Just fyi, before I do anything, I just wanna let you know that I overal enjoy the Skullgirls comic, but it does have some glaring issues that have frustrated me for a while

You see this? This is Cerebella

She’s one of the more complex characters in Skullgirls, but the main thing you need to know is that she’s a good person. A good person who, unfortunately, was raised by the mafia after her actual family was killed. She’s still a good person, but in a bad crowd, and this clouds her judgement.

I want you to remember this. Why? Because THE WEBCOMIC ASSASSINATED HER CHARACTER SO HARD I WANNA HOLD AN IRL FUNERAL.

Now, this might seem ridiculous, but holy FUCK. It feels like every time she’s on screen they go out of their way to make sure she’s as unlikeable as possible, from making her a short tempered asshole who has yet to show a hint of sympathy, to making her whine about going in a sewer to Eliza, a character who would take WAAAAY more issue with it than Cerebella. Especially since in the context of the scene, they are one an extremely important mission that Cerebella wouldn��t want to risk messing up, while Eliza is just being paid by them for this job, she has zero loyalty to them. I think you can see the problem with that. And honestly? I could go on, but it would just boil down to me whining about every scene she’s in. Because there is not a SINGLE good thing I can say about comic Cerebella

okay so SKULLGIRLS THEORYCRAFTING TIME

(put under a readmore because I have many thoughts and this is going to be long)

so. we have Umbrella now. this isn't a confirmation that they're going in the True Story Mode direction with Black Dahlia and Marie, because we all know Annie and Umbrella are fan favorites who people have been requesting to get in for a while, but it seems likely because, let's be real, that would definitely get people excited and sell very well. I mean, I don't know exactly how Black Dahlia would be received, but Marie as a finishing touch? With the announcement of an actual canonical story mode? HOO. that would get people pumped, even if they're not into Skullgirls, because how fun would playing as the boss sound?

but there's one thing that's been bothering me...if they truly are going True Story Mode here, where does that leave the DLC characters?

like, okay, Squigly fits right in because she was planned to be in the cast from the beginning. that's a no-brainer. Big Band is a bit trickier, but his relationship to the ASG Labs, and therefore Peacock, Valentine, and Painwheel, and general coolness factor let him slip in as well. but then you get to Eliza, Beowulf, and Annie, and things start going sideways.

yes, Eliza has well-established relationships with the other characters, and therefore could hypothetically serve as a minor threat like the Medici, but the thing is she's much higher on the threat scale than them by a long-shot. her route is literally just her girlbossing her way into the role of main villain. it'd take a lot of narrative gymnastics to justify her being a minor threat compared to the Skullgirl.

and Beowulf? Beowulf is just a guy, he's just - there. he has absolutely no relation to any of the original cast, doesn't know anyone personally; the only personal relationship he has with any of the playable characters is Annie, which is only retroactively true considering she was added after him.

Annie has probably the best shot of slipping into the story seamlessly out of the three, but it's considerably shakier than Squigly or Big Band considering that her main personal relationship right now is with Beowulf, who has the aforementioned issue of being Just a Guy. This might change with her story mode, but we'll see.

anyway. while I was thinking about this something hit me. this DLC is being labelled as the Season 1 Pass. Season ONE. I don't think anyone's really let the implications of this sink in because it's just too insane to even consider but this seems to imply that, should this pass do well enough, they could very well do another.

so here's where the theorycrafting comes in

let's say they are in fact going True Story Mode route. here's my theory. It's going to have the OG 8 - Filia, Cerebella, Peacock, Parasoul, Ms. Fortune, Painwheel, Valentine, and Double - as well as Squigly and the True Story 3...and that's it. The other characters are going to be there, sure, but they're not going to be playable.

because they have their own shit going on.

I'm thinking that, if they're truly going the True Story Mode of yore, it's going to have two halves - one with the OG cast, Squigly, and the True Story 3 where the main antagonist is the Skullgirl, and one with the remaining DLC characters and the Season 2 Pass where the main antagonist is Eliza, with the two halves happening around the same time and occasionally crossing paths.

I am aware this sounds insane. trust me, I have severe doubts in what I'm saying too. but also this makes sense? like if they are truly going with the True Story route and also intend to make another pass then one has to wonder where the hell those characters could possibly fit. this would also let Eliza exist without literally girlbossing her way into the main antagonist role because she'd already be in it, just not in the first half. and the other DLC fighters would fit better too because they get their own time in the spotlight. like this is all extreme speculation but at the same time it makes sense

as for who this second pass would be? again, this is purely speculation, but just going off the past and story roles...Minette (consistently voted high during the two character votes that got Eliza and Beowulf in; she's clearly as much of a fan favorite as Annie and Umbrella are), Brain Drain (need a minor threat like the Medici for the second half; also this would let them canonize Robo-Fortune (probably not Fukua though. RIP Fukua) and think about how hilarious that would be), Isaac (again, voted fairly high during the character votes, also he has a talksprite in the art compendium even though as far as I'm aware he hasn't made a canonical appearance? so they're doing something with him already), aaaaaaand Scythana (...this is more of a pipe dream than anything else but also so is this entire post probably).

My Smash Ultimate DLC predictions

Just thought I’d list the characters I’d mark as my predictions for the remaining four slots on the DLC fighter pass so that when they’re shown, I can look back at this list and laugh at how dumb I am.

I’m running on the assumption that having a spirit is a hard deconfirm, since the Fighter Pass was locked in at latest in November and that means that all of them were known by the dev team before release, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to include the spirits if they had plans for them as fighters (sorry Shantae).

This list is heavily subjective and only loosely rooted in realism, so yeah, I wouldn’t hold my breath (I certainly am not).

PRIMARIES

The four primaries are the ones I find the most likely / want the most. I doubt it’ll be these exact four, but I do believe/hope that at least one of them makes it in.

Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney series)

The fact that Ace Attorney has yet to receive even a single fighter, stage, item or even spirit is surprising to me. I’d have assumed that someone from the series would at the very least drop in as an assist trophy, but so far, Ace Attorney remains entirely outside of Smash. Phoenix Wright would be an obvious pick for the spot, but Apollo Justice could also work greatly.

Phoenix would mostly fight using punches and kicks. His sidetilt could be him making a finger point, and his fsmash could be him shouting out a “HOLD IT!”, “OBJECTION!” or “TAKE THAT!” bubble depending on how long it’s charged. He could create shock waves that look like wind with either his side- or neutral-B and his down-B could be him pulling some evidence in the form of some sort of weapon or throwable object.

His default costume could either be the original or the modern blue suit (but having both might make telling the two apart a bit difficult), with alternatives including his AJ design, his TT flashback design, a suit that looks like Furio Tigres, a red suit to resemble Edgeworth, a grey suit to resemble Mia and perhaps a black suit to resemble Ryūnosuke Naruhodō.

Spyro (Spyro series)

I see a lot of people calling for Crash, but maybe it’s just me being an Insomniac fan, but I feel that Spyro is a far better addition. Spyro would have great air mobility and would have access to multiple different elements, either by just using different specials for different elements, or by having a dedicated special to switch between them. Spyro has also technically had his own game for the DS, so he has been on Nintendo hardware (even if that restriction has been shattered by Joker).

Edelgard von Hræsvelgr (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

I am a Fire Emblem fan, but I’m still in camp “we don’t really need anymore Fire Emblem fighters”. That being said, Edelgard is less based on what I want, and more based on what I find highly likely. From what the trailers show, Edelgard is a jack of all trades, boasting proficiency in swords and axes, having access to weapon arts and even seemingly having access to magic. Edelgard is a likely addition on account of Three Houses being set for a somewhat early 2019 release. She also has an easy way around the spirit barrier. For most other potential fighters from a series already in Smash, if a spirit for them was left out, it’d be a bit obvious with other spirits from the same game still being in, but since Fire Emblem likes to switch up its entire roster inbetween games, that’s not an issue here. While I’d prefer an older character like Celica or Hector, they have both received spirits, and I doubt they’d be relevant enough to make it in.

Filia (Skullgirls)

As a complete out of the left field wildcard, I suspect that them announcing Filia would be one hell of a move to pull the rug out underneath us. Skullgirls is coming to Switch, and what better way to promote it than a fighter in Smash? And who better to represent the series than what is probably the strongest contender for the title of main character? Bayonetta being in means that she wouldn’t be too outlandish in terms of mature design. Filia would fight with Samson’s help and potentially the power of a slightly lengthened skirt. If not Filia, Parasoul is a pretty cool character and Cerebella is my favorite fighter, so there are the two I’d root for.

SECONDARIES

Still likely / wanted, but not as much as the four primaries.

Sly Cooper (Sly series)

I’ve previously joked about wanting Ratchet, but while I might be a huge Ratchet & Clank fan, I doubt Ratchet would be a good addition to the Smash roster. Sly on the other hand is pretty much made for Smash. The moveset writes itself. Tether grab with the cane, a dive attack with command grab on the side-B, counter with a smoke bomb on down-B, juggle strike as uptilt, sneak attack as back throw, silent kill as down throw, rising twister attack for the up smash or up-B, paraglider as the up-B or just when you hold down the jump button. Also, just a great all round design. With Joker breaking the must be on Nintendo barrier, Sly can comfortably sneak his way in.

Hershel Layton (Professor Layton series)

I don’t know much about Professor Layton, but I do know that it’s popular, and I doubt a Smash inclusion is too outlandish. Can’t say much because limitted knowledge though.

Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot series)

I’ve already made my stance on Spyro over Crash clear, but yeah, Crash for Smash would be sure to bring some cash.

Scorpion (Mortal Kombat series)

I’m mostly listing Scorpion because other people who argue for Scorpion potentially making it in do make somewhat great points for his inclusion. Although I doubt that he’d make it.

TERTIARIES

Might make it in or I just really want them, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Jak (and Daxter) (Jak and Daxter series)

Ratchet I find has the issue of just having way too much stuff. Even if we cut him down to only his most iconic weapons, that’s still too large of an arsenal with too many possibilities to be properly condensed into a moveset. Some of the most iconic gear is also from completely different eras of the series, so that’s also a problem. Heck, even the Final Smash would be debatable for which R.Y.N.O. would be a better fit.

Jak on the other hand has a set list of eco types he can use and a singular morph gun that can function as multiple different types of weapons, which is still a much shorter list, which seems far more workable to me. Light Jak is an easy Final Smash too, so there’s that.

Now, it might just be me not being that big on Jak & Daxter, which prevents me from seeing an obvious problem with this inclusion, but I actually do believe that he is a better fit than Ratchet is, as much as setting aside that heavy bias hurts.

Kat (Gravity Rush series)

Now here I am hoping for a Switch port of Gravity Rush or Gravity Rush 2 (GR mostly because it’d open the gate for a GR2 port). Gravity Rush was a huge part of the reason why I even got a Vita in the first place (another one being Little Big Planet), and not having a PS4 to play Gravity Rush 2 on has annoyed me, so please get on to porting that big N.

Either way, Kat I feel would be a great fit although I doubt it’d happen unless they decide to port her games, mostly because I’m very interrested in how Nintendo would handle her main mechanic of gravity shifting. Hopefully, they can nail her free flying hit and run feel without making her too broken.

The Last Dragonborn (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

More specifically, a heavy armor variant who uses swords, perhaps a bow, and definitely shouts, since that’s the one mostly used in promotional material. While Bethesda has very much fallen out of the gaming community’s favor, one cannot deny how popular this game still is.

Master Chief (Halo series)

I see a lot of people campaigning for him with various reasoning, but I just think he’d be a hilarious addition.

A Serious Talk

*This talk is very long and ranty. I understand not everyone wants to see that on their feed, and I know you guys don’t come here to see personal biznasty. I’m going to cut this off so you don’t have to read it if you don’t want to, but I please ask you do so if you follow my blog for the most part. I feel it’s important for you guys to see this, and I hope it’ll clear up any questions you might have for me and also give you a little insight on who I am. It’s time I sit you all down and have a talk with you guys, my lovely followers, roleplay partners and friends. This is a talk I feel like I’ve needed to have for a while with all of you, just to be honest with you guys about me and what I feel about this blog. I think honesty is the best policy, and getting this out there is something that I feel like needs to be done.

So, as all of you are probably aware at this point, I change muses on this blog as quickly as I change pairs of socks. Some come, some go, some stay for a while and then fade away and end up getting booted. For a while, I really felt like I had a good list of muses to use, and I actually really thought that my current batch was nice. That being said, now that I take a more serious look at them, I realize that there are a few problems with it. A lot of my muse picks are for characters that I really love and want to see fat. characters that can really fit a specific thing I’m trying to do when I feel it a certain day. However, that’s the problem:

My muse list isn’t flexible

There are a couple of muses that get attention by the masses (heh puns), such as Yang or Mia and most recently Momo (seriously y’all love her so much). But that leaves another half that I’m not satisfied with, the “niche” characters if you will. These are the characters that when I’m in a certain mood I’ll be like “hey I wanna play them”, but they aren’t ones that’ll catch anyone’s attention. I’ve come to notice around here that Fate, Touhou, DanganRonpa, and a couple of other series are very popular around here, while others such as Fairy Tail or Skullgirls aren’t, and that’s perfectly fine. I have no problem with that because quite honestly the girls in all those series are on a god level of cute/perfect for these situations. But unfortunately for now, that leaves me stuck. I’ve never watched a Fate series, played a match in Touhou or touched a DanganRonpa game, but I’ve watched 200+ episodes of Fairy Tail and played the mobile game of Skullgirls to basically its entirety at this point. I don’t have a lot of muses that are flexible with things people know and that I know, which really does stink at times. I should know better than this at this point, but quite honestly I don’t because part of me thinks it’s on me for not being a good enough writer and keeping you guys interested in my muses. So, at this point I’m going to make clear who the muses I’m going to be trotting out for now:

Now that leaves Erza, Cerebella and Akira gone. Most of you will probably ask why I would get rid of Akira. After all, he’s from a very popular game a lot of you know, and he’s the only male muse on here that I can’t stop talking about. The issue I’m having with Akira now is that he’s certainly fallen into that niche roll. I won’t always be in the mood to do a thread for him and I’ll leave my RP partners on wait for weeks on end, which isn’t right for them at all. I’m not at a point on my blog where it’s active enough to maintain keeping him here for asks at this point, and quite frankly I’m starting to think having male muses on here was a mistake. It has nothing to do with anyone, but I think it would just be best to focus on female muses from here on out. I love my big boi’s, but with how niche I can be with them I don’t think it’s worth it anymore and it’s time for me to really focus on how flexible I can be with characters I like to write and people know. I’ll be adding another Persona 5 muse in the coming days however, since it is my favorite game of all time. I have it down to about three people I’m considering adding, so if you guys want to hear more or don’t care, I’m fine with giving you whatever information you guys wanna hear.

Moving on to the next thing I wanna talk about, I want to talk about my writing and my feelings for the future of this blog. As of now, I’m a college student who wants to write his own TV shows in the future. I want to make worlds, tell stories and inspire others to do the same. That being said, I am probably my biggest enemy when it comes to this. I’m scared of myself, my shortcomings, of others, and the world itself. I have goals that I’m too scared to pursue because I worry about what others think of me. I do the same thing on here, mainly because there are so many of you I want to RP with but am too scared to even approach. I feel like my writing is insignificant and bad, and when I start threads with someone and they die, I’ll always blame myself for the cause. I want to be the best RP partner possible for all of you guys and entertain you guys, but being the person I am, I don’t feel like I can be that at all...

For a while, I was considering shutting this blog down and moving on from here. I didn’t think it was worth feeling shitty about myself all the time, but I started realizing that this place was probably my biggest safe haven. There are a ton of other places I’m involved in that don’t feel nearly as welcoming as this community. Other places, I feel like my words hold no value and that I’m just someone who doesn’t contribute anything positive. I just make people angry because I say a stupid thing, and then I feel terrible about it and want to apologize correctly, but I can’t even do THAT right and I make things worse because of the stupid person I am. The more I take a look around me, the more I start seeing people that don’t really care about me at times. They say they do, but they’re just as quick to move on from me when I want their help.

I’m not afraid to admit that I’m needy and love attention. I need people around me to talk to and keep me positive because I hate being alone. I like talking with all of you guys because you all make me feel special and wanted. I have made so many good friends on here that I talk to almost everyday, whether it be on here or through discord. They’ve helped me through some tough times, supported my ideas and encouraged me to go beyond what I feel comfortable doing. For the past three or more months, this place has been my safety net, my pride and joy because of how afraid I was to do other things at times. This blog actually got me watching new shows and playing new games I might’ve never tried before, and it still is. I don’t know where I’d be in all honesty had it not been for some of the amazing friends I’ve made on here.

So how does this tie in with my writing? How does this affect me and most importantly, you the fan of this blog or potential partner/friend. I’ve decided that I’m going to keep this blog going, and I’m going to write for me now. I’m going add muses that I’ll think are fun to play and flexible enough to use in certain situations as well as ones you all can interact with. I’m going to write whatever the hell I feel like on here and not feel like I’m being judged for it. I want to write because it’s fun, and I don’t want to feel pressured to be perfect. I’m nowhere near a perfect writer at this point in time, but trial and error will help me develop these skills that are essential to mold me into what I want to be. My writing from here on out is going to be something I can take great joy in and feel proud to show it off to everyone. I’m not going to pressure myself with feeling like I have to write this for everyone.

I’m going to write this because I want to write this, and I don’t give a damn what anyone thinks.

Granted, it’s not going to be easy to break out of old habits that have kept me down for years on end at this point, but I’m going to try my best. So please, bear with me and I promise that I’ll be better than ever for myself and for you guys. You guys deserve so much credit and praise for sticking by me for soon to be a year in February. Almost eight months going strong on here has been a treat, and I hope that it’ll continue being that.

As for a couple other small things, I haven’t forgotten about the Lucy X Erza feeding session fic I promised you guys. Time and motivation have probably been my biggest downfalls when writing this fic, but I promise that soon I’ll have it done and it’s going to be amazing. Just give it time and I’ll reward your patience. I’ll also give updates on muses as time goes by, maybe even hint at some if I feel like it warrants it. But as for now, the only muse I know for a fact that I want to play on here is Android 21. UNFORTUNATELY FOR MUN, Dragon Ball FighterZ doesn’t come out until February, and because we don’t have enough information on her personality, I don’t feel comfortable playing her. Sure, I could make some stereotypical observations based on her clothes and fanart, but I feel like that would be really... weak? ( I can’t think of the right word) on my part. I want to give you as close of a canon representation as possible, so waiting for the game is really the only option. Aside from that, I’m going to be delving into some of these more popular series that I see floating around here to familiarize myself with the content, maybe even pick a muse from some of them if someone catches my fancy.

With that, I think that about does my little rant. I really just want to thank all of you for sticking by me and supporting you, especially my close friends on here. There are way too many of you to list, but you guys certainly know who you are. This probably won’t be the last time I switch up my muses again, but I’m hoping I have a long interval in between the next time I do so. Thank you all for being awesome, and I promise I’m going to be better for me, which in turn will be better for you. <3

Last TV show watched: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (which has an incredibly funny story behind it because I was watching it on my friend’s Netflix account and her brother called her up and was like, “WHO DARES WATCH MY LITTLE PONY ON OUR SACRED NETFLIX ACCOUNT?” like... dude lol chill)

Gender: I’m a female and I use she/her pronouns. 

Pokemon Team: My family forced me into playing as Team Mystic when the game first came out but I will always want to be apart of Team Valor. 

Favorite Color(s):  Oh, this is a fun one! I love yellow. I know some people think it’s the ugliest color in the world but it just personally makes me very happy. 

Average hour(s) of sleep: Oh jeez, I wish I slept less. I would say that I typically get somewhere between eight to nine hours of sleep every day? I go to bed super early too, so that’s not very fun for my friends. I’m pretty much an old grandma on the inside. 

Favorite character(s): I have so many, they would need an entire list dedicated to how much I love them. I will say, I love a lot of the boys from Hetalia, Lettuce Midorikawa from Tokyo Mew Mew, Cerebella from Skullgirls and Xion from Kingdom Hearts.

Dream Job: I would just like to be out of my Florist job, realistically. I’m trying to get a job in the video game industry and hopefully one day create my own horror game. If we were going SUPER dream job though, (and I mean super because there is no way this could possibly happen, not matter how much I would love it) I want to preform on Broadway. I love singing and making people laugh and telling stories up on stage. There’s no place I would rather be.

What did you guys get for Christmas??? Anyone get any deals on Steam???

I myself received JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Manga, all of the Part 1 volumes in a set <3 from a friend of my mother’s and a headset that we had to return because it just wouldnt configure to my computer its the most confusing thing ever everything would work except for i couldnt hear sound out of it whatsoever, but its fine cause my best friend irl hooked me up with an old headset of his thats still in good condition C: So im happy 

I had also bought quite a few things on Steam with steam gift cards I received and some from my own money

1. VA-11 Hall-A Cyberpunk Bartender Action : I was craving a bartending game for some reason and thought it would be a shot in the dark to check if Steam had anything of the sort but damn if i was surprised. VA-11 Hall-A or as its said Valhalla is about a bartender named Jill working in a semi-mediocre bar in this cyberpunk futuristic setting, there’s robots and humans for the most part of what ive seen but i also heard from other character dialogue that there’s even some type of animals that are characters. In short to keep this from being a super long ass post the gameplay is you creating drinks for customers that come in and order and you chat with them and get to know their character sometimes things they say come up later on and each one of them is memorable as fuck dude like even the cynical ones are interesting to talk to :^T. The dialogue is REALLY FUNNY and not TOO futuristic, without rambling on and making ppl read too much its DEFINITELY worth a look.

As someone who usually would be turned off by the thought of a bartending visual novel game, I can assure you dude, its not what it sounds like. If i had a complaint about this game my only sole complaint would be that the Steam description is a misleading intentional joke but i almost dashed it off as one of those dating visual novels if i didnt take a closer look into it. though i guess people who judge books by their cover typically are the only ones missing out hehe

2. Skullgirls :i LOVE skullgirls, cerebella is my favorite to play as

3.Suits : This game is literally less than a dollar like clocking in at like literally 70 cents on Steam right now and even then its SUUUUUPER cheap. If you like OFF like me, you’d get a similar vibe from it like i did. I havent played much but its worth atleast a look at the trailer if you dont like rpg maker games then i dont think itll be up your alley imo

4.Tomb Raider 2013: One of my friends recommended this to me and DAMNNNNNN THAT INTRO WAS BRUTALLLLL, i plan to play this at some point but it seems like a big game to complete so I have it set aside for now but man did it get my attention

5.Papers, Please: Literally havent touched this game yet just heard its good

6.Ultimate Chicken Horse: THIS GAME IS SOOOOO FUN TO PLAY WITH FRIENDS, make sure you’re playing with multiple people though! its definitely more fun with more people. its a cute little game where you create obstacles on the course and whoever can overcome them and get to the goal a number of times, wins. you can play as a cute little sheep,chicken,chameleon,raccoon,horse or bunny as characters too!

7.Grim Fandango Remastered : I really have wanted to play this for some time, i like it a lot so far the cutscenes remind me of like old 90s cgi and for some thatd seem canny by todays standards but i love it, i love that you can physically see the game’s age while at the same time are able to enjoy it remastered.

8. ASTRONEER :This game is really nice to look at and I am dying to have someone to play it with someday soon :DDD I really was interested in playing a space game and Astroneer features you being able to explore planets with friends and do space exploration and such :T. 

9. Psychonauts: I heard this game was underrated, I initially dont know a thing about it other than it was released on the original xbox as an exclusive and that it was 90 cents on steam

10. Dangan ronpa trigger happy havoc : I love the art style for this game’s characters, Ive known about this series since like what 2014?? Was that when these games were made, i saw some shitposts from the fanbase they were pretty neat too, a lot of my friends like it as well but i never actually sat down to play a dangan ronpa game at all. A friend of mine had tried to get me to check out the series by saying you solve mysteries like Ace Attorney, so I had seen half an episode of Dangan Ronpa The Animation back then but I lost interest very quick sadly. Unfortunately at the time I hadnt heard that was the worst way to get a first impression of the series lmao, but anyways, who knows, this could even kick off a whole new type of game content on my blog, the fandom seems to be a fun bunch as well. 

11.Hyper Light Drifter : NEVER BEFORE HAVE I SEEN SUCH SWEET SAVORY GLOSSY BRIGHT COLORFUL PIXEL ART IN A MANNER SUCH AS THIS GAME HAS PRESENTED. it really seems like a game i need to play soon, infact i plan to play it after I beat Valhalla (Even though it has multiple endings HHHHHHH this game keeps getting better). If you dont know what hyper light drifter is my guy, check it
