Recapitulating the week.

Added more pages to my website and worked on the layout some more: now there is a now page, about what I am doing, like Scott Boms put it on his own now page, now‑ish, a page about which tools I use to stay informed and mostly secured, and I have added a page linking to my friends.

That last part is sort of important, because of how important my connections are to me. Currently, most of the people on that page are from my graphic design study, but this will expand, with time, of that I am equal parts hopeful and certain.

I am also currently excavating the milieu around the book Creative Code by Maeda, with my eye already on Design by Numbers as well.

Autumn is here, with the Spätsommer’s last rays of a kinder sun, and as the outside air wafts in through heavy green curtains, I briefly understand that all things change, before I type on.

I wanted to write something about how it has been a long time since I have worked on my foundations for drawing, painting, and illustration, but I won’t.

I am moving on from judging, instead. I have been judging all kinds of things in all kinds of manners, and I am frankly just plain bored by it.

Have been playing Cyberpunk 2077 a lot, and I plan to play a lot more of it in the upcoming days.

I even bought two books about Cyberpunk: the artbook, and the pen and paper RPG called Cyberpunk RED.

I love Cyberpunk. The games. The genre lit I mostly avoid.

An online library of visual-narrative devices that are used in the medium of comics and other sequential art.

Happy Halloween! I'm really excited to be finally launching* what is maybe one of my most ambitious, largest work yet. This online library is the next phase of a research project that began in May 2020, when I first mused on how comics as a field doesn't have a resource that catalogues devices used in the medium. Like, theatre has devices, so does literature, and film! So why shouldn't comics? I always had an interest in comics studies and analysis. I love reading, making and thinking comics. However most of my knowledge was intuitive - I learned comics from osmosis and experience. This is true for many of my peers. Speaking about comics as a creator is hard, because we don't have a robust system of language. When we had to speak, many of us tend to reach for the language developed for film by film practitioners. If there is language specific to comics, it's either scattered in multiple blogs or hidden away in academic journals. The Comics Devices library is meant to aggregate everything and everybody into a single hub! After exploring some multiple resources, alongside some original, independent research, here is the first edition! * The Comics Devices project is still a work-in-progress! It's not final, nor will it ever be. This is why I am seeking contributors to help build this library. Translations, comics examples, etc. There is a lot of work to do! the UNRWA are still working tirelessly to get aid in. they've reopened up three health centers, they're still working to get more kids into distance learning programmes (260k+ since jan). they're still there, and they still need support -> this account here also has a list of fundraisers and ways to support.

as i type this, they've cut off all electricity in gaza.

it has always been, and will always be, free the middle east, even if a man climbing big ben with a palestine flag is all you see on the news.

As much as I lovelovelove Mystery Trio AUs- these three unhinged men should NEVER spend any amount of time together in their prime if you want any peace and quiet.

Someone merely mentions the ides of stealing *something* from a government facility? Stan's warming up the El Diablo that he's already taken the tags off; Ford somehow already has the blueprints to the building and Fiddleford has a handheld lock picking device that also knocks out the signal on surveillance cameras.

Ford finds it logical to use essentially chemical warfare on the guards they didn't know would be patrolling as he blows idk, fairy dust, in their faces. Stan notices that several of his personas' wanted posters are up in an office and he stuffs them in a paper shredder as they walk by not because he is embarrassed but because they weren't even good artist renditions of what he looked like. Fiddleford of course finds alien tech that the government officials are testing and pockets in, knowing it will come in handy for his next giant robot.

As they head back to the Shack Stan jokingly suggests knocking over a bank and Fiddleford nonchalantly says they don't need to, he built a printing press the other week. Ford nods, as if this is a completely reasonable response and Stan has never felt closer to his brother.

While I am loading up my handheld with music, I came across The Book of Ive talking about Solarpunk and how it relates to Cyberpunk.

At first I was passively listening to it, as you do while doing something more important but still need to occupy your inner gremlins, but then he mentioned a word I have not heard before: interpassivity, a word linked to Robert Pfaller’s philosophy of media, and also the title of his 2017 book, and I paused and took note.

And this is how the book and its topic is described on its page on De Gruyter:
