Went so see Burlesque (uk 2024) and the hype was deserved. It’s iconic. The lighting, the sound, the band, the stage tech, the costumes , the hair and wigs, the choreography, the mostly aligned dual projectors, basically everything
Like I see it do things I’ve seen before with proficiency and it’s not just an admiration of the technique it’s like it has soul and most other things you’ve seen so the same are just pale imitations. Like I don’t really know how to disprove it but they don’t just hit their masks with great athleticism and practice they really seem passionate about getting where they’re going in a way that’s way stronger than most shows I’ve seen.
And the rotation stage they installed is a masterpiece.
Like don’t get me wrong it’s not replacing Broadway Beetlejuice and PortAventura’s annual Halloween show on my list of all time favourites but it’s up there and I’ve had a long time to get emotionally invested in those.
My only regret is not booking a ticket when I saw all the ads. I was certain I wanted to see it after my holiday but didn’t know what day I’d have the energy to see it and so I got ok seats but I couldn’t see anything near the ceiling but I could still see most of it and if I had the time and money I’d buy another ticket to rewatch it again this week.

LGBTQ comedy night in Sioux Falls
On 8/9, I’ll be returning to Sioux Falls to headline a muy queerlicioso comedy show at Club David. The rainbow-infused lineup includes Lauren Vana and Judas Holmberg. The always wonderful Alisha Rayne hosts. South Dakota is a warm and welcoming place, perhaps even more so during hot girl season. Hope to see you there!
