was watching the excellent take me to church animatic again (really great everyone should watch it ), it doesn't show Camilla in Harrow's bone shield at the end, reasonable since the focus is harrow and Gideon's relationship and Gideon's terrible sacrifice. but it is soooo funny and also significant that Camilla is there in the books. she didn't have to be there! she could have got knocked out and stashed away earlier like coronabeth and Judith, but no she is in the bone tent with them, politely looking away as they declare their undying devotion to one another, catching on before harrow does what Gideon is about to do and not stopping her. there is one constant witness to griddlehark development throughout the series and that is Camilla (and sexpal once they are reunited). She sees Gideon die for harrow, she sees harrow has crippled herself to save Gideon's soul, she is watching Nona for signs of them, she gets hypocritically microagressed by the remnants of Gideon/Kiriona about her own codependent relationship. Palamedes has a different but also intimate understanding of the relationship, he is the one Gideon finally confesses to about what she thinks she did to Harrow's parents as a child, and implied confidences with Harrow that we don't see in gtn. honestly so pumped to see Paul interact with Harrow and Gideon in Alecto - they know more about this relationship than the people who raised Harrow and Gideon on the ninth. I think Paul is such a dumb fucking name (pam was right there!!) but I think will have referential significance as they become witness and possibly evangelist to the new order that griddlehark will create for good or ill (fingers crossed lol)

If they aren't his friends, he'll either lean away or wipe off his hand. He hates being touched if he's not the one initiating it, to the point of wiping his sleeve off when Lucifer's hat just BARELY grazed against it.

He didn't wipe his shoulder off when Charlie stopped touching him either.

Before You Say 'He did lean away', or 'She wasnt actually touching him, her hand was just near him', Take A Look At This!!

Look closely at how he moves when she splits them up. He doesn't lean away, she SHOVED him. She actively MOVED him. That wasn't an 'oh she's making contact with me, guess I should lean away', it was a 'well she's shoving me now, I'll shut up for a minute'.

Which also proves she WAS touching him. She couldn't have shoved him if she wasn't making contact.

He didn't lean away from it, he didn't retaliate. The ONLY people he lets touch him are people he cares for. And not only did she put her hand on his shoulder, she actively pushed him back, and he showed no sign of discomfort towards it. So why am I screaming about this?

Because he DOES care! It proves he cares for her. Don't get me wrong, I still think saying he's her 'dad' is a bit of a strech, but he does care enough to let her touch him. He doesn't dislike or even have a neutral opinion on her. She's his friend, even if just a little bit.

Just an edit to clarify; I know 'friends' is probably also not the best word to use, but it's just the easiest way for me to describe it.

I’m still thinking about how particularly poignant it was for Kate to say this to Anthony

Especially when you juxtapose it against this

Here is a man who believes that the family he loves, and has devoted his life’s work to, doesn’t love him back. That they, in fact, despise him. Every single one of his siblings, and the only living parent he has left, all of them hate him.

It’s just so bleak, because he’s not just saying that they don’t love him, but also because he implies that they don’t understand the way he loves, the way he has devoted himself to them and he doesn’t know how else to love.

Then you have Kate telling him that she loves him so very much that she cannot bear it.

And she says this immediately after he expresses his love in a way he knows how to. Not as an “I love you” in words, but in saying that her home is also their child’s home, her culture is also his culture. That he’ll learn, that he wants to spend time and effort to learn about her home and history and teach it to their child. It’s very much an act of devotion.

Kate understands this. She understands how much he loves her. His way of loving is easy for her to understand.

And, she loves him back. She appreciates the way he loves her, it makes her love him even more, till it’s almost too much to bear.

Can you imagine what such a declaration means to a man who believed that he was doomed to be despised by the very people he loves because of the way he loves. He believed that his expression would go not just unreturned but unnoticed because he didn’t know how to translate it to his family.

And here comes Kate, who shows him that he doesn’t have to translate anything, because she speaks the same language. She understands the love he’s expressing and she returns it.

To be truly loved is to be known and no one knows or loves Anthony better than Kate.

New Mario art :D I never got to making the Rosalina comic... here's my take on her.

Rosa is an anomaly who was born in a timeline where Luigi and Peach end up together. The chaos heart is successful in erasing the universe, and the Lumas have to reset everything, but since Rosa has a bit of the chaos heart in her dna she's able to survive it. (somehow. for plot reasons)

She grows up with them, watching as the galaxies are destroyed, erased, and rebuilt. For whatever reason, the worlds always end around the same period of time. Either by chaos heart, black holes, or time being twisted until reality is shattered,

Centuries later, one specific timeline seems to last longer than the others, and Rosa dares to step out to find the reason why. And in order to do so, she has to face her family who never knew she existed.

Hermie was metatextually created, by Anthony, not to be a person but a goof. a joke. something for the lulz. and now textually Hermie was actually created just to be a goof. not a person with thoughts and feelings, but something to prank people with

and then metatextually, Hermie stuck around and stayed around for what was supposed to be pulling that long-con joke, but in the process he became a person. in a way, Will's dedication to Normal having a crush on Hermie is what kept him around, and Normal interacting with him that made Anthony flesh out the dialogue that turned Hermie from a goof to a character.

so then, textually, did Normal's care for Hermie actually turn him from a Goof into a Person? like, from a 2dimensional facsimile into someone with independent thoughts and internal logic?

yeah yeah yeah romance BUT LISTEN did the radiation of Normal's emotions fundamentally alter the sapient state of an already living being??? like the Doodler does? some wholesome version of doodlerizing??? NORMALIZING????
