Kremy was, and still is, very hellbent on making Gideon selfish, in a way that is more heartwarming than that sounds. He'd call it "practicing self-care" or "indulging in life's simple pleasures", but really, he's trying to make Gideon feel like a person again. A machine cannot be selfish, cannot want, cannot take. Gideon can. And he should, just to remind himself.
