Damian is just a baker's boy to Lila.
Lila isolates the two from the rest of the class, even more so than they already were
Damian thinks the class are even bigger idiots
Lila is still an awful person and wants to make both Dami and Mari’s live miserable
Lila tries to go to Dick about Mari “bullying” her
He laughs in her face (he choses laughter instead of seething anger. thanks Hawky)
Lila then tries to get through to Tom and Sabine about Damian
This time it works, they have less reason to trust Damian (and he was also a major prick when they first took him in
(this happens over a year or so. Lila slowly gaining the trust of the class and Tom and Sabine)
The environment gets very toxic Dami and Mari decide to leave the school and go to online schooling (like at college level)
Section Seven
Time skip. They are 16 now
The two have had feelings for a while, they now realize them
Dami is less emotionally stunted, having both Dick and Mari around (Tom and Sabine too but they kinda suck now) so he doesn’t panic much
Mari is full panic mode
Dick is just in the corner all smug-like. (“you didn’t know you loved him? I’ve known this for years”)
Que pining
Lots of pining
There’s some angst, Tom and Sabine are negligent towards Damian (not mean but still neglectful)
He ends up staying with Dick and Mari more often than not
Eventually they both confess after a particularly rough akuma battle (the one where mari becomes the guardian?)
Both of them almost watched the other die. That was too heartbreaking for either of them to not confess
So they are together now.
It was an easy transition, they were already married pretty much
They’ve already figured out who Hawky boy is. They just need evidence
They get evidence. They also discover Lila was working with him
They take care of the Hawkmoth situation
Section Eight
Everything is good now right? Wrong
Batman Finally goes to Paris once Hawky is defeated,
(he kept in touch with Dick all these years and knew what was going on, {He practically became their “uncle Bruce”} He only stayed away cuz Hawkmoth)
When Damian sees Bruce visiting Mari’s House he freezes,
Mari: “what's wrong Dami?”
Dami: *whispers in her ear*
M: “He’s your WHAT???”
D; *whispers more*
M: “I- You- Um- WHAT”
D: *walks up to Bruce* “Hello, I know this is an odd way to meet but I am sure you know of Thalia Al’ Ghoul.” *B nods wairily* “Yes, well, I am your son. And unfortunately hers as well.”
“Yes, I’d be perfectly happy to do a blood test.”
Dick and Mari are shook
“Damian, You must come to live with me in Gotham”
Dun
Dun
Dunnnnnn!!!!!
End Part One
Again I am sincerely sorry I was not able to complete this story in time. Like I said before, I will (maybe/probably) be finishing this and planning a part two! I hope you enjoyed! (even though it’s the first fanfic i’ve written)

A New Home - (The Irreplaceable Charlie Weasley AU)
Warnings: A realtor ready to be hexed by Charlie
Word count: 3,695
Characters: Charlie Weasley and my OC Nova from TICW which you can find here
Nova
“So then we finally found the hole where Fang was kept and I wanted to investigate, you know, be cautious but your mum here decided to be a Gryffindor for a day and act brave and just jumped down there. I, of course, jumped right after her and I was a bit mad at her because...”
“A bit?” I raised my eyebrow at Charlie.
“Hey, I am telling the story.” Charlie stuck out his tongue at me. “As I was saying, a bit mad at her because I wanted to go first and didn't want to see her get hurt, and then we talked in a totally normal voice that one can't consider shouting...”
“Right.” I giggled at his ridiculous story-telling.
“Love, stop interrupting me.” Charlie glared at me. “Then we heard Fang and we ran to this cave that belonged to a Red Cap and well, we saved the dog!” Charlie threw his hand in the air all proud and hero-like.
“With a few alterations and details missed that's the story, yes.” I chuckled.
I ran my fingers through Charlie's hair who was resting his head on my knees telling our Red Cap adventure story to the baby in my belly. I am five and a half months pregnant now and ever since I started to show, Charlie has been talking and telling the baby stories, looking at it as if it's the most beautiful thing in the world. Sometimes he places gentle kisses on top of my bump and tells the baby that he loves them already and that he can't wait to meet them. He has evenings when I am reading a book and he gets bored and just starts to rub my belly, singing to it.
I find the whole thing adorable and it warms my heart that he is so excited to be a dad. I know that he is a family man and that he always wished to have a family of his own but I have never imagined him to fall into the role of being a dad so quickly.
The voice he used to talk to the baby was the softest I have ever heard him speak in and his exaggerated stories from the Sanctuary were my favorite to listen to. He made himself look like a strong superhero who all the dragons listen to and if I could, I would listen to him talk all the time. Less than 4 months now and we will meet our baby and I can't wait for Charlie to tell them more incredible stories, no matter how much he changes it or how many details he leaves out.
“I have another one!” Charlie exclaimed after a few minutes of him staring at my baby bump, probably daydreaming about holding our child.
“Char!” I giggled.
“Shh, love. I'm in my story mode.” He sluggishly made his way to me and pressed a tender kiss on my lips.
“So, let me tell you the story of how your mum and dad met.” Charlie went back to resting his head on my knees.
“Didn't you tell this one already?” I teased.
“No.” He shook his head. “Not in the way I am about to tell it.”
“Of course, there are variations.” I tried sounding serious, finding his excitement amusing.
“So, by now you probably know that when mum and I were at school I was a bit obsessed with dragons...”
“Was?” I raised my eyebrows again.
“Am...” Charlie playfully rolled his eyes, correcting himself. “Of course, not as obsessed as I am with your mother and with you.” He kissed the spot right under my belly button.
“Okay, where was I? Right, I am a bit obsessed with dragons...”
“A bit?” I pressed my lips together not to start laughing.
“Love, let me tell this story,” Charlie whined.
“Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.” I ruffled his hair and nodded to make him continue.
“So, I was reading this book about dragons and some Slytherins came by to say hello in a bit of a rude way and your mother, amazing as she is, didn't like the way those students were talking to me and she drew out her wand and hexed them all to the ground and the look she was giving them scared them so much that they didn't leave their dormitory for a week!” Charlie gasped dramatically.
“That is not at all what happened.” I laughed wholeheartedly.
“Of course, it did! You're brain just remembers it differently because you're modest.” He smiled gently at me and sent me a wink.
“Your mum is a hero and never let her tell you otherwise, she just doesn't like to praise herself, so that's my job!” I grinned as he said those words, his eyes on my belly.
“And you're doing great and sorry to interrupt you but we have to go.” I cupped his cheek to make him look at me.
“But I was just about to tell them about Helga, the Giant Squid!” Charlie looked disappointed.
“And we would both just love to hear that story but we don't have time. We'll be late to meet the realtor.” I explained.
“That's not in another two hours.” Charlie swung his hand.
“Char, you have been telling stories for those two hours.” I giggled.
Charlie turned around to look at the clock on the wall.
“Blimey, I got a bit carried away again, didn't I?” His cheeks turned scarlet.
“No,” I shook my head, trying to get up, “I love how into your stories you get.”
He offered me his hand to help me stand up. It was already harder for me to get up and I still had so many months to go! I made my way to the bathroom. All I do all day is read baby books, listen to Charlie tell stories, and pee. Pregnancy isn't at all what I expected but not in a bad way – in a way, it's kind of fun.
“Okay, do you have everything?” Charlie asked as I walked down the stairs.
“I have to go pee one more time.” I smiled sheepishly, returning to the bathroom. “Didn't you pee five minutes ago?”
“Don't question the bladder of a pregnant woman, Charles,” I shouted from the bathroom.
“Fair enough.” I heard him giggle, waiting patiently for me to finish.
—
“I think this one will be more to your liking.” The realtor grinned at both of us before turning around and rushing to the building.
“And I think we should change the agent,” Charlie whispered to me looking a bit annoyed.
“One more house, one more chance.” I tried staying optimistic.
Honestly, I was only doing so to stop Charlie from hexing the man who was showing us houses. There are 3 wizard villages around the 3 kilometers radius of the Sanctuary and one Muggle one. We looked at 4 houses so far – one in each – and despite describing to the realtor in advance what we have in mind for our new home, the houses he showed us were nothing that we were hoping to see.
Charlie was getting annoyed, worried about me being on my feet and apparating as much as we did and I was losing all hope that we would be able to find a nice house so close to the Sanctuary. We both don't like to apparate so we wanted a place to live where we could easily walk to the Reserve.
Due to us having quite some money spared and both having a nice salary, Charlie insisted that I stay at home the second I started showing, due to how dangerous our job is. I tried protesting for about five minutes – missing my work due to being home because of morning sickness a lot already – but he didn't want to hear it and with all the years of being together I knew better than to argue with him.
Not that I have anything to complain about. Charlie makes me breakfast every morning before going to work. I mostly read during the time he is working because mum and Penny sent me so many books and the Ravenclaw in me was jumping from excitement. By my 5th month, I was so knowledgeable about babies and giving birth that I don't think I can get more ready. After Charlie comes home we eat dinner together and then we usually cuddle on the couch and tell each other about our day. He either tells the baby stories or we play a game where we try to guess who the baby will resemble more and of course, there's always the question will they like animals and beasts — more specifically dragons.
If I'm having a rough day – where everything irritates me and no matter how I sit or lay down I get uncomfortable – Charlie either massages my feet or my shoulders and brews me mint tea.
Because I was home alone for most of the day and I have a vivid imagination and know how to draw I made some sketches of our dream home. I also researched the villages around the Reserve and tried to get as much information for the realtor for him to have an easier job finding us the right home.
I know how much it means to Charlie that we stay near the Sanctuary and since I felt bad that he was working and I was just sitting at home, I wanted to do my best to make his wish to be near dragons a reality.
What the realtor showed us so far was crushing that. One house was half demolished and we would have to put in a lot of work to get it back in order despite us telling him that we want a completely furnished cottage-like house. The other one was about the size of our home now – which was the main reason we were moving in the first place and we said specifically that we wanted there to be at least three bedrooms as we weren't planning on moving again any time soon and we wanted to have more children.
The third one was empty and Charlie was sure it was haunted and the fourth one didn't have a single piece of wood in it and only a small window in the kitchen.
“Alright, one more and then let me hex him, please.” Charlie made puppy eyes.
“Deal.” I offered him my hand, a playful expression on my face.
“We are here!” The realtor turned to us, the proudest grin on his face.
“Wow.” Charlie and I said together.
“See, I told you you will like this one.”
He unlocked the front gate and rushed to the door of the house, or should I say manor.
“He is mental!” Charlie said through his teeth.
“Calm down, Char. Let's just look around and then get rid of him.” I whispered.
The house he thought so much would be to our liking was nothing like we hoped it would be.
“It has 5 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms, two gardens, and a pool!” The man almost jumped in the air.
“Great.” I forced a smile, looking up the tall ceilings of the dark room, feeling more like in prison than at home.
“I didn't know we apparated from Romania. Is this Azkaban?” Charlie tried lightening the mood, probably when he saw the disappointed expression on my face.
“7 bedrooms, what are we supposed to do with that? It looks nothing like a home and I most definitely can't picture us raising our children here. Imagine them running around and getting lost in their own home. How are we supposed to find them? Shout all around the house? It's not intimate, it's not family-friendly and it's cold!” Charlie's eyebrows came closer together with each sentence, gripping his wand.
“It's so big, I don't even know where that man is so that I could hex him!” He continued.
“Let's just go,” I suggested.
“What?” Charlie turned to me.
“Let's just leave him here. We don't know where he is anyway and before we find him we can already be halfway home if we walk.”
“But...” Charlie tried to protest.
I knew he wanted to shout at the man and probably wasn't joking about hexing him at this point.
“Char, please. I really have to pee and my feet are killing me.” I pleaded, hoping he would let this go.
“Okay.” He sighed. “But I am only doing this for you because you have to pee and I want to massage your feet.”
“Of course.” I nodded and gently entwined our fingers to pull him toward, what I hoped, was the right door to get out of here.
“Charlie, we have to apparate,” I said as we got out of the house after what seemed like 15 minutes spent in this labyrinth.
“No, love. You apparated enough as it is. Remember what the doctor said.” He gave me a warning look.
“But I need to pee and I can't hold it until we come home,” I whined, pressing my legs together.
“Okay, okay.” Charlie pulled me in a hug and started looking around. “There has to be a pub or a restaurant around here where you could go pee.”
“There!” I pointed at a sign that had a plate and a fork on it.
“Go, go, go. Find the bathroom and I'll explain to the staff why we came.” He gently pushed me toward the building.
I tried walking as normally as possible, me having to pee so badly that it hurt while avoiding eye contact with everybody inside the restaurant as I was hoping nobody would stop me. I spotted the bathroom sign at once and rushed inside.
Just as I was ready to head back out, drying my hands in a paper towel, I looked at the mirror and my eyes caught sight of something behind me. I turned around and looked through the bathroom window.
It wasn't just a house. It was a two-story wooden house. It didn't look too big and it had a For Sale sign in front of it!
I hurried out of the bathroom and found Charlie talking to the bartender, telling them why I needed to urgently use the bathroom.
“Thank you.” I smiled at them and pulled Charlie by his sleeve.
“Where's the rush, love? This place looks nice. Let me treat you to lunch. We haven't been on a date for a month.” Charlie bestowed me with one of those smiles that usually weakened my knees but I was so excited now that I couldn't let his charms work on me.
“Maybe later. I have to show you something.” I jumped a little, excitement in my voice.
“What?” Charlie got curious.
“Come with me.”
We exited the restaurant and started up the path to the hill where the house stood.
“Look!” I pointed at it as I finished explaining how I know about it in the first place.
“That looks promising.” Charlie gasped.
We knocked on the door but nobody answered. With one look at each other, we knew we have to see how it is inside. I don't know if it was the excitement in my chest or did I have a good feeling about this.
We knocked again and then tried the door. It was open.
“Just a quick peek and if we like it we go to the agency tomorrow,” Charlie said and I nodded.
It was perfect. It had big windows that let a lot of light in. It was completely furnished with modern yet minimalistic furniture. It had two bathrooms, a master bedroom, and three other rooms – just like we wanted. The kitchen with a big dining table. The living room was spacious with a very cozy sofa and a fireplace – something Charlie was hoping for because it reminds him of the Burrow. The walls were wooden but well isolated and there was even a small guest room on the lower floor.
I watched Charlie walk down the stairs as he finished looking at the upper floor and I couldn't help myself imagining him walking down those stairs every single day. I was ready to tell him that when I felt a weird tickling sensation on the inside of my belly. I narrowed my eyes, not really familiar with the feeling, when it happened again.
Before Charlie could ask me why I was making a weird face, my eyes widened as I realized what just happened.
“Oh, Merlin! Char, come here!” I motioned with my hand.
“What? What is going on? Is everything okay?” His eyes went from mine to my hands on my belly.
“I...I think the baby just kicked!” I exclaimed, moving my hands around to feel anything.
“No way!” Charlie gasped and kneeled before me.
“Yes, twice!”
Charlie didn't know what to do, he was shaking from excitement, looking at my belly as if the baby was about to wave at him.
“It happened again!” I was pretty sure that at this point, my eyes were sparkling.
“Can you feel it?” Charlie asked, hope in his voice.
“Put your hands on it. Maybe you can sense it.” I gestured for him to lift his arms and positioned his hands on my belly the second he did.
“There it was! Did you catch it?” I looked down at Charlie who was staring at my baby bump with his mouth slightly open.
“Char?” I tilted my head, rubbing circles on the back of his hands.
“I...”
“Did you feel it?” I lifted his chin gently so that our eyes met.
The second they did I knew he felt the baby kick because he was on the verge of tears.
“Nova, I felt it. I felt the baby kick!” He stood up so abruptly that I thought he was going to make us both stumble and he squeezed me in the tightest embrace, rocking us back and forth.
“This is a sign.” He whispered in my ear. “The baby likes the house, we have to go to the agency.”
“You want to live here, sweetheart?” I looked down at my belly as Charlie let me go and I felt another kick.
I didn't know if the kick was coincidental or if the baby could understand me, but I didn't care. I looked around one more time and I knew this was it. This was exactly what we were looking for.
“Who are you?”
We both jumped in the air, startled by the voice.
“We...we saw the sale sign and we...we wanted to look around. We...we didn't know anyone lived here.” Charlie stuttered, his cheeks bright red.
“There isn't anyone living here and the house is for sale. I'm the realtor.” The woman carefully took another step forward, offering Charlie her hand.
“Is it still available?” I couldn't hide the hope in my voice.
“It is.” The woman grinned when she saw how excited we were.
She showed us around and told us that the owner who built the house figured that the still life wasn't for him and decided to travel the world instead. She took us to see the garden which was perfect for children to play in. We felt as if we just got the best birthday surprise and without speaking I knew that Charlie already felt at home as much as I did.
However, our smiles were wiped off our faces the second the woman told us the price.
“That is a little bit out of our budget,” Charlie said to me when the realtor left us to discuss her offer.
“A little bit?” I sighed, disappointed.
“We can manage.” Charlie put his hands on my shoulders, making me look at him.
“Char, that's all our savings, and I won't make any money when I'm home with the baby, we can't be that reckless.” I shook my head.
Even though I was in love with the house, I knew we had to think reasonably.
“I'll work extra hours then.” Charlie offered.
“Char, we have to think with our heads here.” I pressed my lips together, to stop my jaw from trembling.
I couldn't stop myself from being so emotional. Of course, it was too good to be true. The house was exactly as we pictured it. I knew it was farfetched that we would get our dream home.
Charlie's brows furrowed when he saw the expression on my face, me obviously failing at hiding my emotions.
“Stay here.” He kissed my forehead and went outside.
I turned around to look at it one more time, to say goodbye to the house we could almost afford. I sighed and turned around to go outside. I stopped, however, when Charlie walked back in with the biggest grin on his face.
“Welcome home, love.” He cupped my face and kissed me hard on the mouth.
“Charles, what did you do?” I wanted to be angry with him so badly.
This was supposed to be a mutual decision and he wasn't thinking clearly, already being in love with this house. But at the same time, I couldn't blame him.
“I played the baby card.” He winked at me, looking proud of himself.
“What?”
“I told her that we can't afford it and asked if there is any way to lower the price a little bit. She asked me why we wanted the house so badly and I told her that we looked at so many today but that the baby kicked for the first time right in the living room and the woman melted when she saw me tear up, lowering the price to our budget!” Charlie jumped in his spot.
“No way!” I breathed. “Saying that I am pregnant, really does wonders!”
“I know!” Charlie lifted me and twirled me around.
“So, this is really our new home?” I asked one more time, the biggest smile on my face, my eyes glistening with tears.
“It's our home.” He kissed me on the nose and then leaned down to press his lips on my belly as well.
“Welcome home, sweetheart.” He said with a shaky voice and rubbed my belly.

Pomegranate, Chapter 17: Quiet Earth, Part I.
John Seed x Female Deputy
Rating: Explicit.
Read it on Ao3 here!
Notes: Thanks all who have been keeping up with this! I'm so consistently floored by the amount of content creators we have in this fandom corner and the sheer level of workmanship that exists here. This is the first chapter of Pom that I'll be posting to tumblr, and I'm hoping to draw up a little sketch with each update. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Big thank you to @shallow-gravy and @consumedkings as always for dealing with my stupidity and being a pair of top-notch angels, and also just like, everybody who takes time out of their day to engage with this? Y'all really sticking with ultra slow burn and I swear after some wicked angst in the next couple of chapters I'll finally be able to throw some well-deserved smut at you. WARNINGS: Forced conversion, descriptions of dissociation and derealisation, explicit language, sexual content, depictions of violence, guns, blood and gore. Canon-typical debauchery.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Don’t touch him!”
Mary May lunged with enough force for John to feel the wake of air sweep through him, even with how quickly she was snatched up and yanked back to her place. The soles of her tennis shoes squeaked against the floor as she was dragged to the far side of the room, unable to be trusted with providing audience to Nick’s Atonement.
A shame, really. It was nicer as a shared experience.
The Baptist rolled his jaw, off-setting some of the tension arising from the shrieks that the blonde flung at the back of his head. He righted himself, taking the tattoo gun from one of his faithful with a gracious nod, and turned his attention down to the pilot currently pinned to the floor. Without a word, he sank to his knees, straddling the man, keeping silent as he could just to listen out for any change in his demeanour. Fear. Grief. Defeat. Acceptance. A sign to prove his readiness.
Nick didn't flinch, breathing hard through his nose and watching with hateful eyes. John hovered an indicating hand over the man’s bare chest, bruised from the fight he’d put up against his capture, mentally mapping out placement. Then, he came in with the needle, beginning with the stem of an ’E’, right in the centre of Nick's sternum.
The pilot snorted, masking discomfort with indifference, turning a wince into a scoff. “Figures you don’t use stencils. I ain’t got a hope in hell of this turning out good, do I.”
That casual old Nick attitude. He missed it.
If only he’d let him do this 5 years ago. He wouldn’t have had to miss it.
John feigned offense. “Oh I’m sorry, Nick. Did you want me to do the rest in cursive? Add a feather? Infinity symbol?”
“For fuck’s sake-”
“Talk about tonal dissonance. It’s not meant to be pretty.” He grumbled. “Might’ve gotten a little more practice if you’d-”
A yell from the rear entryway pulled John’s hand away from his canvas. More squeaking. More interruption. Jerome Jeffries getting hauled into the church, held under each arm by the pair of Chosen that John had sent looking for him.
The Baptist cast a look over his shoulder at them, content with the sight of Jerome adequately beaten and bloodied. “Ahh. Pastor. Try to run and hide? It’s no wonder your flock ran astray with a shepherd so quick to leave them to the wolves.”
Jerome ignored him. No reply. No eye contact. A crime John noted to make worthy of capital punishment in the New Eden. The Pastor was set down beside Mary May, who immediately began seeing to his injuries. Murmuring bubbled between them.
“Did you reach them?” The bartender asked. Must’ve been a negative, because the next thing she did was curse.
“The Deputy was calling when they caught me.”
And if she had half the spine to come and broker an agreement for her friends, she’d be inbound.
“Could you at least gag them? I’m trying to concentrate.” John ordered no one in particular, earning another scoff from Nick. “The faster we work, the less we’ll have to get through once she arrives. The quicker we can be out of this heinous town.”
“Stay away from her, shitbag.” The pilot ground out, this time unable to save face when John retaliated, pressing the gun just a little too hard, digging down through an extra few layers of skin.
“Nick Rye, you’re a married man.” John tutted playfully, resuming his work. “That sin of yours again. Take, take, take. Didn’t think the Deputy to be your type. Wouldn’t say you’re hers, either.”
Nick looked downright disgusted at the prospect. Less concerned for the state of his wife - which meant she'd been a likely getaway. “Always been so fuckin’ jealous.”
“Come again?”
“Think folks are stupid? Think I don’t know you?”
“You don't know me, period.” John bit back, skin on the back of his neck flushing between boiling and freezing.
“Anyone else givin’ you this much trouble’d be long dead by now. That shit on the radio? Reckon you’d be talkin’ like that if your family could hear you across the river?” Nick continued, averting his gaze when John shot him a particularly poisonous look. He didn’t, however, find it necessary to respond to such a veiled accusation.
At least until -
“Everybody knows you wanna stick it to her, John-”
As if he’d been awaiting the chance, John’s free hand shot to Nick’s jaw, aching in protest when he squeezed, not stopping until he could feel the man’s molars beneath his flesh. “That’s about enough from you.” He crooned.
John had his desires, yes. He’d accepted that much. Had he not been sworn to celibacy, he might have jumped at the opportunity to respond to Cora’s advances last night. That said, she was still an outsider, and while her Atonement made the prospect less dicey, he couldn’t consciously consider laying with the woman in real life.
No matter how torturous it had become to gear his thoughts toward anything else.
He could be content with just her company, without making any further advances on her. Last night had simply been a moment of weakness, and he’d prevailed by stepping away.
“If you’ll excuse me.” John switched off the little machine once he’d completed his piece and promptly stood to beckon for replacement parts. Mary May might have gotten away with an allergic reaction last time he’d attempted this, but considering he’d be slicing it out of her within the hour, he couldn’t see any reason for her to be complaining. The bartender had been a thorn in his side from the start. While Nick and his wife had once lent John their...whatever a sinner’s closest equivalent was to friendship, Mary May had always been trouble. Wore her heart on her sleeve and trusted no one she hadn’t grown up around. Bolshie. Almost fucking killed him, once.
John busied himself with needle transfers and a pleasant expression. He could feel the woman’s eyes on him.
Did she think what Nick proclaimed? That complete and utter lie?
How fucking crass. No, he did not want to ’stick it’ to Cora. At least, as far as anyone else was concerned. He was fond of her, and - while yes, he had encountered temptation - if one disregarded the cum-stained, stolen panties in his pocket, and the conjured fantasies, and the purely incidental erection he’d maintained after the Deputy stuck her tongue down his throat last night - there was simply no evidence to suggest to anyone else that he was even remotely tempted to break the rules.
Sex was the furthest thing from his mind. It was mere coincidence that today had just so happened to fall on a morning in which he’d needed to trim.
…
If, however, she were to decide that she wanted to continue what she’d attempted last night, then surely he couldn’t be to blame if he only failed to stop her. It wasn’t technically fornication if he didn’t initiate it. Nor was it considered intercourse if -
“Brother John.”
John jumped, heart stopping, whipping his head around to the Chosen standing at the door of the church.
“What?" He asked thickly.
“The Deputy’s arrived.”
Right on cue, the crackling of gunshots drifted in alongside the Chosen’s announcement.
“Tell everyone to hold their fire.” John ordered. “We have them outnumbered tenfold. The Deputy can’t be stupid enough to create a hostage situation. Direct her here, and peacefully.”
The Chosen’s throat bobbed, swallowing back outrage, and John squinted hard at him, trying to dispel the flicker of green light in the mist outside as it settled against the man’s temple.
“John, I don’t think-”
He never got a chance to act on that incoming insubordination.
Instead, he jerked, cut off by a sickening crack as a section of his skull blew out of his head. Red mist and liquified brain matter followed, splattering against the doorframe, and the Chosen slumped lifeless onto the front step.
John wasn’t so much shaken by the killing as he was irritated by everyone else’s apparent refusal to let today go according to plan. Maybe also the pile of brains and hair now sitting on his once-pristine red carpet. He’d made this easy for the woman: kill everyone he could round up, leave her with no one to claim duty to, and get this all over and done with. Have her home by mid-afternoon. Embark on a new chapter and achieve salvation. It was that simple.
Woe to him for trusting in her common sense.
“Fuck’s sake. Wrath begets more wrath.” He muttered, smoothing a hand over his chin. He didn’t have the patience for this any longer. “Fine. Sister -”
A woman stood from the pews as soon as John made eye contact, equally as unshaken by the scene mere feet away.
“Send out word: the Deputy wants to sacrifice her friends for the sake of a fight.” John punctuated the end of his sentence with a click as he returned his focus to jamming the needles into his tattoo gun. “Give her what she wants. Take her by force.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The smokescreen was beginning to clear, but despite the weight it was taking off her lungs, Cora would’ve preferred it remain just a little longer. At least until they’d cleared out the town. Had they been quicker, it might have lasted longer. Covered their approach to Fall’s End. Given them more cover to sneak about unseen.
The streets, while still hazy, were visible now. It wasn’t a difficult task watching Peggie silhouettes run from building to building in search of her team. Resistance members and civilians were either in the process of being rounded up, or littered the road and pavement, dead. The Ryes, Mary May, and Pastor Jerome were yet to be seen amongst either group.
Same went for Boomer.
Aside from the barking of orders from Chosen and faithful, there was little sound. Knowing how much of a fuss her dog had put up the last time he’d been caught by the Project struck Cora’s nerves. He was his own alarm, and he would not go peacefully.
Not hearing him was an indication of the worst.
Some part of her brain argued against the idea. Vouching that John wouldn’t have hurt the creature. That was her dog. He had to be an exception to the massacre, no matter how vicious he behaved.
She had to find him, and creeping through the rear entry of the Spread Eagle was the first point of call.
Luckily enough, the back door had yet to be boarded up. Peggies who rushed past covered windows hardly stopped to peek inside the place for fear of being tainted by the presence of alcohol. Sneaking in was simple enough, too, at least once Jess had picked the lock.
“I’m going to pretend that door was open.” The Deputy murmured her equivalent to praise, passing into the building.
Grace headed straight in after her, taking a left to search for any sign of Mary May while she took a right toward the stairs.
“You pretend the Cook’s head was already gone when we found him?” Jess whispered.
“Freak accident. You all saw it.”
“First floor’s clear.” Grace announced from the serving hatch in the kitchen, clearly unhappy about it.
“Right.” Cora acknowledged, “I’ll check up top.”
The second story was as dead-quiet as the first. Furniture had been knocked over in the hallway and bedrooms had been raided. None of it indicated anything good, but she still had to know.
Cora pushed open the door to her room, and while she held no expectation of what she’d find, her heart sank anyway.
It was empty.
Boomer was gone.
Only his makeshift collar and a tattered bandana remained atop the rug he’d been snoozing on that morning.
Her dog.
John had either taken him or killed him, just like the rest. He’d do the same to the rest of her team. She should’ve taken the Baptist’s offer before the latter had even become a possibility.
“No sign?” Grace affirmed once the Deputy slipped back down to the first floor. “My guess is either they’re in hiding, or John’s giving them special treatment. If they were dead he’d be parading them.”
Sharky and Hurk exchanged a frown when Cora offered only a nod, notably more meek than usual.
“Was he in there, darlin’?” Adelaide asked, a little too gently not to invite a sting to her eyes.
Cora felt her jaw clench. It was a different breed of nausea, trying to keep her composure under the scrutiny of the rest of the team. She managed to shake her head, and Adelaide’s hand found her shoulder.
“Could still be with the others, yet.” The woman offered.
“So how do we find them?” Jess asked.
Find John Seed, of course.
“Finding them’s one thing. Getting to them might be the harder part.” Cora began. “The smokescreen’s only getting thinner and there’s Peggies everywhere. It's grasslands from here to the hills. No way we can herd everyone across a field on-foot, safely. We’ve got to make sure they stay freed, first.”
“And?” Jess huffed. “We’re gonna kill some Peggies, right?”
The blonde considered that.
“We split up. Search the buildings for anyone who hasn’t been caught yet. Round them up and plant explosives as we go. With enough chaos, maybe we can have a shot at turning the tide in the short term.”
Sharky was practically trembling. “Explosives, like, everywhere?”
“Everywhere. The more damage, the better.” Cora replied. “Adelaide, Xander, pair up. Sharky and Hurk, same with you.”
“And us on range?” Jess grinned, trading a look with Grace who maintained absolute stoicism. “I’m so into that.”
“No.”
…
“Say what?”
“No more ranged attacks. I need you and Grace to head back to the van -”
Jess was advancing on her before she’d even finished her sentence.
“You’re pulling me outta the fight? The fuck gives?” The huntress loomed over the Deputy, incredulous. Cora made an effort to stay put, but Jess’s insistence managed to outweigh her stubbornness, forcing the blonde to compromise by leaning as far back as she could without falling.
“We can’t keep running on short-term wins.” Cora insisted. “We have to put our foot down. No more small assaults. No more hoping John gets demoralised enough that he hands himself over.”
Sharky frowned. “What’re you saying?”
She met his gaze, puffing out her chest, retaking her space. “I’m saying the Henbane Bridge is unmanned right now. If we get word to the County Jail, there’s no roadblock to stop them from helping us win this. John Seed’s throwing everything he can at us. I say we try for the same. I say we end it for good. We’re gonna take back Holland Valley. Today.”
“...You really like that dog, huh.”
“That too.”
Jess looked unconvinced. “So the two of us are running errands while the rest of you are holding the fort? Fucking bullshit.”
“I told you. No more range.” Cora bit back, jabbing a thumb toward Hurk and Sharky. “You’d rather send Boshaws and Drubmans to convince Tracey to send us her best people? No offence.”
“None taken, bitch.” Adelaide grumbled.
Grace exhaled, throwing away momentary hesitation. “We’ll be fast.”
Cora traded a nod with the sniper before looking to Jess once more.
Still unconvinced.
“They have cars with guns on them, remember?”
The corner of Jess’s mouth ticked. Temptation.
Mission accomplished.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The tacky fucking carpet was the first thing she noticed, creeping along Main Street. Bliss petals had been sprinkled all over the road leading up to the church.
The carpet ended at the door. An invitation if she ever saw one. Boastful. Arrogant.
A pang of dread ached through Cora's bones, holding her in place while she drew her revolver. It could be an ambush. It probably was an ambush, but there was nothing she could feasibly do to avoid it. If the others were in there, then she couldn't wait around any longer.
She had to do this. At least hold out until Jess and Grace returned, with or without help.
She'd been running for long enough. All other options had been exhausted. At least John offered the least awful defeat.
Drawing close to the entrance, the Deputy pointedly avoided examining a dead crow that had been impaled upon the wall. She inhaled, holding the breath in her lungs, steadying her heart rate.
It was only freedom.
She opened the door, immediately training the gun out before her, following its guide into the room.
About a dozen Peggies dotted the space, leaning against walls, lining the pews - all angled at the pulpit, observing Nick on the floor. He stifled a cry while John sliced through the final remaining layers of skin binding the tattoo to his chest, peeling the word 'GREED' out of his flesh. Blood pooled on the floor around them, and the moment John had stepped away, the pilot was descended on with antiseptic and bandages.
The Deputy waited for nausea at the sight to take its course. It never did. She was all but numbed to the sight.
"Deputy, run!"
Mary May's voice cut through the silence, and the bartender lurched from her own spot on the ground. Guns raised all around the room, swinging around to aim for Cora.
”Hold!” John barked immediately, unconcerned when the Deputy shifted her aim to him. Instead, he busied himself with washing his sullied hands. “Hold your fire.”
His followers obeyed.
Cora, meanwhile, cocked the revolver in her grip. One foot edged into the room, and she glanced around for the Project’s captives before returning her gaze to John. All on the other side of the room. Pinned. Fuck.
“Hope County Sheriff’s Department.” She announced, staring the Baptist down, ignoring the grin that crept onto his face - like he found it fucking funny. “Weapons on the ground. Step away from the hostages.”
“Hostages?” John snorted. He gestured Pastor Jerome, Mary May, and Nick. “These are guests! This is their Atonement. This is your Atonement.”
“Drop the fucking weapons.”
John’s patience thinned. Quickly. “I’m not doing this with you.” He replied simply. “Not today.”
With his own look around the room, John inclined his head. An unspoken order to which everyone carrying a gun turned them on her allies.
“We both know you don’t have enough bullets for everyone. Nor do you have the time. So why don’t you put down my gun and surrender.”
“Don’t-” Mary May was cut off with the tap of steel against her temple. Warning.
John was right. She was outnumbered. There was no chance of getting any of them out with force alone.
She inhaled. Exhaled. Watched the fondness slip back onto John’s face like it had never left, and set the gun on the floor.
“That’s my girl.” John murmured. Then, he motioned. “Get her ready.”
Cora’s stomach dropped as two sets of arms coiled around hers, each pulling and pushing, prickling at her skin with unfamiliar, sickening touch. Biology told her to resist. Escape the sensation. The downward pulling.
“No, stop it.” Escaped her while she squirmed. “Get off. Stop touching me-”
“Her friends can’t be far. Find them.” The Baptist ordered, turning away toward the pulpit.
Cora’s knees hit the floor. There was no holding the repetition of protests, but even as she consciously elevated the volume of her voice, it grew quieter in her ears. Calculated attempts to jerk away and make an escape became automatic twitches.
One of John’s followers - a female - crept into view, fingers tugging at the top button on her uniform collar. John readied a tattoo gun over the woman’s shoulder, and the Deputy’s mind screamed alarm bells. Get out. Escape. Fight back. Regain control.
“I won’t hurt you, sister.”
This time, she sank, curling forward, angling herself away from the woman. Another attempt, and she wrenched away again, snarling. Then, the Peggies around her must have gotten tired of all the fuss, because the tear of cotton clawed at her ears. Ringing through her brain.
Her back felt cold all of a sudden.
Green material slipped down her arms, and at the sight of her own uniform pooling in shreds in her own lap, Cora ceased her thrashing. The shredded shirt was yanked from her belt and tossed aside, and she watched with growing resignation while John turned back around.
His gaze found hers. Then flickered downward, first to the compression bra, then a margin to the right. “Here I thought you’d be unmarked.” He commented, inspecting what was visible of the old ink on her lower ribs while he approached.
Hands pressed against Cora’s shoulders, and she drifted back until her shoulder blades hit the floor.
John continued to loom until he stood directly over her. He sank to his knees, expression softening with his descent until he was on all fours on top of her. He looked almost adoring, and she hated how it comforted her, just slightly. She hated how the hands had disappeared from her limbs, and yet she still made no further attempt to escape. He had every ounce of power now.
She didn’t know she’d started trembling until his free hand swept over her collarbones, mapping out her chest, calming the gooseflesh beading on her from the chill, or the fright, or perhaps just that this whole thing felt so humiliatingly exposing.
A blush swelled over John’s throat, maybe indicating some straying line of thought. He snapped out of it and settled to sit on her hips. “This looks familiar, doesn’t it?” He teased, hovering the tattoo gun right over the centre of her sternum.
“Dont.” Was all she could manage. Weak. Pleading. “I don’t want you to.”
“You have no idea how good you’re going to feel after this.” John cooed.
One of his fingers drifted along her jaw. An attempt at comforting her, but to no avail. He looked equal parts gentle and feral with excitement.
The machine buzzed, lowering pitch when the needles finally pressed into her flesh.
This was it.
She’d lost. There was no going back, anymore. No more normal, no more ridding herself of this family. They’d taken everything, and now they were claiming ownership over her, too.
The others were being hunted. It was only a matter of time. John was working too quickly. They’d be gone before the Cougars even crossed the river.
Cora’s nerves muted. Sound closed to just the rumble of blood in her ears. She receded into herself. Found a backseat in her mind, away from the sensory overload and the humiliation and her own failure while her body quietly continued: ”Dont, don’t, stop.”
She’d lost, and John wouldn’t stop. Not while he was branding the evidence of his victory into her flesh.
Defeat tasted worse than anticipated.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Bullets whizzed overhead while Sharky and Hurk took cover beneath the window, watching helplessly as the aisle of potato chips and bar nuts was torn to shreds by the onslaught. Dorito dust filled the shop like mustard gas.
“Cuz, I think they found us!” Hurk barked, snapping an arm over his head in defence when a stray round ricocheted off the front counter.
“What gives you that impression?” Sharky hit back, hurriedly setting down his shotgun and shrugging his backpack to the floor.
“How many are there?”
“How about you check?”
“How about you check?”
A moment of quiet occurred while the cousins glared at each other, leaving their standoff to a battle of no blinking. Then the Peggies outside must’ve finished re-loading, because the back wall of the shop was suddenly being shot into swiss cheese.
They were okay. Everything was cool. Addie and Xander had taken their share of explosives and gone the quiet route. Grace and Jess were gone. Shorty had disappeared into the church, and while he couldn't count the best, Sharky was pretty confident that John had caught her.
Could they have kept on looking for survivors and breaking out captives? Sure - but why do that when they could kill, like 40 birds with one stone and beeline for the gas station? It was conveniently across the road from the church, empty of any and all life barring the dormant tanks underground. An explosion that big was sure to fuck up like a good portion of Main Street. Not even the Chosen would be able to resist checking it out.
Disconnecting the safety switches had been easy. He’d been arrested for doing it like 5 times already. Cops, Peggies; it didn’t matter - Sharky knew what he was doing, and without the giant swinging dick of the law hanging over him, the man was on a mission. Cultists shooting at him was fine. He was used to that.
Threat of death or no, he wasn’t giving up the chance to see this place blow sky high.
“We’ll be outta here any second, Hurky.” Sharky assured. “Just gotta sprinkle a little C-4 around the place and we’ll be gone before it even goes off.”
Hurk was sweating. A lot. He was accustomed to being shot at, but normally, he had more than just Sharky to get him out of a tight spot. “Alright, bro. Gimme some. Many hands and what have you.”
“Fuck yeah. First step, toss some at the tanker outside. We wanna get the place as fiery as possible up here to wake up the big boys underground, and-”
Sharky stopped in his tracks, eyeing the backpack he’d just been in the process of unzipping.
“-uhh.”
“Uhh?”
“Hurky, can I be real with you?”
“Is now the best time for a deep and meaningful?” Hurk hissed, crawling toward him nonetheless.
The arsonist stuck his hand down the pack, rifling through fluff and mesh. “I, uh, I think I brought the wrong bag. And by think I mean know without a shadow of a doubt.”
Hurk watched as his cousin tugged the green, furry headpiece of a dragon out into the open.
“You brought-...”
“I brought my fursuit.”
“Not the C-4?”
“Not the C-4.”
“Okay, bro. That's fine. I'm not mad. Human error. Not even a little bit?”
Sharky checked again, just for good measure. “Nope...so, uhm...you got a match?”
Hurk ran a hank through his hair. “Not to poo poo your ideas, but that probably ain’t the best move.”
So just like that, they were fucked.
Jess and Grace still hadn’t come back. The others were nowhere to be seen. Shorty was holed up in that church, and he and Hurk were about to be rounded up by born-again virgins.
Shit, if that were the case -
“Well, if this is gonna be the last opportunity.” Sharky grunted, tugging the suit out and unzipping the back. “May as well enjoy our last minutes of freedom, huh?”
Hurk took the cue, creeping across the destroyed shop floor and reaching for a popped bag of pretzels. He sat back against the wall, leaning against the rocket launcher he’d propped up against the corner.
“Man.” The brunette sighed, staring at the floor. “If only we had some other kind of ranged, explosive device.”
“No shit.” Sharky agreed. “Some high velocity shit would fix this.”
They exchanged a sympathetic look once the arsonist had zipped himself up and crept over and sit beside his cousin, both leaning on either side of the RPG.
Hurk held out the bag.
“Pretzel?”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Was that so bad?” John asked, placing the tattoo gun aside and framing the Deputy’s marked chest. ’WRATH', in true black, beading with blood. The skin surrounding the text was mottled and inflamed. Excess ink covered the area in patches, gathering in the dip of her cleavage, disappearing beneath her sports bra.
All that sin, already leaking out through the exit he’d made for her.
Gorgeous.
Cora didn’t respond. That was fine. Shock was normal. She’d thank him once this was all over. For now, she just trembled, lock jawed, dissociated gaze searching what John had thought was him until he sat up. No, instead she was watching the ceiling.
John flashed a smile, blocking out a tiny streak of dread at the sight of the woman so vacant. Sweeping a lock of stained hair over her shoulder, he smoothed his fingers past her neck, attempting to gently angle her focus back to him. “Hey. You can come back now. We’re all done.”
You're finally on the other side. React to it. React to me. Look at me-
The boom came first, hollow and deep, and John felt the floor beneath him rumble. Chandeliers and decorations wobbled from the disturbance. Several of his followers shot from their seats, immediately abandoning the Resistance leaders they’d guarded in favour of pacing back and forth, trying to get a look at whatever was happening outside.
“Is this it?”
“Is it the Collapse?”
“It’s time?”
“John, is it the Collapse?”
The panic escalated quickly, forcing the Baptist to break his attention away from the empty woman below him and rein in the flock.
“Calm down.” He exclaimed, “It’s not the Collapse. It’s probably just-”
Another boom. Almost deafeningly loud.
This time, the whole church shook. Windows shattered in their creaking panes and smashed to the floor while pews squealed heavily in protest.
Contrary to his assertion, John dove down, covering the Deputy with his body. Holy shit, was it the Collapse?
The tremor must have been enough to snap Cora out of her trance, because a muffled “Get your tits out of my face.” buzzed against John’s chest.
Tragically, however, the Baptist never got the opportunity to reply to her. Had it not been for the fucking tennis shoe colliding with the side of his skull, he imagined he’d have something very clever to say. Alas, pain shot through his head and he jerked to the side, fighting against the blow to stay put. A snarl from Mary May, his apparent attacker, sounded in retaliation. She dove into him, knee driving into his ribs, throwing him off of the Deputy.
His thoughts left him for the briefest moment, overtaken by ensuing gunshots and shouts and the shrieks of the bartender as she was clawed away from him. Her hand shot forward right as she was yanked up, intended as a punch. It didn’t land, and John couldn’t help but shoot her a smirk for her failure.
“Deputy, gun!”
Nevermind. It wasn’t a punch after all. Mary May had been pointing over his shoulder at the revolver that had been surrendered on the floor. His revolver. The same one Cora was now scrambling toward.
No.
John lurched, heart leaping into his throat.
Not now. Not after he’d won. Not when they were so close.
His hand found the leg of Cora’s pants, wrenching, pulling her away from the weapon, and she kicked against him. Her finger tips slid against the barrel of the revolver, tugging it into her palm.
God wouldn’t fucking undo his victory.
John snarled, catching the Deputy’s wrist when she tried to aim - at him no less. Without her own recovery time achieved, he was able to wrestle the weapon from her easily enough, flattening her struggling body beneath his just long enough to hook an arm around her waist. He twisted around, holding the woman’s back against his belly. Her squirming ceased with the press of the muzzle against her head, and the moment her allies had taken notice of the change, everything went still.
Finally.
A little civility.
Several of John’s followers lay on the floor, either dead or close to it. Only a half-dozen remained, though the pair of Chosen had survived and placed themselves closest to their leader.
Pastor Jerome had procured a handgun from within his own bible - something that pulled a breathless laugh out of John as he surveyed the others. Nick hadn’t been able to arm himself, but he’d still tackled one of the faithful to the ground. His knuckles were bloodied. A familiar sight. Mary May had wrestled a gun of her own away from the woman who’d seized her. She aimed it shakily at John.
Armed but outnumbered, outgunned, and now, they were in check.
They never learned, did they?
“The way you people behave, you’d think salvation was a bad thing.” John tittered. “Right. Now, let’s try this again. Atonement, or damnation.” To punctuate his meaning, he tapped the muzzle against Cora’s head. She grunted in protest, and he ignored her. Of course it was a bluff. No one else knew that but him, though. It was too risky a move for the Resistance to let him do away with the one person that banded their factions.
She was their leader. They couldn’t lose her.
John looked around the room once more, locking eyes with Jerome first - then Mary May. “Are we going to behave?”
The answer was immediate and clear: a gunshot cracking through the Baptist’s ears and the flash of a blast spilling from Mary May’s weapon. Cora’s elbow driving into his stomach and the reaction time of his Chosen snapping to attention, covering him, already hauling John out of the church and onto the street.
Fuck no, he wasn't leaving without his prize.
"GRAB HER!" John howled, struggling against the attempts to get him to safety. "Leave the rest!"
It was a reluctant effort, but the Deputy was yanked along as well, shoved into Johns arms on his repeated orders, with me, with me.
“Mary May, what the fuck!” The Deputy roared over her shoulder.
“Sorry Deputy! I missed!”
Missed?
“You sure about that? Jesus fucking Christ!”
More shots sounded, but only the noise pursued them from the building. It wasn’t until John had shoved Cora into the back of the waiting truck that he realised how warm his hand had gotten. Wet, too.
“Get to the ranch!” One of the Chosen snarled up front, casting a look back at the Baptist while the vehicle took off, watching as he peeled away from the blonde to inspect himself.
Blood.
He was bleeding. But where from? Barring the sting of his scabs and that kick to the head, nothing hurt. There were no wounds hiding under his sleeves or -
A hiss sounded from the Deputy beside him, curling in on herself.
Shit.
She hadn’t elbowed him.
“Cora-” John scrambled for her. "Cora, let me see."
“Told you not to call me that.” The Deputy grit out, kicking at him until she’d well and truly jammed herself into the corner of the seat and the car door. Her left hand gripped her right forearm, just below the elbow and to no avail. Crimson coated the skin on her side, encasing her arm completely and seeping through her fingertips.
She was bleeding. Not heavily, but steadily.
”Deputy.” John bit back, advancing. “You’re hurt. Let me help-”
Just like that, the kicking resumed. “Don’t touch me-DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME-”
“For once in your fucking life, just relax!”
Only incomprehensible snarling came in response.
John rolled his jaw, brimming with as much irritation as he was adrenaline. The Resistance had made their choice. Regretful, but final. He’d gotten what he came for, and he wasn’t intending on losing her just because she was too stubborn to accept help.
He glanced at the revolver still in his grip. Then back at Cora, rotating the grip toward her. A threat. “Are you going to let me help, or am I going to have to calm you down?”
“Don’t you dare.” Her words came hoarse. She gave scowling a red hot go, but without the rationale to deny him, the Deputy lacked conviction. She exhaled. “Fuck it. We've done this enough already. You get ten minutes. Then you’re under arrest.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Her cheek twitched. A weak chuckle. The slightest flash of acknowledgement as she let him press his weight over her forearm. Thankfully, the wound wasn’t pulsing; nor was there a puncture wound. A gouged strip had been carved into her flesh where the bullet had grazed, but nothing vital seemed to have been struck.
“That - you can keep saying.”
"You're a flirt when you're in shock, Deputy." Had John not been too busy regulating about a dozen other emotions, he might have flushed at her words. For a moment, he just sat there, basking in the borderline friendliness on her face. Then, it occurred to him that they were among watchful company, and he cleared his throat, returning to his task.
Minutes passed. No more words were exchanged. Not until they’d passed the Rye and Son’s sign.
The Chosen in the front passenger’s seat looked over his shoulder, dismissing another over the radio before regarding the Baptist. “The Resistance isn’t making ground. The faithful are still rounding up stragglers, and we’ve taken casualties, but numbers are looking strong. Medic will meet you at the ranch, John. We can deliver our newest sister to the Gate while you recover.”
John inclined his head. “Much obliged. We need this one to stay with us until she’s completed her vows. She can’t be trusted unsupervised, but I won’t put the responsibility of containing her back on our people again.” He looked to Cora, then. Her face had run pale and she’d gone clammy, but she remained upright. Just...woozy. Pacified, for now.
He’d got what he came for. Fuck the rest.
“I have something to say.” The blonde announced, swaying against John’s arm. “I know why Mary May shot me.”
“This another one of your jokes?” John deadpanned.
“This one’s funny, I swear.”
“...go on, then.”
“It’s because I never tip.”
For a moment, Cora looked very satisfied with herself. Then, she retched, slumping forward into the Baptist’s lap when he instinctually jolted out of the potential line of fire. He hurried to steady her, keeping tight hold over her wound, and grimaced while the noise escaped her a second time.
Thank God nothing came out; his shoes would’ve been the first to know about it.
The Deputy didn’t sit back up.
That was fine. So long as she wasn’t dead. So long as she wasn’t fighting back.
“It’s all the sin escaping you.” John explained, off-handed, when a complaining grunt sounded below. “Evil being expelled from your body. You’ll feel better soon.”
“Pretty sure it’s my blood pressure, actually. Soon as I’m good again, you’re history.”
When one disregarded the fact that she’d had a gun trained on him earlier - and the blood drying uncomfortably on his clothes - and the persistent pounding of a headache from Mary May’s heel, this was almost pleasant. The quiet roads. The Deputy, all but atoned with her head on his thigh. Not fighting back. Conceding defeat. Peaceful.
He got what he came for.
He’d won.
He was saved.
Passing his thumb over Cora’s ribs, John’s attention was pulled back to the old ink peeking out from beneath the band of her top. Text, blurred and flattened enough to be years old, and too obscured to decipher.
“Thought I’d be your first.” The brunette murmured.
“Jealous?”
Yes.
“Don’t be ridiculous. What’s it say?”
“‘The Mountains Are Calling’.”
A sickening wave of dread passed over the Baptist. The rock forming in his throat, icy and bitter and seizing him against any reply.
The mountains are calling.
Jacob. Joseph. The Trials. Atonement wasn’t the final step. Handing her over to his brothers was the final step.
He got what he came for, but the woman in his arms wasn’t the trophy intended for him.
He was saved. He’d redeemed himself. He’d completed his task and Joseph would permit him beyond the gates. That was all he was supposed to do. That was enough.
That had to be enough.
“‘And I Must Go’.” John completed quietly.
Cora tilted her head a little, not quite looking at him - almost like she was trying not to. “You know John Muir.”
“Not enough to warrant a photo on the bedside table.”
“Shut up.”
There was nothing convincing about the chuckle he offered. He was too busy observing her, studying the side of her face. Committing her to memory as if he hadn’t spent years acquainting himself with every spot and micro-expression.
“Maybe working for you will be bearable.” She murmured, and John’s heart only sank further. "If I don't manage to arrest you."
The mountains are calling.
She still had no idea that all the promises he’d made her had been fabricated. That she wouldn’t be staying. That he’d lied to her.
The mountains were calling. In a few days time, she’d know it. She’d despise him. She’d be taken off his hands and he’d assume his regular duties once again.
He’d saved both of them.
Cora’s thumb absently grazed back and forth on his knee. Ignorant. “Can I ask something?”
It took everything in him not to mirror the action against her skin.
“Of course.”
“Can I start next Monday?”
"What happened to you being such a workaholic?"
"To be honest with you, I'm really fucking tired."
She’d be incredible. Jacob would love her. Joseph would be proud. John had accomplished something near-impossible for his family, and even if the Deputy hated him - even if she forgot him entirely, he was content with the knowledge that he’d have brought her to salvation.
Even if they never saw each other again, he’d know that she’d passed through the gates. That she’d climb to the surface once the world had been scorched clean. She’d rebuild, and marry, and have children, and he’d do the same.
Hopeful anticipation and the agony of longing had never felt so similar before.
“Fine.” John smiled, giving in, sliding his fingers up her arm and coaxing a stray lock of hair out of her face. There were no promises he’d be able to do it again after this. “But on one condition.”
“What?”
“Spend those days with me.”
Cora stirred, angling to peer up at him out of the corner of her eye. She smiled crookedly.
“Deal.”

Remember When 20 Aftermath part 2
RW masterlist
Master masterlist
Tim managed to rest when he got home for a bit. He had set his phone to not have any disruptions unless it was from Marinette. He changed that to a sound he would be able to hear through anything. He didn't rest very long. He ended up immersing himself in a work project. Only by forcing his focus into the complicated project was her able to get his mind off her for a bit.
He could ignore is phone and email for eternity but he was pulled out of his work by banging on the door. By the level of noise they were generating they were either angry or had been trying for longer than he had noticed.
---
Marinette smiled at the sweet older man who only wanted tea and cookies. He stopped her to talk because he said she looked sad and tired. She assured him that she just had a rough night but she would be fine. Marinette filled his tea and sat with him when they closed the doors. They couldn't do most of the rest of the closing tasks until the cafe was empty. They chatted for a few minutes and she also had a cup of tea until he said he should leave.
"I should take some of these cookies to my friend Tim. He lost a new friendship yesterday but he isn't sure why."
Marinette froze at his words before plastering a fake smile on her face. She handed him his receipt and the cookies.
"Well I hope it helps him. You have a pleasant day."
She wasn't sure if it was her Tim he was referring to. It wasn't an uncommon name but the timing and him carefully watching her response made her fairly certain it was. He took her hand and spoke again without hiding his meaning.
"He needed to know nothing had happened to you but he didn't want to be pushy. This is a number to reach me if you need anything. I would be as discreet as you required."
Marinette squeezed his hand back and then took the card from him. She didn't expect she would ever use it because she had no way of knowing who else he knew. But she didn't want Tim to worry about her unnecessarily after having sent the man as a sort of emissary to make sure she was safe without ignoring completely her boundary.
---
When Alfred got back to the manor it was in an uproar. Bruce was standing helplessly by while Barb and Dick argued. There was an overnight bag next to Barb and she had her coat and purse as if she had been about to leave before the fight started. Jason was sitting on the back of the couch with his feet on the seats eating popcorn.
"You appear to be leaving, Barb. Do you require a ride somewhere?" Alfred asked.
"Yes," she replied.
"No," said Dick, "please don't leave. Or at least wait until I can get a bag and go with you."
"I don't want you with me if you are defending what he did," she said.
"I was just telling you he wasn't actually going to do it. You know he wouldn't actually do something like that."
"An empty threat is still a threat. She clearly didn't know he had no intention of following through because she wasn't supposed to. Intimidation doesn't work if the one you are intimidating doesn't buy it."
"I think you are missing the part where he is doing all of this to shut down a dangerous drug ring."
"Which she had helped with as much as she could. The only way she has ever been treated is like the enemy when she should have become an ally."
"I think--" Bruce tried to rejoin their heated argument.
"No one cares what you think," Barb said much more venomously than they had ever heard from her. "I need time away. Do not contact me. I will let you know when and if I'm ready to see either of you."
She went out the door with her bag. Alfred looked back and forth between trying to fill in the blanks before following her out. Jason disappeared before they could recover from what just happened and turn to find out whose side he was on. He called Steph on his way to Roy's. He did not want to be around for the fall out.
---
It was the time Marinette had originally planned to be out with Tim. She couldn't stand being in her apartment anymore. She had already completed all her online orders and had a decent supply of her regular items to sell. She usually stuck to accessories with headbands and bracelets being the most popular but also a steady amount of special orders, usually for wedding parties. She decided to head off to mail the last few orders.
She packed her sketchbook and some snacks along with a little blanket and thermos of hot cocoa. She hadn't done too much exploring around the area in the last few months but she was very interested in a park she had passed by that looked really nice. She set herself up and started sketching.
She had a few ideas for new accessories to try but mostly she was drawing clothes. She didn't sew much any more since she wasn't selling clothing designs. Mostly she just made her own clothes to be cute, comfortable and functional. But all the things she was drawing today were for Tim. Even one day later, she missed him. Possibly because of the finality of their interactions. She had given him no additional information and he hadn't tried to contact her again. After meeting his friend she was fairly certain that she would have make a move if she wanted to see him again. She did, more than anything, but she couldn't explain why she had ended things in the first place.
She gave up drawing and decided that she would make the sweater. If nothing else it would remind her of him. She stopped on her way home to buy the right yarn for it and started making it after dinner.

locked down with you (1)- jay halstead
Tumblr media
jay halstead x fem!reader
summary: a series of scenarios between y/n and jay whilst they quarantine together
requested?: nope but requests are open :)
warnings: language but basically just fluff
a/n: still being in lockdown has made me think about what it would be like to be living with jay during these times. the following is just a strange combinations of scenarios i have thought about. not sure i how i feel about them :/
masterlist
day 1 of lockdown
“is that the last box?” jay called out as he reappeared from his room with a sweaty brow and a large smile on his face. he wasn’t sure if he would ever get used to seeing your clothes hung up beside his own in his wardrobe, or your shows lined up beside his by the door. it was strange, but it felt... natural.
“i think so, wow is it sad that my whole life can be packed up into 5 boxes?” y/n asked, collapsing onto the sofa breathing out heavily. jay let out a small chuckle, before he joined her, melting into the cushions that supported their bodies.
“well that’s not true, that was just your clothes, you still have an entire apartment of things waiting for you back home.” he corrected, with a smug smile pointed. the pad of it flicking her nose, making a childish giggle escape her parted lips. “but who knows by the end of this thing you might need to bring those over too.” jay hummed, leaning closer to her with lustful eyes. in a matter of seconds, his lips pressed lazy kisses against her neck, the sensation taking y/n’s body to a new level of euphoria
“just give it a week, halstead. you will be so sick of me you will have to kick me out.” she challenged, watching as he pulled his lips away from her skin for a moment. allowing their foreheads to rest against one another, eyes both equalling challenging the other to make the next mood. in a moment of weakness, it had been y/n to lean forward, igniting the warmth in their chest.
“if anything, i don’t think i will be able to let you go.” his breaths were rugged, only parting to say the last few words before he reconnected their lips. his hands respectfully running over her body, admiring the way it curved and held its unique shape.
he sure could get used to this.

day 3 of lockdown
“jay!” y/n whined impatiently as she threw her head back to demonstrate just how tired she was becoming. a strange ache running up her spine from the position she was currently sat in. her back arched as she rested against the arm of the sofa. her fingers pinching a pencil as she looked between her sketchpad and the angelic man sat a few centimetres away. “i thought i told you not to move.”
jay’s eyes narrowed in confusion, as he looked up from the pile of paperwork he had to complete by the end of the day. seeing his girlfriend sat in a large hoodie that she had stolen from their wardrobe and a pair of shorts, a look of boredom and frustration etched on her features, he had to question what the hell was going on.
“what are you talking about?” jay asked, in all honesty, he had been so focused on his work that he had tuned the woman out. from the look of art supplies spread over the floor, he could only assume she was occupying her day off with fulfilling her craving to be artistic.
“you know what, it doesn’t even matter anymore,” she sighed, closing up the book in her hands. “it was stupid anyway.” she muffled into the sleeve of her sweater, attempting to walk out of the living room towards the kitchen, a place she had labelled her ‘happy place’ from the moment she stepped into the apartment. slight guilt seeped into jay’s mind as he pushed himself away from the sofa cushions and wrapped her up in his bulky, warm arms.
“i’m sorry.” he apologised, arms trapping her in what only could be described as a bear hug. from her small frame, jay managed to rest his chin on the top of her head, until he brought his face down to kiss her cheek softly. “i’m sorry. i’m sorry. i’m sorry.” he repeated between each.
y/n felt her mood slightly, reminding herself of the effect the man had on her. she felt like mush in his hands that he was able to sculpt in whatever way he wanted and she had no objections.
“now what do we have here?” he spoke more to himself as he took the sketchpad from her hands, his fingers playing with the edge of the pages until he stopped on a page with a rather large sketch. the pencil lines were faint, but it didn’t take jay a moment to recognise the large image illustrated on the page. “holy shit, y/n.”
feeling her cheeks heat up, she tried to hide her face with her sleeves. she didn’t like to share her work with anyone, with fear that she would be laughed out of the room. but listening to jay’s taken aback tone made the butterflies in her stomach jump without any consideration for y/n’s wellbeing.
“i know it’s not the best, but-.” she attempted to denounce her clear display of talent by breaking out the embrace, but jay only held onto her tighter. using what control he had to turn her around to face him. he had placed the sketch on the coffee table, so he could focus fully on the beautiful woman standing in front of him.
“it’s amazing,” jay assured, his gaze diving deep into the soul present behind the beautiful colours of y/n’s eyes. “you are amazing, i’m sorry i’m so busy.” y/n didn’t need an apology. she knew that jay’s job was much more demanding than her own. it just seemed being forced to do nothing didn’t feel as good as when she chose to do nothing before any of this quarantine business was mentioned.
“do you want some help?” she offered, not wanting to intrude. her teeth brought in her bottom lip to bite in anticipation worried she had crossed the line. jay’s hand reached up to rest on the side of her face, his thumb resting on her chin as he brought it down to rescue her lip.
“you are the best, you know that?”
“ugh, come on, romeo.”
day 9 of lockdown
“okay-.” y/n began as she entered the bedroom, her body wrapped in a towel and her hair leaving water droplets behind her. it was sometime in the late afternoon and jay was laying on their bed. his attention had been caught by a book y/n had brought, but it had been stolen when she had entered the room.
“i don’t know what you’re about to say but i know it’s going to be a bad idea.” jay discouraged, he knew her. he knew her more than anyone else in this world. the way her voice had raised slightly at the end and she was currently avoiding eye contact with the detective, telling him that she was about to make to offer a foolish plan.
“no fair, you have to at least hear me out!” she whined like a child, searching around for her bras that were normally flung in different directions, thanks to a little too happy detective. jay watched her with a loving grin, she made him feel so alive.
“okay, proceed.” he gestured as though he was king of the castle ordering his servants around. flicking her middle finger up at the man, disappearing into the bathroom once again, but her voice could still be made out.
“i want to dye my hair!” jay couldn’t see her face, but he could imagine the little hop she had done in excitement at telling him about her idea. “or maybe shave my head, you know, since lockdown could go on for the rest of the year, it’s not like anyone will see it.”
letting out a deep chuckle, he waited until she reappeared to respond. her body, cladded in sweats (for once ones that belonged to her), collapsed down beside him. curling into the side of his body. she stared up at him dazedly, trying to read the thoughts behind his eyes.
“it’s your body, your choice,” he shrugged, his right hand coming to his side so he could grab ahold of her own. when interlocking their fingers, he made sure to run his thumb over her knuckles comforting. “i don’t care if you shaved off all your hair and your eyebrows whilst wearing a potato sack, you will always be beautiful to me.”
“i love you.” she hummed, leaning up to kiss his lips.
“i love you too.”
--
day 16 of lockdown
“y/n hurry up it’s on!” y/n heard as she grabbed a few beers from the fridge. as she reached the living room, she grinned at the sight of kevin, kim, adam, will, natalie on the computer screen.
“hey guys!” she squealed, giving jay a beer before putting the rest on the coffee table that the computer currently rested on.
“oh shit, now i owe kevin 10 bucks.” adam whined, his image slightly pixelated from his poor connection. frowning, y/n looked towards jay that was equally as confused. they then turned their gaze towards kevin, who wore a large smug smirk.
“ruzek here betted me 10 bucks that you two would have killed one another by day 14.” y/n let out a snort of laughter, throwing her head back in amusement. of course, kevin had bet in their corner, had it not been for him, jay and y/n wouldn’t have been together in the first place.
“honestly i wouldn’t have blamed you, y/n,” will spoke up, “it takes a saint to deal with jay’s slobbiness. i think i have only ever seen jay clean his room twice, mom always took pity on him.” will chuckled, making jay cower in embarrassment. y/n had seen first-hand jay’s ability to create a mess in a matter of minutes. a stray sock here, an empty pizza box there. before she knew it, they were eligible for Hoarders USA.
“shut up, will, are we starting this quiz or what?” jay changed the subject, trying to get over the embarrassment of being laughed at by their closest friends. in an attempt to cool him down, y/n hooked her pinky around his. offering him a soft smile when he looked up in her direction.
“hope you guys are ready to lose.” she teased, turning back to face the screen. jay watched the way she acted so freely, a kind smile never slipping from her face, her touch soothing his soul. at that moment he couldn’t help but think ‘this will be the woman i marry’
--
day 34 of lockdown
“-alright, alright i think he’s on his way. i’ll see you later.” y/n rushed out as she jumped off her position sat on the edge of the bed. her heartbeat was thumping against her chest as she shoved her phone back into her pocket, aware the sound of water had fallen silent.
it was jay’s birthday and y/n had been planning it for the past two weeks. unfortunately, it was well known that y/n y/l/n was awful keeping secrets. it was as though when she knew something, good or bad, she felt an immense amount of pressure, which ended in her exploding and spilling all to the one person she normally wasn’t meant to. but she was determined that this would be like the other times. she had gone the extra mile in avoiding conversation with jay, knowing one slip and her whole plan was ruined.
“hey, baby!” jay yelled, y/n’s body jumped in shock. his footsteps growing nearer until he appeared in front of him. his muscled torso on show as his bottom half was hidden away by a large grey towel. jay noticed y/n’s jumpy behaviour immediately, his eyes drawing nearer as he examined her face. “what’s wrong?”
“wrong? with me? pfft, nothing’s wrong with me. absolutely nothing. w-what’s wrong with you?” she rushed out, leaning her weight against the dressing table until her hand slipped and she quickly caught herself before hitting her head on the wood. jay shook his head in amusement, he had been worried for the past few days that he had upset the woman. she was unusually quiet, which normally indicated that something was wrong, considering she hated silence.
“doesn’t matter.”
seeing jay withdraw from her made her want to reach out, but her mind already ticked over to something else. running into the guest room, she reappeared with a shoe-like box. not knowing what to say, she shoved the box in his direction innocently. jay pecked her lips lightly, taking the box and taking a seat as he ripped the sparkly paper she had found in a random drawer.
removing the box lid, he peered into the box with curiosity. in a matter of seconds the teasing look fell from his face, replaced with a loss of words. in the box resided memories that up until that moment had been in the back of jay’s mind. letters that the pair had sent back and forth all those years ago when he had been enlisted in afghanistan. photos from jay’s police academy graduation, dates, christmases anything that held a sentimental feeling y/n wished to recreate.
“y-you kept all this stuff?” he asked, his fingers grabbing a small blue teddy bear that’s fur was slightly matted from the dust that had tainted its texture and colour. the very bear y/n had brought jay the time he had broke his arm back when they were kids, she had forced her mother to buy the bear from the giftshop knowing that it would cheer the boy up. she was right, of course she was right.
“of course i did,” she whispered, resting her chin on his shoulder, watching him study each individual object. “throwing away any of this stuff made me feel like i was throwing a bit of us, you know?” y/n felt stupid, but only the slight blush on her cheeks gave it away to anyone that looked close enough.
“thank you, thank you for everything.” snaking his arms around her, he brought his chest close to his chest. sometimes he felt like they were still the kids that would climb through each other’s windows just so they could hold one another and remind the other they weren’t alone. “i love you so much, i’m so happy i have you in my life.”
the tears brimming in y/n’s eyes were not missed by the detective, he didn’t miss anything she did. she was like art to him, something beautiful, at times a little misunderstood, but beautiful nevertheless. lifting his head to connect their lips, the two took their time, slowly allowing the lust to push its way through. before it could progress any further a loud blare made them jump apart.
“what the-.” jay began, watching as y/n pushed her way off the seat and running out the door. hesitantly he followed, leading his way out of the house until he found y/n grinning childishly.
“happy birthday, man!” pulling his eyes away from his girl, he found the familiar cars driving slowly down the road. the lights on the large black cars blaring as kevin leaned out the front car, whilst adam and kim leaned out the second. with the confusion seeping into the feeling of surprise, he felt y/n leave his side before reappearing. this time, her arms held out a large cake that had clearly been homemade considering the way the lettering that spelt out ‘happy birthday, jay’ slowly got smaller towards the end.
“you did all this for me?” he asked astounded, despite y/n being the most affectionate and loving person he knew.
“of course i did,” she responded as if it was the most ridiculous questions she had ever heard. “i meant what i said jay, i love you. this is the least i could do considering all you do for me.” the heart to heart was rudely interrupted by the blaring of a car horn.
“you guys can do your thing later, just blow out the candles!” adam complained, earning a thwack over the arm by kim. “i mean, totally up to you, buddy. happy birthday!”
jay chuckled, as he took in a deep breath and blew out the many candles that sprinkled over the sweet treat. before he ignored the cheers of his friends and kissed y/n passionately.
“this might just be the best birthday ever.” he grinned.
“happy birthday, baby.”

Hey y'all
My 10 days holiday ended and now I'm on the train home. Can't wait to arrive and draw my heart out. Even though I painted quite a bit on this trip, weirdly enough, I have this uncharacteristic hunger to do art.
I know I shouldn't promise stuff, but at least 2 drawings will show face in the spawn of the following 4 or 5 days. I'm really sorry for not posting as much here. Before I left, as well as on the holiday, I've been busy drawing DTIYSs that I could only post on instagram. But before school starts in Romania I want to make sure I have some art planned or ready for you here, on tumblr.
In the meantime, here is a very short thread of a few sketches I've done (some of them are still work in progress) :
